- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: Hi, Haley.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_02]: Hi, Terra.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: Good morning.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: Good morning.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's in my record.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_03]: I have my March.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_03]: I have my March.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: I'm actually wearing my pajamas.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_03]: We're doing, if you could tell, we're just wearing this one.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_03]: When you were doing the intro.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm wearing the pajamas that Haley bought me that I got when I was down in Georgia with her a couple weeks ago.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_03]: And I love them.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_03]: They're so really cute.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: Can I tell you?
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: So for our besties at home, you'll recognize next week when we talk about this.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: But we are recording this week's episode after next week's episode.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: So it's just so weird of us who just wanted that past us.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't really don't know why.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: It really was, I realized because we, as of y'all listening to this today, we had a dark week last week.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: We had a little week off.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: We really don't take weeks off.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: We don't.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: And so we wanted to like slot in like a little fit in a record to be didn't have to record last week and I realized that was why.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: But in that episode, I wanted to wear my August shirt.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I worked today.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: It says August slipped into a moment in time.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that makes sense.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: I remember in next week's episode what it said.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: We were like, so hope of it all.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: What is it saying?
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: You guys know more than next week us, which was yesterday us.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 1:53[SPEAKER_03]: The mental gymnastics there is just so good.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: So good.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, we're recording in the morning because I have worked later.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_03]: Healy is about to go away for the week that we're taking off, which will have happened last week.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's when you're listening to this.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_03]: Again, the mental gymnastics of it all so funny.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, we're here today to do a little Gilmore to consider on season seven.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_03]: And we decided to have a little breakfast recording, so for eating breakfast.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: Hey.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: Are you eating breakfast with us?
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: Or if you're eating dinner, maybe you could have breakfast for dinner.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, pancakes for dinner.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, fun.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_03]: I love that.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_03]: I love that.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, me too.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_03]: My daddy is to do that.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_03]: He, especially when I'm alone.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's such a dad thing.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_03]: It's such a dad thing to be like, you know, my pancakes.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, is that because that's the only thing you're doing.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_03]: Or like eggs or eggs.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_03]: No, actually my dad is a really good cook.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_03]: My mom, she would say this to you.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not talking shit.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_03]: She's not a good cook.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my gosh, I'm shocked.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, no.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: Great maker.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: Is it because elder jeans a great cook?
- 2:52[SPEAKER_03]: She's a good cook.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_03]: But my mom is a great baker has never really been into cooking.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_03]: She can make some big stuff.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: My mom is not really about cooking.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's why I love to cook so much.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like, whenever she sees recipes on Instagram, she doesn't save them, she messages them to me.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I love that.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: And one time I got like six and a row, I was like, are you hungry or are you like sad with what I've been making lately?
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: Could be both.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's to say, Kathy is to say, that's true.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: Kathy is to say.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: Before we get into it, I did want to mention if you are at Liana Bayes start in the nearby area.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: Next week, I will be in conversation with Ashley Jordan, who wrote once upon a time in Dollywood and I am obsessed with this book.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_03]: Haley was telling me yesterday.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_03]: She's so excited about this book.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: So well written, like, it's one of those things that like, as you're reading it, you're like, this is her debut.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I cannot wait to see what comes from her because this book is just fantastic.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: And I was telling Tara that I feel like the two main characters are like, if you pulled Laura Liapar into two different people and had like kind of that like presentfulness of her family and like some of the things that have gone on in her past.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: and kind of altered it just a little bit and then had that like really like community forward friendly bubbly person and had those two people date each other.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of what this book is like, um, set in Tennessee and it's just, I, I'm loving it.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're in Atlanta, it's at all the tropes bookstore to romance bookstore.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll be there, my Mandy's coming up for it.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm just excited to talk to Ashley, get to know her more.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: She's also going to be on the podcast later next month, month after.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure if the editing schedule for that, but she will be there and we'll be talking about it.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm super excited.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: So in our show notes, we'll have links to tickets, but I'm just really excited.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's going to be a fun time.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: I just like all the romance book girlies all in one place.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: I wish I could go.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_03]: It sounds like it's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: It will be cow will be there.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_03]: I know.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_03]: I'm so jealous.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'm see can't even read much like you.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_03]: Much like me.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_03]: We have that in common.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, we actually hilariously decided during our episode that we recorded yesterday that's going up next week.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_03]: The guys will know a lot more going into next episode than we ever will.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_03]: But our next week's episode is a what if episode, but we started out by talking about how we would rewrite season seven because we of course noted that as we went through season seven.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_03]: So we actually ended up not having time to read off these what if by the end of the episode so we're gonna start cuz these were so much time talking about everything we'd want to rewrite and I have a feeling that was gonna happen as we started I was like oh, this is gonna take forever cuz all we do is the app
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: And like there was just so many things.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I was laying in bed last night remembering more things that I wanted to rewrite.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_03]: And I just, I might have feeling we wouldn't need to do another episode about it.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: Like really diving in and rewriting.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_03]: Well, we get very, we get specific next week.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_03]: We get specific general as well.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like there are ways we could have gone even deeper.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, because I mentioned the whole thing about like rewriting Logan's whole storyline in season seven.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, okay, I kind of wanted to do like a full fan fiction episode of like rewriting Logan season seven.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think the girlies with love.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think the girlies are me especially I am the girlies.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_03]: I think that Logan girlies would rise for that because I hope so.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like even like not slogan girlies because like I think that that like if I was not a Logan girly watching season seven I'd be like this man.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah girl.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah exactly because you guys never do because you don't
- 6:44[SPEAKER_03]: So before we get into a couple of voicemails, which I'm excited to play for you, I wanted to get into some of the what-ifs that are besties left for us in our question box on Instagram.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to try to go in chronological order because I think that that would be nice.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_03]: It kind of mirrors what we do next week because we go episode by episode.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_03]: This one really made me laugh.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_03]: Howdy said, in what if instead of running to Christopher, Laura, I went to Jason.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_03]: I bet he wants a crazy kinks.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh wow, you really didn't really set that.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I don't think that that was why she ran to him.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: I like, hey, I imagine he's particularly, um, I don't know.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like when I, when I think of Chris, I'm not thinking particularly skilled in the bedroom, I think more like familiar.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but if that presentation Chris, you know, um,
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: kind of like one of those like nice guys finish last I don't I don't think he subscribes to that um but he I agree with that really I feel like Chris is just like really good at what he does I don't know why
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: See, I feel like he would be like a familiar sort of person to be with and like it's probably very easy for them to be good together because- Yeah, always together.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: But otherwise, I don't know that Sherry was having a great time.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: This turned into something entirely different, but-
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm dead.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm dying.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, keep going.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: But Jason, if we're focusing on the Jason part of it, I don't know that it's serving the right, I don't know that it's serving anything to the story for it to happen and maybe it doesn't need to.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's just the idea of like she slept with someone else.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, through
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: through everything out the window.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_03]: But do you think that it would have felt like a big, a betrayal?
- 8:52[SPEAKER_03]: Because it's clear that Luke feels like this is a betrayal when it happens when she comes in.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, because it's Christopher.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_03]: He freaked out when he left a voicemail at the house.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_03]: Correct.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_03]: So do you think that somebody else, it would have felt a little bit more?
- 9:08[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, forgivable is not the word I want to use, but it's hard to say.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: Because like,
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that for Rory, it was last painful because she didn't know these people.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like they were just like old flings of Logan's that he slept with and like the act like it was like they didn't mean anything to him and that was almost worse.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: That like this was you were just flitting around with these women.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: When it comes to Lorelie, it feels like, oh, it didn't mean anything.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's almost just as bad as it meaning.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: Something.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't premeditated.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't like before their relationship ended.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: She all went to him.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't know.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to think of what it would come to with Jason.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm imagining Chris.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, not Chris.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: Luke, walking up to Jason's door, punching Jason.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: Knock knock.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: And he'd be like, Duke.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_03]: Do you came and punched me?
- 10:18[SPEAKER_03]: No, it had to be Christopher if this was going to be the storyline.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_03]: And I know we're kind of, it's like end of season six, but it really, you know, translates to the beginning of season seven that we're discussing here.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: It translates to what we know season seven to be.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: Because like that was like that was like the final act of Amy Scherman Paladino was doing that and we don't know what her intention with it was.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: We know her intention ultimately was to have him kind of estranged from the younger girls.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's what we saw in the revival.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: So we can only imagine that that's where that was headed.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think it had to be Chris, but like, I'm just trying to think of like, what if it was Jason?
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that anything really would have come from it.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that was a relationship.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: She was going to revisit it.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: I could have seen a friendship blooming from it.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like I know they were friends.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_03]: I do think that's a trajectory of season seven would have shifted because then we wouldn't have seen this like alternative romance much less a marriage.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think we would have because we already saw the relationship between Jason and Laura like playout.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_03]: We didn't need to see again.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_03]: We never saw the relationship between Chris and Laura like playout.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's why they pulled it that thread.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they could put it back though.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they could just just sew it right back in.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but with Jason, I feel like maybe
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: he would have like pushed her more in wanting to get to the root of why she came to see him because Chris kind of accepts that she's not going to say anything that like she gets really snappy with him when she's leaving and I think that Jason maybe would have accepted that but like pushed a little harder and been like what's going on.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's fair.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the he would have been maybe more of a friend.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe Jason was her kinky confidant according to our bestie.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, maybe so.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_03]: This is a two parter than I'm going to kind of mold into one.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_03]: What if Laura like went with Luke and they all opened and what if Laura like didn't tell Luke about Christmas?
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, yeah, I know.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, worse than not telling him that Christopher and her drink to Kyla.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, infinitely, infinitely worse.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_03]: Because she technically didn't do anything wrong with the first one.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_03]: She just was.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_03]: And I guess she didn't do anything wrong in the second one.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_03]: It's just more hurtful.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's more terrible.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: She definitely did something wrong.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_03]: You're telling me if you kind of like break up for the evening you go sleep with someone else and then someone shows up the next morning to a lope and you're like okay, no, no, I'm saying that like her sleeping with Christopher inherently and like she and Luke were broken up my from my vantage point that technically wasn't like cheating, you know what I'm saying?
- 13:07[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, she didn't tell him, yes, I'm just saying that with the tequila, um, she wasn't doing anything wrong.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, that one, there was nothing wrong.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_03]: It was just she kept it from him.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_03]: It was that she kept it from him.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: The sleeping was clearly with him.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_03]: I don't love it, but we've talked about before on the podcast that like, it's not cheating.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, but in the what if circumstances, it's cheating for sure, because like the idea that like they kind of broke up for the evening,
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: She went up with her.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: And then she marries him.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it gives back and reach over one hundred percent.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: The next day, yeah, just some time.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_03]: I'm so with you on that on that front.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: That that's what I was like, I thought that's what you were saying.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, it's just not bad.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, I just didn't.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: No, I just didn't.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_03]: I was deleting the circumstances.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, yes.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: But like I said, yeah, the event show.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no reality of the show.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: I was two steps ahead, and I thought you were like, no, and apparently it's not bad to be with you.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: The father of your daughter's child, the night before you go get
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think they would never end up together.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be the sort of thing where that is like two deep of a betrayal and my onion.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_03]: I just think it would make Laura lie the villain.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't want her to be the villain.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: I like her.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_03]: I love her.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: I love Lorelei.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: I like her in season seven too.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to dislike her in season seven.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_03]: I also loved Lorelei in season seven.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I didn't love all of the choices she made, but she stills in a lot of ways still felt like her.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_03]: In talking about how everybody was kind of like a caricature of themselves.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_03]: Lorelei, Lauren did a really good job at rooting.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_03]: The characters that she could.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that her choice is that she made a lot of times I was like maybe wouldn't have made those same choices.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think she was always making a choice for trying to like make the best of the situation.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree with that.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: That like I don't think she ever did anything to Chris that was like purposefully.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: No, not at all.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think she had the best of intentions every time.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that sometimes she recognized the reality of her relationship, like she was like, sometimes it's better to lie.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, no, I mean, it's not, but like, I also better to lie about what?
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she didn't tell him about the custody.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, sure, sure.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: The letter.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: The letter.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: The reference.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: The recommendation letter as I called it.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: The recommendation letter.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: I recommend you as a father.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, if she hadn't told him, I just like don't, I see them getting divorced.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: One hundred.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: And then go more girls ends kind of sad.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: As if it didn't end kind of sad.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that they'd ever be able to get past that.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't, I wouldn't either.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't, not if I was in that situation, me being like, for my love of lore life.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it's like, ready for Epstein.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I, I got past that.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I just, but, um,
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: But I have had seasons to get past it.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she made so many worst decisions.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not worse.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: Equally as bad.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that I just kind of was like, yeah, throw that one away.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_03]: I just think that the way that it played out.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, her honesty, she needed to be honest about that.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I know that part of the reason she told him was to get him.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think she wanted to tell him.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_03]: She wanted him to leave.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_03]: She just wanted him to leave and stop asking her.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: Which is... She says something along the lines of like, my life doesn't make sense unless you're in it.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: She's like, I slept with Chris.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: Because when I was like... Like Logan, worse.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_03]: Like mother like daughter.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: But like, she doesn't even like Chris.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: Just she's up with them.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: But if, if the response would have been my life doesn't even make sense without you in it, I think that's the line.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: So these, most of the line, if she'd have been like, okay, let me go change out of my DMEs.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think she had her pajamas on.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and uh, they go to Maryland.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: And it, what if it just never came up?
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: No one ever said anything about it ever.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it just was something that we had to hold tension with with Laura live for the whole season.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I don't know how I would feel about that.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_03]: I truly don't.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how I would feel.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_03]: And it never came up and she never told him she would not kiss my car and he died.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_03]: Someone actually put that in the what ifs.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_03]: They were like, Chris got in a car accident and died.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: No, okay, but that's a thing is like One can keep a secret or like two can keep a secret if one of us is dead pretty little eyes so I just I don't think that the character of lore lie would be able to like shoulder them guilt
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: We're just something.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: So entering pretty little lights.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_03]: But all in all, she needed to tell him, I think it would have been really tough to see her not tell him or like tell him on the way to Maryland.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_03]: Something like that.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: The windows are down.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: Her hair is blowing.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: I slept with Chris.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: You why?
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: The wind's loud.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: It sounded like you slept with Chris.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: I did.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: I did.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's true.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_03]: Do you want to pull over?
- 18:27[SPEAKER_03]: Talk about it.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_03]: Because we famously don't have conversations in the car.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_03]: Get out.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_03]: Kick the tires.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_03]: I think that it unfortunately happened the way that it was meant to happen.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I like that it happened like immediately.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: So we had like plenty of time.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like we had twenty two episodes to get over it.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_03]: It's true.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_03]: It's true.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_03]: And again, like, you know, will or like did
- 18:54[SPEAKER_03]: was her choice.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_03]: It feels like a betrayal.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I would feel betrayed if like, oh my god, I don't even want to think about this.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_03]: But if like, if Brighton, I got into like a huge fight.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_03]: And for whatever reason, it was just like, okay, like, then we're done.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_03]: And he went and slept with one of his exes, went and slept with Christopher.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and he went and slept with Christopher.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I'd be able to, I don't know how I would move through that.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, well, you would probably marry someone else.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: and then get divorced, and then come back to him.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to talk about that.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: Or I did.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: But Laura like, right, but you have to marry one of your trashes.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, but it is Laura's life.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just mad.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_03]: And I got to deal with somebody's daughter.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody driving a car through my podcast.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: It was probably me.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: No, but then you'd have to date a swim coach and go through a custody battle and then help him buy a car.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: And then we'd meet up.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then we just kiss and make a tent or you would make a tent for his daughter.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_03]: Wow, we both have daughters in this situation.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_03]: I know.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_03]: And there's only one Luna, so.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's true.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: That's so true.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, moving through the series, someone said, what if Sherry didn't ask to see Gigi?
- 20:20[SPEAKER_03]: They never would have gone embarrassed.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_03]: And do you think that they would have gotten married?
- 20:25[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, because I wonder if the setting for everything really
- 20:31[SPEAKER_03]: provided the impetus for them to feel like, oh, we need to get, like, it's just everything so romantic.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_03]: Let's get married now.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there was an element to that.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: There was also the element of, like, Laura, I wanted to go a loop.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, they eloped in Paris, and it would have felt too similar for them to elope in the US, I feel like, oh, I, I hear you cannot get eloped in.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: Maryland.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that that would have been too similar.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think that maybe they would have had a failed engagement.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that they would have gotten married.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_03]: Because like someone asked what would have happened if Laura Lye didn't marry Chris and Paris, they just got engaged.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think that part of it is like, if like the option is failed engagement, like a third one for Laura Lye, or a, it's a little bit giving the foreign engagement rings of civil reign.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_03]: I know that way.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: I would have, I think that getting married kind of shifted that a little bit so that like when she got divorced at felt like more final.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but yeah, I think I could have, I think I could have
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to take it back.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think I would have preferred that actually.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think for them to get engaged.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's because fake Paris didn't feel like worthwhile.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like that storyline really was just to get them to Paris.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't see Sherry.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about it.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about it a lot next week in that episode about rewriting Sherry's involvement in that episode.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: Once Gigi is like out of the cold open, we don't see her again.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: It really is just them in Paris at that point.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it could have been a much more interesting storyline to keep them in the US and just get engaged and Emily be planning their wedding in a way that she was not able to with her engagement to Luke.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think that would have been interesting.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, no Paris.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I, I'm, I'm wavering on how I feel about them getting just engaged in Paris.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm just leaving Paris entirely.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, delete a Paris.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: Delete a Paris.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_03]: I just think that like, I've always stood by those that like, these two in the narrative needed to see what their relationship could be and what their marriage could be in order to recognize that it was never going to work.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, not that Laura Lai was pining for Chris during her relationship with Luke.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_03]: I really don't think she was at all.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_03]: Once that crumbled and fell apart, it was like, oh, there's this other person that has always been here.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe this is my person because they've always been there.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_03]: Why wouldn't it be Chris?
- 23:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_03]: But to that end, the last one that I want to read is what if Chris came to the hospital in I'd rather be in Philadelphia and supported Laura Lai more in their marriage?
- 23:39[SPEAKER_03]: And I do wonder what
- 23:41[SPEAKER_03]: We would have thought as an audience about Chris, had he shown up and been a supportive husband and hadn't been like his little temper tantrum, Christopherself, throughout, you know, the majority of like the latter half of their relationship in season seven that made us want lower light to leave.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_03]: We have been rooting for that relationship to end if the relationship in and of itself was fine.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_03]: If he wasn't jealous of Luke, if he was like, hey, look, like, this guy's in your life.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_03]: I can't, you know, I'm not going to stop you from having him in your life because I feel really confident about where we're at.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_03]: Like, what would that have looked like for that relationship to have ultimately fallen apart if that's where we're headed for her to end up with Luke?
- 24:29[SPEAKER_03]: Did it mean to have conflicted at need to have problems or would it have been better if Laura like realized
- 24:34[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you're great.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_03]: It's not about you.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, I just, again, we land at the same conclusion.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_03]: You're the man I want to want to want.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_03]: But Chris doesn't have to have a fucking temper tantrum on the way there.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: I actually think I would have liked it more.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: because really the moment that everyone is like done with Chris is at the hospital.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: I would love to hear anyone who like when Chris doesn't show up that like you're like still kind of rooting for him that like you think that he could be better when he doesn't show up to Richard being in the hospital.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: Um, cause that's it.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, hmm, we're actually done.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: And like the way that he talks to Bory versus talking to Laura Lies, like completely egregious.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_01]: I agree just, but yeah, if he was supportive, I'm, I'm going to like reference like fan fiction days.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: There was nothing more devastating for a story.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: then like if like say like worry and Logan weren't together and like worry was with someone else and the way that they worry and Logan got together is because worries boyfriend cheated on her and you're just like well that was way too easy like now she feels betrayed and she's gonna go be with her want true love it's like you need to like
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: give people like the agency to make these changes themselves, otherwise I feel like they mean less.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: And so like in this case, I feel like crisping the one to be so threatened by Luke that that in the relationship.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: kind of steers towards that of like they didn't even have a chance.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: He like didn't even give them the opportunity to have a marriage.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: He was too jealous and like kept being like, this is this isn't all in my head and you're like, we're all like, yes it is.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: And she has done nothing.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_03]: She has it done in the way to make you or us feel like you're being lied to.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: And so I feel like it's kind of like Chris kind of feels like she's cheating in some way, but she's not.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like when she was like, it was just a letter.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: It went like a love letter.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: I love letter.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like the way that he said that, like it's just like, oh, like after she writes, he of course reads the character reference and he says it reads like a love letter.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, okay, I didn't, I don't love letter to the court.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: Dear court, love nor lie.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like, imagine running a love letter to your ex via the law via George Bell's book.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: Professor Bell.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite part of that episode is that he's still filled as Professor Bell.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but who might be able to some bail-in?
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's got to make ends meet like or he's got passions I got it passions or he's doing some sort of research project Something whatever whatever that man needs It's very immersive.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's undercover.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's an undercover cop this whole time.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's like a secret agent.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: He's a secret spy.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_01]: I watch you guys too recently.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: So there's of course.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_03]: She's very secret spy.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_03]: You know what movie I watched recently was hitman with a
- 27:37[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, how was that?
- 27:38[SPEAKER_03]: I actually thought it was quite terrible, but it has a very high percent injury on front to me.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_03]: And I love Glenn Powell.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, Glenn Powell.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm thinking of fall guy.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, different.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: Ryan Gosling one.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Emily Blunt.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_03]: Different.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_03]: Different.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, this was hit man.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, the first half of the movie I was like, I'm on board.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_03]: And then the second half of the movie I was like, where are we going?
- 28:02[SPEAKER_03]: I got off board.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_03]: It is certified for Ash.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_03]: I'm Ron Tomatoes.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, very all bright.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: I both did each other and we're kind of like, I love him.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_03]: I would watch him do anything.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_03]: I liked it more than present.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_03]: Which I think so too.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_03]: And I did.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_03]: I thought his characters were really fun.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, the reason I bring that up is because he's working for the police in the evenings.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_03]: And he's like a teacher, he's a professor.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_03]: And so I was like, Professor Bowell.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: They, I get the one in the same on the time.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: Would you rather have dinner with Professor Bell or Glen Powell?
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Glen Powell.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, Professor Bell.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'd rather have dinner with Professor Bell.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like he's much better stories.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_03]: I think we'd have a great time.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I'm not denying I'd have a great time with Professor Bell, but have you seen Glen Powell?
- 28:52[SPEAKER_03]: You're engaged.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm engaged woman, and I will never forget that.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to teach you.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_03]: But I would still have dinner with Glenn Powell and just be there.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'll call you and ask why he was working in the mediation that day.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_03]: Or I'll call until you.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_03]: But circling back to, you know, the Luke and the Christopher and the Laurel I love triangle here.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_03]: I really think that where we would have, what was the question?
- 29:22[SPEAKER_03]: It was about Chris and him being as supportive.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, right, right, right, okay.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think that love letter.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think that we do court.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_03]: I think that it would have been a lot more complicated and we would have gotten that layer cake instead of a sheet cake.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_03]: If it wasn't as simple as just like Chris's jealous of Luke, Luke and Christopher Haley Chuther and our randomly fighting in the street, we don't ever really talk about it again.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_03]: And like Chris is just reading as this jealous angry husband who doesn't trust Laura Lyle of a sudden.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_03]: And it just and and Laura lies not doing anything in my opinion.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_03]: Like I said to lead us or him to believe that he's right about that that he can't trust her.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_03]: She seems all in on him until all of a sudden she's not and it's like I
- 30:18[SPEAKER_03]: And I understand why.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: It's just when she says to him, you're the man I want to want.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_03]: She basically, like, really confirms for him that your, your fears and like what you think are not untrue.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's whole time she was like not putting up a front, but like she wasn't all in.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_03]: It made her realize like, oh, I really wasn't ready for this.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_03]: And they kind of talk about that, you know, and he acknowledges like I pushed you.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_03]: And I think had he been patient with her.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think had he been more like I am all in, which may not be in Christopher's nature.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_03]: I think he would have been all in.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_03]: on her no matter what, had Luke not been in the picture, had they not had the history they did, maybe had Luke not gone and punched him in the face, who's to say, you know that, that really got it, that really, that really kicked it off.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_03]: Punched it off.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_03]: Punched it off.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, I really don't, because I don't know if it would have changed
- 31:21[SPEAKER_03]: Too much about whether or not we root for Chris, but I think it would have added a lot of layers to the story.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_03]: If Chris was showing up as a supportive husband and essentially doing everything right, he's just not the right guy.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I really would have loved to have seen how they were going to show that.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: I also think it would have helped us to accept more that Lorelei wasn't all in, which I think the Chris has something along those lines, because I know that that's like a famous Luke line.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: Chris has something similar at the beginning of season seven when he's in the kitchen after he takes Rory to dinner.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: I forget exactly what it was.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was in Royalized First Catillion that he says it.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: But that he's like basically he's here.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's in it for the long haul.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and he's going to wait for her.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: I would have loved to have seen without looked like because I feel like
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: Chris from season six had the capacity to do it like he he could have done it and I would love to see more of Laura lies struggle with that and realizing that like this just wasn't the right person and why
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: Because like we can see why.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's season seven.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: But like I would have loved to see why this wasn't the right choice.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: If he was showing up in all the right ways.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_03]: Again, I would have loved for it to be more complicated and nuanced.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_03]: And not have relied on everything season six gave us to just like, yeah.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I was through.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't want any sort of like cheating or like that.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: But I would have loved to see her.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like, have an interest in Luke that didn't just come from nowhere, which again, we talk about a lot next week that like a lot of seasons and seven is relying on our previous understanding of these characters and previous affection for them.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: The like it feels like, oh yeah, everyone wants to look in the more light to be together.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: So when it starts kind of bloom again, no one's going to have any qualms with it because it's been happening for the last six seasons when we don't really see it any reason as to why it would come up.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: Then.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I would love to see why she ends up with Luke.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: Why he's the right guy without one of the guys just being fucking awful.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: He was.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_03]: Unfortunately, that is what we got.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_03]: But anyway, I'd love to play you a little voicemail.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_03]: To really wrap this up before we get into the what ifs and kind of rewriting as we do in the next episode.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_03]: So let's hear from our best alien.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's these, my name is Lane, and I've so enjoyed listening to Gamora Reed visiting on Patreon, but now you're doing with season seven.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_00]: I want to know what your fan fiction season eight, because we both know that Amy and the new showrunners wanted it to continue.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_00]: So what will we have seen?
- 34:18[SPEAKER_00]: If we stick with the Cannes Valley, then we'd at least see a little bit of Rory on the campaign trail, or if we start from scratch to clearly maybe it would have taken her an extra year to graduate after the time off in season six,
- 34:28[SPEAKER_00]: would be see some of the revival timelines like Luke and Laura like to have another kid maybe that comes back and touring with that comes a lot of new opportunity for head alien really just where do you think our characters would have ended up if they had an extra year to grow.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait here talking to her I will soon.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_00]: Bye.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: My goodness I didn't even I hadn't even thought about that.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_03]: I know you know we hadn't
- 34:51[SPEAKER_03]: really talked about that in this evaluation of season seven and analysis.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_03]: We've really like gotten into the nitty gritty about what we would change and we'll get into that next week.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm curious just your initial thoughts on what a season eight would have looked like because as we talked about extensively in last week's episode, this was the finale.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_03]: Like, there are, this must have been the week before when we covered Bombayage.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_03]: I just feel like this was the finale.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_03]: They had to know they weren't getting a season eight.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_03]: But if they really thought there was a possibility that they would, what would it have looked like?
- 35:23[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that the answer on the Amy front is so different because I don't know how she would have ended this in season seven if this was the last season.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_03]: I think that had she gotten what she wanted.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_03]: We would have gotten two more seasons from her.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_03]: and and the story would have been very different.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_03]: She clearly ended season six the way that she did.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_03]: That was the intention.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_03]: She was going to pull it that thread and figure out how everything like the can of worms, you know, was put back into the can with more life and Chris and Luke.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_03]: They don't come back in.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if they come back in.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_03]: It's like hurting cats, but I think that when it comes to these show runners, I don't know what they would have done with
- 36:09[SPEAKER_03]: Boris character with Logan.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_03]: I guess we would have seen Laura lie and Luke.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe they would have attempted to have, you know, to start building their next chapter of their lives together.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: Now that worry, you know, like, for all intents and purposes, Laura, like, really is an empty nester and, you know, Luke navigating everything with April, with they have just been like co-parenting with Anna.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I just don't know what they would have done.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_03]: Do you have any knee-jerk?
- 36:36[SPEAKER_03]: reactions to that.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: I have a couple.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that it had been an Amy situation.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think that it probably would have been like a season's long getting Luke and the Royal Air back together.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that that was like a wrong impulse from the season seven writers.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think that makes sense.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think especially given that she slept with someone else, we need time.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: We need time to like adjust to almost like backtracking, but like going forward, that like we got to get over this.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the audience, the characters, we all have to ease back into this.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it probably would have been a season's on journey.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: So for Luke and Laura, I feel like it probably would have been a season eight would have been the first couple episodes a little bit more courting.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: Probably playing a little coy.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: This is like maybe if like
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: Famously we think that it would have been better if they didn't kiss yeah attention would have just existed there and The promise of more was on the way and then in season eight we get the promise of more and so maybe like their first kiss and like I Think that once they finally hit that point of like first kiss first time together like everything back together I think they would have come back like guns ablaze and like
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: like they never broke up, right?
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I do like the idea that maybe they were exploring the option of markets, because where he is gone, because April is only part time his part time custody.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that that would have been like an interesting sort of storyline.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think that maybe
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: We would have had some in drama like with Emily wanting the spa like that ultimately comes up in the revival so like I don't see that being too far from where Like it could have ended up in season eight Where really deviates for me is for me because I don't know if Amy would have had her going out on
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: Barack Obama's parade tour.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: But, but ultimately he does get elected president.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: So like, how does that play into it?
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: I know because like, two thousand seven to two thousand eight, like he, he wouldn't have like one election yet.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: yet, but then he would have.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: But he would have later that year.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: So it kind of would have, I guess this would have ended in May.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: So we wouldn't have any of the huge sort of movement in his campaign yet.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: But he was very successful up until that point.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I would have been interested
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's to how Rory fared on that, because now I don't necessarily think it would have been super interesting just for Rory story.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: For Rory's storyline, that's hard to say, to become very political in nature.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't even think it has to be necessarily very like seriously political, but I just mean in the sense of like, I'm thinking like, Vib.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: you know, like every shore.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a comedy of errors.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: Of like the politics and the newspaper aspect of like being surrounded by journalists who are all reporting on the same thing or similar things because they're all on his parade tour.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: So I wonder how that would have played out.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's the biggest question for me because I don't know that Amy would have had worry doing that.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_03]: And with her season eight, I again think we would be looking at something very different.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm going to see something really blunt and probably a little mean.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_03]: I think that had these writers carried out season eight if they had been picked up for another season.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_03]: I think it would have been worse in season seven.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think so too.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: I might kind of rewriting this in the hopes that like, it ain't so bad.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think they would have lost the plot.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_03]: I just exactly because like, admittedly, and I give them their flowers for this, the finale was great.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so how you then pick it up.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: It was really good.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_03]: It was good.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_03]: The finale was a good finale considering everything that we witnessed in season seven to then pick it up and continue the story from there.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think would have been a mistake.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_03]: I think would have just been again more like alternate universe stars hollow that I just don't know that we needed to see that.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, here's the other part of this, is I was like, oh, what if they did a time jump?
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: That would have also been confusing, though, because Vory would have been on the campaign trail, and we would have had to confirm or deny the Barack Obama was president.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just said pregnant.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: Oops.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: If he was president.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: Words are falling off right now.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but yeah.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_01]: So I was like immediately was like, Oh, well, let's save it because you can't jump off from that point.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe they could have fixed it a little bit with a time jump.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: That would have been confusing.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_01]: Very.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they just never touched on it.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: Or they never talk about it.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: They like like almost like a joke never mentioned who the president is.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, or there's no more presidents, you know, monarchy now, where something happened on that campaign trail with where you're more.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she's the queen of America.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_02]: Ice cream queen.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: She's a baby.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: Queen of America by night.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't know.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's the only reason a time jump would have been odd is because
- 42:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's where she was headed and the only way for us to know is just like wait, what like five more months.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: But I think taking that aside, I think that in an Amy season seven to season eight, I think we could have seen a time jump.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_01]: I also like the idea, I'm all over the place right now, of worry being on the campaign trail and reconnecting with Logan in that way.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, you know, the whole idea and the revival that we just saw was that he saw her in Hamburg.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that was what you were wearing then.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: And it was like, maybe this is what she was wearing when he saw her in Boise.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think that it could have given her an opportunity to, you know, maybe even reconnect with Jess too, like if she's on the campaign trail.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_03]: You know being in Philadelphia, but I don't know but I think on the whole I don't think a season eight from these writers would have been fulfilling and I don't know what story line they would have pulled up because again as I've said
- 43:11[SPEAKER_03]: up down inside ways.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_03]: They relied so heavily on what Amy gave us in the first six seasons, but specifically season six to carry us through season seven.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_03]: If we were relying on season seven to carry us through us, he's in eight in this world.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_03]: Not that's not a girl in the world.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_03]: I think I want to see respectfully.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: I would watch it, but is it when I want to see probably, probably actually yes, but I wouldn't super enjoy it.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: I probably enjoy as much as I enjoyed seven, but to that effect, I keep forgetting that these are the writers that would be writing a season eight and not Amy, because the only way an eight would truly exist.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: In my opinion, if they had a season eight,
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: After telling Amy, she couldn't have a season eight.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well, that was amazing.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: What?
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: What a, I'm not even in a really tough.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: So like in my mind, eight really is an A, eight.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: And in my, my thought process there is that in the same way that I've revival does, like that was the intention the whole time.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, eight seasons to tell the story, according to her.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what we're building towards.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's why I'm like thinking like she's on the campaign trail, she has to reconnect with Logan at some point.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_01]: But I do love the idea of, uh,
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: the love triangle of Logan ever since that uh who was the best he was a Emma that called in uh mentioning her sleeping with Jess like ever since that moment I was like let's just back we still love triangle I know um we'll cause like seeing them in ballacas in in uh season six was so deliciously
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: I just, he's gay.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: And like we haven't gotten together yet.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: But like, we're excited.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_03]: I'm excited.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_03]: You're a team, Jess girl.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_03]: I know it in my heart.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_03]: I know it in my heart.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_03]: I don't say rude things about me.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_03]: It's not rude.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_03]: It's facts.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's a fact.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, next we see this five.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_03]: Well, when we're in season two, we're watching that together for Patreon.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone can be season two team Jess.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's not that hard.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not even there yet.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's not even a thought in the sky.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, we'll see.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_03]: Next week's episode is our What If episode.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_03]: It's really about us rewriting season seven.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_03]: I know we covered some What Ifs in at the beginning of this episode, but I have some more voicemails.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_03]: I want to play for you, but I would like to save them because we're going to do a couple of Gilmore to consider as after our What If episode.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm excited to get into that.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_03]: But next week we'll do a little re-write of season seven.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_03]: I will have more to say on that in the next episode.
