- 0:00Yeah, I'm really proud of my entire junior Motorsports team.
- 0:02We had such a fast car. And I'm honestly more frustrated
- 0:06with myself than I am happy. You know, I just, I made way too
- 0:09many mistakes and made it way harder on myself.
- 0:12And, you know, if if there's so many things I can say that I
- 0:15could have done better. And I don't know how we came
- 0:18back and won the race, just a testament to how fast our car
- 0:20was. And but yeah, I definitely have
- 0:22a lot to clean up with myself and moving forward.
- 0:25But you know, it was a great way to come back from that penalty.
- 0:27It was way too chaotic of chaotic of a race for for my
- 0:31liking. But you know, we ended up
- 0:33getting the job done anyway. So it is what it is.
- 0:36But definitely a lot of frustration.
- 0:40Was that the night night sully like from Steph Curry or was
- 0:43that a reference? To your naps?
- 0:44That was a reference to my naps, No, Yeah, I someone was yelling
- 0:49at me to do it. And I was like, that's a good
- 0:51idea, so I did it. But no, that was not a Steph
- 0:53Curry night night. The second thing is like, so you
- 0:57talked about the mistakes. How do you clean those up with
- 1:00people that might be upset with you, some of your teammates
- 1:03after this race? But how do you approach that
- 1:05scenario? Yeah, I mean, I've already
- 1:06texted three people that I feel like I did wrong and you know, I
- 1:10just got a drive at 80% of these places.
- 1:14Like I'm so fast. I just that obviously that
- 1:16penalty hindered us and, you know, kind of got my head
- 1:20spinning a little bit and and put us in a bit of a bad spot.
- 1:22But you know, to to come back from that was really good.
- 1:25And, you know, I just got to stay calmer from now on, right.
- 1:28I I did it well at Watkins Glen, but you know, I this rate this
- 1:32race felt a lot like last year at Coda and, you know, I am
- 1:36frustrated that I made the same mistakes again, But you know,
- 1:39I'm I'm sure that I'll be able to learn from it.
- 1:41It'd be better moving forward, But somehow we ended up getting
- 1:43the win. So happy about that, but you
- 1:45know, still frustrated. Over here with Jerry.
- 1:49Jerry. Jerry Jordan kicking
- 1:51thetires.net Obviously you passed a lot of cars that you
- 1:55know, going through the field, but what was what was that like
- 1:57trying to make trying to make your way back up to the front
- 2:00and also being the second youngest driver to get multiple
- 2:04wins. What did you learn today that
- 2:06you might be able to make some history tomorrow?
- 2:09Yeah, that's really cool. Yeah, it was.
- 2:11It was really good to get that pack experience for tomorrow's
- 2:15race. You know, I learned a lot of
- 2:17good passing zones and, you know, I feel like that
- 2:19definitely helped me prepare for tomorrow's race.
- 2:22It's going to be a lot tougher tomorrow.
- 2:23Everyone is so good in the Cup series that, you know, it's it's
- 2:27going to be really tough to pass those guys.
- 2:28But yeah, a good day to, you know, get some experience under
- 2:32my belt here at the new track and yeah, cool to get my my
- 2:35second win and I think 7 races. So, yeah, excited that I'm able
- 2:41to do that And and, you know, looking forward to Phoenix next
- 2:43weekend. It's a good track for me and
- 2:46definitely a lot to build on, but obviously tomorrow is a
- 2:48really big day too. I.
- 2:50Got over here with John. John, you be savage ventures.
- 2:53So you said in your post race interview that you know your
- 2:56brain was in a fog. I just go more into detail and
- 2:59what all that entailed. Yeah, I mean, that penalty is
- 3:02tough, right? When you're the fastest car and
- 3:04you're just like cruising out front and then, you know, a
- 3:07penalty that's not really in your own control puts you to the
- 3:11blast. And you know, it's never easy on
- 3:14a driver, but I knew how fast my car was.
- 3:16And at first I feel like I did a really good job.
- 3:19But as I start getting to the, the faster guys, they started
- 3:21racing me harder. And, you know, not giving it to
- 3:24me is easy. And that's when I started making
- 3:26more aggressive moves to get by them and which I probably
- 3:28shouldn't have done. I, I, you know, I needed to be
- 3:30more patient and continue to be more patient, but you know, I
- 3:33learned from it and, and, you know, get better for the, the
- 3:35next Rd. course we go to and apply this to the race tomorrow
- 3:39and. Read over here.
- 3:42Spencer with the NASCAR wire service, the contact with the 24
- 3:46looked like it was pretty hard. How much did that affect the the
- 3:50performance of the car? Yeah, I did a lot.
- 3:52I was rubbing the right front for a few laps and and you know,
- 3:55I actually the right front blew after the race.
- 3:57I don't know if it was because I was locking it up, doing
- 3:59burnouts or what, but you know, I, I, it was close, right?
- 4:04I saw the one blew a right front and, you know, I had damage and,
- 4:08you know, I was probably being harder on it that I needed to,
- 4:11but I saw the one locking up into 13 a lot and, and he was
- 4:14having trouble. But, you know, I was able to
- 4:16learn from from kind of seeing what he was doing to hurt his
- 4:19tire and and, you know, kind of apply that to me and I was
- 4:23trying to be as easy as I could on it.
- 4:25And thankfully it made it to the end.
- 4:31Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:31When he fell out, I started driving a lot easier because I
- 4:34knew I had a big gap to, you know, the, the cars behind.
- 4:36So yeah, I definitely did start taking it a bit easier after
- 4:40that. And you know, I, I'm glad we
- 4:42were able to make to the finish. Trey Campbell here of one O 27
- 4:48ESPN So with the win now you're kind of in the playoffs.
- 4:52Do you approach everything a little bit differently now?
- 4:54Do you kind of race a little bit differently with?
- 4:59You know, I, I think that I can, you know, be a little bit, I
- 5:03don't have to win, right. I, I have that win under my
- 5:05belt. I'm locked into the playoffs.
- 5:06We can race for stages a little bit more and go for stage wins.
- 5:10But you know, I think having that win is definitely a sense
- 5:12of comfort and it's good to get this early in the season.
- 5:15So I'm glad we're able to do that so quickly and, you know,
- 5:18excited to to go into the rest of the season and kind of see
- 5:21how it plays out. I'm not really sure how this
- 5:23changes our mindset going forward, but, you know, it
- 5:26definitely is a sense of relief getting locked in and, you know,
- 5:29race three of the year. Steven Stump frontridge.com
- 5:35Connor, for as much as you said you're frustrated with just how
- 5:38chaotic and the mistakes you made, you still here in Watkins
- 5:41Glen, you still won the pole, led the most laps and won both
- 5:44races. So are you kind of just counting
- 5:47down the days to Mexico City, which is the next Rd.
- 5:49Course to just, you know, just finally have that perfect race
- 5:52where you avoid that trouble and just to see how what you can do.
- 5:56I wouldn't say I'm looking forward to it.
- 5:57I I'm definitely, you know, excited for the road courses
- 6:00this year, but honestly I'm looking forward to learning more
- 6:02on the ovals and getting better there and continuing to improve.
- 6:05You know where I'm struggling, right?
- 6:06I feel like I'm, you know, at the speed is obviously there in
- 6:10in the Xfinity car Rd. courses and you know, that's not going
- 6:12to be my issue when it gets time to, you know, go to Mexico.
- 6:15I'm going to definitely think back to this race and, you know,
- 6:17know what I can do better. But you know, I wouldn't say by
- 6:20any means I'm, you know, counting down the days for
- 6:22Mexico. You know, I'm excited for every
- 6:24race this year. And you know, Phoenix is next
- 6:27weekend, which is, you know, I finished fourth there in the
- 6:29fall. So there's no reason we can't go
- 6:30out and and compete there as well.
- 6:32Justin Schuler have one sports. So we've already talked with you
- 6:36a couple times today already, but you've been kind of talking
- 6:41more about making less mistakes, making sure you check one box at
- 6:47a time. So here's another box checked.
- 6:50What can you learn from this race?
- 6:54How the new layout kind of transpired into racing action
- 6:58because we saw it in practice and qualifying.
- 7:00And now how does that translate to Cup, especially with 6A and
- 7:03and that cut off because that's where you got your damage from
- 7:06And then learning about the the light with the pit Rd. kind of
- 7:11the hard way. So how do you now translate all
- 7:13of that knowledge as as a rookie making your Cup debut tomorrow
- 7:19to try to repeat this? Yeah, it's it's great to, you
- 7:22know, get this experience under my belt.
- 7:24I have another shot to go out tomorrow and, you know, execute
- 7:26and have a good day. And and that's the plan, right?
- 7:28It's definitely a little bit better there because, you know,
- 7:31I don't feel like I need to go win and I don't need, you know,
- 7:33I'm not the favorite to win the race, right?
- 7:36I don't feel like there's any pressure to go out and compete.
- 7:38I just need to go out and, you know, have a quiet day and and,
- 7:41you know, hopefully by the end of the race, we're running the
- 7:42top ten and can get a good result.
- 7:44But you know, it's definitely good to, you know, get this
- 7:49experience and, and feel how this track races and understand
- 7:52the new cut off and, and the, you know, race trim and, and,
- 7:56you know, on restarts and how you can pass there.
- 7:59Carson made a really good move on me there to, you know, almost
- 8:02get the lead back with 7:00 or 8:00 to go.
- 8:04And, you know, I definitely took note of that.
- 8:06So I'm excited to see what that is like tomorrow.
- 8:09And, you know, it's definitely going to be a a chaotic corner.
- 8:12Does Josh talk to you? Josh Wise, talk to you about
- 8:14specifically the Cup races tomorrow.
- 8:17We've talked about everything. You know, I've prepared for this
- 8:19race just as much as, you know, the race tomorrow.
- 8:22And you know, as, as different as the cars may be, the, the
- 8:26technique is kind of still the same.
- 8:28So, you know, I, I've gone over a lot for both races and you
- 8:33know, I'm excited to, to see what, you know, the race will be
- 8:35like tomorrow and, and how different it will be.
