2:23
Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
2:23
Speaker 4: Now from the Forks of Coal Foundation, Frank Culture is here.
2:27
Speaker 3: Good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
2:29
Speaker 5: Good morning, and thank you for having me on.
2:31
Speaker 4: You pulled that microphone a little bit closer to you there, sir.
2:33
Speaker 4: You don't have the Jim Strawn voice, you know, Thank
2:37
Speaker 4: thank goodness for that. Anyways, so Franks with us tell
2:40
Speaker 4: us about first of all, before we get you have
2:41
Speaker 4: a specific vigue on this weekend, tell us about the group,
2:45
Speaker 4: the Forks of Coal Foundation.
2:46
Speaker 3: What is it that you do well.
2:47
Speaker 5: The Forks of Coal is a state natural area located
2:50
Speaker 5: out about out on Quarter G about four miles south
2:54
Speaker 5: along Quarter G and it is a one hundred and
2:56
Speaker 5: fifty acre established park. It's a natural area. There's no bicycling,
3:02
Speaker 5: that's all pedestrian travel and hiking. We have three or
3:06
Speaker 5: four miles of hiking trails to do. And we have
3:09
Speaker 5: the Claudia L. Workman Education Center, which has animals that
3:15
Speaker 5: have been taxidermied and stuffed, and we have some live animals.
3:20
Speaker 5: We have the fifteen hundred gallon aquarium that has all
3:24
Speaker 5: the natural fish that's in the Coal River, so you
3:29
Speaker 5: can see what's in the Coal River.
3:31
Speaker 4: So now I wonder how many people though I mean,
3:34
Speaker 4: of course they've heard of your group, but many. I
3:36
Speaker 4: wonder how many people didn't know about that Wildlife Education Center.
3:39
Speaker 3: A lot, a lot.
3:40
Speaker 5: We have about seven thousand students come through a year
3:43
Speaker 5: with their school tours and everything, but we find so
3:46
Speaker 5: many people don't know about the center and don't know
3:50
Speaker 5: about the forks. It's a new area. It was donated
3:53
Speaker 5: to the state in twenty sixteen by Jack Workman, and
3:57
Speaker 5: the education center was dedicated to his wife, and it
4:01
Speaker 5: was started construction in twenty twenty and just finished in
4:05
Speaker 5: twenty twenty two. So we're fairly new and the foundation
4:09
Speaker 5: is a support group to back up the state and
4:12
Speaker 5: we have a group of volunteers that come out and
4:14
Speaker 5: help clean the trails and do things. And we are
4:17
Speaker 5: now starting an endowment campaign so that we'll have a
4:21
Speaker 5: lasting funding source to be able to match grants and
4:25
Speaker 5: expand our education programs and expand things inside the natural area.
4:30
Speaker 4: Now you said it's out on the corridor. Explain where
4:32
Speaker 4: it is for folks, what's the best way to describe it.
4:36
Speaker 5: If you're heading south towards Boone County, we're about four
4:39
Speaker 5: miles south of South Ridge and it's on the right
4:43
Speaker 5: hand side, okay, and it's just before you go you've
4:46
Speaker 5: got the double bridges going into Lincoln County and we're
4:50
Speaker 5: just before the second bridge.
4:52
Speaker 4: You have an event coming up this Saturday. It's called
4:54
Speaker 4: Rooted in Conversation, the Adopt a Tree fundraiser. Talk about that.
4:59
Speaker 5: Yes, that is our initial endowment campaign to raise money
5:06
Speaker 5: for the endowment. And we have we're gonna have seedlings
5:09
Speaker 5: that you can purchase and go out and plant in
5:11
Speaker 5: the forest and have your name on it. And with
5:13
Speaker 5: that you'll get a brick that'll go in our front
5:16
Speaker 5: walkway with your name and the year. We have memorial
5:20
Speaker 5: trees that we can get you can go out and
5:22
Speaker 5: select a mature tree in the forest and make it
5:25
Speaker 5: a memorial for a loved one in your family that
5:28
Speaker 5: you can go visit and see it grow and be
5:30
Speaker 5: in the woods with it. And we have a corporate
5:34
Speaker 5: grove that we can plant as a team event for
5:37
Speaker 5: your corporation to come out and and do and and
5:40
Speaker 5: plant fifty white pine trees into a grove. So it's
5:46
Speaker 5: it's a fairly forested property, but you know, we can
5:50
Speaker 5: always use more trees. The trees are gonna plant are
5:52
Speaker 5: gonna be native to West Virginia. They're gonna be nut
5:55
Speaker 5: bearing trees and the white pine trees.
5:59
Speaker 3: How many acres do you have out there?
6:01
Speaker 5: We currently have one hundred and fifty acres on what
6:03
Speaker 5: we're calling the north side, which is a developed side now,
6:07
Speaker 5: and the Probate has just granted us another one hundred
6:11
Speaker 5: and fifty acres on the other side of the Quarridor
6:15
Speaker 5: which we are developing and starting to open up.
6:18
Speaker 4: Talking to Frank Colder again from the Forks of Coal
6:20
Speaker 4: Foundation of Dave Island Show and five eighty Live Bright
6:22
Speaker 4: to you in part by your hometown baseball cheam, the
6:24
Speaker 4: Charleston and Dirty Birds believe it or not. Opening days
6:27
Speaker 4: coming up real soon next week. As a matter of fact,
6:29
Speaker 4: single game tickets and season tickets are on sale now
6:32
Speaker 4: at the website, and get your tickets for the May
6:34
Speaker 4: fifth WVU Marshall Baseball game over at Gomart Ballpark by
6:37
Speaker 4: visiting Dirty Birds Baseball dot com. You talked about the
6:41
Speaker 4: you know, corporations, companies getting involved in things like this.
6:44
Speaker 4: This would be a great team building thing for a company.
6:47
Speaker 4: They're always looking for outings like that, or for for
6:50
Speaker 4: you know, kids in school that are needing community service hours,
6:53
Speaker 4: or church groups or civic organizations, all kinds of great stuff.
6:56
Speaker 5: It is, it is, and you know the event is
7:00
Speaker 5: going to go from ten till noon. If corporation would
7:03
Speaker 5: want to do that, we can accommodate it. Just call
7:06
Speaker 5: us and get on our website Forks of Cold and
7:10
Speaker 5: contact us and we will we will work with you
7:13
Speaker 5: to come up with a day and time to come
7:15
Speaker 5: do that.
7:15
Speaker 4: It sounds like this thing is really exciting, and I
7:19
Speaker 4: think that the Workmen, I guess the Workman family.
7:21
Speaker 3: Should be commended for this.
7:23
Speaker 4: Center that they've put in out there, because again, I mean,
7:26
Speaker 4: it may be one of the best kept secrets around
7:27
Speaker 4: because I just don't think a lot of people know
7:29
Speaker 4: about it.
7:30
Speaker 3: But it sounds like you've got great things going on
7:31
Speaker 3: out there.
7:32
Speaker 5: We do. We have a lot of other events as well.
7:35
Speaker 3: Talk about those.
7:35
Speaker 2: We have.
7:36
Speaker 5: The Avian Center usually comes once or twice a year
7:38
Speaker 5: and brings their raptors, the eagles, the owls and everything
7:42
Speaker 5: and have those live birds there and talks about them.
7:46
Speaker 5: We'll have the Reptile Center down from Hurricane come in.
7:49
Speaker 5: We'll have fly fishing classes, and we'll have hikes led
7:54
Speaker 5: by naturalists out through the property at different times during
7:57
Speaker 5: the year. So you can check out our website and
8:00
Speaker 5: see the event listing and things, and we're welcome to
8:03
Speaker 5: do it. Part of the campaign for this is to
8:06
Speaker 5: get our marketing out and get our name out and
8:08
Speaker 5: have people come through. You have a lot of school
8:10
Speaker 5: groups come through now, but we have a lot of
8:12
Speaker 5: families come out and to come out and do the
8:15
Speaker 5: Governor's Mountaineer Mile on one of our trails. And the
8:19
Speaker 5: trails are fairly moderate, so they're not real technically difficult
8:23
Speaker 5: or anything, so come out and come out and visit us.
8:26
Speaker 4: So it is going to ask you about the difficulty
8:28
Speaker 4: of the trails, because I mean, when you hear the
8:30
Speaker 4: word trails, it can be any number of things. It
8:32
Speaker 4: could be almost like you're up in the Himalayans or something.
8:35
Speaker 3: But you can say.
8:35
Speaker 4: You'd have the ones that are more for people like me,
8:38
Speaker 4: that are almost like downtown streets.
8:39
Speaker 3: That's what I need.
8:40
Speaker 5: That's correct, And we have those trails all right.
8:43
Speaker 4: Again, give us the website or social media wherever people
8:46
Speaker 4: can learn more about this.
8:47
Speaker 5: If you look up forks of coal, that's all you
8:50
Speaker 5: have to type into your Google search and you'll get
8:52
Speaker 5: our web page, our Facebook page, the state's website and
8:58
Speaker 5: their web page, their Facebook page, and you can get
9:02
Speaker 5: to get to any of them through that.
9:04
Speaker 4: And review what else what ELL's going on this weekend
9:06
Speaker 4: and give us all the details on that.
9:08
Speaker 5: We are having a adopted tree programmed to where you
9:11
Speaker 5: can come out and purchase a seedling and plant out
9:15
Speaker 5: on a property we're having. The center will be open.
9:20
Speaker 5: You can go through the center and see everything that's there.
9:22
Speaker 5: It's a center and things start at what time ten o'clock?
9:26
Speaker 6: Right?
9:26
Speaker 3: I still new?
9:26
Speaker 4: All right, Frank, I appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot,
9:29

9:34
Speaker 3: That for you.
9:35
Speaker 5: Okay, we appreciate it.
9:36
Speaker 4: But you've got Jim Strawn out there, that's the king
9:38
Speaker 4: of the marketing, so he'll get a great job.
9:40
Speaker 3: He done well. Okay, he does something. But I'm kidding,
9:42
Speaker 3: I'm kidding. I know he's listening right now. Jim.
9:44
Speaker 4: Jimbo's a buddy so for the Coal Foundation, and you're

13:14
Speaker 4: Give just a little bio on Becky Jordan.
13:16
Speaker 8: Sure, I'm Becky Jordan. I've grown up in Charleston all
13:18
Speaker 8: my life. I'm a graduate of public schools in Kannall County.
13:24
Speaker 8: I married a man that's also a graduate of public schools,
13:27
Speaker 8: raised four children in the Kannall County school system. I
13:31
Speaker 8: am a clinical therapist at a local hospital. I do
13:37
Speaker 8: different therapies behavioral health, addiction and something I've done. You
13:45
Speaker 8: know a long time.
13:46
Speaker 3: And how long have you been on the school board.
13:48
Speaker 8: I've been on a school board for twenty four years?
13:50
Speaker 3: Okay, So why did you run in the first place?
13:52
Speaker 4: Because I want to just say, my of the changes
13:55
Speaker 4: you must have seen in public schools, it's twenty four
13:57
Speaker 4: hours we're talking about that.
13:58
Speaker 3: But what made you run for more of education? To
14:00
Speaker 3: begin with? Back?
14:01
Speaker 8: Okay, when I first ran twenty four years ago, I
14:03
Speaker 8: was very involved. I had four kids, all in every
14:06
Speaker 8: different age group of school system, and I noticed that
14:10
Speaker 8: everybody on the school board was retired and it was
14:13
Speaker 8: very unprofessional. I remember walking my baby watching it and
14:18
Speaker 8: they were yelling and it was so unprofessional. So I
14:21
Speaker 8: ran my first campaign as a paranorm board and I
14:25
Speaker 8: will be professional. And do you know I worked hard
14:29
Speaker 8: when I got on that board that if I disagreed
14:31
Speaker 8: with those board members, I made sure that when I
14:33
Speaker 8: left that boardroom, I was talking to him when we
14:35
Speaker 8: walked out, Because you can't have a board and not
14:38
Speaker 8: work well with everybody, and I felt like I've always
14:40
Speaker 8: worked well with all my board members, Okay, and.
14:44
Speaker 3: That's a big part of it too.
14:45
Speaker 8: It is because we have a lot of work to
14:47
Speaker 8: do together, and why don't we agree or not. We
14:49
Speaker 8: got to work on.
14:50
Speaker 3: It, right, right.
14:52
Speaker 4: What are you most proud of so far? One or
14:54
Speaker 4: two things that you're most proud of in your service
14:57
Speaker 4: WO to the people of kanawaccounting some.
15:00
Speaker 8: Of the beautiful schools that we've built. Herbert Hoover. I mean,
15:03
Speaker 8: I think it's the prettiest high school in the state
15:06
Speaker 8: of West Virginia, and those kids deserve it. I mean,
15:08
Speaker 8: living in portables for so many years, and so many
15:11
Speaker 8: of them lost their homes during a difficult time. So
15:16
Speaker 8: many of the different programs that we have in our
15:19
Speaker 8: school system, the different arts programs that we have, vo
15:22
Speaker 8: tech programs, We've always maintained a balanced budget. Our special
15:28
Speaker 8: head programs, our gifted programs, our music programs, our counseling programs,
15:34
Speaker 8: our professional development programs for our staff. We've done so
15:41
Speaker 8: much and we've had to close schools. Yeah, and more
15:44
Speaker 8: of that was just in the past few years.
15:46
Speaker 4: Yeah, And that's what that kind of leads me to
15:49
Speaker 4: my next point again, we're talking to Becky Jordan for
15:51
Speaker 4: the Kenawh County Board of Education.
15:53
Speaker 3: Last few years, Becky's you.
15:55
Speaker 4: Well know, have been tough on public education, not just
15:57
Speaker 4: in Canawha County but state wide nationwide. You know, first
16:00
Speaker 4: we had COVID that you had to deal with, then
16:02
Speaker 4: consolidations due to population loss, and dealing with aging buildings,
16:07
Speaker 4: aging infrastructures, things of that nature. And for better or
16:11
Speaker 4: for worse, more and more parents are choosing other ways
16:16
Speaker 4: other than traditional public school like you and I, you know,
16:20
Speaker 4: went to more and more people for one reason, another
16:22
Speaker 4: choosing that being homeschooling, private schools, charter schools, you know, hope, scholarship,
16:26
Speaker 4: whatever the case may be. As a board member, how
16:30
Speaker 4: do board members and school staffs navigate through all that,
16:33
Speaker 4: because that's a lot.
16:34
Speaker 8: It's difficult. You know, when we lose in Roma, we
16:37
Speaker 8: have to cut staff and we lose funding. But we
16:41
Speaker 8: feel like, I mean, you know, we're always going to
16:43
Speaker 8: advocate for public school and I think parents should have
16:46
Speaker 8: a choice. They're the parent they know best for their child.
16:50
Speaker 8: But I'm a big supporter because I grew up my
16:53
Speaker 8: memories of my public schools and walking to Jay Robbins
16:56
Speaker 8: and Woodrow, Wilson and Stonewall. I mean I just had
17:01
Speaker 8: the best memories and going to sporting events and pep
17:05
Speaker 8: rallies and everything I had the opportunity to have. That's
17:09
Speaker 8: my job to help provide for children here in Kannall County,
17:12
Speaker 8: the ones that their parents choose that for them. And
17:14
Speaker 8: I feel like we have lost a lot of parents
17:16
Speaker 8: that have left our community, you know. But yeah, a
17:20
Speaker 8: lot have chosen to take the Hope money and do
17:23
Speaker 8: other education.
17:25
Speaker 4: Yeah, we're talking to Becky Jordan again from the Kadah
17:27
Speaker 4: County Board of Education who is running for reelection. Yeah,
17:30
Speaker 4: it has been a very difficult time. I mean navigating through,
17:34
Speaker 4: as I said, through COVID and all these other things.
17:37
Speaker 4: When you're out on the campaign trail, or even when
17:39
Speaker 4: you're not campaigning, Becky, when you're just talking to people
17:42
Speaker 4: at you know, Kroger, you're at church or wherever you
17:45
Speaker 4: may be. What do you hear from parents, grandparents of
17:48
Speaker 4: students in Kanawh County.
17:49
Speaker 3: What do they tell you?
17:52
Speaker 8: Well, it just depends what's going on at that time.
17:59
Speaker 8: Years ago, you know, different parents wanted to transfer maybe
18:03
Speaker 8: different schools and schools were more crowded, we couldn't do that.
18:10
Speaker 8: You know, it's all, it all varies just what's going
18:14
Speaker 8: on in the community.
18:17
Speaker 11: I feel like overall, I mean, they know that their
18:21
Speaker 11: staff is always approachable at their schools are even our superintendent,
18:26
Speaker 11: you can get a hold of her any day.
18:28
Speaker 8: So not everybody's always going to be happy, but I
18:31
Speaker 8: feel like if they have an issue, they can get
18:34
Speaker 8: answers and almost in the same day from our staff.
18:38
Speaker 4: And you know, we talked about consolidation earlier, and let's
18:41
Speaker 4: be honest here, nobody wants to see that. Nobody wants
18:44
Speaker 4: to see their community because when in my opinion, I
18:49
Speaker 4: saw it happen, you know, time and time again of
18:52
Speaker 4: my time on Earth is when communities lose those schools,
18:56
Speaker 4: a bit of the community goes away with it. But
18:58
Speaker 4: sometimes it's a economics. Sometimes it just costs more to
19:02
Speaker 4: keep those schools operating. And sometimes I think maybe those
19:06
Speaker 4: outside the realm don't don't understand that that that you're
19:10
Speaker 4: putting more a lot more money into it, right, and
19:14
Speaker 4: that can be very.
19:14
Speaker 8: We have a lot of we have a lot of
19:16
Speaker 8: older schools and one thing I didn't I failed to
19:19
Speaker 8: Menia something very proud of is you know, when I
19:22
Speaker 8: first started on the school board, I think I can
19:25
Speaker 8: think of one school that had security system to get
19:29
Speaker 8: in and I remember at the time thinking it was
19:31
Speaker 8: kind of city elementary, I think, and I remember thinking
19:33
Speaker 8: why would they have that? And now we don't have
19:37
Speaker 8: one school that doesn't have security system. I mean, it's
19:40
Speaker 8: just changing of what's going on in our world too. Yeah,
19:43
Speaker 8: And we spend a lot of money to keep our
19:45
Speaker 8: schools safe. And we have the different officers that are
19:49
Speaker 8: in plain clothing that are in schools every day, and
19:52
Speaker 8: then we have other officers that are in their uniforms
19:55
Speaker 8: that are in the schools. I mean, we do everything
19:57
Speaker 8: to keep our children safe.
20:00
Speaker 4: Have definitely changed, I mean I can I can remember,
20:03
Speaker 4: you know, back in the day, you know, parents coming
20:05
Speaker 4: to school or anybody just just walk right into school
20:08
Speaker 4: and go. But it's different times, you know, you certainly
20:10
Speaker 4: certainly can't and some of the schools that I have
20:12
Speaker 4: traveled to back in a former job, and I used
20:14
Speaker 4: to go into a lot of public schools around south
20:16
Speaker 4: of West Virginia when I was I was working in
20:18
Speaker 4: the Secretary of State's office and used to go to
20:19
Speaker 4: voter registration drives, and I mean I could have gotten
20:22
Speaker 4: into Fort Knox.
20:23
Speaker 3: Easier than that. Couldn't these schools.
20:24
Speaker 4: But but but it is, it's part of it, you know,
20:29
Speaker 4: it's I mean, it's part of where we are right now.
20:33
Speaker 4: So when you go out on the campaign trail, I
20:34
Speaker 4: ask you what people say to you? What do you
20:36
Speaker 4: say to them?
20:37
Speaker 2: What? What?
20:37
Speaker 3: What? What's your message to them?
20:40
Speaker 8: Well that our goal was always to educate and to
20:44
Speaker 8: help our children, prepare our children for the next step
20:47
Speaker 8: in life. And that's our goal in kind of county schools.
20:50
Speaker 8: And our goal right now is we want all of
20:52
Speaker 8: our children to graduate with their cohorts and and the
20:58
Speaker 8: staff know that we were with them. We don't want
21:02
Speaker 8: any child left behind. We want them all to graduate
21:05
Speaker 8: so they have many opportunities when they do.
21:08
Speaker 4: And it is amazing to me, Becky, some of the
21:13
Speaker 4: stories that we hear from our public schools and how
21:15
Speaker 4: far our kids go from West Virginia, you know, I mean,
21:18
Speaker 4: we all know that every boy and girl in those
21:20
Speaker 4: classrooms have got potential in some way, and it's just
21:24
Speaker 4: I guess up to the teachers and others to try
21:26
Speaker 4: to bring that out to them and let's in your
21:29
Speaker 4: twenty four years you've been on the school board. You
21:31
Speaker 4: know the parenting situations have changed too. They're at home situation,
21:36
Speaker 4: and I think sometimes forget that teachers in twenty twenty
21:40
Speaker 4: six are asked to be so much more than what
21:43
Speaker 4: they were thirty years ago.
21:44
Speaker 3: Oh.
21:45
Speaker 8: Absolutely, And that's another reason that I am a big
21:48
Speaker 8: public school supporter, because I feel like adults need to
21:51
Speaker 8: put their eyes on children. Are they being are they safe?
21:56
Speaker 8: Are they being harmed? Are they being fed? Are they
21:59
Speaker 8: getting medical attention? And that's something adults will know if
22:04
Speaker 8: they're around their children, And that's so important.
22:07
Speaker 4: Talking about you, Jordan again from the Knawk County Board
22:09
Speaker 4: of Education, who's running for reelection to the board. The

22:34
Speaker 4: of what's on your wish list? I know you're part
22:36
Speaker 4: of a board, so you can't go in and just say, well,
22:38
Speaker 4: I want to do this and this, but what are
22:39
Speaker 4: some things you'd like to work on in the future
22:41
Speaker 4: if re elected with who whomever you are elected with,
22:44
Speaker 4: what's some things that need to be done in Knoncundy
22:46
Speaker 4: schools in your opinion?
22:47
Speaker 8: Sadly it's not a happy goal, but we will have
22:50
Speaker 8: to consolidate some schools. We will be closing schools because
22:55
Speaker 8: we have to balance our budget. But the goal will
22:59
Speaker 8: always be to provide our kids with the best education.
23:03
Speaker 8: You know, wherever we're putting them in schools, it's all
23:06
Speaker 8: about getting them the best education, really and we will.
23:09
Speaker 8: I will continue working with that and provide our staff
23:12
Speaker 8: with the tools to do that.
23:15
Speaker 4: You have a Facebook or website or anything like that
23:18
Speaker 4: people can find.
23:19
Speaker 9: I do not.
23:20
Speaker 8: I do not, but anyone anyone can call me on myself.
23:23
Speaker 8: Look on kind of County school website. My number is
23:26
Speaker 8: posted on it and feel free to call me.
23:30
Speaker 3: I don't mind at all, and trust me, people do
23:33
Speaker 3: call you.
23:33
Speaker 8: Sure, that's fine.
23:35
Speaker 3: I've told this story before.
23:36
Speaker 4: My cousin was the president of the school board in
23:40
Speaker 4: another county, and he told me about the kind of
23:43
Speaker 4: phone calls that you guys. I mean, you know, you
23:45
Speaker 4: sign up for it, but sometimes it can be And
23:47
Speaker 4: I had another friend who served on a board of
23:49
Speaker 4: education in northern West Virginia. He said, everybody should have
23:51
Speaker 4: to do it. It should be like jury duty. Everybody should
23:54
Speaker 4: have to do it. So I do a thing with
23:56
Speaker 4: every candidate. Beck you call the final thirty and I
23:58
Speaker 4: just basically ask it. I don't time, so it's totally
24:00
Speaker 4: your time. Why should someone vote to keep Becky Jordan
24:03
Speaker 4: on the Kenaw Candy Bard of Education.
24:06
Speaker 8: Because I do, I do listen, and I've been very
24:11
Speaker 8: accessible to everyone in this community for the past twenty
24:14
Speaker 8: four years, and we are going through some troubling times
24:17
Speaker 8: with our enrollment and staffing, and with my institutional knowledge,
24:22
Speaker 8: I feel that I can stay on the course for
24:26

28:11
Speaker 4: Treasurer Larry Pack is here morning, sir.
28:13
Speaker 7: How you doing great? How are you beautiful morning?
28:15
Speaker 4: It is a beautiful morning, so they tell me, I
28:17
Speaker 4: wouldn't know. I'm trying to get a window, Larry, your
28:22
Speaker 4: State treasure Can you get me a window?
28:23
Speaker 7: So oh absolutely, I think we can do get this.
28:25
Speaker 7: I mean just so I could just like see what's
28:27
Speaker 7: out there. It is absolutely gorgeous. Look at it, gorgeous
28:30
Speaker 7: spring morning. No class.
28:32
Speaker 4: I want to talk for a moment about the Hope
28:33
Speaker 4: scholarship applications. Now well over what twenty thousand?
28:37
Speaker 3: Talk about them?
28:38
Speaker 7: Yeah, we want to give an update, so that mostly
28:42
Speaker 7: we give an update so the legislature, governor, everybody knows
28:44
Speaker 7: how many people are signed up. So we got about
28:46
Speaker 7: twenty thousand students signed up. It's about eight thousand new
28:49
Speaker 7: students from last year. So it seems like we had
28:52
Speaker 7: a lot of activity. Not every student from that was
28:56
Speaker 7: Hope last year is also signed up, but twenty thousand total.
28:59
Speaker 7: We've got two months left in sign ups. We're going
29:02
Speaker 7: to go to June fifteenth. We're estimating somewhere into thirty
29:05
Speaker 7: thousand range as far as parents and students that will
29:09
Speaker 7: take advantage of the Hope Scholarships. So again we're trying
29:12
Speaker 7: to build awareness, trying to make sure everybody knows that
29:13
Speaker 7: you got too much to sign up. We try and
29:15
Speaker 7: encourage people to sign up early so we don't have
29:17
Speaker 7: a big rush toward towards the end. But you know,
29:20
Speaker 7: when it comes to education choice, I don't think there's
29:22
Speaker 7: anything other than maybe the face journey of your child
29:25
Speaker 7: that the parents work on more and think about more
29:27
Speaker 7: and pray about more. So a lot of parents are
29:29
Speaker 7: taking advantage of this alternative for their children.
29:32
Speaker 4: What's the biggest misconception about the Hope Scholarship to you, say, Traaserel,
29:36
Speaker 4: I think the biggest misconception is that parents are not
29:39
Speaker 4: thoughtfully making their choice.
29:42
Speaker 7: I think people really get that wrong. I mean, again,
29:44
Speaker 7: the majority, the majority of students will go to public schools. Right,
29:48
Speaker 7: we go about two hundred thirty thousand into public schools,
29:51
Speaker 7: So it makes sense we'll want to have some that
29:53
Speaker 7: choose a different path. We know one size does not
29:56
Speaker 7: fit all. I have six children, They're all different, they
29:59
Speaker 7: all learn different, and that's really what parents are dealing with.
30:03
Speaker 7: They're trying to get their children a good education, the
30:06
Speaker 7: education that fits their child, which is different, and they
30:11
Speaker 7: make really thoughtful decisions. And so what Hope Scholarship does
30:14
Speaker 7: is give parents the option to make these decisions.
30:17
Speaker 4: What would you say to those state treasurer who would
30:21
Speaker 4: say it hurts public schools.
30:23
Speaker 7: I really don't think so. On the margins, we really
30:25
Speaker 7: believe that. We believe the very few students that currently
30:29
Speaker 7: choose Hope Scholarship would have went public schools. We are
30:31
Speaker 7: thinking of our current sixteen thousand for this school year,
30:34
Speaker 7: we think maybe a couple of thousand would have went
30:36
Speaker 7: to public schools. Otherwise, two thousand over fifty five counties
30:40
Speaker 7: is not a lot of students, so we don't really
30:42
Speaker 7: think that's the big driver. Most of our students that
30:45
Speaker 7: are taking advantage of Hope Scholarship, we believe would have
30:48
Speaker 7: went Hope Scholarship anyway, I excuse me, would have went
30:50
Speaker 7: private school, would have went to homeschool anyway. So that's
30:54
Speaker 7: what we're seeing so for and I think it's what
30:55
Speaker 7: we're seeing seeing nationwide. But it is an alternative for
30:59
Speaker 7: parents who think that their particular public school doesn't fit
31:02
Speaker 7: their child's needs. It is interesting that you said that
31:04
Speaker 7: about how every kid's different. I know a person who
31:08
Speaker 7: has five kids and they were Of those five kids,
31:10
Speaker 7: I think like two went to public school, one was homeschooled,
31:13
Speaker 7: one went to private school. So I guess you know,
31:15
Speaker 7: parents know their kids, as you said, parents know their kids.
31:18
Speaker 7: And there's some there's some children you can put in
31:19
Speaker 7: any setting, they're going to be successful. There's other children
31:22
Speaker 7: that need to be and like I have one of
31:24
Speaker 7: my one of my sons, he needed to be in
31:26
Speaker 7: a smaller system. They just he worked, weren't worth much
31:28
Speaker 7: better for him. But again, parents are thoughtfully making these decisions. Uh,
31:32
Speaker 7: this legislation, this this program gives them an opportunity for
31:36
Speaker 7: choice and again in basically the money can follow the parent.
31:40
Speaker 7: So for all as the students who we think it's
31:41
Speaker 7: a really good program, but we do not think it
31:44
Speaker 7: is really creating a lot of the issues that the
31:47
Speaker 7: public school system is and the public school system absolutely
31:49
Speaker 7: is has a lot of issues. You know what a
31:51
Speaker 7: high mark back number of years we had six hundred
31:54
Speaker 7: thousand students over six hundred thousand students in public schools.
31:57
Speaker 7: We're down about two thirty and we still have a
32:00
Speaker 7: lot of the same infrastructure. So it's really difficult for
32:03
Speaker 7: the public school systems to ract, particularly since we have
32:06
Speaker 7: this very regimented system about how they're supposed to do
32:09
Speaker 7: what they're supposed to do. And so I'm hoping that
32:11
Speaker 7: we really get some focus on public schools. Our Board
32:15
Speaker 7: of Educations, our superintendents, our teachers need help. They need
32:19
Speaker 7: us from a big picture to really come down and
32:21
Speaker 7: try to help them. And we need to make some decisions.
32:23
Speaker 7: How many schools do we need to close, how we're
32:26
Speaker 7: going to change it, change the funding port deal. Do
32:29
Speaker 7: we want to pay teachers adequately or do we want
32:31
Speaker 7: to pay teachers fifty percent we'll be in fifty percent
32:34
Speaker 7: which we are now, or fiftieth place as we are now.
32:36
Speaker 7: So I think we've got some big issues with public
32:38
Speaker 7: school and I don't know other you know, public schools roads.
32:41
Speaker 7: I'm not sure which is one and which is two
32:43
Speaker 7: when it comes to state government, right, But they're definitely one.
32:46
Speaker 1: And too.
32:48
Speaker 4: When it comes to public We're talking to State Treasurer
32:51
Speaker 4: Larry Pack when it comes to public schools, and I
32:53
Speaker 4: wouldn't say, since you threw it out their roads, we'll
32:55
Speaker 4: put them together. You think the legislature has done enough
32:57
Speaker 4: in your opinion, state government and the legislature.
33:00
Speaker 7: Well, I think in uh, first of all, go I'll
33:02
Speaker 7: go go with the With roads, I think we've really
33:05
Speaker 7: lost a lot of momentum the last couple of years
33:07
Speaker 7: on roads. You know, think that the legislature has added
33:11
Speaker 7: money to the budgets the last couple of years, uh,
33:13
Speaker 7: money to the governor's budget for roads. But I travel
33:17
Speaker 7: with Rest Virginia all the time. You know West Virginia's
33:19
Speaker 7: we live on two lane roads. We don't live on
33:20
Speaker 7: four lane roads. And our two lane roads need a
33:23
Speaker 7: lot of help and they need a lot of attention.
33:24
Speaker 7: So the government, the legislature restored some of the money
33:27
Speaker 7: that the governor cut out last year to the to
33:30
Speaker 7: the to the road fund, but we need to do more.
33:32
Speaker 7: I do think we're kind of going the wrong direction there.
33:35
Speaker 7: And then with schools, we really we just haven't faced
33:39
Speaker 7: the issue that our school systems are struggling, and they're
33:43
Speaker 7: struggling because of the loss of students with basically the
33:45
Speaker 7: same overhead. We're also struggling that you know, liked for
33:49
Speaker 7: the last couple of years on teacher salaries, we've given
33:51
Speaker 7: them a three percent raise, one and a half percent
33:53
Speaker 7: raise the last two years. Inflation's just crushing this right, crushing.
33:58
Speaker 7: Inflation has probably been seven eight percent. So we're paying
34:01
Speaker 7: our teachers less than we were. We're still in fiftieth place.
34:04
Speaker 7: So we're saying we're having trouble retaining teachers. We're having
34:07
Speaker 7: trouble attacked tracting teachers, and it's because we're not paying enough.
34:10
Speaker 7: You know, if you if you go to Western Attack
34:12
Speaker 7: for four years, I'm a golden bear. You come out
34:15
Speaker 7: in your starting salary about forty two thousand dollars. You
34:18
Speaker 7: can go to Target without going for your education and
34:21
Speaker 7: get the same.
34:22
Speaker 3: We need to do better.
34:23
Speaker 4: Talking to again with State Treasurer Larry Pack, I want
34:25
Speaker 4: to talk pot for a moment, as in the medical
34:28
Speaker 4: marijuana fund.
34:29
Speaker 3: So now correct me if I'm wrong in any of this.
34:31
Speaker 3: So the governor.
34:33
Speaker 4: Vetoed Hbill fifty seventy four, basically changing the distributions in
34:39
Speaker 4: the medical cannabis funding. So now the money goes out,
34:41
Speaker 4: fifty five percent of the revenue goes to the Bureau
34:44
Speaker 4: of Public Health. The rest of fund funds to fight
34:47
Speaker 4: substance abuse, some for grants, uff law enforcement training, di
34:49
Speaker 4: version programs.
34:50
Speaker 3: Et cetera. So break all this down and explain what
34:54
Speaker 3: it means.
34:54
Speaker 7: Okay, So a couple of things that were happening during
34:57
Speaker 7: this session. I think the first thing was happening was
35:00
Speaker 7: we became aware I think last summer I became aware
35:02
Speaker 7: of last summer, maybe maybe even earlier last summer, that
35:05
Speaker 7: the money that was in the medical Marijuana Fund had
35:09
Speaker 7: been frozen since the inception of the program back in
35:12
Speaker 7: twenty sixteen or twenty seventeen, and it built up, and
35:15
Speaker 7: so there's about thirty million dollars. And the reason it
35:18
Speaker 7: was frozen is that when it was initially put in place,
35:22
Speaker 7: the federal government took a really hard line on money
35:25
Speaker 7: that came from the selling marijuana, even medical marijuana, So
35:29
Speaker 7: we could not from the state standpoint, the two previous
35:31
Speaker 7: treasurers couldn't figure out how to put the money into
35:35
Speaker 7: the bank account so it could be spent. So it
35:36
Speaker 7: was setting in a credit union. So we spent about
35:39
Speaker 7: six months work through all that that got the money
35:41
Speaker 7: freed up, and that happened about the time the legislature
35:43
Speaker 7: was out of session that we finally got the money
35:45
Speaker 7: freed up where it's now in the state's bank account
35:47
Speaker 7: that can be accessed and go for progress. The legislature
35:52
Speaker 7: what they were working on the entire session is they
35:55
Speaker 7: basically went back and revisited the allocations that were set
35:58
Speaker 7: forth back in the twenty sixteen t twenty seventeen and
36:01
Speaker 7: probably the first or second year Governor Justice administration, and
36:04
Speaker 7: they thought that it needed to be changed. So what
36:07
Speaker 7: the legislature wanted to do in the bill was they
36:11
Speaker 7: wanted a portion of the money just to go into
36:13
Speaker 7: general fund and they wanted the other portion to go
36:15
Speaker 7: through But basically some studies and some research the original
36:19
Speaker 7: bill said again about half of it goes to public health,
36:22
Speaker 7: half of it goes to some other things. So the
36:25
Speaker 7: governor basically didn't like the new allocation. His veto message
36:31
Speaker 7: kind of was a little confusion to me. It sounded
36:32
Speaker 7: like he wanted more money for tax cuts, and really,
36:35
Speaker 7: if he had let it go through, we'd had more
36:37
Speaker 7: money in general fund.
36:37
Speaker 3: So just basically we just changed.
36:39
Speaker 7: We basically went back to the original allocation that was
36:42
Speaker 7: in place in twenty sixteen twenty seventeen, the legislature at
36:45
Speaker 7: that time that they chose. So we're going back to that.
36:48
Speaker 7: Half of it basically goes to the public health and
36:50
Speaker 7: the other parts go to other directions, but none of
36:53
Speaker 7: it will going to general fund.
36:54
Speaker 4: Now, talk again with State Treasurer Larry Pack all right,
36:57
Speaker 4: so I want to talk some politics.
36:59
Speaker 3: You good to talk a little policy.
37:00
Speaker 7: Sure, this is a season that four or four weeks
37:03
Speaker 7: from today.
37:03
Speaker 4: I don't know whether you know this or not, but
37:05
Speaker 4: there's there's an election coming. Yes, there really should be
37:07
Speaker 4: more signs. There should be more has been traveling this week.
37:10
Speaker 4: I've been watching seeing a lot of signs in the
37:12
Speaker 4: last couple of weeks. So the governor UH and the
37:16
Speaker 4: first Lady Secretary have been making endorsements out of the
37:19
Speaker 4: May twelfth primary, endorsing some Republicans over others.
37:24
Speaker 3: Your your thoughts on.
37:25
Speaker 7: That, Well, it's it's the first time that in my
37:28
Speaker 7: lifetime that that this has ever happened. And I've watched
37:32
Speaker 7: and participate in a lot of elections over over over
37:35
Speaker 7: my lifetime. So we've never seen a governor come out front,
37:39
Speaker 7: UH and involve himself in in the primaries in a
37:43
Speaker 7: very very forceful way and also raised you know, one
37:47
Speaker 7: hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars to UH
37:50
Speaker 7: to beat some people and the election some people. So
37:53
Speaker 7: this is really new territory UH for for West Virginia.
37:58
Speaker 7: And it's created a lot of dissension.
38:00
Speaker 3: I think.
38:00
Speaker 7: I think we had a lot of dissension anyway the
38:03
Speaker 7: last couple of years, and we've seen that in the
38:05
Speaker 7: legislature from the lack of progress in the legislature, and
38:09
Speaker 7: this is definitely going to it has tuned it up.
38:13
Speaker 7: So there'll be millions of dollars spent in this election
38:16
Speaker 7: at a lot of hard feelings I think are going
38:18
Speaker 7: to be created. I don't think there's anything that's going
38:20
Speaker 7: to happen four weeks in the day that's going to
38:22
Speaker 7: change the trajectory of West Virginia that's going to help
38:26
Speaker 7: West Vinia move forward. If anything, I think it's going
38:29
Speaker 7: to harden feelings and I think it's going to be
38:32
Speaker 7: more and more difficult to get things done going forward.
38:35
Speaker 4: I said this on talk line when they invited me
38:37
Speaker 4: on yesterday, Treasurer. I said, Look, nobody's naive enough to
38:41
Speaker 4: think that in the past that a governor, no matter
38:43
Speaker 4: who they were or what their party was, didn't have
38:46
Speaker 4: in their mind who they wanted elected to certain seats.
38:50
Speaker 4: I mean, and they may have made a phone call,
38:52
Speaker 4: they may have gotten together for a cocktail or whatever
38:57
Speaker 4: and said, hey, you need to support something. But I
38:58
Speaker 4: don't know that we've again about said that's right or wrong.
39:00
Speaker 4: I'm just not I'm like you, I don't know what
39:02
Speaker 4: I've seen it as overt as what it is now. Well,
39:04
Speaker 4: not only the governor but also the first lady out,
39:08
Speaker 4: you know, basically saying don't vote for this guy, I
39:11
Speaker 4: vote for this guy instead.
39:12
Speaker 1: Yeah.
39:13
Speaker 7: No, I think it's exactly right there. So you saw
39:14
Speaker 7: a little sneaking around and so forth. I think the
39:16
Speaker 7: other thing is that for many years, and particularly when
39:18
Speaker 7: the Democrat Party had the supermajorities, you basically had the
39:21
Speaker 7: labor faction and the business faction. Right, this is a
39:24
Speaker 7: little different in that if you if you look at
39:26
Speaker 7: the at the at the slate, if you will, uh,
39:29
Speaker 7: that's that's been proffered by the governor. They're basically those
39:34
Speaker 7: those candidates, to me, they they they cover the entire
39:37
Speaker 7: spectrum of a Republican or anything body you could call Republicans,
39:41
Speaker 7: So they don't really fit in a box. And so
39:44
Speaker 7: some of them are are what we'd almost call very
39:47
Speaker 7: liberal Republicans, good people, but very liberal Republicans to the
39:50
Speaker 7: most conservative conservative that you could think of. And so
39:54
Speaker 7: so it's really kind of interesting how it's kind of
39:56
Speaker 7: coming out. But I do think at the end of
39:57
Speaker 7: the day, we're going to get back into next session
40:00
Speaker 7: going to be very similar to this session. I'm not
40:01
Speaker 7: running your bill because you worked against me, you're not
40:05
Speaker 7: my friend, or the governor doesn't want this bill run
40:07
Speaker 7: because he said something about that. So so just creates
40:10
Speaker 7: a dissension. And we know that, you know, a house
40:12
Speaker 7: divided will not stand right. So we're not going to
40:16
Speaker 7: move forward to work on the things that West Virginians
40:18
Speaker 7: care about. I think we're going to continue to pay
40:20
Speaker 7: the play these petty politics. We're going to continue to
40:23
Speaker 7: have a lot of infighting, and West Virginia is not
40:25
Speaker 7: going to move forward.
40:27
Speaker 4: And you know, you travel a lot, as you said,
40:30
Speaker 4: and you're on your way out of here, head heading
40:32
Speaker 4: somewhere else. What do you hear from people when you're
40:34
Speaker 4: out there just about anything. I mean when you are
40:37
Speaker 4: going to a town hall, or you're going to a
40:40
Speaker 4: school or a city hall or whatever it is you do.
40:42
Speaker 7: What do you hear from the people in West Virginia?
40:44
Speaker 7: Therey West Virginians are the best people in the world.
40:48
Speaker 7: But the end of the day, when you talk to him,
40:51
Speaker 7: you ask him what's important to you. It always starts
40:54
Speaker 7: with jobs. Jobs for my family, A better job from
40:57
Speaker 7: me so I can I can raise my family better
40:59
Speaker 7: and I can do some things for my family. Jobs
41:02
Speaker 7: for my children, jobs for my grandchildren. You know, we've
41:05
Speaker 7: got small town problems, We've got rural American problems, right,
41:09
Speaker 7: but all these problems can be mitigated if they have jobs.
41:11
Speaker 7: So people want jobs and want opportunity and want those
41:14
Speaker 7: jobs today, you know, and we went backwards in jobs
41:16
Speaker 7: the last the last couple of years. They also want
41:18
Speaker 7: good roads, and no one's out there bragging on our roads. Right,
41:23
Speaker 7: We're not at the place we were maybe ten years.
41:26
Speaker 4: You get the people to do front end alignments, yeah, yeah, yeah,
41:29
Speaker 4: I think they're little sell tires.
41:30
Speaker 7: Yeah, but they want roads, they want clean water, and
41:33
Speaker 7: so it's just if they don't understand why. You know,
41:36
Speaker 7: for example, the Water Development Authority has about eighty million
41:38
Speaker 7: dollars sitting in the account for the last eighteen months,
41:41
Speaker 7: and we've got areas in West Virginia that need clean water,
41:43
Speaker 7: and we just don't seem to have a sense of urgency.
41:46
Speaker 7: So what I get is, what are you doing to
41:48
Speaker 7: help me? What are you doing to help me today?
41:49
Speaker 7: You know, the cost of living is really hurting our citizens.
41:53
Speaker 7: We're our per AFFID incomes fifty one fifty two thousand dollars.
41:57
Speaker 7: Try to raise a family of four on that, with
42:00
Speaker 7: the cost of electricity, the cost of medical care, it's
42:04
Speaker 7: really really tough. And so just jobs, fix the roads,
42:08
Speaker 7: good schools, pair teachers. That's the things that people care about.
42:13
Speaker 7: And other than that, leave me alone. That's what westernini.
42:17
Speaker 7: You leave me alone, more local control, less top down
42:20
Speaker 7: stuff from state Earth.
42:21
Speaker 4: I think that would have looked good better on the
42:22
Speaker 4: flag than mountaineers are always free.
42:24
Speaker 3: You just put this, Just leave me, leave me alone,
42:26
Speaker 3: absolutely all right.
42:28
Speaker 4: I want to ask you something. Okay, yes, you're always good,
42:30
Speaker 4: great about answering any question. I asked a lot of
42:33
Speaker 4: speculation that come twenty twenty eight, we might see Larry
42:37
Speaker 4: PAX's named about it for Governor of West Virginia.
42:39
Speaker 3: How likely is that?
42:41
Speaker 7: I answered that question yesterday, So here's our answer. Yesterday
42:43
Speaker 7: I answered the same day. Five years ago. I was
42:46
Speaker 7: in the healthcare business, and then if you asked me
42:48
Speaker 7: then what my plan was. My plan was to be
42:50
Speaker 7: in that business until I retired because I love that business.
42:55
Speaker 7: Five years hence I found myself as treasurer. So my
42:58
Speaker 7: last five year plan didn't work out very well. I
43:01
Speaker 7: saw'll leave the next five year plan at the Lord
43:03
Speaker 7: and he'll decide where we're going to do and what
43:05
Speaker 7: we're going to do. But we're going to continue to
43:07
Speaker 7: work hard for West Virginias. We're going to continue to
43:09
Speaker 7: travel West Virginia and try to understand better what West
43:12
Speaker 7: engine want and bring that back to Charleston. But again,
43:15
Speaker 7: as West Virginians, you know when you're in last place,
43:18
Speaker 7: you've got to work together to get out a last
43:20
Speaker 7: place or get out of forty ninth place. This infighting
43:23
Speaker 7: is not helping West Virginians.
43:25
Speaker 4: So Joseer, Larry Pack always a pleasure to have in
43:27
Speaker 4: the show. I appreciate you being here, Thanks sir, and
43:29

47:05
Speaker 4: And I think a lot of things in my opinion,
47:07
Speaker 4: and this is not me speaking for Larry Pack. This
47:09
Speaker 4: is I think a lot of things depend on on
47:11
Speaker 4: on other factors between now and then, and it's been
47:14
Speaker 4: a meteoric rise for Larry Pack if you think about it.
47:18
Speaker 4: He said, at this time five years ago he was
47:20
Speaker 4: in the healthcare field, and now you know he goes
47:21
Speaker 4: on to be chief of staff for the for then
47:23
Speaker 4: Governor Justice and now he's state treasurers. So see what

47:45
Speaker 4: There is some concern in Greenbrier County as we get
47:49
Speaker 4: ready for the primary election. That redistricting there happened a
47:52
Speaker 4: few years ago, and some are concerned that people aren't
47:55
Speaker 4: going to know where to vote. Now, there's a meeting
47:57
Speaker 4: being scheduled tonight to talk about it. The Greenbrier County
48:00
Speaker 4: Clerk's office is involved, the ACLU Secretary of State's office,
48:03
Speaker 4: so on and so forth. We're going to get into
48:05
Speaker 4: that story a little bit, plus more fallout from the

49:39
Speaker 3: We shall see.
49:40
Speaker 4: Sad story Jeff Jenkins posted wv Metro News dot com
49:44
Speaker 4: is show the story actually broke while I was on
49:46
Speaker 4: the show yesterday.
49:48
Speaker 3: The murder at Walmart and Nitro.
49:50
Speaker 4: According to Nitro Police in Connaw County Sheriff's Office, Eric
49:54
Speaker 4: Richmond is alleged to a shot and killed a worker
49:56
Speaker 4: at the Walmart, Misty Williams, age forty, of Dunbar. She
50:00
Speaker 4: went to a car to take a break from work
50:02
Speaker 4: and never came back, and her fellow workers got worried
50:04
Speaker 4: about it went out to check on her. Apparently, Eric
50:06
Speaker 4: Richmond and Misty Williams did have kids together. Investigation continues again.
50:10
Speaker 4: Jeff writes about it this morning wv Metronews dot com.
50:15
Speaker 4: Now to quickly the Trump posting on truth Social.
50:19
Speaker 3: You know all about it?
50:20
Speaker 4: Trump sharing a picture on Truth's Social of him as
50:23
Speaker 4: the Great Healer outraged people, saying some people said it
50:26
Speaker 4: wasn't real. It was so apparently it was created months
50:29
Speaker 4: before by someone else. But for those saying the President
50:33
Speaker 4: didn't post it, he did. He admitted it that he
50:35
Speaker 4: shared it, saying saying he saw it as him being
50:40
Speaker 4: a doctor. Is it blasphemy? Many people saw it that way? Oh,
50:44
Speaker 4: there's not so much. If indeed, as the President said,
50:47
Speaker 4: he thought it showed him as a doctor, I think
50:49
Speaker 4: that leads to bigger questions about his cognitive abilities. Someone
50:54
Speaker 4: said it was just Trump trolling the pope. My question is,
50:59
Speaker 4: why is the president of the United States trolling anyone?
51:02
Speaker 4: And do you really want to pick a fight with
51:04
Speaker 4: the pope, especially one from Chicago. I don't know that's
51:08
Speaker 4: such a good idea.
51:09
Speaker 3: TJ.
51:10
Speaker 13: Meadows, No man, terrible idea. Okay, terrible idea to post that.
51:14
Speaker 13: He had an opportunity yesterday to apologize, and this is
51:17
Speaker 13: add's injury to insult.
51:18
Speaker 3: He didn't do that. He said, yes, he posted it.
51:20
Speaker 3: He didn't apologize for it.
51:22
Speaker 4: So to all the people that said he didn't post that,
51:24
Speaker 4: he absolutely did. He said it, said himself, he said it.
51:27
Speaker 3: He didn't make it. I also don't buy that that's
51:29
Speaker 3: a doctor. Look.
51:30
Speaker 13: Doctors wear white coats, they wear scrubs, they have stethoscopes
51:33
Speaker 13: around their neck. They use modern medicine and modern technology
51:36
Speaker 13: to heal people. They don't lay hands on people as
51:39
Speaker 13: that picture depicted. They don't have balls of light coming
51:43
Speaker 13: from their hand. You don't interpret that as being a doctor.
51:46
Speaker 13: And if you do you're either not reasonable or to
51:48
Speaker 13: your point, you have some other kind of issue. So, yes,
51:51
Speaker 13: yesterday was unfortunate. I do believe it is mocking God
51:55
Speaker 13: as a believer, and you don't do that. I mean,
51:57
Speaker 13: if the scriptures are very clear, you do not do that.
52:00
Speaker 13: Trump had a chance to apologize, and to me, that's
52:03
Speaker 13: even more disappointing.
52:04
Speaker 3: He didn't do it.
52:05
Speaker 13: So I think he lost a lot of support among
52:08
Speaker 13: a lot of West Virginians yesterday who have backed him.
52:11
Speaker 3: I do.
52:11
Speaker 13: I'm telling you go go look at my comment in
52:13
Speaker 13: my post on Facebook.
52:14
Speaker 3: Okay, look how much you lost? All Right, He's lost
52:16
Speaker 3: a lot.
52:16
Speaker 4: But I will say, goes scrolling as I did last night,
52:19
Speaker 4: and those are that are for Trump are still for him.
52:21
Speaker 13: And I saw very good for him, very few and
52:23
Speaker 13: they And that's fine. It's a personal decision, but I'm
52:26
Speaker 13: not down with it.
52:27
Speaker 4: All right, coming up on the show to Mark and
52:28
