- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. Jeffrey Epstein wasn't a scandal. Bro was an
- 0:09operating system, a global one. His crimes didn't just cross borders,
- 0:14they required them. They required passports, diplomatic silence, intelligence indifference,
- 0:20financial laundering, and political cowardice on multiple continents. We're not
- 0:25talking about a predator hiding in the shadows. This was
- 0:29a predator moving openly through capitals, embassies, royal circles, hedge funds,
- 0:34and ministries, protected not by secrecy but by usefulness. Epstein
- 0:41functioned because powerful institutions decided that the damage he did
- 0:46to children was an acceptable cost of doing business. And
- 0:50that's why the contrast unfolding right now between the United
- 0:54Kingdom and the United States matters so damn much. In
- 0:58the UK, the question is no longer did Epstein do
- 1:01it that ship sailed years ago. The question is who
- 1:04was adjacent, who knew, and who felt to act, And
- 1:08that line of inquiry is dragging names like Peter Mandelsson
- 1:12back into the open, whether they like it or not.
- 1:15This isn't about salacious guilt by association gossip. This is
- 1:19about whether a proximity to Epstein is treated as politically
- 1:23radioactive or politically ignored, and the fact that the pressure
- 1:27is now creeping towards Kara Starmer tells you something important.
- 1:31In Britain, Epstein's being treated as a legitimacy test for power,
- 1:35not a tabloid embarrassment to be memory hold. Now look
- 1:39across the Atlantic, where the response from the American right,
- 1:42led by Donald Trump and his band of Oligarch's donors
- 1:46and ideological arsonists, has been to the Claire Epstein a hoax,
- 1:51a distraction, a conspiracy cooked up by enemies. No, we
- 1:55need answers, not the system failed, a hoax that alone
- 2:01should end any serious conversation about credibility. It's the last
- 2:06refuge of people who know the paper trail exists and
- 2:09are terrified of where it leads. In America, Unfortunately, the
- 2:14Nile has replaced governance, and here is the real divergence.
- 2:19In the UK, Epstein's being treated as a system's failure.
- 2:23In the US, He's treated as the public relations inconvenience.
- 2:28British politicians are being forced to explain judgment, access and
- 2:33institutional response. American politicians are a scream in fague news
- 2:38while actively obstructing scrutiny of the very agencies that let
- 2:42Epstein operate for decades. The British approach says power must
- 2:47explain itself. The American approach says power must be protected
- 2:52at all costs, and that brings us to the most
- 2:55damning comparison of all. In the UK, accountability is being
- 2:59demanded upward. In the United States, the blame is being
- 3:04pushed downward onto victims, journalists, the media, or the public's
- 3:08opposed inability to move on. No serious reckoning has been
- 3:12forced on the Department of Justice, no genuine accounting for
- 3:16the non prosecution agreement, the custody failures, the sealed files,
- 3:20or the federal actors who grease the wheels. Instead, we're
- 3:25told to forget, forgive, and shut up. Epstein was the
- 3:29biggest global power because power is global, and the UK,
- 3:34for all of its flaws, is at least acknowledging that truth.
- 3:37America isn't. Until US politicians stop calling documented crimes a
- 3:42hoax and start demanding the same standards of decency, transparency,
- 3:47and accountability now being applied overseas, this country will remain
- 3:52what Epstein proved it to be a safe harbor for
- 3:55the well connected and a dead end for justice. Today's
- 4:00article is from the Delhi Mel and the headline secret
- 4:03Text with PM's chief aid, what PM knew about Epstein
- 4:07Lynx and huge golden Goodbye. The grim trove of Mandelssohn
- 4:11papers due for publication that could end Starmer. This article
- 4:16was authored by Rory Tingle. New files relating to Kira
- 4:21Starmer's appointment of Peter Mandelssohn as US ambassador will add
- 4:25more fuel to a scandal that could propel him out
- 4:28of office. The Prime Minister has been forced to order
- 4:32the publication of a trove of papers after Kemy Badknock
- 4:36forced the Commons vote on the issue, and good for her. Look,
- 4:42I'm not going to sit here and tell you I
- 4:43know a whole bunch about you know, UK politics, I
- 4:46do not. But anytime anyone's forcing the issue when it
- 4:50comes to Jeffrey Epstein in accountability, I'm on board. I
- 4:54don't need to know what political party you're from. All
- 4:56I need to know is that you're looking for justice
- 4:59and accountability, and any sort of political disagreements we might have,
- 5:03we could save those for another day. Dubbed the Mandelsson files.
- 5:08They will include hundreds of documents surrounding his appointment, including
- 5:11private texts exchanged with Sarah Kerr and his chief of staff,
- 5:16Morgan McSweeney, who bulldozed through the appointment. So this Sweeney
- 5:21character was the one that really pushed for Mandelssohn to
- 5:25get this position, I guess. And now he's gonna have
- 5:29to answer for what happened. I mean, imagine that some
- 5:33actual accountability. We don't know what that means here in
- 5:35America when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein. Lord Mandelsson was
- 5:39sacked from his US posting last September after emails emerged
- 5:43showing him carrying on his friendship with billionaire pedophile Jeffrey
- 5:47Epstein after his conviction for child sex offenses in a
- 5:52pincher movement with mutinous labor MPs. Yesterday, Ms Badnock used
- 5:57a Commons motion to require the release of all documents
- 6:00surrounding the faithful decision to make him US ambassador in
- 6:04December of twenty twenty four. And what's wild is that
- 6:08he even got that job in the first place. We're
- 6:11not talking about an unknown in British politics. We're talking
- 6:15about a dude that has had plenty of problems along
- 6:18the way, but sure, let's recycle him, put him in
- 6:22a position as ambassador, embarrass the country, embarrass the party,
- 6:27and cause a huge scandal, because you know that's what
- 6:30every political party needs, right and for what to give
- 6:35Mandelson a posting? Why? Because he's your friend, because he's
- 6:39been in politics for years now. Some people might look
- 6:43at that as some kind of resume builder, but not me.
- 6:47If you've been in politics for three or four decades,
- 6:51chances are you can't do anything else, so instead you'll
- 6:55stay in government and enrich yourself on public funds. That's
- 7:00the vast majority of these people. I mean here in America,
- 7:03we all know that they come into Congress or Senate
- 7:06and they're worth a few bucks, and by the time
- 7:08they leave, they're millionaires. How do you think that happens
- 7:12just overnight? And if it was so easy, how come
- 7:15the rest of us aren't doing it? Sir e kir
- 7:19attempted to neuter the release by suggesting Cabinet Secretary Sir
- 7:22Chris Warmold would be asked to vet all documents to
- 7:26ensure they did not undermine national security or international relations.
- 7:31Oh more, national security with Jeffrey Epstein, Huh, just a
- 7:34loan predator, just a guy that had some proclivities, folks. Meanwhile,
- 7:39these emails are just filled with correspondence from all kinds
- 7:44of intelligence sources around the world, And it plays directly
- 7:49into what I've been saying from the jump. The dude
- 7:51is a free agent. He doesn't work for one government
- 7:54or the other, doesn't have loyalty to anyone but himself.
- 7:58And I think that these emails and the fact that
- 8:01he was in connection with these intelligence services all over
- 8:04the world really slam that home. But that only saw
- 8:10Miss bad Knock accuse him of trying to cover up
- 8:12evidence of a catastrophic lack of judgment while also managing
- 8:16to rile labor MPs led by his leadership rival Angela Rayner.
- 8:23And so I can't really give you too much on
- 8:25who these people are because I don't know them intimately
- 8:28enough to know what their policies are or what they're
- 8:31doing as far as governing. So when we talk about
- 8:36these people over in the government in the UK, we're
- 8:39going to be talking about them specifically in regards to Epstein.
- 8:43And I know this is going to come off as crazy,
- 8:47but I only talk about things I know about I
- 8:50know that's not the way to get ahead these days,
- 8:52but here we are following the PM's climb down. The
- 8:55motion to release the Mandelson files was passed by MPs
- 8:59without a vote. The files will now be picked through
- 9:02by parliaments Intelligence and Security Committee, who have top level clearance,
- 9:07so basically the same process that we see here with
- 9:09the DOJ. They're going to go through this. They're going
- 9:12to redact what they think they need to redact, and
- 9:14then they'll release what they think is safe for public consumption.
- 9:18Will it be good enough, We'll have to see. The
- 9:22files will include details of what Lord Mandelsson told the
- 9:26Prime Minister and mister McSweeney about the nature of his
- 9:29relationship with Epstein. This could prove deeply damaging to Sirkir,
- 9:34who admitted for the first time yesterday that he appointed
- 9:37the new Labor Grandee despite knowing he had remain friends
- 9:41with Epstein after his conviction. WhatsApp exchanges sent on private
- 9:47phones may be included, as could information relating to negotiations
- 9:52around the Golden Goodbye pay to Lord Mandelsson after his sacking.
- 9:56And that's just wild to think about. You get fired
- 10:01for your relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and you still get
- 10:04a golden parachute on the way out the door, provided
- 10:06to you by the English taxpayer, because you know, the
- 10:09English taxpayer has nothing else that that money could be
- 10:12spent on. Right, Everything's just fine and dandy over in
- 10:16the UK. Are these people for real? Meanwhile, get fired
- 10:21from your job and see how that shit works out
- 10:23for you. Be lucky if you get unemployment. You know
- 10:26how these companies are file for unemployment and they try
- 10:29and deny you say you you know, were fired for
- 10:32cause whatever it might be. But this dirt bag out
- 10:36here running around in his tidy Whitey's over at Jeffrey
- 10:39Epstein's house ends up getting a golden parachute. Huh, folks,
- 10:43I'm in the wrong line of work. But last night
- 10:46there were doubts about how much material would be released
- 10:49after the Metropolitan Police warned against publishing anything that could
- 10:53undermine its criminal investigation into Lord Mandelsson's activities. Now those
- 10:58are great words to hear, investigation, but let's remember we're
- 11:03talking about Metro Police who cleared Epstein in Maxwell multiple times,
- 11:08so I'm not exactly confident that they're going to do
- 11:11the right thing. But I hope so, I hope that
- 11:14the English politicians force the issue. Now, look, I'm not naive.
- 11:19I don't think the English politicians are any better than ours.
- 11:22But I do think they recognize the moment for what
- 11:24it is, and I think they're smart enough to know
- 11:28that the people demand action. Scotland yards investigating whether emails
- 11:35in which Lord Mandelson appeared to send Epstein market sensitive
- 11:39information while serving as Labor Business Secretary during the financial
- 11:43crisis could constitute misconduct in public office, a crime that
- 11:47carries a potential life sentence. Well, we know that Jeffrey
- 11:51Epstein benefited bigley from the recession. We know he was
- 11:55bailed out, and we know he made over two hundred
- 11:57and fifty million dollars on the back end. So this
- 12:00gluttonous fuck was eating from both sides of the table.
- 12:03He was eating from the disaster and then he was
- 12:06getting fat on the recovery. You know your money, that
- 12:10ball out money. Yeah that. Though the Mandelssynh scandal has
- 12:15left Sirrakir's premiership hanging in the balance, with rumors sweeping
- 12:20Westminster that some prime ministers are even considering resigning in
- 12:25a bid to accelerate his downfall. Hey, look, got to
- 12:29pay the piper, bro. You made the decision to send
- 12:32MANDELSSHN to DC, you made the decision to bring him
- 12:35back into government, So now you got to catch that
- 12:38proverbial falling knife. The Cross Party Intelligence and Security Committee
- 12:45will now decide what material is released, with the chair
- 12:48of warning embarrassment is not enough for evidence to be suppressed.
- 12:53A series of emails have already been released that cast
- 12:56light on mister Mandelsson's friendship with Epstein. Some of them
- 12:59mess show the Labor Grande celebrating the pedophiles released from
- 13:04jail as Liberation Day and calling them a naughty boy,
- 13:08not one single thought for those girls that were abused
- 13:11down in Florida, Because that's what Epstein went to jail for, right,
- 13:17That's what he was in jail for the eighteen months for.
- 13:21And Kiir Starmer's out here calling him a naughty boy
- 13:24for molested little kids. The latest Epstein files document dump
- 13:29by US authorities has piled further pressure on Lord Mandelson,
- 13:33who's facing a criminal probe and has quit the House
- 13:36of Lords. Well that's cool, I'm sure he could find
- 13:38a job within the Trump administration, maybe with Ben black
- 13:43or with Howard Lutnik. One email thread from July of
- 13:46two thousand and nine apparently shows the then government minister
- 13:50asking Epstein how they should celebrate his release from prison
- 13:54after serving thirteen months for soliciting prostitution with the minor,
- 13:58which again we know is not even a real thing.
- 14:02Miners cannot consent. Epstein responded with grace and modesty. Those
- 14:09are the names of two strippers. Lord Mandelsson said from
- 14:13now on grace and modesty should be discovered in London.
- 14:18The emails can be traced to him because his private
- 14:20email address was left unredacted in one of the messages
- 14:24and his name in another. The Dealy Mail has redacted
- 14:28most of the email address with a gray box in
- 14:30this article, while the original redactions from the US Department
- 14:34of Justice are black boxes. The former UK ambassador to
- 14:39the US told the dea email the messages were his,
- 14:43but they are his Epstein observations, not mine, and that
- 14:48he was saying Epstein should find grace and modesty, not strippers.
- 14:52Oh no, that's exactly what you were saying. Huh. So,
- 14:55not only do they have no respect for you, they
- 14:57think you're stupid too. Keep that in mind. The two
- 15:00thousand and nine emails also show Mandelssohn asking how his
- 15:03freedom feeling, to which the sex offender replied, she feels fresh, firm,
- 15:08and creamy. Naughty boy, the labor grandee wrote in response.
- 15:13In another message, Mandelsh can be seen telling Epstein upon
- 15:17his release liberation day, Well, that's pretty ironic because the
- 15:22only thing being liberated at this point is mister mandelssh
- 15:27from his career. The crude messages of prompted disgust from
- 15:32figures across the political spectrum, with SNP Westminster leader Stephen
- 15:36Flynn writing on X sick Bastards, and Tory shadow minister
- 15:41Alex Berghardt telling MP's he was shocked and disturbed. YO,
- 15:45that sounds cool as hell. A shadow minister? How do
- 15:48I apply for that gig? Will that be like Lord
- 15:51Varres in Game of Thrones? Or is it like Steve
- 15:54Bannon here in America? Downing Street sources play down the
- 16:02prospect of Mandelson files being released today, although it's still possible.
- 16:07As seen in the US, the process may take some time,
- 16:10although any excessive delay or redactions will lead the further
- 16:14political rows and claims of a cover up. YO. The
- 16:18cover up is roiling over in the UK, and I'm
- 16:22here for it tall my listeners over in the UK,
- 16:27over in Ireland, over in Scotland. We're going to be
- 16:30following along every step of the way, because all of
- 16:33it matters, all of it's connected, and it shows you
- 16:37the true reach of Jeffrey Epstein's network and just how
- 16:40powerful it was. With Sirrakiir's authority in tatters, even normally
- 16:45loyal labor figures have questioned how long he can hang
- 16:48on senior MPs or in the situation will not end
- 16:52well for Sir Ekir and the clock is ticking, while
- 16:56ex Cabinet Minister Lord Hutton suggested that his time and
- 16:59power is coming to a close. If the Mandelssyn files
- 17:03revealed the pm knew more about Lord Mandelson's links to
- 17:07Epstein than he made out, that could prove fatal to
- 17:10his leadership. Yeah, I would say so, And if it does,
- 17:14I'd say that's a great precedent and one that should
- 17:17surely be followed here in the United States. Unfortunately, considering
- 17:21the robber barons and the oligarchs we have ruling US,
- 17:25I have my doubts if that's going to occur, but
- 17:28either way, we'll be here every single day keeping the
- 17:32flags of discontent waving. And to all of you who
- 17:35have just recently found the podcast, I appreciate each and
- 17:38every one of you who stick around and continue to
- 17:41support the podcast as we push for transparency and justice
- 17:46for those who deserve it most. And speaking of justice,
- 17:50we finally have our hands on that charging document from
- 17:54Epstein's arrests the first time around down in Florida, so
- 17:57later on today we'll start taking a look at that
- 18:00as well. But as for this one, well that's going
- 18:02to do it. All of the information that goes with
- 18:05this episode can be found in the description box.
