- 2:57Speaker 1: We love you, big hugs, tiny kisses.
- 3:00Speaker 3: If you or no magazine, get up or no get up,
- 3:02Speaker 3: It don't matter who it is, f S one, Comcast,
- 3:05Speaker 3: whatever you come for me I'm coming for you.
- 3:08Speaker 4: But we know who Number one in linear television.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Is stupid God and games lims level language not bad.
- 3:21Speaker 4: No, simple, it's.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I saw I saw a clip Rusty, just rusty.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I saw a clip on who's the guy that's always
- 3:42Speaker 2: an American idol balld dude who has like he's germophobe,
- 3:45Speaker 2: oh l Mandel. I saw the clip of Dana walking
- 3:50Speaker 2: off the side.
- 3:50Speaker 1: You see that clip? You asked about it. No, I
- 3:52Speaker 1: don't know.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I'm not I'm gonna stay out of why. I don't
- 3:56Speaker 2: know because it seemed it seems so odd. I was
- 3:58Speaker 2: like one of those say I help my boys, all right,
- 4:00Speaker 2: and kind of just move on internally with my own
- 4:03Speaker 2: head because you hope Dana.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I'm hoping Howie Mandel's all right.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I mean there's something must have happened before, like the
- 4:08Speaker 2: show started something, because he goes.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's why you have That's why it'd be
- 4:12Speaker 1: you should help your boy and letting know because if
- 4:14Speaker 1: you take it at face value, kind of a dick
- 4:16Speaker 1: move by Dana. And just like I'm done with podcasts,
- 4:19Speaker 1: like yeah, I'm under the I'm under the assumption that
- 4:22Speaker 1: something had to have happened. But if you just take
- 4:24Speaker 1: that at face value and I'll read into it at all,
- 4:27Speaker 1: don't read into it all. And how he does the
- 4:29Speaker 1: intro like because he you know, he hyped him up
- 4:32Speaker 1: and everything else, and then Dana's just like I'm sick
- 4:34Speaker 1: of doing podcast. Get something, walks off like that's that's tough.
- 4:36Speaker 2: That's crazy, right. Who is the guy sitting next to
- 4:39Speaker 2: him to like this like redneck cat? Like he had
- 4:42Speaker 2: like a ginger, big muscular dude ginger. He does like
- 4:44Speaker 2: these TikTok dances where he's like torquing on gene shorts
- 4:48Speaker 2: and his voice was kind of like mine. Like you
- 4:50Speaker 2: look at him and you're like, oh, that's not going
- 4:51Speaker 2: to come out of his mouth, and then all of
- 4:52Speaker 2: a sudden like okay, all right, so they like but
- 4:54Speaker 2: they did a great job pivoting.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I watched that.
- 4:56Speaker 2: But the reason why I brought it up was you
- 4:57Speaker 2: putting on the headphones. Is who's that fighter well spoken
- 5:02Speaker 2: cat white dude? Uh talked about him and John Jones
- 5:06Speaker 2: both be on steroids back in the day.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Oh you know what I'm talking about talks a lot
- 5:11Speaker 1: of shit. It's who talks like Michaelsbee, Michael Bisbee laws
- 5:15Speaker 1: soon because we did we set out with Bisbee. I
- 5:18Speaker 1: forget his name as well. Maybe we can look that
- 5:19Speaker 1: episode on Jail Chail's sony Jail.
- 5:23Speaker 2: So I watched like a recap video of him essentially
- 5:26Speaker 2: breaking down the whole thing, and he was talking about
- 5:29Speaker 2: how shitty the studio is and he was basically going
- 5:31Speaker 2: at Mendel pretty hard. And then but he brought up
- 5:34Speaker 2: the fact like he's you put headphones on. He's like,
- 5:35Speaker 2: why the fuck in this day and age would you
- 5:37Speaker 2: put headphones on during a podcast.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Especially if you're in person.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're in person, that's the only literally, the
- 5:42Speaker 2: only reason. The first two minutes of this episode, I
- 5:44Speaker 2: thought to myself, I should bring up that story because
- 5:46Speaker 2: you were going to put those on.
- 5:47Speaker 1: And I was like, oh yo, uh, Chail, he's he's
- 5:50Speaker 1: funny dude. I enjoy listening to him because he's a
- 5:52Speaker 1: good ship talker, he's a good storyteller. He's a great troll,
- 5:55Speaker 1: a great storyteller.
- 5:56Speaker 2: He does uh you know the sad the press conferences
- 5:59Speaker 2: where you see like guys walk up in McGregor and
- 6:01Speaker 2: they talked like, oh McGregor, the one of one, this,
- 6:03Speaker 2: that and the other.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Like he had a guy that do that for.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Him and it was very much Rick Flair exciting WW style.
- 6:10Speaker 2: That's the kind of ship that gets me fired up because.
- 6:12Speaker 1: He wanted j and I believe this is what he's
- 6:16Speaker 1: talked about, like he's one he wanted to like bring
- 6:18Speaker 1: that into like that style into the uf you see,
- 6:21Speaker 1: like it doesn't happen, but yeah, like take inspiration probably
- 6:24Speaker 1: from Michael Rick Flair and all these guys who work
- 6:26Speaker 1: the mic and everything else.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yeah, if you think about it, UFC is really just
- 6:29Speaker 2: like a real WWE. Yeah, like it's legit fighting. But
- 6:34Speaker 2: like the storylines is what we buy into. The poyer,
- 6:36Speaker 2: the McGregor's. Now we're seeing Chandler and McGregor and all
- 6:39Speaker 2: these different guys like finding they hate each other. They
- 6:41Speaker 2: don't why hate each other. But then you look back
- 6:43Speaker 2: behind the curtain and all of a sudden, like, oh,
- 6:44Speaker 2: I can see why that dude hates him. Maybe I'm
- 6:46Speaker 2: moving for this guy now. Yeah, it's a whole different game.
- 6:49Speaker 1: And speaking of the Rocks, have you been seeing his
- 6:53Speaker 1: uh have you been seeing his mic work out there?
- 6:56Speaker 1: He's been he's been killing he's back in the ww
- 6:58Speaker 1: He's came back into the wwely coocked. From what my
- 7:04Speaker 1: understanding is, he cocked the Cody Roads. I think it's
- 7:06Speaker 1: Cody Roads, right. I saw the Rock coming in. He
- 7:10Speaker 1: came in, he came in Roman reigns, there's a there's
- 7:14Speaker 1: a big thing going on, and he's basically just jumped
- 7:16Speaker 1: to the front of the line something about the Royal
- 7:18Speaker 1: Rumble and then wrestlemanny and I apologize. Saw the ww
- 7:21Speaker 1: fans out there there correcting me right now. But as
- 7:23Speaker 1: a cat who was in the generation of the Rock,
- 7:25Speaker 1: Stone Cold and all of them, and I haven't been
- 7:28Speaker 1: I haven't kept up at all with the new age
- 7:30Speaker 1: generation of the WWE. But seeing the Rock come back
- 7:33Speaker 1: into the fold, it's like, oh shit, I might want
- 7:35Speaker 1: to start getting back in the storyline. Because he comes
- 7:37Speaker 1: out there, he basically like jumps ahead and skips the line.
- 7:39Speaker 1: That's why he's gone heel like Rock is in full
- 7:42Speaker 1: He's reminding people why he's the Rock, like he's back
- 7:46Speaker 1: on day one type shit, like outside of the political realm,
- 7:50Speaker 1: the good vibes realm, the motivation realm, everything else, Like
- 7:53Speaker 1: he's back being a heel talking shit in the ring
- 7:56Speaker 1: like the ship that you fell in love with the
- 7:58Speaker 1: Rock in the first place for and there there was
- 8:00Speaker 1: a part of me.
- 8:01Speaker 2: There was a point in time where he was like,
- 8:02Speaker 2: I don't I don't know longer to go by the Rock.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I'm Dwayne Johnson. Now, wasn't there like a probably like
- 8:07Speaker 2: the early tens is when he was kind of getting
- 8:09Speaker 2: away from that and kind of steppingway from the WW,
- 8:11Speaker 2: re redefining himself doing the tooth Fairy.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Right right where he wanted to kind of yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 2: A STARp and now he's a full circle getting it back.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Yeah, bro, And I'm pretty sure he's he's he's in
- 8:21Speaker 1: the in WrestleMania like it's going down, and he's been
- 8:25Speaker 1: in the ring. I feel like each week went down,
- 8:26Speaker 1: I'm just talking shit in it. It just juices me
- 8:29Speaker 1: up that he's back in the ring. Can guy find
- 8:31Speaker 1: the time? I don't know, it's insane. I don't know.
- 8:34Speaker 1: He might. He must have a lot of shit, Like
- 8:36Speaker 1: you know, the Rock feels like a big brain thinker,
- 8:39Speaker 1: Like the minute he came back into the WW. And
- 8:42Speaker 1: by the way, we talk about the ratio world, the
- 8:45Speaker 1: troll world and everything else. The WW as far as
- 8:47Speaker 1: on show, social hated the fact that The Rock came
- 8:50Speaker 1: in and jumped ahead of like Cody Rhodes. I believe
- 8:53Speaker 1: like ultimately everyan's everything that would get posted. Somebody would
- 8:57Speaker 1: be like, you know, Ratio Cody Roads or something like that,
- 9:00Speaker 1: and it would like outdo it like people wanted. Cody
- 9:02Speaker 1: Rose is like it's bullshit that the Rock just gets
- 9:04Speaker 1: to come in. And then within days of the Rock
- 9:08Speaker 1: entering back into the ring, you see on his Instagram, Uh,
- 9:12Speaker 1: he's got another line dropping with the under armour. So
- 9:15Speaker 1: there's a lot of calculated there's a lot of calculated
- 9:19Speaker 1: moves from the boy, which again seeing him back in
- 9:21Speaker 1: the ring and doing the wrestling stuff and I'll, hey,
- 9:23Speaker 1: shut up best so I'll slept the herpe's out of
- 9:25Speaker 1: your mouth, like that's the Rock, and if that's the Rock,
- 9:30Speaker 1: that's what you want.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Yes, dude, this this Cody guy. I don't want to
- 9:34Speaker 2: put you on blast because I know you even followed
- 9:35Speaker 2: it so much, but I see this guy like one
- 9:37Speaker 2: of the good guys, one of the bad guys. He's
- 9:38Speaker 2: obviously a fan favorite.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I believe he's just like a big fan favorite,
- 9:41Speaker 1: like from what again, like me just seeing it on
- 9:45Speaker 1: the surface level and be like, oh shit, the rocks
- 9:46Speaker 1: back saying you get like goosebumps and shit like oh damn.
- 9:49Speaker 1: And then you see the wrestling rule actually hates it.
- 9:52Speaker 1: But then it's also such a good thing because that's
- 9:54Speaker 1: when you get to be a heel. That's when you
- 9:56Speaker 1: get to be the villain and lean into it and
- 9:58Speaker 1: piss everybody off. And I just feel like he's bringing
- 10:00Speaker 1: in all the older generations back into the fold to
- 10:02Speaker 1: kind of see what's kind of see what's happening. But
- 10:04Speaker 1: it seemed like Cody Roase has been such a fan favorite,
- 10:07Speaker 1: a guy that's it's you know, I don't want to
- 10:10Speaker 1: talk out of turn, but it seems like loyal to
- 10:12Speaker 1: the soil, with the with the brain of w put
- 10:14Speaker 1: in a shitload of work and put in his time
- 10:17Speaker 1: to get kind of the moment he was gonna have
- 10:19Speaker 1: it either Royal Rumble or WrestleMania, and then the Rock
- 10:22Speaker 1: comes in and just slaps the taste out of him
- 10:24Speaker 1: and ends up tucking him, like you said, ends up
- 10:25Speaker 1: cooking him. God damn, but it gets It's awesome.
- 10:28Speaker 2: It is cool as you get older and you don't
- 10:30Speaker 2: just like follow because a lot of us just follow
- 10:32Speaker 2: the storyline of what we want to see, like we
- 10:34Speaker 2: want to watch wd If you're a WDE fan, you're
- 10:36Speaker 2: watching that storyline and you us, we've zoomed out kind
- 10:42Speaker 2: of bump rub elbows with certain individuals that are of
- 10:44Speaker 2: high power, that have a lot of money that kind
- 10:47Speaker 2: of from a business standpoint, handle themselves. And for you
- 10:49Speaker 2: to go and notice the Rock is now in there.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Now he's dropping a line and what's gonna happen here?
- 10:53Speaker 2: And it's an interesting thing because Rock talking about slapping
- 10:56Speaker 2: the herbie out of people's mouth, like becoming the bad guy,
- 10:59Speaker 2: the heel as you say, it's such a it's such
- 11:01Speaker 2: a cool parallel to his like movie stardom, because he's
- 11:05Speaker 2: never really the villain in his movies. In his roles,
- 11:08Speaker 2: he's always like.
- 11:09Speaker 1: The superhero on Instagram.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yeah, great guy, the mana is always super high. And
- 11:14Speaker 2: now he gets to go in and truly play play
- 11:16Speaker 2: a character, which.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Is what he grew up in that business doing. In
- 11:19Speaker 1: the first his whole family was in the business, right yeah,
- 11:22Speaker 1: Rocky my Villa, that was his dad, that was his
- 11:24Speaker 1: old man.
- 11:24Speaker 2: You're getting to that generation, like you need to be
- 11:26Speaker 2: ten years older right now, because I feel like you
- 11:28Speaker 2: need to be the dude that like followed for a
- 11:29Speaker 2: long time, Like these fucking these guys aren't as tough
- 11:31Speaker 2: as they used to be. They're a bunch of pussies.
- 11:33Speaker 2: And the rock comes back and like bring bring you
- 11:35Speaker 2: back in the fold big time. I can see Bill
- 11:38Speaker 2: getting a text from you being like, hey, the Rock's
- 11:40Speaker 2: on Royal Robo right now. He's look like, I can't
- 11:43Speaker 2: find this remote. You know, he's fucking looking for it,
- 11:44Speaker 2: and he's like starts bipping it over there. Yeah, that's
- 11:47Speaker 2: the kind of shit I love.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's magical in his style too. He's got
- 11:52Speaker 1: that I don't know what the hell it is, but
- 11:53Speaker 1: he's got on the diamond necklace. He's like, it's just hell, yeah,
- 11:57Speaker 1: the rock being the rock I know.
- 11:59Speaker 2: And he'll go back to my whow twelve am?
- 12:00Speaker 1: Workout? What are we doing?
- 12:02Speaker 2: I'm up before everybody. I've worked out twice before everybody.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Else has woke up. It's like, okay, dude, and all
- 12:06Speaker 1: of a sudden, he's having a fucking day. He's got
- 12:08Speaker 1: like thirty pancakes sitting.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Brother, there ain't no way you're eating all them damn pancakes,
- 12:12Speaker 2: no way, and those cookies look fire every single time.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Yeah, there was one he had, dude.
- 12:16Speaker 2: It was like a sushi platter, and he showed that
- 12:19Speaker 2: as one of his fucking days, and it looked I
- 12:22Speaker 2: would have fucked up all that sushi. It was really like,
- 12:24Speaker 2: it really looked like that.
- 12:26Speaker 1: He's got some French toast too. He calls it like
- 12:28Speaker 1: the Rock toast. They're like this stick, dude, They're like
- 12:30Speaker 1: this stick. I wonder you're trying to get for the
- 12:34Speaker 1: carb king over here, Mitch.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Dude.
- 12:35Speaker 2: We literally go to breakfast at the Red Rock. I
- 12:37Speaker 2: don't know, you guys have probably broke down a whole
- 12:39Speaker 2: bunch of what happened in the last nine ten days
- 12:41Speaker 2: or whatever. But breakfast, man, the first day you got
- 12:44Speaker 2: there on Wednesday, my boy had waffles. It looked like
- 12:46Speaker 2: he had pancakes as well. I know there was biscuits
- 12:48Speaker 2: and gravy just hanging out by you. He's got a
- 12:50Speaker 2: mouthful going.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Like he was trying to feed. He doesn't eat when
- 12:53Speaker 1: he's at home. He's like he like skips eating. He
- 12:56Speaker 1: gets too lazy to go to the pantry, go to
- 12:59Speaker 1: the fridge, like man the grocery store like I do.
- 13:01Speaker 1: He just doesn't. Yeah, he just doesn't eat. He eats
- 13:04Speaker 1: what is it, rich crackers with peanut butter and jelly.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Yeah, there's been multiple occasions, probably at least once a
- 13:10Speaker 5: week or once every other week.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I'll have for dinner.
- 13:12Speaker 5: It'll just be ritz crackers and I'll put little peanut butter,
- 13:14Speaker 5: little jelly, make little peanut butter jey sand which is
- 13:16Speaker 5: on him.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Hey, that is some like elementary school.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Both my parents are at workshit.
- 13:23Speaker 5: I actually learned it from my dad. I learned it
- 13:27Speaker 5: from my dad and he's the one that that put
- 13:29Speaker 5: me onto it. And it's very very good.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Shout out your dad, dude, Shout out Dan. Shout out Dan.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Didn't teach you how to look up questions? But do
- 13:37Speaker 2: you cracker peanut butter and jellies?
- 13:39Speaker 1: Hey, you're the grocery shopping I texted Jack Solo and
- 13:42Speaker 1: I said, I'm gonna I said, I'm not. I'm not
- 13:44Speaker 1: gonna lie. I don't know what's real and what's a bit,
- 13:46Speaker 1: because every time you post on it seem like it's
- 13:50Speaker 1: truly something you sniped on the internet.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I know, hopefully this is a reference being thrown up
- 13:54Speaker 2: on the YouTube if you're watched right now. Every time
- 13:56Speaker 2: I post about going at the grocery store, which every
- 13:58Speaker 2: time you've seen me post with the glay store all
- 14:00Speaker 2: the times about the grocery store, like so three times
- 14:02Speaker 2: in the last two and a half months or whatever years. Yeah, whatever,
- 14:05Speaker 2: And uh every time I knew, literally, Jack, this this
- 14:09Speaker 2: is my thought process walking and I was like, okay, pictures.
- 14:12Speaker 2: He always gets me with the Google. This time I
- 14:14Speaker 2: make a video. Now he can't do nothing about it.
- 14:16Speaker 2: And you threw the TikTok up with this screen recording everything.
- 14:20Speaker 6: It was just this is the first search.
- 14:21Speaker 7: You gotta you gotta go deeper if you're gonna use
- 14:23Speaker 7: this grocery up.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Don't do that, bro, Indeed, I get it.
- 14:26Speaker 6: You don't do that with your audience. A bunch of
- 14:28Speaker 6: blue collar guys.
- 14:29Speaker 2: We are We are a bunch of blue collar guys,
- 14:31Speaker 2: but a bunch of blue collar guys that do lucy.
- 14:33Speaker 2: That's what we do because we fight. I listen, man,
- 14:36Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I don't go to the grocery store a
- 14:37Speaker 2: whole lot. But Taylor, ever since her grandmother passed away
- 14:39Speaker 2: in October, every Sunday she does meatballs, pasta.
- 14:43Speaker 1: She makes me a nice little steak. Kid.
- 14:44Speaker 2: We have a good little time.
- 14:46Speaker 1: And last night we had a cruise over there.
- 14:47Speaker 2: The whole food.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Dude, I don't think that. Uh. I saw the what
- 14:51Speaker 1: is it? What was it? Mozrella, parmesan in there and
- 14:53Speaker 1: then some seasonings, some some of the plants make some
- 14:55Speaker 1: Basil said the Tai Poly posted it. No, I was
- 14:58Speaker 1: trying to make I was trying to make out what
- 14:59Speaker 1: was in the video.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it was just cheese.
- 15:01Speaker 1: And he tried getting you and he was kind of wrong.
- 15:04Speaker 1: He just said, like the movie. He said that move
- 15:08Speaker 1: you would have got a cart instead of a full
- 15:10Speaker 1: size grocery cart, which that is not that's a little happen.
- 15:13Speaker 2: That's a little boy.
- 15:14Speaker 1: That's the I still want to push. I don't want
- 15:16Speaker 1: to hold something in my hand the whole time.
- 15:17Speaker 2: That's exactly what that is.
- 15:19Speaker 7: Like we got some arugula, tomatoes and umarella.
- 15:23Speaker 6: A bunch of rich people. Ship. Really it's not kombucha.
- 15:25Speaker 1: That's so Maddy's a broker fu so like bottles of water.
- 15:38Speaker 1: It's like, look at this rich people's the.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Thing, dude, the thing that the grocery store pisses me off.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Is when you walk into the Whole Foods in that
- 15:44Speaker 2: Green Hills is there's always so many bouquets of flowers.
- 15:47Speaker 2: And I can't stand because every time I walk in there,
- 15:50Speaker 2: my kids want some, Tailing wants some, and the I'm
- 15:52Speaker 2: walking away with six six boqets of flowers. Such a
- 15:54Speaker 2: waste of money, Such a waste of money. And I
- 15:56Speaker 2: can't say no, yea.
- 15:57Speaker 1: But for the moment, for the smile, Fuck the smile.
- 16:01Speaker 2: I don't want that, dude, I don't want it.
- 16:03Speaker 1: One worthy.
- 16:06Speaker 2: No, No, they're not, dude. Hopefully I can get him
- 16:08Speaker 2: to laugh once for five.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Should we you brought it up blue collar guys, Lucy?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Should we talk about Lucy like we've hit a nice little,
- 16:16Speaker 1: nice little partnership with Lucy. Yeah, I think it's big news.
- 16:19Speaker 1: And shout out to you for your uh, your nicotine habit.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yeah, shout out to addictions if.
- 16:24Speaker 1: You're a shout out to your nicotine addiction. Dude. Is
- 16:26Speaker 1: landing as a partnership of loosey.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Yeah, And everybody knows what I used to used to
- 16:29Speaker 2: put on my upper lip and I I truly loved
- 16:32Speaker 2: that brand I was I was about I think the
- 16:33Speaker 2: flavor was fantastic. I love the pouch everything like that,
- 16:36Speaker 2: and so I do have to give it flowers. I'm
- 16:37Speaker 2: not gonna say it's name because I'm being respectful to
- 16:39Speaker 2: my new girl now. But it was a great relationship.
- 16:42Speaker 2: And once I'm starting to find out that the Nicotines,
- 16:45Speaker 2: you know, they they own like eighty percent of the
- 16:47Speaker 2: sales of all nicotine brands, It's starting not to sit
- 16:50Speaker 2: well with me being on a bus, being a blue
- 16:52Speaker 2: collar cat, a grinder, sitting with that being like, why
- 16:55Speaker 2: would I want to be with the top dog when
- 16:56Speaker 2: I can go find something just as good that maybe
- 16:59Speaker 2: people don't know about so much American math. I don't
- 17:02Speaker 2: think they're I can't look that out. I think they're
- 17:05Speaker 2: in Sweden as well. But Sweden may, dude, where probaly
- 17:08Speaker 2: your offshore bank account is. So there's something there, there's
- 17:10Speaker 2: something aligning you there, And yeah, dude, I just I
- 17:14Speaker 2: went down the hunt. I tried on, I tried rogue,
- 17:17Speaker 2: I tried a whole bunch of different ones. And the
- 17:19Speaker 2: thing that set me off with Lucy was the pouch
- 17:22Speaker 2: is bigger than my last girl. And at first I
- 17:24Speaker 2: didn't know how I feel about that. But you put
- 17:26Speaker 2: it in there and you feel like a real man
- 17:28Speaker 2: with it, like a dip, like you have a real dip.
- 17:30Speaker 2: You put it in the lower lip, it feels real good.
- 17:32Speaker 2: So for me, it was like, okay, I can I
- 17:34Speaker 2: I'll coast on on that. It's different, but I'm a
- 17:36Speaker 2: little scared because it's different, but i'mnna keep moving with it.
- 17:39Speaker 2: The next thing was like the pouch, Like how dense?
- 17:41Speaker 2: How like how much? How rough and tumble can I
- 17:42Speaker 2: be on this pouch? Can I move it around my
- 17:44Speaker 2: lip and not have it burst and then have like
- 17:47Speaker 2: little flakes of nicotine just flying around? Good in the
- 17:49Speaker 2: moment if you can handle it. Hell of a buzz
- 17:50Speaker 2: if you can handle it, But not what you want
- 17:53Speaker 2: on a day to day basis if you're getting your
- 17:54Speaker 2: lip raw on a nicotine pouch. So as I started
- 17:58Speaker 2: working through these things, man, I found loose and I've
- 18:00Speaker 2: really enjoyed the breakers. I've really enjoyed how you could
- 18:03Speaker 2: take one, you crack one, and it's just a flood
- 18:06Speaker 2: of flavor. Because for me, a guy like me who
- 18:08Speaker 2: has nicotine in his mouth, whether he unless he's sleeping
- 18:11Speaker 2: or eating, it's literally in there I like to have.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I hate that five ten minutes where you put one
- 18:16Speaker 2: in and it's like, yeah, come on, flavor, let's go.
- 18:18Speaker 1: What are we doing here? What are we doing? Come on?
- 18:20Speaker 2: Get back to me? And with the with the Breakers,
- 18:22Speaker 2: it's like being right there.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Maybe we should just.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Have one right now?
- 18:25Speaker 1: You want one? Brother?
- 18:28Speaker 2: Oh, he's on it. My dreams are fucking coming true.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Espresso, So no, I'm with you, like uh. I started
- 18:37Speaker 1: doing it when we were on the road. It was
- 18:38Speaker 1: always like, hey, travel, like if it was Thursdays in
- 18:40Speaker 1: Chicago or whenever we do a fall tour, like throw
- 18:43Speaker 1: the we won't say the names we want to the
- 18:45Speaker 1: name no for a shout out, but get moving into
- 18:48Speaker 1: h Lucy's. And then hearing about the Breakers, Like I
- 18:50Speaker 1: thought the Breakers thing was like just like a hard
- 18:51Speaker 1: candy or something like that. I didn't know it was
- 18:53Speaker 1: like inside of a pouch. So they shift us a
- 18:56Speaker 1: bunch and I see espresso, and your boy, you know
- 18:59Speaker 1: how love lattes. You know I love coffee. You know
- 19:01Speaker 1: I'm addicted to I was telling Mitch about it last week, like, bro,
- 19:05Speaker 1: these espresso pouches, these are the four milligram because they
- 19:09Speaker 1: got a lot of different levels of military.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Feel and even numbers two, four, six, eight, ten, twelve,
- 19:13Speaker 2: they all twelve. That's for the men.
- 19:15Speaker 1: That's the men. That's not the same.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Ye, the fours are a perfect number.
- 19:20Speaker 1: And you were getting you were getting me on him.
- 19:21Speaker 1: And then that viral clip of Huberman was going around
- 19:23Speaker 1: on the benefits of nicotine, and I basically do anything
- 19:26Speaker 1: that Huberman says, like follow blindly. It's the only way
- 19:30Speaker 1: to live. Yeah, yeah, Like, oh, who put you on
- 19:31Speaker 1: that Huberman? Like, look, I grew up in the Huberman world,
- 19:34Speaker 1: Like I will just listen to him whatever he says.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I'm taking it as faceback. And it's great too.
- 19:38Speaker 2: When you're trying to get people information and they're like,
- 19:40Speaker 2: would you get that, and you say Huberman, they just
- 19:41Speaker 2: go okay, yeah, right, absolutely right, automatically agree with you.
- 19:45Speaker 2: There's no argument to me.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Yeh. There is a culture with Huberman right now. Yeah,
- 19:48Speaker 1: but I wrote down the benefits of nicotine coming from
- 19:50Speaker 1: Huberman's mouth, that got me more and more. On top
- 19:53Speaker 1: of this stuff neuroprotecting, suppress his appetite, don't need it,
- 19:57Speaker 1: increase his metabolism. Let's go improve focus, attention, and mood.
- 20:02Speaker 1: It relaxes your skeletal muscle, which, again, go listen to
- 20:04Speaker 1: human Man. I won't go too much farther beyond that.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I just got it. I just jotted that note down
- 20:08Speaker 1: that it relaxes your skeletal muscle and then it increases
- 20:11Speaker 1: motivation and decreases negative emotions.
- 20:15Speaker 2: So is this the answer for depression? Not for us
- 20:18Speaker 2: to say, probably not.
- 20:20Speaker 1: There there are studies of like an anti of using
- 20:24Speaker 1: it as like an antidepressant. But yeah, listen to this
- 20:26Speaker 1: podcast where we are brain dead people on this. Yeah
- 20:30Speaker 1: we are not smart. Go listen to We're not Doctors. Yeah,
- 20:32Speaker 1: go listen to the Hubreman podcast. But these are espresso ones.
- 20:36Speaker 1: I shit, you not here it is. You can see
- 20:38Speaker 1: the little breaker inside. You can zoom in on that
- 20:41Speaker 1: minch our little breaker inside. And truly it is like
- 20:46Speaker 1: putting it is like putting a latte in your mouth,
- 20:49Speaker 1: like a little victory lot in your mouth. So waking
- 20:52Speaker 1: up this morning and coming over to do the intro,
- 20:54Speaker 1: I'm so excited to go to go to my spot
- 20:57Speaker 1: eighth and Rose get give me an almond milk ice.
- 21:00Speaker 1: They splashed vanilla to pair it with the espresso pouch
- 21:04Speaker 1: and broke my mouth water and coffee.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Yeah you're salivating.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, cheers.
- 21:10Speaker 2: So I'm gonna I'll bite down on this breaker so
- 21:12Speaker 2: you can hear it. So you just use little things
- 21:13Speaker 2: your teeth and.
- 21:20Speaker 1: And then it's just like a it's an orgasm in
- 21:22Speaker 1: your mouth.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Think of a gusher, but with more juice.
- 21:24Speaker 1: And this espresso mixed with an ice latte.
- 21:28Speaker 2: See, I'm a tropical cat. Did I like my exs?
- 21:32Speaker 2: Like my fruits and so?
- 21:33Speaker 1: Which I was into? You had me into the fruit
- 21:35Speaker 1: loop taste of one again. Won't say any names. I
- 21:36Speaker 1: love that one. But then right here, yeah, it is
- 21:41Speaker 1: the baby. Literally.
- 21:42Speaker 2: When I was talking to whoever after we decided we're
- 21:45Speaker 2: gonna go with Lucy, and Lucy came to us after
- 21:46Speaker 2: and said, hey, it was a great choice. We'd love
- 21:48Speaker 2: to sponsor you. They they said, hey, what kind of
- 21:51Speaker 2: flavors do you want? I had them with They have
- 21:53Speaker 2: apple berry or apple frost.
- 21:55Speaker 1: They got apple ice.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Would you just put it? Would you just put in?
- 22:04Speaker 1: Jack?
- 22:04Speaker 7: Oh, Lucy, Okay, let's see.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Then throw you off the phones.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Let me see the can Jack.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Who'll get you replaced?
- 22:12Speaker 6: What's these flavors?
- 22:16Speaker 2: Is the one that I have in by lip right
- 22:17Speaker 2: now because I enjoyed, uh the citrus flavor of the
- 22:20Speaker 2: other ones. But they breakers they coming on and they
- 22:22Speaker 2: asked me, oh, what flavors do you want? I said,
- 22:24Speaker 2: four milligrams, don't send us eight, don't send us ten.
- 22:26Speaker 2: It's too much of their like, hey, they're coming, They're coming.
- 22:28Speaker 2: I'm not safe feeling, at least for me, a lot
- 22:30Speaker 2: of people saying hard yeah, like you love, yeah, you love,
- 22:34Speaker 2: like talking to God.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Yeah. I want the Rower Coast like I want to feel.
- 22:37Speaker 1: So I want to be shaking a little bit and
- 22:39Speaker 1: be like, right, you say something to me, and I'm
- 22:40Speaker 1: kind of like, I don't know what's going on.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Will Compton, although you've already heard, is a big caffeine guy,
- 22:46Speaker 2: one cold brew coffee and pitts, shaky, jittery, and it's
- 22:52Speaker 2: not like he learns his less than ever. He just
- 22:54Speaker 2: keeps coming back from more and more. So we got
- 22:57Speaker 2: the fourst We're big four guys. I'm a mango guy.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I do love the espresso. I do love the espresso.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Issue for me though, with the espresso is mentally I
- 23:09Speaker 2: think to myself, coffee coffee stains your teeth. If I
- 23:11Speaker 2: just have an espresso flavored things in here might just
- 23:13Speaker 2: staining my teeth the whole time.
- 23:15Speaker 1: That's my one little that's a real good you know
- 23:17Speaker 1: I heard that just start fucking puky and ship. So yeah,
- 23:25Speaker 1: might as well just go ahead and throw Do we
- 23:26Speaker 1: have a Lucy ad read we don't have. That's fucking crazy.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Go check out the boys, Lucy, Yeah, go check them
- 23:33Speaker 1: out the online.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Everything's going online now, like you really can't find them
- 23:37Speaker 2: in stores. I don't think I go to a gas
- 23:39Speaker 2: station that All the other brands we won't talk about,
- 23:41Speaker 2: but Lucy let him online, get him in bulk, fantastic dude,
- 23:45Speaker 2: should we? Obviously, the football season's over and we had
- 23:49Speaker 2: a great time. I know you guys talked about a
- 23:50Speaker 2: little bit. Probably that's done. The good, the bad, the ugly,
- 23:54Speaker 2: those fun segments will probably put those on the shelf
- 23:56Speaker 2: for just a minute. Let's bring them back a shout
- 24:00Speaker 2: enough shoutout, even though we've done it, even though we
- 24:02Speaker 2: haven't given it the official but.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Yeah, you're you're right, we need it. It needs to officially
- 24:06Speaker 1: have its moment back in our hearts. We just gave
- 24:09Speaker 1: a really good shout out, no free shout out, even
- 24:11Speaker 1: though we don't have an average Lucy. But yeah, I
- 24:13Speaker 1: would love to bring the shoutout no free shoutout back Mitch,
- 24:15Speaker 1: go ahead, go ahead, match takeing notes of what he's
- 24:22Speaker 1: producing the fuck out of it.
- 24:24Speaker 2: But yeah, that's a good idea, all right.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it's bag my shadow no forree shot out goes.
- 24:30Speaker 5: This week, I had one of my buddies from from
- 24:33Speaker 5: home coming to town and like when you first see
- 24:37Speaker 5: like one of your boys you haven't seen in a
- 24:38Speaker 5: long time, and you just dap them up and you
- 24:40Speaker 5: just give them a good, just a good old hug.
- 24:43Speaker 5: That my shadow no for your shadow goes to giving
- 24:45Speaker 5: your boys hugs. There's something about like, yeah, you can
- 24:48Speaker 5: dap them up, you can just like little handshake whatever,
- 24:51Speaker 5: but like when you when you lock it in for
- 24:53Speaker 5: a hug and just like it's real quick, like rather
- 24:55Speaker 5: it's a longer one shorter one. Just give your boys
- 24:58Speaker 5: some more hugs because it sometimes you just need it.
- 25:01Speaker 5: Maybe that other person will need it as well, but
- 25:03Speaker 5: it's just a little feel good moment with you and
- 25:06Speaker 5: your boy, So shut out hugs.
- 25:08Speaker 1: That's wholesome. Yeah, I saw something too, like I'm sure
- 25:11Speaker 1: you get it as well. Like my algorithm has a
- 25:13Speaker 1: lot of these you know, gooey stuff things now that
- 25:16Speaker 1: pop up in front of my face. And one was
- 25:17Speaker 1: about hugs, like big hug guy, Twelve hugs a day
- 25:22Speaker 1: leads to growth. Eight hugs is what you need for maintenance.
- 25:25Speaker 1: And if you have anything less, like you're deterring yourself
- 25:28Speaker 1: from happiness. But twelve is the number. And also not
- 25:31Speaker 1: only that, but your technique. You want to go left
- 25:34Speaker 1: arm up, right arm below. What the hell is that? Yeah,
- 25:38Speaker 1: left arm up right on below because your heart to
- 25:41Speaker 1: heart with the person you're hugging. Oh, hubreman, that's not human,
- 25:46Speaker 1: that's that's just Instagram algorithm. Instagram algorithm is good. Yeah.
- 25:51Speaker 1: And also another one I saw. If you hold a
- 25:53Speaker 1: hug for eight seconds, that's where you release like the dopamine,
- 25:56Speaker 1: the good hormones, the good things going on where you
- 25:59Speaker 1: get the side of the hug. So hug, hug often,
- 26:02Speaker 1: hug hard, hug long.
- 26:04Speaker 2: It sounds like we're getting ourselves an anti depression protocol
- 26:08Speaker 2: going on here with the lucy and the hugs. Yeah,
- 26:10Speaker 2: can't wait to see what else happens on the show. Yeah, Jackie,
- 26:13Speaker 2: what do you have baby?
- 26:14Speaker 7: I don't know if this is going to translate for
- 26:16Speaker 7: you all, and I hope it does. But I was
- 26:18Speaker 7: just in Tahoes past weekend up snowboarding.
- 26:21Speaker 6: We went there.
- 26:21Speaker 7: The weather is supposed to be completely clear all week,
- 26:23Speaker 7: so that kind of like bums you out. When you
- 26:25Speaker 7: go on a ski trip, You're like, you want to
- 26:26Speaker 7: get like a good snow And then the day we
- 26:29Speaker 7: get there, all of a sudden, we get a weather
- 26:30Speaker 7: alert advisory and there's a winter storm that just out
- 26:32Speaker 7: of nowhere popped up first day.
- 26:35Speaker 6: And so the first day we get there, we don't ski.
- 26:37Speaker 7: We get settled in, wake up the next morning and
- 26:39Speaker 7: there was like fourteen inches of fresh snow on the
- 26:41Speaker 7: top of the mountain. So my shadow goes to I
- 26:44Speaker 7: guess Mother Nature and providing beautiful snow. But getting snow
- 26:48Speaker 7: on that first day of ski trip is something special.
- 26:51Speaker 7: It provides a little bit more of a cushion. You
- 26:53Speaker 7: can kind of go a little bit harder out there.
- 26:55Speaker 7: It does make it more like taxing on your legs
- 26:58Speaker 7: because you're having so much more resis since but you're
- 27:01Speaker 7: able to go a little bit further, You're able to
- 27:03Speaker 7: send that jump a little bit harder. So shout out
- 27:06Speaker 7: to fresh no on the beginning with snow trip or
- 27:08Speaker 7: ski trip.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Yeah, shout out mother nature.
- 27:10Speaker 2: You jump, Yeah, you go hard like that.
- 27:13Speaker 7: Yeah, we like to go hard, you know, Like I said,
- 27:15Speaker 7: when when there's fresh no, you have a little bit
- 27:17Speaker 7: more in your bag, You're like, you're a little bit
- 27:19Speaker 7: less worried about breaking something or tearing something because you're
- 27:23Speaker 7: just falling in powder. So yeah, we like to get
- 27:26Speaker 7: out there, have a good time. You have a couple
- 27:28Speaker 7: of beers and you're like, all right, I'm gonna I'll
- 27:30Speaker 7: hit that trick then.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Now.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I had a buddy in high school. His name is
- 27:34Speaker 2: Zach Barer. Shout out Zack Barer. Saw him this weekend
- 27:36Speaker 2: in Arizona. He would always go to like Big Bear
- 27:40Speaker 2: or Durango or Flagstaff and go skiing every winter, and
- 27:44Speaker 2: every time he came back he would have a separated shoulder,
- 27:47Speaker 2: broken wrist.
- 27:48Speaker 1: He literally guy had paper boats.
- 27:50Speaker 2: He's a surgeon now, but like all his injuries like
- 27:53Speaker 2: got him into the idea of becoming a surgeon. When
- 27:56Speaker 2: I saw you skiing, that's what I I was like, Oh,
- 27:58Speaker 2: people go skiing, We're gonna get You're just paying me
- 28:00Speaker 2: to get hurt, and I'm happy to see you back
- 28:02Speaker 2: here on your two feet.
- 28:03Speaker 6: Yeah, that we were talking about yesterday. Coming back. We're
- 28:06Speaker 6: just like, no injuries.
- 28:07Speaker 7: That's just the biggest win you can because when I'm
- 28:09Speaker 7: twenty nine, it's like if you separate your shoulder or
- 28:12Speaker 7: like hurt your knee, it's like at what costs, like
- 28:16Speaker 7: just to like you know, impress one of your friends
- 28:18Speaker 7: on like a ski slope and no one ever.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Saw black diamonds, Yeah exactly.
- 28:22Speaker 6: But it's always fun.
- 28:23Speaker 7: And with those flag staff places, they don't typically get
- 28:27Speaker 7: like a lot of snow, so it's usually like groomers,
- 28:30Speaker 7: which means just like really packed down hard snow, so
- 28:32Speaker 7: it's a lot easier to get hurt.
- 28:34Speaker 6: So when you do get.
- 28:35Speaker 7: Those like twelve to fifteen inches of fresh snow, it
- 28:38Speaker 7: really prevents any kind of like heard sustaining injury. Like
- 28:41Speaker 7: you can still get hurt obviously anytime, but it definitely
- 28:44Speaker 7: helps out the cause of feeling a little bit more
- 28:47Speaker 7: confident out there.
- 28:48Speaker 6: So definitely shot up mother nature.
- 28:51Speaker 1: I didn't even know you could get twelve to fifteen
- 28:52Speaker 1: inches anywhere.
- 28:53Speaker 6: Thirty three inches in one night in uh, Colorado.
- 28:56Speaker 1: You never got just twelve inches when you're in Michigan.
- 29:00Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 29:00Speaker 2: I think the only place I ever think that would
- 29:02Speaker 2: happen is Buffalo, New York because every year, in like December,
- 29:05Speaker 2: the bills have like a hell of a deal going on.
- 29:07Speaker 2: But I literally I think myself, like a whole foot
- 29:09Speaker 2: of snow foot plus sounds horrible to me, it's awesome. Yeah,
- 29:15Speaker 2: you know me and snow brother, Yeah, get along. Vans
- 29:18Speaker 2: do not do well in snow. I'll tell you that
- 29:20Speaker 2: what you got will for your shout.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Every Imause I forgot mine.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Okay, I'll go.
- 29:24Speaker 1: I had one over the weekend. I was like, I
- 29:25Speaker 1: need to write this down, and you to write this down.
- 29:26Speaker 1: That's always the thing, Like this one's so solid that
- 29:29Speaker 1: I will not forget here. I am later. That's ill try.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I try to think. That's tough.
- 29:36Speaker 2: You need to be prepared for the show that we
- 29:38Speaker 2: have every week. But I'll go and this I've said
- 29:42Speaker 2: this one before, but I happened to meet this weekend,
- 29:46Speaker 2: and uh, I just want to bring it back up again.
- 29:48Speaker 1: So this weekend I had to go to Arizona.
- 29:51Speaker 2: One of my buddies, his father passed away very suddenly.
- 29:54Speaker 1: We had to go to a funeral. It was very
- 29:56Speaker 1: it was weird. It was a weird weekend.
- 29:57Speaker 2: It was tough, but pausive on the way. Let's talk
- 30:00Speaker 2: about positives here. We're keeping the vibes high. Taylan puts
- 30:03Speaker 2: on a song for me that immediately hits the cerebellum
- 30:06Speaker 2: and I go, oh, fuck, yes, I'm going to run
- 30:10Speaker 2: this song into the dirt and I'm gonna know every
- 30:12Speaker 2: single lyric in a week's time. Not a week yet,
- 30:15Speaker 2: but we know about half of them now. That song
- 30:19Speaker 2: is by Benson Boone and the end of the song
- 30:22Speaker 2: is called Beautiful Things.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Have you heard it? Yeah? Please stay dude.
- 30:28Speaker 2: That shit came on and I'm thinking in my head
- 30:30Speaker 2: because we were actually had this conversation when we were
- 30:32Speaker 2: doing a drop off right before Super Bowl about like,
- 30:35Speaker 2: when you listen to a song, you listen to beats,
- 30:37Speaker 2: a beat or a lyric first, and I'm always listening to.
- 30:39Speaker 1: The lyrics first.
- 30:40Speaker 2: The guy talking about how his life was tough, then
- 30:43Speaker 2: his life is good, and now all he's worried about
- 30:45Speaker 2: is when the good things are going to end. You
- 30:48Speaker 2: can feel the anxiety in the song as it leads
- 30:50Speaker 2: to this beautiful like scream not screaming, but like a yelling,
- 30:54Speaker 2: singing type of like passion that gets you.
- 30:57Speaker 1: To go, I got goosebumpster.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Now let me roll through the windows down and get
- 31:00Speaker 2: these goosebumps off my body like that type of feeling. Yeah,
- 31:03Speaker 2: So my shout out, no free shout is gonna go
- 31:05Speaker 2: to uh finding a new song. And I've done it.
- 31:08Speaker 2: That's probably the third time I've done that in the show,
- 31:10Speaker 2: but it was.
- 31:11Speaker 1: We've been We've been around for some for some time.
- 31:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna repeat. I'm pretty sure bro bro Huggs has
- 31:15Speaker 1: been in there.
- 31:16Speaker 6: Like also never gets old.
- 31:17Speaker 2: It doesn't get old. Yeah that's true. Yeah, just like
- 31:21Speaker 2: your shopping carttrol. It literally never gets old.
- 31:23Speaker 1: To me.
- 31:24Speaker 2: I laugh every time I honestly tweet it to get that.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Now that's the only response I ever want.
- 31:30Speaker 1: I remembered. Let's go. I remembered, and people, those of
- 31:34Speaker 1: you that.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Think about, oh, Will's got cts a big dumb idiot boom,
- 31:37Speaker 2: perfect example right now.
- 31:38Speaker 1: You fucking face boys. Shit, it's the Lucy's Yeah, the memory.
- 31:43Speaker 1: So my shoutout, no free shoutout goes to the air tag.
- 31:47Speaker 1: I've started to use them, and I needed it over
- 31:49Speaker 1: the weekend, I couldn't find my keys. I didn't realize
- 31:52Speaker 1: where I placed them, and I threw up to find
- 31:54Speaker 1: my app and have the keys, and then it plays
- 31:56Speaker 1: a little sound for you to find it and shout
- 31:58Speaker 1: out the air tag because we need it. We need it.
- 32:02Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's like this is like a universal
- 32:04Speaker 1: like maybe not in universe. I'm not shitting on all
- 32:07Speaker 1: the men out there, but it seems like a very
- 32:08Speaker 1: male thing to do, where you just we forget the
- 32:11Speaker 1: dumbest shit and our other tells us like, hey, here's
- 32:15Speaker 1: a little here's a little like what am I trying
- 32:17Speaker 1: to say. Here's a little.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Reminder I don't know. Here's the device it helps you remember.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Like the plate. Here's a plate. Yeah.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Yeah, Like if you just if you just got them again.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Yeah, if you just walk in the house and put
- 32:33Speaker 1: your money, clip, your keys and everything in this plate
- 32:36Speaker 1: in the mudroom right when you walk in, you'll know
- 32:38Speaker 1: it's there every time. Yeah. Fortunately, your boy's been very
- 32:42Speaker 1: solid at doing that. For whatever reason, I had misplaced
- 32:45Speaker 1: my keys, didn't where they didn't know where they were,
- 32:47Speaker 1: and I thought to myself, I'm so fired up that
- 32:49Speaker 1: I have an air tag on this thing now because
- 32:50Speaker 1: I almost never put it on. I like several of
- 32:52Speaker 1: them sitting there from Christmas and just again lazy, don't
- 32:56Speaker 1: get around to doing it. Fortunately they were on my keys,
- 32:59Speaker 1: knew where to find them out out the air tag.
- 33:00Speaker 1: That is something I still need to do.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Luckily, my significant other loses her phone fifteen times a day,
- 33:07Speaker 2: to the point where I'm the one going, honey, come on, like,
- 33:10Speaker 2: you've got to be better. You've got to figure it out.
- 33:12Speaker 1: They see it as a badge of honor losing their phone, like, oh,
- 33:14Speaker 1: I'm not on my phone at home.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been on it for so long. I guess
- 33:18Speaker 2: I just missed on the Uh that's what.
- 33:21Speaker 1: That's a big one.
- 33:21Speaker 2: I was up and down the damn stairs yesterday trying
- 33:25Speaker 2: to find my phone. I went upstairs upstairs, we have
- 33:27Speaker 2: like a little attic playroom set up with like a
- 33:29Speaker 2: little jungle gym. We have like a rock climbing thing
- 33:31Speaker 2: for the kid. They love it, dude, a big swinging
- 33:33Speaker 2: there and they're ripping and I get in. There's this
- 33:35Speaker 2: big love sack.
- 33:36Speaker 1: You've been in there. Lay down. I'm on my phone.
- 33:38Speaker 2: I'm surfing the bird and I go downstairs. I have
- 33:40Speaker 2: for grass there. I think it's a water. I go downstairs,
- 33:42Speaker 2: come back up, can't find my phone, Like, did I
- 33:44Speaker 2: bring it downstairs with me? I hunt for fifteen to
- 33:47Speaker 2: twenty minutes, probably ten, but you get what I'm saying.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Finally I go upstairs on my hey win.
- 33:53Speaker 2: You you grab my phone, and this shitting grin covers
- 33:57Speaker 2: her face. Now it's like, where is it?
- 34:00Speaker 1: Dude? Where is it?
- 34:01Speaker 2: I had to fight her. I had to fight my daughter.
- 34:03Speaker 1: You hit her?
- 34:04Speaker 2: No I didn't.
- 34:04Speaker 1: I pushed her heart.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, yes, but anyway, she end up giving up
- 34:12Speaker 2: the phone. Dude, I thought to myself in that ten
- 34:14Speaker 2: minute span of trying to find my phone, like, I
- 34:17Speaker 2: should just put those damn air tags that are literally
- 34:18Speaker 2: sitting in the man.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Cave right now. I know exactly where they are. I
- 34:21Speaker 1: know exactly where they are. The garment. Now the garment
- 34:24Speaker 1: hooks you up. Well, I'll lose my you know, I'll
- 34:26Speaker 1: misplaced my phone every now and then, I think, hang on, dude, no, no,
- 34:39Speaker 1: it does. I just I think I turned my bluetooth
- 34:41Speaker 1: off for a minute. Yeah, yeah, you were getting some
- 34:44Speaker 1: weird jingles in there. You had a weird vibrate on
- 34:46Speaker 1: your phone. Yeah you can. We'll come back to it.
- 34:50Speaker 1: I just gotta I gotta hit the reconnect. Yeah.
- 34:53Speaker 2: And also Garment is not a sponsor at the show,
- 34:54Speaker 2: so yeah, no shout out, noe, shout out to the Garment.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I do love it, well, we will and I we
- 35:02Speaker 2: work at the same gym, and literally I'll peek over
- 35:04Speaker 2: at the boy. Make sure you stand on top of
- 35:06Speaker 2: the stuff, you know, kind of bill buddy ship, and
- 35:08Speaker 2: I'll look over. He'll just be popping some buttons looking and.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Go do his thing.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Immediately gets inble the set does hit it again.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Like, no, you're not even doing anything. You gotta hit
- 35:18Speaker 1: the sets over, hit the stop reading now and my
- 35:21Speaker 1: rest is count You're not doing all the rest anything,
- 35:24Speaker 1: don't He's probably off right now. We sit there and
- 35:26Speaker 1: talk and the minute you walk away, I look up. Fuck,
- 35:28Speaker 1: I've been wrestling.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Because I haven't seen you in a while, so I
- 35:31Speaker 2: want to talk. But at the same time, it's like
- 35:33Speaker 2: I got to get and get out.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Yeah, get it and get off, get out. Yeah that
- 35:36Speaker 1: whole thing.

- 37:42Speaker 2: People were saying, specifically, JP, I saw him say fade.
- 37:46Speaker 2: He's a big dumb idiot because I made myself one
- 37:48Speaker 2: thousand and fifty dollars.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Oo oo beat Vulcan. I forget his name, Tulupu tu.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Lupiya iliad Tuporia. I probably should know that.
- 37:57Speaker 1: What uh what made? What made you pay him? Over? Vulk? Over?
- 38:01Speaker 1: The American made.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Vult Oh, he's not an American man, he's everything's American.
- 38:07Speaker 1: If I'm rocking with it, you want to know the truth,
- 38:10Speaker 1: you want to make something up well from your guy, Vinnie. Yeah, yeah,
- 38:15Speaker 1: Because I saw that. I saw that bet, I'm just
- 38:17Speaker 1: thinking that's crazy.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Just Vulk like that, I know, and I literally he
- 38:21Speaker 2: like said, hey, put this bet in. It's a big bet.
- 38:23Speaker 2: And so I literally went to my Draftking Sports app,
- 38:26Speaker 2: I started DK partner and I put that thing in there.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Money line, the whole thing, a thousand bucks on it
- 38:32Speaker 2: right there?
- 38:33Speaker 1: Did you watch? I fell asleep. We'll get the wake up.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Woke up with the President. It's tough man being out
- 38:40Speaker 2: in the East coast of the UFC. It's not done
- 38:42Speaker 2: to like eleven o'clock.
- 38:43Speaker 7: The West coast is nice, nice that thing like seven
- 38:49Speaker 7: it is.
- 38:49Speaker 1: The best, man, it is the best.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Speaking of West Coast, speaking of Vegas, I know you
- 38:54Speaker 2: guys have talked about it, but when you guys left,
- 38:58Speaker 2: your boy had another opportunity.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Of the m GK.
- 39:01Speaker 2: And it went very well.
- 39:03Speaker 6: Really, it went very well.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Yeah, talk about that because you had mentioned it kind
- 39:06Speaker 1: of right, right, right.
- 39:08Speaker 2: So the the first night was at Power Stop, which,
- 39:10Speaker 2: by the way, Jack, I know we've been in every
- 39:12Speaker 2: single power slop. How epic was this last power stop
- 39:15Speaker 2: at Durango.
- 39:15Speaker 6: It felt different, felt different, a lot of big people there.
- 39:20Speaker 2: It was fun, it was a cool Yeah.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:22Speaker 2: You know how Jack talk though, it's like that is
- 39:23Speaker 2: enthusiasm for him. So yeah, we go to that and
- 39:26Speaker 2: then obviously this guy named Steve and I believe his
- 39:30Speaker 2: name is he's mgk's manager. Also he's partners with Rob
- 39:34Speaker 2: Muchie for those of you who are wondering in the
- 39:35Speaker 2: same agency. He's like, I AMGK is gonna be hearing
- 39:38Speaker 2: a little bit. I was like, hey, man, I love MGK,
- 39:40Speaker 2: I love his music. I think he brought back a
- 39:42Speaker 2: whole entire genre. Blah blah blah. Give my little elevator
- 39:44Speaker 2: pitch on why I'm a fan of MGK. He comes
- 39:46Speaker 2: up to me as I'm actually getting we're getting the
- 39:48Speaker 2: other boys in you guys in and uh, he's walking
- 39:51Speaker 2: up obviously I see him obviously, you and I are
- 39:54Speaker 2: talking and he was.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Talking about Gamba and he's like, I got this thousand, Hey,
- 40:00Speaker 1: we're doing it. We're doing it. Meeting.
- 40:04Speaker 2: But I met MGK and I met people call Himkelse.
- 40:07Speaker 2: I'll call him Kelse for right now. He like threw
- 40:09Speaker 2: his shoulder. He dapped me up and like threw his
- 40:11Speaker 2: shoulder into me. And then when we were talking, he's
- 40:13Speaker 2: kind of looking me up and down. I don't know
- 40:14Speaker 2: if you noticed that. He was kind of like looking
- 40:16Speaker 2: at me, sizing me up a little bit. I'm thinking,
- 40:18Speaker 2: come on then, like we don't want to do this
- 40:21Speaker 2: or was trying to be boys right now. And it
- 40:23Speaker 2: was very quick, very much. It was easy enough for
- 40:25Speaker 2: me to be like, I didn't.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Like that experience. It wasn't a great experience for me
- 40:28Speaker 1: very much. Your yeah, Yah, it was kind of like
- 40:29Speaker 1: one of those guys.
- 40:31Speaker 2: It also to me was like great in us in
- 40:34Speaker 2: one way because tormented artist, that's what he comes off
- 40:38Speaker 2: to be, and to see him like that, I was like, good,
- 40:40Speaker 2: Like his art is going to be so beautiful this
- 40:42Speaker 2: next album. Obviously, I hope he gets help, help, he
- 40:44Speaker 2: figures it all out. So the next day I'm at
- 40:46Speaker 2: UFC after a Saturday with Jelly, and it was great
- 40:49Speaker 2: because it was like, not a whole lot of people
- 40:50Speaker 2: there is at the Apex. It was just me and
- 40:52Speaker 2: Jelly just catching.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Up, hanging out for a couple hours.
- 40:54Speaker 2: And I let him know the same story. I just
- 40:57Speaker 2: told you guys like listen like Jelly and Kell start
- 41:00Speaker 2: like boys. And so he's like telling me he was
- 41:02Speaker 2: probably just wearing something. I know the Sean Strickland video
- 41:05Speaker 2: came out about Sean Strickland calling him a freak and
- 41:08Speaker 2: and and all that.
- 41:09Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure that hat on the bird app on
- 41:11Speaker 1: the bird app.
- 41:12Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure that happened after It's not a big deal.
- 41:15Speaker 2: But I told him. I was like, yeah, man, it
- 41:16Speaker 2: was kind of a disappointing first impression. It just seemed
- 41:19Speaker 2: like the dude was wearing a whole lot and it was.
- 41:20Speaker 2: It was just a tough come by. And so that
- 41:23Speaker 2: night I'm at Red Rocks. Data hits me up and
- 41:26Speaker 2: he's like, hey, what are.
- 41:27Speaker 1: You doing, blah blah blah. I was like, oh, I'm here.
- 41:28Speaker 1: He goes come to Caesar's.
- 41:31Speaker 2: I believe it is. Come to Caesars, to this place
- 41:33Speaker 2: called Pinky Ring. Your knight's gonna change. I'm thinking sick
- 41:37Speaker 2: because we know Caesar is what he he bets there
- 41:39Speaker 2: seventy five thousand dollars a hen.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I'm thinking away game. The new stresses are there. I'm
- 41:43Speaker 1: in the car. I'm driving over. I'm very nervous.
- 41:45Speaker 2: I get a text from this lady named Evelyn, who
- 41:47Speaker 2: is going to bring me into the Pinky Ring. Turns
- 41:49Speaker 2: out Pinky Ring is this very that's right in the
- 41:52Speaker 2: middle of the casino of Caesar's or Blaggio. They both
- 41:55Speaker 2: look very similar. It's like this little arena type of
- 41:59Speaker 2: looking thing, but it's just like a bar, like a
- 42:00Speaker 2: speakeasy kind of bar. And I walk in there and
- 42:02Speaker 2: I see you hear this fucking golden voice. It's like
- 42:05Speaker 2: like literally piercing my ears. And I'm like, oh, my god,
- 42:08Speaker 2: whoever's singing right now is incredible. Turns out that individual
- 42:11Speaker 2: is Bruno Mars. Hit a right, hit a right hand,
- 42:15Speaker 2: start walking. I see Dana, his boy skips there. Hunter's there.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Hunter Now that boy moved them hips he he got.
- 42:23Speaker 1: He was out the dance. My god with Bruno maar
- 42:25Speaker 1: moving those hips like crazy.
- 42:27Speaker 2: So we sit there, we're hanging out, and he's like,
- 42:32Speaker 2: I know he got somebody in the in the audience tonight.
- 42:34Speaker 2: I think it was a baby something, baby face or
- 42:36Speaker 2: baby something.
- 42:37Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 42:39Speaker 2: I don't know he I mean, that's.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Bb King, you're thinking of bb King.
- 42:45Speaker 2: But yeah, he's like, I got somebody in the audience,
- 42:47Speaker 2: blah blah blah. And and then Hunter and Dane are
- 42:49Speaker 2: getting hyped up.
- 42:50Speaker 1: I don't know who this guy is.
- 42:51Speaker 2: He starts singing, hen's the mic to buddy, and the
- 42:53Speaker 2: buddy starts going fucking off, and I'm like, oh my,
- 42:56Speaker 2: And you guys know I'm a big concert guy, but
- 42:57Speaker 2: for me, I'm like enjoying the fuck out at this moment.
- 43:00Speaker 2: And uh, he's saying, some leady comes up. She starts
- 43:03Speaker 2: ripping there like he turns, he says, he turns the
- 43:05Speaker 2: place to a ship club. All of a sudden, he's
- 43:07Speaker 2: playing crazy music and he's like.
- 43:08Speaker 1: Doing his thing.
- 43:09Speaker 2: It was an unbelievable experience. I say that all just
- 43:12Speaker 2: a flex on how cool.
- 43:13Speaker 1: My night was. I was ready for MG to he's
- 43:17Speaker 1: He's coming later, I.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Promise, but I just wanted to pick here in my
- 43:20Speaker 2: face and fucking hey, yeah, my life's awesome. Also, Danny
- 43:24Speaker 2: gets on the phone while we're there and he's like, okay, cool,
- 43:26Speaker 2: and he the phone he goes, hey, uh, jay Z
- 43:29Speaker 2: and Beyonce are gonna come. They're gonna sitt our table
- 43:31Speaker 2: with us. I was like, oh for real. He's like yeah,
- 43:35Speaker 2: so you know, He's like, we'll be here in about
- 43:37Speaker 2: five minutes. They didn't come. But I wanted to tell
- 43:39Speaker 2: you guys that because I wanted you to feel the
- 43:41Speaker 2: piece of excitement. I just felt, right, you guys, get
- 43:43Speaker 2: that that was nice. Hold that in tight, because we're
- 43:45Speaker 2: gonna go to Caesar's now. We finished the concert, we
- 43:47Speaker 2: end up ripping over, getting in the car going over
- 43:50Speaker 2: like a two lane road over to Caesars. We pop
- 43:53Speaker 2: in there. We go to Caesar's into the high Roller room.
- 43:56Speaker 2: They got a similar situation to uh to Red Rock
- 43:59Speaker 2: with the there's a room behind the room, but this
- 44:02Speaker 2: room like double doors open up. Security sitting there with
- 44:05Speaker 2: their earpieces on, like you know, you're the president or
- 44:07Speaker 2: something opens. The door walks down this long hallway with
- 44:10Speaker 2: a bathroom in an emergency exit, and then it opens
- 44:12Speaker 2: up into a room where it's like Baccarat, craps, roulette
- 44:17Speaker 2: and one black jarge table and there's just like five
- 44:19Speaker 2: people just sitting in there like ready to deal you
- 44:21Speaker 2: with whatever game you want, and it's like no one
- 44:24Speaker 2: is allowed in there.
- 44:26Speaker 1: We get in with Dana.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Dana ends up playing bing bang boom, three hands, three dubs,
- 44:30Speaker 2: two hundred thousand dollars for him. Did you I did
- 44:33Speaker 2: not enter the seventy five. They asked if the guy,
- 44:35Speaker 2: his boy Nick was like, are you playing? And Dana,
- 44:38Speaker 2: like a father, goes, He's not gonna play here.
- 44:40Speaker 1: He's good. Right now, I'm like, thank you because I was.
- 44:43Speaker 2: I would have, but I was. That's terrifying, right, Like,
- 44:46Speaker 2: the implications are so much more so. Then Jelly's coming,
- 44:50Speaker 2: So we wait for an hour or so. Jelly ends
- 44:52Speaker 2: up coming.
- 44:53Speaker 1: He's playing.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Then Jude's like, Kelse is gonna come. So now I'm
- 44:55Speaker 2: thinking redemption. Go in the bathroom, take a piss or
- 44:59Speaker 2: waiting for like thirty forty minutes. Now he comes. He's
- 45:02Speaker 2: gambling with everybody. Now we have a big crowd, about fifteen.
- 45:04Speaker 1: PEOPLEGK Kelse's MGK, so Bunny his Jolly Roll's wife, she's
- 45:11Speaker 1: over there.
- 45:11Speaker 2: With a group of girls and I go over, Hey, guys.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Nice to meet you. Taylor Taylor, Taylor Taylor, and.
- 45:16Speaker 2: I see Bunny give her a big hug, and then
- 45:18Speaker 2: I cruised back over the table. Well, one girl looked
- 45:21Speaker 2: very familiar, looked unique and beautiful, and it was Making
- 45:26Speaker 2: Fox his wife. Obviously that was there too, but I
- 45:29Speaker 2: couldn't recognize her at all because it's like I think
- 45:30Speaker 2: of making Fox, I'm thinking Transformers right next to it. Yeah, yeah,
- 45:36Speaker 2: the whole thing, the hood up. Yeah, but you know
- 45:38Speaker 2: exactly what I'm talking about. She looked completely different. Still
- 45:41Speaker 2: a fantastic anyway, Megan Fox is there, but I saw Kelse.
- 45:45Speaker 1: He's like, hey, do good to see you again.
- 45:47Speaker 2: DAPs me up like we've been boys for a minute.
- 45:49Speaker 2: He starts talking to me. He's like blah blah blah,
- 45:51Speaker 2: and I give him the whole Hey man takes to
- 45:52Speaker 2: my downfall, best album in the last twenty years since
- 45:55Speaker 2: blakelin A two's self titled album, and we start talking
- 45:57Speaker 2: about Blake online a two and he's loving it. But
- 45:59Speaker 2: he so, I'm ninety five percent sure. Jelly Roll hit
- 46:03Speaker 2: kel Us up and was like my boy Taylor. The
- 46:06Speaker 2: first impression wasn't great. Just know he's gonna be there tonight.
- 46:08Speaker 2: I'm literally felt like that into that. I say thank
- 46:11Speaker 2: you Jelly Roll because it was even if it was fake,
- 46:14Speaker 2: I still think of MGK as the fucking man now.
- 46:16Speaker 2: So that was a very cool experience. They hed I'm
- 46:19Speaker 2: putting a bunch of money.
- 46:19Speaker 1: It was.
- 46:20Speaker 2: It was a killer time. We're leaving and we're still
- 46:23Speaker 2: talking about music. He's like, hey, if you got any uh,
- 46:26Speaker 2: like advice or you want to go over songs or
- 46:28Speaker 2: something like that, like let me know what I'm thinking.
- 46:31Speaker 2: I bro, I'm not I'm not creative enough to do that.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Like I appreciate you.
- 46:36Speaker 2: That's what it really hit me, Like, okay, yeah, yeah,
- 46:38Speaker 2: jelly definitely said something, but I was like, I appreciate it,
- 46:41Speaker 2: but you know, your boy's never written a song in
- 46:43Speaker 2: this life.
- 46:44Speaker 1: And he's like, oh, it's all good. You know, maybe
- 46:46Speaker 1: we can we can get something going. You know, you
- 46:47Speaker 1: could have said like, but you know you ever want
- 46:50Speaker 1: to throw some on my way and you want you
- 46:51Speaker 1: want my feedback, let me have your number. Yeah, give
- 46:54Speaker 1: it to me right now, right in there with some digits. Yeah.
- 46:57Speaker 2: So anyway, that was a very cool experience. Next day
- 47:00Speaker 2: headed home exhausted, tired boy. Yeah yeah, but overall an
- 47:04Speaker 2: incredible trip, so much fun.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Yeah that we the boys did very well with the
- 47:10Speaker 1: super Bowl week. It was. It was everything we'd hoped
- 47:13Speaker 1: it would be, maybe more. Yeah, it was awesome. A movie.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Some would say, I hate that you said that, but
- 47:20Speaker 2: it's true. It's so true, and big cat I was
- 47:23Speaker 2: whispering them after we all gambled together. For those who
- 47:26Speaker 2: haven't seen the Tunnel of Chaos flog.
- 47:28Speaker 1: By the way, go take the Tunnel of Chaos blog.
- 47:31Speaker 2: We were sitting there after I go, it's a movie.
- 47:33Speaker 2: He goes, it's kind of a movie. I was like,
- 47:36Speaker 2: I fucking told you, dude, of a movie.
- 47:38Speaker 6: A movie?
- 47:38Speaker 1: You know what else is kind of a movie? What's that?
- 47:40Speaker 1: Cars dot com Oh, they are leading digital marketplace that
- 47:44Speaker 1: connects car shoppers with their perfect cars, celebrating twenty five
- 47:47Speaker 1: years of helping shoppers research, find inventory, finance, and sell cars.

- 48:04Speaker 1: Find your next possibility on cars dot Com Where to Next?
- 48:09Speaker 1: You have a docu series just dropped, The Dynasty New
- 48:15Speaker 1: England Patriots. Really get on that on what Apple Plus.
- 48:21Speaker 1: I'll be on that tonight. Yeah, Apple Plus. There's the
- 48:23Speaker 1: first two episodes of released. I think they're gonna release
- 48:25Speaker 1: one episode a week. There's gonna be ten in the season.
- 48:29Speaker 1: It's awesome. The first episode talks about basically it's called
- 48:34Speaker 1: the backup Plan, so it is Tom getting drafted six round.
- 48:37Speaker 1: He's like fourth on the depth chart with four quarterbacks there.
- 48:40Speaker 1: What's really cool about it is his buddy And I
- 48:43Speaker 1: hate that I'm fucking butcher. I hate that I can't
- 48:45Speaker 1: remember his name, but a teammate of his on on
- 48:49Speaker 1: the Patriots that he played at Purdue. Tom played at
- 48:51Speaker 1: Michigan and there are boys and roommates. He's got his uh,
- 48:55Speaker 1: he's got a recorder out a lot because they lived together.
- 48:58Speaker 1: There were roommates. So there's a lot of old footage
- 49:00Speaker 1: of Tom, like of the boys, like back in the
- 49:03Speaker 1: rookie year and everything else, which is super fucking cool.
- 49:06Speaker 1: And I didn't realize. I didn't realize because this was
- 49:09Speaker 1: back in what uh one, two thousand and one. Yeah, uh,
- 49:14Speaker 1: but I didn't realize the tension and the politics and
- 49:21Speaker 1: the moment that was going on when Drew Bletsoe had
- 49:24Speaker 1: gotten hurt. Like I knew he got hurt. Tom came in.
- 49:27Speaker 1: It's like the rest is history, right, But I didn't
- 49:29Speaker 1: know Drew Bletsoe was like a hundred million that he
- 49:31Speaker 1: just got paid as one hundred million dollar quarterback, right. Yeah.
- 49:35Speaker 1: His injury was so bad that the doc was like
- 49:38Speaker 1: if you don't have the uh you know, the response
- 49:41Speaker 1: by the team in the NFL and everything like that,
- 49:43Speaker 1: like if he doesn't get the doctor and say he
- 49:44Speaker 1: lays there for an extent period of time, like he
- 49:47Speaker 1: dies because he was basically bleeding out internally. What was
- 49:49Speaker 1: his injury? He just got fucked up?
- 49:54Speaker 2: Have you guys watched its oldest time?
- 49:56Speaker 1: The way he was all he was taking off on
- 49:58Speaker 1: a scramble and got lit the fuck up and literally
- 50:02Speaker 1: just laid there, bro And they talk about how he
- 50:05Speaker 1: was Ultimately he could have died had he just laid
- 50:07Speaker 1: there for an extended period of time, but like lacerated
- 50:09Speaker 1: some artery, like a lot of different shit. Yeah, yeah,
- 50:13Speaker 1: but he's thinking like he's the golden boy of New England,
- 50:17Speaker 1: like everybody's at the one hundred million dollars, like he's
- 50:19Speaker 1: good in the community, He's all the things you want
- 50:21Speaker 1: as a quarterback. Everybody loved him. And Tom has one
- 50:26Speaker 1: game where they win, then the second game like they lose,
- 50:28Speaker 1: and it's just all the drama that circulates around Bill
- 50:31Speaker 1: Belichick saying no, we're gonna stick with Tom and Robert Kraft.
- 50:36Speaker 1: He didn't like it. He thought Bledsoe was treated unfairly.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Bledsoe's losing his career too, or losing his job to
- 50:42Speaker 1: an injury like that when he's a one hundred million
- 50:45Speaker 1: dollar quarterback, they trust me in real time, or when
- 50:50Speaker 1: they made it seem like he got fucking killed because
- 50:52Speaker 1: he was like the fact you look that bad, but
- 50:54Speaker 1: he lost rated a spleen got all messed up. Set
- 50:56Speaker 1: up the boy bled so too because he's like, you know,
- 50:58Speaker 1: I feel like in chaos is where I start to
- 50:59Speaker 1: throw and they show this play like right after he
- 51:02Speaker 1: says it and just gets fucked up and like you know,
- 51:06Speaker 1: Drew Bledsoe again being very intertwined with the New England
- 51:09Speaker 1: Patriots organization, like mind you one hundred million dollar quarterback.
- 51:13Speaker 1: He was the golden boy in the NFL, cittying who
- 51:15Speaker 1: do you want to draft? He was in backyard football,
- 51:17Speaker 1: he was in all the different stuff like probably weedies, yeah,
- 51:20Speaker 1: all those things. And he's just like, you know, he's
- 51:23Speaker 1: thinking and saying like their lockers are next to each other,
- 51:26Speaker 1: and you can tell he's holding back on saying like
- 51:28Speaker 1: this should be my job when I come back, or
- 51:30Speaker 1: I'm thinking this is gonna be my job when I
- 51:32Speaker 1: come back. And I called Bill, I'm like, hey, I
- 51:34Speaker 1: just got cleared medically, and Bill kind of does the
- 51:36Speaker 1: Bill thing, like, didn't seem too excited. I thought he'd
- 51:38Speaker 1: be a little more enthused that I was coming back.
- 51:41Speaker 1: And they stuck with Tom Brady bro And they go
- 51:44Speaker 1: back into when Bill was the head coach of the
- 51:46Speaker 1: Browns back in ninety four, and I think his name
- 51:49Speaker 1: was like Bernie Cosar, Bernie Kozar, how he was doing well,
- 51:55Speaker 1: and then there's a downfall with the Browns to whether
- 51:56Speaker 1: they showing him hanging Bill Belichick and the owner Art
- 52:00Speaker 1: or whoever it is, and how he was such a
- 52:01Speaker 1: bad breakup with the Browns because he's stuck with some
- 52:04Speaker 1: quarterback and you know, him and the VP of player
- 52:07Speaker 1: scouting and everything else that's internally going on with Bill.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Around Bill, they're saying like, hey, if we don't get
- 52:12Speaker 1: this right, we have all this PTSD from what happened
- 52:14Speaker 1: with the Browns. We're choosing to go Brady, who's a
- 52:16Speaker 1: six round pick who doesn't have the pedigree, instead of
- 52:19Speaker 1: the one hundred million dollars, Like we could easily just
- 52:21Speaker 1: go back to this right, and they choose not to do. Like,
- 52:24Speaker 1: it's an incredible it's gonna be an incredible docum series.
- 52:27Speaker 1: How long is the U of the episodes? Probably forty minutes?
- 52:32Speaker 2: Oh, I love that?
- 52:33Speaker 1: Yeah, not not almost, not like fifty seven sixty minutes.
- 52:36Speaker 1: We're talking a good digestible, like you're in it a
- 52:40Speaker 1: good forty minutes, and how they basically bring back and
- 52:42Speaker 1: build this dynasty. But it gets into like the nitty gritty.
- 52:47Speaker 2: God damn that fire that fires me up.
- 52:49Speaker 1: And just how competitive Tom was. It's cool, bro, it's
- 52:52Speaker 1: really cool. Similarly to the Last Dances.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it'll be better than sitting there. I
- 53:00Speaker 1: think it'll be Brady talking about it. Yeah, I love that.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Fires coaches this down. You get to see an old
- 53:05Speaker 1: cameo of Rabes where he's like, shut the fuck up,
- 53:08Speaker 1: spikes the ball because McGinnis like they talked about how
- 53:11Speaker 1: it was like their team. It wasn't Tom's, it wasn't Bill's,
- 53:14Speaker 1: it wasn't Bill Belichick's team, Like it felt like a collective.
- 53:17Speaker 1: We need to do the right things, run the football,
- 53:19Speaker 1: play good defense, all that other stuff. And they would
- 53:21Speaker 1: talk like how the defense would just talk so much
- 53:23Speaker 1: shit to Tom and the offense when they fuck up.
- 53:26Speaker 1: And Willie McGinnis like he's a shit talker. He's like
- 53:29Speaker 1: a badass cat and he's like, you know, I'm Vrabes
- 53:32Speaker 1: like he he's one of those guys who has zero line.
- 53:34Speaker 1: And it just shows his clip of Raby shut the
- 53:37Speaker 1: fuck up Tom just out of nowhere, and then he's like, hey, Rabes,
- 53:41Speaker 1: like you you know, you might need to relax. He's like, oh,
- 53:43Speaker 1: Tom's gonna be fine. Then you see Rabes sit down
- 53:45Speaker 1: and Rabe has a little cameo like no, the filming
- 53:48Speaker 1: and sitting down and like pouring into the the dynasty
- 53:51Speaker 1: that was built in New England. It is fucking cool. Bro.
- 53:54Speaker 1: It fires me up.
- 53:55Speaker 2: There's got especially when you know somebody that's in it, right,
- 53:58Speaker 2: do you feel that?
- 53:59Speaker 1: Yeah? See being a young thundercat.
- 54:02Speaker 2: Tom Brady was at a power slab on Friday, Yeah,
- 54:05Speaker 2: at the at the super Bowl week, and he just
- 54:08Speaker 2: had a glow about him. Now he was over there
- 54:11Speaker 2: sitting with Day and he was kind of up and
- 54:12Speaker 2: at him immediately. So Pat went and sat down after that.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Pat saw Pat and the whole crew.
- 54:18Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah, yeah, as you're as you were walking
- 54:20Speaker 1: out or walking in.
- 54:21Speaker 2: But yeah, that's cool. I gotta check that out, dude,
- 54:23Speaker 2: I really want to, because that's everything you just said.
- 54:25Speaker 2: The way you just painted it for me fires me up.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Yeah. It's one of those things like you pour into
- 54:30Speaker 1: being a fan of that moment in time and like
- 54:33Speaker 1: appreciating it all. And then I'm sitting there thinking, like
- 54:36Speaker 1: this story for on tom Brady, like being the goat,
- 54:39Speaker 1: like being somebody who was like just at the bottom politically,
- 54:42Speaker 1: not politically, but has to awkwardly like when the day
- 54:46Speaker 1: does come and we have him on busting with the boys,
- 54:48Speaker 1: but talking through that awkward stage of cameras being there,
- 54:52Speaker 1: people just you know, they're showing all the old clips
- 54:55Speaker 1: of like a pardon the interruption, all the talking shows
- 54:58Speaker 1: collins Worth, you got Scott van Pelt, He's a young
- 55:01Speaker 1: Scott van Pelt with hair. They're all talking like this
- 55:03Speaker 1: is such a dumb decision, like you gotta go. This
- 55:06Speaker 1: is definitely Blutzsoe's job. When he comes back, everybody's talking
- 55:09Speaker 1: like no, there's no Tom Brady, like he's just there
- 55:11Speaker 1: until Blodsoe comes back. And then Tom gets the nod
- 55:14Speaker 1: and they're all cruise like trying to crucify Bill. What's
- 55:16Speaker 1: gonna happen Tom's first game when they're both on the sideline,
- 55:19Speaker 1: Tom's stone too picks a young London Fletcher Backer Greatest
- 55:22Speaker 1: show on turf Boom picks them off. They lose that game.
- 55:25Speaker 1: They're questioning him even more. It's like you're in it,
- 55:28Speaker 1: like I want to you just want to pick Tom's
- 55:31Speaker 1: brain of like awkwardly being in those moments, knowing that
- 55:33Speaker 1: Blodsoe's staying there, not hoping for your downfall, but hoping
- 55:36Speaker 1: that it gets shoved up his ass. Because Kraft is
- 55:39Speaker 1: talking to Blotzo like, hey, you know, maybe Tom doesn't
- 55:42Speaker 1: play well and then I can easily He's like I
- 55:44Speaker 1: could go in and tell Bill I don't want to
- 55:45Speaker 1: tell you everything I'm telling everyone. Yeah, I was mesmerized.
- 55:49Speaker 1: I'm glad you stopped. I'm blowing it all. But yeah,
- 55:52Speaker 1: it's it's cool man.
- 55:53Speaker 2: I love your passion behind it. I'm gonna put that
- 55:55Speaker 2: on tonight and if I don't, I'm a bad person.
- 55:57Speaker 2: I need to go watch that showed up y.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you do. You have to watch it
- 56:00Speaker 1: so that way. I think every week we have to
- 56:02Speaker 1: watch it, so that way we have something to talk about,
- 56:03Speaker 1: because we will talk about the show. Everybody saying spoilers
- 56:07Speaker 1: everything else. Listen, this is the dynasty. You can go back.
- 56:09Speaker 1: If you're a Patriots fan, you already knew this year. Yeah,
- 56:12Speaker 1: but he's cool man. Yeah.
- 56:14Speaker 2: Did you guys have been a fan since like, you know,
- 56:17Speaker 2: Brady's first year of the Patriots and well being a fan.
- 56:20Speaker 1: That decade before, like and you just hadn't you know
- 56:24Speaker 1: their second playoff game ever, I don't think they ever
- 56:27Speaker 1: hosted a playoff game, and so they won the division
- 56:29Speaker 1: the very last game in the in the stadium before
- 56:32Speaker 1: Gillette uh was hosting a playoff game, so like bringing
- 56:36Speaker 1: that to the city. Robert Kraft was a longtime Patriot fan.
- 56:39Speaker 1: They go through him buying that. It's really cool.
- 56:41Speaker 6: Damn will you say, Jack, Well, I got a fan question.
- 56:45Speaker 1: It was good.
- 56:45Speaker 6: Since off season, you know, things are getting a little slower.
- 56:48Speaker 7: But as of today Monday, there's one hundred and ninety
- 56:52Speaker 7: nine days until football starts again. We have a fan
- 56:56Speaker 7: question from under or Idaho Underscore Rambler top three Sunday
- 57:01Speaker 7: activities between now and kickoff? So for this offseason, what's
- 57:06Speaker 7: your top three Sunday activities.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Between now and kickoff?
- 57:10Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 57:10Speaker 7: Well, during the off season, doesn't be like as players,
- 57:13Speaker 7: just like as fans. Like when there's nothing to do
- 57:14Speaker 7: on Sundays anymore, when you just watching football for.
- 57:17Speaker 6: Eight hours a day, could be a tear talk. Yeah,
- 57:20Speaker 6: that that's where the Okay, take some time to do
- 57:23Speaker 6: that and think about it. You can.
- 57:25Speaker 2: I like this one off the cuff. Who just want
- 57:27Speaker 2: to you want to create one together? You want to
- 57:29Speaker 2: create one by ourselves?
- 57:30Speaker 1: Well, I think we just talk about them out loud,
- 57:32Speaker 1: will kind of come up with our lists, all right.
- 57:34Speaker 2: First one that comes to my head as a nice
- 57:35Speaker 2: barbecue with the boys, like when the summer, when the
- 57:38Speaker 2: summertime hits, summertime hit tank tops, on. Somebody's out there
- 57:42Speaker 2: growing somebody. You know, Hey, well, you gotta have will
- 57:44Speaker 2: Compton's ribs. You gotta have this guy so and so.
- 57:47Speaker 2: Oh this dude the mac and cheese he makes Unreally,
- 57:49Speaker 2: you kind of create like a pot luck bean thing.
- 57:51Speaker 2: Simple to the point. Sun's out Sunday afternoon. Pool's right there,
- 57:57Speaker 2: everyone's catching a tan. You're doing the ten minutes before
- 57:59Speaker 2: you put the sunscreen on because you want to get
- 58:01Speaker 2: a nice starter pack going. That is I feel like
- 58:04Speaker 2: a god tier and a.
- 58:06Speaker 1: Tier one to me. Yeah, Barber five, Tier one, Ultimate
- 58:11Speaker 1: Tier one, Barbecue Tier one.
- 58:13Speaker 2: Another one that popped into my head. And I don't
- 58:15Speaker 2: know if it's a Sunday, but it is an activity
- 58:16Speaker 2: that happens mostly in the in the off season, only
- 58:20Speaker 2: in the off season, and that is it's specific to
- 58:23Speaker 2: you and me, and it's risk and having a late
- 58:26Speaker 2: night that bleeds into Sunday, having a risk night.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Didn't like that one as much. That's okay, no, no, no,
- 58:32Speaker 1: I like it. I just feel like there's a lot
- 58:34Speaker 1: of options.
- 58:34Speaker 2: I know I was just but I'm brainstorm or brainstorming
- 58:37Speaker 2: right now. I think you sit there and it's two
- 58:39Speaker 2: thirty in the morning, and you're still contempting the boys.
- 58:42Speaker 2: Do we play one more? That's a moment at a time.
- 58:45Speaker 1: Well, so we can change it. Let's switch it up
- 58:47Speaker 1: to weekend activities. Thanks. Iwa Iowa Rambler. Yeah, I like that. Yeah,
- 58:53Speaker 1: I would like to throw in farmers Market. I do
- 58:57Speaker 1: like that going to the local farmers market with the
- 58:59Speaker 1: fam and morning on a Saturday. Maybe it's a Sunday,
- 59:02Speaker 1: but the farmers Market advise when the sun is at
- 59:05Speaker 1: its highest, it's tough to beat.
- 59:07Speaker 2: I know, even the complaints it's hot out here today.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Yeah, get them a water. Yeah, the line might be tough.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Yeah, get him an asa E bowl. Hello, head over
- 59:16Speaker 2: to California. Get the breakfast burritos nor tortilla. Throw that
- 59:19Speaker 2: thing in a bowl for me to make them two
- 59:20Speaker 2: put them on there. My god, you're living the dream.
- 59:23Speaker 1: I do like the video game or video game session
- 59:26Speaker 1: with the boys. Yeah, what else you guys got? What's
- 59:29Speaker 1: going through your As said, this.
- 59:31Speaker 5: Is probably a very niche one and it's not for everybody.
- 59:35Speaker 5: But now now the football is ever, Nascar is back,
- 59:43Speaker 5: and there's just something about on a Sunday throwing on
- 59:46Speaker 5: the cup race. You're gonna take a nap during it.
- 59:49Speaker 5: You're gonna wake up with fifty laps left and that's
- 59:51Speaker 5: all you need to that's all you need to watch.
- 59:52Speaker 5: You watched last fifty eight, last fifty laps, You've seen
- 59:55Speaker 5: the whole race. So just NASCAR being back and being
- 59:59Speaker 5: able to being able to watch that and might really
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: like dial in on one of your boys just out
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: there trying to win.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Oh yeah, all right, okay, dude, I'm with that. Yeah,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: that was very it is.
- 1:00:12Speaker 6: Some guys are fired fired up about that man.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: One, by the way, naps nap, incredible activity, that mid
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: day nap between the hours of one and three on
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: the love sack. So I'm going upstairs. You're gonna take
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: a nap.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: You already know you already know one that a lot
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: of people will be like, yes, I will say no
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: to this, but I'll say it as a vessel golfing
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: with the boys, I'm sure Sunday activity in the springtime
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: when the weather's finally broke. Oh yeah, golf got for
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: a lot of people.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Very nice.
- 1:00:49Speaker 6: Bike rides too. I like I like to hop on
- 1:00:53Speaker 6: the old cycler.
- 1:00:54Speaker 7: Just get out there, just take it all in, some
- 1:00:58Speaker 7: deep breathing, Okay, to be ground yourself out in them
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: hof going.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Yeah fires now sitting now by a fire with the
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: boys lying some stogies, the Crackle the Stars. Yeah.
- 1:01:12Speaker 6: Also coming up soon, the March Madness. We're nearing it.
- 1:01:16Speaker 7: I know we're not the biggest basketball pod, but I
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: do think we dive into some brackets this year.
- 1:01:21Speaker 6: Get a little competition going.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: I'm down with that.
- 1:01:23Speaker 7: And when there's no football, you turn to the next
- 1:01:26Speaker 7: best thing, and for me, that's basketball, and March Madness
- 1:01:29Speaker 7: is one of the greatest times ever in sports.
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: So I'm excited for that here in the next month.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: I want I want to chase that because everybody talks
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: about jumping on old DraftKings and just immersing yourself in
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: the in the sports part. Yeah, hashtag DK partner immersing
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: yourself in the March Madness because they say that it's
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: like the best betting time of the year. I do
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: want to get involved with that. And Mark Titus shout
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: out the Mark Titus Show. He said he did a
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: podcast to catch everybody up. If you're somebody who hasn't
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: been in and you want to kind of dip your
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: toe into it. Basically one that I'm going to digest
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: and listen to is on the Mark Titus Show. The
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Boy Mark. He did a podcast for everybody who's not
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: necessarily a fan of college basketball.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: So you have to send me a link for that,
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: because I don't know a whole lot. I know that
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: Michigan's bad, Nebraska's got a shot.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: I know that nebrasketball.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Dude, you need to win it all.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Once you get into the dance, you never know anybody's game.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: You getting into the tournament. It's anybody anybody's game. Anybody's
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: fun that I need to hear from you.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Just now.
- 1:02:23Speaker 7: We might have to hit I know a bunch of
- 1:02:25Speaker 7: people with Barstool do it, but might have to do
- 1:02:27Speaker 7: a live stream on the first round of sixty four.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: I think there's talks of the boys going up, yeah,
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: going out, Yeah, going out to getting in the mix,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: the mix. They might have something as well at Barstool
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: Nashville at the bar.
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: Oh, that's one of the best gambling days of the
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: whole year.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Might have to just get a vibe going partner.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: I got another one, I got I got one, I
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: got one. Binge watching a show something you've put off
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: in the football season and you're like, I gotta everybody's
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: talking about everybody's talking about it, like I gotta make
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: sure to watch that once a season ends, and once
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: the season ends, it is like on the top of
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: your list, like putting in. Hey, it's three seasons already,
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: You're just not being put on for whatever reason. You
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: watch literally twelve hours.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I'll be dipping my tone of that
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: with the show Rome I saw. Yeah, yeah, I don't
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: know what happened. I started thinking about the Roman Empire again,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: and I was like, I wonder if there are any
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: other shows out there, because I want some more Game
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: of Thrones, Last Kingdom and back.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: Of my seeing them Last Kingdom, Yeah, sorry, yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Last Kingdom was fire so good.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: I want to get into Vikings. I've heard that's a
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: really good one. But when I searched the web out there,
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: I saw that there was a show called Rome from
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: two thousand and five to two thousand and seven, two seasons,
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: ten episodes in each season, and it's rated very well
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: on IMDb. I'm I'm a thorough Yeah, I am a
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: big believer in IMDb. If a TV show is eight
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: point seven, Especially back in the mid two thousands and then,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: people were responding to that saying like, Oh, I'm so
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: jealous of you. I envy you get to watch that,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: you get to enjoy it for the first time. I'm
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: excited to dive in the room.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: You need to wash on fourage.

- 1:05:23Speaker 2: That is as good of a deal as you're gonna
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: ever get. Boys and girls, Will really needs to watch Entourage.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: He needs to watch that show. It's so incredible. And
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: when he says he's jumping on Rome or Roman or whatever,
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: that fires me up for him because I know it's
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: gonna be a fun journey for him. I love the
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: way he dives into shows. But Entourage is a show
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: that he needs to see. It's got that cult following
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: that he's going to love, especially when we have mister
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: Jerry Ferraro on here. Eventually, Turtle, we have him on
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: this show. That is going to be awesome. There was
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: something else Up was going to say, have you seen
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: the new Napoleon movie?
- 1:05:55Speaker 6: I need?
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you needed Apple TV and you're rid of cable
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: like that stuff is. That's for the birds is my
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: first year doing it.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: I was just looking for my phone. Hey, that scared
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: the ship out of me.
- 1:06:10Speaker 6: Long that was it was a fire.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: There was a child missing three blocks away. That was crazy.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: We're just.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: You think Garment's gonna come on?
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: Oh, I have no clue. You need to be sick
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: chasing a few of them.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: We were talking about you diving into shows and how
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: it's special when you do. Anytime you dive into a
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: new show, especially for anybody, but Entourage, you need to
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: get on that.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: I know everybody. Everybody says that.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and you've you've drawn a line in the sand
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: with Rome.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: I get it.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: You need to watch that first.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: I hope you enjoy it. I help you up a
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: good time.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: But the next one, let me bookmark that for you.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: Authourage will be your next show.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: All right. I just, dude, I just I love like
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: war type, no questions, no question, A couple more. I
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: think on that politics behind the scenes that bring it
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: all together. I love it, the strategy behind it all.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: Just yeah, all the politic and that happens the storylines.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, dude, No, I saw that one. Then I
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: who I want to put on. Their Banded Brothers is
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: one of the top shows of all time.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: You haven't seen band of Brothers?
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: No, And then there's another one called like, uh that
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: band of Brothers. The creator of that one is doing
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: one that's out on Apple Plus now Masters of the Air. Yea, yeah,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: that's another one I want to check out.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: I don't know about that one. I need to watch
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: that one.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: That one's that one's new on Apple Plus. Movie Napoleon.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Have you seen it? I haven't. I haven't. It's like
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: what two and a half hours, two and a half,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: three hours something like that.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: I had it on for about thirty minutes. I ended
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: up going to bed because I was like, I was
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: too tired. But it was really jump around me, like
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: he gets married, boom, he's getting cheated on, and you're like, whoa,
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: there's no development of the marriage for me to see
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: how much that's gonna affect him. So there was a
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: lot of jump around stuff for me that I was like,
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know how this is going
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: to turn out, but I need to give it a
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: full watch. I need to give it a fair watch. Yeah,
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: that's what you got to do.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: With your shows. That one's rated in the sixes on IMDb?
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: Is it? Yeah?
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: You know Walking Phoenix?
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Is that?
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: Why?
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: No? Walking Phoenix is Yeah. I know.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: He's the guy I'm just to see because he's such
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: a good actor.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: So I would have thought that'd be like something in
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: the eights, maybe seven to nine. Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: I don't know. They're ratings like you do, but you
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: are about I'm usually like, okay, I'll watch that.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: What rattles me is how much you think about the
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: Roman Empire. I can't I get it.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: It's beautiful. How often do you think about it?
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: I mean five times a year?
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: How often do you think about it? Jack?
- 1:08:28Speaker 7: This is a this is a whole trend that went
- 1:08:30Speaker 7: on a few months. I know, I know, but yeah,
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: I mean a few months ago.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: It was August.
- 1:08:34Speaker 7: We're in talk about rods, literal roads, all like, it's
- 1:08:39Speaker 7: it's the Roman Empire.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: I don't want to bore everybody. I don't want to
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: bore everybody. I went to Rome last year. It really
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: immersed myself in the culture, so I think about it
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: quite a bit. GPT is great for all that history.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: Ship dude.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I utilized chet gupt all the time, and it's
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: mostly for my kids when going to bed, like, hey,
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: you can ask the robot one question, and it's always
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: how long do foxes live? How long do bears live?
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: How long?
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: You know, it's always like, how long do these animals live?
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: I love that I learn a few things, which is good.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: Should we do our hypothetical question that usually is presented
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: by twisted tea, Yeah, let's do one.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Yeah, all right?
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: Would you rather go to jail for one year?
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Straight? Shout out Twitter for this one? Yeah, I need to. Actually,
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: it needs to be five years or six at least
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: to equate to the amount of time in that one year.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: I saw that one.
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: Yeah, so do you know what?
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: We'll do that for the for a year every day
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: or prison for the next three years, but only on weekends.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: But if you just do the next three years, there's
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: fifty two weekends in the year.
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: That's one hundred and fifty.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Days, right, So you need to do like four or
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: five years. Yeah, and you have to go on the weekends,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: like there's no any weekend plan anywhere. I probably just
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: do the year. I think so too. Yeah.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: Immerse yourself in the culture. See what crew you're gonna
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: end up rolling with Yeah, become boys.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Try not to get stabbed.
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: Figure out the total pull of you know, who's in charge,
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: who's not. Do you want to overthrow? Do you not
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: want to overthrow them?
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Yeah? Have that talk. If I go every.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: Weekend, they're gonna get jealous, Like it's Sunday. Oh you
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: know Taylor's leaving eventually going to come back one Friday,
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: and they're like, you're not leaving anymore. They're gonna stab my ass.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Or I think you like you have to do for say, yeah,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: three years, like and you have to stay dis one today,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: Like it's just gonna sell all your weekends are in prison.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: Yeah you could, Yeah, it would be that.
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: This is JP brought up this point, like you could
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: be that dude that comes on the weekends, like just
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: bring some stuff for the boys, like you just kind
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: of you're like the plug for.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a fun idea. When it starts, Hey, I
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: brought some one crustables for the boys, pack of Marble cigarettes.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: Everyone's having a good time. Now all of a sudden,
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: you're a meal shoving Heroin up your ass, trying to
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: get to the boys, and you're in a whole lot
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: more trouble. No, now it's no longer weekends or Hey.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Did you take their care of that guy? I told
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: you to take care of it. Right.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: If you don't do this, you're you're out of the brotherhood.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I got thirty pairs of eyes on your family
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: right now.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: Right, What are you gonna do if I'm just in
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: prison for a year? Hey, what'd you do?
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: Murder?
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: Double homicide?
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: Really, don't fuck with that guy.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Now I'm not getting out, Yeah, but I'm getting
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: out any year. Yeah a lawyer, he's really You don't
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: say that. You just kind of let it ride. Yeah,
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: but I want I want that to know. Is some
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: bargaining power for whatever cruise trying to rate me? Like, hey,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: what do you need me to do?
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: I forgot the right Yeah yeah, yeah, that's a smart thing.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Yeah. What do you want me to do whenever I
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: get out of here? Like, I get it, I get it,
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: I get to leave. It's bullshit. I I think so too.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: But what I can do for you on the outside,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: I'll make sure to get done.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: That's a slippery slope.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: Slippery slope.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta do one bad thing when you get out.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: You guys, get one.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: That's it.
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: Yeah, and you're probably a couple of others never never
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: fulfill it.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: You know how it works. Who who's sending that question?
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: A little shout out? Come on, Mitch, you just gonna
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: ask a question, but not give them take all the credit.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: How much he.
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: Wanted to.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: We would have never heard about that. You literally the
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: what hour the one year?
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: You knew the question immediately?
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: Yeah, the way I saw it was on Instagram is
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: from Jacob Lawrence.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Jacob Lawrence, I appreciate you, man.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: Is there anything else we're missing? Boys, anything else we need?
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: Here's a good question last week that we were passing
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: around the shop, Jack, but this would be good because
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: you want a part of it. What are you most
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: afraid to pass down to your children? Mh well, I
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: have to go. You gotta take a minute. What was
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: your mine was? It was like, yeah, it's like being
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: afraid to pass down the expectation that they have to
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: like earn my love, like earn my me, being proud
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: of them because there's a lot of times going up.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: And I know my old man, he wants he watches
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: all for he's a tier one. I love my dad,
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: but he was obviously hard on us, and he was
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: always somebody I felt like in sports I would have
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: to perform or do well to have something to kind
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: of like, you know, talk about or him be proud of,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: or like have that kind of awesome pat on the back.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: He was always great at doing that, but I just
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: always felt I felt like that as like a young athlete,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: like with my own man, and so like with Rue
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: or any any of my kids, I would probably be
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: afraid of like doing that.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: We shared that same childhood of being like the sports
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: with the thing like make or break the week, make
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: or break the month.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Yeah for the dinner table. Yeah, yeah, my dad. My
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: dad loved me a lot.
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: I gotta think about that. That's a good that's a good one.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: I don't I don't have that fear having two girls.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: If I have a boy, I could see that fear coming.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: But with my girls, like when played soccer and I
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: was like kind of just wanted her to try. All
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: I cared about was like, hey, listen, I don't care
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: if you're good. I just want you to try hard.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: That's all that matters to me.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: And she wasn't very good.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: No disrespect when as you're when you get older and
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: you look at the archives. Maybe that's gone.
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: Now yeah, or maybe she's great. Maybe she's great now.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: Yeah, But to me, I wasn't like disappointed.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: I don't think they'll ever feel that, which is which
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: is nice genetically.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: I just say, like my horniness. That's what I was
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: telling the boys. You are horny, but it's good to
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: be that horny, I think, Yeah, I mean motivate. Yeah,
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: the motivator.
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: Being horny is like as primitive as it can possibly be.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: Like you just a hunter gatherer, Like if I get
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: this mammoth, I'm gonna get laid.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, because Minch had one too. He's like
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: it was a hypothetical. In one side of it was
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: like you get you get a stiffy every time you
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: see an attractive woman, or yeah, or you every hor
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: of everything insane. And I was like, bro, I mean,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: how many boners do we get a day? Like it
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: is like scientific that we get like double digit boners
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: throughout the course of twenty four hours. Yeah, so it's
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: like that already happens. I don't I don't know if
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: that's true.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: You should look at your tea then.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: You probably check out your testosterone.
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: No, I'm saying obviously, obviously you wake up with morning wood. Yes,
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: but when else are you getting hard at work?
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: I am right now?
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: Wait, this bottles right here in from my pants.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: The average man. There we go, Thank you Jack. The
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: average man has eleven erections a day, as well as
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: many more when they are asleep. On average, a healthy
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: man has three to five erections during a full night's sleep. Six.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: I like, I don't know, I don't Am I wrong?
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: Am I by myself on this one?
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah you are?
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: I mean, do you look into your team?
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: No?
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: See, I think the horniness. You don't want the horniness?
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Yeah? What's a gene? What's a gene you would hate
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: to pass down to your daughters? Ah?
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: I don't know the gene because like, is the want
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: for your father's approval a gene thing?
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: No? No, they're they're I'm saying. I basically just changed
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: it to like for me, I.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: Feel bad for my kids that they had, like how
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: flat my feet are?
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: Yeah, like hereditary or I'm diabetic.
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: I would hate if my kids.
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: That's that's a good one. It's a low hanging fruit
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: good one.
- 1:16:32Speaker 6: But you know, statistically, if I have four kids.
- 1:16:37Speaker 7: One of them is probably gonna have it, which will suck,
- 1:16:39Speaker 7: But that is that's what I thought of immediately.
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: I would say, it's so hard because there's like one
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: in my head that I'm like trying to piece together.
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: But it's like, if if I say it incorrectly, it
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: will come off like too deep, and that's not necessarily
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: my I'll say, it's like, uh, the I would I
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: would not want for my kids to have a constant
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: like earning to feel fulfillment through like success, like having
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: success in certain areas. Like I'd want them to be
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: fine fulfillment. They're enough just being them and being the
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: best person they can be, as opposed to all I
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: got to do all these things and I want to
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: be the best at this at all, Like constantly trying
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: to be the best at whatever category this everyone's the
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: subject they're talking about it.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Like not allowing the external world to dictate how they're down.
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that that would probably be mine because I did.
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: That happens a lot with me, not as much as
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: you used to, but still happens quite frequently, but especially
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: with football. It was always like, if I'm not the
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: absolute best, I'm a complete failure. I could be second best,
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: and I'd be like I'm the.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: Worst in the fear of like projecting that down like
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: yeah times yea, to me, to me, for my kids.
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: It's all about just like if you're gonna do something,
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: do it the best, like to the best you do
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: as hard as you can, like the best you possibly
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: can outcome is not what you what you care about.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: Success is the journey, not the destination. That's right. Should
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: we talk about Steven A this podcast.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: It and there's things in this podcast that Steve and
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: A started talking about that he knows that other people
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: didn't know. But that's how he got into the world
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: of Like he talks about being a beat writer and
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: getting into it Alan Iverson and how like he he
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: dodged him for like three days because of whatever thing.
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: He ends up showing up to a club and just
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: a great storyteller, a passionate man. Now there is a
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: clip that should be in here, Mitch that is black
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: and white with the music over it, that whole type
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: of thing that's about him being number one. Yeah, it
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: could be in the episode I want to clip I
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: want to clip diversity, Yes, exactly. This dude, the way
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: he operates. We asked him about, like, you know, you
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: see his competitive nature. We talked to him about McAfee
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: and a guy like him, young gun who's just his
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: numbers are going crazy.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: How does that make you feel? From like a teammates
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: standpoint and then also.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: A competitive standpoint, he gets into all that gets into
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: how you know where he came from, how he came
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: from it, his process, his drive for success, his new
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: podcast that he has truly a great a great interview.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: Yeah, you can tell he's very calculated. Like he talks
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: about lunin to trying to always be ten steps ahead.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: I feel like there's something to that where he has
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: his own platform with the Steven A Show. I mean
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: he's obviously on TV. He's been on TV every day
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: for how long did he say? Twenty thirty years?
- 1:19:29Speaker 6: Two years?
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Yeah, something like that, which is insane. He knows his
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: workload is nuts. But you can tell he's a very
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: ambitious individual and there's like a lot of good stuff
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: that you'll be able to listen to and like take
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: from and sacrifice. He kind of puts into it all
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: in thinking ahead of like you know, in my opinion,
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: it's like he did now with his new show and
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: doing all the things outside of ESPN. He wants to
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: be able to establish like a ESPN Like I want you,
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: but I don't need.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: You, right, I mean he knew exactly to the day,
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: how many how long until its contracts up, which is.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: Pretty fantastic. Yeah, it was great.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: I hope you guys enjoy it literally these last three
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: episodes since Ed mccaffree, we obviously dropped the ball with
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: Big Cat, and we'll get another shot at that hopefully.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: God that suck.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: I know that audio pissed me off. It's just so brutal, dude,
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: it really is. But the last few we love how
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: well received it's been. We love how you guys always
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: give comments, suggestions everything. Here's a suggestion for you, dude.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: I know football season's over and you think dark, Am
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: I still gonna have my favorite most delicious drink on
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: the weekend's answers?
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: Absolutely yes, dude.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: Twisted Tea is a refreshing, hard ed team made with
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: real brood tea and five percent alcohol, full of flavor
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: and very refreshing twist. The tea goes down smooth and
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: there is no carbonation, what makes it easy to drink
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: all day long twisted tea feels fun and celebrates extreme
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: fandom on game day. Is the perfect alcohol slash beverage
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: for a game day, whether you're tailgating on the parking lots.
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: You don't need to hear that part because it's no
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: longer game day unless you're going tailgatting for the basketball.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: Everything like that, everycues barbecues, keeping it twisted. The weather
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: is changing, all right. I know it doesn't feel like
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: it for some of you where you're at in the country,
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: but the summer, the spring is on the horizon. Twist
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: the tea taste delicious in the wintertime. But I promised you, brother,
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: when you have a pair of swim trunks on and
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: you dive into a pool, swim across a pool, immediately
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: get up, grab yourself a twisted tea, crack it and
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: sip it. There is not a feeling like that feeling, dude,
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: Grab yourself a refreshing twisted tea. Today, let's get into
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: this episode with Stephen a big hugs and tiniest of kisses.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: Tell you want to kick it off.
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: Yeah, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome to another episode of Busting
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: with the Boys. Very special guest today the legend. If
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: you've bit Heurren on ESPN every probably in your entire life,
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: you've seen this man sitting in front of you giving takes,
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: going at people, having absolute receipts for everything.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: Mister stephen A.
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: Smith, what's going on, fellas?
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: Hi?
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: Y'all to going? How y'all doing? Man?
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: Good to be here, Yeah, living to dream and we're
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: happy you came on. We actually just saw you an
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: hour ago doing a little hit on ESPN. I will
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: tell you this, it is a very unique thing doing
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: real TV because it's so fast paced.
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: It is it is.
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: It's fast paced and in our case is live. So
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: you mess up, you mess up, you know what I mean?
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: And ain't like somebody's gonna say we don't even have
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: to say a seven second delay, so you know, an
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: any kind of hiccup that takes place, you could say
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: the wrong word, the wrong thing or whatever. You can
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: gind yourself in trouble. So that's the pressure that comes
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: along with doing live television. But I like it, so
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: it is what it is.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: How do you manage to keep your level of enthusiasm
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: work ethic with everything you're doing. You're also now in
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: the podcast space, which is a massive one, by the way,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: and shout out, shout out your boy Bailey's here. I've
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: followed him a while. I know he kind of does
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: a lot of your stuff, but he does. How do
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: you manage all of that stuff?
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: Well, you gotta do what you love. That's number one.
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: I don't have a job. I have a career.
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: I've often said when I.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: Give speeches and lectures, I say a job is doing
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: what you have to do to sustain elevation quality of life.
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: A career is doing what you want to do, and
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: it just so happens to do those things. But I
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: also think the pressure of covering sports contributes to that
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: kind of mentality. You know, you guys played in the NFL.
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: You've got guys I'm covering to play in the NBA,
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: Major League Baseball, professional boxes, UFC, fighters, et cetera, et cetera.
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: These are the best in the world. And when you
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: consider the fact that you not only didn't do what
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: they did on.
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: That level, but it was because you couldn't.
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: Yet you get to sit in judgment of how they performed,
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: how receptive folks should be to how they perform, how
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: receptive people should be to your commentary about it, Then
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: you owe it to everybody to make sure that you
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: put forth a full fledged effort with passion and enthusiasm
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: to let everybody know not only are you not playing around,
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: but you care that much. And so that's the very
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: least that you can do. And that's what I try
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: to bring to the table.
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: When you're fighting through that process of knowing that these
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: guys are playing at the highest level, doing their thing
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: at the highest level, and you are saying there in judgment,
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: how was the process for you as far as I
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: feeling comfortable with putting out of judgment knowing you essentially
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: haven't done what they did.
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: You know, it was easy for me in this regard.
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: I remember when I started out in the business and
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: I had a clerical position at the Winston Salem Journal
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: newspaper in Winstersalem, North Carolina, because I went to Winston
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: Salem State University, which is a historically black college and university.
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: And I went there and the sports editor of my
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: first week on a job sent me to wake Forest
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: University right down the road. Wake Forest was the number
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: three ranked team in the nation in soccer. The only
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: soccer match I had ever watched was Pele in the
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: nineteen eighty Olympics for the you know of I guess right,
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: And so what happened is that I knew nothing about soccer,
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: and I went to the coach who's now.
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: Deceased, God rest his soul.
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: His name was Walke Chisowich, and I walked up to
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: him and I say, I know absolutely no thing about soccer.
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: I've never covered it on anything, sir, But the boss.
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: Sent me over here to do a feature on you guys,
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: and I don't know what I'm doing, but I really
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: want to be a sports writer.
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: Could you help me?
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: And he summoned the entire team over and he said,
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: for the next three days, because my piece was doing
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: a week. He said, for the next three days, you
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: guys are to give complete unadulterated access to Stephen. To Stephen,
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: any question he asked you answer and he said you Steven. Meanwhile,
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: every single practice of every day this week, you will
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: be standing right next to me. And he taught me
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: the game of soccer. And then when I finished the piece,
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: which ultimately had the sports that are to called me
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: into this office the next day and say, congratulations, you're
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: the new beat writer.
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: Away for soccer.
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: When I went to the coach after that and let
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: him know, he said to me, what do you think
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: you've learned? What do you think you should have learned?
- 1:25:59Speaker 3: I said, listen and learn. He said, you didn't play soccer,
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: but you learn from those who do. And as long
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: as you do that, then you're in a position to
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: critique any of us because the knowledge that you're getting
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: is not of your own. It's one that was provided
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: to you. And as long as you make sure.
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: You articulate that, you will be respected because.
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: They know the lens that you're looking through is not
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: that of your own, it's of ours. And I carry
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: that with me for the rest of my career.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: How was it when you started to get those close
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: personal relationships with athletes, like you're obviously covering and now
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: you are. Yeah, I mean you're obviously superstarting out and
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: everybody knows you. But as you're growing and then getting
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: those closer relationships with guys and then having to go
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: on TV and talk about, you know, stuff that as
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: an athlete, you know is like personal to you. How
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: did you start to balance that as your part.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: The parts about your performance never phazed me, because you
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: perform in a public platform. So the games that themselves
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: speak for themselves. You shoot two for twenty, that's on you.
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: You throw three interceptions, that's on you. You fumbled three
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: times or whatever. You get burned and you a cornerback
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: and somebody catches to over two hundred yards on you. Okay,
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: that's on you. I mean, there's nothing I can do
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: for you, and that is what it is. And I
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: don't give a damn about how you feel because that
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: was in a public setting and you put yourself on
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: front street, and that's what you have to deal with.
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: It's the behind the scene.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: Stuff subject to interpretation and perspective, or the personal stuff
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: that I'm very very guarded about because what happens is
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: is that if I have a relationship with you, the
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: assumption is that there's a trust.
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: How do you become friends with people?
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: You do?
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: You become friends with people you have no trust for,
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: you don't believe in at all. You think every word
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: out of their mouth is a damn line. No, that's
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: not what you do. Usually, you cultivate these relationships and
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: there's there's an affinity for one another and a level
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: of trust that's built. So when somebody comes with a
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: different perspective than the person you have a relationship with,
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: and it's an opposition to what they're saying to you,
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: it can get tricky, and at that particular moment in time,
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: you have to remind that friend, that person who's become
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: a friend that you've cultivated.
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: A close relationship with.
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: Look, I've got an obligation to be fair, even if
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: I know or I believe you and I think they
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: may not be telling the truth. They're saying this for
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: the record, now off the record. I ain't gonna do
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: that to you. But if they say to you on
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: the record, you know what, he ain't shit, he's a liar.
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: This is what he did, and blah blah blah. It's
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: not like I can make up a quote.
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: I gotta quote him.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: That's what he said.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: I gotta give it to them, okay, and give you
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: an opportunity to respond. So it can get challenging in
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: that regard, but that really calls for you to remind
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: somebody of your professionalism, your ethics, the responsibility that comes
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: along with the job title that you have. And it
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: also serves as a reminder to that person that trusts you,
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: why did you trust me?
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: To begin with, because I exercise those same.
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: Principles and cultivating the relationship I did with you, I
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: can't go against it just because you're a man.
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: I can't do that.
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: Had those situations of my career before, confronted by those
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: kind of things, whether it be Alan Iverson, Kobe Bryant,
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: Shaquille or Neil Michael Jordan himself.
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: The list goes on and on.
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: You certainly have had those things where people have given
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: their different perspectives aside that would be different from something
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: that they said to me or whatever.
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: And that's the challenge that you have to deal with.
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: But when you're known as being straight up and up
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: and up, what you learn to find from professional athletes
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: that they appreciate most.
- 1:29:24Speaker 4: Is not being blindsided.
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: They see you coming, you know, they ain't open the
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: paper or turn on the TV the next day and
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: utterly shocked by what you're doing. And I think the
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: greatest example of that was Isaiah Thomas when he was
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: the head coach of the New York Knicks. They looked
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: horrible and there was a game in which they lost
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: bout forty five to Boston and Boston and it was
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: the most emotional that I had ever been in my career,
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: because I actually called them up and I almost started
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: crying because he's the person that granted me my first
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: ever interview as a reporter, and I had to call
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: him to let him know tomorrow, I'm calling for you.
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: To be fired.
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: Oh damn, because it was that bad.
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: It was that bad, and I knew that he had
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: a lot going on on a personal level. His mom
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: was dying, and you know, he wasn't all there with
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: the New York Knicks at that particular, so much stuff
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: that was going on in his personal life that he
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: had to deal with that it really didn't give the
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: ideal example of what he was capable of doing as
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: a coach. But the situation had regressed to such a
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: point nobody worth their salt could support him staying on board.
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: And I had to call him to let him know,
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: this is what I'm doing tomorrow. And he said to me,
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: do what you gotta do. Bro, I understand.
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: And is that a common thing for you when do
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: you have a relationship with somebody and that it goes
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: downhill in a certain way where you give them a
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: call and you let them know this is how I'm
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: about to go about business.
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: I'm the kind of person even if I don't have
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: a relationship with you. If I know you and I
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: know I can get in touch. If I know you
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: well enough that I can get in touch with you
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: and I have something say about you, I'm gonna call you.
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: I'm that guy. I'm not that guy that's on TV.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: But never lie when you don't see me in the
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: locker room and stuff anymore. Blame ESPN. You got me
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: doing every damn show, so you know what I'm saying.
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: I'm on the AFI hours. You know I gotta travel
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: to this city that city. I can only do but
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: so much. But everybody that knows me knows I've always
- 1:31:19Speaker 3: had that reputation. I will show up to the games.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: I will show up to the locker rooms. There are
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: times when people would see me lurking on the basketball
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: court and they'd be like, who does he think he is?
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: Like he's walking around the court before the games when
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: guys are on the layup line. They didn't realize the
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: reason I did that is because I knew I had
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: a national television platform, and I knew that I didn't
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: have to be that beat writer with a bunch of
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: reporters surrounding your locker after a game or something like that,
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: but you might want to holler at me. So I
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: wanted to be in their vicinity so if they wanted
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: to speak to me, they can either come over and
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: speak to me, or come over and say, look, call
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: me later, or plan on meet me at this spot
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: later or whatever so we can talk. It was my
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: way of giving them that kind of access to me
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: in case they will to reach me.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: In those in those like uh, in those situations like
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: when you're closer guys have there has there been a
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: relationship of years that has been burned because of uh.
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: Alan Iverson or not didn't talked for eight months. And
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: this is when I was the beat writer. Like for
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: those that don't understand, when you're the beat writer, wherever
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: the team goes, you go every single day, every single practice.
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: You got to cover the team. I was covering the
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: Philadelphia seventy six ers and Alan Iverson and I went
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: eight months without talking. And the only time we talked
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: well a couple of times where he was like fuck
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: you and I like fuck you too, Like literally it
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: was like that you said it back to him, right,
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: Ye're right?
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: I did you know? Because That's how I felt at
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: the time, because I felt he was wrong, you know.
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: But ultimately a friend of his that ultimately was killed
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: the years later, believe it or not, literally got us together.
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: And how do we get together? He had me meet
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: him at the club at two o'clock in the morning.
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: And I met him at the nightclub, and Alon I
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: was looking at me like I was crazy because I
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: showed up by myself. I said, I'm here. I said,
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: I'm here by myself. I said, because I can be.
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: But more importantly, I'm right. I did not do anything wrong.
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: You did, you know? And we had a discussion and
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: we were fine.
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: Bulls claiming that you did wrong.
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: Well, he was writing some articles, some article that I
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: had written. He felt that I should not have written
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: it because I didn't have all the facts. That I
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: didn't get his side, and I was like, you mean
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: after trying to reach you for three days? You mean
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: after trying to talk to you, You mean coming to Fridays,
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: coming to the club, you know, hollering at your friends
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: and all that.
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: I'm like, you knew I was looking for you.
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: I said, your inaccessibility doesn't get to determine my productivity.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: I'm going to do my job. I reached out, I
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: tried to find you. You weren't available. If you were available,
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: I would have told you everything. You would have given
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: me your perspective, and it might have altered my content.
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: You weren't available, and you thought being inaccessible was going
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: to prevent me from doing my job.
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: Well it did it. Lesson learned.
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: Make sure when I'm trying to reach you, I reach
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: you because I'm not.
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: How can I put this.
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: Fellas?
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: I mean, I got a good life. Now.
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: You know, you make a little paper and you know
- 1:34:16Speaker 3: life is cool. You know it's a.
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: Right, you know.
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: But I was never one of those nerdives dudes that
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: needed my career to have a life. I always had
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: a life, excuse my language. I always have shit to do,
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: okay for my own individual pleasures, okay. And I got
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: better things to do with my time to chase your
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: ass around for a story. So if I'm looking for you,
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: and I'm looking for you, and I'm looking for you
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: at some point in time, you better hope I'll find you.
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: If you want to have some influence over the kind
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: of things that I'm going to say, and if you
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: avoid me for too long, that's at your own peril.
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: Now it's now because now I'm on national television and
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: so and we live in the age of streaming in
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: the digital stratosphere. So you know, if you're in the
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: morning and you're getting two hundred and fifty three hundred
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: thousand viewers, that's considered good. Well, I'm doubling up on that.
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: We've been number one for twelve years with a flagship
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: show for the.
- 1:35:17Speaker 4: Network, the worldwide leader.
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: We're number one every day and so I don't have
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: to worry about people watching us now. And then, on
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: top of it all, in the digital stratosphere, me myself
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: and I by myself generate over two billion views annually.
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: You're going to see me, You're going to hear me.
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: Do you want to have some influence over what I
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: say or not? If you talk to me, I have
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: no problem. I have an obligation ethically to listen to
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: what you have to see and to make sure, even
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: if I disagree with you, that the context that you
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: are providing is accurately displayed. If you don't talk to me,
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: that's your damn problem. Oh enough, I follow you absolutely positively.
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: Nothing.
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: All I have to say is whatever I want to say.
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: I tried to reach it for comment, he was unavailable.

- 1:37:10Speaker 1: ZipRecruiter the smartest way to hire. Back to the episode
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: when you're.
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: When you're establishing yourself doing all this, how how did
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: you establish relationships with these athletes and also stay as
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: unbiased as possible and become.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: A straight shooter.
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: When did you start to realize, Okay, I'm finally getting
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: the reputation of who I actually am, and I feel
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: I can be more free to be myself.
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: Well from day one, I always let them know, don't
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: look for any pity from me when it comes to
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: your game, because everyone's watching. If I'm sitting in I'm
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: talking to y'all right now, and we're having a private
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: conversation that's between us, and I can interpret it and
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: I can we can discuss it, and I can shut
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: up about it, go on my merry way, and it's
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: between us. But with these cameras rolling with the world,
- 1:37:59Speaker 3: watch and I can help you. What you say is
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: what you say, What you own is what you own,
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: And it's the same principle when you're watching these guys perform.
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: And so the first order of business is for me
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: to let them know that I'm going to be incredibly
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: objective in calling out what I see on the basketball court.
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: But there are other things that I do. And this
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: is where the relationship really elevated. I'm from the streets
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: of New York City. No, I didn't smoke weed, but
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: I know about getting high because I was surrounded by
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: it all my life.
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: I was surrounded by drugs all my life. I was
- 1:38:31Speaker 4: surrounded by violence all my life.
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: I was surrounded by folks party and all my life
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: all of this other stuff. So all of the things, devices,
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: the temptations and everything like that. I'm a street wise brother.
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: I kind of know. So if you show up to
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: a game, I don't need a test to know if
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: you hide. I'm looking right at you. I know if
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: you hide, I know if you drunk. And then when
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: you dig the way that I dig, Because remember I'm
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: a beat right at the time, you get to know everybody.
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: And this is what people don't realize about people that
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: are beat writers. With a beat writer's nature, you don't
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: only just know the athletes, the coaches, the player personnel,
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: directors of scouts I value. You know their families, you
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: know their friends, you know their hanger on, you know
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: their associates, you know all of that stuff. So just
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: imagine that you're covering sports and you're dealing with twenty
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: year olds and late twenties and early thirties, and imagine
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: the stuff that you're making, all of this money, and
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: the stuff that you might find yourself getting into because
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: you know, you living a life that most people don't
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: get to live. Think about the trouble that brings. You
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: think I didn't know. You think I didn't know that
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: you got traded because you were fucking the same girl
- 1:39:42Speaker 3: as the coach, and the coach one that you're gone.
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: You think I didn't know that the coach couldn't stand
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: you because you tried to came on.
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: You tried to come on to his wife and his
- 1:39:50Speaker 4: wife was interested.
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: Do you think that I don't know that you really
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: really can't stand this dude, because guess what, you wouldn't
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: trade with this team because that former executive used to
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: screw around with your wife and you didn't want anybody
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: to know.
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: That's why when.
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: You remember, if you recall when we were doing the
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: whole Boston Celtics thing where email you Doka got pushed
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: out because of a consensual relationship with somebody, you saw
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: me going ballistic because I was like, oh, that's the
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: first time that happened. I've been in this business for
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: thirty years. Ain't a year that went by that I
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: don't know about people screwing around in the office. It's
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: always happening, like always, But this guy is the one
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: y'all gonna bost Now. That pissed me off because I'm like,
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: there's a code and what I didn't want to say,
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: but I will say any damn way because I'm still
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: getting pissed off about it just thinking about it. It
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: was almost like it's like, wait a minute here, you know,
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: did I bring up the black element? Sure, because there's
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: a whole bunch of white dudes the last time I
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: checked y'all like sex too. You don't saying nobody was
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: telling you on y'all of it. Nobody was doing that
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: to damn right, Ain't nothing wrong with it? So the
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: point is, So the point is I get it.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: I get it.
- 1:41:01Speaker 4: But what really ticked me off as well as that.
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: There's certain codes like if you without getting into details
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: because I don't want to get sued.
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: You kind of.
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: Know that the person that he was with had connections
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: to somebody else within organization? Can I say that? So
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: I'm going like this now is that not the epitome
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: of weakness. As men, your woman, there is nothing around
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: with somebody allegedly right and you victimized in him, Well
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: he want in a relationship with you? She was, but
- 1:41:43Speaker 3: he victimized. But but you're still probably with that person.
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: Really now, I'm saying that as men, we would call
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: a dude out for that. We'd be like, yo, b
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: that's pretty damn weak. I mean, if you couldn't head
- 1:41:59Speaker 3: of your business, you could handle your business. But as
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: wrong as he might have been, unless he was your
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: friend or brother, whatever, he ain't owe.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: It to you.
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: You understand saying she did. But they called him out.
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: And I didn't want to go nuclear at that moment
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: and say that, but that's what I was thinking, like,
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: you know, you got to be pretty damn weak to
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: be instigating this kind of shrapnel against that guy because
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: you didn't handle your business.
- 1:42:27Speaker 4: You know, I'm not fault.
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: I'm not saying she wasn't wrong and he wasn't wrong
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: or whatever.
- 1:42:32Speaker 4: But there was another element to it that came.
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: With it that you saw there was a level of
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: victim of vindictimness and hostility aimed solely at him.
- 1:42:43Speaker 4: Who was not married.
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: And he wasn't involved with you, so why is he
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: the one suffering more than anybody else? That's where I
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: was coming from, And those kind of perspectives you get
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: from seeing a lot and being around a lot and
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: covering and seeing a whole bunch of things that go on.
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: That was the stuff that that noise away at me
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: because I look for consistency. I want fairness. It doesn't
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: matter whether it's right wrong, whatever I understand. We could debate,
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: we can debate it or whatever, but consistency needs to
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: be the order of the day when we're doing this.
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: And that's what I try to bring.
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: When you talk about you, you brought the code it.
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: Obviously it's easy sitting as Steven A Smith right now
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: to go. But when you're a beat writer just trying
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: to scratch and claw for that interview and you know
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: things are going on and you could it'd be very
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: easy for you to get way more clicks or way
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: more whatever by saying, Hey, so and so is cheating
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: with so and so or whatever philandering is going on
- 1:43:38Speaker 2: in this facility. How did you figure out the code? Like,
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: how quickly do you learn that this code exists?
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: Well, for me, it's it's a personal decision. My personal
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: morals and ethics are different than other people. Fellas, there's
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: certain lines I'm just not crossing. I don't know y'all
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: from a canapigin. I'm just meet y'all, happy to get
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: to know y'allther show all the time, watch a couple
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: of times.
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: Y'all do a great job.
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: Man, I could see you doing something that I might
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: deem to be unethical as it pertains to your personal
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: relationship with somebody. Man, it ain't none of my damn business.
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: I might not like it, I might hold it in,
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: but I'm not diming you out.
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: I'm just not doing it. It's none of my business.
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: Now you're on a football field, you play like garbage.
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: That's different.
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: I'm gonna say that you unders and by the way
- 1:44:26Speaker 3: and by the way, and by the way and by
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: the way if you do that, because we've seen people.
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: I've seen people show up the games and you look sluggish.
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: The audience didn't know you was screwing somebody two hours ago,
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: but I did because I knew her.
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: See what I'm saying.
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: So I'm not gonna tell on you, but I'm gonna
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: go like this. I don't know what was wrong with them.
- 1:44:56Speaker 3: He seemed a bit slow, you know, legs seem to
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: be there, you know, way of letting him know, Man,
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: I know what you did.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: It's the matter with you.
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: You couldn't wait till after the game.
- 1:45:05Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: That's how I've done or a guy that you know what,
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: you're on a source a little bit. You're drinking a
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: little bit too much alcohol. You know, he's supposed to
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: be doing that. You're supposed to do that the night before,
- 1:45:16Speaker 3: not an hour, but not the hour before the game,
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: you know, And I'm like, I'm looking at you like
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: you know, you didn't seem like yourself.
- 1:45:22Speaker 4: You seemed a little bit off kilter.
- 1:45:24Speaker 3: And you know they raised the eyebrow because they know
- 1:45:27Speaker 3: what I'm alluding to the audience. Doesn't you see what
- 1:45:30Speaker 3: I'm saying. But I'll do stuff that's to let him know.
- 1:45:32Speaker 3: Yeah I could, but I'm not. But don't think I
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: don't know. Come on, man, do your.
- 1:45:36Speaker 4: Job, do your job, and then afterward live your life.
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: And so you know I've been doing stuff like that,
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: you know throughout my career. The difference between me now
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: and then you got some of these athletes can't stand
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: my ass, hate my ass, whatever case may, because they
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: see me on TV. They don't have a relationship with me.
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: For the reason why is because I'm stuck in studio
- 1:45:54Speaker 3: and I can't get to the games the way that
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: I used to as many gigs. I used to go
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: to like two hundred, like one hundred and one hundred
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: and twenty five games a year. Now I have to
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: cut that in half because of my schedule. But the
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: reason why they could feel that way now compared to
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: the way they were before is because before this was me,
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: I'd roll right up into the locker room.
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: You seem like you got a problem. What's up?
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: You can't possibly have a problem, How could you possibly
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: have a problem?
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: You know, what the hell you did?
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: And I would roll up on them like that.
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: I remember years ago, mad love and respect for John Wall,
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: but John Wall I was doing first take. John Wall
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: walked up and he was like, you know, I just
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: wish Cassa, you know, Stephen Ay, you know, you know,
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: say something on TV, be man enough to you know,
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: come to the locker room knowing good and damn well.
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: I couldn't get to Washington that day.
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: Man brother said that stuff. Man, I took off my
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: microphone a good commercial break.
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: I flew to DC.
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: I was in front of his locker that night, Like
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: what like, I'm scared to do my job. It's not
- 1:46:56Speaker 3: not talking about no fighting or anything like you're acting
- 1:46:59Speaker 3: like I'm scared to do my job.
- 1:47:01Speaker 4: This is my job.
- 1:47:02Speaker 3: I am not scared to do my job ever. Ever,
- 1:47:05Speaker 3: this is my job. Personal stuff is beyond the scope
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: of the job. That's off, that's wrong. You know, somebody
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: disrespecting your family member, your girls are no. No, you
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: want you want to bust the ass. Can't have that
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: because you violating codes. But me just doing my job.
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: If you can't play, you can't play. You play like garbage.
- 1:47:24Speaker 4: You play like garbage. You messing up. You're messing up
- 1:47:26Speaker 4: me scared to do that.
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: Anybody that implies that they're gonna see me in front
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: of that locker room, They're gonna see me in front
- 1:47:33Speaker 3: of that I'd walk in the middle of the Dallas
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: cowboyd locker room after a game if they said something
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: like that about me, you got to be crazy, because
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: that's the job. And I'm never gonna be scared to
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: do my job.
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: We interrupt this episode to bring you good Job. Everyone
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: wants to start their year off on the right foot,

- 1:49:19Speaker 1: busting one twenty. Good job, it's the good stuff. Back
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: to the f side. Your first big break getting into
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: national television? Can you talk about that and then also
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: seeing it transcend into what it's become and obviously the
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: the the the spotlight of stephn A. Smith. But when
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: was your first big break on when you do hit
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: that national television scene.
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: I think when people would say when it was CNNSI,
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: which was a big deal because I was on the
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: NBA show on Sunday mornings. But I would say the
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: real big break was when I went to Fox Sports
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: Television because it was before the formation of the best
- 1:49:57Speaker 3: damn Sports show period and I on their National Sports
- 1:50:01Speaker 3: They had their National Sports Desk. Kevin Frazier, who's now
- 1:50:05Speaker 3: at Entertainment Tonight, was one of the hosts, along with
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: various others. He's a dear friend of mine, and I
- 1:50:10Speaker 3: went there. Jim Rome had Rome is the last word
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: I believe was the name of the show when he
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: came to ESPN. It was Rome as Burning, which is
- 1:50:18Speaker 3: always a great name. I always loved that name. But
- 1:50:20Speaker 3: I was there, and Jim Rome would bring me into
- 1:50:23Speaker 3: his office after shows and talk to me and give
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: me guidance, you know, about some of the minefields to
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: maneuver through and kind of things to watch out for,
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: which I was always greatly appreciative for. And so I
- 1:50:34Speaker 3: would call that my first big break because being in
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: television and making that kind of noise when ESPN was
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: so prolific, that was one thing, But then the creation
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: of the best damn sports show period. They offered me
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: the job full time. I turned it down, which is
- 1:50:50Speaker 3: how John Sally got offered the job. The reason I
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: turned it down is because I knew that my aspirations
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: would end up at ESPN one day. I knew in
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: order to achieve that, I had to be taken seriously
- 1:51:03Speaker 3: and I would never be able to be taken seriously
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: if I was sitting next to a comedian that was
- 1:51:08Speaker 3: Tom Arnold every day. I'm not talking about him specifically,
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: I'm talking about any comedian. It was a comedic show,
- 1:51:15Speaker 3: or at least they aspired for it to be that way,
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: and for me to go there and sit next to
- 1:51:20Speaker 3: him every day. I knew esthetically, optics wise, that would
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: not be a good look if I wanted to be
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: taken seriously. So I declined to play that role on
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: that show and instead elected simply to be an NBA
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: insider for that network, and lo and behold. A year later,
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: ESPN came calling, and two thousand and three I landed
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: at ESPN and everything is taken off since then?
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: How do you get to that conclusion with best day
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: of sports show period, where they're offering you a job,
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: they're offering you probably more money than you've been making before,
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: and to have the wherewithal to sit there and be like, tactically,
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: strategically in this video game of life I'm playing, this
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: is not the move to make, all though it's better
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: right now than it is.
- 1:52:04Speaker 3: Same thing you're doing now. You're playing a long game,
- 1:52:07Speaker 3: you know, clicks would be nice. Views per episode would
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: be nice. A subscriber base that builds is something that
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: you want. We all know what the business entails. But
- 1:52:18Speaker 3: if you want to do something and just be a
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: one off, that's entirely different than building a career that's sustainable.
- 1:52:26Speaker 3: And for me, I always played the long game. I
- 1:52:29Speaker 3: still do. I think ahead.
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: Somebody asked me the other day, they say, yo, man,
- 1:52:35Speaker 3: what did you do when you got your contract in
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: twenty eighteen?
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: I said, I went home.
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: I was a little sad for a little while because
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: I had lost my mom a year earlier. God rest
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: her soul after long battle with cancer. And I said,
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: so I licked my wounds there because I was sad
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: because I knew the kind of money that I was earning,
- 1:52:57Speaker 3: what I was going to be able to do for
- 1:52:59Speaker 3: her if she had been alive, and I had never
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: had a chance to do that, you know, for what
- 1:53:04Speaker 3: I would have been able to do for half.
- 1:53:05Speaker 4: I signed that contract.
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: But then ultimately I spent some time with my sisters
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: and you know, and my family, my daughters and everything
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: like that for the weekend.
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: That Monday morning, I woke up.
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: And they said, what were you thinking about I said
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: my next contract, and I wasn't playing. I knew that
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: I had five and a half years to go, and
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: I was thinking about five and a half years down
- 1:53:30Speaker 3: the road. What am I going to do and where
- 1:53:32Speaker 3: am I going to be in five and a half years.
- 1:53:35Speaker 3: And that is my mentality always to try to maintain three, five,
- 1:53:40Speaker 3: ten steps ahead, to see the forest from the trees,
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: to anticipate the kind of things that are going to happen.
- 1:53:46Speaker 3: So I'm not lost in the shuffle and we're not
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: rewinding the clock back to two thousand and nine where
- 1:53:51Speaker 3: I'm asked out, unemployed, wondering what my prospects are, wondering
- 1:53:56Speaker 3: whether or not I have any living off my savings,
- 1:53:59Speaker 3: and knowing that I had about six to eight months
- 1:54:01Speaker 3: to survive on that. My goal is to never be
- 1:54:04Speaker 3: in that position again. And so I think like that.
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: What is your vision? What are your vision for yourself
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: down the road? Like you know, obviously you signed the
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: massive deal with ESPN, You're Steven A. Smith, You've come
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: out with the podcast. Everybody knows this media landscape on
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: the leveraging and building your own platform. Okay, I'm on
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: this massive network. You might think you're building me up,
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: Let me go show you how I can do it
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: on my own as well. What is the north star
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: look like for you five ten years done there?
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: Well, the north star for me is to have that
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: level of independence, to establish it in such a way
- 1:54:34Speaker 3: where I'm there because I want to be there, not
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: because I need to be there. I love working for
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: Disney and ESPN. I love being associated with the world
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: of sports. I think that's one of the five pillars
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: in this nation that you want to attach yourself to
- 1:54:47Speaker 3: if you can pull it off. And I'm certainly not
- 1:54:49Speaker 3: interested in giving that up. But I'm neither going to
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: lie nor be apologetic about what I want for myself.
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: I've done a lot at ESPN. My contract's up in
- 1:55:02Speaker 3: seventeen months. I'm interested in staying if I have the
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: opportunity to do an abundance of other things that I
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: want to do. If that opportunity doesn't present itself, then
- 1:55:16Speaker 3: I'll have decisions to make, and so will they. I
- 1:55:20Speaker 3: own my own production company. I'm producing a docu series. Actually,
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: it comes out later this month as a three part
- 1:55:26Speaker 3: series on the history of sports commentators. I've got another
- 1:55:30Speaker 3: series that has been green lit a drama series that
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: I've created that I'm not at liberty to talk about,
- 1:55:34Speaker 3: but it has nothing to do with Disney or ESPN.
- 1:55:37Speaker 3: I've created a drama series that's coming out. I've got
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: my podcast, which is not really a podcast, it's a show.
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: Why Because I spent my own money and seven figures
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: to build my own television studio. I want people to
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: look at it and think hybrid. It not linear, it's
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: not digital. It could be both. You want a linear
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: sports show, got you? You want a sports digital show?
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: Got you? You want a podcast? Got you? You want
- 1:56:02Speaker 3: a late night show done? You want an afternoon talk show? Fine.
- 1:56:06Speaker 3: You want me to be another version of PTI or
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: something like that, good. You want another creation of First
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: Take Fine? You want me to create a weekly format
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: show that would rival Real Time with Bill Maher or
- 1:56:18Speaker 3: The John Oliver Show or The Daily Show. Fine, whatever
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: it is, I can do it, because I've shown I
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: can do it. And so that's where my mentality is
- 1:56:29Speaker 3: having the doors open, the opportunities available to me, and
- 1:56:33Speaker 3: being in the position to explore things that I may
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: have never imagined because I never knew it was available
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: to me, because all anybody thought about when they saw
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: me with sports. Now they don't think like that anymore.
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: They see my range. So who's to say whether it's
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: me or somebody else that wants to work with me
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: comes forth with a level of creativity and ingenuity necessary
- 1:56:56Speaker 3: to say, stephen A, is what we think we could
- 1:56:58Speaker 3: do with you and for you, is the kind of
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: money that you can make. Because the one thing I
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: will never apologize for I am about my money. I
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: want to get paid. I ain't apologizing for that shit
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: to anybody. I'm not talking about Disney, I'm not talking
- 1:57:14Speaker 3: about ESPN. I'm talking about colleagues, contemporaries, people who have
- 1:57:21Speaker 3: been in this business, who knows what it takes to succeed.
- 1:57:24Speaker 3: Look at my resume, look at what I've accomplished. Oh,
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: make no mistake. I intend to get paid.
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: I can tell you that right now on this on YouTube,
- 1:57:35Speaker 2: when we post this black and white music behind it
- 1:57:39Speaker 2: self titles the whole thing that is going to go.
- 1:57:41Speaker 2: I want to see a breakfast episode to bring you
- 1:57:43Speaker 2: Ashley dude it. Ashley has great quality stuff on trend,
- 1:57:46Speaker 2: comfortable and affordable, perfect seating to watch the game or
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: gaming with your friends. Our episode today is with us
- 1:57:52Speaker 2: Steven A.
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: Smith.
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: You see those coashy seats, You see what we're sitting in.
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: That is Ashley. We were spending I don't know what
- 1:57:58Speaker 2: fifteen hour days up and around pods after pods after pods.
- 1:58:02Speaker 2: That are pods trying to give you people what you
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: love most, which is interviews with amazing guests and Ashley
- 1:58:07Speaker 2: furniture made our toushes feel like it was in a
- 1:58:10Speaker 2: safe safe hands. Dude, he was a favorite. Used code
- 1:58:13Speaker 2: barstool to save online at Ashley dot Com. The fun
- 1:58:17Speaker 2: part about that call to action is that you don't
- 1:58:19Speaker 2: know how much you're saving, but if you use a
- 1:58:20Speaker 2: code barstool, you're gonna find out Ashley dot Com. Let's
- 1:58:23Speaker 2: get back to this episode.
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: Nuts. I know you, I know you gotta leave.
- 1:58:26Speaker 2: But obviously the competitive drive the why ever you have
- 1:58:29Speaker 2: literally everything, and in sports, when you're on a team,
- 1:58:32Speaker 2: your goal is to win the.
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: Super Bowl or the NBA Championship, all these different things.
- 1:58:35Speaker 2: You're competing against other teams, but also internally in the
- 1:58:40Speaker 2: on the team you're at, you're competing with the guys
- 1:58:43Speaker 2: around you.
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: And so ESPN comes in.
- 1:58:45Speaker 2: You talked about two billion views, you talked about being
- 1:58:47Speaker 2: the man number one for twelve years, and you see
- 1:58:49Speaker 2: ESPN making a pivot to McAfee, obviously great for the network.
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: How do you, in your mindset view a guy like McAfee,
- 1:58:57Speaker 2: who is extremely good at his job in a lot
- 1:58:59Speaker 2: of ways, is changing the course of mainstream media and
- 1:59:01Speaker 2: all those things from a competitive standpoint.
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: Also as a partner, I am an aberration in this regard.
- 1:59:09Speaker 3: I love Pat McAfee, love the death, love the death.
- 1:59:13Speaker 3: I love his swag. I love the fact that he's
- 1:59:19Speaker 3: an honest brother. He don't give a shit. Lets you
- 1:59:21Speaker 3: know exactly where he's staying. That's my kind of dude.
- 1:59:23Speaker 3: That works for me now as he as polished politically
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: as me. Nope, because he has no desire to be
- 1:59:29Speaker 3: number one and number two.
- 1:59:31Speaker 4: If we're being honest. He's white and I'm black. He
- 1:59:33Speaker 4: didn't have to be.
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: I had to be.
- 1:59:35Speaker 3: So I get all of that, and I'm not knocking
- 1:59:37Speaker 3: him for it. I get it. Pat McAfee is a
- 1:59:40Speaker 3: sensational talent, and it would be stupid for me not
- 1:59:44Speaker 3: to root for him because he's one of the pioneers
- 1:59:48Speaker 3: in this business, just like Bill Simmons is just like
- 1:59:51Speaker 3: Joe Rogan is in others what they have done for
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: themselves in the digital stratospy, it speaks for itself.
- 1:59:59Speaker 4: I'm new to this baby I got.
- 2:00:01Speaker 3: I'm approaching five hundred and fifty thousand subscribers in ten
- 2:00:04Speaker 3: ten and a half months. People see me, Oh my god,
- 2:00:07Speaker 3: you're averaging over two thousand subscribers a day.
- 2:00:09Speaker 4: And look at the views forever. So it's just climbing
- 2:00:11Speaker 4: and climbing.
- 2:00:12Speaker 3: And look at the consistency to growth, especially by God Bailey,
- 2:00:14Speaker 3: the social media gurule. I mean these strategies. He's painting
- 2:00:17Speaker 3: this beautiful picture every day. I'm looking at the fact
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: that my numbers pale in comparison to those folks who
- 2:00:23Speaker 3: have been there and have like a four or five,
- 2:00:25Speaker 3: seven eight year head start on me. Why because I'm
- 2:00:29Speaker 3: looking at who's number one?
- 2:00:30Speaker 4: And why? Okay?
- 2:00:32Speaker 3: But in the same breath, don't get it twisted. I
- 2:00:35Speaker 3: love Pat pet knows that I'm rooting for him. I
- 2:00:38Speaker 3: help him anyway. I can't help him. But we know
- 2:00:42Speaker 3: who number one in linear television is.
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: You know, way.
- 2:00:45Speaker 4: Backseat, You've been number one for twelve years.
- 2:00:48Speaker 3: People come, people go, people come, people stay.
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: But there's a top perch.
- 2:00:56Speaker 4: Now you could take it away knock on wood.
- 2:00:58Speaker 3: It could be next year, be next week, it could
- 2:01:00Speaker 3: be two years, five years from now, whatever. But since
- 2:01:03Speaker 3: twenty twelve, it's been me with Skip Payler's, with Adam,
- 2:01:09Speaker 3: with Max Kellerman, with Adam, with a potpourrie of contributes.
- 2:01:13Speaker 4: It don't matter.
- 2:01:14Speaker 3: I come to win, and when it comes to linear television,
- 2:01:17Speaker 3: that's exactly what the fuck I have done. And so
- 2:01:20Speaker 3: my attitude is, as long as I'm doing it, I'm
- 2:01:22Speaker 3: gonna continue to win. McAfee or no McAfee, get up
- 2:01:26Speaker 3: or no get up, It don't matter who it is,
- 2:01:28Speaker 3: FS One, Comcast, whatever you come for me, I'm coming
- 2:01:31Speaker 3: for you. I'm here to win. Digital is different because
- 2:01:35Speaker 3: I'm a baby, I'm crawling. I'm an infant. You understand
- 2:01:39Speaker 3: I'm saying I ain't even learn how to walk yet.
- 2:01:40Speaker 3: You understand them saying let alone run and sprint. But
- 2:01:45Speaker 3: once I get to that point, I'm a comfort folks
- 2:01:47Speaker 3: then too. But in the process of doing so, it
- 2:01:50Speaker 3: will never be to root for them to fail. And
- 2:01:53Speaker 3: that's why I'm very guarded when people sit up there
- 2:01:55Speaker 3: and they try to remember Dan Levata said one time,
- 2:01:58Speaker 3: you know he wants to ruin Skip's career, and he
- 2:02:00Speaker 3: had to retract that statement because that's totally false. I
- 2:02:03Speaker 3: never want Skip to fail. I just don't want him
- 2:02:06Speaker 3: to be number one over me. Same thing with Keith Shawn,
- 2:02:09Speaker 3: Michael IRV and Richard Shermanham. These are my boys. I
- 2:02:12Speaker 3: don't want them to fail, but they know who's trying
- 2:02:15Speaker 3: to be number one. And look, these are Hall of famers,
- 2:02:18Speaker 3: these A super Bowl champions. When they roll up over there, yeah, man,
- 2:02:23Speaker 3: we know you, I said. You know I'm coming for you, right,
- 2:02:25Speaker 3: You know you know you don't expect to beat me.
- 2:02:28Speaker 3: You understand now. Of course, one day somebody can. Hell,
- 2:02:32Speaker 3: it could be them with somebody else, But all in fun,
- 2:02:36Speaker 3: I'm letting them know I don't ever root against you.
- 2:02:40Speaker 3: I don't ever want you to fail. But in the
- 2:02:42Speaker 3: same breath, it is perfectly within my right to want
- 2:02:44Speaker 3: to be number one. And I want to be that
- 2:02:47Speaker 3: guy that's at the top of the perch that reaches
- 2:02:49Speaker 3: back white and black, finding young talent folks on a
- 2:02:52Speaker 3: come up, inspiring and motivating and assisting others in being
- 2:02:58Speaker 3: their best selves. But do I want you to be
- 2:03:00Speaker 3: better than me? No? No, And I'm gonna do everything
- 2:03:04Speaker 3: that I can to make sure you're not better than me.
- 2:03:07Speaker 4: I've done it in linear television.
- 2:03:09Speaker 3: I'm going to continue to do it in linear television
- 2:03:13Speaker 3: at least as long as I have a contract to
- 2:03:15Speaker 3: do so, and hopefully I'll be able to do it
- 2:03:18Speaker 3: in the digital stratospy as well, and then after that.
- 2:03:21Speaker 2: It's kind of production we're doing around here that we're
- 2:03:23Speaker 2: trying to throw in this talking about being the one
- 2:03:26Speaker 2: Steve A.
- 2:03:26Speaker 1: This has been an honor man, Thank you so much.
- 2:03:29Speaker 2: I wish we had a longer time. I don't know
- 2:03:31Speaker 2: if you saw on the internet all black verus all White.
- 2:03:33Speaker 4: Team, Okay, I did not see.
- 2:03:35Speaker 1: You didn't see that.
- 2:03:36Speaker 4: I did not see.
- 2:03:36Speaker 1: Have been something you be covering, you know that one.
- 2:03:39Speaker 2: And if you look at the old White team except
- 2:03:41Speaker 2: for that backing on defense, not.
- 2:03:43Speaker 1: A bad squad.
- 2:03:44Speaker 4: I'll check it out. I'll check it out.
- 2:03:45Speaker 2: I think I think the Buns squads minus twenty four
- 2:03:48Speaker 2: and a half when we go well over it. But
- 2:03:49Speaker 2: it'll be all right, okay, hey.
- 2:03:50Speaker 3: We'll get your many much all im siate y'all man,
- 2:03:53Speaker 3: all the best of both of y'all man, keep doing
- 2:03:55Speaker 3: the great job been doing.
- 2:03:56Speaker 1: We'll be seeing you soon, all right, Yes, sir, take
- 2:03:58Speaker 1: ca
