- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Conspiracy The Show with your hosts Adam Todd
- 0:16Speaker 1: Brown and Connor mcspad.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Hey, everybody, welcome to Conspiracy the Show. I'm Adam Todd Brown.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Who are you Hi, I'm Joe Kay Connor mcspadden. Still
- 0:39Speaker 2: as much as I wanted this public episode about the
- 0:43Speaker 2: game Mafia to be two straight white dudes riffing it up, well,
- 0:48Speaker 2: I mean on what the conspiracy means. I mean, Connor
- 0:51Speaker 2: is missing.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Connor is questionable.
- 0:53Speaker 4: Cott, do you're not completely to your like one in
- 1:00Speaker 4: three quarters straight white man.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that's an excellent point. But yeah, Connor, last we
- 1:07Speaker 2: heard he sent a text to his mom that said
- 1:10Speaker 2: he was in trouble. Some black stuff started coming out
- 1:14Speaker 2: of his mouth and he was taken to a hospital
- 1:17Speaker 2: in the Ukraine. And hopefully he'll be back on the
- 1:22Speaker 2: show soon. But the conspiracy widens as to what's happened
- 1:26Speaker 2: to Connor Maspaden. But my guest Joe Kay was also
- 1:29Speaker 2: with me last week on a Patreon exclusive Yes episode
- 1:35Speaker 2: where we talked about the lavender scare, which is a
- 1:39Speaker 2: precursor to what we're going to be talking about today,
- 1:43Speaker 2: and we'll recap that a little bit. But if you
- 1:46Speaker 2: want to really hear us talk about it.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Yeah, you want to hear his deep dive.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Yeah, there's an entire episode about it on the Patreon
- 1:52Speaker 2: Patreon dot com slash On Pops and as discussed on
- 1:55Speaker 2: last week's episode Full Disclosure, we both ate a weed
- 1:59Speaker 2: brown before we started recording.
- 2:02Speaker 4: I still have a quarter of it left that I
- 2:04Speaker 4: might just slam a jem right now.
- 2:06Speaker 2: You might as well. I mean, I ate all a
- 2:09Speaker 2: mine about ten minutes before you got here, and it's
- 2:14Speaker 2: really feeling it now. I'm feeling it. I have a
- 2:16Speaker 2: DUI class tonight. That'll be fun. But the instructor doesn't
- 2:19Speaker 2: take it seriously. Why should I.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I've got a host and open Mike. This is gonna
- 2:22Speaker 3: be great.
- 2:24Speaker 2: We'll be fine. So we're talking about the gay mafia,
- 2:28Speaker 2: which is it's it's the idea that somewhere in Hollywood
- 2:34Speaker 2: there exists a group of very powerful gay people who
- 2:38Speaker 2: will destroy your career if you cross them. And we'll
- 2:42Speaker 2: talk a little bit about I think this is something
- 2:45Speaker 2: that has its roots in the Lavender Scare, which we
- 2:48Speaker 2: did last week's episode about, and it's basically McCarthyism for
- 2:53Speaker 2: gay people. It was instead of hey, are you a communist?
- 2:57Speaker 2: If so, we're gonna find out and we're going to
- 2:59Speaker 2: fire you from your government job. It was that but
- 3:01Speaker 2: for gay people, and thousands of people lost their jobs
- 3:05Speaker 2: over it. And Joe k is struggling to get through
- 3:09Speaker 2: that brownie. It's so chewy. They are very chewy.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Yes, Oh my god, you like the fucking jaws of life. Okay, okay,
- 3:21Speaker 4: I'm here.
- 3:22Speaker 2: We're back on track.
- 3:23Speaker 3: We're back on track, and my ears are open again.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I was, and Joe Ubert here, I should add I did? Yes?
- 3:30Speaker 3: No, I I definitely, I definitely did.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I am not driving, yeah, and I record it home
- 3:35Speaker 2: so I'll be fine. Uh so, Yeah, anybody who gave
- 3:40Speaker 2: a ship about nobody fucking cares. They'd be mad. We
- 3:43Speaker 2: just didn't do a podcast while driving high.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Yeah no, oh.
- 3:53Speaker 4: You wouldn't it be really fun to have an audio
- 3:55Speaker 4: of a car accident periscope.
- 3:57Speaker 2: It man not gonna periscope ship going to the um pup.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Snapchat that doesn't exist.
- 4:03Speaker 2: It does, but we do always shit on it. Yeah,
- 4:06Speaker 2: follow us on Snapchat. Maybe we'll use it someday. If
- 4:09Speaker 2: they give us a TV show, Snapchat show, then we'll
- 4:13Speaker 2: use Snapchat. Oh, sweet. The only way we're coming to
- 4:15Speaker 2: your platform in any real way Snapchat. Yeah yeah, put
- 4:19Speaker 2: up a shut up motherfuckers.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Put our handsome faces.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah, we could talk about conspiracies on Snapchat.
- 4:26Speaker 3: We can.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what kids are into, these flatter earth slime
- 4:30Speaker 4: and conspiracy theories.
- 4:31Speaker 2: We just did a flat Earth or no, we were
- 4:33Speaker 2: going to do a flat Earth episode, but I haven't
- 4:36Speaker 2: put the research together yet.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you're going to annoy a lot of people with that.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Oh boy, NBA players, So it's true, so many.
- 4:47Speaker 3: No I know, and it's just so fucking sad.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a weird thing.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Uh, we're not talking about the NBA or flat earthers.
- 4:58Speaker 2: No, we're here too, here to talk about the gay mafia.
- 5:01Speaker 2: And if I don't get back on track, they will
- 5:03Speaker 2: ruin my career.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Yeah basically yeah, but you know, to be honest, if
- 5:07Speaker 4: we do get back on track, they might ruin my career.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Like do what, I'm another one just calling out calling
- 5:14Speaker 4: out Brian Singer.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Come get me.
- 5:18Speaker 4: This one's for the public. I hope you hear this.
- 5:21Speaker 4: You're fucking weirdo. Oh man, I'm glad I never went
- 5:25Speaker 4: to that party. I got invited to oh yikes.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Well I first moved to LA I got invited to
- 5:30Speaker 4: a Brian singer party, and I was nervous about the
- 5:33Speaker 4: amount of cocaine.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Not even the sexual predator.
- 5:35Speaker 4: I was serious about the amount of cocaine that would
- 5:37Speaker 4: be there, and feeling pure pressured into doing said cocaine.
- 5:41Speaker 3: So I said no, And.
- 5:42Speaker 4: I'm like, god damn Like I could have been locked
- 5:44Speaker 4: in a cage for eleven years and then like been
- 5:46Speaker 4: a movie stop.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, oh god damn it.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I know he got when he got tired of me.
- 5:51Speaker 4: He could have just let me out of the cage
- 5:52Speaker 4: and been like, all right, I'll put you in an
- 5:54Speaker 4: X Men movie.
- 5:55Speaker 2: That's right up there with Keith Carey's story about how
- 5:57Speaker 2: he was supposed to be on one of the nine
- 5:58Speaker 2: to eleven planes. Was that Keith Carey, I don't remember.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I think it was, Is it if not? Everyone spread
- 6:05Speaker 2: that rumor as.
- 6:06Speaker 4: If Curey's supposed to be on one of the planes
- 6:08Speaker 4: that on nine eleven when he was what like twelve
- 6:11Speaker 4: or thirteen.
- 6:12Speaker 3: I swear he he told much older than me.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I swear he told me that because I think I said, yeah,
- 6:17Speaker 2: you should have ah roast battle.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I'm just trying to think of that would be. How
- 6:24Speaker 3: does that? Why's it Keith Gary, I'll ask him. I
- 6:28Speaker 3: feel like it is.
- 6:28Speaker 4: I feel like I feel like you talk about this
- 6:30Speaker 4: on stage now that you're now that you've talked about
- 6:33Speaker 4: I'm like, yeah, you know what, that might be a
- 6:35Speaker 4: joke of his.
- 6:37Speaker 2: So, yeah, the game Mafia gay Mafia. But listen to
- 6:41Speaker 2: last week's episode or I think we we've given pretty
- 6:44Speaker 2: much the rundown as far as what the lavender scare was. Yeah,
- 6:48Speaker 2: it was McCarthyism for gay people.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Yeah, all you have to do reread the Crucible and
- 6:53Speaker 4: then just apply it to gay people instead of communists.
- 6:56Speaker 3: There you go.
- 6:56Speaker 4: You got the whole thing pretty much. What if Tittuba
- 6:59Speaker 4: was a fabulous drag.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Who worked for the State Department. I want to see
- 7:06Speaker 2: that version of the marvelous missus Masel.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Oh my god, no, Now I just want to I
- 7:11Speaker 4: need to, like, I need to find a baby drag
- 7:14Speaker 4: queen that doesn't have a name yet and be like,
- 7:15Speaker 4: you gotta be titup a crucible. Pladies and gentlemen, please
- 7:18Speaker 4: welcome to the stage titub A crucible.
- 7:21Speaker 2: That would be pretty great, right, Oh?
- 7:23Speaker 3: That is a good that's a good drag name. I
- 7:26Speaker 3: love that.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And the difference between McCarthyism and the Red Scare and
- 7:32Speaker 2: the Lavender Scare as this was called. Is this lasted
- 7:36Speaker 2: forty fucking years. Yeah, and we certainly I don't think
- 7:40Speaker 2: we're firing people for being communists in large numbers well
- 7:46Speaker 2: into the seventies and eighties and nineties and now, yeah
- 7:50Speaker 2: and now. But somehow we federally sanctioned doing that for
- 7:56Speaker 2: forty years to gay people in this country. And I
- 8:01Speaker 2: feel like the gay mafia conspiracy theory is just sort
- 8:05Speaker 2: of another way to do that. It's just another extension
- 8:11Speaker 2: of what fueled the Lavender Scare, which was, Hey, all
- 8:15Speaker 2: these gay people are having jobs and doing things. How
- 8:18Speaker 2: dare they like normal people. Let's intervene fucking dare they? Yeah?
- 8:24Speaker 2: And motherfucker's intervened, and thousands of people lost their jobs.
- 8:28Speaker 2: But eventually they like with like don't ask, don't tell,
- 8:32Speaker 2: and things like that.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I couldn't even call that, like, yeah, it's.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Like we don't want to know. That's not yeah, let's
- 8:40Speaker 2: not talk about it.
- 8:41Speaker 4: This voice is lasting, Yeah, that voice, this is just
- 8:45Speaker 4: mine because it's all started in the fifties. See it's
- 8:48Speaker 4: just now my general iwalk for the government voice.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Can we let's read everyone the quote from McCarthy, oh
- 8:56Speaker 2: off this last week's episode where oh yeah, yeah, on.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Me against the coffee ball either got to be a
- 9:02Speaker 4: communist our cocksucker. It's a great line, and it's really
- 9:07Speaker 4: good line. I could that that would be unto all
- 9:09Speaker 4: the angry men, like I feel like.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Yeah, oh absolutely. And it's crazy that this was so
- 9:17Speaker 2: much bigger in scope compared to the Red Scare, which
- 9:21Speaker 2: took down a few hundred people, but this took down
- 9:24Speaker 2: thousands over a long period of US history, and we're
- 9:28Speaker 2: just now kind of ignite. It's like the fucking Armenian
- 9:32Speaker 2: genocide where we're just now like all right, maybe it happened. Fine,
- 9:37Speaker 2: Like there's just now a documentary coming out called The
- 9:39Speaker 2: Lavender Scare, which we talked about a little bit last week.
- 9:43Speaker 2: But google around for that. It's like just doing festivals
- 9:45Speaker 2: and things right now.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm excited now for this to come out.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to see the documentary.
- 9:49Speaker 4: I'm just learning about all this, like yeah, I mean,
- 9:52Speaker 4: obviously I've heard the term gay mafia before, but like
- 9:56Speaker 4: people lavender scheduling. I had no idea that happened. I
- 9:59Speaker 4: was so excited to learn about that.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and it this just feels like an extension of that,
- 10:04Speaker 2: where it's mostly just a reaction to gay people getting
- 10:09Speaker 2: more and more rights right in this country basically, And
- 10:15Speaker 2: it's a it was a negative term basically that people.
- 10:20Speaker 2: The Wikipedia defines it as a negative term used to
- 10:23Speaker 2: describe the alleged disproportional behind the scene influence of gay
- 10:27Speaker 2: rights groups and the LGBTQ community in politics, media culture,
- 10:33Speaker 2: and everyday life. So already it sounds fucking absurd.
- 10:36Speaker 4: It's everything, politics, media culture, in everyday life is literally everything.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Yeah, So like if they wanted to pick one.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Of these things, they'd be like, you know what, you
- 10:47Speaker 4: have a leg or two to stand on, you know
- 10:49Speaker 4: what I mean.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Like if they just wanted.
- 10:51Speaker 4: To say, I mean, even though it all is absurd,
- 10:54Speaker 4: no matter what you say, but like, there, I guess
- 10:57Speaker 4: you could have even if it's a nutcase are argument,
- 11:00Speaker 4: you could still make one for like oh yeah, well
- 11:02Speaker 4: they're the gay mafia runs literally just Hollywood. And it's like,
- 11:07Speaker 4: all right, they see where you're coming from. You're wrong,
- 11:09Speaker 4: but I see where you're coming from right. But it's like, oh,
- 11:12Speaker 4: to think that we're infiltrated and we run everything out.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Everyday life is on your list, every day life, everyday life, Yes,
- 11:22Speaker 2: And you have to think that what that means to
- 11:26Speaker 2: the people who would say something like that is, oh, well,
- 11:30Speaker 2: I bought a fucking box of rice Crispies last week
- 11:34Speaker 2: and it had a fucking flag on it. It had
- 11:36Speaker 2: a rainbow flag on it.
- 11:40Speaker 4: That.
- 11:41Speaker 2: How do I explain that to my kid? It's pretty
- 11:44Speaker 2: fucking easy to explain that to your kid if you're
- 11:47Speaker 2: not a goddamn monster. Holy shit. But I have to
- 11:51Speaker 2: think that's kind of what they mean. It's like, why
- 11:54Speaker 2: are gay people allowed to be gay in public?
- 11:57Speaker 3: Yeah? Why are they allowed to be part of my life?
- 12:00Speaker 2: Yeah? Which, goddamn yeah, what a footing to start your
- 12:05Speaker 2: conspiracy theory off right. It's gonna be really hard to
- 12:09Speaker 2: get the Centrists over to your side starting with some
- 12:13Speaker 2: shit like that. So there was an early use of
- 12:16Speaker 2: the term. English critic Kenneth Tynan proposed an article to
- 12:21Speaker 2: Playboy editor ac spec Torski in late nineteen sixty seven
- 12:27Speaker 2: on the homosexual mafia in the arts. Spec Torski ac Spectorski.
- 12:36Speaker 4: It was is that's uh the Oh damn it. I
- 12:40Speaker 4: had it and then it went away. I had the
- 12:43Speaker 4: wording and then it went away. It was something about, oh,
- 12:46Speaker 4: is that saved by the bell in Russia? Something like that,
- 12:49Speaker 4: something to the effect of it's Mario Lopez's Russian equivalent.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Oh maybe because Slater was pretty cool and Playboy passed
- 12:59Speaker 2: on the art article.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Oh good, yeah, oh.
- 13:03Speaker 2: How progressive for Playboy. Hey, but I also I feel.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Like they've like as problematic as Playboy is, they've always
- 13:09Speaker 4: been I guess, about an inch ahead of the curb,
- 13:12Speaker 4: you know, like just a little bit, just ever so slightly.
- 13:15Speaker 4: It's like, okay, like, I guess you were doing some
- 13:18Speaker 4: cool things.
- 13:19Speaker 2: No, let me let me read you Ac Spectorsky's quote.
- 13:22Speaker 2: I don't know if this is like even an N
- 13:24Speaker 2: word situation. You read it, man, Oh my god.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I'm glad you're letting me say this. This
- 13:32Speaker 4: is what he said, quote, culture hounds were paying homage
- 13:36Speaker 4: to the Fagatismo as they never have done before.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Wow. That was his. When he turned it down, he
- 13:45Speaker 2: was like, yeah, but I mean you're onto something, kid.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Maybe in a few years.
- 13:51Speaker 4: The word faggatismo. Oh my god, that is I love that.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Oh wow, yeah, that's a pretty amazing one.
- 13:59Speaker 4: I need to make make sure that I am presenting
- 14:01Speaker 4: a proper amount of effect faggatismo on a daily basis.
- 14:06Speaker 2: That's oh yes, Yeah, that feels like a word you
- 14:08Speaker 2: could just take and own.
- 14:09Speaker 3: That's gonna Oh yeah, no, I'm taking it. That's good.
- 14:11Speaker 3: That's my new.
- 14:12Speaker 4: That's gonna be my new, like first album. That's gonna
- 14:15Speaker 4: be my new fem like hashtag fem life. I'm gonna
- 14:18Speaker 4: be like hashtag hashtag faggatism honey.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Hell yeah. It was used in the seventies a few
- 14:24Speaker 2: times by journalist Stephen Gaines, and.
- 14:27Speaker 3: This iver sind my opinion about blameboy now, by.
- 14:29Speaker 2: The way, oh Playboy's trash. I worked there for a
- 14:31Speaker 2: few years.
- 14:32Speaker 4: I tried to be like the cool like the cool
- 14:34Speaker 4: guy who was like, yeah, I guess it's kind of like,
- 14:37Speaker 4: you know.
- 14:37Speaker 3: They're kind of no, okay, So I resinned all of that.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they're shitty. Journalist Stephen Gaines used the term,
- 14:43Speaker 2: but he used it more in not really a derogatory way.
- 14:48Speaker 2: He was talking about like all the people who hung
- 14:50Speaker 2: out at Studio fifty four, and he was using it
- 14:53Speaker 2: more in it's just a loose social collective or like
- 14:59Speaker 2: a social click of people who all happen to be
- 15:02Speaker 2: gay and have a lot of power. And he just
- 15:05Speaker 2: called it the gay mafia.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Like just is like an in passing, like silly little nickname.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, which, like there, what there's a bunch of country
- 15:12Speaker 2: music groups who call themselves the music mafia.
- 15:14Speaker 3: I'll be honest with you.
- 15:15Speaker 4: I don't hate that, you know, I'm like, you know
- 15:18Speaker 4: that that's not bad.
- 15:20Speaker 3: There's nothing.
- 15:21Speaker 2: It's just acknowledging that they all are powerful people who
- 15:25Speaker 2: hang out together.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Which yeah, no, fine, like that's there's I don't think
- 15:29Speaker 4: the that entomolog entomoloic etymologymology, etymology, Yeah, entomology is what
- 15:35Speaker 4: bugs Yeah yeah. The etymology of that isn't like rooted
- 15:39Speaker 4: in hatred.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Yeah, so where it starts to kind of be rooted
- 15:44Speaker 2: in that is one thing that happened. There was a
- 15:48Speaker 2: two thousand and two Vanity Fair interview. Brian Burrows was
- 15:54Speaker 2: the writer of the article. He did the interview, and
- 15:56Speaker 2: I mentioned that just because we have a podcast called
- 15:59Speaker 2: Misfortune that we interviewed him on for the first episode
- 16:04Speaker 2: which was about Lou Pearlman, which, oh boy, man, is
- 16:08Speaker 2: that a crazy story? Whoa, And it's a really fun episode,
- 16:12Speaker 2: like it gets it like Brian Burrow, Brian Burrows broke
- 16:16Speaker 2: the Lou Pearlman pedophilia story, Yeah, which is nuts because
- 16:22Speaker 2: like everyone he had already like people knew he was
- 16:25Speaker 2: laundering money shit like that, but people were like, no, he.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Was a shitty person. We had no idea. He was
- 16:31Speaker 3: like a monster, like a tried and true monster.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Yeah. And Brian Burrows is the guy who broke that story.
- 16:38Speaker 2: That's incredible, And we interviewed him for that episode, so
- 16:40Speaker 2: people should go check that out.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Yeah for real, that's wow. That's fucking cool.
- 16:44Speaker 2: And he interviewed this Michael Ovitz. Guy. Let me pull
- 16:49Speaker 2: up the article. It's on Vanity Ferre. It's from two
- 16:53Speaker 2: thousand and two. So this this was one of the
- 16:56Speaker 2: first places where the idea of a game operating in
- 17:01Speaker 2: Hollywood kind of came to the public light in our
- 17:06Speaker 2: like in the modern age, I guess. I mean, all
- 17:09Speaker 2: the stuff we mentioned before was the modern age. You
- 17:11Speaker 2: know what the fuck? I mean? People listening at home,
- 17:14Speaker 2: God damn it, you get it? Yeah, come on, But fuckers,
- 17:19Speaker 2: go out and read this article. It's on vanity fair
- 17:22Speaker 2: dot com. It's called Ovitz agonistes What and it's written
- 17:27Speaker 2: by Brian Burrow. Shout out to him, and this Michael
- 17:30Speaker 2: Ovitz he was. He started this artist management group, which
- 17:35Speaker 2: was a company that he invested a lot of money in.
- 17:38Speaker 2: He was this high powered agent or manager and represented
- 17:42Speaker 2: all these people like Leo DiCaprio, like really big actors
- 17:46Speaker 2: and shit. And he started this new company that just
- 17:51Speaker 2: failed really hard. He invested like one hundred million dollars
- 17:55Speaker 2: in it and eventually sold it for twelve million. Oh yeah,
- 18:00Speaker 2: and uh that's He gives this interview in two thousand
- 18:06Speaker 2: and two to Brian Burrows and kind of he doesn't imply,
- 18:10Speaker 2: He just flat out says that this huge group of
- 18:16Speaker 2: gay executives in Hollywood basically conspired to destroy his career.
- 18:23Speaker 2: And he goes on to call them the gay mafia
- 18:26Speaker 2: and names names, and he says so much crazy shit
- 18:32Speaker 2: that Brian Burrows kicks off the article talking about how
- 18:37Speaker 2: most of what he said about people like Michael Eisner
- 18:41Speaker 2: and you know, people he had worked at with at CIA,
- 18:45Speaker 2: all of these people like he says unspeakable things that
- 18:50Speaker 2: Brian Burrows will not publish, and the stuff he does
- 18:53Speaker 2: publish is basically Michael Ovitt saying, Hey, there's this gay
- 18:57Speaker 2: mafia that if you cross them in any way, including
- 19:01Speaker 2: you just ran a business and that they invested in
- 19:03Speaker 2: and you failed. Because I don't think this isn't a
- 19:05Speaker 2: case of him like having said something homophobic. It was
- 19:11Speaker 2: more him he started a company that a lot of
- 19:14Speaker 2: people invested in and it failed, and he was like, well,
- 19:17Speaker 2: because of that, this gay mafia is out to destroy
- 19:21Speaker 2: yourself a capegoat exactly. And that's one of the first
- 19:25Speaker 2: places that this idea surfaces. And it's like if every
- 19:29Speaker 2: instance of it was that, I'd be like, Wow, maybe
- 19:35Speaker 2: if it was just you fucked up a business deal
- 19:39Speaker 2: and now a bunch of really powerful people make sure
- 19:41Speaker 2: you never work again, I could see that, Like, that's
- 19:45Speaker 2: not that crazy of a thing. But what it's morphed
- 19:48Speaker 2: into now and even that's kind of fucking crazy, Like,
- 19:51Speaker 2: and we still haven't seen the things he didn't get published.
- 19:55Speaker 2: But what it's kind of morphed into now is, oh, well,
- 20:00Speaker 2: I said this homophobic thing or I supported this homophobic cause,
- 20:04Speaker 2: and now people don't want to work with me, there's
- 20:06Speaker 2: a gay mafia, which that's like like if you said
- 20:11Speaker 2: something super racist and you got fired from your job
- 20:14Speaker 2: for it, you wouldn't come out and be like, oh,
- 20:17Speaker 2: there's a black mafia.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Well didn't they did.
- 20:19Speaker 4: They did a whole thirty Rock about that. They did
- 20:22Speaker 4: a whole Rock episode about like the idea. Well, actually
- 20:26Speaker 4: it was a story arc where Tracy Morgan's character he's
- 20:31Speaker 4: convinced that the black mafia is out to get him
- 20:33Speaker 4: and like oh shit, yeah yeah yeah, and like the
- 20:36Speaker 4: whole guy is that it is true? Oh they really
- 20:39Speaker 4: they are out to get him. I forget the reason,
- 20:41Speaker 4: like why they're out to get him? I completely forgot.
- 20:46Speaker 4: But it's like, oh yeah, it's like run By. Ironically,
- 20:49Speaker 4: at the time Bill Cosby was like that.
- 20:51Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, what if the rape thing
- 20:54Speaker 2: was just one mafia executing a hit on the other?
- 20:58Speaker 4: Right, Oh god, bless thirty Rock is they were They
- 21:01Speaker 4: did that. They were the first. I mean, hell they did.
- 21:04Speaker 3: They did that joke about Cosby.
- 21:07Speaker 2: They were joking about it way before you couldn't joke
- 21:10Speaker 2: about Cosby rape.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, wow yeah. What they had some fucking scoops.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Yeah, they really, they really had a lot of fun,
- 21:23Speaker 4: like with that one.
- 21:24Speaker 3: I love that they did that.
- 21:26Speaker 4: And then I remember they also did the thing where
- 21:29Speaker 4: like where it was like a parallel to when Tracy
- 21:32Speaker 4: Morgan did those homophobic jokes and his stand up, and
- 21:35Speaker 4: then they paralleled that into the show where it is like,
- 21:39Speaker 4: why did you have to go and piss off the Gaze?
- 21:41Speaker 4: They're the most organized of all the groups, And I'm like, yeah,
- 21:46Speaker 4: you know what, she has a fucking point happened in
- 21:49Speaker 4: real life?
- 21:49Speaker 3: Oh boy, did we activate?
- 21:52Speaker 2: And like what's crazy to me is wouldn't you expect that? Like,
- 21:57Speaker 2: wouldn't you expect if you say a bunch of homophobic shit,
- 22:00Speaker 2: most of the gay people in Hollywood aren't gonna want
- 22:03Speaker 2: to work with you.
- 22:04Speaker 3: But jokes, jokes.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah, all jokes. I forget just joke, just jokes.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I didn't say they were good jokes,
- 22:14Speaker 3: but it's.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Just jokes, yeah, or what if it? But sometimes it's politics.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Because one of the other instances of this happening, aside
- 22:23Speaker 2: from Michael Ovitz, which was in two thousand and two,
- 22:25Speaker 2: in two thousand and eight, what hey, what just popped up?
- 22:32Speaker 4: I think like a newsletter, a newsletter Dailly Insider Entertainment news. Okay, okay, okay,
- 22:39Speaker 4: that makes sense. It's oh god, I can't remember his name. Yeah,
- 22:43Speaker 4: from Black Panther, Black Panther.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Yeah, they heard what we were talking about, like hey, hey, hey, hey,
- 22:49Speaker 2: easy Style, that ship back to white Black Mafia.
- 22:55Speaker 4: Yeah, bla, no, God damn it. They're gonna go to
- 23:00Speaker 4: war with the Game Mafia. Now, it's gonna be a
- 23:02Speaker 4: whole thing. Andy Cohen and King Takala are gonna go
- 23:05Speaker 4: to'challa Tokala to'challa. Yep, one of those. Oh boy, I
- 23:10Speaker 4: feel bad.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Now, Oh I feel bad knowing the Black Mafia has
- 23:14Speaker 2: been listening this whole time.
- 23:15Speaker 4: I remember his fucking name. That annoys me that I
- 23:17Speaker 4: can't remember his name.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Uh so. Yeah. There was another case in twenty fourteen.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Bill Maher was responding to the firing of a man
- 23:30Speaker 2: name Brendan Ike, which you're not gonna get a lot
- 23:35Speaker 2: of sympathy with the last name like Ike. I'm just
- 23:37Speaker 2: thinking Nazi. Yeah right now, I'm already thinking Nazi. Shit.
- 23:41Speaker 2: He was appointed as the new CEO of Mozilla.
- 23:45Speaker 3: He's really lucky.
- 23:46Speaker 4: He's like his father and his grandfather didn't share the
- 23:49Speaker 4: same name.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Ike the Third, the Thirdike.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yeah, ooh boy, Oh man, that would have been all.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Brendan Ike the Third Ooh boy, could you imagine? Wow.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Honestly, at that point I would sort of sympathize with
- 24:05Speaker 4: him for that name, like, ooh boy, that's a rough
- 24:07Speaker 4: name to have. Yeah, it's a rough name to have,
- 24:09Speaker 4: especially if you.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Want to be in media at all. Like, oh boy,
- 24:13Speaker 3: you literally have third Ike in there.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Oh boy, No.
- 24:16Speaker 3: One's going to want to work with that.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Yeah, you crossed the Jewish mafia at birth, oh boy,
- 24:24Speaker 2: Oh god.
- 24:24Speaker 3: And we definitely know that they's that's real. That's one, and.
- 24:29Speaker 4: That's you know, I can say as a gay person
- 24:32Speaker 4: that the gay mafia doesn't exist, but I could say
- 24:34Speaker 4: he's a Jewish person, that the Jewish one for sure.
- 24:37Speaker 4: Like we we for sure run just the way that
- 24:41Speaker 4: we ran the women's clothing industry in like the nineteen fifties,
- 24:47Speaker 4: we all, we all ran the garment and we ran
- 24:50Speaker 4: the garment district. In the jewelry district.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Who took it over from you?
- 24:54Speaker 3: I can't.
- 24:55Speaker 4: I know, there's still a hell a lot of Jewish
- 24:58Speaker 4: jewelers in Manhattan. That's like for sure, yeah you still
- 25:02Speaker 4: you still hear that and like whispers in like Italian
- 25:05Speaker 4: like family got togethers and they'll be like.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Oh, you got to get an engagement ring. Go take
- 25:08Speaker 3: it to the Jews. Go take it to the Jews.
- 25:11Speaker 3: They'll give you a good price. Yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 2: So, so Ike, the third, the third Ike, he got
- 25:19Speaker 2: fired almost and now his name is the third he's
- 25:22Speaker 2: the third Ike now. Almost immediately after getting that job,
- 25:27Speaker 2: he got fired after it was revealed that he donated
- 25:30Speaker 2: one thousand dollars to support Proposition eight, which was the
- 25:35Speaker 2: the the bill that overturned legalizing same sex marriage in
- 25:39Speaker 2: the state of California, which I point that out all
- 25:43Speaker 2: the time when people bring up how liberal California. Oh yeah, Oh,
- 25:47Speaker 2: Iowa never overturned same sex marriage and they did it
- 25:50Speaker 2: before California. Yeah.
- 25:52Speaker 4: I remember I went to a lot of equal marriage
- 25:56Speaker 4: like rallies in New York when I was a teenager,
- 25:59Speaker 4: and I remember like a really big point of discussion
- 26:02Speaker 4: was like, how can we live in this in New
- 26:06Speaker 4: York City where Iowa has done it before us. Yeah,
- 26:11Speaker 4: that was a huge part of the conversation where it
- 26:14Speaker 4: was just like this fucking and it was kind of
- 26:17Speaker 4: elitist to be, to be honest, because they're like this
- 26:19Speaker 4: podunk motherfucking state.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Well before us, It's like, yeah.
- 26:23Speaker 4: Because there's a lot of fucking enlightened college students there.
- 26:26Speaker 3: That's the thing.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It's that, But it's also in this I don't know
- 26:31Speaker 2: if well, I also.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Know a lot of people that are I know, I
- 26:33Speaker 4: have a couple of like friends, like locals of Iowa
- 26:36Speaker 4: that are probably some of the most progressive people I've
- 26:39Speaker 4: ever Oh no.
- 26:39Speaker 2: For sure. Yeah, there's definitely that because the very there's
- 26:42Speaker 2: like three colleges.
- 26:43Speaker 4: I feel like it's a very also like live and
- 26:44Speaker 4: let live state. Ye, Like it's very like who cares?
- 26:47Speaker 4: It's very who cares?
- 26:48Speaker 2: I grew up in Peoria, Illinois, Like right, Okay. But
- 26:52Speaker 2: there's also and I don't know if people are still
- 26:54Speaker 2: calling this a conspiracy or just acknowledging that it happened,
- 26:58Speaker 2: but a lot of why Opposition eight passed in California
- 27:04Speaker 2: and why it wouldn't have passed somewhere like Iowa is
- 27:07Speaker 2: there are not enough black people in Iowa. What happened
- 27:11Speaker 2: in California when Proposition eight passed is Mormons started targeting
- 27:18Speaker 2: black voters who we knew were going to come out
- 27:21Speaker 2: because Obama was running in his first election, and they
- 27:25Speaker 2: came out and voted for Obama in California. But also
- 27:29Speaker 2: a lot of black people voted for Proposition eight because
- 27:33Speaker 2: there is a lot of homophobia in the black community.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Oh for sure.
- 27:38Speaker 2: And it's an uncomfortable thing to Like I tried to
- 27:42Speaker 2: put that in a Playboy article and they were like,
- 27:44Speaker 2: that's never been proven. It's like, yeah, it kind of has.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean it's like statistically they like well,
- 27:54Speaker 4: also not even just black people, but like like people
- 27:58Speaker 4: of color in general, they're also to be like an
- 28:01Speaker 4: x that extra level of oh my god, you're already
- 28:04Speaker 4: marginalized once and like you're going to be marginalized again, right,
- 28:08Speaker 4: Like so there's always that point of contention, Like I've noticed,
- 28:13Speaker 4: you know, in any of my friends that are any
- 28:16Speaker 4: kind of person of color, they they're coming out stories
- 28:19Speaker 4: have always tended to be a little bit more rough
- 28:22Speaker 4: than many of the white white people that I've spoken to.
- 28:25Speaker 4: And not not to say that there haven't been many
- 28:29Speaker 4: tragic fucking coming out stories of white people to their family,
- 28:32Speaker 4: oh of course, but like.
- 28:33Speaker 3: It's it and a community if.
- 28:37Speaker 4: If like say like for I mean and I was great,
- 28:39Speaker 4: but say of my family, and they were really cool
- 28:43Speaker 4: for what it was worth when I came out, but like,
- 28:45Speaker 4: had they kind of ditched me or abandoned me, there
- 28:47Speaker 4: was still a huge community of white gay people that
- 28:52Speaker 4: would have embraced me and been like, well, where your
- 28:54Speaker 4: family now, whereas like that community gets even smaller when
- 28:59Speaker 4: you bring it to like the.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Black gay community, which is super much.
- 29:04Speaker 4: I mean again, there's so much racism in the gay
- 29:06Speaker 4: community on in general.
- 29:08Speaker 3: It's yeah, yeah, that's a whole other.
- 29:11Speaker 2: It's almost as if it's you're just like people like
- 29:15Speaker 2: the rest of the world, where it's.
- 29:17Speaker 4: Just as if people he's just equally as terrible as
- 29:21Speaker 4: straight white people most of the time.
- 29:23Speaker 2: You know, it's it's yeah, and what's We're getting a
- 29:29Speaker 2: little off track. But I feel like it's a thing
- 29:32Speaker 2: Trump is counting on, is that.
- 29:33Speaker 3: He's counting on infighting and it's working.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's it's definitely working. Oh depressing. So this,
- 29:42Speaker 2: I feel like, is a different sort of example where
- 29:47Speaker 2: this feels like exactly what should happen, Like if you
- 29:51Speaker 2: were working with this guy and you're a gay person.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Maybe you're married now and you find out that your
- 30:00Speaker 2: new boss donated money to a cause meant to keep
- 30:04Speaker 2: you from getting married because he thinks you shouldn't have
- 30:08Speaker 2: that right because you're not as much of a person
- 30:10Speaker 2: as everyone else. Why the fuck wouldn't people band together
- 30:14Speaker 2: and be like, fuck, no, we don't want to work
- 30:16Speaker 2: with that guy.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Yeah, fuck that.
- 30:17Speaker 2: And I feel like I'm sure a lot of this
- 30:19Speaker 2: didn't come from a gay mafia. It probably just came
- 30:22Speaker 2: from gay employees at Mozilla who are like what the fuck,
- 30:26Speaker 2: Like you have to fucking fire that guy again.
- 30:29Speaker 4: And it's also like that foreseeable thing of like, okay,
- 30:32Speaker 4: so if he has these views about gay people, like
- 30:36Speaker 4: who's to say like that this doesn't run deeper? And
- 30:38Speaker 4: like right if it comes out, and like not only
- 30:40Speaker 4: is a homophobe, but what if it turns out in
- 30:42Speaker 4: five years he's a fucking raging racist, Like yeah, what
- 30:45Speaker 4: if it turns out in five years he hates all
- 30:47Speaker 4: Korean people, you know what I mean? Like it's it's
- 30:49Speaker 4: like the yeah, if anybody were to do the exact
- 30:54Speaker 4: same thing to any anti group of anybody, like they
- 30:58Speaker 4: would immediately be like fin, So why should it against
- 31:04Speaker 4: gay people. Yeah, why why should it not get equal
- 31:06Speaker 4: fucking response?
- 31:07Speaker 2: Yeah, like if he had donated that thousand dollars to
- 31:11Speaker 2: the KKK, it was just about, you know, not to
- 31:13Speaker 2: keep going back to the most obvious example. Yeah, he'd
- 31:16Speaker 2: be fired fucking immediately.
- 31:17Speaker 4: You want to say, how about Westboro Baptist Church? Yeah,
- 31:20Speaker 4: there you go, Yeah, there's one. He would be like,
- 31:22Speaker 4: why wasn't he fired? That's super gay, that's super like
- 31:26Speaker 4: anti gay? Oh yeah, yeah, I say, oh, wait, that's
- 31:28Speaker 4: not an apt comparison, because we're trying to find equal
- 31:32Speaker 4: hatred for something other than Yeah.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Well yeah, but that I feel like the Westboro Baptist
- 31:37Speaker 2: Church is.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Just hatred in general. Yeah, I feel like, well that
- 31:41Speaker 4: that's a really that is a different case.
- 31:44Speaker 2: But yeah, I I don't So that's why I don't
- 31:48Speaker 2: get Let's listen to Bill Maher's response here, which I
- 31:54Speaker 2: feel like.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Do we have to actually listen to him?
- 31:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we're gonna do it. Oh god, damn it only
- 32:00Speaker 2: are two minutes? Is that?
- 32:02Speaker 1: Nas? What do you think of the Mozilla CEO having
- 32:05Speaker 1: to step down over his donation to pro Proposition eight group? Yeah,
- 32:10Speaker 1: the Mozilla, which I'm wearing right now. By the way,
- 32:13Speaker 1: I didn't know.
- 32:14Speaker 2: What Mozilla was.
- 32:15Speaker 1: I saw it on my computer, but it's it's Firefox, right.
- 32:21Speaker 1: So this guy apparently.
- 32:22Speaker 2: I'm too old to know how the internet works. You're not.
- 32:24Speaker 1: And he had to step down. What do you think
- 32:27Speaker 1: of that? The question is because he gave one thousand
- 32:30Speaker 1: dollars eight years ago and it's come back to hornim well.
- 32:33Speaker 4: And he gave it when President Obama still was against
- 32:35Speaker 4: game mariage, So I don't think it's very fair.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Good point. Also, I think there is a game off here.
- 32:43Speaker 1: I think if you cross them, you do get I really.
- 32:50Speaker 2: That Okay? Well is he joking?
- 32:53Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 32:53Speaker 2: What will it take? And he turned to Nas and
- 32:56Speaker 2: was like, right, like, is he joking there?
- 33:00Speaker 3: Fucking idiot?
- 33:01Speaker 2: Yeah. We talked about this a little bit.
- 33:02Speaker 3: I haven't watched Bill Maher.
- 33:04Speaker 4: I haven't watched like a single second or of Bill
- 33:06Speaker 4: Maher in.
- 33:08Speaker 3: Two three years.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Yeah, And oh my.
- 33:10Speaker 4: God, did that just trigger the fuck out of me
- 33:12Speaker 4: because it's just like his voice is so grating on
- 33:16Speaker 4: my soul now, like and I never if you would
- 33:19Speaker 4: ask sixteen or seventeen year old Joe, like ten eleven
- 33:23Speaker 4: years ago, Oh my god, when you were in your
- 33:25Speaker 4: late twenties. You're the sound of Bill Maher is gonna
- 33:29Speaker 4: fill you with rage. I mean no, he's the voice
- 33:32Speaker 4: of the people.
- 33:35Speaker 3: He's doing ninet. Oh my god, fucking idiot. Oh god.
- 33:40Speaker 4: I hate him just as much as I hate seventeen
- 33:43Speaker 4: year old meet being super into him.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Uh yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 2: And I can't really tell there if he's just I mean,
- 33:50Speaker 2: he's joking obviously, but is he joking. It's like he
- 33:53Speaker 2: meant that, he's not. Like it seemed like he meant
- 33:56Speaker 2: what he's saying.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Right, Like the only reason he laughed it off is
- 34:01Speaker 4: because the audience laughed.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:03Speaker 3: He was saying in like under his mother, like you.
- 34:05Speaker 4: Know what, I think that this does exist. Like maybe
- 34:08Speaker 4: it's an unpopular opinion, but I think this exists. And
- 34:12Speaker 4: people are like, ahaaa, Bil and he's like, uh yeah,
- 34:15Speaker 4: I got some joking.
- 34:17Speaker 2: And that's not cam. That's why this just feels like
- 34:20Speaker 2: an extension of all the shit that happened from the
- 34:23Speaker 2: fifties through the nineties, where it's.
- 34:27Speaker 4: If the gay mafia was reall, he wouldn't have a
- 34:29Speaker 4: fucking TV show anymore.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Yeah, no, shit, seriously, Yeah, that's a that's an excellent point,
- 34:37Speaker 2: and it's like it's just people wanting to know why
- 34:42Speaker 2: they can't just openly hate gay people anymore, Like why
- 34:47Speaker 2: isn't that still okay? And I feel like there are
- 34:51Speaker 2: when it comes to that issue, especially, there are a
- 34:54Speaker 2: lot of liberal leaning people who are still kind of
- 34:57Speaker 2: struggling with that and still like, why can't we That
- 35:02Speaker 2: word was just a joke when we were kids. Why
- 35:04Speaker 2: can't we just keep saying it? And it's like things change, man,
- 35:08Speaker 2: like society changes. People frown on different things.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Is the thing.
- 35:13Speaker 4: I Am not gonna sit here and tell you you
- 35:17Speaker 4: can't say the word when you're in private by your.
- 35:19Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 35:20Speaker 4: You know what I mean, Like if you want to
- 35:22Speaker 4: say it the same way the same time I say
- 35:24Speaker 4: it when I'm playing fucking PlayStation, when I'm playing Overwatch
- 35:28Speaker 4: and somebody annoys me, and I don't say it on Mike.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I say it to myself.
- 35:31Speaker 2: At a call.
- 35:32Speaker 3: FUCKT, let's go. That's hey, no one's hearing me. No
- 35:37Speaker 3: one's hearing me. It's like, no one's gonna care.
- 35:39Speaker 4: It's when you start saying it out loud all over
- 35:42Speaker 4: the fucking place like an asshole. Are people gonna be like, hey,
- 35:45Speaker 4: maybe you shouldn't say that in public.
- 35:48Speaker 2: I do. I do a bit on stage about smoking
- 35:52Speaker 2: and racism, but it's kind of the same thing where
- 35:55Speaker 2: it's sort of like smoking. Yeah, we all you used
- 35:57Speaker 2: to be able to smoke any anywhere. You could smoke
- 36:00Speaker 2: at the doctor's office.
- 36:02Speaker 4: This.
- 36:03Speaker 2: But eventually we were like, this is bad. What we're
- 36:05Speaker 2: doing is bad and we should stop. And most of
- 36:07Speaker 2: us stopped, but some people were like, hey, man, what
- 36:10Speaker 2: about my personal freedom? And we were like, fine, you
- 36:12Speaker 2: can still do it, but do it at home, like, yeah,
- 36:16Speaker 2: do it where it doesn't impact other people, Like you
- 36:19Speaker 2: still you hang all the fucking Nazi posters on your
- 36:23Speaker 2: wall you want, just don't take it to the street to.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Flip that coin around and say like, well, then why
- 36:29Speaker 4: can't homosexual people keep that lifestyle in private in their home?
- 36:35Speaker 4: You know it's there because to them, it's still a
- 36:37Speaker 4: goddamn choice. Yeah, No matter how many times Lady Gaga
- 36:41Speaker 4: says it, they still think it's a.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Choice, Yes, exactly.
- 36:45Speaker 4: So therefore we're choosing to live this lifestyle in their
- 36:49Speaker 4: face where it's like, you know, we're just living and fucking.
- 36:53Speaker 2: And the like. At least with the smoking argument. For sure,
- 36:58Speaker 2: smoking around people can and impact them, Like if a
- 37:02Speaker 2: person has asthma, there's all sorts of reasons it can physically,
- 37:06Speaker 2: all sorts of reasons why you should want to segregate
- 37:11Speaker 2: smokers from most of society, right, And I'm sorry, but
- 37:15Speaker 2: that you can make the same argument for racists. Can
- 37:18Speaker 2: fucking homophobes like you?
- 37:21Speaker 4: To be honest, We'll throw sexism in there as well.
- 37:23Speaker 4: Let's sort that out. Let's throw any kind of ism,
- 37:26Speaker 4: you know.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Like, if it's impacting other people's quality of life, you
- 37:29Speaker 2: need to keep that ship where it can only impact yours,
- 37:34Speaker 2: like fucking in the Either that or take it to
- 37:37Speaker 2: a park. Man, get a license, take it to a park,
- 37:40Speaker 2: something like that. But keep that ship out of our
- 37:43Speaker 2: restaurants and our fucking buses and our subways. That's all.
- 37:48Speaker 4: But if you got a Swaska tattoo on your head, fantastic,
- 37:50Speaker 4: wear a hat.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, wear a hat. I don't want to have
- 37:54Speaker 3: to fucking see that.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fucked up because Nazis, Like Nazism hurts people.
- 38:01Speaker 2: What the fuck is gay people existing hurting? Like it's not.
- 38:05Speaker 4: Their fragile psyche yeh, Yeah, you're fragile snowflake psyche is Adam.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that's in that like that, what else
- 38:13Speaker 2: could it be? Like, It's just it's very it's fucking frustrating.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:18Speaker 2: But the gay mafia exists.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Oh, it exists.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and so Bill Maher definitely thinks so, and.
- 38:25Speaker 4: You will get wagged, get it wagged like a hand job,
- 38:29Speaker 4: fucking idiot.
- 38:31Speaker 2: So he seems to believe that a gay mafia exists.
- 38:35Speaker 2: I think this Adam Carolla example is really interesting because.
- 38:41Speaker 3: This is a really interesting example.
- 38:44Speaker 2: The article we're reading this from on the Rap and
- 38:49Speaker 2: it TheWrap dot com w R A P. And the
- 38:54Speaker 2: headline says, Adam Carolla on gay Mafia, it runs Hollywood
- 38:58Speaker 2: and makes comedian lives suck, which I don't know.
- 39:02Speaker 4: I feel like I've improved the life of all of
- 39:04Speaker 4: my fellow comics, and at least that's what they tell me.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know what he said in particular. Oh,
- 39:11Speaker 2: he made a joke about Chaz Bono and and his
- 39:14Speaker 2: point is what are we as a society if we
- 39:18Speaker 2: can't make jokes about Chaz Bono and how Chas Bono looks.
- 39:24Speaker 2: And that's so.
- 39:28Speaker 4: We can Yeah, and like this is this is always
- 39:34Speaker 4: like that, this is that moral gray area with it all,
- 39:37Speaker 4: Like if it's good, if it's a good joke, a
- 39:41Speaker 4: good joke, right, no one's gonna fucking care, Like how
- 39:44Speaker 4: many like this is really poignant for right now because
- 39:47Speaker 4: right now there's all of these stories about comedian uh
- 39:51Speaker 4: and Rose battler Robin Tran that are going around about like, see,
- 39:55Speaker 4: and this is how you appropriately make jokes about transgender
- 39:59Speaker 4: p and this. She's like, this is how you do it, right,
- 40:03Speaker 4: this is how you get it done. And her special
- 40:05Speaker 4: just came out too, and like there's a lot of
- 40:07Speaker 4: you know, jokes about being a trans woman in there,
- 40:10Speaker 4: and it's like, this is how you talk about it
- 40:11Speaker 4: because she roast battled Alex Duong, who obviously, if you're
- 40:15Speaker 4: gonna roast battle.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Like it's you go for the low blow. That's the
- 40:18Speaker 3: whole point of it.
- 40:19Speaker 4: And obviously he took low blows at Robin's appearance, this
- 40:23Speaker 4: and that. But like they were good jokes, right, good
- 40:27Speaker 4: jokes that She's like, yeah, that's good, that's a good joke.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Well, I think there's a difference between a joke about
- 40:34Speaker 2: a person's appearance and like I can see how you
- 40:38Speaker 2: can make a joke about someone's appearance and not make
- 40:41Speaker 2: it about that. Yeah, like and that that's kind of
- 40:45Speaker 2: the point, and I feel like people fall afoul of that,
- 40:49Speaker 2: and then it becomes this where, oh, there's this fucking
- 40:52Speaker 2: gay mafia that won't let us say the things we
- 40:56Speaker 2: want to say. And it's like you said it, like
- 40:58Speaker 2: like Adam Carolla said it, and he's still got a
- 41:00Speaker 2: SA podcast. Yeah, like what the fuck?
- 41:03Speaker 4: What?
- 41:03Speaker 2: Like what happened? That was so bad? And like people
- 41:08Speaker 2: like there's you're allowed to say things, but there's consequences
- 41:11Speaker 2: for things. But apparently Adam Krola does believe there is
- 41:17Speaker 2: a gay mafia. We learn in this article though, that
- 41:21Speaker 2: it doesn't necessarily mean he has a problem with gay people.
- 41:28Speaker 3: I think he does.
- 41:29Speaker 4: If I think I think he kind of does, I
- 41:32Speaker 4: don't have a problem with it. They've just turned into
- 41:35Speaker 4: a mafia and demanding everyone apologize for every joke and
- 41:38Speaker 4: retract every statement.
- 41:40Speaker 3: That's not that's not true.
- 41:42Speaker 4: No, that's one that's just bottom line not true.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Yeah, because there are people out there, like I think
- 41:48Speaker 2: Anthony Jesselnik is a good example example of someone who
- 41:53Speaker 2: writes jokes that if like the uninformed observer would look
- 41:58Speaker 2: at him and go, well, why is this. I'm not
- 42:00Speaker 2: getting in trouble because people who recognize comedy recognize good comedy, like.
- 42:07Speaker 4: The say another I feel like another kind of more
- 42:10Speaker 4: like on the nose example is like Jim Norton. They're
- 42:12Speaker 4: like somebody who makes he like openly uses still uses
- 42:17Speaker 4: the word tranny to my knowledge, which I don't know
- 42:21Speaker 4: if he's changed that right stance, but like, no one
- 42:24Speaker 4: really seems to go after him. And right, I'm not
- 42:29Speaker 4: saying anybody should. I'm not saying anybody should. He's fucking funny,
- 42:32Speaker 4: and he knows how to make a right a good
- 42:35Speaker 4: job because always at the end of it, he's one
- 42:37Speaker 4: of those people where he's the bad guy at the
- 42:38Speaker 4: end of the day.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Right, which is and that's kind of Anthony jessel Nick.
- 42:42Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, he knows he's a monster. Yeah, and he
- 42:45Speaker 4: smiles his way through it.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Yeah. And that's the thing, like if I hate that
- 42:49Speaker 2: notion that when someone says something that blows up on
- 42:53Speaker 2: the Internet, it's all of a sudden, all the PC
- 42:55Speaker 2: police the game off.
- 42:56Speaker 3: He I will say, I kind of understand.
- 43:00Speaker 4: And the idea that not so much the gay community,
- 43:05Speaker 4: but the quote unquote call out community in general can
- 43:09Speaker 4: tend to not, especially when it comes to comedians. It's like,
- 43:13Speaker 4: first of all, I stand with there should never, absolutely
- 43:17Speaker 4: anybody should be able to record anything that's edit open mic.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Ever.
- 43:20Speaker 4: Ever, yeah, ever, do you know how many of my
- 43:23Speaker 4: good friends I've heard say the most monstrous things? Do
- 43:26Speaker 4: you know how many monstrous things I've said at an
- 43:29Speaker 4: open mic? Think like, oh, this might be funny.
- 43:31Speaker 3: No it isn't.
- 43:33Speaker 4: Oh boy, that's problematic and I can't say that. Yeah,
- 43:37Speaker 4: if that had got like if some of the things
- 43:39Speaker 4: that you're a how gay, some of my own gay
- 43:42Speaker 4: jokes got out there into the world, like when they're
- 43:45Speaker 4: just newborns in my hands and I'm just trying to
- 43:48Speaker 4: tiptoe my way around it, I would be the game
- 43:50Speaker 4: offia would have my head.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. The thing if you're a fan and you
- 43:55Speaker 2: go to like if you're just an audience member at
- 43:58Speaker 2: an open mic, like he got under stand, you're you're
- 44:00Speaker 2: like watching the mcribs get made. You're gonna see some unfortunate.
- 44:05Speaker 4: Don't take any pictures without anybody's consent. If you're at
- 44:08Speaker 4: an open mic or even a comedy show, for that matter,
- 44:11Speaker 4: stop taking pictures of people, and for God's sake, stop
- 44:14Speaker 4: taking videos of people.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Unless it's Hannibal Bursts telling you that Cosby raped a
- 44:17Speaker 2: bunch of women.
- 44:19Speaker 4: Okay, fair, but but like, don't put it on your snapchats,
- 44:23Speaker 4: don't put it on your Instagram stories. You think it's temporary,
- 44:26Speaker 4: it's not. People are holding onto this shit. Yeah, come on,
- 44:29Speaker 4: let us work out our shit. You want us to
- 44:31Speaker 4: have the good Like all joke, every joke, No joke
- 44:35Speaker 4: is born perfect.
- 44:36Speaker 3: All the jokes are born very imperfect.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Actually yeah, yeah, so so yeah, I can't tell it,
- 44:43Speaker 2: does I mean, I guess it does seem like Adam
- 44:46Speaker 2: Krola does have some issues.
- 44:49Speaker 4: Uh, he's no, he's just of the era of straight
- 44:52Speaker 4: white male comic that used to be able to get
- 44:55Speaker 4: away with whatever they wanted to say, you know, whatever
- 44:59Speaker 4: they wanted to be, you know, And he's you know,
- 45:03Speaker 4: I put him in the same category as like Jerry
- 45:05Speaker 4: Seinfeld is, Like he's an old white man who's pissed
- 45:07Speaker 4: he can't say all the things he wanted to say.
- 45:10Speaker 4: And they they're pissed because they have to write new jokes. Yeah, yeah,
- 45:15Speaker 4: and I don't find new new grounded tread and which
- 45:18Speaker 4: is like, oh, poor fucking baby.
- 45:20Speaker 2: I know that. Yeah, that's what bothers me. It's like
- 45:24Speaker 2: every things change over the years, and you sometimes you
- 45:27Speaker 2: have to change with them. And I really hate when
- 45:32Speaker 2: you see people on the left make that argument as
- 45:35Speaker 2: if that's not Like, that's what a lot of the
- 45:38Speaker 2: shit on the right is rooted in, is this sense
- 45:41Speaker 2: of traditionalism and well, things have always been this way,
- 45:45Speaker 2: why can't they always be that way if you want to.
- 45:48Speaker 2: If you make that argument, you're kind of backing up
- 45:52Speaker 2: that argument on the right right when they're like, well,
- 45:55Speaker 2: why can't we still have separate water fountains and shit
- 45:57Speaker 2: like that, Like what's what's the fucking problem? Like you
- 46:00Speaker 2: would that would explode heads if someone came out with
- 46:03Speaker 2: that suggestion. But we can still be like, yeah, why
- 46:06Speaker 2: can't we make gay people fucking piss in the parking
- 46:09Speaker 2: lot or something and keep them away from the kids.
- 46:11Speaker 2: It's like, shut the fuck up and just like die
- 46:15Speaker 2: already or accept that things change. Oh yeah, but there's
- 46:20Speaker 2: no game off yet, No, there is none. This is
- 46:22Speaker 2: that This is one of those rare episodes that I
- 46:24Speaker 2: went into, Like normally I'll get through the notes and
- 46:27Speaker 2: I'll think about it and I'll like read it out
- 46:29Speaker 2: loud and like really take it in and be like,
- 46:32Speaker 2: all right, maybe Elvis did fake his death and flee
- 46:35Speaker 2: to Argentine.
- 46:35Speaker 4: I'd love to come back and do one of those,
- 46:37Speaker 4: like one of these that is like a possible, like
- 46:40Speaker 4: an actually possible.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh, I would love to have my mind blown.
- 46:44Speaker 2: And the Elvis one is one of my favorites. I've
- 46:47Speaker 2: done an episode on it, but I got to that
- 46:50Speaker 2: I definitely think Elvis fled to Argentina. Wow on some
- 46:54Speaker 2: FBI witness protection show.
- 46:55Speaker 4: Cool.
- 46:57Speaker 2: It's it's really the ideal ending to his career because
- 47:00Speaker 2: he was so into law enforcement and justice and for
- 47:03Speaker 2: him to go out on top and just working a
- 47:06Speaker 2: police investigation to bring down the people who stole four
- 47:09Speaker 2: hundred thousand dollars and an airplane from him. Wow, that's great.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Like that's Elvis going out exactly the way Elvis will
- 47:16Speaker 2: want to go out, and then he just goes to
- 47:17Speaker 2: Argentina and does a bunch of drugs. The rest of
- 47:19Speaker 2: his life hangs out as Yeah, it's pretty great. Uh So, yeah,
- 47:24Speaker 2: the game, that's that's the game. Mafi apps how long
- 47:27Speaker 2: have we been recording?
- 47:28Speaker 3: I feel like we've been going. We've been ranting.
- 47:31Speaker 2: This was longer than the last episode.
- 47:33Speaker 4: Wow, we've been ranting and raving, or I should say
- 47:36Speaker 4: I've been ranting and raving.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we both ate those weed brownies? Yeah,
- 47:41Speaker 2: oh boy, those are good.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Do we even do it?
- 47:43Speaker 2: Do we shout out to the Magical Butter Machine?
- 47:45Speaker 3: Yeah? The Magical butter Machine.
- 47:47Speaker 2: They sent me one in exchange. I wanted it and
- 47:51Speaker 2: I said, uh, will you let me have one if
- 47:53Speaker 2: I talk about it on a podcast? And they said yes.
- 47:56Speaker 2: And oh my god, I'm glad I asked because it
- 47:58Speaker 2: makes the best weed. But and it's very easy. And
- 48:02Speaker 2: I don't get any money for telling you that I
- 48:04Speaker 2: just got a magical butter Machine and I got Joe
- 48:07Speaker 2: K high on a brownie.
- 48:08Speaker 3: Yeah, he did.
- 48:09Speaker 2: What are you looking at? On them?
- 48:10Speaker 4: Trying to make sure that we got through these notes,
- 48:13Speaker 4: But it's all corolla, you know, being.
- 48:16Speaker 3: Uh oh, I'm an ally. I did this once, like
- 48:20Speaker 3: I have gay friends. That's essentially what he's saying is
- 48:23Speaker 3: I can't be homophobic. I have gay friends.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Yeah. And his quote about reasons Gaze should marry his
- 48:32Speaker 2: words one they're American. Two, they pay taxes three through five,
- 48:36Speaker 2: so they can shut the fuck up.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Yeah, how dare we demand? Right?
- 48:40Speaker 2: And it's like that's just feels like another thing where
- 48:43Speaker 2: he's like, why do I have to see it? Why
- 48:44Speaker 2: do I have to see it? And it's like, because
- 48:46Speaker 2: it's not.
- 48:46Speaker 4: I don't want to be lying on my deathbed and
- 48:48Speaker 4: realize gay marriage and legalization in marijuana is all I.
- 48:50Speaker 3: Discussed in the last half of my life. Oh I'm sorry,
- 48:54Speaker 3: Oh I'm sorry.
- 48:55Speaker 4: Oh you mean keeping on your fragile white male line.
- 49:03Speaker 2: There are so many people in prison over marijuana right now.
- 49:09Speaker 4: Fuck him, Fuck Bill Maher, Fuck Adam Corolla, fuck fuck this.
- 49:14Speaker 2: But we are pro game mafia in case there is one.
- 49:16Speaker 3: Yeah, if there is one, hire me.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and then you hire me, you're an ally. I'll
- 49:23Speaker 2: make sure I want to chain migrate into the game.
