- 0:05Speaker 1: My name is Dshathosar, and I'm a baseball writer for
- 0:08Speaker 1: Fox Sports as well as the chapter chairman in New York.
- 0:12Speaker 1: It's my pleasure to welcome you here tonight.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I want to say this, no matter where you come from,
- 0:18Speaker 2: no matter how long the road feels, no matter how
- 0:20Speaker 2: many times you hear not yet or not possible, keep going,
- 0:24Speaker 2: bet on your work, trust the process, and don't let
- 0:26Speaker 2: anyone else to find your ceiling. I'm here right now
- 0:29Speaker 2: because I don't understand the word can't.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Yeah, the Brewers contingent was going to be here tonight
- 0:34Speaker 3: but couldn't because we're spending on money and lowering the
- 0:39Speaker 3: soap dispensers in the locker room. Because we just picked
- 0:42Speaker 3: up one of your prospects, Jet Williams. He's like five
- 0:44Speaker 3: to five, So how we roll?
- 0:46Speaker 4: You know, I've been in this town a long time
- 0:48Speaker 4: and doing him and I know you two times and
- 0:50Speaker 4: then you go to two time MVP and all that stuff,
- 0:53Speaker 4: three time and everything like that.
- 0:55Speaker 5: But don't get too big for your to be pinstracked,
- 0:57Speaker 5: because this is my town. Okay, this is my town.
- 1:00Speaker 5: I just want you to know that a lot of
- 1:01Speaker 5: you save up to come to one game risk kind
- 1:03Speaker 5: of hit on the head.
- 1:03Speaker 2: You guys save up to come to one game to
- 1:05Speaker 2: watch us play, watch me play, and I just that's
- 1:08Speaker 2: what's about.
- 1:08Speaker 5: I want to give you guys the best and put
- 1:10Speaker 5: on a show for you.
- 1:11Speaker 6: Congratulations to all of you, and do you have achievements, especially
- 1:15Speaker 6: to the eighty six Mids team. I now know the
- 1:18Speaker 6: feeling of what it's like to become a Motor champion
- 1:22Speaker 6: and it's great.
- 1:25Speaker 7: For a rookie Catcher thought he was gonna be a
- 1:27Speaker 7: hockey player. Not bad way to go, Drake. You're in
- 1:30Speaker 7: the respect to your teammates, trust so much, your pictures.
- 1:32Speaker 7: They actually gave you a nickname. And I don't know
- 1:34Speaker 7: if people know this, but his nickname is the Hammer.
- 1:36Speaker 7: I'm gonna have to let you explain why it's not
- 1:38Speaker 7: what you think. But we'll let Drake explain that when
- 1:42Speaker 7: he comes up here.
- 1:44Speaker 8: Wow, what a night.
- 1:45Speaker 5: What a night.
- 1:46Speaker 9: Now, let's recap it and then we'll talk about some
- 1:49Speaker 9: Mets and Yanks a little bit later too, with d
- 1:51Speaker 9: shit Tozar who's joining us right now, who did a
- 1:53Speaker 9: fantastic job hosting on Saturday the BBWAA Awards. The New
- 1:59Speaker 9: York Chapter the gala at the Hill in New York
- 2:02Speaker 9: City was just so good. So Star started Disha, great job.
- 2:06Speaker 8: How was thank you?
- 2:07Speaker 10: Thank you? I appreciate that.
- 2:08Speaker 1: It was really cool. It's actually cool to watch those
- 2:10Speaker 1: highlights back in that form after kind of posting the
- 2:13Speaker 1: whole thing. Still catching my breath. But this is definitely
- 2:17Speaker 1: one of the best dinners even I've been a part
- 2:19Speaker 1: of ever attended. I've attended like five of these now,
- 2:21Speaker 1: and it's just you know, once the players actually make
- 2:25Speaker 1: the commitment to come, it ends up being a great dinner.
- 2:28Speaker 1: But this time, everyone also brought their sense of humor,
- 2:31Speaker 1: so I think that kind of really put it over
- 2:33Speaker 1: the top. And that speech from Schemes was amazing. It
- 2:37Speaker 1: was really inspiring. And then a lot of those presenters
- 2:40Speaker 1: and award winners just were really funny, and I think
- 2:42Speaker 1: that's that's kind of a sense of what we needed
- 2:45Speaker 1: right now, right keep it light, keep it moving before
- 2:47Speaker 1: the snowstorm, and everyone brought their a game and that
- 2:50Speaker 1: made for a great dinner.
- 2:51Speaker 10: It was a really great night.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Normally we have you on and we're going to ask
- 2:55Speaker 4: about the Mets and the Yankees coming up, But were
- 2:57Speaker 4: you nervous because for people don't know how you hosted,
- 3:01Speaker 4: and hosting you were the MC whatever you want to
- 3:05Speaker 4: call it, Like you were up there the entire time.
- 3:08Speaker 4: You had to keep your keep it short because the
- 3:11Speaker 4: snow was coming and everybody was afraid about the snow,
- 3:14Speaker 4: even though we all got out by seven in the morning.
- 3:17Speaker 5: But were you nervous? Were you nervous and would you
- 3:21Speaker 5: enjoy doing it again?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Oh to that second question, undred percent, which is a
- 3:26Speaker 1: good thing because I get another one of these. But
- 3:29Speaker 1: the day of I really wasn't nervous, And I think
- 3:31Speaker 1: that's because leading up to it, I was over prepared,
- 3:34Speaker 1: which is exactly where I wanted to be. I was
- 3:37Speaker 1: stressed for weeks before. My brother like right after the
- 3:40Speaker 1: dinner was like, it's good to have you back, Like
- 3:42Speaker 1: you were not the same person this last week because
- 3:44Speaker 1: I was just really trying to hone it and focus
- 3:46Speaker 1: so that the day of the event I could actually
- 3:48Speaker 1: enjoy it and really try to be present and take
- 3:51Speaker 1: it all in, because I do not take this lightly.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I mean, there are so few writers that even get
- 3:57Speaker 1: to be a part of the BBWA alone get to
- 4:00Speaker 1: host it, so be a chapter chair and get to
- 4:04Speaker 1: host it. That way so day of event, I was
- 4:06Speaker 1: surprised at at not being nervous, but definitely leading up
- 4:09Speaker 1: to it, there was a mixed bag of emotions there,
- 4:13Speaker 1: all good.
- 4:13Speaker 11: Stuff, allga Zeff well deserved. Now I want to get
- 4:17Speaker 11: on some topics. I want to talk a little about
- 4:19Speaker 11: the Mets here, Freddie Peralta. Now the pitching depth is
- 4:22Speaker 11: getting there. The Mets have a really really good top end.
- 4:26Speaker 11: Start to hear this kind of solidifies a little bit
- 4:28Speaker 11: of what they want. And now do you see this
- 4:30Speaker 11: being one of the top rotations in the league moving forward?
- 4:35Speaker 10: I think it has the potential to be.
- 4:36Speaker 1: They have a super high ceiling, especially now with Baralta.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Like you mentioned, they've needed an a since de Gram
- 4:42Speaker 1: left for the Rangers, so this was way way, way
- 4:45Speaker 1: overdue just to have that kind of reliable arm leading them.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And then I think David Sterns the other day at
- 4:52Speaker 1: the introduction for Boba Schett made a good point in
- 4:55Speaker 1: that there are actually a lot of potential ases in
- 4:59Speaker 1: this and I think that goes back to that super
- 5:02Speaker 1: high ceiling. Lac Lane we saw he had the potential
- 5:05Speaker 1: to be an ace. We've seen Manaya bnace before, We've
- 5:08Speaker 1: seen Senga Bna's and his rookie year, and then there's
- 5:11Speaker 1: good depth there with Peterson and Holmes. The flip side
- 5:14Speaker 1: of that is there's a lot of risk, and I
- 5:16Speaker 1: think that part of it hasn't changed from this year
- 5:19Speaker 1: to the way that the Mets started the season last year.
- 5:22Speaker 1: If all goes right, great, but if it doesn't, where
- 5:25Speaker 1: are they going to turn to? And then even their death,
- 5:28Speaker 1: they're counting on guys who are young Jonah Toong. I
- 5:32Speaker 1: think one person that is kind of getting slept on
- 5:35Speaker 1: is Christian Scott. He had Tommy John that hybrid surgery
- 5:39Speaker 1: September twenty twenty four. He missed the entire last season,
- 5:43Speaker 1: but now he's ready to go. He's going to be
- 5:45Speaker 1: a major part of spring training right as soon as
- 5:48Speaker 1: camp starts.
- 5:49Speaker 10: So that's another.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Risk though, right he was solid in his debut in
- 5:54Speaker 1: nine starts right before he had the surgery, but is
- 5:57Speaker 1: he going.
- 5:57Speaker 10: To bounce back?
- 5:58Speaker 1: So of course there's question marks rotation. But I think
- 6:01Speaker 1: the potential here is great for the Mets, and there's
- 6:05Speaker 1: there's still underlying concern over the course of of course
- 6:07Speaker 1: the long season DCA.
- 6:10Speaker 4: You're saying that they pretty much built the rotation like
- 6:13Speaker 4: they built it last year, with a lot of hope
- 6:15Speaker 4: and wishes and Freddy. So it's yeah, because I getting
- 6:20Speaker 4: rescerated by Mets fans. You are a great writer. You're
- 6:23Speaker 4: talking about the Mets. Is there a need for the
- 6:27Speaker 4: Mets front office to change their approach because any team
- 6:32Speaker 4: you said, any team has issues.
- 6:34Speaker 5: Oh, we don't know what's going to happen.
- 6:35Speaker 4: But they're going back into the season with hopes and
- 6:38Speaker 4: wishes and Freddy Peralta.
- 6:42Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I don't know about change their approach necessarily. This is
- 6:46Speaker 1: a huge change. I think even them getting Peralta and
- 6:48Speaker 1: starting the season with the ace, there was a moment
- 6:51Speaker 1: there where if they hadn't pulled this off, then it
- 6:53Speaker 1: definitely would have been we can talk about changing an approach,
- 6:57Speaker 1: but they've needed a front end starter for a long time,
- 6:59Speaker 1: and they knew that they're not living in La la
- 7:02Speaker 1: land over there and not acknowledging those concerns and weaknesses
- 7:05Speaker 1: of their pitching staff. I think if the plan is,
- 7:08Speaker 1: you know, get this step together, see what you have
- 7:11Speaker 1: in camp, put your best foot forward, regardless of injuries
- 7:14Speaker 1: up until basically making it to the trade deadline and
- 7:18Speaker 1: then seeing who becomes available, potentially needing another starter there.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I think that's where I'd like to see the change
- 7:24Speaker 1: in approach a little bit, is just really filling the
- 7:27Speaker 1: needs at the trade deadline and not wasting that opportunity.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I think we've seen the Mets kind of go back
- 7:34Speaker 1: and forth, not really being willing.
- 7:35Speaker 10: To push their chips across the table.
- 7:37Speaker 1: They finally did parting with two top prospects, especially Brandon
- 7:41Speaker 1: Sprote for Peralta. That kind of that trend has to continue,
- 7:45Speaker 1: and I think that's that's especially what I'm looking for
- 7:48Speaker 1: at least in the middle of the season and going
- 7:50Speaker 1: towards the second half eventually.
- 7:54Speaker 9: All right, let's do a little live sponsor plug this
- 7:58Speaker 9: episode presented by Omaha Steaks.

- 8:36Speaker 11: I'm glad we didn't do this when I was fasting

- 8:51Speaker 4: about the premium protein. There's not anything added to it,
- 8:55Speaker 4: so it has like a longer shelf life. And I
- 8:57Speaker 4: would never say, like a company that has like chicken
- 9:01Speaker 4: and filet and different steaks and the shrimp cocktail, that
- 9:05Speaker 4: I would talk about their burgers. I'm telling you, if
- 9:09Speaker 4: you order one thing, order the burgers that they have
- 9:13Speaker 4: on earthink they're the Wagoo beef burgers. I'm not one
- 9:17Speaker 4: hundred percent on that, but the burgers that they send
- 9:20Speaker 4: you are so good. They're like they're soft, they don't shrink,

- 9:48Speaker 4: Do you feel like Mets fans are getting some mixed
- 9:50Speaker 4: messaging when you hear run prevention, run prevention and then
- 9:54Speaker 4: they go get Boba Schett to play a position he's
- 9:57Speaker 4: never played, Jorge Polonko to play a position he's never played,
- 10:00Speaker 4: and Marcus Simeon's a good defender, maybe he's thirty seven?
- 10:06Speaker 5: Is there is?
- 10:07Speaker 4: But with Boba Schett, do they feel like it was,
- 10:11Speaker 4: you know, a mixed messaging because it's like, hey, we
- 10:14Speaker 4: are worried about run prevention crap.
- 10:16Speaker 5: We need somebody that can really hit.
- 10:19Speaker 10: Yeah, definitely a little bit.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I don't know if I'd go so far as to
- 10:22Speaker 1: say mixed messaging, because I think they're focused on it
- 10:26Speaker 1: for sure. The Met's on run prevention and how that
- 10:28Speaker 1: really was a detriment to their season last year. Part
- 10:31Speaker 1: of it and their plan of going out and getting
- 10:34Speaker 1: two guys like you mentioned Bishett and Polanca who have
- 10:37Speaker 1: never played those positions before. David sterns acknowledged a couple
- 10:41Speaker 1: of weeks ago that yeah, they're going to be in
- 10:43Speaker 1: a learning curve. He's not going to deny that I
- 10:46Speaker 1: think that learning curve is going to be tough this year,
- 10:49Speaker 1: especially because they're not going to be a full team
- 10:52Speaker 1: during spring training, and that's when a lot of this
- 10:54Speaker 1: chemistry forms, especially for the infield. They have two guys
- 10:58Speaker 1: up in the middle who they feel really good about,
- 11:01Speaker 1: Lindor and Simeon. Lindor is going to be in the
- 11:03Speaker 1: WBC and he's going to not be at spring training
- 11:06Speaker 1: for a little bit. Polanco has been working out at
- 11:08Speaker 1: first he says he's looking okay, and Carlos Mendez and
- 11:11Speaker 1: the manager mentioned Polanco specifically as someone he is going
- 11:15Speaker 1: to be looking out for to make sure he's transitioning
- 11:17Speaker 1: okay to first.
- 11:19Speaker 10: Bishett really impressed.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Me even in the World Series, I mean moving from
- 11:23Speaker 1: shortstop to second base. And then in his introduction his
- 11:26Speaker 1: press conference, he said, I put my ego aside right
- 11:28Speaker 1: then and I'm ready.
- 11:29Speaker 10: To do whatever it takes. These guys are all super athletic,
- 11:33Speaker 10: they're all shortstops. The Cadres tried this a.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Couple of years ago, filling their infield with shortstops, and
- 11:39Speaker 1: they ended up in the top ten in the league
- 11:41Speaker 1: in terms of fueling metrics. So there's there's some opportunity there.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I think maybe they're underplaying a little bit. How much
- 11:49Speaker 1: of that adjustment will be. I think the WBC is
- 11:52Speaker 1: getting a little bit in the way of the work
- 11:54Speaker 1: that they're going to need to do.
- 11:56Speaker 11: Okay, let's talk about another play, Luis Robert. They that's
- 12:00Speaker 11: kind of looking for a little lightning in a bottle here,
- 12:02Speaker 11: because health issues, won struggles a little bit, strikeouts, and
- 12:07Speaker 11: we know the defense, like, what are they trying to
- 12:10Speaker 11: get out of him? Is this like we're putting our
- 12:12Speaker 11: money where our mouth is right now and hopefully, you know,
- 12:15Speaker 11: the fruits of the labor can come back and show
- 12:17Speaker 11: queens what he's all about.
- 12:19Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I think this was a really nice pickup for them,
- 12:22Speaker 1: especially because of where the outfield market was this year,
- 12:26Speaker 1: especially after Bellinger went off the board and he went
- 12:28Speaker 1: to the Yankees. Really they needed to look at the
- 12:31Speaker 1: trade market. Another one I had my eye on as
- 12:33Speaker 1: a potential fix there was bust In, but it doesn't
- 12:36Speaker 1: look like he was actually going to be traded at
- 12:39Speaker 1: any point. So with Robert, of course, this is going
- 12:42Speaker 1: to be all about keeping him on the field, and
- 12:45Speaker 1: they are going to have to give him a lot
- 12:46Speaker 1: of rest dayes to kind of manage his workload and
- 12:49Speaker 1: figure out something that works for him. If his back
- 12:52Speaker 1: gets hot and he kind of returns to that twenty
- 12:55Speaker 1: twenty three All star level, then keep him where he
- 12:58Speaker 1: needs to be if his little injured. They actually the
- 13:01Speaker 1: Mets have some versatility there in terms of who they
- 13:04Speaker 1: can slot in at DH, who they can fill in
- 13:07Speaker 1: in the outfield. The Robert they didn't for Louise Rabba.
- 13:10Speaker 1: They didn't give up a lot. They had no space
- 13:12Speaker 1: for Akunya. That's especially why I like it. But again,
- 13:16Speaker 1: this rests on a huge question Margaret is talking to
- 13:19Speaker 1: just now with Eric. Is that another big player here
- 13:22Speaker 1: is going to be potentially Carson Bench and the Mets
- 13:25Speaker 1: have been talking about him all season. They're ready for
- 13:27Speaker 1: him to take the next step. Is he going to
- 13:30Speaker 1: right like there's a lot relying only on that so far.
- 13:34Speaker 1: If they don't make another move to fill in another
- 13:37Speaker 1: outfield spot. In left field, it's a lot of pressure
- 13:39Speaker 1: too for a young kid. So there's I would just
- 13:43Speaker 1: really term all of the hopes and dreams that they
- 13:46Speaker 1: have a lot of high potential. It has to all
- 13:48Speaker 1: go right for the Mets in order for it to
- 13:50Speaker 1: work out.
- 13:51Speaker 4: The Mets are the gift where the guys just like
- 13:54Speaker 4: sitting eating popcorn right now, like, I can't wait. I'm
- 13:56Speaker 4: so excited to watch it because from the beginning all
- 13:59Speaker 4: season to now it's been just theater. So good for
- 14:04Speaker 4: you that you get to follow this team. Will there
- 14:07Speaker 4: be another move? Are the Mets done? In your opinion?
- 14:10Speaker 4: Obviously you can hear anything that David Sterns says, But
- 14:13Speaker 4: do you feel like they're done done?
- 14:16Speaker 1: I do, I really do, especially after that bizarre, crazy
- 14:20Speaker 1: week they had with Bishett Robert Perrault all at once.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Even the sense within the Mets was okay, great, now
- 14:26Speaker 1: we're ready to go, ready for the season, excited, kind
- 14:29Speaker 1: of turning the page. There's going to be of course,
- 14:31Speaker 1: def moves. David Sterns loves to say he's never done,
- 14:34Speaker 1: adding so in that sense, they're not done. But I
- 14:37Speaker 1: think with major players they aren't. And it is insane.
- 14:40Speaker 1: And looking at the lineup that is a really good
- 14:43Speaker 1: looking lineup, and it's so different than last year. It's
- 14:45Speaker 1: going to be a completely different clubhouse. But there's a
- 14:48Speaker 1: lot of excitement there and I think Mets fans, like
- 14:50Speaker 1: you pointed out, have been through a lot. It's been
- 14:52Speaker 1: a long off season getting rid of the core, and
- 14:54Speaker 1: there's actually hope and excitement at the end of it.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Is no one could have even predicted did that they
- 15:00Speaker 1: could pull this off the Met's.
- 15:02Speaker 10: Front office, So props to them.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I think at least you know, it's exciting and they
- 15:06Speaker 1: have a chance, which is where they needed to be.
- 15:08Speaker 4: Right now, we're gonna go from Queen's over to the Bronx.
- 15:12Speaker 4: They signed Bellinger back. Cody Bellinger signs back kind of
- 15:16Speaker 4: was yeah, we kind of knew that was going to
- 15:17Speaker 4: happen since he signed back. What I'm hearing is, oh,
- 15:22Speaker 4: they're running the same team back, But that's the same
- 15:25Speaker 4: team that led the league in runs created plus, So yeah,
- 15:32Speaker 4: is that a bad thing that they're running this team back,
- 15:34Speaker 4: because I don't think this offense is bad. I think
- 15:37Speaker 4: they might be a little short on starting pitching to
- 15:39Speaker 4: start the season, But is it bad that they signed
- 15:42Speaker 4: him back and now they're running the same offense back
- 15:44Speaker 4: which was led the league.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I don't think it's bad. No, especially not with Bellinger back.
- 15:50Speaker 1: And it's funny. I asked Aaron Boone during the Windy meetings.
- 15:53Speaker 1: It was how do you close the gap with the
- 15:56Speaker 1: Blue Jays, especially with how far they went the World
- 15:59Speaker 1: Series the dominant.
- 16:00Speaker 10: They looked like they could take down the.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Dodgers, and he was like, uh, we have the same
- 16:05Speaker 1: record as the Blue Jays in the regular season, is
- 16:07Speaker 1: though both ninety four wins. Looking at that, yes, I
- 16:10Speaker 1: think when we were looking at each series that the
- 16:12Speaker 1: Yankees even matched up with the Blue Jays, they looked
- 16:16Speaker 1: like they were playing a little bit of catch up.
- 16:17Speaker 1: They looked like they were very caught off guard by
- 16:19Speaker 1: how the Blue Jays style of play was just putting
- 16:23Speaker 1: the ball in play. I think they're going to be
- 16:25Speaker 1: different this year, the Yankees, especially within the division, how
- 16:28Speaker 1: they face it, how they're going to focus more on
- 16:31Speaker 1: batting average again, all of this I think is going
- 16:34Speaker 1: to be part of their armle like it was last
- 16:36Speaker 1: year and it was a good offense. I think my
- 16:39Speaker 1: concern definitely goes back to that pitching staff and very
- 16:44Speaker 1: curious how Garrett Cole is going to look coming back,
- 16:46Speaker 1: how Rodona is going to be after going to be
- 16:49Speaker 1: on the injured list to start this season, and Cam Schlitler, right,
- 16:53Speaker 1: is he going to be like the same pitcher we
- 16:56Speaker 1: saw who ended that season dominant and feisty in that
- 16:59Speaker 1: little egg that the Yankees have needed, especially in their rotation.
- 17:03Speaker 1: I think if everything goes right, the Yankees have one
- 17:06Speaker 1: of the best rotations in baseball, no doubt. And Max
- 17:09Speaker 1: Freed too, especially with him stepping up, so they look
- 17:13Speaker 1: in a good position. I understand the conservative the Yankees
- 17:15Speaker 1: fans that they're just running it back, but there's still
- 17:18Speaker 1: one of the dominant teams in the league, and really
- 17:20Speaker 1: the difference is going to be turning it on getting
- 17:22Speaker 1: hot in the playoffs again like they did when they
- 17:26Speaker 1: took the Dodgers to the World Series.
- 17:28Speaker 11: I'm gonna steal question at Kratzy says, are they done
- 17:32Speaker 11: right now? Are they going to try and find somebody
- 17:34Speaker 11: and get another picture, because you know, Rodan Cole and
- 17:39Speaker 11: like these guys Schmid, they're not ready to rock. I
- 17:41Speaker 11: feel like maybe one more starting pitcher or do you
- 17:44Speaker 11: feel like that's It.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Does feel a little bit like I don't know that
- 17:48Speaker 1: they need to make a huge move now for a
- 17:50Speaker 1: starting pitcher unless there were some trade options available. I mean,
- 17:55Speaker 1: like if the Yankees are going to go for someone
- 17:57Speaker 1: like Framber Valdez, I know I wouldn't think so. More
- 18:00Speaker 1: so if the Twins were actually open to letting go
- 18:02Speaker 1: of Joe Ryan, these could be another potentially trade deadline moves,
- 18:06Speaker 1: depending on where their injuries at, where their depth is.
- 18:09Speaker 1: But one thing that is going under the radar is
- 18:11Speaker 1: their acquisition of Brian Weathers.
- 18:13Speaker 10: It's kind of huge.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I mean, he's been really consistent and there's a lot
- 18:16Speaker 1: of upside there too, and I think him just kind
- 18:19Speaker 1: of filling into that. If they hadn't done that, I
- 18:22Speaker 1: would say they definitely need to go get a starter.
- 18:24Speaker 1: This was kind of an under the radar move that's
- 18:26Speaker 1: going classic Brian Cashman move that is going to help
- 18:29Speaker 1: them in the long run, but it's not super splashy
- 18:32Speaker 1: right now where everybody's talking about it. And that was
- 18:35Speaker 1: huge for the pitching staff.
- 18:37Speaker 4: All right, Well you mentioned it for both teams, so
- 18:39Speaker 4: the Mets and the Yankees. You said could be one
- 18:42Speaker 4: of the best rotations in baseball. I feel like that's
- 18:45Speaker 4: being thrown around too much.
- 18:46Speaker 5: Dshan.
- 18:46Speaker 4: I'm not saying it's your fault. I'm saying I see
- 18:49Speaker 4: it all the time on Twitter. Which rotation today, not
- 18:53Speaker 4: when they get rodin back, not if Sanga does which
- 18:57Speaker 4: rotation is better than Mets or the Yankees.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Today currently with Cole on the IL, with Roddan on
- 19:05Speaker 1: the IL, the.
- 19:06Speaker 10: Better rotation is super close.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I think I'll still go with the Yankees just because
- 19:11Speaker 1: they have more proven arms in that rotation, Max Freed
- 19:15Speaker 1: being there as huge.
- 19:16Speaker 10: They have guys who have filled in regularly.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Too many question marks in the Mets rotation for me
- 19:21Speaker 1: to say they're better right now. Like you said, they
- 19:25Speaker 1: both have the potential. This could be flip flopped at
- 19:28Speaker 1: the end of the season if all goes right, but
- 19:30Speaker 1: just the proven numbers versus h I don't know, We'll see,
- 19:34Speaker 1: we need bounce back.
- 19:35Speaker 10: I'm going with the Yankees on this one.
- 19:40Speaker 8: Okay, there you go.
- 19:41Speaker 4: I mean it means the Mets rotation isn't that good,
- 19:44Speaker 4: That's what I'm getting that. Like, I just feel I
- 19:47Speaker 4: just I feel terrible for Mets fans because they went
- 19:49Speaker 4: out and got that Ace and right now the Yankees
- 19:53Speaker 4: rotation is depleted, beleaguered, whatever you're gonna say. And Desha
- 19:58Speaker 4: still thinks that they're better. Agree Like I would agree
- 20:01Speaker 4: with you, and that's not to me. That's not a
- 20:03Speaker 4: good place for the Mets to.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Be Well, the difference right between those two is that
- 20:07Speaker 1: the Yankees have multiple aces proven aces. The Mets have
- 20:13Speaker 1: multiple potential ases. They've been aces in the past. Are
- 20:17Speaker 1: they going to be that level?
- 20:19Speaker 10: Again?
- 20:19Speaker 1: Nobody knows. You can count on guys in the Yankees rotation.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I mean, we can say there's doubt about Garrett Cole,
- 20:26Speaker 1: there's not. He's Garrett Cole. When he comes back, he's
- 20:29Speaker 1: going to be some semblance of his old self. And
- 20:32Speaker 1: Max Fried phenomenal he had just did so well to
- 20:35Speaker 1: New York and Cam Schlitzler is being talked about in
- 20:38Speaker 1: the same way that Nolan MacLean is being talked about.
- 20:40Speaker 1: So I think in that way it really just goes
- 20:43Speaker 1: down to sure it could happen. I think there should
- 20:47Speaker 1: be more trust in young guys with the Mets. Maybe
- 20:51Speaker 1: not as much doubt as we're casting on them, but
- 20:54Speaker 1: it's hard not to write. So I think, to me,
- 20:57Speaker 1: it just comes down to proven versus maybe and then
- 21:00Speaker 1: maybe is not a bad place to be. But we've
- 21:03Speaker 1: seen a lot of maybes in the meds these last
- 21:05Speaker 1: couple of years.
- 21:07Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, you were on with us almost a
- 21:08Speaker 9: year ago and you nailed it. You said, yeah, it's
- 21:11Speaker 9: fine for now, but let's see what it looks like
- 21:13Speaker 9: later in the year. And it looked like they were
- 21:15Speaker 9: calling on guys that they shouldn't be calling on yet
- 21:18Speaker 9: to save their season. So it's a good call. Yeah,
- 21:20Speaker 9: I think it's better than it was last year. I'm
- 21:22Speaker 9: a huge Freddy Peultan.
- 21:23Speaker 8: I think we all are.
- 21:24Speaker 9: But I understand the point there from Kratz. You'd like
- 21:27Speaker 9: to see one more arm add it. Dsha, this was great,
- 21:30Speaker 9: thank you for joining us, but again, congrats on an
- 21:33Speaker 9: excellent event and a great hosting job. It was super fun,
- 21:36Speaker 9: like the pace was perfect, the one liners, everything was great.
- 21:41Speaker 9: So really enjoyed it and so did the whole audience. Right,
- 21:44Speaker 9: we had a great live streaming audience going there, So
- 21:46Speaker 9: thanks again, Dsha.
- 21:47Speaker 8: Good to see you.
- 21:47Speaker 1: It's great, Thank you so much. Guys, happy to be
- 21:50Speaker 1: on anytime.
- 21:51Speaker 8: Joel Sherman's joining us right now. New York Post MLB Network.
- 21:54Speaker 13: Studied down No, no, not at all.
- 21:56Speaker 9: Brought Yeah, and hey, I mean this is a really
- 21:59Speaker 9: cool night, of course for the New York Baseball writers.
- 22:02Speaker 9: But we were just saying, how this is about as
- 22:05Speaker 9: good as it gets in terms of Star Wars power, tonight.
- 22:08Speaker 13: Yeah, no, I love this dinner. I've been involved in
- 22:11Speaker 13: it in some way for what are the years, and
- 22:17Speaker 13: ken this first time in like about ten years, I
- 22:20Speaker 13: didn't get to present something. I'm glad you got it.
- 22:22Speaker 13: Allow me to drink earlier. But yeah, I like vert all.
- 22:27Speaker 13: I like you that the awards are kind of like
- 22:29Speaker 13: as opposed to many awards, they last a week when
- 22:32Speaker 13: we announce them because because really the MVP and the
- 22:35Speaker 13: cy Young's in particular are so big that the rookies
- 22:37Speaker 13: and the managers would be swallowed whole if we did
- 22:39Speaker 13: it on one night, right, like, so like you get
- 22:42Speaker 13: the day for the managers, you get the day for
- 22:44Speaker 13: the rookies, then the size, then the MVP. I like that,
- 22:47Speaker 13: And then that the players still care to come here
- 22:50Speaker 13: where again being romantic, where Babe Ruth came, where lu
- 22:53Speaker 13: Garrett came, where every great player of the last century.
- 22:57Speaker 13: It's the one hundred first dinner has come to accept
- 23:00Speaker 13: the wards. I mean, we've come a long way. They
- 23:03Speaker 13: used to put on skits. Can you imagine we were
- 23:04Speaker 13: still trying to be funny and do that now? But uh, yeah, no,
- 23:08Speaker 13: it's a great night.
- 23:10Speaker 8: Oh you would have loved that Aja part of.
- 23:14Speaker 13: And all you have to do is threaten a snowstorm,
- 23:16Speaker 13: and we did it in two forty five, right because
- 23:18Speaker 13: this thing could drag sometimes.
- 23:20Speaker 8: Bitchclock on this one with the storm. What was I mean?
- 23:23Speaker 9: I don't want to say favorite moment, but a notable
- 23:25Speaker 9: moment for you that you really like. We were talking
- 23:27Speaker 9: about maybe a speech you like or somebody up there
- 23:29Speaker 9: that you were excited to see.
- 23:29Speaker 13: I love that Otani did his thing in English again,
- 23:32Speaker 13: which was the second time, the first, the first time.
- 23:36Speaker 13: I don't want to get this wrong. I believe he's
- 23:37Speaker 13: come to the dinner four of the five times he
- 23:39Speaker 13: was honored Rookie of the Year and three of his MVPs.
- 23:41Speaker 12: I think last year was the only and one of
- 23:45Speaker 12: them he did it in Japanese with a translator and
- 23:47Speaker 12: said the next time, I, if I ever make it
- 23:50Speaker 12: here again, I will do it in English. And he
- 23:52Speaker 12: has done it now in English, and I thought this
- 23:54Speaker 12: was much more even expansive than last time, which is
- 23:56Speaker 12: impressive for somebody who's failed every language you could fail
- 24:00Speaker 12: when they were in school.
- 24:01Speaker 13: So I thought that was great. The eighty six team
- 24:05Speaker 13: here means so much like those guys weren't up there
- 24:08Speaker 13: very long, but it's the last met champion, it is
- 24:12Speaker 13: forty years. It just means so much to that group,
- 24:16Speaker 13: that fan base, which is forty percent of the city
- 24:19Speaker 13: probably you know, if you start thinking about the demographic
- 24:23Speaker 13: of it all. I always think that the good guy
- 24:27Speaker 13: for us matters a great deal. This is our chapter.
- 24:29Speaker 13: We generally, if you were at our meeting in November,
- 24:33Speaker 13: nothing gets discussed more at our meeting, then who's the
- 24:37Speaker 13: good guy? Because it matters so much to us? Because
- 24:39Speaker 13: I do mean this sincerely to the two ballplayers who
- 24:41Speaker 13: are here. We recognize there's generally an in your space
- 24:46Speaker 13: feel to this. We recognize we're talking to you at
- 24:48Speaker 13: bad moments often like this is whatever, and how professional
- 24:53Speaker 13: almost everyone is. And then we want to decide who
- 24:56Speaker 13: are the people who go beyond above and beyond. And
- 24:59Speaker 13: Clay Holmes and two different stops in New York went
- 25:02Speaker 13: above and beyond for us, that guy is like on
- 25:05Speaker 13: his worst days, and I mean there was some bad
- 25:07Speaker 13: moments in twenty four when he lost his job. That
- 25:10Speaker 13: guy was accountable, but more thancountable, not accountable in a
- 25:14Speaker 13: cliched way, in an interesting introspective way discussing his successes
- 25:19Speaker 13: and failures. He's an impressive guy. So I personally, I
- 25:23Speaker 13: think our chapter it means a lot to an end.
- 25:25Speaker 13: I know it means a lot to me because I
- 25:26Speaker 13: do honestly with the two players here, I get it.
- 25:30Speaker 13: That's not the greatest time in the world to be
- 25:32Speaker 13: asked a question fifteen minutes after a bad moment, and
- 25:35Speaker 13: guys who handle it professionally and well, I'm always appreciable.
- 25:38Speaker 14: And on top of all that, Laura Albanez from Newsday
- 25:41Speaker 14: was the person who presented that award, and she mentioned
- 25:46Speaker 14: from Abby Yes from The Daily News that Abby had
- 25:49Speaker 14: mentioned that she asked Holmes to show her his grips yes,
- 25:54Speaker 14: and Holmes did it without a question, And to Abby
- 25:57Speaker 14: as a woman, it meant a lot because that's not
- 26:00Speaker 14: always something that might be done. And Laura, of course
- 26:03Speaker 14: is writer for Newsday, the chairman of the chapter. Right now,
- 26:06Speaker 14: Disha writes for Fox Sports dot Com. And it was
- 26:09Speaker 14: a big night for them to finally be kind of
- 26:12Speaker 14: in the limelight. And it's tough for women in this business.
- 26:16Speaker 14: It's tough covering baseball and everybody's comment things and then women.
- 26:20Speaker 8: Don't know it.
- 26:21Speaker 14: No they were at their benuts off and to see
- 26:23Speaker 14: them recognize like that, to me, that was special.
- 26:26Speaker 5: Ken.
- 26:27Speaker 13: Unfortunately, you and I are old enough, right, we remember
- 26:29Speaker 13: when it was even much tougher for them. I go
- 26:31Speaker 13: back long enough. I was the vice chairman for Claire Smith,
- 26:35Speaker 13: who I'm glad was here tonight in honor tonight and
- 26:37Speaker 13: recognized as the first female chairman. She was great. I
- 26:42Speaker 13: followed her as I was her vice chairman. Then I
- 26:44Speaker 13: was the chairman I think in ninety seven and ninety eight,
- 26:47Speaker 13: like so, she was ninety five ninety six and she
- 26:51Speaker 13: was a real trailblazer. And I just think, can you know,
- 26:54Speaker 13: you work with a lot of women at the athletic
- 26:56Speaker 13: I think they're kind of among If they're not the
- 26:59Speaker 13: best and brighter, they're certain among the best of what
- 27:01Speaker 13: we're doing here, you know. So yeah, I I yes,
- 27:07Speaker 13: So it was good night. And by the way, Steph
- 27:08Speaker 13: Epstein would have been the chair person, but you gave
- 27:11Speaker 13: birth to a child, so she had to give up
- 27:14Speaker 13: the chairmanship.
- 27:16Speaker 8: That's cool.
- 27:17Speaker 9: Well, uh if I can, I mean, obviously you're you're
- 27:20Speaker 9: covering the Mets and the Yanks. I think the timing too,
- 27:23Speaker 9: with this audience it's cool, right, you're in the off season.
- 27:26Speaker 9: It just so happens that forget the Winter Meetings. The
- 27:28Speaker 9: Mets just did everything in the past week. So I
- 27:30Speaker 9: mean I came, didn't they the family business here and
- 27:35Speaker 9: you get, you know, some of the jokes and things
- 27:37Speaker 9: mixed in throughout the evening. You've also got some you know,
- 27:40Speaker 9: Yankees players that are now Mets the whole deal. But
- 27:42Speaker 9: your thought on like the week really, I could say
- 27:44Speaker 9: in baseball here for the Mets and the Yankees they
- 27:47Speaker 9: brought Bellinger back, but just the pulse because there are
- 27:49Speaker 9: a lot of fans here of course in New York
- 27:51Speaker 9: that we're excited.
- 27:52Speaker 13: Yes, So so it's something you know again, I was
- 27:57Speaker 13: I wanted to point out Aja and and Uh and Cratzy.
- 28:01Speaker 13: Nobody's better at what at this than Ken, right, like
- 28:04Speaker 13: what we do, Like he's he's a way and Ken
- 28:09Speaker 13: and I talk Offen I counted as a friend and
- 28:12Speaker 13: somebody I look up to in the business. And one
- 28:14Speaker 13: of the things I know I was talking to him
- 28:15Speaker 13: about it the Winter meetings is like, I think this
- 28:18Speaker 13: is a social media thing more than anything where I
- 28:21Speaker 13: have to ask people who are overreacting in real time like,
- 28:24Speaker 13: are you dumb or you're just playing dumb because it's
- 28:27Speaker 13: such a good lane to be in for attention. Now, Like,
- 28:30Speaker 13: do you actually think, like David Stearns and Steve Cohen
- 28:32Speaker 13: don't know what the issues are with the Mets, And
- 28:34Speaker 13: do you actually think they're not going to act at
- 28:36Speaker 13: some point spring training even with everything is still two
- 28:39Speaker 13: weeks away, the regular season is eight weeks away. The
- 28:42Speaker 13: July thirty first trade deadline is forever away, and like
- 28:45Speaker 13: the idea that they weren't going to act at some
- 28:48Speaker 13: point definitively and by doing something that at least would
- 28:52Speaker 13: make you go, yeah, I believe in that if like
- 28:54Speaker 13: the Dodgers didn't exist, I could see them winning the
- 28:57Speaker 13: National League and maybe they will win it anyway. You know,
- 28:59Speaker 13: the Dodger this almost lost the World Series this year,
- 29:01Speaker 13: They almost lost to the Padres the year before, so
- 29:03Speaker 13: who knows. And I kind of feel the same way
- 29:05Speaker 13: about the Yankees, where like the Yankees are doing nothing
- 29:07Speaker 13: and I'm like, you know, they build big casinos in Vegas,
- 29:10Speaker 13: the number two over under team, and the whole sport
- 29:12Speaker 13: is the Yankees behind the Dodgers, Like everyone would like
- 29:15Speaker 13: to be doing their version of nothing.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Now.
- 29:17Speaker 13: Again, I'm a pretty critical guy. I hold them all
- 29:19Speaker 13: to high accounts. These are two teams that are actually trying.
- 29:23Speaker 13: If you're trying to keep up with the Dodgers, you're
- 29:25Speaker 13: probably gonna fail. Players want to play there. It's like
- 29:28Speaker 13: you can't move the Pacific Ocean here. You can't move
- 29:31Speaker 13: Hollywood here, you can't move the weather here. Steve Cohn
- 29:33Speaker 13: has a lot of money. He can't affect geography like,
- 29:36Speaker 13: and it has impacted where players want to play like
- 29:40Speaker 13: quite frankly, Kyle Tucker went to a place where he's
- 29:45Speaker 13: looking at this as a two year contract. Where's the
- 29:48Speaker 13: place where for the next two years I could perform
- 29:50Speaker 13: great to go back out in the market. And the decision,
- 29:52Speaker 13: by the way, the decision I think everyone would make,
- 29:54Speaker 13: I'll do the Dodgers instead of anybody else. Jo I'm gonna.
- 29:58Speaker 14: Interrupt you here, give you kind words because you're too
- 30:01Speaker 14: kind talking about me. Joel wrote a column it's going
- 30:03Speaker 14: to be in tomorrow's paper, it's online now about the Mets.
- 30:07Speaker 14: Things that didn't happen, that could have happened. Joe, why
- 30:10Speaker 14: don't you give us a little bit of a preview
- 30:13Speaker 14: of that? For people who might not have read it yet,
- 30:15Speaker 14: and you should read it because it was absolutely fascinating.
- 30:18Speaker 13: So they they the most important thing I learned over
- 30:23Speaker 13: the like the last four or five weeks was the
- 30:26Speaker 13: key thing for their offseason, if you keep asking their people,
- 30:29Speaker 13: was being able to trade Nemo like they believed. Because
- 30:32Speaker 13: he was owed over one hundred million for five years
- 30:34Speaker 13: and he had a complete no trade clause, they couldn't
- 30:37Speaker 13: do it, and they were horrified of the idea of
- 30:39Speaker 13: Nemo and Sodo in the corner outfields already problematic defensively,
- 30:43Speaker 13: and not just about twenty twenty six, twenty twenty seven, eight,
- 30:46Speaker 13: twenty nine thirty. What happens when we have to move
- 30:49Speaker 13: both to DH again. Steve Connen has a lot of money,
- 30:51Speaker 13: can't get to DH's at one time. I don't think
- 30:54Speaker 13: they're going to pass that role. So they saw trading
- 30:58Speaker 13: Nemo as the lynchpin to their off season, and when
- 31:01Speaker 13: they were able to do it, Simeon work for them
- 31:04Speaker 13: because even though it's a little more per year, it's shorter,
- 31:07Speaker 13: it's three years, it's a position they didn't have completely filled,
- 31:09Speaker 13: and it's defensive, which they wanted to get better at.
- 31:11Speaker 13: Run prevention, which was the thing. And once that position
- 31:15Speaker 13: opened up, and once it was clear that Alonzo wasn't
- 31:17Speaker 13: coming back, they pushed on Kyle Schwarp are harder than
- 31:21Speaker 13: people realize, Like, like, the Orioles got a lot of
- 31:24Speaker 13: love then. And I do think there was a window
- 31:25Speaker 13: where the Orioles could have actually signed the player if
- 31:28Speaker 13: they pushed harder. They didn't. The Mets were wanted to
- 31:31Speaker 13: do four years. It was the only player they would
- 31:33Speaker 13: think of as a DH that they would do it
- 31:36Speaker 13: because the plan was for Alonzo to DH five out
- 31:38Speaker 13: of every seven games. They had talked to him about
- 31:40Speaker 13: it and he said okay, because he thought at that
- 31:43Speaker 13: point the Mets might be the only place I get
- 31:45Speaker 13: the money, so I better agree to whatever the rules
- 31:47Speaker 13: of the game are. So there was that, and so
- 31:50Speaker 13: they and that's also when they decided Tucker, let's stay
- 31:53Speaker 13: on Tucker, push Tucker. And they were always worried that
- 31:57Speaker 13: they'd make a number and the Dodgers would beat it.
- 31:59Speaker 13: They made a number, the Dodgers beat it, and they
- 32:03Speaker 13: then pivoted hard and got the set.
- 32:05Speaker 8: Wow, that's fascinating.
- 32:07Speaker 13: Yeah, that's but Nimo, like I like, like that's why,
- 32:10Speaker 13: like one of those ones where you begin to report.
- 32:12Speaker 13: It's why it's always worthwhile. Don't ask one person, ask
- 32:14Speaker 13: ten people. How many of the ten people say something
- 32:17Speaker 13: to you like yeah, like Nimo was the key to
- 32:19Speaker 13: the off season, and you're like, oh, and so she
- 32:21Speaker 13: explained to me how the dominoes work, and the dominoes
- 32:24Speaker 13: all fell right for them, because even Simeon for three
- 32:28Speaker 13: years over at Second Dase, over Nimo in a corner
- 32:31Speaker 13: ralphel for five years, regardless of what the money is
- 32:33Speaker 13: for Simeon or how much Simy and I have regressed offensively,
- 32:37Speaker 13: it just began to open pathways for them that they
- 32:42Speaker 13: didn't quite frankly think we're going to open because of
- 32:45Speaker 13: the no trade and how much money he was owed.
- 32:47Speaker 9: Well, I'd say there's two things that stand out from
- 32:50Speaker 9: what you're saying that fans might either not understand or
- 32:53Speaker 9: agree with. One is Nimo's defense right definitely not great
- 32:58Speaker 9: or took a step back, But like maybe internally they're
- 33:01Speaker 9: thinking worse than what the public is thinking.
- 33:04Speaker 13: So so Nimo is such a fascinating case. So I
- 33:08Speaker 13: watched this happen with two players who were met players.
- 33:10Speaker 13: One was Zach Wheeler and one was branded Nimo. If
- 33:13Speaker 13: you showed up at a certain time, you were like,
- 33:15Speaker 13: these guys are brittle, they never play. And then Zach
- 33:18Speaker 13: Wheeler figured out how to make thirty starts a year
- 33:20Speaker 13: and pitch in October. Nimo used to not be able
- 33:23Speaker 13: to play. Now he plays one hundred and fifty five
- 33:25Speaker 13: to one hundred and sixty two games a year. I
- 33:27Speaker 13: think the problem is he plays one hundred and fifty
- 33:29Speaker 13: five to one hundred and sixty two games a year,
- 33:32Speaker 13: and to play and play the way he plays, which
- 33:35Speaker 13: is a leg oriented game, even though he's you know,
- 33:38Speaker 13: started pulling the ball, accepted the strikeouts. He breaks down
- 33:42Speaker 13: at a higher level than he used to, but plays
- 33:45Speaker 13: through it in a way that he used to not
- 33:47Speaker 13: be able to play through it. And so that was
- 33:49Speaker 13: like the bad news within the good news. Wow, he
- 33:51Speaker 13: figured out how to get on the field. Oh no,
- 33:54Speaker 13: he figured out how to get on the field, and
- 33:56Speaker 13: he's breaking down. And again, I think I said this earlier.
- 33:59Speaker 13: It was twenty twenty six problem, But what about twenty
- 34:01Speaker 13: twenty seven, twenty eight, twenty nine, thirty. That's what they
- 34:05Speaker 13: were into him for, and they were really worried about
- 34:07Speaker 13: the physicality moving forward?
- 34:09Speaker 8: Can iy one other pushback?
- 34:10Speaker 3: Then?
- 34:10Speaker 9: Is DH so interested in shore we worried about Soto
- 34:14Speaker 9: that would have eventually been to DH's That's what they
- 34:16Speaker 9: offered four.
- 34:17Speaker 13: They believe that Sodo could hang in like like again,
- 34:22Speaker 13: I would love to know what the players think of this,
- 34:24Speaker 13: because last year Sodo hit with a coach he really respected,
- 34:28Speaker 13: Like I think SODA's one of these guys. If you
- 34:29Speaker 13: hear something from a coach that he thinks is nonsense,
- 34:32Speaker 13: he shuts down, starts scrolling his phone, and never looks
- 34:34Speaker 13: at the guy again. And I think that happened with
- 34:36Speaker 13: their hitting group last year, but didn't happen with Antoine
- 34:39Speaker 13: Richardson and stolen bases. He has told the Mets this year,
- 34:43Speaker 13: I want to be a better defensive player in the
- 34:46Speaker 13: way that I wanted to be a better base runner.
- 34:49Speaker 13: He is a guy like shouldn't he be able to
- 34:52Speaker 13: be major league average? He should be able to like
- 34:55Speaker 13: I feel right and so like and by the way,
- 34:58Speaker 13: has a good arm and has a high baseball IQ
- 35:02Speaker 13: and so to me, like like their feeling was they
- 35:05Speaker 13: could live with They couldn't live with four years of
- 35:08Speaker 13: Nimo and and Soda. But like Sodo a really good
- 35:13Speaker 13: center fielder, really good left fielder, and recommitment by Sodo.
- 35:17Speaker 13: And again they were going to allow one player to
- 35:20Speaker 13: be a full time DH for them, the guy who's.
- 35:22Speaker 8: The best atic aside from Otani.
- 35:24Speaker 13: Uh, the guy who's the best of it, who would
- 35:26Speaker 13: also bring something to their clubhouse at a time they
- 35:29Speaker 13: were worried about their clubhouse.
- 35:31Speaker 8: That's really good insight. That's great. Well, make sure you
- 35:33Speaker 8: check out Joel's article.
- 35:35Speaker 9: Obviously you can get it now on the New York Post,
- 35:38Speaker 9: but then also tomorrow if you're looking for if you're
- 35:40Speaker 9: looking for it in New York.
- 35:41Speaker 8: But Joel, thank you for stopping by.
- 35:43Speaker 13: It's great to leve you guys as part of this.
- 35:45Speaker 13: Thank you, Like this is the dinner has been better
- 35:47Speaker 13: the last two years because you guys have been part
- 35:49Speaker 13: of that.
- 35:49Speaker 8: I appreciate it.
- 35:50Speaker 13: And for somebody who cares about this dinner, we're thrilled
- 35:53Speaker 13: that you're part of the dinner.
- 35:54Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 35:54Speaker 13: Yeah, people know about this we had because before nobody
- 35:57Speaker 13: even knew anything I have.
- 35:59Speaker 7: People now are like, oh, that's really cool.
- 36:00Speaker 13: I never knew any I didn't even know that thing happened.
- 36:02Speaker 9: Yes, there are a lot of people that are live
- 36:06Speaker 9: streaming this throughout the evening. I mean, if you saw
- 36:09Speaker 9: the number for baseball to get that kind of audience
- 36:11Speaker 9: on YouTube and some of the other social platforms are
- 36:13Speaker 9: on a Saturday night, right, Yeah, this is not baseball
- 36:17Speaker 9: time to shine. It shows people will watch this if
- 36:21Speaker 9: they can find it.
- 36:21Speaker 8: So that was important to us. Anyway, Thank for you guys,
- 36:24Speaker 8: Thank you, Yes, appreciate it.
