- 0:01Speaker 1: Well, so the ex bowl. I was reading this story
- 0:05Speaker 1: the other day about parents who said they lie to
- 0:09Speaker 1: their kids and what they lie to their kids about,
- 0:12Speaker 1: and so an ex bowl would be what what's the
- 0:15Speaker 1: what have you lied to your children about? Or when
- 0:18Speaker 1: you were a kid, what did your parents lie to
- 0:20Speaker 1: you about. Here's a couple of examples. This one says
- 0:26Speaker 1: every single I told my kids, every single car accident
- 0:28Speaker 1: we passed was because the kids were fighting in the
- 0:31Speaker 1: backseat of the car. I told my daughter that whenever
- 0:36Speaker 1: a kid lies to her parents to their parents, their
- 0:38Speaker 1: eyes glow. Oh, so now I know she's lying if
- 0:42Speaker 1: she's squinting while she's telling me something. I told my kid,
- 0:47Speaker 1: all the candy at the front in the checkouts, it's expired.
- 0:49Speaker 1: That's why they put it up front. Oh that's a
- 0:51Speaker 1: good one. I like that.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, here's one from a Texter. When I was little,
- 0:56Speaker 2: I was a messy eater like most kids. My mom
- 0:59Speaker 2: used to tell me that the restaurants that we went
- 1:01Speaker 2: to were out of spaghetti.
- 1:02Speaker 1: To avoid a mess. They don't have spaghetti.
- 1:06Speaker 2: So sorry. Let's see here we go. Let's start with Tasha, Hi, Tasha.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Good morning.
- 1:15Speaker 4: How are you guys?
- 1:16Speaker 1: Great, thanks for participating in the ex Bowl. Have you
- 1:20Speaker 1: lied to your children about something.
- 1:23Speaker 5: So todd We'll probably get a kick out of this
- 1:25Speaker 5: because it has to do with his coffee bitch Austin. Okay,
- 1:30Speaker 5: when he was young and I had to work a lot,
- 1:33Speaker 5: I wanted to try to kind of limit how much
- 1:37Speaker 5: video game he was playing, and so to control that,
- 1:40Speaker 5: I told him that I had access to the electric
- 1:44Speaker 5: company to find out how much power he was using on.
- 1:47Speaker 6: The studio games.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Good, that's good. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:52Speaker 7: It worked for a while.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Nicole from Ready Kill a Lot says, you're playing an
- 1:56Speaker 2: awful lot of game.
- 1:57Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Good, that's good. Okay, thank you, Tasha.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Yeah, have a good day.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Thanks for going.
- 2:03Speaker 2: All right, let's go to woodworker Willy. Hello, woodworker Willy.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Hello, Hello.
- 2:11Speaker 3: I don't know if it wasn't the biggest lie we
- 2:15Speaker 3: were told this kids because we were raised Mormon. But
- 2:18Speaker 3: the dumbest, the dumbest one was.
- 2:22Speaker 8: My dad.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Every time we drove by the refineries and the torches
- 2:24Speaker 3: were going, uh, he said, he used to light him
- 2:28Speaker 3: and if you got three blisters you would die, and
- 2:30Speaker 3: he only got two and a half.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I nu, and he told us that all the time.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I'm not sure what he was trying to do there. Yeah,
- 2:40Speaker 1: it does to make himself self. It's it's like such
- 2:44Speaker 1: a dad joke like those you know.
- 2:47Speaker 8: I yeah, I try to keep us from working in
- 2:51Speaker 8: the refinery.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Ah okay, all right, all right, thank you.
- 2:54Speaker 2: You didn't see where you were going.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 2:56Speaker 2: All rights go to Jonie Hello, Jony, hey, right, go ahead.
- 3:05Speaker 7: So I found this really cool golden tank that was
- 3:09Speaker 7: made of bullets at the gas station in beaver Utah,
- 3:13Speaker 7: and I bought it and I brought it home and
- 3:15Speaker 7: I knew right away that the kids were going to
- 3:16Speaker 7: get was cool, and they did so, but I didn't
- 3:19Speaker 7: really want them to touch it, so I told them
- 3:21Speaker 7: his name is tank to tank he is allergic to children,
- 3:26Speaker 7: so do not touch him. And they believe it. You
- 3:30Speaker 7: were so scared to touch him, and he somehow stayed
- 3:32Speaker 7: in tact the whole time. So that was great.
- 3:34Speaker 1: And what do you mean a tank?
- 3:37Speaker 7: It was a golden tank made of tiny bullets.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Oh, like a military tank.
- 3:45Speaker 7: Yeah, but I had bought it at a gas station
- 3:47Speaker 7: in beaver Utah.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Oh okay, like a toy tank.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Well, I could see what you would not want your
- 3:54Speaker 1: children touching a valuable item, like something you bought at
- 3:57Speaker 1: a gas station in beaver family heirloom. Now right, all right,
- 4:03Speaker 1: thank you? All right.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Let's see. I used to tell my kids that happy
- 4:08Speaker 2: meals were only sold on happy meal days.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's good.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Today's not a happy meal day. Sorry about that. Let's see.
- 4:17Speaker 2: When I asked my mom about the sore taste bud
- 4:20Speaker 2: on my tongue, she said it was caused by telling lies.
- 4:27Speaker 1: My mom had eyes in the back of her head.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Okay, let's see, my Let's see. When my kids were little,
- 4:36Speaker 2: I would tell them I needed to get something from Grandma.
- 4:39Speaker 2: At nine thirty PM. I would put them in the
- 4:42Speaker 2: car and they would wake up at Disneyland. Well that's
- 4:44Speaker 2: a good one.
- 4:44Speaker 1: That's a happy lie, a happy one, somebody says. I
- 4:49Speaker 1: told my kids when we see dead squirrels on the road,
- 4:52Speaker 1: they're just taking a nap.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Oh. When the ice cream truck is playing music, that
- 4:58Speaker 2: means they're out of ice cream.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I've heard that one before.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I told my kids we don't have favorites. Favorite kids.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I'm guessing.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I used to tell my kids I was straight. It's
- 5:12Speaker 2: another texture.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Well, okay, well, that's a whole other thing.
- 5:16Speaker 9: I don't I don't have kids, but we have a
- 5:18Speaker 9: beagle and we light to him all the time, as
- 5:20Speaker 9: in that's the.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Treats are all gone. There's no more treats.
- 5:23Speaker 9: Ramsey.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Yep, he doesn't care like I know better.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Let's go to Josh. Hello, Josh, going.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Good, good Josh, what's up? Go ahead? Tell us.
- 5:35Speaker 10: So my grandfather he used to tell us on road
- 5:38Speaker 10: trips every time we drove through a canyon that the
- 5:42Speaker 10: falling rock signs was them still hunting through the Native
- 5:46Speaker 10: American falling rock.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I've heard that before. So yeah, yeah, that's
- 5:51Speaker 1: a Native American guy falling rock. He's there, still looking
- 5:54Speaker 1: for him, watch out for him. Yeah yeah, very bizarre.
- 6:00Speaker 1: All right, Yeah, and.
- 6:01Speaker 8: We believed him for a real long time.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure of course. Yeah.
- 6:05Speaker 2: All right, thanks Josh.
- 6:07Speaker 10: Thanks guys.
- 6:08Speaker 1: All right, let's go to Joe.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Hello Joe, Hey, good morning, Hey Joe.
- 6:16Speaker 3: So we have a sailboat down in San Diego, and
- 6:19Speaker 3: our grandkids come and visit. And we were on our
- 6:24Speaker 3: way back to the boat in the beanie and the
- 6:26Speaker 3: boat cleaner this cleans the bottom was you can see
- 6:30Speaker 3: his in sticking up, and we told we told him
- 6:33Speaker 3: that it's a mermaid eating the lettuce off the bottom.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Of the boat.
- 6:41Speaker 1: That's kind of mean, isn't it should I told him
- 6:45Speaker 1: it was a shark.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it keeps us from jumping off the boat.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Well that's true, all right, all right, good, thank you,
- 6:52Speaker 1: thanks Joe eight seven seven six two six ninety six.
- 6:57Speaker 1: What sort of wise have you told your children? My
- 7:00Speaker 1: grandfather when I was really young, whenever we would drive up,
- 7:04Speaker 1: it's up Weaver Canyon where Devil's Slide is. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 7:08Speaker 1: devils slide and there's these two big rock formation side
- 7:11Speaker 1: by side. And my grandfather told me, and I believed
- 7:13Speaker 1: it for a while, that if you got there really
- 7:16Speaker 1: early in the morning, you would see little little devils
- 7:20Speaker 1: slide using the slide. It's a slippery slide that goes
- 7:23Speaker 1: straight to hell. How early. You just had to get
- 7:28Speaker 1: there really early, really early.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Keep it vague and then that way. Yeah, here's some texts.
- 7:35Speaker 2: We told our kids that the McDonald's playland was for
- 7:39Speaker 2: the employees kids only.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Good good, let's see.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I told my kids we don't have Christmas lights on
- 7:48Speaker 2: the outside of our house because they didn't come with
- 7:50Speaker 2: the house when I bought it.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Sure, Wow, okay.
- 7:56Speaker 2: I told my kids I was in the rock band kiss.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Oh all right. Let's see. On a trip home from
- 8:09Speaker 2: Oregon when I was a teenager, we drove through Yellowstone.
- 8:12Speaker 2: My parents lied to me and told me that Old
- 8:14Speaker 2: Faithful was a random geyser.
- 8:18Speaker 1: On time. What Randy, see.
- 8:24Speaker 2: This is why I would prefer you call because the texts.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Are We get lots of texts, and it's shuffling.
- 8:30Speaker 2: It shuffles them all and it screws them up.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Eight seven seven six oh two nine six nine six
- 8:37Speaker 1: is the number. Uh says uh. Here's one that says uh.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I used to tell them my kids, what says? My
- 8:45Speaker 1: kids have never eaten at McDonald's because whenever we went
- 8:48Speaker 1: sort of by it, I said, oh, it's closed, it's closed.
- 8:52Speaker 1: You can't we can't go there.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Oh, here's one. As a little kid, our dad had
- 8:56Speaker 2: us convinced that a one steak sauce was made of
- 8:58Speaker 2: beetles and grasshops. Yeah, he says he can eat it
- 9:02Speaker 2: because he learned to eat insects when he's in the Marines.
- 9:05Speaker 1: He was a real jerk. When I was in the marine,
- 9:09Speaker 1: my dad used to call soy sauce. Bug juice. It's
- 9:13Speaker 1: made out of bugs, Made out of bugs, bug juice.
- 9:16Speaker 1: It's go to Brian.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Hello, Brian.
- 9:19Speaker 8: Hey there, this is sort of the opposite. But my
- 9:22Speaker 8: parents were so hell bent on not lying. Now, our
- 9:25Speaker 8: Christmas presents from them would say their names, but the
- 9:29Speaker 8: Christmas presence from Santa Claus would just be left blank.
- 9:32Speaker 8: And we were just supposed to use our imagination.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Okay, I guess it didn't hurt anything, really, no, not really.
- 9:41Speaker 8: It still still we still believed in Santa up to
- 9:44Speaker 8: a point because you know.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Yeah, oh now, if if Gina were here, she would
- 9:50Speaker 1: say stop right now. Stop. She doesn't she doesn't want
- 9:53Speaker 1: to pee. She doesn't like that kind of talk on
- 9:55Speaker 1: the radio.
- 9:57Speaker 8: Oh right, there is still a sad clause.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Yeh, yes, there is, Yes, there is a Santa Claus.
- 10:04Speaker 1: All right, all right, thanks Brian.
- 10:05Speaker 8: Thanks.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Let's go to Kevin.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Hi, Kevin.
- 10:10Speaker 11: Hey, So, when my daughter was really young, she watched
- 10:15Speaker 11: the movie Five Old COEs to America or something like that.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that little mounse of liberty.
- 10:20Speaker 11: Yeah yeah, yeah, that's been for the next three weeks.
- 10:23Speaker 11: She wouldn't leave me alone, insisting that we would go
- 10:26Speaker 11: to the seed the statue of Liberty.
- 10:27Speaker 8: And I kept telling her, well, not today.
- 10:29Speaker 11: Not today. She wouldn't leave me alone. So I finally
- 10:32Speaker 11: packed her up, took her up to this is the
- 10:35Speaker 11: place state Park, showed her the statue up there, Bringham,
- 10:39Speaker 11: what is the statue of liberty?
- 10:41Speaker 1: And she left me alone? All right, said Brigham Young
- 10:44Speaker 1: the statue of Liberty?
- 10:45Speaker 6: All right?
- 10:46Speaker 1: Wow, there you go? Good? All right? Thank you? Tanya?
- 10:50Speaker 2: Hello, Tanya, Hi, how are you doing?
- 10:54Speaker 1: All right?
- 10:55Speaker 2: Let's hear these lies?
- 10:58Speaker 12: Okay, So my mother told us when we were kids,
- 11:02Speaker 12: if we stuck our fingers in our belly button and
- 11:05Speaker 12: picked it, or stuck our finger in our nose and
- 11:08Speaker 12: picked it, our butts.
- 11:09Speaker 6: Would fall off.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Your butt would fall off. Yeah, so what if you
- 11:14Speaker 1: stuck your finger well, never mind.
- 11:19Speaker 9: Then your nose would fall off. Bill, I'm all the
- 11:22Speaker 9: natural order of okay. Oh, that's all connected.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Sorry, Tanya, thank you, Ton's see you all right.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Let's go to Shelby.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Hi, Shelby.
- 11:29Speaker 12: Oh hello, how are you guys?
- 11:32Speaker 1: Great? What's what's the law here? So?
- 11:35Speaker 6: Growing up, my last name is Barker, and my father
- 11:38Speaker 6: always told me we related to Bob Barker on price
- 11:41Speaker 6: is right. In ninth grade, we were going to California
- 11:45Speaker 6: and I asked my dad if we were going to
- 11:47Speaker 6: see Uncle Bob and he was like, what are you
- 11:50Speaker 6: talking about? I said, well, isn't here our uncle? And
- 11:53Speaker 6: he goes, no, I I just was kidding with you
- 11:55Speaker 6: that your whole life apparently.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Oh ever, since where it was it? How did you feel?
- 12:01Speaker 1: How did you make you feel bad when you found
- 12:03Speaker 1: that out?
- 12:05Speaker 6: Yeah, it kind of made me feel dumb for believing it.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what dads are good for making their kids. Yeah,
- 12:12Speaker 1: good fathers. They make their kids feel stupid. That's what
- 12:15Speaker 1: they're supposed to do. Thanks Shelby, Thank you, you're welcome.
- 12:19Speaker 6: Have a good day.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Let's see mixture driver Shane here. My parents told me
- 12:24Speaker 2: that pre marital sex was bad. Actually it's really good.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Hey, Hey, thank you Shane.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Was it a lie or did it used to actually
- 12:32Speaker 2: be against the law to drive with lights on inside
- 12:36Speaker 2: the car? My wife and I both grew up with
- 12:38Speaker 2: our parents telling us they'd get arrested if they turned
- 12:41Speaker 2: the lights on in the car while they were driving.
- 12:45Speaker 1: That was always a thing.
- 12:47Speaker 9: Yeah, well, now you get a car and there's so
- 12:50Speaker 9: much crap that lights up in it. Yeah, you feel
- 12:53Speaker 9: like you're driving around in a dance club.
- 12:55Speaker 1: It's the reason you're not supposed to turn on the
- 12:57Speaker 1: dome light in the car, because it makes harder to see.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Mike from Santaquin here. I used to tell my son
- 13:07Speaker 2: that the slide at the park was made of chocolate,
- 13:10Speaker 2: because he hated chocolate and I didn't want to go
- 13:12Speaker 2: to the park.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I told my daughter we were going to visit my
- 13:18Speaker 2: dad in Colorado, and then I took her to Disneyland.
- 13:23Speaker 2: She thought Disney was in Colorado until just recently.
- 13:28Speaker 1: That's that's amazing. Here's one.
- 13:30Speaker 2: This is when we'd get a sty in our eye.
- 13:32Speaker 2: My parents would say we had been peeing in the road.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah, my dad.
- 13:36Speaker 2: But when my dad said it, he was kidding. I
- 13:39Speaker 2: knew he was kidd He's been paint in the road,
- 13:44Speaker 2: let's see. I told my kids that only Grandma's credit
- 13:48Speaker 2: card worked at McDonald's.
- 13:49Speaker 9: Why are all these are all centered around by McDonald's,
- 13:53Speaker 9: And that all of Mom's drinks were really spicy, so
- 13:57Speaker 9: don't drink.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Mom's drinks like those are spicy.
- 14:02Speaker 2: My mom told me I could get pregnant from French kissing.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Mmmm.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Well, well, let's see. When I was a kid, my
- 14:11Speaker 2: grandpa told me the big mole on his face it
- 14:16Speaker 2: was a beauty mark, and if we touched it and
- 14:18Speaker 2: then touched our faces they get one. They would get
- 14:21Speaker 2: one too. Let's see. Oh, we couldn't take our dog
- 14:29Speaker 2: with us when we moved, so we told the kids
- 14:31Speaker 2: that the dog went to live up on a farm
- 14:33Speaker 2: in Idaho. They had to take her to the pound.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I've heard that one.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Let's see, my mom and sister both have blue eyes.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I have brown eyes. My sister told me that everything
- 14:48Speaker 2: I see is in a shade of brown, and everything
- 14:50Speaker 2: she and mother sees is a shade of blue, and
- 14:54Speaker 2: it was prettier. My mom went along with this. Wasn't
- 14:58Speaker 2: until I had children twenty five years later that my
- 15:00Speaker 2: daughter told me that I should have told my sister
- 15:04Speaker 2: that she looks like a piece of crap. My mom
- 15:09Speaker 2: used to tell me that when I was a kid,
- 15:11Speaker 2: that a worm would grow in my stomach if I
- 15:13Speaker 2: didn't stop sucking my fingers.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see, here's Amy, Amy. Let's go to Amy. Hi, Hi, Amy,
- 15:21Speaker 1: What's what's the lie?
- 15:24Speaker 4: When I was a kid, I wanted to be a
- 15:26Speaker 4: Native American, really really bad, and so I'd always begged
- 15:30Speaker 4: my dad and ask him I was a Native American.
- 15:32Speaker 4: So finally one day he said, I don't know, show
- 15:34Speaker 4: me your foot. So I picked up my foot and
- 15:36Speaker 4: he said, yep, you're Blackfoot. So I ran around and
- 15:39Speaker 4: told all my friends I was a Blackfoot Indian.
- 15:45Speaker 1: What was the result of all of that when you
- 15:48Speaker 1: sort of realized you were being wied to?
- 15:52Speaker 4: I realized he was just silly, but I thought it
- 15:55Speaker 4: was super funny.
- 15:56Speaker 1: It was it was, and you really believed that you
- 15:59Speaker 1: were Native American for a few minutes.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Anyway, I probably thought I was Native American for through
- 16:07Speaker 4: elementary by junior high, I think I tried to figured
- 16:10Speaker 4: out my dad was just silly.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Yeah, wait a minute, all right, thank you?
- 16:16Speaker 9: All right?
- 16:17Speaker 2: My mom, My mom told me that the weed plant
- 16:19Speaker 2: growing in the back closet was just a plant that
- 16:21Speaker 2: was allergic to sunlight.
- 16:25Speaker 1: My mother's growing pot in the closet.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Occasionally, when you cook bacon, it makes a small squeal
- 16:30Speaker 2: sound when sizzling. My grandfather told me when I was
- 16:34Speaker 2: six years old, it's because the pig was still alive.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Oh man, I didn't eat bacon for a while after that.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 16:42Speaker 9: On the there was a text to carry on that
- 16:44Speaker 9: same note about the plant that's allergic to the sunlight.
- 16:47Speaker 9: Someone also text in that the expensive looking vase on
- 16:52Speaker 9: the top shelf in mama's closet was not a bong
- 16:56Speaker 9: but a very fragile vase.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Oh I can't play with that.
- 17:01Speaker 10: No.
- 17:01Speaker 2: When I was a little girl, my dad used to
- 17:03Speaker 2: tell me to eat the onions in my food because
- 17:05Speaker 2: they would put hair on my chest. I believed him
- 17:09Speaker 2: so scared I was gonna have hair on my chest.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Growing up, I think my grandparents used to tell me
- 17:14Speaker 1: that if I if I would eat the crust on
- 17:17Speaker 1: my bread, you know, because kids don't like the crust sometimes,
- 17:21Speaker 1: but it would give me curly hair. Okay.
- 17:27Speaker 2: My mom kept us from drinking her protein shakes by
- 17:30Speaker 2: saying it would make us grow monkey tails.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Wow.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Okay, there you go. That's your ex pole
