Transcript
- 0:00Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Spy Trader !
- 0:04I am your host , Sunny Shareman , and it is a wonderful 2:30 pm on Thursday , May 28th , 2026 , in the Pacific time zone .
- 0:15We are checking in on your portfolios as the market shows some real strength today .
- 0:20The big news is the continued resilience of the US stock market .
- 0:25The S&P 500 , which many of you follow through funds like VOO or SPY , rose zeropointfivefive percent today to reach 7,562 .
- 0:36That is just a hair below the alltime high of 7,567 reached earlier this month .
- 0:43Over the last year , we have seen an incredible 27.9 percent gain , and in May alone , the market has climbed nearly 6 percent .
- 0:53While the Nasdaq100 , or QQQ , remains the primary engine of this growth , we are seeing a shift from explosive volatility to what analysts call normalized hypergrowth .
- 1:05In the technology sector , Nvidia , ticker NVDA , is making history as the world’s most influential company with a 5 trillion dollar market cap .
- 1:15They reported huge fiscal earnings last week with revenue hitting 81.6 billion dollars .
- 1:22Even though they beat expectations , the stock traded down about 2 percent today to approximately 215 dollars .
- 1:30It seems Nvidia has entered a boring phase where being amazing is simply expected .
- 1:36Meanwhile , we are seeing a trend where companies like Meta and Alphabet are now solid growth and income picks .
- 1:44However , it is not all perfect .
- 1:47Walmart , or WMT , recently shared a cautious outlook , noting that middleincome families are feeling the weight of high prices and shifting toward buying only essentials .
- 1:58We also saw software giant Intuit , ticker INTU , struggle after missing revenue targets and announcing a 17 percent workforce reduction to focus on AI .
- 2:09On the macro side , we are looking at a long soft landing .
- 2:14The Federal Reserve is expected to cut interest rates by a total of zeropointsevenfive percent this year , as inflation has stabilized near the 2 percent target .
- 2:24This has made the bond market , specifically the iShares 20 plus Year Treasury Bond ETF known as TLT , very attractive for those looking to lock in yields .
- 2:34For today’s recommendations , first , I suggest maintaining your core US exposure through the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF , or VOO .
- 2:45The trend is bullish , and this remains the gold standard for your portfolio .
- 2:50Second , consider Nvidia or the Invesco QQQ Trust as stability plays .
- 2:55With Nvidia's 80 billion dollar buyback program , it is a highquality anchor for your growth bucket .
- 3:01Third , because of the caution we are seeing at Walmart , it is wise to hedge with the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund , or XLV , and some gold through GLD .
- 3:11These provide a nice cushion if consumer spending slows down .
- 3:16Finally , with US valuations at a high 32 times earnings , look into the Vanguard Total International Stock ETF , or VXUS , to capture value in overseas markets .
- 3:28Also , consider adding the iShares Core U.S.
- 3:30Aggregate Bond ETF , or AGG , to protect the gains you have made during this recordbreaking run .
- 3:37That is all for this update .
- 3:39Keep your eyes on the tickers and your feet on the ground .
- 3:42This is Sunny Shareman for Spy Trader , wishing you a great afternoon of trading !
