- 0:19Speaker 1: Yello.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Welcome back to Drama Darling, and today it's going to
- 0:24Speaker 3: be a great recap episode of Gross Point Garden Society.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Joining me as always is Megan Granno and Og from GP.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Just like me, Megan, so many rhymes.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I feel like a DJ.
- 0:41Speaker 3: I feel like an old school radio DJ, which, by
- 0:44Speaker 3: the way, well, first of all, hello.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Hello, thank you for having me back on your awesome program.
- 0:53Speaker 1: You're so welcome.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Brett says program as well, and always coutch me my Brett,
- 0:58Speaker 3: not Brett from gross Plank Guard Society, my brut who
- 1:01Speaker 3: I call Bryant. But speaking of like radio DJs, and
- 1:06Speaker 3: this is gonna you know, hopefully the people were listening
- 1:09Speaker 3: in the Detroit metro area. And Van can remember a
- 1:13Speaker 3: little radio show morning show called Dick Purton and Purtons people.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Do you remember that?
- 1:19Speaker 2: I do, I certainly do, remembering even that the name
- 1:23Speaker 2: was so popular that his daughter Jackie per yes I
- 1:27Speaker 2: believe was the name was one of the og second
- 1:29Speaker 2: city Detroit people.
- 1:30Speaker 4: They knew she would like bring a crowd.
- 1:32Speaker 1: She brought that crowd, yes Jackie.
- 1:38Speaker 3: So years later you know she ended up working on
- 1:43Speaker 3: his morning show obviously, Okay, cut to They had a
- 1:48Speaker 3: little like a contest called Perton's Protege if you want
- 1:52Speaker 3: to be Purtin's Protege. It was in like two thousand
- 1:54Speaker 3: and four, two thousand and five, and you can send
- 1:59Speaker 3: in your tape.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Is going where I think this is going?
- 2:05Speaker 1: I hope it's going. I won, And.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Oh my goodnite.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I can't believe I never told you this story.
- 2:14Speaker 4: This is so funny.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yes, So it was when I was working at Jay
- 2:18Speaker 3: Walter Thompson, which is a Detroit yeah advertising company that
- 2:22Speaker 3: they now moved it into several different names of Jay
- 2:29Speaker 3: Walter to like Team Detroit to something else to something else.
- 2:32Speaker 3: So but when when I was there, it was Jay Walter,
- 2:35Speaker 3: it was downtown Detroit. But anyway, so that's kind of
- 2:39Speaker 3: around the time when I was working on doing on
- 2:41Speaker 3: the on the side, I was doing improv and working
- 2:45Speaker 3: on my voiceover demo and doing all that stuff while
- 2:47Speaker 3: I was working there. And so I ended up winning
- 2:50Speaker 3: this contest and then so I like won like five
- 2:53Speaker 3: hundred dollars and I got to drive a Jaguar for
- 2:56Speaker 3: a week from like the dealership or whatever it was.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Amazing.
- 3:01Speaker 3: And then because like the finale was at like where
- 3:04Speaker 3: they picked the winner was at like one of the
- 3:06Speaker 3: you know, Royal O'Brian or not that, but like the
- 3:08Speaker 3: Jaguar dealership. You know, my goodness, yes, it was so
- 3:13Speaker 3: fun and that from so skinner driving that I'm sorry,
- 3:17Speaker 3: just side note, like driving around I mean, oh, my goodness, yeah,
- 3:22Speaker 3: I need sensors on the cars, like because.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I was like, like, for here you are again, I'm like.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I hope hopefully they're loaded without stuff.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I don't remember.
- 3:34Speaker 4: It was so luck then what happened?
- 3:37Speaker 3: So you drove the Jaguar. I drove the Jaguar. I
- 3:39Speaker 3: stole the jet. No, I'm kidding, that would be weird.
- 3:42Speaker 3: So then I just ended up like working on the
- 3:45Speaker 3: show on a nas needed basis as a freelancer, and
- 3:48Speaker 3: I would pitch sketches and then I would go in
- 3:51Speaker 3: because this was during the time of like Hillary Clinton
- 3:55Speaker 3: and Bill and like all that stuff with the cheating,
- 3:58Speaker 3: and then it was also the time when Martha Stewart
- 4:00Speaker 3: was in prison. So I was doing like a lot
- 4:03Speaker 3: of you know, like I fashioned a shove out of
- 4:05Speaker 3: the tooth perorotion and one of my be Hoss helped me.
- 4:10Speaker 3: So I was like, it was really the pinnacle of
- 4:12Speaker 3: a lot of impressions that worked for my wheelhouse.
- 4:16Speaker 2: You know what an amazing what an amazing thing and
- 4:20Speaker 2: such a good venue. You're so unbelievably off the charts
- 4:23Speaker 2: talented and impressions and it's just like what that you
- 4:27Speaker 2: got to do it on person?
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it was great.
- 4:31Speaker 3: So and so I just did stuff for them for
- 4:33Speaker 3: a while until then I ended up moving to Chicago,
- 4:36Speaker 3: but that just reminded me. So shout out to Dick
- 4:38Speaker 3: Purton and Purton's people and like big Al he was amazing.
- 4:42Speaker 3: I just and Jackie she was so great. I learned
- 4:44Speaker 3: a lot from her, Megan, because coming in there at
- 4:47Speaker 3: like four point thirty in the morning and seeing her
- 4:50Speaker 3: behind her computer and literally typing up while the show
- 4:55Speaker 3: is going on, and during commercial breaks or even when
- 4:57Speaker 3: Dick Purton was talking, she would be type up sketches
- 5:00Speaker 3: for that morning for them to do. Oh my gosh,
- 5:03Speaker 3: like no one's business crank.
- 5:05Speaker 4: That is a gift.
- 5:06Speaker 2: That is Yeah, It's like I've seen a couple of
- 5:09Speaker 2: people like that in my life, and it is just
- 5:12Speaker 2: they their brain is just wired differently to do that
- 5:14Speaker 2: because I sort of need to create an environment when
- 5:17Speaker 2: I'm in the mood to write, and I will distract
- 5:20Speaker 2: myself with like cleaning, Oh yes, all sorts of stuff.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Like I can't just crank like that.
- 5:25Speaker 1: No you can't. No, I mean I'm talking about us.
- 5:28Speaker 1: We can't crank.
- 5:29Speaker 3: It's the whole Like, I've got a big project to
- 5:32Speaker 3: work on and i have to write, and I've never
- 5:35Speaker 3: accomplished more in my home in my life, Like I've
- 5:38Speaker 3: now organized everything.
- 5:39Speaker 1: It's amazing, Like give me, give me.
- 5:42Speaker 3: A deadline for a creative project and my house will
- 5:44Speaker 3: be perfection.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, walls, repainted, everything.
- 5:52Speaker 3: So Megan and I are actually not on purpose, but
- 5:55Speaker 3: we ended up wearing I'm wearing pink and she's wearing green,
- 5:59Speaker 3: and I'm talking like a Kelly Green too.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yes, I chose the Kelly green because I'm going, this
- 6:04Speaker 2: is the day we are wrapping up this awesome show,
- 6:07Speaker 2: Gross Point Guarden.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Society, and I was like, I gotta do something. I
- 6:10Speaker 4: got to wear some.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Green yep, and she for Amy.
- 6:15Speaker 2: To show up in that pink, I'm like, oh, it's crazy,
- 6:19Speaker 2: it is really funny.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Meant to be right cross Point.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Yes, I also remembered to fill up my amazing twall
- 6:31Speaker 3: shop water bottle. And this is our this Gross Point
- 6:36Speaker 3: Garden Society recap. All these are unofficially sponsored by this
- 6:41Speaker 3: it's just they sent us some of their swag. They
- 6:43Speaker 3: have amazing acrylic trays. As you can see, we went
- 6:46Speaker 3: through this before. But like all of the stuff on
- 6:50Speaker 3: these water bottles and all of their products are landmarks
- 6:54Speaker 3: and things that are reminiscent of gross Point and the
- 6:56Speaker 3: surrounding areas. We have a freighter we've got I think
- 6:59Speaker 3: the war memorial on here are gross Points South, like the.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Fish flies or dragonflies?
- 7:06Speaker 2: Yes, just what else do we have there? I don't
- 7:09Speaker 2: have mine with me today. I'm glad one of us
- 7:11Speaker 2: has it.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 7:11Speaker 3: So anyway, if you want to look at their products,
- 7:14Speaker 3: go to chwall shop and that's twa l dot shop.
- 7:19Speaker 3: So thank you so much for sending us that stuff.
- 7:22Speaker 1: We love it.
- 7:23Speaker 3: And now we need to get into Oh my god.
- 7:26Speaker 3: So the finale was on Friday.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yes, and I'm just I just have to tell you
- 7:33Speaker 2: these last three episodes leading up to this, the two
- 7:37Speaker 2: episodes and then the finale, I mean, I have just
- 7:40Speaker 2: been blown away by this show. How every single thing
- 7:44Speaker 2: that they laid out the whole season paid off. This
- 7:46Speaker 2: was a masterclass in paying off, Like every detail that
- 7:51Speaker 2: they put into the show.
- 7:52Speaker 1: It's unbelievable.
- 7:53Speaker 3: And I know that you and I can appreciate that
- 7:55Speaker 3: from an improv standpoint when you're doing the Harolds. For
- 7:57Speaker 3: those of you who like a problem nerds, you know you,
- 8:02Speaker 3: and that is the challenge.
- 8:04Speaker 2: But like to.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Have all these layers of a mystery and then to
- 8:09Speaker 3: wrap them up into and then with the editing magic
- 8:13Speaker 3: of doing the six months six months, six months, and
- 8:17Speaker 3: then of course landing on another mystery. So this is
- 8:21Speaker 3: what I didn't expect. Okay, this is why we all
- 8:24Speaker 3: need to like put our vibes together because we need
- 8:27Speaker 3: a season two.
- 8:28Speaker 4: And I know that.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yeah. So because they they.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Ended on like next season, now we're like at they're
- 8:36Speaker 3: a little uh. They're at their spectacular.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yes, yes for Halloween and once again amazing decor gross
- 8:44Speaker 2: point leveled, just unbelievable decorations. It looks like an amazing gala, gala,
- 8:51Speaker 2: gala ago.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know what, we're in Michigan, so we're
- 8:55Speaker 3: gonna say gala yella.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Okay, the gyella just incredible.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Well, and we see this little flash at the end
- 9:03Speaker 2: of three of our characters. We have Brett, Catherine, and Bertie.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Alice is missing. We don't know what's up.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I think she's the one in the duck costume, right, chicky?
- 9:14Speaker 1: Is that a duck or a chick? What is that?
- 9:16Speaker 4: I wrote the same question down.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Okay, yes, I mean that, by the way, So Bertie's
- 9:25Speaker 3: costume is like the Bride of Frankenstein is the sickest
- 9:28Speaker 3: costume I've ever seen.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Yes, so cool?
- 9:32Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, so the duck is like, I mean, it's
- 9:34Speaker 3: got to be Alice, right, because so I think.
- 9:37Speaker 2: But this show has been so full of twists and
- 9:39Speaker 2: turns to me that I don't know. I mean, I
- 9:42Speaker 2: feel like that's what they want us to think, and
- 9:44Speaker 2: then I'm like, it's got to be her, right, But
- 9:46Speaker 2: then I don't think it's like it's Ford. Yeah, oh
- 9:52Speaker 2: call it right now.
- 9:53Speaker 4: We call it.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I call it, We're calling it. We called it. We've
- 9:58Speaker 1: tried to call a lot and most times we've been
- 10:02Speaker 1: pretty dead wrong.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Well, yeah, like, I don't even know where you want
- 10:11Speaker 2: to begin, but I just want to.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Say, let's say who who died?
- 10:14Speaker 4: Go ahead?
- 10:15Speaker 2: Go all right on the count of three, yeah, one, two, three, yee.
- 10:23Speaker 1: It's Keith. And now it makes sense why they call
- 10:25Speaker 1: him Keish.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Yes, it made so much sense to me finally, and
- 10:29Speaker 4: I'm also was like, yeah, you're bland with fire. It's
- 10:32Speaker 4: really close guys.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I'm glad they didn't call him queef
- 10:39Speaker 3: or like, you know, like Heath.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I can only imagine, like, yeah.
- 10:43Speaker 3: It's like, wow, Heath is gone. What are we gonna
- 10:45Speaker 3: do with Heath's body? It's like, you know, a little close.
- 10:48Speaker 3: But we didn't see it coming. We didn't put it together.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Why they threw me for a loop because in whatever
- 10:55Speaker 2: episode it was where we saw that image of Keith
- 10:58Speaker 2: spying on them, I was it's like, oh, so it's
- 11:01Speaker 2: not him, because he's there, so I thought he was.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I really was like, Oh, he's going to be the
- 11:06Speaker 2: one who turns them in. He's going to hold it
- 11:08Speaker 2: over their heads.
- 11:08Speaker 4: It did not occur to me it could be him.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Or that it was an accident, which is obviously so
- 11:13Speaker 3: much nicer because you want to be able to be
- 11:16Speaker 3: on the side of the villains.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Yes, and I was really happy that it was an
- 11:22Speaker 2: accident because I have come to love these foursome yes
- 11:26Speaker 2: happy happy accident. This speaking of improv, this whole how
- 11:31Speaker 2: he died reminded me of there's an improv exercise that
- 11:34Speaker 2: I remember doing at IO in class where you would
- 11:37Speaker 2: have they would give you an object and you would
- 11:39Speaker 2: have to figure out a way to die from the
- 11:40Speaker 2: object and the scene.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Oh really, that's hilarious. I've never known like that. That's
- 11:44Speaker 1: really fun.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Oh it was a riot.
- 11:46Speaker 2: And as we're there in that mac Avenue garden shop
- 11:50Speaker 2: and the wood chippers there, and there's all these tools, dangerous.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Tools hanging on the wall, I'm like, oh my gosh,
- 11:56Speaker 4: this is this improv game. How is he going to die?
- 11:59Speaker 4: I thought he was going to go into the wood chipper.
- 12:02Speaker 2: But no, no, no, no, backwards, he backwards, he fell into.
- 12:07Speaker 4: The I don't know what it's called.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Who knows what that is? I mean, I don't even
- 12:12Speaker 1: know where to begin.
- 12:14Speaker 3: A dirt grinder, a dirt, a dirt, yes, mixer up
- 12:20Speaker 3: for a dirt perforator.
- 12:23Speaker 1: That's dirt. What a good name?
- 12:27Speaker 4: I think that is what it's called.
- 12:28Speaker 1: It sounds like an insult, you freaking dirt perforator? How
- 12:32Speaker 1: dare you?
- 12:33Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, I'm so insulted.
- 12:37Speaker 3: I cannot believe you get a call from our from
- 12:40Speaker 3: the school. I'm sorry, missus, Scannell, your daughter. She she
- 12:45Speaker 3: calls someone a dirt perforator. Yeah, and that's not out here,
- 12:48Speaker 3: so she's expelled.
- 12:50Speaker 4: But it's a it's a compliment.
- 12:53Speaker 2: She's turning the dirt, she's speaking, the dirt fresh for
- 12:55Speaker 2: plants to grow.
- 12:57Speaker 3: So they have to move the body. Obviously they know this.
- 13:01Speaker 3: We were trying to figure out how we're gonna do this,
- 13:02Speaker 3: how we're gonna do this. Catherine has this brilliant idea, which,
- 13:06Speaker 3: by the way, Tucker and Catherine. Tucker is like, oh yeah, baby.
- 13:08Speaker 3: He's so turned on by the fact that she's like,
- 13:11Speaker 3: you know, you know, so deep in a cheating scandal
- 13:15Speaker 3: and now a murder scandal. He is like, forget about gambling.
- 13:19Speaker 3: I like this, this is my new life.
- 13:21Speaker 1: This is where I want it.
- 13:22Speaker 2: He is.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Yeah, he's a type tea personality. He likes thrill. I've
- 13:26Speaker 4: decided that I've never heard that you're a thrill seeker, buddy.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Because she's sitting there getting eaten alive by this guilt
- 13:34Speaker 2: from this accidental murder that they've covered up and he's like,
- 13:38Speaker 2: you know, She's like, how do I live with this?
- 13:39Speaker 4: He's like, just live with it.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Like, let's go to dinner at the Hill. Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 13:46Speaker 1: The grill. They call it the Grill.
- 13:49Speaker 4: I love that.
- 13:50Speaker 1: It's so perfect.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I'm like, wait, I actually think there is a restaurant
- 13:53Speaker 3: called like the Grill or like the Girl's Point Grill.
- 13:56Speaker 3: I think in the yes, I feel it's right. Yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 3: he is a Oh my god, Megan, that's so perfect.
- 14:01Speaker 3: He's a thrill seeker. He's a type tea. So he's
- 14:05Speaker 3: just like loving life and he just wants to plaster
- 14:08Speaker 3: her picture all over busses and stuff like that. He's like,
- 14:10Speaker 3: this is my lady, Like let's celebrate her. She's cheater,
- 14:13Speaker 3: she's a murderer, Like, this is my gal. And she's
- 14:17Speaker 3: like I how do I do this? And then she
- 14:20Speaker 3: has this brilliant idea to put Keish in the compost,
- 14:24Speaker 3: which is actually I mean that's a brilliant idea because
- 14:28Speaker 3: we're putting him back in the in the soil, and
- 14:31Speaker 3: it's kind of it's at least ceremonial.
- 14:33Speaker 1: But when they turned and churned, oh.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Bang, I know, and it was just clunking around in there,
- 14:41Speaker 2: and it just, oh my gosh, but I mean it.
- 14:44Speaker 2: I feel like I have a couple of things I
- 14:46Speaker 2: want to say. I had had up until a week ago,
- 14:49Speaker 2: one of those turnam composters, really because here in Burbank
- 14:53Speaker 2: they made it a requirement that you you know, you
- 14:55Speaker 2: can't put your food waste into your trash anymore.
- 14:59Speaker 4: So I went an extra mile. They didn't require you
- 15:02Speaker 4: to come for me.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Because you're always like a, oh no, don't worry.
- 15:06Speaker 4: I quit. I also like to quit things really type
- 15:09Speaker 4: a Q thank you. So I left it.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I tried it first and then I just let it,
- 15:15Speaker 2: left it sitting back there because it was really annoying,
- 15:18Speaker 2: like cranking the thing constantly was like, yeah, this is
- 15:21Speaker 2: a lot of work.
- 15:22Speaker 4: It's too much work.
- 15:23Speaker 2: So I left it back there and I just sold
- 15:25Speaker 2: it on one of those and not sold, I gave
- 15:28Speaker 2: it away on one of those pie nothing groups, you know,
- 15:32Speaker 2: like Trader. I was like, this is just way too
- 15:35Speaker 2: much work. But that cranking, Oh my gosh. You know,
- 15:37Speaker 2: I'm thinking, oh, this is it's a lot of work.
- 15:40Speaker 2: You're gonna have to crank that thing twice a day
- 15:41Speaker 2: with a body in there.
- 15:43Speaker 3: And don't you think anyone else in the garden club
- 15:45Speaker 3: is going to end up cranking it and be like, yeah,
- 15:48Speaker 3: Donna's going to be like, oh what the fuck, Like
- 15:50Speaker 3: she's going to freak out, Donna.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Freak But but then as I was like, really, this
- 15:56Speaker 4: is beautiful.
- 15:57Speaker 2: It's beautiful that for the theme of the show, he's
- 16:01Speaker 2: in the compost at the end.
- 16:03Speaker 4: Just beautiful it.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Is and like the bad yes, like he is part
- 16:08Speaker 3: of the freaking garden from the beginning to the end,
- 16:12Speaker 3: and in a in a nice way. And I kind
- 16:14Speaker 3: of thought, I mean, do I want to be Composted's
- 16:17Speaker 3: like my final resting plane. But I mean, I guess
- 16:21Speaker 3: we're all kind of compost really at the end of
- 16:23Speaker 3: the day. Yeah, but you know, we're just not like
- 16:26Speaker 3: raw compost for there's a coffin or there's an urn.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Yes, we'd like to think it's not, but you're right, yeah,
- 16:33Speaker 2: we're going into that.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Yeah, we're composting ourselves.
- 16:36Speaker 2: I like that as an option, you know, for when
- 16:38Speaker 2: you die, Like do you want a coffin, do you
- 16:40Speaker 2: want a cremation or do you want a compost?
- 16:42Speaker 3: All seas, all seas, Oh my god, the Three Seas
- 16:45Speaker 3: it's not cut carrot and color.
- 16:47Speaker 1: It's like some diamonds. It's the three seas of death.
- 16:50Speaker 3: But wait, also, I do want to mention that, like
- 16:54Speaker 3: if you think about it, I mean, there's just junk underground,
- 16:58Speaker 3: and you know, I mean, like it's just a bunch
- 16:59Speaker 3: of would I guess wood will compost?
- 17:03Speaker 1: Right? Would will?
- 17:04Speaker 4: Yes?
- 17:05Speaker 1: Yes? Okay.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I wonder if they'll come out like Starbucks just came
- 17:08Speaker 3: out with the new compost cups. Have you seen those?
- 17:10Speaker 3: They're compostable? No, yeah, So just be careful because you're
- 17:16Speaker 3: gonna pop a in, you know what I mean, Like
- 17:19Speaker 3: you're gonna make a sacrifice. You're gonna spill it probably
- 17:22Speaker 3: at one point or the other because it's gonna come
- 17:24Speaker 3: a little bit loose.
- 17:25Speaker 1: But I was like, oh my gosh, good for them.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Yeah, that is that's a big investment.
- 17:31Speaker 2: It's not exactly cheap to create these items that are compostable.
- 17:35Speaker 2: I don't think I don't know anything about it, but
- 17:37Speaker 2: I'm just putting that out there.
- 17:39Speaker 3: But like, so, I wonder if they'll eventually offer like
- 17:44Speaker 3: coffin compostable coffins.
- 17:47Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 17:47Speaker 4: For the environment.
- 17:49Speaker 1: It's more like forward.
- 17:50Speaker 4: Thinking business idea right here.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Okay, guys, I already trademarked it, so you can't have it. Okay,
- 18:01Speaker 3: all right, So I know we're kind of going off
- 18:03Speaker 3: the rails here, but I do want to mention back, like, okay,
- 18:08Speaker 3: so we don't know how.
- 18:09Speaker 1: It's going to end. Obviously we want a season two.
- 18:11Speaker 3: So anyone who hasn't watched this, you know, if you're
- 18:14Speaker 3: just listening because you love Real Housewives, you love drama,
- 18:17Speaker 3: Darling and all that stuff, please binge it, binge it,
- 18:20Speaker 3: binge it, binge it. I know you can get it
- 18:23Speaker 3: like on demand on NBC. You can do it on Peacock.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Binge the heck out of it because we have to
- 18:28Speaker 3: have season two. Shows like this don't come around that often,
- 18:31Speaker 3: and I would hate for this to go not come back.
- 18:35Speaker 4: I feel the same way.
- 18:36Speaker 2: It's just so fun. It's so much fun, and like
- 18:40Speaker 2: I said, it's just like it's one of those shows
- 18:42Speaker 2: that it pays binging.
- 18:44Speaker 4: It is the best way because it pays off.
- 18:46Speaker 2: It's not these independent episodes that never lead to anything.
- 18:50Speaker 3: It's just so fun. It's so rewarding. It's so rewarding.
- 18:53Speaker 3: And Okay, so the one thing that I do remember
- 18:55Speaker 3: calling out was and this is pretty obvious obviously, but
- 18:58Speaker 3: you know the cop Joel. Yes, so his cop that's
- 19:04Speaker 3: sort of under him, you know, dun Okay, thank you Duncan.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Oh my god, that's such a gross point name. By
- 19:10Speaker 3: the way, I knew someone named Duncan. But he, you know,
- 19:14Speaker 3: he was encouraging him to like take the lead on
- 19:16Speaker 3: that on Donna's case when she came in that night.
- 19:20Speaker 3: So now it's spiting him in the little cute you
- 19:23Speaker 3: know what. And so here we have him trying to
- 19:27Speaker 3: follow up on his friend in the red dress and
- 19:30Speaker 3: the bracelet guy and the tweaker and all this stuff,
- 19:32Speaker 3: and he Joel's like, you know what, step off.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah, he is in so deep with the cover up
- 19:38Speaker 2: of this thing for Bertie that he is.
- 19:40Speaker 4: I mean, this guy is gonna lose his career. I'm
- 19:44Speaker 4: worried about it.
- 19:44Speaker 1: No, he's definitely done. I mean he was like Detroit
- 19:49Speaker 1: to belize one way ticket please, and that in comes
- 19:52Speaker 1: the cop. So I was thinking, he's like a close window.
- 19:55Speaker 4: I'm like, dude, do we get on your work computer?
- 19:59Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 20:00Speaker 4: Yeah, not a good idea.
- 20:01Speaker 2: I got to teach you a few things about police work, right,
- 20:06Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 20:07Speaker 4: Wow.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he's trying to throw Duncan off the scent. I mean,
- 20:11Speaker 2: he's really I feel like he even comes so far
- 20:14Speaker 2: as to tell him, like, you gotta let this go.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Many like it's pretty out there. He's pretty forthright about
- 20:23Speaker 2: that he's involved in something.
- 20:25Speaker 3: He's pretty like, yeah, he's pretty much like, this is
- 20:28Speaker 3: something that I'm doing and I'm completely involved in my
- 20:34Speaker 3: pro conspirators, So step off, yes. And then we have
- 20:38Speaker 3: Alice that comes in because she needs this long message
- 20:41Speaker 3: to Brett and was like, maybe I do have feelings.
- 20:45Speaker 3: And then it's like then she shows up at the
- 20:49Speaker 3: police station and.
- 20:50Speaker 2: We're left with the cliffhanger of that because I don't
- 20:53Speaker 2: know what she's gonna do there. But you know, we're
- 20:56Speaker 2: left at the end of this finale episode there trying
- 21:00Speaker 2: to deal with the composting. They're spinning the composter and
- 21:02Speaker 2: she's not there. Nobody's heard from her, right, It's like,
- 21:06Speaker 2: oh my gosh, where where has she gone? There's you know,
- 21:11Speaker 2: there's a lot of things. I still that's why I
- 21:13Speaker 2: want a season two. I want to know more about
- 21:15Speaker 2: because the Patty situation she left, she has just gone
- 21:21Speaker 2: about her blissful life for it seems like five or
- 21:24Speaker 2: six days with her husband.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Gone, she's like, yeah, up at the cabin, just full
- 21:29Speaker 3: on acceptance, you know, just totally ice fishing, can hear?
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah, No, that's it.
- 21:35Speaker 4: I'm down with it.
- 21:36Speaker 2: And then her son Doug comes home and he's like,
- 21:38Speaker 2: what are you talking about?
- 21:39Speaker 4: Dad wasn't there at all.
- 21:40Speaker 2: And it's like, oh my goodness, what is going to
- 21:43Speaker 2: happen here? And I don't know. I want to know
- 21:46Speaker 2: what she's going to do.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Well, yeah, she's like, it happened.
- 21:51Speaker 3: That's Lisa Barlow from the Okay. I also love that
- 21:57Speaker 3: the finale episode began with Patty digging or like filling
- 22:03Speaker 3: in the hole, and then we're like, oh, okay, so
- 22:05Speaker 3: she's obviously burying the dog.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 22:08Speaker 3: We didn't know what she was bearing because the dog
- 22:09Speaker 3: was found, not buried, right, Okay, that's right.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Then of course we get right, I don't remember now.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I can't either, huh yeah, but they're definitely burying the dog.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Yeah okay, I think, yeah, yeah, so and then of
- 22:25Speaker 3: course we get the immediate scene in Marylynd's kitchen, which
- 22:28Speaker 3: was very gp yes, and she was like yeah, and
- 22:32Speaker 3: then they get down to business, where's my freaking quilt?
- 22:35Speaker 3: And then the next thing, you know, later on, why
- 22:39Speaker 3: do they have this estranged friendship.
- 22:41Speaker 1: It's because.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Poor Marilyn. I mean, she just should have come clean.
- 22:46Speaker 3: You know, she's a complete accident. But her firing off
- 22:50Speaker 3: that block or whatever it was in her front yard
- 22:55Speaker 3: just willy nilly into the night shooting.
- 22:58Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, lady with a gun.
- 23:01Speaker 2: No, not a.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Good idea, Not a good idea.
- 23:04Speaker 2: And I love that. Patty's like, I told you to
- 23:06Speaker 2: take a class, And I was like, yes, that's something.
- 23:09Speaker 1: You would say.
- 23:09Speaker 3: You would have taken that class absolutely several yes, yes,
- 23:14Speaker 3: a plus.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Student in guns, thank you.
- 23:18Speaker 3: I'd be like, I played I know guns. I played
- 23:21Speaker 3: Duck Hunt on Callecovision. I know what's cook click click,
- 23:24Speaker 3: I got this.
- 23:25Speaker 1: No, but poor poor Marylyn. And the fact that, like
- 23:29Speaker 1: then Patty was like, keep this handkerchief, yeah, to remind
- 23:34Speaker 1: you of what you did. It's like, okay, it was
- 23:36Speaker 1: an accident.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Total accident. She loves her cat so much.
- 23:42Speaker 2: She thought her cat was getting mutilated by a coyote.
- 23:45Speaker 2: I'd probably go out shooting too, you know, but I.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Want to know how Marylyn, like we know that. Okay,
- 23:53Speaker 3: So Alice and Brett live I'm guessing in the gross
- 23:56Speaker 3: Pointe Park apartment area, right, yeah, Marylyn is called the
- 24:00Speaker 3: cabbage Patch. Yeah, okay, right, the cabbage patch, which I've
- 24:03Speaker 3: had I'm sure.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Did you ever live in the cabbage Patch?
- 24:05Speaker 2: No, my brother and his wife did. That was like
- 24:08Speaker 2: where they first lived when they got married.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Okay, I did. I lived there on Beaconsfield and two
- 24:13Speaker 3: different apartments, and then on Trombley. But I'm thinking if oh,
- 24:19Speaker 3: that would make sense, I mean, I don't know, because
- 24:21Speaker 3: when I lived on Trombley, that was a kind of
- 24:22Speaker 3: a nicer.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Area of the cabbage patch.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Yes, but because it was closer in Because I'm thinking,
- 24:28Speaker 3: how would her dog get over to that nice house,
- 24:31Speaker 3: because she's definitely more in the city.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Than totally totally.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Maybe she's just in a nicer area of the park.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that could be because it was to that distance.
- 24:41Speaker 2: In real Gross Point geography, it would be too far
- 24:43Speaker 2: for the dog to be wandering, right, So you know
- 24:46Speaker 2: we have a problem there that we know the GP
- 24:49Speaker 2: geography too well, so.
- 24:50Speaker 3: We know and then but also it's they can't establish
- 24:55Speaker 3: they could not establish early on that the dog has
- 24:58Speaker 3: a wandering spirit, because then we would have been like, oh,
- 25:02Speaker 3: we would.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Have seen that coming.
- 25:04Speaker 4: So yes, yes, that's true.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but it was yet another twist here because I
- 25:08Speaker 2: really thought the last few episodes that we were leading
- 25:11Speaker 2: up to, I mean, the whole reason this, this murder accidental
- 25:15Speaker 2: murder happens is because I.
- 25:16Speaker 4: Thought Patty killed the dog.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:18Speaker 2: So it was like such a reveal that it was
- 25:21Speaker 2: Marilyn of all people. But you know, I thought, Alice
- 25:26Speaker 2: says in that moment to Marilyn. They have this moment,
- 25:29Speaker 2: this talk where Marilyn admits that she's the one who
- 25:32Speaker 2: killed the dog, and Alice is like, you have no
- 25:35Speaker 2: idea how different things would be.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Yeah, if you had just.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Told me that, I was like, we got a dead
- 25:43Speaker 2: man in a compost, Ben now.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Wrapped in a quilt that you will never see.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Just tell me where the quill is already. Alice.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Oh, she is like such a great character. Her and
- 25:58Speaker 3: that investigative like home. What was the name of that
- 26:01Speaker 3: show with Claire Danes, Like Homeland or something like that.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Yes, yes, Homeland, Yeah it was it called Homeland.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Okay, And there they've got like the board up with
- 26:10Speaker 3: all the different things, and Donna is like eating them
- 26:12Speaker 3: up and she's like, we're not on.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Break, Donna. They're trying to find where the quilt was kidnapped.
- 26:19Speaker 4: I love to nay kidnapped. You're right, the kidnap.
- 26:23Speaker 2: I forgot about these springs and oh my gosh, it
- 26:26Speaker 2: was a perfect mind meets homeland and.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Like, yeah, perfect mine.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Okay, but then we have oh yeah, a beautiful I
- 26:35Speaker 3: understood exactly what you're saying. You well, when we discover that, wait,
- 26:42Speaker 3: what was I gonna say? Uh? Oh, I know, because
- 26:48Speaker 3: we didn't last week, we didn't do our podcast. We
- 26:51Speaker 3: actually we did. Okay, let's just call it what it is.

- 28:34Speaker 3: we are back talking Gross Point Guarden Society. I'm with
- 28:37Speaker 3: Megan Grano. Last week, Megan and I recorded an episode
- 28:43Speaker 3: covering episodes eleven and twelve. And this hasn't happened since
- 28:49Speaker 3: I started podcasting. But because of the way that my
- 28:52Speaker 3: system is set up, and long story short, the record
- 28:56Speaker 3: button wasn't hit and.
- 28:59Speaker 1: None of it was recorded.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Yeah, moment of silence for that amazing episode. M thank
- 29:07Speaker 3: you so and then so here we are having to
- 29:11Speaker 3: kind of go back. But Megan, you were talking about,
- 29:13Speaker 3: like last week how much you loved eleven and twelve
- 29:16Speaker 3: and like the Monaco party, the discovery that Patty is
- 29:19Speaker 3: from gros Eel.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Oh my god, I love that.
- 29:23Speaker 2: And how they're always hanging it over this poor lady's
- 29:27Speaker 2: head like you're not from here.
- 29:30Speaker 4: It's just brutal, and I feel like very real.
- 29:34Speaker 3: I like it, Yeah, because that's what wasn't Marilyn holding
- 29:37Speaker 3: that over her head? Yeah, she was like, now we're
- 29:39Speaker 3: even because she helped her bury the dog or whatever,
- 29:42Speaker 3: and yes, but then by the end she was like,
- 29:45Speaker 3: I'm from Grociel, proud right, yeah.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Yeah, And the thing is for people who may not know,
- 29:51Speaker 2: Grociel is a beautiful community, huge homes, beautiful area. But
- 29:56Speaker 2: it's like an isle.
- 29:58Speaker 4: Yeah, an isle a gross eye island. Big island is
- 30:01Speaker 4: the French translation.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Okay, I love it when you speak French, but.
- 30:07Speaker 4: This it's just gross. Pointers feel very much like but
- 30:09Speaker 4: it's not gross point.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Right, just because as a gross and it doesn't mean
- 30:13Speaker 1: it's the point. It's the it's the e.
- 30:16Speaker 3: But no, I remember going there, like my friend's grandmother
- 30:18Speaker 3: had a place there and it was so awesome and
- 30:20Speaker 3: so beautiful. She had a huge trampoline. We'd be there
- 30:22Speaker 3: in the summer. It's just lovely, jump in, just jumping
- 30:27Speaker 3: into our you know, our puberty.
- 30:31Speaker 4: Bouncing away into those hormones. Just a great time.
- 30:38Speaker 1: So that that was always fun.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Now the blackmail of the PIU showing up and taking
- 30:46Speaker 3: pictures and being like, so.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Yeah, what a creep I mean, I'm like, this guy
- 30:53Speaker 2: is so creepy and just what another fun moment, Like
- 30:56Speaker 2: I thought, as he's trying to bribe them and get
- 30:59Speaker 2: this money, This was one of my favorite scenes that
- 31:01Speaker 2: he's like they're trying to who's gonna give it first?
- 31:05Speaker 2: Like are you gonna give me the money or am
- 31:06Speaker 2: I gonna give you the pictures in the sim card?
- 31:08Speaker 2: And they can't decide. They sort of like he grabs
- 31:11Speaker 2: the money out of her.
- 31:12Speaker 5: Hands and shakes it open and Bertie's filled it with
- 31:15Speaker 5: puzzle pieces, which is just I loved, I loved, And
- 31:19Speaker 5: then so I'm like already laughing, and then he falls
- 31:22Speaker 5: over and has a heart attack, and I'm.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Like, this scene is I've ever just kissed to the
- 31:27Speaker 3: heart attack?
- 31:28Speaker 1: And then them being like, ah, do we.
- 31:33Speaker 3: A're you gonna like fully embrace being bad? Or and
- 31:37Speaker 3: then cut to like they did do CPR And now
- 31:40Speaker 3: he's in the hospital and the daughter's like, thank you.
- 31:42Speaker 3: You guys are angels. I fucking hate him, yes, but
- 31:46Speaker 3: like he is an angel. And I was like, she's
- 31:50Speaker 3: dealing with some stuff.
- 31:51Speaker 1: You know, she's complessed, she's grateful.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Yeah, she's like, you know, it sounds like she's never
- 31:58Speaker 2: had a picture with him in her life or something
- 32:00Speaker 2: like that. I think she mentioned she you know, she
- 32:02Speaker 2: has no real fond memories. But he's offering to pay
- 32:05Speaker 2: for her college. So I think that brings out some
- 32:09Speaker 2: moment of forgiveness.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yes, yes, and that's why.
- 32:13Speaker 2: He was bribing them. He was bribing them to pay
- 32:15Speaker 2: for her college. He had good motives. Everybody has good motives.
- 32:17Speaker 2: It just goes awry.
- 32:19Speaker 1: It goes awry.
- 32:20Speaker 3: But yeah, at the end of it, at the end
- 32:21Speaker 3: of the day, I like that it has it. They
- 32:24Speaker 3: keep it within the confines of you still are gonna
- 32:29Speaker 3: like people in this show, you know, yes, yes, and
- 32:32Speaker 3: the dark. I think that the dark comedy is a
- 32:36Speaker 3: great way to make all of this work. It with
- 32:41Speaker 3: the background of like a garden. It's just it's fantastic.
- 32:44Speaker 2: It is it is and just a high level like
- 32:47Speaker 2: how everyone One of the things they nailed on this
- 32:49Speaker 2: show is just how concerned everyone is with their appearance.
- 32:53Speaker 2: One of my favorite lines in this is in that
- 32:55Speaker 2: Marilyn and Patty moment when the when the dog dies
- 32:58Speaker 2: and she's like, I need your help. You know, buzz
- 33:02Speaker 2: is running for reelection from may or. I can't have
- 33:04Speaker 2: this dead dog on the It could ruin his reelection.
- 33:07Speaker 2: This could be the chap equittic of gross point. And
- 33:10Speaker 2: I was like, that's an incredible line, that's right, Oh
- 33:16Speaker 2: so good, so good.
- 33:18Speaker 4: Nobody wants their gross point image tarnished with a murder.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Oh gosh, no, Oh my gosh, are you crazy? I
- 33:26Speaker 3: loved all the parties. The Monaco party looked amazing. Yes,
- 33:31Speaker 3: And obviously I hope we get to the real spectacular
- 33:34Speaker 3: because that is certainly, you know, that's where we want
- 33:37Speaker 3: to go. And I do want to mention that I
- 33:40Speaker 3: appreciate as we wrap this up. Is there anything else
- 33:46Speaker 3: that you want to say about like the last few
- 33:49Speaker 3: episodes in the finale before I wrap it up.
- 33:52Speaker 4: I do want to know.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Is I hope again we get another season of this
- 33:56Speaker 2: because I want to know where the Connor Melissa Brett
- 34:00Speaker 2: storyline ends up, because we left it in this episode
- 34:04Speaker 2: where I don't know if Brett is going to be
- 34:07Speaker 2: with Alice, you know, I don't know where that whole
- 34:10Speaker 2: relationship stands, and Melissa is divorcing Connor and they Connor
- 34:16Speaker 2: has the scene with Brett at the bar where he
- 34:17Speaker 2: keeps calling him Champ, which just cracked me up. That
- 34:20Speaker 2: was so obnoxious. I was like, oh, stop calling him Champ,
- 34:23Speaker 2: and Brett's like, please stop calling me. But I was like,
- 34:27Speaker 2: I want to know who's going to end up with who.
- 34:29Speaker 2: It's so yeah, I'm really curious about that relationship, right.
- 34:32Speaker 3: I also am glad that we saw the arc of
- 34:35Speaker 3: what's very relatable with Melissa holding custody over Brett's head
- 34:40Speaker 3: out of just spite.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Yes, it's very relatable.
- 34:43Speaker 3: It happens so often more times than we could, you know,
- 34:46Speaker 3: shake a stick at and for her to you know,
- 34:50Speaker 3: reel that back in and then make the right choice was.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Really nice to see so happy, Yeah, you don't.
- 34:57Speaker 3: Want to see that happen, and her being like I
- 35:00Speaker 3: want full custody and then I want to go back
- 35:02Speaker 3: to work and I'm like, well then who's going to
- 35:04Speaker 3: take care of the kids? Why I want full custody?
- 35:06Speaker 3: That doesn't answer, and I want a divorce, and so
- 35:09Speaker 3: that was nice. Yeah, Connor bye bye.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Kind of feel bad for that guy, but what are
- 35:19Speaker 1: you gonna do?
- 35:19Speaker 3: I love that he got kicked out of that bar
- 35:21Speaker 3: because he had been drinking too much and the guy
- 35:24Speaker 3: was like all right, pal, and it's like he just
- 35:27Speaker 3: that is I mean, you know, that's a gross point kickout.
- 35:31Speaker 1: That is not a Detroit kickout. That is not an
- 35:34Speaker 1: l a kickout.
- 35:34Speaker 3: We you know balanced you you've had too much to drink.
- 35:38Speaker 3: He was just a gentleman. He was lovely, you know
- 35:41Speaker 3: what I mean. And he just swaggered on out, I
- 35:43Speaker 3: mean that is.
- 35:45Speaker 4: And probably got in his car and drove home a.
- 35:50Speaker 1: One hundred.
- 35:53Speaker 4: Yeah he was. That was a real gross Point throwout,
- 35:56Speaker 4: no doubt about it. No crashing through windows.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Nobody getting ejected out the back door into a dumpster,
- 36:01Speaker 2: just like alrighty then ah right, And.
- 36:05Speaker 3: He was like, indeed, I will, I will show myself
- 36:07Speaker 3: out like no no resistance. But as we wrap up
- 36:13Speaker 3: this this season of gross Point Garden Society, Megan and
- 36:18Speaker 3: I both just reflect on our superlatives from high school
- 36:23Speaker 3: that got us to where we are to where we
- 36:25Speaker 3: can talk about this type of stuff. So Megan was
- 36:31Speaker 3: then I.

- 36:51Speaker 1: his name, I find it.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Yeah, and also honorable mention to my own self for
- 36:58Speaker 3: being the homecoming queen.
- 37:01Speaker 1: These are the.
