Speaker 4: Let's start off, where were you born? Born in Philadelphia?
• 2:15
Speaker 1: I give the year girls, nineteen hundreds. We're gonna go
• 2:25
Speaker 1: with the nineteen hundreds. We're gonna let the nineteen.
• 2:26
  Speaker 4: Hundred baby period.
• 2:28
Speaker 1: Okay, born and Raisin born and raised in Philly. Let's
• 2:33
Speaker 1: say moved to Italy, started second grade there. So what
• 2:37
  Speaker 1: was I about?
• 2:37
  Speaker 4: Like?
• 2:38
Speaker 1: Seven? I want I say six seven because my kids
• 2:40
Speaker 1: always take six seven ruined everything everything, But I don't really
• 2:46
Speaker 1: how much I say it six.
• 2:48
Speaker 2: It's like six seven. You have to say it at
• 2:50
Speaker 2: some point, like kids, just.
• 2:53
Speaker 4: Let us be greater.
• 2:54
Speaker 1: Hopefully we just ruined it and they'll stop think we're
• 2:57
  Speaker 1: doing that.
• 2:58
  Speaker 4: Correct.
• 2:58
Speaker 1: Seven you were in Italy. Okay, yep, second grade, brother
• 3:03
Speaker 1: started first grade, my sister third. So we were like stairstep.
• 3:07
Speaker 4: What part of Italy?
• 3:09
Speaker 1: We moved to Pistoia first, which is by like Reaty,
• 3:14
Speaker 1: which is the kind of in the middle.
• 3:16
Speaker 5: I love Italy, so we love Italy.
• 3:21
Speaker 1: Like girls trip my girls.
• 3:25
Speaker 4: We went to Rome for four days and we'll talk
• 3:28
Speaker 4: here about it later, but we'll go back. Okay to Italy.
• 3:31
Speaker 1: So Italy. I think it was just a huge change
• 3:35
Speaker 1: for us. I mean just not speaking the language at
• 3:39
Speaker 1: all and being thrust into this, you know, school, like immediately,
• 3:42
Speaker 1: my parents weren't like you're going to international school where
• 3:45
Speaker 1: you speak predominantly English. Literally went to an Italian speaking school,
• 3:51
Speaker 1: nuns in all like literally like a Catherine. Yes, it
• 3:54
Speaker 1: was totally different. I remember my parents dropping us off
• 3:58
Speaker 1: and it's like, okay, have a good day. I just
• 4:00
Speaker 1: remember crying, like literally, like but it was the best
• 4:05
Speaker 1: thing ever because you're literally in it and you're forced
• 4:08
Speaker 1: to learn a language, and when you're that young, you're
• 4:10
Speaker 1: just a sponge, so you just soak everything in, which
• 4:14
Speaker 1: was great. So very thankful for that experience.
• 4:16
Speaker 4: Give us an Italian phrase, like anything what is it?
• 4:21
Speaker 4: Let see try I'm over here like bones.
• 4:29
Speaker 1: Okay, okay, pasta, that's all I got.
• 4:43
Speaker 2: My name is How long did it take you to
• 4:45
  Speaker 2: learn the language?
• 4:47
Speaker 1: It was fairly quick. I think we're like I said,
• 4:49
Speaker 1: you're that young. You just soak it all in. So,
• 4:52
Speaker 1: I mean at some point myself and my siblings we
• 4:54
Speaker 1: would just talk all the time in Italian. My parents
• 4:56
Speaker 1: are like whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on now because
• 4:58
Speaker 1: we don't understand live go to English in the house.
• 5:01
Speaker 4: Yeah, English in the house.
• 5:02
Speaker 1: It was quick. I would probably say a couple of months.
• 5:05
Speaker 1: Really made four or five months, but really soak it
• 5:08
Speaker 1: in where we're doing homework and things like that. Probably
• 5:11
  Speaker 1: a good year. I'll say a year and a half
• 5:14
Speaker 1: to fully understand pretty quick.
• 5:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, to learn a whole language in a year.
• 5:19
Speaker 4: I took Spanish for and I said, four year old,
• 5:22
Speaker 4: I still don't know Spanish that well. I need to
• 5:24
Speaker 4: know okay, but that's beautiful okay, see yeah, yeah we
• 5:28
Speaker 4: could change that though, Yeah.
• 5:30
  Speaker 1: I need to.
• 5:30
Speaker 4: So you spent ho So you spent how many years
• 5:32
Speaker 4: in Italy? And then when did you come back to.
• 5:33
Speaker 1: The same So we spent eight years in Italy where
• 5:37
Speaker 1: my dad played. And then I don't know if people
• 5:39
Speaker 1: know this, but we moved to France. So my dad
• 5:43
Speaker 1: played basketball in France for a little bit as well,
• 5:45
Speaker 1: like towards the end of his career. And there we
• 5:49
Speaker 1: went to an international school in Basel in Switzerland. I know,
• 5:54
Speaker 1: because at that point we were older, right, so we're
• 5:56
Speaker 1: going to pick up a whole new language as well
• 5:58
Speaker 1: and start speaking French. So they didn't want to put
• 6:00
Speaker 1: us into a French speaking school, so we went to
• 6:03
Speaker 1: international school where the language was English, and then you
• 6:06
Speaker 1: had everybody else from all other countries as well, so
• 6:09
Speaker 1: and that was fun.
• 6:11
Speaker 4: That's awesome fun. So Switzerland was your favorite.
• 6:15
Speaker 1: As far as school, yes, because there were so many
• 6:17
Speaker 1: different cultures and you know, people there from Turkey, from Africa,
• 6:23
Speaker 1: from you know, Germany, just everywhere. So it was really cool.
• 6:25
Speaker 4: Do you go back to visit?
• 6:27
Speaker 1: I haven't been back, but I told my kids that
• 6:29
Speaker 1: we need to Italy. Yes, Okay, my kids have not
• 6:32
Speaker 1: been yet. I just don't know. They'll be like, is
• 6:35
Speaker 1: their WiFi? You know what I mean? Like I'll be like, yes,
• 6:38
Speaker 1: like what are we doing?
• 6:41
Speaker 4: Kind of like Okay, So when you move back to
• 6:43
Speaker 4: the States. Did you go back to Philly or La.
• 6:46
Speaker 1: Nope, we went right back to Philly. Okay, So I
• 6:48
Speaker 1: started freshman year and then that was such a culture shock,
• 6:53
Speaker 1: by the way, I'm sure, I mean lockers, Like all
• 6:57
Speaker 1: we saw was was staved by the belly, right, So
• 7:00
Speaker 1: that's all I knew. Kind of just trying to understand
• 7:02
Speaker 1: that whole dynamic lockers. That was the anxiety for me.
• 7:05
Speaker 1: I'm like, what happens if I don't remember my coat?
• 7:07
Speaker 4: Like, what happens if I don't do this? Be fine?
• 7:11
Speaker 1: And I think just trying to find our way in
• 7:13
Speaker 1: our space because we came back. We dressed so different too, right,
• 7:17
  Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know I had cross colors. I
• 7:19
Speaker 1: thought that was cool.
• 7:21
  Speaker 4: Cross colors.
• 7:21
Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm old.
• 7:22
  Speaker 4: Jesus cross colors.
• 7:27
Speaker 1: What is that like brand?
• 7:30
Speaker 5: So you were born in the nineties, that's why it
• 7:32
Speaker 5: was like a nineties brand. I know.
• 7:34
Speaker 4: I'm sorry, y'all, Okay, you're not old. My cross colors.
• 7:39
Speaker 1: I was rocketed too.
• 7:41
Speaker 4: I thought they were trying to bring it back at
• 7:43
Speaker 4: something they need to.
• 7:44
Speaker 5: They need to because they're they're kind of doing another
• 7:46
Speaker 5: way across definitely, Like I mean, just think of TLC.
• 7:50
Speaker 2: Remember they used to have on all the bright clothes. Yeah,
• 7:53
  Speaker 2: cross colors.
• 7:54
Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, so that's what y'all were doing in Philly
• 7:57
  Speaker 4: or is.
• 7:57
Speaker 1: That what you what I was doing in Philly? In
• 8:00
Speaker 1: Europe it was more what is it united colors of Benetton,
• 8:03
Speaker 1: sizzly that kind of I don't know, it's totally different.
• 8:06
Speaker 1: I think it was just a culture shock for us too,
• 8:08
Speaker 1: and then seeing a lot more of us, right which
• 8:12
Speaker 1: Italy they had, but they were mostly either Moroccan or
• 8:16
Speaker 1: you know, so that was a little bit different.
• 8:17
Speaker 5: But yeah, so when you're in school in Europe, I
• 8:20
Speaker 5: was like making friends against when you came back to
• 8:24
Speaker 5: the States and making friends and what is it like
• 8:26
  Speaker 5: the school experience?
• 8:27
  Speaker 4: The school experience?
• 8:28
Speaker 1: I mean coming back to the States, it was hard
• 8:31
Speaker 1: because there's so many different slang words and things that
• 8:33
  Speaker 1: we didn't know.
• 8:35
Speaker 4: So people will talk to us. What's the billy slang
• 8:39
  Speaker 4: that people know?
• 8:40
Speaker 1: John? John? Is everything John? Like? Look at that John?
• 8:48
  Speaker 1: That John like everything that John's I'm like, I don't
• 8:52
Speaker 1: know either. I was like, okay, so yes, I think,
• 8:56
Speaker 1: oh yeah, I oh my god.
• 8:59
Speaker 4: We've like water ICs.
• 9:02
Speaker 5: Like icy from somebody over this.
• 9:09
Speaker 1: The ball. Oh yeah, yumbo, like yum.
• 9:14
Speaker 4: I know that, I know that.
• 9:22
Speaker 2: Oh just kidding, just kidding.
• 9:24
  Speaker 4: I was like, no, I'm from l A. Okay, Well
• 9:28
Speaker 4: it was so after So when was the first moment
• 9:33
Speaker 4: you realized dad had a different job.
• 9:37
Speaker 1: Well, I think a different job from in Italy.
• 9:39
Speaker 4: Because okay, are we moving? Okay, what are we doing?
• 9:41
Speaker 4: Where are we going?
• 9:43
Speaker 1: Because I don't remember when he played in the NBA.
• 9:44
Speaker 1: I was so young, like one, two, three, you know,
• 9:47
Speaker 1: I don't remember, but I do remember packing up and
• 9:51
Speaker 1: my mom's like, okay, we're moving to Italy. We're like okay,
• 9:55
Speaker 1: like where is it where we gotta go? Like, so
• 9:57
Speaker 1: we just went. It was amazing experience. I think. One
• 10:01
Speaker 1: beautiful thing just so I note about my mom is
• 10:04
Speaker 1: wherever we went, she will make a house a home
• 10:07
Speaker 1: anywhere and quick. So it never felt like we were
• 10:12
Speaker 1: you know, out of place or you know, just not settled,
• 10:16
  Speaker 1: which was nice.
• 10:16
Speaker 4: Does she have to bounce around a lot with your dad? Before?
• 10:21
Speaker 4: Was he drafted in Philly?
• 10:22
Speaker 1: He was drafted to the Sixers. I believe, yes, he
• 10:25
Speaker 1: was drafted to the Sixers, but I know he played
• 10:27
Speaker 1: for the What is San Diego I'm gonna say Clippers.
• 10:30
Speaker 1: At that time, there were San Diego played for the
• 10:33
Speaker 1: Houston Rockets. I think those are the three teams. But
• 10:37
  Speaker 1: like I said, I don't remember that part because I
• 10:40
Speaker 1: was so young, but definitely in Italy. I think it
• 10:42
Speaker 1: was just after the game and all the fans just
• 10:45
Speaker 1: Joe Bryan like they're saying so, like, you know, it's interesting.
• 10:51
Speaker 1: And then the fans in Europe are different. Oh no,
• 10:55
Speaker 1: they are hype turned up like flares and the stands.
• 10:59
Speaker 1: I'm doing smoke detectives, like what's going on here? Not
• 11:02
Speaker 1: the building about to burn down? And jumping up and down.
• 11:07
  Speaker 4: I say, okay, okay, we're jumping. We're jumping, we're jumping.
• 11:12
Speaker 4: So how did jelly bean come about? Oh?
• 11:14
Speaker 1: My dad loves jelly beans.
• 11:16
Speaker 4: Oh and so do I my favorite color.
• 11:19
Speaker 1: Okay, I'm sorry, ques Ones, I can't do so. The
• 11:24
Speaker 1: only candy and literally is jelly beans, their jelly bellies
• 11:29
Speaker 1: and their tropical flavor. So you have the coconut, the banana,
• 11:34
Speaker 1: like all the good kind. Okay, I have some in
• 11:36
Speaker 1: my bag at all times. Just today, all right, So
• 11:39
Speaker 1: we get some jelly beans and some jelly be you know,
• 11:42
Speaker 1: I love you off. I share though, just so we're okay,
• 11:45
Speaker 1: we'll get you. There's no red. They're all tropical, tropical
• 11:52
Speaker 1: like bananas like, okay, even better coconut.
• 11:55
Speaker 4: Like I like, okay, I I drink coconut water.
• 11:59
Speaker 2: Do you still have friends from Italy?
• 12:01
  Speaker 1: Like?
• 12:01
Speaker 2: Do you keep in touch with?
• 12:02
Speaker 1: I do? But thank God for social media? Right, so?
• 12:05
Speaker 1: I think at some point you used to have like pimpiles,
• 12:08
Speaker 1: you know, where you write and it takes forever to
• 12:09
Speaker 1: get the letter and then you send it back and postcards.
• 12:12
Speaker 1: But now it's like straight Facebook message, you know what
• 12:13
Speaker 1: I mean? Or like Instagram.
• 12:15
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 12:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, because my godparents are Italian, so they're there. Yeah,
• 12:19
Speaker 1: so I keep in touch with them and my god brothers.
• 12:23
  Speaker 1: One's a dentist, want's a doctor, like they do them
• 12:25
  Speaker 1: very well.
• 12:27
Speaker 4: See y'all for a little bit and hang out. Okay,
• 12:29
Speaker 4: but yeah, So what did a normal day in the
• 12:32
Speaker 4: Brant household look like when you're in high school? You
• 12:36
  Speaker 4: came back?
• 12:36
Speaker 1: Oh, let's see high school when I came back. Normal day.
• 12:40
Speaker 1: Get up in the morning, Breakfast is on the table,
• 12:44
Speaker 1: and Mom will cook like creama weed or oatmeal, eggs, bacon,
• 12:48
Speaker 1: biscuits like a full spread, she gets us fed. She
• 12:53
Speaker 1: was that mom. Okay, yeah, we rarely took the bus
• 12:58
Speaker 1: majority of the time. They would always drive us.
• 13:00
  Speaker 4: I think that's a born to the game thing. I've
• 13:02
  Speaker 4: never taken.
• 13:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, except for like, if you have games and things
• 13:06
Speaker 1: of that nature, right then you have to take the
• 13:08
Speaker 1: bus and things like that. But other than that, they
• 13:09
Speaker 1: will drop us off, kick us up. Yeah, and then
• 13:14
Speaker 1: after school activities and depends on everyone's schedule, where everyone is,
• 13:18
Speaker 1: dinner's always ready. I was that kid. I will step
• 13:21
Speaker 1: right on the doorstep and like hot roast. Yeah, I
• 13:25
Speaker 1: can smell it before I even hit open. I was like, yes,
• 13:29
Speaker 1: so yeah, dude, ready.
• 13:31
Speaker 4: Did basketball take up your entire just world? Like what
• 13:35
Speaker 4: a basketball? I guess mean to you at that time?
• 13:38
Speaker 1: It's so crazy. I feel like that's almost all we
• 13:40
Speaker 1: knew too. Oh I played some articles. I'm not say.
• 13:45
Speaker 1: I was like, okay, okay, back in the day, not
• 13:49
Speaker 1: these knees though, not now, not these forward forward.
• 13:55
Speaker 4: Yeah, it was good you play in college, did you?
• 13:57
  Speaker 4: I did not.
• 13:58
Speaker 1: I chose volleyball, okay, and the only reason because they're
• 14:05
  Speaker 1: cute uniforms.
• 14:08
  Speaker 2: That's what I look.
• 14:09
Speaker 5: I'm telling our moms or sisters, so like like growing up,
• 14:16
Speaker 5: we didn't grow up like like in the same state,
• 14:18
Speaker 5: but like we kept in touch.
• 14:19
Speaker 4: Or whatever, but ain't.
• 14:21
Speaker 5: Terry would tell my mom right switched from basketball to
• 14:24
Speaker 5: volleyball because of the shorts.
• 14:27
Speaker 4: She was like the shorts of baggy and basketball and it.
• 14:30
Speaker 2: Was a cuter outfit.
• 14:31
Speaker 4: We were like, it makes sense. I did an interview
• 14:34
Speaker 4: once and I said that, and I don't think it
• 14:37
  Speaker 4: it resonated, didn't.
• 14:39
Speaker 2: But that was back, you know, It's like, that's what
• 14:45
  Speaker 2: it was.
• 14:46
Speaker 4: But I think some people viewed it as me saying
• 14:49
Speaker 4: that it was manly, and that's not what I was saying.
• 14:53
  Speaker 4: I was just saying, I like, I like shorts. I
• 14:57
Speaker 4: just thought I was and the big kneed path.
• 15:00
Speaker 2: I mean, the whole culture is cute. It's cute and
• 15:03
  Speaker 2: so's but we.
• 15:05
Speaker 1: Understand college volleyball and then high school as well. But
• 15:11
Speaker 1: also my family they kept us busy, so we did basketball,
• 15:15
Speaker 1: track and field and volleyball.
• 15:17
Speaker 4: Family full of athletes. Was your sister an.
• 15:20
Speaker 1: Athlete, Yes, track and field, but she did all like
• 15:23
Speaker 1: the high jump, the hurdles. I did all the field events.
• 15:26
Speaker 1: I'll throw some stuff in a minute.
• 15:30
Speaker 4: Was your mom and athlete.
• 15:32
Speaker 1: Mom is pretty tall now.
• 15:34
Speaker 4: She she's like five ten.
• 15:36
Speaker 1: On a day she likes to say, she's like, you know,
• 15:39
Speaker 1: she's like, you know us tall Okay, okay, okay, mom,
• 15:44
Speaker 1: no fine, I know our family is sure.
• 15:47
  Speaker 2: That's true.
• 15:48
Speaker 1: That makes okay, that's true, which is crazy.
• 15:50
Speaker 4: So give us the height breakdown.
• 15:52
Speaker 1: So mom's five ten, my sister's about five ten. I'm
• 15:57
Speaker 1: six two. Co was that what six set?
• 16:00
  Speaker 4: There?
• 16:01
Speaker 1: We go six seven? Is okay? I't even saying that
• 16:04
Speaker 1: I want to go in the six eight round. I
• 16:06
Speaker 1: just want to go six eight. My dad's six ten,
• 16:10
  Speaker 1: so that's a that's.
• 16:11
Speaker 2: A tall family. Mother was like her grocery bill.
• 16:16
Speaker 1: I can't even imagine. Because now I'm trying to be
• 16:18
Speaker 1: my three kids. I'm like, can y'all use your school
• 16:20
Speaker 1: stomic please, because clearly school serious. They're young, they're twelve, fourteen,
• 16:27
  Speaker 1: and seventeen, but.
• 16:29
Speaker 4: Boys they're going to be Yeah.
• 16:31
Speaker 1: Because my husband's six.
• 16:32
Speaker 4: Ten, Oh honey, I didn't realize he was that tall.
• 16:36
Speaker 2: Oh honey, anybody saw my husband is six six, six
• 16:40
Speaker 2: six and six ten, or that Evan is six nine.
• 16:43
  Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. And so he's your husband's taller
• 16:46
Speaker 4: than Evan. Oh lord, yeah, bless your grocery bill.
• 16:50
  Speaker 1: It's pretty wild.
• 16:51
Speaker 4: I mean, but think for Grandma. I think the big
• 16:56
Speaker 4: and tall. But it's so crazy because before it's.
• 16:59
Speaker 1: Like more big than tall, right, So the more you
• 17:02
Speaker 1: go up, everything gets whiter versus going up and height
• 17:05
  Speaker 1: like vertical.
• 17:06
Speaker 5: So okay, sounds like a business idea to.
• 17:10
Speaker 1: Especially for kids too. That was the hardest trying to
• 17:12
Speaker 1: find pants to fit my boys because they're so slim
• 17:15
Speaker 1: but just really long ors tall.
• 17:17
Speaker 5: And then not looking like not looking grown because I
• 17:20
  Speaker 5: with you guys.
• 17:22
Speaker 2: Like they would, but they were like six. I was like,
• 17:25
Speaker 2: you can't wear you know, because you know.
• 17:29
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 17:30
Speaker 4: So who's the funniest in the family?
• 17:32
Speaker 1: Oh me for sure, hands down. Next question, since.
• 17:41
Speaker 4: That was already period, who would win in a family debate?
• 17:47
Speaker 1: Probably my brother, I could see that. I guess you'll
• 17:50
Speaker 1: just sit there and think yes, and if I just
• 17:52
Speaker 1: stare at you too for a bit until you finish,
• 17:54
Speaker 1: you know, your whole piece, and then be like they're
• 17:57
Speaker 1: super calm. Definitely my brother.
• 17:59
Speaker 4: Okay, what was a rule in your house that made
• 18:04
  Speaker 4: absolutely no sense?
• 18:06
Speaker 1: I don't know if there was a rule in that
• 18:08
Speaker 1: I mean leave it up to my parents. If it's
• 18:10
Speaker 1: a rule, it makes sense period. You just don't question, like, okay,
• 18:15
Speaker 1: but my dad did have a rule when we left
• 18:17
Speaker 1: the car to go into a store.
• 18:20
Speaker 4: Absolutely okay, absolutely, yes, yeah yourself.
• 18:27
Speaker 1: I don't know. He would be like, you know, don't
• 18:30
Speaker 1: ask for ship, don't touch ship. Won't be no ship?
• 18:36
  Speaker 4: Is that?
• 18:36
  Speaker 1: Like?
• 18:36
Speaker 4: Yeah, won't be nothing?
• 18:41
  Speaker 1: Three literally?
• 18:43
Speaker 4: And I know from my mom if you walk away
• 18:45
Speaker 4: once I find you, your be So just make sure
• 18:49
Speaker 4: you stay the same. You're a handbook because I need Yeah, yeah,
• 18:56
  Speaker 4: that's that.
• 18:57
Speaker 2: Don't call the police on you these days, well.
• 19:00
Speaker 4: They oh yeah, nowadays you can't do anything. You can't
• 19:03
Speaker 4: do anything. So did you ever roll your eyes or
• 19:08
Speaker 4: get annoyed when fans recognized your family? How was that?
• 19:12
Speaker 4: How did you deal with fans?
• 19:13
Speaker 1: I thought it was pretty cool. I mean initially, especially
• 19:17
Speaker 1: yeah my dad. They were fine. They're like, mister Bryan,
• 19:20
Speaker 1: you know whatever, and we're like, oh, that's kind of cool,
• 19:22
Speaker 1: you know, But it was fine. It was never scary
• 19:25
Speaker 1: at all. I thought it was different when my brother
• 19:28
Speaker 1: entered the league and I would see people walking around
• 19:30
Speaker 1: with his jersey, like with my last name on their back.
• 19:33
Speaker 1: And I'm like, hold on.
• 19:35
Speaker 4: What age were you when you saw that? I was eighteen?
• 19:38
Speaker 1: Okay it was seventeen, yeah, but young but like kind
• 19:42
Speaker 1: of old enough. Yeah, weird last name on your back. Okay,
• 19:47
Speaker 1: we'll let it go, but you better represent don't be going.
• 19:50
Speaker 4: Here, youresent do nothing crazy?
• 19:54
  Speaker 1: Okay?
• 19:55
Speaker 4: Yeah, so what was? What was?
• 19:59
Speaker 5: What's something people will be surprised to know about your
• 20:02
  Speaker 5: dad as a.
• 20:04
Speaker 1: Father, that he was present father. I think a lot
• 20:09
Speaker 1: of times people think, you know, you're a professional athlete
• 20:11
Speaker 1: or you're coaching or doing whatever, and like you don't
• 20:13
Speaker 1: have time. He made time, Like I don't remember him
• 20:17
Speaker 1: not being there, if that makes sense, Like yeah, even games,
• 20:21
Speaker 1: even if he sore after a game, he will lay
• 20:23
Speaker 1: on the floor and this is spending quality time. Walk
• 20:26
Speaker 1: on my back, you know what I mean, or things
• 20:27
Speaker 1: like that, or stretch me out, like we will stretch him.
• 20:30
Speaker 1: You know, one person laid the other arm. But yeah,
• 20:34
Speaker 1: he always made time. And I always like to wrestle,
• 20:36
Speaker 1: like pillow fights, thofts fights, and my mom's like, don't
• 20:40
  Speaker 1: hurt my baby.
• 20:42
Speaker 4: That's why you're a boy, mom, That's exactly why you were.
• 20:46
Speaker 4: It's something about the dad's thinking like they can wrestle
• 20:49
Speaker 4: everybody like relax. I'm a girl still like plea.
• 20:54
Speaker 1: No, but definitely always present. It's always there.
• 20:57
Speaker 2: So I'm raising your boys.
• 20:58
Speaker 5: What are parts of your dad's journey that you're carrying
• 21:01
Speaker 5: with you as you raise your kings.
• 21:03
Speaker 1: Oh man, I'm just I mean, just looking back obviously
• 21:07
Speaker 1: with the loss of my dad. I always tell my
• 21:09
Speaker 1: kids to spend time with pop Up and no, no,
• 21:12
Speaker 1: we can't pop up and no nonas Grandma for Italian
• 21:16
Speaker 1: and and I'm just glad they they did right always
• 21:21
Speaker 1: with him. I mean, my little Gavin would play the piano.
• 21:23
Speaker 1: Here go my dad. One finger band Ai Doom Doom
• 21:26
Speaker 1: Doom do like one finger.
• 21:31
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 21:31
Speaker 1: I think it's just being love, unconditional love, and that's
• 21:35
Speaker 1: I think the most I guess personality trade or whatever
• 21:41
Speaker 1: that I want to instill in my kids, that unconditional
• 21:44
Speaker 1: love and being affectionate. A lot of times you meet
• 21:47
Speaker 1: these kids that are so, you know, kind of stand out,
• 21:49
Speaker 1: but we're huggers. We're like, you know, welcoming and inclusive.
• 21:53
Speaker 5: A lot of times with men, sometimes it could be
• 21:55
Speaker 5: hard for them to be. I love that that you're
• 21:59
Speaker 5: raising because you're raising men. Will have wives one day,
• 22:03
Speaker 5: partners one day that they will love, absolutely touch and
• 22:06
  Speaker 5: have affection with.
• 22:07
  Speaker 2: That's beautiful really.
• 22:09
Speaker 5: So watching his career shape, how you see success and
• 22:14
Speaker 5: then after success pressure.
• 22:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think just their drive right for something that
• 22:20
Speaker 1: they love. If you find your passion, I find it
• 22:24
Speaker 1: very easy. You love what you do right, and if
• 22:27
Speaker 1: you love what you do, it's just easy to move
• 22:29
Speaker 1: through life in general. And I think just watching them
• 22:33
Speaker 1: play or even my dad really instilled something in me too,
• 22:38
  Speaker 1: for sure.
• 22:40
Speaker 5: So when you are dealing with pressure, is that something
• 22:43
Speaker 5: that you draw back to of how he dealt with pressure?
• 22:46
Speaker 2: When you're watching him go through, you know.
• 22:49
Speaker 5: Moving, all the moving and the changes that he had
• 22:51
Speaker 5: to put the family through.
• 22:52
  Speaker 1: It's so interesting because I'm the one I really don't
• 22:55
Speaker 1: like change all that much. I'm like one of those people. Yeah, yeah,
• 23:00
Speaker 1: but you almost have to roll with it. You just
• 23:02
Speaker 1: kind of go with it, you breathe through it. And
• 23:04
Speaker 1: I think if you have a great support system. So
• 23:06
Speaker 1: even looking at my dad, even through all the pressures
• 23:09
Speaker 1: of the games, the losses, the winds, the ups and
• 23:11
Speaker 1: the downs, he knew that he always had my mom
• 23:13
Speaker 1: or family right that had his back. Yeah, so I
• 23:16
Speaker 1: think that was really important. And I know that my
• 23:19
Speaker 1: family has my back too, so love that.
• 23:22
Speaker 5: So what do you teach you about sacrifice.
• 23:25
Speaker 1: M giving up stuff? I think making the right decisions too,
• 23:32
Speaker 1: not falling into peer pressure and all those things that
• 23:35
Speaker 1: people are saying on the outside, because you know who
• 23:37
Speaker 1: you are on the inside and what this house is like, ye,
• 23:42
Speaker 1: your safe space. Yeah, my dad is definitely someone special,
• 23:47
  Speaker 1: for sure.
• 23:48
Speaker 5: You talked, you talked about him teaching about being present
• 23:52
Speaker 5: in the power of presence and family and being around.
• 23:55
Speaker 5: But what else did he teach you that had nothing
• 23:58
Speaker 5: to do with basketball? Just how he I guess how
• 24:02
Speaker 5: he moved. What did it teach you about life?
• 24:05
Speaker 1: My dad, if you ever saw him out, he's always smiling,
• 24:10
Speaker 1: very a lot of joy, and I think that was,
• 24:16
Speaker 1: you know, one of his trades too. It's just always smiling.
• 24:19
Speaker 1: He gave the best hugs to those big pats. I
• 24:22
Speaker 1: don't know if your dad's like he hugged you and
• 24:23
  Speaker 1: then like I'm like, I'm a girl, Like let's.
• 24:27
  Speaker 4: Let's bring it.
• 24:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, let's do a little soft you give that was
• 24:32
Speaker 1: a lot of you know.
• 24:33
Speaker 4: I was gonna say, it makes sense because you give
• 24:35
Speaker 4: great hugs and you're always smiling dad. Yeah, so you
• 24:40
Speaker 4: you you get that from him because that's you. That's
• 24:44
Speaker 4: just how you move and that's how you carry yourself.
• 24:46
Speaker 4: And it's beautiful. So it's warm and it's welcoming and
• 24:52
Speaker 4: it's just so you get that from mister jellybean.
• 24:56
Speaker 5: Yeah, girl, did he have any sayings that he always
• 25:00
Speaker 5: to say that you were here in the house?
• 25:03
Speaker 1: You knows so crazy. He wasn't a man of many words.
• 25:06
Speaker 1: My mom would do all the you know, my dad
• 25:09
Speaker 1: would just do a look. It's never really words, but
• 25:11
Speaker 1: just a look. Does that make sense? Like you knew
• 25:13
Speaker 1: he was always around in present, but it was never like.
• 25:19
Speaker 4: You know, so could you get your way with daddy?
• 25:22
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, oh yeah, okay, oh yeah.
• 25:24
Speaker 4: So so daddy didn't have a tough time telling baby girl.
• 25:27
Speaker 1: Now correct correct? She was like.
• 25:34
Speaker 4: Okay, literally and you gotta go run into daddy and
• 25:37
  Speaker 4: be like yep.
• 25:38
Speaker 1: But then my mom get on me, don't okay. Yeah,
• 25:42
Speaker 1: now my kids do the same thing to me and Mike. Yeah,
• 25:45
  Speaker 1: way back, he.
• 25:46
Speaker 2: Didn't speak much. Did he have any like corny dad
• 25:48
Speaker 2: jokes or was he like not on the.
• 25:53
Speaker 4: Very chill, I'm trying to think what did he say?
• 25:55
Speaker 1: Oh, when we would walk down the street and stuff,
• 25:58
Speaker 1: and he's like like chicken. I'm like, yeah, he like
• 26:00
Speaker 1: wing Like I'm like grab my arm, like, you know,
• 26:05
  Speaker 1: that's so weird.
• 26:11
Speaker 4: That cute though, because you know, like dad jokes that
• 26:13
Speaker 4: are crazy. You're like, oh my god, Dad, don't.
• 26:16
  Speaker 1: Say that again.
• 26:19
Speaker 4: I'm like, Okay, was he when you were dating? Was
• 26:23
  Speaker 4: he that?
• 26:23
Speaker 1: Like it's pretty chick? Okay, Yeah, I mean I do
• 26:28
Speaker 1: remember one time. I know, I'm a little nervous telling
• 26:31
Speaker 1: the story, but I'll let it ride. So I think
• 26:35
Speaker 1: I was already in high school actually even a freshman
• 26:37
Speaker 1: coll I don't remember in high school. I was older.
• 26:40
  Speaker 1: I was driving, but I guess I didn't come home
• 26:43
Speaker 1: in time, and my mom sent my dad out looking
• 26:46
Speaker 1: for me. Now that's when you don't have cell phones,
• 26:49
Speaker 1: you don't have pages. So my dad's like, okay, I'll
• 26:51
Speaker 1: go out looking. But where am I going? We have
• 26:54
Speaker 1: the whole city of Philadelphia. We'll start with South Street
• 26:57
Speaker 1: because that's usually where shaven.
• 27:00
  Speaker 4: What's up.
• 27:01
Speaker 1: It's like a strip that you walked down and people
• 27:04
Speaker 1: just hang and you know, on the corner, she said,
• 27:08
Speaker 1: because I like the streets.
• 27:09
Speaker 4: Okay, no streets how rough for these shop I was
• 27:16
Speaker 4: like streets and it was fun.
• 27:19
Speaker 1: It's like shops and people hanging out and music, but
• 27:22
Speaker 1: long stair shirt. I end up beat my dad home
• 27:25
Speaker 1: and I was like, where's that? And I was like,
• 27:26
Speaker 1: he's out there looking for you because you didn't come home.
• 27:28
Speaker 4: All the time. I was like, not bad, So.
• 27:31
  Speaker 1: That again home?
• 27:31
Speaker 4: What did he do?
• 27:32
Speaker 1: He's like, I'm glad you're safe. That was it, and
• 27:34
Speaker 1: he went to bed. And he went to bed, he
• 27:36
  Speaker 1: was fine.
• 27:36
Speaker 4: I love that you're so scared to tell that story.
• 27:39
  Speaker 4: You are terrifying.
• 27:43
Speaker 1: I'm scared girl, because do right?
• 27:47
Speaker 4: Okay, never heard to do right?
• 27:49
Speaker 1: You know, I'm afraid to say when you do wrong,
• 27:52
Speaker 1: I'll make you do right. Yeah, okay, do right? Now?
• 27:56
Speaker 4: Who did I know already know the answer to this?
• 27:58
Speaker 4: I know, mister jelly Bean did not absolutely not that
• 28:01
Speaker 4: that was my mama? You right?
• 28:04
Speaker 1: That was that was?
• 28:06
  Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the mama's And because I wouldn't, I don't.
• 28:11
Speaker 4: I feel like I spoiled my child too.
• 28:15
  Speaker 5: I know it's really it's just gonna pay like a
• 28:18
Speaker 5: mom boy thing too, because true, that's true?
• 28:22
Speaker 1: Was it? Yeah? I know my daughter watches and be
• 28:25
Speaker 1: like I knew it. Sorry, we love you, We love you, Autumn.
• 28:31
  Speaker 4: It's just it's a different dynamic, but it's with dads
• 28:35
Speaker 4: and daughters. Did he ever coach you playing?
• 28:39
  Speaker 1: No?
• 28:39
Speaker 4: Okay, kept that separate.
• 28:41
Speaker 1: Kept it separate. He would always come to games, never
• 28:44
Speaker 1: even really provide feedback. He'll just let us, you know.
• 28:47
Speaker 1: But if we came to him with questions, right, he
• 28:50
Speaker 1: would definitely give his input. But he was never one
• 28:52
Speaker 1: to be like, you need to do this and put
• 28:54
Speaker 1: your arms. Do great job today, great rebound, great box out.
• 28:58
Speaker 4: Yeah did you feel pressure? I'm like, peers, you're not jellybeans?
• 29:05
Speaker 4: Sit down? Okay, okay, ever good, that's actually really good.
• 29:10
  Speaker 1: Yea.
• 29:12
Speaker 4: Let's talk about Kobe.
• 29:13
Speaker 2: For a little bit.
• 29:13
  Speaker 1: Okay, the Kobe.
• 29:15
  Speaker 2: So what's a.
• 29:16
Speaker 4: Memory of him that only a sister would know?
• 29:21
Speaker 1: A memory of Cob and I, okay, I do have
• 29:27
  Speaker 1: a story.
• 29:29
  Speaker 4: Let's hear it.
• 29:30
Speaker 1: Okay. So in Italy, I don't remember what age, but
• 29:34
Speaker 1: I remember playing in the backyard and my mom would say,
• 29:38
Speaker 1: always rolled down like these shutters, you know, they have glass,
• 29:41
Speaker 1: and then they have these like I don't even know
• 29:43
Speaker 1: what it is like it kind of protects. We forgot
• 29:45
Speaker 1: to do that. We were out there kicking the ball
• 29:47
Speaker 1: playing soccer, and I say, Mara Donna, which is a
• 29:51
Speaker 1: famous soccer player that passed away a couple of years
• 29:54
Speaker 1: ago as well. I kicked the ball and shattered the
• 29:56
Speaker 1: glass completely. My mom from inside the house, she is
• 30:01
  Speaker 1: like copy.
• 30:03
Speaker 4: I was like, I did it.
• 30:06
  Speaker 1: I kicked it.
• 30:07
  Speaker 2: Oh.
• 30:08
Speaker 1: So I was like, I guess you're gonna have to
• 30:10
Speaker 1: take the fall. Brother, Like I was like, you're gonna
• 30:12
Speaker 1: take the air, brother, take one for the tea.
• 30:13
Speaker 4: He was like, I take plead, look speak for you.
• 30:17
Speaker 4: Please help me, help.
• 30:19
Speaker 1: Me, help me looking at you. But so my mom
• 30:24
Speaker 1: came out. He told her. He's like, no, Shay, and
• 30:28
Speaker 1: I was like, no, he did. I was shying. I
• 30:29
Speaker 1: was trying, girl. Pan Anyway, long story straight. I tried
• 30:32
Speaker 1: to run away from home. I didn't girl. I went
• 30:34
Speaker 1: to the back I went to the backyard. Literally everything.
• 30:38
Speaker 1: I literally went to the backyard. And then it was
• 30:40
Speaker 1: dinner time and reality said it and I was.
• 30:42
Speaker 4: Like this for me. I went back from the door
• 30:44
Speaker 4: and said, girl, coming side that food. I love when
• 30:49
Speaker 4: kids are so dramatic like that. They got their backpack
• 30:52
Speaker 4: and they're heading out, and it's like, man, I.
• 30:55
Speaker 1: Went to the backyard, but you thought she was going
• 30:57
Speaker 1: so I thought I was going somewhere. I ain't going nowhere.
• 31:00
Speaker 4: So Kobe took. So Kobe didn't take.
• 31:02
Speaker 1: He didn't take it, but he was with me during that, uh,
• 31:05
Speaker 1: that struggle when I was about the bounce. Yeah, in
• 31:07
Speaker 1: my mind, does she does? She We didn't get in trouble. Now,
• 31:11
Speaker 1: they just had it fixed. She's like, please, next time,
• 31:14
Speaker 1: just roll it down to see it. Please. Yeah, she's like.
• 31:18
  Speaker 1: Mom's like, I don't ask for much.
• 31:19
  Speaker 4: You know.
• 31:21
Speaker 1: That's right, You're right right, We're gonna be more mindful
• 31:25
Speaker 1: next Right now, as a mom, I get it, you did. Now.
• 31:29
Speaker 4: So how did you handle his rise to global fame
• 31:33
Speaker 4: from inside the family and were you protective of him?
• 31:38
Speaker 1: Definitely? I think just that whole jump from high school
• 31:41
Speaker 1: to the NBA, I'm like, wait a minute, the grown
• 31:43
  Speaker 1: men you were?
• 31:44
  Speaker 2: How old?
• 31:45
Speaker 1: So Covid and I are only thirteen months apart. Yeah,
• 31:48
Speaker 1: so he's younger than me, and then I'm the middle,
• 31:51
Speaker 1: and then my sister and I are sixteen months apart.
• 31:53
Speaker 1: So literally we were like one, two and three. Yeah,
• 31:57
Speaker 1: But I think for him just being overprotective was really
• 32:03
Speaker 1: the dating the women for him and for me just
• 32:06
Speaker 1: being an overprotective sister, you know, because you're going into
• 32:10
Speaker 1: this profession that's grown men clearly and you're seventeen. Yeah,
• 32:16
Speaker 1: so I think it was just that protectiveness. But him
• 32:18
Speaker 1: and I were like this, like thickest thieves, always together.
• 32:22
Speaker 1: And I'm gonna tell you right now. Even after games,
• 32:23
Speaker 1: he would come back to the house because we all
• 32:25
Speaker 1: lived together at the time, my mom, my dad, myself
• 32:27
Speaker 1: and him, and we would just watch film like playbacks
• 32:30
Speaker 1: of games and stuff. My mom would have, you know,
• 32:32
Speaker 1: dinner ready, but he loved breakfast for dinner a lot
• 32:35
Speaker 1: of times, so which was kind of interesting. Okay, but yeah, to.
• 32:39
Speaker 5: Help your upbringing in the game, did it help even
• 32:43
Speaker 5: to bridge that his transition from high school into so
• 32:48
Speaker 5: you already kind of knew the ropes, you know?
• 32:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, with your dad, I think so. But it's on
• 32:52
Speaker 1: a whole other level, right, I think, just European basketball,
• 32:57
  Speaker 1: and like I said, I was a kid, I mean
• 32:58
Speaker 1: eighteen technically an adult, but I think it's just different,
• 33:03
Speaker 1: especially just seeing how he rose to you know, legend
• 33:09
Speaker 1: pretty fast. It happened very fast. I mean a couple
• 33:12
Speaker 1: of years. Yes, he was riding the bench, but he did,
• 33:14
Speaker 1: you know, put in the work right to get to
• 33:16
Speaker 1: where he needed to be. So I have sacrifices for sure.
• 33:19
Speaker 4: What's one thing you think people misunderstand about Kobe?
• 33:25
Speaker 1: Oh that he's just hard, you know, that whole mentality
• 33:28
  Speaker 1: the mamba.
• 33:29
Speaker 4: But yeah, he is funny too. He is funny. Is fine,
• 33:33
  Speaker 4: he's real.
• 33:34
Speaker 1: I'm definitely funny. He's funny, but on the moon, he's Okay.
• 33:42
Speaker 4: Let me phrase that.
• 33:43
Speaker 1: He's a jokester, right, so he likes playing pranks.
• 33:46
Speaker 4: That was gonna be my next question.
• 33:47
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I remember, I have another questions.
• 33:49
Speaker 1: Okay, okay. So one night going out with my girlfriends,
• 33:53
Speaker 1: We're getting dressed ready to go, and all of a sudden,
• 33:56
Speaker 1: he jumps out of a dark kind of corner with
• 33:59
Speaker 1: the whole scream, ask on the whole garb. We went running.
• 34:02
Speaker 1: My girlfriend broke her heel, her shoe, and she was
• 34:05
Speaker 1: visiting from the East Coast. I'm like, okay, now we
• 34:07
Speaker 1: have to go back in the house and find shoes.
• 34:09
Speaker 1: He thought that was so funny. He ruined my whole night,
• 34:11
Speaker 1: the whole night. But we still went out and turned up.
• 34:13
  Speaker 1: But period.
• 34:16
Speaker 2: In the street, you don't have a good time, nothing's
• 34:25
Speaker 2: going to stop you.
• 34:26
Speaker 1: With the six sparkles, that's when my knees were really good. Now, kitten, hells, Kitten,
• 34:37
Speaker 1: I love that for us.
• 34:38
Speaker 4: So the work ethic even like during high school, Yeah, yeah,
• 34:42
  Speaker 4: was it?
• 34:42
Speaker 2: Did it start there?
• 34:43
Speaker 5: Like do you remember seeing that kind of work ethics
• 34:45
Speaker 5: when you hear it's like all about how you know
• 34:48
Speaker 5: he would be in the gym before anybody else.
• 34:50
Speaker 2: Did it start there?
• 34:51
Speaker 1: It did high school as well a lot of times
• 34:53
Speaker 1: he would leave the house before we did, meaning he
• 34:56
Speaker 1: would get shot up, probably like six amka something school
• 35:00
Speaker 1: at eight, still getting shot up, having the coach unlock
• 35:04
Speaker 1: the gym so he can get some stuff in before
• 35:07
Speaker 1: even starting schools. So that started early. I think he
• 35:10
Speaker 1: just always knew that he wanted to be in the
• 35:13
Speaker 1: NBA and be the best, even when he was younger.
• 35:16
Speaker 4: So, but did you see was there ever a part
• 35:18
Speaker 4: when you were watching him just establish his footing in
• 35:22
Speaker 4: basketball where you were like, Kobe can really be somebody?
• 35:25
Speaker 4: Did you ever imagine that he would become who he became?
• 35:29
Speaker 1: You know, it's so crazy to me. He's still my
• 35:31
Speaker 1: little brother. It's hard to be yeah, like oh this.
• 35:35
Speaker 4: And Mama, it's just like I broke the glass, you know,
• 35:44
Speaker 4: and he didn't help me right right, exactly like the
• 35:48
Speaker 4: annoying for sure side like you know in the.
• 35:55
Speaker 1: Like you know, stuff like that, like little annoying brother
• 35:58
  Speaker 1: things for sure.
• 36:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, any inside jokes, handshakes, a.
• 36:04
Speaker 1: Really handshakes. I don't know, we should just look at
• 36:08
Speaker 1: each other just laugh. But it was anything like inside
• 36:11
Speaker 1: like yeah like that, but nothing crazy.
• 36:14
Speaker 4: Is there anything about Kobe, what he did, who he is,
• 36:19
Speaker 4: who he was that lives within you?
• 36:24
Speaker 1: I think his uh passion, determination, just his grind and
• 36:30
Speaker 1: the sacrifices because you every day you have decisions right
• 36:34
Speaker 1: what to do, what not to do, And I think
• 36:37
Speaker 1: if it's not to better yourself right.
• 36:40
  Speaker 5: Then.
• 36:42
Speaker 4: You need to pick the So where did we get mamba?
• 36:47
Speaker 1: Who knows what goes on? That boy's girl snake venom?
• 36:54
Speaker 4: You know all that, y'all have snakes growing up and
• 36:56
  Speaker 4: absolutely not.
• 36:58
Speaker 1: So where did we get a snake? We had hamsterds, birds, dogs,
• 37:03
Speaker 1: all the above, girl birds, no lizards.
• 37:06
Speaker 4: So he just liked just one snake embodied than just
• 37:10
Speaker 4: the symbolism around the snake.
• 37:12
Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, and I even got Okay, we'll talk about
• 37:16
Speaker 1: that later with the whole but yeah, have snakes to represent.
• 37:19
Speaker 4: Okay, okay, what is a sibling argument you still laugh
• 37:23
Speaker 4: about today that y'all.
• 37:24
Speaker 1: Had, you know, so crazy.
• 37:28
Speaker 4: We never really argued and we never got in a fight.
• 37:32
Speaker 1: We never had a fight. I don't know siblings. I mean,
• 37:35
Speaker 1: I know I've heard of siblings actually like fist not
• 37:39
Speaker 1: in this house, absolutely not.
• 37:41
Speaker 5: We have never you guys, absolutely my mother would. I
• 37:45
Speaker 5: wouldn't be here, must be in a little book, you know,
• 37:49
Speaker 5: like physical, but we've had argument. She's talking about physical Okay, yeah, no, no.
• 37:55
Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, But arguments too.
• 37:57
  Speaker 1: I don't know. Maybe i'd argue.
• 38:00
Speaker 2: I definitely argue with my brother.
• 38:01
Speaker 4: So that's what I'm saying, Like, like, I mean, just
• 38:06
  Speaker 4: I guess.
• 38:07
Speaker 2: I mean my brother is like he's real quiet.
• 38:09
Speaker 5: I was like wow, so like he would just like
• 38:12
Speaker 5: get mad at me because I'm just being like you
• 38:15
Speaker 5: know what I'm saying.
• 38:15
Speaker 2: It would just be like that kind of thing.
• 38:17
Speaker 5: So nothing like nothing major, major, No, It's just it's
• 38:21
Speaker 5: just personality differences living.
• 38:23
Speaker 4: I think that's what it is.
• 38:24
Speaker 5: And then also like when we were growing up, I had.
• 38:26
Speaker 5: Our house was small, so like just the space, you know,
• 38:28
Speaker 5: I mean, it's that kind of stuff. But nothing nothing crazy.
• 38:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't think of an argument that's great, just crazy.
• 38:37
Speaker 4: I'm like, think of I got about twenty at the
• 38:39
  Speaker 4: top of my.
• 38:39
Speaker 1: Head phone, my phone, a friend phone, and sister.
• 38:44
Speaker 4: Do you remember argument? Did we ever have an argument?
• 38:47
Speaker 4: How was he when you dated? Was he that like brother?
• 38:50
Speaker 1: And this is what I There are two sides to that.
• 38:53
Speaker 1: So in high school, if I would go on a
• 38:56
Speaker 1: date with someone and they'll be like, your brother's not
• 38:57
Speaker 1: that good, I'd like lose my number. Like I'm like,
• 39:00
Speaker 1: we're not doing that. Yeah, that's why my husband made
• 39:03
Speaker 1: it because I know him since high school and he
• 39:05
Speaker 1: was like, your brother's amazing, thank you.
• 39:07
Speaker 4: That's why my husband made it. He's been here since
• 39:10
Speaker 4: day one and he understood, he understood.
• 39:15
Speaker 1: Correct anyone that does that. It was kind of like,
• 39:19
  Speaker 1: I'm good.
• 39:20
Speaker 5: But I would think if you would let somebody talk
• 39:23
  Speaker 5: about your brother, that's I mean, that's absolutely but I
• 39:27
Speaker 5: want to know so he So back when Kobe started,
• 39:30
Speaker 5: I'm assuming I can't remember the year, but social media
• 39:33
Speaker 5: wasn't as prevalent. But you're still able to watch him.
• 39:37
Speaker 5: As social media is becoming more and more dominant. Were
• 39:40
Speaker 5: you the sister who was writing back, tweeting back?
• 39:44
  Speaker 1: No, I mean I don't have time. I try to
• 39:46
Speaker 1: protect my peace at all times, and that is more
• 39:48
Speaker 1: valuable than any other me coming back with trolls and
• 39:51
Speaker 1: things like that, because once you open that box.
• 39:53
Speaker 4: Just it floods, floods. Yeah, so no, thank you, Okay,
• 39:56
Speaker 4: good for you. How were you at games?
• 39:59
  Speaker 1: Crazy? Okay?
• 40:00
Speaker 4: Crazy? How like crazy crazy?
• 40:03
Speaker 1: Not like get kicked out crazy, just like cheering and like,
• 40:07
Speaker 1: you know, talking, you know smack, especially in high school,
• 40:11
Speaker 1: you know, have our little group hang it out.
• 40:14
Speaker 2: So when you came back to watch the film, like,
• 40:16
  Speaker 2: what was that?
• 40:16
  Speaker 3: Like?
• 40:17
Speaker 5: Come back and what everybody's in there? Jammi's watching and
• 40:20
Speaker 5: get back on defense.
• 40:22
Speaker 1: My brother's constantly like going back rewind play Okay, did
• 40:25
Speaker 1: you see that? Did you see that? When he did that,
• 40:27
  Speaker 1: I was like, I don't see nothing. I see sure,
• 40:30
Speaker 1: get weeds fantastic, but yeah, but he would definitely analyze it.
• 40:37
Speaker 1: But I would just keep on company and hang out
• 40:40
Speaker 1: or we'll watch movies or just chill. Really were you nervous?
• 40:44
Speaker 4: What was the most I guess I mean, there's so
• 40:46
Speaker 4: many to choose from Kobe iconic moments at his games.
• 40:49
  Speaker 4: Shots like.
• 40:53
Speaker 1: For me, I remember, like it was yesterday when uh
• 40:57
Speaker 1: it was the three air balls against you tall. It
• 41:01
Speaker 1: was in Utah, I believe, and I was watching that.
• 41:03
Speaker 1: My heart just sank the first air ball, my second airball, third.
• 41:08
Speaker 1: I was on the floor. My mom was like getting like, yeah,
• 41:13
Speaker 1: I'm so sad, you know, but that's what made him
• 41:17
Speaker 1: even better. He realized he needed to lift more weight
• 41:21
Speaker 1: to have more you know, at the end of the game,
• 41:22
Speaker 1: your legs can't be tired, you know, things like that.
• 41:25
Speaker 4: So it helps shape you know, who he is. This
• 41:29
Speaker 4: legacy that continues and will always continue to keep. Okay,
• 41:34
  Speaker 4: let's play a game.
• 41:35
Speaker 1: Talk about you, okay, Okay, I got this or that?
• 41:40
Speaker 4: Okay, Oh now, y'all's it's me, okay, both of y'all. Yeah, okay,
• 41:46
Speaker 4: Well ask Sha first and then somewhere you can go
• 41:48
Speaker 4: movie night or game night.
• 41:50
  Speaker 1: Movie night.
• 41:51
Speaker 2: Definitely definitely moving night into games are game player.
• 41:57
Speaker 4: I'm not thinking like what game will we play? Probably
• 41:59
Speaker 4: like Picturenaire or something.
• 42:02
Speaker 1: What is picture Oh my god.
• 42:03
  Speaker 4: You're not old, You're not it's me.
• 42:06
Speaker 1: It's me. It's not you, it's not you get like
• 42:09
Speaker 1: a whole clipboard, and then the word is like telephone,
• 42:11
Speaker 1: and then you have to like maybe it's called something else.
• 42:15
Speaker 2: You probably have played it just to know that's the
• 42:16
Speaker 2: name of it, probably yeah.
• 42:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, or like heads up that yeah, thing like things
• 42:21
Speaker 1: like that. The movie is good.
• 42:23
  Speaker 2: But I'm gonna pick a.
• 42:24
  Speaker 4: B what's your favorite movie?
• 42:30
  Speaker 2: I can't do it.
• 42:30
Speaker 4: It's too hard. I think so many. Okay, well, okay,
• 42:35
Speaker 4: you're let's give it within like the last ten years,
• 42:40
Speaker 4: what's been your favorite movie?
• 42:41
  Speaker 1: Or five?
• 42:41
Speaker 4: Okay, five years a year.
• 42:43
Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of what a lot of movie?
• 42:45
Speaker 1: What's on like TV that if it's on you will
• 42:48
Speaker 1: just watch it? Does that make sense?
• 42:49
Speaker 2: Over and over? That's for me?
• 42:51
Speaker 4: Bad Boys, I could always watch Bad Boys. First one,
• 42:54
Speaker 4: first one, yeah, first one. Yeah, I love Bad Boys.
• 42:57
Speaker 1: I think I'm going with Friday.
• 42:59
  Speaker 4: Okay, that's that's a good one. That's I'm watching it.
• 43:04
Speaker 1: I mean, if you're going to commercial, may turn and
• 43:05
Speaker 1: then turn back going back for Classic.
• 43:10
  Speaker 2: Forrest.
• 43:11
  Speaker 1: I'm watching Interesting.
• 43:13
Speaker 5: I'm so random and I love I mean the movies
• 43:18
Speaker 5: that I love, which is like Color Purple, which is
• 43:20
  Speaker 5: my first movie.
• 43:21
Speaker 4: It's like my movie, but like that's me, like the
• 43:25
  Speaker 4: long Malcolm X.
• 43:28
Speaker 1: She's going real deep go Friday.
• 43:30
Speaker 4: That's what I'm like. American Banks Friday. I'm watching okay,
• 43:34
Speaker 4: watching watching Friday too.
• 43:35
Speaker 2: I'm definitely watching Friday.
• 43:37
  Speaker 4: Inside jokes or.
• 43:39
  Speaker 1: Storytelling inside jokes.
• 43:43
  Speaker 2: Yeah, storytelling.
• 43:45
Speaker 1: I can do that.
• 43:48
Speaker 4: And I can see inside jokes your jokes jokes literally,
• 43:54
Speaker 4: v h S or DVD. Do you know what that is?
• 43:57
  Speaker 1: I do?
• 43:58
Speaker 4: I do because I used I Look, I would be able.
• 44:00
Speaker 4: I knew how to rewind and like you get in
• 44:03
Speaker 4: the thing and you like, right, you can. That's a cassette.
• 44:07
  Speaker 4: You're talking about a cassette.
• 44:10
Speaker 2: I've done it before, because.
• 44:12
Speaker 1: Okay, d HS or DVDs. Definitely dvs.
• 44:19
  Speaker 4: I'm really mad.
• 44:19
Speaker 2: DVD im too. I recently got rid of my collection
• 44:22
Speaker 2: because I mean, my collection was vast. I had so many,
• 44:26
Speaker 2: but I was like, what are we going to do
• 44:27
  Speaker 2: with it?
• 44:27
  Speaker 4: Nothing?
• 44:27
Speaker 1: It's going to come back, though, is it? I don't know?
• 44:30
Speaker 1: And may you know everything but everything going on in
• 44:33
  Speaker 1: this world?
• 44:33
  Speaker 4: That maybe.
• 44:38
  Speaker 1: All right?
• 44:39
Speaker 4: And all the classics are on there, that's true. Cook
• 44:43
Speaker 4: at home or eat out?
• 44:45
Speaker 1: Okay, this is kind of weird. I don't cook, Why
• 44:48
  Speaker 1: is it weird?
• 44:49
Speaker 4: Well, I guess the next question is you don't cook.
• 44:52
Speaker 1: But can you cook? I can? They're okay, well that period,
• 44:55
Speaker 1: So I'm going with eating out there.
• 44:57
Speaker 4: Yeah, but why is it weird?
• 44:58
  Speaker 2: Though?
• 44:58
Speaker 4: Well, that's that weird.
• 44:59
Speaker 1: Because as it's so like my husband and I, our
• 45:02
Speaker 1: roles are completely reversed, like the traditional the traditional, so
• 45:06
Speaker 1: he does all the cooking and things.
• 45:08
Speaker 4: Like that, and kid, yeah, I know the right one
• 45:14
Speaker 4: reverse okay, but if you have if if all the
• 45:17
Speaker 4: stores shut down, Look, we need to know how to survive.
• 45:19
Speaker 1: Okay, exactly. That's what people come here. I know they're
• 45:22
Speaker 1: gonna eat. They're fine. That's all you good to do?
• 45:27
Speaker 4: Chef or chauffeur. I guess I kind of know the answer.
• 45:32
  Speaker 4: I know yours.
• 45:32
Speaker 2: I'm definitely doing the chauffeur.
• 45:34
  Speaker 4: Yeah, well I.
• 45:36
Speaker 1: Already have a chef's husband, the husband first, and so
• 45:39
Speaker 1: I'm gonna go to show. Okay, already, Look, I get
• 45:42
Speaker 1: the chef for free. I ain't free, though, just get it.
• 45:50
  Speaker 4: It's gonna left.
• 45:50
  Speaker 1: It's real left.
• 45:53
  Speaker 4: It's not free.
• 45:54
  Speaker 1: What I mean?
• 45:56
Speaker 4: Be hot here girl, girl and summer and winter.
• 46:04
Speaker 1: I'm a summer baby too, definitely.
• 46:06
Speaker 4: You can have a white Christmas.
• 46:09
Speaker 1: No, I ain't doing that. I want to see it
• 46:11
Speaker 1: on TV. I don't want to be in it.
• 46:13
Speaker 4: I don't want to. But you'all were raised in the
• 46:16
Speaker 4: in the cold. I'm Houston girls, you know I didn't
• 46:19
Speaker 4: experience it. Thanksgiving our Christmas.
• 46:28
Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Thanksgiving favorite dish. Yeahs, No marshmallows.
• 46:36
  Speaker 1: We're not a marshmallow and I'm not a marshmallow person.
• 46:39
Speaker 1: So yeahs. Turkey, gravy, corn bread, stuffings, green beans. Like
• 46:46
Speaker 1: I got a whole plate, Like where do you put
• 46:49
Speaker 1: like where's your past?
• 46:50
Speaker 2: Do you put your next to your yams?
• 46:53
  Speaker 1: Or like what?
• 46:54
Speaker 4: So what I do is.
• 46:58
Speaker 1: Get my turkey, yeah, slice, you get the gravy. I
• 47:02
Speaker 1: put the mac and cheese next to it because sometimes
• 47:05
Speaker 1: I like the gravy to touch the mac and cheese.
• 47:08
Speaker 1: And then I do the green beans and then put
• 47:11
Speaker 1: the yams on the other side because I don't want
• 47:13
Speaker 1: the gravy touch in the yams.
• 47:15
Speaker 2: That makes sense to the yams.
• 47:19
Speaker 4: So yeah. So y'all seem like the people who y'all
• 47:23
Speaker 4: have to eat one food at a time before you
• 47:25
Speaker 4: eat the next, or can y'all see, I can chapotle it.
• 47:28
Speaker 4: It can all be in one ball, baby.
• 47:31
Speaker 2: It's more so like it has to go together.
• 47:33
Speaker 5: Like, for instance, if the cranberry sauce touches the dressing,
• 47:36
Speaker 5: that's okay, But the.
• 47:38
Speaker 2: Cranberry sauce does not need to touch. The green beans
• 47:47
  Speaker 2: cannot touch.
• 47:47
Speaker 5: Migraines have to be in a separate bowl because I
• 47:50
Speaker 5: don't want the pot liquor like on the other stuff,
• 47:53
Speaker 5: and I want my plate wet.
• 47:54
Speaker 2: But I need to be able to dunk the corporated
• 47:57
  Speaker 2: mm hmm.
• 47:58
Speaker 1: You me, what's coming on? What's the next holiday?
• 48:00
Speaker 4: I'm getting hum like that. I'm gonna be looking at
• 48:05
Speaker 4: Thanksgiving dinners completely different. It's a curation, you know what
• 48:12
Speaker 4: I'm saying? Oh God, I'm gonna have anxiety. Texting or FaceTime, FaceTime,
• 48:19
Speaker 4: definitely FaceTime. Okay, Well, what would y'all do if, like
• 48:21
Speaker 4: a random person who you typically don't FaceTime FaceTime? You like,
• 48:26
Speaker 4: what y'all answer? Were you?
• 48:27
  Speaker 1: Like?
• 48:27
Speaker 4: All right, this is not our relationship. Don't FaceTime me again?
• 48:30
Speaker 1: Text me? I like facetiming people. I don't know if
• 48:34
  Speaker 1: I want a random.
• 48:35
Speaker 4: Person face wait what anybody?
• 48:38
Speaker 2: Or just like random?
• 48:40
Speaker 4: I mean she said random.
• 48:41
Speaker 1: Let me tell you one time someone tried to FaceTime me.
• 48:43
Speaker 1: I didn't recognize the phone number. That makes I did
• 48:46
Speaker 1: not pick it up.
• 48:47
  Speaker 2: Same.
• 48:47
  Speaker 4: Yeah, that's weird.
• 48:48
Speaker 2: No, no, no, I thought you.
• 48:49
Speaker 4: I thought you were saying, like I like to FaceTime you,
• 48:52
  Speaker 4: but I don't want to.
• 48:55
Speaker 1: You're like, who are they talking to?
• 48:59
  Speaker 3: Like?
• 48:59
Speaker 1: God it people? You know you were like like, you know,
• 49:03
Speaker 1: like I want to be like I'm ready, Like I'm ready,
• 49:08
Speaker 1: and then sometimes I let people see me when I'm
• 49:09
  Speaker 1: not ready.
• 49:10
Speaker 4: It depends on who calls.
• 49:14
Speaker 1: You know, you're good if my answer and I and
• 49:15
  Speaker 1: got it on.
• 49:17
Speaker 4: So like like so for a Tarah and I, for example,
• 49:20
Speaker 4: we face time like we don't even really text. We
• 49:22
Speaker 4: bypass that. Like if I'm like getting out the shower
• 49:25
Speaker 4: and I need to talk to her, I'm not like
• 49:27
Speaker 4: We're just gonna face time regular call her no more
• 49:30
  Speaker 4: at this point.
• 49:30
Speaker 1: It's just I know, you know, it is that a
• 49:34
Speaker 1: connection sometimes and things could get lost in translations. A
• 49:37
Speaker 1: lot of times you're like, oh, I really didn't mean that.
• 49:41
Speaker 1: Let me just call you or face time.
• 49:42
Speaker 4: So and also we have the ability to do it. Yeah,
• 49:44
Speaker 4: so I'm not I know, okay, sweet tooth or salty snack?
• 49:50
Speaker 1: Oh you already know.
• 49:51
Speaker 4: I already know. Definitely sweet, definitely, what's your saying a choice?
• 49:55
Speaker 1: What's your sweet? And then you're too Mariah things.
• 50:05
Speaker 4: But my beacon snacks really be good. My mom may
• 50:08
Speaker 4: bites my little chick pee, look at you do. But anyway,
• 50:15
  Speaker 4: you do have.
• 50:16
  Speaker 2: A favorite sweet treat. Car there's a there's a certain
• 50:20
Speaker 2: caramel corn that you like.
• 50:22
Speaker 4: Oh, my aunt Carolyn's popcorn. So her mother, I don't
• 50:25
Speaker 4: know if you know our relationship right.
• 50:27
Speaker 1: Her mother and my mother and sisters.
• 50:29
Speaker 4: So her mother has the best caramel popcorn, hands down.
• 50:33
Speaker 4: Like I have fought people like she's rude.
• 50:37
Speaker 2: Let's just be honest.
• 50:37
  Speaker 1: I have people.
• 50:39
Speaker 4: I'm not sharing my poor Absolutely. She was like like
• 50:42
Speaker 4: we're taking this to the hospital. They can get their own. Yeah,
• 50:45
Speaker 4: Like yeah, she doesn't very caring when it comes, very rude.
• 50:49
Speaker 4: God's working on me with work work in progress because
• 50:52
Speaker 4: I really love it. It's so like we need to
• 50:54
Speaker 4: we'll send you some. They are addicting. So now I
• 50:59
Speaker 4: can't go and get caramel popcorn from any other place.
• 51:02
Speaker 4: There is like a distinct difference between the two. And
• 51:06
Speaker 4: so I'm like She's ruined it for all the other brands.
• 51:09
Speaker 4: They're so good. We got you, we got you that,
• 51:11
Speaker 4: we got got you.
• 51:12
  Speaker 3: Ok.
• 51:12
Speaker 2: I'm cookie girl, what about you?
• 51:14
Speaker 1: Jelly? My nickname was chocolate Chip though when I was
• 51:17
Speaker 1: a kid. Yeah, my grandfather used to call me chocolate
• 51:19
Speaker 1: chip all the time. I don't know because chocolate maybe, yeah,
• 51:24
Speaker 1: chocolate chip. But my favorite is definitely jelly, like mister
• 51:27
  Speaker 1: jelly jelly beans.
• 51:29
Speaker 4: Road trip or flight?
• 51:32
Speaker 1: You know. I used to be terrified of flying, terrified,
• 51:36
Speaker 1: like I missed out on so many trips because of
• 51:38
Speaker 1: my fear. Okay, so I would say road trip. But
• 51:41
Speaker 1: as I get older, you put it in God's hands.
• 51:43
Speaker 1: There's a lot that has changed. So at this point
• 51:45
Speaker 1: I rather get on the fight.
• 51:47
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 51:47
Speaker 2: So I'm like you.
• 51:49
Speaker 5: I'm not a I've never been afraid to fly, but
• 51:50
Speaker 5: I think recently the anxiety has gotten me.
• 51:53
Speaker 4: But I still prefer to fly because driving long.
• 51:56
Speaker 2: Distances makes me more nervous than Okay, that makes sense. Yeah,
• 51:59
Speaker 2: but if I get it like you do, I do
• 52:01
Speaker 2: have to say my prayer yeah and just go absolutely yeah.
• 52:05
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 52:06
Speaker 4: I've talked about this on an episode, but I like
• 52:08
Speaker 4: the train. If you didn't know that about me. I
• 52:10
Speaker 4: love trains. I love train rides like absolutely Amtrak. But
• 52:15
Speaker 4: telling about Amtrak, yeah gets I have gone from New
• 52:18
Speaker 4: Orleans to California on the train with my baby by myself.
• 52:23
  Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but it's it's.
• 52:26
  Speaker 1: Really nice.
• 52:27
Speaker 4: You get a room, you get three meals a day,
• 52:29
Speaker 4: you have you can dine with other people.
• 52:32
Speaker 1: I would want to get out.
• 52:34
Speaker 4: I don't stop. So that's why it takes so long,
• 52:37
Speaker 4: because we don't really have an express train that goes
• 52:40
Speaker 4: from east to west. We have a couple in like
• 52:43
Speaker 4: New York to like New York Philly, but they don't
• 52:45
Speaker 4: have that going out like for a longer distance. You
• 52:48
Speaker 4: stop a lot. I want to do it, I say, babe,
• 52:52
Speaker 4: I want to go with you one time. Everyone should
• 52:53
Speaker 4: do it at least once.
• 52:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, I really think.
• 52:56
Speaker 4: I really think it's just well, maybe not New Orleans
• 53:00
Speaker 4: to l A like a three day trip, but even
• 53:03
  Speaker 4: like Sacramento to l A, Okay, l A to Seattle.
• 53:08
Speaker 4: Have you done LA to San Diego?
• 53:11
  Speaker 1: Yeah?
• 53:11
Speaker 4: And that rides you along. Thing.
• 53:12
Speaker 1: I've been on the train maybe three times in my life.
• 53:15
Speaker 1: I've never been on the subway.
• 53:16
Speaker 4: Now. I did that one time and it never again.
• 53:22
Speaker 1: My mom because we were young. I came back, I
• 53:24
Speaker 1: was in high school, so we weren't really.
• 53:29
  Speaker 4: Sneakers or heels.
• 53:30
Speaker 1: Sneakers. Sneakers now at this age.
• 53:33
Speaker 4: Now, that's what I was going to say right now,
• 53:35
  Speaker 4: definitely sneakers, glamor.
• 53:37
Speaker 1: Natural natural on any given day. Yeah, but obviously for
• 53:43
Speaker 1: things like that. But your day to day is day
• 53:46
Speaker 1: to day is natural, Okay, hair up or hair down,
• 53:51
Speaker 1: hair down, always part in the middle, never side, period.
• 53:54
  Speaker 4: Period, period.
• 53:55
Speaker 2: I love it as you can look.
• 53:57
Speaker 5: Actually, mine is permanent because my mom put my hair.
• 54:00
Speaker 5: My mother put my hair in picktails like every day, so.
• 54:03
  Speaker 4: Now she's like a permanent part stuff. I can't. It
• 54:07
Speaker 4: just kind of goes back, So I don't know, not
• 54:09
Speaker 4: blaming it on your mama. It's take the photo or
• 54:12
Speaker 4: be in the photo.
• 54:14
Speaker 1: I could do. I could do either. Or when it's
• 54:16
Speaker 1: with my kids, I love taking photos of them. But
• 54:19
Speaker 1: I remember my mom's not on a lot of our
• 54:21
Speaker 1: photos because she was always the one taking them. So
• 54:24
Speaker 1: I'm more conscious to be in the photos so I
• 54:26
Speaker 1: could always remember and have those memories.
• 54:28
Speaker 4: Could be like, oh, where's Mom, Yeah that was there, Yeah,
• 54:31
Speaker 4: but I was taking it. Yeah you too.
• 54:34
Speaker 2: I I'm getting better at my picture taking. Yeah, photo taking, so.
• 54:40
Speaker 5: I will say that, but I love being I love
• 54:43
Speaker 5: being in the picture because I would actress.
• 54:46
  Speaker 4: I didn't know.
• 54:48
  Speaker 3: Leo.
• 54:49
  Speaker 4: I knew it, did you? I'm a Leo too, I'm
• 54:52
  Speaker 4: a Taurus. Taurus.
• 54:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, so your birthdays.
• 54:55
Speaker 4: May coming up? Yeah, August sixth oh, no way.
• 54:58
  Speaker 1: July thirtieth.
• 54:59
Speaker 4: Oh, y'all are just right on. That's why. Yeah, I
• 55:05
Speaker 4: ask the question of fire.
• 55:06
  Speaker 2: Definitely the fire.
• 55:07
Speaker 1: That's why I'm hot and sweat and bullets over here.
• 55:09
Speaker 4: Just fire we can break. Okay, we got just a
• 55:14
Speaker 4: few more. Overthink or trust your gut.
• 55:17
Speaker 1: I'm overthinking too, Like every scenario, I just keep going
• 55:22
Speaker 1: and playing and playing.
• 55:23
  Speaker 4: Yeah, me too.
• 55:24
Speaker 1: I gotta do better, though, I'm working on it.
• 55:26
Speaker 4: Do you have really bad anxiety? I did it before, Okay,
• 55:30
Speaker 4: As I get older, I feel.
• 55:31
Speaker 1: Like it's coming on. I'm like, what is this?
• 55:34
Speaker 4: I think it could be because we have access to
• 55:37
Speaker 4: too much information. I think that's part of it. Yeah,
• 55:40
Speaker 4: So we're consuming so much, so we're thinking about so
• 55:43
Speaker 4: many different things. Yeah, and so our brain's not resting.
• 55:46
Speaker 4: It's like we have at least for myself, I have
• 55:48
Speaker 4: twenty tabs open. It's because I'm thinking about this that
• 55:51
Speaker 4: I saw this on Instagram. I gotta do this for work.
• 55:54
Speaker 4: This is my kid, This is you know, it's just
• 55:57
Speaker 4: it's too much, you know, So it's our hormones. Don't
• 56:00
  Speaker 4: help that part.
• 56:02
Speaker 2: The hormone changes it, just it we never mind.
• 56:11
  Speaker 1: I'm right there.
• 56:17
Speaker 4: My husband's watching this like we love all our spouses.
• 56:21
Speaker 1: Absolutely, I'm going to be able to do this without Let's.
• 56:24
Speaker 4: And with one more. Michelle Obama this is like my
• 56:28
Speaker 4: I love this this one. Do we are we going
• 56:31
Speaker 4: low or high? When they go low? Are we going high?
• 56:35
Speaker 4: Are we going to keep it low?
• 56:36
Speaker 1: Can we be somewhere in the middle?
• 56:38
Speaker 4: We can't. We can't. I guess it depends on the situation.
• 56:42
Speaker 4: Because it is about my kids.
• 56:44
Speaker 1: I'm dragging you all the way down just like hell
• 56:46
  Speaker 1: we go yeah.
• 56:48
Speaker 4: Hell yeah, We're gonna take it like no hesitations, But
• 56:54
Speaker 4: anybody else will, just like anyone that's walking down the street,
• 56:58
  Speaker 4: You're like.
• 56:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, same with the comments going on, I G and stuff.
• 57:01
Speaker 1: You just let it, just let it ride.
• 57:03
Speaker 4: Share You're a queen, try because I could never.
• 57:07
Speaker 2: That's how we got here, That's.
• 57:08
Speaker 4: How we got here. But I told you, yeah, because
• 57:12
Speaker 4: I didn't handle it well and it's part of your
• 57:16
Speaker 4: Yeah whatever, No, I didn't handle it well. Okay, so
• 57:22
Speaker 4: you needed a space to be space.
• 57:25
  Speaker 1: Okay, I needed a space.
• 57:26
Speaker 4: But that's another conversation. But I'm happy to know that
• 57:30
Speaker 4: you weren't like me and you actually took just whatever
• 57:33
Speaker 4: came with your name with grace and you you went
• 57:38
  Speaker 4: the high road.
• 57:39
Speaker 1: Good for you, sis, Thank you. I'm trying. I'm trying
• 57:42
Speaker 1: a lot of narratives out there, but I'm trying to Yes.
• 57:45
Speaker 4: No, you've done well, You've really done well. I'm so proud.
• 57:49
  Speaker 4: I'm so serious because there's times where I'm like I
• 57:52
  Speaker 4: could never.
• 57:53
Speaker 1: I'm gonna talk it up to the tourist.
• 57:54
Speaker 4: Yeah, like because the girl, because there's times like if
• 57:57
Speaker 4: you would have told this person said what you Oh,
• 58:00
Speaker 4: we got a dragon that we got. Look we got
• 58:03
Speaker 4: to talk about like we got we just but not
• 58:07
  Speaker 4: so just trying.
• 58:09
Speaker 2: And I can tell that your mom is a big
• 58:11
Speaker 2: part of you. You can hear it.
• 58:14
Speaker 5: Yeah, and meeting you, listening to you today, like your
• 58:17
Speaker 5: mother is an anchor and has reared you in the
• 58:20
Speaker 5: right so you know when to pull back and yeah.
• 58:24
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you know what to do. Well, that was fun.
• 58:29
  Speaker 1: That was fun.
• 58:30
Speaker 4: I like it. Yeah, perfect. So then now let's go Sha.
• 58:36
Speaker 4: All right, let's talk about.
• 58:38
Speaker 2: You and what you're doing.
• 58:40
Speaker 5: So you said you were in the hospitality industry, So
• 58:43
Speaker 5: how did you get into that.
• 58:45
  Speaker 2: It's very specific.
• 58:47
Speaker 1: It's always about a boy. This is before I was married,
• 58:49
Speaker 1: so I could tell the story to tell. So going
• 58:54
Speaker 1: to Vegas on vacation, just kind of hanging out. We
• 58:57
Speaker 1: were at the say, at the Bellagio, and this guy
• 59:00
Speaker 1: opened the door for me and I was like, oh,
• 59:02
Speaker 1: thank you so much. And he's like, oh, you're so anyway,
• 59:05
Speaker 1: exchange phone numbers and I just kept his number. And
• 59:08
Speaker 1: then eventually when it moved to Vegas, I just reached
• 59:11
Speaker 1: out because I didn't know what I wanted to do,
• 59:13
Speaker 1: like for work. I'm like, hey, I just moved here,
• 59:17
Speaker 1: you know, you give me your number. I just wanted
• 59:19
Speaker 1: to see if there's anything that I can do as
• 59:21
Speaker 1: far as work. He's like, well, what do you like
• 59:23
Speaker 1: to do? I'm like, well, I'm very friendly, I'm outgoing.
• 59:25
Speaker 1: So he's like, whoa perfect My friend has a restaurant
• 59:29
Speaker 1: and do you want to be a hostess? I said sure.
• 59:33
Speaker 1: First day showed up. I had my heels on, I
• 59:35
Speaker 1: was looking cute girl. At the end of the shift,
• 59:37
Speaker 1: I was crawling to my car because you're on your
• 59:39
Speaker 1: feet for like eight hours. I was like, oh, I
• 59:42
Speaker 1: didn't know if I was going to make it, but
• 59:43
  Speaker 1: I made it.
• 59:44
  Speaker 4: I mean.
• 59:44
Speaker 1: And then in hospitality from hostessing to management, and then
• 59:49
Speaker 1: management to like special events and now oversee you know
• 59:54
Speaker 1: all these events. And I've been in the hospitality business
• 59:55
  Speaker 1: for twenty.
• 1:00:00
Speaker 4: Years twenty two okay, yeah, a long time. And you
• 1:00:02
Speaker 4: want to stay in why not?
• 1:00:05
Speaker 1: Okay? And it's good to me. I'm a people person anyway,
• 1:00:09
Speaker 1: so it's totally fine. But yeah, I think it's good.
• 1:00:12
Speaker 1: I like to eat.
• 1:00:14
  Speaker 4: And entertaining.
• 1:00:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, I me and my husband like, please don't leave
• 1:00:18
Speaker 1: that job because I like to eat and go out
• 1:00:20
  Speaker 1: and okay baby.
• 1:00:21
Speaker 4: Yeah, and it gives you some flexibility still, it does
• 1:00:25
Speaker 4: have some self care and and your monthly we love
• 1:00:29
Speaker 4: that for you. Was this like a dream job of
• 1:00:32
Speaker 4: yours or like, what what did you think you would
• 1:00:34
Speaker 4: be as a child.
• 1:00:37
  Speaker 1: First I thought a dentist, but then I realized I
• 1:00:40
Speaker 1: don't want to go on everyone's mouth, so that ain't
• 1:00:43
  Speaker 1: for me.
• 1:00:43
Speaker 4: Germs yeah, we don't do that.
• 1:00:45
Speaker 1: Yeah, and then I thought maybe a veterinarian.
• 1:00:48
  Speaker 4: Oh wow.
• 1:00:49
Speaker 1: But then I was like, then I got to take
• 1:00:51
Speaker 1: care of ferrets, rats, lizards, just other stuff because I
• 1:00:56
Speaker 1: was like, can I just be a cat and dog
• 1:00:59
  Speaker 1: that work?
• 1:00:59
  Speaker 3: You know?
• 1:01:00
Speaker 4: Specialty? All right? Is that a thing?
• 1:01:04
Speaker 1: So anyway, moved away from that and then I don't know,
• 1:01:06
Speaker 1: I just kind of fell into hospitality just being there,
• 1:01:09
  Speaker 1: being around people.
• 1:01:10
Speaker 2: And yeah, you found it. So what are some of
• 1:01:14
Speaker 2: your other passions? Like what are you passionate about?
• 1:01:18
  Speaker 4: Sleeping?
• 1:01:19
  Speaker 1: Just kidding?
• 1:01:19
Speaker 2: I mean, hey, I mean it's important. Our doctors talk
• 1:01:25
Speaker 2: about sleep health, so it's very important.
• 1:01:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it is. It's really self care. I'm
• 1:01:30
Speaker 1: like the queen of self care.
• 1:01:32
Speaker 4: I will love like I love when women talk about this.
• 1:01:35
Speaker 1: Yeah, we need to have more of it. I think
• 1:01:37
Speaker 1: that's my passion really, just taking care. Porn into you, right,
• 1:01:42
Speaker 1: so you could be better for everyone else? Yeah, did
• 1:01:47
  Speaker 1: you ever.
• 1:01:47
Speaker 4: Feel this pressure of becoming like mm hmm, you see
• 1:01:53
Speaker 4: she said, let me finish, let me stop, let me stop,
• 1:01:57
Speaker 4: because that could only be me exactly.
• 1:01:59
Speaker 1: You know what good for other people? They could do,
• 1:02:02
Speaker 1: you know, whatever works for them. But I know what
• 1:02:04
Speaker 1: works for me in my dreams. I mean, yes, I'm thinking,
• 1:02:08
Speaker 1: you know, God has a plan to right, so what
• 1:02:11
  Speaker 1: I'm envisioning, He's envisioning something.
• 1:02:14
Speaker 5: Right. You seem so sure of yourself, like you've always
• 1:02:17
Speaker 5: been like that is that? Where do you think that
• 1:02:20
Speaker 5: comes from being so secure in yourself?
• 1:02:24
Speaker 1: I want to say that my parents and grandma, that's
• 1:02:26
Speaker 1: just the way you were raised in that confidence, you know,
• 1:02:29
Speaker 1: and just kind of giving us that free reign to
• 1:02:32
Speaker 1: be who you want.
• 1:02:33
Speaker 4: To be and not really Yeah, I love that for
• 1:02:37
Speaker 4: women because they typically like to put the women in
• 1:02:40
Speaker 4: a box. But it seems like you were taught that it.
• 1:02:44
Speaker 1: Could be whatever step outside that thing you don't have
• 1:02:47
Speaker 1: to and then if you find something, you step into
• 1:02:49
Speaker 1: it and you don't like it, Okay, she tried to
• 1:02:52
Speaker 1: give it and you move on.
• 1:02:53
  Speaker 4: Period.
• 1:02:55
  Speaker 1: We love it.
• 1:02:56
Speaker 4: We love it. Where do you see yourself in five years,
• 1:02:58
Speaker 4: ten years? Career wise?
• 1:03:00
Speaker 1: Oo? Well, look, my babies are ones off the college
• 1:03:06
  Speaker 1: this year.
• 1:03:07
Speaker 4: We're not empty nesting yet.
• 1:03:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, so I have boys one off figure out where
• 1:03:13
Speaker 1: she's going here soon Okay, I don't know, I mean definitely,
• 1:03:18
Speaker 1: my other one will probably be in college at that point,
• 1:03:20
Speaker 1: and then we'll be left with one my baby, you know.
• 1:03:25
Speaker 1: I know for sure Michael and I would want to
• 1:03:27
Speaker 1: travel more. I think it's hard since we've been married,
• 1:03:30
Speaker 1: because we're coming up on twenty years. It's taking vacations
• 1:03:36
Speaker 1: just him and I always had that little bit of
• 1:03:38
Speaker 1: mom guilt. I don't have mom guilt when I go
• 1:03:40
Speaker 1: to the SPA and girls trips because I know my
• 1:03:42
Speaker 1: husband's there. Yeah, does that make sense? Like it does?
• 1:03:45
Speaker 1: I know he's there with the kids, So it's kind
• 1:03:47
Speaker 1: of it's easier for me to, you know, go on
• 1:03:49
Speaker 1: the trips. But I think for him and I I
• 1:03:52
Speaker 1: think just reconnecting too once the kids are older, because
• 1:03:56
Speaker 1: I see that happening too. Once the kids are out,
• 1:03:58
Speaker 1: you're looking like who are you? Oh yeah, you're my spouse. Okay,
• 1:04:01
Speaker 1: where you've been? Like, I gotta nice to see you again.
• 1:04:03
Speaker 1: Nice to see you again, friend? Yeah? Do you still
• 1:04:06
  Speaker 1: like me?
• 1:04:07
  Speaker 4: All right, let's go, let's take a.
• 1:04:09
Speaker 1: Vacation, right. Yeah. So I think that's that will be
• 1:04:12
Speaker 1: it once they're all out us just traveling and as.
• 1:04:15
Speaker 5: You're evolving into, you know, in your career and your
• 1:04:20
Speaker 5: kids moving out and becoming their own people. Where are
• 1:04:24
Speaker 5: you hoping, like what mindset are you hoping to have
• 1:04:27
  Speaker 5: or to attain.
• 1:04:28
Speaker 1: M hm, that they're okay, that they're good, that we
• 1:04:32
Speaker 1: did like job well done. Yeah h I mean the
• 1:04:37
Speaker 1: state of the world right now. I'm a little I'm
• 1:04:38
Speaker 1: a little nervous. I'm not gonna lie. The anxiety is
• 1:04:40
Speaker 1: hella highs. I just don't know the world that we're
• 1:04:43
Speaker 1: leading to our children or just you know, for the
• 1:04:45
Speaker 1: next generation. But I just want to make sure they're okay.
• 1:04:51
Speaker 4: Well, Mama se is gonna make sure that they're prepared
• 1:04:54
Speaker 4: and ready for the world for sure.
• 1:04:55
Speaker 1: I send them some crazy reels. I'm like this my mom, Like, Mom,
• 1:05:02
Speaker 1: please stop sending me.
• 1:05:04
Speaker 4: That is my mother. That is Terry Woodson. Like every
• 1:05:07
Speaker 4: like every couple of minutes, you'll send like a new
• 1:05:09
Speaker 4: Yeah she's sending me right, Yeah, Okay. My phone's on
• 1:05:14
Speaker 4: D and D so that's why I keep touching. Oh yeah,
• 1:05:20
Speaker 4: So your babies are going to flourish.
• 1:05:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're all so different too.
• 1:05:26
Speaker 4: It's just kind of like, but you all have done
• 1:05:28
Speaker 4: a beautiful job. Thank you. So it runs in the family.
