- 0:04S1: Device is connected successfully.
- 0:07S2: Jay and dunk.
- 0:11S3: Are 3:00 on the dot. Tuesday have a short week.
- 0:14S3: Jay and dunk ready to drive you home. Good afternoon
- 0:16S3: and welcome on into Rock drive, baby.
- 0:18S4: It is time to bring out the coin of Destiny,
- 0:21S4: the famed coin of Destiny. The $1 million coin that
- 0:24S4: we had minted with our own faces on it. So
- 0:26S4: if you're at a crossroads in life and you need
- 0:28S4: some help making a decision, put it to the coin
- 0:31S4: or put it to the coin. Otherwise known as a
- 0:34S4: P I, take.
- 0:35S3: Your coin and then send your scenario off to three, five, two, zero.
- 0:39S3: Get them through to us. Uh, I also this hour
- 0:41S3: I want to cover off the creepy doll collection that
- 0:44S3: is for sale on Facebook Marketplace pick up only, which
- 0:49S3: is really concerning. Somebody's wife's gone out of hand knitting
- 0:55S3: these dolls and other dolls ever.
- 0:58S4: Um, we're not far away from Movember kicking off, and
- 1:01S4: there is a baby who wants to be in the
- 1:02S4: frame for the man of Movember.
- 1:05S3: Oh, yeah. Born with a moustache.
- 1:06S4: Yeah. Well.
- 1:08S3: How good is that? Some people can't grow them when
- 1:11S3: they're 50.
- 1:11S4: It's just like those old Sea Lords ads or whatever
- 1:13S4: they used to be. Just babies. Fishermen.
- 1:16S5: Get that link in the show notes.
- 1:19S6: Is this my guy?
- 1:20S5: Cheers to heartland chips. Extreme crunch experience. More crunch than
- 1:24S5: a learner driver and a manual.
- 1:26S3: More crunch than a burnt sausage at a barbecue. You
- 1:28S3: supply these bad boys to win on Friday. You can
- 1:31S3: text smoko, send it off to 3520. I would like
- 1:34S3: to highlight Alexander the Great Volkanovski and his outstanding fight
- 1:39S3: over the weekend. We were talking 333.
- 1:42S4: We were talking about it on Thursday, how this was
- 1:44S4: going to be a pretty big test. Oh mate, he
- 1:45S4: was fighting was 20 zero and was, you know, seen
- 1:50S4: and touted as the next big up and comer.
- 1:52S3: So turns out that didn't matter.
- 1:55S7: He looks busted open. Oh yeah. He's cut. Both sides here. No.
- 2:18S3: More crowd noise and more cheering than commentator in that
- 2:20S3: particular clip. But, um. Yeah. Crowd going absolutely berserk. He
- 2:24S3: defended his featherweight world title and now has more wins
- 2:27S3: than Jose. Uh oh. Um, uh, when it comes to
- 2:31S3: defending the featherweight belt, which is amazing.
- 2:33S4: He absolutely pissed him out too. Like he just looked like.
- 2:38S3: TKO second round.
- 2:39S4: But he said it was it was his missus birthday.
- 2:41S4: So he was like, I'll wrap it up early, babe.
- 2:42S4: So you don't have to stress too much.
- 2:44S3: How's this though? So this is even more amazing. He
- 2:47S3: was real crook.
- 2:49S8: I mean, yeah, it's, uh, it's all good. It's, um,
- 2:52S8: a part of the game, a part of the challenges
- 2:54S8: that I like. Anyway, you know what I mean? Like, uh,
- 2:56S8: it was funny. I started getting sick. I was like, oh, well,
- 2:59S8: at least, uh, you know, it would have been too
- 3:01S8: easy if I wasn't sick. You know, again, I'm in.
- 3:04S8: No matter what hurdles are in front of me or
- 3:07S8: what challenges come my way. Um, I'm at a stage
- 3:11S8: in my career that this excites me. Like when, you know,
- 3:14S8: when I get injuries and all that and I've got
- 3:15S8: to fight through them. I don't know why it just it,
- 3:17S8: it makes the story better, but I'll save them for documentaries.
- 3:21S8: Someone once said, adversity is a privilege. Exactly. And, uh,
- 3:24S8: it is because, uh, you know, people are going to
- 3:26S8: remember that, you know, they're the stories, you know, that's
- 3:28S8: the stuff that I'm talking about with us when we're,
- 3:32S8: you know, a lot of people want to talk about
- 3:34S8: defenses and all that. And I'm like, I don't care
- 3:36S8: about that. I feel like the, the overcoming challenges is
- 3:39S8: what really, um, is what really what people want to
- 3:43S8: know and what people will talk about, you know, I
- 3:45S8: think they're, they're cooler stories.
- 3:47S4: He is, he is a bad, bad man.
- 3:49S3: Just some of his nutritional stats in the lead up
- 3:51S3: to the fight. I've read these over the weekend. I
- 3:53S3: was like, Holy heck. Uh, so from this is the
- 3:57S3: entire fight camp 270 main meals consumed, all on the plan.
- 4:02S3: No cheat meals. 110 pre-training meals consumed um for the
- 4:07S3: fight camp. All to plan 140 snacks consumed. All on
- 4:11S3: plan the leanest they've ever been in a fight camp.
- 4:14S3: The best weight they've ever started in a fight week,
- 4:17S3: the best performance numbers in the gym. And it just
- 4:19S3: goes on to say, when consistency meets hard work, you
- 4:22S3: get a goat. And there's a reason why he'll be
- 4:23S3: a Hall of Famer one day. Yeah, he just does
- 4:25S3: not miss.
- 4:26S4: He he must be up for it now. Like he's
- 4:30S4: in the frame. They just need to park him before
- 4:32S4: he can Hall of Famer.
- 4:33S5: Thanks for listening. Big whoop.
- 4:34S3: Now, uh, if you just started reading it should we
- 4:38S3: let Jay read this? If you read through the whole thing.
- 4:40S3: So there's a bloke, uh, who's Councillor Rohan Batley, and
- 4:44S3: he is the husband of a wife who's taught herself
- 4:46S3: how to do knitting.
- 4:48S4: So they're not particularly bad. But he writes this. My
- 4:51S4: wife Lola will be selling her crocheted dolls in the
- 4:54S4: precinct this Saturday. All proceeds to the drop in centre.
- 4:58S4: For God's sake, please buy one. She's made 600 of
- 5:01S4: the bloody things. They're all over the house. Every time
- 5:03S4: I open the airing cupboard, it's like being attacked by Chucky.
- 5:07S3: That's so.
- 5:08S4: Creepy. Yeah. They are. It's a. Yeah, they.
- 5:11S3: Someone commented saying, Jesus, imagine having one of those staring
- 5:14S3: at you all day. And he goes, I don't have
- 5:15S3: to imagine, Simon. I'm surrounded by the willing bastards every
- 5:19S3: day at night. Open the fridge. Last night one was
- 5:21S3: sitting in the salad crisper.
- 5:27S4: Oh my gosh, it's so good.
- 5:29S3: Um, actually, we were, um, at a farm over the weekend,
- 5:32S3: one of our mates farms, and I was showing the
- 5:34S3: wee fella, my five year old, where the toilet was.
- 5:37S3: And then so I waited for him to do his business.
- 5:40S3: And then we were walking back out and he looked
- 5:42S3: into the bedroom there and he goes, oh, I'm not
- 5:45S3: okay with that. And I was like, what's that? And
- 5:47S3: he goes, it's the eyes. They're a bit creepy. And
- 5:49S3: then he just walked off and I looked in and
- 5:51S3: it was those old dolls with the blinking eyes. Oh yeah. He. Oh,
- 5:55S3: I'm not okay with the eyes. The eyes are a
- 5:58S3: bit creepy.
- 5:59S4: Is anybody still running a doll collection? At what stage
- 6:03S4: are you? Like, say, for example.
- 6:05S3: How's the Airbnb? We had a million years ago and
- 6:07S3: it had like 300 robots all through it. And it
- 6:11S3: was one of those weird Airbnbs where they live in
- 6:14S3: one wing of the house. And you can kind of share,
- 6:17S3: like you can go and make a coffee and they'll
- 6:18S3: be there in the morning in the kitchen. It was
- 6:21S3: only it was the only one that was left, obviously.
- 6:23S4: Yeah.
- 6:24S3: I'm sure they're doing a roaring trade. They were quite
- 6:25S3: nice people. But all those eyes looking at you and
- 6:29S3: no matter which room you go into. Not for me, dog.
- 6:32S4: Particularly because they're robots. Half there will be cameras for sure.
- 6:34S4: That's how they'll be making a little bit of a side.
- 6:36S3: They look like old robots. But yeah, you can retrofit
- 6:39S3: a nice HD camera in one of them. Sure.
- 6:41S4: Um, have, you know. It's actually running a Labor Day sale. Um,
- 6:48S4: there's a spy camera. Have you ever, have you ever.
- 6:53S4: This is probably a question out to the, uh, the
- 6:54S4: fairer sex, the ladies that are a part of the
- 6:56S4: show in the afternoon. Mhm. Have you ever come across
- 6:59S4: a bloke who has a soft toy collection? Like a
- 7:02S4: cuddly toy collection that parks up on the bed? Because
- 7:06S4: I have recounted this tale before and not graphic detail,
- 7:09S4: but I had a meaningful one night relationship with a
- 7:12S4: lass who had.
- 7:13S3: First of all, this sounds like a lie. That's not
- 7:15S3: something you'd do. But anyway, carry on for the sake
- 7:18S3: of radio.
- 7:19S4: The entire. The entire bed was covered in soft toys.
- 7:25S3: Which will you let it. Just scoop them off with
- 7:27S3: your arm and put them into a big black sack?
- 7:29S3: Or do they have a special secondary home?
- 7:31S4: Yeah, they had a secondary home and a sun window
- 7:33S4: by the like a sun bed by the window.
- 7:35S3: Like a little grandstand.
- 7:36S4: Because I went, oh, I'll take care of this and
- 7:38S4: grab the duvet and went to just give it the
- 7:39S4: big flick and just peel them off and was like, no, no, no,
- 7:42S4: that's not how we operate here.
- 7:44S3: Has I this is the question because that would was
- 7:48S3: it wasn't a deal breaker for you.
- 7:50S4: Oh, 100%. Well, I mean, you need a number of things.
- 7:52S3: But you didn't marry.
- 7:53S4: You definitely didn't.
- 7:55S3: Um or did you? Know Anna?
- 8:02S4: She's got jewelry as opposed to cuddly toys everywhere.
- 8:05S3: If you've had a collection that someone's had, that's been
- 8:07S3: a deal breaker for you. Yeah. Like you've turned up
- 8:09S3: one night stand. Or maybe they've revealed like, a collection
- 8:12S3: of something like a, you know, a few dates and
- 8:15S3: you're going, whoa! Red flag. No. Yeah. Then by all means,
- 8:18S3: text us. We might mention some shortly.
- 8:20S4: Coming to the spare room. It's where I keep all
- 8:22S4: my Duplo sweet earth.
- 8:24S5: Yeah, the fella rock drive with Jay and Dunk.
- 8:29S3: Uh, now, over the weekend, there was a baby born
- 8:33S3: with a moustache. And, like, not just like, a couple
- 8:36S3: of hairs. Like a full blown moustache.
- 8:41S4: That.
- 8:42S3: Had you not seen it up until then. Okay, we'll
- 8:44S3: put it. Definitely put a link in the show notes
- 8:46S3: for today's Rock drive podcast.
- 8:48S4: This is not real.
- 8:52S3: If you want to see it right now, you can't wait. No.
- 8:54S3: That's real. You can go to the rock drive and
- 8:56S3: Scream story. It's on there. Been shared on there from
- 8:59S3: the great and um, Instagram account. Wasted with a blue tick.
- 9:07S4: So we always joked about we've got these, we've got
- 9:10S4: this time actual photo, which is us as 11 or
- 9:13S4: 12 year old kids. And there's all of us and
- 9:16S4: we're all different. We're all different shapes and sizes at
- 9:18S4: that age and footy. And my, my good buddy, let's
- 9:21S4: call him Timmy O'Brien, because that's his mother name, is
- 9:25S4: running the most outrageous mustache like a full Sanchez at 11.
- 9:30S4: And the bloke was like half the height of everybody else.
- 9:33S4: He had the wickedest moustache from the get go, like
- 9:37S4: he would be that kid. That is him being born.
- 9:40S3: Now. I have just had a little squiz at the comments,
- 9:43S3: spicy as you can imagine, but I think we could
- 9:47S3: do an internet in 60s.
- 9:49S4: So this is where you read through as many of
- 9:51S4: the comments that you've got on there as possible.
- 9:54S3: Uh, so, yeah, this is for the baby that's been
- 9:57S3: born with a mustache. Uh, the internet in 60s. Do
- 10:00S3: your best. Okay. From J. Fox, bro. Skip kindergarten and
- 10:04S3: went straight into a midlife crisis from coffee coffee's hot goth.
- 10:09S3: My man is late to work already. From Carlos Funk's
- 10:13S3: good bloke. Drove his mom home from the hospital after
- 10:15S3: he was born. From you, canner. He was born at
- 10:22S3: 530 because a chef started at six garlic two, three, seven.
- 10:27S3: Bro's checking his blind spots already. Uh, Blackbird resurrection. Youngest
- 10:31S3: police chief ever D dawg two. Forget the breast milk.
- 10:35S3: This dude needs a beer and a cigarette. This one
- 10:40S3: from Doughboy 021. This is how I imagine cartel bosses
- 10:43S3: are born. That's some side chopper. He fixed my roof yesterday. Solitude. Um,
- 10:51S3: and from our very own Brad Watson on the radio.
- 10:54S3: That guy's starting Movember.
- 10:55S4: Really great. Shave down. It's it's almost too tough to believe.
- 11:01S4: But if you don't. If you cannot wait. Chuck Norris
- 11:03S4: has been reborn. Um, that's actually not a not too
- 11:07S4: far of a stretch, actually.
- 11:08S3: It's a full slug. It's amazing.
- 11:11S4: So. Text. Wow. WOW and just tell me. Give me
- 11:16S4: your thoughts, feelings and emotions on it. It looks like.
- 11:20S4: I mean, I'm not saying it doesn't happen because I
- 11:21S4: still think it's a great picture, but geez. Wow. WOW
- 11:25S4: to see a baby with a mustache or all the
- 11:29S4: big stories on the rock drive.
- 11:31S5: J and Dunc sitting in a tree. KISSO okay, that's weird.
- 11:37S5: Rock drive.
- 11:37S3: Now we have in front of us the list of
- 11:40S3: the greatest, uh, college basketball names of 2026.
- 11:45S4: Yeah. This, once again, makes you kind of go. Really?
- 11:50S4: Are we there? I saw a, um.
- 11:52S3: It's almost like some parents are naming a baby and
- 11:55S3: others are naming a headline festival act.
- 11:58S4: Yeah, well. Future superstars. I saw an article pop up
- 12:01S4: about a mother that got angry, um, because her child's
- 12:05S4: name was pronounced A, B, c, and then on her passport,
- 12:10S4: it's A BCDE. I think it's like, well, of course
- 12:14S4: it's going to happen. Um, but this is out of the.
- 12:18S3: How many interaction I'll have with anybody, anybody for their
- 12:23S3: whole life goes, hey, yeah BCD.
- 12:29S4: So thinking so running out onto the court from Lagrange College.
- 12:37S4: Give it up for catfish battle.
- 12:40S3: Catfish is amazing.
- 12:42S4: Catfish battle. This one here from Haskell Indian Nations University
- 12:45S4: is Z white woman wow.
- 12:49S3: That's from Lake Air College. Notorious Grooms. Oregon state. University. Peteris. Penis. Peteris. Penis.
- 13:01S4: Okay. Uh, from the University of West Alabama, a million bugs.
- 13:08S3: That is awesome.
- 13:10S4: Uh, from Mercyhurst University. Tennessee rainwater. That's a cool last name, though.
- 13:15S3: Uh, this one from Haskell. Indian Nations University. Teal. Soaring. Eagle.
- 13:21S3: That mean it's going to look great in the back
- 13:24S3: of his shirt.
- 13:25S4: Uh, Loyola Marymount College. All right. A LLWRIGHT. All right. Yeah.
- 13:36S4: All right, all right, all right.
- 13:38S3: That's. I'm from Campbell University. Sincere folk.
- 13:42S4: Not to be outdone at the University of Texas, Rio
- 13:45S4: Grande Valley. Always right. A sibling of. All right.
- 13:50S3: And from Jones College. Ball, a wiggy ball. Outrageous.
- 13:58S4: It's mad that they just don't get checked. Yeah, no,
- 14:01S4: that's a sweet name. Sweet. Alright.
- 14:03S3: Uh, now I'm just going to quickly, um, play you
- 14:06S3: our coin of destiny from last week, because we do
- 14:08S3: need a new one for after five this evening. Um,
- 14:12S3: coin if you're new to the show, first of all,
- 14:14S3: welcome on in. My name's Duncan, that's Jay. Hi. Where
- 14:16S3: you got a $1 million coin minted? Uh, that we
- 14:18S3: like to flip to sort out people's, um, decisions in
- 14:22S3: their life that they can't make, essentially. And we had
- 14:25S3: an update from Aaron, uh, who had a pretty hectic, um,
- 14:30S3: scenario where it was sell the house, buy a farm. Uh,
- 14:34S3: he sold the house. Um, no, didn't quite sell the house.
- 14:39S4: Still got the house for sale, which is a bargain.
- 14:41S3: Which is a beauty.
- 14:42S4: Yeah. Brad, the boss is pretty keen on it. Um,
- 14:44S4: but he already has probably between 20 and 30 houses
- 14:47S4: in his portfolio already, so he's just diversifying out into
- 14:50S4: super yachts now.
- 14:51S3: Oh, but then the house that's still on the market,
- 14:53S3: it's out in West Auckland, and it is an absolute
- 14:57S3: beauty of a property for like 1.5 or 1.6 was it?
- 15:01S4: Yeah.
- 15:01S3: 1.6, 1.6.
- 15:03S4: Um massive. If you're into horses this is like look
- 15:06S4: looking out over the water, um massive arena to, to
- 15:10S4: train in huge sheds, decent land.
- 15:12S3: Some would say we've stitched them up with a, um,
- 15:15S3: bridging finance between the two properties. Uh, having bought the
- 15:19S3: farm and not been able to sell the house, I
- 15:20S3: wouldn't know.
- 15:21S4: I would say that is the that is on the coin.
- 15:23S3: So if you've got a scenario for the coin and
- 15:25S3: you want to flip it, and for the most part
- 15:27S3: it's gone really well, but it just makes the decision
- 15:31S3: for you. And you can just move on with whatever
- 15:33S3: the scenario is it needs to be. It works better
- 15:36S3: when it's a decision that you're stuck on. Might even
- 15:38S3: chuck up a prize for this one this week. You
- 15:40S3: can text coin, send it off to 3520.
- 15:43S4: A couple of people are after the listing for the
- 15:45S4: place will text you back with, um, with the trading listing.
- 15:48S4: It's it's It's impressive.
- 15:52S3: Right after four.
- 15:53S4: If he ticks coin right now, it'll give you a
- 15:55S4: bounce back to the house. I've just been told by
- 15:57S4: Benny Boy.
- 15:57S3: Oh, there you go.
- 15:58S4: See? 0IN23520.
- 16:01S3: Now that it's come to our attention after four, we
- 16:04S3: need to talk about this. There's been a whole bunch
- 16:06S3: of military items put on up for auction dollar reserve.
- 16:09S3: We're going to get into that money and buy some
- 16:11S3: stuff we don't need after.
- 16:12S5: For enjoying this podcast. A get more of the boys
- 16:15S5: on their other podcast, not for radio uncensored yarns, naughty
- 16:20S5: and laughs with the lads wherever you get your podcasts.
- 16:23S4: I'm not gonna lie to you, I get rock hard
- 16:26S4: whenever I see an ex-military Unimog for sale.
- 16:31S3: Get your flex on, do you?
- 16:32S4: Oh yeah. I mean, I love the idea of making
- 16:36S4: a full end of days camper. You know, one of
- 16:38S4: those ones that you could just take around the world,
- 16:40S4: you know, one of those ones that would look equally
- 16:42S4: at home traveling through the back of the music is done, um,
- 16:45S4: as well as along the beaches of Aotearoa, you know, Pull!
- 16:49S3: Pulling the curtain back. I reckon Jay's been sending me
- 16:51S3: unimogs for seven years. Mhm. And he'd be like, how sexist.
- 16:55S3: How sick is it? There was one in Aussie we
- 16:57S3: saw once, and it was that real sick grey that
- 16:59S3: everyone's painting cars at the moment.
- 17:01S4: Nardo grey, the double cabbie.
- 17:03S3: Oh my goodness me. It was like so new and
- 17:07S3: specked up like it was a few levels up from
- 17:09S3: an army one.
- 17:10S4: It might have been one of those mans, or it
- 17:12S4: might have been like the vcos that they do or whatever. Anyhow.
- 17:15S4: So looks like the cost of living crisis has really
- 17:18S4: hit the New Zealand army as well, because they've just
- 17:20S4: chucked up buck reserves on about 100 Unimogs a hundred. Yeah.
- 17:26S4: So there's about they were all between they're all mid
- 17:29S4: to late 80s ones, uh, the US 1700, our flat decks, uh,
- 17:34S4: most of them have about between 120,000 and 200,000 cars
- 17:40S4: on the clock. And most of them because the auction
- 17:43S4: closes tonight on all of these between.
- 17:45S3: Just on trade me.
- 17:46S4: Uh, no, no, this is at it. Turners. Um, yeah.
- 17:49S4: If you if you text take you can check it
- 17:51S4: out right now. Um so take two, three, five, two
- 17:54S4: zero and you can see these bad boys um in Wellington,
- 17:58S4: but it's mad like forklifts, but they've got unimogs by
- 18:02S4: the dozens. Like that's like surely they won't all go.
- 18:06S4: I'd say that multiple people are punting on these things.
- 18:09S4: I'm nothing over five 5000. Yeah.
- 18:12S3: Currently there's one there for three two, which is, you know, like,
- 18:16S3: that's an interesting conversation you can have with Anna after
- 18:20S3: you buy it.
- 18:21S4: Well, I'll just say Dunk's bought this and he needs
- 18:23S4: to keep it at our house. And he said, I
- 18:25S4: can drive it.
- 18:27S3: Um, I'm trying to find one with the back on
- 18:29S3: it cos you're like halfway there if you're going to
- 18:30S3: pick one up.
- 18:31S4: So if you go down to, if you go down
- 18:33S4: to the uh, the, the Unimog, Mercedes-Benz, the U 1300
- 18:37S4: LS they are the ambulances there. Six six currently at
- 18:40S4: the moment that changed from 88.
- 18:43S3: You think about this, you know.
- 18:44S4: Truckloads of those two there's about Up. I'd say there'd
- 18:47S4: be about 20 of those bad boys and.
- 18:49S3: The next one, six, six. They are unbelievable. Imagine taking
- 18:52S3: that camping. You've got all the room. You can put
- 18:54S3: a rooftop tent on the top. Yeah. Or if you
- 18:57S3: want to cart your mates around from one location to another,
- 19:00S3: you chuck them all in the back, baby.
- 19:02S4: And they've got, you know, I mean, the dearer one here,
- 19:05S4: 87 is, um, eight grand, but 105 clicks on it.
- 19:12S4: And they get maintained because they've got the like the
- 19:14S4: military crew goes so hard on those things.
- 19:17S3: Can like if you don't buy one. I know we
- 19:19S3: always talk a big game on the show and then
- 19:21S3: basically do nothing off the back of it. Can someone
- 19:23S3: else just buy one like that is a sick purchase.
- 19:27S4: I'm gonna get.
- 19:27S3: A special license to drive one of those.
- 19:29S4: Well, well, yeah, I say so.
- 19:35S3: Great, Nigel. It feels like an appropriate time. Yeah. Good, mate.
- 19:40S3: Feels like an appropriate time to bring you on the
- 19:42S3: show because you own five unimogs.
- 19:45S9: Uh, well, yeah. Kind of. I've got four on my
- 19:48S9: property at the moment. Mhm. A couple of them I
- 19:51S9: don't own. But I look after them when I'm fixing
- 19:53S9: and I've got two of my own.
- 19:55S4: Are you, are you running the 80s. Mercedes Benz ones.
- 19:57S4: Are they. Is that the same model.
- 19:59S9: Uh, I got, I got everything from an 82, 84
- 20:03S9: to 2 2020 models.
- 20:07S3: Oh.
- 20:07S4: So that's, that is that's a little bit more modern.
- 20:11S4: So needless to say, um, if we were to be
- 20:15S4: lucky in the purchase of a couple of these extreme campers.
- 20:19S3: What do you say? Two now.
- 20:20S4: I know. Let's aim for the stars.
- 20:22S9: I got I got some really good news for you.
- 20:24S4: Aha.
- 20:25S9: And then I've got some really, really bad news for you.
- 20:28S4: Mhm.
- 20:30S9: The chances of any of those trucks going back on
- 20:33S9: the road in New Zealand is very slim.
- 20:35S4: Someone was saying that they're all de-registered.
- 20:38S9: Yeah. And the problem is they would have to be
- 20:41S9: reregistered as a new truck. And I'm not certain about
- 20:45S9: these facts, but I have spoken to a person in
- 20:48S9: NZ and they've kind of led me to believe that
- 20:51S9: this is the case. So this is not gospel. Yeah.
- 20:54S9: But um they wouldn't comply for emissions even close. And
- 21:00S9: I know enough about these trucks to know that the
- 21:03S9: chances of getting those engines tuned to be able to
- 21:06S9: run where they actually don't smoke like a train.
- 21:09S4: Yeah.
- 21:10S9: Are very, very limited because those engines are built with
- 21:14S9: extremely open tolerances. And they run what's called a wet
- 21:18S9: piston so that you can jump in it at 40
- 21:21S9: degrees below zero. Turn the key and put your foot
- 21:23S9: hard down.
- 21:24S3: Oh, okay.
- 21:24S4: See, that's my cup of tea.
- 21:26S3: Can you give us the bad news now?
- 21:29S9: Um, the other problem is that in order to re
- 21:33S9: comply them and I haven't had this confirmed. But the
- 21:35S9: guy I spoke to in NZ is pretty knowledgeable and
- 21:38S9: he's known me for a very long time, and he's
- 21:40S9: known me for the fact that I've, you know, he's
- 21:43S9: worked on my uni mocks doing a CLS for them many,
- 21:46S9: many times. And he said to reregister. Reregister it. It
- 21:51S9: would have to comply with the new New Zealand brake standards,
- 21:54S9: and there is no chance on God's green earth that
- 21:56S9: that would ever happen.
- 21:57S4: So, I mean, I can understand how that's an issue, Nigel,
- 22:00S4: but I've just heard from big Westie Lee that he's
- 22:02S4: got three mates out and run that are knocking these
- 22:05S4: things through at a rapid rate.
- 22:09S9: Oh look, there's heaps of them knocking around. I've had,
- 22:12S9: I think I've had, I can't remember, I've had five
- 22:15S9: or 6 or 7 of them in total. I've had like, yeah,
- 22:18S9: I've got three model 1300s on my property at the moment.
- 22:22S9: Well let's, let's.
- 22:24S4: Let's all get one each and we'll just roll in
- 22:26S4: a convoy of where they can't stop us all. I've
- 22:28S4: just got to said Westie.
- 22:30S3: Lee.
- 22:30S5: Rock drive with Jay and Dunk.
- 22:32S3: Scott onto this one. Uh, maintenance is a nightmare, but
- 22:35S3: it's a bit of fun. What have you got, new Zealand?
- 22:37S3: You can text us 3520 some text in saying my
- 22:40S3: absolute pain in the arse to um to owners. My
- 22:44S3: D50 Komatsu bulldozer. First day of ownership. The tracks fell off.
- 22:49S3: Got that fixed by diesel mechanic and all is good.
- 22:52S3: But now the fuel delivery is blocked and I may
- 22:54S3: have to dump over 100l of diesel pain in the arse,
- 22:56S3: but absolute joy when it's going good.
- 22:58S4: Um. Maintaining my v u r8 Maloo new clutch five
- 23:03S4: grand this time but so much pro charged fun. No kidding. Well,
- 23:06S4: if you're not cooking it then you probably don't need
- 23:09S4: to go through so many clutches.
- 23:10S3: Well, you know, that's what it was built for pretty much,
- 23:13S3: wasn't it? Uh, Jim, I've had two guys fail to
- 23:16S3: fix my brakes on an off road scooter. I can
- 23:18S3: see why the accidents are happening. Those things go to psycho.
- 23:23S3: Leave away.
- 23:23S4: Can you?
- 23:24S3: You can buy them. And they do 150 K an hour.
- 23:26S4: An off road E scooter. I've never heard of one.
- 23:30S3: Haven't you?
- 23:31S4: No way.
- 23:32S3: Just more suspension, lots of tread. Basically lots of speed.
- 23:36S4: Is it like motocross gear? It Absolutely fascinates me because
- 23:44S4: I can't imagine that they're cheap. Why don't you just
- 23:47S4: get a dirt bike? It's chick magnet. Yeah.
- 23:52S3: Yeah. Is this person here? Uh, my oh six Jaguar
- 23:56S3: XJR six goes like hell. The lovechild of a V6
- 23:59S3: engine and a La-Z-Boy. But what time is the most
- 24:03S3: dreaded part of my year?
- 24:05S4: Is it? I've got a 750 horsepower stage here. Had
- 24:08S4: spent thousands on multiple multiple gearboxes, diffs, and engines.
- 24:14S3: Geez, that one there. A 750 horse would basically just
- 24:18S3: change one gear and it would drop out through the
- 24:20S3: floor like the Flintstones.
- 24:21S4: There's a guy who famously, if you're heading along the
- 24:23S4: Truckee River, he must be in Howick somewhere. He has
- 24:25S4: like a fighter jet on his lawn.
- 24:28S3: Which is the most wild like call to the missus.
- 24:31S4: Yeah. How do you how do you get that across?
- 24:34S3: That's the start of a divorce, surely.
- 24:35S4: Yeah. There's a bloke famous.
- 24:38S3: Nigels gone out and done it again. You won't believe it.
- 24:40S3: He's bought a fighter jet reckons it's going to replace
- 24:42S3: the birdbath.
- 24:43S4: There's a big trucking company in the Bay of plenty,
- 24:45S4: and I'm not. I mean, if you know, you know,
- 24:46S4: if you don't know, you don't know.
- 24:47S3: Offering you real average at not giving out too many details.
- 24:50S3: So anyway, so many of them.
- 24:53S4: This bloke is a mad Elvis fan. He owns his Cadillacs.
- 24:56S4: He's got all the.
- 24:57S3: Elvis's actual Cadillacs. Yeah. Sick.
- 25:00S4: And the craziest memorabilia he has, like the jukebox out
- 25:03S4: of his own house and all sorts of stuff. Crazy. Anyway.
- 25:05S4: He's done well for himself, and as a result of that,
- 25:07S4: he had nowhere to put all his stuff. It used
- 25:09S4: to be at the depot, but then it just started.
- 25:11S4: The collection was out of hand anyway, so he secretly
- 25:14S4: bought the house across the road from him, didn't tell
- 25:16S4: his missus, and turned it into his personal collection set up.
- 25:20S3: Oh, that.
- 25:21S4: Is so wicked. Yeah, she didn't know for ages.
- 25:24S3: Uh, keep those ones coming through there. Great. Maintenance is
- 25:27S3: a nightmare, but it's a bit of fun, so I
- 25:29S3: keep it, you know?
- 25:30S5: Oh, all the best bits from the rock drive with
- 25:33S5: Jay and Dunk, you beauty. Listen, live on our app
- 25:36S5: or over 3 to 7 p.m. New Zealand time, Monday
- 25:38S5: to Friday. Oh.
- 25:40S10: Give me the best bits.
- 25:41S3: Benny boy in here as well. G'day, mate. How are you, mate?
- 25:45S5: Bloody good. Had a wicked weekend. I got down to
- 25:47S5: Ruapehu for the final closing days of the season.
- 25:50S3: 27th of October. And still snow on the mountain.
- 25:53S5: Yeah, it was sick on the upper mountain. And then
- 25:54S5: we had, like, a big ass party, um, downtown and I.
- 25:58S5: Undisclosed location because I don't want to get the business
- 25:59S5: in trouble, but massive bonfire people ripping. Someone wrote off
- 26:03S5: a scooter into into the river. It was awesome.
- 26:06S4: I saw, I saw some true talent on form as well.
- 26:09S4: We probably get to that in a little bit later
- 26:11S4: in the show.
- 26:12S5: That after six. But on my journeys, um, obviously I
- 26:15S5: love a historic pub. For me, that's what I, that's
- 26:18S5: what I look for. You know, we were talking about
- 26:20S5: it like, I love going in and just like the
- 26:22S5: old photographs on the wall, that for me is a
- 26:24S5: big one. It's always sad looking men with the biggest
- 26:27S5: coldie you've ever seen that they knocked down with, like,
- 26:29S5: toothpick sized tools.
- 26:31S4: Yeah.
- 26:32S5: Or just like the monster overfishing that they've done these
- 26:35S5: like snapper that are as big as them. And there's
- 26:37S5: like 70 of them on a lawn. That's a good pub.
- 26:39S3: I like old sporting memorabilia in there. When you can
- 26:43S3: just remember the players from when you were young.
- 26:45S5: I've got a video of you practically messing your pants
- 26:47S5: at that pub at Bathurst when we were walking up
- 26:49S5: the stairs, and it was just like all of the
- 26:52S5: all of the videos.
- 26:53S3: That was yeah, unbelievable. History in the Oxford.
- 26:55S4: So you've got the ten criteria that need to be ticked.
- 26:58S4: So if you've got a favourite local this the all these.
- 27:01S5: Yeah. And I mean credit where credit's due. The Deni
- 27:03S5: Dictionary have done a great job on this one. Ten signs.
- 27:05S5: It's a good pub one great carpet pattern.
- 27:08S3: Yeah.
- 27:09S4: There it is. That's every Wetherspoons.
- 27:11S5: Yep. Two pints are less than eight bucks.
- 27:13S4: Once again Wetherspoons tick.
- 27:15S5: And wedges less than ten.
- 27:17S4: Tick.
- 27:18S5: The menus are a word document with zero II and
- 27:20S5: riddled with spelling mistakes.
- 27:22S3: Love it.
- 27:22S5: Yeah, you can host a wedding or a wake for
- 27:25S5: $500 and a firm handshake. There's pork chop on Tuesday
- 27:29S5: at Meat raffle on Friday. And you can gamble.
- 27:32S3: Yes. Tek tek tek tek tek tek.
- 27:34S5: There's only two types of salad garden or side. There's
- 27:39S5: always a fresh batch of trough lollies in the pisser.
- 27:43S5: In their last social media post was at the end
- 27:45S5: of Covid, telling everyone they're open again. We went to
- 27:50S5: a good one as well with some of my mates
- 27:51S5: have signed up to the cosy club so we went
- 27:54S5: down there to play 500. Although the old diaries and
- 27:56S5: I swear to God they were cheating, they were rolling
- 27:58S5: us for our cash. If you don't want to say
- 28:00S5: anything because you're sitting there and you're like, ah, Maureen,
- 28:03S5: I see your patched nephews behind you. So you win
- 28:06S5: this round again. I'm not gonna call you up on
- 28:09S5: that sleight of hand you're using to get extra cards.
- 28:11S3: Take some man to call out an old person at
- 28:13S3: a cosy club.
- 28:14S4: Particularly in. Right. Yeah.
- 28:16S3: Yeah. Uh, thank you very much, Benny Boy and Denny dictionary.
- 28:21S3: They don't often miss.
- 28:22S4: No. They're good. They're very, very good.
- 28:24S11: Yeah. The boys rock drive with Jay and dunk.
- 28:29S12: The coin of Destiny.
- 28:36S3: Earlier in the year, myself and Jay got a $1
- 28:39S3: million coin minted to make decisions in people's lives. And
- 28:45S3: if you would like to use it, you can text coin,
- 28:47S3: send it off to three, five, two, zero. Um, with
- 28:50S3: the scenario, obviously two options, one coin and you just
- 28:54S3: got to roll with whatever the coin throws up. Oh, wait.
- 28:58S3: Oh yeah. 70 mill wide. Um, it's nothing but sterling
- 29:02S3: silver and just like I say has a lot of weight.
- 29:07S3: There's been all sorts. There's been. Man, I can't wait
- 29:10S3: to check back in with the bloke that decided to
- 29:11S3: pack up his life and move for the big money
- 29:14S3: in Australia. Yeah. Had to pack up within ten days.
- 29:17S3: Family will probably be not too far away from joining
- 29:19S3: them right now.
- 29:20S4: The bloke that, uh, gave up a semi-professional footy career
- 29:24S4: here to go and do bull riding in Canada or something. Yep. Um,
- 29:28S4: of course. And we go, well, what is lying in
- 29:33S4: front of you? You're at a fork in the road
- 29:36S4: and you need a little direction. So you lean on
- 29:39S4: our $1 million coin of destiny.
- 29:42S13: Well, we have four tickets for Christchurch Foo Fighters.
- 29:47S3: Mhm.
- 29:47S13: And we don't know whether to take the kids or
- 29:50S13: leave a baby to get a babysitter and take friends instead.
- 29:53S6: Oh.
- 29:55S3: How old are the kids?
- 29:56S13: Uh, 13 year old girl and nine year old boy.
- 29:59S4: Oh, they're in a sweet spot. They'd love that. Yeah, she's.
- 30:02S4: They would love that.
- 30:03S13: 15 year old would love it. It's, um, right up
- 30:05S13: her alley with the her, um, song likes. Yeah. We're
- 30:12S13: not too sure whether they're too young or we're just. Hey, friends.
- 30:14S4: Is it the would it be their first ever gig
- 30:16S4: and first ever gig that you've gone to as a family,
- 30:18S4: like proper one?
- 30:20S13: Uh, it. Well, the boy has not been to one. Um, Chloe,
- 30:25S13: the girl she went to see, Dua Lipa. It's a
- 30:27S13: little bit different.
- 30:28S3: Mhm.
- 30:29S4: A little bit.
- 30:30S3: Okay. Yeah.
- 30:31S13: Just a little.
- 30:32S3: Bit. Um. Of course. Um, Rodge full interview on the
- 30:35S3: Morning Rumbles podcast with Dave Grohl. Great chat this morning.
- 30:38S4: Yeah, he's basically I don't know if you heard it,
- 30:40S4: but he said that Roger isn't allowed to quit until
- 30:42S4: he stops as well. They kind of locked in intertwined souls.
- 30:46S13: I can't see that happening anytime soon.
- 30:47S3: Righty o. So we're going to fire up the coin
- 30:50S3: of Destiny. Best luck. We're going to go. Uh, heads
- 30:52S3: the kids go. Tails.
- 30:56S4: Babysitter and a bender.
- 30:57S3: Yeah. You and your mates.
- 30:59S4: Okay. Righty o.
- 31:00S3: Five. Four. Three. Two. One zero.
- 31:12S12: Tails.
- 31:13S4: Looks like the kids are staying home this time. Babysitter.
- 31:16S4: And Amanda, you little beauty.
- 31:18S13: Thank you very much.
- 31:20S3: No worries.
- 31:21S13: Decision made. I'm sorry. Different Christmas present out for them.
- 31:24S4: Yeah, I.
- 31:25S3: There'll always be another one. There'll always be a nice one.
- 31:28S4: I mean.
- 31:28S3: Double down.
- 31:29S4: Here. I'd never I'd never questioned the coin but a
- 31:31S4: little bit devastated for the kids on that one. But
- 31:32S4: anyway we move on to Raymundo. How are.
- 31:36S14: How are boys.
- 31:37S4: Are good now. Where are you struggling to make the
- 31:41S4: decision here. What have you got? Heading left. What have
- 31:43S4: you got? Heading right?
- 31:45S15: Well, I'm struggling with the North radio chatter or I
- 31:49S15: mean Deebo.
- 31:51S3: Okay, okay. Okay. So can I just quickly bring everyone
- 31:55S3: up to speed with the meme de bro? I just
- 31:58S3: said once and it was a throwaway comment on the
- 32:01S3: podcast that it's funny how you can't compliment another bloke
- 32:04S3: at the urinal on, uh, if he's running a good
- 32:07S3: set up. And I said, you know, like mean de bro.
- 32:11S3: And now there's been a tattoo made up which heaps
- 32:13S3: of the not for radio podcast listeners are getting. Yeah.
- 32:16S3: And it's sort of like, as you would imagine, but
- 32:19S3: an aggressive panther at the end roaring and.
- 32:21S4: Then panther headed picker.
- 32:22S3: And then it says mean de bro. Or are you
- 32:25S3: thinking about going the not for radio logo getting that
- 32:28S3: tattooed on your body?
- 32:30S14: Oh, you would be right there, sir.
- 32:33S3: I mean, you've got epic and epic. Be here.
- 32:35S4: You okay? Oh, this is.
- 32:40S3: This is. Kids will go mean. De bro tales will go.
- 32:44S3: Not for radio logo for your next tattoo.
- 32:48S4: Hang on. Have you got any tattoos?
- 32:52S14: I've got two tattoos. One botched by a mate and
- 32:55S14: another one botched by mate.
- 32:56S4: Yeah, perfect. This will match them perfectly.
- 32:57S3: Then you can call them the big three now.
- 33:00S4: Okay?
- 33:00S3: Right. Okay. Five. Four. Three. 210.
- 33:09S12: Kids.
- 33:12S3: And it is the mean bro tattoo.
- 33:15S16: Woo woo! Boys.
- 33:18S3: Oh, you got a rush.
- 33:19S16: Even Ric Flair.
- 33:20S4: That is awesome.
- 33:22S16: Oh.
- 33:23S14: My boys, my hands are shaking.
- 33:25S3: Oh, mate, it won't be the only thing that's shaking.
- 33:27S3: Once you get that done.
- 33:28S11: Strap in and send it. Rock drive with Jay and
- 33:32S11: dunk The Rock drives.
- 33:35S3: A bit.
- 33:36S11: On. Cheers to Placemakers know how can do.
- 33:39S3: Downtime costs money. Placemakers provides the products and volumes builders
- 33:43S3: need fast. No waiting. Want to know if you've got
- 33:45S3: a bit on this week? You can let us know
- 33:47S3: what's on your plate. You can text on. Send it
- 33:50S3: off to 3520. There is plenty of text coming through
- 33:54S3: at the moment. Um, how's this one here? But on
- 33:58S3: fella's gotta build a corrugated iron fence at my daughter's
- 34:01S3: place to keep her dog. And the bloody thing's been
- 34:03S3: in ours for about six months now. It's a it's
- 34:06S3: a staffy that snores like a goddamn freight train. Certainly
- 34:09S3: won't miss the crop duster that he does when he's
- 34:12S3: walking through the lounge. Either. Or sleeping next to your feet. Jeez,
- 34:15S3: that's so bad. So, yeah, gotta get the fence done
- 34:17S3: this weekend. Up the wire.
- 34:19S4: Oh.
- 34:20S3: Great.
- 34:20S4: Um, another one here. Uh, helping mum with the outdoor
- 34:24S4: area and Dick, someone was smashing down a cabin and
- 34:27S4: building up a dick. Big Westie. Lee just smashed down
- 34:30S4: a dick and built himself a cabin. you guys could
- 34:32S4: have done a little straight swap.
- 34:33S3: See, um, this one here from Brandon. Neighbor thought it was, uh,
- 34:36S3: he was an arborist and decided to cut down a tree,
- 34:39S3: but decided it decided to fool the wrong way. Smashes
- 34:42S3: through my fence and shed happy days. Now I don't
- 34:45S3: have a shed and a big gap in my fence
- 34:47S3: to sort out.
- 34:48S4: Nah, the one here finished building 100 square shed, 130
- 34:52S4: square family flat. Now building my main family, 300 square
- 34:56S4: two story home on the weekends and nights while being
- 34:58S4: a husband dad to a nine and seven year old
- 35:00S4: plus site manager on a shopping complex during the. Oh
- 35:03S4: my God, some people can get through some work.
- 35:06S3: That is a bit odd.
- 35:07S4: That is a bit on.
- 35:09S3: This one here from Carl. Hey fellas. I worked at
- 35:12S3: Christchurch Stadium for the league and rugby doing security digger
- 35:15S3: operator Monday to Friday, works Saturday for the Black Ferns
- 35:18S3: study and bathroom renovation and trying to fit a motorcycle
- 35:21S3: ride or two. And uh, you little beauty. Bit on,
- 35:24S3: bit on.
- 35:25S4: I'll tell you who else got a bit on. And
- 35:27S4: that's Madhu aka Matt.
- 35:29S17: How are How are boys?
- 35:32S4: Yeah. Are you. You know, if I'm just going by
- 35:36S4: what I'm reading, um, you've got a bit on, and
- 35:38S4: I definitely don't.
- 35:41S17: It's been better, boys.
- 35:43S4: So give us give us the. Make someone else's week
- 35:48S4: on a Tuesday by letting everybody know what you're going through.
- 35:52S17: Make the boys feel better. Nah. We come back from overseas.
- 35:56S17: We moved back into the house. You've been rented out.
- 35:59S17: So we had to get the carpet redone. So did that.
- 36:02S17: Moved in that night, realized that saw was blocked, the
- 36:06S17: oven blew up, and the fridge freezer blew up. All right,
- 36:10S17: try and go to bed. Have a good sleep. And
- 36:13S17: then the bloody washing machine shut itself. Didn't that piss
- 36:15S17: water out everywhere? All over the new carpet. Fix that.
- 36:20S17: Rip the jib off the wall. Got the carpet layers back,
- 36:23S17: restretched it over replastered the wall. And then it leaked again,
- 36:27S17: didn't it?
- 36:28S3: Oh my God. But worse this.
- 36:29S17: Time, boys.
- 36:31S3: Having some run. You're having some run.
- 36:35S4: I love it. You're laughing through it. Because if you don't,
- 36:37S4: you cry a.
- 36:38S17: You gotta laugh, mate. Absolutely bent over and it hurts,
- 36:41S17: but you just gotta smile.
- 36:45S4: Maybe you can see if Placemakers is running a 25
- 36:48S4: litre tub of. Might come in handy.
- 36:53S3: All right.
- 36:54S17: I've run out.
- 36:55S16: Yeah.
- 36:56S3: That is that is one of the greatest runs of
- 36:59S3: bad luck. And it's like only house bad luck. Like,
- 37:02S3: you know, like it's all.
- 37:03S17: Yeah, yeah, that's right. First world problems.
- 37:06S3: But.
- 37:06S17: Bloody hell.
- 37:07S3: It's concentrated and it's all a giant pain in the ass.
- 37:10S3: So good luck with that.
- 37:10S4: Yeah. 250 bucks thanks to Placemakers is all yours. And
- 37:13S4: and just know.
- 37:14S17: Thank you very much, boys.
- 37:15S4: There is a lot of support coming through on the
- 37:17S4: text machine. That poor bastard Jesse needs a break.
- 37:23S17: Cheers, team. I really appreciate.
- 37:24S16: It. No.
- 37:25S3: That's it. Hold. There are no big, bloody great value
- 37:28S3: with a couple of tubes.
- 37:30S4: He's great value without tubes.
- 37:31S16: He's epic.
- 37:33S11: Rock drive with Jay and Dunk.
- 37:35S3: Rock drive on the rocket chain dunk. It's coming up 6:00. Uh,
- 37:38S3: just checking back to what we chucked out there before.
- 37:41S3: What's the smallest job that you've taken the longest amount
- 37:43S3: of time to do? How's Justin's ticks? I started painting
- 37:47S3: our house 15 years ago. I'm a professional painter, and
- 37:50S3: so far I've got two sides done.
- 37:55S16: And then.
- 37:55S3: Amazing.
- 37:57S4: Now, how many chippies have you been to, though, that
- 37:59S4: just aren't lined? Half finished?
- 38:02S3: Yeah, exactly. I mean, fair enough to like.
- 38:04S4: Do it all day. You don't want to do it
- 38:06S4: at night.
- 38:06S3: I get it, I get it and there's not as
- 38:07S3: as much enjoyment or money back when you're doing your
- 38:10S3: own home. Um, so I don't know how this came up.
- 38:13S3: We were chatting about apples before the show. Here's something
- 38:15S3: that I never knew and I'm 41 years old. Jay
- 38:19S3: told me today that the stickers on an apple are edible.
- 38:24S4: Yeah, you can just smash those.
- 38:27S16: See Lee.
- 38:29S18: I'm not having that for a second. That's a plastic sticker.
- 38:32S4: That is a plastic sticker. I didn't say it was
- 38:33S4: good for you.
- 38:35S16: Got him.
- 38:37S4: They actually did something. They did some over these, uh,
- 38:41S4: like a veggie cellulose stickers over in the states that
- 38:43S4: they had with additional vitamins that came in on oranges
- 38:47S4: because oranges with black pepper or something in turmeric is
- 38:51S4: like a real immune booster. So they basically made them
- 38:53S4: out of black pepper and turmeric. So you'd have that
- 38:56S4: when you had your orange.
- 38:58S3: So how many apple stickers do you think you've eaten
- 39:00S3: in your lifetime?
- 39:01S4: Uh, never take them off. Never take them.
- 39:04S16: That's crazy.
- 39:05S3: I've never eaten one. Never.
- 39:08S4: But not even by accident.
- 39:10S3: Yeah, like I might bite into it and be like, oh, damn,
- 39:13S3: I'm gonna die. So then I don't eat it because
- 39:16S3: I don't want to die.
- 39:17S4: If I'm being completely honest, it's probably one of the
- 39:18S4: better things I put into my body. Yeah, the plastic
- 39:22S4: sticker on an apple is not even in the top
- 39:24S4: 100 list of stuff that I'm worried about.
- 39:26S3: So how many stickers could you eat before it undoes you,
- 39:30S3: do you think?
- 39:30S4: Well, I would say that I mean, microplastics getting into
- 39:34S4: the bloodstream would be probably a bit of a stretch.
- 39:37S16: They're not.
- 39:38S3: I mean, now it kind of makes sense. They're not plotting.
- 39:40S3: I always pull them off and put them on a sheet.
- 39:43S3: Apparently the company I buy them off can. You can
- 39:45S3: get sports gear for your kid's school.
- 39:47S16: Yes.
- 39:48S3: Um, and we go through that many that I'm pretty
- 39:50S3: sure we could have enough sports gear to donate to
- 39:53S3: all of the Pacific Islands. And now one school alone,
- 39:56S3: the just from the apples that my kids.
- 39:58S16: Eat.
- 39:59S4: The Duncan hide PE shed at your local school. You're welcome.
- 40:02S4: We love apples. It's a great little set up there,
- 40:05S4: though I don't know why they need to put stickers on.
- 40:07S4: It's somebody that works in the fruit industry would probably
- 40:09S4: know that there are edible versions of it. The majority
- 40:12S4: of them.
- 40:12S16: Think that.
- 40:12S3: Each individual sticker is slightly different, like each. Therefore each
- 40:16S3: apple is identifiable, although just putting them in batches.
- 40:19S4: Yeah. Have you not seen them when they they basically
- 40:21S4: go under a sticker like they go under a roller
- 40:23S4: and there's stickers everywhere all over the mat because they
- 40:27S4: get they get doubled up sometimes and fall off and
- 40:30S4: all sorts of.
- 40:30S3: Do they get graded. And so a certain sticker means
- 40:34S3: a different grading. So we just get the dud apples
- 40:36S3: here and they send all the good ones overseas.
- 40:38S4: Um, I'm not entirely sure.
- 40:39S3: We need to do an apple deep dive tomorrow.
- 40:41S4: Yeah, we do that.
- 40:42S3: We do. What would actually happen if you ate an
- 40:45S3: apple a day? Could you get diabetes from apples? A
- 40:48S3: lot of sugar. A lot of fructose.
- 40:50S4: Yeah, that's what they said. Funny. My kids smashed them
- 40:54S4: like fruit bats. They go through so many. They. No kidding.
- 40:57S4: You know those same bags that you're talking about? Yeah.
- 40:59S4: We'll do 4 or 5 of those a week.
- 41:01S3: Whoa. Oh, man.
- 41:03S4: And they and they just they love em. My mom's
- 41:06S4: exactly the same. I reckon it's like a recessive thing.
- 41:08S4: She used to pull over where there's an orchard that
- 41:10S4: we used to have in Bethlehem. If you've been through that,
- 41:13S4: you'd know it.
- 41:13S3: Can I just stop you there and say, if you're
- 41:15S3: gonna say that your mum used to stop and then
- 41:17S3: nick apples from the orchard. Not a good thing to
- 41:19S3: say on the radio.
- 41:20S4: Okay, we'll move on.
- 41:21S3: Okay, good.
- 41:22S11: The Rock drive podcast.
- 41:24S3: Now, it's been 20 years since the release of one
- 41:27S3: of the most iconic movies of our time, uh, Talladega Nights,
- 41:31S3: which is quite a funny one because, um, Will Ferrell
- 41:34S3: knew nothing about NASCAR, uh, until doing the movie. And
- 41:38S3: he's had a great chat with Jimmy Fallon on the
- 41:40S3: Jimmy Fallon show, chatting about it. Um, worth a mention
- 41:43S3: as well. Our very own Shane van Gisbergen, um, was
- 41:46S3: part of that massive 15 car crash, uh, at the
- 41:50S3: Talladega Speedway over the weekend. One car somersaulted through the air.
- 41:54S4: Crazy.
- 41:54S3: Bring a halt to the, uh, racing over the weekend. Yeah,
- 41:57S3: it was just a full blown pile up. Crazy vision.
- 42:01S3: If you see that pop up, worth a watch. Uh,
- 42:03S3: but yeah. Here is, uh, the big man on Jimmy
- 42:06S3: Fallon chatting about the movie.
- 42:07S19: Talladega Nights, uh, will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of
- 42:11S19: this film.
- 42:12S7: Yeah.
- 42:14S19: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
- 42:16S20: That's kind of wild.
- 42:17S19: 20 years.
- 42:18S20: 20.
- 42:18S19: Years. Do you remember making this or come up with
- 42:21S19: the idea for this?
- 42:22S21: Uh, yeah, we made we, you know, this was a
- 42:24S21: reaction to how hard anchorman was to get made. So
- 42:28S21: we had so many rejections of that script, and we
- 42:31S21: thought we were never going to make it. And I
- 42:33S21: and at that time, it was the peak, like the
- 42:37S21: popularity of NASCAR. Oh, yeah. And I said, we should
- 42:40S21: just we should just pick a topic that everyone loves
- 42:42S21: and just make a movie. Like we should just do
- 42:44S21: a NASCAR movie. Yeah. And Adam McKay called me. He's like,
- 42:47S21: that's not a bad idea.
- 42:49S19: And did either one of you know about NASCAR?
- 42:51S21: No. Knew nothing new. I didn't even know cars were involved. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:57S21: You learned that an an acronym for something else. Uh,
- 43:02S21: but he did it. So yeah, we, we, uh, we,
- 43:05S21: we went in and pitched Will Ferrell as a NASCAR
- 43:08S21: driver and.
- 43:09S19: Now it.
- 43:09S21: Is. Yeah, it.
- 43:10S19: Is the NASCAR movie.
- 43:11S21: So it's pretty, it's pretty cool.
- 43:13S19: People just quote it all the time and love it
- 43:15S19: so much.
- 43:15S21: It's insane. It's, it's kind of crazy that if you know,
- 43:20S21: you're the first or if you're not first, you're last. Yeah.
- 43:22S21: How does it go? if you're if you're not first,
- 43:25S21: if you ain't first, you're last.
- 43:26S19: That's right. Yeah.
- 43:27S21: That's correct.
- 43:27S19: Yeah, yeah. That's now.
- 43:31S21: People. You've never seen it. No, no. Yeah.
- 43:34S19: I'm gonna wait for it. I'm gonna wait for the
- 43:35S19: 20th anniversary.
- 43:36S21: Yeah. No, wait, no, wait for the 40th.
- 43:39S19: Wait for the 40th extra scenes.
- 43:40S21: Yeah. We're gonna 20 years from now, we're going to
- 43:43S21: release some bonus material.
- 43:46S19: I can't wait to see that. But it's crazy how
- 43:48S19: people do quote your lines all the time. Like it's actually. Yeah.
- 43:51S21: And people get mad when I don't remember that I
- 43:53S21: said them.
- 43:54S19: Oh, really?
- 43:54S21: Yeah. I had someone, someone drove up to me and,
- 43:58S21: and they pulled, they rolled the window down. They go, hey,
- 44:01S21: why are you so sweaty? I go, oh, because I
- 44:04S21: just went on a bike ride. I was like, no, from.
- 44:10S19: Yeah, from stepbrothers.
- 44:11S21: Because you were watching cops. I'm like, oh, I'm sorry. Yeah, sorry.
- 44:16S21: Never mind.
- 44:17S19: Uh.
- 44:18S21: Sorry.
- 44:20S4: Um, Grayson Russell, who you remember was the tiny little
- 44:23S4: ginger headed kid who was sitting at the coffee table
- 44:25S4: just writing it off. Here is him doing the audition
- 44:29S4: to get the role, and they're just feeding him lines.
- 44:32S22: Shut up, chimp, I'm gonna push you down the stairs. Chimp.
- 44:39S22: I'm gonna come at you like a spider monkey.
- 44:41S23: Like a spider monkey. Go on.
- 44:43S22: I'm all jacked up on Mountain Dew.
- 44:46S24: Can you do that again? And yelled at even louder. Say,
- 44:48S24: shut up, Chip, you're just a wrinkled old fart. But
- 44:50S24: yell it at him.
- 44:52S22: Shut up, chimp. You're just a wrinkled old fart.
- 44:56S24: Hey, can you say shut up, Chip, or I'm gonna
- 44:58S24: push you down the stairs.
- 45:00S22: Shut up, chimp, I'm gonna push you down the stairs.
- 45:03S23: Damn.
- 45:07S4: So good. He's now a frontman of the band as well.
- 45:10S3: Yeah. Awesome.
- 45:11S11: Oh. Sounds feral. I love it. Rock drive with Jay
- 45:15S11: and Dunk.
- 45:17S3: Of course, on Rock drive. I know this glass chip
- 45:20S3: or crack on your windscreen. If you notice it, make
- 45:22S3: sure you notice it. Choosing a greener tomorrow when you
- 45:24S3: choose the crew at Novus. Mhm. Um, we'll chat about
- 45:28S3: this earlier saying, uh, whether or not there's a collection
- 45:31S3: that somebody has had that you've gone on a date with.
- 45:34S3: And maybe they revealed the collection a few dates deep. Uh, but, uh,
- 45:39S3: is there a collection that they've had that you've gone?
- 45:42S3: You can't do that one.
- 45:43S4: Have I got this one here? Heck yes. The ex
- 45:46S4: of mine had a couple of titties that he used
- 45:48S4: to snuggle with every night. Bloke was 24. And what
- 45:51S4: made it worse? They were from his older sister who
- 45:54S4: lived in the next room.
- 45:55S3: Oh, jeez. That's weird. Oh, how's this one? Got told
- 45:58S3: about a guy who works with my sister in law
- 46:00S3: who collects his cat's whiskers when it sheds them, keeps
- 46:04S3: them in jars. Grown adult to. If. If yes, wonder
- 46:07S3: what that stands for.
- 46:08S4: How do you know that a cat's shitting its whiskers?
- 46:11S3: I've never seen one. And you've had cats the whole time?
- 46:13S4: Never even knew that. It happens.
- 46:15S3: We see Lee sees them on his cats.
- 46:17S4: Yeah, but you see them falling off?
- 46:18S18: Nah, mate. You'll just. You'll just see one on the rug.
- 46:20S18: If you've got a hardwood floor, you'll see them when
- 46:22S18: they come off on a lot of the time by
- 46:24S18: a cat door, because you'll try and go through because
- 46:25S18: that's why they're there. That's the proximity of how wide
- 46:28S18: they are. So they'll go to jump through a small
- 46:30S18: gap and every now and then rip one off. And
- 46:32S18: then I use them for toothpicks.
- 46:34S3: There you go.
- 46:34S4: Yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
- 46:35S3: Nice thick one a like a really chunky pube.
- 46:39S4: Yeah. My cross here says my nana. Speaking of had
- 46:42S4: the porcelain dolls. You know, the big creepy bastards that
- 46:45S4: sat on chairs in our room that we slept. And
- 46:46S4: you wake up at 2 a.m. as a wee fella? No.
- 46:49S4: And tell me you wouldn't freak out. And she moved
- 46:53S4: them when we weren't there. I thought those things were
- 46:56S4: alive for years.
- 46:57S3: Oh, no. Yeah. Jeez. That creepy they were saying that's
- 47:01S3: what the young fella, my one five year old, walked
- 47:04S3: out of the toilet at a mate's house over the
- 47:05S3: weekend and goes, oh, no, not into that. And I
- 47:10S3: was like, what? And then he walked off. He goes,
- 47:12S3: it's the eyes for me. And it was the creepy. Exactly.
- 47:15S3: Those the creepy porcelain dolls. How's this one? Made a
- 47:18S3: guy with a booger wall next to the bed. I
- 47:20S3: guess you can call it a collection, but it was
- 47:22S3: more of a long running biohazard. A bigger wall. Delete.
- 47:28S4: That is grim.
- 47:29S3: Honey, you can't just delete a human. But you can block.
- 47:32S4: Mhm.
- 47:33S3: Um, and one more text. Speaking of apples, learning something
- 47:38S3: about them. I want to talk about grapes. Now, someone
- 47:42S3: just said, put a grape in the microwave and see
- 47:44S3: what happens.
- 47:46S4: How long you put it on for?
- 47:47S3: You know what happens, Benny boy? Does it explode like
- 47:50S3: a bomb going off?
- 47:51S5: Um, yeah, they arc up. So, like, if you have
- 47:53S5: them cut in half, like if you cut it in
- 47:55S5: half and put two sides, like sparks will arc between
- 47:58S5: the two halves of it. The other one that you
- 48:00S5: definitely shouldn't do is put a light bulb in a
- 48:02S5: glass of water in the microwave. The light bulb turns on,
- 48:04S5: but then it can explode. And that one does create
- 48:06S5: deadly gas. So actually don't do that one. But the
- 48:09S5: grapes is fun.
- 48:10S3: We could do a segment of stuff that Ben has
- 48:12S3: learned in his life saying, here's some things you shouldn't do.
- 48:15S4: Yeah, been there, done that. So you don't have to Banana.
- 48:19S3: I was today years old when I learned that a
- 48:21S3: grown adult will put a light bulb in the microwave
- 48:23S3: for fun just because they were bored. That's so loose. Also.
- 48:30S3: So there is a lot of text coming through. Jay
- 48:33S3: was saying that the, um, the stickers on apples are
- 48:36S3: totally fine to eat.
- 48:37S4: Yeah, they've got vitamin P in them.
- 48:39S3: Vitamin plastic.
- 48:40S4: Exactly. That's what Jay told us. Um, he turned over
- 48:43S4: two years worth of compost on the weekend into a
- 48:44S4: tomato bid, and there was truckloads of apple stickers even
- 48:47S4: right at the bottom. Those bad boys aren't breaking down
- 48:50S4: in compost in two years.
- 48:51S3: Yeah. Okay, well, we did a deep dive on those. Um, well,
- 48:54S3: stickers can be the main focus. We'll do apples in
- 48:57S3: the background, going to get to the bottom of whether
- 48:59S3: or not we're getting the smallest, like bloody crabapple sized
- 49:02S3: apples in the supermarkets because other countries are getting the big,
- 49:06S3: glorious ones. They seem weirdly small at the moment.
- 49:09S4: I it just literally unearthed a whole bunch of Apple
- 49:12S4: facts that I have.
- 49:14S3: Like, oh, okay. Well, sweet would have been better when
- 49:16S3: we started talking about apples. But anyway, we'll do another
- 49:18S3: show tomorrow.
- 49:19S11: Go! Well, go long, go deep rock drive.
- 49:22S3: Uh, payouts and US dollars are out for the, um,
- 49:26S3: UFC 333. Um.
- 49:29S4: What did the vault get?
- 49:30S3: Uh, $1.18 million.
- 49:33S4: That'll keep us Cooking Channel going a little longer, wouldn't it?
- 49:36S3: I like us cooking channel.
- 49:37S4: It's awesome. What I love because he's, he's a legit
- 49:40S4: he's got a wicked farm. Um, and he must have
- 49:43S4: his parents and, you know, other family members that kind
- 49:46S4: of live on the property with him as well. And
- 49:47S4: he goes, the old boy just gave me a bouncy,
- 49:49S4: there's a deer down in the bottom paddock, so just
- 49:51S4: bang straight off the deck, sacks this thing with, gets
- 49:54S4: his rifle out and sacks a deer and then brings
- 49:56S4: it back and butchers it up.
- 49:57S3: Do you know there's a huge wallaby problem around Lake Tarawera?
- 50:00S4: Huge.
- 50:02S3: I was driving there, were there over the long weekend
- 50:05S3: and was driving there and wasn't far away from it
- 50:07S3: was near the Blue Lake sort of thing in the
- 50:09S3: middle of the road. And I was like, thought I
- 50:11S3: said out loud. I was like, that looked like a wallaby,
- 50:13S3: having no knowledge that wallabies were in the area because
- 50:16S3: it just looked big. It didn't quite see the tail
- 50:18S3: and saw the tail on the way back on yesterday,
- 50:21S3: but I was like, oh my gosh. So apparently plague proportions.
- 50:24S3: Just smoking all the vegetation up there.
- 50:26S4: Yeah, through the central plateau, there's truckloads of them. And
- 50:29S4: then down south it's weird that they just popped in there.
- 50:32S3: Yeah. It's like someone grabbed one from Waimea and just
- 50:34S3: dropped it off or.
- 50:35S4: Yeah.
- 50:36S3: Couple of loaded, loaded ones.
- 50:39S4: It's one of those. Yeah, real tough transplants. A lot
- 50:42S4: colder over here than in Australia.
- 50:44S3: Yeah. They and they were coming onto the campsite at
- 50:46S3: night time. There's wallaby poo everywhere. Yeah. And some of
- 50:48S3: the girls that got up to go for a wee
- 50:50S3: in the middle of the night were like, oh, there's
- 50:51S3: a giant rat. And the dad was like, it's probably
- 50:53S3: wallaby and come out and chase them off. Crazy. Yeah.
- 50:56S3: Not good. They're just trying to figure out a way
- 50:58S3: to cull them all at the moment. I think, hey,
- 51:00S3: that'll do for Tuesday. Betty boys back on Rock night tonight. Metallica,
- 51:04S3: Linkin Park, blind spot all lined up for you in
- 51:06S3: a few moments. We'll be back in tomorrow afternoon from three.
- 51:09S3: Have a fantastic Tuesday evening. Paul Murray Hooroo.
