  So, let's huddle up and hear today's

  play from Deuteronomy 5 that says, "The
• 0:17
  Lord spoke to you face to face out of
• 0:20
  the fire on the mountain. These are the
• 0:22
  commandments the Lord proclaimed in a
• 0:24
  loud voice to your whole assembly there
• 0:26
  on the mountain from out of the fire. a
• 0:29
  cloud in the deep darkness and he added
• 0:31
  nothing more. Then he wrote them on two
• 0:34
  tone stone tablets and gave them to me.

  And then you replied, for what mortal

  has ever heard the voice of the living

  God speaking out of fire as we have and

  survived? Then God replied, oh that

  will pro possess. A great way to

  commemorate Cinco deio is to read and

  meditate upon the fifth book and fifth

  chapter of the Bible. Deuteronomy 5 is a

  retelling of the giving of the ten

  commandments. These commands God spoke

  by his own voice in the hearing of all

  his people. Only ten commands God gave,

  nine more than the one he gave in
• 1:34
  paradise before the rebellion against
• 1:37
  him by man led by Satan. These ten
• 1:40
  commandments remain nearly universal
• 1:42
  among humanity as the standard
• 1:45
  definition of right and wrong. They're
• 1:47
  seared upon our conscience from birth. a

  divine homing device to bring us back to
• 1:52
  God, the author of righteousness and the
• 1:54
  judge of our souls for eternity. All of

  these commands are so simple and so

  logical for our well-being. We continue

  to ignore them and disobey them to our
• 2:05
  demise. Our leaders have too long mocked
• 2:07
  God and his ways. Instead, they promote
• 2:10
  pleasure and their own wisdom above God,
• 2:13
  to the poverty of our nation. Our
• 2:15
  cities, our schools, and our government
• 2:17
  are filled with corruption and lies that
• 2:20
  cause us poverty, shame, and death.

  Obedience to God's ten commandments will
• 2:25
  not earn us heaven, but they will make
• 2:27
  us a better people, which is why they
• 2:29
  used to be taught in our schools and
• 2:31
  valued by our society so that we could
• 2:34
  live together in greater harmony and
• 2:36
  health morally and relationally. God now
• 2:39
  equips his people. All those who have
• 2:41
  humbled themselves before him,
• 2:42
  confessing their remorse at rebelling
• 2:44
  against God and now seeking him to lord
• 2:47
  over their lives through Jesus the
• 2:49
  savior. These he has given his holy
• 2:52
  spirit, his very presence for helping us
• 2:54
  to obey. Not only the letter of these
• 2:57
  commands, but the spirit behind them.

  The mission of the Christian is the
• 3:01
  great commission which teaches obedience
• 3:03
  to all Jesus's commands. The Ten
• 3:06
  Commandments in spirit and letter are a
• 3:08
  great place for Christians to begin
• 3:10
  obeying Jesus in their homes and in the
• 3:12
  marketplace. And they are a great way to
• 3:15
  commemorate Cinco de Mayo.
