- 0:00It was the late. Aw, Tozer who said these words,
- 0:03it is doubtful. Whether God can bless the man
- 0:06greatly until he. First of all, hurts him deeply.
- 0:13You see it to you again, it is doubtful whether or not God, can
- 0:16bless the man greatly until he first of all hurts him deeply.
- 0:24Why is that? Is that true?
- 0:28Well. It is true.
- 0:33Because Jesus is is all you need, but Jesus is never.
- 0:38All you need until Jesus is all you got.
- 0:42See, we got everything else. We have our income, we have our
- 0:46family. We have our job.
- 0:48We have our cars. We have our health, we have our
- 0:52talent, we have her education, who needs Jesus.
- 0:57We got everything else that we need, but the problem is, Jesus
- 1:01is really all you need. Until you realize that, You are
- 1:07far from walking. Intimately, with our Lord.
- 1:14Man, by nature is autonomous. He's independent.
- 1:19He's self-sufficient. He is in control, he is
- 1:25self-reliant, he wants to be in control of his world.
- 1:32And so by Nature. He goes that direction.
- 1:36Only to realize that is not. That God is in charge of
- 1:41everything. He needs the Lord, he needs to
- 1:44depend upon the Lord for everything.
- 1:48So God sets out. To erase your independence from
- 1:54him. To establish your dependence
- 1:58upon him. That's what God does when he
- 2:03takes you through the desert. He wants you totally dependent
- 2:09upon him for everything. After all the Lord said in John
- 2:1315, without me ye can do. Some things all things you can't
- 2:22do anything. Without the Lord.
- 2:26We think we can. We think we can raise our
- 2:31children without the Lord. We think we can have a good
- 2:36marriage without the Lord. We think we can preach a sermon
- 2:41without the Lord. We think we can do everything
- 2:43that we do without the Lord. Because we're talented were
- 2:47eloquent. We are gifted.
- 2:51We are well educated. This is not true.
- 2:57It might be true, your well-educated might be true,
- 2:59you're talented and gifted, but you need the Lord in everything.
- 3:08You see spiritual growth has is like a coin, right?
- 3:14There's two sides to a coin. There's a human side and the
- 3:17Divine side. so when you look at spiritual growth, look at it
- 3:21from The Human Side, and it primarily deals with scripture,
- 3:26right, we're to grow in Grace and in the knowledge of our Lord
- 3:30and Savior, Jesus Christ, second Peter 3, verse number 18, The
- 3:34Bible tells us in second Timothy chapter 3, that that God's word
- 3:37is inspired right? And therefore because it is, it
- 3:42is that one thing that is profitable for man to equip him
- 3:46to do everything he needs to do. so from The Human Side in order
- 3:53for us to grow spiritually, We need the scripture and the
- 3:57spirit of God uses the word of God in our lives.
- 4:01To grow us in our walk with the Lord.
- 4:05But the flip side of the coin is the Divine side.
- 4:09And from God's perspective, it's not the Scripture its suffering,
- 4:16that's the Divine side. And he's in charge of the
- 4:20suffering. You're in charge for lack of a
- 4:24better, phrase of the scripture, and reading and studying and
- 4:28memorizing, and applying that scripture to your life by the
- 4:33Divine side. God uses suffering to perfect
- 4:39the soul. Remember Psalm 119 verse number
- 4:4367 before I was afflicted. I went astray.
- 4:52But now I keep your word. Before I was afflicted, I did
- 5:00whatever I wanted to do. I did life my way.
- 5:05But now, because I've been Afflicted.
- 5:08Now I keep your word. It will be great if we were
- 5:13committed to the scriptures and we were so committed to them
- 5:16that every day we'd read them and memorize them and apply
- 5:19them, but we just don't. So God uses suffering.
- 5:23He uses Affliction, he uses distress, he uses for lack of a
- 5:28better phrase, the desert to drive us to his word.
- 5:33Before I was afflicted, I went astray but now, now I keep your
- 5:37word. What's next verse?
- 5:41You are good and do us. Good.
- 5:46Psalmist, only knew of the goodness of God after his
- 5:48affliction. Because then he was able to
- 5:52understand the word of God and then he was able to stand that
- 5:55God himself. It says, in verse number 71, it
- 6:00is good for me that I was afflicted that I might learn
- 6:04your statutes. It's almost makes it very clear
- 6:08that there's something about Affliction that teaches me the
- 6:11statutes of God. That without the Affliction, I
- 6:13would not learn the lessons. I need to learn God knows what
- 6:20you need the best. So on a date of your toes are
- 6:25says that it is doubtful whether or not God can bless them and
- 6:28greatly until he's first of all hurt him deeply he is so right
- 6:33on. Every man, scripture.
- 6:39Was hurt, significantly. That God might use him greatly.
- 6:47Every man for lack of a better phrase was broken.
- 6:52Their self will was shattered. Their independence from God.
- 7:00Was broken to a point where they learn to be dependent upon God.
- 7:05So God could use them mightily. For his glory.
- 7:09And for his purpose, Years ago, many years ago.
- 7:16I did a series maybe some of the of you remember it.
- 7:20Tom, you might remember this. It was called invitation to
- 7:24intimacy. You're not serious.
- 7:25A long, long time ago, at least 20 years ago, maybe 25 years
- 7:29ago. I don't know, invitation to
- 7:32intimacy. We wanted to invite people to
- 7:36walk in an intimate relationship with the Living God.
- 7:42And so we told them, it begins with the Divine inheritance, you
- 7:48want to walk into intimate with God, it begins with a Divine
- 7:53inheritance. Paul said, it this way, in
- 7:55Ephesians chapter 1 verse number 11, because we've been redeemed,
- 7:58we have obtained, an inheritance having been predestined.
- 8:04According to his purpose, who works all things.
- 8:06After the counsel of his will to the end that we who were the
- 8:10first to Hope in Christ. Would be to the praise of his
- 8:14glory. Paul says, we've been redeemed
- 8:17because we have been predetermined to be partakers of
- 8:22a Divine inheritance. Peter would say this way in
- 8:28First Peter, chapter 1 verse number 3, blessed, be the God
- 8:34and father of our Lord, Jesus Christ who according to his,
- 8:36great Mercy. Has caused us to be born again
- 8:39to a Living Hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
- 8:44from the dead in order to obtain an inheritance which is
- 8:51imperishable and undefiled, and will not fade away.
- 8:54Reserved in heaven for you. To walk in intimacy with God, it
- 9:02begins with a Divine inheritance.
- 9:06But it's also number two, balanced by a disciplined
- 9:11obedience. It's balanced by a disciplined
- 9:16obedience because I had been redeemed.
- 9:21I now have a responsibility to live in obedience to my God.
- 9:27And so there is this desire I have as Paul would say that
- 9:31bodily exercise profits little but godliness is profitable for
- 9:36all things. Therefore discipline, yourself
- 9:39unto godliness. First of the four seven and
- 9:43eight. First Corinthians 9, Paul was
- 9:45his I beat my body into subjection.
- 9:49I discipline myself, lest I be disqualified from the ministry.
- 9:54Paul knew about discipline. So he would reiterate it over
- 9:59and over again in his Epistles about discipline, your life unto
- 10:03godliness. So that which begins with the
- 10:06Divine inheritance, is now balanced with a disciplined
- 10:10obedience. And that which is balanced with
- 10:14a disciplined obedience. Is beautified in a daily
- 10:22silence. It's beautified in a daily
- 10:28silence, be still and know that I am God.
- 10:37Isaiah 30 says this in silence. And in trust, shall be your
- 10:45strength. How many times did the psalmist?
- 10:49Say, I wait silently for the Lord.
- 10:56Silence is such a major part of walking and intimacy with our
- 11:01God, it's like a marriage, right?
- 11:05When is the marriage beautified? It's not beautified amidst, the
- 11:12hubbub of activity with family and friends, and all kinds of
- 11:16social activities. No, it's beautified in the
- 11:19silence, Mom and Dad husband, and wife together in silence
- 11:25cultivating. The relationship, when there are
- 11:27no distractions around you, it's just you and your wife, are you,
- 11:31and your husband? So that which begins with the
- 11:36Divine inheritance is balanced with a discipline.
- 11:39Nope. The ants and as beautified in a
- 11:42daily silence. but, That intimacy is always battled with
- 11:52a diabolical vengeance. Satan does not want you to walk
- 11:59intimately with the Lord. So he is going to attack attack
- 12:04attack all the time. He goes about like a roaring
- 12:09lion seeking whom he may devour, right?
- 12:12And so we need to resist him steadfast in the faith.
- 12:15We need to Shield ourselves with the armor of God, so because
- 12:19he's going to attack us, we must arm ourselves with the armor of
- 12:22God if he's in 6 10 to 18 realizing that Satan does all he
- 12:29can. To keep us from walking.
- 12:32Intimately, with the Living God. The invitation to intimacy.
- 12:39It is a invitation that's extended to man.
- 12:44To walk with our Lord. It begins with the Divine
- 12:48inheritance, it's balanced with a disciplined obedience.
- 12:53It's beautified in a daily silence its battle with a
- 12:57diabolical vengeance. Ah, but it blossoms in a desert
- 13:04experience. That's where blossoms.
- 13:09In a desert experience. Listen to the words of Peter.
- 13:17As he concludes his first epistle.
- 13:21Writing to Jews who had experience the ultimate desert.
- 13:29All kinds of distressed and affliction, all kinds of
- 13:33persecution and hardship Nero had had given all of his efforts
- 13:40to persecute the Christians and they were being killed and
- 13:45destroyed on a daily basis. and so, Peter in his epistle, And we
- 13:54did a series on Peter and we entitled it, hope for those who
- 13:59hurt. Because there was no one hurting
- 14:02more than the Jews that were scattered abroad.
- 14:05Then these Jews were, and they needed hope, and Peter gives
- 14:09them hope. In the end.
- 14:13First 10 for p25 says these words after you have suffered
- 14:19for a while. In other words, your suffering
- 14:22is inevitable. It's going to happen. and after
- 14:26you've suffered for, A little while, the God of all Grace.
- 14:36The personal Ministry of our God is to extend Grace, to all those
- 14:40who suffer. So the God of all Grace is going
- 14:44to do something that will cause your life to Blossom as it's
- 14:50never bloomed before. By saying this. the God of all
- 14:57Grace who called you to his eternal glory in Christ will
- 15:01himself, perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you So
- 15:11after you've suffered for a little while, God is going to
- 15:15perfect you, he's going to supply all that you need.
- 15:18There's something lacking in the word.
- 15:21Perfect is a word used in two different ways of scripture, The
- 15:24Mending of Nets, right? Or the many together of broken
- 15:29bones, putting them back together again, putting Nets
- 15:33back together again after you suffered for a little while.
- 15:38God is going to put you back together.
- 15:41Again he's going to let you go through difficulties in the
- 15:44hardships and and and tie the Nets together.
- 15:49Mend the broken bones, put them back together so that you can be
- 15:54one. and then, he's going to Confirm, you other words.
- 16:03It's a phrase that's used in ancient literature to speak of
- 16:07making one solid as Granite immovable.
- 16:13You'll emerge tougher than you've ever been before stronger
- 16:18than you've ever been before after you've suffered for a
- 16:21while. He'll perfect.
- 16:24You he will confirm you. He will strengthen you.
- 16:30He will fill you with his strength.
- 16:33God wants to fill you with his strength but we're so busy
- 16:37trying to exude Our Own Strength that we had no time to rely upon
- 16:41God to fill us with his strength.
- 16:44We want to show everybody how strong we are.
- 16:46Instead of God infusion us with his strength. but after you've
- 16:53been broken, After you've been desolate.
- 16:57After you're on your own, with no one to hold on to accept the
- 17:04Lord, will fill you with his strength.
- 17:08And then he'll establish you. He'll settle you, he'll lay a
- 17:13foundation. The foundation is laid and
- 17:17established to the point where it's in unshakable and
- 17:23immovable. But happens after you've
- 17:27suffered for a little while. There's some of you might be
- 17:31here today and say, well, you know, I've gone through
- 17:33suffering and I've gone through persecution and I've gone
- 17:35through hardship and I've gone through distress, whether it be
- 17:38emotional relational financial and all those kind of things.
- 17:41But no, that's happened to me. I'm not confirmed, I'm not
- 17:43perfected. I'm not strengthened, I don't
- 17:45see anything being supplied in my life.
- 17:49Well, there's an answer for that.
- 17:52He tells you up in verse number 5.
- 17:55God is opposed to the proud. But he gives Grace.
- 18:02To the humble. God of all Grace will do this.
- 18:09But he opposes the proud. But it is give Grace.
- 18:15To the humble. so, in the process of your desert
- 18:21experience, Instead of relinquishing yourself and
- 18:26relinquishing your pride and relinquishing all that.
- 18:30You think you are to the Lord and throwing yourself on his
- 18:33grace and his Mercy, you are still kicking and screaming and
- 18:37fighting and becoming bitter because of your situation and
- 18:41your circumstance and you don't understand why and you get so
- 18:44upset and you get so frustrated. Because your pride.
- 18:50So God does not bestow his grace.
- 18:53On the prideful, but only on the humble.
- 18:58A need to humble yourself before the true and living God.
- 19:04All that plays itself out in the life of Moses.
- 19:11It's all right there. and you know, as you go through Hebrews
- 19:1611, I could spend years on each character taking you back to
- 19:23Genesis and exodus explaining all these people to you, taking
- 19:27you back to Joshua and judges and letting you see the
- 19:31character of these people develop before you we could do
- 19:38that. But that would take us forever
- 19:40to get through Hebrews. Right?
- 19:43And we're not Jewish people Jewish.
- 19:44People would know the historical background of all those
- 19:47characters inside and out, right?
- 19:49Even know them. We don't But every once in a
- 19:53while, we take a brief moment to help you fill in the blanks.
- 19:58She can begin to understand what it means to walk by faith and
- 20:01not by sight. To believe.
- 20:04Absolutely. What God has said.
- 20:07And behave accordingly to all that.
- 20:08God has said, And Moses and Abraham are written about more
- 20:13than anybody else in Hebrews 11. And we know that that Moses
- 20:19would prefer the imperishable. We know that he would perceive
- 20:23the invisible because it says that he endured as seeing him
- 20:28who is unseen. He was 11.
- 20:30We know that he would forsake their treasures and Riches of
- 20:34Egypt that he might hinder her Affliction with the people of
- 20:37God. So you prefer the imperishable,
- 20:40he perceived the invisible, and we know through the book of
- 20:43Exodus that he he performed the impossible.
- 20:48But the only way he could perform the impossible was that
- 20:52he had to pass through the invaluable.
- 20:57And that was on the backside of the desert in Midian. now, the
- 21:02writer of Hebrews doesn't tell us about that, but the book of
- 21:07Exodus does In the Jewish audience would know about Moses
- 21:13because they knew that Moses was Israel's greatest leader.
- 21:18But what made Moses Israel's greatest leader?
- 21:23Because you see Moses in and of himself could not convince the
- 21:27Hebrew people that he was their deliverer.
- 21:30Although he tried always so desperately, tried he killed an
- 21:34Egyptian, we saw in Exodus chapter 2 because in Egyptian
- 21:37head had mistreated one of his one of his Hebrew people.
- 21:42So he killed them to show his power, his strength, his
- 21:47athleticism, that people will sit back and say, whoa, man, the
- 21:51man is strong. Look at that guy, maybe he will
- 21:54be our deliver. No didn't respond.
- 21:57And then the very next day, there were two Brethren to
- 21:59Hebrew people. Who are arguing?
- 22:00He broke up the fight so he can show them that.
- 22:03He was a peacemaker. But they said, what are you
- 22:04gonna do? Kill one of us to, they weren't
- 22:07ready to accept him as their leader.
- 22:10But he was doing all he can to prove to them.
- 22:12Hey I'm your guy man. Look at me.
- 22:14I can do these kind of things. Follow me but nobody wanted to
- 22:17follow. Although he was.
- 22:23Well educated, and he was a very educated, man.
- 22:28Very intelligent man. Very wise man.
- 22:31Moses was Acts tells us that he was mighty and deeds in mighty
- 22:39words. He could speak.
- 22:44He was able to perform great acts of wonder.
- 22:49Great guy. Magnificent man.
- 22:54You see him very self-confident. You see him very independent.
- 23:01You seem very self-reliant. You see him in control, right?
- 23:08All the things that we would say well this guy can lead this
- 23:11guy's a man. This guy's a man's man.
- 23:14This is the guy we need to have lead us.
- 23:18But nobody was following. So, by faith.
- 23:23That is he believed what God Said.
- 23:28He fled to Midian. He fled to Midian. interesting
- 23:34that in the book of Exodus, It says he's words.
- 23:41Verse 16, Exodus ship to another priest of Midian had seven
- 23:47daughters and they came to draw water and filled the troughs to
- 23:52water their fathers flock. Then the shepherd's came and
- 23:56drove them away, but Moses stood up and helped them and watered
- 24:00their flock. Wow, imagine the scene Seven
- 24:06women, because, He only had seven daughters and they went to
- 24:15to draw water for the Sheep, but other Shepherd's came and moved
- 24:19them out a way out of the way in Moses sees that.
- 24:23So what does Moses do? He does what?
- 24:27He's been educated to do, he does what he's been trained to
- 24:31do, he warns them off, he defends the women, and we would
- 24:36applaud that and rightly. So, he did the right thing.
- 24:40But, even in that, he was showing that he didn't need God.
- 24:44He just needed to do what he could do himself.
- 24:46And so he moved them all away and the women like me.
- 24:48Who, look at this guy, man. Look at Moses muscles.
- 24:53Take a whole bunch other Dad. Look at this.
- 24:56When they came to her Elder, father, he said, why have you
- 24:58come back so soon? They said, in Egyptian delivered
- 25:01us from the hand of the Shepherds and what is more?
- 25:04He even drew the water for us and one of the flock.
- 25:07Wow, dad, you should have been there.
- 25:09This guy was incredible. He went in and took a staffing.
- 25:13Well, what about that map? Move them all the way and then
- 25:16he filled the trauma often. Why did sheep?
- 25:22So the father says, as any good father would too, he said well
- 25:30where is he then? Where is he then why is it that
- 25:35you have left The Man Behind invite and to have something to
- 25:40eat? Go get the guy, ask him if he
- 25:43wants to stay forever, just go get them.
- 25:51Moses was willing to dwell with the man.
- 25:54And he gave his daughter zipporah to Moses that she gave
- 25:57birth to a son. He named him gershom and he said
- 26:01I had been a Sojourner in a foreign land.
- 26:09Next scene is. 40 years later. At Mount, Horeb Mount Sinai.
- 26:18Would God would appear to Moses in the burning bush.
- 26:25So you have a man, Moses. Hoofer the better part of 80
- 26:32years. Saw himself as the man.
- 26:37But had to come to a place to realize.
- 26:42They needed God. She never read about Moses and
- 26:47prayer. Never read about Moses, walking
- 26:52and intimacy with God Walking with God, the cool of the day
- 26:55and fellowshipping with his God, you never see those things in
- 26:59Moses, his life. Description doesn't record those
- 27:04things. We know by faith, we knew what
- 27:06God Said, and God have to speak to him and move him.
- 27:09And so he knew that, but we never saw Moses of the men of
- 27:12prayer and prayer is that one element that shows us our
- 27:15dependence upon God, right? Show me how long you pray and
- 27:19I'll show you how dependent you are up on.
- 27:20God, show me how little you pray.
- 27:23And I'll show you how much you depend upon your own education,
- 27:26your own skill, your own Financial, well, being your own
- 27:29person Hood. So simple as that.
- 27:33So, here's Moses. Never really spent time in
- 27:40prayer. He was one who was never.
- 27:47Said of one who sought after God or waited on God.
- 27:55He used human logic human wisdom.
- 27:59And Riley, so he was gifted that way.
- 28:03He used the fact that he was an educated man who knew what to do
- 28:08all those things. But none of that qualified him
- 28:13to be God's man. The qualified him to be
- 28:16pharaohs, man. That qualified him to lead in
- 28:20Egypt. But in qualifying, the lead in
- 28:25God's Kingdom. Because God has a different set
- 28:29of Standards than the world does. and so, while he Had been
- 28:36to the school of, man. By faith, God led him to Midian
- 28:43a dry desert Place. Modern-day Saudi Arabia because
- 28:48although he was educated in the school of man, He now had to be
- 28:54educated in the school of God. In the school of God, there's
- 29:00only one professor. It's God himself.
- 29:07And the classroom is not air conditioned or done remotely so
- 29:13you can sit at home on your bed and do the schooling.
- 29:16No, the classroom is the backside of a desert?
- 29:21When you graduate. You graduate with a PhD in the
- 29:27ways of God. That was Moses.
- 29:34He would graduate with the PHD in in the ways of God.
- 29:40When you come to Exodus chapter 3, you can already see a
- 29:44difference in Moses. It says, in chapter 3 verse
- 29:47number 11, Moses said to God, who am I?
- 29:51That I should go to pharaoh and that I should bring the sons of
- 29:55Israel out of Egypt. Who am I?
- 29:58Well, 40 years earlier he was trying to convince him that he
- 30:00was the god. And then in verse number 1 of
- 30:04chapter 4, Moses said, what if they will not believe me or
- 30:07listen to to what I say for? They may say the Lord has not
- 30:11appeared to you. You can't reason with these
- 30:14Jewish people, you can't sit down with them and have a
- 30:17conversation with them. I tried that it doesn't work
- 30:21verse 10 of chapter 4. Then Moses said to the Lord,
- 30:23please Lord, I have never been eloquent neither recently, nor
- 30:27in time past nor since you have spoken to your servant for I am
- 30:31slow of speech and slow. Of ton, we're 40 years earlier.
- 30:35He was very verbose, he would speak all kinds of things
- 30:39because he was eloquent and words, he would try to reason
- 30:43with everybody, talk them into following him, but now, 40 years
- 30:47later, Can't speak so much. I'm slow of speech.
- 30:54What can I say? What do I say?
- 30:58How do I say it? Different kind of, man. and
- 31:05then, In Exodus chapter 14. When they have been released.
- 31:14From Egyptian bondage, listen to the words of Moses to show you
- 31:19the difference of how this man is at the age of 80.
- 31:25That he was at the age of 40. Verse 10 of chapter 14 and
- 31:33Pharaoh Drew near the sons of Israel looked and behold the
- 31:37Egyptians were marching after them and they became very
- 31:41frightened. So the sons of Israel, cried out
- 31:44to the Lord, then they said to Moses, is it?
- 31:47Because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us
- 31:50away to die in the wilderness. Why have you dealt with us, in
- 31:53this way, bringing us out of Egypt is this?
- 31:57Not the word that we spoke to you in Egypt saying leave.
- 32:01Us alone that we may serve the Egyptians for it would have been
- 32:05better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the
- 32:10wilderness. Hmm, so what do you do?
- 32:15Moses said to the people did not fear stand by, and see the
- 32:21salvation of the Lord, which he will accomplish for you today
- 32:26for the Egyptians. Whom you have seen today, you
- 32:30will never see them again forever.
- 32:34The Lord will fight for you while you keep Silence, the
- 32:42Great. Moses learned.
- 32:48Psalm 103 thousands. First number 7, mark it down.
- 32:54He made known his ways to Moses. His acts to the children of
- 33:03Israel. He made known his ways to Moses
- 33:10his acts to the children of Israel.
- 33:17Moses knew the ways of God. But the children of Israel did
- 33:23not know the ways of God. They could see the acts of God.
- 33:30They could watch God from a distance.
- 33:34But they did not know the ways of God.
- 33:39That's why the psalmist would say these words.
- 33:44Or put it this way. Exodus 33 Moses said this.
- 33:50I pray you Lord. If I have found favor in your
- 33:55sight let me know your ways that I may know you.
- 34:06You don't know God, unless, you know the ways of God.
- 34:11And so Moses is cry. Was Lord.
- 34:13Show me your ways. Teach me your ways.
- 34:17So you go to the Psalms. And it says, in in Psalm 25
- 34:21verse, number four, make me know your ways O.
- 34:24Lord, teach me your paths, Lead Me In Your Truth and teach me
- 34:29for you are the god of my salvation for you.
- 34:32I wait all the day but it's all dependent upon the ways of God.
- 34:37And then it says in verse number nine, he leaves the humble and
- 34:41Justice. He teaches the humble his way,
- 34:48he doesn't teach the Arrogant as way he teaches the humble his
- 34:52way. Doesn't the Book of Numbers.
- 34:56Tell us that Moses was the meekest man on the face of the
- 35:01Earth. He made known his ways to Moses.
- 35:08But the children of Israel. Could only watch the acts of God
- 35:15from a distance. And then, it says over in Psalm
- 35:1927. Teach me your way O Lord and
- 35:24Lead Me in a smooth or level path because of my foes again,
- 35:30the song was Christ, Lord, teach me your ways, Psalm 86.
- 35:34So many 6 verse, number 11, teach me your way O Lord I will
- 35:38walk in your truth unite My Heart To Fear your name and I
- 35:43will give thanks to You O Lord my God with all my heart and
- 35:46will glorify your name forever. Who was the guy that glorifies
- 35:50it? The name of God forever.
- 35:53He's the guy who give thanks to God in his heart.
- 35:55Who's the guy who gives thanks to God in his heart, the guy
- 35:58whose heart has United to fear the lord.
- 36:00And who is the guy whose heart is United to fear?
- 36:03The lord? It's the guy who says, Lord
- 36:05teach me your ways. I want to know, you're with my
- 36:10ways are irrelevant. My family's waves are
- 36:14irrelevant. Lord, your ways are relevant
- 36:17your ways. Your ways are the only thing
- 36:21that makes a difference. Teach me.
- 36:26Your ways. Psalm 95.
- 36:31Listen to this. God says for 40 years, I
- 36:37loathed. That Generation The Generation
- 36:42that came out of Egypt. I load them and said they are a
- 36:47people who are in their heart. Why do they are in the heart?
- 36:51Here it is. Ready.
- 36:52And they do not know my ways. Therefore, I sworn my anger,
- 37:01truly, they shall not enter my rest.
- 37:07Wow, how about you? You know, the ways of God.
- 37:17What did Jesus say? I am.
- 37:23The way. And the truth.
- 37:26I am the life but he says, I am. The way.
- 37:32I'm the only way. In other words, it's my way or
- 37:36the hell way, there is no other way on the way.
- 37:42And you got to cry for me to know the way.
- 37:46Like Moses did. And God brought Moses to a place
- 37:51in his life where he would depend upon God for everything.
- 37:56No longer was he self-reliant no longer was.
- 37:58He self-confident? All of us confidence was in God.
- 38:02All of us dependence was upon God.
- 38:04No longer. Was he an independent thinker?
- 38:07No longer. Was he an arrogant individual
- 38:10knows all about Lord? What do I do now?
- 38:11Lord, teach me your ways. Lord, if your present does not
- 38:14go with us, we are not leaving from this place because we need
- 38:17you, we're not going anywhere unless you go before us.
- 38:19Lord, we need you. So, when the psalmist says, he
- 38:25may notice ways to Moses. But his acts to the children of
- 38:29Israel. Moses would walk.
- 38:34In intimacy with his God. Because he the path through
- 38:40that, which is invaluable. Because it is doubtful.
- 38:47Whether God can bless the man greatly.
- 38:50Until he is. First of all hurt him deeply.
- 38:55Let me pray with you. Father, we thank you for this
- 38:58day. We thank you for the time as
- 39:02brief as it is that we could spend a new word.
- 39:07But we are grateful for the reminder.
- 39:11The man, Moses. Who learned the ways of God?
- 39:17May we be those kind of people Lord.
- 39:21You have said that you are the way.
- 39:25You are the only way there is no other way.
- 39:28You are that way. And father we want to know your
- 39:32ways. We want to know you.
- 39:37We don't want to air in our hearts.
- 39:40We don't want you to loathe this generation.
- 39:45We want you to love this generation.
- 39:48So, we're asking. That you would do a mighty work
- 39:52in all of our lives. Draw us closer to you, Lord.
- 39:57Stop at nothing. To make us the people you want
- 40:02us to be. That we might totally Rely Upon
- 40:06Our God for everything. Erase our independence from you.
- 40:14Establish our dependence upon you.
- 40:18And we will give you glory. until you come again, as you
- 40:22most surely will in Jesus name, amen.
