- 1:05Speaker 3: this four game road trip coming up, which begins tomorrow
- 1:08Speaker 3: against Detroit, after that Chicago, Pittsburgh and the New York Islanders.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Dave McCarthy of sirius XM NHL Network Radio joining us
- 1:17Speaker 3: here on the drop a little bit later on. We're
- 1:20Speaker 3: gonna get to some highlights in just a bit. But
- 1:22Speaker 3: last week you couldn't paint maybe a better picture than
- 1:25Speaker 3: five points possibly out of six with a Kraken coming
- 1:28Speaker 3: back home to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets, Winnipeg Jets,
- 1:32Speaker 3: and San Jose Sharks, and maybe faltering a bit in
- 1:35Speaker 3: a very winnable game last Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets,
- 1:39Speaker 3: but rebounding swiftly to beat Winnipeg convincingly and then dishout
- 1:45Speaker 3: some payback against the San Jose Sharks, all the while
- 1:48Speaker 3: still trying to navigate additions and losses in their lineup,
- 1:53Speaker 3: the latter, of course, due to injury. Could Jared mccannb
- 1:56Speaker 3: be back though soon along the way, Could Joy the
- 1:58Speaker 3: Core be back soon as well? Lane Lambert's got more
- 2:02Speaker 3: on that we'll hear from him and justin bit as
- 2:03Speaker 3: he met with the media in Detroit earlier today. But
- 2:06Speaker 3: Here's how matters progressed with the Kraken back home, looking
- 2:10Speaker 3: to swipe as many points off the table and stay
- 2:13Speaker 3: in the thick of the race right now, time for
- 2:17Speaker 3: second in the Pacific Division and continuing a trend at
- 2:20Speaker 3: home at six one and three, which shows they are
- 2:23Speaker 3: in games and in them to win them.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Eight seven shots cracketly there. Ben Myers gets loose for
- 2:30Speaker 4: Winter ten. Stop Winter is coming.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Ryan Winter ten gets it started here in Seattle three
- 2:45Speaker 5: seventeen to play in the first one.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Nothing cracking.
- 2:49Speaker 6: We just talked about how much I'd like this fourth
- 2:51Speaker 6: line combination. Right now, what in the ace? You get
- 2:53Speaker 6: a big safe by Matt Murray. The other end goes
- 2:55Speaker 6: to fourth line.
- 2:56Speaker 4: They equal to work.
- 2:57Speaker 6: Ben Myers picking that fuck up top of the circles.
- 3:00Speaker 6: He's gonna lead in the net like you did earlier.
- 3:02Speaker 4: He sells the shot and at the last second back end.
- 3:05Speaker 6: Over to widgeted one timer past greaves one nuff you crack.
- 3:09Speaker 7: Mark Schenko through center. He's got Fantilly Fan Tilly gets.
- 3:13Speaker 5: By backhand fix same by Matt Murray. He goes down
- 3:19Speaker 5: and stones Fan Tilly's back hand right hand.
- 3:22Speaker 2: It's Charlie Coyle waits for the signal.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Coil picks up with the pucket.
- 3:28Speaker 7: He'll bring it near signe Coil into the circle, back
- 3:32Speaker 7: to the hashbargs.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Row slots shot off the bar.
- 3:35Speaker 5: He scores, and the Columbus Blue Jackets take the extra
- 3:40Speaker 5: point in the shootout.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Final two one.
- 3:43Speaker 7: Pushing a turn old in the offensive end. Here is
- 3:47Speaker 7: it's done from the near side Schwartz.
- 3:49Speaker 5: Since Stone tane Schwartz right circle toward the goal. Copocco
- 4:02Speaker 5: got a piece of it on the way through, and
- 4:05Speaker 5: the Seattle Cracket tied the game.
- 4:07Speaker 4: One one four forty five left it period number one.
- 4:12Speaker 6: Well Channer students and the bitch does doing a nice
- 4:14Speaker 6: little criss cross the blue line. Dune picks up dot puck.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Slides it down to Schwartz.
- 4:19Speaker 6: Schwartz does what we've been talking about, puts one hard
- 4:22Speaker 6: on that Copo Cocko's up front, get the piece of it.
- 4:25Speaker 2: This game is tight and one done.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Left wings to the front of the net, goes Winterton.
- 4:29Speaker 5: Shot put up over, It's done, crashes the goal. Ryan Winterton,
- 4:42Speaker 5: with the shot done, follows it up and he'll loft
- 4:45Speaker 5: it over the head and down the rainbow on Connor
- 4:50Speaker 5: Helli buck We're.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Tied it too well.
- 4:53Speaker 6: Jee Jet's defense breaks breaks down four season front the net.
- 4:56Speaker 6: He doesn't know to go to Schwartz or to drop
- 4:58Speaker 6: down to Winterard, and to go to s leaves Winterton
- 5:01Speaker 6: wide open to step out and put a puck on
- 5:03Speaker 6: that issue, said vice. Dunne crashes down, finds that rebound
- 5:07Speaker 6: beats Hellibuck over the.
- 5:08Speaker 7: Shoulder, two two outs, toll of it back to the
- 5:11Speaker 7: point Vince dun straightaway tallman.
- 5:13Speaker 4: It shouts stood.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Helly Tlbanen with a rocket from the right side. It's
- 5:26Speaker 5: a power play goal. Fifteen forty nine to play in
- 5:30Speaker 5: the third.
- 5:31Speaker 6: We're tied at three, but much look the same goal
- 5:33Speaker 6: Elliethoven scored the other day.
- 5:35Speaker 1: It's just on a power play.
- 5:36Speaker 6: Top of the circles, cracking and moving the puck around
- 5:39Speaker 6: the perimeter. But it gets back to Vince dun at
- 5:41Speaker 6: the point he sends it down to tolban In on
- 5:43Speaker 6: that right circle. He puts everything into it, beating Hillibluck
- 5:46Speaker 6: plocker side down low.
- 5:47Speaker 7: This game is tight and mclears back to Marshman in
- 5:51Speaker 7: the circle. It's a hip check in the the master.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Calm down black.
- 5:57Speaker 6: Start.
- 6:03Speaker 8: Maddy vaneers top of the right circle.
- 6:06Speaker 5: He finds every down lo tick tack goal the captain.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Let's the Cracking on top by.
- 6:12Speaker 5: A four to three score.
- 6:13Speaker 6: Well, this one starts with a Mason Marshman down that
- 6:16Speaker 6: right side. He turns his body to protect the puck,
- 6:18Speaker 6: gets it back to Matty Veneers as Jordan Nibley is
- 6:22Speaker 6: swinging around the backside of the dead We had a
- 6:24Speaker 6: great angle for him. From up here you can see
- 6:26Speaker 6: Maddie waiting for Jordan Nibley to get into position.
- 6:29Speaker 1: As soon as he was.
- 6:30Speaker 6: There, boom on a stick, tap of the net for
- 6:32Speaker 6: three crackt re Seattle, extra attacker off for Winnipeg.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Ryan Lingrett, he'll push it up the boards Winnipeg.
- 6:39Speaker 9: Not a little hold the line.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Matt Eveneers near side the captain box in stood back
- 6:53Speaker 4: to back goals for the captain. He's got two.
- 6:57Speaker 5: The cracking ahead by too five three, one thirty five
- 7:03Speaker 5: left at Seattle.
- 7:04Speaker 6: One of the ways the Cracker we're gonna have to
- 7:05Speaker 6: win this game was puck battles. In that time there
- 7:08Speaker 6: not even ears with a puck battle win along the boards,
- 7:10Speaker 6: pokes it forward, finds deffinitely over the far side of
- 7:13Speaker 6: the ice, all by himself empty net goal for seven.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Second at goal.
- 7:18Speaker 6: For seven iss into by Matt Evaneers five three.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Cracking Seattle back.
- 7:23Speaker 7: Is Chandler Stevenson right circle, centering faded crack.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Chaden Schwartz the back tour Tapan.
- 7:38Speaker 5: After Chandler Stevenson went around John Klaiberg, Schwartz finishes to
- 7:43Speaker 5: play one nothing cracket eleven forty six to play in
- 7:47Speaker 5: the first.
- 7:48Speaker 6: A great outlet pass by Alexiak through the neutral zone
- 7:50Speaker 6: cross fights Jenner. Stevenson has a full head of steam.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Going down that right side. He's a left hit and shot.
- 7:56Speaker 6: He puts it over the far side of the ice
- 7:58Speaker 6: where Schwartz is right Harden than that easy tap him
- 8:02Speaker 6: one up.
- 8:02Speaker 4: In fraggles eight sets up the puck on the left side.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Here's ex him near side Cello.
- 8:08Speaker 5: Brady clove save bye girlour my, oh my, hi wow
- 8:15Speaker 5: a goal.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Line Marshmitt down low.
- 8:17Speaker 2: He sends it up top to Larsen.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Right side shot stove.
- 8:28Speaker 5: The big cat Adam Larsen on the prowl. Three fifty
- 8:33Speaker 5: five left here in the second, it's a two to
- 8:36Speaker 5: one Seattle lead.
- 8:37Speaker 6: Well, fantastic offense is on pressure by Seattle.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Maddy Beers.
- 8:41Speaker 6: Maddy paneers with some spectacular work below the goal line.
- 8:45Speaker 6: He gets it out to Adam Larson from Marchmant and
- 8:48Speaker 6: Larson steps into a shot, beating the Delkovic top shelf,
- 8:52Speaker 6: his first of the season.
- 8:54Speaker 5: Two under the near side crack and get it out
- 8:56Speaker 5: two on one Stevenson left side, tolming it Farsark j
- 9:01Speaker 5: down town.
- 9:02Speaker 10: He's Ellie Golvin in now points and six of his
- 9:12Speaker 10: last nine.
- 9:13Speaker 5: The Cracking go back to back up up pair.
- 9:17Speaker 6: Three one a great Son exit from the cracking end
- 9:20Speaker 6: of the ice, Doulton Chandler Stevenson, he's got an option
- 9:22Speaker 6: for a shot he elects. Defeated over to Ellie Tovenan
- 9:25Speaker 6: on the sea path.
- 9:26Speaker 1: One timer.
- 9:27Speaker 6: This is three one fracking now.
- 9:29Speaker 7: Al semmer Bride, they'll shoot that one blocked in front, Adam.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Larsen down to one bead.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Ryan Lingert slaps it up the board Seattle Towardy.
- 9:36Speaker 8: After that, Jaden Schwartz has got two and the Seattle
- 9:49Speaker 8: Cracking go up four one.
- 9:52Speaker 4: With three twenty nine to play in regulation.
- 9:56Speaker 6: Well, there's that hard work I talked about. This time
- 9:58Speaker 6: it's Ryan Lingard in the corner going to battle and
- 10:00Speaker 6: getting the puck up the boards and who's waiting for
- 10:02Speaker 6: it there, James Schwartz and he AMers this puck down
- 10:06Speaker 6: the ice into the open cage for one cracket.
- 10:10Speaker 11: I just wanted to be a hard team to play against.
- 10:12Speaker 11: How do you feel that team's progressing in that regard.
- 10:15Speaker 12: I think we're doing a good job.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Our guys.
- 10:19Speaker 12: You know, they are committed. They've done a good job
- 10:23Speaker 12: of that, and I feel like, you know, they're starting
- 10:26Speaker 12: to take ownership of the way we play. So I
- 10:31Speaker 12: think we've done a good job.
- 10:32Speaker 11: You've the last couple of times you've talked to the media,
- 10:35Speaker 11: you've mentioned right as a shooter. What is your take
- 10:40Speaker 11: on that?
- 10:40Speaker 2: That is it?
- 10:41Speaker 11: His shot? Is his his ability to know when to shoot?
- 10:44Speaker 11: What what makes him a shooter?
- 10:46Speaker 12: I think it's his shot, you know, and he does
- 10:50Speaker 12: have a pretty a decent knack for knowing when to shoot.
- 10:52Speaker 12: Although we're still working with him, I think we can
- 10:54Speaker 12: help him out in that manner, you know, And as
- 10:59Speaker 12: he gets used to the wing here a little bit,
- 11:02Speaker 12: I think you'll find different areas of different ways to
- 11:04Speaker 12: get his shot off.
- 11:06Speaker 11: Anything obviously home standing, get five ou to six points,
- 11:09Speaker 11: anything that you wanted to work on both today or
- 11:12Speaker 11: on this road trip to be better that they're coming
- 11:15Speaker 11: out of that Homestand.
- 11:17Speaker 12: Yeah, I think we want to work on being better
- 11:19Speaker 12: and in a lot of different areas, you know. I thought,
- 11:23Speaker 12: you know, at the start of the game last game,
- 11:25Speaker 12: and certainly at the start of the second period, we're
- 11:27Speaker 12: we're pretty I don't know if i'd use the word loose,
- 11:33Speaker 12: but you know, we gave up some opportunities and our
- 11:36Speaker 12: goaltender had to bail us out. So you know, we've
- 11:40Speaker 12: continued to talk about creating offense. We found a way
- 11:43Speaker 12: to score some goals the last couple of games. But
- 11:46Speaker 12: just because you know, you shut a team down, or
- 11:49Speaker 12: just because you score a few goals, doesn't mean you
- 11:51Speaker 12: don't have to continue working on each and every part
- 11:53Speaker 12: of your game.
- 11:55Speaker 7: Up on the quarter portal of the season, you talked
- 11:56Speaker 7: a little bit about play being hard to play against.
- 11:59Speaker 7: But outside of that, what are the areas you feel
- 12:02Speaker 7: from day one to now your team has improved the
- 12:05Speaker 7: most on and where do you feel this team can can.
- 12:07Speaker 13: Get better at?
- 12:09Speaker 1: Well?
- 12:10Speaker 12: I think we you know, I think defensively, we've done
- 12:14Speaker 12: a pretty decent job, you know, with with how we
- 12:19Speaker 12: want to play. I think there's been you know, there's
- 12:23Speaker 12: been improvements from day one, and again, like I said,
- 12:25Speaker 12: it's just you have to continue to to work on things,
- 12:28Speaker 12: continue to improve on things, you know, through the neutral zone.
- 12:32Speaker 12: I think we're doing a decent job. I think, you know,
- 12:34Speaker 12: I think we we try to play fast. I think
- 12:37Speaker 12: there's some nights when we can play faster and then
- 12:43Speaker 12: you know, offensively, that'll help piggyback our offense and and
- 12:47Speaker 12: you know, help us score more. But certainly, you know,
- 12:52Speaker 12: there's it's it's it's always a work in progress, and
- 12:56Speaker 12: I think the guys have I think they've done a
- 12:58Speaker 12: good job to this point. But that's just to this point,
- 13:01Speaker 12: and you know, what happens from here is what matters you.
- 13:05Speaker 6: Maddie and Stevie on the PK looks like today for
- 13:08Speaker 6: a little bit. Is that just giving you a third
- 13:10Speaker 6: option or is that situational thing?
- 13:13Speaker 12: Well, they both play it anyways. You know today they
- 13:16Speaker 12: did it together simply because they were on the other
- 13:20Speaker 12: power play and we wanted them to get reps. So,
- 13:23Speaker 12: you know, typically if you're looking at our PK pairs,
- 13:27Speaker 12: you know, Chandler was starting with Karta and now Freddie is.
- 13:32Speaker 12: But you know the reason they were together today, that
- 13:35Speaker 12: two of them was because we you know, they had
- 13:38Speaker 12: just played on the Power Play and we wanted to
- 13:40Speaker 12: get them some reps on the Palley Kill.
- 13:43Speaker 11: Any updates you got two guys here, Decord and mccayn.
- 13:46Speaker 11: Any updates on those.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Two progressing nicely?
- 13:49Speaker 12: Both of them practice today, so you know, both of
- 13:53Speaker 12: them still on IR and we'll see where we go
- 13:55Speaker 12: here tomorrow, but certainly having them here and having them
- 13:58Speaker 12: in practice as a positive sign.
- 14:00Speaker 11: Back in Seattle, Coppo and Murray.
- 14:03Speaker 12: Yeah, Coppo is still week to week and Murray is
- 14:06Speaker 12: being evaluated. We don't have we don't have an update
- 14:09Speaker 12: on him until we get a little bit more information.
- 14:11Speaker 7: Looking at this road trip, do you break this down?
- 14:14Speaker 7: How do you break this road trip down? Is there
- 14:15Speaker 7: a baseline of points you're looking for? What's that goal
- 14:19Speaker 7: for you in these next four games?
- 14:22Speaker 12: You just take it one game at a time, and
- 14:24Speaker 12: you know, we we want to put our best foot
- 14:27Speaker 12: forward to try and win every every game we're in,
- 14:29Speaker 12: regardless of whether it's you know, this road trip or
- 14:32Speaker 12: a homestand or whatever we might whatever we might see.
- 14:35Speaker 12: So you know, there's the goal is to win every night,
- 14:41Speaker 12: you know, and I know you're not going to but
- 14:43Speaker 12: that's the goal and the focus is the next game.
- 14:45Speaker 1: All right.
- 14:46Speaker 3: That update from Crack and head coach Lane Lambert meeting
- 14:48Speaker 3: with the media after practice in Detroit earlier today with
- 14:52Speaker 3: the Kraken finishing the homestand two oh and one from
- 14:55Speaker 3: the highlights you heard and they shootout loss against Columbus
- 14:59Speaker 3: and then roaring back with a win over the Winnipeg
- 15:02Speaker 3: Jets and again San Jose dishing a little payback.
- 15:06Speaker 1: To finally get back. Now on the road.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Everett Al joining us now for the roundup. And fellas
- 15:13Speaker 3: we were talking about a week ago, where was the
- 15:15Speaker 3: bar set five points out of six. I'll get to
- 15:17Speaker 3: that here in just a little bit. But let's us
- 15:20Speaker 3: not burry the lead. Fence US back in Detroit. Fence
- 15:24Speaker 3: US back in Detroit. Sound the alarms, Walt, listen, Mike.
- 15:29Speaker 1: The parade, Bring out your friends. The parade's going now.
- 15:34Speaker 1: The parade last.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Night was really nice. The police escort from the airport
- 15:40Speaker 2: to the hotel was lovely.
- 15:42Speaker 7: I thought that the fireworks were a nice touch. The
- 15:45Speaker 7: fireworks were real nice touch. They brought out some Detroit legends.
- 15:49Speaker 7: Miguel Cabrera came back. Ben Wallace was there.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Nick Lidstrom was there as well.
- 15:55Speaker 7: Barry Sanders rarely see Barry Sanders in public, but he
- 15:59Speaker 7: was there also, So it was great to be welcomed
- 16:01Speaker 7: back home, befitting of me.
- 16:04Speaker 3: You know, when you can get Barry Sanders out to
- 16:08Speaker 3: a public event, your big time. So my only question
- 16:11Speaker 3: now is have you bought the extra bag to bring back.
- 16:13Speaker 1: The key to the city.
- 16:16Speaker 13: It's a digital key now.
- 16:19Speaker 3: They have that thing on the app now where you
- 16:21Speaker 3: have to scan it and you know, put put in
- 16:24Speaker 3: your face or your password. We can go off on
- 16:28Speaker 3: this for about an or twenty minutes here with a
- 16:29Speaker 3: digital landscape. But let's do this here. I think Al's
- 16:32Speaker 3: got to get to mom Spaghetti, that's the Eminem's restaurant
- 16:35Speaker 3: here in a little bit. We got to let him
- 16:37Speaker 3: go as well too, So we're gonna get right to everything.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Five points out of six fellas from this last week,
- 16:43Speaker 3: the Columbus game, the Winnipeg game, the San Jose game.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I admit to feeling a.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Little bit of peril after what I thought was a
- 16:50Speaker 3: very very winnable game against Columbus last week. But did
- 16:55Speaker 3: the cracknever turn the tables against Winnipeg and San Jose
- 17:00Speaker 3: to the point now where I'm already calling it this
- 17:04Speaker 3: is a team that is forming into something real. But
- 17:07Speaker 3: I was saying this last week. People take notes. The
- 17:10Speaker 3: Kraken are winning games when they aren't at their best.
- 17:14Speaker 3: And the more important part of this is they beat
- 17:17Speaker 3: a legit Winnipeg team. We know that that that they've
- 17:20Speaker 3: got their awards. But they are doing this now without
- 17:23Speaker 3: Jared McCann and we'll talk about this soon, but he
- 17:26Speaker 3: might be back. Largely without Freddie Gadreau and largely with
- 17:31Speaker 3: a goaltending situation in flux.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Last couple of weeks.
- 17:35Speaker 3: They haven't had to pitch perfect games against some very
- 17:38Speaker 3: very good teams to begin this season.
- 17:41Speaker 4: So I say, if folks enough respect, respect.
- 17:48Speaker 2: No respect, I tell you, I tell you they's crack
- 17:51Speaker 2: in here. No listen.
- 17:53Speaker 7: I think Seattle, they're playing the way that they have
- 17:57Speaker 7: to play.
- 17:57Speaker 13: Right.
- 17:58Speaker 7: You've got points in three straight, You've got points in
- 18:01Speaker 7: nine of your last eleven.
- 18:02Speaker 2: I think if you can.
- 18:04Speaker 7: Keep this up, you know, for every ten games, every
- 18:07Speaker 7: twenty points, if you're bringing home fifteen out of those
- 18:11Speaker 7: twenty points, fourteen out of those twenty points, you're going
- 18:15Speaker 7: to lose, you know, but if you can continue to
- 18:17Speaker 7: rack up points where it matters, I mean, you're still
- 18:20Speaker 7: going to be playing after April sixteenth. And I think
- 18:23Speaker 7: right now what they're doing is is exactly what we expected,
- 18:29Speaker 7: what we thought, and that was playing good hockey, that
- 18:32Speaker 7: was playing competitive hockey.
- 18:34Speaker 2: You know, say what you want about the offense the last.
- 18:37Speaker 7: Two games, it's come around with nine goals in two games.
- 18:40Speaker 2: But I do feel like this team is.
- 18:43Speaker 7: Doing exactly what I think was expected of them internally,
- 18:47Speaker 7: and that was playing good defense and being at every game.
- 18:52Speaker 6: Yeah, I would add to that, and I posted these
- 18:54Speaker 6: stats on Twitter yesterday that Seattle is the only team
- 18:58Speaker 6: with three goaltenders. With three goaltenders, but Seattle is the
- 19:01Speaker 6: only team with three cold goaltenders that have played five
- 19:04Speaker 6: games or more, all three of them that all have
- 19:07Speaker 6: nine hundred or better save percentages. There are other than
- 19:11Speaker 6: that three, but not all three of them have nine
- 19:13Speaker 6: hundred save percentages and they don't all have five games.
- 19:15Speaker 6: So what that tells me is that Seattle has a
- 19:18Speaker 6: three goalie system, which we've talked a lot about about
- 19:21Speaker 6: how long is this going to go in the season
- 19:23Speaker 6: that's currently paying off. It's paying off because Joey Tocord
- 19:27Speaker 6: goes out with an injury. Philip Grubauer plays some of
- 19:29Speaker 6: his best hockey that I've seen in two seasons. Matt
- 19:33Speaker 6: Murray looks fantastic. They're both filling the gap. Matt Murray
- 19:36Speaker 6: goes out and injured, Joey to Cord likely coming back
- 19:39Speaker 6: sometime this week. Like this three goalie system is paying
- 19:43Speaker 6: off right now in the month of November, and the
- 19:45Speaker 6: stats showing.
- 19:46Speaker 2: And I think you're getting with the three goalies. You're getting.
- 19:51Speaker 7: The performances that I think number one you would expect
- 19:54Speaker 7: to get, but you're also making life. I guess it's
- 19:58Speaker 7: a double edged sword, difficult or easy for management and coaches,
- 20:02Speaker 7: right because I mean it's easy because at least now
- 20:05Speaker 7: you know that you've got three goalies through the first
- 20:08Speaker 7: eighteen nineteen games.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Of the season. You know that you can put in
- 20:12Speaker 2: and get results.
- 20:13Speaker 7: But I also feel like you know, and I think
- 20:16Speaker 7: you and I al are on this same page, and
- 20:18Speaker 7: I think Mike hereer this as well. It still might
- 20:20Speaker 7: not be advantageous to carry three goalies into January, into
- 20:26Speaker 7: the Olympic break, So you would. You'd like to think
- 20:29Speaker 7: that there may have to be a decision at some
- 20:33Speaker 7: point made, But right now it's working and they're finding
- 20:36Speaker 7: ways to win.
- 20:37Speaker 2: And obviously, you know, I say this understanding how it sounds.
- 20:44Speaker 7: You're helped by the fact that there have been injuries,
- 20:46Speaker 7: which you don't ever want injuries. But when Joey goes
- 20:49Speaker 7: out for those four games, Matt Murray and Philip Gruenbauer come.
- 20:52Speaker 2: In or to play very very well, you know you're
- 20:56Speaker 2: you've got a good problem to have. But I also
- 20:59Speaker 2: still maybe go back to the I wonder how long
- 21:03Speaker 2: you can continue to have three goalies.
- 21:06Speaker 6: I'll add to what you said Thereret is when when
- 21:09Speaker 6: a Goldie goes out injured, you're not crossing your fingers
- 21:11Speaker 6: going gosh, I hope the backup can cover the lobo.
- 21:15Speaker 6: I hope the guys can really keep tucks. These guys
- 21:17Speaker 6: are playing fantastic even when you got one goalie out injured.
- 21:21Speaker 7: Yeah, and the last game Matt Murray goes out in
- 21:24Speaker 7: the last seventeen seconds of the game, I didn't have
- 21:28Speaker 7: the oh bleep feeling like, man, now you've got a
- 21:30Speaker 7: cold goalie coming in. You knew that Philip Gruenbauer played
- 21:34Speaker 7: really well his last game. I felt bad for him
- 21:37Speaker 7: because he got tested early in that second period and
- 21:40Speaker 7: the guy came in ice cold and he had to
- 21:42Speaker 7: make some, you know, really remarkable saves and he did
- 21:46Speaker 7: just that. But you're right like that, the confidence was there,
- 21:49Speaker 7: and I think a lot of that credit goes to
- 21:52Speaker 7: Collins Zulianello and and how he's been able to Goldie
- 21:55Speaker 7: coach for Seattle, how he's been able to manage the
- 21:58Speaker 7: loads and work with the goaltenders and all of that,
- 22:01Speaker 7: and you know, I think it's been a good system
- 22:04Speaker 7: so far.
- 22:04Speaker 3: The injuries are a part of this, which leads us
- 22:07Speaker 3: here from the goalie conversation and this caroussel into this
- 22:10Speaker 3: next one. Coppo conco is week to week. Jared mccam
- 22:14Speaker 3: we hinted at this maybe maybe not, but looking like
- 22:18Speaker 3: maybe he could be back here for this week.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Matt Murray. Status of courus very very very much up
- 22:23Speaker 1: in the air.
- 22:24Speaker 3: So depending upon when this gets sorted out, a decision
- 22:28Speaker 3: might have to come as far as this goalie caroussel.
- 22:30Speaker 3: But I touch on this with Coco out who's going
- 22:34Speaker 3: to be that next man up right now? Because I
- 22:36Speaker 3: think We've already sawd this part with Matty Baniers's line
- 22:40Speaker 3: he and Jordan Eberley, and to some degree, you have
- 22:42Speaker 3: to admit, last couple of games, Mason Marchman have looked great.
- 22:47Speaker 6: Mason Marshman has moved around the lineup a little bit,
- 22:49Speaker 6: and I think that you're starting to see a little
- 22:52Speaker 6: bit of what he can bring with this combination he's
- 22:55Speaker 6: on right now in Veneer's and every and if he
- 22:58Speaker 6: makes those other two guys better because of his big
- 23:01Speaker 6: man play, if his work along the boards, if getting
- 23:04Speaker 6: pucks to Maddie and Ebbs for shots on goal feeds
- 23:09Speaker 6: into his game, then I like it. But I think
- 23:11Speaker 6: that it's taken eighteen games to figure out where the
- 23:14Speaker 6: best spot for him is, and it looks like over
- 23:16Speaker 6: the last couple anyway, this might be the right spot.
- 23:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I think Marchman. I mean, it provides a really
- 23:23Speaker 7: good opportunity for him. I think, you know, I'm gonna
- 23:26Speaker 7: go back to Shane right, Ellie's Hobden. You know, Tolbanden
- 23:29Speaker 7: continues to get points, right, he's been. It was a
- 23:32Speaker 7: slow start to the season for him, but et has
- 23:35Speaker 7: found a way to get points. He's got points in
- 23:37Speaker 7: seven of his last nine.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I believe I have written out.
- 23:40Speaker 7: Yeah, seven of his last nine games, Hobanen has got points,
- 23:43Speaker 7: so he's his game is starting to come along. So
- 23:46Speaker 7: you know, I'm looking at him to step up, continue,
- 23:49Speaker 7: not not even step up, but continue his recent offensive success.
- 23:53Speaker 2: I'd love to see Shane Wright, you know, get a couple.
- 23:56Speaker 7: Of more and put himself, you know, back on the
- 23:59Speaker 7: score sheet, back to back games, three of every four games,
- 24:02Speaker 7: things like that. So there it does prevent or present
- 24:06Speaker 7: some opportunity. And also Yanni Newman. You know, I think
- 24:09Speaker 7: Yanni Neuman last game he only had five and a
- 24:11Speaker 7: half six minutes, so wondering, you know, what he can do,
- 24:14Speaker 7: how can he continue to improve and grow in his
- 24:17Speaker 7: role as well?
- 24:19Speaker 3: He only had eight shifts in that game. And Lane
- 24:21Speaker 3: Lambert explained more of this in post games, saying that
- 24:25Speaker 3: because the whole flux of penalties that really threw his
- 24:28Speaker 3: rotations at five on five for a loop, and unfortunately
- 24:31Speaker 3: Newman was the odd man out. So people watching the
- 24:33Speaker 3: game real time of thinking, okay, what did he do
- 24:37Speaker 3: to not earn more ice time out there? But if
- 24:41Speaker 3: you go back and think there is still there is
- 24:45Speaker 3: still a room for him because of his big frame
- 24:47Speaker 3: that he can use and then definitely his shot. So
- 24:51Speaker 3: the assumption would be coming up for Detroit this week,
- 24:55Speaker 3: coming up for Chicago, if you can keep playing stable
- 24:58Speaker 3: at five on five, very well be more chances for
- 25:01Speaker 3: Newman to be productive.
- 25:02Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a great comment, Mike, and you're right with
- 25:05Speaker 6: Ty Karche and Freddie Gadriau, the other two guys on
- 25:08Speaker 6: that Newman line doing penalty kill. If you take six
- 25:12Speaker 6: penalties in a game, they're playing an extra six minutes.
- 25:15Speaker 6: If you figure they're playing half the penalty kill, they're
- 25:17Speaker 6: playing on extra six minutes of hockey. So that coupled
- 25:20Speaker 6: with the six minutes they play five on five, there's
- 25:23Speaker 6: your difference right there. So it's not penalizing Yanni Neuman.
- 25:26Speaker 6: It's because he's not part of that special teams group
- 25:29Speaker 6: that had to play a lot in that sentas a game.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Now, here's the one thing about when Jared mccannon is
- 25:34Speaker 3: fit to get back into the lineup, who's going to
- 25:36Speaker 3: be the odd man out or who's going to maybe
- 25:39Speaker 3: feel that strongest sense of competition. Yanni Newman has a
- 25:43Speaker 3: specific fit for his type of game, especially here on
- 25:48Speaker 3: the power play. That's going to create a little more
- 25:51Speaker 3: internal competition. I would think, not just on special teams
- 25:54Speaker 3: because McCann fits back there, but also mccam is one
- 25:57Speaker 3: of your top six guys. Newman's more lotted up and
- 26:01Speaker 3: down the lineup right now.
- 26:02Speaker 7: Yeah, I think this when with McCann coming back, assuming
- 26:06Speaker 7: it's set some point on this road trip, we hope.
- 26:11Speaker 7: I think it presents an issue that you've got with
- 26:14Speaker 7: the goaltenders as well.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Right, it's a good problem to have. You don't envy it.
- 26:18Speaker 2: But I think for me, and when I say.
- 26:21Speaker 7: Odd Man out, I don't necessarily mean out of the lineup,
- 26:24Speaker 7: but maybe having to find a new spot as Mason
- 26:27Speaker 7: marshmot because right now he's on that top line with
- 26:30Speaker 7: Veneers and every well, nineteen ten and seven have had
- 26:33Speaker 7: a lot of chemistry and history together in the last
- 26:35Speaker 7: couple of years. So I think, you know, let's say,
- 26:39Speaker 7: for argument's sake, McCann comes back tomorrow against the Wings, right,
- 26:44Speaker 7: So then are you going to slide Marchment back to
- 26:47Speaker 7: the third line with you know Catten and right are you're.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Gonna put right back in the middle, move Catton to
- 26:54Speaker 2: the wings?
- 26:55Speaker 9: You know what?
- 26:55Speaker 2: I mean, like like, there's a lot that.
- 26:57Speaker 7: Could happen with that, and again this should just be
- 26:59Speaker 7: speculat but I think that's the spot where McCann's gonna go.
- 27:03Speaker 7: But as far as lineup goes, you know, maybe it
- 27:06Speaker 7: is Yannie Duman coming out.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Who knows.
- 27:09Speaker 6: Well, I would add to that and just say that,
- 27:11Speaker 6: you know, when I look at the lineup, I think
- 27:13Speaker 6: that Yanny Newman is probably the guy that gets moved
- 27:16Speaker 6: out of the lineup. You probably shift somebody from that
- 27:19Speaker 6: left side. You got Marchman, Schwartz, Tolbanan, and Kara whoever
- 27:23Speaker 6: can play the right wing shifts over. Okay, probably probably
- 27:27Speaker 6: tol Winterton comes down to that fourth line to fill
- 27:30Speaker 6: the new Newman slot. That opens up the slot from McCann.
- 27:33Speaker 6: And I don't disagree with you, Everett that I have
- 27:37Speaker 6: to think that that McCann starts in that top line
- 27:40Speaker 6: with Veneers Neverley, but maybe not. I mean it doesn't
- 27:44Speaker 6: play in the game. In the game in Detroit tomorrow
- 27:47Speaker 6: and March Vaneers Neverley put up three goals between the
- 27:50Speaker 6: three of them. Maybe you don't want to break that
- 27:52Speaker 6: up right away, but I gotta believe at some point
- 27:54Speaker 6: he ends up there.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I was gonna say too. I mean that that's the
- 27:57Speaker 2: perfect point.
- 27:58Speaker 7: If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right, I mean
- 28:00Speaker 7: you're fixing off really well. Yeah, exactly exactly if you
- 28:03Speaker 7: And that's where I think a lot of times we've
- 28:05Speaker 7: seen this with Dave Hackstall, with Dan Biosma.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Before.
- 28:09Speaker 7: You've played some good stretches of games with the lineup
- 28:12Speaker 7: that you have, you bring someone back into that lineup,
- 28:16Speaker 7: and now you're like, oh goodness, like, well, I really
- 28:18Speaker 7: don't want to break up X, Y and Z, but
- 28:21Speaker 7: you know, yeah X is in so and so spot,
- 28:24Speaker 7: but X works really well. So again it's those puzzle
- 28:27Speaker 7: pieces and yeah, McCann's got to come back in.
- 28:30Speaker 2: But like you said, they're coming off of a five
- 28:33Speaker 2: point night.
- 28:34Speaker 7: Let's say, do you really want to break that line
- 28:37Speaker 7: up on what would that be Thursday in Chicago?
- 28:40Speaker 2: Again, assuming he comes back in tomorrow, we're gonna get just.
- 28:44Speaker 6: As simple as stock wrecking them one through twelve. That's saying, okay,
- 28:47Speaker 6: number twelve, you get bumped, and you know you've got
- 28:49Speaker 6: to figure out who's playing best with who. Sorry, Mike, go.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Exactly we're gonna get to Dave McCarthy in a little bit.
- 28:54Speaker 3: He's been doing his homework on this team and has
- 28:56Speaker 3: got a great based viewpoint of the Western and Eastern
- 28:59Speaker 3: Conference as well in a pretty important matter we're touching
- 29:01Speaker 3: on as far as what's coming up here for the
- 29:03Speaker 3: crack and on this next swing. Dave McCarthy again joining
- 29:06Speaker 3: us here from sirius XM NHL Network Radio. In just
- 29:10Speaker 3: a bit, I want to touch on Freddie Gudreaux because
- 29:13Speaker 3: I mentioned, in comparison to a guy like Ryker Evans,
- 29:18Speaker 3: there's really not so much a D man that you're
- 29:20Speaker 3: putting in like Evans where you're gonna see a boltload
- 29:23Speaker 3: of points. Like say, I'm just using the extreme version here,
- 29:27Speaker 3: Cale mccarr, but he makes this defense and this team
- 29:31Speaker 3: much more mobile, especially breaking out of their zone. Likewise,
- 29:35Speaker 3: with Freddy Gadreau, there's an impact you feel sometimes that
- 29:39Speaker 3: will reach deeper numbers or not even hit the stat
- 29:42Speaker 3: sheet as well. I go back and think, first off,
- 29:45Speaker 3: the face offs that will come around. He had a
- 29:48Speaker 3: rough night against San Jose, but that's gonna eventually turn
- 29:51Speaker 3: around because he's your most important faceoff guy, arguably taking
- 29:54Speaker 3: more heat off of Chandler Stephenson. Then there's this impact
- 29:58Speaker 3: I think Shorthanded and the one show he nearly put
- 30:01Speaker 3: on taking the puck away from Will Smith, taking off
- 30:05Speaker 3: of a breakaway and just missing under the bar on
- 30:08Speaker 3: Alex Nadalkovich. He's not going to pop your thirty goals
- 30:11Speaker 3: a year. He still could hit fifteen to twenty, but
- 30:14Speaker 3: there's so much more he does to help keep this
- 30:18Speaker 3: lineup together, which is why he was such a welcomed addition.
- 30:23Speaker 6: Yeah, we had a chance to talk to him a
- 30:24Speaker 6: little bit today in the media scrum, and you just
- 30:26Speaker 6: get a sense from listening to him that he knows
- 30:29Speaker 6: his role, he knows what he brings to a team,
- 30:33Speaker 6: and he wants to show it every single game, whether
- 30:35Speaker 6: that is winning a face off, whether that is getting
- 30:37Speaker 6: an odd breakaway, contributing on the score sheet when he
- 30:40Speaker 6: can making his linemates better. He's not looking to crack
- 30:43Speaker 6: the top line, even the second second line. He wants
- 30:46Speaker 6: to play the best hockey he can possibly play on
- 30:48Speaker 6: the fourth line and contribute as a fourth liner.
- 30:51Speaker 2: And I love that about him.
- 30:53Speaker 7: Yeah, I think the cracking had been very lucky to
- 30:55Speaker 7: have Goodreau and Ben Myers in that fourth line center spot.
- 31:00Speaker 2: They've really been able to hold the four down.
- 31:02Speaker 7: And I think for me, just having watched Ben Myers' game,
- 31:06Speaker 7: the only difference.
- 31:07Speaker 2: That I see between those two is just that Freddy's.
- 31:10Speaker 7: Been doing it longer and then he's a bit more refined, right,
- 31:12Speaker 7: So I think with Freddy coming back in, it was
- 31:15Speaker 7: a little seamless at least for me. But I thought, Freddy,
- 31:18Speaker 7: you know he got that breakaway, right, there are a
- 31:20Speaker 7: few other additional things he could do on the PK.
- 31:22Speaker 7: I think he got five PK shifts in that game, right,
- 31:26Speaker 7: So you're seeing the more refined bottom six grinding role
- 31:33Speaker 7: that he can play, and ultimately it led his success.
- 31:35Speaker 7: I mean, you don't score last season eighteen goals, two
- 31:38Speaker 7: years before that nineteen goals, Like that's not an accident.
- 31:41Speaker 7: That's because of how he plays. You're not getting, you know,
- 31:45Speaker 7: thirty seven plus points in three of your last four
- 31:49Speaker 7: years on accident.
- 31:50Speaker 3: And that's so important because the way that this team
- 31:52Speaker 3: has to operate, there's no bona fide, elite level top
- 31:56Speaker 3: line superstar here to carry them in games like Ronto
- 32:00Speaker 3: Can Edmonton, Cam Toronto.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Who's got there?
- 32:03Speaker 3: She still has Austin Matthews though, even if Guinny Malkin,
- 32:06Speaker 3: who's found the fountain of youth with Sidney Crosby out
- 32:08Speaker 3: in Pittsburgh.
- 32:08Speaker 1: To keep them right now in the conversation, so.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Goodrou is a very important part of this here as
- 32:12Speaker 3: far as the depth side of things, before we get
- 32:16Speaker 3: to Dave McCarthy. Big names off the board. Recently here
- 32:19Speaker 3: I took note of in the NHL where we were
- 32:21Speaker 3: thinking of this is going to be the land of
- 32:23Speaker 3: milk and hunting here for free agency this next summer.
- 32:26Speaker 3: It is drawing up awfully fast. Adrian kemp Age just
- 32:31Speaker 3: signing his extension with the Kings. Add to that Jack
- 32:35Speaker 3: Eichel is now extended. Carell Capri saw the Minnesota Martin Nhius,
- 32:40Speaker 3: Connor McDavid. The one and only the last set of
- 32:44Speaker 3: names available right now are Timmy Peneren who is thirty four,
- 32:48Speaker 3: Rasmus Anderson, Alex Tuck, Mike Matheson, John Carlson, Nick Schmaltz,
- 32:55Speaker 3: Adam Lowry and Malkin who is now thirty nine years
- 32:58Speaker 3: of age, which leads me here to this. It gets
- 33:01Speaker 3: us right back here to this most important thing of
- 33:04Speaker 3: why you have to solve this issue internally. You have
- 33:07Speaker 3: to draft and develop your own talent today or use
- 33:11Speaker 3: what you have to make a trade here. So how
- 33:13Speaker 3: far along are we with seeing with what guys are doing,
- 33:16Speaker 3: like say, not just Shane right, but also Matty Banier's recently.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think it's.
- 33:23Speaker 7: This, This is a big year for those two, and
- 33:26Speaker 7: I think we're already starting to see it a lot
- 33:28Speaker 7: with Matty Beaneer's right, this is I think his best season.
- 33:31Speaker 7: That not obviously from a number standpoint, but from the
- 33:34Speaker 7: way that his game is evolving and developing.
- 33:37Speaker 2: He's becoming a two way centerman.
- 33:38Speaker 7: He's been playing, you know, very responsibly defensively, He's getting
- 33:42Speaker 7: more PK time, which is nothing new, but you're just
- 33:45Speaker 7: seeing all areas of his game start to come together.
- 33:48Speaker 7: And I think after this season, the Kraken, you know,
- 33:52Speaker 7: unfortunately aren't probably going to be saved.
- 33:56Speaker 2: By free agency. You know who else is on that list,
- 33:59Speaker 2: James Fordgen Yeah.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Also, I gotta save your own guys now too.
- 34:03Speaker 7: You gotta say, you gotta save your own bacon before
- 34:05Speaker 7: you can go out there and eat someone else's.
- 34:07Speaker 2: So you like that one out.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Save that one of the drafts?
- 34:12Speaker 7: Yeah, No, I think, uh yeah, just going through this
- 34:16Speaker 7: list right now, A lot of really good middle six guys,
- 34:20Speaker 7: a lot of guys that can be some great ancillary pieces,
- 34:24Speaker 7: but there's no one on this I'm just looking through
- 34:27Speaker 7: right now.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Don't move a superstar needle. They don't. I mean, well,
- 34:30Speaker 1: O Bekin's yes, but he's also up there in the
- 34:34Speaker 1: in the the the Amalcan territory with Age yea, but.
- 34:37Speaker 7: Hey he's still a ve right, I mean, maybe we
- 34:40Speaker 7: can go from one Washington to another. Right, you're closer
- 34:43Speaker 7: to Russia on this side anyway. No I say, I
- 34:45Speaker 7: say that in jest, but no, I do think you
- 34:48Speaker 7: know you're gonna start looking now, O Coachella Valley, You're
- 34:51Speaker 7: gonna start looking at some of these guys who are
- 34:53Speaker 7: overseas or in junior hockey. Who who you're looking to
- 34:58Speaker 7: make that next step? Jagger Fercus just one AHL player
- 35:01Speaker 7: of the week. You know he's coming along nicely as well.
- 35:04Speaker 7: This could be an opportunity for Fercus next year to
- 35:07Speaker 7: come in and be be that next wave.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Right, So, internally, I think as where a lot of
- 35:13Speaker 2: these issues, potential issues are going to have to be solved.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Well, here's I'm gonna get onto this here and fits
- 35:20Speaker 3: perfect segue because as a crack can continue to work
- 35:24Speaker 3: and develop. We now have I mean Oscar Fisker moleguards
- 35:27Speaker 3: in this conversation of potentially helping this team, but he
- 35:31Speaker 3: serves a different type of role. But we look at Fercus.
- 35:34Speaker 3: You mentioned player of the week Jacob Mallanson coming also
- 35:37Speaker 3: off his first hat trick of his pro career as well.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Fercus is hot. Malanson plays a game that is easily
- 35:46Speaker 3: translatable right now to how this Kraken team plays.
- 35:49Speaker 1: So who's closer right now to an AHL call up?
- 35:52Speaker 9: You think.
- 35:54Speaker 6: I mean Mitchell Stevens as well. I was gonna that
- 35:58Speaker 6: through Mitchell Stevens in there as well. You know, we
- 36:01Speaker 6: liked what we saw from Ben Myers who just got
- 36:03Speaker 6: sent back down. There's a handful of guys, Mike that
- 36:06Speaker 6: that that could fill the bill and and some of
- 36:08Speaker 6: them are playing really well right now. And sorry, let's
- 36:11Speaker 6: go ahead.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Well, I was gonna say you kind of hit the
- 36:14Speaker 2: hit the nail on the head there.
- 36:15Speaker 7: I think for me, you know the way that Oscar
- 36:20Speaker 7: Fisker Molgard played in preseason, I think it was John
- 36:24Speaker 7: Foresland who called him Dnty Moore. Just you know, a
- 36:27Speaker 7: nice meat and potatoes stew right, like he's gonna work
- 36:31Speaker 7: hard for you, and I think he's you know, you
- 36:34Speaker 7: were saying Mike that that he's pretty close. You know,
- 36:38Speaker 7: I think that Jacob Allonson. We saw a lot from
- 36:42Speaker 7: him last year in the one game that he played,
- 36:44Speaker 7: and then in training camp as well. So you know,
- 36:46Speaker 7: it all also depends on what happens with this team, right,
- 36:50Speaker 7: You're hoping the team stays healthy. You're hoping that you
- 36:53Speaker 7: don't need to call guys up. But now you're looking
- 36:56Speaker 7: for who's gonna be the best option to fit your role,
- 37:00Speaker 7: to fit your needs. Knowing what they have in a
- 37:03Speaker 7: Jacob Malanson in an Oscar Fisker Buleguard, I would probably
- 37:08Speaker 7: venture those two or maybe ahead of Furcus a little
- 37:12Speaker 7: bit on the forward side of things. Obviously on the
- 37:15Speaker 7: defensive side of the puff Kale Flurries here, Josh Mahurris here,
- 37:19Speaker 7: So you would need to have a couple of more
- 37:22Speaker 7: injuries to get you know, de prospects up here.
- 37:25Speaker 2: But I mean Villi.
- 37:26Speaker 7: Odoviden, Tyson Jugnas. I would love to see Tyson Jugnaf
- 37:30Speaker 7: in a game that matters, not preseason, right, So I
- 37:34Speaker 7: think the Kraken have a lot of really good options that,
- 37:38Speaker 7: at least based on how they've performed, I'm very comfortable
- 37:42Speaker 7: with putting them in a lineup, you know tomorrow if
- 37:47Speaker 7: you had.
- 37:47Speaker 3: To Detroit, coming up, Chicago, coming up, Pittsburgh and the
- 37:51Speaker 3: Islander result wrapping up this back to back this next weekend.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Perfect time now to go to the Beacon Plumbing hotline.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Great to introduce Dave McCarthy here to crack and Weekly,
- 38:02Speaker 3: a steamed host of the Brunch. You can hear him
- 38:04Speaker 3: on sirius xm NHL Network Radio. Does fantastic workout there
- 38:08Speaker 3: other Leaves and Toronto Bass Ventures as well.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Dave, great to have you.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Are you taking care of our good people over there
- 38:15Speaker 3: like Scotty Loflin, mccernin and to the rest here for us.
- 38:18Speaker 9: Big boys, they can take care of themselves. They tend
- 38:21Speaker 9: to be in very positive moods without my effortvescens helping
- 38:25Speaker 9: him out.
- 38:26Speaker 1: J Con Everett's boys also in that mix too as well.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Dave, all first begin before we kind of go around
- 38:32Speaker 3: the horn with where the crack and are head of
- 38:34Speaker 3: here for this East Coast road trip, just on the
- 38:36Speaker 3: general sense of where this team is at exactly winning
- 38:40Speaker 3: records so far, and we're almost to us Thanksgiving. They
- 38:44Speaker 3: beat Winnipeg five to three days before this show. They're
- 38:48Speaker 3: doing this without Jared McCann. They're doing this recently without
- 38:52Speaker 3: Joey Decor. They're doing this without the eighteen goals that
- 38:55Speaker 3: Freddie Goodreaux had last year. And they're doing this still
- 38:59Speaker 3: waiting for a top line bona fide star forward to
- 39:03Speaker 3: either develop or if they can acquire one. So really,
- 39:07Speaker 3: at this point in November, what are the remaining questions
- 39:11Speaker 3: about the Kraken that you or others might have from
- 39:14Speaker 3: say twenty thousand feet at this point of the season.
- 39:17Speaker 9: Well, I've been really impressed with what I've seen out
- 39:19Speaker 9: of the Kraken to this point. When they roll through Toronto, Man,
- 39:22Speaker 9: was that two or three weeks ago? Now? I just
- 39:24Speaker 9: I really like their team game, Like you could tell
- 39:29Speaker 9: that a system and a style and an expectation have
- 39:33Speaker 9: been installed by Lane Lambert and everybody was playing to that.
- 39:38Speaker 9: I think that's what Seattle needs to do in order
- 39:40Speaker 9: to have success. They do not have the horses to
- 39:43Speaker 9: be able to run up and down the ice and
- 39:45Speaker 9: to get into a track meet with teams on a
- 39:47Speaker 9: nightly basis and expect to win. That that will not work.
- 39:51Speaker 9: And so what I think Lane is asking him to
- 39:55Speaker 9: do is not easy. But if they're willing to buy in,
- 39:58Speaker 9: I think they've got a group that that can have
- 40:00Speaker 9: success playing that way. And I was impressed how the
- 40:03Speaker 9: whole group seemed to commit to that style. You know,
- 40:08Speaker 9: I think for some teams a good start is more
- 40:13Speaker 9: important than others. Now, Tampa Bay started no good, but
- 40:19Speaker 9: you know, I don't think too many people were concerned
- 40:22Speaker 9: about Tampa Bay. And there we sit there, they're starting
- 40:25Speaker 9: to come there. I think they're gonna be okay. For
- 40:28Speaker 9: a team like Seattle that came off a down year
- 40:31Speaker 9: last year, I think it's important to come into the
- 40:34Speaker 9: year have some success off the hop and I think
- 40:38Speaker 9: I've talked to a lot of guys that can totally
- 40:41Speaker 9: change your mindset as a group. When you start coming
- 40:45Speaker 9: to the rink, you start to feel like you're a
- 40:48Speaker 9: good team, You feel like you have a chance. What
- 40:50Speaker 9: the coach is telling you not only is it making sense,
- 40:54Speaker 9: but it's working and it's yielding results, which makes you
- 40:58Speaker 9: want to double down in and recommit to that even further.
- 41:02Speaker 9: Compared to if you're you're not having success, uh, and
- 41:05Speaker 9: then you get to to us Thanksgiving or as you
- 41:09Speaker 9: guys call it in the United States Thanksgiving and and
- 41:15Speaker 9: and you're a good team and you see yourself in
- 41:16Speaker 9: a playoff spot and not really springboards your your team
- 41:19Speaker 9: moving forward. So I don't think you could have asked
- 41:22Speaker 9: for a better start. My primary question with Seattle is
- 41:26Speaker 9: will they be able to score enough? They don't have
- 41:30Speaker 9: to score five six goals every night, but will they
- 41:33Speaker 9: be able to score enough? I think that's gonna be
- 41:36Speaker 9: my question moving forward with them this year because defensively,
- 41:41Speaker 9: from a system standpoint, goaltending, I've been pretty impressed. From
- 41:44Speaker 9: from that standpoint.
- 41:46Speaker 3: What was it about Lane Lambert in what he did
- 41:50Speaker 3: behind the bench last year with Craig Bruby that you're
- 41:52Speaker 3: reminded of, which is translating here to this good start
- 41:56Speaker 3: here so far?
- 41:57Speaker 9: Well, the Leaps played a simple style defensively last year,
- 42:02Speaker 9: and they did not shoot themselves in the foot very
- 42:06Speaker 9: often like under Sheldon Keith. They played a very high octane, aggressive, entertaining,
- 42:15Speaker 9: also high risk style. And when Craig came on board
- 42:19Speaker 9: and brought Lane on board, the mandate was to simplify
- 42:25Speaker 9: their game and to install a system that may not
- 42:28Speaker 9: be as entertaining in November and December and January, but
- 42:32Speaker 9: would have more success in April and May, and they
- 42:35Speaker 9: hoped June, but they didn't get there. But we saw
- 42:38Speaker 9: strides in that direction, and like I said, they didn't
- 42:42Speaker 9: shoot themselves in the foot. There were a lot of
- 42:46Speaker 9: games last year where the result was pretty much packaged
- 42:51Speaker 9: up by the time the third period start. I know,
- 42:54Speaker 9: because in writing the game story, I never felt like
- 42:56Speaker 9: I was writing with my hair on fire, like oh
- 42:59Speaker 9: my god, it was too go well, come back here
- 43:00Speaker 9: with three minutes left. None of that. It was usually
- 43:02Speaker 9: up you know, three one, four two, And it's steered
- 43:05Speaker 9: at home quite well. And I think Lane had a
- 43:09Speaker 9: big part to do with that, because that's a lot
- 43:12Speaker 9: of what I've seen from Seattle this year. Just a
- 43:14Speaker 9: predictable style and a reliable style. It's gone away in
- 43:19Speaker 9: Toronto this year, and you start to wonder how much
- 43:23Speaker 9: a guy like Lane Lambert had to do with the
- 43:26Speaker 9: style here in Toronto last year and with the results
- 43:30Speaker 9: that they're having now in Seattle. I'm going to suggest
- 43:34Speaker 9: probably quite a bit.
- 43:36Speaker 7: Dave when you're when you're traveling around the rinks and
- 43:38Speaker 7: you're talking about these teams you're hosting your shows. I
- 43:41Speaker 7: loved your your opinion on the Kraken, But what's the
- 43:44Speaker 7: general feel about this team, the direction they're going, the
- 43:49Speaker 7: personnel that they have. I know that you know, with
- 43:51Speaker 7: us being tucked up here in the corner, it can
- 43:54Speaker 7: be a little bit hard to get news out of
- 43:56Speaker 7: the P and W if you're not Vancouver. But what
- 43:59Speaker 7: are what are the folk saying about this team? Do
- 44:02Speaker 7: they believe that this is sustainable? Do they believe that
- 44:05Speaker 7: the Kraken can can go to the playoff spot? Well
- 44:08Speaker 7: to get a playoff spot?
- 44:09Speaker 13: What's that general feeling about Seattle around the league?
- 44:13Speaker 9: Yeah? I look, I would say coming into the year,
- 44:16Speaker 9: I was a little confused with the direction that Seattle
- 44:21Speaker 9: was going in. They went out and accumulated a number
- 44:26Speaker 9: of nice pieces, but at term and at money in
- 44:31Speaker 9: some cases that made you raise your eyebrow a little bit.
- 44:35Speaker 9: And so I think, to me, the expectations were lower
- 44:40Speaker 9: coming into the year, like they were in a you
- 44:42Speaker 9: gotta show me category before I really start to buy in.
- 44:47Speaker 9: But having said all that, like I said, if they
- 44:51Speaker 9: play to the style that they seem to be adhering to.
- 44:55Speaker 9: I think it's a group that can have success. Do
- 44:58Speaker 9: I think they're a Stanley Cup contender, No, I don't.
- 45:01Speaker 9: They're They're far from that. But but they're a team
- 45:04Speaker 9: that I think can be a hard out on a
- 45:07Speaker 9: lot of nights. How do you get from from that
- 45:10Speaker 9: to the next level of being a cut contender. You
- 45:13Speaker 9: need Matty Beniers to raise his game to another level.
- 45:17Speaker 9: You know, He's a guy that they've really committed to
- 45:20Speaker 9: and is sort of that that young centerpiece that you
- 45:23Speaker 9: kind of need to build around these days. A guy
- 45:26Speaker 9: like Shane Wright has started to show some signs as
- 45:31Speaker 9: to why he was a high draft pick and he
- 45:34Speaker 9: started to make a contribution. They need him to take
- 45:36Speaker 9: his game to another level. Capo CaCO, same thing. So
- 45:42Speaker 9: what I would say right now is that I think
- 45:45Speaker 9: they're a team that should set their their goal on
- 45:49Speaker 9: being a wild card team at worst, because I think
- 45:53Speaker 9: they've shown that they can hang in the pack. And
- 45:56Speaker 9: you know, at this point in the year, we look
- 45:59Speaker 9: at the the division and I'm just pulling it up
- 46:01Speaker 9: on my phone right now to make sure I don't
- 46:05Speaker 9: miss anybody, But you know, you look at Anaheim, do
- 46:09Speaker 9: we see them sustaining. They've gone off to a great start.
- 46:13Speaker 9: Maybe they'll come back to the pack a little bit. Edmonton,
- 46:16Speaker 9: I think we all think at some point we'll figure
- 46:18Speaker 9: it out, always do, always do, and then they always
- 46:23Speaker 9: seem to figure it out. Vegas has kind of gone
- 46:26Speaker 9: in the skids lately. I do expect them to be better,
- 46:29Speaker 9: but they're dealing with a lot of injuries right now.
- 46:32Speaker 9: So if you're in LA, I was impressed with what
- 46:35Speaker 9: I saw out of them last night, to be honest
- 46:37Speaker 9: with you, But but I think you look there and say, well, okay,
- 46:40Speaker 9: maybe Edmonton, Vegas will we'll get rolling. Why why can't
- 46:43Speaker 9: we be the third team? Why can't we be the
- 46:45Speaker 9: fourth team in that division? Why can't we be in
- 46:49Speaker 9: that position? So that's how I see Seattle. I think,
- 46:55Speaker 9: given how they've started, I think it would be a
- 46:57Speaker 9: disappointment now I would be if they didn't at least
- 47:01Speaker 9: make make a wild card.
- 47:03Speaker 6: Dave with the krack and getting ready to head out
- 47:04Speaker 6: east to play Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh in the Island. Based
- 47:09Speaker 6: on Lane Lambert's style that we've been talking about, who
- 47:12Speaker 6: do you think is going to give Seattle the toughest
- 47:15Speaker 6: game in terms of competing with that kind of style. Obviously,
- 47:18Speaker 6: Detroit coming off of a big six to three win
- 47:20Speaker 6: over a Sea Above the Ana Hunting Ducks and how
- 47:22Speaker 6: they're playing, and you know, we know what's going on
- 47:24Speaker 6: with the Dard in Chicago and Matt Schaeffer in the Island.
- 47:29Speaker 6: So who do think is going to give the krack
- 47:32Speaker 6: and the toughest game over those four.
- 47:35Speaker 9: That's a tough question. Look, I've been impressed with what
- 47:38Speaker 9: I've seen from Detroit this year. I think they're a
- 47:40Speaker 9: much better team than they were a year ago. I
- 47:44Speaker 9: think is similar to what we've seen in Seattle. Todd
- 47:47Speaker 9: McClellan has installed a really good system in Detroit where
- 47:51Speaker 9: they are not hurting themselves as much as they had
- 47:55Speaker 9: in the past. There's some more maturity in their game.
- 48:00Speaker 9: I think they're they're kind of built similarly in that
- 48:03Speaker 9: they don't really have like an a one star. They've
- 48:07Speaker 9: got a collection of very good players, like a Dylan
- 48:10Speaker 9: Larkin to me, is a very good player. He's not
- 48:12Speaker 9: a you know, one A in the league type thing.
- 48:16Speaker 9: Lucas Raymond is a very good player. They they've got
- 48:21Speaker 9: and then they've got some you know, some skilled guys,
- 48:25Speaker 9: but also grinding type guys up front, like an Andrew
- 48:28Speaker 9: Copp and you know guys like that. To me, that
- 48:32Speaker 9: that play a similar style to what they look for
- 48:35Speaker 9: in Seattle. So I think Detroit will be a tough test.
- 48:39Speaker 9: Pittsburgh has been really interesting to me though, all Like,
- 48:41Speaker 9: I didn't have any expectations for them coming into the year.
- 48:46Speaker 9: And look, we just turned the clocks back a week
- 48:49Speaker 9: and a half ago. If Guinny Mugan hasn't turned the
- 48:52Speaker 9: clocks back an hour, he's turned them back like six
- 48:54Speaker 9: eight years the way he's played. So we'll see. Do
- 48:58Speaker 9: is there a little bit of Sweden hangover by the
- 49:00Speaker 9: time they get back? Maybe? But they're a team to
- 49:03Speaker 9: me that you have to watch closely.
- 49:07Speaker 4: Now.
- 49:07Speaker 9: They're not a free out because they've got their their
- 49:12Speaker 9: top guys playing like top guys. Crosby doesn't need to
- 49:15Speaker 9: turn the claw. He's always been good, continues to be.
- 49:18Speaker 9: Eric Carlson looked rejuvenated to me. There was a spring
- 49:22Speaker 9: in his step that I haven't seen in his game,
- 49:24Speaker 9: maybe since the hundred point year in San Jose a
- 49:26Speaker 9: few years ago. He was really impressive. They've added some
- 49:31Speaker 9: young players. Ben Kendall, like, watch this guy, eighty one
- 49:36Speaker 9: right handed shot, similar size. Tell me he doesn't look
- 49:40Speaker 9: like Phil Kessel when you watch the Penguins, Yea looks
- 49:43Speaker 9: like the same guy out there. So he's added an
- 49:47Speaker 9: injection into their team. I think Pittsburgh could be a
- 49:50Speaker 9: team that challenges Seattle for sure. I just I really
- 49:53Speaker 9: like how they've played this year.
- 49:55Speaker 3: I'll tell you what, Dave, I'm in my forties right now,
- 49:57Speaker 3: and I'll have whatever Geno, Malkin and Crosby and everybody
- 50:00Speaker 3: else is having out there right now. That seems to
- 50:02Speaker 3: be the old Fountain of You type of thing. But
- 50:05Speaker 3: Dave McCarthy joining us right now on Crack and Weekly.
- 50:07Speaker 3: I want to touch on Chicago because I think, to me,
- 50:11Speaker 3: two ways to look at this, and they're another team
- 50:14Speaker 3: that is surging out of their rebuild like what San
- 50:18Speaker 3: Jose has done and taking place in that conversation. Not
- 50:22Speaker 3: surprising to me is the way that Connor Bodart has
- 50:25Speaker 3: taken the reins and is now in that superstar conversation
- 50:28Speaker 3: for the next young tier. To me, I think it's
- 50:31Speaker 3: a support around him that might be a bit more surprising.
- 50:35Speaker 3: And I'm not sure maybe Spencer Nyson times gets the
- 50:38Speaker 3: credit he deserves. And we talk about hellabug shasterk and
- 50:41Speaker 3: even Logan Thompson a ton as far as top tier
- 50:44Speaker 3: goalies in the league, but his numbers are up there
- 50:46Speaker 3: right now with them. So you know, all things consider
- 50:49Speaker 3: Jeff Blaschell now behind the bench, how long do you
- 50:52Speaker 3: think Chicago keeps us up?
- 50:55Speaker 9: They've been way better than I expected. And you're right,
- 50:58Speaker 9: Like you look at a guy like Tyler Tuesy. I
- 51:00Speaker 9: wondered what that guy was going to offer. But honestly,
- 51:03Speaker 9: when he was in Toronto a couple of years ago,
- 51:05Speaker 9: I didn't really think his game was that good. I
- 51:09Speaker 9: thought he really struggled to get around the ice. But
- 51:13Speaker 9: he's he's had success so far this year nine goals
- 51:16Speaker 9: in sixteen games. Can't ask for better than that. Andre
- 51:18Speaker 9: Burkowsky guy, he knows you guys know well in Seattle
- 51:22Speaker 9: has been a nice ad to their group table with terror.
- 51:25Speaker 9: Vinen has always been a guy that has been able
- 51:27Speaker 9: to produce. Frank Nazar has taken a step from a
- 51:32Speaker 9: guy that had only played what fifty games before he
- 51:35Speaker 9: got fifty million bucks to a guy that looks like
- 51:38Speaker 9: that was a pretty good decision on the part of
- 51:40Speaker 9: kylein Davidson to lock up long term. So how long
- 51:46Speaker 9: do they keep it up? I don't know. I'm not
- 51:50Speaker 9: convinced yet that they're going to be a playoff team.
- 51:54Speaker 9: I mean, I think the Central Division is the toughest
- 51:56Speaker 9: division in hockey right now. Colorado is a wagon. They're
- 52:00Speaker 9: insanely good. Nathan McKinnon, Yeah right, he's putting up four
- 52:05Speaker 9: or five points a night for fun. Dallas started slow,
- 52:09Speaker 9: they've got it rolling. I looked at them as a
- 52:11Speaker 9: Cup contender coming into the year. Ditt Over Winnipeg, Utah
- 52:16Speaker 9: has been much better. I like their team on the
- 52:19Speaker 9: whole right now, better than Chicago. And so if you
- 52:25Speaker 9: are the Blackhawks, where are you getting into the playoffs?
- 52:28Speaker 9: Can you be better than all but three teams in
- 52:32Speaker 9: the Pacific? Might be a tough ask. I don't necessarily
- 52:36Speaker 9: see that. So they've taken steps. Connor Bedard now looks
- 52:41Speaker 9: like a guy who's really comfortable in the league. I
- 52:43Speaker 9: think he's discovered the way in which he needs to
- 52:46Speaker 9: play in order to have success, and he's playing more
- 52:49Speaker 9: of a professional game now, not a game that you
- 52:54Speaker 9: have success in junior hockey just because your leaps and
- 52:57Speaker 9: bounds better than everybody. But that's suff doesn't work when
- 53:00Speaker 9: you get to the NHL. There's more of a National
- 53:04Speaker 9: league element to his game now, is the best way
- 53:06Speaker 9: I can put that. So I think they're coming. I
- 53:10Speaker 9: just don't think they're there yet at this point.
- 53:14Speaker 13: I know that we talked on the Chicago black Hawks.
- 53:17Speaker 7: All those teams for the Islanders are a team that
- 53:19Speaker 7: I think a lot of folks, I mean, are we
- 53:23Speaker 7: surprised at how well the Islanders are doing? Are we
- 53:25Speaker 7: disappointed that they're not doing better?
- 53:27Speaker 13: Matt Shaeffer, I think.
- 53:29Speaker 7: I don't want to say he's come out of nowhere
- 53:30Speaker 7: because you're the number one pick, but for him to
- 53:32Speaker 7: lead the rookie defensive scoring race, you know, I think
- 53:37Speaker 7: is really really good for a team that, again, you've
- 53:41Speaker 7: got a couple of stars in that team, they've had
- 53:43Speaker 7: a little bit of turnover. What do you notice about
- 53:45Speaker 7: the Islanders that that has gotten them to as of
- 53:49Speaker 7: right now.
- 53:50Speaker 13: Within three four points the first place in that division.
- 53:55Speaker 9: Yeah. Look, I think Matt Shafer has been an incredible story.
- 53:58Speaker 9: This is a guy that they should be jamming in
- 54:00Speaker 9: front of cameras as often as they can. Right, He's
- 54:03Speaker 9: a guy that you know, only market around the island.
- 54:05Speaker 9: He's probably lead around. This guy, he is awesome. I
- 54:08Speaker 9: had the chance to talk to him in the summertime
- 54:11Speaker 9: a little bit, just after he got drafted, and I
- 54:15Speaker 9: asked him him, like, you sure you're eighteen? You're not
- 54:18Speaker 9: like twenty seven? Sure, because like, I don't know if
- 54:21Speaker 9: I've ever met a more mature eighteen year old in
- 54:23Speaker 9: my life. And he's not. He's not like eighteen and
- 54:26Speaker 9: eleven months. He's like eighteen in a month or two.
- 54:28Speaker 9: He's a young eighteen. And I think what what's happened.
- 54:33Speaker 13: Is September of seven is when he was born.
- 54:36Speaker 9: So he just turned eighteen, Like I vividly remembers September
- 54:41Speaker 9: of seven. That's hard to believe.
- 54:43Speaker 13: It was a freshman at Bowling Green State University. That
- 54:45Speaker 13: was a fun year.
- 54:46Speaker 9: There you go. Not a lot I've met it was.
- 54:49Speaker 4: It was not that long ago.
- 54:51Speaker 9: Yeah, So look, I mean, I think what what's happened
- 54:54Speaker 9: with the island is that this guy's come in. He's
- 54:58Speaker 9: immediately what I've been told been, What's what I'm trying
- 55:03Speaker 9: to say? The group has bought into him like they
- 55:06Speaker 9: they've He's immediately become one of the boys instead of
- 55:11Speaker 9: at times, you know, veterans can be a little bit uh,
- 55:14Speaker 9: we'll see what the young guys got. Okay, well you
- 55:16Speaker 9: gotta earn a little bit of here, but nothing crazy,
- 55:18Speaker 9: but you gotta hearn it. I think because of how
- 55:22Speaker 9: well he's been received by the group, it's brought the
- 55:25Speaker 9: group together. And what you see now, I think with
- 55:27Speaker 9: the Islanders it's a bit of a pack mentality when
- 55:29Speaker 9: they play. You know, when anybody goes near Matt Shaffer,
- 55:33Speaker 9: like the whole team is jumping in. And I think
- 55:35Speaker 9: that's brought the group together and and and they're now
- 55:38Speaker 9: playing really is a tightly knit group after a bit
- 55:42Speaker 9: of a slower start to the year. Like I think
- 55:45Speaker 9: they've got they've got enough talent where they should be
- 55:48Speaker 9: in the mix. But I think what Shafer has been
- 55:51Speaker 9: able to bring to the group has really brought this
- 55:54Speaker 9: group together and taken a collection of what has been
- 56:00Speaker 9: decent parts. I really unified the group. And then not
- 56:03Speaker 9: only unify the group, but you're adding a guy in
- 56:06Speaker 9: Matt Schaeffer who's just been an incredible injection of his
- 56:09Speaker 9: own talent on the ice. I like this Islanders team.
- 56:15Speaker 9: You know, I was wondering Washington if they would tail
- 56:19Speaker 9: off a little bit this year because everything went well
- 56:22Speaker 9: last year, like just about everything broke their way, had
- 56:24Speaker 9: the OV chase and all of that, and you wonder
- 56:27Speaker 9: if there might be a little bit of a letdown,
- 56:29Speaker 9: and it seems like there might be. So, you know,
- 56:32Speaker 9: if you're the Honors, you say, does Pittsburgh hang on?
- 56:35Speaker 9: Maybe can can the Raiders score at home once? I
- 56:38Speaker 9: don't know if they can't, Like they should be good,
- 56:42Speaker 9: But I think the Islanders have done enough now to
- 56:44Speaker 9: show themselves where you should look at trying to stay
- 56:49Speaker 9: in the mix as a wildcare team. I've been really
- 56:52Speaker 9: impressed with what I've seen out of the Islanders.
- 56:54Speaker 6: So far, Dave. In the Eastern Conference, you know, obviously
- 56:56Speaker 6: there have been some surprises early on in the season.
- 56:59Speaker 6: We talked about Pitt's for a moment ago. But who
- 57:01Speaker 6: do you think hasn't shown their full potential yet from
- 57:04Speaker 6: the East? Like who I mean, not just a surprise,
- 57:06Speaker 6: but maybe there have been some key injuries. Who do
- 57:09Speaker 6: you think in the next you know, twenty games, pops
- 57:12Speaker 6: out and really shows what they can do well.
- 57:16Speaker 9: I wouldn't sleep on the two teams from the Sunshine States,
- 57:20Speaker 9: like they just got to find a way to hang
- 57:22Speaker 9: around Florida here in Matthew Chuck's getting back on the
- 57:26Speaker 9: ice in a couple of weeks, so that takes us
- 57:28Speaker 9: to you know, early maybe by you know, this time
- 57:31Speaker 9: next month, he's back in the fold. And then never
- 57:35Speaker 9: doubt Billy Zito's ability to get something done to enhance
- 57:39Speaker 9: his team because they are in win now mode. So
- 57:43Speaker 9: I think they've been lying in the weeds. They're only
- 57:46Speaker 9: a point back of Detroit right now. They haven't really
- 57:50Speaker 9: played any good what is signing Bradley Marshan has been
- 57:54Speaker 9: for them. He has really kept them afloat a thousand points.
- 57:58Speaker 9: Like I don't know, but you I love everything about
- 58:01Speaker 9: this guy. I've been able to do a brunch this
- 58:03Speaker 9: year where I haven't mentioned Bradley Sunday because he's got
- 58:08Speaker 9: a thousand points now this week. So Florida is one
- 58:12Speaker 9: of those teams and Tampa is one of those teams.
- 58:16Speaker 13: You know.
- 58:16Speaker 9: Bradon points a little bit slow to start this year.
- 58:20Speaker 9: I think he'll get it rolling. He's a very consistent,
- 58:22Speaker 9: reliable player, and their their line, and they've only played
- 58:25Speaker 9: sixteen games and played too many games either, so that's
- 58:29Speaker 9: working in their advantage. Florida and Tampa Bay, they're just
- 58:32Speaker 9: too good to count them out at this point in
- 58:33Speaker 9: the year.
- 58:35Speaker 7: As we come up on American Thanksgiving, everyone wants to
- 58:38Speaker 7: talk about, you know, teams that are in.
- 58:40Speaker 13: A playoff spot.
- 58:42Speaker 7: You know, eighty percent of the time are in If
- 58:45Speaker 7: you look at the East, Montreal, Ottawa, Boston, Jersey, Carolina, Pittsburgh, Islanders, Detroit,
- 58:52Speaker 7: out West Colorado, Dallas, Winnipeg, Anaheim, La, Seattle, Utah, Chicago.
- 58:58Speaker 7: Of those sixteen teams, who are the contenders, who are
- 59:02Speaker 7: the pretenders? Who replaces who? I know we talked about
- 59:06Speaker 7: Edmonton in Vegas. They're always going to find a way
- 59:09Speaker 7: to get there, you know what.
- 59:10Speaker 13: Together.
- 59:10Speaker 7: But when you look at this list, how much movement
- 59:15Speaker 7: given the schedule, given the back to backs, given the
- 59:19Speaker 7: Olympic break, how much movement do you foresee between now
- 59:24Speaker 7: and you know, obviously playoff time, but in the next
- 59:27Speaker 7: six to eight weeks.
- 59:29Speaker 9: Honestly, Everett, I think this year, I think there could
- 59:32Speaker 9: be more than we're accustomed to. I'm just doing the
- 59:35Speaker 9: math here. I'm using a calculator because that's why I
- 59:38Speaker 9: joined this business. They told me there would be no math, so.
- 59:41Speaker 3: Any nice use of the iPhone. Also, yeah, I love
- 59:44Speaker 3: it secret weapon.
- 59:46Speaker 9: It works well, and you keep it below the camera.
- 59:49Speaker 9: I'm willing to be transferent. I can't do that kind
- 59:51Speaker 9: of I figured it was around twelve and I'm like, no,
- 59:54Speaker 9: I think that's that's that's seventy five. That's not enough,
- 59:57Speaker 9: So we'll call it thirteen teams. That's three that are
- 1:00:01Speaker 9: in right now. If eighty percent is our rule that
- 1:00:04Speaker 9: come out, I think it could be more than that
- 1:00:07Speaker 9: this year, Everett. I really do, just because number one,
- 1:00:12Speaker 9: the teams that are out looking in, there's not that
- 1:00:16Speaker 9: much distance between them and the cut line. Only two
- 1:00:23Speaker 9: teams in the Eastern Conference are more than two points
- 1:00:27Speaker 9: out of a playoff spot right now. In the West
- 1:00:32Speaker 9: that's a little bit more stark. Vancouver, Saint Louis, Nashville,
- 1:00:38Speaker 9: and Calgary are more than two out of a playoff
- 1:00:40Speaker 9: spot right now. So that leaves Minnesota, San Jose, Vegas,
- 1:00:44Speaker 9: and Edmonton. I think because so many teams are bunched up,
- 1:00:48Speaker 9: and we see teams on the outside looking in that
- 1:00:51Speaker 9: we expected to be in and I think will be
- 1:00:54Speaker 9: in by the time the year is done. Edmonton, Vegas
- 1:00:58Speaker 9: in the West, without question, Florida, Pampa Bay, the New
- 1:01:03Speaker 9: York Rangers. It's getting tight to mention Toronto and that
- 1:01:08Speaker 9: the way they've been playing, we expected them to be in.
- 1:01:13Speaker 9: Like that's that's a lot of teams that you know,
- 1:01:16Speaker 9: a lot of people would have been willing to place
- 1:01:18Speaker 9: bets on that would make the playoffs at the beginning
- 1:01:21Speaker 9: of the year, before the season started. I don't think
- 1:01:25Speaker 9: that many teams are going to miss that we expected
- 1:01:29Speaker 9: to be in. So I think more than three that
- 1:01:31Speaker 9: are in right now are going to fall out just
- 1:01:33Speaker 9: because of the teams, the caliber of the teams that
- 1:01:36Speaker 9: are off to slower starts. But I think we know
- 1:01:39Speaker 9: are probably going to get it together. And just how
- 1:01:41Speaker 9: tightly bunched the standings are. I don't remember a year
- 1:01:45Speaker 9: in recent memory where there's been quite this much parody
- 1:01:49Speaker 9: throughout the entire league. I mean, there's really how many
- 1:01:52Speaker 9: How many teams are we willing to write off right now?
- 1:01:55Speaker 9: Like I can't even write off Washington team, So I'll
- 1:02:00Speaker 9: right off Buffalo in the East, Hey, that's one, Calgary, Nashville,
- 1:02:05Speaker 9: Saint Louis I think put a fork in them. I
- 1:02:08Speaker 9: don't like Vancouver. I don't think they've been very good either. Minnesota.
- 1:02:12Speaker 9: I'm not willing to write off. So that what is
- 1:02:14Speaker 9: at six out of thirty two teams? Yeah, that I
- 1:02:16Speaker 9: think the rest of it six minus thirty two is
- 1:02:21Speaker 9: twenty six. There's still ten teams that are outside looking
- 1:02:24Speaker 9: in right now, and I could see at least four
- 1:02:27Speaker 9: to five getting in.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: Well, folks, if you love your parody, you're getting your
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: meals worth the money's worth here and appropriate that us
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: Thanksgiving is creeping up here on us. And then maybe
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: too early here to talk about trade deadline stuff.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: But Dave, this is great.
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: We'll get you back on soon and by this time
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: hopefully we can talk more about trade deadline names at
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: some point.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: But man, you do great work.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: Thank you very much, and tell folks again where they
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: can find you on Sirius XM.
- 1:02:51Speaker 9: You got the brunch Sunday brunch every Sunday, wild right
- 1:02:55Speaker 9: Sunday brunch on a Sunday. Who would have thought eleven
- 1:02:58Speaker 9: am Eastern, So it's early for you guys out on
- 1:03:00Speaker 9: the West coast, But anybody, anybody we get from the
- 1:03:04Speaker 9: West coast. We're very appreciative. Eleven am Eastern every Sunday.
- 1:03:07Speaker 9: And I forgot to say this coming in. I know
- 1:03:10Speaker 9: my buddy down in Colorado at Colorado O'Connor mcgay. He's
- 1:03:13Speaker 9: a big frasier guy, and so am I. So instead
- 1:03:16Speaker 9: of on the way and I'll say good night, Seattle,
- 1:03:20Speaker 9: thanks for having me on.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Thanks buddy, all right, great stuff.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: Dave McCarthy joining us here on Sirius XM always welcome
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: back here, does a great job of the Sunday brunch
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: as well.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: He and Fits go way way back.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: But bring back ice Cap.
- 1:03:33Speaker 7: I tell him I didn't get a chance to say
- 1:03:36Speaker 7: it all my I missed that show.
- 1:03:37Speaker 9: You know that?
- 1:03:38Speaker 7: Oh my goodness, that was the best part. We land
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: at Boeing at one o'clock in the morning. I got
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: a twenty five minute drive home. I flip on ice Cap.
- 1:03:47Speaker 7: If we're lucky, I hear some of our calls. If not,
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: you get to catch up on the whip around from
- 1:03:52Speaker 7: the night. I know they do it in playoffs, but man,
- 1:03:55Speaker 7: the job that he did with ice Cap was I
- 1:04:00Speaker 7: wish they would bring that show back. Who who do
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: I'm looking at the camera as if this is recorded
- 1:04:05Speaker 7: on video. Who do I have to talk to to
- 1:04:07Speaker 7: get Ice Cap back? That's what I want.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I think you've got a couple of folks that you
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: know there in US as well, so we can fish.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: We have five dollars.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: We can officially start the Cracking Audio Network petition right now.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Bring back Ice Cat, put it, put it in the
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: till I love it, till.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Loved having that on when I would go home on
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: the way home after a postgame wrap up, no matter
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: how rode as well. All right, Dave McCarthy joining us again.
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: He is the host for Morning Brunch on Sirius XM
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: NHL Network Radio. Let's touch on a couple more things here.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: Chandler Stevenson set the bill at Berkeley Catton that cat
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: came out of the bag, pardon the expression, this last weekend,
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: and it's it's it's a fun thing because I think
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: number one, it shows that Catton's here to stay for
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: quite a while, if not for good. But we can
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: kind of read between the lines here on this one.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: But they want to get him out of the hotel Catton,
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: and then get him now into a more stable situation.
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: All different example, Joe Thornton with Macklin, Celebrini, Patrick Marlow
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: with Will Smith and San Jose. But now Catton can
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: enjoy some family cooking. You know, we've heard that he's
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: gone grocery shopping now on his own with some teammates.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: That's the feel I picked up from others additionally, But
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: I mean this is important because these are things that
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: you can't take for granted, and we usually do when
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: we get older and older. But at nineteen years of age,
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: you are still trying to figure out life. So this
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: is a pretty big deal here for Berkeley Catton.
- 1:05:28Speaker 7: I absolutely love this. I think this should be mandated
- 1:05:32Speaker 7: around the league. The fact that you've got a young
- 1:05:36Speaker 7: kid coming in in his NHL debut season, living with
- 1:05:39Speaker 7: a vet, who's won a couple of cups, who's played
- 1:05:42Speaker 7: with the best, who is one of the best.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: I cannot love this enough. You know, I think Al
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: you and I talk so much.
- 1:05:50Speaker 7: About how you can never underestimate the power of a
- 1:05:54Speaker 7: home cooked meal.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: You can never.
- 1:05:56Speaker 7: Underestimate the power of rolling around on the floor plane
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: with kids, right. I think Chandler Stevenson joked around. He
- 1:06:03Speaker 7: was asked, you know, why'd you do it? And he goes, oh,
- 1:06:05Speaker 7: babysitting for one, right, But I love it.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: I think this is great.
- 1:06:10Speaker 7: He's gonna absorb so much about preparing and living in this,
- 1:06:13Speaker 7: in this world that is the NHL.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: Even if Chandler.
- 1:06:16Speaker 7: Stevenson doesn't say anything, he's gonna see Stevenson eating breakfast
- 1:06:20Speaker 7: every morning. He's gonna see how he prepares and what
- 1:06:23Speaker 7: he does on a nightly basis. And for a nineteen
- 1:06:25Speaker 7: year old kid who's moved, who's been living away from
- 1:06:29Speaker 7: home for however long, right, four or five years now,
- 1:06:32Speaker 7: and I think this is awesome. Kudos to Chandler Stevenson.
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: I hope that when Jacobrien comes in here, I hope
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: that you know, it's Shane Wright, it's Manny Beeneers, it's
- 1:06:43Speaker 7: Jade Schwarwood, McCann, whoever it is. I hope that they're living.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: In their house. I cannot love this enough.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: And all tee this supper you here, because I talked
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: with Stevenson afterward and I said, oh, you're the Bill
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: of Dad now, and he had that look of all
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: how the tables have turned.
- 1:06:59Speaker 6: Yeah, not gonna say, Mike, is that for a guy
- 1:07:02Speaker 6: like Berkeley and anybody coming out of junior hockey is there.
- 1:07:05Speaker 6: They're used to living with a billet family, and every
- 1:07:08Speaker 6: billet is different. You know, mine's probably different than than
- 1:07:12Speaker 6: the Berkeley's was. And you know, some of them are
- 1:07:15Speaker 6: very hands on and there's a family dinner every night.
- 1:07:17Speaker 6: Some of them are a mix, and some of them
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: are kind of on your own. I don't know what
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: Berkeley's was, but if it was kind of that frequent
- 1:07:24Speaker 6: family dinner environment, that that's what he's used to, it's
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: pretty it's pretty shocking to suddenly be in a hotel,
- 1:07:30Speaker 6: you know, by yourself. And I talked to him a
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: little bit about this the other day, and he had
- 1:07:34Speaker 6: transitioned from a standard hotel into kind of like a
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: long extended stay location where there was a kitchen. But
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: you walk home at the end of practice, at the
- 1:07:42Speaker 6: end of the game, and it's this not walk home,
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: but you get dropped off at home or whatever, and
- 1:07:46Speaker 6: it's this empty room with an empty kitchen. You're like,
- 1:07:49Speaker 6: I don't really know what to do here, and you
- 1:07:52Speaker 6: find yourself eating out a lot, which isn't the best
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: you know, as far as healthy eating goes. So to
- 1:07:58Speaker 6: get into a situation where as you, yeah, not only
- 1:08:00Speaker 6: is he around a pro like like Channer Stevens and
- 1:08:04Speaker 6: somebody that plays the same position that he wants to play,
- 1:08:06Speaker 6: somebody that wants to have the same success that Channer
- 1:08:09Speaker 6: Stevenson has had. And he can observe all that stuff,
- 1:08:12Speaker 6: but to be in that family environment, it's a great
- 1:08:16Speaker 6: transition from that world of junior where you have that
- 1:08:19Speaker 6: every day with your billet family to the NHL where
- 1:08:23Speaker 6: you're going to get it for a period of time
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: until he feels, you know, comfortable enough to say, hey,
- 1:08:28Speaker 6: I think I'm ready to go do this.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: On my own.
- 1:08:30Speaker 7: That's a great word, comfortable. I was I was just
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: about to say, right that, your job is to play
- 1:08:35Speaker 7: in the NHL. Your job is to be a hockey player,
- 1:08:39Speaker 7: and whatever can be done to help you feel more
- 1:08:42Speaker 7: comfortable in your job like that, that's what's important. And
- 1:08:45Speaker 7: you're right, Like he gets his own room, he gets
- 1:08:48Speaker 7: his own bed, like we're talking to him, like we're
- 1:08:49Speaker 7: sending one of our own kids off to junior right now.
- 1:08:52Speaker 7: I love it, but no, but I think it's so
- 1:08:55Speaker 7: it's so important, right, Like we we so many times
- 1:09:00Speaker 7: see athletes as commodities, as numbers, as stat lines, and
- 1:09:05Speaker 7: we forget this is a nineteen year old kid living
- 1:09:08Speaker 7: two thousand miles away from home, one percent playing in
- 1:09:11Speaker 7: the in the National Hockey League, Like, holy bleep, but
- 1:09:14Speaker 7: he bleep, Like that's that's freaking scary. So to be
- 1:09:19Speaker 7: able to be able to stay with a guy who
- 1:09:24Speaker 7: was there, who's from your home province, who can talk
- 1:09:27Speaker 7: your language and all of that. Again, I we could
- 1:09:31Speaker 7: do another hour on this topic alone about why.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: I love this so much.
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: And you know who probably loves it the most is
- 1:09:37Speaker 6: mister and missus Catton. Like, you know, it wasn't too
- 1:09:39Speaker 6: long ago that they were making dinner for him and
- 1:09:41Speaker 6: that sort of thing, and obviously through junior that changes,
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: and it just makes them feel a little more comfortable
- 1:09:47Speaker 6: that he's not alone each night sitting in his room going, well,
- 1:09:50Speaker 6: I'm in NHL now, but I'm sitting by myself.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: So as a parent, we're parents, it probably makes them
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: feel good as well.
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: So like you're nineteen years old, you're living in a
- 1:09:59Speaker 7: pretty nice old time, right. I wonder when the novelty
- 1:10:01Speaker 7: wears off, right, like, because you're you're gonna be You're
- 1:10:06Speaker 7: gonna be Kevin McCallister for a few weeks, right, Like
- 1:10:08Speaker 7: they're gonna be ordering the Sunday and the Fool Cheese pizza.
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: But like I wonder when when it wears off?
- 1:10:14Speaker 6: Right, Well, it's pretty I'll just add one more thing
- 1:10:18Speaker 6: on that. It's pretty easy to answer that question. Fits
- 1:10:20Speaker 6: because we go on twelve day of road trips and
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: we stay in a lot of the same hotels. Like,
- 1:10:24Speaker 6: as nice as it is, what do you love the
- 1:10:27Speaker 6: most coming home to your own home and having your
- 1:10:29Speaker 6: own home cooked dinners? So I bet you it wears
- 1:10:31Speaker 6: off pretty quickly, especially it's not like they're they're not
- 1:10:36Speaker 6: staying in a hotel during training camp and during pre
- 1:10:39Speaker 6: season like this, this uh living in a hotel starts
- 1:10:42Speaker 6: very early on, and I bet you it's probably a
- 1:10:45Speaker 6: week or two when that that Kevin ms McCallister feeling
- 1:10:49Speaker 6: wears off.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: Let's get to our three stars before we wrap this
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: up here.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: I'll begin as my third star with Maddy Benier's only
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: twice in the last ten games he's been on the
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: minus side of plus minus. Now you want to say
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: Mike plus minus doesn't count these days, Well, it depends
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: on context here, but he's getting tougher matchups. He's playing
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: shutdown defense, He's now starting to become productive six points
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: last seven games when he's on the ice. His line
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: and he especially are creating more than they're giving up
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: in that span. For those who say, Mike show me
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: the metrics, well, he's owning fifty two percent of shot attempts,
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: best of any center for best on the Kraken and
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: guests who also who's number one his new line mate,
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: Mason march Men.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: In that span.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: We all thought that he needed Coppocaco, it's apparent that
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: he needs Jordan Eberley. He's been great. Plus maybe if
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: the Winnipeg game tells us more, we're seeing something here
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: with that line together, him, march Mit, Matty Beneers will
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: see how long it stays together. But madd he's been
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: playing some great hockey. He's my third star. Second star
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: goes to Philip Grubauer, who played his best when they
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: needed him the most, coming in relief for Matt Murray
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: in the San Jose game. The stop on Will Smith
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: was great breakaway and we can do a deep dive
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: on you know, the steink kicking motion. We're gonna be
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: out of time though pretty much soon here on this,
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: But the gloves save on Macklin's celebriny My goodness, that
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: was phenomenal, and in a second period where it was
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: sink or swim time and Philip Grubauer was this team's
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: life raft. My first star goes to Jayden Schwartz. Quota
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: the way through roughly of this season. It's been your
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: MVP so far, five points, last four games. He has
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: looked great no matter who he's played with, and he
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: had a very inspiring game once again on Hockey Fights
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: Cancer Night. Two goals. That's leadership. Jaden Schwartz is my
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: first start.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: Of the week. Mike, you stole them. I got the same, Sorry,
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: but you stole them same.
- 1:12:52Speaker 7: Three, but in different order. Two and three were pretty
- 1:12:56Speaker 7: tough for me. Where I want to rank them. I'm
- 1:13:00Speaker 7: gonna go Schwartz for third, barely. I got Maddie number two,
- 1:13:07Speaker 7: and then Phil I mean twelve out of ten, no notes,
- 1:13:10Speaker 7: I mean he the game he had against Winnipeg, coming
- 1:13:14Speaker 7: in ice cold to stop five in a row in
- 1:13:17Speaker 7: the second period against San Jose. You mentioned the Will
- 1:13:21Speaker 7: Smith breakaway, right, he shut it down. He was big
- 1:13:25Speaker 7: when he needed to be. So those are my three
- 1:13:29Speaker 7: stars of the week. All right, Well, I'll change it
- 1:13:31Speaker 7: up a little bit. My third star goes to Ben Myers.
- 1:13:34Speaker 6: I was real happy with how he played while he
- 1:13:37Speaker 6: was up, and I was a little disappointed to see
- 1:13:39Speaker 6: him go down. I think that he's definitely someone that's
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: got something to give to this team, and he's right
- 1:13:45Speaker 6: on the edge of being a full time cracking player.
- 1:13:48Speaker 6: So my third star goes to him, Ben Myers. My
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: second star goes to old Man old Man specifically and
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: Jordan Eberley and Jayden Schwartz. I like the way those
- 1:13:57Speaker 6: two guys played.
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: I want to clip this and play it back for
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: them in the r this next time I hear the conversation.
- 1:14:02Speaker 6: Being an old guy myself, I appreciate the way those
- 1:14:06Speaker 6: two guys have led over this past weekend, over the
- 1:14:08Speaker 6: season so far, and obviously contributing on the score sheet
- 1:14:11Speaker 6: as well. So second star absolutely goes to those two gentlemen.
- 1:14:15Speaker 6: And then my first star, Philip Gribauer. I don't have
- 1:14:18Speaker 6: to repeat everything that was said, come in in cold.
- 1:14:20Speaker 6: The way he played. I've seen him play for the
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: past two seasons plus you know this year as well.
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: I think the Winnipeg game was his best game that
- 1:14:30Speaker 6: I've personally seen him play. I wasn't here for the
- 1:14:33Speaker 6: playoffs in the second year. I hear a lot of
- 1:14:36Speaker 6: he looked like he did in that playoff run. So
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: if that's the way he's going to look when he plays,
- 1:14:40Speaker 6: he can be my first star every week.
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: Yeah, we're getting a lot of a lot of I know,
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: folks love this term.
- 1:14:45Speaker 7: We're getting a lot of flashbacks to playoff grooby the
- 1:14:49Speaker 7: last week here. I mean this season overall, right, but
- 1:14:53Speaker 7: I think in particular the last handful of games that
- 1:14:56Speaker 7: he's had to come in, you know, in Joey's absence and.
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: Of Matt Murray.
- 1:15:02Speaker 7: I mean, this is about as playoff groovy as we're
- 1:15:05Speaker 7: gonna get as we've seen since that playoff run.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: All right, beauty, great stuff, guys, Thank you very much
