- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. It is so good to be here again. Lucas: Today we are looking at four small words that hold Italian together. Luna: Prepositions? Oh no. Those always confuse me. Lucas: They are simple once you see them in action. Let us start with 'di'. Luna: Di means 'of', right? Lucas: Exactly. Or it shows what we are talking about. Listen closely. Lucas: Parlo di te. Luna: Parlo di te. I am speaking of you. Lucas: Good. Now say it slowly. Luna: Parlo... di... te. Lucas: Perfect. Again, faster. Luna: Parlo di te. Lucas: Let us use it in a sentence. What do we talk about today? Luna: Io parlo di italiano ogni giorno. Lucas: Yes. Io parlo di italiano ogni giorno. Luna: I speak of Italian every day. Lucas: Very good. Now let us try 'a'. This one is very common. Luna: A usually means 'to' or 'at'. Lucas: Correct. Think about going somewhere specific. Lucas: Vado a casa. Luna: Vado a casa. I go home. Lucas: Say it with me. Slowly. Luna: Vado... a... casa. Lucas: Nice flow. Now quickly. Luna: Vado a casa. Lucas: Where do you want to go? Luna: Vado al cinema. No, keep it simple. Vado a scuola. Lucas: Vado a scuola. You go to school. Luna: Yes. And I come back to say 'parlo di te' later. Lucas: That is a nice connection. Next is 'da'. Luna: Da means 'from' or 'out of'? Lucas: Often 'from'. But it can also mean leaving a place. Lucas: Esco da qui. Luna: Esco da qui. I exit from here. Lucas: Listen to the rhythm. Luna: Esco... da... qui. Lucas: Good. Try it again. Luna: Esco da qui. Lucas: Are you leaving now? Luna: Si, esco da qui per studiare un po'. Lucas: Yes, I exit from here to study a bit. Luna: It feels natural when I think about moving away. Lucas: Exactly. Movement away uses 'da'. Finally, we have 'con'. Luna: Con means 'with'. That one I know. Lucas: Right. But let us make it a full phrase. Lucas: Sono con te. Luna: Sono con te. I am with you. Lucas: Repeat it slowly. Luna: Sono... con... te. Lucas: Now quickly. Luna: Sono con te. Lucas: Who are you with? Luna: Sono con Lucas oggi. Lucas: You are with Lucas today. Very sweet. Luna: Grazie. Let us review them all together. Lucas: We start with 'di'. Parlo di te. Luna: Parlo di te. Lucas: Then 'a'. Vado a casa. Luna: Vado a casa. Lucas: Then 'da'. Esco da qui. Luna: Esco da qui. Lucas: And 'con'. Sono con te. Luna: Sono con te. Lucas: You are doing great. These small words change everything. Luna: They really do. Before we go further, I have a quick thought. Lucas: What is on your mind?
