- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today I want to read you a quote from Sigmund Freud.
- 0:33The only person with whom you have to compare yourself is you
- 0:38in the past. Oh, that's a good one, right?
- 0:41The only person with whom you have to compare yourself is you.
- 0:45In the past, I couldn't agree with this more.
- 0:49I couldn't say how much I've said this to clients.
- 0:53You are only competing with yourself.
- 0:56There's nobody else that you are really competing with in the
- 0:58theory of competition. I just don't believe in it.
- 1:01I I seriously don't believe in it.
- 1:03You are. You have to just be better than
- 1:05yourself every bit of the time that you're working on it.
- 1:08And then all of a sudden everything kind of falls into
- 1:11place. People often will use this and
- 1:15they think that they're constantly comparing themselves
- 1:18to someone else, but they don't have the same factors.
- 1:21And when you know that the theory of the butterfly, you
- 1:23know butterfly effect and how one small thing changes
- 1:26everything, you start to question, well, how can I
- 1:28possibly compare myself? Like I don't compare my the way
- 1:32I take care of my chickens to other people.
- 1:34I might look at what they're doing to try to learn from it,
- 1:36but I don't beat myself up for things.
- 1:39Whether it's my garden, the flowers, the way I teach my
- 1:42clients, whatever I do, I am comparing myself to myself and
- 1:46saying am I getting better in this process?
- 1:48Am I learning? Am I growing?
- 1:50Am I making strides in the direction that I choose to go?
- 1:55And by recognizing that we have this, this really unique
- 2:00situation within ourselves to not compare like that that way
- 2:06by not comparing to other people, we save ourselves a
- 2:09great deal of strife and pain by doing so.
- 2:12Because other people are are never, ever, ever going to be
- 2:18like us. Never, no matter how hard they
- 2:20try. I mean, we know the fact of
- 2:22people who have twins or triplets or quadruplets or
- 2:24whatever number of children they have all at the same time, and
- 2:27they're genetically identical, but they're not the same people
- 2:30and they don't have the same experiences or the same gifts.
- 2:33And we all look at that and go, how is that possible?
- 2:35They'll have similarities, but definitely not the same.
- 2:39I went to school with twins and they were definitely different
- 2:43people, definitely different people and remain to be
- 2:47different people. I think the hardest part for us
- 2:51is recognizing that we look outside of ourselves.
- 2:56You know, our eyes are constantly looking outside of
- 2:59ourselves. We're constantly seeing and
- 3:01taking in the world. Our ears are constantly hearing
- 3:04things and we're taking in things.
- 3:06And it is, it is a it's human nature to look and say wow, I
- 3:13wish I was him or I wish I was her.
- 3:16I wish I was that person. But you know, the the most
- 3:21difficult thing to recognize is you could never be that person
- 3:25because you were meant to be the you that you are.
- 3:28And when you realize that you could be completely different or
- 3:32you realize that you could be, you know they have a different
- 3:35trajectory, that you have a completely different path.
- 3:38And that you're supposed to actualize your path and it it
- 3:42will not compare or overlap with someone else's path and you stop
- 3:48comparing yourself to those people, then you can start
- 3:50working on am I doing better than I did the day before?
- 3:54Am I doing better than I did the week before?
- 3:56Am I aligned with what I want to feel every day?
- 4:01Am I using my tools to get me to that place.
- 4:04Then things start to shift. You know, I had a a a young girl
- 4:08that I was talking to and she wants to be a singer.
- 4:11And she made it a made a comment to me about how she would love
- 4:17to be Taylor Swift. And I was like, oh, I I think
- 4:20you have to be careful with what you wish for when you say those
- 4:22things because we we don't know. I mean, yes, Taylor seems like
- 4:26an absolutely beautiful, wonderful life on the outside,
- 4:29but we don't really know what she goes through and we don't
- 4:31understand what's happening. And Taylor's life is Taylor's
- 4:35life. And you wouldn't want to live
- 4:36Taylor's life. You want to live your own life.
- 4:38She said, well, I will never get there.
- 4:40And I'm like, well, that's the problem.
- 4:42See, Taylor never questioned, or if she did question it.
- 4:45And having never spoken to her personally, I can't tell if she
- 4:48never questioned herself. But I'm, I'm guessing from her
- 4:50music, she questions herself a lot.
- 4:53And in her path of questioning herself, you know what she did?
- 4:58She did something really great. She just kept going, She
- 5:01questioned and she kept going. She didn't give up.
- 5:03She just questioned and she kept going.
- 5:05And that's what I told the girl. I said, do you think she
- 5:07questioned herself? Yes.
- 5:08Do you think she kept going? Yes, absolutely.
- 5:10And because she kept going and she didn't stop and she kept
- 5:13going and she didn't stop, look where she is now.
- 5:16So if you want to be using her as an example of what can happen
- 5:20when you follow the path, that's a great thing to do.
- 5:24And that's what I suggest for everybody.
- 5:26There's no comparing, but you can use it as a suggestion of
- 5:30like, look what happens when you do the work.
- 5:32OK, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I will see you
- 5:35tomorrow. Bye.
