Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Chris from Hippophrenic. I did the vocals. We're a five
- 0:05Speaker 1: piece extreme metal band from Brisbane, Australia. I've been working
- 0:11Speaker 1: on this project since roughly about twenty twenty three. And yeah,
- 0:19Speaker 1: playing Necrosonic this year. It's a really really killer lineup.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Really excited to see ballso again. Yeah, it should be awesome.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Man, that's it, Chris, thanks for joining us, brother.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I no problem at all.
- 0:35Speaker 3: As you say, made Hey Briffernique one of thirty bands
- 0:38Speaker 3: to send it on Brisbane's Mansfield tap it on August
- 0:41Speaker 3: at twenty third for Necrosotic Festival twenty twenty five. Like,
- 0:44Speaker 3: it's still a few months off yet made, but I
- 0:46Speaker 3: know I'm excited, how about you?
- 0:49Speaker 1: Yeah, man, really really excited. Yeah, we're kind of. We
- 0:53Speaker 1: actually got asked last year and unfortunately, just with scheduling
- 0:57Speaker 1: we couldn't make it happen, and luckily we got to
- 0:59Speaker 1: do it this year. And yeah, we're actually bringing in
- 1:03Speaker 1: our debut album this time around with us, so get
- 1:06Speaker 1: to play some live songs that have never been played before,
- 1:08Speaker 1: which is really exciting.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah, Anice, So the festival features, as you said before,
- 1:13Speaker 3: there's balls out, there's poort all the Days and a Laram,
- 1:17Speaker 3: Frankenbot Bean Flipper. The list just goes on, mate, But
- 1:20Speaker 3: who are the top three bands that you can't miss
- 1:22Speaker 3: on the day?
- 1:24Speaker 1: Excited to see him? Pestrichell on a really big stage,
- 1:27Speaker 1: that'd be cool. I remember seeing them with Morbid Angel
- 1:31Speaker 1: a couple years ago. That was awesome. Seas are going
- 1:34Speaker 1: to be really good, Melinda Dura another really cool Brison
- 1:38Speaker 1: bands playing as well. Yeah, it's pretty solid line.
- 1:44Speaker 2: And it is man, it is now. This is a
- 1:46Speaker 2: tough one, bro, because, like I know, from my point
- 1:48Speaker 2: of view as.
- 1:49Speaker 3: A putter how I feel and how much I look
- 1:51Speaker 3: forward to a festival this, But from your point of
- 1:53Speaker 3: view as a musician, like, do you still get the
- 1:55Speaker 3: same level of excitement about a festival because you've got
- 1:58Speaker 3: to play and it's working little bit?
- 2:00Speaker 2: You sort of got to look at it differently.
- 2:04Speaker 1: No, No, it's it's it's still really exciting. Like I said,
- 2:07Speaker 1: we'll have pretty much a new album to push, so
- 2:11Speaker 1: being able to work up towards that he's going to
- 2:15Speaker 1: be pretty exciting. And no, it should be cool. It's
- 2:19Speaker 1: going to be a big day, right it is?
- 2:22Speaker 2: What drip are you guys on your day.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I'm not not not too sure just yet, mate.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Know.
- 2:29Speaker 3: So last year's inaugural Necrosotic was a massive success, which
- 2:33Speaker 3: no doubt led to a cover back this year.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Is it?
- 2:35Speaker 3: How good is it just seeing a festival of this
- 2:37Speaker 3: made up of mostly Australian bands. They're all brutal as fuck, Like,
- 2:41Speaker 3: it's sort of it's great to see the little little guys,
- 2:44Speaker 3: I guess getting into it.
- 2:48Speaker 1: No, it's fantastic to see Keno work his way back
- 2:51Speaker 1: to where he was and he took a bit of
- 2:52Speaker 1: a break from putting on shows and he's sort of
- 2:55Speaker 1: come back all fire burning, you know, from from all account,
- 3:00Speaker 1: last year was successful enough to be able to bring
- 3:02Speaker 1: some international bands over, which is really cool to see.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Yeah, and like to say, man hat soft, you can't
- 3:09Speaker 3: organize it, Like I know from experience, putting together a
- 3:12Speaker 3: four band lineup is a headache, So put thirty bands
- 3:15Speaker 3: on must be a fucking nightmare.
- 3:18Speaker 2: He's eager, that's one way to put it. Now.
- 3:23Speaker 3: One road think about festivals like this is a chance
- 3:25Speaker 3: to see bands for the first time that you might
- 3:27Speaker 3: not have heard of before. So just say Hebrew Fredika
- 3:30Speaker 3: is one of those bands for someone that hasn't hurt
- 3:32Speaker 3: you before?
- 3:33Speaker 2: Tell us a bit more about you guys.
- 3:36Speaker 1: H Yeah, so it's it's extreme metals. We've sort of
- 3:40Speaker 1: got the influencers from early black injustmental bands from the nineties.
- 3:46Speaker 1: But yeah, it's very We're very focused on the production
- 3:51Speaker 1: and the stage sounds to provide like a very unique
- 3:56Speaker 1: sort of package. It's frantic, it's and it has quiet parts.
- 4:02Speaker 1: The vocals are just unhinged and it's just designed to hurt. So, yeah,
- 4:07Speaker 1: come on and check out a.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Way to put it.
- 4:10Speaker 3: How about a typical live show from you guys? What's
- 4:13Speaker 3: like he's got a typical live show? Has it changed
- 4:15Speaker 3: from show?
- 4:17Speaker 1: So this this cycle that we're doing is obviously going
- 4:21Speaker 1: to have a few of our album songs on it,
- 4:23Speaker 1: so being able to play them for the first time
- 4:25Speaker 1: it's going to be awesome. But yeah, like we'll be
- 4:28Speaker 1: playing three songs of our he that came out two
- 4:34Speaker 1: years ago, and yeah, it's just it's strap yourself in.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Nice.
- 4:41Speaker 3: So there's one quote in the press release you sent
- 4:44Speaker 3: me that that says here and a coal form to
- 4:46Speaker 3: embody the fractured psyche in the modern world. Like I
- 4:50Speaker 3: don't even know what that means, but it sounds cool
- 4:52Speaker 3: as fuck.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Thank you. A lot of the lyrical themes in here
- 5:00Speaker 1: deal with mental health and mental disorders, and you know,
- 5:05Speaker 1: we all come from a pretty breaking place and sort
- 5:08Speaker 1: of trying to channel that into the music and yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 1: so it's just encompassing that ideology into the artwork, into
- 5:19Speaker 1: the lyrics and just really making it something really confronting
- 5:23Speaker 1: has always been our goal and nice.
- 5:27Speaker 3: And you've mentioned debut full Leck album that'll be company
- 5:30Speaker 3: out this year, bro, so tell us a bit more
- 5:32Speaker 3: about that.
- 5:32Speaker 2: What more can you tell us?
- 5:35Speaker 1: Yeah, we're actually looking releasing it on Necrosonic Day, so
- 5:40Speaker 1: August twenty third. Yeah, I can let you know that
- 5:44Speaker 1: the album is called The Cassis. Yeah, it will be
- 5:48Speaker 1: coming out in August, and we'll have copies available the show.
- 5:54Speaker 1: It's forty minutes of just relentless extreme wait back.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and then they had that was a different music
- 6:03Speaker 3: for your twenty twenty three EP, Non compost Mentis.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Non compass Mentis was a lot more urgent and a
- 6:13Speaker 1: lot more frantic. I felt we had a lot of
- 6:17Speaker 1: riffs that just moved like a steam train, And with
- 6:23Speaker 1: The Cassis, we really sort of tried to create more
- 6:26Speaker 1: of a mood and a cinematic feel with the compositions,
- 6:31Speaker 1: So I guess it has more of a black metal
- 6:34Speaker 1: aesthetic to a lot of It moves and shifts a
- 6:38Speaker 1: lot more, and it's less impulsive with the riff structures. Yeah,
- 6:44Speaker 1: we're really really excited about actually being able to play
- 6:47Speaker 1: these songs live and hopefully you can pull them off.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Where's the best place for people to find out more
- 6:55Speaker 3: about the band and keep up.
- 6:57Speaker 2: With what you're doing.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Yep, So we have our label, got a Prince cabol
- 7:02Speaker 1: who have a lot of information from us. We've got
- 7:06Speaker 1: our Facebook page, we've got an Instagram page. They're always
- 7:09Speaker 1: up to date with our movements and what we're up to.
- 7:11Speaker 3: And yeah, nice brother, nice all right, Chris, Well, thanks
- 7:16Speaker 3: for your toime.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Ro It's been a pleasure speaking with you.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Heavera friendy at Necrosonic at the Mansfield Tavern on twenty
- 7:23Speaker 3: third of August with thirty other bands, And as you say,
- 7:26Speaker 3: the album's out the same day, so make sure you
- 7:28Speaker 3: take an extra thirty bucks with you and buy a copy.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks for having us mate. Look forward to and
- 7:33Speaker 1: we'll see that
