- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to The Favorites, the podcast presented by BET three
- 0:12Speaker 1: sixty five. We are part of the Action Network. I
- 0:14Speaker 1: am Chad Millman, Chief Content the officer of the Action Network.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Today is a very special episode for three reasons. We
- 0:22Speaker 1: have a special topic close to my heart. We have
- 0:25Speaker 1: a special guest, one of my favorite voices in Chicago sports,
- 0:30Speaker 1: one of the few people whose job I wish I had,
- 0:33Speaker 1: and hot off the presses. This is news. As I'm
- 0:36Speaker 1: reading this right now, Matt Mitchell informs me, this is
- 0:41Speaker 1: our five hundredth episode of The Favorites podcast. Look at us,
- 0:49Speaker 1: Look what we've done this week. On the show, we're
- 0:53Speaker 1: talking at twenty twenty four NFL first impressions post draft.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Continuing the conversation Tuesday, we played pass or play for
- 1:00Speaker 1: every team across the AFC. Today will do the same
- 1:03Speaker 1: for every team in the NFC with Danny Parkins, a
- 1:07Speaker 1: brilliant sports radio host at six seventy The Score in Chicago.
- 1:12Speaker 1: If you don't know Danny, no joke. I say this
- 1:15Speaker 1: with all seriousness to me. He is in line with
- 1:18Speaker 1: Colin Coward Nick Wright amongst the best sports radio voices
- 1:22Speaker 1: in the country. He is also the author of a
- 1:25Speaker 1: new book, a hard book, not one of those easy books.
- 1:28Speaker 1: The author of a new book will discuss in just
- 1:31Speaker 1: a moment, of course. Joining me on our five hundredth
- 1:34Speaker 1: episode as always, my co host, my companion, Michel Padre,
- 1:38Speaker 1: my BFF professional better Sigmon Hunter. Hello, So I am
- 1:42Speaker 1: in se I.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Wish I would have known I brought out the Little
- 1:45Speaker 2: Poppers let's start shooting things off Papa Bottle.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Maybe, but I had no idea until I saw it
- 1:50Speaker 1: in the script when Matt Mitchell put her in there. Dude,
- 1:53Speaker 1: five hundred episodes, that is no fucking joke.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Yes, especially the fact that this is usually live and
- 1:59Speaker 2: I have yet to get fired. So this is pretty amazing.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Run boys, also amazing a lot of people. A lot
- 2:06Speaker 1: of podcasts don't make it to five hundred episodes. A
- 2:08Speaker 1: lot of pop podcasts don't even get five hundred listeners,
- 2:10Speaker 1: So good for us. I'm glad we have Danny and
- 2:12Speaker 1: the Shutter. I'm going to bring them on in a second,
- 2:14Speaker 1: because last night, Simon, I was at the Knixt game
- 2:17Speaker 1: and look, MSG, I had Jylen Brunson under thirty seven
- 2:21Speaker 1: and a half points, by the way, and thank god
- 2:23Speaker 1: he missed the entire second quarter. Otherwise he would have
- 2:25Speaker 1: crushed it. I got to hand it to MSG when MSG,
- 2:29Speaker 1: when the Knicks are truly good, MSG is electric. It
- 2:33Speaker 1: is everything that is great about in New York, with
- 2:35Speaker 1: all the citizen re coming together, and there's so much swag,
- 2:39Speaker 1: there's so much attitude. It is so much fun.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Right.
- 2:42Speaker 1: But I was with a buddy, one of our Action
- 2:44Speaker 1: Network colleagues here, and he asked me my most hated
- 2:48Speaker 1: team in all of sports, and it didn't I didn't
- 2:51Speaker 1: even hesitate. I didn't. I didn't say the Packers. It
- 2:54Speaker 1: didn't even occur to me to say the Packers because
- 2:56Speaker 1: the Bearers, and we're going to talk about this today,
- 2:58Speaker 1: have not been competitive with the Packers in thirty two years.
- 3:04Speaker 1: My first response was the next, I fucking hate the
- 3:06Speaker 1: Knicks because of how much I hated them, like when
- 3:09Speaker 1: I moved to New York in the nineties and they
- 3:10Speaker 1: were battling the bulls and it was chippy, and like
- 3:13Speaker 1: they are an annoying team. I can't stand them. I
- 3:16Speaker 1: only want them to lose. And I feel like Danny Parkins,
- 3:20Speaker 1: he'll be able to comment on that and appreciate that
- 3:22Speaker 1: as soon as I get through this read as a
- 3:24Speaker 1: reminder of The Favorites podcast is presented by Bet three

- 4:16Speaker 1: new book with co author Ben Kaplan, Pipeline to the
- 4:21Speaker 1: Pros How d three, small college, Nobody's rose to rule
- 4:29Speaker 1: the NBA. Danny, You could have taken the cowhard path.
- 4:35Speaker 1: You could have written a book, you know, rode your fame,
- 4:39Speaker 1: had a couple of anecdotes, gotten a ghostwriter, cast your check,
- 4:42Speaker 1: rinse repeat. You actually did something truly hard, a real
- 4:48Speaker 1: book with real research, real ideas, real interesting take. Why
- 4:54Speaker 1: would you do this.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Because I'm an idiot?
- 4:58Speaker 4: Hi, Chad, hey bye, thank you for the lovely introduction. Yeah,
- 5:03Speaker 4: this was not in the life plan. And on a
- 5:06Speaker 4: dollars per minute basis, this might have been my worst
- 5:09Speaker 4: time spent ever because it took a long time, nearly
- 5:13Speaker 4: four years from creation of idea or ideation to publication.
- 5:18Speaker 4: But Ben Kaplan has been my best friend since third grade.
- 5:22Speaker 4: He played Division III basketball at Amherst. And he's like,
- 5:26Speaker 4: we got to get on the phone and talk about something.
- 5:28Speaker 4: And he lives ten minutes away from me. We text
- 5:30Speaker 4: all the time, we hang out all the time. I
- 5:31Speaker 4: think I've literally never been on the phone with him
- 5:33Speaker 4: once in my life. It's like, oh God, something most
- 5:34Speaker 4: pretty serious happening. And he said, did you know that
- 5:38Speaker 4: twelve of the thirty teams either their head coach or
- 5:42Speaker 4: their top basketball decision maker, GM, a president of basketball operations,
- 5:47Speaker 4: played D three balls.
- 5:48Speaker 3: No, I had no idea.
- 5:49Speaker 4: It's like, I think there's a book here and I'm like, eh,
- 5:52Speaker 4: I don't know. It seems kind of Niche like there'd
- 5:55Speaker 4: have to be some star power. He's like, I mean
- 5:57Speaker 4: Greg Popovich, Brad Stevens, Jeff Gundhi, stan Van Gundy is like, oh, okay,
- 6:04Speaker 4: do you want to do this with me? And I
- 6:05Speaker 4: was like, well, you know what's going on in my
- 6:09Speaker 4: life at the time. My brother had a terminal brain
- 6:11Speaker 4: cancer diagnosis. My dad was deep into some dementia. I
- 6:14Speaker 4: have had a young son, my wife was pregnant with
- 6:16Speaker 4: our second I have a full time, four hour day
- 6:19Speaker 4: radio show job, and I was like, I don't know
- 6:23Speaker 4: if I can take this on. But he never asked
- 6:26Speaker 4: me for anything. He's a data analyst, so the book
- 6:29Speaker 4: would have never happened without No one would have ever
- 6:31Speaker 4: bought a book about D three basketball from a data analyst,
- 6:35Speaker 4: or he would not have been able to get the
- 6:36Speaker 4: interviews that we got. And so it's like I can't
- 6:37Speaker 4: say no to my best friend. I'll add in a
- 6:39Speaker 4: charity component to it for brain cancer research. And we
- 6:43Speaker 4: did it, and then his dad ended up passing away
- 6:46Speaker 4: too unexpectedly, like along the way, so we both lost
- 6:49Speaker 4: our dads. I lost my brother before publication, and so
- 6:52Speaker 4: it's dedicated to them. We became closer as friends. He
- 6:56Speaker 4: did probably about eight hundred hours of research. I've estimated
- 7:01Speaker 4: I did nearly one hundred interviews for the project, talk
- 7:04Speaker 4: to everyone from Jerry Colangelo to Brad Stevens, to Phil Jackson,
- 7:08Speaker 4: to Daryl Morey to I mean, Jeff van Gundy wrote
- 7:10Speaker 4: the forward of the book, Stan van Gundy, Frank Vogel,
- 7:13Speaker 4: I mean, up and down the line like really cool,
- 7:15Speaker 4: interesting people, and it was I'm really.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Really proud of the final product.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I it's a I'm rambling, but it's it's not really
- 7:25Speaker 4: you don't have to care about Amherst or emersoner Williams.
- 7:27Speaker 4: It's about It's about networking and management and leadership and
- 7:34Speaker 4: why basketball looks the way it does, and how hard
- 7:38Speaker 4: work can if you just get one toe through the door,
- 7:41Speaker 4: you can break the whole thing down. And so it's
- 7:44Speaker 4: I'm really really proud of the final product because it
- 7:48Speaker 4: took years to get to this point.
- 7:52Speaker 1: What's the answer. Why are d three former books. Read
- 7:57Speaker 1: the book, give people a summary the book. Now, okay,
- 8:01Speaker 1: so what's the answer.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Basketball has gotten smarter and bigger and more lucrative. So
- 8:13Speaker 4: smarter people have had more opportunities to get in in
- 8:17Speaker 4: unconventional ways. And then because of the resources that are
- 8:23Speaker 4: available to them at D three, they're willing to do
- 8:28Speaker 4: more with less, and they tend to overachieve. Is like
- 8:31Speaker 4: a broad way of explaining it. Like back in the day,
- 8:34Speaker 4: you've got maybe four assistant coaches. Now there are two
- 8:37Speaker 4: rows of coaches on a bench. Every team has a
- 8:41Speaker 4: G League affiliate, you have advanced scouts, you have video coordinators.
- 8:45Speaker 4: So it's a lot easier to say, Okay, this guy
- 8:48Speaker 4: is smart, but he's six foot nothing, one hundred and nothing.
- 8:52Speaker 4: I'll let him edit our video clips. And then that
- 8:56Speaker 4: guy gets his foot in the door and they end up,
- 9:00Speaker 4: you know, because D three basketball is a high level
- 9:02Speaker 4: of basketball. These are really smart guys, and then they
- 9:05Speaker 4: get in and they prove what they can do. Coaching
- 9:08Speaker 4: is teaching, and so these guys all star players care
- 9:12Speaker 4: about is do you know your shit? Can you make
- 9:15Speaker 4: me better? Lebron doesn't care that you can't do a
- 9:19Speaker 4: no look past like him, you know what I mean.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Jason Tatum doesn't care that you can't do a windmill
- 9:23Speaker 4: bunk like him. Can you make them better? And that
- 9:26Speaker 4: often happens for the best coaches between the ears. And
- 9:29Speaker 4: so once guys like Greg Popovic and Jeff Van Gundy
- 9:32Speaker 4: proved that they could do it, and then they started,
- 9:34Speaker 4: like any other business, they hired their friends. Then their
- 9:37Speaker 4: friends proved that they could do it. It just kind
- 9:39Speaker 4: of spread throughout the league with the like you know,
- 9:43Speaker 4: branches off of a tree, and now the younger guys.
- 9:46Speaker 4: They have group texts of D three alums. Sam Press
- 9:51Speaker 4: the emails some top D three programs every year asking
- 9:55Speaker 4: for who the best guy to put into the feeder
- 9:57Speaker 4: system would be. Who's a man who's a backup point guard,
- 10:02Speaker 4: Who's the guy who's willing to do the grunt work,
- 10:04Speaker 4: who wants to rise up through the ranks. So, like
- 10:06Speaker 4: any network, someone needed to do it first, and then
- 10:09Speaker 4: they hired people behind them.
- 10:11Speaker 3: And now we're here.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Everyone should go buy the book so it can get
- 10:15Speaker 1: they can go even deeper on what the answer is.
- 10:18Speaker 1: By the way, because this is really just a Matt
- 10:20Speaker 1: Mitchell podcast. He wants me to note that you highlight
- 10:24Speaker 1: Jeff Van Gundy. Jeff's first job was coaching Matt Mitchell's
- 10:28Speaker 1: high school, McQuaid Jesuit in Rochester, not coincidentally, probably because
- 10:33Speaker 1: of you know if therefore, then the next year Jeff
- 10:38Speaker 1: Van Gundy became a GA of Providence, where they went
- 10:40Speaker 1: to the Final four.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Jeff Van Gundy.
- 10:44Speaker 4: The stories of Jeff Van Gundy in this book then
- 10:46Speaker 4: met you will absolutely love. I mean, the things that
- 10:48Speaker 4: he did for those kids at high school when he
- 10:50Speaker 4: was twenty three years old, coaching them, His story of
- 10:54Speaker 4: going from Yale to Menlo Junior College. No one in
- 10:59Speaker 4: the history of anyone has ever done that, only for
- 11:01Speaker 4: him to then go with Brockport and Nazareth, so he
- 11:04Speaker 4: was the transfer portal before the transfer portal. There are
- 11:08Speaker 4: great Van Gundy anecdotes in this book that people will like.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Danny. One of the reasons we have you on today
- 11:14Speaker 1: a obviously you're deep in Chicago and we're going to
- 11:17Speaker 1: get to the Bears and Caleb Williams. But also if
- 11:20Speaker 1: people don't know, you know, your betting, not just like hey,
- 11:24Speaker 1: you know, everyone's got to get into betting because there's
- 11:26Speaker 1: money in it, and we've got to get sponsors, and
- 11:28Speaker 1: so we're going to talk about betting on the show,
- 11:29Speaker 1: like you and I got to know each other because
- 11:32Speaker 1: when we first started Action, we were both guests on
- 11:37Speaker 1: a show that was focused on betting. Through Odyssey. You
- 11:40Speaker 1: know your stuff in betting. So we're going to run
- 11:42Speaker 1: through the NFC East or the NFC Conference. Pass or play.
- 11:48Speaker 1: If you don't have an opinion, that's cool, we can pass.
- 11:51Speaker 1: But we're going to go through sort of the markets
- 11:53Speaker 1: that we've seen posted so far. A lot of markets
- 11:55Speaker 1: are up, especially at our sponsor bet three sixty five
- 11:59Speaker 1: for every team, a lot of players, Rookie of the year's,
- 12:01Speaker 1: coach of the year, etc. We're gonna run through some opinions.
- 12:04Speaker 1: You ready, Let's do it, all, right, Simon Dallas Cowboys.
- 12:11Speaker 1: If there's a team that has had a worse offseason
- 12:15Speaker 1: or a more criticized offseason, it's hard to pinpoint. It
- 12:19Speaker 1: feels like every decision they've made since they decided not
- 12:22Speaker 1: to fire Mike McCarthy has been the wrong decision, at
- 12:25Speaker 1: least from the perspective of the public. Ten and a
- 12:27Speaker 1: half win total juice to the under plus one twenty
- 12:31Speaker 1: to win the East, I would fade the Cowboys right now, Simon.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it feels like Jerry Jones is in shock. I
- 12:44Speaker 2: honestly think he's in shock from that Green Bay playoff
- 12:47Speaker 2: game and he hasn't come out of it where something
- 12:50Speaker 2: changed in him from that game where instead of going
- 12:54Speaker 2: forward or going backwards, he's done nothing. They're just spinning
- 12:57Speaker 2: their tires right now, the Cowboys, and I think this
- 12:59Speaker 2: is more says so much about Dak Prescott and Chad knows.
- 13:05Speaker 2: All I do on here is take heat. When I
- 13:07Speaker 2: said that Dak Prescott was not a top ten quarterback
- 13:10Speaker 2: last year, and people were like, oh, it's a Homer
- 13:12Speaker 2: pick everything you're saying. My exact reason was he's going
- 13:16Speaker 2: to have an incredible regular season and then he is
- 13:19Speaker 2: going to do nothing in the playoffs and he will
- 13:22Speaker 2: not take any blame. People will blame the head coach,
- 13:24Speaker 2: they'll blame the offensive skill positions. Finally, finally, this year,
- 13:29Speaker 2: I feel like people are holding Dak to the fire,
- 13:33Speaker 2: like he's taking some accountability where he's it's him, Like
- 13:36Speaker 2: as much as people want to put it everywhere else,
- 13:38Speaker 2: he is what fell apart in that Green Bay game.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I mean, you are the two seed at home against
- 13:44Speaker 2: a very young Green Bay team in the seventh seed,
- 13:46Speaker 2: and you got embarrassed. I mean that was an embarrassing game.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I mean we watched that in a bar with all
- 13:51Speaker 2: our fans, Chad and everyone. Five minutes in New this
- 13:56Speaker 2: game's over. I mean it was before you even threw
- 13:58Speaker 2: a pick six. It just felt like everything was going
- 14:01Speaker 2: wrong for the Cowboys. So people, if you want to
- 14:04Speaker 2: bet the Cowboys this year, go for it. But me
- 14:07Speaker 2: and Chad begged you last year to bet them to
- 14:09Speaker 2: win the division. It was it was an easy bet,
- 14:12Speaker 2: and this year feels like the easy bet of you
- 14:14Speaker 2: just fade the Cowboys. It's it's it's totally an in
- 14:17Speaker 2: between year of the writings on the wall. They are
- 14:20Speaker 2: moving on from dak This this to me feels like
- 14:23Speaker 2: Jerry has already said as much without having to say anything,
- 14:25Speaker 2: because for the first time in my lifetime, they have
- 14:29Speaker 2: done zero moves and zero ways if they try to
- 14:31Speaker 2: benefit and make this team better. So yeah, it's a
- 14:34Speaker 2: long winded answer of saying you can bet the under.
- 14:38Speaker 2: If you won, I'll bet the under. But like, why
- 14:40Speaker 2: would you bet anything for them for future as divisional? What?
- 14:43Speaker 2: Who is still out there that's betting this team's future
- 14:45Speaker 2: long wise. So yeah, interesting to hear your opinion. But
- 14:48Speaker 2: for me, this is just an easy stay away team
- 14:51Speaker 2: or betting under team. I just have zero faith in
- 14:53Speaker 2: this Cowboys team.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Danny, Yeah, the offseason is terrible.
- 14:59Speaker 4: David stuck in quicksand this isn't a gambling point, but
- 15:03Speaker 4: generally speaking, when you have star players, you want to
- 15:06Speaker 4: sign them as early as possible because then other teams
- 15:10Speaker 4: signed star players and the market just stacks up. So
- 15:13Speaker 4: everyone's focusing on Dak Prescott. They also haven't signed Ceede Lamb,
- 15:17Speaker 4: so and all these other receivers are getting contract extensions.
- 15:21Speaker 4: People are waiting for Justin Jefferson. What's Jamar Chase gonna do?
- 15:23Speaker 4: We saw the AJ Brown extension and so they are
- 15:27Speaker 4: going to be in a real tough spot and they've
- 15:30Speaker 4: got to choose who they want to keep, and it
- 15:33Speaker 4: just feels like this is a transitional year now. They
- 15:36Speaker 4: scored more points than anybody in the NFL. Last year
- 15:38Speaker 4: they won twelve games. But and Tyler Geiten was a
- 15:43Speaker 4: fine first round pick they traded back to do it,
- 15:45Speaker 4: but he had very little experience in college and he's
- 15:48Speaker 4: probably going to be a plug and play day one
- 15:51Speaker 4: left tackle if Dak or Cedee Lamb gets injured. They're
- 15:57Speaker 4: so dependent on those two guys for production. I mean
- 15:59Speaker 4: they brought back Zeke Elliott. They did not you know,
- 16:02Speaker 4: Brandon Cooks is still the number two. They did not
- 16:04Speaker 4: invest in depth at skill position anywhere. Everyone in the
- 16:09Speaker 4: world thought they were going to draft a running back
- 16:12Speaker 4: in the middle rounds of this draft. They didn't. So,
- 16:14Speaker 4: I mean, it's de Deuce Vaughn, it's Zeke Elliott. It's
- 16:17Speaker 4: a very top heavy roster. So I kind of like
- 16:23Speaker 4: plus one ninety five missed the playoffs cause right now
- 16:29Speaker 4: everyone's like, oh, it's been a bad offseason, but they're
- 16:31Speaker 4: still good. So you could just bet against them in
- 16:34Speaker 4: games if you wanted, You could do season win total under.
- 16:37Speaker 4: But if you think that Washington's going to be better
- 16:40Speaker 4: and that Philly's going to bounce back, the NFC has
- 16:43Speaker 4: caught up a little bit to the AFC, So I
- 16:46Speaker 4: don't hate plus one ninety five on them to miss
- 16:49Speaker 4: the playoffs entirely.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I love that idea. Look the Cowboys, there was no
- 16:54Speaker 1: game that anybody was more hyped to bet than the Packers,
- 16:57Speaker 1: as underdogs in that game, and it paid almost from
- 17:00Speaker 1: the beginning of the game. The fact that, Simon, I
- 17:03Speaker 1: think you're right. Jerry Jones seems like he's in shock,
- 17:05Speaker 1: but nobody else is because everyone else was betting against
- 17:07Speaker 1: him from the second that line opened. In the playoffs,
- 17:10Speaker 1: so under plus one ninety five and missed the playoffs.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Those are good early leans. I like it. Washington Commanders,
- 17:18Speaker 1: new owner, new quarterback, new coach, six and a half
- 17:23Speaker 1: wins juice to the over plus two sixty to make
- 17:27Speaker 1: the playoffs. Jayden Daniels seven to one to win Rookie
- 17:31Speaker 1: of the Year. I think in a division where the
- 17:34Speaker 1: Cowboys will be down but still better than the Commanders,
- 17:38Speaker 1: I believe the Eagles will be much improved. I don't
- 17:43Speaker 1: love betting over six and a half on the Commanders, Simon.
- 17:49Speaker 1: This feels a little bit like we're being baited.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Well, it's also this is probably the happiest and most
- 17:57Speaker 2: excited these fans have been since what RG three rookie year,
- 18:00Speaker 2: even those Kirk years. I don't really think the fan
- 18:03Speaker 2: base ever totally bought into Kirk right where they really
- 18:06Speaker 2: do feel like they have their guy now and they
- 18:08Speaker 2: have a different organization, everything going forward. So I do
- 18:11Speaker 2: think the books have bumped this up probably half a
- 18:13Speaker 2: game chat just because of it, the excitement everything that
- 18:15Speaker 2: comes with it. You're right, like the play probably is
- 18:18Speaker 2: the under I will make a play. Yet I need
- 18:20Speaker 2: to see this kid in camp because he has crazy
- 18:24Speaker 2: high upside. We already talked about it like this this
- 18:27Speaker 2: kid is older. You know, Daniels is a twenty four
- 18:30Speaker 2: year old rookie or whatever it is, so he could
- 18:32Speaker 2: come in and be very game ready. But I would say,
- 18:36Speaker 2: as a fan of a team in the NFC East,
- 18:38Speaker 2: we have some of the best he lines in football
- 18:41Speaker 2: in our division, and this is a kid that doesn't
- 18:43Speaker 2: have that good of offensive line that likes to run
- 18:45Speaker 2: the ball. So Daniels has crazy upside, or he could
- 18:48Speaker 2: be out of the season in week two. Like it's
- 18:51Speaker 2: just it's all there for this kid and this team.
- 18:53Speaker 2: So I'm with Chad, like I don't even putting any
- 18:57Speaker 2: money on this team here in May, so I'm gonna
- 18:58Speaker 2: I'm gonna go ahead and pass on making a play
- 19:00Speaker 2: on this team right now. Danny.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Yeah, the only thing that you said there and I
- 19:06Speaker 4: would not do it because I'm a Caleb guy, and
- 19:07Speaker 4: we'll get to it.
- 19:08Speaker 3: But if you are a believer in.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Daniels, he's the next guy that can win Rookie of
- 19:14Speaker 4: the Year realistically, if you're a believer, now I'm not.
- 19:17Speaker 4: I didn't see enough off schedule stuff from him in college.
- 19:20Speaker 4: He had Thomas, he had neighbors. Everything was clean for him.
- 19:25Speaker 4: In the pocket, there's a lot of yards after the catch.
- 19:27Speaker 4: I get why people like him for fantasy because of
- 19:29Speaker 4: the built in floor with quarterback rushing yards and rookies
- 19:33Speaker 4: when they don't get one read to read, they'll take
- 19:36Speaker 4: off and run. So I get the fantasy hype on Daniels,
- 19:40Speaker 4: but I don't really get the win total hype yet.
- 19:44Speaker 4: For him as a rookie, it's a pretty good situation
- 19:47Speaker 4: to go to with Dotson and McLaurin to throw the ball.
- 19:51Speaker 4: But I'm with you on the offensive line questions and
- 19:54Speaker 4: I would be staying away. But if you are a
- 19:58Speaker 4: believer in Daniels, I would be in investing in Washington
- 20:01Speaker 4: not for their win total to make the playoffs, but
- 20:03Speaker 4: in that Rookie of the year number.
- 20:07Speaker 1: The New York Giants six and a half wins. This
- 20:10Speaker 1: to me is a really interesting team obviously they've changed dramatically.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Daniel Jones, we don't really know what his future is.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Barkley is gone Dayball. After being praised as a genius,
- 20:23Speaker 1: now all of a sudden wasn't a genius and there
- 20:25Speaker 1: was strife and they're turning over their coaching staff. I
- 20:29Speaker 1: have no opinion on this team right now, Simon, start
- 20:32Speaker 1: us off.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I bet them at whatever. It was one hundred
- 20:36Speaker 2: and thirty to one for the Super Bowl future when
- 20:38Speaker 2: we did our show in February. Just right, just a.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I don't think they're going to trade Daniel Jones. And
- 20:43Speaker 2: these odds were too high, and it's very telling they
- 20:46Speaker 2: haven't moved much since they've got Daniel Jones, because that's
- 20:49Speaker 2: the book kind of view of them. But yeah, if
- 20:52Speaker 2: you're going to go with a crazy long shot team,
- 20:55Speaker 2: how do you not bet this team like these are.
- 20:57Speaker 2: This is probably the best offensive weapons even that Barkley left.
- 21:00Speaker 2: It is probably the best offensive weapons Daniel Jones ever
- 21:03Speaker 2: had on his Giants' career. And you know, last year
- 21:08Speaker 2: they won games with a third stringer that was living
- 21:12Speaker 2: at home with his parents in Jersey, Like, this team
- 21:15Speaker 2: has talent and Daniel Jones to me does have talent.
- 21:17Speaker 2: We've seen that kid make big throws in a playoff
- 21:20Speaker 2: game to beat Kirk Cousins.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Like it.
- 21:21Speaker 2: There are things there to like. So it's a BILO team.
- 21:24Speaker 2: So I'll take the over six and a half. I'll
- 21:27Speaker 2: bet them ten to one. Do I have any faith
- 21:29Speaker 2: that they would actually win this division? No, but it's football.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Weirder things have happened, especially where you know, the Eagles
- 21:35Speaker 2: have an offense where we could see Hurts get hurt, right,
- 21:38Speaker 2: it's not gonna wouldn't be that shot and see him
- 21:39Speaker 2: get banged up. Same goes with the Cowboys. I just
- 21:42Speaker 2: have to see them regressing. So no faith in Washington.
- 21:45Speaker 2: If you're going to bet a long shot team in
- 21:47Speaker 2: this division, you only got one option. To me, it's
- 21:49Speaker 2: the Giants, not Washington. So I'll throw a little on
- 21:52Speaker 2: the Giants here. But like I'm saying, tongue in cheek chat,
- 21:55Speaker 2: do I really believe this team's gonna win this division? No,
- 21:57Speaker 2: but it's ten to one, I gotta throw a little
- 21:59Speaker 2: on it.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Tommy DeVito was quitt side at MSG last night, got
- 22:03Speaker 1: a massive ovation and looked looked exactly like Tommy DeVito
- 22:09Speaker 1: would look in the offseason, no judgment, just saying Danny.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I'll be quick. I'm a pass on
- 22:19Speaker 4: investing in this team. I love the Neighbors pick, crazy
- 22:23Speaker 4: high upside. I think he'll be a star. And you
- 22:26Speaker 4: want to not be in a situation that the Patriots
- 22:29Speaker 4: are in where you draft a quarterback and have nothing
- 22:31Speaker 4: around them. When they move on from Daniel Jones, they'll
- 22:34Speaker 4: at least have a stud wide receiver on a rookie deal.
- 22:38Speaker 4: So I liked the logic of the Neighbors pick, but
- 22:40Speaker 4: I think it's for the next quarterback. I think they're
- 22:42Speaker 4: going to be pretty bad this year.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Now, i'd simon, now we got to talk about the
- 22:46Speaker 1: Eagles ten and a half wins. I know it sounds crazy,
- 22:51Speaker 1: feels low to me. I think that because it's juice
- 22:54Speaker 1: to the under. It feels to me like the market
- 22:57Speaker 1: is not acknowledging how much better or this team can be.
- 23:01Speaker 1: And that last year was a funky year, especially the
- 23:04Speaker 1: last six weeks. If you look at it in some ways,
- 23:07Speaker 1: you could convince yourself that the Eagles overachieved in those
- 23:12Speaker 1: first ten to twelve weeks of the year because they
- 23:15Speaker 1: didn't have a great coaching staff, and they really were
- 23:18Speaker 1: winning on sort of guile and championship pedigree, and then
- 23:23Speaker 1: the wheels just came off with injuries and bad decisions
- 23:25Speaker 1: and you saw sort of how it was put together
- 23:27Speaker 1: with sort of scotch tape. But I love their draft.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I like that they re signed AJ Brown. It probably
- 23:35Speaker 1: takes some of detention out of the room, shows a commitment.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I'm always going to be a Jalen Hurts fan. I
- 23:40Speaker 1: like Saquon walk me back from over hyping and over
- 23:47Speaker 1: believing in this team's potential right now.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Yeah, last year, we talked all of season they were
- 23:54Speaker 2: gonna be an easy fade. Teams that lose a super
- 23:55Speaker 2: Bowl coming in the next season, it always goes bad, right,
- 23:58Speaker 2: We talked them, unless you have Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes,
- 24:01Speaker 2: you lose the super Bowl the next season, it's just
- 24:04Speaker 2: not gonna be right because you're chasing something instead of
- 24:07Speaker 2: focusing on the season. And you know, should have been
- 24:09Speaker 2: a red flag last year when we saw Jalen Hurts,
- 24:11Speaker 2: his background was all the confetti from the super Bowl,
- 24:14Speaker 2: where it's like this this guy people like that, where
- 24:17Speaker 2: it's like he's determined and this is what he's like
- 24:19Speaker 2: reminding himself of every day. It wore the team down.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Like midway through the season, the team was just worn down.
- 24:25Speaker 2: And I mean they went from what ten to one
- 24:27Speaker 2: went in their division to being a wildcard team, Like
- 24:30Speaker 2: they just totally collapsed. They're an easy bet to be
- 24:34Speaker 2: better this year, like they brought in a new OC,
- 24:36Speaker 2: a new DC, the talent they brought in, Like people
- 24:39Speaker 2: are saying it's a negative they've lost Jason Kelcey. Of course,
- 24:42Speaker 2: the guy is such a leader, it's a big deal.
- 24:45Speaker 2: But it's also a thirty five thirty four undersize center
- 24:49Speaker 2: that they're losing. So it's like, it's not great they
- 24:52Speaker 2: losing Jason Kelsey. But I don't think it's me as
- 24:54Speaker 2: dramatic as everyone's making out to be. It's like this,
- 24:56Speaker 2: this is ain't the guy we all thought he was
- 24:58Speaker 2: years ago. He's still a great player, but it was
- 25:00Speaker 2: like it's at some points he became a liability and
- 25:04Speaker 2: we go up against certain teams. So yeah, my view
- 25:07Speaker 2: of this Eagles team pretty simple. I think their Chad
- 25:11Speaker 2: alluded to it last last episode that he thinks the
- 25:13Speaker 2: AFC is the best teams. In my model, I have
- 25:16Speaker 2: the three best teams right now on football or the NFC,
- 25:18Speaker 2: and no surprise, forty Niners number one, number two, I
- 25:21Speaker 2: have the Eagles number three. I have Detroit line. So
- 25:24Speaker 2: right now I have them great above any other teams
- 25:26Speaker 2: in the AFC, which sounds crazy, but I'm talking complete teams.
- 25:30Speaker 2: This isn't just about the quarterbacks. It's the complete team.
- 25:33Speaker 2: So this Eagles team, I don't know how these rookies
- 25:36Speaker 2: are going to perform, and all these kids they took
- 25:38Speaker 2: from Georgia, they have a lot of questions on that side.
- 25:40Speaker 2: But offensively, this is the best offensive football in my opinion,
- 25:44Speaker 2: So pretty excited to see what they do now with
- 25:47Speaker 2: a good offensive mind coaching his team. Again, nothing against Sirianni,
- 25:50Speaker 2: I just I don't have faith of him as an
- 25:52Speaker 2: offensive coordinator. So yeah, Eagles team over ten and a
- 25:56Speaker 2: half them to win the East. I saw on our
- 25:59Speaker 2: notes have Saquon for rushing touchdowns. That's a really dumb bet.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Hurts is going to eat at that. Do not beton
- 26:05Speaker 2: most rushing touchdowns. I do not like that, especially a
- 26:08Speaker 2: guy like him. You can catch it as well, so
- 26:09Speaker 2: he's not always gonna be rushing it in there. Push
- 26:12Speaker 2: push people stay away from Saquon. Uh, but yeah, just
- 26:16Speaker 2: a team I'm all in on. But obviously questions to
- 26:20Speaker 2: me are still Siriani Like. I don't really have an
- 26:22Speaker 2: issue with her. It's my my main issue is Siriani.
- 26:26Speaker 4: I liked what they did in the draft. I thought,
- 26:30Speaker 4: you know, the pass defense was so bad last year
- 26:33Speaker 4: and just so disappointing, and Sleigh and brad Berry and
- 26:38Speaker 4: the upgrades that were so necessary. So I think, uh,
- 26:42Speaker 4: you know, getting Mitchell the corner from Toledo Cooper Degen
- 26:45Speaker 4: in the second round, who will you know, most likely
- 26:47Speaker 4: be a safety there?
- 26:48Speaker 3: I thought. I thought, giving premium resources.
- 26:51Speaker 4: To the biggest issue on the team was the obvious play.
- 26:55Speaker 4: And if I'm selling the Cowboys, uh, you've got to
- 26:58Speaker 4: buy the Eagles. So I agree, this isn't over ten
- 27:00Speaker 4: and a half for me.
- 27:01Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 27:01Speaker 4: I do not agree that they're the best team in football,
- 27:04Speaker 4: but I do think that they are a.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Forty nine ers. I said they're number two. I said, okay, yeah,
- 27:10Speaker 2: but even that's that big of a homer.
- 27:11Speaker 3: I'm a home like that. I'll take the Chiefs.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Look, that's it. That's a fascinating conversation that we'd go
- 27:18Speaker 1: Niners Eagles, Lions as the three best teams in football
- 27:22Speaker 1: when the AFC has been so dominant. But I also
- 27:24Speaker 1: like the idea because it brings more credence to the
- 27:29Speaker 1: Bengals bet to win the Super Bowl that we.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Made AFC's been dominant. What name the other Super Bowl
- 27:35Speaker 2: winners other than the Chiefs. You got to go back
- 27:39Speaker 2: to Brady. I get what you're saying, but it's like
- 27:42Speaker 2: it feels like they just had They've just had the
- 27:44Speaker 2: best quarterback in football for the last twenty years of
- 27:46Speaker 2: the AFC, and that's been their cheek code. It's like
- 27:48Speaker 2: they literally just went from Brady to Mahomes. I just
- 27:50Speaker 2: think the most complete teams are in the NFC.
- 27:53Speaker 3: I like it. I like it.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Chic Cargo, Cago, that Toddle in Town.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Chicago, Chicago, I will show you around.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I love it.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Speaking of best quarterbacks in the history of football, oh God,
- 28:14Speaker 1: the Bears have basically drafted this successor to Johnny Unitas,
- 28:21Speaker 1: Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes In, Caleb Williams, Danny
- 28:30Speaker 1: the flora is yours.
- 28:33Speaker 3: I mean, where do I begin?
- 28:36Speaker 4: Other than no number one pick quarterback in the history
- 28:39Speaker 4: of football has ever walked into a better situation period.
- 28:43Speaker 4: That's a fact, not an opinion. So it's and then
- 28:47Speaker 4: you add in the level of prospect that he is
- 28:50Speaker 4: and you say, okay, well, it's like Trevor Lawrence is
- 28:52Speaker 4: a prospect, or, it's like Burrow is a prospect, or,
- 28:54Speaker 4: it's like Andrew luck is a prospect. Like whatever your flavor.
- 28:57Speaker 4: Those guys all went to one or two win teams.
- 29:00Speaker 4: This is a seven win team that added Keenan Allen.
- 29:04Speaker 4: So it's DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Roma Donze, top ten
- 29:08Speaker 4: tight ends, Cole Comet, all rookie right tackle Darnell Wright,
- 29:13Speaker 4: and a solid offensive line. I'm not going to make
- 29:15Speaker 4: it out like they're the best in the NFL, but
- 29:17Speaker 4: Braxton Jones is a replacement level left tackle. Tevin Jenkins
- 29:22Speaker 4: is a very good left guard. They upgraded at center
- 29:25Speaker 4: with Ryan Bates, and they got a nineteen million dollar
- 29:28Speaker 4: right guard in Nate Davis, and they got DeAndre Swift
- 29:31Speaker 4: out of the backfield. So they were a top five
- 29:34Speaker 4: defense in the NFL after they added Montese Sweat. Defensive
- 29:37Speaker 4: line questions still exist. If Montes Sweat got hurt, they
- 29:40Speaker 4: would have no pass rush. They basically had no pass rush.
- 29:42Speaker 4: Last year, they were thirty first in sack rate even
- 29:45Speaker 4: with him as a midseason addition. But they have a
- 29:49Speaker 4: legitimate shot at being a top ten defense and top
- 29:54Speaker 4: ten offense with a incredibly talented, generational quarter on.
- 30:00Speaker 3: A rookie deal. Who people are like, oh, it was
- 30:03Speaker 3: bad at USC.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Okay, he did win the Heisman Trophy and in two
- 30:07Speaker 4: years he had a forty six to one touchdown the
- 30:09Speaker 4: interception ratio in the red zone and didn't throw an
- 30:12Speaker 4: interception in his USC career on third or fourth down.
- 30:16Speaker 4: This is a big game hunter who lost eight games
- 30:19Speaker 4: at USC. His defense gave up at least thirty four
- 30:21Speaker 4: points in all eight of the losses average of forty
- 30:24Speaker 4: three points allowed. He is craving structure. So it was like, oh,
- 30:29Speaker 4: he fumbled too much? Did you watch any of those games?
- 30:32Speaker 4: The guy was trying to, you know, score seventy points
- 30:34Speaker 4: per possession because that's what his defense and offensive line necessitated.
- 30:38Speaker 4: So you come to a good defense, a higher level
- 30:41Speaker 4: of play, a top three or four wide receiver trio
- 30:44Speaker 4: in the NFL, a good offensive line, a good tight end,
- 30:48Speaker 4: and the Bears are screaming over this year on their
- 30:53Speaker 4: win total and if you want to sprinkle them at
- 30:55Speaker 4: better than three to one in the division, I.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Don't hate it because I already did it.
- 30:59Speaker 1: And Eddie questions, Simon, I do have questions, but Simon,
- 31:06Speaker 1: I don't even know if I want you to say anything.
- 31:07Speaker 1: I don't want you. I don't want you to harsh
- 31:11Speaker 1: my buzz here man.
- 31:13Speaker 2: As Chad knows, I'm the one that keeps it real
- 31:16Speaker 2: with them, and I tried to chill them out with
- 31:18Speaker 2: fields when they drafted justin Fields. Was my exact quote
- 31:21Speaker 2: to you chat. Probably don't even remember, but my exact
- 31:23Speaker 2: quote the chat was, the Bears don't draft quarterbacks that
- 31:27Speaker 2: are good, and Ohio State doesn't produce quarterbacks that are good.
- 31:31Speaker 3: And work out with CJ. Stroud.
- 31:33Speaker 2: There you go. So so this is way before CJ. Shroud,
- 31:36Speaker 2: so I'll give them the roses. Finally, Ohio State produced one.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Sadly for the Bears, they didn't take them. They didn't
- 31:42Speaker 2: take CJ. They moved out of that pick and it
- 31:45Speaker 2: worked out for you guys. You're gonna get williams Now
- 31:47Speaker 2: because the Panthers didn't take CJ. They took Bryce Young
- 31:51Speaker 2: and you're right, he is walking into the greatest I mean,
- 31:54Speaker 2: this is easily the best spot ever for number one pick.
- 31:58Speaker 2: It's just the fear is thisago. Man, you guys fucking
- 32:01Speaker 2: kill quarterbacks. That's why, like I am excited.
- 32:03Speaker 3: To be that's so dumb. That's it is.
- 32:06Speaker 2: It is dumb, but it's it's believe I've had a
- 32:08Speaker 2: four thousand yard passer in our history. So I just
- 32:12Speaker 2: look at Chicago and I'm the guy that I've been
- 32:16Speaker 2: trying to get Chad and other Bears fans on onto
- 32:19Speaker 2: this bandwagon off Caleb Williams. Like, dude, Justin Fields was fun.
- 32:23Speaker 2: His ceiling was never gonna be anything close to Williams,
- 32:25Speaker 2: and I feel like most Chicago has come around now
- 32:27Speaker 2: they're like, yeah, I don't know why we love just
- 32:29Speaker 2: to Field so much. You guys just had this loyalty
- 32:31Speaker 2: to him that was crazy. Where it's like Williams is
- 32:33Speaker 2: the savior. Williams is the guy that could change everything.
- 32:35Speaker 2: So I'll fade him this year just because it's it's
- 32:39Speaker 2: the right play. He's in a really tough division. Detroit's
- 32:42Speaker 2: really good. Minnesota is not terrible, like people are making
- 32:45Speaker 2: them not to be, even though they do have a
- 32:46Speaker 2: rookie quarterback that's probably gonna start, and the Packers. I
- 32:50Speaker 2: want to bet on Thember progression too, So that's what's
- 32:52Speaker 2: tough your Chicago. It's like, I'm not gonna bet the
- 32:55Speaker 2: under early and a half or the over eight and
- 32:56Speaker 2: a half, but I'm gonna bet. To me, the fun
- 32:58Speaker 2: bet for Chicago is the over passing yards for Williams.
- 33:01Speaker 2: If Williams goes over, is three thy five hundred passing
- 33:03Speaker 2: yards or three thy six hundred To me, that's that's
- 33:07Speaker 2: this team excelling, maybe making the playoffs and maybe going
- 33:09Speaker 2: over the win total. That's a fun bet where it's
- 33:11Speaker 2: like I really like Williams, I just don't trust the
- 33:15Speaker 2: ownership and the coaching of the Bears yet. So I'm
- 33:18Speaker 2: a year away from being all in on the Bears.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Where it's like if Williams hits us over in the
- 33:23Speaker 2: passing yards and you know, the defense, like you said,
- 33:26Speaker 2: is a top ten defense this year, Like, dude, the Bears,
- 33:29Speaker 2: the Bears going forward are going to be a juggernaut.
- 33:31Speaker 2: But I'm gonna wait and see. It's just I don't
- 33:33Speaker 2: think there's value here because this should be seven and
- 33:36Speaker 2: a half eight, But it's all the way up to
- 33:38Speaker 2: eight and a half. That's crazy for a rookie coming
- 33:41Speaker 2: in into a tough division getting that much respect.
- 33:44Speaker 4: They won seven games last year, Bears beat the Lions once,
- 33:49Speaker 4: should have beat in place. They upgraded at quarterback. So
- 33:51Speaker 4: I don't know that going from seven to nine with
- 33:54Speaker 4: an upgrade at quarterback and going from Darnell Mooney to
- 33:56Speaker 4: Keenan Allen at wide receiver two and for Tyler Scott
- 34:01Speaker 4: to run with Dunes at wide receiver three, is that
- 34:04Speaker 4: crazy to think that they might be two wins better
- 34:07Speaker 4: than they were last year. Full season of Montes sweat
- 34:09Speaker 4: as opposed to a half season of Montes sweat, and
- 34:12Speaker 4: as to like Chicago's where Quarterbacks Go to Die, that
- 34:14Speaker 4: whole thing. Do you guys know the quarterback who last
- 34:19Speaker 4: won a single regular season game that was drafted by
- 34:22Speaker 4: the Chiefs before Patrick Mahomes then any Testa Verdi Todd Blacklitch.
- 34:30Speaker 4: It was the Bengals were the Bungles until Joe Burrow
- 34:34Speaker 4: got there. Any change ownership, you can.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Had Andy Dollon years, you guys would have taken to
- 34:39Speaker 2: Andy Dollon. That was your Jay Cutler years.
- 34:41Speaker 4: So I understand that my point is like this idea
- 34:44Speaker 4: of history and futility and laughing sty it just takes
- 34:49Speaker 4: one dude to change.
- 34:50Speaker 3: It just takes one dude.
- 34:52Speaker 2: You haven't found out one dude in one hundred years though.
- 34:54Speaker 2: That's the joke. Yeah, oh, I know the joke.
- 35:00Speaker 3: I'm saying. The new punchline is Caleb Williams.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Well, look, the sad thing is the only Bears quarterback
- 35:10Speaker 1: bobblehead I have on my desk, which is the only
- 35:14Speaker 1: Bears quarterback babblehead that's been produced, and I know because
- 35:18Speaker 1: I got it from the Bears is sid Luck. So
- 35:22Speaker 1: we are due.
- 35:23Speaker 3: The J. Cutler one would have had a cigarette in
- 35:25Speaker 3: his mouth.
- 35:25Speaker 1: The J Culer one would have had a cigarette in
- 35:27Speaker 1: his mouth. He would have been standing at a urinal
- 35:29Speaker 1: yelling I don't care.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Yeah, all right.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Speaking of teams we hate, but not as much as
- 35:35Speaker 1: the Knicks, the Green Bay Packers. Are they due for aggression? Yeah,
- 35:39Speaker 1: simon take me.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Yeah, this is just an easy bet. This is such
- 35:43Speaker 2: a team that's due for aggression. They the second half
- 35:46Speaker 2: of the season was incredible, but I even league loss
- 35:50Speaker 2: over a little bit of it, Like they didn't even
- 35:53Speaker 2: play that well against the Bears in that final game
- 35:55Speaker 2: to either the Bears defense really dominated Jordan Love. The
- 35:58Speaker 2: fields had just produced a little they would have beat them.
- 36:00Speaker 2: There's just a bunch of little things where the Green
- 36:03Speaker 2: Bay they were good, Jordan Love got better. If you're
- 36:05Speaker 2: a Green Bay fan, this is the dream, like seeing
- 36:07Speaker 2: this guy second half of the year improved dramatically. The
- 36:11Speaker 2: book is going to be out, the tape is going
- 36:12Speaker 2: to be out. So that's the toughest part with this.
- 36:16Speaker 2: That's why football is so hard, where it's like they
- 36:19Speaker 2: literally will see what you do best and they have
- 36:20Speaker 2: a whole offseason how to adjust to it and to
- 36:22Speaker 2: challenge you with it next year. So don't again. I hate,
- 36:27Speaker 2: I hate pissing on these teams, but and I get
- 36:28Speaker 2: Green Bay be excited about your future. You guys are
- 36:30Speaker 2: one of the youngest teams in all football. But you're
- 36:33Speaker 2: an easy candidate to miss the playoffs. You were the
- 36:35Speaker 2: seventh seed or they got very lucky, and a lot
- 36:36Speaker 2: of things bounce your way. And I mean, it pains
- 36:39Speaker 2: me to say with these two Chicago guys on here,
- 36:41Speaker 2: but like I think you're pretty even like talent wise,
- 36:45Speaker 2: I feel like Chicago actually might have a slight edge
- 36:48Speaker 2: over green Bay talent wise. So if I like leaning
- 36:53Speaker 2: towards the under of green Bay, obviously I like the
- 36:55Speaker 2: under here for nine and a half at it's just
- 36:58Speaker 2: too high for a green Bay team, that it.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Danny.
- 37:02Speaker 4: I hope you're right. I really hope you're right. But
- 37:08Speaker 4: I actually think that Jordan Love is good. They had
- 37:11Speaker 4: the youngest offense in the NFL last year, so a
- 37:16Speaker 4: full offseason of just development, cohesion, all of that. He
- 37:22Speaker 4: was getting better as the year went on. It's sickening
- 37:25Speaker 4: to me how much he looks like Aaron Rodgers, like
- 37:27Speaker 4: where he holds the ball down by his hip, and
- 37:29Speaker 4: like how he does the ball fakes. It's just nauseating
- 37:34Speaker 4: as a Bears fan going from Aaron Jones to Josh Jacobs. Obviously,
- 37:39Speaker 4: Jacobs kind of goes good year, bad year, good year,
- 37:42Speaker 4: bad year, but he is younger than Aaron Jones. They
- 37:46Speaker 4: were twenty seventh in defensive DVOA last year, and they
- 37:51Speaker 4: upgraded a defensive coordinator because I don't think that you
- 37:53Speaker 4: could do worse than Joe Barry. When they go now
- 37:57Speaker 4: to this guy from Boston College who was in the
- 37:59Speaker 4: NFL for seven years, Jeff Haffley, who wants to do
- 38:01Speaker 4: some single high safety stuff. And so what do they
- 38:04Speaker 4: do in free agency? They go out and get Xavier McKinney,
- 38:08Speaker 4: one of the best safeties in the NFL, so he's
- 38:10Speaker 4: gonna play more pressman, which obviously helps Jay r Alexander,
- 38:14Speaker 4: one of the best corners in the NFL. I have
- 38:15Speaker 4: no idea why Joe Berry was dropping him in his
- 38:18Speaker 4: own so I hate to say it, but they're a
- 38:22Speaker 4: well run organization. Lafleour is an awesome coach. It looks
- 38:26Speaker 4: like Jordan Love is good. I don't think he's a superstar,
- 38:31Speaker 4: but it's at least still in play. So I'm staying
- 38:35Speaker 4: away from the Green Bay Packers at this point because
- 38:38Speaker 4: I do believe in Jordan Love and I do think
- 38:40Speaker 4: they upgraded on defense.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Alright, I'm gonna kick us up into the second gear
- 38:44Speaker 1: here because we've still got a lot of teams. Again,
- 38:46Speaker 1: we gotta go faster, and I know Danny's got to
- 38:48Speaker 1: get out of here at exactly the hour. So Minnesota
- 38:53Speaker 1: six and a half wins plus at eight to fifty
- 38:55Speaker 1: to win the division, plus two to fifty to make
- 38:57Speaker 1: the playoffs. I know what Simon said before about this
- 39:02Speaker 1: being a team that probably isn't as bad as people
- 39:05Speaker 1: think because they have a rookie quarterback coming in. He
- 39:08Speaker 1: has all the pieces there. I'm a pass on this
- 39:11Speaker 1: team completely right now.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Yep, pass, I agree.
- 39:16Speaker 4: I do think Kevin O'Connell's a great coach, though so
- 39:19Speaker 4: in terms of quarterbacks are successful because of the situation
- 39:23Speaker 4: they go to, not necessarily just because of the quarterback.
- 39:26Speaker 4: I do think that JJ McCarthy got very, very lucky
- 39:29Speaker 4: going you.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Guys see my fear though, you guys now can admit
- 39:31Speaker 2: you probably the fourth best coach in your division. That's
- 39:33Speaker 2: that's a scary spot to be.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Who's the favorite for Coach of the year right now,
- 39:37Speaker 3: by the way, Yeah.
- 39:38Speaker 1: But that's only because you've got a quarterback who's set
- 39:41Speaker 1: up to be the greatest quarterback in the history of
- 39:43Speaker 1: the NFL.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Matt Maggie won Coach of the Year because Vic fam
- 39:46Speaker 4: defense got thirty six takeaways. Okay, exactly, I'm aware of
- 39:49Speaker 4: how it works, but he is a He's a co
- 39:51Speaker 4: favorite with Jim Harbaugh to be the coach of the
- 39:55Speaker 4: Year in the NFL.
- 39:56Speaker 1: That only means the disappointment can be greater. Absolutely, Detroit
- 40:01Speaker 1: Simon's third best team overall in the NFL ten and
- 40:04Speaker 1: a half wins Juice to the Under. I worry about
- 40:08Speaker 1: this team. I worry that this is a team that
- 40:12Speaker 1: was riding so high last year and had so many
- 40:15Speaker 1: things go right for them. And I love Dan Campbell.
- 40:20Speaker 1: We all believe Dan Campbell, and this league is better
- 40:22Speaker 1: for the media when Dan Campbell is in it. I
- 40:26Speaker 1: worry about this team hitting a wall.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Simon, Yeah, don't even think of people. They're bringing back
- 40:31Speaker 2: their genius oc they bringing back to their quarterback. Their
- 40:35Speaker 2: rookies are going to be better than they were last year.
- 40:37Speaker 2: I mean, they have arguably a top three tight end.
- 40:40Speaker 2: I'm on, Saint Brown just resigned. It's all of there.
- 40:43Speaker 2: So they attacked their defense. The defense is their weakness.
- 40:46Speaker 2: They blew that game against the forty nine ers because
- 40:47Speaker 2: their defense is going to get any stops in that
- 40:49Speaker 2: second half. They're going after it. I'm with Chad though,
- 40:52Speaker 2: like there's still questions about this Lion's team, but like, overall,
- 40:56Speaker 2: this team is really good. They were, I mean a
- 40:58Speaker 2: couple couple of plays away from absolutely snacking and dominating
- 41:02Speaker 2: that four nine ers team in San Francisco in the playoffs, like,
- 41:05Speaker 2: this is a really good team and a very veteran
- 41:08Speaker 2: team at the key positions. They got veteran guys defensive line,
- 41:10Speaker 2: offensive line, and at quarterback skill positions, a bunch of
- 41:13Speaker 2: young kids. So yeah, really quick, I would love to
- 41:16Speaker 2: dive in more. Will this this upcoming off season more
- 41:19Speaker 2: about Detroit just right now. If you're gonna make a bet,
- 41:22Speaker 2: I'll take the over ten and a half.
- 41:24Speaker 4: My biggest bet, my biggest preseason bet last year was
- 41:28Speaker 4: the Lions to win the North at minus one forty.
- 41:30Speaker 4: I just thought that was the lock of all locks.
- 41:33Speaker 4: And people kind of use the logic of oh, it's Detroit,
- 41:35Speaker 4: kind of like you're saying bears, they'll mess it up.
- 41:38Speaker 4: Like whenever I hear that logic, I'm like, eh, I'm
- 41:40Speaker 4: going away.
- 41:41Speaker 3: I'm fit.
- 41:43Speaker 4: And so they they're really really good and it's crazy
- 41:48Speaker 4: that Ben Johnson keeps going back there.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 41:51Speaker 4: It's just it's a it's a crazy thing. And so
- 41:55Speaker 4: they are in a really, really, really good spot. But
- 41:58Speaker 4: they're also not a secret anymore. So it's hard to
- 42:01Speaker 4: win eleven plus games. So I will be staying away
- 42:04Speaker 4: and just take my profits from last year believing in them.
- 42:07Speaker 4: And maybe bet them in some game spots. But I
- 42:10Speaker 4: don't have any futures on the lines anymore because they're
- 42:13Speaker 4: just They're not a secret. Everybody agrees they're a top
- 42:16Speaker 4: six team in the NFL.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Simon, can you name the fastest growing ticketing app in
- 42:20Speaker 1: the United States?
- 42:21Speaker 2: Game Time?
- 42:22Speaker 1: That's right, It's game Time. I love game Time for
- 42:24Speaker 1: two reasons. First, they still sponsor this show. Second, I
- 42:28Speaker 1: use game Time all the time. They have amazing last
- 42:30Speaker 1: minute deals, including on pro and college sports, speaking of which,
- 42:33Speaker 1: I'm using game Time right now. Opening the app from
- 42:36Speaker 1: the Action Network studios here in Manhattan. Look at this.
- 42:41Speaker 1: I can get to the Yankees tonight for less than
- 42:44Speaker 1: fifteen bucks. Beautiful night here in New York. No matter
- 42:47Speaker 1: where you live, download the game Time app. Get out
- 42:49Speaker 1: have some fun this week. You deserve it. You can
- 42:51Speaker 1: redeem code favorites for twenty dollars off your first purchase.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Terms apply again. Just download the game Time app and
- 42:57Speaker 1: use code favorites for twenty dollars off your purchase. Last
- 43:00Speaker 1: minute tickets lows price is guaranteed. All right. Now we
- 43:04Speaker 1: go into the most irrelevant division in the NFC, the
- 43:10Speaker 1: NFC South, the only division where fans only care about
- 43:15Speaker 1: the team if they live in that particular city, and
- 43:17Speaker 1: no one else really knows if they exist. The only
- 43:19Speaker 1: one that actually made any noise this draft, the Atlanta Falcons,
- 43:24Speaker 1: drafted Michael Pennix Junior in the first round, top ten,
- 43:29Speaker 1: after they already had Kirk Cousins. Everyone's puzzled. They thought
- 43:32Speaker 1: this team had a lock in the division if they
- 43:34Speaker 1: made one right move. Danny, I'll start with you. Give
- 43:37Speaker 1: me your take on Atlanta right now. Nine and a
- 43:39Speaker 1: half wins is the is the season win total? Minus
- 43:42Speaker 1: one and twenty five to win the division?
- 43:44Speaker 2: Straight up, pimpy. If you want me, you can find
- 43:47Speaker 2: me getting them.
- 43:51Speaker 3: This is last year's Detroit Lions.
- 43:53Speaker 4: Wow, minus one twenty five to win that division is
- 43:57Speaker 4: a lock. Oh that's like, Oh, there's no such thing
- 44:01Speaker 4: as a lock. That is a great bet. I hated
- 44:06Speaker 4: what they did with the eighth overall pick in the draft.
- 44:09Speaker 4: I loathed it. It was intergalactically stupid. But everything else
- 44:15Speaker 4: that they did this offseason was really good. They upgraded
- 44:20Speaker 4: significantly at quarterback, they upgraded significantly at coach, they upgraded
- 44:26Speaker 4: significantly at offensive coordinator slash play caller, and they upgraded
- 44:30Speaker 4: significantly at wide receiver two and three.
- 44:34Speaker 3: That feels pretty good. That feels pretty good.
- 44:38Speaker 4: So I and they were the eleventh ranked defense in
- 44:40Speaker 4: the NFL last year, so I think that they will
- 44:44Speaker 4: win that division.
- 44:45Speaker 3: I think they will win double digit games.
- 44:48Speaker 4: And now they actually have Kirk Cousins insurance in Michael
- 44:51Speaker 4: Pennocks junior. So I am for in terms of a
- 44:55Speaker 4: preseason division bet they are this year's Detroit Lions for me.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Strong bold statement from Danny Parkins.
- 45:03Speaker 3: That's what I do. I know.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I honestly haven't done much of the LANDA if
- 45:09Speaker 2: you're looking for a fun long shot bet I made.
- 45:11Speaker 2: I made Pennix eighty to one when Rookie of the
- 45:13Speaker 2: Year just the simple fact, Hey, if Kirk comes back
- 45:16Speaker 2: and he's not right, maybe they take their time with him.
- 45:18Speaker 2: I just don't know what the timeline is for him.
- 45:21Speaker 2: And he's looked you know, he's looked at right since
- 45:23Speaker 2: I've seen little clips of him. But eighty to one
- 45:26Speaker 2: for Penix, it feels like that's way too large, where
- 45:29Speaker 2: it's like, you know, may might not play the whole
- 45:31Speaker 2: season either, like he might sit behind percent until you know,
- 45:33Speaker 2: week fifteen and he's like ten to one. It's just
- 45:37Speaker 2: pegs to me, should be closer to forty to one,
- 45:39Speaker 2: thirty to one. So yeah, Atlanta, I'll pass for now.
- 45:43Speaker 2: I don't. I'm not in love with him as much
- 45:45Speaker 2: as Danny is here, but I get where he's coming
- 45:48Speaker 2: from that they have all the pieces there. The only
- 45:49Speaker 2: thing I'm missing was the quarterback.
- 46:01Speaker 1: New Orleans Saints. Can't stand them, don't like them, feel irrelevant,
- 46:05Speaker 1: can't tell you a single move they've made that is
- 46:07Speaker 1: worth talking about. Seven and a half wins, it's juiced
- 46:10Speaker 1: to the over. They had a chance to close the
- 46:13Speaker 1: door on this division last year and just did not
- 46:15Speaker 1: make any moves at all. Plus three fifty to win
- 46:18Speaker 1: the South Danny fire away.
- 46:21Speaker 3: Pass, It's yeah.
- 46:23Speaker 4: There's first round pick filled the biggest need on the
- 46:27Speaker 4: team at right tackle.
- 46:30Speaker 3: So I liked the logic.
- 46:32Speaker 4: I'm always like a best draft, best player available at
- 46:34Speaker 4: a position of need. Don't just say best player available, No,
- 46:37Speaker 4: you got to do it at a position of need.
- 46:39Speaker 4: So I thought that that was sensible. I still think
- 46:42Speaker 4: Kamara is spectacular when healthy, but I'm a pass on
- 46:47Speaker 4: the Saints this year.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Simon, I'll pass her now, but there's like a ninety
- 46:52Speaker 2: five chance. I bet these guys win this division in August.
- 46:55Speaker 2: It's just I love I love all.
- 46:57Speaker 1: You are a sucker. You are a sucker. And you
- 46:59Speaker 1: did the same thing last year.
- 47:00Speaker 2: This this division, this thou it is where it's like
- 47:03Speaker 2: my mistake was everyone kept saying you gotta bet the bucks,
- 47:06Speaker 2: the bucks of the team for this division. I was
- 47:08Speaker 2: just like, they sucked, there's no chance. It's the same
- 47:10Speaker 2: conversation now we're having about the Saints. They sucked, there's
- 47:12Speaker 2: no chance. So this division is stupid. Chad set it
- 47:15Speaker 2: off the top. This is this stupid division. Stupid things happen.
- 47:19Speaker 2: We spent three months arguing Atlanta and the Saints and
- 47:22Speaker 2: both were totally irrelevant and ended up being Tampa. So yeah,
- 47:26Speaker 2: I'll pass for now, but probably end up.
- 47:28Speaker 3: On the Saints.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Dennis Allen terrible coach. You should not bet on Carolina
- 47:32Speaker 1: four and a half wins, juiced to the over, Give
- 47:36Speaker 1: me the under, give me the under. I'll find an
- 47:39Speaker 1: alt line of three and a half. I might take
- 47:40Speaker 1: that too, Like no belief in this team whatsoever?
- 47:45Speaker 3: Wow, there we go.
- 47:47Speaker 4: Uh, I'm not interested in the over unders on four
- 47:52Speaker 4: and a half is scary.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:55Speaker 4: I liked that they traded back into the first round
- 47:57Speaker 4: to take Lagett like to you know, they're trying to
- 48:00Speaker 4: give Bryce Young some help, but this is too little,
- 48:05Speaker 4: too late.
- 48:06Speaker 3: I think for him. He's what an awful off.
- 48:08Speaker 4: Everything I said about the situation, Kayleb Williams is walking into.
- 48:11Speaker 3: It's the exact opposite for poor little Bryce Young.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Aaron Yeah, yeah, big sucks. We'll spend more in the
- 48:18Speaker 2: summer on this team, but I'll pass like there's nothing
- 48:20Speaker 2: to talk about.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Onto the NFC West. The Rams eight and a half
- 48:25Speaker 1: wins Juice to the Over. We don't know the impact
- 48:29Speaker 1: of Aaron Donald retiring, but at times he was the
- 48:34Speaker 1: thing that kept that defense together when they had nothing else.
- 48:38Speaker 1: So I'm a little wary of this team, even though
- 48:41Speaker 1: I love everything about their offense. Simon, I'll start with you.
- 48:45Speaker 1: I know you're always a backer of the Rams, or
- 48:47Speaker 1: at least like what they tend to do. I know
- 48:49Speaker 1: you like Stafford. You have any thoughts on this team?
- 48:52Speaker 1: Any of the Markets eight and a half wins plus
- 48:54Speaker 1: three fifty Stafford twenty five to one win. MVP Jared
- 48:58Speaker 1: Verse first round pick defensive end thoughts.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it didn't didn't take them on division. Didn't think
- 49:05Speaker 2: the value was there. Well, last year we were getting
- 49:07Speaker 2: ten to one at this point on them for the division.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Now they're three to one, four to one. It's just
- 49:12Speaker 2: the value is not there for how good the forty
- 49:14Speaker 2: nine ers aren't. Just how more of a complete team there?
- 49:16Speaker 2: And see I just said they lost the best defender
- 49:18Speaker 2: in football, So yeah, I'll take their over wins. We
- 49:21Speaker 2: won't spend again too much time on it, but yeah,
- 49:24Speaker 2: it's a team that I had a ton of high
- 49:26Speaker 2: hopes that end of the season. You can't fight the
- 49:29Speaker 2: fact they're losing. Aaron Donald's a huge deal, especially in
- 49:32Speaker 2: that division where they're going up against that forty nine
- 49:34Speaker 2: ers team, where it's like he's the guy in the
- 49:36Speaker 2: middle that people won't believe it, but he actually did
- 49:39Speaker 2: plug up a lot of holes. Now that's gone. I mean,
- 49:41Speaker 2: they do have good defensive tackles on the RAMS team,
- 49:44Speaker 2: but obviously nothing compares to him. So Chad, Chad's being
- 49:47Speaker 2: a little weary of this team, is Warranton.
- 49:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm wary. That's a wise guy talking right there. Dang,
- 49:53Speaker 1: are you a wise guy?
- 49:55Speaker 3: I really like the Rams. I don't hate.
- 49:58Speaker 4: I don't hate Stafford at twenty five to one actual
- 50:00Speaker 4: for MVP. I think he is still just a special player.
- 50:04Speaker 4: And with Nikua and Kupp and McVeigh, I loved. I
- 50:08Speaker 4: loved their whole offseason. Jonah Jackson one of the best guards.
- 50:13Speaker 3: Get him. Kevin Dotson re signed him. He played very
- 50:16Speaker 3: well for them.
- 50:16Speaker 4: Didn't even let him hit the window where he can
- 50:19Speaker 4: negotiate with anyone else. So like protect Stafford. Okay, Aaron
- 50:23Speaker 4: Donald's gone draft Jared Verse to pair with Byron Young.
- 50:28Speaker 4: Draft the kid Brayden Fisk who had six sacks each
- 50:31Speaker 4: of the last two years as an interior defensive lineman,
- 50:33Speaker 4: who was versus teammate in college. Like Donald, big need
- 50:36Speaker 4: attack it with high draft picks, protect Stafford, attack it
- 50:40Speaker 4: with guards. I even like the Jimmy g signing. Like, Okay,
- 50:44Speaker 4: Stafford gets hurt for a game or two, bring in
- 50:46Speaker 4: someone who can can keep you afloat Tradavius White at
- 50:50Speaker 4: corner on a one year deal. I liked, like just
- 50:53Speaker 4: I loved their approach to the offseason. So I'll be
- 50:57Speaker 4: on there over for the win total, and then my
- 50:59Speaker 4: law out for them will probably be the Stafford MVP
- 51:04Speaker 4: play or maybe passing yards leader play for Stafford. I'm
- 51:08Speaker 4: I'm very bullish on the Rams this year.
- 51:10Speaker 1: I agree with you on Stafford, and Simon loves Stafford.
- 51:13Speaker 1: He feel the same way that you do about sort
- 51:15Speaker 1: of how good this guy is. I like that play
- 51:18Speaker 1: at twenty five to one. I think that's that's a
- 51:20Speaker 1: smart one. I want to end with with San Francisco
- 51:24Speaker 1: because they've got sort of very high ratings in terms
- 51:27Speaker 1: of being one of the best teams in the NFL.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Seattle new coach, new offensive coordinator, a lot of new
- 51:36Speaker 1: planning being done there. Seven and a half wins juiced
- 51:40Speaker 1: to the over. It's a pass for me. Too many
- 51:44Speaker 1: questions about how they're going to transition in a division
- 51:48Speaker 1: where I think they're probably the third best team. I pass.
- 51:51Speaker 2: Yeah, they're a team that I'm I'm literally just on
- 51:56Speaker 2: the edge of moving the Cardinals above them, like that's
- 51:59Speaker 2: they're just they just keep slowly dropping down my board
- 52:02Speaker 2: where it's like this this team there is. There are
- 52:05Speaker 2: things to like there with Seattle, but it all comes
- 52:08Speaker 2: back to Gino and I do think it was just
- 52:10Speaker 2: a one year, one year chat and he got paid
- 52:12Speaker 2: off of it and Yeah, the guy might have a
- 52:14Speaker 2: seventy percent complete percentage on those really tough third downs.
- 52:19Speaker 2: You just don't have faith in him to make a
- 52:20Speaker 2: play that you know you need guys to make an
- 52:22Speaker 2: NFL that's so many, so many of these games come
- 52:25Speaker 2: down to third down plays in the fourth quarter. And
- 52:27Speaker 2: he just consistency last year was not him. He just
- 52:30Speaker 2: was not consistent last year. So seven and a half.
- 52:33Speaker 2: I'll take the under here. You know, I'm not gonna
- 52:36Speaker 2: not gonna bet them yet to have the worst record
- 52:40Speaker 2: in football. But it's a sneaky play, like this is
- 52:42Speaker 2: the team that there is a little bit of that
- 52:44Speaker 2: where it's like they got rid of Pete who kind
- 52:47Speaker 2: of held it all together for all these years, and
- 52:48Speaker 2: now they're bringing a new guy who could be great,
- 52:50Speaker 2: but this also could be an absolute train wreck. So
- 52:52Speaker 2: this is a sneaky team for being the worst team
- 52:54Speaker 2: of football.
- 52:55Speaker 4: Danny, Yeah, I'm a pass on Seattle and i I'm
- 53:00Speaker 4: a I'm an overplayer on the Cardinals. Just to kind
- 53:03Speaker 4: of combine those two in your points. The Cardinals were
- 53:08Speaker 4: the best running team in the NFL when Kyler was healthy,
- 53:10Speaker 4: So I mean, the if Kyler's healthy thing is obviously
- 53:13Speaker 4: a huge delta. We understand that, but Marvin Harrison Junior
- 53:18Speaker 4: will be an impact rookie. They had eleven draft picks,
- 53:22Speaker 4: so they're gonna They're gonna be good there and when healthy.
- 53:25Speaker 4: Their offense was really good second year in the system. Also,
- 53:28Speaker 4: I think I think helps because there was clearly a
- 53:30Speaker 4: big adjustment there with the system change on offense last year.
- 53:34Speaker 4: So I'll sell Seattle and buy Arizona.
- 53:39Speaker 1: I like that you're combining them because Simon just did
- 53:41Speaker 1: that and talked about them moving up a little bit.
- 53:43Speaker 1: And when he said that, I looked at Arizona's win
- 53:46Speaker 1: total six and a half wins. This is a team
- 53:50Speaker 1: that competed and like everyone talked about last year, Shane
- 53:52Speaker 1: Steiken being the key with Eagles had done the year
- 53:55Speaker 1: before and how good he was with the Colts, Gannon
- 53:58Speaker 1: had this team plan hard and playing close and winning
- 54:02Speaker 1: games they shouldn't have won. Simon, do you have strong
- 54:05Speaker 1: thoughts on any Arizona futures right now?
- 54:09Speaker 2: No, I'll pass for now, but they're definitely a team
- 54:11Speaker 2: that's I talked to book makers they are probably number
- 54:15Speaker 2: one or number two. Most bet public side were over
- 54:18Speaker 2: like the public just loves them for what you just
- 54:21Speaker 2: talked about. They have memories of you know, they won
- 54:23Speaker 2: games against the Cowboys without you know, with their third
- 54:27Speaker 2: stringer in there, and how they came back and he
- 54:29Speaker 2: played all right. Now, they drafted him a top up
- 54:31Speaker 2: on the outside chat. So yeah, just really quick, I
- 54:34Speaker 2: would say, totally get it. If you want to bet
- 54:35Speaker 2: they're over for me, I'm going to pass for now
- 54:37Speaker 2: and just look more into it.
- 54:38Speaker 1: All right. Last team San Francisco forty nine ers. Simon
- 54:41Speaker 1: just revealed there the top rated team in his team
- 54:46Speaker 1: rankings in the NFL, just ahead of the Eagles and
- 54:49Speaker 1: the Lions. Juice to the under at eleven and a
- 54:51Speaker 1: half wins brought Party fourteen to one to win MVP. Look,
- 54:56Speaker 1: last year we were looking at Brock Party to win
- 54:59Speaker 1: MVP at that number. When it got to about week ten,
- 55:04Speaker 1: I think, and we like the number. Then this team
- 55:07Speaker 1: is tailor made for him to be a really good
- 55:09Speaker 1: regular season quarterback and for him to put up guardy
- 55:12Speaker 1: numbers and for them to win a lot of games. Danny,
- 55:15Speaker 1: San Francisco forty nine ers could be the Bear's biggest
- 55:18Speaker 1: obstacle to winning it all.
- 55:20Speaker 4: What a great NFC Championship game matchup. How do you
- 55:23Speaker 4: think Niners fans will feel about being a nine and
- 55:25Speaker 4: a half point underdog in that game? The Niners are
- 55:28Speaker 4: obviously an awesome team with an awesome coach, and I'm
- 55:31Speaker 4: like the last person who's believing that the clock is
- 55:34Speaker 4: going to strike midnight on brock Purty because the value
- 55:37Speaker 4: of what he can do is incredible and for one
- 55:39Speaker 4: million dollars, it's the best value in the NFL. And
- 55:42Speaker 4: I get why it's all successful, but I'm just like, Eh,
- 55:46Speaker 4: at some point, the wheels are going to come off.
- 55:48Speaker 3: It doesn't make any damn sense.
- 55:50Speaker 4: I just wouldn't invest in a team that has this
- 55:53Speaker 4: much popularity behind it, like they're minus two hundred to
- 55:59Speaker 4: win the division. I just won ninety one, ninety five whatever,
- 56:01Speaker 4: like wherever you're shopping, Like that's crazy. When we were
- 56:05Speaker 4: talking about Stafford and the value and the talent of
- 56:09Speaker 4: the other teams in the division, So I just I
- 56:11Speaker 4: don't think they're that good. They're very, very good, and
- 56:14Speaker 4: they consistently proved me wrong. I don't know that I've
- 56:16Speaker 4: lost more money on any other team in the NFL
- 56:18Speaker 4: the last two years than I have the San Francisco
- 56:20Speaker 4: forty nine.
- 56:21Speaker 1: Ers signing, you get the last word in the San
- 56:22Speaker 1: Francisco forty nine ers. You're number one team in the
- 56:24Speaker 1: NFL right now?
- 56:25Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty boring. I have done one team in football,
- 56:27Speaker 2: so yeah, taking their role obviously, I mean they're the
- 56:30Speaker 2: most complete team in all football, and they were a
- 56:34Speaker 2: couple couple better coaching decisions away from beating Mahomes in
- 56:38Speaker 2: the Super Bowl last year. It's just it all comes
- 56:40Speaker 2: down to Kyle the end of the day. He is
- 56:42Speaker 2: the one where you know, people want to get pretty
- 56:45Speaker 2: a lot of shit are not checking out of the
- 56:46Speaker 2: pass rush on different third downs. That's not really up
- 56:50Speaker 2: to Party. Like he's playing in a system, he doesn't
- 56:52Speaker 2: really have that kind of leverage yet as a that
- 56:54Speaker 2: was his first year as a starter. People like, I
- 56:56Speaker 2: think just people put too much on his plate. So
- 56:58Speaker 2: as some of that wanted to fade the four Niners
- 57:00Speaker 2: heavily last year because Party was coming off major elbow
- 57:03Speaker 2: surgery and it was just like people are putting a
- 57:05Speaker 2: lot of faith into a kid who's coming off big
- 57:07Speaker 2: surgery head into a season without any offseason work. Didn't
- 57:10Speaker 2: miss a beat. I think they dominated Pittsburgh week one
- 57:12Speaker 2: and and they were off and running. So yeah, love
- 57:15Speaker 2: this four Niners team. Only thing that's topping them is
- 57:18Speaker 2: just injury. They're they're just so well coached. They've just
- 57:21Speaker 2: drafted so well Lynch as well. So just an incredible team.
- 57:24Speaker 2: That's why I have them at number one.
- 57:26Speaker 1: All right, let me recap our passer play here. Dallas
- 57:30Speaker 1: under ten and a half, Danny likes plus one ninety five,
- 57:32Speaker 1: missed the plaffs, which I like a lot. Giants over
- 57:35Speaker 1: six and a half, maybe a little taste of ten
- 57:37Speaker 1: to one to win the Division, Eagles over ten and
- 57:40Speaker 1: a half, and to win the NFC East Chicago, what
- 57:45Speaker 1: are we going to do over eight and a half? Wins,
- 57:47Speaker 1: win the Super Bowl, win it all, be the greatest
- 57:49Speaker 1: team in the history of football.
- 57:51Speaker 3: Caleb Williams, they're seventeen and oh price is pretty juicy.
- 57:54Speaker 3: I gotta say.
- 57:54Speaker 1: Take that to Caleb Williams over thirty five hundred passing it.
- 57:57Speaker 1: That's a really good one. Danny parkins the only lock
- 58:00Speaker 1: of the show, Atlanta minus one twenty to win the AFC,
- 58:04Speaker 1: South rams over at a NFC South's right and South
- 58:08Speaker 1: does it. By the way, it doesn't matter to the
- 58:10Speaker 1: most irrelevant divisions in football. La Rams over eight and
- 58:13Speaker 1: a half wins Stafford twenty five to one win. MVP
- 58:15Speaker 1: Simon loves the Niners, betting them over eleven and a half.
