- Aaron: Howdy howdy and welcome back to Run After Cast, the college football podcast. I am your usual Monday show host, Aaron, joined by my two good friends, Ryan, Ryan: Hey guys. Aaron: and Chandler. Chandler: Gentlemen. Aaron: And fellas, we wrapped up week zero of college football. We're back, baby. We all spent an entire day, for me, over fourteen hours straight watching college football and it felt good. It felt great, I may say, to lose an entire day of productivity again. to our favorite pastime here. But before we get into all the game discussion, the breakdown, games that broke down, head over to the Reaction News Desk and get caught up on what possible news could keep coming up between week zero and preseason. Chandler: So I'm sure again, as you all know, since our news source is not going to be as updated as, you know, Pete Thammel and and Co. on the Twitter side of the house. But LSU is getting two NFL players, one from the Saints, one from the Browns, a tight end and a defensive lineman, I believe, a defensive player. and it was supposedly going to get held up in court or by the SEC because the SEC said, Hey, just because this injunction passed, we're gonna come down and say you can't do that. And if you do, there's a fifty percent fine on operational costs of the program. There's a fifty percent or halfway point of the season that you get suspended for, and you get removed from SEC voting, all kinds of different stuff. So the SEC was like, okay, just because it's passed, this is your punishment if you actually go through with it. Well Aaron: Mm. Chandler: The court came back again, a Baton Rouge court, and was like, Hey, you don't have that jurisdiction. They're able to play. So it'll be very interesting to g to see whenever Thursday's lineup reveals come out on LSU's roster to see if those two guys are on it. If so, I don't know what this sport has come into. If you go to the NFL, you should not be able to play college football, even if a five for five rule came back while you were not here. It's just I mean, that's you're in the pros. You were playing a preseason NFL game for the Browns as the tight end that was formerly on El Miss and now on L S U. It's it's insane. And I I think just because the rule got passed w before or after they went to the NFL, it should make a difference. I mean you chose to go pro, so Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, this is this is crazy. It was crazy when we talked about it, but it felt like something's gonna happen, it's gonna keep this from going on. I'll give the conferences credit here. They quickly tried to step in and be like, No, no, this isn't cool. And yeah, a singular judge in a Louisiana district could say, you can't do that. Sorry. no making rules for the sport. game that you all play. no, this is I this is one of those things that I know I've talked this whole time about. Like the NCAA has been battered legally recently, but it is entirely their own fault. This is stuff that they need to get out in front of. They have the money, they have the resources, they're apparently have enough for paying $65 million in legal fees. So therefore, you should probably go ahead and spend 66 and preemptively start writing up contracts that are going prevent some of these things that you could see happening and close loopholes. If you've left this Wild West mentality, it's because there's loopholes to exploit after coming in and doing it. And we need to tighten them up. We can't reactively fix these things. We have to proactively get out in front of it, make Broad rules, and if they felt like it, say, hey, this rule's gonna exist for five years and then we'll re-evaluate it in five years' time. That way it's for a graduating class, you get the you get an entire player's run through to be affected by it. But we can't sit back and just let these things keep happening because this is this is peak insanity. This is next to Soresbees, you can gamble on the sport and still play. This coming back of like, you can leave college football. Like somebody let Aaron Rodgers know if it doesn't work out on the Steelers for him this year. Like he can always come back. Give it a shot. See if college is for him. Ryan: But it seems like the NCA was frustrated that all these old guys kept playing, so they were gonna limit it to five years, but then that actually, weirdly enough, enticed the NFL guys to come back. That seems pretty weird. But this is modern college football. You don't get what you want, you go to court, they give it to you. you want a seventh year of eligibility? Here you go. You gamble, you can play. Now they finally topped it to like what else? You're an NFL player? You can play. I don't know how this is gonna work because I know they already have a tight end. Trade is green's supposed to be so good. But this might be like the Georgia Brock Bowers Darno Washington era, where you just have two monster tight ends out there, which that would be pretty crazy. But what is it? yeah, that'd be pretty crazy. But I think if you get paid by the NFL at all, you get one check, can't play. Back in the day, it's like you take an unofficial visit to an NFL thing that happened to Bo Jackson. He got tricked to go visit the Buccaneers and he thought it was approved, and he just immediately couldn't play baseball the next day. He had to be done with college sports. I think if you at least go to the camp and practice with him, you shouldn't play, but especially if you get at least one NFL paycheck or sign a contract or something, you shouldn't be able to play anymore. Chandler: mean I'll take it a step further. I think if you declare for the draft, that's like your transition to the NFL. Like you're done with Aaron: That's retirement. Yep. Chandler: college, like you've made your bed, like you you think that you're good enough to play in the NFL. I'm done with college. College is in the review mirror. And what's even crazier is Tommy Castellanos entered into the draft and he's able to come back and be Texas Tex quarterback. And just because he wasn't ever signed on a team, he's like somehow exempt from this whole fiasco and he's able to Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: just walk into Texas Tech, fly under the radar and be like, NFL didn't work out, let's play again, get that draft stock back up and maybe it'll work out next year. Aaron: I mean, we all knew Texas Tech was gonna pop their head up into this at some point. And I'm I'm Chandler: I mean they needed a quarterback. Aaron: also gonna say this this one goes out directly to Lane Kiffin after Texas Tech. After Brendan Soresby, after all of this. You just had to do nothing to not be the biggest villain in college football. And now Texas Tech is like wiping the sweat off their forehead, going, Whew, we dodged a bullet this one. Like Lane, you gotta You gotta settle down a little bit because everybody's mad. Like, I I believe even in the voting for the SEC, the LSU president voted to say like NFL players should not return. So it's like this Chandler: Right. Aaron: is getting to be we're drawing some lines across college football, and I think Lane Kiffin is willingly stepping and drawing the line himself on the wrong side of it. Ryan: Aaron, would you say this is a lane violation? Aaron: Yes, yes. Chandler: I was just about to say that it's even crazier that he was on the the Fansville Doctor Pepper commercial saying that he doesn't like to follow the rules. So I mean Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: it's i you can't like Ryan: Mm-hmm. Chandler: script anything better. This is why we love college football. All this crazy stuff. Great. Ryan: Okay, I will say he he Aaron: yeah. Ryan: technically is following the rules. It's just frustrating that it keeps working out. He's literally doing every unethical thing possible and it's working out. It's like the Kirby Smart Clapping thing, calling a timeout, you know. If you can get away with it, good for him. It's just so frustrating. Chandler: Yeah. And I mean truthfully it's it's not even that I'm frustrated with the players, because like if I was a guy in that situation and you're like, Okay, hey, like you can go back and play, like this court just granted it to you, like sure, I'm gonna do that. Like there's no hate to those guys for trying to make ends meet and go back Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: and and keep making a name for themselves. And it's really not even Aaron: Shoot your shot. Chandler: it's really not even on the coaches because it's if it's a if it's able to do it, like, great. Even though it's more unethical on their end. But it's more so like we said the NCAA and all these like just the courts being able to overrule everything. And and like it's basically like we're playing for the judicial branch of the government. Like it Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. And like I said, it all comes back to the NCAA not tightening these things down. Like they should. Like this comes down when we talked about five for five. It was very clear written. It went in there. This is an unintended consequence. I don't think that undoes the benefit of what the five for five playing rule brings up, but it is still something that it's like you should also have a lawyer look over that and say, Where could somebody take this to court? And then write that in and seal that up. Like somebody coming back and saying like, hey, I'm using this as extending my eligibility even after the pros, it's a shocker to us, but it's not our jobs. Like this is a fun thing that we do. I'm sure a lot of the players didn't even consider it. But lawyers probably do think about these things and their consequences when you're writing them. So there's about a thousand more things that need to get addressed in the meantime. So learn a lesson here. Write things the way they should be written, closed as tight as possible, because now we're seeing if there's any wig wiggle room in any of these written rules. Somebody is gonna take it to court and probably in a district with a alumni or friendly to the school judge and they're gonna say, I think if we read the words in a different language, it says that it's fine. And Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: that's gonna happen from here on out to we either have players signing a complete agreement to saying like, hey, we agree to play by the rules as long as they are fairly administered. and clearly written and from in our time playing in the NCAA sanctioned teams. Whatever they want to do. And if it makes a couple schools mad and they say we're going to leave, let them talk about it. You know, I and I'm not saying they have to stay part of the NCAA. They could go too far that somebody else has to do something about it. But it's still something, you know, one school making a lot of noise because it directly impacts the way they're doing something. when every other school is doing it the normal way, that's that's on that school. They have to adjust. Ryan: See, but what happened to the old era where you used to have these these companies like the NCA who are purposely there to be really strict in rules. you trade like a jersey for a tattoo. All right, we're taking all of your games away. Like you're so strict. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: But then nowadays, the two biggest no no's in sports is you can't gamble and you're not allowed to play prof professionals aren't allowed to play amateur sports. Well next, are we gonna let boys play like girls boxing or something? It makes no sense. But like I don't know what they're gonna do. If you can like go to the court for anything nowadays, the NCA doesn't even really have to be there at this point. What is worse than this that we could go above their head to the court, you know? Apparently they have no jurisdiction if they don't have jurisdiction over this. They're just kind of there Chandler: Yeah, exactly. Ryan: to put in these rules that you can follow if you want, but apparently they're not even legal things that are they're doing. Chandler: Yeah, they're g they're guidelines, not rules. Yeah. I and Aaron: Yeah, the suggestions. Ryan: Yeah. Chandler: and what's crazy is you can say like, this is a one off situation of like this is a now thing. They these guys that went bef after the five for five was established, that's why it's coming back. Which is fine and great. But every single time the NCAA has made any kind of rule change or tried to make a rule change or something's happened in this whole entire offseason, some kind of court case has come about. after it, very shortly after it. So it's not like it's just a one on, like fool me once type of situation. This is like fool me like fifty times and I like I have no jurisdiction at all. So Aaron: Well, and I think this just comes down to this has been a problem from a lot of early rules. There there's stuff that's been written in college football rules that has been vaguely written intentionally all throughout because there was a lot of wiggling around. I mean, we we s talk about NIL now, and it's like, well, players can get paid, and it's like they've always had benefits. The f schools have been recruiting through gray money for the sport's history. It's not new. It's just now the players get to like write it on their tax forms. Like it's and probably a lot better paid. I'm not saying NIL's done no harm, but it is something that it's like it has been there. And a lot of these things, it's like the favor curried from one program when they're creating these rules, left it where it's like, if we leave this little wiggle room, then somebody can utilize that. And like it's just I think back of like all those examples of like Missouri complying with the NCAA and it's like sanction. Like every time, every time they just like tried to do something where it was like let's just fall a little we'll just comply and then they got sanctioned for it. Now it's like, well did they think about going to a judge and saying they're not sanctioned? Because that apparently works. Like it just is something where we have to tighten it up. They have to use clear language, simple things. Are there gonna be cases like this NFL moment when you do that where somebody's gonna say, well, this is clearly written, short verbiage means I can come back for another year. No, here's your court case that says it. You have to go through all these hoops. Fine. In a few years it will not be a possibility for that to happen anymore. And they can write a rule that says when you go to the draft, you cannot come back. It it seems like something that it's pretty easy to write these things in. establish these rules and then just have a little foresight to say where can somebody exploit this with the help of a friendly judge. And because that's the way they have to think about things now. Ryan: Will say I I do feel a little bad for like guys like Tommy Castellanos that go to the draft and go get drafted. But yeah, at the end of the day, if you go to the draft, you shouldn't go. I do feel for them a little bit. Like I want everyone to have a chance, you know? But it's just frustrating that, you know, if you get to get whatever you want though, you're gonna go to court. Jonathan, what's something that you want? Give me an example of something you want. Chandler: What do you want, Ryan? Ryan: Okay. Aaron: I want whatever I'm benching right now to count as four or five. Ryan: If you could go to court and they put a rule that it counts as four five, would you go? Aaron: No, it's not a good enough reason. I'm very lazy. Ryan: What Chandler: This is a perfect bit. Clip it. Ryan: Perfect. Yeah. That's y exactly what I was getting at, by the way. Aaron: No, no, now if we're saying like, hey, ten million dollars for each episode of Rack, I'm going to court. You you guys are paying me. you know, it's I it is something that it's like Chandler: Perfect. Aaron: if it's an easy way, we got it. Like i if a lawyer says, just let me file this to this p specific judge to review, you'll get your money. I don't blame the player for that. I I blame the administration and implementation of the rules. That's Chandler: See and who who was I to think that, you know, a couple years ago, whenever the whole cheating scandal happened and they didn't get justification for that. They like, no, it's fine, like we'll just, you give you a couple game bands and then we'll make it into a Netflix documentary series. I thought that was gonna be like pretty peak crazy and then that still is pretty up Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: there, but now we have NFL players coming back to play college football. So it's just it's insane. Aaron: Yeah, next week we'll Ryan: Yeah. Aaron: hear Connor Stallions is allowed to be on any s team sideline that he chooses to be on. Chandler: Exactly. Ryan: Yeah, I think when a team cheated when the national championship they didn't do anything, we should have realized that they they don't care anymore. No Chandler: no they did. Netflix documentary. They made money. They they made more money off of it. Aaron: Yeah. You should that money. Ryan: No, they didn't do any rule. Ooh Chandler: Yeah, take one. How did you cheat? Ryan: Bad boy, bad. Mm. Bad. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: No, don't cheat anymore. Okay. You're fine. You can keep your national championship. No more of that. Chandler: And as a matter of fact, Netflix come on in. Let's let's get this get this tape Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: rolling. Ryan: Yeah, we should have known they don't care about the rules anymore. They just do whatever they want. JJ Chandler: Yeah. Well Ryan: McCarthy's a good quarterback. Chandler: I mean we just had a modern day like Pete Rose situation like amplified to like the thousandth degree and he's still playing gotch football. Aaron: Thousands of bets. Yeah. no, absolutely. Ryan: Except Lane would have let play though. Chandler: True. Ryan: Lane would have said, they'll let him play. Sure. I didn't let Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Ryan: play. The the court did. Aaron: It's I and I will say I do respect Drinkwitz for coming out in his little post game. He's like, this is a clown show. And I was like, I Chandler: yeah, the Cleveland coach. Aaron: love I love the heat he brought to it where it's like, I guess it just doesn't matter anymore. Nothing matters. And I was like, I I respect that. Like it this is a clear cut take, just like gambling. NFL players can't play college. Seemed pretty simple. I I like the I like the call out. Look at me being Ryan: The Browns coach should have said, You know, it's fine, he could play out of my team, he didn't make my team, he sucks. Go let him play. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: Last thing want to say. On the like the side that nobody's really thinking about, that I kind of I read an article about and I was like, wow, that kind actually does suck. So they have to have their like roster solidified. They have a certain amount of spots in their roster, right? Well, now this guy comes back from NFL. Now some random person that was super low string is now cut from the team and like is now a week before the game, now you're not on the team. Good luck. So that that Ryan: Okay, okay, okay. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: sucks too. Ryan: There are practice squad kind of guys in college though that we're never gonna play and they're technically not on the official roster, but like redshirted kinda. I think you could technically be redshirted and not on the roster. So it might be like a redshirt guy. Chandler: Is that still a thing now? Ryan: I'm pretty sure. I'm not completely sure, so don't clip this. But there's something like yeah, like you you're not official. Chandler: Interesting. Well if that's wrong, I apologize, but yeah. Aaron: That that one, yeah, I I will say listeners, if you have a little more insight in this, just because this is something when you're having a discussion about these things, you can't always get all the answers before the show. So Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: if you do happen to know, can players does this impact them being completely removed from the team, or is there some slots that are available for somebody that is getting bumped like that to not necessarily lose all the benefits of being a student athlete? that would be great to hear a little more further information on. Chandler: Fifth string titan now gets to just wash clothes instead of suit up. Aaron: But I don't think this will be the last week we talk about this because I think it will definitely come up in next Monday's episode because we'll have a little more coming out about it. The I'm not gonna say this is news. This will be my transition into the main game discussion here. the one thing I wanted to point out and say you know, good riddance to ESPN did away with the score ticker at the bottom. I know we're gonna be dis divided on this issue. I've been asking for this. My wife has heard this rant for years about me saying, get rid of that bottom scrolling text that is unnecessary in the modern era. So I loved the format of the way they had the scoreboard. It looked clean. I was happy to see a properly resolution game where they didn't have to scrunch up the screen and ESPNs broadcast because they took up the bottom 12 to 16% of the screen. with text and decided to squash the aspect ratio down to make up for that. So nice to see a full resolution game. Ryan: It is a little nostalgic though. I kinda used to like reading Chandler: I yeah. I Ryan: the teams at the bottom. Cause then I'm like I there's a game I watch, I'm like, my, they came back or wow that's close and I'll like flip over and turn it on. But it is it does mess the video Aaron: I will say I liked Ryan: up, I guess. Aaron: it I liked the happy medium that they had where they had in the top right, right about here, they had the scores flashing through. I didn't have to hear about what was going on with the masters. I didn't have to hear about you know what the score for a current women's volleyball game is. Like I I'm not dunking on the sports, but I am watching college football at the time. I don't need to hear who's coming up on Peyton and Eli next Wednesday. Like that didn't matter to me. And that's what Like would constantly go down there and then you'd see it. I have a phone, I can check the scores there. I did like that they still had them up there. I was like, cool. Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: Like they they got the score. They got it. It didn't impact the screen. It was fine. As a neurodivergent OCD ADD person, you put a bunch of scrolling text on the screen. I gotta read it. I gotta look at it. Like that's that's gotta be read. And I only can read about you know Eli and Payton's special guest 15 times in the first quarter. Before rage starts to build up in me. Chandler: You know, I I actually agree. I mean it was it sucks to see it go, but I'm glad if it they were gonna take it away, they would supplement it with something that that little ESPN bubble that came up, like every once in a while it had that cool little jingle Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: to it. And like it would flash a couple of games and then it would go away. Like I did I did like that they kept you updated with other games of the sport that you're actually watching on the TV and not that not Aaron: W Yeah. Chandler: something else is going on. So it was cool that they Ryan: Yeah. Chandler: did flash those. Ryan: yeah, if the ticker was just football, which I feel like this new thing kind of was, I I like that. But it is interesting how they decide to change the format so much. Yeah, but I don't I don't wanna see ads down there and stuff, I guess. Aaron: No, no. And it just it to me it was distracting. And I understand a lot of people that are saying like it's nostalgic. Well, take that nostalgia, get a pager, and have a number call you, go to a payphone, call and get the score updates. Because that's also nostalgia for people my age. And it sucked that all of that was not very useful where my smartphone where I can Google like a Neanderthal and say college game score and then I hit the go button and then all the scores come up. That's plenty easy for me and I do that every commercial break. And that was enough for me where I was like I don't need the aspect ratio thrown off on every game. It it just drove me insane as a video minded person that that happened. So my rant is over. It just I feel alleviated. I feel lighter now that it's gone. I feel better. Chandler: You look better. Aaron: I do, I I got a glow that is a man whose eyes are less strained from frantic neurodivergent reading. But in my joy of not having to see it, it meant I was watching college football for the first time in a year. So we had it that's not true. Before the Chandler: Eight months. Aaron: Thursday game, I watched the UWF game. I had a great time. Way to go UWF. Great football game. Can't wait to see what you guys do. It's a lot of fun. I'm sure we're gonna catch a UWF game sometime this season. but congratulations to them. But let's get on to these Saturday games. Before we spend too much time with the UWF teams, and let's kick it off where it all started in Ireland with ECU and UNC. I know you boys watch this game, so what'd you think? Chandler: Very first takeaway was I'm glad that Bill Belichick did not have his fans leaving in the fourth quarter down by 30 again for their opener. So at least no matter how the win looked, they got a win. He's starting one and he's turned the page. He at least has a positive record now. So that's good. And I think Billy Edwards, the guy they got from Maryland, looked good. I mean, he didn't throw an interception, he threw for like 230 yards. There was no passing touchdowns, which is kinda weird to see in a football game. Aaron: I gonna say that two hundred and thirty yards. We're on the green. Chandler: Yep, they were no passing touchdowns. But I mean I didn't think it was I didn't think it was bad from I mean there was a lot of sloppiness, but quarterback play as far as the UN C side went, I mean it wasn't horrible. Ryan: Yeah, I saw him he was six for ten with like a hundred and something yards at some point, and they panned over to the bench to say, That guy next to him is this other quarterback. He plans to come in later. I'm like, No, feed the hot hand. He's doing great right now. Don't put the other guy in. What are you doing? You know? But also, TCU, pretty frustrating to watch. They were literally running the College football twenty seven cheesy meta offense where you just run outside runs and when they're in zone coverage you rip the seam and then H B slip screens. But Bill Belichick was like, No more H B slip screens on me. I'm gonna stuff these outside runs H B slip screen and he came out victorious. So that was great. I we did lose our thing, our bet, but I kinda just only did that to make a Bill Belichick joke, so I apologize. Aaron: I don't. I'm gonna say here, I'm coming in with I I have heard all weekend now about the turnaround. TCU looked terrible. I'm I'm sorry, TCU fans. I know y'all are a lively bunch, but a lot to believe in in your program, and you didn't see it on Saturday. I saw a mess. It was rough. Like UNC is lucky to have win that won that game because apparently. When we're making offensive calls for TCU, we're d field goals terrify us. Why take easy three points when we can go for it? Even if it's fourth and seven and you're only 20 yards away from a field goal, it's like we're going for it. And it's like just they would have won if they took those field goals. We had a safety bad snap. Rough conditions. like I'm not gonna say like that's it's a momentum swing. It absolutely sucks some of the air out of the offense. When the safety happened but through the weather the everything go for it. Chandler: Can I Can I say that my line for the notes was the safety by TCU gave UNC the lead and was a huge momentum swing. And you Aaron: It it is like it was it is a momentum swing, but I don't think it was for UNC. It was against TCU to just say like, man, it's rough out here. Like they just looked like they wanted to go home. Like they just looked sad. Ryan: Will say, I don't know why it is. I know they're probably playing on like a soccer field or whatever, because they're in Ireland. But the only other time I've seen someone play in a soccer field a few years ago, there was a was it the Green Bay Packers and the Eagles played in Brazil. What game was that? This was three years ago. They played in Brazil. They played on a soccer field. And I guess the grass is longer and it's kind of wet and they slip around all that time. So I don't know why we keep playing on these socks. Yeah, I don't know why we keep playing the soccer fields. Aaron: Yeah, they they are slippier. I'm gonna say, why are we having college athletes playing in Ireland week zero? I they I I just think about this game and I'm like, I love the concept for NFL. Like, a you're trying to get a new audience, you're reaching out and saying, Hey, we're bringing American football to you know European viewers. Chandler: Better football. Aaron: Okay, Ryan. it is something that w like it's worth an effort. These are college kids. Who's gonna like be sitting in Ireland and go, you know who I'm gonna really root for? That Pexan Christian University. I don't that just seems like a thing I'm attached to now. Like this is something that we've all grown up with. We have like history we with, like a lot of us find our love of college football either inherited or earned through going to the school itself. So it's like it there's a there's a hell love for it. You're sending kids over for a long flight. jet lag to play week zero football. If this was a bowl game, I think I'd I think I'd be fine with it. I think like as a bowl game it's a good premise. Like, you get to go play in the Ireland bowl. Cool. that's a choice a team can make. They can choose to elect out of it. This is this this counts for somebody's season. And it's a mess every time. Cause it rains, we're playing on a different pitch. Like everything about this is not standard football for College kids to open their season with and have it count. Chandler: Well, I will say, Ryan: Yeah, but why do we sorry. Chandler: n there's no more week zero games after this year. So that's good. All the season shifting left. Aaron: Yeah, so we don't have to worry about that. So now week one Ireland game. Chandler: Even better. Ryan: Yeah. But why do we have college kids playing in in Ireland? Don't you have school or something to get to? You got a s syllabus quiz to study for? But I do think though, Aaron, it's just what this podcast is, you know? We're trying to show people how great college football is. That we're going over in Ireland and we're showing them what some real football looks like, you know, and letting them be like, wow Real football is pretty cool, you know. I can't believe we watch soccer over here. Chandler: Well since I'm better teams. I mean Aaron: Yeah, yeah, where Ryan: Yeah, since I'm in our teams Aaron: I'm gonna tell Ryan: Yeah. Aaron: ya, any local person that went to this game on a whim and was like, Maybe I'll just show up, maybe it'll be a laugh. And they watch this and they go, Wow, I don't get it. I don't get why they love it so much over here. I Chandler: Well neither did we. We didn't get it either. Aaron: I saw a man kick a ball backwards out of the thing. They threw two points up and then they had to kick it to the people again. I don't Chandler: Back in the insone. Aaron: really get this sport. So yeah, it it just it seemed like a mess. It seemed Like things started collapsing on TCU very early on. And I'm not gonna say entirely on TCU. The weather changed, that's changed your playbook entirely. Wet ball scenario. We saw it slipping and sliding all over the place. And yeah, the choice to not hit field goals meant UNC won it, and we get to hear about how Bill Belichick's turned this program around. I will say a lot better result than last year, where they got absolutely blown out. But to win in a one possession game where the other team stopped playing in the third quarter seems also not great. Chandler: Yeah, TCU had 11 Ryan: Also Chandler: penalties for 89 Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: yards. 11. Aaron: And some that I think Chandler: That's more points than they had. Aaron: was it the TCU game? I believe it was where we had the unsportsmanlike delayed hit on the l defense where he went after the quarterback after the quarterback just slipped on the turf and goes down on his butt and comes in like four steps later and rams him, Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: which I did want to say I wanted to point that out because I thought that was a moment people are going to point to and be like, what is TCU going on about? It really felt like when the quarterback went down, he had the ball in his other hip and he just kind of sat there and accepted his fate. But I wanted to give the defensive player who's gonna get a lot of flack this week the benefit of the doubt that that probably looked like a fumble and it looked more like he was trying to dive in there and get to a ball and w if with the quarterback holding it on the side of his hip. He probably shouldn't have gone in. He should have reacted and not made contact. But it didn't look like it was as much of a cheap hit as it was of trying to make a play on a ball that actually wasn't loose. Ryan: What about this one sports and like though? Aaron: Hey, that one got to just play on. We got to leave that one. And the announcers even talked about it. They were like, That's Ryan: I know I'm shocked. Those Ireland guys. It must the rules must have not made it over to Ireland yet. Aaron: Yeah, they, you know, they sent him on the boat and Chandler: Yeah. Carrier pigeon. Aaron: Yeah. Didn't make it. But I did like that they Ryan: I will s Aaron: pointed it out. They're like, Technically that's a foul now. you Ryan: Yeah, yeah. Aaron: know, it's week zero. They're probably letting the boys play. And you're like, Okay, all right, Chandler: So when it when it happens in a Ryan: Two big takeaways though. Chandler: in a in a matter like a big situation like in the in you know rivalry game and it happens we're gonna be like no in week zero is fine and then there's gonna be a court suing. There's gonna it's gonna be there's Aaron: Yeah. Yep. Ryan: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Chandler: gonna be an injunction. Ryan: Yeah there will. Yeah, there will. Two big takeaways though. The TCU coach revolutionized football by creating the outside run. The announcers are shocked that they were running stretch plays. Chandler: Yeah. Ryan: I couldn't believe it. Also, very scared for Indiana, because all they talked about is how much better TCU's quarterback was that Josh Hoover wasn't there to throw fourteen interceptions this year. So Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: Kurt could probably take him in and hone him in, but lower turnover trouble. Something to look forward to in the Indiana games. Aaron: So do you guys have any final thoughts on TCU UNC are we gonna see the new Patriots run out of UNC? Like it seems like a lot of announcers are hyping up in our week zero results. So but yeah, with a what I'm gonna say is a disappointing ball game to kick that we zero off with, we then go to the other side of the spectrum. to see a team play amazing, an absolute incredible ball game in our NC State Virginia game. So what'd you boys take away from that? Chandler: Well, off the bat, you know, 0 2 for the predictions that I had. So if you were if viewers are learning quickly to not listen to me. Viewers Aaron: yeah, I I wanna say I think we all did terrible. I think I I lost everything. Chandler: should not listen to me and my predictions. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: but off the bat, we were super high on CJ Bailey, and he looked like he's never thrown a football before. So I think him coming out being he was what, twelve for twenty three, eighty four yards interception, not too good. Then like Aaron said, on the flip side of the ball, Bo Prabula lights out. The dude was nine for eleven, hundred and fifty five yards, two touchdowns. And then also ran for fifteen carries and a hundred and ten yards. So the dude was he was he was clicking. Yeah, he was clicking. Aaron: Yeah. Everywhere. Yeah. Chandler: And I mean Xavier Brown, the receiver, looked good. They were converting on almost half their third downs. I mean Aaron: When they got to third down. Yeah. Chandler: Yeah, I mean they they did fine. On the other side, I mean NC State hunted seven times and only converted four first de fourth down or third downs. So it was a disaster Ryan: L say. Chandler: on on the NC State side of the ball. Ryan: NC State looked terrible. You know, when your whole team leaves, DJ Bailey's pretty much whole team transferred. So it's kinda hard to get better from last year when your whole team's gone. And which Chandler: Yeah. Ryan: showed really bad. And I don't even really know how good Virginia was because they were NC State was just so bad. But Virginia looked solid. They look solid. But Aaron: Yeah. I I do want to take I want to take an opposing position here. I actually think NC State didn't look that bad. I think to me, when when I was watching the game, the note I took from this game is NC State looks like they're playing week zero football. There was mis cues, there Chandler: That's fair. Aaron: was there was jitteriness, there was some confusion and hesitation that you see every week zero team do. Virginia looked like they were playing their 11th game of this season. They were poised. They looked confident. Like I felt terrible for NC State that they drew Virginia here because I think any other team they went up against, there was a competent game. I felt bad for Bailey because Virginia brought pressure from every angle all the time. And they were getting through. That D line was having a day. And it was it was great. the coverage core was keeping tight. There was not a lot of windows to go to and he did not have a lot of time in the pocket to find them. So I felt like NC State looked bad because Virginia was playing so good. They seem like a threat. I'm not gonna go out on a limb here because if this week taught me anything, it's I actually don't know this sport at all. I don't understand football because every prediction of mine was wrong, but It is something that I'm not gonna say they're taking the whole thing. I'm not gonna blow it up that high. I will say they looked like an absolute legitimate threat for most teams out there. They l it would be hard to, I think, like before we were recording, I was saying it's a shame they're not on the top twenty-five preseason poll because they played like they should have. And I felt like you could have slotted them pretty high up in that list and felt confident that they could beat any team under them. Because they looked that good to me. Like there was just no mistakes to really say they need to work on this by next week. Ryan: Yeah, they played clean football. I was gonna say NC State looked really sloppy, but I guess we can blame it on League Zero. Chandler: But still a game that counts on the record, so not a preseason game. Aaron: I I think there there's leeway you have to give. Yeah, absolutely. Ryan: Yo, it counts. Yeah, yeah, it counts. Aaron: It is not. It is it is an official game and you have to live with the consequences of it, but it is still something that I thought NC State showed up. They looked like a football team. And sometimes in week zero, that's a good thing. but then when you're up against Virginia who looked like they were ready for postseason, that was rough. But congratulations to our UVA fans out there. Like, what a way to start your season. What a absolute blast of a game that must have been. And to go from such a high as a UVA fan, I think we're gonna have to go down real low as an FSU fan to talk about our next game, New Mexico State and FSU. I know we got some opinions on this, so boys let rip. Chandler: You go first. Ryan: FSU looked like FSU. I'm used to FSU being pretty bad. Aaron: Ha ha ha. Ryan: But I was hoping, you know, you get a lot of SEC talent on your team. You get Contravian Weisner, who people in the TikTok comments were saying, why are you talking about Contravian Wisner? He's literally on the team. I know he's third string. He's he's really good, by the way. Ashton Daniels, you got all this SEC talent on your team. I thought you'd look like it a little. You looked like FSU. Sorry. New Mexico State, not that good. I mean, a couple key plays in there, and it's fourteen seventeen, you know? Chandler: Yeah, the trick play, the guy catches the ball in the corner of the end zone, it's yeah, it's fourteen seventeen Aaron: I Chandler: at halftime. Ryan: That's a close game. Aaron: absolutely brilliant play call, by the way. And played out incredibly well. What an unfortunate drop there. You know, it is something that it happens in New Mexico State is not a super high level program. so these kind of drops happen. so don't want to beat the guy up too much. But absolute banger of a play call plays out the exact way it should. And like I said, just an unfortunate drop in it. But it is a point in the game that FSU should have never had it close enough to have that kind of momentum swing possible. Ryan: Yeah, Florida State ran the Chandler: And I mean Ryan: ball very well, but at some point it's like, yeah, you you're the score didn't really show how close that game was, and it was very close at some point. Norvell was over on the sideline, kind of freaking out like this is a close game or something. Like you should have won forty to nothing. Yeah, you should have won forty to nothing. Mm-hmm. Aaron: Yeah, because he's gotta call the movers. Like he's gotta figure out how how to sell his house. Chandler: And like Ryan said, all this SEC talent coming in, you know, that left the SEC because they couldn't stay there, but their SEC talent. it got outpassed by seventy yards by New Mexico State. So that's not a good look at all. Aaron: Yeah. New Mexico State's getting pressure in from the trenches when they're fifty pounds outgunned on average. Like Ryan: Yeah, and Aaron: g credit to New Mexico State here for showing up and wanting to play. Like they did not look defeated. They looked gassed in the last quarter, but that's to be expected. Like that happens. And it's still like they were fighting an uphill battle. And FSU was like, we'll slow our roll to keep pace with them. Like they should have left them in the dust. They should have had it. I we I had the pre-game prediction of we're gonna see a better FSU this year. While I have changed my tune, I didn't see a lot to be excited for. I feel really bad for the FSU fans out there that have been so consistent and being very patient and like yeah, we should make some changes here, but I don't know if we have enough money. And now I feel like this stings even worse because of that. Ryan: New Mexico State's quarterback looked very good though, except for the first drive. They were moving the so the ball so well. It was so funny. My dad made a joke. He was like, They were doing so good, he just couldn't take anymore. He had to go throw an interception. It was so funny because he just lobbed it up. But the rest of the t Yeah, but that Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: The the off the back foot throw though was crazy. The touchdown he had. Ryan: ball, that ball looked like he just loffed in the air. But the rest of the time, he was actually so good. He had such good touch. He kinda just floated the pole out there and it would just line it would go right to it was so nice. He was actually very good. Such such precision and touch. Aaron: Which that's the big worry about FSU here is if your defense is making New Mexico State's quarterback look really good, no no shade at the New Mexico State quarterback. But like Ryan: No, do it. Aaron: like if he's got Chandler: Mm. Aaron: that many windows to throw to consistently, what's gonna happen when you go against like a real powerhouse team? When you're like you're not going up in Chandler: Like Clemson. Aaron: a two Yeah. We'll have we'll have Clemson to talk about next week. Ryan: Yeah, good one. Aaron: We'll we'll have that on the Thursday show. but Chandler: Okay, I I have two nice things to say about FSU. Not nice. I'll take my Ryan hat off. I have Aaron: I have one, so yeah. Chandler: I'll I'll say two competent looking things, okay? And again, it's New Mexico State. Shout out all the Aggies out there, but you know, not the ACC powerhouse talent that FSU's expecting to play. Osmain Aaron: To edit Chandler: Chroma had 14 carries, 115 yards, and touchdown. He looked good. And my second good thing I'll say is FSU's defensive line held him to 47 rushing yards. Again, New Mexico State, but they did their job when they're supposed to. Just like we'll talk about with USC and San Jose State. USC, when their starters were in, they did the job. And that's what you'd expect from a team that's playing a week zero game like this. You would expect a defensive line that is 50 pounds heavier and to go in and hold their own and prevent them from being able to run the ball. And they did that. So those are my two good things I took away that you can hold on to as tangible potential hope for FSU to maybe have a five hundred season. Ryan: Yes, I was gonna say that sorry. Aaron: save yourself the trouble, FSU fans. Don't invest that little bit of positivity into hope. Let's invest that into hoping. because hope is far too out there, out of reach for FSU it feels like this season. But you can use it to cope. And I think that's what you'll have to do. Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: Yes, I was gonna say FSU actually ran the ball very good. And Ashton Daniels can physically throw the ball. They just decided not to throw the ball because they just run up every play, apparently. So that's good, but yeah, a lot of potential there on the offense. But like we said in the prediction episode as well, we think they're gonna hand on Mexico State, they're gonna score a lot of points, but when it came to a real team, will the defense be able to stop them? I think now watching them, probably not. So we were onto Aaron: Now Ryan: something. Aaron: yeah, yeah. One Ryan: One thing, one thing. Aaron: thing. And that leaves me with my one positive for FSU. y'all's punter's got a leg. He's he was really good. I was really impressed with him. He had plenty of reps in this game. Chandler: Lot of reps. Yep. Aaron: but he boomed him, man. He sent him flying. And sometimes if you got a punt, you at least want to see a good one. And he was kicking some good ones many times. Ryan: You know Aaron: For week zero. Ryan: you know, I like I like this little thing we just did. It feels like Thanksgiving. Everyone name one thing you're thankful for from the FSU game. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Chandler: There you go. Now see now it'll Aaron: It Thanksgiving or therapy. Chandler: it'll be a lot easier for the next game, the US C and San Jose State game. And I know this is an opposite situation to where like the score didn't really reflect the dominance of like what USC actually did. 'Cause like when their Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: starters were in, it was still thirty five to three. So like they did what they were supposed to do. They got their touchdowns up, starters went off. So I think Jade Maava, three three incompletions, threw for about three hundred yards, two touchdowns, he did his job. Trent Mosley, Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: seven receptions, hundred eighteen yards, touchdown, as a true freshman, did his job. He's gonna be a person to watch. I'm excited about him. And my only sticking point is if your second and third string team can't hold San Jose State to less than twenty three points in one quarter, the depth could be a question mark, a tiny question mark, but a question mark nonetheless. Ryan: Their backup offense didn't look that bad though. I'm glad kind of that Lincoln Riley actually let them play, because I know we're joking about now how state game comes up that if Tavian and Brockboy and all them go in that we'd hope they still let them throw the ball and everything. And they did that. So I like that they give those second guys real reps in a game. And Jay Mav looked great, but you are playing San Jose State. I am disappointed though. You're at a big school like US C, you have all this appeal, and I know it's a week zero game, but you're at like you're in Tuscaloosa and there's a week zero game. You're in Ohio and there's a week zero game, everyone's gonna show up. And I know there's a different demographic over there in California. I don't really know how to word that without getting canceled. There's a we Chandler: There's a more th there's more things to do in LA than watch football. Ryan: No, I think the people there Aaron: Hm. Ryan: are not a bunch of southern hillbillies that like football, like we are. So they Aaron: Ha ha ha ha. Chandler: Ha ha ha. Ryan: they like to go like go to coffee shops and drink matcha or something instead of sitting in the hundred degree heat and watch the US C game. So Chandler: Ha ha ha. Ryan: I was a little disappointed to see an empty stadium. Aaron: I I will say people have made a very big deal about an empty stadium. It is true. You don't want to see Virginia sold out for their week zero. But at the same time, it was really hot. I did see the ticket prices, and I was like, I would have gone to that game. Like, I think some of them were like five bucks. yeah. Ryan: Were they five dollars? Give for free! Give for free. They can't selling Aaron: It's still something that I was like, they were priced reasonable. People didn't come out, but y I know there's people that are gonna say, like, hey, I'm not gonna go fight the traffic to watch a essentially what we can call a quote unquote pre-season game when it's not. It's still an actual season game. but it's not. We knew this wasn't gonna be a competitive game. We talked about it on Thursday or on Friday, that it wasn't gonna be a worry for USC. They handled it the way you should. This is you know, San Jose State still played. they they didn't embarrass themselves. It was Chandler: They did play. Aaron: it i they were there. Ryan: They were there. Aaron: and sometimes when you have these week one, week zero matchups, that's all you can say. That's what they were brought in to do was they were there to play and Chandler: Make a lot of money doing it. Aaron: and make a lot of money doing it support their program. So that's the way you handle this. You don't almost lose the lead by half for this same kind of game lead up FSU. So It is something that it's like this handled it. There's not a lot to comment on because I think they looked good. I think USC handled this and they had a good game to get the jitters out. I agree with you. There's that depth worry, but you also don't have a lot of time, your entire secondary and tertiary teams being able to come out and play for almost the whole quarter of football. So especially in week zero, we're gonna see issues, we're gonna see openings for it. I'm Glad Lincoln Riley pulled off the throttle there in a year where people are talking about this needs to prove for them. they could have put up a lot more numbers, which would have looked really good. But longevity of the program and safety of their run, I think, looked fine and was the right call. Ryan: I do have an idea though. I know it was hot, but they should have offered a free USC ticket with a matcha or whatever else they do that demographic does over there in California. Offered something for free, even though it's hot. You know, it's a wonderful stadium. I've always wanted to visit that stadium. They should have given some Aaron: It does look nice. Ryan: incentive to whatever else Chandler was saying that they do fun over there besides watch college football. It's the best thing ever. You know, let up some college football and tie some a little. Yeah. Aaron: Yeah. They do productive things. Maybe hike, maybe go to the gym on Saturday. You know, not watch fourteen hours of football like a degenerate. But Yeah. Ryan: They just have to watch three Three Hours. Jade Mayava, he's a Heisman favorite. Aaron: So good game for them. I I I don't have a lot of commentary on it, because it went straight, it played how it should. And yeah, the stadium was a little quieter than it should have been. but different fans for different folks, you know what I'm saying? So no, Ryan: Yeah, I made a big deal about it. It's not that bad. Aaron: I hey I think it's worth talking about. It is it was shocking. you know, the dozens of fans that did show up, you're the real ones. So Ryan: Literally. Aaron: but in the rare opportunity that when we get to that nine o'clock central time, ten o'clock eastern time where we're gonna see a kickoff where dads go to fall asleep. And we had a darling of a game in our late night slot here. We had UNLV, Memphis, my game of the week, the one I was so excited for, and boy was I rewarded for such an exciting like build-up for this. Maybe not the way I thought I was gonna get it, which would be a UNL V win, but did get to see an amazing game of football. Ryan: Dude, it was so good. That was probably my most exciting game of the week. And that's kind of sad. Mountain West game or whatever they're even in. But playoff implications week zero, pretty huge. Marcus Stokes from UWF, he looked amazing. Aaron: Look great. Ryan: Jackson Arnold. Chandler: He was lighting it up. Ryan: Jackson Arnold. I am so happy that Jackson Arnold got to play and that he did so good. I was saying the whole time, I knew when he was at Auburn, it was not Jackson Arnold's fault, and everyone called me crazy. But last night, Dan Mullins actually got to use him. He got to run around. He got to throw the ball. He did get sacked six times, you know. He was a statue at Auburn every year now. But Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: for the most part at Auburn, he could run around, but the schemes and everything were not good. He can't throw five-yard curl routes. Your coach finally told you get the ball out, you get a pick. He was in a terrible situation. So I'm glad he's over there with with Dan Mullins, and I'm so glad to see him succeed. He threw for almost 300 passing yards. Two passing touchdown, one rushing yard. And what I liked the most about Jackson Arnold, even at Auburn, he puts his entire heart into the game. He will give all his effort, do everything he can. And you know it's so good because he was getting death threats at Oklahoma and he was hurt. He came here and he got benched and he finally got to succeed at UNLV. And I am just so happy for him. Aaron: I am too. I really enjoyed watching him play. I love watching a quarterback who's playing like they got nothing to lose. And he was out there playing his heart out. Like every run felt like everything he had. He went hard. I completely agree. I think Dan Mullen really got out the strengths that Jackson Arnold had. I am gonna say he froze up a couple times, but it's hard to blame him when you had 14 and 15 on Memphis. crashing down like they were absolute monsters. I was excited to watch them beat the team I was rooting for because those guys were electric to watch as a as a duo. Chandler: Yeah, Memphis' defensive line had a field day. They were back there so much. Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: Absolutely. And I'm not gonna say UNLV's O line played poorly. I think you just there are certain people I I'm not gonna draw the comparison here, but I'm gonna say like when you got Aaron Donald on the team for the Rams, which you do again, congratulations. I'm sure there's plenty of O linemen in the NFL right now that are swearing and gonna have a nightmare tonight. But it is gonna be something that When you have that kind of guy, how you stop him? You got to triple, double team him. When you got two of in the Mountain West level that are coming in so hard, coming in so strong every play, Jackson Arnold was making good use of his legs on the plays that he could because that's about the option those two gave him, whereas to run it as far and as fast as he could away from those two. Ryan: Yeah, but I was so glad yeah, he used his legs, he ran around. When someone's open, he just put it right on the guy. You know, he looks so great. But Marcus Stokes looked really good too. I was disappointed in UNLV. Aaron: He really didn't. Ryan: Jaden Thomas didn't do as good as I think he could have. He went into that game averaging seven yards a rush. So maybe those D linemen were really just really that good, you know, just held him down. Aaron: I I I think because like I said, UNLV's O-line looked like they were playing well, the late game injury to their center, always devastating to lose your center. and credit to him, he got injured on a play where he's running downfield to make blocks. Sometimes that's all you want to see. You want to see the guys put in the effort, and Dan Mullins somehow got the recipe perfect, like he always has to get those kind of players that want to play ball and they kind of put aside whatever role or belief they have in the game and they just play the sport. And I love watching that. You got a quarterback going out there and lowering his shoulder on every run. You got linemen hustling down the field to make blocks. you know, 10, 20 yards downfield making blocks. You got wide receivers blocking. That's the thing that tells me a coach is getting a program together. That tells me a team is going to do well when you see that kind of effort. Ryan: Yeah, Jackson Arn was laying the boom on some guys. Also, I Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: thought it was funny they had Elvis in the intro. That was very interesting. Aaron: Thought that was I thought that was it's fun to see not only Jackson Arnold come back to life, it's fun to see Dan Mullen come back to life and also enjoying his tenure as head coach again. And yeah, Florida I think made the bungle of the decade by getting rid of him too early. I think they could have made great strides if they had given him more time. did the same thing for us when he was with us. and, you know, hey, Dan Mullen, if you ever want to come back. We get an opening for a head coach position, which we very well maybe in the next couple weeks. remember, we still love you over here in Mississippi State. Well, Minnesotas call it. And Ryan: Weeks. That's awfully soon, Aaron. I don't think you're giving her too much credit. Ugh. Aaron: that's gonna be a real decision point for us there, I think. But overall, electric game. Fun to watch. Congratulations, Memphis. They were fun to watch. I will keep an eye out on both like my fire for UNLV has not gone out after this. I still think give Dan Mullen time with this team. We're gonna see these things click. I think they're still in contention. They're gonna they're gonna play. We'll see them at Hawaii next week. see how that all turns out. But I'm still looking forward to every game. And some of the games that we didn't watch with depth coverage. Did want to shout out Hawaii's Stanford game. I thought that was a decent game. I thought that was fun. Hawaii still has some traction they're gonna have to go through. I thought their quarterback didn't look as good as he did at the end of last season. So we'll see if that's just a time off, needing to get his feet back under him, some confidence in him, see if that comes in. I will say my heart started pumping when they got to that drive for the game winning drive at the last two minutes. So I was like, man, I called this one. This is the prediction I'm gonna get right and if this happens, nothing else matters. And the fumble happened and I was like, that's what hubris gives you. it disappoints you and our loving rack fans out there to say not only yes, yes. Ryan: Did you say hubris? that's hubris. Start using that one instead of funny. Aaron: So yeah. Yeah, that that deflated me very quickly and I was like, that's the way it should have worked out, that I make a call like that and then it absolutely runs against me in a scoop and score. Ryan: Pretty hubris of them though. Aaron: Very hubris. Ryan: Yeah, but before that, yeah, the Jackson the Jackson on UNLV thing, I think that game actually didn't discourage me, but gave me a lot of hope for their program. They kind of came out and and did what I expect them to look really good. But Marcus Stokes, you know, I saw him in the grocery store at Publix one time. You know, I've gotten closer to him than most people in this country. So just putting that out there right away. Just putting that out there. Yeah. Aaron: I've maybe not his parents, his friends, a lot of kids he went to school with. but Ryan: Yeah. Aaron: I'll say you definitely rank in the top one hundred thousand people Ryan: I'm probably Yeah. Aaron: that have been closer to everybody in that publiks and you were tied, for how close they are. Ryan: Dude, I was real close. I was like self checkout and he like in the aisle right there. And my roommate though, Aaron: It's Ryan: he was probably actually closer to him than I was. Aaron: You attended the same school as him. Ryan: I saw him with my own eyes though, not on T V. In the wild. Aaron: That's more than I could say than of any of these quarterbacks this weekend. I haven't seen any of these quarterbacks with my own eyes, so you are the closest of us three. Ryan: Yeah, have you seen a wild Marcus Stokes? I've seen Jackson Aaron: I have not. And I Ryan: Arnold. Chandler: I've seen a while Jackson Arnold and Ashton Daniels. Ryan: Well, no, they were in they were not in the wild. They were in a stadium. They were in captivity. Aaron: In captivity So yeah. Yeah. Ryan: Come on, play football. Come on. Aaron: give me a treat. Two million dollars. Ryan: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Aaron: So did you guys have anything else from any of the games? Stanford Hawaii, other ones? I I was too busy with my fourteen hours of the games that we talked about, but I did keep track of that Hawaii score 'cause I was like, maybe that'll work out for me. It didn't. we'll see them play again next week with UNL V. And we're excited, I think Ryan: Ha ha. Aaron: we've got Ohio State going on in the background. Ryan: I do have one more. I do have one more. We watched the Jackson State in the North Dakota State game, and there was a guy chirping us in the TikTok comments for some reason, and North Dakota State beat them in your face. Aaron: I is that because we named the wrong school? Ryan: Yeah, I said, Hey Chandler, is this like the Jackson Chiller said Jackson State? And I said, like the Jackson State of Prime? He goes, Yeah. Aaron: Okay. Ryan: I realized it was Jacksonville State and not Jacksonville, Florida. Jacksonville, Alabama, by the way. And there was a guy chirping us about, Y'all don't even know what you're Aaron: Well we We missed. Ryan: talking about. That's not prime time. We're a good football program. We be FSU. And there's people in the comments saying like FSU was terrible. They left to go to S FCS school that year. But it was them. It is so funny. Aaron: So yeah, sorry to all the Jackson State fans out there that we referred to your program as Jacksonville. Yeah, we're gonna do that again, I'm sure. Like that's not the Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: last time we make that error. But yes, yeah, we did we we missed that one. That was a little fumble there. Ryan: It was very funny. It was very funny. I was talking about Coach Prime. It's so good. It's so good. But they still lost in your face. I'm Aaron: Ha ha Ryan: just kidding. No, but this will be fun. This will probably be the last episode before me when Chandler are talking about Mississippi State, Auburn and Ohio State for twenty five of the thirty five minutes. Chandler: Not probably. We'll be. Aaron: That will be. That will be the case. Chandler: There's no games on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday that we're gonna be talking Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: about. Aaron: Yeah, so Wednesday, I will say we'll have a bonus LSU Clemson discussion to have next week on our pregame show. But we will be talking about Mississippi State, we'll be talking about Ohio State, we'll be talking about Auburn and Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: way more than we should, but not as much time as we will spend watching them that Saturday. So tune in for our Thursday program. you'll hear about what games we're watching. I Pretty much laid it out, but we'll have that solidified for Thursday, give our predictions, our line runs, everything about it, and you'll see the life slowly drain out of my eyes each week as we cover the results of the Mississippi State games. Yep, yeah. And just a husk of a man Chandler: Week six, it's just gonna be Ryan and I as the hosts. Ryan: Mm. Aaron: laying here in his chair. but yes, that will be our normal Thursday release now for predictions. next Monday you'll hear the results of that. So tune in for both of those. We did want to take a moment here at the end of the episode to bring some news. We decided to leave it out of the news segment. It is a tragedy from this weekend that we had a player pass from activities on the field. And so Our hearts go out to William Jewel College, and specifically it was Mika Joe Barnett that passed away after shortly after scoring a touchdown. So to his friends, to his family, to his teammates, to those that knew him, we are sorry for your loss. It's a tragedy in this sport. It always hurts when we have a player pass away at any point for any reason. So We just wanted to extend that moment and say, you know, our hearts go out there as fans, no matter which team, no matter where you're at in this sport, I think we can all extend that out there and hope for the best for everybody impacted by this and the tragedy that it is. So Will I I this will probably be the last time we talk about it. We're not gonna fill this in with news or speculation on what caused the death or anything like that. I th think that's something best left to professionals and to the family member that want it disclosed. So anything beyond that, we just wanted to say Arkendol. But other than that, an another emotion we get to express out here is a thank you to all the fans out here that have engaged with the New Thursday episode. That has been wonderful. the one from this Friday, the clips, everything like that has gone so great. even when we get the names of the schools incorrect in our predictions, y'all still showed up for it. So it was very nice to see that I missed everything and I was incorrect about every part of this sport. So I look forward to doing it again this week. To those that are reviewing the show, commenting, engaging, following us on social media, once again thank you. That means so much. It's going it's growing so fast. It's so nice to see. So once again, a heartfelt thank you. And we'll see ya on Thursday. Ryan: Bye bye.
