- 0:26Speaker 2: We just got it. really dig in and solve this thing. Again,
- 0:29Speaker 2: this is the week of, you know, anytime you go
- 0:31Speaker 2: into a bye week, you go into evaluation mode as
- 0:34Speaker 2: far as, you know, identifying the things that you need
- 0:37Speaker 2: to work on and solving those.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Kellen Moore after the Saints fall to two and five.
- 0:43Speaker 1: They lose in Paris. The stat that everyone, of course,
- 0:46Speaker 1: is going to talk about, the 17 rushes for 18 yards.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Not a single back got more than 10 yards rushing.
- 0:54Speaker 1: First time that's happened to the Saints since 1993. only
- 0:58Speaker 1: the third time in franchise history. One of my contentions,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I guess maybe my criticism of Kellen Moore has been
- 1:08Speaker 1: that we all can identify what the problems are. He
- 1:12Speaker 1: just doesn't know how to fix them. Can you play seven, please?
- 1:17Speaker 1: This was when he was asked specifically about the solution
- 1:21Speaker 1: for the running game.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I think there's certainly an opportunity to find those solutions.
- 1:26Speaker 2: We've got to dig into it. We've got to evaluate it.
- 1:28Speaker 2: We've got to take the emotion out of it. I
- 1:30Speaker 2: think that's the challenge of the NFL seasons is we're
- 1:34Speaker 2: all frustrated and there's a lot of emotions with it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: You've got to take the emotion out of it and
- 1:37Speaker 2: truly just evaluate it and find what the next steps are.
- 1:48Speaker 3: This is where my patience is kind of running.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I'm trying not to do the whole red-faced rant, yelping,
- 1:54Speaker 1: which I think a lot of you would like to
- 1:55Speaker 1: see today and would be very cathartic. But at some point,
- 2:00Speaker 1: there's no use for shouting because we know what it
- 2:03Speaker 1: is and where it is. But here you have the
- 2:08Speaker 1: head coach saying you have to take emotion out of it.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:17Speaker 1: First of all, Kellen Moore is already an emotionless being. we,
- 2:23Speaker 1: we play, play another one, play number one. This is
- 2:25Speaker 1: Kellen Moore talking about improving the running game.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah, obviously we have a bi-week and we have to
- 2:30Speaker 2: put a lot of work into it because, uh, again,
- 2:32Speaker 2: there's just too much ebbs and flows. There's weeks where
- 2:33Speaker 2: it's good and there's weeks where it's not. And, um,
- 2:36Speaker 2: you know, we just weren't able to get any movement and, um,
- 2:39Speaker 2: create any increases in the opportunities in the run game, say, uh,
- 2:41Speaker 2: 17 for 18, you know, and Tyler's got a couple
- 2:44Speaker 2: of scrambles in there. And so, uh, you know, it
- 2:46Speaker 2: wasn't good enough. You know, we, we had to throw
- 2:48Speaker 2: the ball. Okay.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Okay. Like, He says nothing, and I'm not telling you
- 2:55Speaker 1: that a coach needs to go into a post-game press
- 2:57Speaker 1: conference and divulge trade secrets. I think there's also the
- 3:03Speaker 1: reality that the team is looking at him, and if
- 3:09Speaker 1: you don't believe at this point the men in that
- 3:12Speaker 1: locker room are looking at Kellen Moore standing in front
- 3:16Speaker 1: of them, regurgitating the same drivel week after week after week,
- 3:22Speaker 1: and having the same problems week after week after week,
- 3:25Speaker 1: if you don't think that's a problem, then I don't
- 3:30Speaker 1: know that you and I could have an intelligent conversation
- 3:32Speaker 1: about where the state is. Not that anybody I think
- 3:34Speaker 1: at this point disagrees with me. The New Orleans Saints
- 3:40Speaker 1: actually are not the worst rushing team in the NFL. Packers, Raiders, Cowboys, Bengals, Eagles, Texans,
- 3:48Speaker 1: all worse than the Saints at yards per game. The
- 3:51Speaker 1: Saints are at 86 yards per game. By the way,
- 3:54Speaker 1: the Raiders are second from the bottom, if you missed that.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Who's the Raiders running back, by the way? Who's that?
- 4:00Speaker 3: It's Ashton Genting. Didn't they use a high draft pick
- 4:04Speaker 3: on that guy? They did, yeah, top five. Wasn't a
- 4:06Speaker 3: lot of.
- 4:06Speaker 1: People here trying to say the Saints should have drafted
- 4:08Speaker 1: Jeremiah Love this past draft?
- 4:10Speaker 3: Yes, they were.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Who does he play for? The Cardinals.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Yeah, the Cardinals, by the way, who are averaging 96
- 4:17Speaker 1: rush yards a game. That's only three spots better than
- 4:19Speaker 1: the Saints. Listen, having a dynamic running back, yes, can
- 4:24Speaker 1: make you better. Would this offensive, would this rushing attack
- 4:27Speaker 1: be better with Travis Aitken? I think objectively, yes. It's
- 4:31Speaker 1: why you paid him money. He's been a thousand-yard rusher
- 4:33Speaker 1: in the NFL. But the point is, you don't have
- 4:37Speaker 1: to have a dynamic running back to be great. And
- 4:40Speaker 1: just because you have a dynamic running back doesn't mean
- 4:42Speaker 1: you're going to be great. The Chicago Bears are leading
- 4:46Speaker 1: the NFL in rushing offense right now. DeAndre Swift... Is
- 4:51Speaker 1: there a leading rusher? Followed by Kyle Monungai. Did I
- 4:56Speaker 1: say that right?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Monungai? Am I saying that right? I think it's Monungai. Monungai. Monungai.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I missed a syllable. That's my point! Don't even know
- 5:08Speaker 3: the freaking guy's name! Anybody know where he went to school?
- 5:13Speaker 2: You know?
- 5:13Speaker 3: I don't know where that guy is. It doesn't matter!
- 5:20Speaker 1: Like running the football in the NFL, yes. If you
- 5:24Speaker 1: have Derrick Henry and B. John Robinson, yes. Of course,
- 5:32Speaker 1: when you have that guy, it helps. Yes, of course
- 5:36Speaker 1: it does. No one would be so naive as to
- 5:37Speaker 1: acknowledge that. But your running scheme matters. What did we
- 5:42Speaker 1: hear about the whole year, two years ago?
- 5:47Speaker 3: Outside zone, outside zone, outside. It was all about outside zone.
- 5:53Speaker 1: When you had Kubiak here, they spent the whole offseason
- 5:56Speaker 1: implementing that offensive structure. And even though you had injuries
- 6:00Speaker 1: on the offensive line and at running back, you still
- 6:04Speaker 1: were effective running the football because you had a system,
- 6:07Speaker 1: a scheme that played into your personnel.
- 6:11Speaker 3: The problem, the biggest problem I see here, and I'm
- 6:14Speaker 3: not grabbing a....
- 6:17Speaker 1: I'm not grabbing a marker and going to the dry
- 6:19Speaker 1: erase board and trying to like break down zone blocking schemes.
- 6:24Speaker 1: It's been a long time since I played high school
- 6:26Speaker 1: offensive line. But there's some things that conceptually work at
- 6:30Speaker 1: every level or truths.
- 6:31Speaker 3: At every level. And this is one of them.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Your runners are not talented enough. Alvin Kamara is old.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Kendra Miller is a wasted draft pick. He is a bust.
- 6:45Speaker 1: We can all agree to that. You used a third-round
- 6:47Speaker 1: pick on him. He has given you nothing. He can't
- 6:49Speaker 1: stay healthy. When he is healthy, he cannot hold on
- 6:53Speaker 1: to the football. He is a bust. What else are
- 6:57Speaker 1: you looking at? Okay, Aitken comes back. Aitken was there
- 7:03Speaker 1: the first two weeks. You still couldn't run the ball
- 7:05Speaker 1: with him. You've implemented a running offense, a scheme with
- 7:11Speaker 1: this coach that does not match your personnel, clearly. Because
- 7:17Speaker 1: you have invested a lot of money and a lot
- 7:19Speaker 1: of draft capital into that offensive line. I don't need
- 7:22Speaker 1: to go through it again. But even when you were
- 7:25Speaker 1: whole the first two games, you still couldn't run the football.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Against Detroit, the worst defense in the NFL, and Baltimore. So,
- 7:39Speaker 1: I'll keep going back to it. And we can listen
- 7:42Speaker 1: to 100 sound bites of Kellen Moore talking about play
- 7:47Speaker 1: number three. Here's Moore from Ellen after the game.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I think we really have to dig into it from
- 7:55Speaker 2: step one, evaluate the whole season as a whole, and
- 7:59Speaker 2: find solutions.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Play number four. Moore-Ellen, play number four.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I think certainly that's an important aspect of this thing.
- 8:07Speaker 2: When you have a day like today, 17 runs for
- 8:10Speaker 2: 18 yards, it's going to be hard to win football
- 8:12Speaker 2: games doing that. And so, you know, while there's some
- 8:14Speaker 2: other things I think were real positives for our football team,
- 8:18Speaker 2: we weren't able to get that done.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I mean, he can talk about it over and over
- 8:22Speaker 1: and over again, but all he does is speak in
- 8:25Speaker 1: circles and broad generalities and cliches. And I could accept
- 8:30Speaker 1: a coach not giving me answers in a press conference
- 8:34Speaker 1: and if on Sundays you saw progress change material difference.
- 8:40Speaker 1: When I keep sitting here every Monday after watching the
- 8:44Speaker 1: same bull-ish every Sunday, it tells me he knows there's
- 8:51Speaker 1: a problem. We all know there's a problem. He does
- 8:54Speaker 1: not know how to fix it. And the players in
- 8:56Speaker 1: that locker room are losing faith if they've not lost
- 8:59Speaker 1: it altogether in his ability to do so. So I
- 9:03Speaker 1: will continue to say this now moving forward. This is
- 9:06Speaker 1: all about Grandma Gail at this point. Do you have
- 9:10Speaker 1: any bite behind your bark? And it's not going to
- 9:14Speaker 1: matter this year. If you fire Ellen right now, or
- 9:17Speaker 1: you fire Mickey Loomis right now, it ain't going to
- 9:20Speaker 1: matter for this year.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Like, your roster is what it is.
- 9:25Speaker 1: You got your behind whipped on both lines of scrimmage yesterday.
- 9:30Speaker 1: And you have some really daunting challenges ahead at Chicago
- 9:34Speaker 1: and at Cincinnati. I mean, can you imagine this secondary
- 9:38Speaker 1: with Higgins and Chase? Good freaking luck. Carolina, which can
- 9:45Speaker 1: sling it around. I mean, it'll matter. Like you're heading
- 9:50Speaker 1: for a sixth consecutive season without the playoffs. But the
- 9:57Speaker 1: sunk cost fallacy is real. Do you keep investing time
- 10:01Speaker 1: and money and energy into something you know is not
- 10:05Speaker 1: going to work just because you've invested so much in
- 10:09Speaker 1: it into this point to say, well, I can't walk
- 10:11Speaker 1: away now. We've got all this invested. If you open
- 10:15Speaker 1: up a pizza shop And you spend your life savings
- 10:18Speaker 1: on the building and the dough and the recipes and
- 10:20Speaker 1: marketing and all of it, and nobody's coming to your
- 10:23Speaker 1: pizza shop. Like, do you go take out a loan
- 10:26Speaker 1: to invest more money into your pizza shop that's failing?
- 10:30Speaker 1: Or do you say, it's time to cut my losses
- 10:33Speaker 1: and move on? Like, that's where the New Orleans Saints
- 10:35Speaker 1: are organizationally. They've tried for six years. And for six years,
- 10:42Speaker 1: you keep seeing the same thing. different coaches, different players,
- 10:46Speaker 1: different quarterbacks. It's your GM who doesn't know how to evaluate,
- 10:50Speaker 1: who doesn't know how to hire, and your head coach
- 10:52Speaker 1: that does not know what he's doing. It is beyond time.
- 11:00Speaker 1: The ball is in Grandma Gail's court at this point.
- 11:03Speaker 1: We'll see what she does.
