Speaker 3: Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week. Hannah, Good morning,
2:47
Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
2:49
Speaker 4: Good morning, how are you.
2:50
Speaker 3: I'm doing fine? It as always our our critter. The
2:54
Speaker 3: picture is posted in the bio on Dave Allen Radio,
2:57
Speaker 3: on Facebook and the Dave Alan show on X. The
3:00
Speaker 3: dog's name this wig, Hannah is shortstop. Tell us about shortstop?
3:05
Speaker 5: All right, Well, he.
3:06
Speaker 4: Is very very sweet, very very He's got them short
3:11
Speaker 4: little I would almost think maybe like basket legs because
3:16
Speaker 4: they turn out bad ways and some people say like corgy.
3:20
Speaker 5: But I have a dog that has.
3:22
Speaker 4: Basket in it, and it looks just like that.
3:24
Speaker 5: I would say he has basket, but.
3:26
Speaker 4: I don't know what else.
3:27
Speaker 5: Of course, he's got other stuff in him. But he
3:30
Speaker 5: is male. He's about one is years old. We do
3:34
Speaker 5: got their gums and their teeth, so it could be
3:37
Speaker 5: kind of like a little bit of a roundabout. He
3:39
Speaker 5: could be two, he could be one, but one is
3:42
Speaker 5: our best guest for his age. He did trme in
3:45
Speaker 5: as astray, so we're not one hundred percent sure on
3:49
Speaker 5: his background or anything like that. But he is microchips now,
3:54
Speaker 5: he's vaccinated. He is not fixed yet, but he will
3:59
Speaker 5: be before he goes home and if anybody is interested
4:05
Speaker 5: in him. He is a foster candidate, so he could
4:09
Speaker 5: be fostered for a night or a weekend or something
4:11
Speaker 5: like that, kind of just to see how it goes
4:13
Speaker 5: in your home before you make that full on commitment,
4:16
Speaker 5: which I always do recommend if you are unsure how
4:19
Speaker 5: an animal would do in your home or how your
4:22
Speaker 5: own animal would do with the animal you're bringing in.
4:26
Speaker 5: He does prefer calmer dogs and female dogs as his friends,
4:31
Speaker 5: as he can be a little bit more. He's laid back,
4:37
Speaker 5: but he's also very very playful. So when he is playful,
4:41
Speaker 5: if he's with another dog that's like very very hyperactive
4:43
Speaker 5: and playful, it can be a little bit too much
4:45
Speaker 5: for him sometimes, so he does prefer still playful, but
4:49
Speaker 5: more calmer dogs, if that makes sense. But he's a
4:54
Speaker 5: very very good boy. He's been to a foster home
4:56
Speaker 5: before and they didn't plan on adopting or anything. They
4:59
Speaker 5: just wanted to give him a night out, so they
5:00
Speaker 5: took him for a sleepover, and they did have two
5:03
Speaker 5: small children, both under ten, and they said that he
5:06
Speaker 5: did very well with those kids as well as he
5:10
Speaker 5: seemed to be housebroken because he did not use the
5:13
Speaker 5: vacuum in the house and he, I believe, she said,
5:16
Speaker 5: would kind of go over towards the door area whenever
5:19
Speaker 5: he would want to go out, and she would let
5:21
Speaker 5: him out. So he's a very very good boy, very
5:24
Speaker 5: very smart boy. But he is a social butterfly with people,
5:28
Speaker 5: so anybody he loves pretty much anybody. He says a
5:31
Speaker 5: little like woo woo. How so he's very very funny.
5:34
Speaker 5: He's very cute, and he is looking for his forever home.
5:38
Speaker 5: And he has about thirty eight ish pounds. Now he
5:41
Speaker 5: could get a little bit chunkier, but as of right
5:44
Speaker 5: now he is thirty eight pounds.
5:45
Speaker 3: He's a good looking dog. And again, as always, I
5:47
Speaker 3: got the picture posted as we do every week on
5:50
Speaker 3: Dave Vland Radio on Facebook and also The Day Valid
5:53
Speaker 3: Show on ex Day Valin Show is brought to you
5:54
Speaker 3: part by Hustin's Pizza. Well this month as your favorite Hustin's,
5:57
Speaker 3: you can get a large a ten inche Pepperoni pizza
5:59
Speaker 3: and an eight inch chocolate chip cookie only twenty three
6:02
Speaker 3: ninety nine. Speaking, I want to ask you about that
6:04
Speaker 3: whole thing about taking the dogs out like a night
6:07
Speaker 3: on the town to sleepover, if you will. How does
6:10
Speaker 3: that whole thing where could people want to do that?
6:12
Speaker 3: You know, they're not interested, they just want to help
6:13
Speaker 3: out in some way, and even if it's just one
6:16
Speaker 3: night or maybe a little longer term foster, what goes
6:18
Speaker 3: into that process.
6:20
Speaker 5: Yeah, So if you want to come up and you
6:23
Speaker 5: are looking to adopt, well even if you're just looking
6:25
Speaker 5: to foster, we have little things that you could do,
6:30
Speaker 5: like a doggy day out. We have a slumber party
6:33
Speaker 5: that you could do where you take them over for
6:35
Speaker 5: a night. And then we also have like a little
6:37
Speaker 5: bit more of like a lengthy fostering so a weekend
6:40
Speaker 5: or a week or a little bit longer than that.
6:44
Speaker 5: It's really just dependent on how they are in your home,
6:46
Speaker 5: how comfortable you are with them being in your home,
6:48
Speaker 5: et cetera. So whenever you are planning on fostering, you
6:52
Speaker 5: can come on up look through all the dogs that
6:54
Speaker 5: we have. You can even speak with a kennel attendant
6:56
Speaker 5: and kind of gauge your lifestyle to them, and can
7:00
Speaker 5: kind of pair a dog or a couple of different
7:03
Speaker 5: dogs for you to look at to see if there's
7:05
Speaker 5: any that you might be most interested in. And then
7:07
Speaker 5: you'll come up front to the lobby where our adoption
7:11
Speaker 5: counselors are and they will process the foster or adoption
7:15
Speaker 5: for you. If it's just a foster, you'll go through
7:17
Speaker 5: signing a foster contract and then we'll put you into
7:21
Speaker 5: our system and you can take them home. We'll give
7:23
Speaker 5: you a harness and a leash and some food for
7:26
Speaker 5: the night if you're taking them for the night or
7:28
Speaker 5: for the week, weekend, whatever you may be comfortable with.
7:32
Speaker 3: Did I say that you folks rescued a pig.
7:37
Speaker 5: Yes, we did rescue a pig. It immediately got adopted,
7:41
Speaker 5: so we don't have it anymore.
7:43
Speaker 3: Okay, okay? Is that a common thing, Hannah, that do
7:46
Speaker 3: you somehow end up in possession of a pig?
7:50
Speaker 5: I wouldn't say like so common, but we do, like
7:56
Speaker 5: one or two, maybe it's times a year. We do
7:59
Speaker 5: sometimes get like a pig in whether it be a
8:02
Speaker 5: surrender or somebody has like a bandit or something like that.
8:06
Speaker 3: What was the story with this pig and how did
8:08
Speaker 3: you come to possess a pig?
8:11
Speaker 5: I believe there was a call about the pig or
8:15
Speaker 5: something that we had and we went out and I think,
8:21
Speaker 5: I think if I'm I'm not one hundred percent sure
8:23
Speaker 5: on the whole situation with it, but if I'm thinking right,
8:26
Speaker 5: it was a pig that was surrendered to us. Again,
8:32
Speaker 5: I could be wrong, okay, okay, but yeah, she was
8:36
Speaker 5: a very very sweet picture, was very very friendly and
8:39
Speaker 5: she absolutely loved. If you go on the Facebook, you'll
8:41
Speaker 5: see a video of her and like the whole pig rescue.
8:45
Speaker 5: They video is the whole thing.
8:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's why I saw it, Yeah, on the
8:48
Speaker 3: Facebook page.
8:50
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's very it was very, very interesting and she
8:52
Speaker 5: got lost of love for me.
8:55
Speaker 3: I don't they say that pigs make great pets. That's
8:57
Speaker 3: what I've always been told. If you get them, you know,
8:59
Speaker 3: when they're young, whatever, and they make that they make
9:01
Speaker 3: fantastic pets. Well, I'm glad we got a happy pig
9:04
Speaker 3: story for us today, Hannah. I got to let you
9:06
Speaker 3: go a little bit early today. We got a lot
9:08
Speaker 3: more to get to. But I do appreciate you being
9:10
Speaker 3: here quickly. How are the numbers looking, because I know
9:12
Speaker 3: I saw one of the virtual tours that you all
9:14
Speaker 3: did earlier this week, and it looked like you had
9:16
Speaker 3: animals just about anywhere you could find a place for them,
9:18
Speaker 3: all being taken care of, you know, professionally and like
9:23
Speaker 3: they should. But you got a lot of animals up there.
9:27
Speaker 5: Yes, yes, we do have a lot of animals. So
9:29
Speaker 5: I encouraged fostering, donating, adopting, anything you can do. But
9:33
Speaker 5: our numbers are still pretty high. I do believe that
9:37
Speaker 5: yesterday that the work on the kennles that last section
9:42
Speaker 5: was finished, so I think we might be able to
9:43
Speaker 5: open that back up and put the ones that are
9:46
Speaker 5: not currently in a kennel into a kennel. But we're
9:49
Speaker 5: still very cool, so definitely definitely come on up.
9:52
Speaker 3: All right, Hannah, We'll talk to you next week. I
9:53
Speaker 3: appreciate it. Thanks a lot. Thank you, Hannah Gardner for
9:56
Speaker 3: the GNNAL Charleston. You've main association with this week's Adopt

10:02
Speaker 3: posted on my social media Dave Island Radio on Facebook
10:04
Speaker 3: and the Dave Island Show on x Shortstop is our
10:08
Speaker 3: dog this week. One year old, not fixed yet but
10:10
Speaker 3: we'll be micro chipped and vaccinated. Around thirty eight pounds,
10:14
Speaker 3: seems to be housebroken, seem to do pretty well with kids.
10:17
Speaker 3: Loves calmer female dogs, and just to make a great
10:21
Speaker 3: pet for your family and just as a Hannah's favorite
10:24
Speaker 3: term is social butterfly. So there you go, go, check
10:28
Speaker 3: out check out Shortstop. We'll to try to get Shortstop adopted.
10:32
Speaker 3: Coming up on Monday show State Vice Chair of the
10:34
Speaker 3: Republican Party. Tony Hodge is going to be here, not
10:36
Speaker 3: in his role as a part of the party, but
10:39
Speaker 3: just as Tony the Dude. He wrote an op ed
10:43
Speaker 3: in the Gazette Mail that was published I think last week,
10:47
Speaker 3: and it's being both praised and criticized. It had to
10:50
Speaker 3: do with the diminishing of the family unit in America.
10:53
Speaker 3: It's pretty interesting stuff. Tony's going to join us on
10:55
Speaker 3: Monday talk about that. Plus Rick Cavatt from Charleston Urban

12:06
Speaker 3: to have something our legislators needed. We have tough, tougher

Speaker 12: sports dealer. We're going to be the Capital City's newest
15:39
Speaker 12: power sports and South Charleston's newest power sports dealer. And uh,
15:43
Speaker 12: we're getting into motorcycles and scooters.
15:46
Speaker 3: Okay, so what led to this decision?
15:48
Speaker 12: Uh, you know really just uh the being outside. You know,
15:52
Speaker 12: we want to offer people more opportunities to see more
15:55
Speaker 12: stuff when they stop in. Uh, you know, being a
15:58
Speaker 12: singular dealer, you know sometimes it can kind of be
16:04
Speaker 12: I guess in a way, it just's stagnates, you know,
16:06
Speaker 12: we don't get enough people in the door, you know.
16:08
Speaker 12: But but for us, it was something that we want
16:11
Speaker 12: to offer, just something really unique to the Capital City
16:14
Speaker 12: and with our TNT group from Benelli. Benelli's one of
16:19
Speaker 12: the brands that we're going to be offering. You know,
16:21
Speaker 12: it really brings in a different type of person looking
16:23
Speaker 12: for a little excitement and way different from the traditional
16:28
Speaker 12: bikes that are in the area.
16:29
Speaker 3: What you mentioned Bonelli, What are some of the other
16:31
Speaker 3: brands you may have.
16:32
Speaker 12: Yeah, so Benelli is an Italian brand. They've been around
16:35
Speaker 12: since nineteen eleven. Oh yeah, they're yeah, kind of one
16:38
Speaker 12: of those legacy bic yes. And then actually the oldest
16:43
Speaker 12: production brand in the world is roll Infield. They've been
16:46
Speaker 12: around since nineteen oh one. Formerly they were an English bike,
16:53
Speaker 12: but when India kicked them out of their country, they kept.
16:56
Speaker 3: The bike, so something to be said for that.
16:59
Speaker 12: Yes, so uh so, yeah, we're gonna have two of
17:02
Speaker 12: the oldest bike companies there are. And uh, Royal Infield
17:07
Speaker 12: is really cool because they have this really classic fifty
17:09
Speaker 12: sixty styles look to them. And then Bonelli has the
17:14
Speaker 12: mini bike that is really popular right now with a
17:17
Speaker 12: lot of segments across the country. Whether it's Royal city, urban,
17:22
Speaker 12: doesn't matter, it's the mini bike is a wildly popular
17:26
Speaker 12: segment of the motorcycle group.
17:28
Speaker 3: I want to talk about that a little bit because
17:30
Speaker 3: you know, I'm a kid of the seventies and growing up,
17:32
Speaker 3: many bikes were all the things. But before ATVs I
17:35
Speaker 3: remember three wheelers, three whee which got.
17:38
Speaker 12: Away from well my first accident was on a three wheelers,
17:40
Speaker 12: so yes, which is why they got away from there's
17:43
Speaker 12: a reason to that, yes, And then it went to
17:45
Speaker 12: you know, just the traditional four wheelers and became ATVs U,
17:48
Speaker 12: TV's and whatever.
17:49
Speaker 3: But now it's kind of it's it's kind of getting
17:51
Speaker 3: back to many bike is a thing again.
17:53
Speaker 11: Many bikes are just popping up.
17:55
Speaker 3: Why is that?
17:55
Speaker 11: You think affordability for one everything again?
17:59
Speaker 12: Everything, Yeah, everything's making that cycle of you know, velvet
18:02
Speaker 12: clothes are going to come back.
18:03
Speaker 3: I guess, well good, I never got rid of mine,
18:05
Speaker 3: so the.
18:07
Speaker 12: But really, you know, customization is what's huge about that market.
18:12
Speaker 12: People can pick these bikes up, like our Binelli's are
18:15
Speaker 12: going to be running about thirty four ninety nine. You know,
18:19
Speaker 12: the TNTs, we have a feel on the ground right
18:21
Speaker 12: now to kind of get with them and play with
18:23
Speaker 12: them before you know, we start getting them out to
18:25
Speaker 12: the public.
18:26
Speaker 11: But the customization is just wild on these things.
18:30
Speaker 12: And again it is it with inflation and prices and
18:34
Speaker 12: you know some new motorcycles might cost you twenty thousand
18:37
Speaker 12: dollars for a new motorcycle, you know, we're talking about
18:40
Speaker 12: something that's thirty five hundred bucks.
18:42
Speaker 3: So what is the one of the legal issues with
18:45
Speaker 3: with many bikes? I mean, where can these things be
18:48
Speaker 3: be ridden?
18:49
Speaker 12: The armity bike in particular, can be ridden anywhere, so
18:52
Speaker 12: it follows all the state laws. You just get your learners.
18:56
Speaker 12: Take it on the highway, because this thing can do
18:58
Speaker 12: eighty miles an hour.
19:00
Speaker 3: You can take this on interstate.
19:01
Speaker 11: You can take it on the interstate. It's quite small.
19:04
Speaker 12: I mean, people you know will definitely see you just
19:07
Speaker 12: because of just you're gonna be a unique item, because
19:09
Speaker 12: it's gonna look like you're literally setting on a chair.
19:12
Speaker 5: Uh.
19:12
Speaker 3: But is there anything under this guy or what they're
19:15
Speaker 3: gonna be like, what.
19:15
Speaker 11: Is moving him so fast? Uh?
19:18
Speaker 12: But yeah, you know, we run into a lot of
19:20
Speaker 12: the other there's other companies that have similar like items.
19:23
Speaker 12: And when I'm out riding in the evenings, I see
19:25
Speaker 12: a lot of these little group of guys.
19:27
Speaker 11: They'll be out.
19:28
Speaker 12: On the they'll be on the highway. So no, no, restrictions.
19:31
Speaker 3: Talking to Sean Hardban again from Trojan Lanby Marine and
19:34
Speaker 3: the announcement that you're now kind of you're not pivoting
19:37
Speaker 3: away from what you normally do.
19:38
Speaker 12: This is just an added thing a thing, yeah, because
19:41
Speaker 12: you know, we love the outdoors a lot of us.
19:43
Speaker 12: We we boat, we ride motorcycles. It's kind of just fitting,
19:48
Speaker 12: you know, give an example of just uh, you know
19:51
Speaker 12: who we are. We can talk to people about these
19:53
Speaker 12: things because these things we do, even side by sides.
19:56
Speaker 12: If we can eventually bring that on board, you know,
19:59
Speaker 12: we're we're look at that too.
20:00
Speaker 3: And you know in West Virginia with the with the
20:04
Speaker 3: with the launch of the Hatfil McCoy Trail, which believe
20:06
Speaker 3: it or not, has been you know, almost thirty years ago,
20:08
Speaker 3: and there's more trail systems. I think there's a grand
20:11
Speaker 3: opening going on at the one in Tornado. I think
20:12
Speaker 3: I saw something about that next week or whatever.
20:14
Speaker 11: I think, Yeah, I think I read about it.
20:16
Speaker 3: It's huge. I mean it's absolutely huge, not only here
20:19
Speaker 3: but across the country. But people enjoy it. They like
20:22
Speaker 3: to enjoy it in West Virginia.
20:23
Speaker 12: And you just you know, I live on the just here.
20:26
Speaker 12: I live here in the city, but I live just
20:27
Speaker 12: here on the corridor exchange, so you just see them
20:31
Speaker 12: every day. There's people trailering in their ATVs UTVs.
20:36
Speaker 11: For the trail.
20:37
Speaker 12: And you know, in some of our bikes with the
20:40
Speaker 12: Benelli brand, they have a touring series, but really it's
20:43
Speaker 12: an adventure bike series. It's a five hundred and seven
20:47
Speaker 12: hundred c C bike and Rural Infield has a four
20:50
Speaker 12: to fifty cc that's exactly.
20:53
Speaker 11: What it's for.
20:53
Speaker 12: It's made for the on road off road mix kind
20:56
Speaker 12: of what the jeep Wrangler guys have been all their lives.
20:59
Speaker 12: You know, I'm going to take this off road and
21:01
Speaker 12: drive it home and we're going to offer this kind
21:04
Speaker 12: of the same thing on two wheels.
21:06
Speaker 3: And so it's going to be I think an added
21:09
Speaker 3: just added bonus to the already great work that you
21:10
Speaker 3: guys do there.
21:11
Speaker 12: Well, we try we You know how long you've been
21:13
Speaker 12: in business. This is year nineteen, okay, so next year
21:17
Speaker 12: will be year twenty four us as being open as
21:20
Speaker 12: a business, and actually it starts in October, I'd be
21:23
Speaker 12: honest it. Yeah, we open in October of.
21:26
Speaker 3: Four, and everything's going to be at your location, which
21:28
Speaker 3: is where.
21:28
Speaker 12: Yeah, right, here on mccorkor Avenue fourteen fourteen, next to
21:31
Speaker 12: the old Sport Mark and just across the river from
21:34
Speaker 12: Patrick Street.
21:35
Speaker 3: What's our time frame here, Sean?
21:37
Speaker 12: Hopefully we'll be selling them today. Okay, so we've got
21:40
Speaker 12: a few things we're working out, basically, just got to
21:44
Speaker 12: get the insurance finished and some DMV stuff, But hopefully
21:47
Speaker 12: all that will finish today and we'll start selling them today.
21:50
Speaker 3: What kind of summer overall?
21:51
Speaker 11: Has it been extremely hot?
21:55
Speaker 12: I didn't mean from a weather staff, but I mean,
21:57
Speaker 12: but from overall too. It was almost too hot toat
22:00
Speaker 12: It was too hot to be outside, So I mean,
22:02
Speaker 12: but we had a good summer. You know, we're we're
22:05
Speaker 12: still recovering, uh from from really COVID. I mean, I
22:09
Speaker 12: would say we're still in a covidlall. You know, we're
22:12
Speaker 12: we're getting back to normal. We're probably still half as
22:15
Speaker 12: busy as we were before COVID. Uh But at the
22:19
Speaker 12: same time, you know, we're half staffed and everything's kind
22:22
Speaker 12: of according So, but we had a It was good
22:26
Speaker 12: because last year was a really bad year for us.
22:28
Speaker 12: This year has been much better.
22:29
Speaker 3: I think it's interesting that you said it's been almost hot,
22:32
Speaker 3: almost too hot to boat, because I have noticed that
22:35
Speaker 3: in traveling around that. You know, I live in Putnam
22:37
Speaker 3: County and sometimes if I make my way over to
22:40
Speaker 3: the you know, the Ellinoris area or whatever, just kind
22:42
Speaker 3: of look over the bridge and look down there, and
22:43
Speaker 3: I look, and I don't. I don't see as many
22:45
Speaker 3: boats on the water.
22:46
Speaker 12: It's been it's been pretty warm summer. I mean, you know,
22:49
Speaker 12: we've we've had more evening riders than we've ever had
22:53
Speaker 12: in the past. There's a lot of people coming in
22:55
Speaker 12: around four or five o'clock and riding into sunset at
22:58
Speaker 12: the marina there through our rick service than we've had before,
23:03
Speaker 12: just because it is so hot.
23:04
Speaker 11: It's hot, and you know.
23:06
Speaker 12: Really here we don't have a lot of places to
23:07
Speaker 12: get out of the sun. I mean, up the Elk
23:09
Speaker 12: River got a lot of foliage and coverage, and you
23:11
Speaker 12: get up through there. Once you're out on the canal,
23:14
Speaker 12: you know, there's a lot of just naked areas that
23:17
Speaker 12: you can't get to the shorelining get out of the sun.
23:21
Speaker 3: So it's blazing out there, blazing. How's the food truck going?
23:24
Speaker 12: Food truck's been awesome. We really happy we brought that
23:28
Speaker 12: on board. My wife loves it. Heather just she cooks
23:32
Speaker 12: in there and just loves what she does. And it's
23:35
Speaker 12: something that I'm glad we we was able to get
23:37
Speaker 12: back to our to our kind of our right customers,
23:39
Speaker 12: to our community, especially on the water. There's a lot
23:42
Speaker 12: of people stop in and and just enjoy it too.
23:46
Speaker 2: Uh.
23:47
Speaker 12: It's closed this week because we have some we have
23:49
Speaker 12: people out with COVID, but it's still there, still around. Yeah,
23:53
Speaker 12: so we have a couple people out, so we had
23:55
Speaker 12: to close it this week, but hopefully we'll get it
23:56
Speaker 12: back open next week for lunches and everything.
23:59
Speaker 11: Uh, because she runs it four days a week for lunches.
24:01
Speaker 3: But where does she normally park it?
24:04
Speaker 11: Right in the parking lot of park.
24:06
Speaker 12: Yeah, only on Saturday to Friday night and Saturday do
24:09
Speaker 12: we take it over the heel. The rest of the time,
24:11
Speaker 12: she's open from eleven to one thirty.
24:14
Speaker 3: What's what's what's your favorite thing on the menu?
24:16
Speaker 11: Uh?
24:17
Speaker 12: My favorite thing is just a dag on corn dog
24:19
Speaker 12: just because I can eat it while I'm moving. But
24:24
Speaker 12: the Canal Monster that that our little boy Tristan came
24:28
Speaker 12: up with.
24:30
Speaker 3: I think she talked about that when the Monster shop,
24:33
Speaker 3: it is a whole.
24:34
Speaker 12: Lot of everything. I mean, from fries to mac and
24:38
Speaker 12: cheese to I've never eaten it. I have one employee
24:43
Speaker 12: whose mom will not let him eat it because she's like,
24:46
Speaker 12: it's just a giant heart attack.
24:47
Speaker 3: But it'say, yeah, moderation.
24:51
Speaker 12: Yeah, he's but he doesn't know that he's young. Those
24:54
Speaker 12: things haven't kicked in yet. Like you know, I was
24:57
Speaker 12: my mid thirties for eight of salad, so you know
24:59
Speaker 12: that's uh, that's where he's at.
25:01
Speaker 3: I get you.
25:01
Speaker 12: But the canall monster, it's that is something.
25:04
Speaker 11: Her fish tacos are are excellent.
25:07
Speaker 12: Okay, so that a lot of people order, and that's
25:09
Speaker 12: one of our most ordered items.
25:11
Speaker 3: All right, So do you have information about this on
25:13
Speaker 3: your website or social media or anything like that.
25:15
Speaker 11: Yeah. Yeah, it's going to happen today though.
25:17
Speaker 12: Yeah, so trojan Leaning dot com we're going to be
25:20
Speaker 12: unveiling at getting it out there and of course Instagram
25:23
Speaker 12: and Facebook we'll be.
25:24
Speaker 3: Well, we appreciate you breaking the news here.
25:26
Speaker 11: Well, thank you, thank you.
25:27
Speaker 3: I feel important. Yeah.
25:28
Speaker 12: Yeah, we wanted to bring it to our friends here.
25:30
Speaker 12: We you know, love what you guys do, and it's
25:34
Speaker 12: really great for our business being in partners with you.
25:36
Speaker 3: Oh, we appreciate that, and we didn't even pay you
25:38
Speaker 3: to say that. All right, So in case people are
25:40
Speaker 3: in tuning in late, give me about thirty seconds what
25:42
Speaker 3: the big announcement was here, what you're getting into, just
25:44
Speaker 3: in case they're just now tuning in.
25:46
Speaker 12: So Trojan Leaning is offering power sports, we're getting into
25:49
Speaker 12: the motorcycle and scooter business with Bonelli and actually the
25:52
Speaker 12: scooters are going to be from Keywave and roll in Field.
25:55
Speaker 11: So all right, and we're excited.
25:57
Speaker 3: Sewan. I appreciate you being here, man, Thanks a lot,
25:59
Speaker 3: Thank you so much. Sean Harbin again from Trojan Landing Marine.

30:01
Speaker 3: the show.
30:02
Speaker 15: Good morning, Dave.
30:03
Speaker 5: It's great to be with you today.
30:04
Speaker 3: All right, first of all classes, first full day of
30:08
Speaker 3: classes coming up on Monday, is that right?
30:10
Speaker 15: Yes, we're so excited. It's always one of my favorite
30:13
Speaker 15: times of the year to have students back on campus
30:15
Speaker 15: and not be able to find somewhere to park in
30:17
Speaker 15: the parking lot.
30:18
Speaker 3: What do you got planned for the first day?
30:21
Speaker 15: So what we'll do all week is Welcome Back Week,
30:23
Speaker 15: So it's fun activities, it's helping get students familiar with
30:26
Speaker 15: the area and the facilities. One of the things that
30:29
Speaker 15: I'm most looking forward to is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
30:33
Speaker 15: We're doing dining with the deans, So it's an opportunity
30:36
Speaker 15: for students to connect with their academic leadership over lunch.
30:39
Speaker 15: It's a group who we think it's important who they
30:41
Speaker 15: talk to and get to learn from. You. You've had
30:44
Speaker 15: Kent Wilson, for example, on your show before, and he's
30:47
Speaker 15: our dean for nursing and Emergency Medical Services. So students
30:50
Speaker 15: who are in that area who get to know him
30:52
Speaker 15: get some additional mentorship. They start making those connections so
30:55
Speaker 15: it'll help them get into industry.
30:57
Speaker 2: Me.
30:57
Speaker 15: Kent works part time doing cardiac surgeries with doctors over
31:01
Speaker 15: at CAMC, so he's really well connected to the nursing
31:05
Speaker 15: community and wants to help connect our students to that too.
31:08
Speaker 2: Well.
31:08
Speaker 3: It's very important speaking of nursing, we talk all the
31:12
Speaker 3: time when you're on the show, or would Can's on
31:14
Speaker 3: the show or whomever about the need for nurses in
31:17
Speaker 3: West Virginia, really across the country, but specifically in West Virginia.
31:20
Speaker 3: You just had a signing period for nurses, Is that right?
31:22
Speaker 15: We did so. WU Medicine has done a really cool
31:25
Speaker 15: project with us. It's called the Aspiring Nurse program, where
31:28
Speaker 15: they select students out of our nursing program and then
31:31
Speaker 15: pay them to go to school. So they're up to
31:34
Speaker 15: thirty seven students now that they commit five thousand dollars
31:37
Speaker 15: every semester they stay in school, and then a five
31:40
Speaker 15: thousand dollars signing bonus to work anywhere in the WVU
31:43
Speaker 15: medicine system. Obviously, we hope that they stay here in
31:46
Speaker 15: Charleston and work at Thomas Hospitals, but certainly if they
31:49
Speaker 15: decide they want to go up to Morgantown and work
31:51
Speaker 15: in Ruby, that's wonderful too. It's really about getting them
31:54
Speaker 15: a job with the system and making sure they get
31:56
Speaker 15: through school.
31:57
Speaker 3: Talking again with doctor Casey Sachs from a Bridge Valley,
32:00
Speaker 3: classes out there begin on Monday, and again we were
32:03
Speaker 3: talking about the nursing thing as well. One of the
32:05
Speaker 3: things that you hear a lot about doctor Sachs in
32:08
Speaker 3: the world of education is the ratio of students to teachers.
32:13
Speaker 3: In other words, how many students, generally speaking, are under
32:16
Speaker 3: the instruction of one teacher. What does that look like
32:19
Speaker 3: At Bridge.
32:19
Speaker 15: Valley we have about eleven students for every instructor, and
32:23
Speaker 15: we think that's very important, especially in areas Pyke nursing
32:27
Speaker 15: that we were just talking about, because you're doing a
32:29
Speaker 15: lot of clinical experiences, you're doing a lot of things
32:32
Speaker 15: where you need one on one support, and so when
32:34
Speaker 15: we're able to do small classes sometimes it's also a
32:37
Speaker 15: safety issue. If you think about our welding program. If
32:40
Speaker 15: Jerry's in that welding program, if he were to have
32:43
Speaker 15: thirty or forty students, it would be dangerous. And so
32:46
Speaker 15: having those small classes becomes really important so that you
32:49
Speaker 15: can get that support from your instructor and they can
32:52
Speaker 15: really see what you're doing and help you to improve
32:54
Speaker 15: on whatever it is.
32:55
Speaker 3: But Dave alan Chow and five Vitie Live brought to
32:57
Speaker 3: you a part about Pinnacle Consultants. Poor indoor air quoady
33:00
Speaker 3: can cause a variety of health issues, including allergies, respiratory problems,
33:03
Speaker 3: et cetera. Benical offer specialized into air quality services for residential,
33:07
Speaker 3: commercial and industrial type settings. Vis a Pinnacle Court dot net.
33:11
Speaker 3: Because what you don't know can hurt you. I've heard
33:13
Speaker 3: some of the ads running on our stations here about
33:16
Speaker 3: the WIN programs and the WIN Academy talk about that
33:19
Speaker 3: a little bit.
33:20
Speaker 15: So the Win Academy is an early college high school
33:23
Speaker 15: here at Bridge Valley. It's an opportunity for students to
33:26
Speaker 15: start their college classes while they're still in high school.
33:29
Speaker 15: We have a small cohort of students who have been
33:31
Speaker 15: working through their nursing degrees, and then this year we've
33:34
Speaker 15: opened it up so that they can work on advanced
33:36
Speaker 15: manufacturing technology those technology areas also if that's of interest
33:40
Speaker 15: to them. So it's really just it's a great opportunity
33:43
Speaker 15: for students to be able to start college a little
33:45
Speaker 15: earlier and be able to leave us without having any debt.
33:49
Speaker 3: Public school Doctor Sachs started in Kanawa County today and
33:53
Speaker 3: a couple of other counties are already underway. Cabal, I
33:55
Speaker 3: think is already underway and most of the schools would
33:58
Speaker 3: go come online sometime with the next week or week
34:00
Speaker 3: going to have or so. So, what kind of outreach
34:03
Speaker 3: do you do does a university do when you go
34:06
Speaker 3: into high schools or to get the word out to
34:09
Speaker 3: high school students that are looking at a post high
34:12
Speaker 3: school world.
34:13
Speaker 15: We really will do anything that the high schools will
34:16
Speaker 15: let us come in to do. So sometimes that means
34:18
Speaker 15: setting up in a cafeteria and talking to high school students.
34:21
Speaker 15: Sometimes that means sending a faculty member to a computer class,
34:25
Speaker 15: and sometimes our computer science chair might go to that
34:27
Speaker 15: computer class and talk about what students could do sort
34:30
Speaker 15: of the next level of computer information systems. If you
34:34
Speaker 15: were to come to Bridge Valley, it really depends on
34:38
Speaker 15: the kind of access that schools will let us have,
34:40
Speaker 15: and that varies a lot by county. Clay County has
34:43
Speaker 15: been one of those places that's very open, that asks
34:45
Speaker 15: us to come to graduations and asks us to come
34:47
Speaker 15: to all kinds of events for their board and for
34:50
Speaker 15: their students and parents, and so it just it depends
34:54
Speaker 15: on what they ask for, and we keep trying constantly.
34:57
Speaker 15: We have a goal to get into every high school
34:59
Speaker 15: at least once a month, but that really looks a
35:02
Speaker 15: lot of different ways, depending on how the schools set
35:04
Speaker 15: up and the way they let colleges have access.
35:07
Speaker 3: Yeah, and again I can tell you, having done outreaching
35:10
Speaker 3: schools back in my state government days, that it all
35:13
Speaker 3: it varies depending on what school it is. But I
35:15
Speaker 3: know that they all try to, you know, try to
35:17
Speaker 3: work with you to get you into the school system.
35:20
Speaker 15: Sure, they've all been really wonderful. It's you know, they
35:23
Speaker 15: have a lot of competing demands for their time too,
35:25
Speaker 15: and so it's sort of a matter of, oh, yeah,
35:27
Speaker 15: we can do that next Tuesday, and so we're happy
35:30
Speaker 15: to show up next Tuesday.
35:31
Speaker 3: You work on their schedule. FAFSA. Any good news in
35:35
Speaker 3: the with the FAFSA world, with the financial aid, gosh.
35:40
Speaker 15: Good news would be really broad. I think what has
35:43
Speaker 15: been great is that the governor did issue that state
35:46
Speaker 15: of emergency, and so for anybody who's a continuing student,
35:49
Speaker 15: anyone who's already receiving any kind of state support through CHS,
35:54
Speaker 15: we're able to process their state financial aid and we
35:57
Speaker 15: can give them state dollars. The state of Virginia has
36:00
Speaker 15: really generous state aid, so it's a lot of students
36:03
Speaker 15: who we can help and process right away. For our
36:06
Speaker 15: students who do have to wait for the federal form
36:09
Speaker 15: to go through, we're still seeing errors and the latest
36:13
Speaker 15: update is that used had been saying that they would
36:17
Speaker 15: let us do batch uploads as we found errors, and
36:20
Speaker 15: then they changed their mind. So we have to do
36:22
Speaker 15: those uploads individually as we come across them. And they
36:25
Speaker 15: think every college in the state is really struggling with
36:29
Speaker 15: making sure students have the aid they need to be
36:32
Speaker 15: able to start classes.
36:33
Speaker 3: Indeed, and it's been a mass doctor Sacks. I mean,
36:35
Speaker 3: it really really has. I think you would probably.
36:37
Speaker 5: Go along with that, oh for sure.
36:39
Speaker 15: And it's already pretty clear that there are going to
36:41
Speaker 15: be delays going into the next year because the way
36:44
Speaker 15: the IRS transfers data to the United States Department of
36:48
Speaker 15: Education is a little bit wonky, and they can't even
36:51
Speaker 15: use the tables that allow us to know how much
36:53
Speaker 15: money people should get until an appropriation still comes out.
36:57
Speaker 15: And so it's just it's very complicated.
37:00
Speaker 3: It is, all right, let's get it as we close,
37:02
Speaker 3: let's get away from something a little bit less complicated.
37:03
Speaker 3: That's you've got a golf tournament coming up.
37:05
Speaker 5: We do.
37:06
Speaker 15: We're really excited about it. We've never done one before.
37:09
Speaker 15: So October twenty first at Little Creek. It's three hundred dollars.
37:13
Speaker 15: It includes lunch, it includes the cart. It should be
37:15
Speaker 15: a really good time. We hope people come out and
37:17
Speaker 15: support the college. It'll help get scholarships to students.
37:20
Speaker 3: All right, give us the website where they can learn
37:22
Speaker 3: more about anything we talked.
37:23
Speaker 15: About here Bridge Valley dot edu.
37:26
Speaker 3: All right, doctor Sacks. As always, I appreciate you being here.

Speaker 3: gonna upload your show and Lawyer's show from yesterday? Well,
39:03
Speaker 3: there was a major issue and it was company wide
39:08
Speaker 3: as it had to do with streaming, and trust me,
39:11
Speaker 3: we heard about it yesterday, went out sometime I guess Wednesday.
39:14
Speaker 3: They got it prepared about midday yesterday. Unfortunately, no, because
39:19
Speaker 3: it got lost and it wasn't just our station, it
39:21
Speaker 3: was all the stations in the building. It was all
39:22
Speaker 3: the stations in the entire company yesterday. So I am
39:27
Speaker 3: very very sorry, but no, those those shows have been lost. However,
39:30
Speaker 3: maybe I can get Emmat Pepper to come back in
39:33
Speaker 3: and we'll recreate the show lot. Maybe we can do that.
39:35
Speaker 3: But now that show has been has been lost. I
39:38
Speaker 3: am very very sorry about that. Hey, look who's here.
39:40
Speaker 3: It's the mayor.
39:41
Speaker 16: Good morning. How are you?
39:42
Speaker 5: How are you?
39:43
Speaker 17: I thought my brother in law was the biggest Elvis fan,
39:46
Speaker 17: but I we're obviously not worthy.
39:50
Speaker 3: All right, let me ask you this question. Yeah, because
39:52
Speaker 3: I got a lot of that I want to get to,
39:54
Speaker 3: and so I got to get a break into. Are
39:56
Speaker 3: you old enough to remember Elvis alive?
40:00
Speaker 16: I was born in seventy one.
40:01
Speaker 3: Okay, okay, well but I'm just saying just because I mean,
40:03
Speaker 3: I know you're year younger than I am, but still
40:06
Speaker 3: you may not remember. Do you remember?
40:08
Speaker 17: Well my parents? I mean I think that you know
40:10
Speaker 17: when you're younger, just kind of like my kids. The influences.
40:13
Speaker 17: Do you remember or is it just your parents continuing
40:16
Speaker 17: to play records or sing songs or things like that.
40:20
Speaker 17: So do I remember? I guess having him, Well, here's
40:24
Speaker 17: the thing. He was always a big influence in our music.
40:27
Speaker 17: My dad was a big, big music guy. Yeah, so
40:30
Speaker 17: we always had music playing. So do I remember listening
40:32
Speaker 17: to just music growing up?
40:33
Speaker 18: Yeah?
40:33
Speaker 16: Absolutely.
40:33
Speaker 3: Do you remember where you were when you found out
40:36
Speaker 3: Elvis passed? Now I do. I was, Yeah, I was
40:39
Speaker 3: about to go into the second grade. And before you
40:42
Speaker 3: say it, it was the only year I was in second grade.
40:44
Speaker 3: You don't need to refer to it just my second
40:46
Speaker 3: year and second grade, because I know you're thinking that.
40:48
Speaker 3: But so, yeah, my second grade, about to go into
40:51
Speaker 3: second grade, and my mother had picked me. I hadn't
40:54
Speaker 3: started school yet, and I had to tag along with
40:57
Speaker 3: her for a hair appointment at the salon to get
41:00
Speaker 3: that idea.
41:01
Speaker 16: Do you remember now my brother in law would tell you.
41:03
Speaker 3: I heard it on the radio. Yeah, I heard it
41:04
Speaker 3: on the radio. I heard it on the radio station
41:06
Speaker 3: Logan that he had passed, and I at my uh
41:10
Speaker 3: I was six, about to turn seven, and was devastated.
41:13
Speaker 16: Yeah, I was.
41:14
Speaker 3: I was devastated. Yeah, all right, so I gotta get that.
41:19
Speaker 3: Let's give a big shout out to Danny Jones. Today
41:21
Speaker 3: is Danny's birthday.
41:22
Speaker 16: Happy birthday, May. I spoke to him yesterday. Happy birthday, mayor.
41:25
Speaker 3: All right, So Danny Avid listener to the show Freaklent
41:28
Speaker 3: guests to the show here and unhoppy. So happy birthday
41:31
Speaker 3: former Mayor Danny Jones.
41:33
Speaker 17: You know, I'm so thankful to be able to pick
41:36
Speaker 17: up a telephone, pick it his brain, talk to him
41:40
Speaker 17: about things in the city. Hey, what happened back then?
41:43
Speaker 17: And what do you think about this? Because I think
41:45
Speaker 17: that that is lost sometimes when you you walk into
41:49
Speaker 17: an office, people who have been there, we don't look backwards.
41:52
Speaker 16: I've done this with Mayor Jones.
41:55
Speaker 17: I've done this with Mayor Goldman as well. They're just
41:59
Speaker 17: good sources to continue on. You can't serve as mayor
42:02
Speaker 17: for sixteen years and not have still great information or
42:07
Speaker 17: ideas or thoughts. And so I'm really I'm really thankful
42:10
Speaker 17: to always have that lifeline and I'm happy that I
42:12
Speaker 17: wish I'm happy birthday.
42:13
Speaker 3: You came out a couple of days ago with the
42:15
Speaker 3: economic impact of Regtta big Presser. I talked about a
42:18
Speaker 3: little bit on the show yesterday. Bottom line on this Mayor,
42:20
Speaker 3: a lot of people came, they spent a lot of money,
42:22
Speaker 3: and a lot of them came from far away.
42:24
Speaker 16: Yeah, and I'm really excited about it.
42:25
Speaker 17: I mean, we went from our first you know, we
42:27
Speaker 17: knew it was successful and actually Mayor Jens and I
42:30
Speaker 17: talked about this yesterday. You know, we're finally hitting the
42:33
Speaker 17: sweet spots. You know it's not going to be more
42:35
Speaker 17: than three four days period at least. Why I'm mayor
42:37
Speaker 17: because that's what we can do to create this type
42:42
Speaker 17: of economic impact. And let me say this, Dave Well,
42:44
Speaker 17: first of all, let me say our first year bringing
42:46
Speaker 17: it back thirty one million, far and away more than
42:48
Speaker 17: we thought. Ever, that's number one, number two. The second
42:52
Speaker 17: year than thirty seven million in this year close to
42:55
Speaker 17: thirty nine million, thirty eight point eight million, So we've
42:59
Speaker 17: gone up. Mother nature has a lot to do with that.
43:01
Speaker 17: Do the bands have a lot to do with that?
43:03
Speaker 17: Somebody asked me that yesterday. I think that people are
43:06
Speaker 17: coming out because of the atmosphere.
43:08
Speaker 16: Who's playing.
43:08
Speaker 17: Certainly you're going to get a you know, a demographic.
43:10
Speaker 17: Oh I love to see the Beatles, I love to
43:12
Speaker 17: see Vanillas, I love to see But you're coming for
43:16
Speaker 17: the total experience. Whoever is playing that genre. Oh, I
43:19
Speaker 17: like country, You're probably coming on a country night, but
43:21
Speaker 17: you're coming out for all of the other things that
43:23
Speaker 17: were Goda brings economic impact. Let me let me talk
43:26
Speaker 17: about that for a second. People say, well, what is
43:28
Speaker 17: she going to do with that thirty eight million? Then well,
43:31
Speaker 17: it's not my money, it's your money. And by the way,
43:33
Speaker 17: it's hotels and businesses and restaurants. It was created and
43:37
Speaker 17: what is so special about this? And this is what
43:40
Speaker 17: the governor knows, This is what Secretary Ruby knows. Tourism
43:46
Speaker 17: is economic development and to continue to have a vibrant
43:50
Speaker 17: and thriving economies in different cities across West Virginia, you
43:55
Speaker 17: have to have those type of events to create this
43:57
Speaker 17: type of economic impact. It's important to fill her hotels,
44:00
Speaker 17: it's important to fill restaurants for one thousand different reasons
44:04
Speaker 17: more than just the thirty eight point eight million. Twenty
44:07
Speaker 17: two percent, Dave, twenty two percent of the people who
44:10
Speaker 17: showed up for regatta were from fifty miles plus out.
44:14
Speaker 17: Pittsburgh is our second largest market all daily Bluefield Beckley's
44:18
Speaker 17: are number one.
44:19
Speaker 16: I sold any day. I love that.
44:22
Speaker 17: Then Pittsburgh, well, that's that is an opportunity. Any mayor,
44:26
Speaker 17: I don't care who you are, any mayor that would
44:28
Speaker 17: look at those numbers would say fabulous, That's an opportunity
44:32
Speaker 17: for me to show off what we have here in
44:34
Speaker 17: the City of Charleston. So you know it's yes, it's
44:38
Speaker 17: economic impact. Yes, it's putting money in the pockets of
44:40
Speaker 17: these small businesses. That is my job, That is a
44:44
Speaker 17: mayor's job to create a thriving economy where small businesses
44:49
Speaker 17: can succeed and where quality of life is special. You know,
44:54
Speaker 17: we had our Capital connector second public meeting yesterday.
44:59
Speaker 3: I want to get in there.
44:59
Speaker 16: Ye.
45:00
Speaker 17: But it's all of those things that you can create
45:04
Speaker 17: space and place. We were Matthew Sutton, who's our chief
45:08
Speaker 17: of staff in the city. You know Matthew, he's a
45:10
Speaker 17: former wrestling fan like you are. For that's what I
45:18
Speaker 17: meant to say. No, if you go into his office,
45:19
Speaker 17: he's super he's super current. He has ring tones. Do
45:23
Speaker 17: you know that for all of us that are wrestling
45:24
Speaker 17: the songs anyway, Yeah, it's great love the passion we
45:30
Speaker 17: were talking about yesterday. Hundreds of hundreds of millions of
45:34
Speaker 17: dollars are coming into the City of Charleston, an investment,
45:38
Speaker 17: you know, not just the TC Energy just not another hotel.
45:42
Speaker 17: You know, there's another bank that's going to be you know,
45:46
Speaker 17: built downtown. This is an exciting, exciting time. But when
45:50
Speaker 17: we're looking at all of those those great businesses that
45:54
Speaker 17: are moving into downtown Charleston. We also have to say
45:57
Speaker 17: what's the quality of life for people here, because that's
45:59
Speaker 17: what people asked for.
46:01
Speaker 3: Let me let me read this because somebody had asked
46:04
Speaker 3: this once before about how these and this is question
46:08
Speaker 3: for you and I have Brady on from top the
46:09
Speaker 3: town triprom CVP. How exactly do you know these things?
46:12
Speaker 17: Yes, it's not licking our finger and putting it in there.
46:14
Speaker 3: How do you know?
46:15
Speaker 17: Yeah, we know because we have a company that we
46:17
Speaker 17: work with and I say we in the general we
46:19
Speaker 17: have CVB and cities all.
46:21
Speaker 16: Across the country do this.
46:23
Speaker 17: There are organizations that take the amount of money, uh
46:27
Speaker 17: that hotels have made, B and O the sales that
46:31
Speaker 17: we make at regatta, and there is a formula and
46:35
Speaker 17: a calculation. And oh, by the way, let me just
46:38
Speaker 17: say this. We are so conservative, so conservative because we
46:44
Speaker 17: want to make sure is there any room for air here?
46:46
Speaker 17: Can we be overestimating? Underestimate? So we are overestdy mainly.
46:50
Speaker 17: But are we being very conservative? But there is a
46:52
Speaker 17: formula and there are companies that do this. As a
46:55
Speaker 17: matter of fact, an organization in West Virginia hit me
46:57
Speaker 17: yesterday and said, I want the company that you use
47:01
Speaker 17: because we're trying to figure out what is our value.
47:04
Speaker 17: Because I will say this, listen, it's not friend business, Dave,
47:08
Speaker 17: it's show business. If I give you a dollar, you
47:12
Speaker 17: better give me three back that it's your money. And
47:16
Speaker 17: so you know, somebody said that the other day, how
47:18
Speaker 17: long is it how much money does it take to
47:20
Speaker 17: put on regatta? Well, it's a million bucks. It's a
47:23
Speaker 17: million bucks. Is it your money? It's mainly sponsorship money.
47:27
Speaker 17: That's the meat and potatoes of the money that we get.
47:30
Speaker 17: So it's in COVID, it's w W. Thomas Hospitals, it's
47:33
Speaker 17: better Homes and gardens, it's TC Energy, it's the folks
47:38
Speaker 17: who are investing in this because, oh, by the way,
47:41
Speaker 17: they know what we know.
47:43
Speaker 16: It's good for the community.
47:44
Speaker 3: All Right, we got to leave it right there. We'll
47:46

Speaker 3: To Dave Alan showing five eighty live presented apart by
50:26
Speaker 3: the General Hardware of Windfield and Milton and General Lumber
50:28
Speaker 3: of Windfield the mayors here, tech says Dave, can you
50:30
Speaker 3: ask the mayor about the possibility of incorporating a fishing
50:33
Speaker 3: dock or a pier in the west Side east Side
50:36
Speaker 3: Connection project. There's a few goods safe or handicapped accessible
50:39
Speaker 3: places to fish that can all river from the shore
50:42
Speaker 3: anywhere between Magic Island and the Capitol. And there's a
50:44
Speaker 3: lot of record breaking catfish in there. Just starting staring
50:48
Speaker 3: and laughing at us texts.
50:49
Speaker 12: They're huge.
50:50
Speaker 16: Oh my gosh, they're huge.
50:51
Speaker 17: Actually, somebody who came to our public meeting last night
50:53
Speaker 17: we had the second of a three series of public
50:55
Speaker 17: meeting on the Capital Connector ripping up from Magic Island
50:58
Speaker 17: to the thirty fifth Street Bridge and up Green. The
51:00
Speaker 17: answer is yes, there are some great concepts and designs
51:05
Speaker 17: for not only more places to fish, but also the
51:09
Speaker 17: number one request we have for access to the river kayaks.
51:13
Speaker 17: I want to put my kayak in the river. Amy,
51:15
Speaker 17: make me, you know, give me a safe place to do.
51:17
Speaker 17: That's we're working on it.
51:18
Speaker 3: What is the next step in the capital connect The next.
51:20
Speaker 17: Step is we took all of the information and all
51:22
Speaker 17: the outstanding input. By the way, our first meeting we
51:24
Speaker 17: had like seventy five people. Last night we had sixty
51:27
Speaker 17: hundreds and hundreds of people have emailed us and text
51:30
Speaker 17: us or just even call the mayor's office and say, hey,
51:33
Speaker 17: you know just like this, Dave, can you do this
51:34
Speaker 17: for us? We are putting all of those together. We'll
51:37
Speaker 17: have one more public meeting because we want to make sure, Oh,
51:40
Speaker 17: by the way, we get it right. Twenty five million
51:43
Speaker 17: dollars in federal funding. Couldn't have done it without Capito,
51:46
Speaker 17: couldn't have done it out Senator Mansion. Those two senators
51:49
Speaker 17: have been outstanding, outstanding for the city of Charleston. I mean,
51:54
Speaker 17: obviously the state of West Virginia, but for myopic reasons,
51:57
Speaker 17: we would have never gotten that twenty five million without
51:59
Speaker 17: Senator Capito Senator Mansion, and so it's federal money, but
52:02
Speaker 17: we want to make sure we're doing right by it.
52:04
Speaker 3: I had a quick text here somebody wanted to thank
52:06
Speaker 3: you for your help on the Daverton project. Last time
52:08
Speaker 3: you were on the show, we talked about that Mayor,
52:11
Speaker 3: I gotta go.
52:12
Speaker 16: Thank you, appreciate it.
52:13
Speaker 3: Thanks a lot for being here. Hoppy coming up with

Speaker 3: a talk line at ten oh six. Steam release coming

52:20
Speaker 3: always a highlight of the show. On this show on Monday,
52:23
Speaker 3: we want to talk about families. Tony Hodge wrote an
52:26
Speaker 3: op ed and the Gazette mail last week about the
52:29
Speaker 3: diminishing role that seems to families in America. We're talking
52:31
Speaker 3: about that. Plus Frick Cavater from Charleston Urban Works will
