- 0:00In the late 50s, a group of nine, Russian hikers went on a
- 0:03journey and to the harsh and icy Wilderness of the Soviet Union.
- 0:09None of them would come back alive.
- 0:12This strange happening still haunts the minds of many.
- 0:15As the details surrounding their deaths are shrouded in mystery
- 0:19as thick as a blizzard. Join us as we follow the
- 0:23chilling events of the dyatlov pass incident here on mystery
- 0:28archives. It was January 25th 1959, when
- 0:49Igor dyatlov and the fellow members of his party arrived by
- 0:53train. And I've Del a town in the
- 0:56northern regions of the Soviet Union.
- 0:59After disembarking, they took a truck to Voi Che the last
- 1:02inhabited settlement so far, north.
- 1:06The group was composed of eight men and two women.
- 1:09Most of whom were students are graduates of your old
- 1:12polytechnical Institute. Their mission was to embark on a
- 1:1614-day expedition to reach or toward a summit in the icy
- 1:20Wilderness whose native name means dead Mount.
- 1:24This expedition was classified as a category 3 which was
- 1:27considered the most difficult to complete and luckily all members
- 1:32were experienced and long ski hours and mountainous.
- 1:35Expeditions the group began hiking on January 27th, the next
- 1:40day. However, one of the members,
- 1:42Yuri, yudin was forced to turn back due to illness.
- 1:46You would have no idea that this would be the last time he sees
- 1:49companions among the living. The original plan of the dyatlov
- 1:54expedition was to send a telegram to their Sports Club
- 1:58when they return to vsj by the 12th.
- 2:01However, dyatlov told Yuri yudin that he suspected.
- 2:05They would take longer when the date passed and no message had
- 2:09been sent there. There wasn't an immediate
- 2:11reaction since delays on missions like this or not
- 2:14uncommon. It was only after the families
- 2:17of the group demanded a rescue operation, that the first group
- 2:20of volunteers students and teachers went out on February
- 2:23the 20th later on, police, and military would become involved
- 2:28in the search, and the discoveries that followed her.
- 2:31Of strange, that rumbles of speculation remain to this
- 2:35present day. The total number of men who
- 2:38participated in the search amounted to 120.
- 2:41The search was made difficult on account of the fact that Igor
- 2:44had not filed, the proper map or the rooh documentation prior to
- 2:48the trip, on February 25th, the ski Trail was found and on the
- 2:54very next day, the 10th used by the dyatlov group, was
- 2:57discovered, the 10 was in shambles with none of the Hikers
- 3:02to be found and stranger. Still, the sides had been cut
- 3:06from the inside the official report, stated the nature and
- 3:11form of all Cuts, suggest that they were formed by contact with
- 3:14the canvas, inside the tent with the blade of some weapon.
- 3:17Presumably a knife on the morning of the 27th.
- 3:22Rescuers found the bodies of Yuri doroshenko and Eureka's.
- 3:26A fog machine go near a cedar tree with broken branches and
- 3:30the remains of a fire. Searchers would discover the
- 3:33bodies of more hikers. The next day, including dyatlov
- 3:37himself, a fifth, hiker would be found on March, the 5th.
- 3:41And the remaining four would not be found until months later with
- 3:45the winter snow. Did thought enough to review the
- 3:47bodies though it is tragic that these hikers lost their lives.
- 3:51The findings of the search and autopsies of the bodies, have
- 3:55only served to deepen the mystery piecing, together a
- 3:59potential Narrative of events It's from diary and journal
- 4:02entries, along with the evidence present near the campsite has
- 4:06yielded, the following the hikers, reach the mountain of
- 4:10khoya to cycle on the first of February, leaving a Depot
- 4:14supplies near the foot of the slope, they ascended and set up
- 4:18camp. As the weather conditions.
- 4:20Lowered visibility, something went horribly wrong on the 2nd
- 4:25and the middle of the night, the group cut, open the tent and
- 4:29Hike single-file downhill towards the woods and their
- 4:32pajamas and away from the supply cached, they left near the
- 4:36mountain once there. Some of them climbed up the
- 4:39trees, either to grab firewood or to try and spot the 10th.
- 4:44Some of them stayed to unsuccessfully start a fire and
- 4:48others tried to walk back to the 10 and all eventually succumbed
- 4:52to hypothermia. Others move deeper into the
- 4:55forest, where they fell into a ravine, sustaining heavy
- 4:59injuries and eventually dying as well.
- 5:03The events that led to their deaths is still unclear.
- 5:06What made the hikers? Leave the safety of their tent
- 5:08during a blizzard with little to no clothing and without Panic,
- 5:13the hikers were not exactly poorly armed.
- 5:16They had plenty of items like axes that they could have used
- 5:19for protection. The only thing that could have
- 5:22forced them out of the tent and into the Hours of the icy
- 5:25Wilderness would have been an immediate threat of death at the
- 5:28tent and an immediate threat of death that mere axes, or knives
- 5:33couldn't have stopped. Why were thick limbs broken off
- 5:36the cedar tree when dry branches were readily available for
- 5:40firewood and why was the fifth hiker found with head trauma?
- 5:44That can't be explained Away by accident or clumsiness?
- 5:48Why were some of the hikers articles of clothing found with
- 5:51radiation on them? Even after months of being
- 5:54exposed? Stu water.
- 5:56Why did the pilots refused to airlift?
- 5:58The bodies out of the Ravine and why did the corner lists the
- 6:01cause of death for the hikers? The movie as a compelling,
- 6:04natural force of Unknown Origin. There are many theories
- 6:10postulated to explain the fate of the dyatlov group ranging,
- 6:14from the bazaar to the unbelievable, the Abominable
- 6:17Snowman UFOs. And other Supernatural
- 6:21explanations have been put forward for the deaths of the
- 6:24hike. Hers.
- 6:25A man in charge of the dyatlov pass investigation named live
- 6:29ivanoff was forced to retract the statement he made.
- 6:33And 1959, his statement is the following We found that some of
- 6:39the young pine trees at the edge of the forest had burned marks.
- 6:43But those marks did not have a con eccentric form or some other
- 6:46pattern, there was no epicenter. This once again, confirmed that
- 6:51heated beams of a strong but completely unknown at least to
- 6:55US. Energy were directing their
- 6:57Firepower towards specific objects and this case people
- 7:02acting selectively another theory, put forth by author
- 7:07Alexia track eaten suggested that the three of the hikers
- 7:11were KGB agents on a mission to uncover a cell of CIA agents
- 7:16when something went wrong and the CIA agents killed the group
- 7:21The Strange issues such as radioactivity on the clothing
- 7:24have led some Credence to this idea but have not impressed
- 7:27those who were the friends of the dyatlov hikers, one of the
- 7:32more accepted theories as that of Katabatic wind also known as
- 7:37gravity went, this is a natural phenomena were high.
- 7:40Density are from higher. Elevation is carrying doubt,
- 7:43slopes by winds that can equal the force of a hurricane, the
- 7:48wind would have forced the hikers out of the tent with only
- 7:51a few seconds of warning. Maybe they cut their way out.
- 7:54Piled snow on top of the 10 and left a flashlight on top of the
- 7:58site and calmly walk, downhill to the tree line to await better
- 8:02conditions only dressed in their Their pajamas.
- 8:05They all would have succumbed to the elements.
- 8:08However, while this may explain some of the mystery, it does not
- 8:12cover all the questions. This Enigma poses.
- 8:16The mystery of what really happened to the detox.
- 8:18Love group in 1959 is still alive in the hearts and minds of
- 8:22many, who find their story tragic, and fascinating, the
- 8:27absence of certain answers within the investigation along,
- 8:30with conflicting accounts on behalf of The Rescuers has
- 8:33sparked speculation, movies, books and TV shows of all
- 8:39attempted to give their own explanations but fact-based and
- 8:43Sensational. However, it is an important.
- 8:46Important note that behind this Enigma is the very real loss of
- 8:49nine, human lives all. But one of the hikers died in
- 8:53their early 20s with Simon sole author of being the oldest a 38,
- 8:58they all had dreams friends and family.
- 9:01They left behind on that fateful day.
- 9:04In February. We may never truly know what
- 9:08claimed the lives of these nine men and women but we can
- 9:10certainly keep their memory alive in the stories.
- 9:13We tell about The last entry in Igor dyatlov, his diary reads.
- 9:19We're exhausted the starting to settle up for the night.
- 9:23Firewood is scarce. Most lead a, we build the
- 9:27campfire on the logs too, tired to dig a fire pit.
- 9:32Dinners in the tent. Nice and warm, can't imagine
- 9:35such Comfort on the ridge, with howling wind outside.
- 9:39Hundreds of kilometers away from human settlements.
- 9:46But what do you think, has the dyatlov pass incident?
- 9:49Incident been solved or is there more to be discovered?
