- 5:13Speaker 2: hateful and discriminatory language has no home in the Big
- 5:17Speaker 2: Twelve Conference. While we appreciate Colorado apologizing for the chance
- 5:24Speaker 2: that occurred from the stands, the Big Twelve maintains zero

- 8:56Speaker 2: got one. Today we're going to hear from Rangers general
- 9:01Speaker 2: manager Chris Young on the departure of Hall of Fame
- 9:07Speaker 2: manager Bruce Bochie after the Final Lap. Brought to you
- 9:11Speaker 2: by Chad Jones Law.
- 9:14Speaker 4: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 9:17Speaker 4: do injuries from car rex. But you didn't sign up
- 9:20Speaker 4: to be in a car wreck with someone who wasn't
- 9:22Speaker 4: paying attention. It was their fault and now you're left
- 9:24Speaker 4: to deal with the consequences. You need to see a
- 9:26Speaker 4: doctor and you're missing work. Chad Jones Law can help.

- 9:46Speaker 5: NASCAR Xcinity Series race recap from Kansas Speedway.
- 9:49Speaker 6: I'm Kerrie Murphy.
- 9:50Speaker 5: Brandon Jones led fifty four laps on the day to
- 9:53Speaker 5: grab his second win of the season, third Kansas career
- 9:56Speaker 5: win and seventh of his career. He moves on to
- 9:58Speaker 5: the Round of eight of the playoffs.
- 10:00Speaker 7: But I'm sure we're within our preparation for the Rovo.
- 10:02Speaker 7: We're going to try to work in Las Vegas as
- 10:04Speaker 7: well to get kind of a week ahead on that track,
- 10:07Speaker 7: because it's probably even more important than this one, just
- 10:10Speaker 7: having Tala Dayga, having Martinsville thrown in that round. They're
- 10:14Speaker 7: two very capable of winning race tracks, but they're also
- 10:17Speaker 7: very capable of other people kind of I guess, you know,
- 10:21Speaker 7: putting you in bad situations and kind of ending your
- 10:24Speaker 7: day whenever you know it's.
- 10:25Speaker 8: Not really on you.
- 10:26Speaker 7: So I would rather take it in my own hands
- 10:28Speaker 7: and be able to get it done. Out of track
- 10:30Speaker 7: we know we're really good at with, which is Las Vegas.
- 10:33Speaker 7: Company has been really good there with Joe Gibs Racing,
- 10:35Speaker 7: They've always had fast cars, They've got wins at the
- 10:37Speaker 7: organization at Vegas.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I've been close to winning races.
- 10:40Speaker 7: There a couple of times, and I haven't fully fully
- 10:43Speaker 7: broke through yet and figured out the trick to it.
- 10:45Speaker 7: But we'll begin to work hard on that and kind
- 10:48Speaker 7: of figure out where we were at this year as
- 10:50Speaker 7: far as our speed and if there's things we could
- 10:52Speaker 7: have done better.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Justin Olguyer actually led the most laps at seventy nine
- 10:56Speaker 5: on the day, but he ends up finishing thirteenth. Connor
- 10:59Speaker 5: Zilich was a second, followed by Austin Hill, Sammy Smith,
- 11:02Speaker 5: and Sheldon Creed rounds out the top five. Up next
- 11:04Speaker 5: to the NASCAR Xfinity Series is the Charlotte Rovo Road Course.

- 11:49Speaker 12: about the Chick fil A Pretzel Cheddar Club is that

- 11:54Speaker 11: That bun, It's.
- 11:55Speaker 12: Chrispy, cozy, just amazing with the pretzel bun. The Dijon
- 11:58Speaker 12: mustard in the chicken makes that sweet, savory kind of combination.
- 12:02Speaker 12: It's everything that you love about food rolled into one.
- 12:05Speaker 12: It looks phenomenal, it tastes great, It's delicious.

- 12:22Speaker 14: Shot Caleb tell us me, this is me John Cena
- 12:39Speaker 14: pain Shaw.
- 12:40Speaker 15: Tis time now?
- 12:43Speaker 6: You can't see?
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yes, the time is now, you can't time? All right,
- 12:51Speaker 2: that's enough, That's that's more than enough.
- 12:54Speaker 1: It's plenty.
- 12:56Speaker 8: Uh.
- 12:56Speaker 2: After we left last night, I'm at home scrolling and
- 13:00Speaker 2: up comes to Twitter feed that Bruce Bochie is no
- 13:03Speaker 2: longer the manager of the Rangers. Now I'm not shocked,
- 13:08Speaker 2: beyond belief of Frankly. I know that Bochie had told
- 13:14Speaker 2: Kevin Sherrington of the Dallas Morning News less than three
- 13:17Speaker 2: weeks ago he wanted to.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Come back, and.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Chris Young said they met yesterday and quote mutually agreed.
- 13:29Speaker 2: And I don't know how much of that is mutual,
- 13:36Speaker 2: but I tweeted this out. We've talked about this forever
- 13:42Speaker 2: on this show. Is on the field. With athletes, you
- 13:47Speaker 2: can never get equal value for a Hall of Fame player.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I don't care what sport it is, right, doesn't matter
- 13:57Speaker 2: which sport you trade a player or you let him
- 14:01Speaker 2: go in free agency. You can never get equal value
- 14:06Speaker 2: for that player. Well, the same thing applies to managing.
- 14:12Speaker 2: You cannot get equal value for a Hall of fame
- 14:17Speaker 2: manager unless you hire a Hall of Fame manager. And
- 14:24Speaker 2: since Skip Schumacher, who's going to be the next you know,
- 14:29Speaker 2: manager of the Rangers, has had one year of experience
- 14:34Speaker 2: with the Miami Marlins.
- 14:40Speaker 8: You know it.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I don't, I don't get it. I'll be honest with you.
- 14:44Speaker 2: He was there two years, he won Manager of the
- 14:46Speaker 2: year's first year, and then they you know, it's the Marlins,
- 14:49Speaker 2: and they, you know, messed everything up the second year.
- 14:54Speaker 16: Uh.
- 14:54Speaker 2: And so he came to the Rangers as you know,
- 14:56Speaker 2: special advisor, you know that kind of thing, and has
- 15:01Speaker 2: been the manager and waiting and I think Chris Young
- 15:04Speaker 2: has been waiting to put Skip Schumacher in that position.
- 15:10Speaker 1: He told Bochie. Well, I don't need to tell you
- 15:15Speaker 1: what he told Bochi.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Let's let's hear from Chris Young, who had a zoom call,
- 15:20Speaker 2: a hastily called a zoom call with the local media
- 15:26Speaker 2: in Dallas Fort Worth last night after that announcement was
- 15:30Speaker 2: made for.
- 15:31Speaker 11: Our press release.
- 15:32Speaker 17: We've usually agreed that Bruce Bochi will not be returning
- 15:35Speaker 17: as our manager. In twenty twenty six on behalf of
- 15:39Speaker 17: the entire Texas Rangers organization. I'd like to express my
- 15:41Speaker 17: gratitude to Boach and his wife Kim for all they've
- 15:45Speaker 17: done for our organization. You know, three years ago Boach
- 15:49Speaker 17: came to the Rangers in pursuit of his fourth World
- 15:51Speaker 17: Series championship. He brought instant credibility, wisdom, and legitimacy to
- 15:55Speaker 17: a team looking to emerge from a rebuild. It only
- 15:59Speaker 17: took him one season to accomplish a goal that had
- 16:01Speaker 17: eluded this organization for fifty two years. And while the
- 16:04Speaker 17: last two seasons have fallen short of our goals, Boach
- 16:07Speaker 17: will forever be a legend of Texas Rangers history.
- 16:10Speaker 11: Beyond this Hall of Fame pedigree.
- 16:12Speaker 17: As a manager, he's one of the best people this
- 16:14Speaker 17: game has ever seen. His tremendous humility and sense of humor,
- 16:18Speaker 17: blended with an intense competitiveness and care for his staff
- 16:21Speaker 17: and players, set bouch apart. I am so grateful for
- 16:25Speaker 17: the opportunity to have partnered with Boach over the last
- 16:27Speaker 17: three years, and I will forever cherish our friendship with that.
- 16:30Speaker 11: I'm happy to answer any questions.
- 16:33Speaker 18: Okay, everyone, we'll move to questions. I do want to say,
- 16:37Speaker 18: you know, given tonight's news, we wanted to go ahead
- 16:40Speaker 18: and address this situation and news tonight. We will do
- 16:44Speaker 18: an end of season wrap up press conference hopefully here
- 16:47Speaker 18: at the end of the week, but for tonight, you know,
- 16:50Speaker 18: hoping to keep the focus on this topic for the
- 16:53Speaker 18: most part.
- 16:55Speaker 19: Evan, go ahead, see why this Obviously you guys met
- 17:00Speaker 19: obviously very quickly after the season. Can you give us
- 17:03Speaker 19: any insight into what visions you may have shared with
- 17:08Speaker 19: one another about and what may or may not have aligned.
- 17:14Speaker 17: Yeah, Evan, And it's you know, it's it's interesting because
- 17:18Speaker 17: I was talking to Rich about this earlier the you know,
- 17:20Speaker 17: in twenty twenty three, when we went to votes, I
- 17:23Speaker 17: think we had a little more clarity as to what
- 17:25Speaker 17: the vision was and where things stood and uh, and
- 17:28Speaker 17: a little more certainty in terms of payroll, and you know,
- 17:33Speaker 17: we don't have that at this point, and we're you know,
- 17:35Speaker 17: at a point where we needed to make a decision. Certainly,
- 17:39Speaker 17: you know, the first year went great, the next two
- 17:41Speaker 17: years not as well. And without having you know, perfect
- 17:46Speaker 17: vision and clarity, it's hard to spell out all the
- 17:48Speaker 17: details that said, you know, there's such mutual respect for
- 17:52Speaker 17: one another. You know, we felt like this was the
- 17:55Speaker 17: proper way to go and and proceed given that, you know,
- 18:00Speaker 17: there's probably going to be some changes necessary in twenty
- 18:02Speaker 17: twenty six, and a different voice in the dugout will
- 18:06Speaker 17: help advances forward.
- 18:08Speaker 19: And I know this is this is primarily about Boach today,
- 18:12Speaker 19: but the the prevailing school of thought has been that
- 18:17Speaker 19: you hired Skip Schumacher with the idea that he would
- 18:19Speaker 19: be a potential success or. Has anything changed there? Where
- 18:23Speaker 19: does Skip stand in your hierarchy on this yet?
- 18:26Speaker 17: Evan and full transparency, we have not had any of
- 18:31Speaker 17: those conversations. You know, we will begin an interview process.
- 18:35Speaker 17: Obviously Skip is in the organization and will be a candidate.
- 18:39Speaker 17: But this was really focusing on twenty twenty six right
- 18:45Speaker 17: now as it related to Bruce Boci and you know
- 18:48Speaker 17: where he is, where we are, and what the future holds.
- 18:51Speaker 11: Thank you. I'll let Kennedy go on.
- 18:56Speaker 20: Go ahead, Kenny, I guess Skip notwithstanding, and I mean,
- 19:00Speaker 20: what kind of things are you looking for going forward
- 19:02Speaker 20: with this managerial search right now for overin the next
- 19:05Speaker 20: couple of weeks.
- 19:08Speaker 17: Well, Kenny, it's a great question. Because this has come
- 19:10Speaker 17: on very quickly. You know, obviously we've we've known this
- 19:14Speaker 17: as a possibility, but it's happened fast. And so we've
- 19:17Speaker 17: got to sit down as the front office the remainder
- 19:18Speaker 17: of the week and kind of talk through those things
- 19:20Speaker 17: and you know, to find some of our criteria and
- 19:23Speaker 17: talk about some of the things that we need to
- 19:26Speaker 17: improve upon as we move forward here to get back
- 19:28Speaker 17: to where we want to go, which is being a
- 19:30Speaker 17: World Series contender and a perennial playoff contender. You're in,
- 19:34Speaker 17: you're out, and so with that we will continue to
- 19:37Speaker 17: do it. But I you know, I think some of
- 19:38Speaker 17: the some of the things that we can't expect. We
- 19:42Speaker 17: are probably going to be a little bit of a
- 19:44Speaker 17: younger team next year, There's no doubt about it. There
- 19:46Speaker 17: is going to be player development that continues at the
- 19:48Speaker 17: big league level, and I think those are going to
- 19:50Speaker 17: be important aspects of of whomever we select as our
- 19:54Speaker 17: next manager. And you know, beyond that, we'll continue to
- 19:59Speaker 17: look at the different criteria and what's most important and
- 20:03Speaker 17: you know, the ability to to instill believe, conviction and
- 20:08Speaker 17: unity within a group for one common goal. It's it's
- 20:12Speaker 17: extremely important. So I don't have a perfect answer for
- 20:15Speaker 17: you yet, but we will define that in the coming days.
- 20:20Speaker 11: Thank you, Chris. Go ahead, Sean, Hey, Chris.
- 20:25Speaker 21: I don't know if this is, you know, be directly
- 20:28Speaker 21: related to Boat or something you guys will discuss further.
- 20:30Speaker 21: But as far as the rest of the coaching staff is,
- 20:33Speaker 21: you know, where do you stand with that? Will will
- 20:36Speaker 21: they be impacted by this? How do you see that
- 20:38Speaker 21: playing out?
- 20:40Speaker 17: Yeah, Sean, It's it's again hard to answer at this point.
- 20:42Speaker 11: I can't make that.
- 20:45Speaker 17: I can't answer that without knowing who the next manager
- 20:48Speaker 17: is going to be and what he will need to
- 20:52Speaker 17: be set up for success. So I can say I
- 20:54Speaker 17: have great admiration and respect for our coaching staff. I
- 20:57Speaker 17: know how hard they worked. I know how much they
- 20:59Speaker 17: poured in day in, day out, to our players, to
- 21:02Speaker 17: our organizations, our team, and while the results didn't match
- 21:06Speaker 17: what we all expected this year, it's no fault of
- 21:10Speaker 17: our coaching staff and they're all in great standing. But
- 21:12Speaker 17: I can't comment as to what the future holds.
- 21:16Speaker 11: Thank you, Jeff.
- 21:21Speaker 22: Go ahead, Hey, Chris, So did you present to Boach
- 21:30Speaker 22: what next season is going to look like? And then
- 21:33Speaker 22: he made a decision is that how it played out.
- 21:37Speaker 17: Jeff, we we had a conversation and talked about, you know,
- 21:41Speaker 17: some of the things that will change next year, you know,
- 21:46Speaker 17: and some of those we have certainty on some of
- 21:47Speaker 17: them we don't, and just you know, what the future
- 21:50Speaker 17: looks like and and what may be needed with some
- 21:54Speaker 17: of those changes. So, you know, this was a conversation
- 21:57Speaker 17: between the two of us. And and you know Boach
- 22:01Speaker 17: and his just unbelievable way is just so respectful and
- 22:07Speaker 17: and easy to work with, and you know, always wants
- 22:11Speaker 17: to prioritize what's best for the organization, and you know,
- 22:15Speaker 17: and has never once put himself ahead of that, which
- 22:19Speaker 17: speaks to his tremendous humility and and what a great
- 22:23Speaker 17: person leader he is. So uh, this was a mutual
- 22:27Speaker 17: conversation and in the end, we you know, agreed that
- 22:31Speaker 17: this is what's best.
- 22:32Speaker 22: Did he express an interest in continuing to manage.
- 22:37Speaker 11: He asked questions about the organization?
- 22:39Speaker 17: I can't say that he he never asked for an extension.
- 22:43Speaker 17: We we you know, it never came to that. So
- 22:47Speaker 17: you'd have to ask Boach in terms of the level
- 22:49Speaker 17: of interest. But I certainly, you know, and I kind
- 22:52Speaker 17: of compare it to twenty twenty three when I met
- 22:54Speaker 17: with him in Nashville. There, you know, I could spell
- 22:57Speaker 17: out a little bit more as to where we were
- 22:59Speaker 17: and what the future holds. And I didn't have all
- 23:01Speaker 17: the answers today, which you know makes it challenging for
- 23:04Speaker 17: both parties.
- 23:06Speaker 22: Okay, and I know we sounds like we're gonna talk
- 23:09Speaker 22: later this week, but it sounds like you're talking about
- 23:12Speaker 22: a quasi rebuild here or is that a that's.
- 23:16Speaker 17: I would not categorize that at all, Jeff, that word
- 23:19Speaker 17: has not been said, and I would not categorize that
- 23:23Speaker 17: at all. I believe we have a great foundation right
- 23:26Speaker 17: now in terms of the core players that we have,
- 23:31Speaker 17: and I believe that we can continue to build a
- 23:34Speaker 17: winning team even if the payroll does come down.
- 23:38Speaker 11: Okay, thank you, Chris. Go back to Evan.
- 23:46Speaker 19: So see why, just to clarify, right, you said that
- 23:48Speaker 19: nothing was determined. There were no coaches that were notified
- 23:51Speaker 19: that they will not be returned. That's still all just
- 23:53Speaker 19: up in limbo.
- 23:54Speaker 11: Correct, yes.
- 23:55Speaker 8: Correct.
- 23:56Speaker 11: The other thing is, I I know.
- 23:58Speaker 19: That this was again about your situation in your process,
- 24:02Speaker 19: but the news out of San Francisco today came came
- 24:04Speaker 19: up you know, Buster was asked directly about Boche. Did
- 24:10Speaker 19: you feel it was important to get this done even
- 24:14Speaker 19: more quickly given how there would be speculation about that situation.
- 24:21Speaker 17: You know, Evan, I really didn't take into consideration the
- 24:23Speaker 17: San Francisco News. In fact, I really wasn't aware of
- 24:26Speaker 17: it at the time we met. I found out, you know, afterwards.
- 24:30Speaker 17: But really this is about what's best for Bruce Bochi,
- 24:35Speaker 17: what's best for the Texas Rangers, and and aligning our
- 24:39Speaker 17: interests and and you know, I think that's that's really
- 24:43Speaker 17: what it came down to. And you know, should Boach
- 24:45Speaker 17: want to continue to manage, we one hundred percent support
- 24:49Speaker 17: him and I would be thrilled to help him in
- 24:51Speaker 17: any way. And you know, likewise, should he want to
- 24:55Speaker 17: continue in our front office that he has a standing invitation,
- 25:00Speaker 17: it would be a tremendous honor for me and the
- 25:02Speaker 17: rest of the front office to work alongside Boats and
- 25:06Speaker 17: a senior advisor capacity as well. So you know, ultimately
- 25:09Speaker 17: I care about Boats I mentally and want the best
- 25:12Speaker 17: for him, whatever that is.
- 25:14Speaker 19: And the last thing for me you you mentioned earlier,
- 25:16Speaker 19: I think to Kennedy that you know, player development would
- 25:19Speaker 19: be an aspect of the next manager situation. Uh, are
- 25:24Speaker 19: there any other characteristics that you're that you feel like
- 25:28Speaker 19: you need to.
- 25:30Speaker 11: You need to address.
- 25:36Speaker 17: You need to improve our offense, so you know, yeah,
- 25:41Speaker 17: there's a lot when you don't reach your goals, Evan,
- 25:43Speaker 17: There's a lot that you gotta you have to improve,
- 25:45Speaker 17: and so we're gonna be focused on that. We're meeting
- 25:48Speaker 17: tomorrow as a group to do our yearly review. We'll
- 25:50Speaker 17: meet for several hours tomorrow going over the season and
- 25:54Speaker 17: a full in depth review. We'll have pro personnel meetings.
- 25:59Speaker 17: You know, there are a lot of great things that
- 26:00Speaker 17: are happening here and you know, really I'd like to
- 26:03Speaker 17: say we kind of slumped to eighty one wins, you know,
- 26:07Speaker 17: with a lot of injuries here at the end, but
- 26:10Speaker 17: I'd say we never played our best baseball and so
- 26:13Speaker 17: there is a lot to improve, Evan, and the next manager,
- 26:17Speaker 17: you know, will be challenged with helping us improve in
- 26:19Speaker 17: a lot of areas and doing it potentially with a
- 26:24Speaker 17: younger core group of players.
- 26:27Speaker 11: Thank you very much, Chris, Thank you, Jared. See what we.
- 26:35Speaker 23: Always talk about all the things that led to twenty
- 26:38Speaker 23: twenty three and how the team got through the ups
- 26:41Speaker 23: and downs, and Boaches is giving a lot of credit
- 26:44Speaker 23: for how he weathered that storm.
- 26:45Speaker 11: I'm just curious from your perspective, what did he do?
- 26:49Speaker 23: How would you characterize the impact he had on that
- 26:52Speaker 23: twenty twenty three team.
- 26:55Speaker 17: Well, I don't think I've ever met a calmer, steadier person,
- 27:00Speaker 17: especially during rough times, than Bruce Boci And I think
- 27:05Speaker 17: that really is what stands out in terms of the
- 27:07Speaker 17: attributes that he exhibited during that challenging you know, August
- 27:13Speaker 17: and September when we weren't playing very good baseball, but
- 27:17Speaker 17: Boach was calm, steady, He was the same every day,
- 27:20Speaker 17: and uh, he came to work with enthusiasm and a
- 27:23Speaker 17: competitive spirit and eventually we got through it, and uh,
- 27:27Speaker 17: and then we got in the playoffs and the you know,
- 27:29Speaker 17: Boach was at his best really the way he managed
- 27:32Speaker 17: a pitching staff and then specifically a bullpen that you know,
- 27:36Speaker 17: really didn't have a ton of great options. It wasn't
- 27:40Speaker 17: a deep bullpen, but it was a quality bullpen. With
- 27:42Speaker 17: the arms we had and boot broke, Boach managed it perfectly.
- 27:46Speaker 11: He really was brilliant and it.
- 27:49Speaker 17: Was just magical to watch and to enjoy, enjoy and
- 27:53Speaker 17: celebrate alongside him.
- 27:57Speaker 11: Awesome, Thank you.
- 27:59Speaker 22: Back to Jeff, uh So, what did you think of
- 28:03Speaker 22: how we did this year under trying circumstances.
- 28:09Speaker 17: Well, Jeff, the reality is when we don't reach our
- 28:12Speaker 17: goals as the team, we all collectively fall short. And
- 28:16Speaker 17: and so that's me, that's Boach, that's the coaching staff,
- 28:20Speaker 17: and that's the players. We all have accountability. So it's
- 28:22Speaker 17: no one person that's responsible for an underperforming season, just
- 28:26Speaker 17: like it's no there's no one person's responsible for the
- 28:30Speaker 17: collective success. It's a group effort and we all have
- 28:34Speaker 17: to do better. So, you know, I think that's that's
- 28:37Speaker 17: just the reality of when you don't achieve your goals,
- 28:39Speaker 17: it's everybody.
- 28:40Speaker 11: And you know, Boach was was great.
- 28:42Speaker 17: His competitive spirit was there every day, his passion, his care,
- 28:48Speaker 17: his sense of humor, his humility. We just all collectively
- 28:52Speaker 17: fell short.
- 28:53Speaker 24: You know, every time we do one of these C
- 28:55Speaker 24: ANDJ Barbecue commercials, they tell us to come up with
- 28:57Speaker 24: something clever, but honestly, I never know what to say.
- 29:00Speaker 15: How about we're CNJ Barbecue. We make barbecue. It's good.
- 29:04Speaker 15: People like it. That's why we've been here smoking meats
- 29:07Speaker 15: and filling bellies since the eighties.
- 29:09Speaker 14: Well, I guess that sums it up.
- 29:11Speaker 15: So if you're hungry, come see us. If you need
- 29:13Speaker 15: more convincing, well maybe you just don't like happiness.
- 29:16Speaker 24: Either way, we'll be here smoking meat like we always do,
- 29:19Speaker 24: serving up happiness on a tray.
- 29:21Speaker 15: CNJ Barbecue, Let's Eat.

- 29:53Speaker 1: All right.
- 29:54Speaker 2: That was Chris Young, the GM of the Texas Rangers,
- 29:59Speaker 2: kind of bristling at the phrase rebuild, but I don't
- 30:05Speaker 2: know what you call it when you're when you're getting younger,
- 30:10Speaker 2: which they've already said they're getting younger, and the payroll
- 30:16Speaker 2: is going down, which means they're going to get rid
- 30:19Speaker 2: of some players. We already know that know a few
- 30:23Speaker 2: of the players that are going to get gotten you know,
- 30:29Speaker 2: he still says, we have a nucleus of good players.
- 30:32Speaker 2: They have some good young players. They have a few.
- 30:35Speaker 2: But unless they all catch lightning in a bottle like
- 30:40Speaker 2: they did in twenty three in that career years, you know,
- 30:44Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 30:45Speaker 1: We'll see see what happens with this team.
- 30:50Speaker 2: We have a long, sordid history of losing up in Arlington,
- 30:56Speaker 2: a long history of losing.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Frankly, right now.

- 33:14Speaker 28: Welcome to the High School Report.
- 33:15Speaker 29: I'm Nett Williams and today were going out to the
- 33:16Speaker 29: Hilaris Fund Centerfoland to visit with the head football coach
- 33:19Speaker 29: for the Allen Eagles, Lee Wigginton.
- 33:21Speaker 28: How are you doing?
- 33:22Speaker 30: Doing great? How are you doing?
- 33:23Speaker 28: I'm doing very good. Thank you for asking.
- 33:25Speaker 29: Coach twenty twenty four was your best season at Allen
- 33:28Speaker 29: High School? What challenges have you and your team faced
- 33:30Speaker 29: in the past three years to restore the Allen High
- 33:32Speaker 29: School football program to being a real championship threat in
- 33:35Speaker 29: the six A Division.
- 33:37Speaker 30: Yeah, I don't know. So there's challenges, you know, here
- 33:41Speaker 30: any different than anywhere else.
- 33:43Speaker 31: You know.
- 33:43Speaker 30: You you come into a place where there's some tremendous
- 33:47Speaker 30: tradition and history, and you know, you just we've just
- 33:51Speaker 30: taken from minute pride and reaching out to the alumni,
- 33:54Speaker 30: figuring out the things that have gone on in the
- 33:58Speaker 30: past and the great of how all those things took place,
- 34:03Speaker 30: and just doing our best to replicate it.
- 34:07Speaker 29: Alan had a historic year on the defensive side of
- 34:09Speaker 29: the ball last year, only giving up thirteen points a game.
- 34:12Speaker 28: How did you build on that for this season?
- 34:15Speaker 30: Well, you know, we we schematically, we do a great job.
- 34:20Speaker 30: Our staff, coach Argus, our defense coordinator and defensive staff
- 34:23Speaker 30: do a tremendous job preparing each week. And then we
- 34:25Speaker 30: just got some really good kids, a lot of who
- 34:30Speaker 30: we're young and coming back this season.
- 34:32Speaker 16: You know.
- 34:32Speaker 30: So it's just a you know, it's it's a work
- 34:36Speaker 30: in progress that takes place from the first day of
- 34:39Speaker 30: off season and building you know, a mindset of culture
- 34:42Speaker 30: and all those things, and then build schematically building the
- 34:47Speaker 30: package around what they do. And we do a great
- 34:50Speaker 30: job of utilizing their strengths and hiding weaknesses that exist.
- 34:57Speaker 8: Mm hmm.
- 34:58Speaker 29: And as great a season as you had last year
- 35:00Speaker 29: ended at the hands of a very talented North Crowley squad.
- 35:03Speaker 29: What positives do you think your team took away from
- 35:05Speaker 29: that to have such a striking season that you've had
- 35:08Speaker 29: so far.
- 35:09Speaker 30: Well, you know, taking away from that was just realizing
- 35:13Speaker 30: that we weren't where we need to be.
- 35:16Speaker 8: You know.
- 35:16Speaker 30: We we ran into a team in North Crawley that
- 35:19Speaker 30: I think was an incredible football team, just so talented,
- 35:23Speaker 30: so well coached, executed such a high level. We had
- 35:27Speaker 30: scrimmaged them earlier in the year and played them again
- 35:30Speaker 30: later in the year and and just realized that there's
- 35:32Speaker 30: a gap. And and we've been, you know, not just
- 35:36Speaker 30: going in this season, but over the last couple you know,
- 35:39Speaker 30: doing everything we can to close that gap. And you know,
- 35:42Speaker 30: we feel like we're we're making some strides. But you
- 35:45Speaker 30: just don't know how close you get to someone like
- 35:48Speaker 30: that until you see them again. You know, they're they're
- 35:52Speaker 30: just one of many, though, but they're they're just such
- 35:54Speaker 30: a really, really good football team. And again, it's a
- 36:01Speaker 30: they pose problems that are different than other teams, but
- 36:04Speaker 30: it's just you know, you just constantly trying to prepare
- 36:08Speaker 30: yourself to get ready to, you know, against them. Are
- 36:10Speaker 30: you a team that can stop a really really really
- 36:13Speaker 30: balanced offense or are you a team that can if
- 36:16Speaker 30: the team is able to throw fifty times a game
- 36:17Speaker 30: at a high level, are you able to defend that
- 36:19Speaker 30: and get pressure on the quarterback. If they're a team
- 36:21Speaker 30: that's going to commit to running the ball and do
- 36:24Speaker 30: a tremendous job in the run game, are you are
- 36:26Speaker 30: you designed to stop the run? And then you know
- 36:28Speaker 30: saying can be said on the other side of the ball. So,
- 36:31Speaker 30: you know, much of our preparation certainly thinks about teams
- 36:35Speaker 30: that you could face and where your path could go,
- 36:38Speaker 30: but so much more of it is it's just on
- 36:40Speaker 30: us and just trying to continue to build a product
- 36:43Speaker 30: that we think can travel, that can play well in
- 36:46Speaker 30: the road, play well in the playoffs, play well and
- 36:49Speaker 30: bad weather, play well in a dull on whatever, you know.
- 36:53Speaker 30: So it's taken from that game is simply that we
- 36:57Speaker 30: had a long way to go and we're trying to
- 36:59Speaker 30: close that.
- 37:00Speaker 29: Yeah, and your program's run so far has been nothing
- 37:03Speaker 29: short of domination. What challenges or setbacks rather do you
- 37:07Speaker 29: think has lent to your success most this season? And
- 37:10Speaker 29: where do you think your team can work on despite
- 37:12Speaker 29: their success?
- 37:16Speaker 30: I mean in terms of just what we need to
- 37:18Speaker 30: uh to do, continue to improve upon or or work on,
- 37:22Speaker 30: you know, just I'll start with the offensive side of
- 37:24Speaker 30: the ball. You know, we uh, we've got a lot
- 37:27Speaker 30: of young players you know, in the trenches right now
- 37:32Speaker 30: and just continuing to find who we are in in uh,
- 37:36Speaker 30: in offensive the ball. You know, how are we going
- 37:38Speaker 30: to be able Like we like to discussed earlier, how
- 37:40Speaker 30: are we going to be able to move the ball consistently?
- 37:44Speaker 30: You know if you get into a district ball game
- 37:47Speaker 30: and hopefully a playoff ball game to where whether it's
- 37:50Speaker 30: going to prevent any balls being thrown in the air.
- 37:53Speaker 30: So so how are you going to win a game
- 37:56Speaker 30: like that? You know? So, so that's something that we've
- 37:59Speaker 30: got to continue to build upon and improve upon as
- 38:02Speaker 30: a team. Defensively, is just continue to develop depth. That
- 38:08Speaker 30: would be the number one thing, just you know, knowing
- 38:11Speaker 30: that you know, when you get fatigued or when you
- 38:13Speaker 30: you know, you get an ankle injury or whatever here
- 38:15Speaker 30: or there, you know that you have quality of people
- 38:17Speaker 30: that can go in and you don't miss a beat.
- 38:19Speaker 30: And then the next thing is just finding can can
- 38:24Speaker 30: we play is good? The first play of a series?
- 38:27Speaker 30: If if we get into a twelve thirteen play drive
- 38:31Speaker 30: and that's something that you know, you you try to
- 38:34Speaker 30: prepare for in practice and you just don't get a
- 38:37Speaker 30: lot of in game time. But you know, again against
- 38:40Speaker 30: really good ball teams and then as your season goes along,
- 38:43Speaker 30: that's going to happen. So how do you both physically
- 38:47Speaker 30: and mentally, right, how do you stay dialed in for
- 38:50Speaker 30: a long drive and then special teams? It's just, uh,
- 38:54Speaker 30: it's just a matter of execution and desire for us,
- 38:58Speaker 30: you know, are we going to continue you continually step
- 39:01Speaker 30: on the field with a burning desire to play harder
- 39:04Speaker 30: and play longer than you're willing to play from whistle
- 39:07Speaker 30: to whistle, you know, taking care of the ball, kicking
- 39:11Speaker 30: the ball, catching the ball, those things. Of course, you know,
- 39:13Speaker 30: we will continue to improve on. But as as much
- 39:15Speaker 30: as anything, it's just that desire to strain longer than
- 39:19Speaker 30: you'll strain.
- 39:20Speaker 29: Well put and a little pivot here, what have you
- 39:23Speaker 29: seen from this group that makes them unique compared to
- 39:25Speaker 29: past on teams?
- 39:29Speaker 30: You know, I don't know, you know, just I wasn't
- 39:32Speaker 30: here in the in the glory years. Just just uh,
- 39:36Speaker 30: you know, what I've learned and paid attention to from
- 39:40Speaker 30: Afar was just such pride in the community. Right there,
- 39:44Speaker 30: There's a group that that loved being Alan Eagles and
- 39:48Speaker 30: loved being a part of this community. And it took
- 39:50Speaker 30: tremendous pride in representing from the town. And and and
- 39:54Speaker 30: I think the program kind of is built with that mentality.
- 39:57Speaker 30: And what's you about us probably is that you know,
- 40:04Speaker 30: we talk about that and talk about that history so
- 40:07Speaker 30: much that these guys, while they have that same pride
- 40:12Speaker 30: and they have that same love for the community, and
- 40:15Speaker 30: everything they do is about trying to make the community
- 40:18Speaker 30: proud of how they play the game, not just at
- 40:21Speaker 30: at a high level of execution, but also playing the
- 40:25Speaker 30: game the way the football was supposed to be played.
- 40:28Speaker 30: But they also do it with thoughts of the alumni
- 40:31Speaker 30: in their mind. You know, they want to make those
- 40:33Speaker 30: proud who built this program, so not unique, just maybe honoring.
- 40:38Speaker 29: Yeah, you're playing McKenny this Friday. What are you doing
- 40:41Speaker 29: to prepare for that matchup? So what are you expecting
- 40:44Speaker 29: on McKinny And how do you think your teams will clash?
- 40:47Speaker 30: Well, I mean we've played them a few times over
- 40:50Speaker 30: the less, you know, since I've been here, and there's
- 40:54Speaker 30: always so talented, very very physical, and they take pride
- 40:58Speaker 30: in being physical. You know, it's when when Alan and
- 41:03Speaker 30: McKinney plays, due to proximity, you know it's going to
- 41:08Speaker 30: have a lot of mean, all these kids know each other.
- 41:11Speaker 30: They they know each other's friends, they know what's going
- 41:14Speaker 30: on in the classrooms with each other. So there's no secrets.
- 41:17Speaker 30: It's just a matter of you know, execution. But then
- 41:23Speaker 30: really for us, it's just that mentality of understanding that
- 41:27Speaker 30: every single snap offense, defense, special teams is going to
- 41:32Speaker 30: be a dog site and how how do you prepare
- 41:35Speaker 30: yourself and how do we prepare a team to be
- 41:38Speaker 30: willing to do that for sixty seventy eighty ninety snaps
- 41:41Speaker 30: whatever that is that you're going to play and doing
- 41:44Speaker 30: it in a way that again, the way the game
- 41:48Speaker 30: is supposed to be played right, doing it in a
- 41:50Speaker 30: way that's not going to bring fifteen yarders into responding
- 41:56Speaker 30: to two actions here there, So setting the tone with
- 42:00Speaker 30: our physicality, but not getting carried away to where it
- 42:03Speaker 30: becomes a detriment to the flow of the game.
- 42:07Speaker 8: MHM.
- 42:09Speaker 29: Last question for you here, what does long term success
- 42:11Speaker 29: look like for this program, both on and off the
- 42:13Speaker 29: field and accordance to your with your philosophy as a
- 42:16Speaker 29: coach and perhaps even just a role model in general.
- 42:20Speaker 30: Yeah, I mean long term you know, on the field,
- 42:23Speaker 30: you know, and Allen would be to get back to
- 42:25Speaker 30: where they've been right, to get back to uh the
- 42:30Speaker 30: level of state championship contention and the only way you're
- 42:35Speaker 30: you're able to do that is by literally improving every
- 42:37Speaker 30: single day, but so much more than that is the
- 42:41Speaker 30: other piece of the question is where we are off
- 42:44Speaker 30: the field or where we are when these these uh,
- 42:47Speaker 30: these men come to us and then leave us, would
- 42:50Speaker 30: be that they become better men. You know that they
- 42:54Speaker 30: graduate this program and they know that simply being a
- 42:57Speaker 30: part of the Allen Eagle football program that they're better
- 43:00Speaker 30: spared for life. They're better prepared to be dads, the
- 43:02Speaker 30: better prepared to be husbands, the better prepared to be
- 43:04Speaker 30: the leaders of alan or of their communities that they
- 43:07Speaker 30: go to or the state of the country. And just
- 43:11Speaker 30: trying to continue to find different ways to do that.
- 43:15Speaker 30: You know, we're going to We're going to do a
- 43:17Speaker 30: lot of things relationally that helped build that and set
- 43:21Speaker 30: that foundation, whether it be doing certain functions with them
- 43:26Speaker 30: and a woman of influence in their life, or an
- 43:30Speaker 30: event with a man of influence in their life, or
- 43:32Speaker 30: we've reached out and we have a group called the
- 43:34Speaker 30: Men of Connection, where we've reached out two successful businessmen
- 43:39Speaker 30: and have them plugged into our program to where they
- 43:42Speaker 30: are around our athletes on a regular basis of just
- 43:45Speaker 30: trying to expose them to stuff other than what they see.
- 43:49Speaker 8: Right.
- 43:49Speaker 30: You know, you grew up in a home and there's
- 43:52Speaker 30: certain men that you knew family members, you know, maybe
- 43:55Speaker 30: your teachers, your coaches, your pastors. What we want all
- 44:00Speaker 30: add to that, and we want to find different men
- 44:03Speaker 30: that possibly or in careers or have gone down paths
- 44:07Speaker 30: that are interesting to them to just give them more
- 44:09Speaker 30: tools to where they can be successful. So we want
- 44:12Speaker 30: to enhance the relationships of those significant women in their life,
- 44:16Speaker 30: enhance relationships of the significant men in the life, build
- 44:19Speaker 30: on those many connection to give them other options, and
- 44:21Speaker 30: then just constantly put them out there in ways of
- 44:25Speaker 30: showing appreciation. You know what we do. And he's like
- 44:28Speaker 30: a teacher. They're in our open week. Next week we
- 44:30Speaker 30: do a teacher appreciation breakfast where you know, our guys
- 44:34Speaker 30: will get up here at six am start cooking for
- 44:36Speaker 30: every staff member at Allen High School and just different
- 44:41Speaker 30: things like that just to show that, you know, it's fun.
- 44:46Speaker 30: You know, our guys it's about getting to teach and
- 44:49Speaker 30: show appreciation and talk about what that means. But it
- 44:52Speaker 30: also they learn that they get to feel the enjoyment
- 44:56Speaker 30: of doing something like that when you put a smile
- 44:59Speaker 30: on someone else's and you realize how awesome that is,
- 45:02Speaker 30: and you want to remlicate that over and over, And
- 45:05Speaker 30: what we believe is that's just gonna make this world
- 45:07Speaker 30: a better place and certainly make their life that much better.
- 45:10Speaker 28: Very well put, thank you so much for your time, coach.
- 45:12Speaker 28: We're excited to see you on this.

- 52:00Speaker 11: From Yeah, why are you still here?
- 52:04Speaker 36: So many guys you came in at your recruit laugh
- 52:07Speaker 36: everybody laugh.

- 52:11Speaker 36: around Philadelphia, both in Europe, you know, yeah, probably contacts.
- 52:16Speaker 11: Yeah right, why are you still here?
- 52:18Speaker 24: Uh?
- 52:19Speaker 8: It really all started with Elcho.
- 52:21Speaker 37: For for like, we all like he was serious in
- 52:23Speaker 37: my freshman year when I went All America and me
- 52:24Speaker 37: and him just had a great relationship. So I just
- 52:27Speaker 37: kind of like just kept trusting Elcho during my process.
- 52:29Speaker 37: You know, I went hurt, got injured, was supposed to
- 52:31Speaker 37: leave last year, but uh, I just came back and
- 52:34Speaker 37: I just trusted the process that Elco had.
- 52:36Speaker 36: From what did Where do you think y'allre as a
- 52:40Speaker 36: secondary right now?
- 52:41Speaker 8: I mean, uh Notre.
- 52:44Speaker 36: Dame had some success, but y'all just went out and
- 52:48Speaker 36: shut down Auburn came Coleman couldn't do anything.
- 52:51Speaker 37: So yeah, where you'll feeling we all right now like
- 52:54Speaker 37: we're all in a great space right now because we
- 52:55Speaker 37: feel like we had the uh like we had to
- 52:57Speaker 37: set a state in it because we all know we
- 52:59Speaker 37: ain't have a good of no game nor the game
- 53:01Speaker 37: til we had to come back from this game and
- 53:02Speaker 37: sure everybody that we really was really good as like
- 53:05Speaker 37: everybody was the same year as.
- 53:07Speaker 38: He just shared us, what your injury was that kind
- 53:10Speaker 38: of how exactly that happened?
- 53:11Speaker 2: Uh?
- 53:11Speaker 37: Yeah, Uh it was on a Wednesday practice, uh week
- 53:14Speaker 37: three last year. I tore my a CL a little
- 53:16Speaker 37: slight MCL tier two and kind of outside of my knee.
- 53:19Speaker 8: It was like a non contact injury. I landed wrong,
- 53:22Speaker 8: that's all I.
- 53:24Speaker 38: Did you figure it was gonna be that serious?
- 53:26Speaker 37: No, not at all, because actually I thought it was
- 53:29Speaker 37: a bruise name because I was walking a couple of
- 53:31Speaker 37: days after and.
- 53:32Speaker 8: I was regular and I felt out. I told my
- 53:34Speaker 8: a cl Yeah, just.
- 53:36Speaker 38: How did the recovery process playoffs and getting getting back
- 53:40Speaker 38: to one hundred percent?
- 53:41Speaker 37: I mean it was hard, like a lot of people
- 53:42Speaker 37: don't talk about like coming back from a uh like
- 53:44Speaker 37: a a knee injury. But like I had the uh,
- 53:47Speaker 37: I had the guys around me. U. I had made
- 53:50Speaker 37: sure I stayed here so I keep my mind right. Uh,
- 53:53Speaker 37: Like the gods helped me a lot coaches did too.
- 53:56Speaker 37: But yeah, like the process was kind of long, Like, uh,
- 53:58Speaker 37: shout out to Joe, He's a great trainer.
- 54:00Speaker 8: He got me right, and yeah, that's it.
- 54:03Speaker 39: Was there a moment that stood up to you for
- 54:04Speaker 39: like when you felt like yourself again?
- 54:06Speaker 8: Oh?
- 54:07Speaker 37: Yes, yes, And uh, I'm kind of just now feeling
- 54:10Speaker 37: that now. Actually, like these last I probably say, like
- 54:13Speaker 37: these last couple of weeks, I'm starting to feel like
- 54:15Speaker 37: myself again.
- 54:15Speaker 39: So you out there live bullets and like everything just feels.
- 54:18Speaker 8: Like it should. Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 54:20Speaker 7: Throughout the off season, Coachoco talked a lot about how
- 54:23Speaker 7: getting me back was a huge part of the defense.
- 54:26Speaker 19: What did that mean?
- 54:26Speaker 2: To you and and what kind of.
- 54:29Speaker 8: Photo confidence was that? Oh? You know that means a
- 54:31Speaker 8: lot to me.
- 54:33Speaker 37: Just shown that he trusts me a lot, and like
- 54:35Speaker 37: the guys around me, like we all know, like uh
- 54:37Speaker 37: so like like some guys looked up to me in
- 54:39Speaker 37: a certain way and I'm glad that so I could
- 54:41Speaker 37: teach him the right the wrongs and and pretty much
- 54:44Speaker 37: just goes around and show like how much he trust
- 54:46Speaker 37: them and the team trusted me.
- 54:47Speaker 36: Did you learned anything on the eleven games didn't play
- 54:49Speaker 36: last year about yourself or about football?
- 54:52Speaker 1: Did anything help you as you watched the game last year?
- 54:55Speaker 13: Uh?
- 54:55Speaker 37: Yes, Yes, it was really like the love of the
- 54:58Speaker 37: game for me, because I ain't know how how much
- 55:00Speaker 37: I loved the game until I got hurt and just
- 55:02Speaker 37: watching people practicing and play and me not being there.
- 55:05Speaker 37: So yeah, it was pretty much the love of the
- 55:06Speaker 37: game that I really feeled out about.
- 55:08Speaker 38: What is it about the nickel position in this defense
- 55:11Speaker 38: in particular that's such a key spot?
- 55:13Speaker 8: Yeah, uh cause it's really hard to play.
- 55:16Speaker 37: Uh, Like you gotta play man tzone sometimes come in
- 55:19Speaker 37: to fit.
- 55:19Speaker 8: Pretty God, you pretty much got new the whole defense. Yeah.
- 55:22Speaker 33: What what was the conversation like because you were outside
- 55:26Speaker 33: and then you you move inside, So how open were
- 55:29Speaker 33: you to that?
- 55:29Speaker 8: And oh yeah, no, I loved it.
- 55:31Speaker 37: I actually loved it cause that shows that I'm more
- 55:33Speaker 37: versatile and I could do more.
- 55:35Speaker 8: So that pretty much was it?
- 55:36Speaker 37: Like I loved it when like I was like as
- 55:38Speaker 37: soon as they asked me, I was like, yeah, I
- 55:40Speaker 37: was happy.
- 55:41Speaker 11: And what helped you kind of get through that jury?
- 55:43Speaker 8: Or was there anyone you kind of leaned on? Yeah?
- 55:45Speaker 37: Uh, it was really my my family and my daughter
- 55:48Speaker 37: cause uh during that time, I said, my.
- 55:50Speaker 8: Daughter's like was probably say like.
- 55:55Speaker 37: Probably like two month years old, so it was like
- 55:57Speaker 37: new and like she just every time I saw her,
- 55:59Speaker 37: I'm yeah, I gotta do this far.
- 56:01Speaker 11: I don't want to come here the first time.
- 56:02Speaker 7: In defensive Portnator, he could get a little little crazy
- 56:05Speaker 7: on third downs.
- 56:06Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 56:06Speaker 7: Do you feel like the season is trending a little
- 56:08Speaker 7: bit more towards.
- 56:09Speaker 8: That, Yes, yes, exactly, because we got a lot of
- 56:13Speaker 8: d line.
- 56:13Speaker 37: That need to eat basically, and and they all good.
- 56:17Speaker 37: So he throwing some different type of packages informations, why is.
- 56:20Speaker 1: This team make some many penalties?
- 56:22Speaker 8: And how do you guys stop that? Uh?
- 56:23Speaker 37: We just gotta be more discipline. Like the thing uh
- 56:26Speaker 37: the echo focus on just us being more disciplined. It
- 56:29Speaker 37: it's really just nine uh uh focused penalties, That's all
- 56:32Speaker 37: it is.
- 56:33Speaker 2: How much did y'all's performance on Saturday just give you
- 56:36Speaker 2: that much more confidence than.
- 56:37Speaker 24: What y'all are able to do?
- 56:38Speaker 8: Uh?
- 56:39Speaker 37: They give us a say, a lot of confidence because
- 56:41Speaker 37: it was the first s C one and I don't
- 56:43Speaker 37: know how long and uh the only thing we do
- 56:46Speaker 37: is just it just take it down a game by
- 56:48Speaker 37: game basically.
- 56:49Speaker 8: That's so weird.
- 56:49Speaker 39: Did that we feel different for you guys on defense?
- 56:51Speaker 39: I mean it was your best performance of the season.
- 56:53Speaker 39: Did something click in practice?
- 56:55Speaker 8: Yes?
- 56:55Speaker 37: It all started Monday because he always talked about how
- 56:58Speaker 37: we got finished and just execute the game plan.
- 57:00Speaker 8: That's what all we did.
- 57:01Speaker 1: So what's different about this team?
- 57:03Speaker 8: Let's say last year at.
- 57:04Speaker 37: This time, Uh, we all more uh about like like
- 57:08Speaker 37: it it's boreding, I think because we all like last
- 57:10Speaker 37: year even though I wasn't uh here and playing I
- 57:13Speaker 37: uh I kind of like felt like we all wasn't
- 57:15Speaker 37: like more together. It seem like this year like we
- 57:17Speaker 37: all more together and we all playing together?
- 57:20Speaker 11: Is it you started to study them. Just what have
- 57:21Speaker 11: you seen the Mississippi State in that offense?
- 57:24Speaker 20: Uh?
- 57:24Speaker 37: Like they run a spread offense and that's why I realized.
- 57:26Speaker 37: And they really just throw the ball a lot and
- 57:28Speaker 37: they run it. So it's pretty much gonna be like
- 57:30Speaker 37: a violence skin.
- 57:32Speaker 39: Any conversations with Mario about some other.
- 57:34Speaker 8: Yeah, yep, all the time. Man.
- 57:35Speaker 37: I The first thing I told him, I'm like, man, like,
- 57:37Speaker 37: just tell me all your old players, say no.
- 57:41Speaker 33: Yeah, what does just uh what do you think's led
- 57:44Speaker 33: to this uh incredible starts for fall?
- 57:47Speaker 36: Uh?
- 57:47Speaker 37: He had put the work in this offseason. Like that
- 57:49Speaker 37: is one thing I uh do wanna say, cause that
- 57:51Speaker 37: he put the working for him to be.
- 57:52Speaker 8: Good this year. Cause we I like last.
- 57:54Speaker 37: Year I kept telling him like, I said, you good.
- 57:56Speaker 8: But you like you got another level and he's taking
- 57:59Speaker 8: it to that level.
- 57:59Speaker 36: So what Mario tell you to look out for?
- 58:01Speaker 8: Uh it it was just like the uh type of
- 58:03Speaker 8: rocks they run. That's it. It was like no planes.
- 58:06Speaker 8: You was telling them how like they run ay rocks
- 58:08Speaker 8: and everything.
- 58:09Speaker 38: So obviously last Saturday was just a really great performance
- 58:13Speaker 38: from your defense. What were some of the big picture
- 58:15Speaker 38: things that y'all looked back at that film. They all
- 58:17Speaker 38: can take from that to try and emulate some of
- 58:19Speaker 38: those things as the season gets on.
- 58:21Speaker 37: To be honest, like, we ain't really do a lot
- 58:22Speaker 37: of things spectacular, like how we is. The only thing
- 58:25Speaker 37: we did was just play hard and execute the game plan. Yeah,
- 58:28Speaker 37: and the only thing we gotta do is just keep
- 58:29Speaker 37: doing that up to the week by week.
- 58:31Speaker 36: A couple more whatever brous is he the most about
- 58:34Speaker 36: your offense?
- 58:36Speaker 8: Uh? How like?
- 58:36Speaker 37: Uh, the receivers, the line, pretty much everybody, because we
- 58:39Speaker 37: are way more explosive than we are there this years.
- 58:41Speaker 8: So that's why I can say what to like facing
- 58:43Speaker 8: the receivers and parties.
- 58:45Speaker 37: Uh, I ain't gonna lie, it's really good because like
- 58:49Speaker 37: they really like the damn there like the best receiver
- 58:50Speaker 37: cording SEC. So it's going up uh going against them
- 58:53Speaker 37: every day, it really helps the Uh secondary.
- 58:56Speaker 39: You've been here a while obviously, pett start since twenty sixteen.
- 58:59Speaker 39: Does this team this year feel different than in years
- 59:01Speaker 39: past for you?
- 59:02Speaker 8: Yes?
- 59:03Speaker 37: Yes, I actually liked him uh the first year as well,
- 59:05Speaker 37: because that that team and this team is like remind
- 59:09Speaker 37: me of the same cub we all together.
- 59:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's Tarique Chappelle. Uh, stay tuned. We uh, We're
- 59:16Speaker 2: right back with John Bacon and his extraordinary book, The
- 59:20Speaker 2: Gales of November.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Here on the Zel
