- 3:08job. Yes, very well done, very well done. And as he
- 3:14said, you know Gladys night Crawler. You know, y'all, I know
- 3:16what y'all tuned in for. This is now episode nine of X Men ninety
- 3:23seven. Tolerance is it's thank John Park dude. Mm hmm, now,
- 3:30I know. I don't know if it was before this episode came out,
- 3:34or like right around the episode came out. Voden Mayo gave us some homework.
- 3:37I feel like every week he's been giving everybody something. Yeah, he
- 3:38already gave something for next week. Okay, about what to watch to kind
- 3:43of get your mind right for what you're about to see in the episode.
- 3:46And it's not to reveal what's going to happen in episode. Is just to
- 3:49express or to frame your thoughts and the foundation of how they went about the
- 3:54episodes. Yep. Yeah, And for this one, he mentioned, well,
- 3:59I think it was for this one. Maybe you're talking about the next
- 4:00one, but this one, it is for this one he said to watch
- 4:02the X Men pilot and you were telling me about it. Ben actually one
- 4:06on YouTube to find it. And first of all, never seen a shit
- 4:11in my life, never even existed. It's unaired. It only that that
- 4:15was my first I don't mean it interject, but that was my first introduction
- 4:18to the to the X Men was that pilot. I can't remember what year
- 4:23I was in, you know, grammar school sometime and you know sometimes the
- 4:27teacher teacher coming and throw something on. They threw that on and my brain
- 4:30was scrambled. I was like, what is this? Well, it's actually
- 4:34good if I remember it. It was pretty good, well more than that
- 4:38for me, because I was barely born, so I didn't know that this.
- 4:41I was an X Men, Fox Kids, the animated series Kids,
- 4:45So that's how I knew X Men. So I don't even realize. I
- 4:48mean, obviously it has to be a pilot, right, But there's always
- 4:51these buried versions of like the original form of these shows that we love,
- 4:56and I saw I was looking at the little copyright credit in the bottom eighty
- 5:00eight or eighty nine, and I saw both. So I was just like,
- 5:02goddamn, Like they really tried this shit, a long time ago,
- 5:06Like I'm thinking the nineties ones was the first time. Well the first one
- 5:10was like ninety one ninety two, right, so you know, I don't
- 5:12know. Yeah, so it's like that's a pilot, you know, leading
- 5:15up into a ninety two or I think ninety three maybe something like that.
- 5:17It was late nineties by the time I was watching, so I don't know.
- 5:19Yeah, it was like mid nineties, well as it continued on,
- 5:23but yeah, it was. Yeah, I think that the pilot. From
- 5:28what I understand, the pilot wasn't aired or it was only aired a couple
- 5:30of times, I'm not sure, and then people bootled it of course,
- 5:33so it was always on VHS whatever throughout the years, and now you can
- 5:36find it on YouTube readily. But it's it's historically known. And I mentioned
- 5:41this before, probably on the first episode about it. When Wolverine talks with
- 5:45an Australian accent, damn the foresight in that. I was, first of
- 5:49all, first of all, he would growl before he would talk. Yeah,
- 5:53and then when he talked like that, when that accent came out,
- 5:56eyes said, holy shit, Hugh Jackman, and I was just like,
- 5:59but you know, I know, but It just made me think, oh
- 6:04my god, did they you know, like, how did they know?
- 6:06How did they know type stuff? Because Australians everybody. That's how the pilot
- 6:13was was basically, I mean, it was kind of all over the place,
- 6:15but it was just like it was about Magneto. He's not fucking with
- 6:19nobody, Asteroid m you know, uh, Professor X trying to lead the
- 6:26X Men to go after him, them annoyingly saying that this man is evil
- 6:30Magneto. I'm like, he ain't evil, he just misunderstood, you know,
- 6:32shit like that. I was fucking rolling. First of all, these
- 6:35eighties cartoons are hilarious, Like it's no go ahead. It's hilarious for a
- 6:43few reasons. One like the amish start was actually pretty good, I will
- 6:46say very it was. Actually I was impressed while I was watching. I
- 6:48was like, oh damn, it's from the eighties, like and and for
- 6:51them to like even the way they was displaying different powers, like obviously it
- 6:55was different, like how they show Night Caller daffing and different sounds, different
- 6:58looks, but it still looks good. Yeah, Magneto's showing off his electromagnetic
- 7:02powers really good. Like everything looked generally good for that time period. I'm
- 7:08just used to like frames being skipped being dropped like that, and this was
- 7:12pretty solid. Well, it's because it was a whole different animation team than
- 7:15who had been in the series. And yeah, so it looks like some
- 7:19of the people who worked on Robotech even because it has that style, like
- 7:24there's a lot of the same close ups and stuff when people are talking.
- 7:27It's an anime house. Yeah, definitely. So I'm pretty sure I know
- 7:31that name, so I'm pretty sure they Yeah, I'm probably yeah, yeah,
- 7:35yeah, they worked on Rubotech. I think they're the ones who own
- 7:38it to google that offhand. But it's like Sunrise and yeah, nigga,
- 7:45that's fucking the de I mean, we're not getting into that. It's a
- 7:48whole other, whole other conversation. But that's definitely Robotech. And the pilot
- 7:53is basically it's Pride of the X Men, and it's Pitty Pride being introduced
- 7:57to X Men. So it's the it's the typical pilot where it's a character
- 8:00who doesn't know the world is being introduced into the world and you follow that
- 8:05person's perspective to get you into the world. So it's a solid pilot,
- 8:09But why it really relates to this episode is the fact that it shows the
- 8:13very basis of ED Men, and a lot of the things in that pilot
- 8:18we never see in the series, like the costumes that they're wearing, the
- 8:22costumes that they're wearing. Cyclops is wearing one of his original the first suit
- 8:24he wore after he wore his original skin with the skin with the what did
- 8:30I call it? I call it the speed skater outfit, Yes, the
- 8:33speed skater outfit. Wolverine is wearing the brown and yellow outfit, which we
- 8:39didn't see in the original storm yep. Actually, when I was repeaping the
- 8:43original X mend that Nigga Wolvering wore all kinds of suits in that ship,
- 8:46Like he wore a black and gray suit that I don't even know if they
- 8:50introduced that in the comics to later. I'm not sure about that one.
- 8:52But it's all these original suits, it's the storm suit that we see now
- 8:56and all these other things in that pilot. So I think that's really why
- 8:58both was showing it to everyone, and also just he wanted to give props
- 9:03to the original X Men director who's X Men director On Twitter they're the original
- 9:07showrunners, and he wanted to give props to them and showed it where it
- 9:09all came from. Yeah, and like you say, this episode episode nine
- 9:16is all about being back to basics. Yea, and we and like Storm
- 9:20says, we do these things over and over again. Yeah, so that's
- 9:24what this was showing. Just like it's nothing new, just just one more
- 9:26point about for those to encourage people to actually go watch that pilot again.
- 9:31You can find on YouTube just type in X Men pilot if probably the first
- 9:33one or second when that pops up. When I say this, shit,
- 9:37that Magneto be on that ship, the way he was kicking that little track,
- 9:41he's just rude as fuck in there. I was fucking crying. I
- 9:46was fucking crying. And the way he told told to go play in the
- 9:48air lock, I was just like, that's that nigga, right, It
- 9:52was amazing. So yeah, so just watch that. I think it's like
- 9:54twenty four minutes, but well when yeah, maybe less when you cut out.
- 9:58The one I watched was from a VHS apparently, and it had like
- 10:01this long fucking intro about from Spider Man and some commercials and shit talking about
- 10:07go voting some shit. I was like, all right, so propaganda onto
- 10:13this episode. First off, we do have a guest here who's sitting here,
- 10:16you know, waiting his turn. Yeah. Yes, they have some
- 10:20long thoughts and things. I'm enjoying the banter. I'm enjoying the banter.
- 10:24Yes, well, okay, you know, first off, generally, how
- 10:26have you been feeling about X Men ninety seven and what did you feel about
- 10:30this episode. I'm loving it. I mean, you know, I'm one
- 10:33of the people who kind of fell off from the original animated series because the
- 10:39first couple of seasons I think I thought were kind of groundbreaking and introduced the
- 10:43X Men to a lot of people. But then as it progressed, I
- 10:45kind of feel like the animation started getting a little bit goopier, and some
- 10:50of the voice acting was getting a little silly, and they were kind of
- 10:52all over the place with the storylines. And I remember it was like at
- 10:56the evolution of like DC Warner Brothers just doing every thing right, like Batman,
- 11:01the animated series Batman Beyond Justice League. So at that time I didn't
- 11:05even really watch the last two seasons of the original animated just because when they
- 11:09introduced morph I was like, I'm done, you know what I mean.
- 11:11As soon as they started introducing characters that weren't from the comments and stuff like
- 11:15that, I'm like, I'm okay. So I was not excited when they
- 11:18announced this show coming back. Yeah, I was. Yeah, I was
- 11:24just like, you know, I was like, you know, it's it's
- 11:26I don't I didn't have a lot of faith in Marvel Animation compared to Warner
- 11:31Brothers DC animation. So even though I liked What If, I didn't really
- 11:35you know, I didn't know what to expect. And I think all of
- 11:37us were really surprised by how good the shows. I mean, Bodemo and
- 11:43all the people who are working on the show, what they've done with the
- 11:46X Men narrative. They gave us what we wanted and more. And there
- 11:50there aspects about it, about the animation, about the callbacks, about the
- 11:54Easter eggs. It's so well researched, and it's it's so accessible to new
- 12:00X Men fans and the old ones. If you're a comic book fan,
- 12:03if you're an animation fan, if you're a movie fan, you're getting everything
- 12:05you want from one show. And I don't think we've ever seen something from
- 12:09Marvel in a while, that just hit all checked all the checkboxes for everyone
- 12:13this well. So I am extremely excited about the show. I'm loving every
- 12:18episode. It's bringing me back to why I love X Men. It's bringing
- 12:22me back to, you know, while of comic books in general. And
- 12:26I'm not even talking about the subtext. I'm just talking about the show as
- 12:28an animated series. But when you start bringing in the subtext, and I
- 12:33mean to shout out both a mile for bringing a lot of those the subtexts
- 12:37into you know, comparing the destruction of Genosha to you know, the the
- 12:41tragedy in Orlando, and and and you know things that happened, you know,
- 12:46to to to people of color all across the world. It's just an
- 12:50amazing connection. And yeah, I'm I'm I'm thrilled about the show and I'm
- 12:54having the ball. Yeah, I mean, well said, And I do
- 13:00like that because I don't think we've heard from anyone who wasn't Like. I
- 13:03was definitely hype about it because I went back and rewatched a lot of it,
- 13:07But even at the same time, when I rewatched a lot of it,
- 13:09I fell off because I was like, uh, and then I had
- 13:11to go back and watch certain episodes that Bo was talking about them like in
- 13:15the last season, and there is some gold throughout the show. I mean,
- 13:20fucking like I was talking about this last week, the episode the sent
- 13:24where they do mister Sinasor's origin. It's the ninth episode of the last season.
- 13:30It's on Disney Plus for everyone to go watch. It's absolutely incredible and
- 13:35so groundbreaking and so daring because it barely features any of the X Men and
- 13:39then it's just the whole origin of mister Sinators. So I really am glad
- 13:43that Bo is highlighting that that people are going and because it's on Disney Plus,
- 13:48it's available for everyone to get back and watch. And you know,
- 13:52it's got some It does have some goofy stuff in there, like you said,
- 13:54AJ, but it man, it hits on a lot of levels.
- 13:58When it does, it hits just as hard as does And well, I
- 14:01mean this has the benefit of being able to show Wolverine, you know,
- 14:05poking his claws through Magnito's chests like and not do anything near like that.
- 14:13And like even in the pilot off People and Pyro never actually uses his flamethrowers,
- 14:18Like there's flames and then he controls them, but he never actually uses
- 14:22the flamethrowers because I'm sure they were like, hell no, nigga, can't
- 14:26have something, nigga, you know, shooting off flames like kids will be
- 14:30over there trying to set themselves a fire. So, yeah, they didn't
- 14:33do much with Pyro at all. Look, it's the same, it's actually
- 14:35know, it's truth. The same reason why Human Torch. There's an old
- 14:39nineteen seventies I think Fantastic four show and Human Torch isn't in it because they
- 14:45were afraid of what that for without the human root. Yeah, the robot.
- 14:52Yeah, yep, that's why Person on Fire Perpetulu on Fire. And
- 14:56shout out to John Burne, one of the best artists and writers. He
- 15:01did a legendary run on X Men. He's part of the Dark Phoenix saga
- 15:05with Chris Claremont, and he also did an issue of Fantastic Four called Hero
- 15:09where a little kid sets himself on fire because of the Human Torch, and
- 15:13it's one of the best issues you'll ever read it. God damn, yeah,
- 15:16just me talking about right now, I'm like shaking because it's it was
- 15:20that good. That's deep. It's a fire because he wants to be like
- 15:24be a human torch. It's a fucking issue, boy, It's a fucking
- 15:28issue, I promise you. Who Comics. Yeah, back to edX mend
- 15:37ninety seven. This episode, like we said last week, it's just like
- 15:41when of these niggas don't miss because they just don't. They don't fucking miss.
- 15:45They don't fucking miss. They're doing they I mean, we can stip
- 15:50to the end like the all episode. I'm like, they gonna tear this
- 15:54niggas metal out of this nigga's bones, Like you know, this is what
- 15:58happens at this when they go to asteroid him Wolverine gets fucked up, and
- 16:03I'm like, ain't no goddamn way. It was just like when I watched
- 16:07Infinity War and I'm sitting in the theater like, ain't no way this nigga
- 16:10gonna snap his fingers at the end of this movie, and then you was
- 16:15looking stuck with the rest of us, bigga. I walked out, Remember
- 16:18I saw that ship two weeks before everyone. I walked no, no,
- 16:22I was in La when I saw I was in LA and I walked out
- 16:26of the theater by myself, like bright ass day and I walked out of
- 16:30the theater by myself. It wasn't even many people on my screening, so
- 16:33it was me and my homie. We walked out, like what is life?
- 16:38But it's same thing right here, dog, Like I'm sitting there and
- 16:42in the freeze frame, like they gonna freeze frame on you man, Like
- 16:45ah, it was like the like there was so many great anime references in
- 16:49this episode, but that was like one of the most terrible ones like that.
- 16:53It's always that freez fame of a nigga getting fucked up, you know,
- 16:56like you know, like I mean, I did pause it. I
- 17:00did. I didn't you to look at the details because it was so like
- 17:07it was so fucked up but beautifully drawn at the same time from the comet
- 17:10that that image is from X Men it is, I mean, d it's
- 17:15xact imagery. Wow, it's his metal turning to liquid and pouring out of
- 17:21his skins. It's exact same shit absorbed out of his body. Yeah,
- 17:26that ship that shit. I mean, like I said, I was,
- 17:27I said to this to you earlier. I wasn't shocked when it happened,
- 17:30but I was just like, Okay, that happened like like I knew some
- 17:37fuck up shit was gonna happen, but I ain't gonna be that right,
- 17:38And I was just like, okay, so what we about to do?
- 17:42But like I said, since we're kind of working our way backwards, does
- 17:45this now mean we about to see like because my thing he's still a mutant
- 17:48at the end of the day, we're gonna see bone bone claws. Oh
- 17:52yeah, Wooverine. But before we get to that, agent, what did
- 17:56how did you feel about you know that? Were you aware of this storyline?
- 18:00Did you know? No? I knew, I knew not that specific
- 18:03storyline, but I've seen it. I forgot where specifically, but I've seen
- 18:07it, and it could have been could have been the original cartoon somewhere or
- 18:10some not the original cards, but there was another version of the cartoons that
- 18:14was like earlier, mid two thousands. I forgot what that was, where
- 18:17like it was like everybody was young, like Rogue was like high school my
- 18:22evolution, that's right. I don't know if it was there or elsewhere where.
- 18:26I remember watching something about that stuff getting taken out of him. It
- 18:29could have been I could have been combining it, but I just remember I
- 18:33just or maybe I'm even thinking about the old Logan films, just like there
- 18:37was when they were showing how originally he just had bone. So I just
- 18:41I just remember those visions and then when I say this, I said,
- 18:45oh, okay, we're doing it. That shit is crazy. I'm ready
- 18:52for that. Yeah, definitely. I'm finding it very fascinating how the different
- 19:00X Men storylines and blending them together, right, Like even the destruction of
- 19:03Genosha, right, if I'm not mistaken, Janosha was destroyed twice, right,
- 19:07Like there was the Grant Morrison Cassandra Nova destroyed Genosha, but then there
- 19:14was another time where I think it was I think it was Bashian or whatnot,
- 19:19it was destroyed. I'm not sure. But it's interesting because in the
- 19:23aftermath of Janosha being destroyed, you saw Emma Frost having her secondary mutation to
- 19:29becoming Diamond, and I remember that specifically happened in that new X Men run
- 19:33where Emma Frost was part of, and they're not doing that storyline specifically,
- 19:37So it's interesting how they're plucking certain elements from other X Men storylines and blending
- 19:41them into into these ones. So if you're like an X Men Historian,
- 19:45You're getting like a lot of unique storylines blending, so I never know what's
- 19:48gonna happen next, Like, oh wow, they are doing this, Like
- 19:52who knows it could be like Age of Apocalypse could be next, or House
- 19:55of Them, Like there's so many different things they can do, and they
- 19:59must be having so much fun like trying to construct these storylines and trying to
- 20:02figure out where to take the narrative next. And you make a good point.
- 20:06You make a really good point, because it's also for me, is
- 20:08opening the doors people who regardless of what version of the X Men they've seen,
- 20:14whatever, regardless of whether what genre or medium they've seen it in,
- 20:18they have an end to understanding the story and enjoying their story. And like
- 20:22you exactly, like you said, there's so many pieces being plucked from everywhere
- 20:26that it's an amalgamation of like everything that everyone loves, which is Bobby also
- 20:32the reason why this is hitting so hard, and this is why, like
- 20:34we keep saying, it's not missing, because it's like we all get it,
- 20:38we all understand, and yes, it's it's smartly written, it's it's
- 20:41beautifully animated, it's all that all of those things together. So great point
- 20:47that you made there. H yeah, I wanted to hate on your boy,
- 20:52robertal the coastaff. Let's go it because that'll lead into my next point.
- 20:56Well, why Sunspot act like such a punk? He's act like a
- 21:00Trump? Wow? Wait wait wait wow, okay, explain yourself, young
- 21:03man. By yourself, young man, I am you know, I mean,
- 21:07for one and for one the whole him not using his powers because he
- 21:11didn't want to, you know, get in trouble with his parents everything that
- 21:17that that was that was lame to me. Why was that? Because I
- 21:22understand where he's coming from, Like he didn't want to offend his family and
- 21:26he didn't want to compromise himself. But at some point you got to stand
- 21:30up and be who you are. Bro. You're a mutant, you're muting,
- 21:33Bro. Doesn't that come with learning though? Because you got to remember
- 21:37him and Jubilee or what like fifteen sixteen years old or whatever. Hell they're
- 21:40trying to be. They're young. And when you're that young, you don't
- 21:44know your power. And some some some mirac by some miraculous nature some young
- 21:48children in the real world, we they do realize who they are very very
- 21:52early. On, which is like one in a million type things. You
- 21:56don't really know who you are, and really you don't know who you are
- 21:57to your like twenty five plus. Right, that's when the brains stop.
- 22:00You know, that section is finished developing. So I don't blame him much
- 22:07like and they also likened it like when they said, oh, you know,
- 22:08he was forcefully out it. They likened it to like when you're queer
- 22:12and you are forcefully out it, like you're not ready, And it doesn't
- 22:15mean you're being a bitch about it. It just means like you are not
- 22:19I'm sorry to make it funny, but like you're not ready, You're not
- 22:22strong within your I don't even want to say strong within yourself. You don't
- 22:27want to be one terrorized potentially, you may not want to be you know,
- 22:34removed from the place that you known to be your own, because that
- 22:38often happens. Right as we see with mutants, for nine times out of
- 22:42ten, somebody found out you new mutant. They're not fucking with you no
- 22:45more. Right, he doesn't know as far and we see what happens,
- 22:48but he doesn't know if from everything around him it's telling him. If I
- 22:52revealed it to my parents or my mother. She is not gonna be fucking
- 22:55with me, you know. So he has the worst thought in his head.
- 22:57I hear what you're saying about he should be brave. But that's easy
- 23:02to stay from the outside looking at. I understand, and I agree with
- 23:04you. And I wasn't so hard on him until this past episode, okay,
- 23:07because yeah, I want to then because then he code switched, right,
- 23:11he was like, all right, I went I'm going with Magneto,
- 23:15I'm rolling with with with Magnus. And then Jubilee, she says, but
- 23:18what about me, Like, I've been holding you down and walk, I've
- 23:22been side by side on your whole journey. I've been I've been holding a
- 23:26hand through this very troubling time because I went through a similar situation. You
- 23:29notice how they put Sunspot as a stand in in the opening credits for Jubilee,
- 23:33where she grabs the fence and all the people are behind him now now
- 23:37sun spots, So the Sunspot is basically our Jubilee for this X Men and
- 23:41iteration of the X Men ninety seven, and Jubilee sees, you know,
- 23:45sees herself and him, and she's been helping him through the entire They've been
- 23:48side to side the entire season. He says, nah, I'm good,
- 23:51I'm going with Magneto. And then they get into a fight, and and
- 23:56and and he's like he's like, juvee, juves, I don't want to
- 23:57hurt you. He's like, Naho, you you chose five, You think
- 24:03side. Now it's it's it's time. It's time to put your money where
- 24:07your mouth is. Like what you thought he was playing? You thought you
- 24:10thought this was a game. Like yo, you we're Mojo. When I'm
- 24:15playing the Mojo video game. This is life and death, you know,
- 24:19you know, like like you you you walked out on family. You walked
- 24:23out on family, and and now and now now now time now time to
- 24:27go, go go. And also the nigga, to be honest, he's
- 24:30only been using his powers for two seconds, so yes for him for for
- 24:34that fight to have it. He's like, oh, ship, I really,
- 24:37I really, you know, did some ship. I think he really
- 24:40was shot? Like, ah, my fault. But to your point,
- 24:42it's like you you you traitors who like we was walk We was running the
- 24:48streets together all this time, we was defying the parents and and the elders
- 24:55of our group together, we was running and now it's just like, ah,
- 25:00you know, I'm just gonna push you to the side because I'm ready
- 25:02to go to the next party. I get that all right now. In
- 25:04Sunspots Defence, there's a couple of things. One day, don't wait illustrate
- 25:08enough that his father is like a corrupt type dude until he's really trying not
- 25:12to follow in his father's footsteps. Two, the nigga went home and did
- 25:18what Jubilee said. Remember this, you know what I mean, Jews went
- 25:22with him. I got you your mama. No, no, nigga,
- 25:27that's not what happened. And then we got chased down by a mob.
- 25:32Right So like life with y'all's not been the best. I come back,
- 25:36the mansion's destroyed. This nigga show up talking all kind of shit, rolling
- 25:41around in the wheelchair. I ain't got time for this nigga. This nigga
- 25:44is already tried. This nigga been off in space with space bird brain ass
- 25:48bitches, no shots. So you know, you know, chicken ahead,
- 25:55I mean for real, like a straight up and down chickenhead, like no
- 25:59denying it. And so my wife be called the Lilandra la Quisha by the
- 26:04way, she she like they out there with quistia. Yes, I mean
- 26:10a state up bird brain. You're right, then you're right. So him
- 26:15choosing Magneto in that moment, like we said, he's young, this nigga
- 26:19pulled up with an asteroid. Nigga like the nigga pulled up with an asteroid
- 26:25like come on, did y'all see the Aurora borealis, which happens when you
- 26:30mess with magnet and magnet which I'm like, oh man, they're putting science
- 26:34in this like this. Yeah, I've never seen that nigga had to blow
- 26:38like the last dragon nigga like this nigga is going to go with this man.
- 26:42That's why I said. It was like Roberto, He's going to the
- 26:45next party. He was like, Oh, that's the shiny thing and it's
- 26:48not up I heard popping over there, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 26:52he's not talking this bullshit of peace and less fixing nah than they fucked
- 26:57us up. These the same niggas that you trying to saving help is the
- 27:00same niggas that ran me down out my mother's house, that pulled me out,
- 27:04that put the coll on me. So I get I get both sides
- 27:07of that equation for sure, and then like, on that note, what
- 27:11I wanted, what I said. My next point was, I feel like
- 27:14I know Bo was talking about that the theme of this episode is back to
- 27:18basics, et cetera. You know, things happen again and again. But
- 27:21I felt like the theme of this episode was really professor as getting read for
- 27:23Philth over and over again, because your man sun Spot managed to get a
- 27:27nice little jabbing at him. The President read him for phil What was it?
- 27:33Yeah, President, the legacy. He had a great line something about
- 27:37the let me pull this ship up because it was a terrible your legacy to
- 27:44a lunatic. You left your legacy to a Lunatico bars, I love alliteration.
- 27:51Jean great, Yes, jean An Scott read him for Philth. She's
- 27:55like the gross ending of twelve hours. Niggas like wrap this up beat speaking
- 28:00of is Gene okay? Or is she no? She's still upset about everything?
- 28:06No, No, I'm talking about like it looked like she's something happened
- 28:08to her when she's fighting her son Cable or her not son. But oh
- 28:11you mean at the very end, well, well, well yeah, we
- 28:15gotta get it. All, it's all good, it's all going bad's let's
- 28:18stay on this, let's stay here for a second. Because Cyclops reading for
- 28:22Philth Jeene Readson for Philth Roberto got the jabbin Magneto tells his nigga to shut
- 28:29the fuck up. Cyclops is like, you know what, what's what's up?
- 28:33Like you really left everything to Magneto? Like, and you know what?
- 28:40Right? And as the resident Scott hater, I gotta say I really
- 28:42fucked with Scott this episode. Fucked with him this episode he was just and
- 28:48and and and I think for me it was a finally moment that he was
- 28:52just like, shut all that bullshit up, like ball headed scallywag, Like
- 28:56that's not what the fuck is up you for dad, my nigga, Like
- 29:02Professor X said, he was going out against the milk and never came the
- 29:07fuck back. He left his children behind. And then when Scott was like
- 29:11I after all that, like you know, I'm the one who you've been
- 29:15training up to be the leader to take care of these niggas, you get
- 29:18the keys to fucking magnus, what the fuck is that? Like? I
- 29:22felt him. And that's why when when X, when X men when Professor
- 29:26xpo his hand out like I was just trying to help my guy, and
- 29:30and Scott was like, just walk past that nigga, like fuck this shit
- 29:33and walk through the fucking hole in the wall in the goddamn mansion. That's
- 29:36why I was like, fuck you, Xavier, Like I felt Scott like,
- 29:40we don't got time for this, and you kept and I understand why
- 29:44he felt like Professor Extra just kept making stupid fucking mistakes, like every every
- 29:48step of the way has led them there, every step that every choice that
- 29:52has been made by Xavier has now led them here technically. So I really
- 29:57loved this shot of Magneto when Professor is on the pier and he's like,
- 30:02y'all walk down that man's path and Professor is in his wheelchair at the end
- 30:06of the path like that nigga ain't even walking no more, And y'all walked
- 30:12his path. See where he got his ass had a short pier about to
- 30:19take a long walk. You okay, j A, you mentioned now you
- 30:25mentioned something half energy. A lot of niggas. I don't know. She
- 30:32was prized telepathently. What the fuck happened? I mean, Cable was definitely
- 30:38with full saying saying on that ass like that ship was that he wants super
- 30:45he wants Super Saiyan Blue on her little bit, So I was concerned.
- 30:48I mean, Storm took a drink Forge just playing went down like it was
- 30:52fast and furious. It's you know, it's looking rough and Fortune a cable.
- 31:00Rather, he had the diamond, you know, the little sinister diamond
- 31:03in his head, so you know he was under the control or whatever.
- 31:07But you answered the question, AJ, what the fuck happened to Jine?
- 31:10Yeah? Yeah, I mean whatever happened to her, it was clearly bad
- 31:15enough for Cyclops to sabotage Professor X because they could have won right there.
- 31:19You know, Cyclops literally stopped Professor X from beating Magneto in that moment,
- 31:25so it must have been whatever psychic like residents he got from. From whatever
- 31:32happened to her, it was strong enough for Enid to be like, Yo,
- 31:33something bad just happened to Jane, and we need to give them.
- 31:37She tapped in. She tapped in with him, and she was just like
- 31:40once she saw I felt like when she felt like, YO, ain't gonna
- 31:42survive this. She tapped in with Scott and was just like, I love
- 31:45you, my nigga. This is the end. Absolutely, that's the It's
- 31:51the moment from when she kills herself as the phoenix. She tells him I
- 31:56love you, right, and then so he's having flashbacks to that shit and
- 32:00so he's like, not again, and that's why he blasts Professor X,
- 32:04which is funny because who made that comment earlier about we can't we can't be
- 32:07dying for you again. It might have been rogue when she was like some
- 32:09of us died multiple times and the camera went to Gene, I was fucking
- 32:13rolling, like this is your fault, my nigga, Exavier, it was
- 32:22this man. There were so many moments in this episode as always, like
- 32:27just that whole I mean, that whole fight was so well done, and
- 32:30like I rewatched episode and the last few minutes, like when they're cutting in
- 32:35between, like you talked about Cable and Jean, Storm and Forge and you
- 32:39have all these moments of elation, like Storm and Forge just hammering the sentinels
- 32:44and putting in work and then wat they get blasted, you know, Jean
- 32:47streaming the sideclops fucking Professor X. Really as soon as he has a chance,
- 32:53that's nothing like someone in our YouTube comments asked us, just, yo,
- 32:58why the hate for Professor X? And I was like, Yo,
- 32:59if you're read the comics, you know it's like this nigga's trife. You
- 33:02know, like as soon as this nigga's helmet is off, this niggas like
- 33:06goes to work, go to work. Which I don't blame him, that
- 33:09was his goal. But he didn't hesitate. Yeah, and that's you know,
- 33:14there's the thing. He didn't fucking hesitate. But so but when someone's
- 33:19also in his face, in his eyes, going on a rampage, you
- 33:22can't well did he asked Magnito to hesitate? And that's why Manito looked at
- 33:25that nigga and looked away. Can I also say how uh like? I
- 33:36love how they're using Morph? Yes, as a former morph hater, I
- 33:40said, I did not. I did not like more from the original animated
- 33:44series because I'm like, who is this why I'm making a whole new character?
- 33:46You know how any X men there are why you got to make a
- 33:47whole new X men. I really like A. I love how zesty he
- 33:52is. I love I love how he just did the jokes and how you
- 33:55just like, oh my gosh with the last episode when he's making fun of
- 33:59world rings like another future where Logan's the only one who's left alive, like
- 34:02hilarious, hilarious jokes. And then but the way he uses his powers,
- 34:07how he's turning into all the characters that we were we also wish we're still
- 34:10in the show, like, yeah, where's where's that character? Where's that
- 34:12character? He's like, okay, just have morph change into for a quick
- 34:15second. You know, my son's a huge he's two years old. He's
- 34:17a huge Hawk fan. So worph turning the haulk this last episod. He's
- 34:21like he pricked up and said, oh my gosh. He's like wait a
- 34:23minute, wait a minute. So yeah, no, I love how they're
- 34:25using more. He's like, now he's like one of my favorite characters.
- 34:30Yeah, So that's It's just I'm sorry. I was gonna say, just
- 34:34a credit to how good this written, how well written this show is in
- 34:36terms of taking characters and elements that didn't work to me in previous iterations and
- 34:40making them work really well. But go ahead. He's such a clutch character.
- 34:45Like I said, I always just think of games, right, and
- 34:47just like for those who play check in. He's mokujin. He can he
- 34:52can shadow do anybody's fucking move set and and just as and sometimes better because
- 34:59when you you have someone else who you don't have to live that life every
- 35:01day, like you start thinking more creatively about how to use those powers.
- 35:06So like he was doing. Not to say that Hulk never did that shit,
- 35:08but he was on some shit I never seen Hope new. And I'm
- 35:10just saying that was also another one of the mutant circuits because Jean is throwing
- 35:15him around as whole, and so that's something that Hulk will never get to
- 35:19do because he's never gonna have Gene around. Yeah. So so I just
- 35:23I just to that point you made, I just thought that that was fire
- 35:27to see all that shit. I mean that whole battle. You know,
- 35:30Beast's cutting off the hand cable with his big ass gun and then like I
- 35:35say, when he went all hammer with the psychic powers and you just see
- 35:37the flare of energy. I love all like the nineties type style of comedy
- 35:44too, Like like you mentioned Beast, when Beasts was like, what a
- 35:46sound does it make when one hand clapsed by itself and he's a slap Like
- 35:52that shit was funny, Like I was waiting for him to say, what
- 35:54did the five fingers heed the you know what I'm saying. It was on
- 35:58that same line, like it's it's classic fantastic Jene hitting Sinister with the Bolden
- 36:06balls and and then the the strike's not of fact, like they know when
- 36:13to pour on like the camp. Yeah, and that's important because especially when
- 36:17you when you're when you're doing an homage and it's supposed to be in this
- 36:22nineties thing like even like I said, the pilot we saw, Yes,
- 36:25that was in the eighties, but but even things from that time, like
- 36:29you see, there's just certain things where nowadays you might think it's corny or
- 36:31this or that, but it has a feeling to it. It has a
- 36:35flavor of that time period. And they were able to bring that flavor into
- 36:39ninety seven x ME in ninety seven without being corny. But it's like being
- 36:44like I don't know how to explain like tastefully smart and hilarious about it.
- 36:49It's like what we were talking about on an episode of Rodomus. It's the
- 36:52thing that you can get away with an animation that you just cannot get away
- 36:55with. It's like when I rewatched Transformers the movie, the original animated one.
- 37:00I rewatched it to hop on the look Back podcast check that out,
- 37:05And at one point, Devastator, one of the Decepticons, pounds one of
- 37:08the dinal Bots and the dinal box eyes fly off his head, you know,
- 37:15and it's like, if you did that in real life, people be
- 37:16like, come on, fam, But it's this quit second in animation,
- 37:21unless you're really paying attention, you're not even gonna peep it. And so
- 37:23you can do things like that, and so that's just the greatness of animation,
- 37:27and this show, like Revels, it lives in that greatness, you
- 37:30know. It's like anything we can do. We talked about last week how
- 37:35the prime Sentinels are in the intro, how this week we see Storm show
- 37:37up, and then I keep calling it and there's a lot of things we've
- 37:42definitely been calling as always on this show. But I really feel like,
- 37:45and I don't think they have enough teams. But I was really hoping for
- 37:51next week that the Magneto and the Professor X are two different teams of mutants
- 37:57running at each other. But right now it's just Magneto's on Spot and Rogue.
- 38:01So I don't think they're going to do that, but I think that
- 38:04would be really ill because that's the one thing they haven't flipped yet. Yeah,
- 38:07what's a brotherhood, you know, the brotherhood of evil mutants or but
- 38:12they're not like a really around so far in this iteration, what was the
- 38:15name of Magneto. Magneto had like his own alcales. Yeah, he has
- 38:22a bunch of cats right right. They were in the original series too,
- 38:28though, I Ben, I know you and Doctor Dre were hoping, but
- 38:31it has been confirmed that your boy leash is gone, Sam, I mean
- 38:36confirmed. Ain't the word firm Magneto himself, word damn Ben, nigga niggas
- 38:45I lost that nigga said his burned out of his skull paper rise rise.
- 38:52As soon as he said that, I literally said, aloud, damn Ben,
- 38:54I'm sorry, brouh, I mean bo had said the nigga did but
- 39:05know Jesus Christ. And on that note, there's still a big like secret
- 39:12or flip that has not been a card flip that has not been revealed yet,
- 39:15And that's what the fuck did Bashan do the Magneto remember that, like
- 39:21he did something to this nigga before he got free, so that card has
- 39:27not been overturned yet. And you know him talking about Leach being dead.
- 39:30That's what really reminded me because I was like, hold on, Nigga,
- 39:32like leeches did, but how did you survive? And then I was like,
- 39:36oh, yeah, that's right, Bashan had your ass. So you
- 39:38know, like all these actions just like with Sinister and Cable right, And
- 39:44I think that one was because I had to really rewatch that to even figure
- 39:46out what was going on with Cape. I said, what the fuck is
- 39:49this nigga tagging? And then I see the diamond and that's something that's corume
- 39:52up a lot in the recent estement comics, the whole sinisterization of a character.
- 39:55So there a lot of characters that have had a diamond. So I
- 39:58keep the diamond. I'm like, okay, he had the niggas a baby,
- 40:00he put that ship into him as a baby. Boom, done and
- 40:04done get it? So you didn't do this and so that brings it back
- 40:10to bashing again and I was like, hold on, and so what did
- 40:14he do to Magneto And when is that car gonna be revealed? And then
- 40:17I mean, yeah, and this is Magneto doing the damage to wol Ring
- 40:22is not bashing, you know, to be clear that putting in that work.
- 40:29This is Magneto and and again wrong or right, I fuck with Magneto,
- 40:32Magneto. I'm gonna say that Nigga was right, and according to that
- 40:37beautiful shirt you're wearing, Magnito is right. Yea currently four our nerds dot
- 40:42com. Y'all can get yours available now. I mind, it's available right
- 40:49now. Magneto is right. Let me get it. I'll get it in
- 40:54the spring. For the end of the show, you mentioning Cable, this
- 40:59is more in the comic side, comedy side. When he wasn't when his
- 41:02father through that little blue yellow X Men cast him to him and he was
- 41:06just like, what the fuck is this? And we got a little reference.
- 41:08I thought it was a reference to the X Men Fox films where he
- 41:12was just like, what did you expl He said, what did you expect
- 41:14this to be black leather? I was just like, damn right. But
- 41:16you know what's interesting about that, Tatiana when X Men. I remember when
- 41:21the X Men movie first came out and that line was delivered in the film.
- 41:24It made so much sense back then because they were trying to make the
- 41:28X Men cool to like a general you know, audience, and we weren't
- 41:31in this era of super nerdy comic book stuff, right, so they had
- 41:36to put them all in black leather to make them acceptable, to make them
- 41:38like cool and edgy. Right. But now that we're so far and the
- 41:43needle hasn't moved so far into the nerdiness, now we can go back the
- 41:45other way and be like him, why'd you have him in black leather?
- 41:47There's supposed the word yellow and blue tights. Like. It's such an interesting
- 41:51how the culture is shifted and how those that that line really actually means a
- 41:54lot when you really think about it, because that I was twenty years ago
- 41:57now, right, the X Men one came out, right, So it's
- 42:00so unique how we've changed as as uh, you know tans, right yep.
- 42:05And it's really funny too because I saw like nerds, like you know,
- 42:07not just nerds people are online. They were just like, uh huh,
- 42:10cracking on those old films some ships. So I thought that was black
- 42:14And it's so interesting because to me, those films are I mean, they're
- 42:15you know, they're up and down, they're going down. But I don't
- 42:19what you said what people saying, I don't think they're cracking on. No,
- 42:22they know I definitely. I'm not gonna name names, but I saw
- 42:24the tweets. People. I know you saw the tweets, but I don't
- 42:28think that was Bowe and friends intention. No, and they're not said,
- 42:31yeah, it's what AJ said. And even right after the films came out,
- 42:36Great Morrison when he did New x Men, he put everyone in black
- 42:39leather because he said the X Men are a paramilitary operation. Grants also got,
- 42:45you know, their fetishes, so they did the black leather. You
- 42:46know, I feel them, I feel them, and it wasn't a bad
- 42:51thing. I loved the news Men run. Some people hated those suits.
- 42:53I thought they were whatever. You know, I like the black and yellow
- 42:57in the in the copy, and they were whatever. And it was a
- 43:01different time. It's exactly what you said, Aj. It was a completely
- 43:04different time where if they if and first of all you could talk about you
- 43:07know, costume technology and all the other stuff, how would that have actually
- 43:12looked to recreate the blue and yellow right back in O one versus black leather.
- 43:17Even now, I like everyone's so hype about the new Woverine souit and
- 43:22I hate it. I'm talking about no talk about yellow and I'm talking.
- 43:28I'm talking about that blue Wooverine live action, the blue and yellow on huge
- 43:30asman looks silly to me. Sorry, I mean it actually looks okay to
- 43:36me, but I mean I'm gone, I'm hyped for it because it's the
- 43:45blue and yellow, but like it's whatever and hold up top down And you
- 43:47just dissed the brown and yellow. I said, I don't like it,
- 43:51and I will repeat it. I do not like the brown costume. I
- 43:54never did. Man, that was like, let me make sure I say
- 43:58it loud and clear, I articulate mine. Well. I would to say
- 44:00how wrong you are, because that was my introduction to the Wolverine character.
- 44:05And like, to me, that's what you know when I first saw him,
- 44:07that's the suit he war my. I posted it the other day.
- 44:10My favorite X mend issue is him running forward or in that suit with rogue
- 44:15behind him. Man, that's like, good for you, conic y for
- 44:19you. I mean, just like you're wrong about Scot Summers and you know
- 44:22you came around on that I'm not wrong about But I never said I never
- 44:25said anything. I didn't give an indictment on the suit. I said,
- 44:29I didn't like it. That's just like you didn't like Stott Summers. That
- 44:31doesn't mean I'm wrong. I can't be wrong in my opinion. No,
- 44:35I know, but you didn't like Scott Summers you came around, don't to
- 44:37a degree, to a degree more, you're gonna suck up that suit too?
- 44:40Five whatever speak. Speaking of Grant Morrison and the New X Men run,
- 44:45this is something that I thought when Janosha got destroyed, I thought it
- 44:51was Cassandra. No, but who was going to be behind it? Because
- 44:53that was who did it in that iteration of the comics, especially going into
- 44:57the whole Emma Frost thing and everything, And I realize, once again I
- 45:00think they're just blending storylines or whatnot. But what do you guys think are
- 45:04that? What do you guys think are the chances that in a post credit
- 45:07scene or something like that, we get a glimpse of a cassandran over.
- 45:10I don't think I must say no only because of Deadpool movie, right,
- 45:16and because I think that's why we might see here actually to you know,
- 45:21well, the other reason why I'm like, I don't know is because especially
- 45:25with the state that MCU has been in and and even again the crossover thereof
- 45:30from like Fox and all the other stuff. I a lot of the in
- 45:35a granted, this is all done it, this is done, this stuff
- 45:37is done already is in the can. I don't know. I just I
- 45:39feel like they're approach now. They're like, yo, we're not trying to
- 45:43like we're kind of they're trying to pull back from like just throwing characters in
- 45:46there as much just doing whatever, and like trying that's what they're saying.
- 45:51They're trying to do, be smarter about it. They're trying to stick with
- 45:55well known character, trying to stick with unfortunately, trying to stick with things
- 46:00that are tried and true. Like they recognized that they were doing too much.
- 46:07That was actually said and a few interviews with Bob Biger and some other
- 46:10people they were doing too much. They were trying to do too many storylines,
- 46:14too many characters, this and that. So I think they might actually
- 46:15be pulling back. But my answer to your question was really just because I
- 46:21think they're already doing it with that. Yeah, So I don't I just
- 46:24don't think. I mean, I feel like Bow and Team are much more
- 46:30inventive, and that again, I don't know. The left hand doesn't talk
- 46:32the right hand at Marvels as far as I know, So I don't know
- 46:35if they all knew. And again that that's kind of a whole separate section.
- 46:37I don't know if they even knew that that was happening and that writing,
- 46:40so who knows. No, they do talk enough where like they're like,
- 46:45you're not gonna like if somebody's using a character, They're gonna tell you,
- 46:46no, this character is at least being used here. Okay, we
- 46:50don't. Yeah, they'll tell you that because they people talked about that,
- 46:52Like I know in one division they talked about we couldn't use this character or
- 46:55that character because they knew they were going to be used here or they And
- 47:00I've heard people ask for like the most random characters of Marvel being like,
- 47:02nah, we have plans for them, you know, in something else.
- 47:06So that might have been a bit more So I think it's aj Like,
- 47:09I think it's more what you were saying already. It's the fact that they
- 47:13are just lending storylines here, and because of that, we're at this point
- 47:15where with I as much as I predicted from this season. I still have
- 47:21no idea where they will go next season, because, like you said,
- 47:23aj onslaught is the typical reaction to what happens here. And I know a
- 47:28lot of people who are hype for that story, who grew up on it,
- 47:30while me, I'm one of the people like man, I could care
- 47:31less and you could also do something. Maybe you could do a house of
- 47:36them, you could do all kinds of things. For me. You could
- 47:37maybe go into, you know, my great hope for Kakoha. You know,
- 47:42but there's it's pretty open ended, and I don't one thing boeing them
- 47:46have shown them to be. What's that? I say, what okay?
- 47:52And I think it's background noise. One thing that bowing them have shown them
- 47:58to be is great writers. Everyone involved in this has been shown to be
- 48:01really great writers. And because of that, one thing of writing is you
- 48:05don't really introduce a random event, a random villain who hasn't already been set
- 48:12up. That's why we called it earlier. We're like, Cassandranova seems unlikely
- 48:15because they haven't shown cassandran Nova already, but they'd shown bashed in from the
- 48:21very beginning of this, you know, from the very first episode and my
- 48:23both points out Bashington every episode when the Sinister Sinister episode, Yeah, since
- 48:31before that's something sinister Manneto go back like a lot like this whole beefless Sinister
- 48:37and Jean Gray like both talked about it's thirty years into making this fight.
- 48:40Well, I know this shit goes back to the original series. Yeah,
- 48:44I don't know. I mean more so to your point of story structure where
- 48:46they're not going to introduce new Cathers that just wasn't there. When did they
- 48:50do that? Well, granted he was in the original series. There you
- 48:52go here, and I guess I think he shows up in the first episode,
- 48:58oh like a like a in a telepath talking or the second He's like,
- 49:01I don't know, because we watched a lot of the other show.
- 49:04Maybe just the fact that he was in an early episode. And that's also
- 49:07thing, he's already established from the original series. For sand Gronova hasn't been,
- 49:12Bashian hasn't been. So Bashian's established, you know, in the very
- 49:15first episode of this series and throughout that. That's the bit bad now,
- 49:20Like what you're saying if they did a sneak peek for net season Cassandronova,
- 49:24who knows, but yeah, because it could be anything, you know,
- 49:28but I don't know where she would come in now and Caseandronova is such a
- 49:31weird character that I doubt it, yeah, because it's like it's so but
- 49:37you know, we did see some of those new George Grant Morrison New X
- 49:42Men era of mutants though in Yes, Yeah, so we saw clob Herman
- 49:45or whatever, and you know characters. That's why I was thinking maybe,
- 49:50just maybe. But we've also seen like quiet council type stuff from the counsel
- 49:55in Janosha, which they didn't have in that, and that's more like a
- 49:59cocoa or and menu. So it's been a lot of mixing where you know,
- 50:02who the hell knows, I don't know. And even that Deadpool film
- 50:06is dealing with multiple timelines, so I don't think they're going down that path
- 50:09either. Yeah, I don't think it's could be the same for Sandvanova's storyline
- 50:14in that that we know from the doubt it other than her destroying a lot
- 50:19of ship, which you know that's what Samanova likes to do. Yeah,
- 50:22Max, please, Yeah, it's definitely all forgot about that. As my
- 50:25AKA I did want to give a quick shout out to Forge in this episode
- 50:29because they did a lot of things for Forge that I love to see,
- 50:31and it's just things that we that I don't feel like I don't remember from
- 50:36the comics. Bo I've never seen done like Forge having the jet boot in
- 50:39his prosthetic leg. That was just ill and I don't think I've ever seen
- 50:44that in comics. Somebody can correct me if an awkward flight trajectory right,
- 50:50kind of weird, but it worked out an animation again, it ain't working
- 50:52a live at you animal. He got like a jet pack in the leg
- 50:57and a prosthetic. Yeah, when he jumped off the roof with him and
- 51:00Storm come down, you see the fires coming out of the missed that I
- 51:02just imagine Storm had took him up. So now the fires coming down out
- 51:06of his boot. My man got the jet boot, so kind of like
- 51:08it's coming out his ass a little bit, Okay, I mean a little
- 51:10bit. You know what happens. And then when Forge is talking to Beast
- 51:15and he's like, how did you you know come up with this? He
- 51:16just like I thought of it, And that was something they talked about in
- 51:20the recent comics too. It's like Forge, he just creates like he doesn't
- 51:24you know, He's like he imagined something and it just happens. He doesn't
- 51:29know how he did it, you know, he just builds it, like
- 51:32he's like, I need a gun that neutralizes powers, and then he builds
- 51:36it. But if you ask him you know what went into that, It's
- 51:38just I don't fucking know, you know, like it's my third day out
- 51:40here, I don't know. I don't know. And then one other Easter
- 51:45that I peeped, speaking of Roberto and Jubilee, when Jubilee burns up Roberto's
- 51:51card, his address is something something Clairemont a shout out to Yeah, real
- 51:58de Gennaro, Yeah, shout out, Yeah, shout out to Chris Claremont
- 52:01to god who I once walked up on a New York Comic con. Last
- 52:06year, I saw him and there was like a line down the block.
- 52:07But a few years ago, I walked up on this man and nobody was
- 52:12at his boots. It was one of the weirdest things. I don't understand.
- 52:14Don't recognized face, but yeah, the nigga got his name on it.
- 52:17And it's like last year the nigga had lined down the block. To
- 52:21this day, I'll never understand that one He did have a line wrapped around
- 52:23the booths. Every day he was everybody, And one day I didn't get
- 52:29a picture nothing, but I sat there and talked to Clairemont for a good
- 52:31time with nobody else around. So shout out to that man. Some other
- 52:37people, I mean, Rob, the field all kinds of niggas. I
- 52:39ran nobody. I was sitting on a stoop, swinging, sitting on the
- 52:43curb. Yeah, I seen I seen Rob sitting outside of New York Comic
- 52:47Con on the curb. Nobody was smoking a black and mouth. Nah,
- 52:52he was drawing and ship he was as I started talking to him, you
- 52:55know, you know, we chopped it up. And then when he went
- 52:59inside and that in his booth, dead pulled for a mile, Dead bulls
- 53:04for a mile. Boy. So yeah, another episode we got one left.
- 53:14I'm sad, fam this is like, you know, this is the
- 53:16reason show was on. Like I was like, why why can't this be
- 53:20on all the time? You know, like, well, we're going to
- 53:22get at least two more seasons. They said they want to run. It
- 53:27is Bow to Mile going to be a part of I understand he quest the
- 53:30second season. He wrote the second season already for what I understand, it's
- 53:34written. But he also said that he has no input on the next season.
- 53:39So yeah, whether or not what he wrote was used is you know,
- 53:45there's a lot of I've been on shows and been fired. We still
- 53:50have to understand what and maybe he were real it one day, but what
- 53:52happened and hopefully, you know, he'll get rehired. You know, they
- 53:55went back to James Gunn. Marvels also said that they want to do multiple
- 54:00seasons. They've already guaranteed to and prib guarantee to. They wanted to run
- 54:05for as long as it can. So when you've got a dude like that,
- 54:10I think all those storylines that we want from Krokoa to you know,
- 54:15New X Men to all that, I think they're going to get around to
- 54:17that because they can do our season on Crocola, they could do a Coca,
- 54:21could be a whole season, it could be multiple seasons. That storyline
- 54:24is huge, you know, so huge. I'm actually just I'm so excited
- 54:30about where the show can go and what it means for the greater MCU,
- 54:35because you know, they're clearly taking notes as to seeing what's resonating with this
- 54:38show in regards to, you know, formulating the X Men live action when
- 54:43they finally get around to it. So it's really, really it's another step
- 54:46in the right direction for for fighting in the MC. Yeah. Yeah,
- 54:51and they could take some notes. They still got to be careful because there's
- 54:53as we said, there's ship you can do an animation that you cannot do
- 54:57a live action that just do not fucking translate no matter how well you write,
- 55:00it is just don't come off the same. So, you know,
- 55:04I do think that that idea of again such a great point you made,
- 55:08aj just about the fact that you can take pieces of other approaches and stories
- 55:16and things like that and really make it into your own. And further our
- 55:20point that I mean about it's not just about Cannon, Like it can't be
- 55:24just about Cannon. You got to move on and that's right, there's there's
- 55:30there's there is not one way to do this. And then even to add
- 55:35on to that point because shout out to our brother Young Grouve, Yeah,
- 55:37he had a comment about how Canon is very important and we're working on getting
- 55:40him on the show. So yes we are, so we can discuss this
- 55:45at length, but I will say to add on to that point that I
- 55:51don't really believe cannon is that necessary. I believe the cannon is very mutable
- 55:54and it changes over time, and you shouldn't stick to one idea and things
- 56:00like X Men should have it, you know, X Men ninety seven with
- 56:05the animated world, should be its own canon where they can do their own
- 56:07versions of stories and you don't have to see the exact same stories from the
- 56:12comics because that's boring to me. And then I think X Men ninety seven
- 56:16another point that has proven. I'm excited about the film versus of it,
- 56:20but I think X Men has really proven that X Men as a property works
- 56:24best in a serialized where you have multiple episodes, where a movie it's just
- 56:30it ain't enough time to get into the soap operatness of X Men. And
- 56:34me, I'd much rather see an X Men series for Marvel or multiple series
- 56:37for Marvel, and hopefully, you know, in the future we get to
- 56:40that. But the animated joint to me, is giving me everything I need
- 56:45from X Men, like as far as watching it. You know, I
- 56:49can read the comics and I can watch the show and that's pretty much I'm
- 56:52hype. And then also the word came out today that Ryan Koodler has signed
- 56:58on for Black Panther three, was eyeing him to do the X Men movie.
- 57:04Really, yes, learn came out today, so that Black Panther is
- 57:08three. I really whoa whoa, whoa whoa. Wait, we'll get to
- 57:16that. I love I love Conda Trevor. Okay, go ahead. I
- 57:22really hope for the X Men, for them live action, that they they
- 57:28do have a black person leading or people of person, people of color as
- 57:31the main writing team and the main team put all that together because as we
- 57:36see and Ben you made that point many episodes ago and even said that to
- 57:39Bow himself, and he appreciated that it matters. It matters all the difference,
- 57:45and and it matters because, as I said to Bow, in the
- 57:50comics, the you know, traditional medium of X Men, it's very rare.
- 57:54It's up until Eve youing, you know this year where a black person
- 58:00is writing the main X Men series. I think it happened one time before,
- 58:04but they weren't writing one of the main X Men series. And Eve
- 58:07is writing one of the main ones this year. So that's social rarity.
- 58:12You know, and so because of a series that is representative of minorities and
- 58:16oppressed individuals, for it to have never been written by one is wild.
- 58:22So that's why you see this breatness coming from both. And Bo's also obviously
- 58:27an extremely talented creator who has a team of motherfuckers who are super dedicated to
- 58:32this. And Bo is like a super fan of X Men in a way
- 58:37that you know, I see very few people who have these jobs at least,
- 58:40you know, because there's a lot of people who are super fans,
- 58:42but they don't have these jobs in these positions. So that's why we're getting
- 58:45this breakness. So I'm definitely hype about Ryan Cooler, you know, doing
- 58:49X Men, and I know he gonna bring nothing but the you know,
- 58:52brothers and sisters onto it, you know. And I don't just mean brothers
- 58:55and sisters, I mean brothers and sisters of all creeds and colors. But
- 59:00I think, you know, man, that's man ninety seven has done it.
- 59:04Fam It's just like they've captured the essence. You know. They got
- 59:07the soap opera, they got the over sexualized you know, energy of these
- 59:13characters, and then they got you know, the action. They have the
- 59:16essence they have Rogue telling off Professor, and it's like I knew Rogue was
- 59:22doing with Magnito from before the episode started, immediately, immediately, yeah,
- 59:25as soon as she wrote, you know, it's like, yeah, yeah,
- 59:28nigga, like no, nigga, y'all niggas failed and Storm your ass
- 59:31was off doing yet, you know, And that's what you wasn't here.
- 59:35You wasn't with me shooting the gym, And that's that's the we talked about
- 59:37it before. It's so wild how they've been hitting on so many things that
- 59:42like al Ewing's whole run on X Men Red is about how Storm can't be
- 59:46everywhere that she needs to be and everyone needs Storm, but there's only one
- 59:52of her and she can't be all these places and because of that, things
- 59:54fall apart, and that's exactly what they're saying to her here. And it's
- 59:59so crazy. These two themes, which were written independently of each other,
- 1:00:02coalesced at the same time in the same year to the same point very well
- 1:00:07known. Man man man oh man, Oh. Something I hadn't forgot to
- 1:00:12mention because you mentioned the guards, like you're talking about Claremont and all that
- 1:00:15just back to when I was watching the pilot episode. The fact that stan
- 1:00:19Lee was fucking narrating. I was that that took me, well that but
- 1:00:24like it took me back, like oh, like it took it took me
- 1:00:28a back, Like damn. I just didn't expect to hear his voice,
- 1:00:31and having not heard his voice for so long, because it's been some time,
- 1:00:35It's been a few years since I've heard it, like directly connected to
- 1:00:37a Marble property. So I was just like, holy shit, like it's
- 1:00:42man, Yeah, the legacy is crazy. And I remember as a kid
- 1:00:47when I watched that episode for the first time, and also you know you
- 1:00:51got to you know, seeing an episode like that in school, and you
- 1:00:53know me, I had only seen a few comics in my life at that
- 1:00:57point. Once again, it just completely scrambled my brain. Like there was
- 1:01:00me before that, and there was me after that, and it was stan
- 1:01:04Lee at the very beginning narrating. It changed my life. Hearing his voice
- 1:01:07that same monologue here you're referencing Tatiana. It literally changed my life. Like
- 1:01:13I was like, hey, true believers, I'm like, wow, well
- 1:01:15this guy's just he's getting me so amped up. So watch this episode like,
- 1:01:20yeah, we'll never have that again, man, would we just you
- 1:01:22know, we'll never have that? And and that's what he was. Like
- 1:01:25I grew up reading the comics and read it like when I I always talked
- 1:01:29about it when I grew up, Jim Shooter was the editor in chief,
- 1:01:31and Jim Shooter would do the soapboxes. What if you could be called Stanley's
- 1:01:35soap box. But I think stan was still writing his own so he had
- 1:01:38a little editorial in every issue you could read, and it would just be
- 1:01:42Staying talking about various things. And you've seen some of the more famous ones
- 1:01:45where you talked about racism and all that type of stuff. But I also
- 1:01:47grew up with Spider Man and his Amazing Friends the cartoon and on that.
- 1:01:52Stan would open every episode just like that, talking his shit, and he
- 1:01:57would end every episode with that it's selsy or and that shit used to like
- 1:02:00y'all said, it was like, you know, it's it's amazing you know
- 1:02:04people, you know, Staying has his criticisms and well deserved, but like
- 1:02:08there was nobody like that, you know, who believed in this product,
- 1:02:13who sold it to all these kids like that, And like y'all said,
- 1:02:16you know that hey, true believers, you know it just you're like,
- 1:02:19hey, I'm one of the true believers, you know, and it just
- 1:02:21get you into this and you're like, damn if this niggas just hype about
- 1:02:23this shit, I be hype about it. And then he would end every
- 1:02:28Spider Man episode with that at Selsey or that shit man resting beast like rest
- 1:02:32in power man than everything. He believes it. So I believe it.
- 1:02:37Yeah, and thank you to Jack Kirby and Steve Dickckoe. Also, you
- 1:02:39know, some of the great creators of X Man. We also talked about,
- 1:02:43you know, Chris Claremont of course, always big up Louise Simonson because
- 1:02:45she don't get near enough love and those Senti's another one. All the great
- 1:02:51creators, you know, Brant Morrison down, the Hiit Man, aluing Eve,
- 1:02:53you and everybody taking over now. So yeah, you know we shouted
- 1:02:57all y'all out of course. So is that everything for this episode nine?
- 1:03:01I think? So, you know, we talked about she a bird,
- 1:03:05clean Ford thinking about it. Uh, Storm, we didn't. We didn't
- 1:03:08mentioned Storm and Jene reunited, and that was very sweet. It was a
- 1:03:12very sweet moment. And that's another. You know, that's another comic book.
- 1:03:15Paining their sisterhood is like, you know, that's something that goes deep
- 1:03:17into comics. So for those of us who are comic readers, it was
- 1:03:22just like, oh, you know, so yeah, I really loved that,
- 1:03:24even though I also love rotelling her off. You know, it happened.
- 1:03:29You know, people gotta get read for philth saying Storm was not around,
- 1:03:31she was gonna follocking this one more episode, one more episode for this
- 1:03:38first season, this monumental first season of X Men ninety seven, This yeah,
- 1:03:45out of left field. To be honest with you, like, I
- 1:03:46know, I know, I know, we said those people who was very
- 1:03:50excited about it, some that were not aj but that said, we were
- 1:03:54all fucking surprised about what we ended up with. And it feels like and
- 1:04:00or where I remember Mellow Marketer hit me up, my man Mellow, and
- 1:04:04he said, it's better than any it has any right to be. And
- 1:04:09that's exactly how I feel about in man, it's better than has any right
- 1:04:13to be, Like, it should not be as fucking good and it is.
- 1:04:16It could have been worse and it would still be a good show,
- 1:04:19you know what I mean. But they went right, it could Yeah,
- 1:04:24all these episodes would have been like ten worse and it's still be a great
- 1:04:28show. Times Is Extinction Part three? What are we going to get?
- 1:04:33I don't know, Like I don't even know anymore. I don't even know.
- 1:04:40Like I made a lot of predictions. You know. The only prediction
- 1:04:43I've I've made that I've really stood behind is I knew that it would end
- 1:04:45with Magneto and Professor Eds on different sides and you know, back to the
- 1:04:49basics of them having disagreeing philosophies. But do we end with them merge as
- 1:04:57some onslought, like Doro, the humans do some wild shit that makes them
- 1:05:00bug out and they I think Bishop shows up for some reason. Is going
- 1:05:08to show up because he hasn't been around yep, but Willy because like he
- 1:05:12did his job, he took the get to the future. We've seen what
- 1:05:15happened cables there. You know, like, what is he gonna come back
- 1:05:18to do? Like it will be the fact that you mentioned him and the
- 1:05:20fact that like I forgot that he existed for a second. I'm just like,
- 1:05:24oh, yeah, that would be a nice surprise, And they mentioned
- 1:05:26in this episode, So yeah, he got a show up, he got
- 1:05:29a show up. Yeah, yeah, I don't even know sun Spot finally
- 1:05:33gainst Well damn it about to say sun Spot finally gets the intro as part
- 1:05:39of the team, but that ain't happening. I love the intro. I
- 1:05:43love I love how they keep changing the intro and swapping characters out, like
- 1:05:46Magneto. Magneto had his little run and they added that, which was so
- 1:05:51fun access back. Yeah, I know, it is just funny, but
- 1:05:55I noticed. I'm like, well, how come sun Spot didn't get one
- 1:05:57and then forged for because some spot happen. As I said, was using
- 1:06:01his power for the last two seconds. He just got hisny little ass in
- 1:06:06that costume. This he has not been doing anything. He has not been
- 1:06:11on his shift or doing anything until now. So no, you don't get
- 1:06:14an intro card. Now this niggas don't get an intro card, right,
- 1:06:19which is fine, that part. I don't care about it. Maybe they
- 1:06:21flip it up and like they give Rogue like evil evil intro cards. I
- 1:06:26don't know. I don't know how to do it, but yeah, Rogue
- 1:06:30and't go be there next week. It's funny. I forgot that. Magneto
- 1:06:34had a quick run and too quick. I'm wondering if we're ever gonna see
- 1:06:45you know, my favorite roster of all the X Men was the Australian team.
- 1:06:49It was like long Shot and Gateway and you know, Sielock or you
- 1:06:56know. I would love to see some of those characters pop up at some
- 1:06:59point, but then they all popped up, a lot of them. I
- 1:07:00don't know why Gateway. I doubt it because that's problematic, but a lot
- 1:07:05of them did show up in the original series. Yeah, long SHOT's already
- 1:07:10been in it, so like whether they come back is another question. Silocked
- 1:07:14that Asian version, I don't think it's ever been in it, and I
- 1:07:16don't think she ever will. Yeah, I know, but you know that's
- 1:07:24your girl, right one, dear girl that you like the actress. But
- 1:07:26okay, okay, anyway, anyway, next week. We'll be back next
- 1:07:33week. AJ Please let the people know where they can find you at out
- 1:07:38here on these internets. Go to earth Tone King. That's Earthtone king dot
- 1:07:45com, and you can check out all of my graphic novels. I've gotten
- 1:07:47my Horror pooke a dragon Face, my Space Cowboy Comic, Kimmy Cosmic,
- 1:07:53and my afrofuturistic comic Drone Slayer X. They are all there. Also next
- 1:07:58month, June twenty six if you go to your local comic book store,
- 1:08:01you can get the first issue of my new superhero comic, Ninjack Versus Roku,
- 1:08:06coming out from Valiant Comics Valiant Alien Books. I am the first black
- 1:08:12writer to be writing Ninjack. I like the Valiant I love the Valiant comic
- 1:08:16book universe. I love you know, I'm a big Marvel and DC fan,
- 1:08:21but I've been reading Valiant since the nineties. They were like my favorite
- 1:08:25comic book superhero universe. So the fact that I'm writing for them has been
- 1:08:29a huge gift to me and a huge moment for me as a comic book
- 1:08:32aspiring comic book writer. So once again, June twenty sixth, the first
- 1:08:36issue Ninjack Versus Roku, I can soft announce that I am writing shadow Man
- 1:08:42next. Shadow Man is also a black character, and I am the first
- 1:08:45black man to be writing this character too as well. So I'm very excited
- 1:08:50to get into, you know, the shadow Man's stuff. Been reading up
- 1:08:54and studying my Kudu and my voodoo and you know, African magic, all
- 1:08:59that time stuff normal talk about us, and I need to and I need
- 1:09:03to talk to you about that. In fact, yeah, I know for
- 1:09:05sure, you know we're gonna follow up? Were gonn follow up? Are
- 1:09:08you going to be at Brooklyn Comic Con? I exhibited there last year.
- 1:09:14I think I might try to get on a panel if it's not too late,
- 1:09:16but I don't have any plans of being there unless except for just walking
- 1:09:20through real quick. But uh yeah, maybe maybe we'll see what about San
- 1:09:27Diego? San Diego probably not as well? You know what it is I
- 1:09:32did. I did a bunch of conventions last year, and I wanted to
- 1:09:34do a bunch this year, but I needed to take a break just because
- 1:09:39so many, so much stuff has happened on the back end, and I
- 1:09:41want to catch up on the back and stuff. So whatever con I missed
- 1:09:44this here, I plan and do it next year. So hopefully if I
- 1:09:47don't do it this year, I'll do it next year. But New York
- 1:09:49Comic Con is probably gonna be a definite for me, anime y C potentially
- 1:09:55for anime ny C, Blurred Con potentially for that. So yeah, but
- 1:10:00thank you for asking. I mean, I'll be at brook and common kind
- 1:10:02of walking through at least if I don't get if I don't get it on
- 1:10:05a panel, okay, I make some clothes. Oh just like that.
- 1:10:15Hey, you know you're part of the fan fan now you know the circle
- 1:10:18trust. So once again, yeah, thank you for joining us. Well,
- 1:10:23definitely have to have you. Thank you for having me. I really
- 1:10:26really you know, love y'all show, love what y'all do for the culture.
- 1:10:30So anything that I can do to be a part of it, I'm
- 1:10:32here anytime. No, we'll definitely have to have you back so we can
- 1:10:35talk about Ninjack. You know, a little closer to the release, they
- 1:10:39we'll have you on so we can talk about everything with that. I'm also
- 1:10:43a big Valiant fan. I go back, just like you to the nineties.
- 1:10:45Shout out to Bob Layton and Jim Shooter, who I just mentioned,
- 1:10:48who's one of the founding fathers of Valiant, Like you know, so shout
- 1:10:54out. Yeah, I go back bro like that was one of them at
- 1:10:57So mana war with Bob Layton because I love Thinking so much. Such a
- 1:11:00cool character, man, I mean all of them. Ninjack, I'm really
- 1:11:03hyper doing that shadow Man. That's a Jack bonamface. I think right,
- 1:11:06that is real. Yeah, it sam all Marines, you know, but
- 1:11:12you know, don't don't have me sil lords, bro, Like, come
- 1:11:15on, fam, this is all me. The original Doctor Mara series.
- 1:11:19Second, and I was thinking about that is that that was as a kid
- 1:11:27when I read that comic because here you have a Korean man in a in
- 1:11:30a relationship with the black, a black Brazilian world. That was the first
- 1:11:34ripping exactly exactly, And I had a she was my comic book crush crazy
- 1:11:42because because at that time, you know, as a kid, I wasn't
- 1:11:45really trying to read comics for romantic relationships, like as a young boy,
- 1:11:48teenage boy, that wasn't what I was into. That was the first romantic
- 1:11:51relationship where I was I was shipping them. I was like, Yo,
- 1:11:54what's gonna happen? Is he? You know, I was really into the
- 1:11:57actual romance and it was just so dope that you know, it was also
- 1:12:00an interracial relationship and also just there weren't a lot of black women in comic
- 1:12:04characters. So that that comic series, that was like one of my favorite
- 1:12:09comments of that time. It was such a special comic. So I'm glad
- 1:12:11that you mentioned the original Doctor Mirage because I was a huge fan of that,
- 1:12:15huge fan. Huge. But yeah, we'll definitely have to have you
- 1:12:18back to talk more about this, you know what I mean anytime. I'm
- 1:12:23so happy I didn't I didn't have to work tonight so I can pull up
- 1:12:25on it on the show. This has been very refreshing and enjoyable for me.
