- 0:02podcast. Woo woo and the only two woos
- 0:06today, because that's crazy today.
- 0:10A moment of silence. I don't know what he's doing,
- 0:12but it can't be better than this.
- 0:14Yeah, Honestly, there's nothing better than this.
- 0:16I was, yeah. I was looking forward to
- 0:19recording this episode without Jakey specifically.
- 0:21Yeah, exactly. I mean, last couple times that,
- 0:26you know, when I've been missing and then I listen to the episode
- 0:29later, I always get roasted. So should we each just roast
- 0:31Jakey quickly? I got going out there just to
- 0:34make the, you know, keep it going.
- 0:35It's part of the tradition. Whoever's not here has to be
- 0:38roasted. I think.
- 0:39I have yet to miss an episode, so I have yet to be roasted.
- 0:42Not flex or anything, but. Very true.
- 0:46OK, give it. Give us a geeky roast.
- 0:48Jake, your team sucks. No.
- 0:50OK, I like it straight. To the point where now you say
- 0:55something he's working out right now as he's listening to this.
- 0:59And he's just like, gosh darn it, I should have been there.
- 1:02Yeah, but he would be saying actual swear words, not gosh
- 1:05darn it. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:08Man, I should have prepared our roast for that, for this.
- 1:10OK, well, you think of your roast.
- 1:12I'm just gonna. Make you more likely to have
- 1:15Jake would have the best team in the league if it was only based
- 1:18on a junior numbers. That is that.
- 1:20Is that is true? Jake is our resident.
- 1:23What is it? Would you say like a junior?
- 1:25Junior stats expert. Yeah, he's a he's a child lover,
- 1:33that. Is a very particular choice of
- 1:35words. I will not argue with you on
- 1:37that one. Let's just let it slide.
- 1:40Alright, welcome. Let's move on.
- 1:42Welcome. In After a Minute and 45, you
- 1:44are finally here listening to Bangor Management, The Fantasy

- 2:38some extra fun. But yeah, today we're going to
- 2:40cover our top 10 streamers for this upcoming week.
- 2:45We're going to go over some banger guys.
- 2:46We're going to go over some goalies to get you some starts,
- 2:49goalies to get you some quality starts.
- 2:51And yeah, let's dive in, Josh. All right, so let's dive in with
- 2:57our top ten points guys for this coming week.
- 3:01As always, it's under 40% owned on Yahoo to be as relevant to
- 3:04everyone, so at. #10 giving me a look there I was like I what?
- 3:11Am I supposed to say something? You're the numbers guy, you
- 3:14know, I'd love to see it. But the numbers cemented.
- 3:17You've cemented yourself as the numbers, Mason.
- 3:19Exactly. So, yeah, the numbers numbered.
- 3:21No, I have no idea what. That is like a Black Ops one
- 3:24reference for all my camera guys out there.
- 3:28The only game I ever played was shell so.
- 3:31Shell OK, we got a little connoisseur over here.
- 3:35Yeah, NHL 14, that was my stuff. All right.
- 3:40Yeah, exactly. I'm trying to avoid that so we
- 3:42don't have to sleep. I don't know if that's a
- 3:43believable anyways. OK, cool.
- 3:46So getting into a #10 we've got Jordan Eberly of the Seattle
- 3:51Kraken playing line. One power play, one.
- 3:54This is the one that is like, I feel like such a deep cut.
- 3:57He's 2% owned last, uh, last I checked.
- 4:01And the thing was Seattle players in general for the past
- 4:04since their existence is that they're just none.
- 4:07They all suck for fantasy. It's one of those teams where
- 4:10they spread the wealth, but there's also no wealth to spread
- 4:13so. Like, that's actually very well
- 4:15said. Yeah.
- 4:16So it's just like everyone who had a chance of having a shred
- 4:19of value just doesn't. But this year seems to be a
- 4:22little different. I think that look shout out to
- 4:25our not shout out of flashback to our rankings where Kevin had
- 4:29Seattle four and. We will roast me for it.
- 4:31But yeah, so so looking. Good.
- 4:34Like I'm a I'm a Joey Decord owner now, so I'm I'm fully on
- 4:37the Seattle bandwagon. But honestly, like they do look
- 4:39a little different this year. They look like they're sharing
- 4:42the power play time a little less.
- 4:43Like the power play 1 is power play 1 instead of more of a
- 4:45split. And they're top guys are putting
- 4:48up some points and Eberly's getting the deployment.
- 4:51He's on that top line with McCann and veneers and the three
- 4:54of them are all kind of popping off lately.
- 4:56I've really chipping in like 2 shots and I hit a game as well
- 4:59as the power play points. So I like him a lot.
- 5:01He has a four-game week this week, so it's definitely an
- 5:04interesting pickup. Yeah, I mean, in our League of
- 5:06Record, Josh sniped him from me this this this current week, but
- 5:11four-game week next week. And when you look at a guy like
- 5:14this, it's the deployment that matters.
- 5:16He's playing line 1P1 and he's averaging like close to 20
- 5:20minutes a night. So that's what you love to see.
- 5:22And if you look at last year's, he was at 1.5 shots, 0.3 hits.
- 5:26So you're comparing what he's doing this year to last year,
- 5:28and he's way more involved this year.
- 5:29So you can look at that and be like, oh, maybe it's a trend
- 5:31that it won't hold, or maybe they're just like they're
- 5:34playing different this year because last year they had some
- 5:36injury issues and everything as well.
- 5:38Yeah. So honestly, I really like this
- 5:41pic. He could be higher on the list
- 5:43if we saw more production. We had longer sample size just
- 5:46because like we know there's guys ahead of him that probably
- 5:48have more potential and for higher upside.
- 5:51But I really like this pic and he's available in literally 98%
- 5:55of leagues. So for your for your deep
- 5:57leagues out there, take a look and in your shallower leagues,
- 6:01these other nine guys are probably be more helpful, but a
- 6:04really good shot for this upcoming week specifically on
- 6:06four games. Yeah.
- 6:08And I will say just in general, general note that if you're
- 6:12looking to find your own kind of guys or you're looking at the
- 6:16trends and you're seeing guys getting picked up, a lot of guy
- 6:18put up a couple of points last couple games.
- 6:19One of the biggest indicators of if this is sustainable as Kevin
- 6:24had mentioned is on their game locks.
- 6:25You can see their time on ice for their game.
- 6:27And that is probably the biggest factor I think for if I see
- 6:30someone who put up a bunch of points and I'm like debating
- 6:33whether to pick them up or not. Obviously the first thing is
- 6:35deployment, but the second thing is the the time on ice.
- 6:38And if you're seeing someone getting, especially as a forward
- 6:40like 20 minutes plus, that's a huge indicator that you should
- 6:44pick them up. Absolutely.
- 6:46Honestly, like now we're talking about process when it goes into
- 6:49like waivers and stuff. And our job here is to give you
- 6:51guys names and kind of like take away that process for you guys
- 6:54if you don't have the time to look into it or you're not as in
- 6:57the day-to-day. But realistically, if I'm
- 6:59looking at who are hot guys that are getting picked up and it's
- 7:02like Andre Miller who happens to have like a two goal game that
- 7:06is a defenseman that is not known for points and has like
- 7:09scarce category coverage. And then you have like, I don't
- 7:12wanna poop on anybody else, but you have other podcast platforms
- 7:16that are being like, oh, hundred Milla must pick up must.
- 7:18Yeah, right now I look at that. I'm just kind of like, are you
- 7:21even watching the games or like, what do you.
- 7:22Yeah, have you. I don't know.
- 7:24I don't want to. Have you honestly like this?
- 7:25When you come? When you have.
- 7:27The wrong there. Yeah, exactly when you have the
- 7:29experience, you know or at least you're a lot better at knowing
- 7:32when these things are blips or when they're in actual possible
- 7:35trend. And to us here, I mean the
- 7:38country Miller he had literally his first game of the season.
- 7:40Not unreal game like that was such an obvious do not pick up
- 7:44in in our in our minds that because he doesn't have the
- 7:47deployments, he's never shown that in the past didn't have
- 7:51like the crazy ice time or anything like that.
- 7:52So anyways, not to harp on that too much, but just sometimes,
- 7:55like when you're looking at it yourself trying to make a
- 7:57decision, these are the kind of things that you can think of.
- 7:59Let's move on to the to the next one at #9 we've got Vladimir
- 8:05Tarasenko of the Minnesota Wild. He is currently line 2 power
- 8:09play one big star in asterisk next to power play one because
- 8:12that is what makes a difference here.
- 8:14Look, I mean, I thought Tarasenko's days of being
- 8:17fantasy relevant or done. I still don't think this is
- 8:20gonna last very long. But in terms of streamers, I
- 8:22really like him. Minnesota's power play has
- 8:24started off the season just absurdly hot.
- 8:26They're. Too good like it cannot.
- 8:28Be like, yeah, no, it's definitely unsustainable.
- 8:30So I wouldn't be looking at Tarasenko as the solution to
- 8:33your long term problems. But in terms of a four-game week
- 8:36with multiple off night games and when a power plays this hot,
- 8:39you ride the wave. So he's definitely a great pick
- 8:41up for this week. Yeah, I mean as long as he's
- 8:44power play 1, he will be relevant for fantasy just
- 8:47because of how good that power play has been clicking.
- 8:49That's pretty much what we're looking for right now because
- 8:51he's not, he's no longer the guy is going to get you like a lot
- 8:53of shots or any category coverage.
- 8:55You're pretty much just hoping for maybe one shot a game and in
- 8:59a power play point. So but he's exposed to elite
- 9:04offensive assets like he's playing on the same power play
- 9:06with Kaprizov and boldly. And those guys have been two of
- 9:09the best fantasy players since I started the season.
- 9:12So the exposure to that is, you know, obviously valuable.
- 9:16They have a four-game week, which is why he's on this list
- 9:19as well, because streaming power play points is very difficult.
- 9:22When you when you think about it, you're not gonna stream
- 9:24points from a defensive position because all those guys are
- 9:26rostered. So getting a guide just gives
- 9:30you exposure to that category or those points in your fantasy
- 9:33leagues is is rare. So when there are there, their
- 9:36name comes up. But yeah, if you by the time you
- 9:39listen to this, I mean we're recording literally Saturday
- 9:43evening, so. Yeah, we, we learned our lesson.
- 9:48We learned our lessons from from the first week when we got, we
- 9:51had Josh Norris as one of our top pickups and then he got
- 9:54injured like a day after we recorded.
- 9:56So. So thanks Norris for forcing us
- 9:59to be even more up to date. But yeah, now we're really,
- 10:01we're really recording for you guys like right before this
- 10:03comes out. So this should be as recent as
- 10:06possible. Obviously there's a couple of
- 10:08games that are gonna happen tonight between the recordings.
- 10:11Hopefully though, I feel like. Yeah, exactly.
- 10:13Hopefully no injuries happen. But yeah, no.
- 10:15And obviously one another thing with terracing in terms of
- 10:17long-term is Zuccarello is gonna come back at some point.
- 10:20Yeah, and I'd be shocked if he doesn't bump Taseko.
- 10:22So again, don't think of this as a long term solution, but for
- 10:25this week and maybe a couple of weeks it could be a really good
- 10:27pick. Up if you have a forward spot
- 10:28open to stream and you need power play points because you're
- 10:31kind of weak at that. Like he's the name that's worth
- 10:33mentioning. Yeah.
- 10:34All right, let's go to #8. And #8 we've got a Zach Benson
- 10:39of the Buffalo Sabres, the new best team in the NHL, playing
- 10:44line, one power play 1 and talking about teams that have
- 10:47just been popping off after starting the season.
- 10:50Exactly how we expected Buffalo to play.
- 10:53Honestly, even worse than we expected Buffalo to play, which
- 10:55is saying something. The last two games they won 84
- 10:58against Ottawa and 30 playing today against Florida.
- 11:02Yeah, so the Florida 30 shutout. Yeah, that's nuts.
- 11:07And yes. And Benson came in, he was
- 11:09injured to start the season, came in his first game, 4
- 11:12assists this past game, one power play assist and showing
- 11:15up. Yeah, he had a shortage in those
- 11:18four assists on the on the first game.
- 11:20So this is a guy who this is much different than the
- 11:23Tarasenko one. This could be a season long
- 11:25hold. This is he has the he has the
- 11:28name and the, you know, elite prospects status there.
- 11:32It kind it would make sense if he had a breakout.
- 11:34He has the deployment with very little risk of it being taken
- 11:37because who else is taking it and it's working and like I just
- 11:40mentioned, it's working. So they're riding the wave
- 11:43again. Another four-game week with
- 11:45multiple off nights. So this is a great pick up for
- 11:47this week and you get to see if he starts popping off even more.
- 11:50You got there early and you got to just hold on to him and if
- 11:53not then you can always drop him for another streamer.
- 11:55Yep. I mean, there's a lot of Buffalo
- 11:57guys. Benson was our favorite name to
- 11:59say. But I did want to shout out like
- 12:01Josh known as well. Yeah.
- 12:03And if you're in deeper leagues that have face off wins, I think
- 12:05Ryan McLeod is worth a shout as well because he's getting more
- 12:07eyes time. But all three of those guys in
- 12:10your deeper leagues are obviously worth looking at.
- 12:13Benson, I think is the name to highlight just because he has
- 12:15the line 1P1, so the best deployment possible.
- 12:17He's getting exposed to the top talent on the team.
- 12:20And listen, we have a two game sample size.
- 12:21It's not much, but he's a highly touted prospect.
- 12:24They were looking forward to his returning to the lineup.
- 12:26He came back and it's it's they've been super successful.
- 12:28They've scored eleven goals in two games.
- 12:31So no, it's not. And how many of those were power
- 12:33play goals? I think 5 long crazy like that.
- 12:37I know 2 today and no, I think it was like 6.
- 12:41It was 2 today and I think 4 in the last game.
- 12:43And he's Ottawa. So they've been just absolutely
- 12:46unreal. Definitely in terms of the
- 12:48rankings of the three guys you mentioned.
- 12:49Would Benson then don't then McLeod?
- 12:52But but yeah, like Benson and don't as well.
- 12:54He also has that power play 1. And Buffalo's exciting now.
- 12:57So they're really a streaky team.
- 12:59They've always been a streaky team and usually their MO is
- 13:02they start the season super hot and then they kind of fall off,
- 13:05yeah, and then completely fall off.
- 13:07So maybe you pick him up, hold them for like a month when he
- 13:10pops off and then trade him before the inevitable fall off.
- 13:13Who knows, But that's that's something to keep in mind about
- 13:15a great pick up for this week. But the guys like Benson and Don
- 13:18are the type of guys that they're young and we don't
- 13:21really know what their true fantasy output can be.
- 13:25But I think their their usefulness in your fantasy
- 13:28lineup is completely deployment based like it's. 100%.
- 13:31Like these young guys have the always the risk that get bumped
- 13:35down the line up because you know, they're not disciplined on
- 13:37the ice or you know, they make mistakes.
- 13:39So let's say Benson ends up getting lined 3P2 or line 3P1 is
- 13:44less valuable than line 1P1. So but right now that's where he
- 13:48is. It's exciting.
- 13:49They're scoring a lot of goals. They're probably not going to
- 13:52mess with this after the start of the season that they had.
- 13:54So ride with it and hopefully, hopefully these guys can be like
- 13:58season long holds and there would be great pickups, Yeah,
- 14:01and what better than a four-game week to do it so.
- 14:03Yeah, exactly. That's it.
- 14:05That's the best time to take a shot on one of these guys
- 14:06because you're getting the good schedule anyways and and it
- 14:09gives you some some leeway to see what they can do.
- 14:12Alright, at #7. We've got William Eckland of the
- 14:17San Jose Sharks line. One power play, one playing with
- 14:20Max Celebrity. Always a great place to be.
- 14:23Another 4 game week with multiple off nights.
- 14:26This is one that's less about recent production and more like
- 14:29even preseason. We were we we thought he would
- 14:31be good and I think the Sharks are struggling a bit out the
- 14:34gate. Even Celebrity has was
- 14:37struggling a bit, although I think now he's up to five points
- 14:39in in his first. Four years.
- 14:41So it's either like zeros or a great great day for.
- 14:43Multiple night, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 14:45But I mean, he's young, it's his sophomore year, so he's gonna
- 14:49have to work on the consistency. But in terms of overall, like
- 14:53end of season, the it's gonna average out to really solid
- 14:56numbers and Echlin's gonna be right along for the ride.
- 14:58So we have no, we had no doubts that San Jose was going to be
- 15:01garbage at defence, but but we know they're gonna have good
- 15:04offensive output. They have a lot of young pieces,
- 15:06including Eckland, who are going to take a step up this year and
- 15:08it's gonna be a fun team to watch for all those reasons.
- 15:11He's a good at the very least to stream and could be a season on
- 15:14hold as well. Yeah.
- 15:15I mean, I was really high on account.
- 15:17I have him in our league of record.
- 15:18I think the deployment is the biggest factor with him.
- 15:21And we saw him really kind of pop up at the end of last season
- 15:24where he really cemented himself as like a fantasy asset worth
- 15:27holding. That's more than just like your
- 15:29streamer level guy this year. He he's, I wouldn't say he's
- 15:33popped off yet, but all of San Jose.
- 15:35San Jose looks like they could be the worst team in the league.
- 15:38Yeah, like I think they. Will be.
- 15:39The Jakey have them like making the playoffs or something.
- 15:42No, nothing that crazy, but I think he might have had them
- 15:44like 6th in the division or something like.
- 15:46That no, I think Ricky was higher on them than than maybe.
- 15:50I think they were like. No, there's no getting that
- 15:53high. He's not here, so you can't
- 15:55defend himself, but that's the second best team in the
- 15:58division. But I mean, San Jose's
- 16:02goaltending looks atrocious. First of all, like Askerov might
- 16:04be the worst fantasy goalie in the league this year, which is
- 16:07crazy because we were kind of touting him as a 0G potential
- 16:12guy, but he's. On.
- 16:13Goals. But it just look at the defence
- 16:16in front of him. We talked about the defensive
- 16:19structure were like, damn. And Chicago doesn't look really
- 16:22tantalizing. Yeah, and there's this way worse
- 16:24than Chicago. Yes.
- 16:26So say I'm surprisingly they're really bad, but equal should be
- 16:29good for offensive. Yep, he's going to get you
- 16:31around two shots a game and exposure to the highest talent
- 16:35on the roster, the best deployment on the roster.
- 16:37So on a four-game week, like these are the type of guys that
- 16:40you want to stream like he's he won't get you less than 17
- 16:42minutes a night between 17 to 20 minutes a night.
- 16:45Like these are guys that are on the ice a lot that can get you
- 16:47those peripheral categories too. Yeah, 100%.
- 16:51Alright, this guy, this is my boy #6.
- 16:57And number six, we have a Zach Bolduc of your Montreal
- 17:01Canadiens. He is currently aligned to power
- 17:03play one, which is before like before like training camp.
- 17:09I had no inkling of an idea that was going to be the one to get
- 17:13that power play one spot I. Thought you mentioned it on the
- 17:16podcast at some I didn't like I started last episodes before the
- 17:19season started. You mentioned that you saw him
- 17:21on Power Play 1 and that like, yeah, keeps that spot.
- 17:23There might be something here. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:25So I started seeing some like kind of like rumors about it or
- 17:27whatever, like a week or two before the season started.
- 17:31But I mean, like in the summer, if you had asked me that, like
- 17:33when we were doing like a lot of our offseason content, like mid
- 17:35Midsummer, I would have never clocked that.
- 17:37I mean, to be fair, he wasn't on the haves until a certain point
- 17:39right when we got the trade. But like, I thought it was
- 17:42definitely going to be linear Demidov.
- 17:43But they put Bulldog there and they've been thriving.
- 17:45He's been. He had three goals in his first
- 17:47three games. He's shooting, he's hitting.
- 17:49He seems to have. They seem to really like him on
- 17:51the power play. I don't think it's a lock by any
- 17:53means, but I don't see them switching it around as long as
- 17:56they're successful. So yeah, I really like him as a
- 17:59pickup. Another four-game week with
- 18:00multiple off nights. So I like building a lot.
- 18:02And again, this could be another one of those season long holds
- 18:04if he keeps that deployment and the Haps keep being strong.
- 18:07The biggest thing with Bolduc is obviously I think the Habs.
- 18:10The Habs are one of the hottest teams to watch right now.
- 18:12If you guys watched that Nashville game where that was
- 18:16one of the best. Hudson empty, net saved with the
- 18:18feed to cool Cofield in the field, snipe and then the
- 18:22overtime winner by Cofield again after like 2 seconds left.
- 18:25Yeah, I don't wanna brag guys. Not everybody listening to this
- 18:28is a is a Habs fan like us, but it's really fun to be a Habs fan
- 18:31right now. Yeah, we paid our dues.
- 18:34It's been since like 2021. We have definitely paid our
- 18:38dues. But Bolduc, he's kind of like,
- 18:41if you look at his game log, his ice time isn't the highest like
- 18:45those. Yeah, I think most guys on this
- 18:46list have higher. Einstein.
- 18:48He's hovering around 14 to 15 minutes.
- 18:50And we just said how valuable it is to have guys that are like 17
- 18:53plus minutes a night, because those are the guys that usually
- 18:56have the best deployment. But this kid, what he's doing
- 18:59with this 15 minutes a night, and I feel like there's there's
- 19:02room to grow like he's doing, he's doing what he's doing with,
- 19:05let's say, not the most, the best deployment possible on the
- 19:09roster. I think that as he gets settled
- 19:12into the roster more and as the Habs develop and and gain
- 19:15momentum, I think he can be one of the biggest beneficiaries.
- 19:18So he has like a safe floor right now and you're getting
- 19:20exposed to season long upside. I really like this.
- 19:23Right? Like this pic?
- 19:25Yeah, and he also has the floor of the back cats, right?
- 19:28He's like chipping in with hits and with the shots and hits.
- 19:31So even when he's not putting up points, you're still not getting
- 19:33zeros. So yeah, this is a great one.
- 19:35Yeah, well, we reference back out.
- 19:37It's it's the banger categories. We're talking like shots, hits,
- 19:39blocks Pimms like he's not a Pimms guy, but he's he's
- 19:43hovering around being a double double, which is two hits, two
- 19:45shots. Guys like that, guys like that
- 19:48contributing points as well are are how you when your your
- 19:51banger leagues so. 100% double double s with power play
- 19:54exposure. Who actually do something with
- 19:55it? And I will say that I feel the
- 19:57hubs do need to figure out their power play because it's not, I
- 20:00don't think it's the best power play right now.
- 20:02And we have a lot of personnel that can be that can be changed.
- 20:05I think that's kind of like what led to this.
- 20:08We still have A1 and A2, but we definitely, it's not as strong.
- 20:12It's not a clear like last year it was like we had a one and a 2
- 20:14was like a joke. You know, this year we have a
- 20:16one, but the two could be a solid unit on a lot of like on
- 20:20like lower teams, right? We just have so many good power
- 20:23play like guys available that it kind of forces us to have to
- 20:28like close to even units. So that's always not ideal for
- 20:33fantasy value, but it's still a clear #1 so I wouldn't worry
- 20:35about that. But they do.
- 20:36I can see some shuffling happening if they don't start
- 20:39clicking on the power. Play I think Demidov ends up on
- 20:42CPU one like right now we still P2 but I feel like it's
- 20:44available that he gets to P1 and I wouldn't be surprised if laugh
- 20:47is one of those guys ends up on P2.
- 20:49It's going to be laughable, dude.
- 20:51I mean, it's obviously not going to be Suzuki, Cofield or Hudson.
- 20:53So but for now, Bulldog has that power play one.
- 20:55He's got the four-game week and is a great pickup.
- 20:59Well, Speaking of power play ones and power play twos are
- 21:02kind of balanced. This is a good segue to our
- 21:04number 5. Nice segue at #5 We have Jake
- 21:09neighbors of the Saint Louis Blues.
- 21:10He is currently line one power play 2.
- 21:13But again, in this the case of the Saint Louis Blues, both
- 21:16power plays are power play, you know, like 1.5.
- 21:19Yeah, exactly. So I will say though, I have
- 21:22noticed they've been switching up the units a bit and it seems
- 21:25like they might. Actually consolidate a little.
- 21:27Bit yeah, exactly, they might actually be moving towards more
- 21:30of a power play one power play 2, in which case it's too bad
- 21:32for neighbors. He's currently on the the two.
- 21:34But but it's very situation is very fluid, as they like to say,
- 21:39and I wouldn't be panicking yet. And if you look at neighbors's
- 21:42stats right, so far, he's just been killing it points wise,
- 21:46shots wise, hits wise, it's a really great bangers pick up
- 21:50only three games this week and and not off nights.
- 21:53So this is less of a this week focused and more of in general,
- 21:56but but definitely like neighbors a pickup.
- 21:59Honestly, very similar to Bold Duke where he doesn't have the
- 22:02best deployment on the roster. Like his Einstein will still
- 22:05hover around between 14 and 15 minutes, which like we just
- 22:08said, I'm going to go into it again, but obviously it could be
- 22:11better. But for bangers leagues like
- 22:13neighbors, a guy that hits like he's going to get through over
- 22:16three hits a game he has he's played four games for his 3623.
- 22:21So like that's that's the guy that I'm bangers like you gotta
- 22:22keep an eye on, especially when he's scoring goals and exposed
- 22:25to the top talent on the roster. So we've heard this name before,
- 22:28like neighbors has been relevant in fantasy like for the last few
- 22:31years. I think last year people really
- 22:33expected to jump on his part and we didn't get it.
- 22:35And then we saw the emergence of guys like Dylan Holloway that
- 22:38kind of like, I think slowed his momentum.
- 22:41But this year is slowly building back up like being fantasy
- 22:44relevant, especially in your bangers leagues.
- 22:46So. I don't feel.
- 22:47Like it's not ideal, but the hits and the points match up
- 22:51right now are there. Yeah, 100%.
- 22:54I will say, like you said, like last year, I expected that big
- 22:57jump from him and it didn't come.
- 22:58And it's like you said, he's kind of been passed in the depth
- 23:00chart. So honestly, I don't see that
- 23:02big jump coming from him possibly ever.
- 23:04But it's not a bad thing. I mean, it's it's not it's not
- 23:06great obviously, but it's not it doesn't mean that he's not fancy
- 23:09relevant. It just means that like he's
- 23:10more of a guy that rounds out your roster as opposed to a guy
- 23:13who can pop off and become a crazy steal.
- 23:15So not necessarily the most exciting pic, but he's gonna get
- 23:18you those back cats like really nice back at and he's gonna chip
- 23:21into the point. So he's definitely someone
- 23:22you're happy to have on your. Team and you're shallower
- 23:24leagues he's the type of guy that you stream on a weekly
- 23:27basis and in your deeper leagues that are maybe like 15 to 20
- 23:32roster spots deep in terms of like who you're starting.
- 23:35This is the guy that like you know he's probably like top
- 23:37three bottom guys on your roster, but he's still very
- 23:39valuable. You're not dropping him.
- 23:41Yeah. Exactly.
- 23:42Yeah. All right, let's move to #4.
- 23:45At #4 we've got Jackson Blake of the Carolina Hurricanes,
- 23:49currently line 2, power play 1. He sniped technicals properly
- 23:52one spot. I don't think it's actually
- 23:54that's surprising. It sucks as they switch owner
- 23:56myself. Yeah, but but yeah, no, it's
- 23:59he's been putting up really nice shots and he's been putting up
- 24:02points. He's the guy that they paid and
- 24:05you got to be following that money and he's getting a chance
- 24:08at power play one. We know Rod is no not shy about
- 24:12having not necessarily the fans consensus 5 guys on that power
- 24:17play unit. So I'm not super shocked to see
- 24:19Blake on there and getting a shot there.
- 24:21Also. They just haven't been doing
- 24:22that well. So he likes to shake things up.
- 24:24I will say though, with Rod, it's a double edged sword,
- 24:27right? So he got moved to power play
- 24:28one. You're like, that's awesome.
- 24:29Pick him up, but don't be surprised if he gets bumped back
- 24:32down at some point. But for now, he's on power play
- 24:34one. He's putting up great shots,
- 24:36putting up points, So only three games next week and and not off
- 24:39nights, but still a really solid pickup.
- 24:42Carolina is on this huge road trip right now.
- 24:46Like, they played two games at home to start the season.
- 24:49I mean, they're also, as we record this, the only undefeated
- 24:52team left in the NHL, right? Like they're gonna lose a game
- 24:54eventually. Maybe they're going through
- 24:57right now, like they played New Jersey, Philly, San Jose,
- 25:00Anaheim. So you're not really like
- 25:03intimidated by any of those opponents.
- 25:06And they're about to go all on the road.
- 25:08They just play San Jose in Anaheim on the road now.
- 25:10They're going to LA, Vegas, Colorado, Dallas.
- 25:13All this is going to be their first loss.
- 25:16So yeah, I mean, like they could realistically lose all four of
- 25:18those games. Like it's not like those are all
- 25:21top teams that can. Give them.
- 25:23I mean they. Won't but, but yeah.
- 25:24They won't. But all that to say, it's been
- 25:28really good for Jackson Blake thus far was really encouraging
- 25:31is his points and his shots and. His actually for me.
- 25:35And we've seen Rod put Blake on P1 in the past.
- 25:38Like, this is not the first time that's ever happened.
- 25:40Like he clearly has the eye for like I don't want how does he he
- 25:45he he has the rod gaze. I think that's a good way to say
- 25:50it, but. Yeah, he's one of the guys that
- 25:54ride like essentially, and it's it's tough owning the guys he
- 25:58doesn't like. We've talked about it a lot on
- 26:00the pod of the rod curse and all that, but the few guys that you
- 26:03know can evade that curse. Fact is, Carolina is right now
- 26:08the top team in the league and always the top team in the
- 26:10league. So if you could find the guys
- 26:11that could avoid his wrath, you. Know of the coach?
- 26:14Then they're they're usually going to be a solid bet.
- 26:19Yeah, and I think I think Jackson Blake, as long as he has
- 26:21that P1, that's specifically why I wanna roster him because it
- 26:25really gives him like super high potential.
- 26:27And quick tangent on switch here because fetch, I mean, listen,
- 26:30there's a lot of stretch owners out there if you're in a banger
- 26:33league specific. You like?
- 26:35Switch is one of those guys that a lot of people target because
- 26:38he got the shots that hit and the Pimms, which is an elite
- 26:40combo for bangers leagues. And then he's supposed to be
- 26:43technically exposed to the top talent.
- 26:45And we know he's a goal scorer. Like, he can score a lot of
- 26:47goals, Yeah, but right now, line 4P2, yeah.
- 26:51And The thing is they're winning.
- 26:53So I don't I don't see it's tough as fetch owner, but I've
- 26:57been getting a lot of questions over Discord and in the DMS
- 27:01about what do we do with Sketch. I just want to kind of do a
- 27:03little quick, quick tangent on this, but my opinion is right
- 27:07now it's as low as it gets. Yeah, it's as low as it gets.
- 27:10I just talked about the road trip, right?
- 27:12The biggest, the biggest reason to make changes into your lineup
- 27:15is when you're not winning games.
- 27:17So they're about to play 4 tough teams.
- 27:19If they start losing games, we're going to see Rod change
- 27:23lines up again if he ends up back online 2PP1.
- 27:27I think really for speech to be like return on draft day value,
- 27:30he's gotta be at least line 2P1. If he gets the line 1, I think
- 27:35we could really see him pop. It's really when you're playing
- 27:37with Aho and Jarvis, that's really where things happen
- 27:40because they don't really have a good line to see.
- 27:42Like it's not anything to write home about.
- 27:44So it's really the line, one that really changes things.
- 27:47But as a special, you can't drop him right now, You can't sell
- 27:50them right now because you'd be selling for pennies on the
- 27:52dollar. Will you have to do is you have
- 27:53to hope he turns it around, has a couple of good games.
- 27:57And then honestly, I'm just trying to sell.
- 27:58I'm not trying to have this headache on my roster the whole
- 28:00season like we've seen it before in the past.
- 28:03Never this early into the season I I'd be trying to get out when
- 28:07I can. If you have another manager
- 28:08that's willing to buy a low 1 you can get them for, you can
- 28:11get them off your roster for not that low of a price, let's say.
- 28:14But yeah, it's not looking. Yeah, it's not.
- 28:17It's not fun. Right, It really sucks.
- 28:18I drafted him. I drafted him despite hating him
- 28:22because I was trying to over correct in the other direction.
- 28:24I was like, OK, I don't wanna let my emotions take, you know,
- 28:27I want to try and do the logical pick in a league with Pimms
- 28:30shots and hits. He should be baseline doing
- 28:32really well with that stuff, you know.
- 28:33And so in terms of my team, the way it was looking in the draft,
- 28:36I was like, I needed to boost those categories.
- 28:38Even if he's not the points guy that everyone dreamed of, you
- 28:41know, even if you put up the stats from last year, I was
- 28:43like, I'll be happy with those back cats.
- 28:44Obviously season starts, that's super demoted.
- 28:46He's not putting up any back cats and he just looks as bleak
- 28:49as it's ever gonna look. It's only uphill from here.
- 28:52There's literally no work to be get worse than this.
- 28:55That's how we can get, that's how we can work.
- 28:57Yeah, OK, that's that's the one thing that could be worse.
- 28:59But no, honestly, there's zero chance he staying line for power
- 29:02play too. I think this is just a classic
- 29:04rod thing to do. A player plays badly, he kind of
- 29:07punishes him for it. He'll make his way back up the
- 29:09lineup. I will say my kind of hope.
- 29:12I heard zero rumors about this so I wouldn't say this is very
- 29:16likely, but my hope is let's say they keep in line for power play
- 29:20too. Maybe he demands a trade.
- 29:22He says you're misusing me. You know Rod clearly doesn't
- 29:25like him. Maybe they could make something
- 29:27work, in which case I think his value skyrockets because he is a
- 29:29really good player. He's.
- 29:31A top six forward, yeah, should be a good goal scorer.
- 29:35Yeah, exactly. So that's kind of what I'm
- 29:37praying for a switch owner. You can't drop it depends how
- 29:40shallow your league is, obviously, right.
- 29:42There's always the caveat there and depends what categories are
- 29:45in your league, blah, blah, blah, all that stuff.
- 29:47But for the most part you can't drop a guy you drafted like
- 29:50ground 678 whatever like 2 weeks into the.
- 29:52Season exactly this. Really.
- 29:53I know you can, no matter how bad.
- 29:54It looks terrible. That's it.
- 29:55I know it looks terrible, but it's a long season.
- 29:57You have to remember that there's 23 weeks, 24 weeks
- 30:00depending on your settings and it's Week 2.
- 30:03If you're dropping guy this early, that's how you lose your
- 30:05league. Someone else is going to pick
- 30:07him up and. And that's it.
- 30:08And all obviously, like my favorite thing to do honestly
- 30:12every morning is go look at waivers and see who got dropped
- 30:14the night previously. Josh just dropped Jake Debrusk
- 30:17who had 10 so. I.
- 30:20Had to go to sleep before the game ended after first
- 30:22intermission. He had zeros across the board.
- 30:24OK, Yeah. And then he went to bed and woke
- 30:26up and saw the guy he dropped got ten shots.
- 30:29On the day. It definitely sucks, but yeah, I
- 30:32know. Fully agree.
- 30:32I mean, two guys on my roster right now are guys that Jay and
- 30:35Kevin dropped. So so.
- 30:37I will say like that always go do your due diligence and on who
- 30:42got dropped for waivers in the Discord this morning, I saw
- 30:45somebody say that they picked up Brandon Hagel who got dropped in
- 30:48their league because Hagel has been awful to start the season.
- 30:52But guys, it's been like four or five games.
- 30:54Like we can't overreact to guys that you drafted so high.
- 30:56Like he's still like 95% owned. Yeah, if overreacts, like drop
- 31:00in the group chat, you know, like I love to overreact.
- 31:03I go, I'll text Kevin and Jackie.
- 31:05I'll be like, my guy, suck. My team's the worst in the
- 31:07world. I hate life, you know, but I
- 31:09don't actually drop the guys, you know, like I'd say like I
- 31:12like. The thing is once you drop them
- 31:14then it's confirmed. I got no value for my 6th 7th
- 31:18round. Pick whatever you know there is
- 31:20a. Problem to it, like you don't
- 31:21want to hold on like if we're like week 12 and your guy has
- 31:24done nothing then like that's way different than like we're in
- 31:27Week 2 and it's been like. 500% there is always a time.
- 31:30There is a right time to drop. Like you don't want to be stuck
- 31:32holding on to a dead roster spot all year.
- 31:34Week 2 is not that time. #3 on this list.
- 31:39Yeah, alright, at #3 we've got Dimitri, Veronika V of the
- 31:43Columbus Blue Jackets currently playing line one power play one.
- 31:45We saw him at the end of last year kind of pop off and have a
- 31:48really solid year. He gets to play with Marchenko,
- 31:50who is truly shown himself to be an elite player in this league,
- 31:53play with Monahan, who had an unreal season last year and just
- 31:56a really great playmaker who rents on that power play, the
- 31:59deployments just really, really great.
- 32:01And he's a he's a solid player. I've seen him.
- 32:02I watched a lot of his games last year because I had him and
- 32:05he's the net front guy on the power play.
- 32:06But he's great at just, you know, leaving it in, knocking in
- 32:09those rebounds and and yeah, he's really this is one of those
- 32:12the closer we get to the top of the list, the more I'm like,
- 32:14these are some season long holds.
- 32:16And Voronkov definitely, I mean, look, we've seen him get bumped
- 32:20off power play one. They do like to blend if they're
- 32:22if things are not going their way.
- 32:23And he's usually the first guy off him and Jenner.
- 32:26So so if that happens for an extended period of time, you can
- 32:30drop him as long as he's on power play one.
- 32:32I I think he's a season long hold.
- 32:33I I love Rankov. I haven't been our league.
- 32:36I picked them up right before right after the draft and did I
- 32:39had some guys that could put on IR and he was a guy that I spent
- 32:41some fab on, which is like I would say surprising before the
- 32:44season even started to spend fab on a guy.
- 32:46But I spent $4.00 on on Mr. Wedgie, Scott Wedgewood and
- 32:52$4.00 on Voronkov and both guys have been pretty sick.
- 32:56I think. Which one has been the best
- 32:57goalie in fantasy besides? Like he was I mean it's his time
- 33:00is coming with black would come back, but you know what money.
- 33:02Will see, will see. I'm a little a little.
- 33:04Optimistic, we talked about this.
- 33:06It doesn't mean he's an instant drop like we'll see what
- 33:07happens, but. I want to give some context with
- 33:10Brankov because yeah, so he started the season line 1P2.
- 33:14They've played four games thus far.
- 33:17He's a point per game and he's averaging over two shots and two
- 33:22hits. He has two hits in double,
- 33:24double four of these games. So already double, double.
- 33:27Now context. I've been watching the games.
- 33:30Last game they put him line 2PP1, which line 2 I think
- 33:35severely impacts his fantasy value because that line 2 is way
- 33:39worse than that line 1. Like you want to be playing with
- 33:41Monahan and Marchenko. But the good news is that I
- 33:46think they put him in line 2 because they wanted to get their
- 33:48other guys going because Ken Johnson has been awful for
- 33:50fantasy this season and he's the guy that's supposed to be like
- 33:53contributing to the success of their team.
- 33:55So they put Johnson on line 1 and then they got smacked by
- 33:58Colorado 41. And then what do we what do we
- 34:00see the very next day? Voronkov line one in practice.
- 34:05So I think it was just kind of like a test to be like, alright,
- 34:08let's see if we can get something out of our other guys
- 34:09be playing with our two best players on the roster.
- 34:12And then it didn't work and they're like, alright, we can't
- 34:14mess around with what works. Like we gotta get him going a
- 34:16different way, but we're going to keep this line one together.
- 34:19And I think that's very encouraging for wrong call.
- 34:21Like, I was a little nervous when I saw the line, too.
- 34:22I was like, oh, no, here we go. But then they put him back there
- 34:25right away, and he kept P1. Like, they want people to start
- 34:29the season. They bumped him out to P1, which
- 34:31is also good news. And he's a big guy.
- 34:33Like, don't forget, Jake is not here, but there is a size queen.
- 34:35And he will tell you Brankov is like 6-5.
- 34:37Yeah, this is a big. He's he.
- 34:40He's massive. Yeah.
- 34:42So in terms of the tallness factor, he's probably our top
- 34:44choice. Yeah.
- 34:46Absolutely. But all that to say, I think he
- 34:48has some physicality to him and we're seeing it already.
- 34:51And I think the deployment right now is here to stay.
- 34:55I, I love having Veronica of all my roster.
- 34:56If you're in a deeper level, he's a must roster.
- 34:58He's only 16% on right now. This upcoming week, I'm
- 35:01expecting big things, but these two guys ahead of him, we'll get
- 35:05to #2. Right now these guys are like
- 35:07these guys are studs, but let's go #2.
- 35:10OK #2 I will say not to, there's no way to prove this, but Kevin
- 35:15knows I prepared this doc before last night's game.
- 35:18So sorry, my voice is a bit raspy because I'm a bit under
- 35:22the weather, but but yeah, so #2 got Nick Schmaltz.
- 35:26He's got a four-game week line, one power play, one on Utah.
- 35:29I had him on this dock before he put up that Hattie and assist.
- 35:32We talked about Nick Moulton, we talked about AS.
- 35:34Well, yeah, so this is such a we've told you so if you got him
- 35:40already, that's great times running.
- 35:43Out on our Week 2 waiver show. So literally last week we told
- 35:47you guys Nick Schmaltz is one of our top three guys to pick up.
- 35:49Yeah. So if you if you listen to us,
- 35:52is already on your roster, in your in your.
- 35:56I don't you're shaking that shaking that booty right now.
- 35:59Yeah, exactly. Everybody who picked up National
- 36:02was shaking that booty after last night's game, 100% and
- 36:06look, do it again. Look, if you haven't picked him
- 36:09up, he's still not over 40% owned.
- 36:11So he's still qualifies. And I'm telling you, I mean,
- 36:14we're telling you he's going to be probably hover around 50%
- 36:18owned for the for the full year. This is like one of those clear,
- 36:21clear as day season long holds. There's zero threat to his
- 36:24deployment. He's one of the top guys he's
- 36:27getting. He's stuck to Keller.
- 36:28The two of them have that chemistry.
- 36:29They're always going to be on the same line.
- 36:31And Utah is going to be a very strong offensive team this year.
- 36:34They finally finding their groove right now.
- 36:36It feels like they started off. Slow.
- 36:38Now they're putting in the goals.
- 36:39I think the only guy who went to get a point is like Sergachev.
- 36:43Yeah, exactly. Keller would have been a good
- 36:44buy low before last game. I think now all Keller owner saw
- 36:47that four point game, they're alright, we're so back.
- 36:50But yeah, no. And Schultz is gonna be there.
- 36:52Like, obviously Keller's the guy, but Schmaltz is his
- 36:54sidekick, so he's gonna get to benefit as well.
- 36:56So yeah, this is a huge, huge buy.
- 36:58He's not a flashy name. He's not a guy that has a lot of
- 37:01let's say name recognition, but he's the type of guy that like
- 37:05he's on your roster. He's at the end, at the end of
- 37:08your roster. He's like .8 points per game
- 37:10with like over two shots a game and you're just flying and he's
- 37:14a centre right wing eligible. So he has a position flexibility
- 37:17as well. He's just a great guy to round
- 37:19out your roster. He's just so underrated.
- 37:22It's just every single year he's hovering around 3025 to 30%
- 37:27owned. And then when he'll go on his
- 37:28really hot stretches, he'll like jump up like 1015% and then
- 37:31he'll slow down a bit. But like it's just crazy to me
- 37:34how no one's like really caught on or the most most people
- 37:37haven't really caught on to just.
- 37:38This guy's close to point per game player.
- 37:41All right, number one, very exciting times for this guy as
- 37:45well. At #1 we've got Leo Carlson of
- 37:49the Anaheim Ducks line one, power play one.
- 37:51This is one of those cases where you see the start of the season,
- 37:54how it's going. You're like, there's a guy who
- 37:56you knew at some point in his career was gonna pop off because
- 37:59of where he got drafted and how high of a prospect he is and all
- 38:02that. And I think we could constantly,
- 38:04confidently say this is Carlson's breakout year.
- 38:07Absolutely. This guy was drafted to be the
- 38:101C on this team. Like I know Mctavish just got
- 38:12paid and he was there first, but Leo Carlson is the the future 1C
- 38:16for this team. Like he's going to be the face
- 38:18of this team is it's as a recording this right now.
- 38:21Like we're recording this literally right before Sunday,
- 38:23Sunday morning. So he has four games played and
- 38:28he has six points. So yeah, over talk.
- 38:31About the shots in face off wins as well.
- 38:33Yep, faceoff wins. He's hovering around 8 per game,
- 38:36which is nuts. Yeah, and then the shots are
- 38:39over. 3A game so. That's unreal.
- 38:42I mean, this is like what we expected celebrity to be doing
- 38:44this year, right? I mean, listen guys, it's four
- 38:47games, so we can only so much into it.
- 38:49I don't expect them to be a four shot per game guy.
- 38:51No, no, but he was highly drafted and he has the potential
- 38:56to really be the Talisman for this team.
- 38:59I think like he's surrounded by some pretty good, pretty good
- 39:02talent. I think the power play is going
- 39:05to be better than last year. Like these guys were excited to
- 39:08have on your roster last season and they had the worst power
- 39:10play in the league. Now this season, like don't.
- 39:13They can only get better. They can't.
- 39:15Be worse did a good job of of getting some good vets to round
- 39:18out that part. I mean, look, I.
- 39:20Tried Chris Kindergarten? PowerPoint like around like 16
- 39:23and I mean, I kind of I think I may have scoffed it a bit in the
- 39:26off season, but he's just he's stapled to Carlson on line one
- 39:29power play 1 and he's like a power play specialist at this
- 39:32point in his career, right in the.
- 39:33Past he was, I mean even always in his career, right, like even
- 39:35when he had that fifty goal season, how many of those were?
- 39:38Possible. He's one of the best net front
- 39:40guys you can have. Yeah, elite.
- 39:42First of all, playing the net front and also tipping pucks
- 39:44into the net. Like he's honestly.
- 39:46Is known to be one of the best tippers in the.
- 39:47League since Pavelski retired, he might be #1 at that kind of
- 39:50role in the league. And, and Carlson gets to play
- 39:53with him. He gets to play with Carlson
- 39:55more like. And and yeah, this is just a
- 39:57clear breakout if Carlson hasn't been snatched up somehow in your
- 39:59league. He's only 31% owned.
- 40:01Right. That's just, that's
- 40:02unbelievable. Tend to be like undervalued
- 40:06because in a lot of leagues starting two of them and there's
- 40:09a lot of elite guys at that position.
- 40:11But if you're in a league that starts like 3 or 4 centres on
- 40:13your roster like Leo Carlson, he's going to be elite for your
- 40:19team. Like this is the guy you pick up
- 40:20and he's going to be on your on your roster the whole season.
- 40:23That's it. Out of all the ones we've listed
- 40:24so far, this is the clearest season long hold.
- 40:27There is 00 threat to his deployment and he may go through
- 40:31some, you know, ups and downs because he's still so young.
- 40:34But overall, in terms of season average, then the year you're
- 40:37gonna look at that, then his like numbers and say wow, that
- 40:39was a really amazing season. I would not be surprised if he's
- 40:42the guy that's like .85 points per game, like 2.7 shots, 8
- 40:47faceoff wins and you're not gonna get any hits or blogs.
- 40:50But there's another type of player to use stream or however
- 40:52your roster for those things. Like you have money roster for
- 40:54the points? Yeah, 100%.
- 40:57All right, So those are top 10 state skaters that are not like
- 41:04pure bangers, let's say. Yeah.
- 41:06And now let's do a top five bangers.
- 41:09I think we're gonna we're gonna hone this a bit in the future
- 41:12weeks. We might make these bangers more
- 41:14pure bangers. This week we have a mix of pure
- 41:16bangers, but also some guys who might be able to contribute in
- 41:18other ways as well, so. Yeah.
- 41:20You know, we obviously had some banger guys too, right, Like
- 41:23Boulders neighbors and other guys that can contribute there.
- 41:26But I think streaming points is also very important for even in
- 41:30your bangers, right? Yes.
- 41:32But also there's something that you guys wanna see or specific
- 41:36kind of like tidbits or advice that you guys wanna hear.
- 41:40Let us know either and DMS or on Discord.
- 41:43Like shoot us a message on what you think if you want us to
- 41:45change the. Format a little bit to trying to
- 41:47figure out the best way to format this episode.
- 41:49We want to give you too many names, but we want to give you
- 41:52relevant names. So yes, exactly.
- 41:55We could talk for hours. Yeah, exactly.
- 41:58So for our top five fingers at #5 we've got Brayden Schenn of
- 42:03the Saint Louis Blues averaging 7.5 face off wins and 3.3 hits.
- 42:08This one of these names that always pops up on our bangers
- 42:10recommendations for streamers or just he could be a season long
- 42:14hold, depending on how deep your league is and if it has face off
- 42:16wins and hits. But but yeah, that's what he
- 42:19does. He can ship in points because of
- 42:21the way Saint Louis sets up their their roster of having
- 42:24other really like splitting things up.
- 42:25He gets to play with some pretty, pretty great players and
- 42:28he's just elite at face off win hits from a centre winger,
- 42:32eligible position. Absolutely.
- 42:35He's he's has the reputation to be one of those guys that is
- 42:38like a set of Percy that is one of the better bangers and his
- 42:43value kind of like really depends on where his deployment
- 42:45is on the Saint Louis team. I will say as Saint Louis gets
- 42:48stronger, I feel like he gets less relevant because he's not
- 42:52one of the. Better in terms of points.
- 42:54Yeah, but for bangers, he's elite.
- 42:57Yeah, and I feel like oftentimes these types of guys like the
- 43:00worst their points get, the better their bangers get.
- 43:03Like once they kind of their game kind of transitions.
- 43:05So I feel like I'm seeing that a bit from this year.
- 43:07Like, I'm not as enthused about his, uh, his points last shots
- 43:10as I've been in the past, but his hits have gone up more than
- 43:13what I expect from him in the. Past the best banger centres are
- 43:16guys that play line 3 and line 4 because those guys are on on the
- 43:20team to be more defensive. Like those are the lines that
- 43:23you throw out when you're not trying to, let's say score a
- 43:25goal, but more to like counter the opponents like top lines.
- 43:29And I'm thinking about like guys like Shan, guys like Corali,
- 43:32like these guys have always been solid for face off.
- 43:36They'll get you some category covers with the shots that hits
- 43:38the block. In the Jordan stall was a
- 43:40classic. Exactly.
- 43:42Alright, alright #4. #4 We've got Blake Coleman of the Calgary
- 43:48Flames. He has a four-game week with
- 43:50multiple off nights. He's been averaging some really,
- 43:52really good bad cats, including also throwing.
- 43:54In some solid like this, I feel like he's quiet because Calgary.
- 43:57Nobody thinks about Calgary. 100% but he's just one of those
- 44:00kind of bangers guys that just you pick him up early in the
- 44:02season and then he just sticks on your roster somehow because
- 44:05he just keeps putting up numbers.
- 44:06So he's averaging 2.6 shots, 2.8 hits and a block and points as
- 44:10well. So he's a great pick up for this
- 44:12week if you need bangers with the upside of points as well.
- 44:14The category beverages honestly Illite and he's very flexible
- 44:19with his roster eligibility. Pretty sure he's left wing,
- 44:23right wing and centre. So depending on your on your
- 44:26platform. But he's he's the type of guy
- 44:28that I love having on my roster. And sometimes he gets dropped
- 44:32and when he does get dropped, I feel like I mean, we played a
- 44:35very deep league, so I'd be picking them up.
- 44:37But this type of guys getting you a double double and blocks.
- 44:40And he's also good for shorties if you have stories in your
- 44:42league. So always keeping that in the
- 44:44back of my mind. Love Blake coming on a four-game
- 44:46week. Yeah.
- 44:49All right #3. And #3 we've got probably the
- 44:52biggest name in terms of Rangers defensemen over the past couple
- 44:55of years. We've got Radko Gudas of the
- 44:57Anaheim Ducks. I don't know if there's just
- 44:59like not that many bangers leagues or what, but he's always
- 45:03under 40% owned somehow. And in my mind he's like the
- 45:06best bangers defenceman out there.
- 45:08If your leagues like Pimms, hits, blocks, all that.
- 45:11Right now he's averaging 1.5 shots, 4.3 hits, 2.5 blocks and
- 45:16he's just, he's not slowing down in terms of his bangs.
- 45:18It seems there's just gonna be another, another classic good
- 45:20this year. This is one of those if you're
- 45:22in bangers league he's probably already owned, but if you
- 45:24somehow isn't then pick him up and hold them all season.
- 45:27He's only 27% on right now, like I, I refuse to believe that
- 45:31there's only like 25% of banger leagues out there.
- 45:34Yeah, on on Yahoo specifically like that's just wild to me.
- 45:37I will say, like going into the season, I was a little lower on
- 45:40Goudis and Trouba because I kind of felt like they're they're
- 45:42banger years were behind them a little bit like Trouba for sure,
- 45:45but I thought good is his ice time would kind of like get
- 45:49decreased a little bit, but he's still hovering around 20 minutes
- 45:52a night most, most games. That's elite to be able to get
- 45:56like over five hits a game and like over 2 blocks a game like
- 45:59this is a guy really nice. He's still gonna be one of the
- 46:01best bangers in the league for the for the rest of the season.
- 46:03It seems like Trouba I'm less interested in though.
- 46:06Like that's why he's on this list.
- 46:08He was a popular name in the past, but now I feel like his.
- 46:11I had him. I had him last year and it
- 46:14wasn't fun. In like years past, he was a
- 46:16great. He would get you like two hits,
- 46:18three blocks like he was. He was.
- 46:20Always more block oriented. Three hit, three blocks in the.
- 46:22Past yeah and he was in the same like tier as good but he really
- 46:27dropped off last year which is why I was avoiding him.
- 46:29But that have not stopped. And listen, like these guys are
- 46:33always susceptible to be having like that seven hit game and
- 46:36like fire blocks, like it's in the range of outcomes always.
- 46:39But I think you gotta look at the ice time and for bangers
- 46:43guys specifically, like the more you're on the ice, the more time
- 46:45you have to hit and block. More time to bang?
- 46:48More time to bang, baby. If Gus is, if Gus is rostered, I
- 46:53think this next guy is is a good shout, especially if he's
- 46:56healthy. But yeah #2 we got.
- 46:59Alexander Romanov of the New York Islanders, OK, there's an
- 47:04asterisk here because yes, he missed today's game, but it was
- 47:06a game time decision. I'd be shocked if he misses,
- 47:09like maybe he misses one more game, but but yeah, so obviously
- 47:13keep an eye out on that. But if healthy, this is one of
- 47:15those season long hold bangers. He's averaging a shot, 3.8 hits
- 47:18and three blocks. Getting three like hits and
- 47:21three blocks from a from a player from a defenseman is just
- 47:24elite in terms of bangers. I was really, I really wanted to
- 47:27target him in my draft. Kevin actually picked him over
- 47:30goodness in our draft and I think that's the right move
- 47:32because Romano, first of all, younger, he got paid in the
- 47:35offseason. They got rid of Dobson, which
- 47:37means more ice time for him and all the signs pointed to him
- 47:40being his bangers beast and he's starting off the season as a
- 47:42dangerous beast. So no surprises there.
- 47:44If healthy season long hold for bangers.
- 47:46Love Romanov. Yep.
- 47:47I mean, I saw an interview where he kind of said, like, he's very
- 47:50disappointed in his first few games.
- 47:52Like, he thought he had been playing bad.
- 47:53And the coach kind of backed him up and said, like, he thought
- 47:55the last game Romanoff played was like his best game of the
- 47:57season thus far. Yeah.
- 47:58So I think it kind of just goes to show that like obviously was
- 48:01also the human element to this, right?
- 48:03That's why I feel like Josh and I and Jake are are very well
- 48:07researched because we're not only like looking at the numbers
- 48:09and the game logs and whatever, but we're also watching almost
- 48:12all of these games too. Like such a big difference.
- 48:14I know me and Josh like we're whenever we have a free evening,
- 48:18which is almost, I don't want to say almost every evening, but we
- 48:23have stuff to do as well. But our large revolve around
- 48:26fantasy hockey. So 100% from 7:00 to 10:00 or
- 48:3011:00 PM, we're watching all of these games on multiple monitors
- 48:34and we're having the eye test as well to to incorporate into.
- 48:38Our especially early season is that if like if let's say, like,
- 48:40I mean, everyone who's doing this loves hockey, right?
- 48:43But obviously the varying degrees, like some people only
- 48:45wanna watch games that their team plays in, which is totally
- 48:47fair. Or, you know, if you're doing
- 48:50the fantasy, you only want to watch games that are fantasy
- 48:52relevant to you. But if there's ever a time to
- 48:54force yourself to watch as many games as possible, it's early
- 48:57season because that's where you'll see a guy who's, you
- 48:59know, maybe putting up kind of zeros on like their the game
- 49:03log, but then you see them play and you're like this guy
- 49:05special. And you could tell from the eye
- 49:07test. So this is the most and by, you
- 49:10know, a couple of weeks in the season, it's too late.
- 49:11It's all those guys have been snatched up.
- 49:13But that's your now is your time to kind of get that that leg up
- 49:16on other people just by watching hockey, which is already super
- 49:18fun. So.
- 49:19And I will say like it's a separate tangent right now
- 49:23because we're talking about Romanov, but like he was a game
- 49:26time decision. We don't have clarification on
- 49:28what the injury is. So obviously like if we get more
- 49:31news like we'll we'll mention in the Discord to everybody that's
- 49:34there. So if you're not there, drop
- 49:35Savala once again. Like the community?
- 49:39But it's it's really good to stay up to date.
- 49:41Like honestly, as we're recording this live, I saw we
- 49:45we, we already went through our theatres.
- 49:46But Victor Olofsson, I don't know if you saw this, Josh.
- 49:49But I did see this. He's getting P1 exposure right
- 49:53now and he's had some good words from Jared Bednar.
- 49:56So just to guide us, he's been shooting like four shots a game
- 49:59with like line 3 exposure. So if he's getting P1 time on
- 50:04this team and then I think he's gonna get top 6 minutes in the
- 50:07near future. Like this is a guy that Josh is
- 50:10gonna have to fight me for on the waiver wire, so.
- 50:13Every every time there's someone I'm excited about, Kevin's also
- 50:16excited about him. But you.
- 50:17Know Kevin keeps outbidding me to our list.
- 50:19Fly on, especially from the deep, deep league.
- 50:21Yeah, Kevin, you keep outbidding me, but at a certain point you
- 50:24gonna run out of money. So even blowing through your fav
- 50:27to start the year. So it's.
- 50:29All part of my plan. I don't regret anybody that's
- 50:31been on my roster, except maybe Ryan Hartman.
- 50:34Um, yeah, we didn't spend that much money on him.
- 50:36So it's. Funny, I did.
- 50:38Alright, let's go to our #1 Bangor.
- 50:40Number one banger. But this is also again, this one
- 50:44also could contribute points. But we've got Jason Zucker of
- 50:46the Buffalo Sabres again, four-game week with multiple off
- 50:49nights. He's been averaging three shots
- 50:51and 2.3 hits per game. And he's his ice time is low.
- 50:55So we we talked about the ice time.
- 50:56It's not as high as you'd like it to be.
- 50:57He's line 3 power play one, but he's a power play specialist.
- 51:00And when you're getting power play production from a guy who's
- 51:03also shooting and hitting, then it's just cherry on top.
- 51:08So grab him as a banger, you grab him as a banger, and you
- 51:10stay for the for the points, right?
- 51:12Yeah, and his first, he played earlier today, but including
- 51:16today in his first five games, he has three hits in three of
- 51:20the five games. So he's adding that element to
- 51:23his game because we saw it last year.
- 51:25Like Jason Zucker was one of my favorite guys that have on my
- 51:27roster because yeah, he was extremely available on waivers
- 51:31and he was getting you .3 power play points per game, which if
- 51:34you're able to stream that kind of production before we got us
- 51:37like 5% owned, that's elite to have, especially when you're in
- 51:40a deep league and really scouring the waiver wire for
- 51:42value. And this season, like it looks
- 51:44like he's really hitting more often and shooting more often.
- 51:48So that's. Supposed to be popping off like
- 51:52we. Mentioned powerplays popping off
- 51:54and clearly is working with him on it right there.
- 51:56Was successful with him there last year.
- 51:59This year it's the same thing. So I think there's only upwards
- 52:02value as well. Like if he ends up getting that
- 52:04top top 6 minutes like last year he was line 1P1.
- 52:07Yeah, I mean, earlier this year he was also like, I feel like
- 52:10he's getting jumbled around at even strength, but that P1 is
- 52:13pretty much a lock for him right now, especially with how things
- 52:15are going. So I love that.
- 52:17I mean, right now, this week specifically with how amazing
- 52:20Buffalo schedule is, I think it's a no brainer to at least
- 52:22grab one of these three names mentioned on Power Play.
- 52:25One either the Zucker, Benson or done.
- 52:27I'm honestly I'm tempted to grab more than one.
- 52:30For me it would be Benson first, then Zucker, then then done I
- 52:34think. Yeah, unless you are more
- 52:37looking for fingers then you would go Zucker over.
- 52:39Benson, not gonna get you any hits, but I think, yeah, he's a
- 52:43higher point, more points than I think Zucker has more value than
- 52:48Josh done, who may be a little more squishy in terms of
- 52:51deployment and sustainability. So that's kind of how I would
- 52:54rank those three names. Yeah, but all three of those
- 52:57guys, like I said, I'm tempted to grab don't maybe this week as
- 53:01well, even though I already have Sucker and I have Thompson.
- 53:03So it's like. It's probably overkill, but.
- 53:05On a full, on a four-game week, like there's worse things that
- 53:08you could. Do that said exactly.
- 53:10So that's our that's our bangers really dive into our goalies.
- 53:13Yes, we should. Now we're gonna talk about 3
- 53:16goalies. That should get you 2 starts
- 53:18that are less than 40% owned. So already we're kind of like
- 53:21dwindling the pie there. But we don't want to name guys
- 53:24that are probably raised in your leagues, right?
- 53:25So yeah, exactly. So Connor Hellebuyck?
- 53:28No, exactly. #3 we got. Our tours Shilohs, so they're
- 53:35playing Vancouver, Florida and Columbus and it seems so far
- 53:37that they've been alternating starts between him and Jerry.
- 53:40But Jerry is getting the last start of this week, which means
- 53:42that she loves should get the first and third start of next
- 53:44week, which would give him Vancouver and Columbus neither
- 53:47both our teams that could be solid, but neither is a team
- 53:49that scares me and she loves has been good so far this year.
- 53:52So this is a really solid for quantity, but also should give
- 53:55you solid quality. You know, you're getting
- 53:57yourself into, right, Like, Pittsburgh is not going to be a
- 53:59team that we're incredibly enthused about their projections
- 54:04and they're not this season, right?
- 54:05Like, so, yeah, I was trying to be nice about it, Josh.
- 54:08There's no being nice in fantasy hockey.
- 54:10Let's just tell them the truth. I think she loves is a great
- 54:13goalie in himself. So I think he's, he's not, he's
- 54:16not. It's not impossible to get a
- 54:18good game out of him too, right? So yeah, that's kind of what
- 54:21we're saying. What I'm seeing here, what she
- 54:23loves. OK, at #2 we've got Cam Talbot
- 54:28of the Detroit Red Wings. He has been off to an amazing
- 54:31start. He's an option, amazing star.
- 54:36He they've got Buffalo and New York Islanders on a back-to-back
- 54:39and then Saint Louis. I would expect Talbot to get the
- 54:42Saint Louis game in addition to one of the back-to-back games.
- 54:44And he's just been really good in Detroit's been really good.
- 54:46So this is one that actually is a pickup for this week, but also
- 54:49could be a a long term hold. Yeah, absolutely.
- 54:53I think watching this Detroit goaltending duo is going to be
- 54:59very interesting because the thing that really wants to win,
- 55:02everybody drafted Gibson as a starter here.
- 55:04We all thought Gibson was the starter.
- 55:06Isn't tall, but like 38 years old.
- 55:07Like, this guy is crazy. He's on his last legs, right?
- 55:10But he's saved them early season already.
- 55:13Like Gibson has looked completely awful, completely
- 55:16washed. And then Talbot came in and
- 55:17looks like a stud. So definitely switching to
- 55:21monitor. Yeah, I wouldn't like, I'm not
- 55:25like grabbing Talbot thinking he's Detroit starter for the
- 55:28rest of the. Year.
- 55:29I think it's very much going to go back and forth depending on
- 55:31who plays well, who plays poorly.
- 55:33Also tell us really old. I wouldn't be surprised if he
- 55:35got injured at some point, to be honest.
- 55:37But but for now, for this week at the very least and for maybe
- 55:40the next couple of weeks, he's putting up great numbers on a
- 55:42team that seems to be off to a really hot start.
- 55:44And you should get you multiple starts.
- 55:47Yeah, and I'm not, I'm not too intimidated by Buffalo, NY
- 55:51Islanders on a back-to-back. Like obviously we've kind of
- 55:53seen both teams be able to score early season.
- 55:56Yeah, but Talbot has been putting up solid numbers.
- 55:59Yeah, and not worried about Saint Louis either.
- 56:01No, and the top goalie for quantity starts.
- 56:05If you were in the discord he's probably already on your.
- 56:08I know I keep pimping that out, but.
- 56:10Yeah, it's really no look. It pays to be in there.
- 56:12It pays to be in there and you don't have to pay to be in
- 56:15there. So it's really just all wins for
- 56:17everyone. Fun fact, my opponent next week
- 56:20has him and actually drafted him, which makes zero sense.
- 56:23But now it's gonna cost me next week.
- 56:25So that's really fun. But it is Jake Allen of the New
- 56:28Jersey Devils. So Markstrom is out for a few
- 56:31weeks, which means Alan is the starter of a top, definitely top
- 56:35three in the division team. They're playing Toronto and
- 56:37Minnesota and back-to-back and then San Jose and then Colorado.
- 56:40This is a case of it's going to be he's going to get the
- 56:43quantity for sure. Like he's going to get three of
- 56:44those four starts. So he's going to be the most
- 56:46starts and he's going to get starts for the weeks to come
- 56:48until March return. So he's a great pick up in that
- 56:50sense. I don't love that Toronto,
- 56:52Minnesota back-to-back and I don't love that Colorado one
- 56:55either. So I wouldn't be surprised if he
- 56:57doesn't have great games, those ones.
- 56:59But in terms of quantity at least, this is the best pickup.
- 57:02I think new jerseys are really good team this season.
- 57:05I think Jake Allen is still a good goalie.
- 57:07He's only 2%. He was 5% owned.
- 57:10The injury happened, he went up 17%, is at 22%, so it's still
- 57:13available in almost 80. Percent is still so low.
- 57:16He played. He played Columbus as a starter.
- 57:18He played Columbus, Florida, mention three wins.
- 57:21Yeah, three wins. No new.
- 57:23Jersey's great and Allen's great, I'm just saying it's not
- 57:25the easiest opponents other than Salvation, but it's still gonna
- 57:28be solid. He dropped a 900 save percentage
- 57:31against Edmonton, 955 against Florida, 958 against Columbus.
- 57:35So clearly, like he still has quality in him.
- 57:38If you were in like, like I said before, listen, I don't wanna, I
- 57:41don't wanna touch our skills too much, but I was watching the New
- 57:44Jersey game and I saw Alan get ruled out with cramping.
- 57:47I saw Markstrom come in. I saw Markstrom get shaken up
- 57:50the end of the game. And then I went that I told our
- 57:53friends in the Discord like, we have some goalie, we have some
- 57:55teams that are asking for advice that are 0 yeah, 0G that really
- 57:59need goalie. And I told them, listen, like I
- 58:01just saw Markstrom look hobbled as he was leaving the ice.
- 58:06Jake Allen was currently listed as out because he left the game
- 58:09with cramps. I said I would pick up Jake
- 58:12Allen right now proactively and see what happens.
- 58:14And then next thing you know, next day we're like, OK,
- 58:16Markstrom, he's injured the day after.
- 58:18It was like Markstrom week to week and you just picked up the
- 58:21murder on the New Jersey team that looks like one of the best
- 58:23in the league. Yeah.
- 58:24So no great pickup. Yeah, he could.
- 58:27Wait to play. Him until Marshall comes back,
- 58:29he's gonna be like a top 10 goalie.
- 58:30Yeah, tell Marshall gets back. Just view him as.
- 58:32Markstrom pretty much. Pretty much.
- 58:36All right, let's get into our quality goalies.
- 58:37These our goalies were probably only gonna get you one start,
- 58:39but it's gonna be a good one. Again, under 40% owned at #3
- 58:43we've got. Just took that from me.
- 58:46Yeah, we're going a bit long on this episode.
- 58:48So yeah, we've got Calvin Pickard of the Edmonton Oilers.
- 58:53They've got back-to-back Seattle and Vancouver.
- 58:55These are both teams that well, Seattle's off to a better start
- 58:58than Vancouver, but neither of them is one I'm particularly
- 59:00scared of. But none of them are bottom
- 59:02feeders either. But Edmonton's also a really
- 59:04good team, and Pickards shown that he could be a solid goalie,
- 59:07so I like this is a quality pickup.
- 59:09Edmonton's a good team. They're playing back-to-back,
- 59:11you know, getting one of those starts.
- 59:12You can guess that better than not, they will probably win both
- 59:16of those games. They should win both of those
- 59:18games. So you're streaming a win and
- 59:20good goalie. Goalie stats #2 Kind of the same
- 59:25thing #2 we. Got Charlie Lincoln.
- 59:27Yeah, yeah, I like this one a lot.
- 59:29I mean, he's played one game this season and it was a 35 save
- 59:31shutout. So I mean, we've seen him in the
- 59:34past be a really, really solid 1 be goalie and they're playing
- 59:37Columbus and Ottawa, both teams who have kind of struggled out
- 59:39the gate. So I'm not scared of either of
- 59:41those teams when lingering playing as well as he has in
- 59:44Washington is playing pretty solid.
- 59:45So, so yeah, that's another really solid quality one.
- 59:48And the number one. Number one, we've got Esper
- 59:51Walstead again. I think we had him as a quantity
- 59:53one last week because they had two back to backs and look at
- 59:55that, another back-to-back from Minnesota and they're playing
- 59:58Utah or San Jose. Obviously San Jose's the dream
- 1:00:01scenario, but but Utah is off to a slow start as well.
- 1:00:04And it's definitely a tougher matchup than San Jose.
- 1:00:06But Minnesota's so ridiculously hot right now that that I love
- 1:00:09this as a quality pickup. Yeah, I Walter has you know, we
- 1:00:14talked about him having the potential to be a really good
- 1:00:16goalie and it's on these back-to-back.
- 1:00:18So you really get the opportunity to show you show
- 1:00:20you're made of. If he gets a San Jose game, I'm
- 1:00:22like thrilled because San Jose has like that's one of the worst
- 1:00:24things they have yet to win a game.
- 1:00:26So you know that better than now you're gonna get a win out of
- 1:00:29this matchup and that's kind of what you want when you streaming
- 1:00:31goalies so. Yeah.
- 1:00:34All right, so that wraps it up for our Week 3 waiver episode.
