- 0:00Hello and welcome to the Everyday Eurasia podcast,
- 0:04Inspiring Faith for Every Day. Each day we are on a journey
- 0:08with Jesus in our churches, our homes, our workplaces, and in so
- 0:13many different places around the world.
- 0:16Is it beautiful that no matter where we are, we can walk with
- 0:20him every single day? Jesus is the one who connects us
- 0:24all and stands at the very center of our lives day after
- 0:28day. Through this podcast, you'll
- 0:30hear voices from across the region sharing devotionals that
- 0:34reminds us of God's presence in our everyday moments.
- 0:43This week, we take time to reflect on the heart of our
- 0:46mission. The Church of the Nursery is a
- 0:48missional church. Everything we do is centered on
- 0:51sharing hope, faith, and love across borders, from one
- 0:55community to another. At the center of this global
- 0:58movement is the World Evangelism Funds.
- 1:01It serves as the backbone of our work, making it possible for us
- 1:05to be present where we are needed to support churches and
- 1:09to reach people all around the world.
- 1:11Through this fund, we remain faithful to our mission, making
- 1:15Christ like disciples in the nations, raising up people who
- 1:18live and love like Christ in every culture and every country.
- 1:23Today we will listen to Global Missions Director Jim Ritchie.
- 1:27Hello, dear friends. This is Jim, the Global Missions
- 1:31Director. I'm here in my office in Lenexa
- 1:34in Kansas, and this morning I'm thinking about the World
- 1:37Evangelism Fund. Now, in my role, I get a unique
- 1:41perspective of what the fund is and what it does, and really
- 1:45it's the most important way that the whole church can be involved
- 1:50in supporting mission all over the world.
- 1:53In my ministry in the Church of the Nazarene, I've been a local
- 1:56pastor, a district Superintendent, a regional
- 2:00director, and they're a global missions director.
- 2:03And in each of those areas, I've seen the incredible impact that
- 2:06mission makes, but the incredible impact that
- 2:09partnership makes between the local church and global mission.
- 2:14And we can pray for mission. We can send people in mission,
- 2:19we can give to mission. And that's what the World
- 2:22Evangelism Fund does. It is our privilege to say we
- 2:26are together, we are supporting mission, and we are giving all
- 2:30we have to enable people to go and do all that God has called
- 2:33them to do. Now, when you give locally and
- 2:37you give globally, I believe that you're fulfilling not only
- 2:40the Great Commission to send people to go, but also you're
- 2:45blessing your local ministry because whenever we get
- 2:49activated in mission globally, it really raises the bar locally
- 2:54and vice versa. And so giving is an incredible
- 2:58important component in all of that.
- 3:01I've got a passage from Luke chapter 6 to share with you now.
- 3:05You'll all know the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew five to
- 3:08seven. Well, around Luke 6, we have
- 3:11what we call the Sermon on the Plain, similar teaching, but not
- 3:14exactly the same, but but kind of shorter chunks of Kingdom
- 3:18teaching from Jesus to his disciples.
- 3:21If you don't know it, read it. It's wonderful.
- 3:23But right in the heart of that, Jesus says this, he says give
- 3:27and it will be given to you. A good measure pressed down,
- 3:32shaken together, running over and poured into your lap.
- 3:37For with the measure you give, it will be measured to you.
- 3:40Now, there's two ways to interpret that.
- 3:43The first is, yeah, if we give, we're going to get back wrong.
- 3:46That's not what Jesus meant. What Jesus meant was the more we
- 3:50give, the more we bless others, the more that God by his
- 3:53goodness and mercy blesses us. So if you want an opportunity to
- 3:58be blessed, go and bless somebody else and just see what
- 4:01happens. It's like Kingdom economy that
- 4:04we don't give to get, but because we give, God trusts us
- 4:08and says, OK, I see your heart and I'm going to give you even
- 4:12more. A good measure.
- 4:15Pressed down, shaken together, running over, poured into your
- 4:20lap. I mean, that's great imagery,
- 4:22isn't it, that we have this goodness of God that he pours on
- 4:27our life. And where it starts is that when
- 4:30we give to others, and of course we, we don't just give money, we
- 4:34give time, we give grace, we give forgiveness, we give
- 4:37compassion, we give the heart of the gospel.
- 4:41But giving in God's economy always equals blessing, blessing
- 4:46for others and blessing for us. So if you're a local church
- 4:51member, or if you're a pastor or a leader or a district
- 4:55Superintendent, or you're involved in the church in any
- 4:58way that you're involved, please know that you play a vital role
- 5:03because we're A-Team, we're a body, we all contribute.
- 5:06And when we contribute, when we give together, when we go
- 5:11together, when we pray together, it really does make a huge
- 5:15difference. Now in Global Missions right
- 5:17now, we are focusing on another a number of key priorities #1 we
- 5:23want to communicate all that God is doing, and we want to tell
- 5:27the church what he's doing through mission.
- 5:29And the reason I want to do that is because if you don't know
- 5:31about something, you can't care about it.
- 5:33But when you do know about it and when you do care about it,
- 5:36you want to be involved in it and you want to pray for it and
- 5:39you want to give to it, the second priority is raising up a
- 5:44new generation. I want to see a generation who
- 5:47see the mission of God to the world as part of not only their
- 5:52calling, but it's their problem. Jesus said you go, not somebody
- 5:57else, you go. It's called the Great
- 5:59Commission, not the great suggestion.
- 6:01He's saying go and make happen all the good things that I am
- 6:05working with you for. And that is vital that we raise
- 6:09a generation who has the same heart and passion for mission
- 6:13that many of us have for many, many years.
- 6:15And of course, the third thing is that how we can actually
- 6:18equip and how we how we can provide and how we can support
- 6:23missionaries all over the world. And that's what the World
- 6:27Evangelism Fund does. And that is something that we're
- 6:30all in together. So I want to encourage you that
- 6:33missions is going on really well all over the world.
- 6:36God is making a difference. People are coming to know Jesus.
- 6:40People are being saved, people are being healed, communities
- 6:43are being brought together, transformed.
- 6:46The gospel is going to the ends of the earth and we need your
- 6:51support. We need to do it together.
- 6:53And remember the passage that Jesus has given us this morning.
- 6:56The good measure pressed down, shaken together, running over,
- 7:00poured into your lap. So the measure that we give, let
- 7:04us see God give us a measure of his Kingdom and of his goodness,
- 7:09of his blessing in our lives as we say.
- 7:11Yes, Lord, here am I, send me, here am I use me, here's what I
- 7:16have. I give to you.
- 7:18Just like the little lad with the loaves and fishes.
- 7:21It's all he had, but it was all that God needed.
- 7:24So we give them what we have and God will do the rest.
- 7:28May God bless you, bless your ministry, bless all that you're
- 7:31doing, and thank you so much for being a partner with us in
- 7:35missions and in the World Evangelism Fund.
- 7:38I love you, I thank God for you, and I pray God's greatest
- 7:41blessing on you in Jesus name, Amen.
