- 0:07Welcome back to a special special edition of the Just in
- 0:11Time podcast. Yes, Sir.
- 0:14I'll be sick of seeing us today. I will get well soon, brother,
- 0:18that'll be all right. But, you know, I felt like we
- 0:21had to give the baseball team their respect.
- 0:24But, you know, when was that? May 20th, you know, the last
- 0:30game of their season. The best news to come out of the
- 0:35LSU. It happened for LSU was go
- 0:38Tigers. Hello Geron.
- 0:40Coach O is back with the LSU Tigers.
- 0:43You know, love to see it. Love to see it.
- 0:46He hasn't coached. I saw a tweet this weekend.
- 0:50Edo Geron hasn't coached a college football team since it
- 0:54was legal to pay players. He is going to be a mess in the
- 0:59state of Louisiana. Is on lock for the LSU Tigers
- 1:03and Lane Kiffin. Yeah, like, this is a very
- 1:07unique time in this, in this school's history when it comes
- 1:09to athletics. You know, I told you the other
- 1:11day, you might as well just call LSU, rehire you.
- 1:16Yeah, it's it's it's rehire you. I'm.
- 1:19Going to put on these glasses so I can break down some numbers
- 1:22for y'all, OK? Johnny Jones fired so they can
- 1:25hire Will Wade, hired back in 2026.
- 1:29Will Wade gets into trouble and is fired by LSU.
- 1:33Hired in 2026 Coach Ed Ozieron, Mr. What door you want me to go
- 1:39out of? Ozieron fired in what, 2021?
- 1:46Yes, Sir. Fired in 2021, back in 2026.
- 1:50You know, there you go. All I'm waiting for is them to
- 1:52announce for baseball at Pulmonary is coming back as
- 1:55expenses baseball analysis. You had joked about that.
- 1:59Yeah. Special like that.
- 2:01Listen, come on. And then every team, every team
- 2:04that had a that contributed men's team that contributed to
- 2:07this bad stretch of, you know, and they don't even have to be
- 2:12pulmonary. They can bring best local dial
- 2:14for a special offense. And I'm good.
- 2:18Yeah, but you know, it's wild, you know?
- 2:23You know, like I said, just, you know, real quick before we dive
- 2:27into, you know, you brought up Will Wade.
- 2:30If you look at it from like a surface level standpoint, like
- 2:33objectively when it comes to college basketball, men's
- 2:36basketball, NC State is a far and away better job.
- 2:40Like LSU is a terrible job. Like just he cut this off.
- 2:43Just we looked at the history historically is a terrible job
- 2:47comparison. It's not even close.
- 2:48NC stays on a whole another level, but because this
- 2:52situation is so unique, that's, I know, like they're they're
- 2:58upset about. Yeah, it's a unique situation.
- 3:00I think like I said, like it's a terrible job.
- 3:05People need to be clear. It's a terrible job.
- 3:06It's a great story right now. It's a terrible job.
- 3:08The only coach who had any kind of men's basketball success was
- 3:15Dale Brown. Yeah, so so Dale, you know, he
- 3:18had led him to cut multiple Final Fours, 81 and 86 and they
- 3:2487 they were a game shy. They lost in the elite 8 if I
- 3:27remember. But like since this since 86 LSU
- 3:30men's program, they've only been to the Final four once in the
- 3:34last 40 years. Like in my in our lifetime has
- 3:37only happened once. We were in we were in middle
- 3:39school. So is this.
- 3:42And, you know, but I think a lot of Will Wade coming back has to
- 3:46do with the unfinished business he felt.
- 3:48Yeah, I agree. Because I think that his last
- 3:52year in 19, he was a game away from making it to the 8.
- 3:56If I'm not right, I think they were making it to the Elite 8.
- 4:00They were a game away. Yeah, in 2000, 2018-2019, lost
- 4:04regional semifinals to that side.
- 4:06That's the Sweet 16, Yeah. Yeah, so he was on a cusp.
- 4:11And I think if they we, and let's let me make it clear at
- 4:16that point we were in trouble for football stuff in Will Way
- 4:21was used as a scapegoat. He had to go to save the
- 4:23football team and. Which is the right to save?
- 4:27We made them the sacrificial lamb to save the football team
- 4:30because the football team is what brings you in.
- 4:33You know, baseball is arguably our most successful sport.
- 4:37Yeah, at least in the high profile sports.
- 4:39Yeah, for sure. But football is your numbers
- 4:43guy. We don't have the championships
- 4:45to match the baseball, but we've got the the money and stuff, you
- 4:48know? It's what pays for stuff.
- 4:53So it's it's just like looking at objectively, it's what pays
- 4:56for stuff because baseball has doubled the championships as
- 4:59football. So it's like they're not in the
- 5:01same level as like his success wise football, not the same
- 5:05level of year, but but it's more it's the most popular sport, you
- 5:09know, brings the dollars and they they have historic success
- 5:12in their own right, but it's just more popular and it brings
- 5:14the IT brings the money. So.
- 5:17And that's the one you should save.
- 5:20All right. You know, then Speaking of
- 5:22football, you know, just going into it with that ocean, you
- 5:26know, I never noticed this, mainly because I was at the
- 5:30games or I was just watching for the podcast, you know, But my
- 5:35uncle said he noticed that Edo Jerome was at a lot more
- 5:39baseball games this year than he's ever been to in the past
- 5:42couple years. So he could see it coming.
- 5:45But I also didn't know that Edo was working with our defensive
- 5:48lineman. Yeah, that's what you told me,
- 5:51Elite. Sports Center at the elite
- 5:53Sports Center, you know, for a couple of months now.
- 5:56So I think he was waiting for that last human Lane Kiffin.
- 6:00We're waiting for that last check to clear.
- 6:04And then LSU got a had to put out ozone on back on payroll.
- 6:07You know, and Speaking of Lane Kiffin and his own team the NCAA
- 6:14open Ole Miss tampering probe after Clemson complaint the
- 6:17brother. But we talked about this you
- 6:19remember. Yeah, yeah, just we talked about
- 6:22this on this podcast a while back in January because he
- 6:29reported because Davos Sweeney came out and said accused of Ole
- 6:35Miss of improperly communicating with linebacker Luke.
- 6:38What I have you say his name, including Pete Golding sending
- 6:42them a sending that kid a text message with a picture of
- 6:45$1,000,000 contract saying something like, you know, saying
- 6:50something along the lines of we can give you this and they
- 6:53can't. And then I think he had Jackson
- 6:55Dart call him, you know, and try to get him over.
- 6:59You know, it's just wild. All the things that they accused
- 7:03Lane Kiffin of doing, Keith Golding was doing and getting
- 7:06caught. And that's the thing about, you
- 7:08know, you sweep around your own front door and.
- 7:11Then you know, I don't want to get into what Elaine Kiffin said
- 7:14in that Vanity Fair article. Yeah, we have talked about that
- 7:17briefly as well, but there's. Because we already hit on it.
- 7:21But I saw something that to get, you know, I, and this is how I
- 7:27take it, Ole Miss gets in trouble because they waited like
- 7:31four or five weeks to do this after that Vanity Fair thing.
- 7:35Yeah. They get caught, they open a
- 7:37tampering thing, now they're whining, and they went to SEC to
- 7:41punish Lane Kiffin for words that he says in an article, you
- 7:46know? Yeah.
- 7:48And you know, looks like we said, should Lane Kiffin has
- 7:51said what he said? Probably not.
- 7:52But you going and whining to the to the SEC about what he said
- 7:57shows me two things. It's absolutely true because you
- 8:02wouldn't be whining and complaining about what he said.
- 8:05You'd be in actively trying to disprove it if it wasn't true.
- 8:09Yeah. And two, you know you're coach
- 8:11did something wrong and you know if the NCAA looks at it is
- 8:14farther. So it it's because you use it as
- 8:17as a as a diversion. Yeah.
- 8:19So, so it's like, and my thing is like you are sitting just
- 8:22like, is she, is she like, you know, Kiffin can't he?
- 8:26He presented the information about the recruits unprovoked.
- 8:30It's like, so it's just like like you said, to your point,
- 8:33like I probably wouldn't say that because like you could just
- 8:35that's the South. Like you could say that about
- 8:37every school in the South have that history.
- 8:40So like you shouldn't necessarily isolate Oxford and
- 8:44Mississippi as a whole. But my thing is, like you said
- 8:47to your second point, the version, you know, just trying
- 8:51to, you're trying to get out, get the heat off you a little
- 8:53bit. You already have a situation.
- 8:55You already have B for the coach to begin with.
- 8:57Yeah. And then in in this particular
- 8:59situation for Ole Miss, what it means is their head coach can
- 9:04get suspended for his first year as their head coach.
- 9:07That's the guy they would for now, for they say they better
- 9:11hope now. And I don't know why they wanted
- 9:13him. He was up and pretty sure Pete
- 9:15Golden was a head coach in the NFL for a little while and
- 9:17couldn't win to Pete Golden and that's why he got fired.
- 9:22So his coach, well, he he'd been like like assistant pretty much
- 9:27this whole time, you know, But yeah, so this is going to be his
- 9:33first coaching gear according to like Wikipedia.
- 9:35But just because last couple last three years he had been the
- 9:40the defence coordinator for Ole Miss and the inside line or the
- 9:42inside linebackers, Alabama for several years before that DC
- 9:47inside line. But yeah, coaches Southeastern
- 9:49for two years. But just like, yeah, this is
- 9:52first gig age 42 from the state. But but I get what you're saying
- 9:56is just listen, you know, this is not the ideal way for you to
- 10:01start off your tenure as a coach.
- 10:03Absolutely not. When you're doing this and it
- 10:06looks bad on you, this isn't true, you know, but you just
- 10:10can't go out and do that. And while complaining that your
- 10:14old head coach who it's not technically tampering is he
- 10:19recruited those kids and he's telling, look, I'm going to LSU,
- 10:24you know, and let's not play around, let's not beat around
- 10:27the Bush, OK? Because certain people who are
- 10:33big Ole Miss fans, I have heard different times that the way
- 10:38that athletic director at Ole Miss in athletic administration
- 10:41there handled the Lane Kiffin thing, Lane Kiffin wanted to
- 10:46stay with them. Kids.
- 10:48Coached them all through their playoff, they said.
- 10:52They said we're not doing that. And they let him go through
- 10:55those negotiations and then did all of that to make him look bad
- 11:00so they can have a narrative that he is a big evil guy and
- 11:06he's a hoe and turn LSU into the villains, Which let me be
- 11:11totally clear, OK? Do you really think a university
- 11:17who yells out on national TV sucked that tiger Dick bitch
- 11:23Dave? He's worried.
- 11:26He's worried about you calling them a villain.
- 11:30But see, and the the the fan base embraces that.
- 11:34So it's just like. Every time Nick Saban would come
- 11:37into that stadium you would hear a whole thing of FU Saban.
- 11:41Do you really think the university that does STDDB and
- 11:46yells that then might I add, their student section last year
- 11:51blew up a condom? It was bouncing around like a
- 11:55balloon. Do you really think they're
- 11:57worried about you calling him a villain?
- 12:00But they, but they don't want the attention.
- 12:01Yeah, they, they, they feel like that.
- 12:03But yeah, it's like going back to like, you know, like it
- 12:06brings you back to like the Will Wade stuff too, again, real
- 12:09quick. I know we talked about it, but
- 12:10just like. No, it's.
- 12:12Yeah, but it's like with the NC State people, like they're not
- 12:16happy. They just like a lot of people
- 12:18are just, yeah, they're just not happy.
- 12:20Just the back and forth and stuff.
- 12:22I said, listen, mind you will Wade got in trouble before he
- 12:26was hired by you guys. So like you guys still made the
- 12:29decision to hire him, yet you still you call him the state.
- 12:33I said listen he this is the same quote UN quote snake you
- 12:36hired. Yeah, and my favorite part was
- 12:39he said, you know, for somebody that said it was a mediocre
- 12:41coach, they sure complain he left and hate knowing him to
- 12:45leave him. Come on now, brother,
- 12:47championship stat, come on now. But but it just goes like I
- 12:51like, I understand being upset, but it's my thing is brother,
- 12:53listen, like I said again, like on and I said before, on a
- 12:57normal circumstance, like it doesn't make sense to make this
- 13:00movie because it's you say it's a far and away better basketball
- 13:03job than the men's side, but just in a unique circumstance.
- 13:06That's that's what it boils down to.
- 13:08Yeah. And then all of this about him
- 13:09going, get those players, those European league players.
- 13:12Man like brother like. As if that's no other program to
- 13:16do that. Yeah, and it's only a big deal
- 13:19because it's wheel weight and LSU doing it, you know?
- 13:22It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a selective outrage is like I like
- 13:26to call it. Yeah.
- 13:28So this that's, that's what it is bro.
- 13:31Just the state of Louisiana is on lockdown for college
- 13:35football. You know Erdogan is going to go
- 13:39out there. He's hired to do what he's good
- 13:41at. Yes, Let's look up what Edo's
- 13:44Edo Geron Official job title at LSU, Special assistant to
- 13:51recruiting and defense. Yes.
- 13:54Is what his official job title is at LSU perfect for him?
- 13:59He's probably the best recruiter LSU ever had, you know?
- 14:02Definitely up there. And he's a fantastic defensive
- 14:06mind. Yeah, you know, you throw him
- 14:09with Blake Baker in his game over defensively.
- 14:13So like you said, like he's, you know, he's famous for his
- 14:16defensive line coaching. That's what he he produces
- 14:19really solid players on the on the line of scrimmage.
- 14:22And of course, his recruiting relationships.
- 14:24That's what you need. I mean, because that's what you
- 14:28need. Yeah.
- 14:29And like he he's has this proven track record going back to his
- 14:32time as a coach at Wholeness. You know, this Tommy Elders
- 14:35shoe, of course, you know, on the on the coach staff of both
- 14:39UFC and LSU, just like you've seen it time and time again.
- 14:43And I think, like I said, you know, it's he's just he's just
- 14:47the latest to joy rehire you, you know, Yeah, wait.
- 14:50Well, sure. Fine.
- 14:51Like you said, you ain't known pulmonary.
- 14:53I said even though you can be smoked like you said, I said
- 14:56listen. Yeah, it's about time, OK that
- 15:00this happens. Shadow can be the new Pete
- 15:02Jenkins. It's about time we give poor old
- 15:05Pete Jenkins a break that come in to save the LSU defensive
- 15:09line and the LSU defense when they need it.
- 15:12Arrows your eyes Pete Jenkins 2.0.
- 15:14You know 484 year old Pete Jenkins.
- 15:17They had to put him on a golf cart this last couple seasons at
- 15:20LSU because he couldn't. It was taking him too long to
- 15:23walk on and off the field, you know?
- 15:24But we've got Edo now. The future is bright for
- 15:29realistically, the speech is bright for all of LSU sports.
- 15:33You know, after a rough year, the rough year they had this
- 15:37year, the the excitement was much needed.
- 15:39Just a change of scenery. You can tell in the fan base,
- 15:42you know, fan base cannot wait till football season.
- 15:46You see it like I look at you know, I was scoring the morning
- 15:49scone. Just you see it in the comments
- 15:52every day like you know, football season can't get fast
- 15:54enough. They are granted, look, granted,
- 15:57they already do that every year, but just like.
- 15:59But this year, with how the sports have gone and the three
- 16:02major sports, well, it was a rough GOAT.
- 16:05We've been spoiled as of late. It's been 15 years since LSU
- 16:11didn't make it to that last regional.
- 16:13We've been spoiled, OK. We've always had baseball going
- 16:17on till mid June, so realistically we had two months
- 16:20to wait for another sport to come in for football season.
- 16:25Now we've got to wait a full 3. No, Yeah, three months, Yep, a
- 16:30four, three months before we get another LSU sporting event.
- 16:33You know, it's kind of a dead time.
- 16:37Yeah, you know, just listen. Now listen and I'm glad you
- 16:41bring it up because listen, all you guys are watching and listen
- 16:44to us right now. This is your opportunity to give
- 16:46us some ideas to talk about throughout this summer.
- 16:50So this is your chance. Now we want to hear from you
- 16:52guys this decide. Though we will be covering the
- 16:57draft because it's going to be the MLB draft, because it's
- 17:01going to be interesting for LSU. You know, we'll cover transfer
- 17:05portal stuff. We'll try to cover as much
- 17:06football information as they leak out that's actual prevalent
- 17:10to football and not Lane Kiffin going run his mouth somewhere
- 17:13like I'm excited. Look, we've got Clemson coming
- 17:16up. The home schedule for us is just
- 17:20amazing. You know, we've got Clemson.
- 17:23You know, then we take a break with Tech, but then we've got
- 17:26Texas A&M at home, Magni, another break, might as well
- 17:30just throw by. And then that weekend from Mini
- 17:33State, you know, then we have Mississippi State at home,
- 17:37Alabama at home, Texas at home. You know, then we finish the
- 17:41season up on A2 Game Rd. stretch.
- 17:44But it's meaningful football throughout the whole season for
- 17:49us. Clemson, Ole Miss, Texas A&M,
- 17:52Kentucky, Mississippi State, Auburn, Texas, Alabama,
- 17:55Tennessee in good faith. Can't say Arkansas or Kentucky
- 17:59to be honest. Kentucky thinks they're going to
- 18:01have this big offensive production, but they have Joe
- 18:04Swan as their offensive coordinator.
- 18:06So unless they have 7 foot £600 guys at running back, I don't
- 18:13think you're going to have much offensive production because his
- 18:15famous players we go running up the gut.
- 18:20Yeah, I was to your point about, you know, to the football
- 18:23season, the schedule, you know, Skoner was saying just if you
- 18:27could get through the month of September unscathed, you should
- 18:30have a a, a easy should. You should have an easier time
- 18:33to October. And then you got the Garland in
- 18:35November, of course. But I'll just Texas for the
- 18:39first time, you know, that's that's here, you know, just
- 18:42since they've been in the conference at least not our
- 18:44first time playing them obviously, but just so.
- 18:46No, this is the first time I can remember them coming here.
- 18:49Yeah, yeah, to the, especially to the conference.
- 18:52So since they've been in conference for sure, let me see
- 18:54if I can look up. Because I think we were supposed
- 18:56to in 2019. We had a home and home schedule
- 18:59with them that they cancelled in 2020 and was supposed to come in
- 19:042021, but they didn't want to. Yeah, so the all time series
- 19:08things like they say it's a nine, nine and one.
- 19:12Yeah. So I had to go that close, but
- 19:14just like so the full games list page, yeah, obviously the last
- 19:18time we played them was in 2019 in Austin for the Championship
- 19:24series. That before that it was it.
- 19:27We didn't play them since 2002, which we lost by 15 in the
- 19:32Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day. When did they come?
- 19:35Have they come to bat Rouge ever?
- 19:38They have come to Baton Rouge. The last time they came to Baton
- 19:41Rouge was in September 19th, 1953.
- 19:46And this is according to our Windsor Pedia.
- 19:49So we won a game 20 to 20 to 7. So now the left before that they
- 19:54had, they had came here again the previous year, but they'd be
- 19:57the 3514. Yeah.
- 19:59But that according to Winnipedia now that's like 1953 was the
- 20:03last trip here. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:06You know, Speaking of the great state of Texas, we dodged a
- 20:10major bullet with Source B because I think it just came out
- 20:16a few hours ago. The NCAA has marked him
- 20:19ineligible. Yeah.
- 20:22I hope he's got it in that oil royalties contract that he had
- 20:25with Texas Tech that he still gets paid even if he doesn't
- 20:28play. Help me.
- 20:32Yeah, but you got to think about these ahead of time.
- 20:34This I want it in writing. This facing Got to have it
- 20:37writing got to have it recorded. Look, do you want everything in
- 20:43writing? Everybody out there, you know?
- 20:47But I'm feeling pretty good about Sam Lovett now.
- 20:51Yeah, he was even even running like just, you know, it looks
- 20:54like he's a full goal for like the the upcoming workouts.
- 20:57You know, that's what I heard this morning.
- 20:58So just yeah, it's encouraging. Like when I, when I, when I look
- 21:02at football seasons, my main goal is to, I want everybody
- 21:06healthy as they can be like this.
- 21:08Like that's the big like you talk about this, this unit
- 21:10working, doing nice, this unit struggling.
- 21:13You know, I'm not saying that they don't have merit with those
- 21:16discussions, but my thing is like, are the are y'all healthy?
- 21:19Because we've already lost two guys for the year couple months
- 21:22ago. So I'm like my biggest thing,
- 21:24get through the offseason unscathed as much as you can.
- 21:28That's my biggest focus. Yeah.
- 21:30And here's another one for me, OK?
- 21:33Because it you wouldn't think this would be a problem with a
- 21:38new coach coming in. But with that last clown, we had
- 21:42conditioning, you know, the condition of our players
- 21:46physically, the endurance level, you know, yeah, that's what we
- 21:51need to be able to come up. And you know what I'm saying?
- 21:54Like the very first game against Florida State that we played at
- 21:58the Superdome. Yeah, we got yeah.
- 22:00You had our top players huffing and puffing and throwing up on
- 22:05the sideline and on the field. And we're getting pushed around
- 22:08now, granted, Will Campbell like there was that was his first
- 22:11game as I thought of this freshman year.
- 22:13But like, but you play against Jared Verse and Bray.
- 22:16I'm like, brother, like you, you got to be in better.
- 22:19Like you got to have those guys in better position.
- 22:21Yeah, you got to have those guys condition to play, you know
- 22:26that. My point being is it was the
- 22:28first game and you practice all summer long in 100 and something
- 22:32degree weather. What was Brian Kelly doing at
- 22:35these practices? Because, you know, they were all
- 22:37closed off to the media. There was no media presence
- 22:40really at practice during Brian Kelly's tenure here.
- 22:45What were we doing? You know, were they just
- 22:51sitting, sitting on that bus the whole practice, taking the knee
- 22:55and gossiping the whole practice?
- 22:56Because they sure weren't doing anything physical.
- 22:58They never looked ready to play, you know?
- 23:01Man, the offensive line struggled again last year.
- 23:05Not necessarily. Condition wasn't like the
- 23:07biggest thing, but it was just like a just.
- 23:10A. But now I'm just saying like.
- 23:11Yeah, I'm. Yeah, Yeah, I'm.
- 23:13Just saying from the like, first game of the season, his first
- 23:18career game at C, coach at LSU, his team was unconditioned.
- 23:22You know, that's my point. That's just my point.
- 23:24But they never looked fully prepared to play a football
- 23:26game, you know? Yeah, just, I mean, and it was
- 23:30and it showed, Yeah, unfortunately.
- 23:33And like I was a big listen, man, like, you know, I was a big
- 23:36supporter for him. But like you just can't have
- 23:38like the lead downs and keep your job.
- 23:41It's just like 23 and I wouldn't really broke the record with
- 23:45this 23 elite offense, no show on defense, 25 elite defense, no
- 23:51showing off it like you just you just can't have you can't have
- 23:54you can't waste elite units. Yeah.
- 23:58And then here's one for me. You know, Brian Kelly getting on
- 24:02that CBS show before draft weekend.
- 24:06Yeah. And Sam knows is going to be
- 24:09good, but you know, he's played the quarterback position.
- 24:14He's going to learn how to take a hit in this and that when
- 24:19throughout your whole LSU career, you almost ended Jaden
- 24:22Daniels his career in his first year, remember, he had that
- 24:25Daniels had that knee injury. Yeah.
- 24:28And he started him against Texas A&M, you know, And then in
- 24:32Georgia, he was limping in pregame and he still played him
- 24:35against Georgia and let him get beat up.
- 24:38And they had to pull him to put in Nuss.
- 24:41Yeah. You know, so that's another kid
- 24:44that you hurt. It just came back.
- 24:46He won the Heisman the next year.
- 24:48But. Then you're going to say that
- 24:49about us, who was hurt from fall camp, really had no business
- 24:54playing probably. And you hurt his production.
- 24:57You the reason he went so far down in the draft to almost
- 25:00being undrafted and you're going to come out and say that he
- 25:03needs to be, he needs to toughen up.
- 25:05Yeah. And like you said, I was a big
- 25:09support of his at first just because his success that he had
- 25:14at Notre Dame. But to bring it all the way
- 25:17forward. Did you hear what Edo said about
- 25:19him? What he said.
- 25:22They asked him, he was on a podcast and they asked him what
- 25:24he thought of Brian Kelly at the basketball game.
- 25:27Then she does introduced him and he said it was over.
- 25:31Yes, God, like I was saying, yeah.
- 25:34He's never going to win there. It's over, man.
- 25:36But here's the deal, here's the deal with that a lot of
- 25:40successful coaches at LSU have figured out.
- 25:42Will Wade figured it out. Kim Mulkey always knew it.
- 25:47Jay Johnson figured it out and knew it.
- 25:49Ed Osheron was from here so he automatically knew it.
- 25:52And Lane Kiffin is loving it too and is embracing it.
- 25:56When you embrace Louisiana, we love you, we're going to take
- 26:01care of you and you succeed here.
- 26:03Brian Kelly Never, never embrace Louisiana.
- 26:07Yeah, and that's what you hear. Like my thing is like bottom
- 26:11line, do you win at a high enough level consistently?
- 26:15I think if you would have won, it would have helped them out
- 26:18deeply because you wouldn't have to worry about a coaching search
- 26:21throughout the season. You wouldn't be on the hot seat.
- 26:24But like you said, to your point, there's, there's
- 26:26intangible values that do carry weight, especially like in this
- 26:31in this part of the country. And you see it would fight the
- 26:34coaches. Yes, those coaches had great,
- 26:36you know, Camogie won a title year, Jays won two.
- 26:38So yes, it's easy to say that with the with the wins, they,
- 26:42they produce at a high level to their credit.
- 26:45But he, like you said, those, those, those intangible things
- 26:47do have value. Yeah, they have valued all about
- 26:50intangibles and Brian Kelly just didn't have enough of them.
- 26:53But we are finally finished talking about Brian Kelly
- 26:55forever. Now we're moving on to a happy
- 26:58new era under Lane Kiffin and I will just say this, this last
- 27:03point and then we'll finish it up.
- 27:04If they don't let Ed Ozura come off that field and get that
- 27:08camera, Go Tigers, they're missing a huge opportunity.
- 27:13I don't care what you say, Ed Ozura, that needs to be in his
- 27:16job description at least one game, one time per game.
- 27:20He needs to have that Go Tigers moment.
- 27:23And the sound bite for every episode.
- 27:25But you know, got another shout out Gays jump got called up this
- 27:35week. Rizzy hit the transfer portal or
- 27:41or he's draft eligible sophomore so he could either make the
- 27:44decision to go in the draft or hit the transfer portal.
- 27:47Yeah, that remains to be seen. No, not terribly shocked by
- 27:50that. We had talked about that.
- 27:51You and I had talked about that last night.
- 27:52Just not terribly shocked, just unbelievable, you know,
- 27:54physically gifted, unbelievably. But like you said, one thing I
- 27:57always come back to at the end of the day is just about
- 28:00throwing the ball over the plate and then regardless of what your
- 28:04stuff is or potential is. And like I said, he couldn't
- 28:06just for his, I would just hope for him like wherever he goes
- 28:09next, I hope he dominates because like, I don't wish the
- 28:12deal will on the young man at all or here these guys.
- 28:14I mean, just I want you to be the best version of you.
- 28:17And just unfortunately for him, it didn't work out during his
- 28:19time in Baton Rouge. But like I said, if you like you
- 28:25talk about Cooper Moore, his stuff, he doesn't have the most
- 28:27elite stuff, but he was productive.
- 28:30I would just rather sacrifice the stuff they were like the the
- 28:33physique and stuff like that. They give me the bottom line
- 28:36results. And here, look, I would Rizzi,
- 28:41if somebody could take him and look, I know how this sounds,
- 28:46but get his control. Under control, he'd be an elite
- 28:49pitcher. He's got a fat 97 mile an hour
- 28:51fastball, 98 mile an hour fastball, Yeah.
- 28:53Oh yeah, he. His problem came from that was
- 28:57the only thing he can control. What's his fastball, his break
- 29:01and stuff he didn't have good control over.
- 29:03But brings me to my next point. You know, I love Paul Skins to
- 29:06death, but I think his I'm the top pitcher.
- 29:10He's going to have a little competition coming from his his
- 29:14fellow LSU alumni coming up and Gage job.
- 29:18Then Anthony ISON and Kate Anderson are not going to be in
- 29:21the minor leagues for too much longer.
- 29:23Like they've been, I know, Anthony, they've been, they've
- 29:25been dominating. They've been, they've been
- 29:27rolling in minor leagues. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 29:31I think it's going to be a three-way competition, you know,
- 29:37and as far as career longevity goes, I'll give him the edge to
- 29:40Paul Schemes. I think Paul Schemes would be
- 29:42doing great things for a longer period of time.
- 29:45Yeah. Just because those guys were
- 29:49PO's probably their whole career, all schemes wasn't APO
- 29:54until a week before the season of his junior year at LSU, you
- 29:59know? Yeah.
- 30:00And just to think about LSU pitching in the majors, Grant
- 30:03Taylor, you remember him? Yeah.
- 30:07He missed his whole last season at LSU in 23 before.
- 30:11So if he would have been healthy, we'd have had Paul
- 30:13schemes. Grant Taylor, Can you imagine Ty
- 30:17Floyd? And we would have won all those
- 30:20SEC series that we lost, you know?
- 30:22Yes, that's. It's wild.
- 30:29It would be. Grant Taylor's another one of
- 30:30those guys who's already pitching for the White Sox.
- 30:33I think I'm I'll just pull up like 236 ERA, you know, just
- 30:37like he's he's been doing it so far man just get these guys off
- 30:431.2 yeah, just yeah and just and listen, he's only 24.
- 30:48You know, just like he's still got a one and on the season 236
- 30:53ER. Yeah, but the only reason I said
- 30:56that about Paul Steen's, too, is the longevity of his career is
- 31:01because to my knowledge, I don't think he's had a UCL or Tommy
- 31:05John type of deal. And I'm not mistaken.
- 31:10I used to missed a chunk of that year before he came to LSU
- 31:12because of that. Kate Anderson missed his high
- 31:16school his senior year in high school because of that, and
- 31:19Grant Taylor missed his last year at LSU because of that.
- 31:23You know, it's just wild to me. But you think it was coming up
- 31:28and how much of it? This is for all you people who
- 31:30doubt Nate Yetzky. Come on.
- 31:32Man, just that's why I wanted to say in the last up, so I'm glad
- 31:35you brought that up. Yeah, I was trying to get it,
- 31:38but we we're getting through that powerhouse pole.
- 31:41Yeah. But Nate Yetzky, for those of
- 31:45you who don't like him, you loved him last year.
- 31:50Come on brother, talk, talk. And you you tolerated him the
- 31:54year before that, but that was his first year, so that don't
- 31:56count. But if you look at the
- 31:59production that these pitches have had in the jumps they make
- 32:03from year to year, like Kate Anderson last year, OK, it was
- 32:09the beginning midpoint of the season.
- 32:11I said, I don't know if he's a Friday night guy in the SEC and
- 32:15he went #2 in the draft tearing up the minor leagues right now.
- 32:18But you know, you for another example, you've got gays job.
- 32:21That was Nate Yeski's first year.
- 32:23He spent a year in the minors and stuff.
- 32:26And then he's got called up this year.
- 32:29Kate Anderson and Anthony ISON are both not going to be in the
- 32:32minor leagues for too much longer.
- 32:35They'll be up, you know, And next year when Casein Evans is a
- 32:39junior, William Schmidt's a junior, Cooper Moore is a
- 32:43junior, you know, all three of those guys are going to probably
- 32:48take him in the draft next year. And that'll be William Schmidt's
- 32:50third year, William and Kayson Evans's third year with Yatsky
- 32:56and Cooper Moore second year, and he'll make leaps and bounds.
- 32:59You know, be patient, Give the guy a chance.
- 33:02He's had one down year is if you're going to give Jay Johnson
- 33:06the same. I love Jay Johnson and
- 33:08everything, but if you're going to dog Nate Yatsky, then for the
- 33:13same reason you got a dog Jay Johnson, because it's Jay
- 33:16Johnson had this down year. He put together this team.
- 33:20You know, because The thing is and, and this and like, I'm glad
- 33:23you bought this whole thing because my thing is listen, like
- 33:26first of all, for anybody just saying they got to get rid of
- 33:29yes, he is absolutely outrageous.
- 33:31Like it's, it's nonsensical to me.
- 33:34Yes, they had a bat. It was objectively a down year,
- 33:36but I'm not going to let this judge what he's done so far.
- 33:42Like you said, the the year to year jump from multiple guys,
- 33:45not just one guy because we always want to talk about one
- 33:48person. You'll vote.
- 33:49It's multiple guys across the board jump.
- 33:52You have Kate, like Kate struggled in conference his
- 33:54first year even though he's good in non conference.
- 33:57And last year Anthony Iasser struggled, had struggled in the
- 34:00start, but really took over dominated the rest of the way.
- 34:04Chase Shores had his had his stresses and bring out the
- 34:07bullpen down. The stress when you look at it
- 34:09year over year, like those guys have really made leaps and
- 34:12bounds. A lot of those guys came from
- 34:14lesser programs. Anthony Isaac came from out West
- 34:18come up here well down. But just like I'm just listen,
- 34:22I'm not listen. I'm not on that bingo wagon from
- 34:25any of any one of those guys. And like you said, to your
- 34:27point, if you really want a dog on this, yes, he that bad dog on
- 34:31Jay Johnson. He hired them on staff.
- 34:33If if it's that problematic, but you don't want to talk about the
- 34:36coach because he only won two champions.
- 34:37Listen, he hired the coach that you complained about.
- 34:42So I mean, let's be clear, OK, from 2023, we had two pitches
- 34:48taken in the first round. Our two starting pitches were
- 34:51taken in the first round, yes. I don't remember.
- 34:53I don't think we had anybody in the first round of 24.
- 34:55In the first round this year, we had one taken from last year's
- 35:00team and I think ISON went, Chase Shores went in the second
- 35:04round. So that's two pitches in one and
- 35:06two the first two rounds. And then we had a pitcher taken
- 35:11in every round. Last year, Anthony ISON was
- 35:13taken in the third round, Chase Shores was taken in the second
- 35:17round and Kate Anderson was taken in the first round.
- 35:21You know, that's huge production right there alone that you're
- 35:24losing. Yes.
- 35:27You know the year before that in 20, No, the two years before
- 35:31that in 23, you lost Dylan Cruz, Paul schemes, Chase Shores in
- 35:37the first round, not Chase Shores, Ty Floyd in the first
- 35:41round. That's a lot.
- 35:43Ty Floyd and Schemes where you top 2 pitchers.
- 35:47You know, it happens. You know, in 24 was a down year.
- 35:50It wasn't as down the year as this year, but it was a down
- 35:54year, you know? Yeah, but it's like, but yeah,
- 35:57this to your point, my thing is like, brother, you all have to
- 35:59understand this. You have too many examples in
- 36:02the last, since he's been in the last 2-3 years that he's going
- 36:06to get it turned around. Now if you get to a point where
- 36:09the next, let's say the following two years they have
- 36:13down year still, then that's to me that makes more sense to try
- 36:17to go in a different direction. But listen, I trusted, I trust
- 36:20Jane Johnson. I trust how he builds his staff.
- 36:23I would trust how he's going to build his roster.
- 36:25Listen, he has two national championships.
- 36:27I'm like just I'm not going to get off this bandwagon and say
- 36:32like, oh, well, he's lost his edge.
- 36:35I mean, you could build a roster how you want to with what you've
- 36:38done so far, But this the ultimate has to come down.
- 36:42It has to just show itself. Play yourself out on the field.
- 36:46But like this, like I just I just one thing that's annoyed me
- 36:48about the seasons, just just the outrage of from yes, skis from
- 36:52the anti yeah crowd. I'm just, I'm just not there and
- 36:55you shouldn't be there. No, he's been too good for too
- 36:59long, you know, too good for too long to say, you know anything
- 37:05about like that. And you know, you can say the
- 37:07same about Jay, like, you know. But look, they said that about
- 37:13that man right there. Yeah.
- 37:15You know they said, did the Game Pass get by?
- 37:19You know what Skip did? Won two more national
- 37:23championships, you know. And they and, and my now mind
- 37:26you, they were tailoring away from like, because when they won
- 37:30in 90s and like they were that, that was the gorilla ball era.
- 37:33They were just wreaking havoc. We read the book last summer and
- 37:37like they, they, they went away from that style just to, to make
- 37:41it. And they still getting up
- 37:42winning the win. I'm like come on y'all.
- 37:45Yeah, you know, I said I saw something and I haven't been
- 37:48able to find it, you know, and I still can't find.
- 37:51I've been looking for it for the last little bit.
- 37:54But I saw an article earlier this year that said something
- 37:56about all levels of baseball going to wood bats because the
- 38:03exit below. Yeah.
- 38:05But here's my deal. You watch the I've been watching
- 38:07YouTube videos and stuff from like the bat Bros and stuff on
- 38:12YouTube. Yeah, I see them from time to
- 38:14time, Yeah. Why?
- 38:15You don't have to change the bats.
- 38:18They're still getting the same exit V low off of these wood
- 38:23bats because there's so much new technology with wood bats then
- 38:28there used to be. They're still getting 99 to 102
- 38:32off the of a wood bat as an exit V law.
- 38:35Yeah, there's, there's, it's incredible.
- 38:38It's insane how how much power these.
- 38:41Yeah, and here's my point with this.
- 38:44You don't want exit D level to be over, to be in the triple
- 38:47digits. Then you're looking at your next
- 38:49two MLB stars. Put us out there because that's
- 38:51the only way this ball isn't going to get 100 plus off the
- 38:55bat because you'd have to tell all the elite athletes out there
- 39:01to stop training because we can't have a ball start being
- 39:05gone out again. Bro, like I said listen bro,
- 39:07please clip that this segment put that as a short.
- 39:10I said listen, if you if if that butts of a hassle bro, I will
- 39:13sign my contract today because you already too.
- 39:16Listen, I would listen I'm a quick and put be on the Yankees
- 39:22or I don't care. It don't even matter what team
- 39:24it really don't matter. Yeah, I play for.
- 39:26You want the and also OK. You want the exit be loads to go
- 39:32down. Make all the players just
- 39:34average Joe number one. Then #2 get people like Paul
- 39:38Skins off the mound throwing 100 miles an hour, 102 miles an hour
- 39:42off the mound, and then that will solve your problem.
- 39:44Just tell all the elite athletes in this country, we're only
- 39:47going to save you for the Olympics or something like that.
- 39:50And then put the average Joe out there.
- 39:52And then you won't get 100 and 203 off the bat.
- 39:58You know, as sports fitness goes up, that kind of stuff is going
- 40:01to go up as well, you know, But that's all I have to say on
- 40:04that. Like you put the professional
- 40:07athletics is the elite of the elite, you know, And with all
- 40:10the sports and the money they put into these guys, they should
- 40:14be peak athletic form. They're going to hit 100 off the
- 40:18bat. I'm sorry.
- 40:19It doesn't matter Unless you stick them out there with a
- 40:22rugged tree, they're going to hit 100 off the bat.
- 40:25Yeah. Is it is it it's too it's too
- 40:27much that works in their favour with the technology and the
- 40:30advancement of the body and just take care of the health and just
- 40:33too much. It's too much that works in the
- 40:35favour now for that not to happen.
- 40:37So if you in a in mind you, a defensive centered sport, no,
- 40:43and I'm not saying like you, I'm not saying you got to make it
- 40:45arcade like, but just like in a defensive that's uniquely
- 40:48structured on the defensive side of the ball.
- 40:50You don't want any type of exit, Nilo.
- 40:54Yeah, that's what you're trying to tell me.
- 40:55Like you don't want any any, any type of high moon, moon bottles,
- 41:00moon shots, what everyone call it.
- 41:02Yeah, OK. Yeah, OK.
- 41:05But you know, all that being said, I think this is a great
- 41:09stopping point. Yeah.
- 41:11For us today, like, comment, share, subscribe, do all the
- 41:14things that help us grow, you know, have a great day, great
- 41:17week, great whatever you have, just make it a great one.
- 41:19Yes Sir, and we'll see y'all next week.
- 41:23Yeah, I'll do it. Y'all have a good one?
- 41:25Peace, Peace.
