The Quiet Purge: How Blue Cities Are Replacing Real Cops
NYPD Captain James Wilson criticized Mayor Zohran Mamdani and was promptly reassigned to a dead-end Communications Division role that kills his promotion prospects. Zeek Arkham breaks down the pattern: departments park outspoken officers under “needs of the department” language until their careers are finished. Good officers do the math and leave for Florida and Texas. The vacancies get filled by whoever still wants the job under the new rules. Portland is further down the same path—Andy Ngo has documented the results for years. One institution at a time.
