- 0:02SPEAKER_00: This particular method that I'm talking about, you don't have to reach out to anybody.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Nobody has to know you're doing this.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Therefore, you can forgive dead people.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: You don't have to forgive the unforgivable.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: I am the only one on the planet that's going to tell you that.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Because there's a lot of people, places, and things, and I did say places and things.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Stay with me, don't click off this broadcast.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: But you can forgive before you even get to that.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: How important is this self-forgiveness now?
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Self-forgiveness is incredibly important, especially if you're a paramedic in the medical field, you're an ex-military, done some things that you probably just can't forgive yourself for.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: After working some of the steps that it teaches you, it will remove the emotional charge.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: So you won't care.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: You'll be able to look back into your past and you'll be able to tell the stories with no emotion.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: You won't care.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: You won't care good, you won't care bad.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: You just won't care.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: And that is freedom, because now you're able to think about other things.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Hey, welcome everyone to Day Talkbook Show.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: My name is Vadim.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: And today our guest is Kathryn Giovanni.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: She is an author, award-winning author and forgiveness educator.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: She helps people release heavyweight.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: And today we're going to talk about forgiveness and moving forward.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: Catherine, welcome to the show.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for having me.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: I appreciate it.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, my pleasure.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: And first simple question for today uh what is your definition of forgiveness?
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Well, the thing about forgiveness is everybody tells you to forgive.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Your teachers, your your pastor, your parents.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Everybody tells you to forgive.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Okay, how?
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: How do I do it?
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: And what if I don't want to?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: What if it's an unforgivable person?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Then what do I do?
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, just forgive.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Ah, okay.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: But the thing with forgiveness, my formal definition of forgiveness is simply this.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: I just want them out of my head.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: I have so many people that come up to me and say, I don't want to forgive them, I just want them out of my head.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: So the reason they're saying that is because on a scale of one to ten, with ten being unforgivable and one being easy, everybody, including you, my friend, everybody is thinking right now of their unforgivable person.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: It's a knee-jerk reaction.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Your brain immediately goes to the person who hurts you the most.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Well, the system I'm gonna teach you starts with the easy ones.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: You've saved the dumpster fire for last.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: You're gonna start with the easy ones and work your way up.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: So and then can you forgive someone and still like never speak to them?
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: Or uh or it doesn't work like that?
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: There are a few principles that that that I talk about, and some of them are just things that people have gotten wrong.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: So here's one.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Just because I forgive you doesn't mean I want a relationship with you.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: I probably don't.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: I you know, you don't deserve my forgiveness, and I have boundaries in place.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: I'm not doing it for you.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: I'm doing it for me because I want you out of my head.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: I'm not doing it, it's not going to affect you at all.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: I don't have to reach out and talk to you and tell you I've forgiven you.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: I can do it in the privacy of my own own home.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Nobody has to know.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Here's another one.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Just because I forgive you doesn't mean all of a sudden I'm saying you were right and I was wrong.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: It doesn't.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: It also doesn't mean I'm weak.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: I'm actually strong.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: You're still wrong.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: You still probably have amends to make.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: You're still gonna be on the other side of the fence.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: I don't want to have coffee with you.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: I don't want to talk to you.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: I'm doing it for me.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: You're still wrong.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: I'm doing it because I want you out of my head.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: And then there's the one, well, if you forgive, you'll forget.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Uh, I'm from New York City, and I can promise you that, and I can speak for everybody in New York City.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: We don't forget anything.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: So that doesn't, that's not gonna happen.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: But what I can promise you is uh after working some of the steps that I'm gonna teach you, it will remove the emotional charge.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: So you won't care.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: You'll be able to look back into your past and you'll be able to tell the stories with no emotion.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: You won't care.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: You won't care good, you won't care bad.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: You just won't care.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: And that is freedom because now you're able to think about other things.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: So and uh also um uh many times I heard in my life uh people say, uh, just forgive, just forgive him, or just let it go and whatever.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Uh why is it uh why is it such a bad advice?
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Why is it not not the best advice you can you can get?
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Because nobody can do that.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Especially if you're thinking of the unforgivable, which is what they're saying, you know, you're probably in the heat of the moment, you're probably, you know, absolutely livid, and they're saying, well, just forgive.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Why can't you just forgive them?
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Well, I can't.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: I'm angry, I've got emotions, they hurt me.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, it's it's all sorts of things.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Not everybody can, but you can pick apart the memory, and we'll get there.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: I'll I'll get there.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: There is a there is a trick to teach you to forgiving the unforgivable.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Um but you can't just, well, why can't you just forgive?
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Because nine out of ten humans can't.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: We just can't.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: We have to take it in small bites.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: We have to sit with it a while.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: I'm not telling people to run away from their negative emotions, the the anger, because I think that's I I actually don't think that's very healthy.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: I want you to dive into those negative emotions.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: I just don't want you to live there.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: I tell everybody I'm gonna give you 24 hours to do whatever you want.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: You can yell, you could scream into a pillow, you could eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: I don't care what you do.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: But after 24 hours, I think you have to stand up and you have to start walking.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: I don't think I don't think it's healthy to you know, I don't think it's healthy to be Susie Sunshine from Sunnybrook Farms 24-7, and it's you can't you can't keep that up.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: Nobody can Okay, and um so as I've understood your goal is uh clearing the mind.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: And what does that uh feel like daily?
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: Like what's this?
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Let me give you let me give you a visual and that'll probably help.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Uh close the top.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: For anybody listening, I'm gonna talk you through it, so it's fine.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: I'm about to hold a purple coffee cup right in front of my face.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: So I'm holding this purple cup and I'm holding it to the side of my body.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: This cup represents anger.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: And look at my body language.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: I can have a conversation with you, I can I can keep my anger at bay.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: It's super easy.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: I got this, it's not a problem.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: But humans irritate other humans, don't they?
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: So the more I live, I'm gonna continue to put anger inside the cup.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: And if I don't start taking some of the anger out of the cup, it's gonna start to get heavy.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: So now I'm using two hands to hold up the cup.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: It's not interfering with my life yet.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: The anger, I can still keep my anger off to the side, but it's starting to penetrate into my conversations and it's starting to affect my life because I'm still putting stuff into the cup.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: If I keep doing that, well, now I'm holding the cup in front of my face, and both my arms and both my hands are engaged in holding up the cup.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: I can't even see you at this point.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: It's everything I'm talking about.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: It I'm losing friends because it's all I can talk about.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: And I'm getting sick because I'm getting every Tom Dick and Harry cold germ that walks down the road.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: So by using the system that I'm going to teach you, it's by starting with the easy ones.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Now look at my body language, and I've only forgiven the easy ones.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: My life has started to open up again, and if I keep on going, then eventually I can put the cup down.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: You know, people say anger is toxic.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: Well, that's not helpful.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Tell me how.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: There's a study done in Japan called the Japanese Water Study, and you can Google it.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: It's right on the first page.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: I think it's by I should write his name down.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: I really should.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: It's by uh Masamoto, something like that.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Anyways.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: What he did is he took two containers of water.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: One container of water he just said words to.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: All he spoke was love to it, said how much he loved it, told it it was beautiful, the most beautiful words in the world.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: The other container, hate.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: The most hateful thing you can say to a human being, he said to that water.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: He then froze the water and he put it under a microscope to see what happened.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: The water he spoke love to had these beautiful snowflake kind of geometric figures.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: They were gorgeous.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: The pictures are online, they're really cool.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: The water that he spoke hate to had these malformations and they were black and sick looking.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Why am I telling you this?
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: The human body is 95% water.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: So if you if you're if you're filled with resentment, if you're filled with anger and you're just mad at the world, what do you think you're doing to the water cells within your own body?
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: You're literally making yourself sick from the inside out.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: That's why they tell you that anger is toxic, and that's why you need to release it.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: One of the reasons.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah, thank you.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: Uh and let's talk about forgiving unforgivable.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: It's very interesting the topic for me.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Uh, how do you forgive unforgivable and uh is it even possible for everyone or just for certain group of people with different mindset?
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: Like what's how does it work?
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: You don't have to forgive the unforgivable.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: I am the only one on the planet that's going to tell you that.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Because there's a lot of people, places, and things that I did say places and things.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: Stay with me, don't click off this broadcast that you can forgive before you even get to that person.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: So let the let me teach you the system and then I'll teach you how to forgive the unforgivable.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Yes, but I want everybody to be alone in a room.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: I don't want humans with you.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: The dog can be there, the dog can be quiet, but I really want you alone for about 20 minutes, right?
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Then I want you to get a pad of paper and a pen, or your laptop, or your, you know, or your phone.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: I actually don't care.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: And I want you to write down all the people you think you need to forgive on that piece of paper.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: The first five people are gonna be the people who pick who you are most angry at.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: They're gonna be your unforgivables.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: That's fine.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Mine were too when I did this exercise.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Keep going.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: I want you to think of the guy who stole your sandwich out of the work refrigerator.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: Write the guy's name down.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Or if you don't know the guy, sandwich guy, write that down on your paper.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: The time when you were a kid and somebody stole your paper or they stole your sweater or they stole your wallet, write that down.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Write down the person who cut you off in traffic yesterday and you got a little road rage.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Write that.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: They somebody who stole your parking spot.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Write everybody you can think of.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Don't judge the list.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Whatever comes into your mind, write it down.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: Then I want you to take that list and I want you to rate these people from one to ten.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: One being easy, ten is unforgivable.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Now you could have 20 number sevens.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: I don't care.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: You could skip a number, I also don't care.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: But what I do care about is when you do the practice, you start with the easy ones and you work your way up.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: So I want you to look at the I want you to look at the first name on the list.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: We'll take one of my one.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: I've done this exercise many times.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: So I took the first name on the list, and it happened to be a girl I went to high school with.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: And she was a number one because we were tight.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: We had a falling out.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: And when I did this exercise, I was, I think, in my 50s.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: I'm 65 now, but it was about 15 years ago.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: And I couldn't remember for the life of me what what why we were mad.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: So it was super easy to forgive her because so many years had gone by, I didn't remember what we were mad at.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: So I sat in the middle of my bed and watch you alone, put my hand on my heart, and I said, I completely and all this stuff is in my book and that kind of thing, but I completely forgive Susan.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: I completely forgive the energy around Susan.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: I completely forgive myself.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: I forgive the energy around myself, I forgive the energy around the entire relationship, and so it is.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: End it any way you like.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: Now check in with your body.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Are you still angry?
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: No, cross the name off the list, go to the next one.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: Are you still angry because it was a number three person?
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, cross the three off, put it two, wait twenty four hours, do it again.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: This happened to a friend of mine, and I she was sitting right, she was sitting right in front of me at the time.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: It was a level five person, somebody from her childhood, thought she could kick it easily, go from five to zero.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: So she did that first pass and she looked and she all of a sudden got really angry and she said it's a ten now.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: It went the wrong way.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Why did it shoot up to a ten?
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: It's supposed to go down, not up.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: Well, the brain is a really smart instrument, and there's a closet in the back of your brain, and there's a movie playing in it, and the closet is locked.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: You would turn the movie off if you knew it was there, you don't know it's there.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: But that first pass was like a magic were magic words, and your brain's like, ooh, great.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Catherine is ready for me to open up this closet, and it did, and it flooded her brain with memory.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: She didn't know we're there, she got mad, so she crossed the name, the th the five off, put a ten, put them at the back of the list, went to the next person.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: So why am I having you forgive energy?
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: The thing about forgiveness is some people really have done the work and they really, really have figured out how to forgive people.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: But they don't stay forgiven.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: You get triggered.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: You see your childhood home, you get triggered.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: You smell an apple pie, it reminds you of your grandmother.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: You're mad at your grandmother, you get triggered.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: How do you stop the triggers?
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: Well, science has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that everything on our planet has an energy field around it, including this little silver microphone I am speaking into right now.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: And when you get angry, what happens to the anger?
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: I'm the only I'm the only I'm the only idiot that ever actually thinks these things through.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: But when you get angry, where do you think?
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: The words go and they just magically dissipate into the universe?
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: No, they actually don't.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: They hang around your energy field.
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: And it's not going to clear until you clear it.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: So that's why you need to forgive the energy field when you do this when you do this work.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah, so and um do we need to tell those people we forgive them or or just leave it?
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: You know, I've been sober for 35 years, and when you first go into sobriety, AA here in the United States, they do want you to make amends, they do want you to reach out to people.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: This particular method that I'm talking about, you don't have to reach out to anybody.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Nobody has to know you're doing this.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: Therefore, you can forgive dead people.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Because where these people are or are not doesn't matter a lick.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: Because they're alive and well in your mind.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: And this is another way you can get closure because maybe they died before you could say your peace.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: You know, so when you're forgiving people, before you say the magic words, I want you to imagine that the person is standing in front of your bed, right?
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: So you're alone in a room, you've got the name in your head, her name is Susan, to keep using our example.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: So this was a kid from high school, so I want you to imagine that the high school Susan is standing in front of you, not the adult, I want the kid.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Now say anything you like.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: You can scream, you can cry, you can dance around your room.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: I don't care, you're alone in a room.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Then you say the mantra once you've gotten that all out of your system, and then you move on to the next person.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Not everybody can imagine people in their mind's eye.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: Not everybody can do it.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: If you're one of those people who can't see pictures and movies in their head, put a chair in front of you, talk to the chair.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Some people even put s a picture or a name on the chair and just continue going through your list.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: Now let's talk about the unforgivable.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: Because I'm having you go from the number ones all the way straight through to the unforgivables.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: We're gonna use my father as an example.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: He died over 30 years ago, so doesn't mind if I throw him under the bus.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: I was angry at my father.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: I didn't even want to imagine him standing in front of me.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: I didn't want to forgive the energy around the guy, I didn't want to do any part of it.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: So I picked apart the memory.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: I picked a random Thanksgiving or Christmas, that's a universal holiday, a random Christmas.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: And I and I really did this, I'm actually very serious about it.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: And I remembered the room and the house that we were in at that particular year.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: So I forgave the chair I was sitting in, the energy around the chair, I forgave the table, the energy around the table.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: I forgave the people that were sitting there that didn't help me, the energy around these people.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: I forgave the building, I forgave the car that I drove to get there.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: I forgave the town.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: I forgave every part of that memory, both animate and inanimate, people, non-people, dogs.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: I forgave every single person I could think of, everything.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: And then I checked in with my body to see if I was ready to forgive dad.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: Uh-uh.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: But when I checked in, I kind of thought, well, it's not a 10 anymore, it might be a nine-five.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: So the needle moved.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: So I picked another holiday and I did it again.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: And it took me, this is a marathon, this is not a sprint.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: It took me weeks to get my dad down to a forgivable level where I did finally forgive my father.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: But it took a very long time to me to even be able to forgive the energy around the man.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: Now listen to what I just said.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: I'm forgiven the energy around him.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: I've forgiven every part of the memories that I can, still haven't forgiven the man himself.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: I forgave everything else, including myself.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: That's very important to forgive yourself.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: If this is, there are unforgivable things in the world, we both know it.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: Truly unforgivable acts.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: So do you have to forgive that person who murdered or raped or pillaged or did what they did?
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: No, you don't.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: But you can pull apart the memory and forgive just enough of the memory.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: Forgive yourself, forgive the car that you got into and shouldn't have.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: Forgive the table, the bed, the park, the bench, forgive all of that.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: And that will allow you to breathe again and move on with your life.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: If you're one of those people that can circle back months later and actually forgive that dark human being, then God bless you.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: I am not one of those people.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: I just don't think I could.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: But some people can.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: But if you can't forgive that person, you have forgiven every other part of that memory.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: It's now enough out of your head that you can move on with your life.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: I forgave 1974.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: Why did I forgive 1974?
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: Because that's the year I was 13 years old in the eighth grade, getting terribly bullied.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: My parents were alcoholics and I tried to commit suicide.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: And I pulled apart the memory, I pulled apart everything I could think of, my childhood bed, the bullies, everything I could think of.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: And I was finally able to kick that particular year to the curve and move on with my life.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: And now I can breathe again.
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: Now I can talk about it.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: No anger comes up whatsoever.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: I can tell all those stories without any anger at all.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: It's just a story at this point.
- 20:36SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: Uh so and um how do how do I know it worked uh if we follow your your steps?
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: Uh what is the first signs.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Well, you are gonna feel relief, but you're not gonna care.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: Let's say you forgave your father.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: We'll just you we'll just keep throwing my dad under the bus.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: Let's say I forgave dad.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: Let's say he was alive and well.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: He's not, but let's pretend he is.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: And he invites me to another Christmas.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: When I walk in, is he gonna be different?
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: No.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: He's still gonna be the same guy.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be different because I won't care.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: He won't be able to push my buttons as much because I won't care.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: Now, because humans are humans, will he still push buttons?
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: Will he piss me off?
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: Of course he will.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: I'm human, I get angry, but I'm gonna notice that I'm angry.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: And my my anger is not gonna go up to a 10 again.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: It's probably gonna go up to a four or a five, which is easily workable.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: And that night you'll I'll I'll go home, I'll work on forgiving him again.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: Might take me a week or two to do it, but I will work on getting him back down to a one.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: You're gonna notice you're angry.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: This actually happened to me.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: It wasn't with my father, it was with somebody else.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: And I saw them at a party, and it was fine.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: I was cordial.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: They kind of felt like a business associate, you know what I'm saying?
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: We talked about the weather.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: They they pushed my buttons, but you know, as humans do, they kind of pissed me off and they kind of started sliding down that slide into the muck.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: So I walked out to my car, shut the door, made sure the windows were all up, and I said, I forgive you, I forgive you, maybe a hundred times.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: And some blue, nasty words might have creeped in in a couple of those I forgive you.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Did I mean any one of them?
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Not one.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: I was furious.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: But that night I went home and I checked in with my body and I thought, honest to God, what level is this?
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: And I thought it went up to a four.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: I wasn't in a number ten unforgivable rage anymore.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: I was really just it was a four.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: I was pissed, I was angry, but after I did it every night for a week and I knocked that person back down to a zero.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Now, does it mean I want to talk to this person?
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: Nope.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna reach out, I don't want to talk to them, I don't want to, I don't even want to connect with them on social media.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: I am free.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: And there they can do whatever they're going to do and they'll continue doing whatever it is they do.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: If they're a narcissist, they'll keep doing it.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: But it's not going to affect me anymore.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: But I'm not gonna put myself, I'm do I want to go to a party where they are?
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: No.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: I have no desire.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: But I can look at their name on social media and you don't have to peel me off the ceiling anymore.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: I don't care.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: I don't care good, I don't care bad, I don't give a damn about them.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: And that's when you know you're free.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: You're neutral.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: There's no emotional charge left.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: You and I don't mean to be to be mean, you know, I'm not being callous.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm a kind person, you kind of care about them, but you really don't.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: You don't care.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: Catherine, we also blame ourselves very often for m some past mistakes.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: Uh how important is uh self-forgiveness now?
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: Self-forgiveness is incredibly important, especially if you're a paramedic, you're in the medical field, you're ex-military, you've done some things that you probably just can't forgive yourself for, and that's fair.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: So there's a second list I want you to make.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: I want you to do the first list of you forgiving everybody else.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: The second list is the people that need to forgive you.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: So you sit down in the room just like before, I want you to write a list of all the people you think you need to forgive, that no that need to forgive you.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Then I want you to rate them from one to ten.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: You take the first one and it could be it could be people, it could be places, it could be an event, it could be something you said, something you didn't say.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: If it's not a named person, just the time at the party in 1977, you know, whatever.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Just give give the event a name and then rate them from one to ten.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: Start with the first one.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Imagine the event is in front of you.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: Say whatever you want to say.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: Imagine the person is in front of you.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Say whatever you need to say, and then say my mantra, except that you're gonna flip the words.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: Instead of Susan forgives, instead of I forgive Susan, you're gonna say Susan forgives me.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: You're just gonna flip the words and work your way slowly up the list.
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: Remember, the person you were then is not who you are now.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: You did the best that you could with the tools you had at the time.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: Was it good enough?
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: Maybe, maybe not.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: But you did the best.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: That's how I forgave my parents.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: They did the best they could with the tools they had.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: Was it good enough?
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: No, actually it wasn't.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: But they did their best.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: You know, so that's kind of how you did your best.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: Cut yourself a break.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: There's so many things that you didn't know, and hindsight is 2020.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: You know them now.
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: And even if the event happened 24 hours ago, you still know more today.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: It's a brand new day.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: So forgive your past self for being who they were.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: They did their best, and for that you can forgive yourself for.
- 26:04SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I hope everybody write it down and give us a like and uh comment down below.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: And the next question.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: Uh in uh your book you write about um intuition.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: So how unresolved anger blocks your intuition.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: Because it affects many things in life, right?
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: Well, as I said earlier in your broadcast, when you're angry, it goes into your energy field, and your energy goes from a uh translucent cloud to a dark one that's very hard to see through.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: So it bl anger will will it works like a lead shield and will actually block your intuition.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: So everybody in the planet is intuitive.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: 10 out of 10 people.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: You see it, feel it, hear it, or know it.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: Everybody does it.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: We all have a way that we do it naturally.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: You wouldn't be human on earth if you didn't have one of those intuition pieces.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: Everybody does it.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: But the thing about your gut, your intuition, women call it intuition, men call it their gut, is if you're angry, you're so focused on the anger, your intuition is not gonna be able to bleed through.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: Now, the other side will get through if they want to.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: They'll be able to get one or two words through.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: They'll get through if they re if it's something really major, but you won't really, your intuition is gonna get stronger.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: So, what's gonna happen when you start this forgiveness process?
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: You're gonna start to feel better.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: You're gonna start to notice things more.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: Why are you gonna notice things?
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: Because when you had the anger, and I'm holding the cup back in front of my face, I couldn't see anything.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: But now, if my anger's gone, I can see that new job opportunity, I can see that new relationship, I can finally find that new apartment that I want, that new treatment for whatever health issue I have.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: Why couldn't I see it before?
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: Because I was so focused on the anger, I couldn't see anything.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: My whole world is opened up now.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: I'm paying attention.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: I'm finally able to be the authentic person I came down here to the planet to be.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: I don't have that shield of anger in front of me anymore.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: So now I can see, and people are gonna notice, they're gonna look at you and say, Is that a new shirt?
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: Did you do something?
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: Is that a new haircut?
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: What did you you look so good today?
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: They're gonna feel your energy.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: Your energy is gonna feel lighter.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: And most people, um, I'm very aware and very sensitive to energy.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: So I always notice it, but most people they won't know what they're noticing.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: They're just gonna know that you feel better.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: And they're gonna say, Wow, you just look so good today.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: And that's your cutest.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: Either tell them what you've done or just smile and say thank you.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: This is a very private thing.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: First, forgiveness is selfish.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: You do it for you.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: You'd never do it for them.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: They don't deserve it.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: They're still a dumpster fire.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: It's all for you because you want them out of your head.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: And if you only do the people you label from one to seven and you never get to the eight, nines, and tens, that's fine.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: Circle back when you can actually get up there.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: I actually have a client as we speak who have yet to get to his eight, nine, and ten people.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: He just can't do it.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: But eventually he's working on the other people, he's working on self-forgiveness, and he's said to me, you know, I know I can get there eventually, but it might take me a few more months.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: And that's fine.
- 29:31SPEAKER_00: Go at your own pace.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: You're gonna feel a hundred percent better just by forgiving the first few people.
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: Yep, yep.
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: And uh a little bit about uh your book, uh Rainbows and uh banana peels.
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: Um uh as I know you you had cancer in the in the past, right?
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: I did.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: And you I did.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: And you wrote this book during the the therapy, the chemotherapy.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: I write a lot of books.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: I've written like 15, 16, something like that.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: But rainbows and banana peels, I actually wrote in chemotherapy on my cell phone because I was bored.
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: Oh wow.
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: And it it was it's a book about my journey through triple positive breast cancer, 10 operations, radiation, chemo, the whole thing.
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: And at the time I wrote that book, there really wasn't anything out there to help people what you should think, what you should do, what you should eat.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: People just kind of threw the medicine at you.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: So that's why I wrote rainbows and banana peels.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: And it's because that's what life is.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: You're either sitting on top of a rainbow and life is great, but rainbows are slippery suckers.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: And at some point you're gonna slide off it.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: And when you slide off it, sometimes you'll slip at a banana peel.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: And if you're really unlikely lucky, you'll you'll find yourself in a field of banana peels, and those are really hard to get out of.
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: So it's a good analogy for cancer or anything major going on in your life.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: But yeah, it's it's a if you're going to, especially breast cancer, if you know somebody going through breast cancer, that's a good little book.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: I hope it doesn't scare people, but it's a very honest accounting of what I went through and how you can get yourself out.
- 31:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:09SPEAKER_01: So, and as you said, the humor also helped you to survive somehow, right?
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: Does.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: I mean, my husband and I became two comedians when we walked into uh chemotherapy because you can either laugh or you can cry, and I prefer to laugh.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: A funny story.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: I didn't like radiation.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: I just didn't.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: The whole thing freaked me out.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: It felt like, you know, you were in a Star Wars and they had a lightsaber going over you, making that awful noise.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: You know, I just didn't like it.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: But every day you go there every day for three weeks.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: Every day for three weeks, and every day they ask you the exact same question.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: What is your birthday?
- 31:45SPEAKER_00: And it's the same nurse every time.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: So my after the second week, my brain snapped.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: So instead of telling her my birthday, I went back a decade.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: So instead of 61, I said 51.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: And she ripped her hand around and she said, Mrs.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: Giovanni.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: And I looked at her and I said, If you think I'm 10 years older, how great do I look right now?
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: So I uh you just have to play.
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: Your mindset when you have cancer or a disease, your mindset is the most important health tool you have in your pocket.
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: And it's very important.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: Don't die until you're dead, until that last breath, then you can give up.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: But until then, don't die until you're dead.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: I survived stage three cancer.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: I am still here all these years later, and I I contracted it in 2012.
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: And the dark thoughts are gonna come.
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: Never go to Google.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: Don't Google your symptoms.
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: They will have you dead by two o'clock on Tuesday.
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: Do not go to Dr.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: Google, it's a horrible thing to do.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: But keep, and you can't be Susie Sunshine.
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: You're gonna have bad moments, but stay positive, as positive as you can.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: Meditate and listen to that little bird on your shoulder, which is another book I wrote, because that bird will get you where you need to go.
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: Also, on your on your website, you offer readings, right?
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: What what are those uh readings about?
- 33:15SPEAKER_00: I am very intuitive.
- 33:17SPEAKER_00: I was born clair audience, which means I hear voices in my mind and know I'm not schizophrenic and I don't need meds, although when I was younger I thought I did because I didn't know what was going on.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: I'm also clairvoyant, which means I see things, and I'm I am uh clair cognizant, which also means I know it.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: So I see it, feel it, hear it, and know it all at the same time.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: Everybody on the planet does this.
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: It's not just me.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: Everybody does it.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: I just was born with all the lights on, so to speak.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: So when you come to a session with me, I it I never know what's gonna come out of my mouth.
- 33:53SPEAKER_00: But I will I will give you information that's gonna help your life now.
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: A lot of the information I get, and this is gonna stretch so many people's brains, which is why I'm trying to dance around it.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: This is not your first time on earth.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: Reincarnation is a real thing, and sometimes I do get past life information because the angels will give me information uh that's affecting you in this lifetime.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: That energy I keep talking about that hangs around your energy field, well, it's even it's even worse because it's some of it, if it's a really, really traumatic event, will follow you from life to life to life.
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: So if you're scared of heights, you were probably thrown off a cliff in the last life.
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: And by me seeing you in my head being thrown off the cliff, we will talk about it, and that will help with your fear of heights.
- 34:44SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: So how do these bus life lives in in Baghdas?
- 34:51SPEAKER_00: I'll tell let me tell you a story about a real client of mine.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: He's a cop.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: Yes, please.
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: And he he is a cop, and he's he's a family member of mine, and he called me up and he said, Kath, I will do anything you tell me to.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: And he's a cop, and he thinks what I do is hoodoo voodoo, but he was at the end of his rope at this point.
- 35:11SPEAKER_00: He couldn't sleep.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, he couldn't sleep.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: He tried hypnosis, he tried medicine, he went to doctors, he did the sleep tapes, he did the white noise, he did everything.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: He couldn't sleep, and he's a cop.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: You have to sleep when you're a when you're a cop.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: So it was gate, it was starting to affect his job.
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: So he finally called me up and said, I don't care what you tell me to do, I'll do it.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: So all of a sudden I get a vision in my head, and I see this guy sleeping in a bed with his wife, and he's the sheriff of a town.
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: And I watch, it was like a movie playing in my head, and I watched his wife smother him with a pillow and kill him.
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: And he was a beloved sheriff sheriff in the town.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: And when I when I said this to my client, he's like, huh.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: You know, I've had trouble dating women for as long as I can remember.
- 36:03SPEAKER_00: And I looked down and said, Well, if my wife smothered with me with a pillow, I wouldn't trust women either.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: And after our session, and I led him through forgiveness when we forgave every part of that dream using the mantra, and I forgive we forgave that lifetime, and after that session, he started to sleep through the night, and he a few weeks later he started to date again.
- 36:27SPEAKER_00: Some of this stuff can follow you from lifetime to lifetime, and it really is real.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: There there might be some things that that you're doing that is probably steeped in a lot in a in a lifetime.
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: So you think our lives are like it's infinite?
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: Never-ending story?
- 36:45SPEAKER_00: This is this is this is not the first time you've been.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: This is not your first rodeo, my friend.
- 36:50SPEAKER_00: You have been here last year.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I understand what you mean.
- 36:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 36:55SPEAKER_00: Also as in Nichols' brands.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:59SPEAKER_01: For sure.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: Uh so you you had the concierge uh concierge b business, or what it calls, right?
- 37:07SPEAKER_01: Or you had or you still have it?
- 37:09SPEAKER_00: No, I retired from the concierge industry in 2020.
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: I'm credited with being one of the original founders of the concierge industry.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: Um when I was younger, um, and I'm very intuitive.
- 37:22SPEAKER_00: I hid my intuition for for almost 45 years, true.
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: And when I got messages for people, I would flip the language and I'd give the message, but you'd never know what I was doing.
- 37:33SPEAKER_00: I'd say, you know, you know what you might want to do?
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: This happened to me years ago.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: You might want to try this, this, and this.
- 37:40SPEAKER_00: It didn't happen to me years ago.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: I was hearing it.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: But, you know, back in those days, if you hear voices in your head, you're called crazy.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: So we had a meeting and event planning business way back, my husband and I, and all and Ron read an article in Entrepreneur Magazine.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: This was this was before the invention of the wheel and fire.
- 37:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was so many years ago.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: It was like 1990.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: Never mind what year it was.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: Anyways, he read an article in Entrepreneur Magazine about this very young industry called the concierge industry.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: And we were doing more of that than we were meeting planning, so we decided to flip the business.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: So within six months, I had a website going and people were making calls and we were start working, which is running errands for people.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: And all of a sudden, people started asking me, Well, what should I charge?
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: How should I set up my business?
- 38:29SPEAKER_00: And if you're not in the same town as me, I didn't see any reason to not answer them.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: So I started answering questions for free until my husband walked into the office and said, What are you doing?
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: I said, Well, I'm just asking answering questions.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: He said, Why are you doing it for free?
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: Good question.
- 38:43SPEAKER_00: Why was I?
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: So I sat down and I and I thought, maybe I should write something.
- 38:48SPEAKER_00: And in my mind, I th I think, maybe I should write a book.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: Which should I put in the book?
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: And I hear the words everything.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: Just the one word.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: I thought about it again, and then I heard the word again, everything.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: So I wrote the concierge manual, which has been through ten editions at this point, six published, some uh some revised, and that's really what started the whole thing.
- 39:12SPEAKER_00: Eventually I created a concierge association because it there was no there was no industry back then.
- 39:18SPEAKER_00: There might have been 10 concierge companies around the world when I started.
- 39:22SPEAKER_00: So I just pulled people together to form an industry.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: And I did that for almost over 20 years until 2020 when I finally decided to retire and lean into my intuitive side.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: So that's uh that's when you decided to shift from this industry to spiritual teaching and healing?
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: I did.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I did.
- 39:44SPEAKER_00: And it's not that I didn't do the intuition all my life.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: I did.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: I would teach it in workshops, but you just you I flipped it into business language.
- 39:51SPEAKER_00: So I taught forgiveness, but I would call it something else.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: And I would talk about trusting your gut, but I would try I would flip the language for to business.
- 40:00SPEAKER_00: And I did it for a very long time until finally I decided to stop hiding in a closet and uh just be my true self.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: Because remember, back in those days, teaching intuition and forgiveness was considered fluff.
- 40:14SPEAKER_00: You didn't teach those topics in a business workshop.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: You just didn't.
- 40:18SPEAKER_00: It wasn't done.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: This was 20 years ago, and people, you would be shunned.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: You also didn't have a home office.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: We didn't have them back then.
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: People would call you out if they even knew you had a home office.
- 40:30SPEAKER_00: So it was a lot of it was a lot of sleuthing on my part, but it worked for 20 years until I finally decided to come clean.
- 40:39SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: So as I know, uh Catherine, you have a course uh called get them out of your hand, right?
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: And you also do private session.
- 40:50SPEAKER_00: I do the course.
- 40:51SPEAKER_00: I'm actually revamping the course, so I took it down uh last week, so it's not it's not on right now.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: But if you go to that page on my website, there's a whole bunch of information for you right there.
- 41:02SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, I've got um on my website, which is Katherine Giovanni.com, everything is there for you.
- 41:10SPEAKER_00: There is books, there's information, and I do a lot of private sessions.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: So if you read the book, the forgiveness book, and you've you just need more information, or you just need somebody to hold your hand, absolutely do a private session with me.
- 41:26SPEAKER_00: The the the forgiveness system is a wonderful thing for couples as well.
- 41:30SPEAKER_00: But I have a I have a PSA for that.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: Okay, and if you decide if if you decide to do it with somebody, like your spouse or a friend, the only thing I ask is you make sure that person is not on your forgiveness list.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: Because that could get awkward really quick.
- 41:50SPEAKER_00: So you might want to work the system before you go in with this person, and I would also make sure that they can keep a secret because you're gonna you're you're gonna be talking about the skeletons in your closet and you don't need it advertised all over social media.
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: So make sure it's somebody you can trust.
- 42:05SPEAKER_00: But this is a really this is a really good good system for two people if you 100% trust each other.
- 42:12SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 42:13SPEAKER_01: And tell us briefly what can listeners expect on on a private session with you.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: Every private session I do is completely unique.
- 42:22SPEAKER_00: Sometimes they want business advice, sometimes they come to me with a personal problem, sometimes it's a forgiveness issue, sometimes it's just something like my client who couldn't sleep.
- 42:34SPEAKER_00: So the past life information came through.
- 42:36SPEAKER_00: I'm really intuitive.
- 42:38SPEAKER_00: Notice I'm not using the word psychic because I can't stand the word, because you think of a car salesman and a crystal ball and somebody's gonna take your money.
- 42:45SPEAKER_00: I hate I really don't like the word psychic because we're all intuitive.
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: So whatever information comes through is completely unique to the individual and what their needs are at the time.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's personal, sometimes it's some a problem they're having, but everything is unique.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: Sometimes they just want to do a personal session and we just see what comes through.
- 43:04SPEAKER_00: That happens too.
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: Something always comes through.
- 43:07SPEAKER_00: Usually it's a past life that comes through first, but something, but remember, I am not going to give you the lottery numbers.
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: It my gift doesn't work that way.
- 43:16SPEAKER_00: I wish I could, but I'm also not a crystal ball.
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: I don't tell people's futures that very rarely comes through.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: Um, so it's that's kind of not what I do.
- 43:25SPEAKER_00: I've tried to get the lottery numbers and I just can't get them.
- 43:28SPEAKER_00: It's you know?
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 43:32SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 43:33SPEAKER_01: And uh almost we're almost done.
