- 0:10Brandan: Hello, and welcome to the Sea Hawkers Podcast.
- 0:14I'm your host Brandan Schulze, and tonight I am joined by
- 0:17my good buddy Clinton Bonner.
- 0:19And we've got people in the chat joining us live for the post game.
- 0:23Ryan911 saying, "MOB is good all the time."
- 0:27And, it is all the time that the MOB is good.
- 0:30Clinton?
- 0:31Clinton: It is.
- 0:32it just turns out that sometimes your third and fourth stringers
- 0:35aren't, exactly great, and that wasn't the most, you know, the most
- 0:39exciting Seahawks football game.
- 0:40But that's okay, because it's game one of the pre-season, it's August 15th.
- 0:45And Brandan, when the closer to starters were in, we looked okay.
- 0:50We looked darn good when the closer to starters were in.
- 0:52We were up 7-0 early in fact, Brandan.
- 0:54Brandan: Yes, up 7-0 early, and then I tuned out.
- 0:57So- … we'll just, we'll just pretend that's all we saw.
- 0:59But, we also have a special guest joining us tonight.
- 1:03It is Mookie Alexander of Field Gulls.
- 1:06Nice.
- 1:06It's been a while, Mookie.
- 1:07Welcome back to the show.
- 1:09Mookie: Yeah, it's good to be on.
- 1:10it's great to have Seahawks football back, no matter how
- 1:13tedious a watch that was.
- 1:15but it just means that y- y- you do another check mark.
- 1:18Okay, that's one down, two to go, roster cuts, and then boom, Wednesday,
- 1:22September 9th, the real thing happens.
- 1:24I, I, I can assure you that, the dudes who are out there playing,
- 1:28about 80 to 90% of them will not be even on the roster come, come week one.
- 1:34Brandan: Yeah, especially after half time.
- 1:36You get to watch it and you're going, "Oh, man.
- 1:38Just, our defense is getting run over."
- 1:40And then you realize- Yeah … okay, well a lot of these guys aren't gonna be on the
- 1:43Seahawks defense when, when we kick it off against the Patriots for week one.
- 1:48And really, I think the story of the game, Clinton- Hmm.
- 1:53You have one … was penalties.
- 1:54Clinton: Oh, yeah.
- 1:55Yeah.
- 1:56Brandan: Because I, I, I did the Control + F on my play-by-play sheet here.
- 2:0027 called penalties.
- 2:03Wow.
- 2:03Oof.
- 2:03and, you know, some of those were declined obviously,
- 2:06but 27 called penalties between the Cowboys and Seahawks.
- 2:09So a, a sloppy game, Mookie, on both sides of the ball.
- 2:14Mookie: Yeah, very sloppy.
- 2:15a- and in certain areas it, it, it's sloppy at a, to a point
- 2:20where you go, "That person is probably not making the roster."
- 2:23Hmm.
- 2:23And I'm talking about somebody like Logan Brown, who I think
- 2:26had four penalties tonight.
- 2:27Clinton: Woof.
- 2:27Mookie: And, and I mean, when I was at camp last week, he
- 2:31had two false starts even at the, the one practice I saw at VMAC.
- 2:34Oof.
- 2:35so I think that's…
- 2:36And they were both false starts.
- 2:37So that's, that was, that's been an issue for him.
- 2:40Even though he looked better than Amari Kight from the camps that I saw,
- 2:43that's not saying a whole lot when you consider the performances of the
- 2:46second and third string offensive line.
- 2:48just some undisciplined penalties on the defensive side
- 2:51of the ball in the secondary.
- 2:52Shemar Jean-Charles I, I think will make it a very easy decision as far as who
- 2:57gets let go when Terrion Arnold get signed.
- 2:59a- and really, like Jean-Charles was always gonna be a long shot to make the
- 3:02roster, but he made sure that, that long shot disappeared, lickety split.
- 3:07So- I, I, I think that's, of course, game result doesn't matter.
- 3:11There's no game plan or anything like that.
- 3:12I don't think Macdonald's gonna be happy with the ugliness and the disjointed
- 3:17nature of the, of this particular game.
- 3:21because we saw, we were there last preseason.
- 3:23We, we watched all the games and, and for the most part they
- 3:25were a lot cleaner than this.
- 3:27Mm-hmm.
- 3:27So-
- 3:27Brandan: Yeah
- 3:28… Mookie: no reason to panic, but it does put into perspective the gap you
- 3:31see between the top guys, the ones who are gonna be playing on Sundays
- 3:34every week, and then the ones who are just trying to make the roster.
- 3:38Brandan: Okay, Clinton, but here's the thing.
- 3:39Yeah.
- 3:39I, I can handle some false start penalties, like we get those every
- 3:43game, some defensive holding or some hands to the face, that's fine.
- 3:47We had dudes at wide receiver just lining up into the neutral zone and,
- 3:51and wide receivers false starting and, and it's those ones, it's like,
- 3:56tho- Yes, it's pre-season, but I don't even wanna see those in the pre-season
- 4:01Clinton: There was one on Cody White too, which, which I, I
- 4:03don't think he actually moved.
- 4:04He certainly didn't seem like he thought he moved.
- 4:06Coming back to the sideline, they called it on him.
- 4:08Brandan: Well, Cody White also thought he caught one of
- 4:10those passes that he dropped.
- 4:11Clinton: Yes, he did.
- 4:12I say, look, you gotta, you gotta try, right?
- 4:14But, but look, the, the first drive, it, there was…
- 4:18It looked, it looked pretty clean.
- 4:19and I'm not gonna sit here and be like, "Oh, Drew Lock looked good," 'cause
- 4:22it doesn't really matter, but Drew Lock did Drew Lock things in the first drive.
- 4:26But the first drive also gave you Holani with a couple of nice
- 4:29runs, getting to the edges, nice, nice blocks on the interior.
- 4:33Then there was a really nice play to Arroyo on that first drive, where it
- 4:36was a little play action to Holani, quick hit over the middle to, to
- 4:41Arroyo, it, you know, really in stride.
- 4:43And you start to get the sense of what the Fleury offense wants to go do.
- 4:48So while the totality was very sloppy and messy, and then once we got
- 4:53into the third and fourth quarter, we really were getting run over.
- 4:56You know, we just…
- 4:56That, that part's ugly, ugly, and not fun.
- 4:59I really do, really would like to focus more on the first part of what we saw
- 5:03there, and, that looked pretty smooth.
- 5:05So from a Fleury perspective, guys, I could take a little bit
- 5:08of, a little bit out of this and be like, "Okay, I think I see
- 5:12what Fleury was attempting to do."
- 5:14And this, this is game one, training wheels still on,
- 5:17not giving away everything.
- 5:18But Brandan, that part looked pretty good to me.
- 5:217-nothing early.
- 5:22I like that.
- 5:23Brandan: Yeah, let's go back to the first drive here in a second.
- 5:25And, we've got Ryan911 coming in with a super chat of 9.99.
- 5:30Clinton: Nice.
- 5:31Brandan: Fun to watch Seahawks football again.
- 5:33Very fun and appreciate you executive producer-ing, the show, Ryan.
- 5:38Carly Perkins also in at 4.99.
- 5:40I didn't catch most of the game, but Spoon got paid.
- 5:43So glad we could take- True … care of my boy, and we're one step
- 5:46closer to real football again.
- 5:47We're gonna get to talking to some Spoon too.
- 5:49But, going to this first drive, Mookie, how, how did you feel about it?
- 5:53Because, y- the, the last throw, the, the touchdown pass by Lock, great throw.
- 5:59Oh, yeah.
- 5:59you referenced the, the pass to Arroyo that was kind of set up with…
- 6:04You saw a couple similar guard pulling type plays that were run plays, and
- 6:09then they, they build off of that and run that same type of guard pull-
- 6:14Yeah … but then it's the pass to Arroyo.
- 6:16so, but really when you look too at the, at, at, at the box score,
- 6:22Drew Lock nine of 13, 40 yards, Mookie.
- 6:26That's, a little over…
- 6:28or what?
- 6:28Three yards per attempt.
- 6:30so maybe, maybe not a good day overall.
- 6:32But we got to see a n- a couple nice throws by Lock.
- 6:35Mookie: Yeah, they were pretty much all on the first drive because I, I
- 6:38would say after that he was not sharp.
- 6:39He, I think he was a little worse than the nine of 13.
- 6:42what indicates the 40 yards definitely justified, given
- 6:46some of the misses he had.
- 6:46He had a bad miss to Bobo over the middle, and then he overshot a wide
- 6:50open Montorie Foster, and I think that would've been a big play.
- 6:53That was early in the third quarter.
- 6:54But that touchdown to Foster was a nice throw.
- 6:56Brandan: Yeah.
- 6:56Mookie: And it was also a great play by Foster because he's barely
- 6:59out of his break running a little post there and then coming back, and by
- 7:02the time he has to turn around, the ball's on him and he's able to get it.
- 7:05And I know Foster had a drop, and then I think he had a penalty also, but
- 7:09who didn't really in the second half.
- 7:10But, if the Seahawks are gonna stash six receivers, if they're gonna roster
- 7:15six guys, and we already know who the top five are I think Montorie Foster
- 7:20might be in that mix with Cody White.
- 7:23I'd say Ricky White is now below Foster because you notice Foster
- 7:25was out there before Ricky was.
- 7:27Brandan: Right.
- 7:27Mookie: And Foster, you don't…
- 7:31I, I'm kind of wondering, are they willing to expose him to waivers?
- 7:33Because one thing that we always freak out about every year is, "Oh man, that
- 7:37guy's gonna get claimed, this guy's gonna get claimed," and very, very few players
- 7:40actually get claimed during cut down day.
- 7:42Brandan: Right.
- 7:43Mookie: The one thing that kind of complicates that for the Seahawks
- 7:45is that they've got a, a guy in Minnesota named Nolan Teasley who might be
- 7:50watching whatever the Seahawks are doing.
- 7:51So- Mm … you've got Minnesota, you got Carolina, maybe you have Las Vegas,
- 7:54so those would be three teams you could think of who could possibly look to
- 7:57get in on some, some Seahawks talent.
- 7:59but- And the Niners
- 8:00Brandan: maybe with
- 8:01Mookie: the wide receiver … yeah, it, it's possible.
- 8:03Yeah, it, it is very possible that happens.
- 8:05But, like, if Foster doesn't make the team, I think he, and he clears waivers
- 8:10immediately to the practice squad.
- 8:11Alternatively, he makes the roster, you waive Cody White, Cody White
- 8:16clears waivers all the time, and he goes to the practice squad, and that
- 8:19might be what they're willing to do just to have a young guy on the team.
- 8:22And I'm happy for Foster given he goes from substitute teacher to, to
- 8:26maybe a, a- an NFL week one player.
- 8:28We'll see how it goes.
- 8:29Brandan: I hate how they put in those stories too, 'cause then
- 8:31you're like, "Oh, I, I definitely have to root for, for the guy."
- 8:34And, and Daniel Smith in chat saying, yes, Raiders would claim him.
- 8:37Montorie Foster finishes the night five catches, 36 yards.
- 8:42right behind him, Jake Bobo, three catches, 13 yards.
- 8:47And then, yardage wise, the only guy that, would follow him up i- Velus
- 8:52Jones had two catches for negative five.
- 8:54So maybe that's why, Drew Lock's hurting a little bit there too.
- 8:57And Elijah Arroyo with one catch for, 12 yards.
- 9:00Looking at the quarterbacks, Jalen Milroe, five of eight, 36 yards and,…
- 9:07But he had some rushing stats.
- 9:08He had five carries on 36 yards.
- 9:10So, Clinton- Yes … we'll go to you in a second.
- 9:14check out Yokai Hawk here with the, 1707 yen.
- 9:19Appreciate that Yokai Hawk.
- 9:20Nice.
- 9:20"Is there any way we can assess Fleury's play calling regardless of the execution?"
- 9:25So let's go there.
- 9:26though execution is kind of his responsibility too.
- 9:29I, Clinton, it, it seems to me that I really go more off of that
- 9:33first drive because those are the scripted plays, and then I don't know
- 9:39if there's much we can take away from it too because part of it was offensive
- 9:43line, part of it was penalties.
- 9:46Clinton: Yeah.
- 9:46Brandan: And part of it too, y- we're going for it on fourth down in situations
- 9:50that maybe we wouldn't necessarily be going for it on fourth down if, you
- 9:55know, y- we, we got a turnover inside the, what, five yard line- Mm-hmm … and
- 10:01just run three straight times to the, well, twice to the outside, one up
- 10:06the middle that gets stuffed, and then they go for it on fourth down again.
- 10:09Would that series be called a little bit differently, late in the game?
- 10:14That's tough to say, but w- what do you take away play calling-wise?
- 10:17Clinton: So I do think your points are good there, first and foremost.
- 10:21You know, Myers misses a chip shot, doesn't typically do that, right?
- 10:23So that's points off the board.
- 10:25And then we're going stuff on fourth and four, and things
- 10:28of that nature, which, you know, during the season, you're just not
- 10:31typically doing that, which is fine.
- 10:32You- you trot Myers out there.
- 10:34Last year he broke LT's record for most points ever scored,
- 10:38and you just go get your points.
- 10:40the first two drives, the, the first time Milroe was in,
- 10:44that was a promising drive too.
- 10:46Seattle was so good last year that when they did have the occasional
- 10:51five-yard penalty, they were also really clean last year a lot, but they were
- 10:54very good last year that they didn't allow, like, a five-yard penalty to
- 10:59just automatically derail a drive.
- 11:01A couple of years ago, maybe year one Mike Macdonald, and certainly the
- 11:05end of the Pete Carroll era, drives would get derailed all the time
- 11:08with, like, a little false start.
- 11:09Like, okay, well, they're just might- might as well not play,
- 11:11might as well punt on second down.
- 11:13That, that kind of happened today where the, the start of some of the other
- 11:17drives were promising, and then there's a negative play, and they just couldn't,
- 11:21couldn't get out of that, their own way.
- 11:23That's okay.
- 11:23It's, they will work those kinks out.
- 11:25I think the early stuff that was running the football looked promising,
- 11:31and we know, like, we know…
- 11:32But look, Sam's gonna…
- 11:33I think Sam's in line for a quality year, maybe in a, maybe
- 11:37even a very, very good year.
- 11:38We'll see.
- 11:39of course he's get- he's getting the glow up with the 21st, ranking
- 11:43at NFL 100, and of course what's happening on, on, Hard Knocks.
- 11:47But this team's gonna run the football.
- 11:49So I think it was promising early there, and some of the, some of the backup,
- 11:54guards and tackles on the first couple of drives looked pretty good.
- 11:58You know, un- until it didn't.
- 11:59So those are the things that I could take away and say, "Hey, early in
- 12:02the game we looked pretty competent."
- 12:04One thing I'll…
- 12:05Before I'll pass to Mookie in a sec, but I thought Milroe was okay, and where I, I
- 12:11realized Drew Lock's line of nine of 13, not that many yards, but he did have that
- 12:15big pass down the sideline that drew a PI.
- 12:18I think that was Foster also.
- 12:19I, I believe that was also Foster who gets held for a big PI play,
- 12:24so doesn't count in the stat line, but, you know, the chunk is a chunk.
- 12:28Milroe to me s- takes three sacks, still had a, had a fumble himself that
- 12:32he recovered Hungry Hungry Hippo style.
- 12:35But he still seemed a little rushed to me.
- 12:37But he also, Mookie, I'm not sure if you could pick apart anything from
- 12:40Milroe besides a little rushed, looked pretty good, but seemed to also still
- 12:46wanna kinda go run the football a bit more than maybe es- escape and make a play.
- 12:51Or did he just not have enough time?
- 12:53What did you see, Mookie?
- 12:55Mookie: well first thing, the, the long throw that drew the
- 12:58PI was to Cody White, I believe.
- 12:59Cody,
- 12:59Clinton: okay, cool.
- 13:00Mookie: I think there was a, the throw before that Bobo
- 13:02got blatantly interfered with and still hung on for the catch.
- 13:05Yeah.
- 13:05But that was a very risky throw from Lock.
- 13:07I thought Milroe was fine the first drive.
- 13:09of course, he was able to use his legs.
- 13:12That little improvised throw to, to, to Bobo to complete a
- 13:15fourth down, only to be nullified by the Amari Kight holding penalty.
- 13:18Right.
- 13:19Yeah.
- 13:19it didn't take away from how good the play was.
- 13:21So we, we can see him be creative there.
- 13:24when it was a, a, a quick pass, I, I think he was accurate, whether it was
- 13:27that throw to Kallerup or the throw over the middle to Bobo on a third down.
- 13:31So I mean, there were some good things as far as Milroe's quick decision-making,
- 13:34but once it became, like, under center, deep drop type of, concepts, I-
- 13:40it felt like he was kind of betwixt and between as far as, should I run now?
- 13:44Because that was kind of the thing last year, is like as soon as the
- 13:46first read's not open, he's gonna bail.
- 13:48Clinton: Mm.
- 13:48Mookie: And you don't wanna be doing that in the long term w-
- 13:52if you wanna be a viable starting quarterback in this league.
- 13:55So I think there were actually some opportunities Milroe could
- 13:57have taken off sooner, and he ended up just getting sacked.
- 14:01Pass pro was very poor,- Yes … from the second and third
- 14:03team, especially from the tackles.
- 14:05Like Brown and Kight and Hart, those three were brutal.
- 14:10And then Beau Stephens had a couple of…
- 14:11He had some good moments m- mainly in the run blocking, but, in
- 14:14pass pro I don't think he hold, held up, all, all that consistently.
- 14:18So I don't think it was a great night for Milroe, all, all in all, but,
- 14:23you know, we'll, we'll see how it goes over the next couple weeks.
- 14:25I think it's just a baby steps thing, that the good news is we are seeing
- 14:29him at least run with the second team offense, and we are seeing him at least
- 14:33in there with Bobo and Elijah Arroyo and handing the ball off to George Holani.
- 14:37So th- you know, everybody I just mentioned, now, just now, those
- 14:41guys are gonna be on the roster.
- 14:43Mm-hmm.
- 14:43So we'll see how it goes next week and the week after.
- 14:46Yokai, Yokai Hawk asked, "Was it Olu for the Milroe fumble?"
- 14:49I haven't gone back to look at that play.
- 14:51if that wa- Yeah, that
- 14:52Brandan: wa- I think that was his very first snap under center, and- Yes
- 14:55and Milroe didn't have a ton of snaps under center I think when they went,…
- 14:58And most of the other ones were run plays, so.
- 15:01Mookie: Yeah.
- 15:01So, but, you know, i- if, as far as Milroe just having this amazing preseason
- 15:05out of the gate, I think maybe that's what fans were kinda hoping for.
- 15:08That he was able to just spin it, throw some deep shots, be
- 15:11aggressive, but, the, the preseason is still young, still young.
- 15:14Mm-hmm.
- 15:14We got two other games to go.
- 15:16Clinton: Yeah.
- 15:17And, and one quick thing too is I, I do wanna say for folks who might be thinking
- 15:20that I'm coming down a little hard on, on Milroe too, it's like I think he played
- 15:23markedly better than last year too.
- 15:25Like, there was, there was sincere improvement.
- 15:27There was just still a little bit of a, a little bit left on the bone there like
- 15:31you were pointing out, there, Mookie.
- 15:35Brandan: We've got BMW22 ounce in chat saying, "You guys are awesome.
- 15:39Thanks for all the content.
- 15:40So happy it's Seahawk season again.
- 15:42Looking forward to another great year with the Seahawks."
- 15:44Oh, yeah.
- 15:45for the record, Adam is awesome.
- 15:47appreciate that.
- 15:48And the 9.99
- 15:49Super Chat, BMW22.
- 15:51Clinton: Thank you.
- 15:51Awesome.
- 15:52Brandan: I I see people, putting in chat, all the places
- 15:56that, is hiring for Milroe.
- 15:58I, I don't know why you would give up on, on Jalen Milroe a third
- 16:02round pick, in a, in a…
- 16:04after the first game and the second preseason.
- 16:06I, I think it's a little bit early to be doing that, Mookie,
- 16:09despite how, you know, may…
- 16:12It wasn't great, but, I, I didn't think it was terrible either.
- 16:16Mookie: No, I think some of the sacks might not have been,
- 16:20great in, in terms of, of Milroe being able to escape pressure.
- 16:23Sure.
- 16:23I will say, when he's running along the sideline, I mean, that scramble
- 16:27he had on third and 11- Mm-hmm.
- 16:28Right … you can see the speed at times, and then there are other points…
- 16:31In o- in other words, like his speed is different depending on which
- 16:34direction he's actually running, and that can get him into trouble at times
- 16:39when he's trying to scramble, like on that fourth and goal sack at the one.
- 16:41He's trying to do the Russ spinorama and, and he's unable to, to get free.
- 16:46That is definitely a play call that I'm 100% sure under no circumstances
- 16:49Brian Fleury would run with Sam Donald on the first team offense.
- 16:52Gotcha.
- 16:53maybe would even run it with Lock in the second team offense.
- 16:55So we don't really glean too much from what Fleury did
- 16:59as far as play calling here.
- 17:01especially the deeper into the game he gets, kind of game
- 17:04strategy goes out the window.
- 17:05You're just doing whatever to assess your quarterback, your
- 17:08line, your receivers, all that.
- 17:09But, let, let's pump the brakes on Milroe and, and wanting to send
- 17:13him out to, to FedEx or Arby's and all, and, and all these other lovely
- 17:16places that definitely need employment.
- 17:18But I think Milroe is above that.
- 17:19But, yeah, just, just be patient.
- 17:21And you know what?
- 17:21If it doesn't work out, it's not the end of the world.
- 17:24He is a third round pick.
- 17:24He's not a first round pick challenging for Sam Darnold's job.
- 17:27The only thing that I was looking to see with Milroe in preseason
- 17:29is can he be a guy you can actually have active on game day?
- 17:34Not immediately replace Drew Lock right now, but is he a guy who for
- 17:38whom you can actually do a package for and, you know, n- not have it
- 17:43be as catastrophic as last year?
- 17:45Jury's still out on that front, but if he shows some more development
- 17:48over the next couple weeks, then maybe you can go, "All right, we can have
- 17:51Milroe in the game occasionally," and he's actually a threat to pass.
- 17:55If he's not a threat to pass over these next couple of weeks and the
- 17:59coaching staff doesn't trust him, then you just keep Milroe inactive
- 18:02most times like they did last year.
- 18:04Brandan: Well, and I think too, I think we as fans got a little bit hyped up
- 18:07with some of the reports that we heard that, oh, it's really Jalen Milroe
- 18:11and Drew Lock, they're really gonna be competing for quarterback number two.
- 18:15And w- when you start to hear that, then you're, oh, may- maybe he has developed
- 18:20to the point to where he's gonna push Drew Lock, and, and maybe you can move
- 18:24Drew Lock for picks and, and, and keep two quarterbacks and still be fine.
- 18:29But yeah, if we go just the way that, from what we've seen from
- 18:34week one, I'm okay with Sam Darnold having two competent backups behind
- 18:38him and, Drew Lock being the one that is the next one to be up, Quinn.
- 18:44Clinton: Yeah, no, I am as well.
- 18:45And I think, I don't know if there's much else on the o- on the
- 18:48offensive side of the ball, guys.
- 18:50I mean, I just, I just don't think there was a ton there that you could pick apart.
- 18:53I think Velus Jones looks…
- 18:56He's fast, you know, he gets to the outside pretty quickly,
- 18:59and I think he's, he could be, he could do some good work.
- 19:02But besides that, again, Holani looked the part to me.
- 19:05Actually, when Justin Jones, who got the one carry at the goal line late
- 19:08in the game, he looked pretty good.
- 19:09He didn't quite get into the end zone, and we did not convert on that play.
- 19:12But- We
- 19:12Brandan: got to see a nice Lampe, fullback
- 19:15Clinton: though.
- 19:15Yes, yes.
- 19:15There you go.
- 19:16That's a good call-out, right?
- 19:17So just trying to find a couple more bright moments from the, the offense.
- 19:20Lampe did lay a guy out.
- 19:21It was that very play.
- 19:23So you really do wanna see, the running back able to just punch it in
- 19:27at that, at that point, but I think it was a nice tackle that was made.
- 19:29But Lampe made, he blew a guy up, so that was kinda cool to see as, as, as well.
- 19:34I don't know if there was other stuff on the offensive side that
- 19:37I could dig into with confidence and say, "Ooh, I s- how about
- 19:40Brandan: Smila?"
- 19:40I feel like we pretty much expired the, the offensive guys.
- 19:42Clinton: Yeah, I guess the only other way we could talk
- 19:44is, like, offensive linemen.
- 19:46You know, the, the announcers were, like, glowing up Beau Stephens, and as
- 19:49soon as they glowed up L- Beau Stephens, he kinda took a, he kinda got off balance,
- 19:53took a stab, and, and then ended up with a pretty bad holding penalty.
- 19:57But Mookie, any other dudes across the offensive line that
- 19:59you thought, you talked about guys that didn't perform too well.
- 20:03Anybody stand out in the offensive line that, that played at least pretty good?
- 20:07Mookie: nothing that immediately, jumped out to me.
- 20:10I will say it's kind of ominous for Bryce Cabeldue to, to be that deep- Mm
- 20:13into the game- Mm-hmm … and then he gets in with the third team.
- 20:16So if that persists over these next couple weeks, it's possible
- 20:20Cabeldue is on the bubble.
- 20:21Clinton: Yeah.
- 20:21Mookie: And I think part of it is because Beau Stephens is somebody who
- 20:24traded f- up in the draft for, he gave up some capital next year, to, to
- 20:29acquire, and Stevens had been with the third team pretty much all of camp.
- 20:32but he got in with the, with the second team, if you will,
- 20:34very, very early in this game.
- 20:36And so you got…
- 20:37I, I will say Christian Haynes, other than that one look like bust in,
- 20:40in pass pro, I don't know if there was supposed to be a double team
- 20:43there and he ends up falling down.
- 20:44Christian Haynes didn't look too bad.
- 20:46Clinton: Yeah, I
- 20:46Mookie: agree.
- 20:46And really i- if for, for Christian Haynes, it's just make the roster because
- 20:50i- these first two seasons had everybody wondering is his goose cooked already.
- 20:55But it's, by all, all accounts, he's had a good camp, and at least in limited playing
- 21:00time today, he, he w- other than that one rep- Yeah … he didn't look out of place.
- 21:04So as long as that persists, then you've probably got three guards on
- 21:07this roster meaning Bradford, Haynes and, and Stevens, and then it's kind
- 21:12of up in the air for everybody else.
- 21:14and of course Cabeldue on the left side, but at right guard
- 21:16you got those three options.
- 21:17Brandan: Yeah.
- 21:18Well, and just the fact that Haynes was out there.
- 21:19He wasn't out there for super long before they went ahead and put
- 21:24Stevens in and gave him some work.
- 21:25So it kind of told you that maybe they didn't need to see a,
- 21:28a whole lot from Haynes either.
- 21:30We've got Doo Daddy in chat saying, "Give Holani some love.
- 21:33Never had a bad play."
- 21:34He was 12 carries, 42 yards.
- 21:37He played quite a bit of the first half- Mm
- 21:39more than I expected, finished with an average of three
- 21:41and a half yards per carry.
- 21:43I, I thought he was fine.
- 21:45I, I'm not, I…
- 21:47He makes me more excited that, to see Zach Charbonnet back.
- 21:51I but-
- 21:53Clinton: The average wasn't great, but, but he-
- 21:54Brandan: Fine.
- 21:55He, he, he was okay
- 21:56… Clinton: I thought it was pretty good.
- 21:56You know, and again, there wasn't, like, huge gashing holes either.
- 21:59He had a couple of those plays where, you know, a dude's in the backfield right
- 22:03away and he's at least getting back to the line of scrimmage or a gain of one
- 22:06or two- Yeah … where instead of a, instead of a TFL, that's am- And maybe
- 22:09Brandan: behind the, the first team offensive line-
- 22:12Clinton: Yes.
- 22:12Brandan: Yeah … you know, he can, he can pick up those yards.
- 22:14But-
- 22:14Clinton: I- there was a couple, and, and again, that first drive and the
- 22:16second drive, there was a couple of nice five-yard gains or, like, a incomplete
- 22:20pass on first down, but they're running on second down, then run third and five.
- 22:23It's like, okay, that's very acceptable.
- 22:25but you know, nothing, no breakaways, nothing huge like that.
- 22:29But I think Holani's an NFL, he's an NFL running back.
- 22:31And actually he end- he very well could be our, our first series starter this year
- 22:36versus the Patriots in a couple of weeks.
- 22:38That, that's not out of the realm of possibilities whatsoever.
- 22:42Mookie: Yeah, he's anywhere from middle class Charbonnet
- 22:44to rich man's Travis Homer.
- 22:46That's a very
- 22:49Brandan: good description.
- 22:50some highlights on the defensive side of the ball.
- 22:53Tyrice Knight finished with 10 total tackles of seven solo, three assist.
- 22:59he also had a couple passes defensed.
- 23:02between him and I would say Noah Igbinoghene- Mm-hmm, mm-hmm … probably
- 23:07the two guys that stood out to me, Mookie.
- 23:09May- maybe a little bit of Mike Mo early on, too, Mike Morris.
- 23:13Mookie: Yeah, I, I'd say so.
- 23:14There were a couple of good, pass rushing reps from Riley Mills.
- 23:17Riley Mills, yeah.
- 23:17he, he didn't immediately jump out today as, as much as I saw in training
- 23:21camp, and of course Sam Darnold and Leonard Williams on the broadcast, they were
- 23:25both pumping up how, how well Riley had, had been performing this off-season.
- 23:29So, I definitely think that Mills still has got plenty of room to grow, and
- 23:33they gave him quite a bit of a workout in the first half, and it was needed
- 23:36because he didn't play, many…
- 23:38He played 30 some odd snaps all of last season e- even in
- 23:41the few games that he played.
- 23:43So when it comes to the defensive side of the ball, as you said, Tyrice Knight looks
- 23:46really good, and he's gonna be hard to keep off the field, as Mike Macdonald said.
- 23:50I can see him added in sub packages or even maybe going back to rotating
- 23:54him and, and Drake Thomas at times.
- 23:56and also the fact that he, you could line him up at edge, I think is,
- 24:00is something that is worth monitoring.
- 24:01Saw that quite a bit in pre-season.
- 24:03Noah Igbinoghene did look good.
- 24:05There was that one deep shot to, to Marquez Valdes-Scantling- Yeah
- 24:09and Igbinoghene shut that down immediately.
- 24:11And, he also had a nice blitz that forced Howell into a
- 24:14panic throw and a red zone stop.
- 24:16So he…
- 24:17I, I thought Igbinoghene looked good.
- 24:19As far as, you know, other people, Patrick O'Connell, I think,
- 24:22he, he's making a good case to be that fourth linebacker- Mm
- 24:26on the depth charts, at least in, you know, inside linebacker, and
- 24:29he's been a special teams veteran, but I think he's got a case for,
- 24:32you know, making the roster proper instead of being practice squad.
- 24:35And Mike Morris, e- every year it looks like Mike Morris is
- 24:38on the bubble, and then he ends up being a preseason standout.
- 24:41I, I will say you can tell it's preseason whenever Mike Morris is an edge.
- 24:46Because in actual regular season games, he almost never is.
- 24:49Clinton: Right.
- 24:49Mookie: and I, I think a part of it is because if we…
- 24:53if I have to critique this defense, and I've seen it when I was at camp
- 24:56last week and then seeing it tonight, there's just nothing there as far as,
- 24:59as deep in the depth chart edge rushers.
- 25:01Jalen Gaines, I thought had a couple of good plays.
- 25:03Yeah.
- 25:03He had a nice tackle for loss and a pressure would-be sack, but outside
- 25:06of that, it's just too scarce.
- 25:08Connor O'Toole really just got shut down.
- 25:10Aidan Hubbard has been really not…
- 25:12N- nothing to, to write home about.
- 25:15He's been underwhelming, I would say.
- 25:16So, and Jared Ivy is anywhere from a big end to, to, like, an
- 25:20interior lineman, so didn't see enough of the pass rush really from, from
- 25:24the reserves on the defensive line.
- 25:26Brandan: No.
- 25:26D- They, they struggled to set an edge later on.
- 25:29even the interior push, there wasn't much there.
- 25:32I, I did see Devin Eastern on one play had some nice push up the middle, but,
- 25:37yeah, that was, that was about it.
- 25:39I, I feel like we're now shifting to a lot more of the negatives on defense, Glenn.
- 25:43Clinton: Well, I think there's a few more positives.
- 25:45And I, I…
- 25:46Mills, the first, again, very first few series, he, he was getting that bull rush
- 25:51going and just put- pushing the pile back.
- 25:53It kinda waned a little bit as the game went on.
- 25:55But I think, you know, I saw some folks on Twitter that were like, "Oh man, I
- 25:58expected so much more from Riley Mills."
- 26:00Like, well, okay.
- 26:02A, A, I hear you, but guys, we've gotta remember that at some point it'll, when
- 26:07Riley Mills is out there, he'll be, you know, next to Leo or be next to,
- 26:12you know, be next to, Byron Murphy.
- 26:14and, you know, we got the news t- two days ago, I think now, that,
- 26:18you know, that, DeMarcus Lawrence is gonna retire after this year.
- 26:21So the thinness after, you know, the, the ones that did not play, and the thinness
- 26:26after even, like, the second rotation guys are out there, it's like it's
- 26:29something they're gonna have to address.
- 26:31And, you know, whether that's a…
- 26:32I don't think they'll do a mid-season trade to adjust, address
- 26:35that unless they have injuries.
- 26:37But the talent beyond that's really not there.
- 26:40And I'm glad you brought up Eastern.
- 26:42Eastern, there was a play that Gaines made a, made a nice tackle for a loss.
- 26:45I think it was Gaines.
- 26:46But it was really Eastern that blew it up completely.
- 26:49So he did have that nice play, and I saw Dansby get mentioned
- 26:52in the, the comments, too.
- 26:53He had a nice play on the edge down, down by the goal line also, where he
- 26:57just strung it out, but really held his ground and made a nice play.
- 27:01I, I'm not sure if that was on Milton or the running back that was out there.
- 27:04But Dansby showed up a little bit as well.
- 27:07So there was at least a few more, single, you know, single or,
- 27:12examples or, two plays from a guy.
- 27:15I gotta say, the, the linebacker play, once we were in the third and fourth
- 27:19quarter, I did not think was very good.
- 27:21You know?
- 27:21Just, just guessing at holes a lot of times, it seemed to me.
- 27:25And, without calling dudes out specifically, 'cause I don't
- 27:29wanna, like- It sounded like
- 27:29Brandan: you're calling out Chad Surratt, but,
- 27:30Clinton: Well, tr- Aaron Smith, too.
- 27:32You know, I'm, I'm not trying to kill dudes that, that may
- 27:34or may not make this team.
- 27:35But, and Chad Surratt- Chad Surratt'll
- 27:37Brandan: probably make the team just especially-
- 27:38Clinton: As a special teamer.
- 27:39He's stuck around the NFL for a while.
- 27:40But, but the level of linebacker play really fell off a cliff.
- 27:44But again, it's, it's, it is what it is.
- 27:46but yeah, I mean, for me, Brandan, a couple of bright moments, but overall,
- 27:51not, just not the most exciting game.
- 27:54There weren't that many big plays
- 27:56Brandan: All right, Mookie.
- 27:56Was, was it apparent w- on, on the defensive side why we went ahead
- 28:01and, got Terrion Arnold this week?
- 28:05Mookie: Well, y- yes and no.
- 28:08I, I thought that Pritchett and, again, Pritchett and Igbinoghene were good.
- 28:11We still…
- 28:12We, we know nothing of Julian Neal, really- Mm … because
- 28:14he hardly practiced in camp.
- 28:15He got injured early.
- 28:16And I have told Bryce Coutts, on, the Hawk Eye podcast on Friday
- 28:20that I suspect that Neal n- not being available for as long as he's ha- has
- 28:26been injured was somewhat of a factor.
- 28:29Not the ma- It's certainly not the main driving factor for signing
- 28:32Terrion Arnold, 'cause you take a guy like Neal in the third round, he's
- 28:35somebody you would anticipate would be getting significant snaps right away,
- 28:39and he's just gonna be so far behind.
- 28:41He's got so much catch-up to do that the, it's gonna take a bit for him to
- 28:45even get snaps in the regular season.
- 28:46So, but definitely once you got deeper in the depth chart, Jean-Charles,
- 28:50as I said, brutal game, and then I think Fuller got beat a couple times,
- 28:54ear- early in the third quarter.
- 28:56So, Michael Dansby I thought, and Clinton mentioned it, had
- 28:59some good ga- had some good plays.
- 29:01Even the touchdown that he gave up, he was in position.
- 29:04That was just a phenomenal catch, by that, Kamdyn Brown guy.
- 29:07He had a, a n- nice night for Dallas.
- 29:09Yeah, a couple nice
- 29:09Brandan: catches.
- 29:09So, yeah.
- 29:10Mookie: Yeah, and, and newsflash, everybody, replacing Riq Woolen is
- 29:13not gonna be as easy as it looks, and Terrion Arnold may not be a direct
- 29:19replacement for Riq or anything, but he's certainly gonna be in the mix,
- 29:22along with Igbinoghene and Pritchett.
- 29:24And, yeah, what, Dansby and Fuller were, were gonna be long
- 29:27shots to make the team to begin with.
- 29:29So over the next couple weeks, we'll see if they can really push higher up.
- 29:34I know Dansby's had a good camp, but there's a difference between having a
- 29:36good camp and maybe making a case for the roster, and having a good camp and
- 29:40suddenly you're, you're cornerback three.
- 29:42So we kinda saw that gap there.
- 29:44Mm-hmm.
- 29:44Brandan: Yeah.
- 29:45Shemar Jean-Charles got picked on a little bit.
- 29:47Really, though, when I look over at the, list of receivers for the Cowboys,
- 29:53it was 200 yards passing, and so that was generally against second and third string.
- 29:59So I, I'm, I'm not ready to freak out about defensive depth or anything.
- 30:03It's just, yeah, I, I think that- If Arnold is going to compete for a
- 30:11spot, and we don't even know if he's going to end up on the commissioner's
- 30:13exempt list potentially, and, we may not have him until his legal
- 30:19situation is all under control.
- 30:21So, if it gets under control.
- 30:23So, it's gonna be a lot to watch there.
- 30:25I, I do hope that we get to see, yeah, a little bit of our third round
- 30:30cornerback at some point, Mookie.
- 30:32But, yeah, it does take me though, while we're talking about cornerback,
- 30:37how about our corner, Clinton- Mm.
- 30:39That got paid- Oh.
- 30:41… a, record-setting contract today, and that is Mr.
- 30:46Devon Witherspoon.
- 30:47Clinton: Yeah.
- 30:47That…
- 30:47So this is prob- probably the best news of the day, even with the game
- 30:51being played, I'd say almost certainly.
- 30:52And, and if the Seahawks came out clean without injury, that'd
- 30:56be the second-best news for sure.
- 30:58but look, we all knew Spoon was gonna be getting, getting his bag,
- 31:01and I just-- What I continue to appreciate about this team is that
- 31:07even with Hard Knocks happening and it being discussed a little bit on Hard
- 31:11Knocks, no drama, no hold-ins, no…
- 31:14He, he played, he played every…
- 31:16You know, he's out there every single practice just doing his thing, balling
- 31:19out there like, like Spoon does, and he's excited on the sideline.
- 31:23Of course, he just made $100 million guaranteed today,
- 31:26which is really, really good.
- 31:27but look, they locked up another guy from a recent draft class.
- 31:32So you got JSN, highest paid wide receiver in, in the league for a bit, and you
- 31:37have now Spoon, highest paid corner in the league in the same exact draft.
- 31:40You know?
- 31:41It's Flowers to Schneider, but also how they handled this.
- 31:45Mookie for me, it was always going to get done.
- 31:48There's no way an agent and a young man's walking away from,
- 31:52you know, $130 million or so.
- 31:54It, it was of course going to get done.
- 31:56But I'm glad it's done and there's not all this, like Gonzalez, who has
- 32:00the same agent, seemingly wants a different type of structured contract.
- 32:05But we're done, we're locked up, and now Spoon is what, here for…
- 32:09He's got two more years on this contract, and it's a four-year extension.
- 32:13Do I have that right?
- 32:14Is he, is he here for six more years now?
- 32:17Mookie: Yeah, and I think there's a void year tacked onto that, so I mean,
- 32:20it spreads things out a little bit more.
- 32:22John Gilbert's over at Field Goals will be the, cap experts
- 32:26to crunch all the numbers on Sunday.
- 32:28Certainly a lot more interesting than covering, what
- 32:30we just watched tonight.
- 32:32But, in terms of Witherspoon getting that extension, I, I was never
- 32:35worried and, and even if it didn't happen this year, it's not like he's
- 32:38a free agent at the end of this year.
- 32:39Right.
- 32:39They picked up his fifth year.
- 32:40So as you said, Clinton, that extension, much like JSN's, doesn't start
- 32:45until after the fifth-year option.
- 32:46Clinton: Right.
- 32:46Mookie: So he is the highest paid corner in the league, and at the same
- 32:49time that deal doesn't really, the bulk of that deal doesn't kick in
- 32:53until a couple years down the road.
- 32:54So the average over time is not 30-plus million- Correct … in, in, in reality.
- 33:01So, but Witherspoon, he is that force multiplier, as, as has
- 33:05been one of the, the Mike Macdonald, favorite phrases to say.
- 33:09He is, he is the do it all.
- 33:10And for Christian Gonzalez, maybe he'll end up being the highest paid corner by
- 33:13like a couple hundred thousand bucks, much like Jahmyr Gibbs got that extension right
- 33:17after Bijan Robinson did with Atlanta.
- 33:19Mm-hmm.
- 33:19But who cares?
- 33:21I, I don't think anybody's gonna be championing, "Hey, we got the
- 33:23highest paid corner in the league."
- 33:24All I care about is that Devon Witherspoon got paid.
- 33:27He is so valuable to this team because he can do it all.
- 33:29He can cover, he can tackle, he can play the run, he can blitz the quarterback.
- 33:33He, he is a head c- defensive head coach's dream, or really any head coach's dream
- 33:38because he, of all the things he does on the defensive side of the ball.
- 33:42And I'm looking forward to, seeing his stat totals and as far as interceptions
- 33:46and passes defense increase because that's like the one thing that's missing is
- 33:50can, can, can we get some more picks, out, out of Witherspoon, more turnovers,
- 33:54more forced fumbles, more sacks, because he does all these things so well that
- 33:57don't always show up in the box score.
- 33:59But might as well just add onto that so he's more comfortably in the NFL's top
- 34:03100 next year as opposed to- Mm … 107 with the, players list this time.
- 34:08Brandan: That's right.
- 34:08DooDaddy in chat saying, "101 million guaranteed.
- 34:12Good for him.
- 34:13Love it."
- 34:13Yokai Hawk saying, "Can't wait for Spoon versus Gonzo week one."
- 34:19And we've got, JuanADame619 with a 4.99
- 34:23super chat saying, "Thanks for the live show.
- 34:25Love seeing Foster and Rochelle have big games tonight."
- 34:28Yes.
- 34:29Yeah, we didn't, we didn't talk about Rochelle's big kick off return, did we?
- 34:32And, we can get to that too in a minute.
- 34:35I, I wanted to mention with Spoon, because you did bring up something,
- 34:38Mookie, that I thought was interesting.
- 34:40yeah, 26 years old right now, and he won't be a free agent until he's 32.
- 34:47Perfect.
- 34:47So-
- 34:48Clinton: Perfect
- 34:48… Brandan: yeah.
- 34:48the, the- Great … with that fifth year option and the four-year
- 34:52extension, it does seem like we're gonna have, Spoon for quite a long time.
- 34:59But yeah, how about special teams?
- 35:00We, I feel like we, we should call out Rochelle because that 52-yard return,
- 35:05that was one of the more exciting moments in an otherwise, game where there
- 35:09weren't a, a ton of exciting moments.
- 35:11Clinton: Oh, you know, it's nice that, look, we were, we were the best
- 35:14special teams unit in the league last year, probably by a, a good distance.
- 35:18And, you pick it right back up, sans the Myers miss, and great.
- 35:22I, I don't really care that Myers misses a field go- a field goal in, at August 15th.
- 35:27I, I just don't.
- 35:27It'd be nice if he made it, but I don't care.
- 35:29It's not a big deal that he didn't.
- 35:31I thought the two best parts of the Rochelle, it
- 35:35was a punt return, correct?
- 35:36I think the two best parts of it, were, well, just him going north and
- 35:40south, and also the announcer saying live, like, "Just, just go straight.
- 35:44Go, just go straight.
- 35:44Just go straight," which was kinda cool, too.
- 35:46And he, and seeing the sideline, Mookie, explode.
- 35:50you know, we don't hear a lot about Rochelle, throughout
- 35:53the, at least I didn't, throughout, throughout mini camp and all that stuff.
- 35:56He's not getting any glow up on Hard Knocks.
- 35:59But it sure seemed that the players know who he is and were, were
- 36:03ecstatic to see him make a big play.
- 36:06The drive fizzle- fizzles out, Mookie, but the legend lives on.
- 36:11Mookie: Yeah, it does, and, and the main reason he was brought on is because
- 36:14he was a very good special teams guy, very good kick and punt returner in college.
- 36:19So the fact that he, he was able to break one was nice, nice for him.
- 36:22It's, it's not just tape for the Seahawks, it's tape for, a- another
- 36:26team if in case he, he doesn't make this roster, which if we're being
- 36:29honest with ourselves is highly likely.
- 36:31But you always wanna have those highlights moments.
- 36:33That's one of the good things of preseason, is when you see the starters,
- 36:36the ones who've got comfortable job security just cheering on the dudes who
- 36:39are just trying to, to make their way onto an NFL roster, showcase their abilities.
- 36:43so yeah, special teams outside of the Myers miss.
- 36:46and look, it's, it happens.
- 36:48Yeah.
- 36:48He's not gonna be automatic.
- 36:50I will say that the camp, that I was at last week, I think the last,
- 36:53the Wednesday practice, he was missing to the right quite a bit- Mm … but
- 36:56it was a windy day, so he might have just been kind of trying to battle
- 37:00the wind more than anything else.
- 37:02but as far as the, the return game was good.
- 37:05The coverage was, was excellent.
- 37:06I mean, Jared Ivy and Brady Russell combined for, for big hits on the
- 37:09opening kick return that Dallas had.
- 37:11TJ Harden able to recover that fumble.
- 37:14That was, honestly one of the worst punt return decisions I think I've
- 37:18ever seen from that poor Cowboys dude.
- 37:20Luckily it didn't lead to
- 37:21Brandan: a- Well, credit to Michael Dixon, though, for putting it down at the one.
- 37:23Mookie: Yes, it was, it would've been, it- He's
- 37:25Brandan: going for that 90 that Marshon's gotta get him on napping.
- 37:27Mookie: Yes, he was going for that 90, but, I, I think a-
- 37:30awareness was, was, was not very high for, for that Cowboys punt returner-
- 37:33and Seattle was able to pounce on it.
- 37:35Like, if you're at your own goal line, why are you picking it up when there's
- 37:38like three Seahawks in your face?
- 37:39So, but you gotta be on the spot, and I would anticipate that the Seahawks
- 37:42are gonna once again have one of the best special teams units in the league.
- 37:45They've very rarely had poor special teams over the last like 10, 15 years really.
- 37:51It's like the end of the Brian Schneider era and the first year with Harbaugh,
- 37:54and a lot of that was really just D.
- 37:55Williams and Laviska Shenault were that bad.
- 37:58They, they corrected that.
- 38:00Clinton: Yes.
- 38:00Mookie: We're comfortable at returner, comfortable with our
- 38:02kicker, comfortable with the punter, comfortable with the coverage units,
- 38:05so it, it's gonna be a great team.
- 38:08Brandan: You know, we got, Boklo1251 calling out the broadcasting team,
- 38:12our Seahawks home broadcasting team.
- 38:14It, it sure is fun to hear, Michael Robinson and, u- and Mike Bennett,
- 38:19Yes … both on the call, and Cliff Avril down on the sideline.
- 38:23Yokai Hawk saying, "Who had the worst day?
- 38:25SGC Dallas number 21 or the Dallas punt return guy?"
- 38:29Ooh.
- 38:29that's a, that's a tie for all three.
- 38:32… Yokai Hawk also had a question about Jake Bobo and
- 38:35being targeted early and often.
- 38:37w- where do you come out on that, Mookie?
- 38:39Because I, it…
- 38:40To me, it just seems like the idea…
- 38:42He's wide receiver number four, so with wide receiver one, two, and three not out
- 38:48there, it kinda makes sense for him to be, the more targeted wide receiver for
- 38:53Drew Lock and this group, early on.
- 38:56Mookie: Heck, he's probably wide receiver five when
- 38:58you add in Torrey Horton.
- 38:59Mm-hmm.
- 38:59Because what was notable to me- Sure … is that Horton didn't play.
- 39:01I actually thought that they would consider playing Torrey Horton a
- 39:04little bit in preseason, given his rookie year was, was truncated
- 39:09in, in such an unfortunate way.
- 39:10But the fact that they decided to hold him out of this game, may
- 39:14bode well for, for where he sits on, on the depth chart, that he is,
- 39:17quote, "an established starter" at this point as a wide receiver four.
- 39:20But, you know, Bobo's also just coming back from injury.
- 39:23He missed a good chunk of camp with, I, I believe it was a hamstring issue.
- 39:27So it's also just to get him some game reps and, and their
- 39:30familiarity with him and Lock.
- 39:32And I think for, for Milroe, it's just to have somebody who's in that top five
- 39:36to, to have some comfort throwing to.
- 39:38And Bobo is a security blanket for all three quarterbacks.
- 39:41So, he's, he's very recei- very quarterback friendly as far as
- 39:45his ability to, make tough catches.
- 39:47Not always to get open, but you know, just, just to be there
- 39:52Brandan: Well, I really wanna thank everybody who joined us here live,
- 39:55including our producers, Ryan911, Carly Perkins, YokaiHawk, who came
- 40:01in with the Super Chat, BMW22OZ,
- 40:04and,
- 40:08JuanDame619.
- 40:09And, we're gonna be talking more Seahawks.
- 40:11d- do you have a three in, three out?
- 40:13Is, is that, in the cards this week, Clinton?
- 40:16Clinton: Potentially, yeah.
- 40:17I think I…
- 40:17There was enough of, of individual plays that I think stood out that we could do
- 40:20something to, to go, one click deeper.
- 40:23I'm not sure it'll be a video one, but we, we could do it, Brandan.
- 40:27We'll do something fun.
- 40:28Brandan: All right.
- 40:28Well, we got stuff planned all throughout the week, and I really wanna thank you,
- 40:32Mookie, for joining us for the post-game.
- 40:35Anything coming up that people need to check out at fieldgulls.com?
- 40:39Mookie: Yeah, once I'm off, this podcast, we'll be doing,
- 40:42our winners and losers.
- 40:43And normally I'm a lot more thorough when it's the regular season and playoffs, but,
- 40:47it's almost nine o'clock already, so probably not gonna be my maximum effort.
- 40:51But we'll have that.
- 40:52We'll have details of the Devon Witherspoon contract coming on Sunday.
- 40:56And of course, we'll be doing some game review.
- 40:58We, we can't just burn the tape out of this one.
- 40:59So there'll be some All-22 review coming up, with, Alexandre Castro,
- 41:04probably Tuesday or Wednesday.
- 41:06It's gonna be dependent on, when the, when the All-22 footage comes out,
- 41:10'cause Alexandre's based in Brazil, so they have their All-22 in a, different
- 41:14rights agreement, whereas all of us are having regular trouble logging into NFL+.
- 41:20Brandan: Mm.
- 41:21Yes.
- 41:22Well, really wanna thank you again, Mookie, for coming on.
- 41:24I, I see in chat it, it has been way too long, and so I, I do need to
- 41:28make sure that I invite you back on, a, a lot more often this season.
- 41:32So, we will look forward to that, and we will look forward to
- 41:35more games coming up this preseason.
- 41:38And I think with that, Clinton-
- 41:39Clinton: There's only one thing left to say
- 41:41Brandan: Go Hawks.
- 41:42Mookie: Go Hawks.
- 41:43Clinton: Go Hawks.
