- 0:11[SPEAKER_02]: So, everybody, welcome on in, as soon as I was at a post game podcast.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm myself Ryan Chapman here alongside John Hoover, John Say hello to the masses.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: Hello to the masses.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_02]: We got Carson Field here for his first show.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: You text us Carson.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: What's up?
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: What's up?
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a little sober, but I'm going to gain my ugly football atmosphere.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: But fun for you, not for the local home of fans listening to Sooner's Loose 23.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: To six and boys excited at the top.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_02]: Rip Venables has a Texas problem.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_02]: It is a official Oklahoma had two weeks coming to this game.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't play real well at last week.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: They played Kent State.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_02]: I understand that my clock and junior played against Kent State, so it's not like the offense had two weeks to prep for Texas with the healthy jomits here, but you had two weeks.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: Texas had to go halfway across the country to the swamp, got their asses kicked, their offensive line looked terrible, the defense had gashes here and there at times, Oklahoma got their quarterback back, John Mathier by Thursday night, he was upgraded to probable brim vinnables in the pre-game interview on the sideline with Holly Rose, said John Mathier, good to go, no limitations, and
- 1:18[SPEAKER_02]: and Oklahoma is unable to score a touchdown.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: Four trips to the Cotton Bowl for Brent Gennables as the headball coach in Norman.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I know he's an offensive guy, but right now he's only a defensive coordinator.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's back demoted to Oklahoma defensive coordinator because a couple years ago, two to eight circumstances, I get it.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to lose the worst, most like lapsided victory in the history of the rivalry, but,
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to win, but maybe don't lose 49 and nothing.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_02]: Gets the Miracle, Dylan Gabriel might be a magic worker as we saw him get NFL starts.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's the only way that Oklahoma's been able to score a touchdown.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: Last year, 34 to 3 this year, 23 to 6th Hoven.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's a game that Oklahoma defensively controlled in the first opening portions for the first quarter and a half or so, but Texas finally found a foot hole, cut it to 6th 3.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_02]: Vinnables can't manage the clock, binarbuckle can't manage, whoever it is, someone can't manage the clock and suddenly looked up and Oklahoma runs four plays in the third quarter and Texas season momentum and doesn't give it back.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, excuse me.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot there's a lot of confusing stuff about this particular game and one of the things that we mentioned in the post game stand-up was how does the
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: unequivocally ask any national college football writer any national podcast or any national pundit who the best defense in college football was so calm how did they go from being dominant in every series in every game you know with the occasional here they're right
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: How did they go from being dominant to getting their butt kicked up and down the field?
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: 75 yard drive, 75 yard drive, 12 place, 14 place, 14 more place.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: The players were frustrated, players were like, that's on me, I missed some tackles, that's on me, I shouldn't have jumped upside.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: We got to have better communication, I saw Kendall Daniel said, we got to have left, a few were my bads on the defense and just go out there and punish people.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: The defense that we saw the first five weeks,
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: was not here today.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: And Brent Vennables, when I asked him the question, what the heck happened after those first three series?
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: Because Texas had its way offensively with Oklahoma.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: I asked him what happened, and he said, that's on me, I let my guys down.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: Among other things, but basically he said the same thing that played it.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't tackle, we jumped off sides.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: We had penalties at the wrong time, stuff like that.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just, it's got to be aggravating for him, because here he is the defensive coordinator slash head coach.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: And defensive coordinator slash always comes second slash head coach comes second here And it's just gotta be frustrating for him because they had done so much right Before today and then Texas comes out and just expose Texas only had 300 yards offense guys.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's great if your Oklahoma's defense They got the offense when they needed it and they got third-end conversions when they needed it Yeah, it was really staggering just how the defense flip.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what's about most because it looked great early on
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a win to hold them to three points late in the first half, Peyton Bow would make that excellent play in the end zone, almost really decent pass for March Manning.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: That was a pretty good ball, liked the cross, the body throw into that.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: It should have worked, but Bowman was there.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that would be a turning point for the defense, and it just wasn't.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: You see the mistaxers, Weissner goes off, and then we finished with a little over 130 yards rushing.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: It felt a lot worse than that though.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: It felt like when they really needed something, especially in the final 30 minutes, they weren't able to get it.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_02]: But the issue though, with that big long drive is, for what we've seen this year, it's like, hey, look, Oklahoma gives up the one long drive in the first half.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: And then they find a way to get off the field, force them to a field goal.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_02]: You would seen earlier when Jammets here, through that opening intercept, which we'll get to all the Jammets here of it all.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: It was Oklahoma able to force a long field goal, Mason Shipley, who we had talked about coming to this game, the big portal addition for Texas un-tested, left a couple short from 55, kicking them into the Texas Zinzo, kicking toward the Texas Gold Post, and you're sitting here going, okay, this has been the formula at times for Oklahoma's defense this year, dominant, and then bin but don't break in with way more dominant possessions than that, who via the
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: three and a half, so that's stuff.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: The issue was that this is a heads up game, right?
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: Sark is calling the Texas offense, Brett Venomos is calling the Oklahoma defense, and the really good coaching matchups you can tell who wins it?
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: Well, okay, you saw one drive, what happens?
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: Contextes sees a little bit of momentum, Oklahoma just totally craps the bed, trying to manage the clock at the end of the first half.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: Texas gets the ball back, and
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: and they marched like you said who straight down the field this massive 14-place 75-yard drive they didn't come back around on the next possession 65 yards in 13-place that went into a field goal again another instance of that, but of that.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: of that 65 yards, 30 of it came on the ground and it wasn't just like the big Weister Ron Warris and Thomas has a bottle of it was consistent, like you were finding six-shard run, seven-hundred run, Texas was finally getting rid of this Texas offensive line.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: That is terrible, it is still an awful offensive line, it's not suddenly better.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: And then here's the killer, the back breaker.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: Texas enters the week 115115 out of 134 in the FBS on third down in the third quarter alone they go 7 to 8 Texas goes 8 of 13 on third down in the second half a lot of that due to arch arch manning was fantastic under the rest moving the pocket five in ways to just
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: Even if it was an incompletion roll out and get the ball to the sideline things like that, but in that third quarter he came alive, he had a third and eight on his, in his, uh, the shadow of his own in zone, hit another third night, later in that drive, he moved the chains on the third and seven, moved the chains on a third and five, and then I thought the,
- 7:03[SPEAKER_02]: The thing that kind of perfectly encapsulate the second half is when the game is already over.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: This is definitely the put return.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: Arch breaks it free.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: He's running down the sideline.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_02]: Probably not going to get to the end of something, but he's able to slide.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: And he has the where we're thought because arch under all the directs of this game.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_02]: Cool common collected, able to slide.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: Look over to the other side, John Mathier.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying this is like the moment was too big for John Mathier, but he was certainly like a little bit more inact.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's never been fully accurate.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: There's always been one or two throws he wants back, but I think it was clear that though he's not making his excuses for it, not 100% as far as throwing the football, but the Oklahoma offensive line, once Oklahoma couldn't establish any run, they got cratered, Texas, Peacus Galski, quick-calski, lean back, it said, okay, not worry about the running game, let's just get after it, see your material gotten a little bit of the, not necessarily happy people, he was just on the run, having to make things happen in arch.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: basically cool common collected did make the big mistake.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: John, it's here made the big mistake a couple of times and you look at it and that's the formula for losing the Texas game.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to put return.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: for preventables unfortunately that formula you had two weeks to prepare for this football game so let's let's talk about let's talk about material the thumb miracle you know I wrote about it 17 days ago he was asleep on an operating table right and was getting this thumbs sliced open dot and they're getting screws put in and getting I mean think about nails now it's a prebitriple there was a nails now Scott Scott was screws
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: So he comes out here 17 days later and he played okay for the most part, but the throws that he missed guys
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: He says there was no pain.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: He says there was no problem with the injury.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: He said there was no problem gripping the football.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: OK, so then if that's true, if we take John material at his word and say there was no lingering problems with it, maybe the rust from having two weeks off, right?
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: 17 days off, or the injury itself, or the ability to grip, or accuracy, there's no issues.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: What do we left with?
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: We're left with the moment.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: It was too big for him.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry, but that it's one of those two things.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I lean more toward he just wanted to take the blame on his shoulders.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's meant for these big moments, obviously it's the red river rivalry.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's expected for a quarterback to play a little bit worse than they're usually capable of.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: He played a lot of bit worse than he's capable of today.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: Make heroic plays.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: They do one of the other.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: There were times when you were like, okay, is this finally where John material has this red river to Legacy Drive, and it just never happened ever.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: The misses to your point, John, were really bad.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it says a lot about John material's leadership.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: Assuming it is that you just want to take the blame.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my thumb is not great, but I wanted to play in this game.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: It says a lot about his leadership, but completely agree.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: if you're a champion quarterback you don't sit here and say well guys I did have thumb surgery 17 days ago no no quarterback's gonna say that so the moment was too big for him no it wasn't the moment was too big for his thumb yeah those balls he was throwing the one he missed in the end zone at the end of the first half he had a receiver wide opening through it to the other guy they were 21 15 yards apart and so what that tells you is sorry
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's a superhero, he's a mutant for coming back in 17 days.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if he's got that, you know, but he's a mutant, Wolverine, right?
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think he was ready.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: Let's call it what it was.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he was ready.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: The option being, if you're Oklahoma, and Ben R. Buckland, Brent Benables, Michael Hawkins, was he ready?
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's fighting this game before, wrote about it.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's playing this game before, Archmany hasn't.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that makes a difference.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it doesn't.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: Well here you've been very down on Michael Hawkins.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think he especially in the fourth quarter when the game was over and the offense was going nowhere and material was getting beat down on every play dice coaches pay attention our buckle venibles whoever
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: take your star quarterback with the bad thumb out of the game and put your back up in to finish that situation.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: They took a beating in the fourth quarter for no reason with a bad thumb.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that Michael Hock and Shunner was going to be any better in this game.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's because of what we've seen from Hawkins at this point is career.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of arm talent but he gets sped up pretty quickly and I think that gets to why I believe he would not have been any better in this game as the root of the problem, which is Oklahoma's offensive line's
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: And coaching negligence to put a guy out there coming off of thumb surgery.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: What if he wrecks his thumb?
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: What if we find out the little bleeding that TV talked about?
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: What if we find out that his thumb is not because we didn't know after the Auburn game that he was hurt in the first place?
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: What if we find out Monday that he's out for the season?
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, it's the Sam Bradford Landry Jones thing from 2009.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: All over again.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: It, uh, what you got to go, I think I was going to give you a chance to win the game.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: And like, hot.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: Michael Hawke, the way this offense line play was not going to, I mean, you saw a tear hanging in there and tried to deliver balls.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Michael Hawke's going to have been Hawke's time.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, once the power term is done, the game is over.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: But what?
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: The issue that Oklahoma is having right now is a massive one.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_02]: Everything that you guys are talking about, I think it's corrected, and it leads into this.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen, like Brett Vettables has said, you don't have to play perfect to win games.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_02]: We've proved that.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_02]: Again, the Michigan game.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_02]: We've proved that in the Auburn game.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: And he's right.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: But what Oklahoma is dealing with right now is the defense has been good enough.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: that Jon material can play almost perfect on drives here and there and he can deliver a big nice long drive against Michigan uh that the ending driving suspension is the only time the office line is stepped up otherwise it's been Jon material making things happen it's been jack snorkel moves down the field Jon material sax up with the broken thumb and says we ride any boom boom boom leads Oklahoma down the field right now Jon material is being asked to be
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: And John Matthias are really, really good college quarterback.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: He's not 2015, uh, Baker, well, he's not 2017, so where he had been in that system for three years and is a higher-level higher caliber.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: He's certainly not 2018, Kyla Murray.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: And,
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: That is the root of the issue is that Oklahoma has no running game at all.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_02]: It was fully contingent on geometry against Michigan and against Auburn, the only two actual defenses they played.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: They were up today and I know the sack yardage makes this sounds worse because they got sack five times.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: So, Oklahoma average 1.6 yards per carry.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: They tried everything.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_02]: They three-java Robinson out there.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_02]: They threw Tori Blay out there.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: They tried three-snaps, J.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.D.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: uh... satay didn't follow him but he also didn't play with any physicality he then drops the the swing pass after that right now okohama their offensive identity is jomits here go in the football game and with a banged up thumb with peacus caskey and a really really good defensive line in a chaotic gap in a sphere
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: and with an Oklahoma defense and not playing perfect, geometry, hurt, is not that guy and that is an issue.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: And this Oklahoma offensive line was a hurt last year.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but coming into last year, we didn't think it was going to be any good anyway.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: And this group, they lose a Derek Simmons.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: Derek Simmons had played better in the first quarter.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: They were getting beat all over the list.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's a long term thing by the way.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: So that's just where the guy landed in the middle of his back of his calf.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's a bad spot.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_02]: They've actually talked about jumping off sides, things like that.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_02]: They tried dealing with action.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: Kumi for a couple of plays and in place of the suit.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they'll be in both of the, well, James Jackson, David Stone might need to play up.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: The book on Bill Beanbow, we always talk about Bill of Clayshare.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_02]: He tinkers, he tinkers by Texas, he favors it out.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they've got their guys figured out.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: For some, she's going to be a good player in a couple here.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: They got the other, they stink, they're bad, they're terrible.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_02]: They got out play by one of the worst lines in the, uh, yeah.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_02]: offensive lines when you just compare the offensive lines like Texas offensive line also bad also has issues playing just as good events of front in Carson Texas was able to find something and move the ball even if it was for a couple of drives on the ground to support arch manning and give him time to find his drive and play well yeah no that was that was easily the most shocking part of this game to me it's not all that shocking that ninja john material doesn't have the game of his life is first time playing in this rivalry this defense i mean
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: John said this a minute ago, but ask anybody that's watched a lot of college football so far this year, who's the best defense and college football.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: Most people would probably say, oh, you and rightfully so before this game, they just didn't look the past rush wasn't getting home, which is crazy when you think about the guys you have there are Mason Thomas, Jaden Jackson Dominic Williams, list five other guys that have been excellent past rushers for the sooners, and really there weren't a whole lot of great plays.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: only sack of the game only sack of the game uh... and they just were getting home and i i don't think it's just this yes text of softens of lines so amazing i think it was i don't know what it was i really don't that's the biggest thing that confused me here's a deal i'm gonna take this from a from a layman's angle i'm not a football coach so when we say sarq out coach vannebles that's obviously the scoreboard right um... here's what started that i thought was brilliant
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: reduce the number of not possessions that Oklahoma had offensively, but maybe the number of possessions that they had defensively.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, does that make sense?
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: They made the most out of their free possessions.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_00]: They went 75, 80 yards, whatever, 65 yards, for 13 points.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: They got the big punt return.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: But where sarx loan it down?
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: get this.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: There were 10 offensive possessions in this game.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: Two of those were Texas kneel downs by the long ones.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: 10 offensive possessions.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: So basically 8 possessions that matter.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: 8 and he said that was our game plan.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: Slow it down.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: Huddle up.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: Make sure Oklahoma wasn't getting in a rhythm.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: And the way he slowed it down, that took Oklahoma's defense out of their rhythm.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think Brent Vennables was ready for that.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he adjusted to it.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: And the players never caught on.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: He also, at that start to do a really good job of not putting arch in too much danger, not putting too much on him while also moving the pocket, because what we were talking about sacks and quarterback curries, there were so pressures, arch was under the rest a lot in the first half.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: Even though third down converges that he was really, really good on, in that third quarter, it's like, hey, Oklahoma is a beat away from hit and home, and then it's the absolute backbreaker because suddenly, arch is putting a dot right on the side by the right side.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: And then we saw something pop up today that has only popped up in like one or two plays throughout the season, but was a backbreaker, and that's tackly.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: Oklahoma did not tackle the way that they usually do.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: They were rowing to the football I thought in the running game the same way, but you look at the really, really big one to 37-yarder by Weisner.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_02]: What was the issue there?
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: Armace and Thomas hasn't.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: Dead derights in the backfield.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: Armace and Thomas, not able to make the tackle.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: It almost was,
- 17:59[SPEAKER_02]: it's spun him out of the rush lanes and then boom that there's a big thing over there you get a third down robber's for your shinnings has a guy in the shark bread and butter which is quick pass the screen passes all that stuff he has some dead derights misses the tackle robber's for your shinnings basically put the whole game on his shoulders one quick that bad after the game it's like robber you got to have an offense that can actually play football for it to be your fault as well I'd put it on billbeen those shoulders and tomorrow comery shoulders and and been our buckle shoulders those three guys but uh yeah
- 18:29[SPEAKER_02]: Where you guys almost pressing refresh traded what would stuff like that and he he was hesitated to go with Pressing but you could tell that he was talking about like yeah We were getting pretty frustrated and that was not the normal thing and and when it comes to that I mean it's hard for me to not just be like when it is is blatant as sarcasm calling the plays BBs calling the plays and one of them puts 23 points on the board.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: I can get to the circle but defense
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: not good at it.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: I asked I say a titanium the same question and when you're playing offense this defense has been carrying you guys all year they've been so great all year they they cover up a lot of mistakes when they're not like today does that put more pressure on you guys offensively and you have to press and he said well yeah I guess that could be a part of the situation so both both sides of the ball were feeling it and then poor special teams
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, let's turn it over to the special team.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, there's 75 yard touchdown on the front of the troops.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: It really is shocking that there wasn't one facet of the game that went just exceptionally well for, oh, you know, the covering to the second area had some lapses today.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: They won the field go battle.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: They won, they did.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: They thought they won the field go kill the battle.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: Sandell had a good day, which one of us picked him to be the Grosio winner.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: I just, just gonna throw that back out there.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: But besides this kicker 55 and 56 or something like that, come on, I don't have that range.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: Mason Shipley, he did not have his good of a day, but doesn't matter his team won, but that is the most shocking thing that there really wasn't one position group.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: Aside from Sandel, that had just a banner day, and Texas, I mean, there are good football team, I think, that are better than the record shows, but there are team that's flawed.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: This is far from a finished product, far from what we thought Texas was going to be.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: And they still just dominated every area.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: Did you hear what's outside after the game?
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: He said, last year, guys, we won the conference.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: Went into the championship game with a 7-in-1 record.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: He goes right now, we're 1-in-1.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: I told everybody after the Florida game, we're only 1-1.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: Don't panic.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_02]: Steve Sarkesian also went out of his way to point out that Oklahoma's not scored a touchdown in three of the four last four Red River rivalries, which again, we're getting to the point where gentlemen, you can't survive at this institution unless your Porter Moser early.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't find a way to beat the Texas long horns and Brent Venibals has outside of a
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: where I don't know if anyone felt great about the coaching in that game Brett Vennables is not even putting competitive football teams on the field in the cotton ball.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: The second half like shed onto the OU fans that hung out for longer than the punt return, but that game was over as soon as Oklahoma had to punt much less the punt return that went for a touch down.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's, it's kind of mind-bending how Oklahoma has cratered.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: Um, who are the, the three offensive coordinators, Jeff Levy, Seth Littrell.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then on our buckle, your current guy, our buckle is supposed to come in and fix all that.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: And he scored twice as many points as the previous two guys combined, which is six, not good.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let me, let me, did put 34 points on the board.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_00]: And one of those games.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_00]: So we did have his quarterback one again.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: Let's, let me, had his quarterback for one game.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking about the losses, but you're right.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: but yeah, you get to it, and it is not God well for Brett Vittables in this game, and you look at it, let's get to some, some just tried and true coaching philosophy, game management, all that stuff, Oklahoma, up six, three, and everything about this game is how do you respond from the momentum changes, right?
- 22:04[SPEAKER_02]: Every coach, every year, doesn't matter what coach is talked about, listen.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_02]: Virtually zero red river rivalries are gonna go a hundred percent one teams direction right there's gonna be big swings Can you pick yourself off the mat and and deal with that?
- 22:17[SPEAKER_02]: I thought Texas is a really really good job how many times have we come into the cotton ball and one team puts out a stinker first half and it's all about look up at the school board at half time
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to go into lock room.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to breathe.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to tell everybody this one is about as poorly as possible.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: We're only down one score, whatever it is.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: For Texas, it was six to three because they kicked the field goal.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: Oklahoma gets the ball back.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_02]: What was it?
- 22:37[SPEAKER_02]: Four and a half minutes left there to in the first half and they hadn't consistently moved the ball, but you're sitting here going, okay, they need your two things.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: They need to first stop, make sure they don't go a quick three now and give Texas the chance to come down and take the lead.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: Go two for one.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: but they also need to go and put some points in the board themselves.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: They've got one time out, they're moving toward McField, lead to the two-minute timeout, Oklahoma's on the 45-yard line.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_02]: Two-minute timeout, one timeout in their pocket, and they've got Tate Sandel who's already been great in this game.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: They just need to get to about the 35 probably to feel decent about their
- 23:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's 6-3, what a deflating moment that might be for Texas because they just have their big explosive play.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: You hold to a field goal.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_02]: If you can go up, maybe even grab a touchdown, go into locker 13-3, get a stop, then you're the one putting the pressure on.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_02]: And Brent Vennel's after the game says they were trying to leave no time for Texas.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: What an idiotic state, but like, yeah, duh, you're trying to score with no time.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: So there's nothing wrong around it before it, right?
- 23:37[SPEAKER_00]: There's no four minutes left.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: There's nothing wrong with them around.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: A form of an offense with a form of a sudden here's what happens time out two minute time out first and 15 on the OU 45 QB keeper for geometry first and 15 QB pass right to D on Berks first down picks up in bounce
- 23:55[SPEAKER_02]: And you get a toy blade like rush, up the middle, geometry, throws a pass that was not a first down, that also, not on the sign line.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's tackled with 29 seconds of the year.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_02]: One time out, the first mistake was to sub, at all, whatsoever.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: Because the second you sub, we'll know this.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: Everything stops, Texas gets a chance to sub, so we're going to move.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to move back.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: Clock, anyway, Oklahoma does, I know that what they said, they did not realize that this was happening 29 seconds, elapsed all the way down to 10 seconds, that's when they burn their time out.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to be able to said they were trying to get one more pass to the boundary, see if they can take a shot, if not, they're going to kick a figgle, that one more has to the boundary is supposed to come up like 25 seconds up, not with 10 seconds up.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: because that gave them only one chance to take the shot.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_02]: So now they've already bungled this anyway.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then it was compounded by the fact that Ben Arbuckle called a great play.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: Deon Berks was wide open over the middle of the field.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: John Mets here, it looked like I don't know if he was just not confident in it.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: Initially, because he had to the football one extra beat, basically.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_02]: Then through it, and instead of delivering the kind of strike, when they need it to Deon Berks, it ends up being an interception.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: The Inzone, Texas needs it out at 6.3.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_02]: And then they stayed on the field for every play, but four, the Texas offense did.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: just like Barks was on one gold post and the DB was on the gold post and he threw it to the DB like whoa just didn't come off his hand ride or something it is it has a stum hard sound bad about though there obviously like it regardless of how you'd manage the clock if geometry had thrown that ball you if you had called the time out of 29 seconds because you had gone through the situations or whatever you wanted there didn't want to spike them out third down
- 25:33[SPEAKER_00]: But or work the sidelines.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know Texas was trying to keep you in balance, but you don't throw over the middle with one time out If you don't sell it for 29 seconds, you can do whatever you want no matter what Texas is Submit or not.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: They got in Texas a couple times with some tempo early.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_02]: That was a breakdown.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: It was an absolute total I'm mitigated disaster in clock management And it's that kind of stuff that happens to Brent Vendibles in the cotton boat.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: He's gotten out coach three out of four years.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah
- 26:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then the second half like you said, Texas just comes to life, converts a bunch of third downs, Oklahoma had five rushing yards in the second half.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: It was a game, it was a tight game, they had five rushing yards in the second half.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: They averaged per rush, 0.4 rushing yards per game.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: That includes the sacks.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: But you should be able to include Saxon and come out with a bottom line ugly total of two and a half yards three yards per carry, not 0.4 and you know, obviously you get behind you have to abandon the run and the Sax start piling up, but that's I'm sorry, there'll be no then our buckle, the mark I'm already whoever 0.4 yards against Texas in the second half rushing the football.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: That's inexcusable.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's really bad.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: I mean,
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't on board last year for the disaster in the back game was, but I feel like this this year's installment might be more disheartening than losing by 30, what was it 33 points, 31, 31 points, just considering how broken that team was, this is a number six OUT team that came in and got what in the second house, I mean, it's just a lot of it's just befuddling, you know, I'm having trouble coming to words with a lot of it because
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: this is also shocking compared to what we saw against Auburn and Michigan and who knows what those two teams were in that being but both quality football teams quality the ephences playmakers on offense that they had to mitigate and did a good job doing so.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: So it really is shocking.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_00]: Well I'm looking at a couple of scores right now.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: Auburn has taken Georgia down to the final
- 27:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's close as we look at it right now, it's Georgia leads 1310 in the fourth quarter.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: I believe.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, four minutes left in the game.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think and USC took a paddle to Michigan today 31 13.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe what we're seeing is Auburn and Michigan weren't really that good and they come to Norman Oklahoma where it is a an absolute
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: Tempest to try to play that game in that setting and the fans do a great job with both of those games took jacks and Arnold out of the game took Bryce underwood out of the game
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: And you put those two things together.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: Also, it starts looking like, well, maybe number six was a little high for this Oklahoma football team.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you're seeing a cast across college football.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_02]: Indiana goes to Austin today at Winds, Penn State.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: This is your hour for the season.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: You did a Western study.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't study Auburn, I'm sorry, Oregon.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: And Indiana, we haven't broken that down or anything.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_00]: But that tells me right off the bat that Auburn kind of, I'm sorry, Indiana kind of took the fight to Oregon.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_02]: what we saw out here today was Oklahoma take the fight to Texas for three possessions and then give it right back to them and say here you can have the whole the whole fight and like it was we haven't seen that well it what it what it felt right defense in particular what it felt like in and this is where we're getting to john materials performance and and john material uh comes out his first interception was i thought just a flat out overthrow of jaren
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: throw before missing high into the right salient over Oklahoma's able to force a fuel goal attempt that was a miss on that drive Wasn't really a it like a back break of Prokel home.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think that the one two burks, which was just a flat-out miss That was not high into the right.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what that one was That's a thumb-related one.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that there a tear wasn't super on time with a lot of his stuff He seemed like a half-beat slow, which He has a tail.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he hesitated a lot and I thought that that was rusty
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I don't know if it's a little maybe a little bit rusty, I think it's the first time he's been under this kind of de-rass behind this offensive line a little bit, and then his final introduction was another one that behind Isaiah Satanians, it pops up off Satanians' hands and Texas is there to catch you.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that what you saw is that when it mattered, most Texas is able to rally and make the place.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_02]: How many times did we see the first possession of the game?
- 29:59[SPEAKER_02]: Jared Canick just flat out drops the football.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: A couple of possessions later on, a first-down play.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_02]: Isaiah Satanians drops the football.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if everybody has
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't going to be like a 15-yard completion and it wasn't going to be this big like 30-yard touchdown or anything like that, but those are the drive starters, right?
- 30:14[SPEAKER_02]: Every tempo opens, Oklahoma's running tempo really tells you, get the first first day out and that's what you really kick into gear and what you saw as Texas, able to steady over and over again.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_02]: And that third quarter, they came out a half-time settle down, took the fight to Oklahoma and I thought you saw a defense that was in some ways reacting to seeing that John materials not 100% themselves through trying to make the big play.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_02]: The little things Robert Spurgeon, he was talking about a Kindle Daniels was talking about the my bads like you mentioned earlier That is something where I think it kind of became some some coverage, but it was Kindle Dolby who he had the wrong coverage on the opening touchdown, right?
- 30:50[SPEAKER_02]: Because Peyton Bona immediately looked at him and was like what the heck was happening to start with the third quarter and then suddenly you know the tackling issues popped up I think what you saw is for a defense that had been so steady in Responding all year long
- 31:04[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you saw the first little crack in that kind of invincibility for the defense and it I don't know if it was a direct result of geometry or not But I think you saw the Oklahoma could not cope with the pressure here in the second half day and that's concerning because we've seen Texas these last couple years or two of the last three years excuse me come out and play bully ball we've seen Texas Not this season, but the last three years the two times they were heavy favorites and supposed to just bury Oklahoma
- 31:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know early turnovers or the fake field goal in 2022 stuff like that and then they came out and just said We're supposed to stop a mud hole and you and that's what we're gonna do in then today They absorbed the early energy from Oklahoma's defense over came that and put together the game plan That's a very concerning because Texas has been the mentally stronger team in this game.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_02]: They've been the more physical team
- 31:54[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt in the four-years-old event levels, I think, and they've also been the health of your team.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_02]: In a bunch of these, when you talk about quarterx specifically, so that's not necessarily anyone's fault when it comes to the shot that you'll be able to get to TCU, and it's not preventable small that Jon material is coming off a thumb injury, but this is yet another offensive line that comes in banked up and could not hold up to the physicality of Texas.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: And that's not!
- 32:17[SPEAKER_00]: Got to cut it here to the University of Oklahoma doesn't not with the six games they've gotten left starting next week That's how Carolina that's that's the beginning of an extremely brutal stretch five of those six teams are ranked on the top 14 right now So good luck with that this game I've been watching it since late 70's and I've been covering it since 2004 So 22 years in a row.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_00]: I've been in the stadium.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: I've covered this game.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: This game has a funny way of
- 32:45[SPEAKER_00]: making good players, do weird things, and making unexpected, unknown, run of the mill, jags, just a guy, players, do heroic things, and unexpected things, and spectacular things.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I think we saw a little bit of that today on both sides.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: I agree, and it's just...
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think this game is weird, like things like that do happen, but it's alarming in the sense that this offense from Texas was maybe more inconsistent coming into this game than any of the six teams left on the schedule for all you even, even with a so-so South Carolina squad.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: They still have a guy named LaNora Sellers who's probably going to be a top 10 pick in the NFL at some point.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's not one bad offense, they play the rest of the year, and that's scary.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: The defense has to figure it out.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: just the drop off from the first five games today was like we've talked about it was staggering and that he has to be sharpened up really quickly before this back into the season because it could get rough.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: D-Fence was not great in the second half today but
- 33:51[SPEAKER_02]: I believe, I still believe in the defense that this is a group that can figure it out.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: This is a group that can rebound things like that.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: I do not believe in the softensive line.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_02]: I do not believe in the softensive line whatsoever.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this is a group that couldn't come together, can't run the ball.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: There's no point this year when they've played a living, breathing actual defense where they have successfully looked like a group that can run the ball without the quarterback being a really dynamic explosive piece of that.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: And you saw today that they were having trouble.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_02]: Last vlog we've not seen this defense actually go or at this office like excuse me actually legitimately go on the road We saw some procedural stuff today and and I thought geometry or was a lot calmer under pressure as far as just trying to make things happen But I think you saw today with the five sacks.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_02]: They were just moments where he couldn't make that happen His thumb is not magically going to be perfect starting next week going on the road to South Carolina anything like that I did not think this office of mine is going to get much better and I think that you're going to see okay
- 34:45[SPEAKER_02]: for Oklahoma.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_02]: This is going to be it the rest of the way.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: There's going to be a ton of pressure on geometry and dad just don't think that's a formula to like consistently winning over.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_02]: Does does that mean they go into South Carolina went?
- 34:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah absolutely.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_02]: Can they can they be an all-miss team that only beat Washington State by 3 today 24 or 21?
- 35:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah absolutely like I don't think this is a oh my gosh you look at it and Oklahoma's not going to be able to win a game the rest of the year and anything like that but when you go game by game by game this was the big question for Oklahoma coming out of that Auburn game.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_02]: We knew that they were banged up there which
- 35:15[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe some lack of creativity in the run game because the new their offensive line couldn't move left to right things like that The limiting factor was gonna be could this offensive line get good enough To have consistent performance is over and over and over again and the sexy defensive line.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_02]: Is it really good?
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but I also think some of the stuff you saw today is just
- 35:35[SPEAKER_02]: If Oklahoma is going to be this one dimensional, I don't think it takes an elite defense to bottle up Oklahoma They couldn't really move Kent State on football when we talked to the I said it was vibes of the temple game a year ago Where it's like yeah, you ran for a hundred about 85 Congrats, you want a cookie like you were supposed to go out there and run for 350 and with Derek Simmons We'd out know the status at him like you mentioned earlier
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't see this thing getting much better up front.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_02]: No Logan howl in today.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_02]: That was you just look back.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like go ahead to come in, but it wasn't like, oh my gosh, all this pressure just can't delete through and came from the right side.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: Because Texas didn't have to like pick and choose what matchup they wanted.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: They were getting into the back building pressure.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: John material.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_00]: They were doing what preventables talked about.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_00]: We just went to the man in front of you.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_00]: You know, just beat that guy in front of you.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: Let's play man on man for a while.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's what Texas was doing.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_00]: They were overwhelming.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: They'll come off in some line.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: And then we've said, Texas got a really good defense.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to back that up.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's like you said we examine the numbers against against Kent State, and like Ford State had like 600 yards rushing against Kent State, Oklahoma had a hundred and what was it?
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: Almost 500 yard treasure in Ford State versus 185 for Oklahoma.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, come on, we've known something like this was coming, it was brewing for this offense, and I don't know what their solution is moving forward.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's, it's definitely a little bit, I mean, not a little bit, a lot of bit concerning just at this point in the season that they have it, they haven't found a true identity on the line.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, there is talent in the backfield.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: You look at Tory Blidlock.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever he gets space, he looks like a really good running back, and I think he's going to be a really good running back for the sooner or so.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what did he get?
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: One can you tonight?
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, one carrying it was it was not one carry.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_02]: It was uh 11 Yorker.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_00]: He had one 11 Yorker.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_02]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.

- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: He had 11 Yorker
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: material like we talked about didn't have a great day.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: There's no way to sugarcoat that but I don't know many quarterbacks that would have had a great day with how underdress he was very little time.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: It would have been hard, I mean Michael Hawkins, with new power, I don't think either of them would have had a great day.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: It would have taken an awesome quarterback fully healthy to have a great day behind that we saw from the line.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_00]: What Oklahoma needed today was not a great day from its starting quarterback with an injured thumb or a heroic performance from its backup quarterback.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_00]: They needed their defense to stand up and play like their defense is supposed to play.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: They needed the special teams to be better than a 75 yard partner turn.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_00]: Right, a guy broke like three tackles before he ever got going.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, you put those two things together.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_00]: What chance did the offense have to get today?
- 38:28[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think the most concerning bit is that part of what makes all you Texas so much fun, such a fantastic game, the atmosphere all that stuff, is that truly, this is one of those games every year where it feels like you can go through the years and pick out one guy that maybe they're not a total unknown or things like that, but who had jellil for going supernova a couple of years?
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: who had given Gabriel running for over a hundred yards a couple years ago.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: There's always some unlikely heroes and Oklahoma got that early think about their second scoring drive You had Carson Kent who's not been a huge piece of the passing game have a big time catch on third-down where he gets smoked and holds under the football Later on that drive you had Giovanni Gibson with the most no no no no no no yes play of this whole thing where it's a wide receiver pass It's initially not there text plays it really well
- 39:15[SPEAKER_02]: they get to Giovanni, Giovanni's going down.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_02]: I know that he played high school quarterback, but you know what you don't want your items to even do, throw the ball when he's going down.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's a completion.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_02]: All that stuff just has power, sure.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_02]: They're they're able to get out there and they show us the most heavenly look I've ever seen from an Oklahoma offense, which is Jaden Jackson and David Stone and Jaden Jackson's basically lining up at Titan and running an insert and just delivering a car crash at the point of attack.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_02]: It took the guy's soul.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: They pick it up on fourth and one.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_02]: What do they do?
- 39:43[SPEAKER_02]: They have to settle for it.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_02]: Like you got those performances early.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_02]: I thought Centennial of really lively early.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_02]: Centennial look like that guy that was like, man, he's not CD land, but we're going to look back.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_02]: You guys remember the Isaiah Centennial.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you Texas.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I felt like early.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_02]: And then the offense had a total dud in the second half.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_02]: And when you can't seize that momentum.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_02]: It felt like Oklahoma was the underdog today, like a big underdog, not this, you know, lines move it back and forth.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: And all Texas had to do with what stand it was stand it.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: And then the cream rose to the top and the third quarter.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: And it's been a trend in this game.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_02]: And as we know, this game can define careers of Oklahoma.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: And Brent did what's as a lot of season left.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_02]: But he's been awful.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_02]: Just flat out awful against Texas.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's not gonna fly?
- 40:25[SPEAKER_00]: Carson shot from the sidelines with the camera and with the big camera.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_00]: and he got some great highlights, check those out on the website, uh, sooner or later, I'll come soon or later, I'll say it.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'll come, oh, and we were talking about this.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_00]: I said at some point tonight, Oklahoma had highlights.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_00]: They had plenty of highlights, offensively.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: They did some really good things.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_00]: And then second half in the show.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: And part of it was the defense, you know, uh, being on the field for 14 plays, 12 plays, 13 plays.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_00]: those three straight drives.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that kind of took the life out of the offense.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it should have or could, or if that happens frequently.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_00]: But it looked like the offense went from being on the verge of punching in a bunch of points and stacking up some really good possessions, too.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: we don't know what to do.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: We can't run the football.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: We can't protect the quarterback.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_00]: We can't catch the football.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_00]: We can't throw the football.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it looked like the offense became from this playmaking.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, guys doing all kinds of different stuff to nobody knew what to do.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody had any answer.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_00]: So weird.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think most of those good highlights you were talking about were first half of the year.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: I know I saved more videos from the first half and the second half.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it just seemed a lot more crisp, but they weren't giving the touchdowns to account for them.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_01]: But they were moving the ball down the fields where I thought it would be this, okay, the winning team is going to only score 20 points, but it's going to be like 20 to 17 come down to the wire.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: And that just didn't happen.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_01]: It was staggering that.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_01]: I found myself shooting more under throws, over throws, runs like over one yard, negative three yards.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: And it was, yeah, it was just rough day.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: had every making of a red river rock fight early.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_02]: One coaching staff adjusted.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_02]: The other did not.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_02]: And that is what happens.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's the difference now.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_02]: I guess the good.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if this is good news or bad news, good news or bad news, but about a minute and a half left in Baton Rouge, LSU's up 20 to 10 on South Carolina.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_02]: That's a team that came off the by themselves.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_02]: Let's write that click on that double by.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_02]: Again, Oklahoma had two weeks to prepare for this football
- 42:23[SPEAKER_00]: We're here in today that Oklahoma the briffinables said no, we're not going to over-prepare for Texas.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to prepare for Kent State and we're going to do our work, our usual work during the by week.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: I heard that a couple of times today, if that's true and the reason being, well, you don't disrespect the game by all of it, and no, you just disrespect the Texas long horns.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_00]: If that's true, then you just respect the Texas in the rival, the chief rivalry game of your entire 12 game season.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_00]: you're not preparing for Texas in the by week ahead of Kent State.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_00]: You're not preparing for Texas during the week of Kent State.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's coaching malfeasance if that's true.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, the whole point, and I know that like the coaches have to do the coach stuff, the whole point of like the we prepare for every team is the same.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: It shouldn't be that it's no.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_02]: We prepare for every team like it's Texas.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_02]: you put in the same energy every week like it's Texas and they've come out and this is a Texas team.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_02]: You knew they were going to be fun with them.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they like matched that early.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: They were not able to sustain and the championship strength to defend the standard crap like it.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_02]: The standard for this program would have written it.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_02]: Give me a break.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to hear that until you can
- 43:30[SPEAKER_02]: Go and you got to win like nine games before you were in that thing back and the good news for Oklahoma is their five games of the way there So they've taken care of business, but we've not seen any of that and you know the players like we don't at the stairs These guys don't know what the stairs.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_02]: None of these guys have been a part of an Oklahoma team that's been to the Cosmo Plan
- 43:47[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's not, that is not what this group has experienced, they've experienced disappointment, embarrassment, or they've transferred in for some more hours, because this Brett Vettables, again, for Brent Vettables a couple years ago, to win 10 games and not make the big 12 tournament, or a big 12 championship game is a once in a decade, like you win 10 games and beat Texas and you're not a participant in Arlington, that happens once a decade, but it was Brent Vettables.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_02]: And the other two seasons were,
- 44:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's first since 1998, first since 1998, and now you've come your best season by far, everything looks good, your defense looks like finally, the defense you promised, and you get run over in the third quarter, and the fourth quarter gets Texas.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's inexcusable for preventables in Oklahoma.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_02]: Good news for them, though, is that they can bounce back next week.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you who has almost been to the,
- 44:34[SPEAKER_00]: to the college football play off former Oklahoma quarterback Chandler Morris he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he won he's played in 2020 was this freshman year they went to the playoff in 2019 so that close there's a course playing for Virginia now but there's a time in a while was one of yeah there's a time John where like we would talk about uh
- 44:50[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not a far away good time as a couple years ago that any player in college stockball who has won a national championship either plays for Oklahoma or transferred for Oklahoma.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_02]: We are now like to the end of it like any player that had played for Oklahoma team that went to a convo a plan was like, ah, they're gone.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_02]: They're done so.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's not good.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_02]: Not good.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_00]: They got about even Chandler Morris.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for a college football play off for Oklahoma.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's a long.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's been.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_02]: Good news for Oklahoma, though.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_02]: Still tells you in playoffs.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_02]: Still plenty of road to go, and likely we've covered throughout, you know, sparingly throughout the pod.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's up and down all throughout college football, but this Oklahoma offensive line's got to get fixed, and they got to figure out a way to not put 100% of the soft fence on Jamith's ears.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_02]: Or more is to see them.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_00]: See since it's not over, we've talked about this.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_00]: You lose this game, you've got one conference loss, you've got six opportunities, not a gauntlet, you know, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, you know, Joe Lewis waiting in the wings to pound your brain.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_00]: You've got six opportunities to get back in the discussion for the SEC championship and college will play off, I can't believe I just said that after having watched this.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_00]: But hey, fix your run game, get busy, get your offensive line coach in there, get your run game fixed,
- 46:01[SPEAKER_00]: Figure out who your best five blockers are because it's it continues to be a mix and match no matter who the who's healthy and who's not Don't put too much on your quarterback get back to playing defense the way you were and you know what maybe you do beat South Carolina and Columbus club in next week and you know what after that maybe you start beating teams like Tennessee Maybe you start beatings and Alabama and in Tuscaloosa and also and you look up and you're in a good shape for the season So like Brent said after that he said a lot more eloquently than I did he said we've got a lot of season left to play
- 46:32[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of season left to play with.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying it's going to turn to last year.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm, I've, Brent Benables has to, like, Brent Benables has to, like, I obviously could prove to us that he can go and win some of these games before we get to you.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of season left from Brent Benables.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_02]: And he's not done that.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_02]: And, uh,
- 46:47[SPEAKER_02]: Look, it's part of why I come into the season, I've picked them to go eight and four and to win that, went out through the first month and coming to this Texas game.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_02]: The fact of that was that things had changed.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_02]: Texas had that look good, offensively against Ohio State.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_02]: A week ago against Florida, I know they come in real in and with all this motivation to get things right and soccer, feeling frisky in the post game.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_02]: You have to be able to handle that stuff and this was one of the worst offensive lines that you're going to see in SEC play Let's just back to the matter that they played against and they couldn't out to will them now You're going to go to Columbia good luck with that you better learn how to tackle a North Celle if you couldn't tackle or I think that tackling a North Celle is going to go
- 47:24[SPEAKER_00]: Orally, one of the players said, like, he's bigger than I thought or something like that.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's big and strong.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_02]: Our Mason said that he's an obvious.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_02]: It was a Kindle.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was Kindle.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's Kindle.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_02]: He's a Kindle.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_02]: For R.S.J.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: Our Mason Kindle.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's big and strong.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt, boys.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_02]: This is the SEC.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's what's happening.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_02]: That's what that's supposed to be.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_02]: So, Oklahoma, 236 losers, Brett Vittables, embarrassed in the cotton bulb yet again.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_02]: He's used to that long face, he's used to, Steve's our key, he's used to waiting on Brett Vittables as the worst part.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_02]: Steve, as I was walking by, because the press conference gets over, we talked to players on the con course, and you guys stick around for the very end of the press conference, I'd walk it by Steve, and Steve was, you get to, he was just like, look at the watch, like, can this get going?
- 48:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like, we need to get that thing.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_00]: He was sent to Texas.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_02]: Although he would like Brett Vittables to get extended.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, he was snickering over there at times like
- 48:20[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe this is happening again, kind of thing.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it looked like, I'm just saying.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's what the, by the way, welcome to the new press box.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_00]: New press box is great.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_00]: South end of the front, it's in South end of the Cotton Bowl.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_00]: We're no longer in the danky sweets.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_00]: We're in the actual brand new press box.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_02]: It was fantastic.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_02]: So, we'll, we'll go back, we've only seen this game once and it happened live, obviously.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_02]: We'll break it down, we'll have more thoughts for you on Wednesday, per usual.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_02]: Probably, everyone will have taken a deep breath and all that stuff, I'd just like you all to remember
- 48:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like, when you all, you know, start thinking, play out for you and all that stuff.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_02]: Let's take this and just have to throw out and figure out a vocal, but you can get a win there before you start to rebuild that thing.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_02]: OklahomaSuiters on Asight.com is the website.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_02]: I wrote about John McTier, John McTier, no excuses today.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_02]: He said it was all mental 100% I would say.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_02]: It was all on your offensive line.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_02]: John McTier posted you here.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_02]: Throw us, but that story is up on the website.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: OklahomaSuiters on Asight.com, a tier show is a blame for the offense.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a little short of the blame for the defense.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_02]: That's what it was.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_02]: Who wrote about it?
- 49:18[SPEAKER_02]: And care about the PFS.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's all that stuff.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_02]: Don't ever get that bad boy up there, and you know the drill.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_02]: Sunday, time to contact, come to the website.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_02]: Open my soon as I'm on the side.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_02]: I come to the watch of you, the videos, who's YouTube page John and Hoover.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_02]: Media will be back in Norman Monday night.
