So, we've talked about weather before—sunny, rainy, windy. But today, let's focus on temperature. Luna: Oh, hot and cold! That's perfect. It's been so hot lately. Lucas: Exactly. So the word for 'hot' in Cantonese is 熱. Repeat after me: 熱. Luna: 熱. Lucas: Good. And if something is very hot, we say 好熱. So 'very hot' is 好熱. Luna: 好熱. Lucas: Right. Now, 'cold' is 凍. Just 凍. Luna: 凍. Lucas: And 'very cold' is 好凍. Luna: 好凍. So if I touch ice, I can say 好凍. Lucas: Exactly! Let's try a full sentence. Say 'The coffee is very hot.' In Cantonese: 杯咖啡好熱. Luna: 杯咖啡好熱. Lucas: Perfect. Now, 'The water is very cold' — 杯水好凍. Luna: 杯水好凍. That's easy. Lucas: We also have words for 'warm' and 'cool'. 'Warm' is 暖. Luna: 暖. Lucas: And 'cool' is 涼. Luna: 涼. So I can say 杯水好涼 for 'The water is cool'. Lucas: Yes! And 暖 for warm water — 杯水好暖. Luna: 杯水好暖. Got it. Lucas: Let's practice a little dialogue. Imagine we're at a cafe. I say: 杯咖啡好熱. What do you say? Luna: Umm... 杯水好凍? Lucas: Perfect. Or you could say 杯水好涼 if it's just cool. Luna: Right, 杯水好涼. Lucas: Now, if you want to describe the weather, you can say 今日好熱 for 'Today is very hot'. Luna: 今日好熱. Lucas: And 今日好凍 for 'Today is very cold'. Luna: 今日好凍. I can use that in winter. Lucas: Exactly.
