- 0:01Hey. Everybody, welcome to the Good
- 0:03Morning from the Chicken Coop podcast.
- 0:05My name is Kim Johnson and I am a mastermindset, coach, creative
- 0:08strategist, and also happen to be a farmer.
- 0:11This is my Chicken coop and I come out here.
- 0:13Every day to record a podcast. To teach distinctions,
- 0:17possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring some.
- 0:20Joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the rainy chicken coop again on
- 0:30the weekend raining. And I would sit there normally
- 0:33and have this like, oh man. And I would get all upset.
- 0:37But since we are talking today about this exact thing for this
- 0:42exact reason, it's like, what else could it mean?
- 0:44What else could the rain mean? So clearly we don't need rain
- 0:48because we got 10 inches of rain last weekend and our whole yard
- 0:51was completely flooded, as was the neighbors and everybody
- 0:54elses. Our pond grew to this enormous
- 0:57size. 10 inches of rain in one day does not mean that we need
- 1:01rain. However, I'm sitting here and
- 1:04I'm looking and I'm going, OK, well, what else could it mean?
- 1:06What else could the rain mean today?
- 1:08Could it mean it's going to they hopefully it's not going to be
- 1:10all day, The weather man saying it's just going to be showers.
- 1:13So I looked at that and I said, OK, I'm not going to get myself
- 1:17like another weekend, not going to the beach another weekend,
- 1:20not doing something outside because of the weather, whether
- 1:23it's too hot or too rainy or whatever.
- 1:26And I what else could it mean? And for me, this meant, OK,
- 1:31maybe this is time to just slow down a little bit and say there
- 1:35are a few things that I've been wanting to teach myself using
- 1:39apps on on my computer that I have not used.
- 1:43And I like, I'm not a cap cut person, but I want to be a cap
- 1:47cut person. So I sat there and I thought
- 1:49about it and I said, well, what else could this mean?
- 1:50Oh, there's time. OK, well, there's time for what?
- 1:53There's time to look at the things that you want to do.
- 1:55Now I've got a couple of courses that I have to take some study
- 2:00time with anyway. And coming into September,
- 2:04that's when I usually load up my study time because it's going
- 2:09back to school and I'm wired for that.
- 2:11So I'm like, OK, I'm going to hit the hit the books on that
- 2:14stuff. However, this is one that kind
- 2:17of got thrown into the mix. Like how come I can't just do
- 2:20something on my own? How come I have to have somebody
- 2:23help me? And there's, there's something
- 2:25to be said for that mindset of, yes, you should leverage
- 2:29whenever you can to buy back your time.
- 2:33However, there are times when you're trying to do things that
- 2:36are creative and you can't do them if you leverage creativity.
- 2:41Like if that makes sense, Like I can get brainstorm with my
- 2:44friends. I can do certain things, I can
- 2:47sit with my coach and we can come up with all kinds of ideas.
- 2:50And yes, he can help me with lots of different things, but at
- 2:54some point, if I have a vision in my head and I have to get it
- 2:59out, I have to be the one that sits there and tries to get it
- 3:02out and tell the story of it, get it out so that they can see
- 3:05it. Just like when we were building
- 3:06out the farm, I had a vision for the house.
- 3:08I'm not an architect by any stretch of the means, and I
- 3:12wanted something simple and clean and classic.
- 3:15So I had to sit there and figure out how was I going to get that
- 3:18out of my head. And I kept looking at all these
- 3:21other plans I was cutting and pasting.
- 3:23I looked like a lunatic having all these cut and paste
- 3:26situations. And then I finally came up with
- 3:28something based on a combination of the sketch I did on a napkin
- 3:33originally, then a floor plan that I saw online that I cut up,
- 3:37pasted with three other floor plans.
- 3:39Then I pasted all the different outside looks that I had
- 3:43together. So I had a very clear
- 3:45understanding of what was in my head that I could share with the
- 3:49architect and which he was like, wow, OK, this is a big, huge
- 3:52help because now my vision transferred to his.
- 3:56So at some point we all have to take this responsibility and go,
- 3:59OK, let me just suck it up and do it.
- 4:01So that's what I have to do because there is sometimes when
- 4:04I, I want to shoot a video and I, I see what I want in my head
- 4:08and I can't necessarily translate that over and explain
- 4:12it well. So why shouldn't I have the
- 4:14skill? If I want to do it, I don't have
- 4:16to do it. I have AI have a person who does
- 4:18this for me. So it's not about being like,
- 4:22you know, oh, I'm doing it all by myself.
- 4:24It's about staying true to the vision and really kind of honing
- 4:27in on it. And sometimes that's hard
- 4:30because when you're a creative person, you see something a
- 4:32certain way. Like, nobody could have
- 4:34understood what I was talking about when I wanted a chicken
- 4:36coop with a tiled floor and, you know, all these accoutrements
- 4:41that I put in here for them. But guess what?
- 4:44And that vision keeps taking shape over time.
- 4:47And I have to keep doing it and doing it and doing it because if
- 4:50I don't do it, it's really hard. I mean, sure, I wanted these
- 4:54yellow boxes on the wall. I had to explain to my husband
- 4:57what they were. He built the boxes.
- 4:59I put them on the wall. He couldn't see it.
- 5:01He still doesn't see it. But I have yet to paint the
- 5:03mural because the the heat came in and I couldn't paint.
- 5:06So when we come into the fall, I will have time to be able to
- 5:09paint the mural. And then he'll be able to say,
- 5:11ah, OK, now I see the vision. But this is all about that.
- 5:14It's like sometimes you just have to pull back those reins
- 5:17and say, hey, stop, learn it yourself.
- 5:21Put it in place and say, OK, what else could this mean?
- 5:25I need to step in and do it. And I'm going to do it so I'm
- 5:28clear on my outcome. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:31you have a blessed day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:33Bye.
