- 0:13SPEAKER_00: This is a global movement for women, by women engaged in a collaborative effort to create a better world for future generations.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: To find out more about the movement, visit divasletcare.com after the show.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Right now, though, stay tuned for another jolt of inspiration.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: Welcome to Confidence in Bloom, the podcast where women find their way back to themselves.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: I'm your host, Tina Spolotini, and this season we're exploring the topic I believe is so important: collaboration over competition.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: As women, we all have our own experiences, gifts, challenges, and dreams.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: What happens when we stop seeing our differences as something that separates us and start recognizing how much we can learn from and contribute to one another?
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: What becomes possible when we build together instead of trying to do everything on our own?
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: Today, I'm delighted to introduce Anna Farha Miller, a wellness entrepreneur and spiritual guide who, alongside her husband Mark, has built Marcana Wellness.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: Through yoga, Reiki, sound healing, meditation, tarot, and wellness retreats, Anna helps people reconnect with themselves and explore what wellness and spirituality mean to them personally.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: What I especially love about Anna's approach is her belief that there is one, there isn't just one path for everyone.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: She encourages people to stay curious, trust their intuition, and give themselves permission to grow and evolve.
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: I think that connects beautifully with our theme.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: Collaboration doesn't mean we all have to think alike, do things the same, or have the same experiences.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: It means we can bring our individual gifts to the table and create something meaningful together.
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: Anna's own journey has included profound life changes, personal healing, and the unexpected ways that new connections can shape our lives.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: So welcome, Anna.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: I'm so happy to have you here on Confidence and Bloom.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: Yes, thank you for having me.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: Awesome.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: Now, I would like to know a little bit about your own personal journey into wellness and how it grew.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: I mean, obviously, you went through some significant, you know, life experiences and changes.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: And so when you're looking back, was there a moment when you realized that the path you had been on was no longer the path?
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: Like when I guess when did you realize that this is not the path I want to be on?
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: And how did you your experience sort of begin to change as you saw yourself going through and what you thought was possible?
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: So I um had been through significant change back in 2020.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: Um, obviously it was COVID, but at the same time, um, my husband at the time was dealing with alcoholism.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: And that's what ultimately took his life in December of 2020.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: And I was 30 years old at the time.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: I'd been with him all of my 20s.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Um, but through a lot of unhealed trauma that he had gone through really since childhood, he had ultimately been using alcohol to cope, and a lot of it was hidden from me, and I didn't realize how bad it had gotten for him.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Um, so when he passed away, like it was a sudden passing.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: I wasn't necessarily prepared for it.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: Um, but because of what he had been dealing with and really his um his inability to kind of value himself enough to want to get better and to see the other side of that and recovery, I knew that I couldn't really stay being with him anymore either.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Um, but because it was COVID and because he had been out of the job most of that year, um, we were still together up until he passed.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: And I'm thankful for that too.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: Like I'm thankful I could be there for him until the end.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: But ultimately, with how much he was suffering and dealing with, it really was a relief when he passed away because I knew he wasn't suffering anymore.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: And like I hated that that had to be his story.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: But at the same time, it really gave me a whole new lease at my life, and I hadn't really been on any kind of spiritual journey at that point.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: Um, but I had already been doing yoga for many years, but really just more for the physical practice.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: But coming out of that grief and loss and things reopening post-COVID, I was able to get plugged back into the yoga community here in Oklahoma City.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: And that was just really an integral part of my healing journey coming out of that and learning these other healing modalities that now I've ultimately been able to help other people with on their healing journeys.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: I mean, you I mean, you didn't know of how you could help your husband, but now at least you know that other people don't have to suffer the way he did.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: And often we don't really look, I mean, I think we live in a different world now, but I know generations before us, they didn't really look at suffering as internal, right?
- 5:39SPEAKER_02: It's always been like they talked about suffering physically, right?
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: Like pain-wise.
- 5:45SPEAKER_02: They've never really looked at, you know, like the reason why people, you know, have gone to the drinking and to the drugs.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: They didn't really look at they're trying to numb feelings or they're, you know, they're trying to not have certain emotions that they can't deal with.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: And so you're in a, you know, you're kind of in a in a lucky position where you, you know, like you know that those people are suffering, right?
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: And and I mean, the world today, I think, feels a little bit differently about, you know, someone like your ex, your first husband, where he's, you know, suffering and you know, numbing the pain, right?
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: And I think that's what I think that's what we're doing is, you know, I feel better when I drink.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: I don't feel the pain, I don't feel the sadness, I don't feel the depression or the anxiety or the whatever, you know, whatever it was that he was dealing with.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: I, you know, it makes me curious when you were going through all that, what kind of helped you make that first step, right?
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: Into something that you didn't, I mean, you you couldn't possibly know what where it was going to lead you, right?
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: I mean, you knew you wanted to help people, you knew that you maybe couldn't have helped your husband, but now you're like, no, I don't want other people to suffer this way.
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: What was that first step that you took?
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think I think a big part of it was really just kind of learning more about energy and energy work in general, um, which I ended up getting certified in Reiki to be able to help with that side of things.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: But I think just really witnessing um a lot, like a lot of the community I was around when I was with him, like our lives very much were focused around alcohol and partying.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: And like I said, I was in my 20s, and it was just like a very normal social thing for us.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: Um, and really like after he passed away, I didn't say, you know, I'm never gonna drink again.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: Like I didn't become sober like that.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: Um, however, I just became a lot more aware of like how often I wanted to consume, and if I did, how much it would be, and really not wanting to overconsume, you know.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: And so I think just being around a community that kind of helped me get away from just that default behavior of drinking, because it was like no matter what we were doing as an activity, like drinking was accompanying that activity, you know.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: So it was just like such a normal part of our lifestyle.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: Um and until until I had to hospitalize him because he had been going through withdrawals back in February of 2020, which I didn't even realize that was happening at the time because um he had not consumed for a few days, and that really just like caused harm more for him.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: Um, and since it was during COVID, it was so isolating.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: So, like most of the people we were around weren't really having to like witness this decline in him like I was.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: And so just coming out of that, um being around people that were just already on some kind of spiritual healing journey, no matter what the origin of that was, I just kind of felt this like kindred nature to the yoga community that was just helping me with without judging, too.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: You know, it's just like walking alongside me as I discovered what um I wanted to do to take care of myself, what kind of life I wanted to live after loss, and also what kind of partner I wanted to find next.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: Right, yeah.
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: So, and you have found a new partner, your husband, Mark.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: Uh, and you have built more kind of wellness together.
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: Um, and so I'm, you know, you obviously you're gonna bring your individual experiences and strengths into this shared business.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: How did that partnership even come about?
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: And what have you discovered about yourselves and each other through creating something?
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: Some I mean, you're creating something brand new together, brand new.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: So, how like you had to have learned, you know, some really like eye-opening things about yourself and about your new partner.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: So um, coincidentally, Mark and I actually met on the day that would have been Patrick's and my nine-year anniversary.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: And so that day was just a really hard day for me.
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: Um, I ended up leaving work, but I had plans to go to a friend's yoga class that night.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: Um, and he also happened to be going to that, and we didn't know each other yet.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: So we met at this mutual friend's yoga class, and while we were there, we realized that we would be on the same yoga retreat that started two days later.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: So we ended up being able to just like spend a lot of time together really quickly, um, and really just had this, you know, very quick basis of friendship through having met at that class and then connecting at the retreat and just really spending the whole retreat together.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: Um, so he already had his yoga certification at that time too.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: So he was already really plugged in to that world.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: Um, and once once we connected, like we really just kind of never were apart.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: So it just like felt right.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: And he had also um just gotten divorced, like he had gotten divorced and been with his ex for many, many years, um, like since high school, and he's in his 40s now.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: Um, but we were both in very big transitions of our life and like the intention of what we wanted to look for in our next partners because we were just in very different places than we were, you know, with those people that we once loved, right?
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: For sure.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: So just kind of already having that basis of like already being into wellness, if you will.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: Um, I had started learning Reiki and sound healing around that same time.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: And then once we were together, like he just kind of started learning all the stuff with me, too.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: So it was just like this side-by-side journey that we were leading, kind of having had our independent journeys to getting to that point, and then really just like combining our practices.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: I ended up getting my yoga certification in 2022.
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: And we started the business full time when I was part of a layoff at my last um job, which I worked for the state of Oklahoma in July of 2024.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: So, really, I'd been building it along on the side that whole time leading up to the layoff.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: And then when that happened, I knew that it was just time to fully commit to the business.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: And it's just really special to be able to do that with my husband because you know, the experiences we're able to provide to people too are just really unique and coming from both of our perspectives and our gifts.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Um, so I'm just really grateful to have that opportunity to share this with him.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: I I'm now I'm curious.
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: So, I mean, partnerships, I mean, there we have there's so much to learn, right?
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: When in in any kind of partnership or any kind of relationship.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: I'm wondering, you know, what your partnership with Mark has taught you about trusting someone else's strengths rather than feeling, you know, like you have to do everything on your own.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: Well, what's funny with Mark is that it's also trusting his literal physical strength because hauling around a bunch of sound healing equipment is tedious.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: Um, so we kind of joke sometimes that like he's the muscle and I'm the brains.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: Um but he he has the brains too.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: Um, but he has his own remodeling business also.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: So he's like really busy with that during the day, which make like I end up um doing a lot of networking during the day, specifically with women's groups here in Oklahoma City, and just having that balance of like relying on him for kind of all the physical nature that our events are and that our classes are, um, and him showing up and like doing the all of the actual things that we do with me.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: But then on the back end, like I'm doing the social media and the admin side of things, and you know, just helping spread the word about our business.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: So we have a really good balance of like what we're both good at and what we both bring to the table while also still like sharing in the actual um teaching too.
- 14:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, that's that's really important, right?
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: I mean, you need to keep separate, you need to work together, but you also need to know like what jobs each of you hold, right?
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: I mean, at the end of the day, you're all you're both responsible equally, right?
- 14:57SPEAKER_02: But you can't do both, like you can't do all the jobs equally, right?
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: Someone has to sort of, you know, take over this job and have control over this job.
- 15:07SPEAKER_02: And you know, so it's it's nice to see like in a in a marriage that you can also hold those responsibilities as a business and keep them separate from marriage, right?
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: And I'm sure, you know, like you're no different than anyone else, right?
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: There are days, I'm sure, that you're like, okay, not now.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: Where it's like, I don't want to talk about this at this moment.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I just need a minute to decompress sometimes for sure.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: Um, because what's funny too is like we're both Geminis, and so we're both very like talkative and communicative.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: And he can be that way more than me sometimes.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: So like he'll kind of still want to be talked through ideas and things.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: And I'm just like, I've had enough for right now, but we'll get back to this.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: Like I said, not now, right?
- 15:58SPEAKER_02: Like, just not right now.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: But it's just it's also really inspiring and motivating because if I didn't have that, you know, like I think that kind of gives me that accountability that I really need that is harder to have when you're doing it all on your own, of course.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: Of course, so that just kind of helps keep me in line too.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: And also he's like not a tech person.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: So me handling all the back end of things is really beneficial.
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: I guess, yeah.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, I can imagine that.
- 16:29SPEAKER_02: I'm not a tech person, and you know, I rely on my husband for many things because I'm like, I and part of me doesn't even want to learn it, right?
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: So I'm like, you you know it, you just do it, like you figure it out.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: It doesn't, I mean, it doesn't always work to my benefit because sometimes if I knew, then I wouldn't have to wait around for him, right?
- 16:49SPEAKER_02: But I get what you mean.
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: Like sometimes it's just better.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: Let me handle this, you handle this.
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: Now, when we had our last conversation, we talked about how like personal the journey of well like when you when you're on a journey of wellness, right?
- 17:07SPEAKER_02: It is very personal.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: Uh, you offer in your business several different practices because people, I mean, as people, we all connect with different things.
- 17:18SPEAKER_02: How has like embracing that idea influenced the way you work with people?
- 17:23SPEAKER_02: And has it changed in how you view other women who do similar work as yours?
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think with the variety of like classes and offerings that we have, there really is something that can appeal to everybody.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: And whether that's like just through a yoga class or through a sound bath, you know, we try to make our events and classes really accessible and all levels for people, um, which there can be a bar barrier about that with yoga, where people think, you know, I'm not flexible, I can't do that.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: And it's really just encouraging them to start where they are and being able to build upon their progress and really notice that over time.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: Um, and then same with meditation, you know, I think a lot of people have misconceptions about what meditation is, how we do it, and what it means to meditate.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: And really um we just make it accessible again, where it's like you don't have to clear all of your thoughts, you know, it's just coming back to your anchor, whether that's your breath or whatever your focal point is.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: Um, because we found too that when we're able to essentially slow down our brains by all the distractions that we have throughout our day, um, these different modalities help slow down our brain and help us be able to tap more inward.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: And when we have that ability to kind of stop some of that outside noise, then our own inner wisdom really has the place to come forward.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: And we just often don't give ourselves space to let that happen.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: So ultimately, like all of the things that we offer to our clients is to just help them have that space to have that reflection and awareness so that they can make choices that support the path that they want to be on.
- 19:16SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 19:17SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 19:17SPEAKER_02: Um the yoga studio that I go to and I practice yoga at is is like that.
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: Like they they they accept you for you know where you're at at the moment, right?
- 19:27SPEAKER_02: And and I mean, let's face it, I mean, I'm in my 50s.
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: There are days where my body doesn't want to move the way I want it to, right?
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: And so I'll go to a class and I'll be like, hey, I was able to do this last week.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: How come today I can't, right?
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: But the instructor has always been really, really great at, you know, it doesn't matter.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, leave the judgment at the door, right?
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: Do what you can today.
- 19:52SPEAKER_02: Now, that doesn't mean, you know, you know, you're gonna just sit there like I'm I can't do anything today.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: No, you have to at least try, right?
- 20:00SPEAKER_02: You have to at least do something, right?
- 20:02SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, and if that means you can't hold a pose for a full minute, you don't hold it for a full minute, right?
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: You hold it for two breaths instead of five or whatever it works out to be.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: No, I I would imagine like you're I mean you're working, I'm assuming you work with men and and women in your classes, right?
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: Because you're hitting it's I would think we're gonna, yeah.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: So yeah, yeah, I mean primarily we're with women.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: But there are some.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: I even in my in like where I go, I I call it my studio.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: It's not my studio, but the studio that I attend, um, there's you know, often, you know, I'll go to a class and there's two or three men and I'm like, oh wow, right?
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: Like, and I did ask my husband to come with me once and he walked out and said that won't happen again.
- 20:50SPEAKER_02: But you know, he did he did try, right?
- 20:53SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, but I'm I'm curious to know, like in in your like your classes or in your business, has there been, you know, something valuable that you've learned from someone else that was sort of completely different from what you sort of planned or what you thought was I don't want to say the right thing because we all know that there's, you know, I do it this way, you do it that way, that neither one of us are wrong.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: But have you learned something from someone else in your business that you would have never thought of before?
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Well, when I was first learning like Reiki, sound healing, tarot, I was learning that alongside somebody that was very helpful to me at that time.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think that is so powerful to be able to have that kind of apprentice like relationship almost with a teacher that is helping guide you.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: Um, because you know, all of this stuff, you can learn it online, you can go on YouTube, you can do it on your own.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: Um, but I learned Better by doing and someone showing me.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: And so that was really instrumental at the beginning of learning these practices for myself.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: But then we've also tried to just be lifelong learners where just because we feel comfortable in knowing what we're doing doesn't mean we don't want to keep growing and making it better, right?
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: So just always having that like lens of improvement with the business and with our offerings and being really intentional about the space that we're holding and that we're creating for our people.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: Cause it's a full sensory experience, you know?
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: So it's like we take into account all of those aspects before we're really doing anything to really try to create the most inviting, welcoming space that we can.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: And also, like you said, like leaving that judgment at the door, allowing that permission for ourselves just to be who we are when we show up today, and shedding that comparison, which is so hard to do.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: But just like being okay with it's okay that I was able to do this last week and today I'm not.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: But even having that awareness of noticing and wanting to, you know, create habits that are going to improve that is really beneficial.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: Um, but I will say too, in some of our you know, research with doing things with other practitioners, I would I would say we've probably found more of what we don't want to do than what we do.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: Um so it is still it is still like that comparison of like how we see other people doing the certain type of things we do, and kind of being able to feel more confident in knowing that what we're doing um just yeah, just having that confidence in ourselves that like we're really providing a special quality experience that isn't necessarily happening across the board.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: You know, not all yoga classes are the same, not all sound baths are the same.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: And people don't really know that until they've had a variety of teachers to really see like what they connect with and what feels good to them.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: So I encourage people to be able to practice with different people to know like who they really connect with and who feels right for them.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: Because ultimately you wanna, you know, we're gonna attract the people that want to do things the way that we're creating it to be, you know?
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: Um, and just like trusting that the right people will find you and and you'll connect with the right type of clients that want the support that you're providing.
- 24:36SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: So I did um I it was so long well, it was seven or eight years ago now, I did a silent retreat, right?
- 24:45SPEAKER_02: And that was like 150% out of my comfort zone.
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: I'm a chatterbox, right?
- 24:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and the timing actually was perfect because my grandmother had passed away and this was the next day.
- 24:59SPEAKER_02: So it was it was a really good time for I was gonna cancel.
- 25:03SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I'm just not gonna go.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: But then I was like, I can't talk to anyone anyway while I'm there.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna go.
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: This could actually be a really good reflection time for me because you know, morning is you know, it was sad.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: I was, you know, I just lost my grandma.
- 25:17SPEAKER_02: So um they did a bit of a sound healing, you know, and a meditation.
- 25:22SPEAKER_02: And I was like, this is weird.
- 25:24SPEAKER_02: Like I found it really strange.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: And I and I don't even know what I found strange about it.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: Like if you said well, what was wrong with it?
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: I couldn't tell you, right?
- 25:33SPEAKER_02: I just found it very weird.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: I I was like, I don't think this is the room for me, right?
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: And so the silent part of it was way better than I had expected it to.
- 25:43SPEAKER_02: But I also, like I said, because I was grieving, I needed that time to myself.
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: Um, but the the sound healing part, I was like, I don't know.
- 25:53SPEAKER_02: I've been to one or two since and I just don't, I don't know, it's weird to me.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: And I and I know that you're gonna be able to explain, you know, maybe what I'm not getting out of it or what I need to do to get something out of it.
- 26:07SPEAKER_02: Because I think I I mean, judgment doesn't always stay at the door for me, right?
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: There's times where I sit in a room and I don't feel and I like I said, I don't feel like it's the room for me.
- 26:17SPEAKER_02: And I think that's about judgment.
- 26:20SPEAKER_02: I don't know if I'm judging the other people in the room or if I'm judging myself or expecting to be judging judged.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: I'm not really sure, right?
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: I would like to know though, where I was trying to lead with that, with that statement was you know, if you could share a time when like um you're collaborating with someone, right?
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: And I'm thinking like on the sound, I was thinking the sound bath.
- 26:46SPEAKER_02: Like it's not something you do, um I don't know how to say it.
- 26:52SPEAKER_02: Sometimes you have like a retreat and you're not doing the whole retreat on your own, right?
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: Sometimes, you know, you have someone come in that, okay, you're gonna look after the meditation, I'll do the yoga class, or you know, you can do the you know, the sound bath or whatever.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: Has there ever been a time where you know a collaboration or a relationship sort of opened a door for you that might not have opened it had you sort of been on your own journey on your own?
- 27:21SPEAKER_01: Well, um, what comes to mind for me is another sound healer that connected with us that she actually found us through Chat GPT, which that was the first time that we had heard that happen.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: This was about a year ago.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: She reached out and was like, I found you guys through Chat GPT when she was looking for sound healers in Oklahoma City.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: Um, because she does some sound healing, she she's a massage therapist, so she also incorporates some energy work within her massage, but she'd never done like a full sound bath for a group of people.
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: She'd kind of only done like stuff with individuals.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: So she had been approached about wanting to do a group event, and she didn't really feel comfortable or confident facilitating that.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: So she found us to bring in to do that for a group of women that was actually at one of our local uh YMCAs.
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: And we got to come in and do um a class that we did with her too.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Um, and she was able to kind of give more individual attention to the people in the class while we kind of did our regular thing.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: And that we didn't practice beforehand, which I wouldn't say is recommended.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: Like nor just like any kind of music performance, you know, you kind of want to rehearse it, right?
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: Um, but with her, um, we also just didn't like there, we just didn't really know because also um she's from Spain, and so English is her second language, and there was a little bit of communication barrier there too.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: So we didn't know how much like involved she was gonna be in the actual session or not.
- 29:03SPEAKER_01: Um, but she came and brought her stuff and just kind of like did her thing, and the only reason it worked is because we were able to work well like energetically together, and that isn't always the case, and so like it's truly all about like intention and energy and like what energy that person is bringing to the table, and she is just like a very sweet person, like very well-intentioned person, um, which not even all people in like the spiritual healing space are coming from those good intentions, so it's really being able to learn like who are the right people, who are the right energies, and Mark's much more of a feeler than I am, but like he can feel that in people very quickly of like, are these people worth our time and energy of working with?
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: Because some people are more coming from an egotistical place or an from arrogance, you know, and not just from want like truly just wanting to help people and hold that space for people.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: There's people in this space who are just really looking to be almost like worshipped or followed by people, and that's how you know cults happen and things, and that's not necessarily just like in the wellness space, but like you know, when people take things too far because they don't have good intentions, like you just really have to have that discernment in a space of healing to like only allow the energies that are gonna support your people, and as you know yourself more, then I think you're able to have that discernment more with with like who you want to allow into your space.
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: And uh so we're really selective about who we choose to work with because not not everyone is out there for the same reasons, right?
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's it's really sad when you hear stories like that, but we all know people like that, right?
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: Like there's so many that you know they live in their ego mind and they don't even know how to come down to the level where I'm just in this for healing and for, you know, like for like authenticity, right?
- 31:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so yeah, and I mean that's not I I don't know that that's like necessarily a bad thing because they don't know that there's a different way, right?
- 31:26SPEAKER_02: Once they learn, then they start, oh, we can do this together and not compete, right?
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: I wonder then what helps you celebrate another woman's success, even if her success has looked completely different from yours.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think um, well, because I got involved with the women's business community right away once I started doing the job full time, or because I had been out of networking for several years.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: Like I hadn't been doing it since before COVID.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: Um, so getting back into it in 2024, like I just immediately sought out groups of women that that were entrepreneurs, and it was just immediately such like this accepting environment to be in.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: And we we're all in different industries, you know, we're all doing different things, but we just all have this like inherent respect for each other that we've chosen to work for ourselves and to make our own way.
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: Um, so I think just all starting from that same like foundation has just really made it easy to want to support what other women businesses in the community.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: And the way that that often comes to fruition is really just through like tagging people on Facebook when people are asking for different services or products.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: Like it seems like women, um at least where I live, like I'm in a lot of different groups on Facebook, and people use that more like for their Google of like wanting to get recommendations for things, and people are trusting what other women are saying or who they've had a good experience with, more than just looking something up on Google.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: So those like referral partnerships and relationships that I've been able to build over these two plus years have been so amazing because all the women who I've met, they really know me as like the wellness person.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: So when anyone's asking about the type of stuff I do, I'm one of the first ones that comes to mind that they're gonna tag in those posts that help get our name and business out there.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: And because I return that favor too, you know, it's not just a one-sided thing.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: So my friends see me tagging them and stuff that's relevant to their business, and just having that two-way street where we're all trying to help each other.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: Um it's it's really awesome to be part of.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: Um, but I will say there's not really many people that show up in those spaces that do the type of work that I do.
- 34:03SPEAKER_01: So, like I'm usually one of the only ones in the room that does any type of work like this.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of wellness people, but they're maybe more like on the nutrition side or like, you know, in different parts of wellness, or maybe like selling products or supplements or whatever that is.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: Um, but as far as like the offerings we have, I tend to be the only one in the room that does that.
- 34:26SPEAKER_01: So then when someone's like, I want to do a sound bath or I want to do a Reiki session or I need a tarot reader for my Halloween party, you know, just all kinds of fun things that we're able to do through like the variety of what we like to do for people.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: It's just helped us really um elevate because people trust us and people have come and experienced what we do and know that they want to recommend that to their friends.
- 34:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what that's and it's well, I mean, it's it's nice that you get tagged, right?
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: But it's it's almost sad that you're the only one in the room, right?
- 35:04SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's because I mean it's good for you, and I don't mean it in a bad way, but you know, it it kind of goes to show that we haven't got there yet, right?
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: We are still we still don't know that you know people like you are out there trying to help us, right?
- 35:20SPEAKER_02: Because I mean, I get the feeling that you are authentic, that you are really trying to help people be more in touch with their bodies, be more in touch with who they truly are.
- 35:31SPEAKER_02: And you know, and we need, you know, you can't help everyone, right?
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: You can help, you can help women, right?
- 35:37SPEAKER_02: But if there's more of you, right, we need more of you.
- 35:40SPEAKER_02: We need more Annas in the world so that you know there's more, you know, whole people, right?
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: Because that's what that's what you're creating.
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: You're creating people that are whole, you know, not and people are not broken, but you know, yeah, you just bring it up.
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: And what and and what I recognize too is that you know, I'm in a really different place running my business than a lot of other women are.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: So I don't have young kids at home.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm able to really be available to do the work and to be out there doing the networking that some women just don't have the ability to do because of their other responsibilities and schedules.
- 36:21SPEAKER_01: Um, and I do have a 19-year-old stepson, but he lives with his mom.
- 36:26SPEAKER_01: And like I never really had to be a mom to him.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: Like I was kind of just able to be a friend to him too.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: So I joke that I kind of joke that I got to skip to like the empty nester part of life without having done the work.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: So I'm pretty privileged for that.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: I'm thankful.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: Um, but like he was 14 when I met him, so he was already, you know, growing up.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: Um, but like a lot of the women who I network with are moms who have young kids who have drop-off and pick up pickup times, and you know, just don't quite have the availability that I do to be able to be at all the coffees or lunches or have the one-on-ones with women, um, just like we did initially, you know.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: So I'm really lucky and thankful that I do have that time and space to build the relationships because me showing up and being in the rooms is what's allowed that to happen.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: That is otherwise, you know, if you're only showing up online and not building those in-person connections, I think that only goes so far.
- 37:33SPEAKER_01: And yeah, absolutely person and word of mouth referrals have been everything for me.
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, absolutely.
- 37:40SPEAKER_02: Okay, so I'm gonna ask, I want to ask you three more questions.
- 37:44SPEAKER_02: The first one is what does a meaningful community look like to you both personally and professionally?
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think professionally it's it's really being in those rooms where women are coming to the table to support each other.
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: And not that there aren't women who also are coming from those egotistical places, but you can feel that from them, and everybody can feel and know that about that person.
- 38:13SPEAKER_01: Um, and so I think it's it's just like having that authenticity where we're willing to show up and let everybody know, like, this is who you should call for this.
- 38:27SPEAKER_01: This, you know, I have a person for this, and just like sharing in that community.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: Um personally, it's really such a crossover for me because those women business communities really are also my like social time, you know.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: So, like it's it's women that I've become friends with over the years that I'm excited to see each month at whatever it is that we go to.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: So it's really hard to separate that for me.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: Um, because now like my closest friend group are all women who are also entrepreneurs and business owners.
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: And we've been able to kind of create our own little group um of like spiritual women, entrepreneurs is what I call it, where like we hold space for each other monthly also.
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: Um, so like I've kind of been able to turn that professional into personal also, because most people from like my old life, it's like I just don't, I I don't have anything in common with them anymore.
- 39:26unknown: Right.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: So I've been able to really foster those great female friendships through the women's business community, right?
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: Like it's just so intertwined for me.
- 39:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but it's true.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: I mean, especially when as an entrepreneur, you're gonna be spending more time working than you would if you were only working a corporate job.
- 39:47SPEAKER_02: And don't get me wrong, I get it.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: Corporate jobs, there are jobs where you have to take work home with you.
- 39:52SPEAKER_02: But when you are an entrepreneur, like you need to be your business, right?
- 39:57SPEAKER_02: Like you're not just going to work, you are the business that you're creating.
- 40:02SPEAKER_02: And so when the people that you surround yourself with are also doing the same thing, it just makes it more natural for them to become your tribe, right?
- 40:13SPEAKER_02: I do.
- 40:14SPEAKER_02: And that's what that's what we're talking about, right?
- 40:16SPEAKER_02: It's not just about, you know, I'm I'm working, I need to work against you because I need to do better than you.
- 40:24SPEAKER_02: It's not about that anymore.
- 40:26SPEAKER_02: It's now about, you know, we're looking for the same growth in each other, right?
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: You support me, I support you, we both grow forward together.
- 40:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:38unknown: Yeah.
- 40:39SPEAKER_01: And they I've heard something.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: Have you heard that phrase where it's like you are the average of like the five people you're closest to?
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: So it's just like again, being very mindful and intentional about the energies you're choosing to let be around you.
- 40:54SPEAKER_01: And if they're not energies that are helping uplift and support you, it really is creating those boundaries that that can be really hard, especially if it's family that we need to enforce more sometimes.
- 41:09SPEAKER_01: Yes, because especially with family, I think it's extremely hard for families to see growth in each other because you're just kind of always whoever you were in your family dynamic and unit.
- 41:23SPEAKER_01: Um, so Mark and I have both found like you know, we've kind of he's helped me create a lot more boundaries with my family that were needed.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: Um, because whoever I'm choosing to spend my precious time with, and like my love language is quality time also.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: So, like time is the most valuable thing that I could give somebody, in my opinion.
- 41:45SPEAKER_01: So it's like I am very, you know, it is just again being very intentional about who you're allowing to take up that time.
- 41:55SPEAKER_01: And if you're walking away from time spent with them, feeling fulfilled or feeling drained, and really like have that honest conversation about that relationship and be able to create boundaries that aren't just like cutting people off, you know, but it's just like doing something in a more healthy way.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: Because especially with family, we often don't allow that for ourselves and just kind of revert to um whatever archetype we are in the family unit.
- 42:27SPEAKER_01: Um, and that's just not always who we feel like we are today.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 42:32SPEAKER_02: I love, I really actually really love that.
- 42:34SPEAKER_02: That is actually, I think, the answer to my second last question here.
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: I was gonna ask you what is one thing you wish more women understood about supporting another woman's growth, and right, and I think I think you answered that because it's it's about boundaries, it's about you know supporting you, like it's about, yeah, like how you I can't even remember exactly how you said it, but you said like, you know, I'm gonna set my boundaries and you, you know, you need to respect that.
- 43:02SPEAKER_02: I need to respect that, right?
- 43:04SPEAKER_02: And I do get to choose who that, you know, who my partner is for the support that I need.
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, unless you want to, you know, add to that, you know, the answer to that question.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: Well, I guess the only other thing I would say is that respecting the boundaries you've set for yourself is the only way other people are gonna do that for you, too.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: And it's so easy for us to like let ourselves down sometimes and be like, I don't need to stick to that, or I'll try it again another time, you know, and just kind of having to have that focus and discipline that can be really difficult.
- 43:40SPEAKER_01: Um, but like growing in that strength of standing up for yourself and what feels good for you, and not, you know, not letting people walk all over you or take advantage of you.
- 43:53SPEAKER_01: Um, I think the more women can lean into that and like be around those energies that help support that.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Them, it it just kind of helps everybody grow because they could they see that there is a different way of doing it and not feeling like you're always in this stuck, anxious place when we can really take more control over that.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 44:17SPEAKER_02: Now, if a woman listening today wants to feel more connected and less alone in her own journey, what is one small step that you would encourage her to take?
- 44:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think seeking out a group of women, you know, you can find them online, but like having those in-person meetups with other like-minded women I think is so valuable.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: And it doesn't have to be, you know, you don't have to be a business owner.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: It doesn't have to be through that aspect, but just really like finding your tribe of people that kind of each have their own gifts too, but that are all, you know, have the same like values as you.
- 44:59SPEAKER_01: Um again, like different Facebook groups I'm part of for Oklahoma City, like there will be women in there who are being very vulnerable and are like, you know, it's been really hard to make friends as an adult.
- 45:10SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm looking for women who share these type of values or want to do these type of things, and and just having that vulnerability to kind of ask for what you're you're wanting and seeking, because the more that you're putting that out in the universe of what you're looking for, then then you're gonna be able to find that easier.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: So I think it's just having that intention of the kinds of friends that you want to have, because I think sometimes we value history and friendships too much, where it's like, well, they've been my friend for 20 years, you know.
- 45:43SPEAKER_01: But it's like if again, if you walk away from those interactions with them feeling drained or feeling like they're just using you, you know, it's like it's okay to evolve beyond that or to walk away from things that don't feel right anymore and to seek something better.
- 45:59SPEAKER_01: And and that goes for friendships or romantic relationships.
- 46:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, any kind of relationship, right?
- 46:06SPEAKER_02: I agree, I agree, and it's nice to hear that someone else is saying that because you know, sometimes you know, I've thought that myself, and then I think then I feel bad, right?
- 46:16SPEAKER_02: I feel bad to let her go, or you know, I don't want her to think that she's done anything wrong because she may not have done anything wrong, she just doesn't fit with my goals, right?
- 46:26SPEAKER_02: And where I want to go with my life, yeah.
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: Well, and and being able to have yeah, being able to have those kind of honest conversations with people, I think it those kind of difficult conversations are often avoided.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: Yes, and it's just easier to just not address it or to just kind of let that rift grow larger and larger over time and just you know, whatever.
- 46:53SPEAKER_02: Then it becomes where the relationship ends because you no longer care for that person, right?
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, you have the conversation, yeah.
- 47:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and just have that honesty of like, you know, we're in different places of life now.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: I still love you, but our lives just don't mesh the way they once did.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: Um, and I I have like a lot of old friends that it feels that way with.
- 47:15SPEAKER_01: Um, but like I'm still I still want to see them succeed and do well in life, but it's just I'm just not walking alongside them in that way like I once was.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 47:27SPEAKER_02: And they're and that's okay, right?
- 47:28SPEAKER_02: And you you have to be okay with that first, and then they have to be okay with that, right?
- 47:34SPEAKER_02: Because if you want to be there supporting them and wanting, you know, wanting to see them go through all the changes, right?
- 47:41SPEAKER_02: And you're holding yourself back, you're missing out.
- 47:44SPEAKER_02: But when you know that that's just not my space anymore, you have to be okay with that.
- 47:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: Well, and that that became very, very obvious to me when I became a business owner.
- 47:56SPEAKER_01: Because building something, like and taking those leaps of faith to build a business, like the women I was meeting through these networking communities that like didn't even know me before, you know, like I was feeling more supported by them than people I'd known my whole life, or people who five, six years ago I would have called my best friends, you know.
- 48:19SPEAKER_01: So, like, again, that inherent support that comes from women who have chosen to go into this for themselves and and want to have that freedom and flexibility that comes with owning your own business.
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: Like, we just already get each other in a way that people, it's really hard for them to understand if they're not also doing that.
- 48:40SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 48:41SPEAKER_02: Because we know, like other fellow entrepreneurs know what you're going through, right?
- 48:46SPEAKER_02: You don't have all the answers, you don't have all the time, you don't have all the support.
- 48:51SPEAKER_02: When you're, you know, with your friends that you've grown up with, or your cousins, or your sisters, or you know, they know you, they know what you're capable of, but they don't want to see the change, right?
- 49:01SPEAKER_02: And so yeah, when you meet people that are going through the same things that you're going through, you are gonna bond with them a little bit faster because they they get you, right?
- 49:10SPEAKER_02: And you get that.
- 49:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, totally get that.
- 49:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:13unknown: Yeah.
- 49:14SPEAKER_02: Well, thank you so much for today.
- 49:16SPEAKER_02: This has been great.
- 49:17SPEAKER_02: I really appreciate you sharing your story.
- 49:19SPEAKER_02: It does not sound like an easy time in your life.
- 49:22SPEAKER_02: You know, your perspective on how you, you know, pulled yourself out of that and have come to where you are now is amazing.
- 49:31SPEAKER_02: I'm, you know, I'm I'm grateful for you for going through all that.
- 49:35SPEAKER_02: You know, sometimes it's it's hard to admit, but sometimes if you don't go through the crappy part of life, you can't get to the sun sunshine, right?
- 49:44SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, I mean, we have to pull ourselves out, and you did that, you did that well, and now you're sharing it with the world.
- 49:51SPEAKER_02: And I am really, really grateful for that.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: It was it's always great to share and just be able to have women realize there are other options and that we can choose the lives we want to live for ourselves.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, absolutely.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 50:09SPEAKER_02: So, one of the things I'm taking away from the conversation I had with um Anna today is that growing together doesn't mean we have to be the same.
- 50:20SPEAKER_02: We can have different experiences, different strengths, and different ways of approaching life and still learn from one another, open doors for one another and make meaning meaningful differences together.
- 50:31SPEAKER_02: I also love the reminder that sometimes the connections we we make lead us somewhere we were never expected to go.
- 50:38SPEAKER_02: We don't always have to figure out everything on our own.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: If you'd like to learn more about Anna and the work she and Mark do through Marcana Wellness, I'll include her information in the show notes so you can connect with her and explore her offerings.
- 50:52SPEAKER_02: To the woman listening who may be in a season of questioning herself, figuring out what's next, or wondering how to make more room for herself in her own life, I want you to know that you don't have to do it all alone and you don't have to have all the answers today.
- 51:07SPEAKER_02: Sometimes the next step begins with getting curious about your own thoughts, recognizing the voices that have been influencing your choices, and asking yourself, what do you really want?
- 51:19SPEAKER_02: If you're ready to explore that for yourself, I'd love to connect with you.
- 51:22SPEAKER_02: You can learn more about my coaching and reach out to me through my coaching business.
- 51:27SPEAKER_02: You can also connect with me about the itty bitty shitty committee, the familiar chorus of thoughts that can keep us second-guessing ourselves, or join the Confidence in Bloom community.
- 51:39SPEAKER_02: Thank you for spending this time with us on Confidence in Bloom and the Divas That Care Network.
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: Until next time, keep growing, keep connecting, and remember that you don't have to do it all alone.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening.
