- 4:20Speaker 1: In third place was the pride of Colorado Springs, two-time Pikes Peak champion, mr Jonathan Aziz, and 50 minutes 17 seconds.

- 4:39Speaker 1: A big result for Garrett Corker.
- 4:42Speaker 1: And I know, uh, big result for garrett corcoran.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I know he had made um, I think it was the marathon.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I think was the 40k team um in 2023.
- 4:50Speaker 1: So I know he's trying to claw his way back to uh to make it into a usa national team.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So congrats to garrett.

- 5:14Speaker 1: Big shout out to him.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Huge result, getting close, getting close, big, tight spread between first and eighth, just like the females we're looking at.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Less than a three-minute spread between first and eighth.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Just like the females, um, we're looking at, I mean, it's like a less than, it's like a less than a four, less than a three minute spread between first and eighth.
- 5:29Speaker 1: So just wild, absolutely bananas.
- 5:31Speaker 1: How competitive these races are.
- 5:33Speaker 1: So big shout out to the men and women at loon.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Uh, big shout out to uh tom hooper for putting this race on um again.
- 5:39Speaker 1: These are just absolutely world-class events.
- 5:41Speaker 1: If you guys are looking for something to do on the East coast, um, you know, check out.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I think it was three, six or six.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Three endurance, uh, that Tom operates um and the Loon mountain race.
- 5:51Speaker 1: They also do the Sunupy scramble.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Um, that was the host of the and they were the host of the uh Sunupy up down and vertical races that were the U S championships in uh 2023.
- 6:02Speaker 1: So, all right, guys, we're going to move on and we're going to get to Cirque series, snowbird what an absolute banger of a race.
- 6:10Speaker 1: As well, a U S mountain running championship took place last Saturday, july 13th 2024, and snowbird, utah.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Snowbird is also the home of the speed goat 50 K which, coincidentally, is going to be taking place on the 20th.
- 6:25Speaker 1: We're going to talk about that a little bit later in this preview slash breakdown of some of the races that we had.
- 6:32Speaker 1: So the course itself if you guys are unaware, if you haven't listened to me in the past, this course is about 8.7 miles, so a little bit less than nine miles with 3,600 feet, so 3,610 feet of vertical.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Uh, we top out twice over 11,000 feet on top of Mount Baldy as well as hidden peak, so kind of a little prelude.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Just like a light version of a of speed goat, almost.
- 6:56Speaker 1: So just like a more mountainy speed goat.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Um, just absolute killers on both sides of the course.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I mean, oh my God, in the men's and women's we had, we had Grayson Murphy.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Um, I think she, before winning this, I think she had had four national titles overall for herself.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Um, on the female side, rachel Tomjiak.
- 7:17Speaker 1: We had Alexa Aragon, mk Sullivan, giselle Slotboom, annie Cornish just like so many killers on the female side.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And on the men's side, we had the great Christian Allen, seth Damore If you guys aren't aware of Seth Damore, he's got a big YouTube channel.
- 7:33Speaker 1: He's also one of the best in the United States on the mountain running scene.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Guy is an animal.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Mr Cam Smith, schemo athlete as well as stud, ultra runner or, excuse me, trail runner.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Cole Campbell, david Kennedy and just so many absolute insane athletes turned out to this.
- 7:53Speaker 1: So a big shout out to Cirque series.
- 7:53Speaker 1: They finally got a U S mountain running championship.
- 7:54Speaker 1: If you guys have never researched series races, there's so much fun.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Um, it's.
- 7:57Speaker 1: It's really the mountain classic in a lot of ways, and if you're unfamiliar with what a mountain classic is, it could be an up down.
- 8:03Speaker 1: And if you're unfamiliar with what a mountain classic is, it could be an up down.
- 8:06Speaker 1: It's usually in that six to eight mile distance range with about, you know, 17, 19 to about 3000 feet of vertical could be, you know.
- 8:14Speaker 1: So basically up and down in that like 10 K plus range.
- 8:16Speaker 1: So much fun you are.
- 8:18Speaker 1: You are killing yourself from start to finish red lining and it is just my kind of race.
- 8:23Speaker 1: So so much fun and big congrats.
- 8:26Speaker 1: We finally got one of these out in uh, in Utah as well, so in the mountain West.
- 8:29Speaker 1: A lot of times in the past we've had these races on the East coast, um.
- 8:33Speaker 1: So it's really fun to finally get one of these championships on the West coast, uh, or slash mountain West, if you will, um so.
- 8:40Speaker 1: So some things to talk about here.
- 8:41Speaker 1: We're going to get into the results.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I'm.
- 8:43Speaker 1: In.
- 8:45Speaker 1: First place was miss Grayson Murphy.
- 8:47Speaker 1: A big shout out to Grayson for showing up and absolutely dominating.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Uh, she was pretty vocal after the race that you know she'd been struggling with a lot of health issues and just amazing, what an amazing effort to be able to come through when her fifth national title and be able to pull this off in one hour 36 minutes 17 seconds.
- 9:05Speaker 1: And second place was miss Rachel Tomciak again, so that's doubling.
- 9:10Speaker 1: So she competed at Loon the week before and doubled and came back and got second place this week as well.
- 9:16Speaker 1: So that's making two national teams.
- 9:18Speaker 1: So, miss Rachel Tomciak, meryl Runner, big congratulations to her, getting it done in one hour 40 minutes and 23 seconds.
- 9:26Speaker 1: And third place was Laurel Moyer from Pennsylvania, kind of new to the scene and absolutely making a name for herself, in one hour 40 minutes 37 seconds, so right behind Rachel.
- 9:36Speaker 1: And fourth place was Alexa Aragon and one hour 40 minutes 46 seconds.
- 9:41Speaker 1: So just look at that spread between second and fourth.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Rachel, laurel and Alexa were pretty much right on top of one another.
- 9:47Speaker 1: You know the spread was less than 15 seconds between first and third or second and third fourth, so pretty wild.
- 9:54Speaker 1: And fifth place was MK Sullivan, a name you guys might recognize, in one hour 42 minutes two seconds.
- 10:00Speaker 1: And sixth place was Sydney Peterson in one hour 42 minutes 39 seconds.
- 10:05Speaker 1: And seventh was Giselle Slot boom, in one hour 42, 42.
- 10:10Speaker 1: And eighth place was Andy Cornish in one hour 46 minutes 25 seconds.
- 10:15Speaker 1: And ninth place was Oakley Olson in one hour 46 minutes 28 seconds.
- 10:19Speaker 1: And a 10th place was Flannery Davis love, in one hour 46 minutes 53 seconds.
- 10:25Speaker 1: So big shout out to the women's side of the field.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Uh, just crazy, crazy times.
- 10:30Speaker 1: 10 minutes spread between the first and 10th.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Um, so just so competitive.
- 10:34Speaker 1: And just wow, yeah, um, what an incredible race on the men's side, none other than Mr Christian Allen in first first place in one hour 18 minutes 17 seconds.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Uh, and second place is rising star Mr Hawk call in one hour 19 minutes five seconds.
- 10:51Speaker 1: And third place was Zach Erickson in one hour 21 minutes and nine seconds.
- 10:56Speaker 1: And the fourth place was fan favorite Mason copy in one hour 21 minutes 16 seconds.

- 11:31Speaker 1: And ninth was Mr Cole Campbell, friend of the pod, in one hour 23 minutes 17 seconds.
- 11:37Speaker 1: And 10th place was Schemo Great, mr Cam Smith, in one hour 23 minutes 36 seconds.
- 11:44Speaker 1: So just an absolute amazing performances from everybody all around.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Um, some big takeaways from this.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I mean, like I said before, this is grayson's fifth national title.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I mean, if she's not now in the conversation of one of the greatest female runners of all time.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Uh, on the sub ultra scene.
- 12:01Speaker 1: She absolutely should be.
- 12:02Speaker 1: So look at her go.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I mean, this is insane.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Um, also, rachel tomjiak.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Big shout out to rachel merrill runner.
- 12:09Speaker 1: This is a back to back weekend for her.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Like I said, she competed at Loon and now she came back and competed at Cirque series, snowbird taking place second place.
- 12:17Speaker 1: So podiums on both in two weeks back to back and making two us teams.
- 12:21Speaker 1: So big congratulations to Rachel.
- 12:23Speaker 1: That's absolutely incredible results and just so such range to be able to do both.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Um, you know there's a lot that can go wrong there, so being able to make it go right is just pretty impressive.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Um, some other takeaways Mr Hawk call, I would say, is now forced to be reckoned with.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Uh, watch out for Hawk call.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Uh, the pride of Orem Utah.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Just like Christian Allen.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Um, this kid has a future, big future in the sport.
- 12:47Speaker 1: So pretty cool.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Uh, it's going to be exciting to see what he can do over the next uh, over his career as he starts to take off.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Um, as well as Christian Allen might just be one of the best trail runners in the world right now, and probably is.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I mean it's just absolutely dismantled the field and take first overall in this race.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Uh, mr Christian Allen has arrived and he's not going anywhere.
- 13:07Speaker 1: So congratulations to Christian.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Pretty exciting.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Um, you know, I'll be excited to see what he can do um in racing in Europe this year.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I think he's going to be at series and all.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I'm not sure I want to look into that.
- 13:19Speaker 1: All right, so, moving on from Cirque series, snowbird want to just congratulate all the amazing men and women athletes that competed um at theS Mountain Running Champs.
- 13:28Speaker 1: So big congrats.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Moving on to the Codora Cora de la Ria Blanca Sky Race that took place a few weeks back, july 7th 2024.
- 13:39Speaker 1: This was one of the stops on the Skyrunner World Series.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I definitely did not want to gloss over this race, so I just wanted to give a quick little shout out and a little rundown on kind of what took place.
- 13:48Speaker 1: We could talk about the one through 10 on both the men and women's side, as well as talking about this race overall.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Pretty sick.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Big shout out to Rio and Benjamin Townsend, some local Colorado Springs athletes that went out to compete there, as well as some friends of the pod.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Yeah, just just a really hard race.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I mean the top.
- 14:09Speaker 1: The high point of this race was 14 435 feet, so that's like an average elevation of like 4 400 meters.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Um, the race itself was about 22.5k with about 1362 meters of vertical, so it's only about 4 468 feet for about a you know, a little bit less than a half marathon distance, but still just a bananas elevation.
- 14:30Speaker 1: So you're starting out at about a little bit over 10,000 feet and climbing up a 14er.
- 14:35Speaker 1: It's kind of an up-down race so you'll hit the high point kind of in the middle of the race and it's just a huge ascent in the first half and a huge ascent in the second half.
- 14:44Speaker 1: It looks like the Peruvians no surprise there showed up in a big way.
- 14:47Speaker 1: We can talk about the men's side.
- 14:49Speaker 1: First, jose Manuel Cuzepe, merrill Runner, from Peru, took the dub in 2 hours 3 minutes 58 seconds, followed by Luca De Pero, from the Italian, in 2 hours 6 minutes 22 seconds.

- 15:11Speaker 1: In fourth place was Joel Pumacayo, another Peruvian, in two hours 10 minutes 28 seconds.
- 15:18Speaker 1: In fifth place was Mr Daniel Antolini, a big fan favorite on the Skyrunner World Series.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Just kind of a very consistent runner Taking fifth place in two hours 11 minutes 25 seconds.

- 16:08Speaker 1: So big shout out to the men's field.
- 16:10Speaker 1: What a stacked race.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Um, you know, just just a crazy, crazy, crazy uh race just going up to 14,000 feet, just bananas, all right, there's some little more uh name recognition, I'd say um, from some of the more international athletes in the women's race.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I think that was a little bit more fun to follow along.
- 16:29Speaker 1: In first place was Karina Carciolo, the black diamond runner from Mexico, winning to overall for the women Excuse me taking the dub in two hours 37 minutes 19 seconds.
- 16:40Speaker 1: In second place was Emma Cook-Clark, the Canadian who runs for Arc'teryx, in two hours 38 minutes 17 seconds.

- 16:58Speaker 1: She's done everything.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Just a really inspiring athlete.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Anyway, hilary took third in two hours 43 minutes 11 seconds.
- 17:07Speaker 1: In fourth place was Ana Maria Pineda, of Colombia, I believe, in 2 hours 52 minutes 35 seconds.
- 17:15Speaker 1: In fifth place was Ladia Diaz of Peru, in 2 hours 55 minutes 57 seconds.
- 17:21Speaker 1: In sixth place was Lizette Natalia, of Peru as well, in 2 hours 57, 37.
