- 0:03Speaker 2: Okay, here we go where the.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Plays get broken down and science gets denied to.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Come off the bench.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench Live from the Raising
- 0:12Speaker 1: Kine Studio.
- 0:45Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in ot b Our number two
- 0:49Speaker 3: of course again. Our Monday show is brought to you
- 0:51Speaker 3: byur friends over Buy You Automotive, Jake Flennelandro Luke and
- 0:56Speaker 3: Braxton all here with you. Football see is upon us
- 1:01Speaker 3: always talked about once you get home from media days,
- 1:03Speaker 3: you shut the door, you lock it, you throw away
- 1:06Speaker 3: the key. And well NFL teams actually are doing that
- 1:10Speaker 3: because they're in training camp.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a couple of teams that are already in camp.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I head out Wednesday to go to Chargers camp on
- 1:16Speaker 3: Thursday and Friday. I'm gonna spend a couple of days
- 1:19Speaker 3: out there looking forward to that, and then the old
- 1:22Speaker 3: training camp tour starts the next week.
- 1:25Speaker 4: And there's already been teams though that have been in camp.
- 1:28Speaker 4: One of those, yeah, who drew.
- 1:30Speaker 2: The short straw this year and got the Hall of
- 1:32Speaker 2: Fame game. Oh yeah, I thought.
- 1:36Speaker 3: The Chargers were going to get it. I think it's
- 1:39Speaker 3: Carolina and Arizona.
- 1:40Speaker 2: It's gotta be the two that already started.
- 1:42Speaker 4: I think it's Carolina and Arizona.
- 1:43Speaker 3: But there's more than like more than just those teams,
- 1:46Speaker 3: because there's still some teams that bring the rookies in first,
- 1:48Speaker 3: like I think Seattle did that, like the rookies are
- 1:51Speaker 3: in first. But I think Carolina and Arizona. I think
- 1:54Speaker 3: those are the two teams we're trying to think. I
- 1:57Speaker 3: think Luke Keikley got in from Carolina? Who got it
- 2:00Speaker 3: from Arizona? Because typically it's like two teams that got
- 2:02Speaker 3: a player in the Hall of Fame.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Was fits this year? Either way, cal.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Who else from the Cardinals is going to make the
- 2:11Speaker 2: Hall of Fame.
- 2:14Speaker 3: That didn't already make it like Kurt Warner like, but
- 2:16Speaker 3: he made it more like I guess the Rams hurt. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 3: it is Carolina and Arizona. So that's who it is,
- 2:22Speaker 3: and that is going to be on the what sixth
- 2:26Speaker 3: I believe. So, I mean we're a couple of like
- 2:28Speaker 3: a week away, I'm having a football game, real life,
- 2:31Speaker 3: actual pads to the whole deal. There's not as many
- 2:36Speaker 3: like quarterback battles in the NFL really that we typically
- 2:40Speaker 3: talk about. I think Cleveland obviously, like top of mind
- 2:44Speaker 3: is like the one. And I don't know if y'all
- 2:46Speaker 3: saw this. Jerry Judy, he was on like an Instagram
- 2:51Speaker 3: live or something. They're asking him, who's who's the quarterback
- 2:53Speaker 3: going to be? Who should it be? He wouldn't say,
- 2:55Speaker 3: but he held up for like, Okay, what you're saying
- 2:58Speaker 3: so and for is DeShawn Watson?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:01Speaker 3: No, And I mean honestly, like that shouldn't be that
- 3:08Speaker 3: big of a surprise.
- 3:10Speaker 5: No, it's not a surprise at all. Yeah, I mean
- 3:14Speaker 5: he paid him what two hundred fifty million dollars. Yeah,
- 3:18Speaker 5: and you got to get something and like that, once
- 3:21Speaker 5: upon a time he was like the next best thing.
- 3:24Speaker 5: I mean, the Saints wanted him bad. He was the
- 3:27Speaker 5: next best thing in the NFL. I mean that's why.
- 3:29Speaker 5: I mean, sure they overpaid him by a country mile
- 3:33Speaker 5: over there, but still he garnered that amount of money
- 3:36Speaker 5: because what he had done on the field in the NFL,
- 3:38Speaker 5: not because of what he did on the field at Colorado. Right,
- 3:43Speaker 5: So Shador had his moments last year, But to think
- 3:46Speaker 5: that he's gonna just walk in and beat out Deshaun
- 3:49Speaker 5: Watson out of the gate because because of what he
- 3:53Speaker 5: did last year or whatever it is. No, I think
- 3:55Speaker 5: there's more of a comfortability with putting the older guy
- 3:59Speaker 5: out there, and he hasn't played really any meaning for
- 4:03Speaker 5: football in a long time. But to think that any
- 4:08Speaker 5: of them are going to be like, really good is
- 4:11Speaker 5: probably probably an overstatement.
- 4:16Speaker 3: So last year, Shadir Sanders completed fifty six percent of
- 4:19Speaker 3: his passes through fourteen hundred yards, seven touchdowns, ten interceptions.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Dylan Gabriel completed fifty nine percent of his passes through
- 4:28Speaker 3: for nine to thirty seven, seven touchdowns, two interceptions.
- 4:33Speaker 4: So those are the young players on their team.
- 4:35Speaker 3: But Deshaun Watson, with the contract, with the experience that
- 4:39Speaker 3: he has, you know, probably should be the quarterback. But
- 4:43Speaker 3: that's the only Like I'm sitting here and I'm thinking,
- 4:45Speaker 3: because Jacoby Brissett reworked his contract, so he's going to
- 4:49Speaker 3: be the starter in Arizona.
- 4:51Speaker 5: Like Minnesota's a technically a quarterback battle, but I think
- 4:56Speaker 5: that's probably kind of an illusion. That's going to be
- 4:58Speaker 5: Kyler Murray unless something happened, unless he just goes out
- 5:02Speaker 5: in place really bad. This isn't one of those things
- 5:04Speaker 5: where if JJ plays a little bit better than him.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Maybe statistically in preseason he'll be the starter. No, it's
- 5:10Speaker 5: going to be like he's got to look bad. JJ's
- 5:13Speaker 5: got to look unbelievable to do that. You bring Kyler
- 5:16Speaker 5: Murray in for a reason, and that's that's the reason
- 5:19Speaker 5: he's going to be the quarterback. But they're going to
- 5:21Speaker 5: create the illusion of a quarterback battle certainly, and I'm
- 5:29Speaker 5: those are the only battles, all.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Right, So you can kind of go down the list
- 5:33Speaker 3: like Vegas, all right, Kirk Cousins, Mendoza, Kirk, I should
- 5:39Speaker 3: be Cousins until Mendoz is ready, so that's not really
- 5:41Speaker 3: a battle.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Yeah, why else do you bring Kirk in? Yeah, that's
- 5:43Speaker 5: why you bring him in and pay him.
- 5:46Speaker 4: You kind of look around the.
- 5:47Speaker 3: League, Atlanta, maybe Michael Pennock Junior to a tongue of Bailoa,
- 5:52Speaker 3: Michael Penick's still kind of trying to get healthy, so
- 5:55Speaker 3: probably too gonna, you know, be the guy.
- 5:58Speaker 4: I would assume you.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Think Michael PENNOCKX junior will ever be able to stay healthy,
- 6:05Speaker 5: stay healthy pounder year.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I know.
- 6:09Speaker 5: It sucks to his ACL three extremely talented too. I
- 6:13Speaker 5: really liked his game coming out of college.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:15Speaker 5: I bought a bunch of cards of his as a
- 6:17Speaker 5: rookie because I liked his game, like the way he
- 6:20Speaker 5: threw the ball.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I thought he was really controlled. I thought he was
- 6:22Speaker 2: very poised.
- 6:23Speaker 5: I liked in college how he could go through his
- 6:26Speaker 5: progressions and stay on platform in the pocket. Liked how
- 6:30Speaker 5: he could add lib and make plays with his feet
- 6:33Speaker 5: when he needed to.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Man those injuries. Just I've caught up with.
- 6:38Speaker 6: Him, I mean, can stay healthy.
- 6:41Speaker 2: That's the most beat up quarterbackroom.
- 6:45Speaker 3: In twenty eighteen, Michael Pennock Junior tore his right ACL.
- 6:49Speaker 3: In twenty nineteen, he dislocated his shoulder. In twenty twenty,
- 6:53Speaker 3: he tore his right a CL again. In twenty twenty one,
- 6:57Speaker 3: he separated his shoulder again. Now this was his left one.
- 7:00Speaker 3: The first one was his right one. In twenty twenty
- 7:03Speaker 3: two and twenty three, he had no major injury when
- 7:06Speaker 3: he was at Washington. And then now he's torn his
- 7:09Speaker 3: ACL again in the NFL.
- 7:11Speaker 4: So again his right has left.
- 7:13Speaker 5: So he's done his right and so I think he
- 7:15Speaker 5: said in eighteen and twenty he tours right a CL.
- 7:18Speaker 4: I know he's I know he's torn. I think this
- 7:22Speaker 4: one was differently. This was his I think this was
- 7:24Speaker 4: his left left.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he has two on his right, one
- 7:27Speaker 3: on his left, one on each shoulder.
- 7:29Speaker 4: He separated the AC joint.
- 7:31Speaker 6: That's crazy. He's literally just made a paper.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Those are like ones. Man A CL is tough like that's.
- 7:39Speaker 2: It's almost man like.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Bad lucks by telling you stop. I gets to tear
- 7:43Speaker 4: ACL three times, especially the same leg twice. Yeah, Oh
- 7:49Speaker 4: it's bad.
- 7:51Speaker 6: He dislocated each shoulder.
- 7:53Speaker 5: Yeah, and I tore stuff when you, yeah, separate and
- 7:58Speaker 5: his his left and tearing his left.
- 8:00Speaker 2: They cl last year.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Being a left handed thrower, that's like your push off
- 8:04Speaker 5: foot too, so that's a lot of that's a lot
- 8:07Speaker 5: of pressure and torque you do put on the interior
- 8:10Speaker 5: part of your leg. So it's a tougher recovery probably
- 8:14Speaker 5: for that leg than the other. Yeah, it sucks because
- 8:18Speaker 5: he's a talented guy. So but yeah, I would think of.
- 8:21Speaker 7: That impressing he's back and playing, especially after turning it twice,
- 8:25Speaker 7: because the recovery is different, the surgery is different. There's
- 8:27Speaker 7: different grafts you gotta do. Especially has a turn get twice.
- 8:31Speaker 5: You imagine twenty years ago if somebody tore their a
- 8:34Speaker 5: CL once usually it's a career ender. Maybe not twenty,
- 8:37Speaker 5: maybe thirty, but twice for sure, three times.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean thinking about.
- 8:45Speaker 8: It's not over huh hopefully the honest not.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Over thinking about Patrick Mahomes. I mean just towards a
- 8:51Speaker 3: cl l CL in December and he's bad got cleared
- 8:54Speaker 3: for all team activities.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I was.
- 8:57Speaker 5: I was watching some of those clips yesterday of him
- 8:59Speaker 5: at practice because of course I was watching us, yea.
- 9:02Speaker 5: I was like, hey, Homes, like, you don't have to
- 9:04Speaker 5: tork so much, like you don't have to twist that
- 9:06Speaker 5: knee so much right now in these drop backs and
- 9:08Speaker 5: stepping up. Just get on her knee, throw it a
- 9:11Speaker 5: little bit but nusto good.
- 9:15Speaker 8: But yeah, justin fields too, huh.
- 9:17Speaker 5: So yeah, so they had There was a lot of
- 9:18Speaker 5: clips going around social media yesterday of like uh uh
- 9:22Speaker 5: my homestolen and then Fields and Thensmyer. Yeah, of course
- 9:27Speaker 5: Homes looks like Mahomes. No Smyer look great, fields not
- 9:31Speaker 5: the great, best mechanics, a little shouldery.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Yeah I wouldn't. I don't know.
- 9:40Speaker 4: It's shocked if no Smyer and.
- 9:43Speaker 8: You're trying to deal with into Brox and brother.
- 9:45Speaker 6: Yeah, maybe Field is.
- 9:49Speaker 5: It might be one of those situations where it's like
- 9:52Speaker 5: I could see Nus doing really well in trading camp
- 9:56Speaker 5: and impressing, maybe not enough to where he backs up
- 9:59Speaker 5: my what backs up my Homes like on a game day,
- 10:04Speaker 5: but like later on in the season, if Mahomes goes down,
- 10:07Speaker 5: he becomes the starter.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Because like Phel's you always kind of like that quarterback
- 10:12Speaker 5: as a backup, Like it's a weapon of a quarterback.
- 10:15Speaker 5: They can use their legs as a backup, as a
- 10:17Speaker 5: little change up or something. If something goes down, they
- 10:19Speaker 5: can least and.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Too, Like you know, Kansas City likes to have gadget stuff,
- 10:22Speaker 3: two point conversions, they let him draw it up short
- 10:24Speaker 3: yardage situations.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Just feels gonna have some stuff. Yeah, but to your point,
- 10:29Speaker 4: he might not.
- 10:29Speaker 3: You know, Nuts might not be the technical backup, But
- 10:32Speaker 3: if Mahomes went out for six games, you.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Gotta think he would be.
- 10:36Speaker 5: You gotta think Nuts will be at the beginning of
- 10:37Speaker 5: the year, because I would assume Fields would start the
- 10:40Speaker 5: first couple of weeks with Kansas. I mean, if my
- 10:44Speaker 5: home starts Week one, that's gonna be a credible he
- 10:48Speaker 5: will I don't want.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Him to though I know it's probably not smart, but.
- 10:52Speaker 2: I just don't want him to not because I don't
- 10:55Speaker 2: want to do because I want him to be healthy.
- 10:57Speaker 5: I want for us to watch one of the greatest
- 10:59Speaker 5: quarterbacks to ever play the game. I want to see
- 11:01Speaker 5: him play for a long time, and I don't want
- 11:03Speaker 5: him to go out and do something silly because he's
- 11:05Speaker 5: trying to get back for Week one.
- 11:07Speaker 2: It's a long season.
- 11:08Speaker 5: They've won the Super Bowl plenty of times where the
- 11:10Speaker 5: whole team didn't show up for the first seven or
- 11:12Speaker 5: eight weeks.
- 11:12Speaker 3: You know Mahomes though, And they're playing against the Broncos.
- 11:16Speaker 3: I believe it's Monday Night football, first Monday Night football
- 11:19Speaker 3: of the year against the team that won the division
- 11:23Speaker 3: last year in the Broncos. He's gonna want to play,
- 11:26Speaker 3: and I believe that game's in Arrowhead he's playing.
- 11:30Speaker 5: It's interesting that was the scheduling is interesting, the first
- 11:33Speaker 5: Monday Night football game of the year. They do schedule
- 11:36Speaker 5: the Chiefs when ESPN had to have known that there's
- 11:39Speaker 5: a chance Mahomes wouldn't play, like probably a really good
- 11:42Speaker 5: chance that wouldn't play, and they still chose that game.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Do you know who gets first choice every week, like
- 11:51Speaker 5: when they make the schedule, which network gets first choice?
- 11:54Speaker 2: Gosh.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Actually, I'm kind of like as the drafts right to
- 12:00Speaker 3: draft like a snake draft, like yes, fantasy football, Yes,
- 12:04Speaker 3: so it is that. And obviously, like once you start
- 12:08Speaker 3: getting talking about getting flex.
- 12:09Speaker 4: And different things, that kind of plays into it.
- 12:11Speaker 3: But yeah, like you get gets the flex game, you
- 12:13Speaker 3: get so many like picks.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Yes, in a draft, and so that's how you get
- 12:17Speaker 4: like the game of the week.
- 12:18Speaker 5: I would assume that ESPN does get a decent amount
- 12:21Speaker 5: like priority on their Monday Night Football picks. Yeah, they
- 12:23Speaker 5: don't get the flex Now you get bad matchups on money,
- 12:26Speaker 5: you get a lot of bad matchups. Yeah, but they
- 12:28Speaker 5: don't know that on the front end. No, And they
- 12:30Speaker 5: also know they have to spread it around a little bit.
- 12:32Speaker 5: They've got the most difficult job. Monday Night Football doesk
- 12:34Speaker 5: because they're going off what we think. Yeah, and so
- 12:37Speaker 5: at the end of the season, you can have two
- 12:39Speaker 5: losing teams. You can have the Jets Giants play each
- 12:41Speaker 5: other and they both got three wins in Week fourteen.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and then Amazon on Thursday.
- 12:45Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure they try to get every almost everybody, right,
- 12:48Speaker 5: they try to get most teams on Thursday, so their
- 12:52Speaker 5: job probably not quite as difficult. They're trying to pick
- 12:54Speaker 5: the best matchups, of course, but you know, you get
- 12:57Speaker 5: you get some stinkers in there. You get a Browns
- 12:59Speaker 5: Bengals game.
- 13:01Speaker 8: I think that they did last year.
- 13:02Speaker 7: I think last year from when I can remember all
- 13:04Speaker 7: the proms on game didn't really disappoint.
- 13:06Speaker 3: I hit a bunch of really good of how many
- 13:10Speaker 3: good ones they had from a year ago. God, I
- 13:12Speaker 3: can't work and too though, like some of that NFL
- 13:15Speaker 3: stuff as we all know, like I said, Jets and Giants,
- 13:18Speaker 3: that game might stink to us, but they know what
- 13:21Speaker 3: they're doing New York Market and then they're going to
- 13:24Speaker 3: get numbers or Cowboys Giants when they both aren't very good.
- 13:28Speaker 4: They know what they're doing.
- 13:29Speaker 3: So it's not great for you know, people trying to
- 13:32Speaker 3: get exciting teams trying to make the postseason, but it's still.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Going to do big numbers.
- 13:36Speaker 5: So I just can't wait for the noises just on
- 13:40Speaker 5: TV in the house in the background, waking up game
- 13:43Speaker 5: day noises in the morning, like Sunday evening, just like
- 13:48Speaker 5: having like the pregame stuff for the Night Game.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Oh care Bear, Carrie Underwood singing her songs be care Bear.
- 13:58Speaker 6: Okay, never call her that.
- 14:00Speaker 4: No, it's the first time ever.
- 14:01Speaker 3: You know, we're starting the season on a Wednesday night,
- 14:03Speaker 3: though not a Thursday night this year for the NFL.
- 14:06Speaker 3: So we get a Wednesday, a Thursday, a full slate
- 14:09Speaker 3: of Sunday and a Monday. On Wednesday night, it's gonna
- 14:13Speaker 3: be the Patriots at the Seahawks. So rematch of the
- 14:16Speaker 3: Super Bowl on a Wednesday night. September the ninth, Happy Birthday, Jackson.
- 14:22Speaker 4: And then Thursdays.
- 14:24Speaker 2: What's Happy Birthday, Hugson.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Oh, we don't know that. We just hugs September ninth. Okay,
- 14:36Speaker 4: Jackson is easiest.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Nine to nine O nine, yeah, even though nine.
- 14:42Speaker 4: And then you got on Thursday, which on Netflix.
- 14:47Speaker 3: The game's being played in Australia, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Great match up, awesome Australia.
- 14:56Speaker 2: What's the point really are we doing that?
- 14:58Speaker 4: That's gonna be on Netflix?
- 14:59Speaker 3: Then and you got a full Sunday slate and then
- 15:02Speaker 3: Sunday Night game is a Giants classic.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Those two takes place seventeen times a year. You can't
- 15:10Speaker 4: at least otherwise all on Sunday.
- 15:13Speaker 3: The Eagles in there somewhere, and then again we said
- 15:16Speaker 3: you got Denver in Kansas City on Monday night.
- 15:18Speaker 5: So yeah, the whole Australia thing really pisses me off.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Like it's that game.
- 15:26Speaker 4: That game. We don't need to share it with everybody, right,
- 15:28Speaker 4: we don't.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Have no you send of the of the games in
- 15:32Speaker 3: week number one. Let me see, send Miami at Vegas.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yeah, let them go. Let them go.
- 15:39Speaker 4: That's the game that goes to Australia, not the Rams
- 15:41Speaker 4: and forty.
- 15:43Speaker 2: It's the best.
- 15:44Speaker 5: Don't send anybody to Australia for that matter. Might be
- 15:47Speaker 5: the Raiders, like George Kittle was giving an interview this
- 15:50Speaker 5: summer about it, like you cannot preach to us like
- 15:52Speaker 5: you were talking out of the other side of your
- 15:55Speaker 5: mouth when you talk about player safety player health, like
- 15:58Speaker 5: we want to keep these players healthy. It's in the
- 16:01Speaker 5: collective party, Groment. That's why you have an NFL PA.
- 16:05Speaker 5: But then you're gonna send somebody halfway across the world
- 16:08Speaker 5: to play a football game, and you're traveling, and it
- 16:12Speaker 5: is not good for players safety to do that, To
- 16:14Speaker 5: do all that traveling to play a game and travel all.
- 16:18Speaker 2: The way back. It's not good for you, not good
- 16:20Speaker 2: for the body.
- 16:21Speaker 3: No, I don't know, not right out of the gates
- 16:23Speaker 3: like that, Like you got to kind of callish your
- 16:25Speaker 3: body a little bit if you want to do that.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Week eight, give them a bye week. I don't love
- 16:28Speaker 3: it then, but I understand it better than week one.
- 16:32Speaker 3: And look, I love trying to grow the game. It's
- 16:35Speaker 3: better for the players and so like the next wave
- 16:37Speaker 3: and you're gonna have international fame and all that kind
- 16:39Speaker 3: of stuff too. But there's a big difference between you know,
- 16:43Speaker 3: the Buffalo Bills flying to London and these teams on
- 16:47Speaker 3: the West Coast flying.
- 16:48Speaker 4: To Australia the last time, completely different flight.
- 16:50Speaker 3: It's a London's a different ocean flows like a five
- 16:53Speaker 3: hour flight.
- 16:55Speaker 4: This is it's gonna be a.
- 16:57Speaker 5: It's like an eighteen nineteen twenty hour flight something like that.
- 17:01Speaker 5: And last time I checked, I hadn't been there, so
- 17:04Speaker 5: I can't say firsthand experience. But I think Australia has televisions.
- 17:10Speaker 6: Their toilets go backwards.
- 17:12Speaker 4: They can just watch the game. You want to grow
- 17:15Speaker 4: the game fleshes backwards.
- 17:16Speaker 8: Yeah, why did they do that?
- 17:19Speaker 6: Because they're on the other side of the We talked.
- 17:21Speaker 4: About this because they're yeah, they're upside down right now.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Oh, this is when US was playing Australia and soccer
- 17:28Speaker 3: I'm assuming.
- 17:28Speaker 5: Yeah, Yeah, talked a lot about it, how they lost
- 17:31Speaker 5: that war against the EMUs.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Oh I remember I got the picture over there. I
- 17:34Speaker 4: forgot I wasn't here. But yeah, they have televisions there.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Just grow the game with the television.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Or send a preseason game. Yeah, like think about like
- 17:46Speaker 4: so like EPL.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Teams in soccer, they're not going to send you know,
- 17:51Speaker 3: Manchester United and Liverpool and like Everton's coming to Houston
- 17:55Speaker 3: for a preseason game in.
- 17:56Speaker 4: A couple of weeks.
- 17:57Speaker 2: I believe they call those friendlies.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Yeah, not a big deal, big soccer head here.
- 18:04Speaker 3: All right, that's enough of us talking about NFL and
- 18:07Speaker 3: Australia because it ain't gonna change, but it is dumb.
- 18:10Speaker 4: We'll take a break more OTB when we come back
- 18:12Speaker 4: here live from the Raisin Kines studio.

- 19:17Speaker 5: gcop net dot com.
- 19:21Speaker 9: I remember when I remember, I remember when I lost
- 19:24Speaker 9: my man.
- 19:27Speaker 8: That was on the soup person about that place.
- 19:30Speaker 9: Even your emotions out an echo in so much space,
- 19:38Speaker 9: and when you're out there with out there, Yeah, out
- 19:41Speaker 9: was out all time.
- 19:44Speaker 10: But it wasn't because I didn't know.
- 19:49Speaker 6: I just knew too.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Does that make me craz.
- 20:11Speaker 10: Off?
- 20:11Speaker 1: The event with Hester and Flynn presented by Buyu Automotiveday.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Come on now, all right, welcome back in OTB talk
- 20:38Speaker 3: a little NFL last segment. Of course, the Saints are
- 20:41Speaker 3: going to report on Tuesday, July the twenty eighth, and
- 20:45Speaker 3: their first practice is going to be on Wednesday, July
- 20:48Speaker 3: twenty ninth, which is so report days tomorrow.
- 20:53Speaker 4: But you don't do.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Anything obviously, You just hey, what's going on, how y'all doing?
- 20:58Speaker 4: Has your family?
- 20:59Speaker 3: And then and then you you talk about how bad
- 21:00Speaker 3: it's gonna suck to be in training yep, and then
- 21:04Speaker 3: you start practicing on Wednesday. Training game is always fun.
- 21:07Speaker 3: It's like you're excited, you're happy to be there, but
- 21:10Speaker 3: you're like, man, I'm not gonna see my family for
- 21:11Speaker 3: like a month, and it's gonna be an absolute grind.
- 21:14Speaker 3: So it's like mixed feelings, but you are excited to
- 21:16Speaker 3: be there with your new teammates and you know, hit
- 21:18Speaker 3: refresh on what was a disappointing season for the New
- 21:22Speaker 3: Orleans Saints. Their first public practice is going to be
- 21:25Speaker 3: on July thirtieth, and that's gonna be from at nine
- 21:27Speaker 3: am and ten fifteen am. Of course, it's going to
- 21:31Speaker 3: be right there at the Oshner Sports Performance Center in Metri.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I'm gonna be there on August the thirteenth. Look forward
- 21:39Speaker 3: to that. You want to come down hang out.
- 21:43Speaker 2: For training camp.
- 21:44Speaker 4: We don't have to practice.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Oh, we can just walk around.
- 21:49Speaker 4: You know.
- 21:51Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure that we know a quarterback coach that
- 21:53Speaker 3: will let us like kind of like sit there credentials,
- 21:55Speaker 3: watch the quarterbacks throw.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Maybe he'll let me into broom watch a little thing.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I thought you did like to throw a ball.
- 22:02Speaker 3: I was like, you don't want to do it to yourself.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Not dominant, Tyler.
- 22:07Speaker 4: You're good, but.
- 22:09Speaker 5: The own competition you me Now? Yeah, thank god, just kidding.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Everybody relaxed.
- 22:19Speaker 3: So it is here for the again for the New
- 22:21Speaker 3: Orleans Saints. That is going to be Tomorrow is going
- 22:24Speaker 3: to be the reporting day. And we started talking about
- 22:26Speaker 3: the Falcons a little bit earlier, and obviously their question
- 22:28Speaker 3: marks at quarterback not the only team in the South
- 22:32Speaker 3: that's going to have question marks right now. The Carolina Panthers,
- 22:36Speaker 3: they've got their starting nose tackle, they're starting defensive end,
- 22:39Speaker 3: they're starting corner, they're starting right tackle, and they're starting
- 22:42Speaker 3: a left tackle or on the shelf. So the Carolina
- 22:45Speaker 3: Panthers are certainly being hit right now by the injury bug.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Now in the off season, they did sign Rashid Walker
- 22:52Speaker 3: from Green Bay and they drafted Monroe Freeling out of
- 22:54Speaker 3: Georgia in the first round, So they have good options
- 22:57Speaker 3: to try to step in there and the tackles until
- 23:01Speaker 3: their starters get healthy or if they don't get healthy,
- 23:03Speaker 3: they've got, you know, better options than most are going
- 23:06Speaker 3: to have. But certainly at nose tackle, Bobby Brown right
- 23:10Speaker 3: now being out, that means Lee Hunter, the young player
- 23:12Speaker 3: out of Texas Tech's gonna have to step up. And
- 23:14Speaker 3: so you're gonna be counting on a couple of rookies
- 23:16Speaker 3: there in Carolina, the team that did win the division
- 23:19Speaker 3: a year ago. And it's one of the things about
- 23:21Speaker 3: the NFC South that nobody really knows who's going to
- 23:25Speaker 3: do what, who's going to be who, who's going to
- 23:28Speaker 3: step up, who's going to take the next step, you know,
- 23:31Speaker 3: for quarterbacks alone, it's intriguing because we talked about the
- 23:35Speaker 3: Atlanta situation. We all assume that Tyler Shuck's going to
- 23:39Speaker 3: take a pretty big step next year. We go to
- 23:44Speaker 3: you know Carolina and Bryce you Young, and you know
- 23:47Speaker 3: Kenny Pickett's now his backup. Haines King's there as well.
- 23:49Speaker 3: But what you know is Bryce Young is there a ceiling?
- 23:51Speaker 3: Has he met his ceiling? Is this what he's going
- 23:53Speaker 3: to be? And then you got Baker Mayfield, who's he's
- 23:56Speaker 3: wanting a new contract. He deserves a new contract, man,
- 24:00Speaker 3: and he like he said, if we get to training
- 24:02Speaker 3: camp and I don't have one, we're not talking about
- 24:04Speaker 3: it again. So he's going to be motivated last year,
- 24:07Speaker 3: I think. So he's going to be motivated to play
- 24:09Speaker 3: for something. You know how when he's motivated, I think
- 24:11Speaker 3: that's his best version. Maybe that's their negotiation strategy, just
- 24:15Speaker 3: piss him off. But what if what if he goes
- 24:17Speaker 3: out there and balls outs, like sorry, guys, then you
- 24:19Speaker 3: pay him.
- 24:19Speaker 4: We're going somewhere else.
- 24:21Speaker 5: I mean, he's probably going to be asking for top
- 24:22Speaker 5: dollar anyway, whether he balls out this year or not.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 24:28Speaker 6: Yeah, he's a free agent. Vita Vea's one.
- 24:31Speaker 4: That's another one that they are trying to work with
- 24:33Speaker 4: right now.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Yeah. They also said if we get to camp, so
- 24:36Speaker 3: they don't have one, but they're like reporting. So it's
- 24:39Speaker 3: only thirty one years.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Old, babe.
- 24:40Speaker 10: Also Chris Godwin Junior, they could pick up his option
- 24:43Speaker 10: or he could be a free agent.
- 24:44Speaker 5: So what you're saying is if Bake, if we don't
- 24:46Speaker 5: hear any news on Baker Mayfield and like the next
- 24:50Speaker 5: couple of days, he's going to be an unrestricted free
- 24:53Speaker 5: agent at the end of this year. Is it accurate?
- 24:58Speaker 5: If what saying under if we don't hear anything in
- 25:02Speaker 5: the next couple of days is what you're saying, he's
- 25:04Speaker 5: going to be an unrestricted According to him.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Yes, this was weeks ago. He's like, I do not
- 25:10Speaker 3: what people about during the season. I don't want to
- 25:11Speaker 3: be a distraction. I want to focus on you know whatever.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Whatever.
- 25:15Speaker 6: So people said, y'all, y'all diabi.
- 25:18Speaker 10: He's also set to become a free agent at the
- 25:21Speaker 10: end of the season, and they asked him about it
- 25:22Speaker 10: and he's like, I don't care about my contract, just
- 25:24Speaker 10: get Bakers.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:28Speaker 5: Interesting Yeah, Baker seems like one of those guys that's
- 25:30Speaker 5: pretty well.
- 25:31Speaker 6: Loved by his teammates. Yeah for sure.
- 25:33Speaker 4: When you got another guy trying to get a contract
- 25:35Speaker 4: saying get him done, yeah, yeah. And two like it's
- 25:39Speaker 4: a slippery slope.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Like sometimes you know you're you know, a fan of
- 25:42Speaker 3: a team and you're like, oh, well, you know, we
- 25:45Speaker 3: don't want to pay him what they're paying that top
- 25:47Speaker 3: six quarterback. You gotta be careful what you wish for,
- 25:51Speaker 3: because Baker Mayfield right now is a very good option
- 25:54Speaker 3: for any team to be a quarterback. Like he's a
- 25:57Speaker 3: top fifteen quarterback, Like he's in the conversation. He's a
- 26:00Speaker 3: part of the conversation of guys that you feel incredibly
- 26:02Speaker 3: safe about and good with and you can move forward with.
- 26:05Speaker 3: And then like when you don't have it, and then
- 26:07Speaker 3: all of a sudden, you look up and Jacoby Brissett
- 26:09Speaker 3: and Carson Becker your options, you know.
- 26:12Speaker 2: What I mean, Yeah, it could happen, And it happens
- 26:14Speaker 2: in a blink.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Of the New York Jets, who have done a lot
- 26:17Speaker 3: of good this offseason. They really have draft defense. You
- 26:20Speaker 3: can look up and Geno Smith and k klubn it
- 26:23Speaker 3: can be your options.
- 26:24Speaker 6: Bro.
- 26:25Speaker 5: Yeah, so you got to think that Baker right now
- 26:28Speaker 5: is looking for about fifty to fifty five a year
- 26:31Speaker 5: and they should have been and that. Yeah, that's an
- 26:33Speaker 5: astonishing amount of money. It is, but that's the going
- 26:37Speaker 5: rate for a quarterback and kind of his his tier level.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Uh so.
- 26:42Speaker 5: Do we He's put this like self imposed deadline for
- 26:47Speaker 5: a training camp, like, hey, like, if we don't have
- 26:49Speaker 5: this deal done by then, then I'm just gonna play
- 26:52Speaker 5: it out. I'm gonna bet on myself. And I believe
- 26:54Speaker 5: that man that he's just gonna bet on himself. He's
- 26:56Speaker 5: played his whole career that way. He kind of lives
- 26:58Speaker 5: his life that way. He's cocky, but like in a
- 27:01Speaker 5: relatable way. He's very confident. That's why he's got everybody
- 27:05Speaker 5: in that locker room that loves him. So yeah, but
- 27:09Speaker 5: I don't understand why they wouldn't pay him because let's
- 27:12Speaker 5: just say he does go ball out. Okay, let's it
- 27:15Speaker 5: go from fifty to fifty five million a year to
- 27:17Speaker 5: what fifty five to sixty million? Right, it turns into that, Like,
- 27:21Speaker 5: so there's not that you know, even if he goes
- 27:25Speaker 5: out and balls out, like, there's not. He's been balling
- 27:28Speaker 5: out right like, there's not a big jump that he's
- 27:30Speaker 5: gonna make.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Right now, he's making thirty three. Yeah, he's got like
- 27:33Speaker 4: a thirty nine million dollar cap, so he's making thirty three.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Sam Darnold's making a little bit more, thirty three point five,
- 27:41Speaker 3: Daniel Jones is making forty four, Deshaun Watson's making forty six.
- 27:46Speaker 3: And then you get into Jalen Here's the fifty million
- 27:50Speaker 3: plus club, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, Jared Golf,
- 27:54Speaker 3: Brock Party, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence,
- 27:59Speaker 3: Matthew Stafford, and you have Dak Prescott and Patrick Mahomes
- 28:02Speaker 3: making sixty plus million per year. He deserves, I mean,
- 28:06Speaker 3: he's in that. He is the club that we're talking about.
- 28:09Speaker 5: Yeah, he is the sixteenth highest paid quarterback in the
- 28:11Speaker 5: NFL right now, which you know, where does he fall?
- 28:16Speaker 5: I mean he should probably fall around the tennis range, probably,
- 28:20Speaker 5: but it's all about timing with these contracts.
- 28:22Speaker 2: So I mean, he's he's gonna go.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Daniel Jones shouldn't be making eleven million dollars more than
- 28:26Speaker 3: Sam darn on a Baker Mayfield.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Very fair.
- 28:32Speaker 5: A Rod's making twenty two and a half m Lebron's
- 28:38Speaker 5: only making three.
- 28:41Speaker 2: He sucks.
- 28:46Speaker 4: You knew that Lebron signed to another team.
- 28:48Speaker 2: I did. I saw. I heard it on the radio.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Oh the way in.
- 28:54Speaker 5: I think I heard of the day it happened. It
- 28:56Speaker 5: happened right after the show. I think Friday. Yeah, it
- 28:59Speaker 5: was like it was like, yeah, it happened. When I
- 29:03Speaker 5: was driving from here to my office on Friday.
- 29:08Speaker 2: It happened.
- 29:08Speaker 6: Wait, where's he going? I can't tell what's real and
- 29:10Speaker 6: what's fake?
- 29:11Speaker 8: Sixers?
- 29:11Speaker 10: Okay, I thought so, because then like that Miami heat
- 29:15Speaker 10: thing happened where they were saying that they accidentally started
- 29:18Speaker 10: the live stream announcing that Lebron James was going to be.
- 29:24Speaker 4: I stayed far away from Lebron stuff.
- 29:26Speaker 6: I know. I don't really care about Lebron.
- 29:27Speaker 7: James and one of his I guess interviews, he was
- 29:30Speaker 7: saying like, trust the process, which is a huge hint
- 29:34Speaker 7: because one of the Sixers players nicknames is the process.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Oh well, then the whole time that they were tanking,
- 29:39Speaker 3: they're saying was trust the process, Like ten years or.
- 29:42Speaker 4: Eight years ago.
- 29:44Speaker 2: He did the opposite the fresh Prince opposite.
- 29:49Speaker 5: He went from they did not a big deal.
- 29:53Speaker 4: You've been thinking about that one.
- 29:54Speaker 2: I didn't come up with that myself.
- 29:55Speaker 4: I heard it.
- 29:57Speaker 5: He played your eyes, sided your work, kind of kind
- 30:02Speaker 5: of decided that it you know, it was sided.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Mhmm.
- 30:09Speaker 10: Anyway, I don't think Trevor Lawrence should be making more
- 30:12Speaker 10: money than Baker Mayfield.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Trevor had the you and Trevor had the one last.
- 30:18Speaker 10: Year explanation makes sense, But like, I just don't think
- 30:21Speaker 10: he should be pay Baker.
- 30:25Speaker 8: I just don't know.
- 30:26Speaker 6: Like the Bucks ownership, I don't know what they're like.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Is this real?
- 30:29Speaker 5: Is Geno Smith making three point three million this year?
- 30:33Speaker 5: That's what this list says.
- 30:34Speaker 4: He could be. Yeah, three point three million. Well good
- 30:42Speaker 4: for him.
- 30:45Speaker 2: They say it's a shoe fits.
- 30:50Speaker 5: Okay, what I do kind of want to talk about
- 30:52Speaker 5: what you think the ceiling for Bryce Young is.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Okay, we can take a break, continue talking a little
- 30:59Speaker 3: in a South. Talked about Atlanta earlier, Talk a little Carolina.
- 31:03Speaker 3: We just talked a little Bucks in their quarterback situation.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Talk Panthers. When we come back here on OTV, moster
- 31:11Speaker 3: are go to trash rangers dot Com. Trash rangers dot
- 31:14Speaker 3: com residential commercial trash pickup service.
- 31:18Speaker 4: Now the thing kind of sets them apart.
- 31:20Speaker 3: They're gonna send weekly text reminders to you letting you
- 31:22Speaker 3: know trash day is gonna be happening, and don't forget
- 31:25Speaker 3: to put out your can, so we don't want you
- 31:27Speaker 3: to sleeping on the couch. So they're gonna save you there. Also, right,
- 31:31Speaker 3: they are going to pick up on a holiday.
- 31:33Speaker 4: And what do I mean by that?
- 31:34Speaker 3: So if there's like a big national holiday, a lot
- 31:37Speaker 3: of companies just skip that week, they take that day off.
- 31:39Speaker 3: But guess what they'll pick up on Saturday to make
- 31:42Speaker 3: sure that your trash got picked up. Nobody else is
- 31:44Speaker 3: gonna have a service like that trash rangers dot com.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Sorry, trash Rangers.
- 31:47Speaker 5: Trash rangers dot com your most reliable trash removal and
- 31:50Speaker 5: waste removal service in all of Louisiana.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Yeah, we talked about the roll.
- 31:54Speaker 5: Off dumpsters, the commercial dumpsters, the trash can pick up
- 31:57Speaker 5: at your home. Well, how about the Sanitation department portable toilets. Yeah,
- 32:02Speaker 5: don't rely on those national companies for your for your
- 32:04Speaker 5: portable toilets. If you have a construction company, if you
- 32:06Speaker 5: got a project outside or maybe an event outside. Make
- 32:08Speaker 5: sure you're calling trash Rangers for those portable toilets. Trash
- 32:11Speaker 5: Rangers dot.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Com Off the Bench with Hester and Fly and presented
- 33:01Speaker 1: by Buyue Automotive.
- 33:20Speaker 4: What TV show is this song on?
- 33:23Speaker 6: I mean, it's probably something on the CW it suits.
- 33:28Speaker 5: It was like it was like a c It was
- 33:31Speaker 5: like a season finale episode plays and there's multiple, like
- 33:36Speaker 5: very dramatic things are happening at the end.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I mean your memory today is as good
- 33:41Speaker 3: as I've ever seen it.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 33:43Speaker 4: I know, because you're exactly all right.
- 33:44Speaker 3: It's like, here's Mike's situation, Here's Rachel's situation.
- 33:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:48Speaker 5: I felt like somebody was stepping out on somebody else
- 33:51Speaker 5: right now. Maybe not in the like a relationship, but
- 33:55Speaker 5: maybe from like a law firm relationship.
- 33:57Speaker 4: Something.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Louise was doing something crazy, dude, it's.
- 34:02Speaker 4: A good song. Who sings this all nation? Do they?
- 34:06Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 34:07Speaker 6: Or a wall?
- 34:07Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 34:10Speaker 2: Crazy?
- 34:12Speaker 10: I didn't know if it was good like a wall
- 34:14Speaker 10: like the military thing, or if it was like something else.
- 34:18Speaker 5: Are they going to come out in ten years and
- 34:20Speaker 5: be like, now.
- 34:25Speaker 6: They have another song, You're.
- 34:26Speaker 4: Not allowed to be a But I don't know you
- 34:29Speaker 4: have another one.
- 34:29Speaker 6: They have another one, though.
- 34:32Speaker 4: I told you. It's kind of leading to our Panther conversation.
- 34:36Speaker 4: Their GM. Dan Morgan said, I'm probably gonna call him Trevor.
- 34:41Speaker 2: That's his name.
- 34:42Speaker 6: Wait, who said that they loved Mickey Roman. I was like, okay, interesting, I'm.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Gonna be working doing yeah, Mickey like maybe like scouting
- 34:52Speaker 3: some players for him.
- 34:53Speaker 4: Okay, okay, all right, but uh, the.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Caroline Panther question was about Bryce Young, not about Trevor Etien.
- 35:03Speaker 3: As Dan Morgan said, he's calling him that Bryce Young
- 35:09Speaker 3: a year ago, I thought.
- 35:11Speaker 4: It was better.
- 35:12Speaker 3: He completed sixty four percent of his passes, those for
- 35:14Speaker 3: three thousand yards.
- 35:16Speaker 4: It was a lot of check down, Charlie, but he
- 35:19Speaker 4: took care of the football for the most part.
- 35:20Speaker 3: To you know what, he'd been doing twenty three touchdowns,
- 35:23Speaker 3: eleven interceptions, and you asked me the question about his ceiling.
- 35:27Speaker 3: I kind of think that's that's where it's at. He's
- 35:30Speaker 3: he's gonna be between the twenty and twenty five touchdowns,
- 35:33Speaker 3: he's gonna be between nine to fourteen interceptions. He's gonna
- 35:39Speaker 3: be between twenty eight to thirty two hundred yards. It's
- 35:43Speaker 3: gonna kind of be who he is.
- 35:47Speaker 5: He's a weird It's strange to watch him play because
- 35:51Speaker 5: at the beginning of the year last year, I was
- 35:53Speaker 5: watching him play and like he's They drove down the
- 35:56Speaker 5: field and he made like three or four and I'm
- 35:59Speaker 5: not gonna say like great throws, but operating the offense.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Finally the open guy. They were right.
- 36:04Speaker 5: Down on the goal line, and then he just threw
- 36:06Speaker 5: it right to a defender the next play. Now, interceptions happened.
- 36:09Speaker 5: Like there's plays that quarterbacks make that always look bad.
- 36:12Speaker 5: You're like, how did he not see them? Well, it's
- 36:15Speaker 5: it's really hard to play that position, So I get it.
- 36:17Speaker 5: Sometimes you're gonna make plays. Even the best quarterbacks make
- 36:20Speaker 5: plays that make you look down. He just he makes
- 36:23Speaker 5: He'll make some really good plays, and then it makes
- 36:25Speaker 5: some very elementary plays, like that was a huge brain fart.
- 36:29Speaker 5: You're in your fourth year, fifth year, whatever, you can't
- 36:32Speaker 5: do that anymore. But then a lot of these games
- 36:34Speaker 5: where he goes off and he does he plays really well.
- 36:39Speaker 5: You think back about how good he was at the
- 36:41Speaker 5: college level and what a you know, dynamic playmaker that
- 36:45Speaker 5: he was.
- 36:47Speaker 4: How has it not improved.
- 36:48Speaker 5: More in in Carolina, and you know, you could kind
- 36:53Speaker 5: of say the team, the organization, it's just it's not
- 36:56Speaker 5: the best.
- 36:59Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 36:59Speaker 5: I think that he's got a little bit more room
- 37:04Speaker 5: to improve. I think his ceiling's a little bit higher
- 37:06Speaker 5: than it was, and I think that he's had a
- 37:08Speaker 5: lot of improvement in me you kind of I think
- 37:11Speaker 5: the touchdown to interceception ratio has kind of been the
- 37:14Speaker 5: big situation on his NFL career in the past, and
- 37:17Speaker 5: he improved that by a decent amount this past year.
- 37:20Speaker 5: So I mean, we'll see how he can if he
- 37:21Speaker 5: can keep improving. I don't think it's like top fifteen
- 37:25Speaker 5: quarterback in the league ceiling, but I think it's.
- 37:27Speaker 4: A little bit higher than what it is.
- 37:28Speaker 3: He's the number one overall pick, so that kind of
- 37:30Speaker 3: comes with expectations. And he's also he's a shorter quarterback,
- 37:34Speaker 3: and for shorter quarterbacks to succeed, they have to be
- 37:38Speaker 3: like elite at like something. Yeah, they gotta be special, right,
- 37:41Speaker 3: And like Drew Brees was, he was gonna be incredibly accurate.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Baker Mayfield and his mentality and the way he makes plays.
- 37:49Speaker 4: Even Russell Wilson, the thing they.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Used to talk about was his deep ball, right, that
- 37:53Speaker 3: was his skill, like the one thing that he had, Like,
- 37:55Speaker 3: I just don't know what that is with Bryce.
- 37:57Speaker 5: Right, I put him in the same category a little
- 38:01Speaker 5: bit as CJ.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Stroud.
- 38:03Speaker 5: And the fact that there has never been conversation with
- 38:09Speaker 5: either one of those guys about a quarterback competition. Yeah,
- 38:13Speaker 5: they've always just been like the default guy and everyone
- 38:15Speaker 5: in the organizations like, yeah, that's our guy, of course,
- 38:18Speaker 5: but everybody else around the country is like yep, yeah,
- 38:21Speaker 5: but why but like why are you saying these things
- 38:24Speaker 5: like we have eyes, like you can fool us, Like
- 38:26Speaker 5: what is you know, what have y'all done behind the scenes?
- 38:30Speaker 5: What does he do behind the scenes that gives him that?
- 38:32Speaker 4: Right?
- 38:33Speaker 5: This is the NFL. Nobody, nobody deserves anything. Nobody is
- 38:39Speaker 5: the NFL doesn't owe you anything. But it's two guys
- 38:42Speaker 5: that have not lived up to where they were drafted,
- 38:47Speaker 5: or in CJ. Stroud's case, not lived up to the
- 38:50Speaker 5: hype that he built up his first year in the NFL,
- 38:54Speaker 5: which was really good.
- 38:56Speaker 2: But those two guys, like even before last.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Year, it's like, okay, should be some sort of competition
- 39:01Speaker 5: for Bryce, but there's not. Yeah, there's nothing they're not
- 39:04Speaker 5: even like thinking about drafting a guy to compete with him,
- 39:08Speaker 5: or bringing in a veteran to compete and bring in
- 39:10Speaker 5: Kirk Cousins.
- 39:11Speaker 4: I'm like, do something right just to push him. Kenny
- 39:14Speaker 4: Pickett's the backup this year.
- 39:16Speaker 5: And then in Houston, like their situation, they're GM. Yeah,
- 39:20Speaker 5: small boy there, Yeah, they're GM and and uh what's
- 39:24Speaker 5: his name? And in Houston he's like from the Patriots,
- 39:28Speaker 5: He's like, are you crazy? Are y'all do you hear
- 39:31Speaker 5: yourselves talking to me right now? You want me to
- 39:34Speaker 5: put somebody to compete with CJ? Like, I don't know.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Those are the two guys, like man Davis Mills is there,
- 39:41Speaker 3: but okay, he's had some okay moments when he's played well.
- 39:45Speaker 5: They look better with him than they did with CJ.
- 39:48Speaker 5: But like they're not bringing anybody to like, for real
- 39:51Speaker 5: compete with those two guys, which is a little bit
- 39:53Speaker 5: strange to me. But with that being said, I do
- 39:56Speaker 5: think Bryce Young Ceialing is a little bit higher than
- 39:58Speaker 5: what we've seen, not a lot, a little bit.
- 40:00Speaker 4: Haynes Skiing also in Carolina too.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Remember we talked about that this weekend or week one,
- 40:06Speaker 3: I would have something for Haynes King ready to go,
- 40:10Speaker 3: certainly with the running back group in Carolina.
- 40:14Speaker 2: He seemed like a prime pick for the Broncos.
- 40:17Speaker 3: And by the way, can we can we look, I
- 40:19Speaker 3: don't know this. This guy might be a great guy,
- 40:21Speaker 3: and that's fine. There's a lot of great guys that
- 40:23Speaker 3: aren't good at football. Uh, can we stop trying to
- 40:25Speaker 3: force it? You know what he's gonna have?
- 40:30Speaker 4: Yeah, he's yeah, yeah, for sure, Like that was Matt
- 40:35Speaker 4: hoping because he probably had a card or two of.
- 40:37Speaker 3: His I got, but no, Look, it's Ted mc millan,
- 40:43Speaker 3: it's Jalen Cocher.
- 40:46Speaker 4: You you drafted a receiver in the third round. You
- 40:51Speaker 4: got Jimmy Horn Junior. And John Mechi's there now too.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Like.
- 40:57Speaker 2: It's year breakout, year breakout player of the year.
- 41:00Speaker 4: Ooh, put that on favor I don't love it.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Didn't feel right.
- 41:06Speaker 4: They also like, didn't re sign Rico O'Donnell.
- 41:08Speaker 3: And now Cuba Hubbard's going to be the back his
- 41:11Speaker 3: long Chuba Hubbard's longest run last year. Who's going to
- 41:14Speaker 3: be the starting running back for the Carolina Panthers. They
- 41:19Speaker 3: might want to take a guess, So he's gonna be
- 41:21Speaker 3: the guy playing in fifteen games had five hundred and
- 41:23Speaker 3: eleven rushing yards three point eight yards per carry. Anybody
- 41:26Speaker 3: want to guess Cuba Hubbard's longest run of the year
- 41:29Speaker 3: last year, It's got to be wildly short.
- 41:32Speaker 8: Twelve yards, okay, eighteen Okay.
- 41:36Speaker 5: I'm gonna go less just because I'm reading your face
- 41:39Speaker 5: right now. Nine fourteen. So Lone's right price is right.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Rolls fourteen yards and he had one hundred and thirty
- 41:49Speaker 3: four carries.
- 41:51Speaker 6: That's wild.
- 41:52Speaker 3: I could do that, yeah, right now in my current state,
- 41:57Speaker 3: forty one years young, I can get you a fifteen
- 41:59Speaker 3: years and one hundred and four carry yards one hundred
- 42:04Speaker 3: and thirty four carries. I will luck into cutting the
- 42:07Speaker 3: backside of his own, making the d N miss and
- 42:09Speaker 3: then getting fifteen yards.
- 42:11Speaker 2: But I gotta be honest with you.
- 42:13Speaker 5: This Saturday, when we were at your camp and you
- 42:16Speaker 5: put put down that forty yard those cones at forty
- 42:19Speaker 5: yards to take everyone's forty yard time. Yeah, I swear.
- 42:22Speaker 5: When I first saw the cones, I was like, why
- 42:23Speaker 5: they why are they running the sixty right now? Then
- 42:26Speaker 5: I started counting the yards. I was like, that's forty yards. Yeah,
- 42:30Speaker 5: so far your binoculars out, like, god, that's a long
- 42:34Speaker 5: way to run. You did come over and say that
- 42:36Speaker 5: some of those kids they had never run that far
- 42:37Speaker 5: and a lot they're like got to.
- 42:39Speaker 3: That, Oh my god, they got and they were like
- 42:41Speaker 3: veering off, you know, like forty is a long way.
- 42:45Speaker 3: J Bones ran a four nine seven jay at six two,
- 42:50Speaker 3: two hundred and sixty five pounds.
- 42:51Speaker 4: Jay Bones, of course that's Jackson, my oldest son.
- 42:54Speaker 6: Wait, Ja Bones ran what seven day? He was moving?
- 42:58Speaker 3: He was moving, he was He's like he lives in
- 43:01Speaker 3: the four nine is always messed with him, Like yeah,
- 43:03Speaker 3: he's like he's gonna be between like a four nine
- 43:06Speaker 3: seven and a four nine nine no matter when he
- 43:08Speaker 3: runs them.
- 43:09Speaker 4: But he's in the force.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Bones, So get the quarterback.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Yeah, he's playing zero nos and a get the great down,
- 43:16Speaker 3: get the quarterback, thirty down line.
- 43:18Speaker 2: He's doing this. That's what she's doing like Aaron Donald
- 43:22Speaker 2: does it.
- 43:22Speaker 3: He's got to play zero the plays three ten anywhere,
- 43:25Speaker 3: big difference anywhere.
- 43:27Speaker 4: You're saying zero nos and three teen the same thing.
- 43:29Speaker 2: No, you can play anywhere now. So I said, he's
- 43:31Speaker 2: playing play safety.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Aaron Donald could Jay Bones, I don't know, I know
- 43:35Speaker 3: what the backpedal's looking like. All right, more OTB when
- 43:38Speaker 3: we come back here live from the Raising Kings studio.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Off the bench.

- 45:07Speaker 4: All right, welcome back in O t B. Matt Flynn.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Give me the pecking order of quarterbacks in the NFC South.
- 45:16Speaker 5: UH n C South uh Baker Mayfield, Tyler Shuck. It's
- 45:25Speaker 5: gonna be a toss up after the next one. No
- 45:28Speaker 5: one from Atlanta stand healthy. So I guess an amalgamation
- 45:34Speaker 5: Tua and Pinnix would be m hm three than Bryce four.
- 45:40Speaker 10: Oh wait, you think two and Pinnicks amalgamation above Bryce?
- 45:45Speaker 2: I guess I mean.
- 45:48Speaker 5: Kind of a coin flip on that one, a little bit,
- 45:50Speaker 5: uh because two has shown a really high ceiling from
- 45:53Speaker 5: a yards standpoint, not really high, a higher ceiling than Bryce.
- 45:58Speaker 8: Yeah, but.
- 46:01Speaker 5: Again, I just don't know why they've never brought anybody
- 46:03Speaker 5: to compete with Bryce.
- 46:04Speaker 4: I mean five, Randy Dalton trade him this year?
- 46:09Speaker 10: Who?
- 46:09Speaker 1: Like?
- 46:09Speaker 3: Who give me like graft somebody, Oh.
- 46:14Speaker 5: I mean this is your five? Right for Bryce, this
- 46:18Speaker 5: is your four? Okay, right, yeah, your four. We'll fact
- 46:23Speaker 5: check that it's your four. We'll fact check it.
- 46:27Speaker 4: We'll do that when we come back off the bench.
