- 1:38Speaker 3: on a wonderful Thursday afternoon.
- 1:41Speaker 8: Kids.
- 1:42Speaker 3: There was also a time even uh after everybody started
- 1:47Speaker 3: getting stuff up, but you couldn't call people until after.
- 1:52Speaker 3: So it was originally nine p four nights and weekends,
- 1:56Speaker 3: and then at one point you could pay for seven.
- 2:00Speaker 8: Moved it up to eight. Yes, but yeah, like you
- 2:02Speaker 8: said you could pay for you could.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Pay for seven on your plan and then yeah, okay
- 2:07Speaker 3: because it were you reminded me of that when you
- 2:09Speaker 3: started talking about long distance.
- 2:10Speaker 8: Yes, yeah, okay, uh oh, we were talking about long
- 2:13Speaker 8: distance in the break because my girls asked what was
- 2:16Speaker 8: toll free, so we had to go down that whole
- 2:18Speaker 8: rabbit hole. Folks, you there's some of you who will
- 2:23Speaker 8: remember this, but I think most of us won't. And
- 2:25Speaker 8: it's crazy to think about it in this day and
- 2:26Speaker 8: age when we really don't call each other anymore we
- 2:29Speaker 8: text each other. You used to have to pay not
- 2:32Speaker 8: for the ability, not only for the ability to text,
- 2:35Speaker 8: but to s Yeah, per text, you would pay. I
- 2:39Speaker 8: believe my initial plan was like five cents per text.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Mine was mine was someone sense of text.
- 2:46Speaker 8: Folks understand this kind of like tea in a restaurant,
- 2:51Speaker 8: when you're paying for three dollars for tea despite the
- 2:54Speaker 8: fact the unit costs for that glass t is like
- 2:56Speaker 8: point oh five cents. Yes, by the way, that's about
- 3:00Speaker 8: what it costs cost with air quotes to text. Again,
- 3:06Speaker 8: companies were making handover phis. But that also was kind
- 3:09Speaker 8: of that's kind of what forced you to actually call people,
- 3:12Speaker 8: just like it's gonna cost me five cents to tell
- 3:14Speaker 8: them like or O m W.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I used to get something. I'm like, quit texting me
- 3:19Speaker 3: and just call And now I'm the exact opposite. Why
- 3:22Speaker 3: are you calling?
- 3:23Speaker 6: Send me?
- 3:24Speaker 3: But no, yeah, my my plane. I remember this when
- 3:27Speaker 3: I first started, because I was like, who's gonna text?
- 3:29Speaker 3: But it was two hundred free texts a month ten
- 3:33Speaker 3: cents of text after that. Can you imagine how like
- 3:36Speaker 3: what your phone bill would be today just between you
- 3:40Speaker 3: and I when we getting getting ready to do a show,
- 3:43Speaker 3: and it was more like if do not try to
- 3:47Speaker 3: send a picture by text back then, by the.
- 3:51Speaker 8: Way, if you we were talking about how painful it
- 3:53Speaker 8: was for a song to download pictures on flip.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Oh my good lord, that was that was something as weird.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Like again, it is one of the things that if
- 4:04Speaker 3: you thought we were saying, get off of our lawn
- 4:06Speaker 3: just about like sports stuff. Do not get me started
- 4:10Speaker 3: on phone usage. And do you do the girls have
- 4:13Speaker 3: did the girls have a phone yet, Wesley does?
- 4:17Speaker 8: I'm gonna tell you this, Peyton. I think Peyton either
- 4:21Speaker 8: has talked with enough girls at summer camp or she
- 4:25Speaker 8: she is obviously smart enough. She's doing everything in her
- 4:29Speaker 8: power to make it a point that it would.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Just be easier if I had a phone.
- 4:36Speaker 8: That way, I'm not using your phone or your iPad
- 4:39Speaker 8: to talk to my friends who are calling texting.
- 4:44Speaker 3: It.
- 4:45Speaker 8: I mean, it's it's the same strategy I used when
- 4:48Speaker 8: I wanted to get a car, and so I got
- 4:49Speaker 8: a job and I kept using parents vehicles, and it
- 4:53Speaker 8: just it just.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Makes this you might as well just give me give
- 4:56Speaker 3: me in my own so this week or actually, sorry,
- 4:59Speaker 3: the last time that Jared ro on, we got onto
- 5:02Speaker 3: a rank that we have been going on about for
- 5:05Speaker 3: a while now as far as preseason ranking rankings and
- 5:09Speaker 3: what that actually means and the longer term ramifications of
- 5:13Speaker 3: how that looks when you start getting into the college
- 5:16Speaker 3: football playoff rankings, to which, and you make a good point,
- 5:19Speaker 3: there's absolutely no way that those thirteen people when they
- 5:23Speaker 3: go in the room can't take preseason or regular rankings
- 5:27Speaker 3: as we get into the week four now rankings into effect,
- 5:29Speaker 3: because as you said, they use a ranked win as
- 5:34Speaker 3: a criteria for how to weight some of those.
- 5:36Speaker 8: Games they all end Also for the teams they want
- 5:40Speaker 8: to do this for, they will use a ranked loss
- 5:42Speaker 8: as a quality loss as opposed to loss a hurtful loss,
- 5:48Speaker 8: which I'm sorry, if you lose to a team by
- 5:54Speaker 8: in the case of one of the teams we're going
- 5:56Speaker 8: to reference here by over twenty, it really doesn't matter
- 6:00Speaker 8: if they were ranked or unranked, should you lost by
- 6:02Speaker 8: three scores.
- 6:05Speaker 3: So, Jared and I actually have data now to go
- 6:09Speaker 3: over this. So we have the preseason poll that came out, which.
- 6:12Speaker 8: So what you're saying is Jason and Jared found out, Yes.
- 6:17Speaker 3: So we have to And so the preseason poll, and
- 6:19Speaker 3: like that team a couple of miles to the south
- 6:22Speaker 3: and east was ranked number one. But in the day
- 6:25Speaker 3: so the west, yes, southwest the preseason poll. Of that
- 6:29Speaker 3: top twenty five, we have four teams that dropped significantly
- 6:34Speaker 3: and we have seven separate teams out of that that
- 6:39Speaker 3: are out completely, that have dropped out of the top
- 6:42Speaker 3: twenty five completely.
- 6:44Speaker 8: In just three weeks. Yes, all right, I want to
- 6:46Speaker 8: go back to what you brought up. You go back
- 6:50Speaker 8: to the preseason huh, and look at how many first
- 6:54Speaker 8: place votes teams got. So going into this year, Texas
- 6:59Speaker 8: got twenty five for place votes, Penn State got twenty
- 7:02Speaker 8: three first place votes, Ohio State got eleven, Clason got four,
- 7:06Speaker 8: Georgia got one, Notre Dame got zero despite the fact
- 7:10Speaker 8: they were ranked six, and then Oregon got one at seven. Yes,
- 7:14Speaker 8: flip to this going into going into week four. So
- 7:18Speaker 8: this is after the results of week three in the
- 7:21Speaker 8: ap top twenty five, Penn State fifty five first place votes.
- 7:26Speaker 8: In Ohio State, Penn State only has five.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Yes, and Ohio State got all of those because.
- 7:34Speaker 8: Why because they they they eat Texas and the first
- 7:37Speaker 8: week in the first week by a touchdown. Now neither
- 7:44Speaker 8: team looked that great, and we talked about it.
- 7:46Speaker 3: We were out here, We're.
- 7:47Speaker 8: Like that was a it was an ugly game to
- 7:50Speaker 8: watch if.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Neither of those two teams looked like top five teams.
- 7:52Speaker 8: No, they don't. And since then, Ohio State has not
- 7:56Speaker 8: playing played a ranked opponent. In fact, I don't even
- 7:58Speaker 8: think they have played a power opponents in that period
- 8:01Speaker 8: of time. Penn State, same story, They're undefeated, have yet
- 8:07Speaker 8: to play anyone, although I believe they have Oregon in
- 8:09Speaker 8: two weeks and that's going to kind of be their
- 8:11Speaker 8: first test. But this kind of goes back to what
- 8:13Speaker 8: we were taught. We've kind of the thesis of this argument,
- 8:17Speaker 8: and we'll dive in more. Especially for the teams who
- 8:19Speaker 8: have dropped. It is virtually impossible for the vast majority
- 8:25Speaker 8: of AP voters to have good functional knowledge on all
- 8:31Speaker 8: college football teams to make an assessment to say these
- 8:35Speaker 8: are the twenty five best teams in the country going
- 8:39Speaker 8: into the year.
- 8:40Speaker 3: As we have talked about, and as we even went
- 8:42Speaker 3: over to start the show about with where the portal
- 8:45Speaker 3: is and then this day and era of nil and
- 8:48Speaker 3: again like they've taken out the spring transfer windle, but
- 8:52Speaker 3: it was their last year, so they got there were
- 8:54Speaker 3: teams that had significant changes after the after their spring game,
- 8:59Speaker 3: and so they didn't You don't know what these guys like.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Even if you see people coming in, they're not those
- 9:05Speaker 3: guys that came in after the spring transfer window. Didn't practice.
- 9:08Speaker 3: They were just doing offseason football, right. You know.
- 9:12Speaker 8: The strongest case to me in regards to this argument
- 9:16Speaker 8: that we have is last year and the fact that
- 9:18Speaker 8: you go into the season Michigan State is your reigning
- 9:21Speaker 8: national champion. Michigan, Michigan. That's what said.
- 9:24Speaker 3: You said State, But that's fine.
- 9:25Speaker 8: I'm sorry, Michigan, Michigan is your reigning national champion. They're
- 9:28Speaker 8: head coach is gone, a number of their key members
- 9:31Speaker 8: of the coaching staff has gone, virtually everyone on their
- 9:34Speaker 8: defense and their starting quarterback gone. That team was completely
- 9:40Speaker 8: different than the one that just won a national championship.
- 9:42Speaker 8: But they go into the year ranked number five.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Yep.
- 9:48Speaker 8: But every seemingly, everyone including us lay people who get
- 9:54Speaker 8: to quote unquote play radio, this is this team. There
- 10:00Speaker 8: is no way this team is the fifth best team
- 10:02Speaker 8: in the country at the start of the year. So
- 10:04Speaker 8: why are you ranking them that high? You know, but
- 10:07Speaker 8: you should know.
- 10:08Speaker 3: That if you don't, then you don't then you shouldn't
- 10:10Speaker 3: be a voter.
- 10:11Speaker 8: And so I'm gonna take a little side step right
- 10:14Speaker 8: now because i know there are a uh, this is
- 10:18Speaker 8: kind of starting to pop up because you're kind of
- 10:19Speaker 8: you're seeing it on the social media platforms where people
- 10:23Speaker 8: are like going viterally going after AP voters for some
- 10:29Speaker 8: of their votes. Folks, stop, please stop, Okay, there there
- 10:37Speaker 8: is enough to are you to let me say this
- 10:41Speaker 8: reasonably and sensibly. Are you about when it comes.
- 10:44Speaker 3: To sports, which is what we're doing right now?
- 10:46Speaker 8: Exactly, We're just you, don't we You do not have
- 10:49Speaker 8: to make it personal, and you do not have to
- 10:50Speaker 8: take it anything beyond that. Nope, yes it is. We are.
- 10:56Speaker 8: You are well within your rights to question why you
- 10:59Speaker 8: you vote certain way. And here's the deal, and this
- 11:03Speaker 8: is being honest. No one's able to watch all these games.
- 11:07Speaker 8: Most of the time. You're looking at box scores, you're
- 11:09Speaker 8: leading reviews. This is kind of my working theory that
- 11:12Speaker 8: I've been building up. It's basically a giant game of
- 11:16Speaker 8: telephone going into the year, where one person writes an
- 11:20Speaker 8: analysis of a team and another person reads that takes
- 11:25Speaker 8: it as gospel. That's the stuff they start regurgitating, and
- 11:29Speaker 8: it just keeps going and going and going. And that's
- 11:31Speaker 8: how you come into a year saying that Texas is
- 11:36Speaker 8: not only the number one team, but they have a
- 11:38Speaker 8: generational quarterback who is already the preseason Heisman favorite despite
- 11:44Speaker 8: the fact he had started less than three games and
- 11:47Speaker 8: played I think a total of what thirteen quarterses. I mean,
- 11:55Speaker 8: so and on our ting either because thank you, because
- 12:00Speaker 8: who else were the preseason favorites for the Heisman yep
- 12:04Speaker 8: Kate Clubnick clake k Clubnick at Clemson and Newsmyer at LSU.
- 12:09Speaker 8: And what have those two quarterbacks done in the first
- 12:12Speaker 8: three weeks? They have looked as bad, if not worse.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Yes, And so that's where we are of just trying
- 12:18Speaker 3: to feel like how we cannot, for the life of us,
- 12:21Speaker 3: completely understand how this is going. Because again, one of
- 12:24Speaker 3: the ones that you and I have talked about now
- 12:26Speaker 3: multiple times, whether they're on air off, the opposite of
- 12:30Speaker 3: the teams that we talked about that have ever fallen
- 12:32Speaker 3: significantly or fallen all the way out is a team
- 12:35Speaker 3: like Florida State that beat and give them credit for
- 12:39Speaker 3: beating Alabama, they had a lot of but this is
- 12:41Speaker 3: a team that was not only not ranked in the
- 12:45Speaker 3: top twenty five, they weren't receiving votes, to which Jared
- 12:48Speaker 3: and I looked at, that's like the first the top
- 12:50Speaker 3: thirty five schools correct. And they jumped in after that
- 12:54Speaker 3: win against Alabama to what do we say, fifteen.
- 12:56Speaker 8: Fourteen, fourteen, they've completely unranked to number fourteen.
- 13:00Speaker 3: And now they are all the way up to number.
- 13:02Speaker 8: Seven at two and oh, by the way, yes, so
- 13:07Speaker 8: they beat Alabama. They beat Alabama, and then they played
- 13:10Speaker 8: some directional either in FCS or FBS school which granted
- 13:15Speaker 8: they put up seventy some odd points, but again against
- 13:18Speaker 8: an inferior opponent. What what do we what do you
- 13:23Speaker 8: handicap that at thirty thirty to forty points against against
- 13:27Speaker 8: a you know, a mid tier Power five team? Again,
- 13:32Speaker 8: you you ap. Voters did not believe Florida State, who
- 13:37Speaker 8: finished the twenty twenty four season at ten dad, was
- 13:42Speaker 8: worthy enough to even receive.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Vote a single not an angle vote, because again, if
- 13:46Speaker 3: you don't know how the voting goes, the first place
- 13:49Speaker 3: to vote gets twenty five points. The a if you
- 13:51Speaker 3: want to rank a team number twenty five, that gets
- 13:53Speaker 3: you one point, so it's inversely were inversely numbered that way,
- 13:57Speaker 3: but nobody even thought they like gave them a point,
- 14:01Speaker 3: and to start this season, nobody thought anything of them.
- 14:03Speaker 3: And now two weeks in, after going too to zero,
- 14:06Speaker 3: they are now the number seven team in the country.
- 14:09Speaker 3: After again, I don't want to take away from the
- 14:11Speaker 3: Alabama victory, buterious, but.
- 14:14Speaker 8: I mean, you say that, what has Alabama shown got
- 14:19Speaker 8: nothing because in their two games since then they've played
- 14:24Speaker 8: nobody's they put up big points. But again it's not
- 14:27Speaker 8: hard for a power A team, obviously with the talent
- 14:32Speaker 8: that Alabama was able to amass, which by the way,
- 14:35Speaker 8: was the AP's argument for why they should be ranked
- 14:38Speaker 8: eighth to start the year, to then get thoroughly dominated
- 14:42Speaker 8: in game one and then you dropped. They dropped going
- 14:46Speaker 8: from week one to week two, they dropped thirteen I
- 14:50Speaker 8: think thirteen spots, yes, to twenty one, and now they're
- 14:53Speaker 8: back up to number fourteen.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Yeah, after having played nobody, absolutely nobody.
- 15:00Speaker 8: And again the College Football Playoff Committee claims they do
- 15:04Speaker 8: not take these rankings into your cup, or more importantly,
- 15:07Speaker 8: that they are only a small component in their analysis,
- 15:10Speaker 8: except for the fact they use quality wins, quality losses,
- 15:15Speaker 8: wins against ranked opponents, losses against ranked opponents as part
- 15:19Speaker 8: of their criteria.
- 15:20Speaker 5: It is.
- 15:23Speaker 8: It's a hypocrisy at its finest, and again it's based
- 15:28Speaker 8: on flawed logic. Because let's go to our most recent
- 15:33Speaker 8: example of a ranked team that dropped completely out of
- 15:35Speaker 8: the top twenty five after this week, and I would
- 15:38Speaker 8: argue this was probably the most surprising outcome for all
- 15:41Speaker 8: this pass from the weekend in college football, and that
- 15:44Speaker 8: is South Carolina getting thoroughly throttled by the three and
- 15:48Speaker 8: zero Vanderbilt Commodores. And I meant, and I'm sorry, I'm
- 15:52Speaker 8: meant to have the boat horn ready to play anytime
- 15:55Speaker 8: we say Vanderbilt, we got to have a boat horn play.
- 15:58Speaker 8: But South care Carolina starts the year at number thirteen.
- 16:02Speaker 8: They win Week one very impressively, they get moved up
- 16:06Speaker 8: to number ten, they have a bye week, and during
- 16:11Speaker 8: that bye week, Florida State actually jumps from fourteen to
- 16:15Speaker 8: ten and pushes South Carolina down one spot to eleven,
- 16:19Speaker 8: which I thought this was kind of one of the
- 16:22Speaker 8: sacred things that if a team's on a bye they
- 16:25Speaker 8: should they shouldn't move you down. Didn't get worse because
- 16:28Speaker 8: you didn't play, because you didn't play. But don't be
- 16:31Speaker 8: surprised if we see that happen to our school this
- 16:33Speaker 8: week because we're on a bye. It may not be
- 16:35Speaker 8: the worst thing, because I don't want I want expectations
- 16:38Speaker 8: to remain calm. But then they get beat by a
- 16:44Speaker 8: two and zero Vanderbilt team, which, by the way, if
- 16:46Speaker 8: we're going to use criteria of how did you do
- 16:48Speaker 8: last year? There, no, they're still rolling.
- 16:53Speaker 3: And they should have had some better they should have
- 16:55Speaker 3: had better recognition earlier.
- 16:57Speaker 8: Exactly, So you got beat Equality team, you got dominated
- 17:01Speaker 8: by Equality team. You also unfortunately lose your starting to
- 17:04Speaker 8: quarterback in the process, and the number eleven team in
- 17:08Speaker 8: the country off that loss drops completely out of the
- 17:12Speaker 8: top twenty five. So ap voters, what is your what?
- 17:17Speaker 8: What is your post mortem diagnosis? Were you wrong about
- 17:21Speaker 8: South Carolina coming into the year? Were you wrong about
- 17:23Speaker 8: South Carolina weeks one and two and three? Or are
- 17:30Speaker 8: you did you not adequately evaluate vanderbremy that's I guess
- 17:35Speaker 8: those are the answers I want, because that's what drives
- 17:39Speaker 8: me nuts. If you thought a team was good enough
- 17:41Speaker 8: to be ranked preseason and then move up off one win.
- 17:46Speaker 8: Does one loss really necessitate taking them all the way out?
- 17:50Speaker 8: And to that point, if you have two losses, how
- 17:54Speaker 8: are you still in the top twenty five? And more importantly,
- 17:57Speaker 8: how are you ranked above a team that's three and zero.
- 18:00Speaker 8: I'm going to talk about the Golden Domers exactly, or
- 18:03Speaker 8: we can talk about the Golden Domers.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Oh no, But that's the thing because just to wrap
- 18:08Speaker 3: up when we're talking about Vanderbilt, like so is if
- 18:12Speaker 3: you think that there, yes, if you think South Carolina,
- 18:17Speaker 3: I saw him put porking on putting that up. If
- 18:19Speaker 3: you think South Carolina and I can take into consideration,
- 18:22Speaker 3: they have lost their star quarterback and they got it.
- 18:24Speaker 3: So if you think South Carolina is no longer a
- 18:27Speaker 3: top twenty five team, okay, I'll grant you that, because
- 18:29Speaker 3: they did lose their starting quarterback and just got beat thoroughly.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Even if Vanderbilt is now three and oh, there we go.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Even if Vanderbilt is now three and oh, who has
- 18:42Speaker 3: Vanderbilt beat exactly?
- 18:44Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 18:45Speaker 3: For that for them to not be the twentieth ranked
- 18:47Speaker 3: team in the country because they haven't played anybody either,
- 18:50Speaker 3: you were giving them credit for beating a team that
- 18:53Speaker 3: you no longer think is good.
- 18:54Speaker 8: And that's you know, and that's why I like when
- 18:57Speaker 8: we get towards the end of the year and we start,
- 19:01Speaker 8: even in the twelve team playoff system, you start jock,
- 19:05Speaker 8: you start trying to jockey in your arguments for like
- 19:07Speaker 8: teams nine through twelve, and you start talking about, well,
- 19:10Speaker 8: we had three ranked wins. Yeah, where are those teams
- 19:13Speaker 8: ranked where they're now? You know, just all of that
- 19:18Speaker 8: really becomes ultimately critical because I have, I mean, South Carolina.
- 19:24Speaker 8: Coming into this year, South Carolina was one of the
- 19:25Speaker 8: teams I was worried about a beating, and I'm still
- 19:28Speaker 8: not completely off of that perch. I don't know how
- 19:31Speaker 8: they're going to look with a new quarter with a
- 19:34Speaker 8: new quarterback, but I don't put it past shame being
- 19:37Speaker 8: to at least get things kind of back on track
- 19:39Speaker 8: at least at some point. But once now that you've
- 19:42Speaker 8: taken them out of the top twenty five, even if
- 19:45Speaker 8: we beat them, that's not we don't. We no longer
- 19:49Speaker 8: have a quality win against a ranked opponent because of
- 19:53Speaker 8: conceivably one loss against the team that you apparently didn't
- 19:57Speaker 8: evaluate effectively enough. Because now you have I'm ranked in
- 20:00Speaker 8: the top twenty.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Exactly, and so that'll be that for us. And again,
- 20:03Speaker 3: I obviously South Carolina was one of those games that's
- 20:07Speaker 3: very worried about. I'm always I cannot stand when we
- 20:10Speaker 3: play Auburn. Oh God, cannot stand when we play Auburn either.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Glad we've at least got a by going into that game,
- 20:17Speaker 3: but cannot stand when we play Auburn.
- 20:19Speaker 8: I like the I will tell you this. I like
- 20:21Speaker 8: the fact we were playing them early. Do not like
- 20:23Speaker 8: playing them late. Like I do like the fact we're
- 20:26Speaker 8: playing at home. I do not like the fact it's
- 20:29Speaker 8: a two thirty kick unless you know fingers crossed Max,
- 20:32Speaker 8: do your foodoo magic and get a nice fall front
- 20:35Speaker 8: to come through, because that, I mean, maybe that works
- 20:39Speaker 8: for our favor, but I know the the planes of
- 20:42Speaker 8: Auburn can get humid and sweaty and hot too, so
- 20:45Speaker 8: that they'll be used to playing in that. But yeah, that,
- 20:48Speaker 8: I mean, that's a game that can be very problematically.
- 20:50Speaker 3: And the reason why I bring that up is because
- 20:51Speaker 3: you know who wasn't ranked to start the season, Auburn,
- 20:54Speaker 3: know who's ranked now Auburn, and those are the things
- 20:56Speaker 3: like now it can help us, And I know you
- 20:58Speaker 3: mentioned that mentioned the the shiny Golden Domers of Notre Dame,
- 21:02Speaker 3: but like, yes, can they went out more than likely? Yes,
- 21:08Speaker 3: they absolutely can, and that'll put them at eight and
- 21:10Speaker 3: two and it'll they'll probably still be highly ranked. But
- 21:13Speaker 3: like right now, what is Notre Dame and nobody know?
- 21:18Speaker 3: Like they've they've they're zero and too. They had us
- 21:20Speaker 3: coming off of by so that was knock on we
- 21:23Speaker 3: I'm glad we took the victory with that, but.
- 21:25Speaker 8: Like, and I just want to say this as onside,
- 21:28Speaker 8: and I'm sure it's been covered plenty of times. Golden
- 21:31Speaker 8: Domers quick complaining about the holding at the end, because
- 21:34Speaker 8: you know what, those NBC four k ultra high DEFF
- 21:37Speaker 8: cameras caught on y'all's rushing touchdowns a whole bunch of
- 21:41Speaker 8: holding against y'all too, but that didn't get called, So
- 21:45Speaker 8: just just shut up about it. It's not an sec
- 21:47Speaker 8: conspiracy holding. I mean, I hate to say this, short
- 21:52Speaker 8: of pancake tackling now, holding is just so rarely called.
- 21:59Speaker 8: But your point, Notre Dame's remaining schedule, they're gonna be
- 22:06Speaker 8: playing a pathetic stand for Team USC which is currently
- 22:12Speaker 8: ranked hilariously one position behind them, but no telling if
- 22:16Speaker 8: USC will be ranked when that game comes around. Notre
- 22:19Speaker 8: Dame's path is pretty easy from this standpoint when you
- 22:22Speaker 8: look at their opponents, and I guess that's gonna also
- 22:26Speaker 8: kind of play into our quality win over them. One
- 22:30Speaker 8: more case that I want to bring up, and I
- 22:32Speaker 8: know we're about to come up on the commercial. Look
- 22:35Speaker 8: at Florida. Florida began the year ranked fifteen. It has
- 22:40Speaker 8: been they win Week one, and it's been virtually downhill since.
- 22:45Speaker 8: And they have Miami this week, which at the beginning
- 22:49Speaker 8: of the year looked like an important game. It can
- 22:51Speaker 8: still be a problematic game if nothing else, Miami is
- 22:54Speaker 8: playing a tough in state rival. But if MYAMMI runs
- 23:00Speaker 8: rough shot over the Gators, I mean, from this point forward,
- 23:06Speaker 8: any any winover Florida is not going to be a
- 23:08Speaker 8: feather in your cap, other than to say, well it's
- 23:11Speaker 8: an SEC win.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the only thing you'll be able to get
- 23:13Speaker 3: for it. And I'm sorry, I'm just looking back, and
- 23:14Speaker 3: I'm I shouldn't say that, because we obviously will need
- 23:17Speaker 3: some some quality wins as the season goes forward, as
- 23:21Speaker 3: we put our maroon caps on. But like Notre Like,
- 23:24Speaker 3: just looking at Notre Dame at zero and two and
- 23:29Speaker 3: ranked number twenty, like, what have they shown anybody to
- 23:34Speaker 3: warrant still being ranked in the top twenty five?
- 23:36Speaker 8: That it to me that's the truly baffling part, because
- 23:41Speaker 8: also look at the fact, you know, Clemson is one
- 23:45Speaker 8: and two and they're out at this point, I still believe,
- 23:54Speaker 8: I mean, and there's no argu in. I think even
- 23:56Speaker 8: the Notre Dame faithful would admit to it. They get
- 23:59Speaker 8: a bias based on them being.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Just being with the name that's on the front of
- 24:04Speaker 3: the I.
- 24:05Speaker 8: Mean, I'm looking at the remains the remainder of their
- 24:08Speaker 8: schedule right now, USC is the only ranked opponent, and frankly,
- 24:16Speaker 8: I don't see the I don't see Arkansas, Boise State,
- 24:18Speaker 8: NC State, Boston College, Navy, Pit, Syracuse or Stanford getting
- 24:22Speaker 8: ranked between now and now they playing.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I can't see a single one of those teams.
- 24:25Speaker 8: So Notre Dame could easily go ten and two having
- 24:28Speaker 8: defeated at best one ranked opponent, and they will be
- 24:32Speaker 8: able to slide in.
- 24:33Speaker 3: And who even knows where what USC will be.
- 24:37Speaker 8: That's my point, That's what I'm saying. They may be
- 24:39Speaker 8: ranked they may not be ranked.
- 24:40Speaker 3: By that point, just based on I don't know who
- 24:43Speaker 3: what USC schedule is going to look like as because
- 24:48Speaker 3: I mean, the the Big Ten has some brutal games
- 24:52Speaker 3: that for anybody that if you're playing anybody at the
- 24:54Speaker 3: top of the Big Ten.
- 24:57Speaker 8: It's let's see. I mean yeah, So USC has to
- 25:03Speaker 8: oh yeah, they have to play Michigan State, which by
- 25:05Speaker 8: the way, that kickoff is ten pm our time, eleven
- 25:10Speaker 8: pm Eastern.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 25:13Speaker 8: Then they have number nine Illinois, number twenty one Michigan,
- 25:18Speaker 8: and number six Oregon all still on their schedule.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Oregon is more than likely going to be a loss. Yeah,
- 25:23Speaker 3: I think Oregon is that good. The other two they
- 25:25Speaker 3: may win.
- 25:26Speaker 8: They may win. I mean it. I think this weekend
- 25:29Speaker 8: with Illinois and Indiana going up against each other, yeah,
- 25:32Speaker 8: I think that's gonna say a lot about that mid
- 25:34Speaker 8: tier in the Big Ten and kind of determine just
- 25:36Speaker 8: how many spots they may ultimately end up with based
- 25:38Speaker 8: on how many ranked opponents they're going to have.
- 25:40Speaker 3: We're going to take a break, come back, maybe talk

- 29:47Speaker 3: You buy Techaggs on his own.
- 30:16Speaker 8: The lights.
- 30:34Speaker 3: You like to say, rightfully, so for us music peaked in.
- 30:42Speaker 8: Officially. Officially, I say ninety six. But when you look
- 30:46Speaker 8: at when, especially when you look at the top one
- 30:51Speaker 8: ninety six, so many of those songs actually came out
- 30:53Speaker 8: in ninety five because of the way the chart system
- 30:57Speaker 8: worked back then.
- 31:00Speaker 3: The reason why I bring it up is because whether
- 31:02Speaker 3: it's ninety five or ninety six, the ramp up to
- 31:05Speaker 3: that also, oh is.
- 31:08Speaker 8: Just I've I skyright. I have argued nineteen ninety to
- 31:13Speaker 8: nineteen ninety six is a more transformative period in music
- 31:17Speaker 8: than the nineteen sixties. Are you with me, old people?
- 31:23Speaker 8: Because the thing about the sixties, well, yes, you have
- 31:28Speaker 8: the British invasion and the effect of the Beatles and
- 31:31Speaker 8: everything that comes from that style of songwriting. Look at
- 31:36Speaker 8: all those artists and yes, you can name a few
- 31:39Speaker 8: female artists, but it is largely men and is largely
- 31:43Speaker 8: rock oriented. You look at ninety to ninety six, it
- 31:47Speaker 8: is multiple genre and these are multi multiple genre genre.
- 31:51Speaker 8: It's men and it's women. It's it's rock music, it's
- 31:55Speaker 8: rap everything, it's hip hop, it's country, it's everything. To me,
- 31:58Speaker 8: that period of time, there is nothing better from from
- 32:02Speaker 8: a music standard back than that period.
- 32:04Speaker 3: That is when like grunge music started. That is Metallica's
- 32:07Speaker 3: Black album. That is like I forget some of the
- 32:10Speaker 3: other like just huge rock.
- 32:11Speaker 8: Out girl jam, like Red Hot Chili Peppers, I mean
- 32:14Speaker 8: Red Hot Chili Peppers struggle in the eighties. They do
- 32:19Speaker 8: Blood CeX, Sugar Magic in nineteen ninety, come out with
- 32:22Speaker 8: Under the Bridge, and they're able to endure multiple members
- 32:27Speaker 8: of their band having to go on drug rehaf during
- 32:29Speaker 8: the nineties and they still do scar tissue to finish
- 32:32Speaker 8: out ninety nine. Tell me, tell me just again, you
- 32:36Speaker 8: can I will. I love the music from the sixties,
- 32:40Speaker 8: I love the music from the seventies. I'm really I'm
- 32:44Speaker 8: showing my age now, really digging yacht rock more and
- 32:47Speaker 8: more seeing but there is no more transformative period of
- 32:52Speaker 8: time than nineteen nineties.
- 32:53Speaker 3: Nice and Jared and Night Joe because when we go
- 32:55Speaker 3: like we we we kind of lean and lean heavy
- 32:58Speaker 3: into hip hop and R and B from the nineties
- 32:59Speaker 3: because that's just I mean, that was a.
- 33:00Speaker 8: Huge but shout out to Magic.
- 33:02Speaker 6: No.
- 33:02Speaker 3: I was literally about to do that too, Like if
- 33:04Speaker 3: you were not listening to Magic ninety seven three, you
- 33:06Speaker 3: were missing out. But talking to Rob before we came
- 33:08Speaker 3: in here, he was like, I don't know if like
- 33:10Speaker 3: the buzz is still there. I'm like, one, I think
- 33:12Speaker 3: the buzz is still there because I hear people talking
- 33:14Speaker 3: about it. But also too, like if you were not
- 33:16Speaker 3: get onto some Magic ninety seven three, because that.
- 33:19Speaker 8: Is all, get off the streaming because all that's gonna
- 33:23Speaker 8: do is keep playing the same stuff over and over
- 33:25Speaker 8: and over again, because you have got to listen to
- 33:28Speaker 8: some traditional over the air radio that knows how to
- 33:32Speaker 8: program and play things you have not heard in a
- 33:36Speaker 8: long time before.
- 33:37Speaker 3: And even yes, that's the thing about it that really
- 33:40Speaker 3: gets into it.
- 33:41Speaker 13: Yeah, I run the Redder football games on Magic ninety
- 33:44Speaker 13: seven for three and I'll show up like an hour
- 33:46Speaker 13: early just to sit there.
- 33:47Speaker 3: There you go, Absolutely, that is awesome quickly for at
- 33:52Speaker 3: least for me, because.
- 33:53Speaker 8: I was about say, you got to check out.
- 33:54Speaker 3: I gotta go do my civic duty here in just
- 33:56Speaker 3: a little bit. But I did want to get into
- 33:58Speaker 3: a little bit of NFL with you and kind of
- 34:01Speaker 3: go over like how surprising in certain circumstances this season
- 34:05Speaker 3: has been with some of the team teams, including the Cowboys.
- 34:09Speaker 3: I'm I'm and everybody knows I am not I am
- 34:12Speaker 3: I'm and I'm not that I'm not a fan of
- 34:14Speaker 3: the Cowboys. I'm not a fan of Cowboys fans.
- 34:16Speaker 8: Right, So I took a lot of flak, or I
- 34:19Speaker 8: took some flak for what I put out there towards
- 34:23Speaker 8: the end of Sunday's game when the Cowboys defense, after
- 34:28Speaker 8: Dak was able to make a meaningful touchdown drive allows
- 34:33Speaker 8: Neighbors to just break again double covers and score a
- 34:38Speaker 8: touchdown there at the end. Granted, Aubrey was able to
- 34:41Speaker 8: kick a field goal taken in overtime, but it just
- 34:44Speaker 8: is like, if there's one thing you can't do at
- 34:47Speaker 8: that point, if that let him or any receiver get
- 34:52Speaker 8: behind you, Like I know, the only thing prevent defense
- 34:55Speaker 8: does is prevent you from winning the game. But in
- 34:57Speaker 8: the NFL, you put three on the front, you put
- 35:00Speaker 8: everyone deep back, and we may And this kind of
- 35:04Speaker 8: goes back to why was Russell Wilson, who looked terrible
- 35:08Speaker 8: in Week one, able to look like the Russell Wilson
- 35:12Speaker 8: of old against the Cowboys? There was no pass rush?
- 35:15Speaker 8: Why is there no pass rush? Jerry, you let your
- 35:20Speaker 8: key guy go to probably the one team that's going
- 35:23Speaker 8: to keep you from progressing in the playoffs at some
- 35:26Speaker 8: point if you're lucky enough to make the playoffs again
- 35:30Speaker 8: per your own documentary, Jerry, Oh, that was just so frustrating.
- 35:34Speaker 8: And I mean, granted, you have a you have a
- 35:37Speaker 8: leg in Aubrey that any team would kill.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Wow for a guy basically like coming off the street. Yeah, his,
- 35:44Speaker 3: I mean a soccer but not even.
- 35:45Speaker 8: A soccer player went through the USFL. I mean you
- 35:51Speaker 8: found value. Yes, I don't know if Jadavian Clowney is
- 35:56Speaker 8: going to be able to replace Mike Carson or Parsons,
- 36:01Speaker 8: but you got him on value, right. But no, if
- 36:06Speaker 8: you want to talk surprising, most surprising thing up to
- 36:08Speaker 8: this point, and we'll see how long it lasts Daniel
- 36:12Speaker 8: Jones in Indianapolis, because I mean he was destined for
- 36:17Speaker 8: backup duty, if not written off as as a bus
- 36:20Speaker 8: And I think he has the highest QBR rating in
- 36:23Speaker 8: the league.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Yes he does. And so here's the thing, and and
- 36:28Speaker 3: I think we've touched on this a couple of times,
- 36:29Speaker 3: but I know everybody else does as well. Of like
- 36:32Speaker 3: how one how quickly and not I mean quickly in
- 36:35Speaker 3: terms of NFL NFL time frames, teams can give up
- 36:39Speaker 3: on their quarterback, especially now when you're seeing whether it's
- 36:44Speaker 3: Baker Mayfield, whether it could be now Daniel Jones, whether
- 36:48Speaker 3: it's And I'm he was just in Minnesota last year
- 36:50Speaker 3: and now he's in Seattle, and I'm.
- 36:51Speaker 8: Oh, Sam, Sam Donald, Sam Donald, and.
- 36:54Speaker 3: You sing and that's that was Sam Donald's like fifteen. Yeah, now,
- 36:57Speaker 3: well the the Seahawks are now is fifteen. And he
- 37:00Speaker 3: bounced around a little bit.
- 37:01Speaker 8: I mean, well, all the hype about Minnesota going into
- 37:04Speaker 8: this year is based on what saying Donald did for
- 37:07Speaker 8: that last year because JJ McCarthy has played one good
- 37:10Speaker 8: quarter in two games, and Minnesota by all accounts, looks
- 37:14Speaker 8: like they will miss the playoffs. They just don't have anything.
- 37:17Speaker 8: They don't have it.
- 37:18Speaker 3: And so yeh, no, you're exactly right. Like Daniel Jones
- 37:20Speaker 3: has to be the surprise of the year. And I
- 37:24Speaker 3: saw but it's actually true when I saw them talking
- 37:26Speaker 3: about it one morning this week, of like, how how
- 37:29Speaker 3: can you as a general manager of the New York
- 37:32Speaker 3: Football Giants And I'm even leaving day Ball out of
- 37:35Speaker 3: this for a second, because they've got what they appear
- 37:37Speaker 3: to be the quarterback that they want. They want to
- 37:40Speaker 3: bring him along and you don't want to do what
- 37:42Speaker 3: like the Bears do and ruin him by bringing in
- 37:45Speaker 3: another cup. But how can you be the general manager
- 37:47Speaker 3: of the New York Football Giants and let Saquon Barkley
- 37:50Speaker 3: walk and then give all that money to Daniel Jones,
- 37:54Speaker 3: to then cut him, to then see him leave and
- 37:56Speaker 3: now two years later he has become everything that you
- 38:00Speaker 3: thought he was going to be.
- 38:02Speaker 8: Well I mean, I mean, and we talk about it
- 38:06Speaker 8: another case and unfortunately for him, Cincinnati, I mean, how
- 38:14Speaker 8: how can you not protect your who you're paying the most,
- 38:18Speaker 8: your most prized possession and he's I mean out three months.
- 38:22Speaker 8: And by the way, we need to come up with
- 38:24Speaker 8: a new name for Turfy so because it doesn't sound bad,
- 38:27Speaker 8: but it is. It's going to require certain to be
- 38:29Speaker 8: out for three months. I mean, I saw the post.
- 38:34Speaker 8: There's what like five million obast people in America and
- 38:37Speaker 8: Cincinnati can't find five who can who can protect protect?
- 38:41Speaker 8: But you know, I think that goes back to the
- 38:44Speaker 8: greater conversation not just with Jerry and Dallas, but you know,
- 38:48Speaker 8: all the the general managers or vps of operations for
- 38:51Speaker 8: these football program organizations. It is not so much about
- 38:56Speaker 8: just that star player. It's about the people you put
- 38:59Speaker 8: around on him and how they work together, and how
- 39:02Speaker 8: they function together and allows the coach to have the
- 39:05Speaker 8: most capability. The big argument today is, how is this
- 39:10Speaker 8: Mike McDaniel's final game coaching the Miami Dolphins because of
- 39:15Speaker 8: what is expected to happen against the Buffalo Bills.
- 39:17Speaker 3: Oh, they're going to get trounced.
- 39:18Speaker 8: They will get they will, by all accounts, will get trounce.
- 39:21Speaker 8: How much of this falls on McDaniel or how much
- 39:23Speaker 8: of this falls on the GM for Miami? And I'm
- 39:26Speaker 8: blanking on his name right now, but he is the
- 39:28Speaker 8: longest tenured GM in the NFL to have never made
- 39:31Speaker 8: the playoffs at nine years. At what point do you
- 39:35Speaker 8: say it's not who's coaching the team, it's who's bringing
- 39:39Speaker 8: in the talent, because Miami has shown glimmers of greatness
- 39:42Speaker 8: and then they have shown kind of what we've seen
- 39:45Speaker 8: this year in ineptitude. And does that really all fall
- 39:48Speaker 8: on the coach or does it fall in the fact
- 39:50Speaker 8: that he's just working with what you've provided with him, which, oh,
- 39:53Speaker 8: by the way, you've allowed that defense to be completely
- 39:56Speaker 8: decimated by trading away all your valuable talent.
- 40:00Speaker 3: We've got the Rangers report coming up next, and then
- 40:03Speaker 3: Jared is going to take you home. I thank him
- 40:05Speaker 3: for being able to handle that last segment by himself.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Like I said, I gotta go do my civic duty.
- 40:10Speaker 8: If they're we appreciate you.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Yes, if you want to listen to a whole lot
- 40:13Speaker 3: of fun, you can turn into Channel nineteen for those
- 40:15Speaker 3: of you on Suddenly.
- 40:18Speaker 8: A lot of us did that last Thursday, Yes, until midnight.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Yes, yes, a lot of you did. There are a
- 40:24Speaker 3: lot of speakers on that. But yeah, you're listening to
- 40:26Speaker 3: Chip Higher Sports are taken over by Jason and Jarrett

- 40:32Speaker 14: It was after a hailstorm a few years back. I
- 40:34Speaker 14: needed a new roof. Yeah, I shopped around and then
- 40:36Speaker 14: I found Schorlty Roofing, and boy, I'm glad I did.
- 40:39Speaker 14: The folks, said Shulty, guided me every step of the way.
- 40:42Speaker 14: They showed me my options. They told me what my
- 40:44Speaker 14: out of pocket cost would be after insurance. They took
- 40:47Speaker 14: the complication out of an otherwise very stressful situation. They
- 40:50Speaker 14: took off the damage roof, put on the new roof,
- 40:53Speaker 14: did all the clean up, and I had my new
- 40:54Speaker 14: roof in one day.
- 41:03Speaker 15: I'm Jen Nelson with your Texas Rangers report. The Rangers
- 41:06Speaker 15: got swept by Houston last night and now need some
- 41:09Speaker 15: help if there's gonna be a chance to sneak into October.
- 41:12Speaker 15: Details coming up next.

- 41:45Speaker 15: Just like the first two games of the series, Houston
- 41:48Speaker 15: got the offense started in the first inning with a
- 41:50Speaker 15: basis loaded single from Jiner Diaz driving into runs. Texas
- 41:54Speaker 15: would fight back quickly to tie it in the top
- 41:56Speaker 15: of the second with an RBI double from Josh Young
- 41:59Speaker 15: and an RBA single from Cody Freeman. Then Houston activated
- 42:03Speaker 15: the long ball in the third inning, with Josey l.
- 42:05Speaker 15: Tuovy his twenty fifth of the year, putting the Astros
- 42:08Speaker 15: in front again three to two. Then the final score
- 42:11Speaker 15: of the night would be in the fifth as Jeremy
- 42:12Speaker 15: Pinya joined the home run party with a three hundred
- 42:15Speaker 15: and forty three footer, putting the score at five to two.
- 42:18Speaker 15: The Astros defense would take care of the rest. Now,
- 42:21Speaker 15: the Rangers will need a good bit of help from
- 42:23Speaker 15: teams facing the Red Sox, but Texas in the meantime
- 42:26Speaker 15: needs to take care of business in the remaining nine games.
- 42:29Speaker 15: First with your Texas Rangers reports, I'm Jet Nelson.

- 44:04Speaker 8: I know it was kind of mean to save the

- 44:09Speaker 13: Yeah, he's definitely punging the air right now.
- 44:11Speaker 8: Yeah, but I knew he would at least appreciate what
- 44:15Speaker 8: was playing during the show, and maybe this will at
- 44:18Speaker 8: least get him over to city Hall in a little
- 44:21Speaker 8: bit better mood. But I'm fairly certain P and Z
- 44:26Speaker 8: meeting tonight will not be as near as contentious as
- 44:29Speaker 8: the city council meeting was last Thursday. Chip powered Sports
- 44:32Speaker 8: Talk on the Zone eleven to fifty A ninety three

- 44:51Speaker 8: that's what they're calling whatever it's called. Basically, it is
- 44:55Speaker 8: Maroon v. Purple. It is the Tigers versus the Cougars.
- 44:59Speaker 8: It is a a big time football game early in
- 45:02Speaker 8: the season for both of the colle station high schools.
- 45:07Speaker 8: Expected to sell out crowd. All tickets have been sold.
- 45:09Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 45:10Speaker 8: I'm sure they're going to try and figure out a
- 45:11Speaker 8: way to do some standing room. It's going to be
- 45:14Speaker 8: crazy there at the corner of Baron and Victoria, but
- 45:17Speaker 8: it should be a good game. If you can't be there,
- 45:20Speaker 8: be sure to listen to the WTAW sixteen to twenty
- 45:25Speaker 8: for the broadcast, or listen to any of the other
- 45:29Speaker 8: high school football games that will be broadcast, including my
- 45:32Speaker 8: partner in crime right here will be doing Navasota tomorrow night.
- 45:36Speaker 13: I'm rudder, rudder, Sorry sorry, Magic ninety seven three has rudder.
- 45:40Speaker 13: And for the college station broadcast of the A and
- 45:43Speaker 13: M Consolidated College station game, college stations broadcast is on
- 45:46Speaker 13: Maverick one hundred point nine, one hundred point nine. All right,
- 45:48Speaker 13: and we got Brian here on the zone. But that's Saturday.
- 45:52Speaker 8: Actually that is okay, who do they have Saturday?
- 45:56Speaker 13: I'm running that one too.
- 45:58Speaker 8: There you go, all right, just to kind of put
- 46:02Speaker 8: a bow on NFL, and then we're gonna talk some entertainment,
- 46:05Speaker 8: uh some interesting matchups this week. We're kind of gonna
- 46:08Speaker 8: we're gonna start to get some divisional matchups to kind
- 46:12Speaker 8: of setup where we may uh may see teams kind
- 46:15Speaker 8: of jocking for those potential playoff positions. I will say this,
- 46:23Speaker 8: when you look at the TV windows, the one o'clock
- 46:27Speaker 8: window once again just is not that attractive.
- 46:32Speaker 9: Uh.
- 46:32Speaker 8: Probably the the the game that most people will be
- 46:35Speaker 8: watching and unfortunately, I think in a good chunk of
- 46:39Speaker 8: the country it's gonna be blacked out because of other
- 46:42Speaker 8: games that are being played. Is uh the Los Angeles
- 46:45Speaker 8: Rams against the Philadelphia Eagles, arguably probably two of the
- 46:48Speaker 8: better teams in the NFC. Uh. Philadelphia that uh you
- 46:54Speaker 8: know that that opening game against Dallas, Man that looked
- 46:57Speaker 8: like we were headed for a real shootout until we
- 47:00Speaker 8: got the lightning delay. And then after that both teams
- 47:04Speaker 8: just came out completely flat. Didn't do it. Neither neither
- 47:07Speaker 8: team was able to score from that point forward.
- 47:09Speaker 3: Uh.
- 47:09Speaker 8: But Philadelphia looked really good in Week two, and so
- 47:13Speaker 8: this is an interesting It's an interesting matchup, like I said,
- 47:15Speaker 8: because these are probably two of the top contenders for
- 47:18Speaker 8: the NFC when you start talking about getting to the
- 47:21Speaker 8: playoffs and getting getting to the super Bowl. On the
- 47:24Speaker 8: AFC side, a lot a lot of more divisional matchups
- 47:30Speaker 8: that are gonna play into divisional seeding, but nothing all
- 47:34Speaker 8: that great. We're gonna get Houston v. Jacksonville, which I
- 47:38Speaker 8: hate to say this. I'm Houston's defense plays really well
- 47:44Speaker 8: and I have such high hopes for CJ. Stroud, But man,
- 47:48Speaker 8: that is a painful offense. To watch. You you lose
- 47:54Speaker 8: your two best guards in the offseason, you wait forever
- 47:57Speaker 8: to try and replace some you end up replacing them
- 47:59Speaker 8: kind of with bottom of the barrel and you're kind
- 48:01Speaker 8: of hopeful that they're just there kind of his backup,
- 48:04Speaker 8: and then they end up being the starters. But man,
- 48:06Speaker 8: it's it's just not it's not pleasant to watch Houston.
- 48:11Speaker 8: I have to say, I really go I default to
- 48:14Speaker 8: the red zone in that one that noon or in
- 48:18Speaker 8: the Eastern time zone the one o'clock block, because so
- 48:21Speaker 8: many of the matchups thus far, except for this past
- 48:25Speaker 8: week when you had Dallas New York, and some of
- 48:27Speaker 8: the other games just aren't that aren't that intriguing For
- 48:32Speaker 8: the most part, I really just want to see who
- 48:34Speaker 8: scores well.
- 48:35Speaker 13: Bengals Vikings is intriguing, but for the wrong reason.
- 48:37Speaker 8: Exactly, h I know, I mean, God, just so Joe Burrow,
- 48:43Speaker 8: it's his sixth year in the league. Effectively he's going
- 48:47Speaker 8: to be out for the year. I mean, I think
- 48:50Speaker 8: best case scenarios, he's back by December. When you look
- 48:53Speaker 8: at it, he has spent fifty percent of his career
- 48:56Speaker 8: in the By that point in time, he will have
- 48:58Speaker 8: spent fifty percent of his career in the NFL injured
- 49:01Speaker 8: and not playing. And this is a truly generational talent.
- 49:06Speaker 8: We saw what he could do at LSU. We saw
- 49:08Speaker 8: him take Cincinnati all the way to the to the
- 49:11Speaker 8: super Bowl. He has the ability to be a transformative quarterback.
- 49:16Speaker 8: But Cincinnati, for whatever reason, and I know it's a
- 49:19Speaker 8: salary cap sport, just has not put the protection around
- 49:22Speaker 8: him because he has the weapons and their defense is
- 49:25Speaker 8: pretty good. That's that's part what kept him in the game.
- 49:29Speaker 3: Uh.
- 49:29Speaker 8: But but yeah, this this matchup with Cincinnati Minnesota, you're
- 49:33Speaker 8: you're kind of watching for all the wrong reasons in Minnesota.
- 49:37Speaker 8: At this point in time, Minnesota Minnesota is only a
- 49:39Speaker 8: two and a half point favorite as the home team.
- 49:41Speaker 8: So that basically that that is a that's a washer
- 49:43Speaker 8: right there. The late game.
- 49:48Speaker 13: Uh, the wouldn't it be hilarious game?
- 49:50Speaker 8: Yes? Oh my goodness. Uh. I don't think when NBC
- 50:01Speaker 8: in the NFL were scheduling games that they think they
- 50:04Speaker 8: would have two zero in two opponents playing each other
- 50:08Speaker 8: in primetime on Sunday. But that's literally what we have
- 50:11Speaker 8: with Kansas City and the New York Football Giants.
- 50:15Speaker 13: I'm ready to watch Russ just torch some Chiefs.
- 50:18Speaker 8: I think he if he's able to do what he
- 50:21Speaker 8: was able to do against Dallas, and those defenses are
- 50:24Speaker 8: fairly equivalent. When you look at him, it could be
- 50:27Speaker 8: a long day. And I'm not saying by no means,
- 50:29Speaker 8: By no means, am I saying Patrick Mahomes is washed.
- 50:32Speaker 8: He's not. But it's very apparent that without the weapons
- 50:36Speaker 8: that he previously had, he's not able to do what
- 50:39Speaker 8: he was able to do. He does not have a
- 50:41Speaker 8: running game to support him. Travis Kelcey, I'm not saying
- 50:44Speaker 8: he's distracted, but he's Travis Kelcey is older than Gronk
- 50:48Speaker 8: was when Gronk retired for the first time.
- 50:52Speaker 3: Wow.
- 50:52Speaker 8: And so it's gonna be interesting to see. I mean,
- 50:55Speaker 8: Kansas City. We were thinking the AFC West was actually
- 50:59Speaker 8: gonna be the hardest. Right now it looks like the
- 51:01Speaker 8: LA Chargers may be that the only competition the AFC
- 51:03Speaker 8: West because the Raiders are not looking good. Denver's not
- 51:06Speaker 8: looking all that good. So it may be a two
- 51:08Speaker 8: horse race between Kansas City and the Chargers to see
- 51:12Speaker 8: who comes out of that.
- 51:13Speaker 13: And Mahomes is leading the Chiefs and rushing yards so
- 51:15Speaker 13: I think on.
- 51:16Speaker 8: Them like that, that is not a that's not a
- 51:18Speaker 8: good stat Yeah, Monday. I think Monday's game is the
- 51:22Speaker 8: game to watch. And props to ESPN forgetting this one.
- 51:27Speaker 8: Detroit Baltimore because Detroit coming off the huge win against
- 51:31Speaker 8: Chicago putting up fifty. Dan Campbell's showing it's not you know,
- 51:35Speaker 8: without my coordinators, I'm not this is not going to
- 51:38Speaker 8: be a throwaway year. And then Baltimore definitely needing to
- 51:43Speaker 8: step up and show that they can win if they
- 51:47Speaker 8: get in front, win with a lead, because that that's
- 51:49Speaker 8: kind of been the thing going against them. Uh, that's
- 51:52Speaker 8: gonna be that.
- 51:53Speaker 3: That, to me, is.
- 51:54Speaker 8: Probably the game of Week three, other than kind of
- 51:59Speaker 8: the the Siko's committee choices about seeing what's gonna happen.
- 52:04Speaker 8: All right, real quick, gonna talk to Emmys. And the
- 52:08Speaker 8: reason I'm able to talk about the Emmys is Sunday
- 52:10Speaker 8: Nights game between Atlanta and Minnesota just got so unwatchable.
- 52:14Speaker 8: It's like I'm gonna flip over and see what's going
- 52:16Speaker 8: on here. Jason and I talked during the summer about
- 52:22Speaker 8: and Or, and we had such high hopes about and
- 52:26Speaker 8: Or's success because of how good this season two was
- 52:30Speaker 8: and we really when the Emmy nominations came out and no,
- 52:35Speaker 8: none of the primary cast got acting nods. I was
- 52:41Speaker 8: probably we were both disappointed, but I was a little
- 52:43Speaker 8: more angry about it because I was thinking, at the
- 52:45Speaker 8: very least Gwin Avieve should have gotten a Supporting Actress
- 52:49Speaker 8: nomination for what she did this year. Thankfully, it did
- 52:54Speaker 8: win Best Writing. I personally thought it should have won
- 52:59Speaker 8: Best Drama, not because I'm a Star Wars nerd, but
- 53:02Speaker 8: because if you look at the ambition this season took.
- 53:07Speaker 8: The only show in recent memory that I can think
- 53:10Speaker 8: of that compares is seasons one through five of Game
- 53:13Speaker 8: of Thrones, and that show was able to win Best
- 53:17Speaker 8: Drama every year, even when their individual actors didn't necessarily
- 53:20Speaker 8: win the acting categories. And Or did that, and I
- 53:23Speaker 8: just I firmly believe because it was a Star Wars property,
- 53:27Speaker 8: voters opted to go with the other dramas, which, by
- 53:33Speaker 8: the way, I watched the Pit. Pit's an amazing show.
- 53:35Speaker 8: It's a fantastic show. To me, It's what Er was
- 53:39Speaker 8: early on, but even better. I just like I say,
- 53:44Speaker 8: knowing that this was the last season of van Or,
- 53:47Speaker 8: because there is no season three and or gets on
- 53:52Speaker 8: the ship and that's what starts Rogue one. So we
- 53:54Speaker 8: know how this story ends over the next I believe
- 53:58Speaker 8: it's four days in the Star Wars timeline. Would I
- 54:02Speaker 8: really would have liked to have seen that get the
- 54:05Speaker 8: recognition to deserve for the ambition that it took this year.
- 54:08Speaker 8: From a comedy standpoint, it was no shocker that The
- 54:12Speaker 8: Studio won. Studio was a hilarious show, and it really
- 54:19Speaker 8: appealed to all the Emmy voters because they're in Hollywood,
- 54:23Speaker 8: so they get all the inside jokes, I mean, and
- 54:25Speaker 8: that's one of the reasons why I think it had
- 54:27Speaker 8: the most nominations and had the most wins for any comedy.
- 54:33Speaker 8: Interestingly enough, The Bear, which has kind of been the
- 54:37Speaker 8: darling in the comedy category despite the fact it's clearly
- 54:40Speaker 8: not a comedy, was completely shut out this year. And
- 54:45Speaker 8: I actually thought this season season four was much stronger
- 54:48Speaker 8: than season three, so to me, that was also kind
- 54:51Speaker 8: of disappointing that it should have been in the drama category. Again,
- 54:55Speaker 8: I don't know why it gets put in the comedy category,
- 54:57Speaker 8: but to get completely shut out was kind of unfortunate.
- 55:01Speaker 8: But again, the Studio was just too big of a
- 55:05Speaker 8: monster comedy hit for anything to usurp. I will say this,
- 55:11Speaker 8: I fully expected The Penguin to like sweep the limited
- 55:14Speaker 8: series category just because of how ambitious it was the
- 55:18Speaker 8: acting Colin Ferrell, you know, wearing all that makeup and
- 55:23Speaker 8: you can't even tell that's who is under all of
- 55:25Speaker 8: that to only pick up two awards. And admittedly I
- 55:30Speaker 8: have not seen adolescents. I will be watching it now
- 55:33Speaker 8: just to see how good it is. But I really
- 55:36Speaker 8: thought The Penguin would would would fare better this year
- 55:40Speaker 8: in that. But overall, nothing really surprising from from a
- 55:45Speaker 8: winner standpoint, other than the fact that the Pit was
- 55:47Speaker 8: able to take the major act so many of the
- 55:51Speaker 8: major acting categories. Know a Wiley finally getting his his Emmy,
- 55:56Speaker 8: and if you watched him in the Pit, I mean
