- 0:03What is going on everybody?
- 0:04Welcome.
- 0:05We've got a lot of people talking on
- 0:07the internet and we're going to respond.
- 0:21It's lunchtime.
- 0:22Yay!
- 0:51What is going on, everybody?
- 0:52Lunch with the Clydesdale time.
- 0:56I am here solo because Corey Leonard has
- 1:00a customer,
- 1:01and he's got to make that coin so
- 1:03he can support the family,
- 1:05and he's doing all that.
- 1:07But hopefully his phone call ends.
- 1:10He can jump on with us later in
- 1:12the show.
- 1:14But so excited to have the rest of
- 1:16you here with us.
- 1:17Looks like we have a little bit of
- 1:19one-upsmanship in the chat.
- 1:23Lito, member for nine months.
- 1:26Then Kenneth the Lap comes in with member
- 1:28for twenty-two months.
- 1:31And then Jay Birch jumps in for member
- 1:33for thirty-one months.
- 1:36Jay Birch, man,
- 1:36you're almost at three years as a member
- 1:38of this channel.
- 1:41I'll tell you.
- 1:42I'll tell you what.
- 1:43You guys don't know how much that little
- 1:46three dollars and ninety nine cents is or
- 1:48six ninety nine, whatever level you're at.
- 1:51We try to keep the the intro level
- 1:53at the lowest that YouTube will allow us.
- 1:56Three ninety nine.
- 1:57That's all it is.
- 1:59If you hit that join button and join
- 2:00the channel,
- 2:01it allows us to get this show up
- 2:04and running every single day and pays for
- 2:08all the platforms that we have to pay
- 2:10for to get that to happen.
- 2:12And then Corey,
- 2:13but he's actually part of the family now,
- 2:15thirty seven months a member.
- 2:18Damn.
- 2:20And we get some OGs in the house.
- 2:23OGs in the house.
- 2:26Rep in Penn State, of course, always do.
- 2:31Hopefully we have a better season than
- 2:32last.
- 2:33At least wrestling gave us a little flash
- 2:37of genius.
- 2:39But yeah.
- 2:43Vicky made it so I can stop stressing
- 2:45out.
- 2:46Yeah.
- 2:46I always wonder, like, is she okay?
- 2:48Is she okay?
- 2:50Do I need to check on her?
- 2:54She's made it, so I'm good.
- 2:56I'm good.
- 2:58Anna Shoup, hi.
- 3:00Shanna Bunch, always a pleasure to have.
- 3:04Daniel Arnson.
- 3:08Yeah, Corey's doing the workouts.
- 3:10Yeah.
- 3:10Jody must not have a customer.
- 3:12She's here.
- 3:17Aku Black Dragon.
- 3:20Great having all you guys here.
- 3:23So anyway,
- 3:24what I want to do first is yesterday
- 3:27we talked about the amputee and Mark
- 3:31Phillips did send me a video so I
- 3:33can show you like how he is able
- 3:35to be a cornhole player.
- 3:39But while being a quadruple amputee.
- 3:44So this is his video on Instagram.
- 3:49And this is how he throws the cornhole
- 3:51bag.
- 3:56So there is that this is the guy
- 3:58who allegedly, uh,
- 4:01murdered a passenger in his car with a
- 4:03gun.
- 4:05And then if we go back here,
- 4:07you can see how he can shoot a
- 4:09gun.
- 4:15So you're here.
- 4:16He is loading a pistol and firing it
- 4:19at a range.
- 4:25Now,
- 4:26the only question I still have is how
- 4:29he's able to do this and still drive.
- 4:35Joseph Ramirez,
- 4:36he lived ten minutes from me in Southern
- 4:39Maryland.
- 4:41Wow.
- 4:44So he did all this while driving a
- 4:46vehicle, shot a man,
- 4:49and then drug him out of a car
- 4:51into a yard.
- 4:52So, yeah.
- 4:59Um, if there's a will, there's a way.
- 5:02And then Joseph and Kenneth both are like,
- 5:04it was a Tesla autopilot.
- 5:06Okay.
- 5:08There we go.
- 5:10There's your answer.
- 5:15Exactly.
- 5:16Vicki, such a wild story.
- 5:17I, uh,
- 5:18I still didn't believe it was true.
- 5:22um when i saw it and but now
- 5:25it's all coming together it's a true story
- 5:28um can't believe that all happened um jay
- 5:36birch says does he have any prosthetics i
- 5:38i don't know i didn't see anything on
- 5:40his instagram where it showed that or any
- 5:43of his activities um and daniel's like i
- 5:47don't know how
- 5:51Uh, he's dragging a body.
- 5:52I don't either.
- 5:56Uh, Corey Leonard,
- 5:56my wife has a Tesla model three autopilot
- 5:58doesn't work that well.
- 6:06Uh, and not to blame the dead guy,
- 6:08but how fast can this guy's draw be?
- 6:11Yeah.
- 6:12I would think there was some warning
- 6:13signs.
- 6:13I think Corey said yesterday,
- 6:15it's not that hard to get out of
- 6:17a car.
- 6:17Like you just pull the handle and fall
- 6:19out.
- 6:20And that would have been a better option
- 6:22than getting shot and killed in a car.
- 6:25But yeah,
- 6:26we don't want to blame the dead guy.
- 6:29Although he could have done something
- 6:31about that.
- 6:33But yeah, what a wild story, man.
- 6:36And with this week,
- 6:36the week I am having at work,
- 6:38like I needed that release or whatever it
- 6:42was to kind of dig into that story
- 6:44and talk to you guys about it.
- 6:46Because it's been just,
- 6:48it was a long week yesterday and it
- 6:49was only Tuesday.
- 6:50Today hasn't gotten much better.
- 6:52I'm just hoping Friday gets here soon.
- 6:57So adrenaline and desperation can be a
- 7:02hell of a motivator.
- 7:03I am sure.
- 7:06Yes.
- 7:06And there were other people in the car.
- 7:07There were other people in the car.
- 7:11Jody says, hey, hey, hey,
- 7:12maybe the victim was blind.
- 7:15There you go.
- 7:17There you go.
- 7:19Everything has an explanation.
- 7:23Just just ask.
- 7:25Ilsa or whatever her name was that got
- 7:29four-year ban yesterday.
- 7:30We got to see that live on the
- 7:32show yesterday.
- 7:35I wanted to talk about that a little
- 7:36bit.
- 7:38And that is,
- 7:39so she gets a four-year ban.
- 7:43Do you think that for doctoring videos,
- 7:47lying, putting up illegit scores,
- 7:51do you think a four-year ban is
- 7:52appropriate for that kind of cheating?
- 7:57And I do, I really do.
- 8:03I think if you've gone to that many
- 8:05lengths to cheat the system,
- 8:08then four years is appropriate.
- 8:10I would have been okay with two.
- 8:12I would have been okay with it,
- 8:13but I'm really okay with four.
- 8:16I think if you go to that,
- 8:18that many lengths to cheat the system,
- 8:21you are
- 8:25you are deserving of like the max penalty.
- 8:30So, um, so I'm glad that, um,
- 8:35echo black dragon and Daniel Arnston said
- 8:38this cheating is cheating.
- 8:41So I don't know if you saw this,
- 8:43but Toby Buckland made a post,
- 8:50and it was shared by the Barbell Spin,
- 8:53where he said if cheating is cheating,
- 8:58then he knows firsthand that athletes in
- 9:01camps have known what workouts were at the
- 9:04CrossFit Games and have been able to train
- 9:07for them for weeks before them.
- 9:11while other athletes don't know those
- 9:13workouts.
- 9:15And if you go down the road of
- 9:17cheating is cheating,
- 9:19should those camps and should those
- 9:22athletes who get leaked workouts ahead of
- 9:25time,
- 9:27should they be given a four-year ban as
- 9:29well?
- 9:31Now,
- 9:31that's a question posed by Toby Buckland,
- 9:34and it was shared by The Barbell Spin
- 9:36on Instagram today.
- 9:45joseph said we talked about it last night
- 9:47on the glintons uh trevor bockenmeyer got
- 9:50the same four-year ban for looping his
- 9:52dubs workout um hexi lover cheating is
- 9:56cheating as many cheats as he did as
- 9:59she did permanent band is a deterrent for
- 10:01any future cheaters i think a four-year
- 10:04band is a pretty big deterrent that takes
- 10:07a good chunk of your prime away
- 10:16Jodi wonders who imposed the band.
- 10:19Was there like a committee or was it
- 10:21Dave?
- 10:23I really don't know.
- 10:28yes kenneth i he did toby buckland did
- 10:31not name names but i am pretty dog
- 10:34on shore he was referencing the chad
- 10:37workout where people knew the box set up
- 10:41um beforehand and i know i've heard the
- 10:45crossover double unders the first year
- 10:47they were introduced in
- 10:50There were a handful of athletes who had
- 10:53the beaded rope that made those easier at
- 10:56the games and others that did not.
- 11:06Understand if they act on that knowledge,
- 11:09then they are technically cheating.
- 11:11If someone sends me info I shouldn't have,
- 11:14that isn't on me,
- 11:15that is on the sender.
- 11:25What about the OPEX weight diameter
- 11:27scandal?
- 11:28I don't remember what happened there.
- 11:29I don't either, Mark.
- 11:36Yeah.
- 11:36See,
- 11:36that's where you get to like shades of
- 11:38cheating, right?
- 11:40That is like, because the OPEX incident,
- 11:43they had the proper weight on the bar.
- 11:46They just had smaller plates so they could
- 11:48jump over it easier for bar facing
- 11:50burpees.
- 11:53And they didn't like doctor video.
- 11:54They didn't go to all these lengths.
- 11:57So I think anytime you say cheating is
- 11:59cheating,
- 12:00you pin yourself in a corner for things
- 12:04that may not quite be as bad.
- 12:08But then again,
- 12:08maybe people do think it's as bad.
- 12:14So should we pin ourselves in that corner?
- 12:17Should we say that all cheating is
- 12:19cheating?
- 12:20And if you are caught cheating,
- 12:22then you are up for a four-year ban,
- 12:25whether it's PEDs,
- 12:27whether it's doctoring video,
- 12:28whether it's, I don't know.
- 12:31I think it could be a slippery slope
- 12:35if we do that.
- 12:41Uh, Carolyn Prevo in the, in the chat,
- 12:43two thousand nineteen.
- 12:45Many people knew the first event.
- 12:48Twenty twenty two people knew the yoke
- 12:50carry clean and deadlift wad.
- 12:55And this is from someone that were was
- 12:57at those two games.
- 13:04So I get what Andrew was saying earlier
- 13:06about Andrew Sten,
- 13:08that if you are sent the information,
- 13:12that's not on you, that's on the sender.
- 13:14But the minute you take that information
- 13:17and you use it to get an advantage,
- 13:20then it's on you.
- 13:30I don't know.
- 13:32I think Mark Phillips,
- 13:34understand that begs the question,
- 13:35are you now obligated to share with the
- 13:37world?
- 13:38It's a gray area.
- 13:39I don't know if you're obligated to share
- 13:41it with the world.
- 13:43I think you're obligated to report it.
- 13:49But maybe not your responsibility to share
- 13:51it with the world.
- 13:57John George asks,
- 13:58do you believe her coach had no idea?
- 13:59I don't.
- 14:01I also think whoever signed her sheet and
- 14:03verified her score should be held
- 14:05accountable.
- 14:06Not sure if you discussed this or not.
- 14:07Just hit here.
- 14:09We didn't discuss it today,
- 14:10but we have discussed it on the Sunday
- 14:11night show as well as earlier in the
- 14:14week that anybody who signed off on that
- 14:18workout and said it was good should be
- 14:22held accountable as well.
- 14:34If you receive info on the workout,
- 14:36you absolutely should share it.
- 14:39Level the playing field.
- 14:40I think it's your obligation to share it
- 14:42to CrossFit HQ or whatever competition
- 14:46organizers are running the event to say,
- 14:48I got this leaked information.
- 14:51I did not use it.
- 14:52I'm just letting you know that someone is
- 14:54out there sending it.
- 15:08Ken Walters wants to know if Cowboy and
- 15:10I broke up after yesterday's TIFF.
- 15:13We did not.
- 15:14We did not.
- 15:14We just needed a break.
- 15:16So we're on a break.
- 15:18No.
- 15:18He actually has some work responsibilities
- 15:22that he's taking care of.
- 15:23He was hoping to be done in time.
- 15:25And he said he would jump on if
- 15:26he gets done within our time period.
- 15:28But, you know,
- 15:30you got to make the money for the
- 15:32family.
- 15:38Yep, once you receive info,
- 15:39no one should have.
- 15:40It's on you to share it with HQ.
- 15:47Scott,
- 15:47she cheated multiple times in the same
- 15:49workout to prove she didn't cheat.
- 15:51I agree.
- 15:51I have no problem with the suspension for
- 15:53her,
- 15:54but I think it should also go to
- 15:55anybody who signed off on her workout.
- 15:58Anybody who said it was legit, judge,
- 16:02affiliate, whoever signed off on that,
- 16:05whoever validated it,
- 16:06and whoever signed it as a judge should
- 16:09be responsible as well.
- 16:18An NDA is just a piece of paper.
- 16:20Joseph, I will say this.
- 16:22An NDA is only a piece of paper
- 16:24if you don't act on it.
- 16:26If you are an actor in the Marvel
- 16:29universe and you leak movie information,
- 16:33that movie studio will come after you hard
- 16:36over that NDA and they will win.
- 16:40It is the threat of action on the
- 16:43NDA that is the important part.
- 16:47If you have someone sign an NDA and
- 16:49then you don't hold them accountable for
- 16:52the NDA,
- 16:53then it's just a piece of paper.
- 17:06Daniel says, yep,
- 17:07because you can't guarantee all your
- 17:09competitors will get the info.
- 17:10Send to HQ, let them handle it.
- 17:20Teresa, if you missed it,
- 17:23it wasn't a tiff.
- 17:24We just disagreed on an aspect of
- 17:30quarterfinals and the workouts yesterday.
- 17:32Okay.
- 17:34It was just a good, healthy discussion.
- 17:36No tiff.
- 17:48Open scores are automatically verified,
- 17:50though, to be fair.
- 17:52Right, but that's what I'm saying.
- 17:55If it was done at an affiliate, though,
- 17:57and you are responsible for that,
- 18:01If you invalidated it,
- 18:03then I think you're in the clear.
- 18:05You can still invalidate.
- 18:08And it's your responsibility as the
- 18:10affiliate manager to invalidate any scores
- 18:13that you don't feel are correct.
- 18:24Yes,
- 18:24there were more people complicit in the
- 18:26lie.
- 18:31Speaking of not cheating,
- 18:32don't cheat on your sleep quality.
- 18:34Get your third Z.
- 18:36Go to thirdz.com backslash Jazzy.
- 18:39Or as Vicky says at checkout,
- 18:41use the promo code Jazzy to get that
- 18:43good night's sleep.
- 18:44I got almost nine hours of sleep last
- 18:46night, people.
- 18:47Nine hours.
- 18:50Third Z knocked me out cold.
- 18:52I woke up this morning feeling refreshed
- 18:54and recovered,
- 18:55and I am super stoked that I got
- 18:57that much sleep.
- 19:01And you can too.
- 19:02Just go to thirdz.com backslash jazzy.
- 19:05Get that non-melatonin sleep quality and
- 19:08as well as that collagen protein recovery,
- 19:11and you will have a better day as
- 19:15much as I do.
- 19:21Daniel says, I welcome any Marvel leaks.
- 19:29Paige Smith, you don't have to validate.
- 19:31Right, but you can invalidate.
- 19:34The validation is automatic,
- 19:36but you as the affiliate manager can
- 19:39invalidate.
- 19:45Uh...
- 19:58So there, there we go.
- 20:04Corey and I's fight was nothing compared
- 20:07to Jamie and Scott fight.
- 20:09I will agree on that.
- 20:11I will agree.
- 20:14I agree.
- 20:17So along with this cheating stuff,
- 20:19I don't know if you guys all saw
- 20:21this, but Ben Smith had something to say.
- 20:28And this, whoop, wrong one.
- 20:34This is,
- 20:35I'll read what Ben Smith says over here.
- 20:38I'm hearing lots of conflicting opinions
- 20:40on quarterfinals.
- 20:41I don't know why I have to say
- 20:42this, but please read the highlighted.
- 20:47One,
- 20:49you need a video if you're going to
- 20:50be in a spot to move to the
- 20:52next level.
- 20:53Top two thousand for men and women.
- 20:55Top four hundred age groups or older.
- 20:59and top three hundred age groups younger.
- 21:01And anyone kind of close could backfill,
- 21:04could be lots of people.
- 21:06You also have to prove you did it
- 21:08starting Thursday at three p.m.
- 21:11Eastern.
- 21:12Don't leave it in CrossFit's hands and
- 21:14play the victim.
- 21:15They could ask anyone in a spot for
- 21:17a video.
- 21:18Yes, people will probably cheat.
- 21:20It's unfortunate.
- 21:22Don't be that person.
- 21:24Hiller fit to point Oh,
- 21:26we'll be out there doing his job.
- 21:28Now, you know,
- 21:29thanks and have fun out there.
- 21:32And the post is here.
- 21:34There's the highlighted video.
- 21:38Upon request,
- 21:38any athlete with a qualifying score on any
- 21:40quarterfinal workout may be required to
- 21:43provide video of their performance.
- 21:45If they cannot provide a video with proof
- 21:48of that,
- 21:48the workout was conducted within the given
- 21:51score submission window,
- 21:52they may receive a zero score.
- 21:59So that is in the rulebook.
- 22:02That is in the rulebook.
- 22:05And so at any point,
- 22:06CrossFit can demand that you submit your
- 22:09video.
- 22:18So there it is.
- 22:19Ben Smith talks.
- 22:21He said, don't play the victim.
- 22:24There it is in the rule book.
- 22:26Don't not video your stuff.
- 22:28And when CrossFit asks for it and you
- 22:30don't have it,
- 22:31you don't have any opportunity to play the
- 22:33victim because it's right there in
- 22:34writing.
- 22:42I understand, Lito.
- 22:43It does say that,
- 22:44but you get Adrian Bosman saying in the
- 22:46CrossFit Games podcast that you literally
- 22:48don't need a video.
- 22:50I know.
- 22:51I know.
- 22:52Adrian is a person who wants to believe
- 22:54in humanity will do the right thing.
- 22:58And that's noble.
- 22:59And I love that about Adrian.
- 23:02I love hanging out with that dude.
- 23:05He is that.
- 23:06He lives that.
- 23:07And it's all about honor and
- 23:09accountability in yourself.
- 23:12But the reality of the world is not
- 23:14that.
- 23:19So, there it is.
- 23:27Ben Smith, the man, the myth, the
- 23:35Also,
- 23:35there's been a lot of talk about a
- 23:37lot of the quarterfinals not taking people
- 23:40from the quarterfinals.
- 23:43Semifinals live in person,
- 23:45not taking quarterfinalists.
- 23:47Only four of the ten are doing that.
- 23:50And Magic City put this out yesterday,
- 23:52which I found was pretty interesting.
- 23:56A statement on quarterfinals.
- 23:59With no required video submission for
- 24:01score submission,
- 24:02a lot of athletes are questioning how much
- 24:05the leaderboard really means.
- 24:07We've also seen the conversation around
- 24:09semifinals treating quarterfinals like a
- 24:11box to check instead of something that
- 24:13should actually matter.
- 24:15At the Magic City Semifinal,
- 24:17quarterfinals matter.
- 24:19We are inviting athletes based on their
- 24:21placement on the quarterfinals leaderboard
- 24:24We believe quarterfinals matter.
- 24:26We believe testing yourself matters.
- 24:28We believe earning it matters.
- 24:33So they are one of the four that
- 24:36are using the quarterfinal leaderboard to
- 24:39invite people to their live semifinal.
- 24:48And I believe that's what that is saying.
- 24:50Yeah,
- 24:51we can complain about there'll be
- 24:53cheaters.
- 24:53There's no video submission.
- 24:55There's none of this.
- 24:57But if you want to be invited by
- 25:00Magic City or by the other three
- 25:03quarterfinals,
- 25:05the other three semifinals that are
- 25:08inviting based on the leaderboard of
- 25:10quarterfinals,
- 25:11you're going to have to do the workouts
- 25:13and you're going to have to finish high.
- 25:22I think all they're saying, Mark,
- 25:24is the substance here is it's not just
- 25:28a box to check to be in the
- 25:30top two thousand to move on.
- 25:32They are using these results to pick you
- 25:36to come to their event.
- 25:38So if you're just going to loaf through
- 25:41them and get in the top two thousand,
- 25:43you may not get picked to go to
- 25:45their event or one of the other three.
- 25:49They're saying you need to give it your
- 25:51all if you want to be selected because
- 25:53they're going to start from the top and
- 25:55move down the list to select who gets
- 25:58invited to their semifinal event.
- 26:08SEMA, that's what it seems like.
- 26:10The games are half invitational now.
- 26:12And I hate that.
- 26:13I hate that more than anything else this
- 26:16season is that semifinals can invite
- 26:19people based on past performance instead
- 26:24of how they are performing during this
- 26:26season.
- 26:27That is the big,
- 26:29that's the big miss in the season for
- 26:31me.
- 26:32I can handle a lot of the other
- 26:34stuff because I think it'll sort out in
- 26:36the wash.
- 26:38But what I cannot handle is that you
- 26:41are getting an invite to an event and
- 26:43you haven't done anything this season to
- 26:46earn it.
- 26:49That's what I hate.
- 26:51That's what I hate.
- 26:52And I get what JR said and I
- 26:54get what Mayhem says about you need to
- 26:57promote the event with athletes.
- 27:00I get that.
- 27:02But there's got to be a better way.
- 27:04You should not be basing it on previous
- 27:06performance.
- 27:08A season in every sport that I follow
- 27:10and watch is all based on how you
- 27:13perform during that season.
- 27:15To have a season start with what you
- 27:19did last year to get an invite is
- 27:22ridiculous.
- 27:25And I think Dave even said that in
- 27:27his weekend review.
- 27:29And hopefully because of that,
- 27:32we can change some things up.
- 27:44Um,
- 27:48What happens if someone who is previously
- 27:50invited to a semi but then doesn't have
- 27:52a score which would qualify for semis?
- 27:55So what you're asking is if they were
- 27:57invited to hypothetically mayhem and then
- 28:01they don't get a top two thousand score
- 28:03in quarterfinals, what would happen?
- 28:06That is at the discretion of the event.
- 28:10I know that Syndicate Crown is only
- 28:12inviting people that are still eligible to
- 28:15get a spot for the games.
- 28:19So if you are not in that top
- 28:21two thousand, you lose your invite.
- 28:23If you've already qualified through
- 28:25another means, you lose your invite.
- 28:28They are only allowing people to come and
- 28:30play who can so that their podium,
- 28:34their top three will move on to the
- 28:36games.
- 28:38There's no if then else statements.
- 28:42If you finish top three at syndicate,
- 28:45you're going on to the games.
- 28:47Super simple.
- 28:50And whether you like that rule or not,
- 28:54I love it for the simplicity,
- 28:56and I love that they're embracing,
- 28:58let's make this easier to explain.
- 29:01It's very easy to go to the syndicate
- 29:03ground and say,
- 29:04if you finish on the podium,
- 29:06you're going to the games.
- 29:08Everybody else, sorry about your luck.
- 29:12When you invite people who aren't
- 29:14eligible, then it muddies the water.
- 29:17And then if then else statements filter
- 29:19in, and then it's not just a direct,
- 29:22you can qualify this way or that way.
- 29:34The workout times are annoying.
- 29:35March, March, March, March, March, March,
- 29:39March, March, March, March, March,
- 29:50I think that is like on the priority
- 29:52of things that need to be fixed down
- 29:54on the list.
- 29:55So I was going to pose this question
- 29:57to Corey and I'll pose it to you
- 29:59in the audience.
- 29:59And that is,
- 30:00if you were king for a day and
- 30:03you could change one thing about
- 30:05quarterfinals, but only one thing,
- 30:10you could only change one aspect of
- 30:15quarterfinals.
- 30:17What would that change be?
- 30:26And mine would be everybody needs to post
- 30:30their video publicly online.
- 30:45And it looks like a lot of people
- 30:47are saying video.
- 30:49But Daniel has an interesting one.
- 30:51Go from twenty five percent to ten
- 30:53percent.
- 30:59Paige Smith says, when it's announced,
- 31:01you can go.
- 31:06Mark says,
- 31:06delete quarterfinals altogether.
- 31:12I don't like that idea, Mark.
- 31:13I'm telling you.
- 31:22Hiller Fitz says, let me write them.
- 31:29Yeah.
- 31:31If I could make one change to semifinals,
- 31:33it would be that nobody gets an invite.
- 31:34You have to earn your spot.
- 31:41Shana's on board for Hiller writing them.
- 31:49Delete them,
- 31:49go back to the Open Regionals games.
- 31:52I'm okay with them being there as part
- 31:55of the yearly test,
- 31:56but let's call it the fifth week of
- 31:59the Open.
- 32:01There's a cut after week three,
- 32:03there's a bye week, week four,
- 32:05and then week five is the fifth week
- 32:07of the Open where you are now not
- 32:12only being tested on the workouts,
- 32:14but that you can handle the volume of
- 32:17four workouts in a weekend.
- 32:21And then from that,
- 32:21you go to semi-finals or regionals or
- 32:23whatever we're going to,
- 32:24we want to call it after that.
- 32:29And then that way,
- 32:29all the scores are together and you can
- 32:32have a seven test open.
- 32:37A seven test open, which is more complete,
- 32:40more robust and more balanced for
- 32:43everything.
- 32:52And I'm actually okay with the ten
- 32:54percent.
- 32:56I think that's fine.
- 32:59Unless HQ's telling me they need the
- 33:02twenty percent,
- 33:03twenty-five percent for money.
- 33:05And if they would just admit that to
- 33:07me,
- 33:08I'd be okay with the twenty-five percent.
- 33:16But I don't think it should be called
- 33:18quarterfinals.
- 33:19I think it should be a five-week open
- 33:22with week four as your bye week,
- 33:24week three as a cut.
- 33:36Hexy Lover,
- 33:37do you think the new CrossFit board is
- 33:38open to suggestions like this?
- 33:41I think Dave is already thinking in that
- 33:43direction because he's talked about
- 33:45carrying over the scores from the open to
- 33:47the quarters.
- 33:49He's talked about liking the regional
- 33:51format better.
- 33:53And actually,
- 33:54if you go back to a regional format
- 33:56and you are forced to compete in your
- 33:58region to make the games,
- 34:01then the promotion thing is out.
- 34:03The promotion excuse for the events goes
- 34:07out the window.
- 34:12And you get a very simple start to
- 34:17finish season.
- 34:30That's what I think.
- 34:31I think that people are already heading
- 34:32down that road.
- 34:34Is it the people that matter?
- 34:35I don't know how much power Dave has.
- 34:38If Dave has some power,
- 34:40I think we're looking at maybe a new
- 34:42season next year that goes back to more
- 34:44that type of thing.
- 34:47But I don't know how much the board
- 34:49is letting him have.
- 34:50Without a CEO,
- 34:52the board is more in control,
- 34:55or they've announced somebody kind of
- 34:57interim without publicly saying it.
- 34:59There's so many questions about that whole
- 35:01structure.
- 35:01I just don't know.
- 35:13I do like that, Mark.
- 35:14I do like the split leaderboard from start
- 35:16of the open and you either say you're
- 35:19competing or you're just there for fun.
- 35:26And I do, and I, yeah.
- 35:37So.
- 35:41That's interesting.
- 35:43That's interesting.
- 35:51So the last thing
- 35:59Velomania,
- 36:00you're implying that some athletes at the
- 36:02Invitational Semi won't qualify.
- 36:04Who at Mayhem isn't going to qualify?
- 36:07What you really want is the selection
- 36:09should be based on ranking from
- 36:11quarterfinals.
- 36:15I do.
- 36:17I'm not saying they're not going to
- 36:18qualify.
- 36:19I'm not saying that.
- 36:23It's just a bad precedent to set.
- 36:26You have a CrossFit game season and your
- 36:31ability to get to the championship level
- 36:34should be based on everything that happens
- 36:37in that season.
- 36:39And by inviting people in and giving them
- 36:41a spot at prime semifinals based on what
- 36:46they did last year is just against the
- 36:49rule of sport period.
- 37:03I'm not saying that Dallin getting an
- 37:05invite to Legends means he's not going to
- 37:08qualify for the games, and it's a mistake.
- 37:12That's not what I'm saying.
- 37:13But what I am saying is he got
- 37:16that spot early and knows where he's going
- 37:20and got a prime semifinal that a lot
- 37:25of people want to go to based on
- 37:27what he did last year instead of this
- 37:29year.
- 37:45Daniel says, if the NFL did that,
- 37:46the Kansas City Chiefs fans would even be
- 37:48more insufferable.
- 37:49Can you imagine the NFL saying to the
- 37:54Seattle Seahawks,
- 37:56you won the Super Bowl last year.
- 37:58You don't have to play the regular season.
- 38:01Well, you do,
- 38:02but you just have to go .
- 38:04But we're going to invite you to the
- 38:07playoffs now.
- 38:10It doesn't even make sense if you apply
- 38:12the logic to any other sport.
- 38:19It just doesn't.
- 38:25So on that note,
- 38:26I'm going to head out of here.
- 38:28I want to leave you with one funny
- 38:30video I saw on Instagram.
- 38:32And we've been talking about,
- 38:35especially Sunday night and with Carolyn a
- 38:37lot over the last couple of years,
- 38:40testing athleticism in CrossFit.
- 38:44And the reason that comes up is CrossFit
- 38:46is very straightforward, linear movement.
- 38:51There is no lateral movement really in
- 38:53CrossFit workouts.
- 38:55So how do we test for that, right?
- 38:59And Rebecca Fusile made a video that is
- 39:04hilarious about her as an athlete.
- 40:17Anyway, she's awesome.
- 40:19Always is awesome.
- 40:21My favorite part is when Bolt ate the
- 40:24chalk.
- 40:28So, yeah.
- 40:33And of course,
- 40:33Carolyn has to come at me with an
- 40:36actual sport that does base their field on
- 40:41past performance.
- 40:42And that is at the Masters,
- 40:44you win the green jacket and you get
- 40:46an invite for the rest of your life.
- 40:48That is true.
- 40:50But they can actually expand their field
- 40:52beyond the regular field to invite the
- 40:56same number of athletes regardless of
- 40:58that.
- 40:59CrossFit doesn't do that at this point.
- 41:01They keep their athletes at thirty for the
- 41:04games.
- 41:05So there's always an exception to every
- 41:08rule.
- 41:10There it is.
- 41:14Um, if you are doing quarterfinals,
- 41:17you get to start tomorrow.
- 41:19Hopefully testing is going well and yeah.
- 41:25Everything is awesome.
