- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:07Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:11Speaker 1: Kate Torber and we have a special episode for you.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I'm joined by Amy. Yeah, I'm excited because we are
- 0:16Speaker 1: going to be recapping some of the big stories that
- 0:18Speaker 1: have happened over the Christmas period. Yeah, so it's a
- 0:21Speaker 1: little bit more of a relaxed episode today. We have
- 0:24Speaker 1: just been eating some chocolate. We're trying to get hyped
- 0:26Speaker 1: up because we were originally going to record something a
- 0:29Speaker 1: little bit different, but there have been some stories that
- 0:31Speaker 1: we just want to chat about Very casually. Well, the
- 0:34Speaker 1: biggest story so far, and it's just dropped within the
- 0:37Speaker 1: last couple of minutes, is about Olivia Rogers' ex-husband, Justin McKeon. Yeah,
- 0:42Speaker 1: because there were great concerns about his whereabouts because he
- 0:46Speaker 1: didn't appear in court and he is facing allegations of
- 0:50Speaker 1: stealing almost half a million dollars from his employer, well,
- 0:54Speaker 1: his former employer. Yeah, so this is when he was
- 0:55Speaker 1: the head of finance at Rocket Brands. We spoke about this,
- 0:59Speaker 1: I think it was two weeks ago now, so we
- 1:01Speaker 1: will link the episode in the show notes below if
- 1:03Speaker 1: you want some more details about this. Yeah, so the
- 1:05Speaker 1: big news is that he has moved home to Western
- 1:08Speaker 1: Australia and it also appears that he is still dating
- 1:12Speaker 1: Bachelor contestant Tani Leeson. Yeah, and they've had a very on-again,
- 1:16Speaker 1: off-again relationship. think a lot of people assumed that when
- 1:19Speaker 1: these allegations came out about Justin that they were not
- 1:23Speaker 1: together but Tani on the 20th of December put out
- 1:26Speaker 1: a photo dump and there are two photos of her
- 1:29Speaker 1: with Justin she is very much telling the world no
- 1:32Speaker 1: we are still together yeah I was so shocked by
- 1:35Speaker 1: this and also In one of the photos of her
- 1:38Speaker 1: and Justin, Khan Ong is in it and they're at
- 1:40Speaker 1: what appears to be some sort of influencer event. Well,
- 1:43Speaker 1: Tani's photos appear to be part of her December photo dump.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It's unclear exactly when the photos of Justin were taken.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I actually think these pictures speak volumes because while Justin
- 1:53Speaker 1: has deactivated his own Instagram account, he's clearly said to
- 1:57Speaker 1: Tani that he doesn't mind appearing on hers. And the
- 2:00Speaker 1: optics for him are not good. He's at some very
- 2:02Speaker 1: fancy event. He's dressed up in a suit looking very
- 2:05Speaker 1: glamorous with his girlfriend. And he's also just enlisted this
- 2:09Speaker 1: apparent powerhouse legal firm. It's the same firm that's representing
- 2:13Speaker 1: the man accused of murdering Ballarat mum, Samantha Murphy. So
- 2:17Speaker 1: I think he's going to be fighting these allegations big time. Well,
- 2:19Speaker 1: I think this is going to be one of the
- 2:20Speaker 1: biggest influencer stories of 2025. I just had a light
- 2:23Speaker 1: bulb moment because I was scrolling TikTok yesterday and I
- 2:26Speaker 1: came across this video that Natasha Thomas shared. So her
- 2:30Speaker 1: husband is footballer Dale Thomas and They're both friends with
- 2:33Speaker 1: Olivia Rogers. Former footballer. Yeah. And the caption said, feeling
- 2:38Speaker 1: back to life after a feral gossip session. And I
- 2:41Speaker 1: realized that Olivia Rogers was in the corner and her
- 2:44Speaker 1: and Natasha were gossiping. Well, there were a lot of
- 2:46Speaker 1: rumors that Natasha could be celeb spellcheck, unconfirmed rumors. Wouldn't
- 2:50Speaker 1: that be amazing? Yeah. But surely they were gossiping about
- 2:55Speaker 1: Justin and also Tani. Yeah. Well, the timing is correct.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I mean, it was the 20th of December that these
- 3:01Speaker 1: photos went up. Wouldn't you love to have been a
- 3:03Speaker 1: fly on the wall? Yeah. Another massive story that has
- 3:06Speaker 1: been developing over the Christmas period has to do with
- 3:09Speaker 1: Georgia Love and Lee Elliott. So this is a sad one.
- 3:13Speaker 1: There's been a lot of speculation that she has broken
- 3:15Speaker 1: up with her husband, Lee Elliott. That has been going
- 3:17Speaker 1: on for months because suddenly they're not appearing on each
- 3:20Speaker 1: other's socials. And they've been spotted not wearing their wedding rings.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Sometimes they have them on and sometimes they don't. I
- 3:25Speaker 1: think the last social post that Leigh and Georgia were
- 3:28Speaker 1: in together was late September. So that is a long time.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And if you look at their social media activity over
- 3:34Speaker 1: the Christmas break and compare it to last year, it
- 3:37Speaker 1: is polar opposites. Well, they were literally never at the
- 3:41Speaker 1: same event. Like they had friendmas separately. They weren't together
- 3:44Speaker 1: on Christmas day. I mean, Georgia Love went quiet on
- 3:47Speaker 1: Christmas Day and then Lee was posting all his family's
- 3:50Speaker 1: house and it was clear that she wasn't there. Well,
- 3:52Speaker 1: what's kind of awkward is I went back to have
- 3:54Speaker 1: a look at what Georgia posted last year on Christmas
- 3:57Speaker 1: and it was a photo of her and Lee and
- 3:59Speaker 1: Lee's niece. And it was in the exact same spot
- 4:03Speaker 1: of where Lee took his photo this year with his niece.
- 4:06Speaker 1: It's got the same Christmas tree, all the presents and everything,
- 4:08Speaker 1: but there's no Georgia. I mean, it seems quite clear
- 4:11Speaker 1: that he's dropping a lot of clues because He's the
- 4:13Speaker 1: one that's not wearing his ring in all of his photos,
- 4:16Speaker 1: whereas George's ring has been on and off. I mean,
- 4:19Speaker 1: the fact that she's gone to New York to meet
- 4:21Speaker 1: up with her best friend without Lee, I mean, if
- 4:24Speaker 1: that's not a sign. Well, there's been so much speculation
- 4:27Speaker 1: from followers. A lot of people have been commenting on
- 4:29Speaker 1: George's recent post in New York saying, well, where is Lee? Yeah,
- 4:33Speaker 1: they haven't officially addressed these rumors on their Instagram stories.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I mean, you think that if it wasn't true, they
- 4:38Speaker 1: might jump on together and say, hey, just to clear
- 4:40Speaker 1: things up, we're together. I mean, Georgia has replied to
- 4:44Speaker 1: one comment. So someone said they went separate ways in
- 4:47Speaker 1: September and she responded, we didn't actually. Best to stop speculating,
- 4:51Speaker 1: least of all on my own page. If I had
- 4:53Speaker 1: anything to tell you all, I would do so myself.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I mean... That is kind of her hosing down the rumors.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I just think that's her saying that they didn't break
- 5:01Speaker 1: up in September, but not saying we haven't broken up
- 5:03Speaker 1: at all. Because I mean, it's so obvious that they have,
- 5:06Speaker 1: or it's so obvious that something big is going on.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Something's obviously going on. The big telltale sign will be
- 5:11Speaker 1: on their anniversary. So that's the 5th of March. They
- 5:15Speaker 1: got married in 2021. Will they put up a photo
- 5:18Speaker 1: to celebrate it? Or will they have to announce that
- 5:20Speaker 1: maybe they've split up? Well, I just think they clearly
- 5:22Speaker 1: have split up, but they just need some time for
- 5:25Speaker 1: themselves and they don't want to come out and announce
- 5:27Speaker 1: it just now. Well, when I was looking into this,
- 5:29Speaker 1: I noticed that Georgia Love appeared on a podcast episode
- 5:32Speaker 1: on the 12th of December, and it was all about
- 5:34Speaker 1: her experience on The Bachelor. And she was talking very
- 5:37Speaker 1: lovingly about Lee, that they were still together. A bit strange.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I mean, I think the podcast was pre-recorded. Of course
- 5:45Speaker 1: it was. But it's a bit strange to have this
- 5:46Speaker 1: content out there. Yeah, but if they're keeping it under
- 5:49Speaker 1: wraps that they've broken up, she's hardly going to reach
- 5:51Speaker 1: out to this podcaster and be like, oh, could you
- 5:53Speaker 1: actually not put that out? I definitely think they have
- 5:56Speaker 1: broken up. I think it's really sad because I love
- 5:58Speaker 1: them together. Now, talking about sad breakups, we have to
- 6:03Speaker 1: talk about Molly Mae's Christmas Eve vlog because I loved
- 6:07Speaker 1: the five videos she put out over December she tried
- 6:10Speaker 1: to do vlogmas but she was pretty realistic and said
- 6:12Speaker 1: look I don't have time to do it every day
- 6:14Speaker 1: but I'll do as much as I can and I
- 6:16Speaker 1: appreciate it yeah I appreciate it I think sometimes when
- 6:18Speaker 1: people do the full 25 days it's actually too much
- 6:22Speaker 1: if you've got a life to keep up on like
- 6:23Speaker 1: I was actually just thought five is the perfect amount
- 6:27Speaker 1: to watch over December. But they get really boring as well.
- 6:30Speaker 1: And they're not really Christmas related. Like I don't want
- 6:33Speaker 1: to see someone opening an advent calendar for a whole video.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Like that doesn't interest me. Anyway, this video was really
- 6:40Speaker 1: interesting because Molly said that she had had a little
- 6:43Speaker 1: bit of a break between vlog number four and five,
- 6:45Speaker 1: because she was actually feeling really sad over the Christmas period.
- 6:49Speaker 1: And She didn't exactly say why, but from reading between
- 6:53Speaker 1: the lines, it's because she's obviously not with Tommy. And
- 6:56Speaker 1: I think for a lot of people who have experienced
- 6:58Speaker 1: a breakup close to Christmas, that's when things get really
- 7:02Speaker 1: tough because you're thinking about what you were doing with
- 7:04Speaker 1: them last year. It makes you feel very lonely. Yeah.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I wonder if she's also a bit nervous because her
- 7:09Speaker 1: new documentary is coming out as well. And maybe that's
- 7:12Speaker 1: making her a bit anxious because she's going over a
- 7:14Speaker 1: lot of stuff about Tommy in it. I felt so
- 7:17Speaker 1: sorry for her as well because she was talking about
- 7:19Speaker 1: these paparazzi photos that had come out of her and
- 7:22Speaker 1: Tommy and they had taken their daughter Bambi to a
- 7:25Speaker 1: soft play center together and rather than focusing on the
- 7:29Speaker 1: fact of like oh wow they Tommy and Molly were
- 7:32Speaker 1: spotted out together. Co-parenting. Yeah co-parenting all people could talk
- 7:36Speaker 1: about was what Molly looked like and she said someone
- 7:39Speaker 1: had commented that who was Molly Mae Eaton. I actually
- 7:42Speaker 1: can't believe anyone would say that. It was on TikTok though,
- 7:44Speaker 1: where the most vile people comment, the most hateful stuff.
- 7:48Speaker 1: See the video popped up on my TikTok and I
- 7:50Speaker 1: was reading the comments are getting so angry and upset
- 7:53Speaker 1: for Molly. I'm like, how could they talk about her
- 7:54Speaker 1: like that? And for her to then talk about the
- 7:57Speaker 1: moment that she saw the video and how her stomach
- 8:00Speaker 1: dropped and she'd been in a really low place and
- 8:02Speaker 1: to even vocalize those hideous comments. Well, you never think
- 8:05Speaker 1: that the people actually, like you always think, oh, she's
- 8:07Speaker 1: too big to even have seen what people have said
- 8:10Speaker 1: about her, but you realize that she's just a real person.
- 8:12Speaker 1: One thing that she's made really clear is that her
- 8:14Speaker 1: and Tommy are being really amicable when it comes to co-parenting.
- 8:17Speaker 1: So she spoke about how Tommy had dropped around dressed
- 8:20Speaker 1: as Santa and that Bambi had almost instantly recognized him
- 8:25Speaker 1: just based on his eyes. Yeah, because there are so
- 8:28Speaker 1: many parents who do like to dress up as a,
- 8:31Speaker 1: I mean, if any little ears are listening, Santa is true,
- 8:33Speaker 1: but sometimes parents like to dress up as him to
- 8:35Speaker 1: get a fun family photo. To be fair, he's got
- 8:38Speaker 1: some beautiful blue eyes, so maybe they're pretty recognisable. I
- 8:41Speaker 1: just found it funny seeing Tommy's Instagram stories in the
- 8:44Speaker 1: lead up to Christmas, because you can tell that they
- 8:47Speaker 1: both love to decorate the house for Christmas. Like he
- 8:49Speaker 1: still had all these beautiful decorations up, but they just
- 8:52Speaker 1: weren't quite as nice as Molly's. His Christmas day lunch
- 8:55Speaker 1: looked a bit depressing. Like you could tell it was
- 8:56Speaker 1: at the Fury's house. It just, It wasn't as aesthetically
- 9:00Speaker 1: pleasing as I'm sure Molly Mae's lunch was. I hope
- 9:02Speaker 1: she vlogged her Christmas. She said she was going to
- 9:05Speaker 1: do it. So I think she will. Amy, I had
- 9:08Speaker 1: a vulnerability hangover for Christy Swadling and her partner, Joel,
- 9:12Speaker 1: on Boxing Day. Yeah, you kept showing me these videos.
- 9:15Speaker 1: And to be honest, I didn't even recognize either of them. Oh,
- 9:18Speaker 1: my God. It was so embarrassing. Like, I know who
- 9:20Speaker 1: Christy Swadling is, but she has changed so much since
- 9:23Speaker 1: I watched her YouTubes, what, like four years ago. I
- 9:25Speaker 1: know who she is. Yeah. Yeah. And she and her
- 9:28Speaker 1: partner are expecting a baby, which is very exciting. Yeah,
- 9:31Speaker 1: they announced it with those gravestone mirrors. Yeah. And it
- 9:35Speaker 1: seems like her partner was letting his hair down on
- 9:37Speaker 1: his last Christmas before having a newborn because, my God,
- 9:41Speaker 1: I think I just need to throw to some of it.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Are you going to bed? I'm so proud of you. No.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I'm going to bed with you. What? Babe, stop it. Okay,
- 9:52Speaker 1: let's go to bed. No more. Okay. Can I have
- 9:56Speaker 1: a kiss? Thank you. go to sleep. No, you should sleep.
- 10:16Speaker 1: You're going to leave? Why? I'll go home. You'll go home?
- 10:26Speaker 1: What are you doing? Were these posted in real time
- 10:44Speaker 1: or were these posted after? Real time. When I looked,
- 10:47Speaker 1: they'd been up for like 19 hours. I'm like, how
- 10:49Speaker 1: have these not been deleted? Because he told her to
- 10:52Speaker 1: fuck off and get the camera out of her face
- 10:53Speaker 1: and she found it hilarious. But I'm like, once you've
- 10:56Speaker 1: woken up and watched them, I would have been like,
- 10:59Speaker 1: I need to delete this. It reminds me of this
- 11:01Speaker 1: TikTok I saw earlier today. It was this TikToker who
- 11:04Speaker 1: was filming an ad and her boyfriend interrupted it because
- 11:07Speaker 1: he played aloud an Instagram story and her immediate reaction,
- 11:11Speaker 1: like she was like, oi, see, are you for real?
- 11:14Speaker 1: And it was like, it was hilarious. But I was like,
- 11:17Speaker 1: I can't believe she's sharing this because she came across
- 11:20Speaker 1: as such a dickhead. And the guy was like, I'm
- 11:22Speaker 1: so sorry. Like I accidentally clicked on this. You say that,
- 11:26Speaker 1: but then I just have a flashback to all the
- 11:28Speaker 1: videos of us fighting during the podcast recordings. It just
- 11:32Speaker 1: made her look so fake though, because she had this
- 11:35Speaker 1: huge smile one minute for TikTok. And then it's like, Oi,
- 11:38Speaker 1: like she's calling her boyfriend to see. She really pulled
- 11:40Speaker 1: down the mask on that one. Yeah. Now, Rachel Finch
- 11:43Speaker 1: has blocked us from Instagram. So I'm going via the
- 11:46Speaker 1: Daily Mail for this one. It's devastating because that was
- 11:48Speaker 1: after a topic we did on her and her child's
- 11:51Speaker 1: cross-country race where she was running behind a child trying
- 11:54Speaker 1: to motivate her. Yeah. Well, it's exercise related because according
- 11:58Speaker 1: to the Daily Mail, Rachel Finch forced her children to
- 12:01Speaker 1: exercise on Christmas morning. How did she force them? Well,
- 12:04Speaker 1: there's videos of them working out in the morning quite
- 12:07Speaker 1: vigorously and it's off the back of people questioning just
- 12:11Speaker 1: how tough she and her husband have been training her
- 12:14Speaker 1: kids in tennis. It does seem odd. I mean, I
- 12:17Speaker 1: can't remember any Christmas day I've gone out as a
- 12:19Speaker 1: child and exercised before going to Christmas lunch. Yeah, particularly
- 12:23Speaker 1: because it just seems linked to, oh, this is going
- 12:25Speaker 1: to be a day where we indulge. So you've got
- 12:27Speaker 1: to work out beforehand. I don't like that. Yeah, I
- 12:29Speaker 1: don't like it either. I mean, I'm all for parents
- 12:31Speaker 1: actually feeding their kids healthy food and setting the right example.
- 12:36Speaker 1: But that just seems bizarre. But Christmas Day is a
- 12:39Speaker 1: day of indulging and enjoying yourself. Like you don't have
- 12:42Speaker 1: to do a bloody workout. And I could already imagine
- 12:44Speaker 1: what would have been on their table at lunch. It
- 12:46Speaker 1: would have been like prawns and salads and all that
- 12:48Speaker 1: kind of stuff. Yeah, a bit of lobster. What always
- 12:52Speaker 1: cracks me up on social media is just how quickly
- 12:55Speaker 1: people get out of the Christmas cheer and the mood
- 12:59Speaker 1: because my TikTok on Boxing Day– was people packing up
- 13:02Speaker 1: their Christmas tree. Yes, I've never seen that in previous years.
- 13:05Speaker 1: That seems to be a big trend of Christmas 2024.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Like all of these, you know, those, you got me
- 13:10Speaker 1: to follow that mum's group on Facebook. Everyone was like
- 13:13Speaker 1: literally ready to burn their Christmas trees down. I mean,
- 13:16Speaker 1: these were the most joy-filled people in the lead up
- 13:19Speaker 1: to Christmas and now they're fucking over it probably because
- 13:21Speaker 1: they've had their tree up since October. Yeah, I saw
- 13:23Speaker 1: Emily Hembrough had already packed hers down. But I think
- 13:25Speaker 1: the issue is that people are putting them up too
- 13:28Speaker 1: early and And I put mine up quite early. Like, well,
- 13:32Speaker 1: I mean, it was late November. Some people put theirs
- 13:34Speaker 1: up in like late October. Yeah. So I can understand
- 13:37Speaker 1: that because even I was like, I kind of want
- 13:40Speaker 1: to pack away the decorations, not the tree, but the
- 13:43Speaker 1: other ones are just cluttering up the space. I saw
- 13:46Speaker 1: Sarah's day. She had a massive organizational day on Boxing Day.
- 13:50Speaker 1: She was like packing up all of her son's toys
- 13:52Speaker 1: and organizing them. I'm just waiting for that motivation because
- 13:56Speaker 1: on Boxing Day, I was just, well, I obviously had
- 13:59Speaker 1: to look after Jack, but apart from doing his feeds
- 14:02Speaker 1: and all of that, I was exhausted just lying around.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Oh my God. I have been so exhausted. I don't
- 14:07Speaker 1: know if it's because I'm 24 weeks pregnant or the
- 14:10Speaker 1: fact that we will at my house, we hosted the
- 14:12Speaker 1: white party. We hosted Christmas dinner. Then we had boxing
- 14:16Speaker 1: day dinner. I couldn't move on the 27th. Like I
- 14:19Speaker 1: felt so bad. I came over to your house and
- 14:21Speaker 1: you were kindly making us waffles and lying a comatose
- 14:25Speaker 1: on the floor. I was in and out of sleep.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Like your dogs kept barking. I was like, where are you?
- 14:29Speaker 1: I know you were like, shut up. There was another
- 14:33Speaker 1: debate raging on TikTok and it involved opening presents. So
- 14:36Speaker 1: I've never really thought about it before, but apparently your
- 14:39Speaker 1: family falls into one category. So either you're the type
- 14:43Speaker 1: of family who gives one person a gift and you
- 14:47Speaker 1: all watch the person open it and then move on
- 14:49Speaker 1: to the next one. or you open them all together. Well,
- 14:53Speaker 1: our family falls into the category of opening them individually.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So everyone does what? Yeah. And I think that kind
- 14:58Speaker 1: of shows how you view presents, that you really enjoy
- 15:02Speaker 1: actually picking out a gift for someone because you want
- 15:04Speaker 1: to see their reaction when they open it. But also-
- 15:07Speaker 1: If you're a child, normally the parents will wait for
- 15:10Speaker 1: their kids to open their presents because you want to
- 15:12Speaker 1: see their reactions. Like if everyone's just opening their presents
- 15:14Speaker 1: at once, you've got no idea what people's got. You've
- 15:16Speaker 1: got no idea who gave you what. As kids though,
- 15:19Speaker 1: it's not like we were like, oh, Amy, you can
- 15:21Speaker 1: open all your Santa sack first. Yeah. So if you
- 15:23Speaker 1: like you, we did it all at once, but mom
- 15:24Speaker 1: would be like, hang on, wait, that present is the
- 15:27Speaker 1: same open all at once. But I think when you
- 15:29Speaker 1: become adults and you've actually put a lot of thought
- 15:32Speaker 1: and time into getting presents, someone the gift you do
- 15:34Speaker 1: want to see what their reaction is and that makes
- 15:36Speaker 1: it difficult because then you feel like you have to
- 15:39Speaker 1: give an adequate reaction when you open the gift and
- 15:42Speaker 1: it seems very performative yeah it does it does feel
- 15:45Speaker 1: very awkward did you see anastasia king's north christmas day
- 15:49Speaker 1: vlog i saw a viral bit of it that was
- 15:52Speaker 1: going around tiktok when they opened their christmas eve boxes
- 15:57Speaker 1: and her brother atticus who's i think he's like nine
- 15:59Speaker 1: or ten he could not hide the fact that he
- 16:02Speaker 1: was extremely disappointed because his mum had bought him a
- 16:05Speaker 1: Christmas mug and the handle had come off. The comments
- 16:09Speaker 1: on that video were vile. Oh, they were awful. This
- 16:12Speaker 1: is a 10-year-old boy and I don't even want to
- 16:14Speaker 1: repeat what people were saying. It actually got so bad
- 16:17Speaker 1: that Anastasia Kingsnorth had to comment on the video and
- 16:20Speaker 1: remind people of her brother's age. They were commenting on
- 16:24Speaker 1: his sexuality. They were commenting on whether he had certain
- 16:28Speaker 1: mental illnesses, like it was absolutely disgusting. But a lot
- 16:31Speaker 1: of people were saying, well, you put him out there
- 16:33Speaker 1: for people to comment on. I can see that side
- 16:36Speaker 1: of it, particularly when she is monetizing these videos and
- 16:39Speaker 1: earning a lot of money off them. But she's like
- 16:42Speaker 1: one of the nicest influencers, I have to say. She is,
- 16:45Speaker 1: but I mean, maybe edit it a little bit. But again-
- 16:48Speaker 1: Maybe she just is like, oh, that's just him. I
- 16:51Speaker 1: think it's because Atticus is quite well-known and popular in
- 16:54Speaker 1: her vlogs for saying these hilarious things that only a
- 16:56Speaker 1: little brother would say. Yeah, and she probably chose to
- 16:59Speaker 1: put it on YouTube because that's a safe platform for her.
- 17:01Speaker 1: But I have heard her and Saffron Barker talk about
- 17:03Speaker 1: how everyone now goes through their vlogs and takes snippets
- 17:07Speaker 1: of what they've said and takes them completely out of
- 17:10Speaker 1: context and re-uploads them onto TikTok. And then that person
- 17:13Speaker 1: gets TikTok views and engagement from it. And they're not
- 17:16Speaker 1: even posting, it's not them even posting the content. And
- 17:18Speaker 1: then they can't really control the commentary. Like they can't
- 17:21Speaker 1: turn comments off or, you know, report people. I think
- 17:24Speaker 1: it just highlights what a vile place TikTok is though.
- 17:26Speaker 1: It really does. And also the nature of the videos,
- 17:28Speaker 1: because they're so short, it sometimes doesn't allow for context.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I mean, most people, like if you had a 10
- 17:34Speaker 1: year old brother, they probably would be upset if their
- 17:37Speaker 1: mum gave them a mug and it was broken. That's
- 17:40Speaker 1: the issue though, because in terms of consent and children
- 17:43Speaker 1: appearing online, like he might be happy to appear on
- 17:46Speaker 1: videos now but you know in in six years time
- 17:49Speaker 1: when he's 16 he might not be wanting these clips
- 17:53Speaker 1: of him having a little tantrum when he was a
- 17:56Speaker 1: kid online well I think they view it as a
- 17:58Speaker 1: positive because someone like Anastasia Kingsnell so people who don't
- 18:01Speaker 1: follow her she has gone from You know, her mum
- 18:04Speaker 1: is a single mum and they've always struggled. And it's
- 18:07Speaker 1: only now that Anna's made it big on YouTube that
- 18:09Speaker 1: she's been able to surprise her family with vacations away
- 18:12Speaker 1: and a lot of beautiful Christmas presents. So I think
- 18:15Speaker 1: a lot of people are speculating, oh, well, now her
- 18:18Speaker 1: brother's a brat because he's grown up with Anastasia providing
- 18:21Speaker 1: so much for the family. But I just don't think
- 18:23Speaker 1: that's the case at all. I just think it's most
- 18:26Speaker 1: 10-year-olds would get cranky over a broken Christmas present. Well,
- 18:29Speaker 1: before we go, it is New Year's Eve today. Yes.
- 18:32Speaker 1: There was a little bit of a disagreement between Amy
- 18:34Speaker 1: Soap and I about what was happening New Year's Eve. Well,
- 18:37Speaker 1: there were a few wires crossed, weren't there? Because normally,
- 18:40Speaker 1: I think the last couple of years, you guys have
- 18:41Speaker 1: come over to Dale and my house and we've had
- 18:44Speaker 1: a very impromptu New Year's Eve gathering with some friends. Well,
- 18:48Speaker 1: you're kind of like the party house because you have
- 18:50Speaker 1: a really nice outdoor entertaining area and you love hosting things.
- 18:54Speaker 1: And we just assumed that you wanted to host New
- 18:57Speaker 1: Year's Eve. So I think one of our friends actually said, oh,
- 19:00Speaker 1: I suppose I'll see you New Year's Eve. And then
- 19:02Speaker 1: that sparked a couple of Dale's friends being like, oh yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 1: we'll come. And then you dropped a bomb on us
- 19:06Speaker 1: and said that you actually had other plans for New
- 19:08Speaker 1: Year's Eve and you weren't going to be hosting your party.
- 19:10Speaker 1: And I was like, well, what am I going to do? Yeah.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Now Sophie's going to the cricket, but basically I think
- 19:16Speaker 1: we are still doing something for New Year's Eve with
- 19:19Speaker 1: each other. So we're going to go out for dinner
- 19:21Speaker 1: tonight and I think everyone's going to come back here. Well,
- 19:23Speaker 1: those that haven't made new New Year's Eve plans. Well,
- 19:27Speaker 1: that was the kind of funny thing because Sophie thought
- 19:30Speaker 1: that you didn't have your party on and we had
- 19:32Speaker 1: had a private conversation about, oh, why don't we just
- 19:34Speaker 1: do something small at my house or your house? We'll
- 19:36Speaker 1: do maybe some board games and a cheese platter. That
- 19:39Speaker 1: sounds so boring though, by the way. I love it.
- 19:41Speaker 1: But suddenly she was like, oh, Kate, you're on your own.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I'm going to the cricket with Brandon. And I was like, what? Like, firstly,
- 19:47Speaker 1: you hate the cricket. And I'm like, what am I
- 19:49Speaker 1: meant to do? to do even though I hate the
- 19:51Speaker 1: cricket I feel like there's a bit of a vibe
- 19:52Speaker 1: to it remember that year we went to the movies
- 19:55Speaker 1: that was a lot I thought you're gonna say remember
- 19:56Speaker 1: that year where Sophie for some reason decided that we
- 19:59Speaker 1: should all go to the cricket and then she booked tickets.
- 20:02Speaker 1: All the scam tickets. What is it? Viagogo or something.
- 20:05Speaker 1: And not only do we then have no plans, but
- 20:09Speaker 1: she was robbed. Yeah. That's when we went to the movies. Look,
- 20:12Speaker 1: that wasn't actually that bad. That was a terrible New
- 20:14Speaker 1: Year's Eve. The thing with New Year's Eve is it's
- 20:16Speaker 1: always shit. I actually think one of the best New
- 20:18Speaker 1: Year's Eves was last year. Yeah. That's why I was
- 20:21Speaker 1: sad because I always have a good time at your
- 20:23Speaker 1: house New Year's Eve. Don't stress. We're doing it. Well,
- 20:25Speaker 1: yesterday Dale and I were shopping and And he snuck
- 20:28Speaker 1: in about 300 sparklers. I don't know what he's thinking.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I don't know how many people he thinks are coming
- 20:33Speaker 1: over for New Year's because it's not many. We were
- 20:36Speaker 1: rehashing the guest list and we're like, hang on, have
- 20:37Speaker 1: we actually invited anyone or is it just me and
- 20:39Speaker 1: Rose coming with Jack? Well, we all hope you have
- 20:42Speaker 1: an amazing New Year's Eve and we will be back
- 20:45Speaker 1: in your ears on January 2nd. God, these days are
- 20:48Speaker 1: just all melding in together. I know, it's so weird.
- 20:50Speaker 1: We're recording this on a Sunday. It's bizarre. So on Thursday,
- 20:54Speaker 1: we have a special episode for you where we are
- 20:56Speaker 1: going to be going through our 2024 predictions and then
- 20:59Speaker 1: making new ones up for 2025. These are, of course,
- 21:02Speaker 1: influencer predictions. Yes. And we will be back to our
- 21:05Speaker 1: regular programming next week. If you love the podcast, We
- 21:08Speaker 1: would really appreciate if you could help us out by
- 21:10Speaker 1: leaving us a five-star review. This episode was recorded on
- 21:14Speaker 1: the traditional land of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains.
- 21:17Speaker 1: We pay respect to elders past and present.
