Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Craigway Cameron Parker with you. What we're going to do
- 0:03Speaker 1: here coming up in a few minutes. For those of
- 0:04Speaker 1: you who missed out on the Sark media availability that
- 0:08Speaker 1: we aired in the two o'clock hour, we're going to
- 0:10Speaker 1: re erit here coming up in a few minutes. So
- 0:13Speaker 1: we'll do that and you'll get a chance to hear
- 0:16Speaker 1: that was from the SEC conference call. So you'll get
- 0:20Speaker 1: a chance to hear Longhorn's head coach, Steve Sarkisian there
- 0:23Speaker 1: on the SEC teleconference. As it is, you know, we're
- 0:27Speaker 1: back in this regular mode of Sark on Monday, and
- 0:32Speaker 1: then on Wednesday you hear the SEC teleconference, and then
- 0:36Speaker 1: on Thursdays is when you get the opportunity to hear
- 0:41Speaker 1: from him in his final media availability of the week.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And in that final media availability of the week is
- 0:51Speaker 1: largely a local media and you hear some interesting things
- 0:59Speaker 1: more quite often out of the local media. I wonder
- 1:02Speaker 1: Cam if some of that is just because of the
- 1:05Speaker 1: familiarity involved. You know, he knows a lot of the
- 1:11Speaker 1: uh you know, the local writers and broadcasters pretty well,
- 1:14Speaker 1: so sometimes it can make it sound a little more informal. Also,
- 1:18Speaker 1: by the same token, Sark won't pull any punches. He is,
- 1:23Speaker 1: as we heard in the two o'clock hour. You know,
- 1:25Speaker 1: because you knows Ship Brown very well, you can you
- 1:27Speaker 1: can give him kind of a short retort on something
- 1:29Speaker 1: like that. It's the people, you.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Know, right, Yeah, I mean we hear Kirk Bowles or
- 1:33Speaker 2: Cedric Holden. You know they'll make they'll make some jokes
- 1:36Speaker 2: to start off, and you know Sark will laugh and
- 1:39Speaker 2: appreciate it. And you know you're the same way, Creig.
- 1:40Speaker 2: You have that relationship with him versus you know, an
- 1:43Speaker 2: outside reporter who also you know, it's in being in sports.
- 1:47Speaker 2: It's weird because we know these guys, but we actually
- 1:49Speaker 2: we don't know them, right. We talked to them, we
- 1:51Speaker 2: know when they're in their press conferences or after games,
- 1:53Speaker 2: but we don't know them. And you know, they probably
- 1:56Speaker 2: they remember what we look like, but you know, they
- 1:58Speaker 2: probably don't remember our names unless we're on Twitter trashing
- 2:01Speaker 2: them or writing hit pieces like that. So it's always
- 2:05Speaker 2: an interesting dynamic to see the reporter relationship with the
- 2:09Speaker 2: player and the coach. And it's always fun with Sark
- 2:12Speaker 2: because he'll always give pretty insightful answers. But then if
- 2:16Speaker 2: you ask him a question he doesn't like, or if
- 2:18Speaker 2: you don't ask the question the right way, he will
- 2:20Speaker 2: make sure that you know it, as he has done
- 2:23Speaker 2: many times this year. And same thing with Nick Saban,
- 2:26Speaker 2: same thing with Bill Belichick, two guys who definitely have
- 2:28Speaker 2: had an influence on him in his life his coaching.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Well.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And here's the other thing with Sark, and he said
- 2:36Speaker 1: it on air, he has said it on Longhorn Weekly, which,
- 2:40Speaker 1: by the way, it's coming your way tonight, six o'clock
- 2:44Speaker 1: Longhorn Weekly from Pluckers the West Campus location. We record
- 2:48Speaker 1: the program at six. It'll air tomorrow night at seven,
- 2:51Speaker 1: preceded by a live edition of Longhorn Weekly with Rodney Terry,
- 2:56Speaker 1: the men's basketball coach, at six o'clock mark. So it's
- 2:58Speaker 1: kind of a double hitter back to back. But the
- 3:00Speaker 1: program on Wednesdays, as we will tonight, and Ricky Williams
- 3:04Speaker 1: our special guest tonight. Oh Ricky, yeah, yeah, the ninet
- 3:07Speaker 1: eight Heightsbend Trophy winner. So he's gonna he's gonna join
- 3:09Speaker 1: us out there. But what I started to say was, uh,
- 3:14Speaker 1: Sark kind of he laughs about this, and he says,
- 3:16Speaker 1: beyonco he's referring to John Bianco, the Associo Athletic director
- 3:20Speaker 1: for any media relations gets on me sometimes if I
- 3:23Speaker 1: if I'm a little too short in my answer with
- 3:25Speaker 1: a reporter, but what he's saying is he said it.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It comes down to are you asking a question that
- 3:33Speaker 1: makes sense or are you asking a question to get
- 3:39Speaker 1: a click or a hit or something like that, because
- 3:41Speaker 1: if it's a legitimate question in his eyes, he'll definitely
- 3:45Speaker 1: make every effort answer. That's what you'll hear in the
- 3:47Speaker 1: press conference, but by the in the uh, in the teleconference,
- 3:51Speaker 1: but by the same token, you know, comes strong, you know,
- 3:56Speaker 1: be understand what you're asking and uh. That's that's when
- 4:00Speaker 1: he gets, you know, a little bit. I don't know
- 4:04Speaker 1: if sideways is the right word, but you'll you'll say,
- 4:06Speaker 1: I don't understand what you're talking about, you know, and
- 4:09Speaker 1: you have to do a better job of asking. In
- 4:11Speaker 1: his mind, you have to do a better job of
- 4:13Speaker 1: asking the question then the way he hears it the
- 4:17Speaker 1: first time from you. But again a lot of that
- 4:20Speaker 1: is down to interpretation and reporting. I didn't ask you
- 4:23Speaker 1: about this, Let me ask you about it now. Did
- 4:27Speaker 1: you follow all of that that crazy stuff that was
- 4:30Speaker 1: going on? I guess it was reported from barstool about
- 4:34Speaker 1: quinn Ewers, and it was a screenshot at something that
- 4:37Speaker 1: looked like it had some really unsavory things texting what
- 4:43Speaker 1: between himself and a young lady or something. Turned out
- 4:45Speaker 1: it wasn't his his account, wasn't his phone. Barstool actually
- 4:50Speaker 1: apologized sort of, they did that. Castillano's apology apologies and
- 4:56Speaker 1: a Castiano's deep drive to write and that's going to
- 4:58Speaker 1: make it afford to nothing game, right, So they did
- 5:00Speaker 1: they did that, So they kind of half apologized on
- 5:04Speaker 1: that deal. But in this world that we live in
- 5:08Speaker 1: right now, it happens a lot. I mean, people are
- 5:13Speaker 1: so interested in being first or fast or whatever that
- 5:17Speaker 1: sometimes some of the details get left by the roadside.
- 5:20Speaker 2: And it happens a lot in social media, and you
- 5:22Speaker 2: know a lot of cat fishing, and you know, deep
- 5:24Speaker 2: fakes and a lot of stuff going on right now
- 5:27Speaker 2: with AI with things, you know, with was it a
- 5:30Speaker 2: President elect Trump said or other things that are going
- 5:33Speaker 2: around that just aren't true. And you know, the same
- 5:35Speaker 2: thing happens all the time with screenshots and it's always
- 5:37Speaker 2: from a barstool account or a shady account. It's never official.
- 5:42Speaker 2: But it picks up traction because you know, either people
- 5:44Speaker 2: want to believe it or people just find it funny
- 5:48Speaker 2: and they don't you know, there is no gatekeeping anymore
- 5:51Speaker 2: in our society in terms of what's real and what's
- 5:54Speaker 2: not real, and gets picked up and aggregated and then
- 5:56Speaker 2: it ends up on the stephen A. Smith Show, or
- 5:59Speaker 2: it happened with Pat Mafee on Monday with with a
- 6:02Speaker 2: fake staff that they talked about, and that's on ESPN.
- 6:04Speaker 2: You know, there's millions of people tuning in the same
- 6:07Speaker 2: thing happened with you know, with Quinn. Then now I
- 6:09Speaker 2: think another bolster, Willcount, did the same thing with Marcel Reed,
- 6:12Speaker 2: you know, a fake screenshot and stuff, so and everything
- 6:14Speaker 2: can be altered. The sad thing is it's just if
- 6:17Speaker 2: you we learned this in journalism school. It's just you know,
- 6:20Speaker 2: for anything, you know, whether it's if it's a quote
- 6:23Speaker 2: or a story, you always want to have at least
- 6:25Speaker 2: two sources, right, And I think that's gone by the
- 6:27Speaker 2: wayside right now, especially in sports reporting with some of
- 6:30Speaker 2: these things where they just care about the clicks and
- 6:33Speaker 2: the hits and the fuse and they you know, they
- 6:35Speaker 2: don't care about properly vetting out the information. And that's
- 6:38Speaker 2: what barstool is, right. They just they want the clicks
- 6:41Speaker 2: and the fuse and the shares. They don't care if
- 6:43Speaker 2: it's accurate or not. You know, I'm sure the person
- 6:44Speaker 2: put out there, you know, maybe he was forced to apologize,
- 6:47Speaker 2: but you know, if he was a smart first of
- 6:49Speaker 2: all white, who even cares what he does? What Quinn
- 6:52Speaker 2: yours does on his own time?
- 6:53Speaker 1: Is quin you weres personal if it was him? Right,
- 6:57Speaker 1: even if it was.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Him, But you know, I think I don't know if
- 6:59Speaker 2: it came from the A and M barstool account or
- 7:01Speaker 2: just the SEC barstoolccount, but who cares whatever it turns
- 7:05Speaker 2: out to be fake. But there's people out there who
- 7:07Speaker 2: believe it. I had someone you know, sending me that
- 7:09Speaker 2: tweet yesterday. I was a look at Quinn yours. It's like,
- 7:12Speaker 2: it's not real, dude, It's not real. But the thing is,
- 7:14Speaker 2: there's people out there, sadly who believe it. And this
- 7:16Speaker 2: happens all across different types, especially not just sports.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Yes, part of the world we live in.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Before we get to the break and then we'll and
- 7:23Speaker 1: then we'll hear from sart from the SEC teleconference I
- 7:26Speaker 1: want to give you the opportunity, your chance to win
- 7:29Speaker 1: a pair of tickets to the Story so Far at
- 7:34Speaker 1: December seventh. Camera discovered yesterday that that's a band, right,
- 7:38Speaker 1: I think so? Yeah, you were looking it up. Come
- 7:43Speaker 1: back from break one of these days and listen to music.
- 7:45Speaker 1: It might be a down we actually know pretty well. Yeah,
- 7:48Speaker 1: the Story so Far. It's at Boeing Center at tech
- 7:51Speaker 1: Port on December seventh, and all you have to do
- 7:55Speaker 1: is visit AM thirteen under the zone dot com to
- 7:59Speaker 1: enter for your chance to win. You don't even have
- 8:01Speaker 1: to do the talkback feature to win tickets to see
- 8:06Speaker 1: the Story so Far pair of tickets. You can enter
- 8:10Speaker 1: by visiting AM thirteen hundred zone dot com and then
- 8:14Speaker 1: you'll have a chance to win a pair of tickets
- 8:16Speaker 1: to see the story so Far. Cameron's going to do
- 8:19Speaker 1: some more research on the story so Far, and it's
- 8:23Speaker 1: and it's not just the story so far. It's the
- 8:24Speaker 1: story so far with an exclamation.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Exclamation yeah on the end, not a question marks the
- 8:30Speaker 2: story so far.
- 8:31Speaker 1: No story so far, which is not to be confused
- 8:33Speaker 1: with the ban from the sixties, question Mark and the Mysterians,
- 8:37Speaker 1: but had a big hit ninety six tiers. Not a
- 8:41Speaker 1: sure if you say so. Yeah, yeah, not a question
- 8:45Speaker 1: on that. All right, we'll continue on the yacht Rock
- 8:48Speaker 1: Wednesday coming up when we continue here on Sports Radio
- 8:51Speaker 1: AM thirteen under the Zone and the iHeartRadio app. All right,
- 8:56Speaker 1: let's hear from Longhorn's head coach Steve Sarkisian. Again this
- 8:59Speaker 1: was we brought it to you in the two o'clock hour,
- 9:01Speaker 1: but uh, for those of you missed it, this is
- 9:03Speaker 1: the SEC teleconference. Now, this is when sark addresses the
- 9:08Speaker 1: questions and you'll hear them from the moderator of the
- 9:11Speaker 1: SEC and the and the questions being asked. We'd like
- 9:14Speaker 1: for you to be able to you know, kind of
- 9:15Speaker 1: invite you in and let you hear a little bit
- 9:17Speaker 1: of this. So, uh, this is Logwarts head coach Steve
- 9:20Speaker 1: Sarkegan from just a little while ago with this week's
- 9:23Speaker 1: SEC teleconference.
- 9:25Speaker 5: Yeah, great opportunity to go on the road to restore
- 9:29Speaker 5: you know, historic rivalry here at the University of Texas,
- 9:32Speaker 5: one that Texas and Arkansas had battled for a long
- 9:36Speaker 5: long time.
- 9:36Speaker 6: Some great teams, some some great games, and you know,
- 9:40Speaker 6: for this for this rivalry to be restored and know
- 9:42Speaker 6: so much is made in college football right now about realignment,
- 9:46Speaker 6: conference realignment and teams losing rivalries. Uh we we've picked
- 9:50Speaker 6: up two great ones this being the first year with Arkansas,
- 9:53Speaker 6: so looking forward to the opportunity Saturday.
- 9:59Speaker 4: First of all, we had a Tom Murphy the Arkansas Democrat.
- 10:01Speaker 6: Is that.
- 10:03Speaker 7: Hey, Steve, I'm wondering what your take is on the
- 10:06Speaker 7: quarterback Taylor Green, what what dimensions he give to them?
- 10:09Speaker 7: And also his backup mount of Kott Singleton's gotten enough
- 10:12Speaker 7: action that you probably could have a comment on.
- 10:14Speaker 8: Him as well.
- 10:15Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I think Taylor is a you know,
- 10:18Speaker 6: fantastic talent. You know, he's got obviously has the size,
- 10:21Speaker 6: the arm strength, the ability to run the football and
- 10:25Speaker 6: quarterback driven runs, the ability to buy time, make all
- 10:29Speaker 6: the throws down the field.
- 10:30Speaker 8: He covers a lot of ground, you know a lot
- 10:33Speaker 8: of times you watch the tape and you like, how.
- 10:36Speaker 6: Did he cover so much ground? And it doesn't look
- 10:38Speaker 6: like he's moving that fast, but yet he is, you know,
- 10:40Speaker 6: at sixty six two and thirty pounds, so really really
- 10:44Speaker 6: good talent, you know. Obviously, you know the backup is
- 10:47Speaker 6: a little bit different build more of kind of that
- 10:50Speaker 6: stocky running back style, but yet still has the ability
- 10:53Speaker 6: to do what they do. I think coach Petrino has
- 10:55Speaker 6: done a great job with both of them and coach Pittman.
- 10:59Speaker 6: I mean, anytime you're you're abage nearly three hundred yards
- 11:01Speaker 6: passing and two hundred yards rushing, that's that's a pretty
- 11:04Speaker 6: good offensive football team. And in their system, it definitely
- 11:07Speaker 6: starts with the quarterback.
- 11:09Speaker 7: And last week or last game, Arkasa gave up a
- 11:12Speaker 7: bunch of passing yards and the deep ball. I'm wondering
- 11:15Speaker 7: just what your thoughts are on taking on this defense.
- 11:19Speaker 6: Well, I think they're they're a talented defense. They've had
- 11:21Speaker 6: two weeks to uh to kind of get some things,
- 11:24Speaker 6: you know, shirt up and cleaned up. I know we're
- 11:26Speaker 6: gonna get a great version of them defensively. So you know,
- 11:30Speaker 6: they got really good coaches over there. So I don't
- 11:32Speaker 6: think we can just assume that we're gonna have that
- 11:35Speaker 6: same luxury. You know, we're gonna have to play really
- 11:37Speaker 6: good football offensively. We're need to be balanced, you know,
- 11:41Speaker 6: and that's that's a challenge. Is a very good upfront.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Next to Steve Malta, w'sz.
- 11:52Speaker 9: Hey coach Hope you're doing well today, sir, Thank you.
- 11:56Speaker 9: I heard you earlier in the on Monday, I mentioned
- 12:00Speaker 9: about maybe not pivoting towards former players talking because of
- 12:05Speaker 9: the emotions that they have. How do you walk that
- 12:08Speaker 9: line of who you want to talk to your team
- 12:11Speaker 9: during a season, coach.
- 12:13Speaker 8: Uh, I like to lean towards me.
- 12:18Speaker 10: That's not to take anything away from from anybody else.
- 12:22Speaker 10: You know, We've got some great people, some great speakers
- 12:25Speaker 10: that we bring in throughout the summer, throughout training camp
- 12:28Speaker 10: to speak to our team and to a fantastic job.
- 12:31Speaker 10: But when the season rolls around, I think the consistent
- 12:34Speaker 10: messaging throughout throughout the fall is important and that our
- 12:39Speaker 10: that our players understand why we're.
- 12:41Speaker 6: Talking about specific things on certain weeks.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Uh.
- 12:44Speaker 6: So, generally I'm the one that talks to our team
- 12:46Speaker 6: from a motivational standpoint. Now that the players talk as well,
- 12:49Speaker 6: so I give them that credit. But I but I
- 12:52Speaker 6: do think that that the messaging is important. But but again,
- 12:55Speaker 6: we rely on a lot of those outside speakers throughout
- 12:57Speaker 6: the summer and throughout training camp to get ourselves ready
- 13:00Speaker 6: for the season.
- 13:01Speaker 9: And something Sam mentioned earlier in the teleconference, coach was
- 13:06Speaker 9: the energy in the building there in twenty one. Now,
- 13:08Speaker 9: I know you were on the short end of the stick,
- 13:10Speaker 9: but I just in terms of that rivalry in the building,
- 13:15Speaker 9: did you feel that intensity as well back in twenty
- 13:18Speaker 9: one in Faible?
- 13:19Speaker 6: Coach, Yeah, I'm not sure if there was even a
- 13:21Speaker 6: stick for us to get a short end up at night.
- 13:23Speaker 6: We got our ass whips, so hopefully we played better Saturday.
- 13:26Speaker 8: Thank you, coach.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Bexas bob O the ark Sood Democrat?
- 13:35Speaker 6: Is that?
- 13:37Speaker 11: Hey, Steve, I don't know if I heard that saying
- 13:39Speaker 11: before that. That's that's a good one. Hey, Lucas, you
- 13:44Speaker 11: know Arkansas's tight end. I think Texas offered him. I
- 13:47Speaker 11: don't know if you remember recruiting. I know you guys
- 13:49Speaker 11: recruit a lot of big time players, but a number
- 13:52Speaker 11: nine for ursaw tight end.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Just wonder what your take is on him.
- 13:56Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, he's a guy that definitely, you know,
- 13:58Speaker 6: he gets a lot of targets. You know, they they
- 14:00Speaker 6: you know, I think again, Coach Petrino does a great
- 14:02Speaker 6: job of scheming and working to get people isolated one
- 14:06Speaker 6: on one and opening zones and and he's a huge
- 14:10Speaker 6: you know product of that. You know, it leads him
- 14:12Speaker 6: in touchdown receptions. And he's a guy that has a
- 14:16Speaker 6: tight end. They move around and they create you know,
- 14:18Speaker 6: he's really the primary on a lot of things that
- 14:20Speaker 6: they do.
- 14:22Speaker 11: And then now I know you're not all the way
- 14:24Speaker 11: through the SEC schedule, yeah, but you're you're a good
- 14:26Speaker 11: way through, and just wondering what what the grind has
- 14:29Speaker 11: been like compared to what's the reality that's been like,
- 14:32Speaker 11: compared to Mabe.
- 14:32Speaker 8: What the expectation was, how that's been for y'all.
- 14:36Speaker 6: Well, you know, I think that that we had a
- 14:37Speaker 6: pretty good understanding coming in that there was going to
- 14:40Speaker 6: be a physical component to this right and and how physical, uh,
- 14:45Speaker 6: the game is in the SEC at the line of scrimmage,
- 14:48Speaker 6: and and this week's no different. You know, Arkansas is
- 14:50Speaker 6: very good at the line of scrimmage. They have big people,
- 14:53Speaker 6: they're they're built like a lot of the rest of
- 14:55Speaker 6: the SEC is built. I think one of the one
- 14:58Speaker 6: of the bigger challenges in this conference is is the
- 15:00Speaker 6: metal intensity that you have to have week to week.
- 15:03Speaker 8: There are no layups in this league. You know, you
- 15:06Speaker 8: have to come ready to play week in and week out. Uh,
- 15:09Speaker 8: and the moment, the moment, you don't you get beat.
- 15:12Speaker 6: And there's been some really good teams in our league
- 15:14Speaker 6: that have probably lost games that they're looking back and
- 15:16Speaker 6: they're kicking themselves that maybe they weren't quite as ready
- 15:19Speaker 6: to play.
- 15:20Speaker 8: And so I think that's.
- 15:20Speaker 6: Probably the bigger challenge is getting the getting our players
- 15:24Speaker 6: every Monday in the right frame of mind to prepare
- 15:27Speaker 6: the right way, uh for the for the task at hand,
- 15:31Speaker 6: which part of which is again that physical nature at
- 15:33Speaker 6: the line of scrimmage.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Thanks yep, Nexus Kurt Bowles the Hoaston Chronicle.
- 15:45Speaker 12: See because Taylor Green is so big, or you're bringing
- 15:48Speaker 12: in Vince Young to run the scout team, I'd love to.
- 15:52Speaker 10: I don't.
- 15:52Speaker 8: Uy's kind of busy right now, but yeah, very somewhere, you.
- 15:57Speaker 12: Know, because he's such a threat to run. I have
- 16:00Speaker 12: a lot of Arkansas opponents, you know, run zone coverage
- 16:03Speaker 12: to you know, keep their eyes in the backfield so
- 16:06Speaker 12: they're you know, not man the man running down the
- 16:09Speaker 12: field away from him.
- 16:10Speaker 6: Well, I think, you know, I think everybody's you know,
- 16:12Speaker 6: tried different things, some successful, some not so successful. Right,
- 16:18Speaker 6: they don't average you know, five hundred yards a game offensively,
- 16:22Speaker 6: you know, if people are shutting them down, and so
- 16:24Speaker 6: I think, like anything, when to play good defense is
- 16:27Speaker 6: one you try to develop a plan that you know
- 16:31Speaker 6: you has a solid foundation and that you have the
- 16:33Speaker 6: auxiliary calls off of that off of that plan so
- 16:37Speaker 6: that you're not just a sit and duck, you know,
- 16:39Speaker 6: sit and target, you know, because you know, again they've
- 16:42Speaker 6: got great experience on that on their on their coaching
- 16:44Speaker 6: staff with coach Pittman and coach Petrino, and so you know,
- 16:48Speaker 6: I think I think varying.
- 16:49Speaker 8: Looks is going to be key.
- 16:52Speaker 6: I think putting ourselves in position to guard them because
- 16:55Speaker 6: they have plenty of weapons to throw the ball to.
- 16:58Speaker 6: But yet you know, make sure that that we try
- 17:01Speaker 6: to try to contain him against not only the designed runs,
- 17:04Speaker 6: but again the off schedule runs, and so, like I said,
- 17:07Speaker 6: it's a heck of a challenge.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Thank you, Thanks Is and more.
- 17:13Speaker 13: Richardson of Orange Bloods, Good afternoon.
- 17:17Speaker 8: Coach.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Coach Quinn has played in a lot of obviously big
- 17:22Speaker 3: games on the road with you.
- 17:24Speaker 8: Guys throughout his career.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Talk about from your perspective what you've seen from him
- 17:31Speaker 3: when he goes in on the road. It seems like
- 17:33Speaker 3: he's pretty unflappable, and is there a road game that
- 17:37Speaker 3: kind of sticks out to you the most that you're
- 17:40Speaker 3: really impressed with, whether it's for preparation.
- 17:43Speaker 8: Or how he played well. Yeah, I think again, I think.
- 17:48Speaker 6: His general demeanor is helpful when you go on the road.
- 17:51Speaker 6: You know, Quinn is a very calm, cool customer. You know,
- 17:55Speaker 6: he doesn't he doesn't get too emotional.
- 17:57Speaker 8: Too high, too low.
- 17:59Speaker 6: It's pretty even, and I think that's important when you're
- 18:01Speaker 6: on the road. I think that's important for us as
- 18:04Speaker 6: a team. I think poised composure is always critical when
- 18:08Speaker 6: you're on the road, and he exemplifies that, and so
- 18:12Speaker 6: that's helpful. I think probably the best one that I
- 18:15Speaker 6: can recall is going into Tuscaloosa a year ago.
- 18:18Speaker 8: I felt like he was really dialed in, and he was.
- 18:21Speaker 6: He was really just in a great frame of mind,
- 18:24Speaker 6: and I think that that permeated throughout the entire offense
- 18:28Speaker 6: that day. That night, you know, we had no pre
- 18:30Speaker 6: stat penalties in a very tough environment, which tells me
- 18:33Speaker 6: we were poised.
- 18:34Speaker 8: We were composed, but we were focused.
- 18:36Speaker 6: You know, the right type of mental intensity needed in
- 18:39Speaker 6: that environment.
- 18:39Speaker 8: And that's what it's going to take you here Saturday
- 18:41Speaker 8: as well.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Tanxsas Chip Brown of Horns twenty four to seven.
- 18:54Speaker 13: Hey, Steve, I know you mentioned you, you know, wanted
- 18:57Speaker 13: to get the outside zone going, and and.
- 19:00Speaker 8: Uh, what what do you think it is? It's sort
- 19:02Speaker 8: of held it back. We're just we're just not in sync,
- 19:07Speaker 8: you know.
- 19:07Speaker 6: And and like any style of running game that you have,
- 19:11Speaker 6: timing and being in sync is is is really important,
- 19:15Speaker 6: and confidence is really important. And so whether it's angles
- 19:19Speaker 6: on blocks, whether it's run timing with the with the
- 19:21Speaker 6: running back and the offensive line, whether it's vision by
- 19:24Speaker 6: the runners, whether it's you know, our combination of blocks
- 19:28Speaker 6: on the front side or combination of blocks on the backside,
- 19:30Speaker 6: it just it just hasn't quite been in sync.
- 19:32Speaker 8: And so you know, it's, like.
- 19:34Speaker 6: Anything, we've got to emphasize it more. We've got to
- 19:36Speaker 6: put in the time and the effort, which I think
- 19:38Speaker 6: that we're doing, and then we got to start to
- 19:41Speaker 6: find our rhythm there again.
- 19:43Speaker 8: And you know, I talked a lot about.
- 19:44Speaker 6: Going into last week's game about finding our mojo as
- 19:47Speaker 6: an offense, which I think that we did. And this
- 19:50Speaker 6: week it's been about, Okay, how do we how do
- 19:52Speaker 6: we get back to our timing and execution of our
- 19:54Speaker 6: outside zone?
- 19:57Speaker 8: Because at some point, obviously you're.
- 19:59Speaker 13: Gonna need to run it again seven and eight man boxes,
- 20:01Speaker 13: and you've had the rotation at running back, and it's
- 20:05Speaker 13: it's been a lot, a little little different this year
- 20:09Speaker 13: than in years past.
- 20:10Speaker 8: I'm not sure what you're asking me.
- 20:12Speaker 13: Well, just I mean, that's how difficult has it been
- 20:15Speaker 13: to have the rotation at running back and trying to
- 20:19Speaker 13: sync everything up and knowing that, you know, to kill
- 20:23Speaker 13: the clock late in the game, you're gonna have to
- 20:24Speaker 13: run it against seven and eight man boxes or we
- 20:27Speaker 13: can throw it.
- 20:28Speaker 8: I still don't know what you're asking me, But next question,
- 20:32Speaker 8: it's all your time, So thank you today. Thank you.
- 20:36Speaker 1: So there's this week's SEC teleconference with log Worns head
- 20:39Speaker 1: coach Steve Sarkeshan. All Right, we have more some NFL
- 20:43Speaker 1: notes that we have to get to that's coming next
- 20:44Speaker 1: when we continue on sports Radio AM thirteen hunderd the
- 20:46Speaker 1: zone of the iHeartRadio app.
