- 0:00Speaker 1: With Stu Gotts and Hawkman. I mean there is something
- 0:05Speaker 1: exciting about seeing Stu Gotts in a radio studio.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yes, not just any radio studio. I'm in the studios
- 0:13Speaker 2: of Big one oh six. I am in Paul Castronovo's
- 0:17Speaker 2: studio right now.
- 0:18Speaker 3: How about that?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Does he know that you're using his studio?
- 0:22Speaker 3: No, he has no idea and neither this's doc Reno.
- 0:25Speaker 1: But who's the most famous radio person to live in
- 0:31Speaker 1: Boca Ratone? Is it me? You or Paul Castronova? Wow?
- 0:35Speaker 2: Well, I'm new to Boca. I'm gonna say, wow, So
- 0:40Speaker 2: you are Paul. That is a great, great question. I'm
- 0:44Speaker 2: gonna I'm gonna say you. I'm going to say you
- 0:47Speaker 2: you are the most famous radio personality living in Boca,
- 0:51Speaker 2: only because I think Paul doesn't really live in Boca.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I think he spends like half his time in Maine.
- 0:56Speaker 2: You know, Yeah, that is true. I would actually say
- 1:00Speaker 2: we'd have to go off the board on that. The
- 1:02Speaker 2: most famous radio personality living in Boca is Al Lombardo.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Oh, of course, samous for Sam Sneave. My god, yeah,
- 1:08Speaker 1: I hadn't thought of it. When I give you the
- 1:09Speaker 1: original list of choices.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Stupid question.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Now arm with hindsight, I appreciate the vote of confidence,
- 1:17Speaker 1: though I thought I was falling a deep third behind
- 1:21Speaker 1: you and Paul.
- 1:22Speaker 2: You know, when you live in Boca, you commit to Boca.
- 1:25Speaker 2: And Paul is not fully committed to Boca. He is,
- 1:28Speaker 2: you know right, he's fifty percent committed to Boca, fifty
- 1:32Speaker 2: percent committed to Maine. And I feel like when he's
- 1:34Speaker 2: in Boca, he wishes he was in Maine, you know about.
- 1:37Speaker 1: That's so right, That's such a great call. Nobody loves
- 1:40Speaker 1: Boca like I love Boca. I love Boca.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I have seen you walking around the streets of Boca,
- 1:47Speaker 2: and you are right. No one loves Boca and is
- 1:50Speaker 2: more well known in Boca Ratone than you.
- 1:52Speaker 3: How about that.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Place just makes me happy? Everything about Boca, right, It's
- 1:58Speaker 1: like yes, avocado, toast, oh, yes, coffee.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Thanks, Yes, they have all of those things in Maine.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Terrible humidity. The last episode of with Stebotson Hawkman, I
- 2:19Speaker 1: was just looking at some of the comments on YouTube.
- 2:21Speaker 1: It was all about fake Howard, and then I went
- 2:24Speaker 1: and I had lunch with fake Howard that afternoon, and
- 2:28Speaker 1: the YouTube comments are just excellent. People are, in fact Buddha,
- 2:33Speaker 1: who had sponsored this podcast for a while with Decady
- 2:36Speaker 1: four and Burton Max's Buddha, sent me a text this
- 2:40Speaker 1: morning he had just listened to the episode. I'll tell
- 2:45Speaker 1: you what Buddha said. All right, can't tell you the
- 2:48Speaker 1: last time I heard Fake Howard. Don't know if it's
- 2:52Speaker 1: just because I know you all or just it's that
- 2:55Speaker 1: fucking funny. That was the best thirty minutes I've had
- 3:00Speaker 1: in a while. That might be your best episode, if
- 3:03Speaker 1: not certainly on the Mount Rushmore. Yeah, it was a
- 3:07Speaker 1: good funny episode. But that's all because Fake Howard is
- 3:12Speaker 1: very clever at what he does.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Yes, so how is your launch with Fake Howard?
- 3:17Speaker 2: Is Fake Howard soaking up all the positive comments about
- 3:20Speaker 2: his episode?
- 3:21Speaker 3: I'm certain he is.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I know him, I mean so, I sent him the
- 3:24Speaker 1: link to the YouTube episode this morning, and he watched
- 3:28Speaker 1: it and he doesn't even remember half that stuff. And
- 3:31Speaker 1: his only comment was, how the hell did I not
- 3:34Speaker 1: get paid for all my work on this? Of course,
- 3:40Speaker 1: I said, we'll get in line, buddy, because I'm still
- 3:43Speaker 1: waiting on a fifty million dollar. I might cut a
- 3:45Speaker 1: fifty million dollars you.
- 3:47Speaker 3: And me both.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Anyway, Fake Howard, who is my freshman year roommate from UM,
- 4:02Speaker 1: and Dan would always say his attorney. He's an attorney.
- 4:06Speaker 1: He's a traffic ticket attorney and has a big business
- 4:10Speaker 1: down here, the ticket Wizard. Fake Howard had a couple
- 4:14Speaker 1: other impressions on the show that we're recurring impressions. One
- 4:21Speaker 1: of them was a little more niche than the other,
- 4:24Speaker 1: and I'm going to play it first. I had referenced
- 4:26Speaker 1: it in the last episode because I told you that
- 4:29Speaker 1: we were doing the I'm a Violent Sneezer T shirts.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I'm a Violent Sneezer was Fake Dusty Rhodes, But before
- 4:38Speaker 1: Fake Dusty Rhodes, we had this very niche impersonation. And
- 4:45Speaker 1: again we talked about it in the last episode or two.
- 4:47Speaker 1: But Frank to Ford was a legendary sports writer and
- 4:52Speaker 1: when we started the show in two thousand and four,
- 4:54Speaker 1: I mean, Dan was all about sports writers. He loved
- 4:58Speaker 1: sports writers. And again it's kind of a dying breed
- 5:02Speaker 1: the way that you know a lot of print media is.
- 5:05Speaker 1: But Frank to Ford, like he was Sports Illustrated, carried
- 5:09Speaker 1: the weight of the world, right, I mean, that was
- 5:13Speaker 1: the go to journalistic outlet for sports media.
- 5:18Speaker 2: No, no doubt about it. And you're right, Dan was well.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Dan was still writing for The Herald when we first
- 5:25Speaker 2: started doing the show, and so you know, print media
- 5:29Speaker 2: is still meant a lot to him. Guys like Frank
- 5:31Speaker 2: to Ford meant a lot to Lebtard. Frank to Ford
- 5:35Speaker 2: is a legend. He's like a writer's writer, you know,
- 5:38Speaker 2: like he is the guy that was Yes, he was, Yes,
- 5:41Speaker 2: may rest in peace, My apologies. He was a writer's writer.
- 5:45Speaker 2: All the writers looked up. They wanted to be Frank
- 5:49Speaker 2: to Ford, you know, yep, yep.
- 5:51Speaker 1: He had a way with words. So then Frank to
- 5:54Speaker 1: Ford makes this jump from died in twenty seventeen by
- 5:59Speaker 1: the way, Oh wow, not surprised Frank to Ford make that.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Made the jump to Real Sports with Brian Gumbel. Yeah, now,
- 6:09Speaker 1: Brian Gumble Real Sports on HBO. That was like an
- 6:12Speaker 1: epiphany almost because there was no It was almost sixty
- 6:16Speaker 1: minutes style but specifically geared towards sports.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Yes, yes, and Brian.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Gumbele would feature real journalists doing real sports journalism. And
- 6:28Speaker 1: one of the cast members of Real Sports was Frank
- 6:32Speaker 1: to Ford. It's the only reason that people knew what
- 6:34Speaker 1: he looked like and what he sounded like.
- 6:37Speaker 2: That is correct because if you recall on that show,
- 6:39Speaker 2: so Gumble would take you through the story. They would
- 6:42Speaker 2: show the story and then afterwards there was always a
- 6:44Speaker 2: little sit down with the person who generated said story.
- 6:48Speaker 2: So he would sit down with Frank de Ford for
- 6:51Speaker 2: five to six minutes after the episode of air to
- 6:53Speaker 2: kind of recap what it is that we just saw,
- 6:56Speaker 2: you know.
- 6:57Speaker 1: They would come back from the video package. Brian Cumble
- 6:59Speaker 1: would take off his glasses. Yes he had notes. He
- 7:03Speaker 1: had like a sharpie and a pad like I do.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yes, but not in his mouth, right, not in his mouth.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Big mistake by him. It's why I'm more popular in Boca.
- 7:14Speaker 1: And he would kind of talk about the segment with
- 7:17Speaker 1: the writer and Frank to Ford, whether he was writing
- 7:20Speaker 1: or talking, was always waxing poetic. But he had a
- 7:24Speaker 1: wispy mustache. He remind me a little of Arthur Blank,
- 7:30Speaker 1: the owner of the Falcon.
- 7:31Speaker 3: That is so good perfect.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yes, yes, physically they look almost exactly alike.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, it kind of carries himself in a very
- 7:39Speaker 1: erudite fashion, but it was so fake. Howard had this
- 7:45Speaker 1: brilliant impersonation of Frank de Ford again, very niche because
- 7:50Speaker 1: it wasn't like Frank de Ford was as popular a character.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Certainly Howard Schnellenberger in South Florida everybody knew, and Dusty Rhodes,
- 7:58Speaker 1: I mean everybody knew world wide. Frank the Ford was
- 8:01Speaker 1: a little bit more niche. But here's a sample of it.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Here is you and Dan bringing on fake Frank the Ford,
- 8:07Speaker 1: the wax poetic about baseball.
- 8:10Speaker 4: The ostentatious, polysyllabic, breathy Frank the Ford of HBO Real
- 8:15Speaker 4: Sports and Sports Illustrated joins us on seven ninety the ticket.
- 8:19Speaker 1: What do you've got?
- 8:20Speaker 5: First of all, levat hard, how dare you say nobody
- 8:23Speaker 5: knows who I am or what I sound like. I'm
- 8:25Speaker 5: a legend in this business.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Dammit, you're wearing.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Your lapels, you got your kerchief, and and what are
- 8:30Speaker 4: you bringing for us? You got your what are your
- 8:31Speaker 4: waxing poetic on a.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Little something about sport? I love baseball?
- 8:36Speaker 1: Ah, baseball?
- 8:37Speaker 5: All right, it's that time of year again. Oh I'm
- 8:40Speaker 5: not talking about my annual dude runs through the Arizona
- 8:43Speaker 5: Desert watch out for those cacti. Of course, I'm talking
- 8:47Speaker 5: about baseball's spring training when the crack of the bat
- 8:51Speaker 5: brings me back to a simpler time when a man
- 8:54Speaker 5: could wear a thedora, a wide purple lapel, and pencil
- 8:58Speaker 5: thin mustache without people thinking he's on his way to
- 9:01Speaker 5: a gone with the Win costume party. Yes, this time
- 9:04Speaker 5: of year, hope springs eternal. You dust off that old
- 9:08Speaker 5: leathery mit with that great musty smell, and toss the
- 9:12Speaker 5: hardball around, reliving the great moment from the past. Suddenly
- 9:16Speaker 5: your back at Yankee Stadium or Evittsfield and a running
- 9:20Speaker 5: like Jackie Robinson.
- 9:21Speaker 1: What was that first word there?
- 9:24Speaker 5: Suddenly your back at Yankee Stadium or Evitt's Field and
- 9:27Speaker 5: a running like Jackie Robinson, or making that over the
- 9:30Speaker 5: shoulder catch like Willie Mays. You see, baseball used to
- 9:33Speaker 5: be a simple game played by simple men, men who
- 9:37Speaker 5: were happy to have a candy bar named after them.
- 9:40Speaker 5: As a former Red Sox fan, I still can't eat
- 9:42Speaker 5: a Baby Ruth bar. Of course, that might have something
- 9:45Speaker 5: to do with that Caddyshack movie. Oh that Ted Knight
- 9:48Speaker 5: could really make me chuckle. Yes, a simple game for
- 9:52Speaker 5: simple times, But today everyone's in such a hurry. Pitchers
- 9:56Speaker 5: come in for one out, runners come in for one
- 9:59Speaker 5: base and backers for one swing. Oh, if they'd only
- 10:02Speaker 5: let me get in for one at bat, the stories
- 10:04Speaker 5: I'd be able to tell the next time I go
- 10:07Speaker 5: down to the old Floradito and sit in hemingwish hair.
- 10:11Speaker 5: Speaking of Cuba. Isn't it ironic that a game that
- 10:14Speaker 5: was in North America is being perfected in South America
- 10:18Speaker 5: and the Far East. I often wonder what the legends
- 10:21Speaker 5: of the past would think of roommates on a key
- 10:24Speaker 5: shop or arrest days. I wonder if tomorrow's stars will
- 10:29Speaker 5: have names like bin Laden or Mohammed, or if we'll
- 10:33Speaker 5: all just stop playing baseball together in favor of the
- 10:36Speaker 5: most glorious of all sports, soccer. We to thank you
- 10:44Speaker 5: for having me on the program.
- 10:49Speaker 1: So good man, and it's so Taylor made for Barry too,
- 10:53Speaker 1: Like if you know Barriers, Like how much enjoyment did
- 10:57Speaker 1: Barry get writing those soliloquies about baseball through the eyes
- 11:02Speaker 1: of someone that is that poetic like Frank the Ford.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I can't imagine there was a more enjoyable thing for
- 11:08Speaker 2: Barry to do. Then the put back together the CACTI
- 11:12Speaker 2: made me laugh out loud.
- 11:15Speaker 1: So perfectly said it and if you knew Frank the Ford, Yes,
- 11:20Speaker 1: I mean it is. I just spot on his Barry's
- 11:25Speaker 1: fake Howard, fake Frank the Ford, and you'll hear fake
- 11:29Speaker 1: Dusty Rhodes in a minute. They are so spot on.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I don't even know which one I would consider to
- 11:34Speaker 1: be the best impersonation.
- 11:36Speaker 3: That Ted Night makes me chuckle hucked.
- 11:42Speaker 6: It's almost like a Chicken or the egg situation. But
- 11:45Speaker 6: when you have an impression like this, do you think
- 11:48Speaker 6: the impression is more important or the writing? Because the
- 11:50Speaker 6: writing is phenomenal and kind of takes it over the time.
- 11:53Speaker 1: It's great. So the writing because it's Frank the Ford, phenomenal,
- 11:59Speaker 1: the fake Howard in the fake Dusty Rhads. It's easy
- 12:01Speaker 1: to fall back on the stuff that they would talk about.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Write the Waggle play and Beverly and with Dusty Rhodes,
- 12:07Speaker 1: the Omni in Atlanta, right Frank to Ford. You had
- 12:11Speaker 1: to get the writing correct. But it's like Kelly Endo.
- 12:14Speaker 1: You know Kelly Endo. A lot of times what he's
- 12:16Speaker 1: saying through the impersonations not particularly funny, but the impersonation
- 12:21Speaker 1: is so good that you're just captivated by what he's doing. Yes,
- 12:25Speaker 1: I just think that the Frank to Ford. It's got both.
- 12:28Speaker 1: He really sounds like him and he is really writing
- 12:33Speaker 1: like him. A little over the top, Barry, a little
- 12:36Speaker 1: over the top, but that's what makes any impersonation funny.
- 12:39Speaker 3: It has to be over the top.
- 12:40Speaker 2: And we set it up for the people who didn't
- 12:43Speaker 2: know who Frank to Ford was, what he sounded like.
- 12:45Speaker 2: We set it up as imagine, this is a writer's writer,
- 12:48Speaker 2: this is the journalist, journalist, you know, this is the guy.
- 12:52Speaker 2: And so Barry really had to write that one well,
- 12:55Speaker 2: and he did. Did he ever run those by you
- 12:57Speaker 2: or wondering did he ever like run the script by this?
- 13:01Speaker 1: I don't think Barry ran much by us because it
- 13:04Speaker 1: was always a home run with him, and even when
- 13:06Speaker 1: it wasn't a home run, like there were a couple
- 13:08Speaker 1: of failures, those were funny because they were such outliers,
- 13:12Speaker 1: you know, like all he wanted. All Barry would ever
- 13:15Speaker 1: ask is give me a heads up, because you know
- 13:18Speaker 1: what happened a lot of times with our show. We
- 13:20Speaker 1: would get on a topic and Dan would say, oh,
- 13:24Speaker 1: I'd love to hear what fake Howard has to say
- 13:26Speaker 1: about that. Get him on the phone, and I call Barry. Well,
- 13:29Speaker 1: he's an attorney, he's running a business, right, And I'd go, Bear,
- 13:32Speaker 1: can you hop on for two minutes? What are you
- 13:34Speaker 1: guys talking about? We're talking about I don't know, you
- 13:37Speaker 1: know whatever, gambling in sports. And he's like, well, is
- 13:41Speaker 1: that like I needed an hour to write? Like I
- 13:44Speaker 1: want to make it funny. And that would be the
- 13:46Speaker 1: most annoying thing to Barry about is he did want
- 13:49Speaker 1: to make sure that when he was coming on, it
- 13:51Speaker 1: was going to be funny and it was going to
- 13:53Speaker 1: be well thought out, and it wasn't just Dan, but
- 13:55Speaker 1: a lot of times we would just put him on
- 13:56Speaker 1: the spot. But sometimes that would turn out to be
- 13:58Speaker 1: funny because he didn't have much. In fact, listen to
- 14:01Speaker 1: this next phone call with Frank the Ford. Uh, Frank
- 14:05Speaker 1: the Ford calls in to wax poetic about the ELF
- 14:09Speaker 1: hotel and baseball and all that stuff, and then there's
- 14:13Speaker 1: this point it sounds like he's saying shitting. He meant
- 14:16Speaker 1: to say sitting. It sounds like shitting, yes, And you
- 14:19Speaker 1: guys are like, wait a second, what was that? But
- 14:21Speaker 1: Barry like it didn't didn't register with him. What was
- 14:24Speaker 1: the pause there? And he's like, hey, just end this
- 14:26Speaker 1: if you guys are done with this like this is
- 14:28Speaker 1: a funny phone call. Play play that one.
- 14:31Speaker 5: In the midst of Old Havanah. A couple of blocks
- 14:34Speaker 5: away from the El Flodadita where the Dackery was introduced
- 14:38Speaker 5: to a thirsty world, is parka Central. It's not like
- 14:42Speaker 5: New York Central Park or just a plaza, but mostly
- 14:45Speaker 5: Park Central is distinguished by a group of noisy and
- 14:49Speaker 5: animated men doing nothing but sitting there and arguing about baseball.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Wait a minute, Wait a minute, what are they doing there?
- 14:57Speaker 5: Are sitting there and arguing?
- 14:59Speaker 4: Sound they were sitting there, It sounded like they were
- 15:02Speaker 4: doing something else there with your lisp.
- 15:05Speaker 5: I'm not certain what you're talking about. Feel free to
- 15:08Speaker 5: cut this off at any time. God, keep going such passion.
- 15:13Speaker 5: Why you've never even seen the like civit in Fenway
- 15:15Speaker 5: Park or Wrigley Field. Oh, I would love to be
- 15:18Speaker 5: in Park Central this March when them sixteen most prominent
- 15:21Speaker 5: nations of the Diamond play in the first World Baseball Classic.
- 15:25Speaker 5: It'll be glorious.
- 15:27Speaker 3: All right, that's enough out of you. Thank Frank de Ford,
- 15:29Speaker 3: thank you for the appearance.
- 15:31Speaker 5: Thank you for having me on the program.
- 15:38Speaker 2: He absolutely said, shitting.
- 15:41Speaker 1: He is so caught out for that character.
- 15:44Speaker 3: So good is it?
- 15:45Speaker 1: Taylor? Is it funny to you? Because obviously I don't
- 15:47Speaker 1: think you know Barry, and I don't think you know
- 15:49Speaker 1: Frank the Ford. Does the character work in that instance.
- 15:54Speaker 6: Yes, it does, just because I'm imagining the baseball writers
- 15:58Speaker 6: of today, like a Loop or somebody like that. Yeah,
- 16:02Speaker 6: And the writing is so over the top that it's
- 16:05Speaker 6: still resonating.
- 16:07Speaker 1: The guys, the throwback writer the Loop, because Peter Gammon's right,
- 16:12Speaker 1: the ones who you know when you when you wrote,
- 16:15Speaker 1: you painted a picture like a van Go, you know,
- 16:19Speaker 1: and it was just like, I just love that character.
- 16:22Speaker 2: The key to that character is, oh, I would love
- 16:26Speaker 2: to be.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Thank you for having me on the program. And then
- 16:33Speaker 1: the other character that Barry did so well is Dusty Rhodes.
- 16:37Speaker 1: And I'm sure young people know Cody Rhods. Of course,
- 16:40Speaker 1: are you familiar with Dusty Rhodes, Taylor gold Dust? Yeah?
- 16:46Speaker 1: But in yes, yeah, so there was gold Dust. There's
- 16:51Speaker 1: Cody Rhoads. Was there a third two or no?
- 16:54Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 16:55Speaker 1: The original Dusty Roads was the American Dream. In fact,
- 16:58Speaker 1: he came and saw us in the studio once Stugott's
- 17:01Speaker 1: You and I.
- 17:02Speaker 7: Yes, there's a picture of us with a great Dusty Roads. Yes,
- 17:06Speaker 7: I have to scroll back and look for it, and
- 17:07Speaker 7: I will. It's a great picture. I think it was
- 17:11Speaker 7: aiding McDonald's at the time.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I think. I think it's when we were doing mornings.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I think it was. It came in in the morning,
- 17:20Speaker 3: I believe.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, so it was just us. Dan wasn't there,
- 17:23Speaker 1: and Dan loved Dusty Rhoads. Yes, but I remember who
- 17:27Speaker 1: doesn't I remember having him on the morning show with us.
- 17:29Speaker 1: But anyway, one of Barry's best impersonations was Dusty Rhodes,
- 17:34Speaker 1: the American Dream. He would always call in it's the
- 17:37Speaker 1: exact Dusty Roads stand ups that he would do in wrestling.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Back then. He would always be promoting an event at
- 17:44Speaker 1: the Omni in Atlanta. Wrestling was so regionalized back when
- 17:48Speaker 1: we were growing up. So it was Dusty Rhodes. He
- 17:52Speaker 1: was going to be wrestling wrestling at the Omni in Atlanta,
- 17:56Speaker 1: and he'd be talking with Gordon so Lee, who was
- 17:58Speaker 1: one of the best wrestling announcers in that era. If
- 18:03Speaker 1: you've never heard it before, here it is. This is
- 18:05Speaker 1: Barry doing fake Dusty Rhoades from the OMNI in Atlanta.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Let's bring on fake Dusty Rhoads. Where are you calling from?
- 18:15Speaker 5: It from the OMNI where we're gonna get nat, We're
- 18:20Speaker 5: gonna get sunk. We gonna bring it on many night
- 18:29Speaker 5: without omnia and Atlanta. Thank You program.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Became his calling card for every person person for me
- 18:44Speaker 1: on the program.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Yes, and it worked. I can't find the picture of me,
- 18:47Speaker 3: you and Dusty.
- 18:48Speaker 1: I'm sorry, man, I'm gonna I'm gonna find it. Well,
- 18:50Speaker 1: we'll play the violince sneezer segment the second the the
- 18:54Speaker 1: set the someone I mentioned I'm a violent sneezer. It
- 18:58Speaker 1: was either the last episode of the previous one, and
- 19:01Speaker 1: I didn't know where it came from. Someone dm me
- 19:04Speaker 1: on Instagram that a football player ended up on IR
- 19:10Speaker 1: because they had sneezed. There it is. There's the picture
- 19:12Speaker 1: of me inst's Dusty Road.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Yes, a very young me and you a very young
- 19:17Speaker 3: Dusty Roads.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Yes. Crazy. So someone dm me that I'm a violent
- 19:25Speaker 1: sneezer came from somebody ending up on the UH injured
- 19:29Speaker 1: list because of a sneeze, and I googled it NFL
- 19:35Speaker 1: players sneeze and I came up only with a baseball
- 19:38Speaker 1: player who ended up So maybe it was that.
- 19:40Speaker 2: I do believe we were talking about Dan and I
- 19:43Speaker 2: were laughing over the fact that a baseball pitcher, I believe,
- 19:47Speaker 2: sneeze during yes, sneeze during his warm ups. He didn't
- 19:50Speaker 2: get hurt during warm ups. He actually sneezed after his
- 19:53Speaker 2: warm up and then threw out his back, and we're like,
- 19:56Speaker 2: that's impossible, there's no way, like that's and then we
- 19:59Speaker 2: just started making fun of it, and then you know,
- 20:02Speaker 2: that's where it came from.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Well here, maybe it was two thousand and four. I'm
- 20:05Speaker 1: looking at famous bizarre baseball injuries. Sammy Sosa in two
- 20:09Speaker 1: thousand and four sidelined for nearly a month from violent sneezing.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Yes, maybe that was Yes, maybe that was it.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Maybe that was it, right, Matt Lattos, Hmmm, that may
- 20:22Speaker 1: be who you're thinking of. That was twenty ten, strained
- 20:24Speaker 1: a muscle trying to suppress a sneeze in the dugout.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's ridiculous.
- 20:34Speaker 1: But anyway, we had fake Dusty Rhodes on talking about it.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I don't know why, but he came up with this gem.
- 20:42Speaker 1: This is just the quick line. This was the line
- 20:44Speaker 1: that all of a sudden we fell in love with
- 20:46Speaker 1: this was Dusty Rose just saying I'm a violent sneezer.
- 20:48Speaker 2: I'm a violent sneezer, the great line, it's catchy, fantastic.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Yes, yeah.
- 20:56Speaker 1: And that T shirt I believe is up right now
- 20:58Speaker 1: at horsemuffins dot com. That was the most requested T
- 21:01Speaker 1: shirt on my son's website that was not yet available
- 21:05Speaker 1: for sale was the I'm a Violent Sneezer T shirt,
- 21:07Speaker 1: And in fact he made two versions. One of them
- 21:10Speaker 1: is a nose with some sneeze action, some boggers and
- 21:15Speaker 1: I'm a violent sneezer and colorful letters the other shirt.
- 21:18Speaker 1: The other version is like the same snead my God shirt,
- 21:22Speaker 1: which is just a quote and then it's attributed to
- 21:24Speaker 1: fake Dusty Rhodes on the Lebotard Show. So that's at
- 21:28Speaker 1: Horsemuffins dot com.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Hawk we could do this on another episode, but I
- 21:32Speaker 2: do believe I'm a violent sneezer. I think most listeners,
- 21:36Speaker 2: if we were to make a mount rushmore of Lebtard
- 21:39Speaker 2: Show phrases, I'm a violent sneezer would be on most listeners.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Mount rushmore like quick.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Phrases from the show from however long it's been going.
- 21:48Speaker 1: I think you're right, I'd have to give it some thought, right,
- 21:51Speaker 1: because I think we've established that is probably up there,
- 21:56Speaker 1: a quick line that everybody knows it's from the show.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Me first, Me first, that's probably up there.
- 22:06Speaker 2: There's some good ones we could do this. We should
- 22:07Speaker 2: get the listeners involved. Yes, yes, but anyway, I'm a
- 22:12Speaker 2: violent sneezer.
- 22:13Speaker 1: So we would come back from commercial break, I would
- 22:15Speaker 1: play a song and sometimes I would fire off some
- 22:19Speaker 1: sound clips during the song, just for fun, just for
- 22:22Speaker 1: shits and giggles, to try to entertain you. And Dan, yes,
- 22:25Speaker 1: and I came back with House of Pain, and I
- 22:28Speaker 1: was mixing in I'm a Violent sneezer, and Dan was delighted.
- 22:33Speaker 1: He couldn't get enough. And now it was like, let's
- 22:36Speaker 1: do this for the entire segment, right, But as he
- 22:39Speaker 1: is wont to do sometimes it's like, well, do it again,
- 22:42Speaker 1: but make it funnier, but.
- 22:44Speaker 3: There's no you know what I mean.
- 22:46Speaker 1: So it's like, okay, well, now I got to try
- 22:47Speaker 1: to make it funnier, maybe putting in sergeant Slaughter saying attention,
- 22:53Speaker 1: like just and then it's like, okay, let me give
- 22:55Speaker 1: you a couple seconds, but make it really funny this time.
- 22:57Speaker 1: But I'm like, well, I don't have like I thought
- 22:59Speaker 1: it was fun the first time, but now you're putting
- 23:01Speaker 1: too much pressure on.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a curse to coming up with a
- 23:04Speaker 2: good bit because if Dan really.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Liked it, it meant you had to do more and
- 23:07Speaker 3: it had to be better, you know.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I mean I just blurted out, Yes, I just blurted
- 23:13Speaker 2: out one time. I had them on my notes, my
- 23:15Speaker 2: weekend observations, and all of a sudden, I had to
- 23:17Speaker 2: do them every Monday, and they had to be like
- 23:18Speaker 2: nine pages long.
- 23:24Speaker 1: So here it is. This is me coming back from
- 23:27Speaker 1: commercial break and House of Pain is playing. I throw
- 23:30Speaker 1: in a couple of fake dusty roads. I'm a violent sneezers,
- 23:33Speaker 1: and this is what happens.
- 23:34Speaker 6: Hey Taylor here A quick producer note. This segment contained
- 23:38Speaker 6: copyrighted music that we definitely do not have permission to play,
- 23:43Speaker 6: so it's not going to be included in the podcast,
- 23:45Speaker 6: but it will be on.
- 23:45Speaker 1: The YouTube version. All right.
- 23:47Speaker 6: Back to Stu gotten Hawk.
- 23:52Speaker 1: So good.
- 23:53Speaker 2: We knew we had it the first time, the first
- 23:55Speaker 2: one you did, you and I knew it. But of
- 23:57Speaker 2: course Dan pushed, Yes, that's why.
- 24:00Speaker 1: The whole thing is funny to me, because he's like,
- 24:02Speaker 1: he's like, you didn't understand the assignment, and I'm like, well,
- 24:05Speaker 1: there was no assignment. I just fired off a couple
- 24:08Speaker 1: of a violent sneezers over House of Pain. It just
- 24:11Speaker 1: turned it into like the most important thing that I
- 24:13Speaker 1: have to do all day. But I wasn't prepared for it.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Yes, I understand the assignment. I just wasn't expecting it
- 24:18Speaker 2: to be an assignments. Jesus, we nailed it the first
- 24:22Speaker 2: time around, right, He's.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Like, make it sound like you're a club DJ. And
- 24:26Speaker 1: then he's like, you don't understand the assignment. It's not
- 24:29Speaker 1: something that you'd hear in the clubs, the assignment.
- 24:36Speaker 2: This is how long we've been doing this, man. He
- 24:38Speaker 2: referenced Kimbo's slice walking into the club. How about that all.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Those segments you get such little I mean, just listen
- 24:47Speaker 1: to the songs that are being played there, like you
- 24:49Speaker 1: get such a great snapshot as to what was going on.
- 24:52Speaker 2: I thought the one right before Journey, I can't remember
- 24:55Speaker 2: the name of the song that was as close to
- 24:57Speaker 2: the original as you could possibly get.
- 24:59Speaker 1: The one that you did in that Uh yeah, that
- 25:01Speaker 1: beer commercial done? Hold bag. Yeah, I can't think of the.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I can't remember.
- 25:09Speaker 2: I just what I do remember about that visually with
- 25:12Speaker 2: you was looking across the glass and you did you
- 25:14Speaker 2: had one of your you know, you had your headphones on, Yes,
- 25:18Speaker 2: but it was you pushing that button. I'm a violent
- 25:20Speaker 2: sneezer pushing the button and then backing away from the
- 25:23Speaker 2: board every single time. Yeah right, yes, such the light
- 25:29Speaker 2: and hitting that thing.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Man anyway, props to Barry the ticket Wizard because his impersonations.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Is there a favorite of yours. You've got fake Howard,
- 25:39Speaker 1: Fake Frank to Ford, and fake Dusty Roads, which would
- 25:43Speaker 1: be if you had to rank them one through three.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Wow, that's Fake Howard's number one for a lot of
- 25:49Speaker 2: different reasons. I'm gonna say we got so much out
- 25:53Speaker 2: of Dusty Rhoads. I'm gonna say Dusty Roads too. Frank
- 25:57Speaker 2: to Ford three, how about you?
- 25:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I probably like the Frank to Ford speaks to
- 26:03Speaker 1: me because it is so niche that I like that stuff.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I like humor where ten percent of the people get it,
- 26:11Speaker 1: ninety percent don't, but the ten percent who do get
- 26:14Speaker 1: it are just like, can't believe how good it is.
- 26:18Speaker 1: But I'd say for the purposes of the show, fake
- 26:20Speaker 1: Howard was number one by a mile, and then fake
- 26:24Speaker 1: Dusty Roads probably would dig at more traction. But fake
- 26:27Speaker 1: Frank the Ford for a little minute in time was
- 26:29Speaker 1: a great go to impersonation for.
- 26:31Speaker 3: A moment in time.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Yes, it was great.
- 26:36Speaker 1: There you go. If you want to hear something on
- 26:38Speaker 1: this podcast, dm me on Instagram. It's Radio Mark Hackman.
- 26:43Speaker 1: If you want the Ama Violent Sneezer T shirt, go

- 26:58Speaker 1: out of here. You always have to do three athlete nicknames,
- 27:02Speaker 1: all right, we know that of course. Uh Dusty Rhodes
- 27:09Speaker 1: was the American Dream. Yes, so I will give you
- 27:13Speaker 1: Hakeem Elijah.
- 27:15Speaker 3: On the Dream.
- 27:16Speaker 1: There you go, Hakeem the Dream.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Let me right there?
- 27:20Speaker 1: How about uh God, I don't know, I don't know
- 27:27Speaker 1: this nickname, but it makes all the sense in the world.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Tom Googliata Googs? Did you know that?
- 27:35Speaker 3: Did you just get Yes? If you said Googs, who's
- 27:37Speaker 3: the real person?
- 27:38Speaker 2: I would have told you Tom Googliata, you should try
- 27:43Speaker 2: it that way, Tom Googliata, I mean.
- 27:49Speaker 3: What else are you going if you want, if you
- 27:51Speaker 3: want to give him a nickname, ese what you call
- 27:53Speaker 3: him Googs?
- 27:54Speaker 1: Right right? If he's not Goog, something's going wrong somewhere.
- 28:00Speaker 1: And how about I'll stick with basketball? How about uh h,
- 28:09Speaker 1: I don't know if I should make it tough for.
- 28:12Speaker 3: John Sally sal Spider.
- 28:15Speaker 1: No, yes, we're gonna give it to you.
- 28:20Speaker 3: I got it before you corrected me.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yes, yes, that was great. That was a fun episode.
- 28:26Speaker 1: We are not worthy of you, Barry legendary, absolutely legendary.
