- 0:00Speaker 1: To Bail to Bail is here.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Four Finger Discounted.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Welcome to four Finger Discounts. With this week, we're doing
- 0:23Speaker 1: a very special mail bag episode. I'm down to and
- 0:25Speaker 1: I am guy answer all your questions. We were recording
- 0:28Speaker 1: this the day after what we call Australia Day or
- 0:31Speaker 1: is it Invasion Day, whatever it's called these days you're
- 0:33Speaker 1: in Australia, but as the day we celebrate our beautiful
- 0:35Speaker 1: country we have here, and Happy Australia Day to all
- 0:37Speaker 1: those listeners out there.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's indeed that feels like a real sort of keg
- 0:41Speaker 2: of dynamite that's waiting to be a little match too.
- 0:43Speaker 2: So I'm just gonna say, yeah, happy January twenty six.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yes, indeed, I've enjoyed your time off from work. Well
- 0:50Speaker 1: what do you do this weekend? Long weekend for you guys, obviously, Yeah,
- 0:52Speaker 1: long weekend for us. Long I live a long weekend,
- 0:56Speaker 1: that's true. I mean I'm always working by never at
- 0:58Speaker 1: a place, so we'll let you know.
- 1:00Speaker 2: And I feel much the same way. I mean, I've
- 1:01Speaker 2: been a bit of a freelancer for most of my careers.
- 1:05Speaker 2: So yeah, the boundary between the weekend and the weekend
- 1:08Speaker 2: is pretty poorous want to do. Look, it was warm,
- 1:11Speaker 2: so I'm trying to sort of keep cool and the
- 1:13Speaker 2: love of the reason. I just sort of hung out,
- 1:16Speaker 2: enjoyed one another's company, ate some nice meals, watch a
- 1:18Speaker 2: bit of TV, Live in the Dream, Live in the Dream.
- 1:21Speaker 1: We took the kids to Melbourne last Friday because Nikola
- 1:25Speaker 1: actually speaking of Australia. She's pasted the citizenship test. She
- 1:29Speaker 1: just has to do the ceremony. That's it. Yeah, so's
- 1:32Speaker 1: the test? Was like she was like studying for us,
- 1:33Speaker 1: Like it's pretty easy. She goes, well, there seven of
- 1:35Speaker 1: this book. It's like forty pages of stuff, and I
- 1:37Speaker 1: was like, I still have heard it's pretty easy. She
- 1:39Speaker 1: gets there, right to do the thing, and there's it.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Just say slavery. That's literally exactly what it was. Yes,
- 1:44Speaker 1: just say slavery. It was like, if your neighbor is
- 1:47Speaker 1: committing a crime, should you let him do it? Be
- 1:49Speaker 1: join in or see tell the police? Question is what
- 1:54Speaker 1: is the crime?
- 1:57Speaker 2: Depends?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Yes? Is it a jeens racking out of his garas? Yeah?
- 2:01Speaker 1: But the Nicola gets there and within fifteen minutes she
- 2:04Speaker 1: was out one hundred percent. She smashed it. We took
- 2:06Speaker 1: the kids the album for that, and we also I
- 2:08Speaker 1: wanted to go check out this video land exhibition thing.
- 2:11Speaker 2: What would you call it installation? Installation perhaps, Yes, you
- 2:16Speaker 2: put some pictures up online for our full finger discount friends,
- 2:20Speaker 2: and you also sent them to me.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Yes, it was at the Immigration Museum. It was great.
- 2:24Speaker 1: So I always say to the kids, you know, go
- 2:27Speaker 1: to the video shop. Go did you caught the video shop?
- 2:28Speaker 1: I caught the video shop when I was little. What
- 2:30Speaker 1: else would you call it? Some people caught the rental store?
- 2:32Speaker 1: Well there is yeah, no, yeah, no attention the video shop.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And now the kids understand what I mean by the
- 2:38Speaker 1: video shop, and they would just blown away. They're like,
- 2:39Speaker 1: look at all the movies. I was like this and I
- 2:41Speaker 1: was watching it. I was like, this is what today's
- 2:44Speaker 1: youth miss, the excitement of going somewhere. All these movies
- 2:48Speaker 1: that were seeing on the shelves. They're probably available on
- 2:51Speaker 1: the streaming services, but that stanning through streaming service doesn't
- 2:55Speaker 1: capture the imagination of going into a store and going
- 2:57Speaker 1: there's that movie and picking it up and looking at
- 2:59Speaker 1: the cover and reading it.
- 3:00Speaker 2: And holding your hand. Cover arts usually pretty interesting, yeah,
- 3:06Speaker 2: as opposed to just.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Tile t just a thumbnail on the screen. Yeah, that
- 3:09Speaker 1: would like, hey, this is down fire and it's this
- 3:11Speaker 1: sounds like these are all available in streaming service, but
- 3:13Speaker 1: you know what the excitement of seeing these movies physical form.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Well, you've got your nice library, yeah, of DVD's and
- 3:19Speaker 2: blue rays in the other room. Some of us are
- 3:22Speaker 2: keeping the keeping them dream alive.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Yeah, the kids do like the vhs I've gotten here,
- 3:26Speaker 1: but I know what I would like, and I can't
- 3:28Speaker 1: find them anywhere. Those shelves that video stores would have
- 3:31Speaker 1: where like the shelves want to slight lean, I can't
- 3:33Speaker 1: find them anywhere. I want one of those to display
- 3:35Speaker 1: my VHS collection, but I can't find them. Well, I said,
- 3:39Speaker 1: we need a little more money, so you know you
- 3:41Speaker 1: can actually get them custom made. Well. I took photos
- 3:43Speaker 1: of them and sent them to my carpenter, a cousin.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I was like, can you build these? And he's like yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 1: I'm like, can you please build somebody He's like, when
- 3:49Speaker 1: I get the time, thank you, you already across it.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yeah, So a carp and a cousin was he named Jesus.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I wish, but I walked in and just like the
- 3:59Speaker 1: carpet even looked like the you had Video Land carp
- 4:02Speaker 1: but it felt like were at the movies.
- 4:03Speaker 2: No, apparently this guy has callum Yeah, has called out.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it's very very very cool. If you if you
- 4:10Speaker 1: do have your page, listen to this and you do
- 4:11Speaker 1: have the time between now and February first go check
- 4:14Speaker 1: it out. It's I think it was like fifteen dollars
- 4:16Speaker 1: for full access to the museum, the Immigration Museum, which
- 4:18Speaker 1: is great in itself. But yeah, Video Land was was
- 4:21Speaker 1: well worth a trip. I really really enjoyed myself.
- 4:23Speaker 2: That sounds like a fantastic weekend. Yeah, it was indeed.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But we've got some questions and some some emails that
- 4:29Speaker 1: have come through, some messages and whatnot. But yeah, if
- 4:31Speaker 1: you want to be a part of the next four
- 4:33Speaker 1: Finger Discount mail bag, you can get in touch with us.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It is mail bag at four finger discount dot com
- 4:39Speaker 1: dot au. Or if you're a patron of the show,
- 4:42Speaker 1: we always post in the in the patroon group asking
- 4:44Speaker 1: for mail bag questions. You guys comment one of those
- 4:45Speaker 1: posts and we shall read out your questions as well.
- 4:48Speaker 1: But we've got some really kind messages coming through in
- 4:50Speaker 1: the in the email of this month, we got this
- 4:52Speaker 1: one here it says, hey, I'd like to read this. Okay,
- 4:55Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Hey my name is Lincoln Kincaid. Awesome name. I'm thirteen
- 5:01Speaker 2: years old. Awesome age and from America. Not a bad place.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Can you just expand on y thirteen is a good age? Well,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you're just discovering all manner of stuff. Being thirteen is great,
- 5:14Speaker 1: but you're just like thirteen years old. Good age. It
- 5:17Speaker 1: can be taken the wrong way by some people who
- 5:19Speaker 1: have dirty minds.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Well, if you were going to clip that and put
- 5:22Speaker 2: it on a loop and put it on make it
- 5:24Speaker 2: like a TikTok or something, then yes, I would have
- 5:26Speaker 2: been I'd be canceled.
- 5:27Speaker 1: And being thirteen is just like a peak between like
- 5:29Speaker 1: ten to thirteen is like peak peak age. I think
- 5:33Speaker 1: it's just like, you know, it's pretty good. You've got
- 5:35Speaker 1: no worries in the world, but you're old enough to
- 5:37Speaker 1: appreciate and you can go the movies.
- 5:39Speaker 2: You were starting to learn more stuff about yourself and
- 5:42Speaker 2: about the world. So yes, thirteen is a good age
- 5:43Speaker 2: to be.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Yeah, continue, Yeah, it's from America.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and it's from America. I wasn't allowed to
- 5:50Speaker 2: watch The Simpsons until about ten months ago. Because my mom.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Mom thought it would be a bad influence on me. Ironically,
- 5:58Speaker 2: she doesn't mind it now and let's my six or
- 6:00Speaker 2: brother watch it now. But my dad eventually convinced her
- 6:05Speaker 2: to let me watch it. Well done, dad, and it
- 6:07Speaker 2: completely changed my whole worldview. Wow, I have never had
- 6:11Speaker 2: a show had so much impact on me, and your
- 6:14Speaker 2: podcast serves as an amazing companion I am now. I'm
- 6:18Speaker 2: currently completely caught up on the Simpsons, but I'm on
- 6:20Speaker 2: season twelve of your podcast, and you don't, and you
- 6:24Speaker 2: do not know how much joy it brings me to
- 6:25Speaker 2: listen to two people with cool Australian accents.
- 6:28Speaker 1: That's right, talk about.
- 6:30Speaker 2: My favorite show. And it was because of you guys,
- 6:32Speaker 2: and I started sneak watching South Park. My mum would freak,
- 6:37Speaker 2: which has led me down a whole new rabbit hole.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I'm sorry, missus Kincaid, but I shout out to Momma Kincaide,
- 6:43Speaker 2: shout out to mom Kincaid. I've listened to you guys
- 6:46Speaker 2: enough that FFD he's down with the lingo, down with
- 6:49Speaker 2: the acronyms is my most listened to podcast, at over
- 6:52Speaker 2: twenty thousand minutes of listening time, about fourteen days, and
- 6:56Speaker 2: I'm a top one percent listener. Suck at Joe Rogan
- 6:59Speaker 2: and go Now. South Park is at number three for
- 7:02Speaker 2: most listened podcasts from me. Keep up the good work, Lincoln.
- 7:06Speaker 1: What a great message, Jane, dude.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Happy to have you on board. We're really glad you
- 7:11Speaker 2: enjoyed the show and our accents. That's a really nice
- 7:15Speaker 2: message to have, because I mean, look here we are,
- 7:18Speaker 2: Dan do On, guys sitting across each other in this
- 7:21Speaker 2: relatively small desk, in this somewhat human room. He's having
- 7:24Speaker 2: to look at this. I'm having to look at that.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I was about to say what a pleasure it is,
- 7:32Speaker 2: but to get this kind of feedback, to know that
- 7:34Speaker 2: we're not just sort of speaking to the void, spitting
- 7:37Speaker 2: at one another, sometimes literally in my case, to know
- 7:41Speaker 2: that a, yeah, someone's enjoying what we're doing, but we've
- 7:46Speaker 2: also been able to, you know, turn them on to
- 7:49Speaker 2: and enhance their enjoyment of shows like The Simpsons and
- 7:51Speaker 2: South Park. The fact that we got someone watching south Park,
- 7:53Speaker 2: I think that's pretty neat, particularly if it sort of
- 7:56Speaker 2: counteracts there what their parents are trying to do.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I think that's that's really cool.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Lincoln We're very happy and to have you on board,
- 8:02Speaker 2: and we hope you continue not just listening to the show,
- 8:05Speaker 2: but enjoying the show for years to come. Yeah, until
- 8:07Speaker 2: you get until you're about fifteen and you're too cool
- 8:10Speaker 2: for this shit.
- 8:11Speaker 1: You don't even have to send it a questions as
- 8:13Speaker 1: you see here from Lincoln, it's just sending a nice message.
- 8:15Speaker 1: We'll get you right out in the mailbag as well.
- 8:16Speaker 1: We love to hear from each and every one of you.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Just we love hearing messages like that. Sure do it
- 8:20Speaker 1: makes you want to keep doing the show, doesn't it? Well? Yes, yeah,
- 8:24Speaker 1: But then this one here is from John Looney, who's
- 8:26Speaker 1: written in many times one of our most interactive engaged
- 8:30Speaker 1: listens we have on our Patreon group and whatnot. He says, Hey, guys,
- 8:33Speaker 1: hope you've been having a good holiday season. I just
- 8:35Speaker 1: wanted to share a little something. I live in Springfield,
- 8:37Speaker 1: Ohio here in the States, and The Simpsons have been
- 8:40Speaker 1: part of my whole life through watching the show, playing games, etc.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I can confirm and have a theory that any town
- 8:45Speaker 1: named Springfield is full of chaos. My Springfield even recently
- 8:48Speaker 1: seen mob Justice Mob Justice long story wow on my
- 8:53Speaker 1: mob justice is a big part of the Simpsons. Now
- 8:58Speaker 1: where I live there is also a Homer so there
- 9:00Speaker 1: was he sent a picture as it had Springfield, but
- 9:03Speaker 1: I haven't included that here obviously, but near where I
- 9:05Speaker 1: live there's also a Homer Road and a Homerville, and
- 9:08Speaker 1: I just found it a little humorous. Thanks again for
- 9:10Speaker 1: all the hard work, and God speed, gentleman from Looney. Ps.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I have some Simpsons in real life stories, but i'll
- 9:15Speaker 1: bug you guys later with those.
- 9:17Speaker 2: We're getting more Looney down the line, which is good news,
- 9:19Speaker 2: and we're always happy to hear from John.
- 9:21Speaker 1: He needs to become a musician, does he?
- 9:24Speaker 2: We can have Oh I got it. It took me
- 9:26Speaker 2: a second, Marjorie, Yes, exactly. Listen to going down to
- 9:31Speaker 2: South Park for more adventures in how guys very slow
- 9:33Speaker 2: on the uptake. Plus, Yeah, I got him John, But
- 9:37Speaker 2: John signs off Looney. I think he likes going by
- 9:39Speaker 2: Looney Loons. Know he's Looney from now on or Loons
- 9:43Speaker 2: because we're austrained.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I's going to say if he was a footballer, Hey loons,
- 9:47Speaker 1: Looney Looney, Ludy Lenny calling for the ballts easier Loon
- 9:49Speaker 1: Lenny Lons lenses at the tongue. Hey lons, looney, Looney,
- 9:54Speaker 1: I'd say, looney, there you go, Looney. So basically we're
- 9:58Speaker 1: gone full circle. Hey, Guy and Dando discovered the show
- 10:01Speaker 1: around six months ago and have almost caught up already.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I've listened to several Simpsons podcasts, and yours is, without
- 10:07Speaker 1: question the most genuine. I love the ill willing to
- 10:09Speaker 1: give the latest season episodes a chance instead of just
- 10:12Speaker 1: shitting all over them. I first started watching The Simpsons
- 10:14Speaker 1: during season nineteen. I'm twenty four mathway out. I yes,
- 10:18Speaker 1: it must work out. So these are the episodes that
- 10:21Speaker 1: I grew up with. My question for you is which
- 10:23Speaker 1: character do you think the Simpsons simply couldn't exist without? Also?
- 10:27Speaker 1: Which character have you growing to appreciate? So two questions.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Your first question, which character do you think the Simpsons
- 10:31Speaker 1: simply couldn't exist without? Well, I mean it could be
- 10:35Speaker 1: really obvious, isn't say Homer? Yeah?
- 10:37Speaker 2: I mean the show is the Simpsons, and I think
- 10:39Speaker 2: Homer is currently premier Simpson.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Right, you couldn't take out I mean the show could
- 10:44Speaker 1: exist without Bart. But you also couldn't take out Bart
- 10:47Speaker 1: because Bart is the the representation that draws kids in.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I think kids aren't watching the show because they find
- 10:54Speaker 1: Homer's antics fun, but they're not relating to Homer. Butt
- 10:58Speaker 1: is what kids are relating to.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's the gateway drug. Yeah, yes, he's the
- 11:03Speaker 2: third tip. Yeah, it's free, yes and yeah or you know,
- 11:08Speaker 2: you come for the Bart, but you stay for the Homer.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Which secondary character do you think the Simpsons couldn't kill
- 11:13Speaker 1: off Poo? I don't think you could get rid of
- 11:21Speaker 1: I wouldn't get rid of mo I thought mo as well, Yeah,
- 11:25Speaker 1: I was sinking Krusty. But he probably could replace Krusty
- 11:27Speaker 1: at some point. I feel like the Krusty characters kind
- 11:30Speaker 1: of watered down now they've squeezed that lemon, they've gotten
- 11:34Speaker 1: everybody of juice added that character. They possibly could, I think,
- 11:37Speaker 1: But he is there. He is there go to for
- 11:40Speaker 1: He's a representation of the entertainment industry on The Simpsons,
- 11:44Speaker 1: So everything goes through Krusty in that regard. Well, yeah,
- 11:46Speaker 1: I mean he's the sort of the go to if
- 11:48Speaker 1: you're going to be poking performers or whatever. Yeah, yeah, thing, yeah,
- 11:51Speaker 1: but is pretty pivotal. I think Moa is sort of
- 11:54Speaker 1: like the brother that Homer never he had her power obviously,
- 11:57Speaker 1: but he's the guy that Homer can go to when
- 11:59Speaker 1: he's got a problem. Well, yes, more so.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I mean he's got his supposed best friends in Lenny
- 12:06Speaker 2: and Carl and and I guess even Barney.
- 12:08Speaker 1: But I don't know.
- 12:09Speaker 2: When I tend to think of Homer's friends, I think
- 12:11Speaker 2: he's my first. He's my go to in that regard.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Yep.
- 12:14Speaker 2: And also, yeah, which character we've grown to appreciate the
- 12:17Speaker 2: older we get, I think again, I think you'll have
- 12:22Speaker 2: a lot of people say, oh, I'm just like, oh, oh,
- 12:24Speaker 2: he's just like me for real. But yeah, I think
- 12:26Speaker 2: I didn't like, really relate to that guy.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I mean, and to a lesser extent, Lisa as well.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I think when I was younger, I really didn't like
- 12:34Speaker 1: the Lisa stories and Lisa episodes, but that I didn't
- 12:37Speaker 1: like them. They were just my least favorite of the Simpsons,
- 12:39Speaker 1: which is still good. But I was watching this and going, oh,
- 12:42Speaker 1: shut up. I'd always think myself saying, shut up, Lisa,
- 12:44Speaker 1: you're annoying. What are you always ranting about this when
- 12:47Speaker 1: you just I watch it now and I go I
- 12:49Speaker 1: can see where she's coming from. It's still annoying that
- 12:51Speaker 1: this these themes and these this voice is coming through
- 12:54Speaker 1: an eight year old, but the writers just used her
- 12:56Speaker 1: as their own voice in regards he's that. This is
- 12:59Speaker 1: where Mill says, thanks again for the hours of entertainment
- 13:02Speaker 1: Utuly are one of my favorite shows that listened to.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Thanks MILLI ps guy, please remember to look at the camera,
- 13:06Speaker 1: especially when it's not on. It's pretty funny man, very clever. Mellie. Alrighty,
- 13:15Speaker 1: let's get into some before we get into some Patreon questions.
- 13:18Speaker 1: That's ask what have been some of your favorite episodes
- 13:20Speaker 1: we've done of late in the last few weeks.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I've been very happy with the interviews that we've been doing. Yeah,
- 13:27Speaker 2: it's not exactly I've been proud of them. Oh yeah,
- 13:29Speaker 2: it's not exactly uncharted territory for us. But I think
- 13:33Speaker 2: the chats that we've had where with Mike Scully, with
- 13:37Speaker 2: Bill Oakley, with Josh Weinstein, I think they've been great.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I mean it's been a pleasure speaking with them just
- 13:43Speaker 2: on a on a personal level. They're good people to
- 13:47Speaker 2: sort of talk to. I mean, they seem like good
- 13:49Speaker 2: guys open yeah. Yeah, But also I think it sounds
- 13:53Speaker 2: like we're being interrogators only. But I think the information
- 13:56Speaker 2: that we got out of them has been pretty good stuff.
- 13:58Speaker 2: It's certainly been a pleasure for me to hear. Yeah,
- 14:00Speaker 2: some of the stories that they've had, and I think
- 14:03Speaker 2: the way that they all came together was was, yeah,
- 14:06Speaker 2: really rewarding. And you're right in saying that we should
- 14:08Speaker 2: be proud of them. You shouldn't. You certainly should be
- 14:10Speaker 2: proud of them.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I mean, you're white, just me.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Well, I mean you're asking them, you're asking a fair
- 14:17Speaker 2: few questions. I'm sort of like chiming occasionally with a.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Bit of a no. I think what our balance works
- 14:22Speaker 1: well in the sense that you're you're sort of of
- 14:25Speaker 1: a similar generation to them, and there are a lot
- 14:28Speaker 1: of things that they might bring up that was it
- 14:30Speaker 1: wasn't in the mox skular thing. You brought up a
- 14:32Speaker 1: name Polyplatt, who, off top of my head, I wasn't
- 14:34Speaker 1: quite aware of it was, and you knew exactly who it was.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And I think just you knowing that straight away just
- 14:40Speaker 1: doesn't make the interviewee or make them feel comfortables just
- 14:42Speaker 1: like they know their shit. They're they're on our wavelength.
- 14:45Speaker 1: But I come from the I give this super fan bespect.
- 14:48Speaker 1: So I'm always going trying to ask questions about so
- 14:50Speaker 1: how do you want with that story for that episode
- 14:52Speaker 1: where you're very good at coming up with the questions
- 14:54Speaker 1: and having engaging discussion of just pop culture in general.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Oh, I mean, it's sort of like the foundations of
- 15:00Speaker 2: what maybe got them interested in comedy or how they
- 15:03Speaker 2: built their sort of comedy chops.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Like the Lampoon, your discussion with Bill and things like that.
- 15:07Speaker 2: But no, I mean, if you're asking about stuff that
- 15:09Speaker 2: we've done recently that I'm really happy with there, I'd
- 15:12Speaker 2: say that's certainly among the our crowning achievements as of late.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I think we're finding a good balance too, of just
- 15:19Speaker 1: so you don't want to just season twenty one episodes
- 15:21Speaker 1: because it'd be still doing them, sure, but breaking them up,
- 15:25Speaker 1: you know, doing a season twenty one and going back
- 15:26Speaker 1: and visiting a classic with a guest. And I think
- 15:29Speaker 1: just we're finding a good balance at the moment, which
- 15:31Speaker 1: will let us know though what do you think mailbag
- 15:32Speaker 1: or forfigure discount dot com dot are you what? First
- 15:35Speaker 1: of all question is what guests do you want us
- 15:37Speaker 1: to get onto the show. So I'm working on some
- 15:38Speaker 1: other big name guests, some big, big ones. So Matt,
- 15:40Speaker 1: someone's coming on the show. We're going to be recording
- 15:42Speaker 1: that tomorrow as we record this hopefully, Oh yes, but
- 15:46Speaker 1: we're gonna be talking about the eight hundred episodes coming up,
- 15:49Speaker 1: so just just the new Simpsons in general. I think
- 15:51Speaker 1: that they've made a lot of changes to the Simpsons
- 15:53Speaker 1: this season since Matt's taken over as the solo showrunner.
- 15:56Speaker 1: So I'll be interested to get into that discussion with
- 15:58Speaker 1: him as well. But these questions have come from the patrons.
- 16:01Speaker 1: The first one he's from Mike Salter favorite silly purchase.
- 16:05Speaker 1: You've ever made something that has zero practical practical use,
- 16:08Speaker 1: but you just wanted it zero practical use. When I
- 16:12Speaker 1: bought you the Towy Tower, I suppose it got practical use.
- 16:14Speaker 1: It's a town, it's a tower. Something has zero. Well,
- 16:19Speaker 1: does susplay something on the shelf minute's got no practical use?
- 16:22Speaker 1: My iron Giant, Like I didn't need that Iron Giant. No,
- 16:25Speaker 1: but it makes me happy when I look at it.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I get the feeling you don't need half the crazy
- 16:28Speaker 2: crap that's in here.
- 16:29Speaker 1: No. I mean likewise, I'm doing.
- 16:33Speaker 2: A bit of work out of our Palell's pop culture
- 16:35Speaker 2: as and as a result of that, you.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Know, you get the I saw the head headhn show
- 16:39Speaker 1: at the supermarket the other day. I had a good old
- 16:40Speaker 1: ten minute chat with him. Oh the big boy, the
- 16:43Speaker 1: big big Man.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Okay. But as a result, you know, you get the
- 16:48Speaker 2: sort of the stuff discount. I find is looking at
- 16:50Speaker 2: stuff on the sites, going do I really need this on?
- 16:54Speaker 2: But I'm paying pennies on the dollar for this? And
- 16:58Speaker 2: there was a funko pop of some mix lot a
- 17:00Speaker 2: baby got back face. I nearly bought that for you once. Yeah,
- 17:04Speaker 2: well you sure instead of nobody said to me that
- 17:08Speaker 2: you didn't want any more collectibles. You're trying to click,
- 17:10Speaker 2: I know, but then I didn't. But I actually I
- 17:13Speaker 2: bought myself. I bought myself one for Christmas. I haven't
- 17:15Speaker 2: got a mixed a lot. He's down like ten bucks.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, that was that.
- 17:19Speaker 2: When I was still working there, I actually bought myself
- 17:22Speaker 2: a funk pop for Chris one Rod Serling of the
- 17:25Speaker 2: of the Twilight Zone. It's in black and white. It's
- 17:27Speaker 2: like up there is my little totem. Necessarily call that
- 17:32Speaker 2: a silly purchase. Something I bought years ago, and I
- 17:35Speaker 2: don't know if I still have it, but I bought
- 17:37Speaker 2: like a reasonable size like globe, like a world globe.
- 17:46Speaker 2: I would feel a little more smarter and sophisticated if
- 17:48Speaker 2: I had this in the world, even though the world
- 17:50Speaker 2: has already been charted and mapped by various explorers. But
- 17:53Speaker 2: it's like, I don't really need this.
- 17:54Speaker 1: It's going to be a specific room, it's could be
- 17:55Speaker 1: a lot of books in there.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like this would add to my life. I
- 18:00Speaker 2: don't think I've looked at that globe in a very
- 18:01Speaker 2: long time.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I buy records all the time, and it's like I've
- 18:05Speaker 1: listened to probably ten percent of the records that I've got,
- 18:07Speaker 1: But I just like knowing that I've got.
- 18:08Speaker 2: That Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, we're very similar.
- 18:10Speaker 2: We like to have our library something. Yeah, I've got
- 18:13Speaker 2: a ship ton of books at my place, like what
- 18:15Speaker 2: and likewise, even blues, Blu, rays and DVDs, some of
- 18:18Speaker 2: the cellular plastic and plaid top dollar for them. But yeah,
- 18:21Speaker 2: there's gonna be a time when it was like finally
- 18:23Speaker 2: be able to take a break, sit down there, read book.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Yes, exactly. By the way, speaking of records. I feel
- 18:28Speaker 1: like I got scammed again. I'm like, oh, no, did
- 18:30Speaker 1: I fall for it? The signs were all there. Now
- 18:33Speaker 1: you see ads on Facebook, like, you know, selling products, right,
- 18:37Speaker 1: and it was a video of this shark jaws vinyl
- 18:41Speaker 1: but it's water filled vinyl, right, Like it's got water
- 18:44Speaker 1: in the vinyl. Okay, And look the legit thing is
- 18:46Speaker 1: like I had all these reactions in people commenting and
- 18:48Speaker 1: whatnot and say, O, yeah, I've got one of these.
- 18:49Speaker 1: It's great obviously fake comments. It turns out I bought
- 18:53Speaker 1: it went through use PayPal, paying for like you know,
- 18:56Speaker 1: it's using paper that kind of thing, not entering my
- 18:57Speaker 1: credit card details. Bought it through shop and saying yeah,
- 19:00Speaker 1: but it's on its way. And then I put the
- 19:02Speaker 1: tracking number in and then it says tracking number not
- 19:05Speaker 1: not not found. And I was like, oh, it's weird.
- 19:09Speaker 1: And then I wait, another day's track number not found.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I was like oh, And I look at the website
- 19:14Speaker 1: and the website is just one of those it's like
- 19:16Speaker 1: oh shop dot drop shop dot iffy, it's not actually
- 19:21Speaker 1: a real thing. And I was like, and the website's
- 19:22Speaker 1: like all different, Oh they got you. And I was like, oh, no,
- 19:27Speaker 1: so it's paying for So I've paid fourteen dollars fifty
- 19:31Speaker 1: so I've contacted paper. I'm like, can we like end
- 19:34Speaker 1: this so I don't have to pay anymore because it
- 19:37Speaker 1: seems because they're not getting back to me. They're like,
- 19:38Speaker 1: if you like a reefund, you must have returned it
- 19:40Speaker 1: within thirty days of receiving And I've written back and
- 19:42Speaker 1: there's not running back. And I'm like, oh no, I
- 19:45Speaker 1: feel like I've been scammed.
- 19:46Speaker 2: But don't trust someone on the internet.
- 19:47Speaker 1: But it was just you know those through Facebook was
- 19:49Speaker 1: legit had and there was comments and there's videos and
- 19:51Speaker 1: it looked like a real website and I just did
- 19:52Speaker 1: it on my phone. I was like, oh, yeah, cool,
- 19:53Speaker 1: I'll buy this. And then I bought it.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I was like, ah, scammers again, smart all the time,
- 19:58Speaker 2: and they were pretty smart to begin with.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean like, I just I didn't even think twice.
- 20:02Speaker 1: So unfortunately it might still arrive. I might just be
- 20:06Speaker 1: panicking over nothing, but it looks pretty scammy to me.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I will let you know, guys, no on the next
- 20:11Speaker 1: mailbag though, whether I get that Jaws Waterfield, Ronald, We're

- 20:36Speaker 1: at patreon dot com slash four finger Discout. Next question,
- 20:41Speaker 1: Ben lyons, what's the worst TV show, slash movie or
- 20:45Speaker 1: TV show episode you've ever seen? Can I just say?
- 20:47Speaker 1: Nicol and I we did some browsing last week. We
- 20:50Speaker 1: watched The Negotiator and I was like, you may also
- 20:52Speaker 1: like this, right, so we put all these movies in
- 20:54Speaker 1: our watch list. We watched a movie called Vehicle nineteen. Oh,
- 20:59Speaker 1: I am absolute dog shit. This stars the Lake Paul Walker.
- 21:03Speaker 1: It does, It's horrific. We got about halfway through. We
- 21:07Speaker 1: look at each other room and we've never done this.
- 21:08Speaker 1: We've said, don't just skipped to the end and see
- 21:10Speaker 1: what happens. Yeah, because like, how much long has I
- 21:12Speaker 1: got to go? I had another fifty two minutes and
- 21:14Speaker 1: I was like, I'm not committing another fifty minutes to this.
- 21:16Speaker 1: It was so bad. Have you ever seen it? No,
- 21:19Speaker 1: but oh, it's so bad. His daughter's sick or something. Oh. No,
- 21:25Speaker 1: So he's he's an ex con who's out in parole.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Shouldn't have traveled to South Africa. His wife for some reason,
- 21:31Speaker 1: she's working. His ex wife is working at the embassy.
- 21:34Speaker 1: And then he rents a car and then there's a
- 21:36Speaker 1: woman who's in the boot of the car. Oh, it's
- 21:39Speaker 1: the wrong it's a minivent. And then he's in South
- 21:40Speaker 1: Africa and the corruption in the in the cop scene
- 21:44Speaker 1: and they're trying to get him, and it's just it's
- 21:47Speaker 1: fucking terrible. The acting's bad. There's one point right where
- 21:51Speaker 1: spoiler alert, the girl woman gets shot right and she's like,
- 21:54Speaker 1: I'm bleeding out. I'm bleeding out right, and she's like,
- 21:57Speaker 1: just hop, help, put your head of my chest. I forget.
- 22:00Speaker 1: That's to get a message out, hold to fan out.
- 22:01Speaker 1: She's recording this passage. I am someone, so I'm about
- 22:03Speaker 1: to die. The cops. This the chief of police, he's
- 22:05Speaker 1: doing this. He's doing that, recording her message. But she's
- 22:08Speaker 1: not leaking any blood. It's just like a bullet wind
- 22:10Speaker 1: in her chest and Paul is on his hand on it.
- 22:11Speaker 1: He takes his hand off a couple of times. There's
- 22:13Speaker 1: nothing coming out, and I'm like, what the fuck is
- 22:16Speaker 1: this movie disappointing? It's it's really bad. Never ever watched
- 22:19Speaker 1: Vehicle of nineteen. That is one of the worst movies
- 22:21Speaker 1: I've seen for a long time.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Look, this is by on by no means a travesty
- 22:27Speaker 2: that I watched a little while ago, And maybe it
- 22:30Speaker 2: was last year or the year before, but it's certainly
- 22:32Speaker 2: one that sort of sticks out because I went in
- 22:34Speaker 2: with reasonably high expectations.
- 22:36Speaker 1: You hate that when you're really excited for a movie
- 22:38Speaker 1: and it disappoints you. Yeah, it's.
- 22:42Speaker 2: And the Lovely Luis likes a war movie. Really yeah, yeah,
- 22:48Speaker 2: And so I rented for Oh, I obtained for us
- 22:52Speaker 2: a movie called The Ministry.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Of Unduly that I obtained for us.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I'm glad I did obtain it, if you know what
- 22:58Speaker 2: I mean. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare from director Guy
- 23:02Speaker 2: Ritchie of Lockstock and Two Smoking Barrels fame and that's
- 23:05Speaker 2: too long that name, The Ministry of What Ungentlemanly Warfare,
- 23:08Speaker 2: which was actually like apparently the real title was given
- 23:11Speaker 2: to this sort of off the books unit that was
- 23:12Speaker 2: developed in World War Two. It's like, you know, we
- 23:15Speaker 2: need people to sort of do dirty work.
- 23:17Speaker 1: YEP had a good.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Cast, and I had Henry Cavill had Alan Richson aka
- 23:24Speaker 2: TV's Reacher. Thought oh, this could be not bad, you know,
- 23:28Speaker 2: sort of rebel soldiers getting out of all matter of
- 23:30Speaker 2: hygienks during World War Two, and we were just both
- 23:33Speaker 2: so fucking bore.
- 23:35Speaker 1: It was.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it just wasn't good. And yeah, I mean sometimes
- 23:40Speaker 2: with like a bad movie, it's like oh I can
- 23:42Speaker 2: sort of poke fun at this or whatever. A dull
- 23:44Speaker 2: movie is just like, oh, I'm just this is a.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Grind, nothing's happening. Yeah.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Yeah, So look, I won't say it's the worst movie
- 23:50Speaker 2: I've ever seen, but it was certainly a great disappointment.
- 23:53Speaker 2: This has Ben Lyons, who asked this.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I was very disappointed with season five for Stranger Things.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I've made that very clear in the last you have.
- 23:58Speaker 1: We may have to do Godfellas whatever.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yeah, we may have to do a bit of a
- 24:01Speaker 2: podcast about season five, even where it all went wrong.
- 24:05Speaker 1: And then you watch the documentary and you're like, oh,
- 24:06Speaker 1: this is where it went wrong.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Well, let's see that's on you. I mean you're you're no,
- 24:12Speaker 2: that's not on you, but I mean you're overdosing on
- 24:15Speaker 2: stranger things stuff. But see if you want to understand
- 24:17Speaker 2: why it went wrong and you hope that it.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Would give you some Well for me, though I've said
- 24:21Speaker 1: this to you before, after season two even I was like,
- 24:25Speaker 1: I'm watching it because I just want to see what happens,
- 24:27Speaker 1: but to the end. So it's like I watched it,
- 24:29Speaker 1: but I wasn't. I don't think I've enjoyed it for
- 24:31Speaker 1: two or three seasons. This last thing was just like
- 24:33Speaker 1: the worst. But you were like, you enjoyed it. You're like, kind,
- 24:35Speaker 1: I enjoy show your things. I enjoyed the violence and
- 24:37Speaker 1: the horror aspect. But I was like, it's just it's
- 24:40Speaker 1: got to the point where it's so ridiculous now, like
- 24:44Speaker 1: these fucking supposedly sixteen year olds that is going into
- 24:46Speaker 1: another dimension, Like it's just like going to the supermarket. Yeah, no,
- 24:49Speaker 1: that that shit's ridiculous.
- 24:50Speaker 2: And I mean, I don't really give a fuck about
- 24:54Speaker 2: the characters. I don't care about eleven, I don't care
- 24:58Speaker 2: about Michael whatever. I was really when I was enjoying,
- 25:04Speaker 2: like season three, season three, and maybe to some exten
- 25:07Speaker 2: season four. It's kind of like, that's a pretty nifty
- 25:09Speaker 2: action said piece. Well, that's a nice homage to say,
- 25:12Speaker 2: Nightmare on Elm Street.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Or Day of the Dead or something. That's all that is, though.
- 25:14Speaker 1: It's just it's just homage, just the ship.
- 25:17Speaker 2: But I don't mind that part so much. But if
- 25:19Speaker 2: you're like, oh, but also you know it's you, it's
- 25:21Speaker 2: your favorite you know, teen characters going through this shit,
- 25:24Speaker 2: it's no, no, I'm not buying that. I don't care
- 25:26Speaker 2: about that, but I do like, oh, wow, they broke
- 25:29Speaker 2: that and broke that girl's bones and some interesting ways
- 25:32Speaker 2: because I'm a seatist.
- 25:35Speaker 1: But that's that's Ben. That's the answer your question. The
- 25:38Speaker 1: worst TV shows or movies we've seen recently? Sure, and
- 25:41Speaker 1: Gray Scott's got a few questions here. Best school excursion
- 25:43Speaker 1: of growing up, Best school excursion that wasn't a school camp.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I think that's put school camps to the side.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Oh, okay, school excursions.
- 25:56Speaker 1: We went to the football once for a school excursion
- 25:59Speaker 1: that would have been it was like an after our schools.
- 26:01Speaker 1: It was like a Friday night game. Wow. And we
- 26:03Speaker 1: all went to Melbourne and we spent the day in Melbourne.
- 26:06Speaker 1: That was pretty awesome. Yeah, but it was too it
- 26:09Speaker 1: wasn't a Geelong game, it was something else. So it
- 26:11Speaker 1: was like I remember being there thinking, I don't really
- 26:13Speaker 1: care who wins. I'm just I'm just enjoying the atmosphere.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Of course. Yeah, I think I've ever been to a
- 26:18Speaker 1: game since that wasn't a Geelong game. Maybe more often
- 26:20Speaker 1: people say that, you know, it's not all of those
- 26:22Speaker 1: go to games, and I'm like, that's a long time. Yeah, see,
- 26:25Speaker 1: I'm as limited now, that's true. I've never really been
- 26:30Speaker 1: able to sort of get into that mindset of people
- 26:31Speaker 1: who watch sport, where you know, they're not invested in
- 26:36Speaker 1: the outcome of I hope my team win. I would
- 26:39Speaker 1: not watch a football game with the cat if the
- 26:40Speaker 1: Cats weren't playing. I'm not that interested in the game,
- 26:43Speaker 1: So yeah I would. Yeah.
- 26:45Speaker 2: So anyway, let's say best school excursion growing up.
- 26:50Speaker 1: There's a big difference. When I went to the planet
- 26:53Speaker 1: arium planetarium bug round for school. I think maybe in
- 27:00Speaker 1: like Science Works Planetario could have been Yeah, shreated Science
- 27:03Speaker 1: Works as a kid as well. Yeah, and I've never
- 27:05Speaker 1: been to a planetarium. I thought it was pretty rare.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I enjoyed that very much.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Then look nothing nothing especially special happened on it, but
- 27:15Speaker 2: it was like, terariums are pretty cool. I'm enjoying this.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Once we went to the Golden Triangle, just the snooker
- 27:21Speaker 1: hall used to be in Geelong. Oh, Golden Triangle, And
- 27:24Speaker 1: this is in high school. I think it was like
- 27:25Speaker 1: year eight U night. We just went down to the
- 27:27Speaker 1: Golden Triangle just in the Do you want to go
- 27:29Speaker 1: to the Golden Triangle. We're like, sure, we'll book that
- 27:31Speaker 1: for the next week's sport peer class. We went. We
- 27:33Speaker 1: all walked down there.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Wow, because that was an that was kind of shady.
- 27:37Speaker 1: That joint. Oh it's like in the afternoon maybe on
- 27:39Speaker 1: like a Friday, little Mallup Street. Yeah, not little Malup Street,
- 27:42Speaker 1: No Malip Street, where Rivers was Golden Triangle.
- 27:48Speaker 2: I'm thinking of something else.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Okay, No, this is what was really big. Went right
- 27:52Speaker 1: down the back and they had like a jukebox machine
- 27:55Speaker 1: you put money and you could pick a song and
- 27:56Speaker 1: plays the video clip and stuff. But it was like,
- 27:58Speaker 1: you know where Rivers was in Gely on malt Street,
- 28:01Speaker 1: so between office works and Ballerine Street. Oh oh yeah,
- 28:05Speaker 1: I do know. The what you're talking about.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I think before that, there was the Golden Trunk
- 28:09Speaker 2: that was in Little Mallops. Okay, that was that was
- 28:11Speaker 2: was upstairs, and yeah, I think it was also known
- 28:13Speaker 2: as the Golden Elbow because okay, we'll go to get.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Heroin really, but it was.
- 28:19Speaker 2: It was a pool hall and it also had in
- 28:22Speaker 2: the eighties, it had video games. And here's the thing
- 28:25Speaker 2: in that video Okays, not every place would have the
- 28:27Speaker 2: same games, and there was like maybe one place in
- 28:30Speaker 2: town that would have like the off like an off
- 28:31Speaker 2: brand game that was still pretty cool. And I think, yeah,
- 28:35Speaker 2: the Golden Trunk.
- 28:35Speaker 1: It was an off brand game.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Well, it's like I certainly remember this when JP and
- 28:39Speaker 2: I were young, when we were like eleven or so,
- 28:42Speaker 2: you had the Milk Bar down down the down the
- 28:45Speaker 2: road from his plate Love milk Bars, and it had
- 28:49Speaker 2: a game that was to all intends purpose. It was
- 28:52Speaker 2: called it was Space Invaders, but it was called Space Stranger. Okay,
- 28:55Speaker 2: so it's a variant, a variant, yeah, the teamy version
- 28:59Speaker 2: pretty much. Yeah, or yeah, like a version of Galaxian
- 29:03Speaker 2: or something along.
- 29:03Speaker 1: The street wrestler.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but for some reason it was almost better than
- 29:08Speaker 2: the than the original or just you know, a pleasant,
- 29:10Speaker 2: pleasant alternative And yeah, the Golden gold Trungle. Want to
- 29:14Speaker 2: have like one or two games like oh like it
- 29:16Speaker 2: was the only place in town i'd had Berserk. Well
- 29:19Speaker 2: like this game, and I'm me the nerdiest, whimpiest little
- 29:23Speaker 2: kid was willing to go to this rough joint. Black
- 29:28Speaker 2: can I can I have five twenties for this for
- 29:30Speaker 2: my for this dollar and just pump me into Berserk.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's going.
- 29:34Speaker 2: He's gonna bother me at the Golden Trungle, this little
- 29:37Speaker 2: kid in his school uniform playing Berserk.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I guarantee the guys they probably look after you. Probably, yeah,
- 29:43Speaker 1: probably the case. Yeah, you just reminded me when you
- 29:46Speaker 1: talking about like random arcade machines which took the kids
- 29:51Speaker 1: to Grazeland on Friday. You ever been to Graceland? Oh
- 29:53Speaker 1: my fucking god, mate, you are being heaven there. Do
- 29:56Speaker 1: you know what Graysland is? Really? Okay, So I'd heard
- 29:59Speaker 1: about it for like a couple of years now and
- 30:01Speaker 1: never bothered to go there. It is right next door
- 30:04Speaker 1: to Science Works right in Spotswood. Yes, and it is
- 30:08Speaker 1: just storage containers, so like the ones you see on
- 30:11Speaker 1: the shipping containers but it's like there's like fifty at
- 30:15Speaker 1: least fifty to sixty of them, all various food places.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Oh and you pay four dollors entry, and it's got briskets,
- 30:22Speaker 1: it's got Mexican, it's got Italian. That's got as a
- 30:25Speaker 1: new grazing food. But but it's just called grazing, actually grazed.
- 30:28Speaker 1: But you can go burg it from there. Some chips.
- 30:31Speaker 1: But they had the jaws pinny there. But they had
- 30:33Speaker 1: they had like all these arcade machines. There's a place
- 30:35Speaker 1: for the kids to go play in the arcades, all
- 30:37Speaker 1: these various foods, big giants stream with the Australian Open on.
- 30:40Speaker 1: I thought of you. I'm like, guy would be in
- 30:43Speaker 1: heaven burrito stalls. There's smoke brisket stalls. There'ses that sound nice. Look,
- 30:49Speaker 1: I'm going to show you Grazeland. Let's get it up.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Let's get it ship there, Jennie. So they're all looking
- 30:56Speaker 1: so that that's just one place. There's like four of these.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Wow there it is there so grays food food, food,
- 31:03Speaker 1: and there's sweet streets as well, where it's just a street.
- 31:06Speaker 1: And so Nicola had a giant cookie that was melts
- 31:10Speaker 1: like gooey in the middle with ice cream and sprinkles
- 31:12Speaker 1: on top and with cream and I have some deep
- 31:15Speaker 1: fried cheesecake. Incredible. Yeah, that's that's it. There, that's that's
- 31:20Speaker 1: It's just like that all the way up. There's like
- 31:22Speaker 1: over fifty different shops. Pretty go you you and louse
- 31:25Speaker 1: who go? Should take it there for a date night.
- 31:28Speaker 1: It grazedly but the kids, yees. So I played the
- 31:30Speaker 1: Jaws pinny and this is what I was touching on.
- 31:32Speaker 1: So there was a guy that was playing the Jaw
- 31:35Speaker 1: sing for like half an hour. I just want to
- 31:36Speaker 1: play one fucking game. I can you get off the machine?
- 31:38Speaker 1: Eventually get off. I'll play it my first game, get
- 31:41Speaker 1: like two different multi balls going. And Alliott was just
- 31:43Speaker 1: looking at me like, oh it was a god. It
- 31:45Speaker 1: was like, okay, good, my dad is. But there was
- 31:47Speaker 1: a saying, you know when you get the free game,
- 31:48Speaker 1: what happens when you get a free game and a penny?
- 31:50Speaker 1: You remember what happens when you get a free game
- 31:51Speaker 1: and a penny goes? Scared the ship out of Elliott.
- 31:57Speaker 1: He thought, did something that happened? But yeah, so the
- 31:58Speaker 1: Jaws penny was there, But yeah, Grazesland, I cannot recommend it.
- 32:01Speaker 1: We should get them as spotsors of the show. Absolute Grazland,
- 32:04Speaker 1: you've given them up, Preey Cloud Grazland come on board. Yes, indeed.
- 32:08Speaker 1: So any TV on movies that you're looking forward to
- 32:11Speaker 1: in twenty twenty six, Grace ass Well.
- 32:13Speaker 2: You could check out our most recent episode of the
- 32:15Speaker 2: Movie Guide with Monklin Davis, where Lennon and I both
- 32:18Speaker 2: talk about the three films that we are looking forward
- 32:20Speaker 2: to in twenty twenty six each.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Three films, yeah, yeah, so six in total, and
- 32:24Speaker 1: a couple of others that we mentioned. Have you said
- 32:25Speaker 1: bothering heights? I did, I'm not a clip from this
- 32:27Speaker 1: and I was like, I'm not sure about this guy.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I won't say.
- 32:32Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, I can't wait to see that. I'm like,
- 32:34Speaker 2: I can't wait to see I'm interested to see what
- 32:37Speaker 2: they do with this because it just looks so sort
- 32:39Speaker 2: of different. But you know, I think we talked about
- 32:41Speaker 2: movies like the Adventures of Cliff Booth Disclosure Day than You.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Steven Spielberg Movie Story five was in there. Yeah, a
- 32:48Speaker 2: few titles. So there's plenty of stuff coming up that
- 32:52Speaker 2: we're all looking forward to. I'm looking forward to. I
- 32:54Speaker 2: know we've got a bit of superhero fatigue at the moment.
- 32:57Speaker 2: There's a series coming up from our friends at HBO
- 33:00Speaker 2: called Lantern's which is like Green Lantern Okay, but I
- 33:04Speaker 2: think it's going to be hopefully a departure from the
- 33:06Speaker 2: Ryan Reylds movie of a decade ago that was not good,
- 33:09Speaker 2: was it?
- 33:09Speaker 1: No? No?
- 33:10Speaker 2: But this is supposedly like a space cop thing, but
- 33:13Speaker 2: kind of in the vein of True Detective. It's treating
- 33:16Speaker 2: a bit seriously, and it's got Kyle Chandler, an actor
- 33:19Speaker 2: I really like, and a really good up and coming
- 33:23Speaker 2: actor named Aaron Pierre. He was in a terrific Netflix movie.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Called Rebel Ridge.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Okay, gonna be a star this guy.
- 33:28Speaker 1: So I know the kids are excited for the Mario movie,
- 33:30Speaker 1: the new one, Oh Super Mario Galaxy. Yes, I'm surprised
- 33:33Speaker 1: there are at more video game movies. I know they've got
- 33:35Speaker 1: the Zelda one coming out soon. Sonic's done very well. Yes,
- 33:38Speaker 1: I think see Sega whatever it is was, Nintendo owns
- 33:42Speaker 1: it now anyway, don't they see I think? So it's like,
- 33:43Speaker 1: I think Sonic did well of getting in before Mario
- 33:46Speaker 1: because they were able to build that foundation that audience,
- 33:48Speaker 1: because if Mario came out first, I feel like Sonic's
- 33:51Speaker 1: always lived in the show, and it shouldn't for me
- 33:52Speaker 1: because I've always prefers Ton to go to Maria. But
- 33:54Speaker 1: Sonic's always lived in that shadow off Mario, and I'm
- 33:57Speaker 1: just glad that Sonic has that.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Are this sort of neck and neck, certainly when it
- 34:00Speaker 2: comes to cinema. Yeah, I mean it's interesting You've got Yeah,
- 34:04Speaker 2: you of course you can have another Minecraft movie because.
- 34:06Speaker 1: That did so well.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Yeah, true, next year, isn't it. Yeah, and you're gonna
- 34:10Speaker 2: have You've got grown up versions of that as well.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I mean, because you know, the last of us TV
- 34:15Speaker 2: series has done very well?
- 34:16Speaker 1: Has it? Though? Is the second season? I died in
- 34:17Speaker 1: the ass? I mean people got Pedro Pascale Burnout Maybe
- 34:21Speaker 1: I think they also got what's the name the chip
- 34:24Speaker 1: that plays there? But Fallout is apparently doing very well
- 34:27Speaker 1: on Amazon Prime as Yeah. Yeah, so it's TV.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but this is these are few things that we're
- 34:33Speaker 2: looking forward to. Grace also asked reading any books at
- 34:37Speaker 2: the moment. I just started last night reading the.
- 34:40Speaker 1: New Gallagher's book, So it's no Gallia Leam Galliger talking
- 34:43Speaker 1: about them when they split up to rejoining to mix money.
- 34:49Speaker 1: And you also gave me the Vagabone book for Christmas
- 34:51Speaker 1: as well. I did.
- 34:51Speaker 2: That's Tim Curry's autobiography. You gave me a tripic book
- 34:55Speaker 2: these Star Wars.
- 34:56Speaker 1: How was it? It's good? Yeah?
- 34:58Speaker 2: Yeah, man, so just full of great behind the scenes
- 35:01Speaker 2: and artworks and bits and bobs of information.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I was when I when toads our Man Toby, I
- 35:07Speaker 1: went to his house pick it up with you grow
- 35:08Speaker 1: different from work. I was like, this is a lot
- 35:10Speaker 1: thicker than I expected to be, Like, it looks great.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Oh yeah, so I'm very happy with that.
- 35:15Speaker 1: I love. I love a book that just feels and
- 35:17Speaker 1: looks like it's worth the money. Whenever I get books,
- 35:21Speaker 1: I just get hardcovered every time. I don't. I hate paperback.
- 35:23Speaker 1: I hate paperback. I prefer hardcover. Okay, where you're coming
- 35:26Speaker 1: buying paperback up and know just the cover gets bent
- 35:28Speaker 1: and it goes on the shelf and it's curled.
- 35:30Speaker 2: And I wrote about this on social media long ago.
- 35:33Speaker 2: It's like, now you always hurt the ones you love.
- 35:35Speaker 2: I mean, if you love books, and I mean I've
- 35:37Speaker 2: got some nice big coffee table books and.
- 35:39Speaker 1: It's loved, like I don't want to crack.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Your spine or you know, doggy your page or something
- 35:45Speaker 2: like that. But you know, I look at the books
- 35:47Speaker 2: on my shelf that look like it's like, well that's
- 35:48Speaker 2: the one. They're the ones that I really like.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Well, it's like going back to it. We got our
- 35:52Speaker 1: pals at Headstart Toys sent the new power and just
- 35:54Speaker 1: figures last year for the kids to do videos with,
- 35:56Speaker 1: and looking at it, I said, I'll go get my
- 35:58Speaker 1: megazoor toy from when I was a kid and was like,
- 36:00Speaker 1: why is it all scratched and stuff? And I was like,
- 36:02Speaker 1: because I fucking played with it.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Toys are supposed to look like just yeah, swearing to
- 36:10Speaker 2: me dad.
- 36:11Speaker 1: The things are supposed to be played with, yeah yeah.
- 36:14Speaker 2: But I yeah, do have like a big stack of
- 36:16Speaker 2: books that I'm trying to either make my way through
- 36:18Speaker 2: or like you're next on the list.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:21Speaker 2: One of them is It's called The Uncool. It's the
- 36:25Speaker 2: autobiography of Cameron Crowe, who the maker of Jerry Maguire
- 36:29Speaker 2: and Say Anything and the writer of Fast Time is
- 36:31Speaker 2: a Ridge One High and teenage rock journals still hang
- 36:33Speaker 2: out with that movie, which one last times.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Never seen it. That was like that was like nineteen
- 36:39Speaker 1: eighty two, so that was your American pie right sort of. Yeah, Yeah, good.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Movie, definitely worth checking out.
- 36:46Speaker 1: It's got pen in one of his first sort of
- 36:50Speaker 1: pen so it looks like crackaded pen.
- 36:54Speaker 2: He looks like bugs Bunny's handed and we explode.
- 36:57Speaker 1: It's the first I love that.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Yeah, smoking darts indoors the Golden Life, right man, you
- 37:06Speaker 2: can tell Sean p. Chris Clark asking us.
- 37:10Speaker 1: What kept you guys in Geelong? Did you ever consider
- 37:12Speaker 1: moving closer to Melbourne permanently? Never entered my mind once.
- 37:16Speaker 2: And I need to be close to all all my
- 37:17Speaker 2: illegitimate kids. Yeah no, no, I'm as I always say, well,
- 37:23Speaker 2: I ran into a guy I went to school with.
- 37:25Speaker 2: This weekend, lou Son Felix has started rowing crew and
- 37:30Speaker 2: he was on the doing his first regapper on the
- 37:32Speaker 2: Paren ran too. A guy that I was in boarding
- 37:36Speaker 2: school with back going shit almost forty years ago. Now,
- 37:40Speaker 2: brilliant guy, rural guy. He sort of looks like, looks
- 37:44Speaker 2: like the kind of guy who you would see work
- 37:45Speaker 2: in the land. I'm nosy, Yeah, I mean that, and
- 37:49Speaker 2: I mean this is the most complimentary sense Ago marsh
- 37:51Speaker 2: could this guy Marshally could just break me in into
- 37:54Speaker 2: kindling with this pinky but a fantastic fella. And is
- 38:00Speaker 2: oh you're stilling. I said, yeah, look you're sort of
- 38:03Speaker 2: you go what's for you go is familiar, and you
- 38:05Speaker 2: go what you can to afford. And also, I mean
- 38:08Speaker 2: everything there.
- 38:09Speaker 1: We are in Geelong.
- 38:10Speaker 2: We're an hour from Melbourne, which has got anything else
- 38:14Speaker 2: you might want. Gelong's got everything you need. And we're
- 38:16Speaker 2: also twenty minutes from the Surfcoas and the Bellary Peninsula. Yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 2: great parts of the world that are full of you know,
- 38:23Speaker 2: great places to eat, you know, good places to just
- 38:25Speaker 2: chill out on the beach.
- 38:26Speaker 1: And every town has their negatives.
- 38:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and Geelong got it's fash.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Gelong's in a state of rebuild at the moment. It
- 38:32Speaker 1: is so like people keep saying, look at the look
- 38:34Speaker 1: at the centers, look at the town. At the moment,
- 38:36Speaker 1: I'm like, it's being rebuilt. Like it's like, look at
- 38:38Speaker 1: all the grafiti. I'm like, yes, but that's a construction site.
- 38:40Speaker 1: They're knocking everything down and rebuilding it. It's going to
- 38:42Speaker 1: take ten years. But once it's all done, see where
- 38:46Speaker 1: it goes. Yeah, but the thing is hopeful. I never
- 38:50Speaker 1: I never really appreciated Geelong as much until Nicholas family
- 38:53Speaker 1: started coming visiting. They're like, got the beach right here,
- 38:56Speaker 1: and like all these food places, and I was like, yeah,
- 39:00Speaker 1: some good stuff. I guess that is pretty lucky. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 39:03Speaker 2: The more we hang around the place, of course, you're
- 39:05Speaker 2: going to see the negative aspects of it. Yeah, I
- 39:09Speaker 2: mean when when it's viewed through fresh eyes, like, holy
- 39:12Speaker 2: shir you guys are not far from the beach.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Rachel McLean, what show or movie are you surprised the
- 39:17Speaker 1: Simpsons haven't parodied? She's surprised with success popularity off the
- 39:21Speaker 1: Office that they never did a parody of it. That's
- 39:23Speaker 1: surprising as well.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit of a sort of a mockumentary feel.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Have they done that?
- 39:27Speaker 1: Ever done that on the Simpsons at all? I'm assuming
- 39:29Speaker 1: the problem something. I'm fine hard to be having an
- 39:31Speaker 1: office parody in some way. But I did see a
- 39:34Speaker 1: tweet yesterday that said, I think we as a society
- 39:37Speaker 1: ready to move on from the Office. I think so. Yeah.
- 39:41Speaker 1: I think when I started watching it and then obviously
- 39:43Speaker 1: just got distracted and started watching something else, we didn't
- 39:45Speaker 1: we enjoyed what we saw of it, but but we
- 39:49Speaker 1: haven't finished the show obviously.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I never really got into it. I mean I
- 39:53Speaker 2: like the UK original, and I'm not saying that to
- 39:55Speaker 2: be like, oh the old Katie from the Office talk,
- 39:58Speaker 2: oh you shout out, But when the American version started,
- 40:02Speaker 2: I'm like, this doesn't really look like my jam. The
- 40:05Speaker 2: afore mentioned Felix loose some. It's part of that generation
- 40:08Speaker 2: that really sort of digs it. And of course it's
- 40:10Speaker 2: when it's on Netflix. You can just have it on
- 40:11Speaker 2: and a loop and just have it going, going, going,
- 40:13Speaker 2: And I can see why people enjoyed in that sense.
- 40:16Speaker 2: It's got that sort of it's got a bit of
- 40:17Speaker 2: a warm, cozy feel to it, even when it's sort
- 40:19Speaker 2: of being snarky. But no, and I could, when watching
- 40:24Speaker 2: a couple of episodes back to back with him, like Okay,
- 40:26Speaker 2: that's got good joke, construction Correl is doing a good job,
- 40:28Speaker 2: and there's got a nut job. But it just wasn't
- 40:31Speaker 2: my thing. I'm not a fan of like comedies that
- 40:34Speaker 2: are too cozy. It's why I never got into Parks
- 40:36Speaker 2: and rec.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I've never really watched Parks and rec I've never
- 40:39Speaker 1: watched Brooklyn nine nine either, that's another show, a bit
- 40:41Speaker 1: of Brooklyn n nine always. I've just think I just
- 40:47Speaker 1: guess I wasn't really watching TV much at that point
- 40:49Speaker 1: because I didn't watch any of these shows.
- 40:52Speaker 2: I think you really have to sort of pick and choose.
- 40:54Speaker 2: I mean, I think it was easier back in the
- 40:57Speaker 2: day when you had a limited amount of stuff and
- 40:59Speaker 2: it's like, oh, I can catch up with all of this.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Now, when there's so much stuff, it's like, I'm really
- 41:03Speaker 2: going to choose my battles here.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Yep. This show is brought to you by the four

- 41:31Speaker 1: the mail bag is and buy what is your favorite
- 41:36Speaker 1: movie off twenty twenty five? What was your favorite movie
- 41:38Speaker 1: from last Yearcause last year wasn't a great year was
- 41:40Speaker 1: it for film? I don't know.
- 41:42Speaker 2: You've got some people saying, hey, this was actually a
- 41:44Speaker 2: pretty good year for movies.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I liked, I liked one battle after another, a whole
- 41:49Speaker 1: lot I liked, I loved.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Twenty eight years later, Sarde watching Sinners last night. By
- 41:53Speaker 2: the way, Oh, Sinners was fantastic. Shout out to sinnas
- 41:56Speaker 2: getting sixteen Academy Award nominations. That's the most in history.
- 42:00Speaker 1: You know what the cool thing is right now? What
- 42:02Speaker 1: is Sinners? Is it really deserve for those nominations? Well?
- 42:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean is it cool to be a wanker?
- 42:08Speaker 1: Let me ask you. I mean you, I can appreciate
- 42:12Speaker 1: that you liked the movie, but I never really I
- 42:14Speaker 1: didn't really enjoy. What was the one about the bomb
- 42:17Speaker 1: hitting Chicago has of dynamite? Yeah, I was like, eh, technically, okay,
- 42:20Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm gonna have no intention if I've watched
- 42:22Speaker 1: this again. Basically it was fine. I remember you and
- 42:24Speaker 1: Learn talking about like this could be like the best
- 42:26Speaker 1: movie of the year, and I was like, sure about
- 42:28Speaker 1: that for me?
- 42:28Speaker 2: Anyway, I've had to see Marty Supreme, which is twenty
- 42:32Speaker 2: twenty six here, but I think it's already out of
- 42:35Speaker 2: States is I think it opened at the end of
- 42:37Speaker 2: the year at least sort of had a brief run
- 42:39Speaker 2: for the Ping Pong one. Right it is with Timothy
- 42:41Speaker 2: Shallomy Shallowmy, Shallow Me.
- 42:45Speaker 1: I'm just looking at twenty twenty five films. I don't
- 42:47Speaker 1: know as I think.
- 42:48Speaker 2: As we pointed out with lend as well during our
- 42:50Speaker 2: most recent episode of the movie guid where we talked
- 42:52Speaker 2: about what's coming up in twenty twenty six, there's a
- 42:55Speaker 2: lot of good international stuff as well. I mean, I
- 42:58Speaker 2: won't say necessarily crowdble, but stuff that's got, you know,
- 43:01Speaker 2: like a bit of meat on the bone, like sentimental value,
- 43:03Speaker 2: secret agent or no other choice.
- 43:06Speaker 1: It was Roofman any good and no Roofman was already out. Yeah.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I have yet to see it, unfortunately. I mean
- 43:12Speaker 2: I hear good things about it, but it's like one
- 43:15Speaker 2: of those movies I was excited, but I was intrigued
- 43:18Speaker 2: by the concept.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:20Speaker 2: I think it's one of those movies where it's like, ah,
- 43:22Speaker 2: this is one that I'll catch somewhere down the line,
- 43:24Speaker 2: and when people do, it'll be like, why did no

- 43:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it feels like one of those movies that I
- 43:31Speaker 1: would would have found at the video shop. Yeah, it
- 43:36Speaker 1: was a bit. I was trying to explain to Elliot too,
- 43:37Speaker 1: because there was movies he was grabbing off the shop
- 43:39Speaker 1: and he's gone, this looks good, and I'm like, remember
- 43:41Speaker 1: when you just find movies? Yes, absolutely, you didn't have
- 43:44Speaker 1: to look for it. It was just they were there and
- 43:46Speaker 1: you looked at the carp and you're like, this looks
- 43:47Speaker 1: good and it might be good. It might not be,
- 43:50Speaker 1: but I'm going to take it up and give it
- 43:51Speaker 1: a go. Oh yeah, you roll the dice. Absolutely, and
- 43:53Speaker 1: then they a lot of the time they didn't work.
- 43:55Speaker 1: But you know what, you paid money for it, so

- 44:07Speaker 2: it sunk cost fallacy is what we call that. Yeah,
- 44:10Speaker 2: it's like, oh, I'll put the money into this, I
- 44:11Speaker 2: might as well watch it.
- 44:11Speaker 1: All the way through. Is Roffman streaming anywhere? It is
- 44:15Speaker 1: yet Riffman's streaming Australians have a look, no, we can
- 44:21Speaker 1: buy it. Yeah, oh it's listed on Jemmie high Fay.

- 44:27Speaker 1: physical media. Maybe I'll go purchase the physical media.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Then we should have done it the other day because the.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Even with that, but that those sounds like every second
- 44:36Speaker 1: week these days.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Yeah, even with that, I have to wait for the
- 44:38Speaker 2: double barrel sale where it's like, yeah, okay, it's thirty
- 44:41Speaker 2: percent off and you can get two.
- 44:42Speaker 1: For fifteen or whatever. Yeah. I saw that. I actually
