- 0:00Happy Sunday morning, everybody. Every day I've been to getting
- 0:05up, you know, around 8:30 and today I woke up, I looked over
- 0:11and it was 10/21. I guess I was tired, man.
- 0:16These races have been running much later here this year at
- 0:21Volusia, You know, almost 60 Sprint cars.
- 0:26You know, the 360 cubic inch Sprint cars and then last night
- 0:3176 are modified, so takes a while to get them all done.
- 0:37And I guess since I knew we were not racing on this Sunday, my
- 0:42defense mechanism was down. In other words, you know, when
- 0:48you're relaxed and you just sleep in, right?
- 0:51You just sleep in and boy, that's a that's exactly what I
- 0:55did. I just slept in and boy, it felt
- 0:58really good. All right.
- 1:00Want to give a shout out to my dear friend Craig Rivard.
- 1:06Hey, Craiger. Thank you so much, buddy.
- 1:08We call him Craiger. He's Rusty's.
- 1:13I think Rusty's best friend these days.
- 1:17Craiger's legend is he is been the Miller beer distributor in
- 1:22the Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Ormond Beach, Ormond.
- 1:30Yesterday we're we're having lunch and old Craiger says damn
- 1:34it, we're from Ormond Beach. I said OK, so shout out to
- 1:40Ormond Beach and and thank you Craiger for everything you do
- 1:45for me. I appreciate you treat me like
- 1:48$1,000,000 and all you do for brother Rusty.
- 1:51So once again, Craiger, the man, the original and still the
- 1:59Miller beer distributor of the whole whole area down here, He's
- 2:03a he's a legend and we sure do appreciate him.
- 2:06We still talk about those glory days, you know, the Dale
- 2:10Earnhardt senior days and how much beer they used to go
- 2:13through and how Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach was rocking.
- 2:20Love you, love you. Craiger had had to have fun with
- 2:24the Ormond Beach. I know you all are proud of
- 2:26Ormond Beach and it is very beautiful area love Ormond
- 2:29Beach. And by the way, Speaking of
- 2:31Ormond Beach, when we come back in here of in March, in March
- 2:37for bike week, brother Rusty Steven, they will be set up at
- 2:42the broken spoke in Ormond Beach.
- 2:48It's kind of like me in Saint Louis, you know, Arnold, MO
- 2:52Imperial, it's all together. But boy, there must be a it's
- 2:56kind of like down South, the Macon County line.
- 2:59You go past this line and it's Ormond Beach.
- 3:04Craiger, Craiger. You never thought in a million
- 3:07years that I would use this as material.
- 3:09How many repeat, how many of you people live in those towns where
- 3:12it's like it's the Macon, you know, Macon County line.
- 3:16There was a movie years ago and you know, you're down South,
- 3:20Down past Atlanta, And once you cross the Macon County line,
- 3:26that's Macon County, damn it. All right, so I'll never forget
- 3:31how, you know, I'm an Arnold, MO guy, but my address is Imperial.
- 3:35And I said I don't want to hear it.
- 3:37I'm an Arnold guy. That's all there is to it.
- 3:39So so I get it, Gregor. All right, everybody, man, how
- 3:45about how about last night for me, 76 cars.
- 3:50And I want to thank all the fans that have been coming into the
- 3:53pit area to see me and they're so nice to me.
- 3:57And one guy said, you know, you really did straighten me out.
- 4:02I, I kind of forgot how many cars show up at these races, 76
- 4:06race cars and just to make the starting 24.
- 4:10So the old man, you know, justifies things with his way.
- 4:15So in other words, I'm the old man and I justify things my way
- 4:19to keep me motivated. So good run for us last night.
- 4:23Finished 14th out of 76 cars and listen content is not in my
- 4:30vocabulary. Am I happy with 14th?
- 4:33Hell no. That sucks.
- 4:35It's horrible. I don't even know why race Mark
- 4:40Martin used to say you don't Mark would run 8th in his NASCAR
- 4:45days and it's horrible. I don't even know why I raise
- 4:49I'm that's when you're young. But when you get off, I'll never
- 4:53forget Buzzy Ruderman said to me, I run third in a big race
- 4:59about 3 years ago here at Volusia, and I was not too happy
- 5:01with running third. And Buzzy Ruderman said to me,
- 5:07he says, Kenny, can I talk to you?
- 5:10And because we had talked the night before at the Denny's and
- 5:14you know, of course, this struggle with when to quit, when
- 5:17not to quit. And then all the legends came
- 5:20out of the woodworks. Kenny Schrader, Don Perdome,
- 5:23Walker Evans, all these people don't quit, don't quit.
- 5:28Well, oh, Buzzy goes, Kenny, can I talk to you?
- 5:32And boy, he was serious. He says, you know, we don't have
- 5:36to win to have fun. What?
- 5:42Winning's the only thing that's that's all there is.
- 5:45If you run second, you suck. You're the first loser.
- 5:50Stop and think about it. And that is a miserable way to
- 5:53live. I think sometimes we put on a
- 5:56show to make people understand how bad we want it.
- 6:00You better not be happy with second.
- 6:02You better not be happy with 14th.
- 6:05Guess what? This is modified.
- 6:07We don't do this for a living. Oh my God, Herman, quit cussing.
- 6:12Kids are watching this. Is that a bad word?
- 6:16Did you know that? Dale Earnhardt, Junior, what do
- 6:19you get, $25,000 fine after he won Talladega for saying that
- 6:26word? Wow.
- 6:28So it's kind of weird. You wouldn't think that's cuss
- 6:30word, but some people deem it like that.
- 6:33All right, switching subjects, you still got those weirdos out
- 6:39there. What kind of coffee you drink?
- 6:41Is there really coffee in the mug?
- 6:43I'm like, come over here, let me slap you.
- 6:47Sometimes people, sometimes people, they're born from a
- 6:50different, different, I don't know, different mold.
- 6:52They're a little weird. Oh my God, I can't believe I
- 6:55just said that, but I did OK. Bowman Gray.
- 6:59We are switching subjects. Almost, almost messed it up.
- 7:06I'm not going to chew my ass out.
- 7:07I almost messed the word subject up, but I got it out OK.
- 7:14Bowman Gray last night. The reason I think Bowman Gray
- 7:17was so good and just so happy is because they raced there every
- 7:24week with the Wayland NASCAR modifieds.
- 7:28So, so Bowman Gray is at racetrack where it's packed
- 7:31anyway. Bowman Gray They pack them in
- 7:34there anyway every, every, every single weekend during race
- 7:39season. And they wanted it to work.
- 7:42That's the difference. When we went to the LA Coliseum,
- 7:47the fans did not want it to work because it was not in their
- 7:50backyard. And it's, you know, it, they did
- 7:53not want it to work. Joey Logano Last night, Joey
- 7:57Logano said there was way more room to pass at the LA Coliseum.
- 8:04And I thought, Oh my. And Joey would know because he
- 8:07won those LA Coliseum races. Joey ran second last night.
- 8:11Hey, listen, there was 4 heat races.
- 8:14Two were clean and green. There's a the other two were
- 8:17wreck them up, sock them up. How about Ryan Priest?
- 8:20He cleaned, he cleaned out old John Hunter Nemecheck here.
- 8:23Here's the deal about Bowman Gray.
- 8:25If you hit me out of the way and I can get back to you, you're
- 8:29going. So, but we got it's, I think you
- 8:32got to move them. You know, you got to move them.
- 8:34Harry, Harry Gant was good at moving people.
- 8:37I remember one time I was going into turn 3 and I just was up
- 8:40the track and I'm like, why am I up the track?
- 8:43It's because Harry get didn't hit me.
- 8:45He laid his bumper on me and kind of pushed me up the track.
- 8:49So I think you know this, this running in and just smashing
- 8:55into the other driver. You better put him out and that
- 8:58and that's what Ryan Priest did. He hit John Hunter Nemecheck so
- 9:02hard he put him out so John Hunter could hardly come back to
- 9:05him. But I I think we will have some
- 9:08madhouse moments at Bowman Gray. I think you might see Kyle Busch
- 9:13get out of his car. Hey, respond right here.
- 9:16Who will be the first NASCAR driver to run across the green
- 9:21grass and try to kick somebody else's ass?
- 9:23That'd be funny. I wonder if that would fall
- 9:27underneath NASCAR rules. No, it can't.
- 9:30It's it's Bowman Gray. All right, everybody, tonight is
- 9:34the big race. I think it starts at 6:00 or
- 9:388:00. It's prime time.
- 9:40It prime time baby Larry Macron will be on broadcast.
- 9:45So Bowman Gray is a hit because they race there every week.
- 9:50That's why. And the fans packed the place as
- 9:53it is. So it's going to be sold out.
- 9:56And remember now, remember what I've been teaching you guys sold
- 10:00out is like 5000 people. So when you see this racetrack
- 10:04sold out, you know, like you do your local dirt races, we're
- 10:08sold out as packed. It's a bigger crowd than the
- 10:11NASCAR race. Simmer down, people.
- 10:14It's 5000 people, it's 5000 people.
- 10:19It ain't like it's going to Phoenix and there's 60,000
- 10:22people. But still, it's a good look.
- 10:25It's good optics all right. But you know, while we were
- 10:29racing last night and we had a little downtime, we did get on
- 10:33our cell phones because my dear friend Nick Hoffman, we were
- 10:36paying attention to Ricky Stenhouse.
- 10:39Ricky ran 8th and he'll have to go in the last chance qualifier.
- 10:43And then I think they're going to have a couple of provisionals
- 10:45for the the race at Bowman Gray. But respond right here.
- 10:49I just think Bowman Gray works because the fans want it to
- 10:53work. You know, you can will yourself
- 10:56to liking something. And I think since Bowman Gray
- 11:00got has history and they run there every week, it's going to
- 11:03work and it's and remember this, it's going to be there for two
- 11:06more years because NASCAR has the lease and they run the
- 11:10racetrack. Now.
- 11:12Remember that Ben Kennedy, he signed the lease to run Bowman
- 11:16Gray. So bro, Bowman Gray is NASCAR's
- 11:19sanctioning track now. So it ain't going anywhere.
- 11:23All right, everybody, I'm tired. I'm going to take it easy on
- 11:27this Sunday. Have a great Sunday.
