- 0:00Leviticus chapter 24. Let us pray, our Father, we're
- 0:06so thankful for who you are. We're so thankful, God, that we
- 0:09can come in to the holiest of holy places.
- 0:12We're thankful, God, of the blood that ran red down the
- 0:15cross. We're thankful for the water
- 0:18that gushed out of Christ's side.
- 0:21But God, I pray that this word will wash over us today.
- 0:25Let the Word wash over us, God, and make us whole and pure and
- 0:29clean. Lord, I pray that you'll
- 0:32continue to show up. Lord, reveal to us more and more
- 0:38of your manifold wisdom the different facets of the reality
- 0:42of who you are, the different parts, God, that we can come to
- 0:46know you, Lord, in the completeness and the fullness,
- 0:50Father, of how you desire to be known.
- 0:53Lord, we surrender all of our own intellect, we surrender all
- 0:59of our own wisdom, all of our own understanding.
- 1:02God, we empty ourselves of everything, Lord, all of our
- 1:06preprogrammed. And Lord, we just ask that
- 1:11you'll come in and that you will actually and in the reality,
- 1:17Father, that you will fill us with the Holy Spirit today.
- 1:21Fill us with your wisdom, with your power and might.
- 1:25Fill us, God, with the fear of the Lord.
- 1:28Fill us, Father, with everything that we need for our journey.
- 1:33Lord, for this day, for such a day as this, for such a time as
- 1:37this, God, I pray that today is the day of salvation for
- 1:42someone. Someone, Lord, will surrender
- 1:46their life to you today. They will completely and fully
- 1:51yield unto you and not trust in their own understanding, but
- 1:57God. They will accept the drawing
- 2:01that you have been drawing them with, and they will finally lay
- 2:06down all their baggage, lay down everything that they've been
- 2:10dragging and carrying. Lord, all the hurts and the hang
- 2:14ups, Father, all of their scars. Lord, they will allow you to
- 2:21heal. So Lord, I just pray that over
- 2:24somebody today. Lord, I pray that somebody will
- 2:27fully surrender unto you today, fully surrender unto the leading
- 2:32that you, Father, are drawing them with.
- 2:36And Lord, I just pray that you'll supernaturally fill us
- 2:40today, supernaturally. Give us your wisdom,
- 2:43supernaturally. Help us, God, to understand
- 2:45these words and how they would apply to today.
- 2:49Lord, we know that these are not just words on a page.
- 2:54Father, we know that you are the Word.
- 2:57And so God, we look for You in every syllable, every jot, and
- 3:02every title. We look for you, Father,
- 3:04throughout every single chapter, every verse, Father, through the
- 3:10entirety of Your revealed word. So thank you God, that the Word
- 3:15became flesh. Thank you God that you have
- 3:19continued the church all the way up until this point.
- 3:23Lord, I pray you'll re light the flame blow on us God, I pray
- 3:28Lord, we will not grow weary of doing good, that we will not
- 3:32burnout Father. But Lord, we will keep our Wicks
- 3:36trimmed and our oil filled God, and then we will never let the
- 3:40fire go out on the altar. Thank you Lord, for saving us,
- 3:45for rescuing us, Lord, thank you God for choosing us, and thank
- 3:50you God, for giving us enough wherewithal to choose you and to
- 3:57finally surrender Father unto you.
- 4:00Lord, I pray all these things in Jesus Christ, holy and precious
- 4:04name, Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 4:08And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying verse 2 command the
- 4:17children of Israel that they bring unto you pure olive oil
- 4:20beaten for the light to cause the lamps to burn continuously.
- 4:25It's what you need to understand friends, that we never let the
- 4:29fire go out. Let the fire burn from now until
- 4:33the day that you are called home from glory to glory.
- 4:37Friends, it's what you need to understand is that the Lord will
- 4:40supernaturally fill you. He has enough oil to pump
- 4:48through the wall and he's connected to you.
- 4:51And Jesus stands behind the wall and he's just pouring that oil.
- 4:55It's an endless supply. And all we do is we get hooked
- 4:59up, friends, we get hooked up with the Lord and He does an
- 5:04amazing supernatural thing in our lives.
- 5:08All we do is surrender. All we do is make ourselves
- 5:11available. All we do is empty ourselves of
- 5:14ourselves. All we do is realize that we
- 5:18cannot save ourselves, that there's no good thing in us,
- 5:23that there is no one, no, not one, who does good.
- 5:30We're all in desperate need of a Savior.
- 5:33And here God is telling Moses to tell Aaron the high priest, to
- 5:39command the people to bring this olive oil into the sanctuary so
- 5:45that the light will never go out.
- 5:47And when we are there in New Jerusalem, friends, God is the
- 5:51light, and anytime you see the Holy Spirit, anytime you see the
- 5:56olive oil, you know that he's Speaking of the Holy Spirit.
- 6:01What an amazing thought. 3 Outside the veil of the
- 6:05testimony in the Tabernacle of the congregation shall err and
- 6:09order it from evening till morning before the Lord
- 6:13continuously. It shall be a statute forever in
- 6:17your generations. Never let the fire go out,
- 6:20friends, for he shall order the lamps upon the pure Candlestick
- 6:24before the Lord continuously. So this was talking about the
- 6:28menorah that sat that was made of pure gold.
- 6:32Five and you shall take fine flour and bake 12 cakes thereof.
- 6:37210th deals shall be in one cake.
- 6:40So he gives them the recipe, friends, and he shows them that
- 6:44this is an unleavened bread. And he tells them that there's
- 6:47going to be 12 to represent the 12 tribes.
- 6:51And these cakes were to be eaten by the priest with some of the
- 6:55sacrifices that came in six. And you shall set them in two
- 7:00rows, 6 on a row upon the pure table before the Lord. 7 And you
- 7:05shall put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the
- 7:09bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the
- 7:13Lord. Look at how God intermingles all
- 7:17of these elements and this is how He prescribed to the Jews of
- 7:25how He would be worshipped. He told them how He would come,
- 7:30His manifest presence would come whenever they would do all of
- 7:34the things that He had commanded them.
- 7:37He keeps the guardrails on so that they not, so that they will
- 7:42not just go off the rails and do whatever they want to do and
- 7:46worship them however they want to worship.
- 7:49We saw what happened with Nadab and Abahu.
- 7:52We see what happens whenever there's irreverence, whenever
- 7:56the holy presence of God comes. And that is an application for
- 8:01us today, friends. Yes, we are covered in the blood
- 8:04of Jesus and the veil was torn, and we can come into the holiest
- 8:08of holy places, not because of anything that we have done, but
- 8:12because of everything that Jesus Christ did on the cross.
- 8:17But God wants pure worship unto Him, and whoever would worship
- 8:22him must worship Him in spirit and truth.
- 8:27He gives us our rails, our guard rails, so that we do not just
- 8:32come flippantly, haphazardly into the throne room of grace.
- 8:37Friends, we must come with a clean heart, with clean hands
- 8:42and a pure heart. We must come in after we have
- 8:46consecrated ourselves friends. Yes, He can clean you up.
- 8:50He doesn't wait for you to clean yourself up before you come to
- 8:54him. But he loves you too much to
- 8:56leave you in that state. And He's going to systematically
- 9:02show you piece by piece what it is that He wants you to
- 9:06consecrate, and to get rid of, and to release, and to let go. 8
- 9:14Every Sabbath he shall set it in order before the Lord,
- 9:17continuously, before being taken from the children of Israel by
- 9:22an everlasting covenant. So weekly they were to set these
- 9:2612 cakes out. Nine, And it shall be errands,
- 9:31and his sons, and they shall eat it in the holy place, for it is
- 9:34most holy unto him of the offerings of the Lord made by
- 9:38fire, by a perpetual statue. So as the people were bringing
- 9:43in their sin offerings and their trespass offerings, as the
- 9:46people were bringing in their peace offerings, here was the
- 9:50food for the priest, and these were the cakes.
- 9:53These were the loafs that they were to eat, these unleavened
- 9:57cakes, friends, 12 of them, and they represented the 12 tribes
- 10:01of Israel. 10 And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father
- 10:06was an Egyptian went out among the children of Israel.
- 10:10And the son of the Israelitish woman and a man of Israel strove
- 10:15together in the camp. 11 And the Israelitish woman's son
- 10:19blasphemed the name of the Lord, and curse, and they brought him
- 10:25unto Moses. His mother's name was Shalomi,
- 10:30the daughter of debris of the tribe of Dan.
- 10:34So real people, friends, real places, and a real time this
- 10:37actually happened. This is not a story in the Bible
- 10:41for us to go back and to read and get some kind of spiritual
- 10:44application. God doesn't hide the hard
- 10:49stories. That's how you know that the
- 10:51Bible was not written by man. The Bible is a book that man
- 11:00would not write if he could, but he could not write it if he
- 11:06wanted to. And that's what you need to
- 11:10understand is this story is one of the first stories as they're
- 11:16coming out from Egypt and they're in the wilderness and
- 11:22they were just a two week journey into the promised land.
- 11:28But it's going to take them 40 years because of their
- 11:31disobedience. And here we're getting to see
- 11:34one of the first stories of after the law comes in.
- 11:40And they were told time and time and time and time and time again
- 11:44what was required of them. And here, this young man who is
- 11:52half Israelite, half Egyptian, he blasphemes the God as if he's
- 11:59irreverent. And it's a light thing in this
- 12:01holy space. He's seen the fire by night,
- 12:06he's seen the cloud by day. This young man, he's seen the
- 12:10water gushing out of the rock, he's seen the bitter waters made
- 12:14sweet, he's seen the manna, he's seen the quail.
- 12:18And he has the reprobate mind. He has the irreverence to
- 12:27blasphemy God. And what you need to understand
- 12:33is that the blaspheming of the Holy Spirit is the unforgivable
- 12:37sin for our time. He said Jesus told us that those
- 12:42who blasphemy God or blasphemy Jesus will be forgiven.
- 12:47But if you blasphemy the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven
- 12:51of you in this life or in the next.
- 12:56And here you can see that this half Israelite, half Egyptian,
- 13:03did not care anything for the things of God.
- 13:06He did not care anything for this supernatural place that
- 13:10they were at, this fire on the mountain, the shakings, the
- 13:15rumblings. He's seen all of these things
- 13:19and he still in his heart cursed a holy God. 12 And they put him
- 13:33in ward, that the mind of the Lord might be showed to them. 13
- 13:38And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying, 14 Bring him forth that
- 13:43has cursed outside the camp, and let all that heard him lay their
- 13:47hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him so.
- 13:53You can see here that it is better for one to die for the
- 13:59sake of many than for the sin to be allowed to go in like leaven
- 14:06and ruin the entire lump. This is better for them in the
- 14:11outset to make an example, and it is unfortunate for this young
- 14:16man. But what it would do is
- 14:18reverberate this ripple effect into the camp, so that people
- 14:22could understand that they must keep the Lord's name holy, set
- 14:27apart, hallowed. 15 You shall speak unto the children of
- 14:36Israel, saying, Whosoever curses his God shall bear his sin. 16
- 14:42And he that blasphemes the name of the Lord, he shall surely be
- 14:46put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly
- 14:50stone him, as well as the stranger, as he that is born in
- 14:54the land, when he blasphemes the name of the Lord shall be put to
- 14:59death. So what you need to understand
- 15:01is that when you use God's name in vain, when you use the Lord's
- 15:08name as if it's a byword cuss word, then when you truly need
- 15:13it, it will have no power for you.
- 15:16You need to understand that in Jesus name all power is held.
- 15:21It is the name that is above all names.
- 15:24It is the name that has the ability to save and to heal and
- 15:28to rescue friends. But when we use it flippantly,
- 15:33when we don't think nothing about it, whenever we exchange
- 15:37these words for curse words, what we're doing is we are
- 15:47discounting and discrediting. And it is not that it takes
- 15:51anything away from it in the reality, but in our own minds,
- 15:55in our own self and our own emotions, and for our own lives.
- 16:00We bring on the unfortunate inability for it to have any
- 16:07power in our lives because we have taken it and we've degraded
- 16:12it. And we think of it as a light
- 16:14thing, when in the reality we must hallow it, we must keep it
- 16:19holy. We must never let the Lord's
- 16:21name be used as a cuss word. We should never let.
- 16:27And if you have asked the Lord for forgiveness, if you have
- 16:31breath in your lungs, it's not too late, friends, you can
- 16:35repent. You can turn from that and
- 16:37receive forgiveness today if you have ever blasphemed the Lord's
- 16:42name. But today, make a turn.
- 16:46Today make a decision never to ever use the Lord's name in
- 16:53vain. 17 And he that kills any man shall surely be put to
- 17:00death. And he that kills a beast shall
- 17:03make it good beast for beast. And if a man calls a blemish in
- 17:07his neighbor, he, as he has done so, shall it be done to him. 20
- 17:13breech for breech, eye for eye, tooth for tooth.
- 17:16As he has caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him.
- 17:21Again, you can see the loving kindness of God here, where he
- 17:26says that they should not enact a greater punishment upon
- 17:31anybody. He actually limits this
- 17:36retribution. He limits what can be done.
- 17:40This is not some barbaric, antiquated law, friends, that
- 17:44Jesus just came and did away with.
- 17:48Jesus fulfilled every bit of it. He did not come to abolish it,
- 17:52He came to fulfill it. He lived the perfect life
- 17:56because you and I never could. And if we would enact these
- 18:01things, you would see so much of the land get healed, so much of
- 18:05the land be able to sustain life for longer, and you would be
- 18:14able to see that there would be peace in the land.
- 18:19If we had immediate judgment and we did not prolong the justice,
- 18:27then you would see so much of the problems of our day be
- 18:33healed and to be able to sustain generations for longer.
- 18:41But as we can see it today, the birth pains have already
- 18:46started. The contractions are closer and
- 18:49closer together because we are so far removed from how God
- 18:54would have this world to be. And He said it would be so, and
- 19:00we should not be surprised when we see the leaves on the tree
- 19:04appear and we know that summer is near.
- 19:07And so it will be with the coming of the Son of Man.
- 19:10And he told us what the last days would look like whenever
- 19:14children are disobedient to the parents, whenever people are
- 19:18lovers of money and lovers of self, lovers of pleasure.
- 19:24You need to understand, friends, that this is the life that we're
- 19:28living today. Yes, it can go on for much, much
- 19:32longer, but by and large, we know that every single thing
- 19:39that the Lord has told us in his word will actually factually
- 19:45come to completion. And we can have global revival
- 19:50that would press the pause button for a while.
- 19:54But if you study revivals, friends, every time that the
- 19:57revival starts to wane, you see an immense amount of persecution
- 20:05come in. So you have to be careful what
- 20:08you pray for. And we do pray for revival.
- 20:11We do pray that the entire world gets saved, that God desires for
- 20:19no one to perish, friends, and that is our heart.
- 20:23But by and large, the words that you were reading.
- 20:27The words on the page from Genesis to Revelation must come
- 20:32to fruition. They must happen.
- 20:34And here, if we were to go back to this barbaric, antiquated
- 20:40word here in Leviticus, you would actually see so much peace
- 20:46and so much of our problems of this day.
- 20:51All the social justice problems that we're dealing with today
- 20:57would actually be remedied and rectified if we were to enact
- 21:02these things that you're reading. 23 And Moses spoke to
- 21:10the children of Israel that they should bring forth him that had
- 21:15cursed outside the camp to stone of stones.
- 21:18And the children of Israel did as the Lord commanded Moses.
- 21:22And of course, we are reminded of the lady who was caught in
- 21:26the act of adultery. She was set up by the way,
- 21:30because the man who was supposedly with her, they did
- 21:34not bring. They just brought her to the
- 21:36Lord Jesus Christ. And they said the law of Moses
- 21:39demands that we should stone her.
- 21:43What do you say? And what did he say, friends?
- 21:46He said you without sin be the first to cast the stone, and he
- 21:50started riding out in the sand. And this says from the oldest to
- 21:55the youngest, they started to depart because they realized
- 21:59that they had so much sin in their own life that they were
- 22:02not capable of picking up the stones to cast at this woman.
- 22:08And then he asks her, where are your accusers?
- 22:12And she says they're gone. And he says that he did not
- 22:14accuse her either because he realized she was set up.
- 22:18Friends, he realized that they had set her up and that she
- 22:25needed to be forgiven. But you also need to understand
- 22:29that when you are forgiven, you need to not go back to those
- 22:36things unless a worse thing what happened to you.
- 22:40That is what we miss. That's the part that we miss,
- 22:43friends. We think of the Lord Jesus
- 22:46Christ as someone who cosigns on sin and that He's OK with our
- 22:53sin. But I am here to tell you
- 22:56friends, that He loves you way too much to leave you in that
- 23:00sin. And yes, you can be saved, but
- 23:04He disciplines those that He loves.
- 23:10And we cannot think that just because we're outside of the
- 23:14Levitical law that we have a license to sin as much as we
- 23:20want so that grace can abound. Far be it from us to have that
- 23:25mindset. When the Lord saves you, He will
- 23:29sanctify you by and by systematically until in the end
- 23:34you will look like Him. You will walk like Him and talk
- 23:38like Him. You will want to be like Him
- 23:41because He is the model. Jesus Christ fulfilled every
- 23:46single one of these laws. What an amazing God we serve
- 23:52that we could never do it, but He did it for us and now we are
- 23:57the benefactors. Now we are the beneficiaries of
- 24:01Jesus's innocent life and we can have His life.
- 24:07We can have His righteousness as He takes all of our sin and cast
- 24:12it as far as the east is to the West, and we can walk in that
- 24:15reality that we are forgiven completely and none of our sins
- 24:21will ever be counted against us. What an amazing God we serve.
- 24:25I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's
- 24:28Word. I know I sure have.
- 24:30I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 24:32I love you and we'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 24:34God bless you.
