- 0:35Speaker 1: of that. So we get to chop it up with
- 0:37Speaker 1: the homie Demrick as we're doing to staying on the
- 0:38Speaker 1: independence scene for a very long time and in a
- 0:40Speaker 1: group with Exhibit and be Real called serial Killers. It's
- 0:43Speaker 1: been you know, him and Dizzy right put out an
- 0:46Speaker 1: album together early last year. And second time Demrick's been
- 0:50Speaker 1: on the podcast. First time he came on with Dizzy.
- 0:53Speaker 1: This is the first time he's coming on kind of
- 0:55Speaker 1: solo because Tony Chalk doesn't talk much. So there's that.

- 1:10Speaker 1: podcast episode number ninety nine, Wait one hundred is with
- 1:16Speaker 1: Whack one hundred, which will be coming out Monday Friday.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I don't know when is it? When is it coming out?
- 1:22Speaker 1: Cook Monday? But ninety nine is here with Demrick Let's
- 1:29Speaker 1: go and Tony Chalk. Sure for people who don't know
- 1:35Speaker 1: who Demrick is, Demrick is an incredible MC. And for
- 1:39Speaker 1: people who don't know who Tony Chalk is, Tony Chalk
- 1:41Speaker 1: is just an alright beat maker. Damn and you signed him.
- 1:46Speaker 1: You're gonna put that out there about your boy? Man,
- 1:48Speaker 1: This is you know, I mean, this is yours manager.
- 1:51Speaker 1: This is horrible management. This horrible management. Horrible manager. No,
- 1:54Speaker 1: Tony Chalk is an alien. He's an incredible producer and
- 1:58Speaker 1: uh my favorite Vietnamese person in the world. God bless you, Tony.
- 2:03Speaker 1: This guy put me onto the best food I've ever had,
- 2:05Speaker 1: like I've never I never even fucked with fub before
- 2:07Speaker 1: this guy and he put me on man. Oh yeah yeah.
- 2:09Speaker 1: He invited me over to a Korean barbecue at his house.
- 2:13Speaker 1: M we did get fucked up, man, But listen. So Demrick,
- 2:17Speaker 1: you're here. You guys are putting an album out next week,
- 2:19Speaker 1: September fifteenth, Lessons on the Way. Yeah, how was it working? Like,
- 2:25Speaker 1: obviously you've done this before with Happa a few times, right,
- 2:28Speaker 1: So what was it like doing a whole project with
- 2:31Speaker 1: a producer that wasn't DJ Hoppa. I thought it was dub.
- 2:34Speaker 1: You know, Tony Chak has a bunch of different like
- 2:37Speaker 1: styles of making beats, you know, but he has like
- 2:40Speaker 1: a signature sound that kind of like flows through all
- 2:42Speaker 1: that production. So the whole thing was like, you know,
- 2:45Speaker 1: kind of flipping on my style, you know, how I
- 2:46Speaker 1: want to go shit. I could really spit on and
- 2:49Speaker 1: just kind of like, you know, I like to get
- 2:51Speaker 1: melodic on some courses, but really I like to go
- 2:53Speaker 1: heavy with the barwork, right, And so he was like, Okay,
- 2:56Speaker 1: we're gonna do it, and then you know, he put
- 2:58Speaker 1: his twist. So some of it's like trap, but like
- 3:01Speaker 1: with hip hop drum, like you know, he kind of
- 3:03Speaker 1: like would just come to the table with with song
- 3:06Speaker 1: samples that I never heard before, in tempos that were
- 3:10Speaker 1: always he likes a lot of up tempo type shit
- 3:12Speaker 1: in my opinion, and that was kind of different for
- 3:15Speaker 1: me because I do you know, smoke and chill music.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Sometimes it get retrospective. And so the fact that he
- 3:21Speaker 1: was keeping the tempos up and shit like that, I
- 3:24Speaker 1: I just took it as a challenge to do something different,
- 3:26Speaker 1: because I'm gonna tell you this, bro, it wasn't It's
- 3:28Speaker 1: not just with DJ Hoppa along the way, Like you know,
- 3:31Speaker 1: I was dropping full projects with Scoop Deville. I was
- 3:34Speaker 1: dropping full projects even this year alone. Are you a
- 3:37Speaker 1: part of the Get Busy Committee? I wasn't a part
- 3:39Speaker 1: of the Get Busy Committee, but I did a lot
- 3:41Speaker 1: of record that was Ryu School Andopathy yeah and apathy,
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah No. I think you know, it's
- 3:48Speaker 1: a missing in hip hop today, the idea of a
- 3:52Speaker 1: full collaborative project with a producer shout out b real.
- 3:55Speaker 1: That's what he always told me about Cypracil, you know,
- 3:58Speaker 1: he said, that's what gave them the sound was work
- 4:00Speaker 1: with DJ Muggs, and so they was always about like
- 4:03Speaker 1: finding a producer who you could get in in the
- 4:05Speaker 1: trenches with. You know, even originally from my group Tangle Thoughts,
- 4:08Speaker 1: I was rapping Tech would do all the beats when
- 4:10Speaker 1: I originally started rapping. So the way I looked at
- 4:14Speaker 1: it is locking in with somebody and actually having a
- 4:18Speaker 1: meeting of the minds about the music is how you
- 4:20Speaker 1: come up with the best shit instead of just and
- 4:22Speaker 1: it's cohesive exactly, instead of just pulling beats from different
- 4:25Speaker 1: people this and that day. And you know, Tony Chok
- 4:28Speaker 1: might call me like, oh shit, we need this kind
- 4:30Speaker 1: of song, now, we need this, or hey, I was
- 4:33Speaker 1: doing I flipped this beat this way. Hey, take a
- 4:35Speaker 1: listen to this now, see what you think. And you know,
- 4:37Speaker 1: actually being in the trenches making a piece of art
- 4:40Speaker 1: you're gonna present for it's like good to know that
- 4:43Speaker 1: the people that's doing the music give a fuck just
- 4:46Speaker 1: as much as you do about the content of the songs.
- 4:48Speaker 1: How many songs did you guys cut all together? Because
- 4:50Speaker 1: I know there was a bunch of didn't make it right. Yeah,
- 4:52Speaker 1: we probably cut. So there's there's ten on the hours,
- 4:55Speaker 1: so I would say we'd cut maybe like seventeen eighteen records.
- 4:58Speaker 1: You know, I'm to the point now with making music
- 5:01Speaker 1: where like a lot of times I won't even finish
- 5:03Speaker 1: your record if I don't feel like, if that energy
- 5:07Speaker 1: doesn't stick with me, you know, I'll start something, do
- 5:09Speaker 1: a verse in the chorus, and I might think about
- 5:11Speaker 1: it the next day bumping it. You know, some people
- 5:13Speaker 1: that I fuck wud let them hear the music and
- 5:15Speaker 1: just kind of sit with it for a second and say,
- 5:18Speaker 1: maybe that one's not the one. You know what would
- 5:20Speaker 1: be because Denmrik, you've done a great job of having
- 5:24Speaker 1: a great, independent, successful career as a rapper, right. I
- 5:28Speaker 1: think at the end of the day, most artists who
- 5:30Speaker 1: are aspiring to do this shit, all they really want
- 5:33Speaker 1: to do is be able to have a good living
- 5:34Speaker 1: for themselves while while doing what they love. Right. So
- 5:37Speaker 1: you've done a great job of always having music out always,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you know, being able to you know, do your thing
- 5:44Speaker 1: while just doing what you love, right. So what what
- 5:47Speaker 1: would be some advice you would give some up and
- 5:48Speaker 1: coming artists as far as like going to independent around
- 5:51Speaker 1: and the things that you've kind of applied to your
- 5:54Speaker 1: career that have made it sustainable for you to pay
- 5:56Speaker 1: your bills off this rap shit. Yeah, well, I would
- 5:58Speaker 1: say first, first, like just the typical way that you
- 6:03Speaker 1: you know, because I kind of got on through the
- 6:05Speaker 1: hype man. Then songwriting and then kind of doing that
- 6:08Speaker 1: and then Just as soon as I was able to
- 6:10Speaker 1: just start dropping music and seeing that I could build
- 6:13Speaker 1: fans through releasing music, I was like, that's all I
- 6:16Speaker 1: need to do, because I'm not running out of ideas
- 6:18Speaker 1: for versus songs. I'm living every day. I'm gaining more
- 6:22Speaker 1: perspective as I've grown. And if you've seen anything I've
- 6:25Speaker 1: people who been listening to me for a while might
- 6:27Speaker 1: be like, damn, I kind of seen this nigga grow
- 6:29Speaker 1: up through the music, right because I've been dropping music
- 6:32Speaker 1: for so long. So getting consistent is a big part
- 6:34Speaker 1: of it. And like, don't wait necessarily for the perfect
- 6:37Speaker 1: time to release music, or you know, if you believe
- 6:41Speaker 1: in the song, release it and don't get too caught
- 6:44Speaker 1: up in the one record or the one thing. You know,
- 6:47Speaker 1: this is it. You know, it's not necessarily that way
- 6:50Speaker 1: for every artist, and along the way, one thing's for sure.
- 6:54Speaker 1: As long as you are being solid and true within
- 6:56Speaker 1: your music, people are gonna gravitate to it. And as
- 6:59Speaker 1: you build fans and base, you know, and people that
- 7:01Speaker 1: fuck with you, you you know, you build power through that.
- 7:04Speaker 1: And so I just think about focusing on your fans,
- 7:06Speaker 1: staying consistent. Don't really get caught up, and you know,
- 7:09Speaker 1: there's a lot of money goes into this game, so
- 7:12Speaker 1: you want to have a big record or things like that.
- 7:14Speaker 1: You know that ship inside, Yeah exactly, it can happen
- 7:18Speaker 1: on some lottery ship like but with the lottery too,
- 7:22Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But if you want to
- 7:24Speaker 1: just drop some some dope ship and build with people,
- 7:27Speaker 1: you know, you gotta get in. You gotta get smart
- 7:29Speaker 1: about how you're gonna do your releases, stay consistent, and
- 7:32Speaker 1: don't get you know, block out the noise man, was
- 7:34Speaker 1: that like the goal for you was just having a
- 7:37Speaker 1: core fan base and then consistently dropping music to feed
- 7:41Speaker 1: them and then watching it kind of just grow. I
- 7:43Speaker 1: think initially I had I was like, shit, I'm finna
- 7:46Speaker 1: get it, you know. When I moved out to LA
- 7:49Speaker 1: It's like, shit, I'm gonna get signing six months, I'm
- 7:52Speaker 1: finna pop album blow up. You know. But as I
- 7:55Speaker 1: started to get in the game further, I would actually
- 7:58Speaker 1: see motherfuckers with one hits, one hit wonder from five
- 8:02Speaker 1: years ago, one hit wonder from X amount of years ago,
- 8:05Speaker 1: not looking like they doing so good. And I started
- 8:08Speaker 1: to see some actual shit that made me be like
- 8:11Speaker 1: you know, I really only thought about rapping and hustling
- 8:14Speaker 1: as my job and what I was gonna do with
- 8:16Speaker 1: my life. So once I started seeing people fall off
- 8:19Speaker 1: that look so big to me, you know, they pulled
- 8:21Speaker 1: the curtain back, and I see the way it looked
- 8:24Speaker 1: behind the curtain wasn't necessarily the way that I thought
- 8:26Speaker 1: it but thought it was gonna be. But what I
- 8:28Speaker 1: did see is real people who build real fan bases
- 8:32Speaker 1: didn't really get caught up in the industry focused on
- 8:35Speaker 1: releasing dope shit and them building long lasting careers off
- 8:39Speaker 1: of their creativity. So I started to think, like, yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 1: I want the big hit, And the whole thing about
- 8:44Speaker 1: the big hit is that shit is still happening out
- 8:47Speaker 1: the fucking blood right, you know what I mean. There's
- 8:49Speaker 1: still the chance. But if you spend all your time
- 8:51Speaker 1: chasing that and you ain't building yourself fountain, you're going
- 8:55Speaker 1: to be sad at the end because life is hard.
- 8:57Speaker 1: It's one thing I learned for Show. Life's hard the
- 8:59Speaker 1: whole way. So you know what I'm saying, If you
- 9:02Speaker 1: want to stay on top of this shit, you gotta
- 9:03Speaker 1: find what works for you and go fucking hard for
- 9:06Speaker 1: what you want. You have some big homies in the game.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You mentioned be Real obviously exhibits somebody you know obviously
- 9:12Speaker 1: you guys shout out to the Serial Killers projects that
- 9:15Speaker 1: are crazy. What was like something you took from each
- 9:19Speaker 1: of them as far as helping them on stage? You know,
- 9:22Speaker 1: because I think the first time I ever met you
- 9:23Speaker 1: was in Idaho, you were it was a Busy Bone
- 9:26Speaker 1: Be Real tour that was actually the very first tour
- 9:29Speaker 1: that I ever went on would be Real. Yeah, uh,
- 9:31Speaker 1: And Busy Bone didn't show up until like midnight and
- 9:34Speaker 1: then didn't perform because Busy Bone. I had to pick
- 9:37Speaker 1: Busy Bone up that night in Boise from the airport
- 9:40Speaker 1: in my ninety two Hondo accord. And when I tell
- 9:43Speaker 1: you that man was on another planet. He was galactic.
- 9:46Speaker 1: He was shot out Busy Bone. He was. I was like,
- 9:49Speaker 1: I couldn't even I didn't know what the fuck was
- 9:50Speaker 1: going on. Yeah, crazy, I thought I was. I thought
- 9:53Speaker 1: that guy was possessed in My friend said like, this
- 9:56Speaker 1: motherfucker gonna kill me. But no, But like, what are
- 10:00Speaker 1: the things you learned from be Real from X as
- 10:03Speaker 1: far as like early on, because you know, obviously Exhibit's
- 10:05Speaker 1: done a great job of sustaining you know, you know,
- 10:08Speaker 1: for people who think that exhibit fell off or exhibits
- 10:11Speaker 1: a boss, he's a businessman. He's fucking pivoted in so
- 10:14Speaker 1: many different ways in this music industry. Same thing with
- 10:17Speaker 1: be Real. What are the things that you kind of
- 10:19Speaker 1: learned from them that right there? That for sure, the
- 10:23Speaker 1: ability to look at opportunities, look at the landscape, and
- 10:26Speaker 1: get involved in different things, you know, and not be
- 10:29Speaker 1: so one track minded. But they told me to don't
- 10:32Speaker 1: chase sounds, don't try to if you always try to,
- 10:35Speaker 1: you know, be real. It's like the shit come in
- 10:36Speaker 1: full circle every time around. And why would I now
- 10:39Speaker 1: believe him? He been in the game since the beginning
- 10:42Speaker 1: of what you know, since early eighty nine to ninety.
- 10:44Speaker 1: He came in the game and had a hit record,
- 10:46Speaker 1: so he's seen shit come around a couple of times.
- 10:49Speaker 1: So if he's telling me, you know, just stick to
- 10:51Speaker 1: the script of what you fuck with, let the game
- 10:54Speaker 1: come to you. That was one thing I picked up
- 10:57Speaker 1: and obviously performing with them lot how to rock a crowd.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I mean this shit like these these ain't club shows
- 11:04Speaker 1: with two hundred people. So I've been on stage with
- 11:07Speaker 1: cipers from the eighty thousand. You know, I've been on
- 11:10Speaker 1: stage with with Exhibit in front of thirty forty thousand,
- 11:13Speaker 1: you know, big shows and a bunch of nights in
- 11:16Speaker 1: the row too, you know, in two years. And so
- 11:19Speaker 1: that's kind of the way that I seen was big shows,
- 11:22Speaker 1: big productions, real performance, being able to rap, perform your lyrics,
- 11:27Speaker 1: control the crowd, hold it the fuck down. When you're
- 11:29Speaker 1: on stage, you are actually entertaining people. You got one
- 11:32Speaker 1: hour if you just fucking dancing to your own songs
- 11:35Speaker 1: the whole fucking time. You know, that shit gonna get
- 11:38Speaker 1: old quick when I say when that when that hit
- 11:41Speaker 1: start dying down and the show stopped and they stopped,
- 11:44Speaker 1: the booking stopped coming, because you didn't really pay attention
- 11:47Speaker 1: to the performance aspect of the game and everything. So
- 11:50Speaker 1: I learned so much shit from from them that it's
- 11:54Speaker 1: kind of hard. I was actually watching something and they
- 11:57Speaker 1: were talking about mentors, and I really am, like, am
- 12:00Speaker 1: you know, I really have some dope ass mentors in
- 12:02Speaker 1: my life, you know, be real and Exhibit and that
- 12:05Speaker 1: I started out from one to rap for those dudes,
- 12:08Speaker 1: to hype in it, for them to do out the
- 12:10Speaker 1: songs with them, to doing albums with them and a
- 12:13Speaker 1: long standing relationship that still goes to this day. So
- 12:16Speaker 1: that means what does that mean? It means you didn't
- 12:18Speaker 1: fuck it up, you didn't drop the ball, you didn't
- 12:20Speaker 1: get too big head, and you stayed solid. And that's
- 12:23Speaker 1: one of the things. It's hard to get a big
- 12:26Speaker 1: head when you see people that have done it so
- 12:29Speaker 1: big for so long and see that they still grinding
- 12:32Speaker 1: every day, they still going forward every day. But I
- 12:34Speaker 1: see what it means to the people and what it
- 12:36Speaker 1: means to them and how they present it. So stay solid, man,
- 12:40Speaker 1: And I'm lucky that I have mentors like that. Yeah,
- 12:43Speaker 1: I think when you talk about the performance, I think
- 12:44Speaker 1: that one of the things that kind of showed through
- 12:47Speaker 1: is that versus battle with the Locks and you set.
- 12:50Speaker 1: It's like them dudes was not wrapping over their lyrics.
- 12:53Speaker 1: They wasn't read rock and there was rocking the crowd
- 12:56Speaker 1: and Dipset didn't take it serious at least anything. I'm
- 13:00Speaker 1: not saying they didn't take it all the way serious,
- 13:01Speaker 1: but obviously there's a difference between you know, did I
- 13:05Speaker 1: feel like Dipset's peak happened after the Locks really started
- 13:08Speaker 1: to come into the game. Even though CAM was around
- 13:11Speaker 1: during the same time the Locks came in, but like
- 13:13Speaker 1: the dipset wave really hit, Like I always think of
- 13:17Speaker 1: like two thousand and one, two thousand and two, and
- 13:19Speaker 1: you think of the Locks. The Locks was late nineties,
- 13:22Speaker 1: you know, ninety seven, ninety eight, and just kind of
- 13:24Speaker 1: like the different eras of like performing like yeah, not
- 13:27Speaker 1: over your own lyrics, yeah shows. And that's what I
- 13:31Speaker 1: say when I said they weren't prepared. I wasn't saying
- 13:34Speaker 1: it in the in the scheme of the whole shit,
- 13:36Speaker 1: but as far as like rapping, yeah, like to be
- 13:38Speaker 1: able to just throw on a beat like who shot
- 13:41Speaker 1: you and then Jada know his who shot your freestyle
- 13:44Speaker 1: from it, and then just and rip it for two
- 13:47Speaker 1: minutes straight exactly antalk shit, be funny, be charismatic, hold
- 13:52Speaker 1: it down and actually delivering full versus all the way through,
- 13:56Speaker 1: you know. And that's that shit is that it takes time.
- 14:00Speaker 1: You gotta hone your craft on that level to be
- 14:03Speaker 1: able to do that. You know, it's you started, however
- 14:06Speaker 1: you started. I feel like nowadays motherfuckers don't even they
- 14:10Speaker 1: just start like basically in the room with the hommies,
- 14:12Speaker 1: you know, just making songs on the computer. You know,
- 14:15Speaker 1: I think when I started it was more like, you know,
- 14:18Speaker 1: you was rapping in a cipher or some shit like that.
- 14:20Speaker 1: You know, But it's it remains the same. It starts
- 14:23Speaker 1: from a very minimal place, and as it builds up,
- 14:26Speaker 1: you gotta look at all of what hip hop is
- 14:28Speaker 1: about and everything and figure out what you want to
- 14:31Speaker 1: participate in and what you want to focus in. But
- 14:33Speaker 1: if you want to do the whole shit performing as
- 14:35Speaker 1: a part of it, you know what I mean, and
- 14:37Speaker 1: rapping exactly rapping, that's it. Hey, what up? Man? We
- 14:40Speaker 1: got to interrupt the interview real quick to tell you

- 15:58Speaker 1: What was the difference between working with Caski and Demrick
- 16:00Speaker 1: on a whole project together talking to the microphone, you
- 16:04Speaker 1: fuck you. The difference is Kathy work way too fast
- 16:09Speaker 1: and I try to keep up with him, but I
- 16:15Speaker 1: don't know. It's it's a whole different vinument. I've I've
- 16:17Speaker 1: learned a lot from working with Kathy and and and
- 16:20Speaker 1: working with Demrick Denver kind of slowed me down a
- 16:23Speaker 1: little bit and make me stinks more and you know,
- 16:25Speaker 1: be creative. Right. And then with Kathy he was like, yo,
- 16:28Speaker 1: go and go, let go pum pump and then then
- 16:30Speaker 1: I go back and fix right. So yeah, so with
- 16:34Speaker 1: Demrick is like, you take your time, do it right
- 16:36Speaker 1: to first go around and yeah. Yeah, so so I
- 16:39Speaker 1: learned my page for what certain artists and yeah, what
- 16:43Speaker 1: was your guys is like, Uh, if you had to
- 16:45Speaker 1: pick a record one record off for Blessings on On
- 16:47Speaker 1: by the Way, the title tracks my favorite, but uh,
- 16:50Speaker 1: what's your guys's favorite record on that? Yeah? I like
- 16:54Speaker 1: still that's one of my favorite as well. I would,
- 16:58Speaker 1: but I like the intro I see that Blessings on
- 17:01Speaker 1: the Way. What I feel like that record is like
- 17:03Speaker 1: something that's connecting with a lot of people. A lot
- 17:06Speaker 1: of people are feeling it right now with everything that's
- 17:08Speaker 1: been going on. Yeah, exactly, It's like it's a song
- 17:12Speaker 1: that speaks to a lot of people. You know, it
- 17:14Speaker 1: was written in a in a form that's kind of
- 17:16Speaker 1: like for everybody, you know. What I mean, Blessings on
- 17:19Speaker 1: the Way who out here. You know, we're in the
- 17:21Speaker 1: time of everybody grinding getting to it. Everybody's blessed, everybody's
- 17:24Speaker 1: going hard for their shit. Everybody is seeing, you know,
- 17:28Speaker 1: knocking shit off. They list one step at a time.
- 17:30Speaker 1: So that's what it is. Blessings on the Way embodies that.
- 17:33Speaker 1: So what do you you know with the pandemic? Obviously
- 17:36Speaker 1: I don't even know if we're on the other side
- 17:37Speaker 1: of it yet, but like, I know you depend a
- 17:39Speaker 1: lot on the live shows, right, Like, how did that
- 17:42Speaker 1: kind of make you rethink things or maybe make you
- 17:45Speaker 1: pivot differently? Twenty I think I'm assuming you were gonna
- 17:50Speaker 1: be on tour. I was going to be on tour
- 17:51Speaker 1: And what happened is like, because you know, shout out,
- 17:55Speaker 1: this is because we did we during the pandemic that
- 17:58Speaker 1: you know when you show right, you had to cancel
- 18:00Speaker 1: on the ring. Yeah, we canceled one because that whole thing.
- 18:03Speaker 1: They wanted us to make an announcement for people to
- 18:05Speaker 1: get vaccinated or show up with the with the negative tests,
- 18:09Speaker 1: and now I feel like that's kind of the norm,
- 18:12Speaker 1: But when they wanted us to say it, it was
- 18:14Speaker 1: kind of like I don't know if we want to, like,
- 18:16Speaker 1: you know, really put that out there like that. So yeah,
- 18:18Speaker 1: we canceled one show, but the other show was good.
- 18:20Speaker 1: But what I'm saying is basically, during when COVID hit,
- 18:24Speaker 1: it gave me a chance to sit at home and say, hey,
- 18:26Speaker 1: number one, I'm gonna make more music. I'm gonna drop
- 18:29Speaker 1: more shit. I'm gonna double down with putting things out
- 18:31Speaker 1: online and things like that and really get projects like
- 18:35Speaker 1: the one with Tony Chak Dune like me and exhibiting
- 18:38Speaker 1: b Real did another Serial Killers album. Me and Dizzy
- 18:40Speaker 1: did a blaze with us too during that. Yeah that's
- 18:43Speaker 1: real me. I dropped a lot of I dropped a
- 18:45Speaker 1: lot of I dropped me and Mike and Key dropped
- 18:51Speaker 1: Championship Rounds and uh so just a lot of music
- 18:54Speaker 1: that I put out. And I gotta shout out Reazy
- 18:56Speaker 1: because we dropped the album called Payday. So I dropped
- 18:59Speaker 1: so much music the last couple of years of this ship.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Because now we're looking at the pandemic. Shit almost been
- 19:05Speaker 1: around a year and a half year years of March,
- 19:08Speaker 1: right two years of March, and it's crazy. Uh I was,
- 19:12Speaker 1: And how I know that is because I was on stage,
- 19:15Speaker 1: me and Berner and Larry June. We did four shows
- 19:19Speaker 1: right before the COVID. It was they were on Cali right,
- 19:22Speaker 1: yeah exactly, and me and Berner, we was on stage.
- 19:25Speaker 1: You know, I go up on stage and ju Xanax
- 19:27Speaker 1: patrol with over. We was we was doing the fucking
- 19:30Speaker 1: the shoulder ship, you know, instead of doing it, you know,
- 19:33Speaker 1: because it was kind of like we didn't really know
- 19:35Speaker 1: what was going to happen. So uh, of course everything
- 19:38Speaker 1: locked down, and I said, shit, let me double down
- 19:40Speaker 1: on these businesses. You know, let me let me figure
- 19:43Speaker 1: out you know, Stony Point, the cannabis brand, you know,
- 19:45Speaker 1: let me figure out uh, the gas Co mac tonight,
- 19:49Speaker 1: you know, let me figure out this merch situation. Let
- 19:51Speaker 1: me figure out we just dropped the beer Stony Juice
- 19:55Speaker 1: that we dropped me and Happa with a company called
- 20:00Speaker 1: four h five North Brewing, and you know, you just
- 20:03Speaker 1: double god Beard Kings you know on the side in
- 20:06Speaker 1: the catalog. Yeah exactly. And but it's it's about kind
- 20:10Speaker 1: of like cultivating these other little business ideas and seeing
- 20:13Speaker 1: where they could grow to. You know. Obviously being in
- 20:15Speaker 1: the cannabis market is something that I feel like a
- 20:18Speaker 1: lot of people want to do but right now, but
- 20:21Speaker 1: a lot of people can't really get in on a
- 20:22Speaker 1: real level, And so I had the opportunity to really
- 20:25Speaker 1: be involved with it. So the thing is, it's like
- 20:28Speaker 1: how hard do I want to go for it? You know?
- 20:29Speaker 1: How big do I want to push it? Today? Yeah?
- 20:32Speaker 1: I think that's the thing. A lot of rappers will
- 20:33Speaker 1: get into the weed game and they think that like
- 20:35Speaker 1: you just get a strain and that's where it stops,
- 20:38Speaker 1: Like the weeds going to sell itself. It's like, bro,
- 20:40Speaker 1: you really got to work as hard if you really
- 20:43Speaker 1: want to pop off in the weed game because it's
- 20:44Speaker 1: so competition is almost as crazy. I mean, it's not
- 20:47Speaker 1: as crazy as the rag game, but it's up there. Yeah.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I mean there's so much weed, especially in Cali, it's
- 20:52Speaker 1: so much. How do you how are you gonna separate
- 20:55Speaker 1: yourself from the pack, not even just quality wise, just
- 20:58Speaker 1: braining wise, just like you know. I think that's another thing,
- 21:00Speaker 1: like with the weed game, It's like there's artists who
- 21:03Speaker 1: might might not be as like I guarantee you there's
- 21:05Speaker 1: bigger artists that have weed trains that aren't even touching
- 21:07Speaker 1: how successful your weedstrain is, you know, and that's what
- 21:10Speaker 1: they should they'd be giving weed strains and ship that
- 21:12Speaker 1: some people don't even smoke weed, you know what I'm
- 21:14Speaker 1: saying and doing for the name literally jay Z. Yeah,
- 21:19Speaker 1: shout out to who Hope is just historically not a
- 21:22Speaker 1: pot guy. Yeah, I don't, you know, you know, shout
- 21:25Speaker 1: out to my guy g Easy, he just launched flower shop.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Never was a big weed guy. I mean he's been
- 21:29Speaker 1: smoking more recently, but he was somebody who wasn't like
- 21:32Speaker 1: a big weed guy, you know exactly, but you look
- 21:34Speaker 1: like someone like Dizzy, who's obviously yo, dizzey. Shit gotta
- 21:38Speaker 1: go because people are gonna be like if it's Dizzy, right,
- 21:40Speaker 1: ship I'm a smoker because I know he's a smoker exactly.
- 21:43Speaker 1: And it's like understanding that we actually met with the breeders,
- 21:47Speaker 1: built with them. Example, Yeah, right, Burner's got the biggest
- 21:51Speaker 1: weed shit. And like if you think of Burners like
- 21:53Speaker 1: a rapper, like there might be bigger rappers in the space,
- 21:56Speaker 1: but Burners all in exactly from the jump, you know
- 22:00Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So yeah, and I think it's it's
- 22:02Speaker 1: dope to see the stony points shit going crazy. So
- 22:04Speaker 1: that's it. Besides Blessings on the Way, we got to
- 22:08Speaker 1: like four or five more months left in the year.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Anything else you're gonna be dropping right after this, right
- 22:14Speaker 1: after Blessings on the Way, which drops September fifteenth, you
- 22:16Speaker 1: got to check this album outs Fire. What is that
- 22:19Speaker 1: on Thursday? Wednesday? It's a Wednesday. I think it's Wednesday
- 22:23Speaker 1: because Friday is the seventeenth, right, Yeah, and then Stony
- 22:28Speaker 1: point three with me and Hoppa is about to drop,
- 22:31Speaker 1: so we got that next. It's completely recorded and ready.
- 22:35Speaker 1: And then me and Jared Benton going in the year
- 22:37Speaker 1: with an EP together, so that'd be fire. That's it,
- 22:41Speaker 1: bars Man, having fun with it, you know, just talking
- 22:43Speaker 1: our shit. You know, I think at this point that
- 22:47Speaker 1: I like what I see with a lot of rappers
- 22:49Speaker 1: that are out there right now getting to love. I
- 22:51Speaker 1: really love what Bennie the Butcher and Zelda's doing. I
- 22:55Speaker 1: love what you know. I like to see Freddie Gibbs,
- 22:58Speaker 1: you know, somebody that I can sit to be around
- 23:01Speaker 1: the whole time I've been around grinding and see where
- 23:04Speaker 1: he's sitting right now, and just seeing rappers really sticking
- 23:08Speaker 1: to their guns and getting what they deserve like you
- 23:11Speaker 1: said almost like would be real, told you like, let
- 23:13Speaker 1: the game come to you exactly, bro, So that's what
- 23:15Speaker 1: those guys did. Yeah, So as far as the lyrical
- 23:18Speaker 1: shiit and just talking our ship like that, shit ain't
- 23:20Speaker 1: going away. As long as I keep experiencing it, I
- 23:23Speaker 1: must keep on bringing it to the table. Hey, Tony,
- 23:25Speaker 1: what advice would you give upcoming up and coming producers?
- 23:29Speaker 1: Don't give up, doesn't matter what type of beat you make.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Don't give up. Don't give up, don't give up. Why
- 23:36Speaker 1: do you say that? Have you been Have you been
- 23:37Speaker 1: around for a while? I mean this must of the
- 23:39Speaker 1: time I want to give up. But how long you've
- 23:42Speaker 1: been making beats? Tony? How old are you? Damn? You
- 23:46Speaker 1: fucking old as fuck? Bro, Bro, I'm just fucking with you, Tony.
- 23:50Speaker 1: You're like two years behind me, I know, but I'm
- 23:52Speaker 1: just saying, bro, y'all Asian motherfucker's age? So well? How
- 23:56Speaker 1: old do I look? You look like you're about twenty seven?
- 23:59Speaker 1: So yeah, hey man, it blacked on cracking. Asian people
- 24:04Speaker 1: don't age, I said, facts, shout out to all the ages,
- 24:08Speaker 1: so listen, So don't give up. But this is what
- 24:10Speaker 1: I want to say about Tony Chak and his production
- 24:13Speaker 1: is I feel like he was the person that when
- 24:15Speaker 1: I was going out to Arizona, they would always say, Hey,
- 24:19Speaker 1: you gotta get with this producer named Tony Chok, Like
- 24:21Speaker 1: he really got that shit, and he came to the
- 24:24Speaker 1: studio a couple of times. And I don't think you
- 24:26Speaker 1: ever had an opportunity to really press play. Yeah you know, yeah,
- 24:33Speaker 1: but the way that it actually worked out is you
- 24:35Speaker 1: grind it. You ended up signing with with Bootleg Cad
- 24:39Speaker 1: convinced Hiss, asked to move out here, to move to
- 24:41Speaker 1: LA And it's like, by the time I see you
- 24:43Speaker 1: in the studio right here, I realized that the hunger
- 24:46Speaker 1: would it wouldn't be denied. You know. It's just like
- 24:48Speaker 1: you every day making beasts. I follow you on social media.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I see you consistently working. I'm like, shit, when you
- 24:55Speaker 1: that hungry and you got that much talent, it's timing
- 24:59Speaker 1: and it's actually getting in the mix of putting the
- 25:01Speaker 1: work in. And it's one of the hardest working producers
- 25:03Speaker 1: that I that I met, you know, and he'd be
- 25:06Speaker 1: running from one session to the to the I'm coming
- 25:08Speaker 1: and you know, I work hard, so I'm like this,
- 25:11Speaker 1: this dude going crazy, and the fact that because it
- 25:15Speaker 1: was really you who was like, yo, y'all got to
- 25:17Speaker 1: make this ep hap you know? So I have a
- 25:20Speaker 1: feeling like for people out there that haven't heard of
- 25:23Speaker 1: his production, like, it's a lot of big records, a
- 25:26Speaker 1: lot of music, a lot of foundation and groundwork being laid,
- 25:29Speaker 1: and it's only a matter of time before everybody gonna
- 25:32Speaker 1: on a project with him. Shock is gonna be on
- 25:34Speaker 1: everybody ship. That's it. Period, there it is, man, hope
- 25:38Speaker 1: it's coming to this. He got everyone who doesn't know
- 25:41Speaker 1: I bust this guy's balls always, not just for the
- 25:44Speaker 1: cameras are rooming. You gotta keep them humble, man, gotta
- 25:48Speaker 1: keep them humble. Yo, what the fuck at man? The fu?
- 25:51Speaker 1: I didn't know how racist that would be, if I'm
- 25:52Speaker 1: being honest. I was going to try to. I was
- 25:55Speaker 1: gonna try I was going to try to get Fuz
- 25:57Speaker 1: brought in for the interview, but I figured that might
- 25:59Speaker 1: be a little knocking on racism. Door. I asked him yesterday.
- 26:03Speaker 1: He was like, He's like, no, we're good. I love fun,
- 26:06Speaker 1: But you know, I just don't know, man, don't I
- 26:08Speaker 1: don't want to get canceled online? Who like CAF brings
- 26:11Speaker 1: fun the Vietnamese producer's interview and he's canceled. Well, listen man.
- 26:18Speaker 1: The album is out September fifteenth, that's next Wednesday. Uh,
- 26:21Speaker 1: this will be out Friday, so five days away. Uh
- 26:25Speaker 1: and uh there's a few there's three or four songs
- 26:28Speaker 1: out right now. Four songs right, yeah, Yeah, there's four
- 26:30Speaker 1: records out. Rich record just dropped what you're doing really well.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I saw yeah took me, Uh, Paul Wall that record's
- 26:38Speaker 1: out the money and it being's dizzy record. Yeah, and
- 26:43Speaker 1: then what was the what was the one with Alexis
- 26:45Speaker 1: and Yeah, Sexton kid Man ride from Mine there it is,
- 26:49Speaker 1: Go go support Demrick Tony Chuck shout out to don't
- 26:54Speaker 1: we have an album release party coming up where Arizona

- 27:05Speaker 1: pull up man, if you're in Arizon. A lot a
- 27:06Speaker 1: lot of people in Arizona watch this. So come come
