- 0:07S2: Jay and dunk Rock drive.
- 0:09S3: I love it.
- 0:09S4: Hey happy Monday afternoon to you Jay and Dunk ready
- 0:13S4: to drive you home. Now we have a huge concert
- 0:16S4: announcement just after six this evening. I have no idea
- 0:18S4: why they've put us in charge of this, but we will, uh,
- 0:22S4: fumble our way through it at 6:05.
- 0:25S5: Uh, we're not meant to say anything. Let's see if
- 0:26S5: we can keep our promises. I met one of the
- 0:28S5: most impressive blokes I've ever come across. Um. And he
- 0:32S5: is doing stuff outside most people's comfort zones.
- 0:37S4: Um, also, I might chuck this question out there. Uh,
- 0:41S4: how young is too young to get into stewing rhubarb?
- 0:47S5: Single file please, ladies J.
- 0:49S4: How how young.
- 0:52S2: The Rock drive podcast.
- 0:54S6: Is. It's my guy.
- 0:55S2: Smoko. Cheers to heartland chips. Extreme crunch experience. More crunch
- 1:00S2: than a learner driver and a manual.
- 1:02S4: Uh, your chance to win a year's supply of those
- 1:03S4: bad boys. You can take smoko, send it off to three, 520.
- 1:07S4: Another happy customer Friday afternoon. You've got to be in
- 1:09S4: to win. You can text that through and we'll do
- 1:11S4: the draw Friday afternoon. Now massive weekend of sport. We
- 1:14S4: said it was going to be leading into it. The
- 1:16S4: ABS and the Wallabies went at it again. And that's
- 1:18S4: just the start. Um we'll clean up everything that happened
- 1:21S4: because there was NPC, USC rugby league, World Cup, netball.
- 1:25S4: Um there's the a f c game on over the weekend.
- 1:29S4: Black ferns are on crazy. But we'll kick things off uh,
- 1:32S4: with how good the All Blacks are at the moment.
- 1:34S7: Can Australia shut them down here? Barrett. Lachi Lachi. Joanne
- 1:44S7: is on the edge. Rico with man infield. They're not
- 1:48S7: required for Rico to go short side. Dummy scores one
- 1:55S7: handed over the top. Intercepted and off flies The man
- 2:02S7: closing in on 150 test matches and lucky, but it's
- 2:07S7: still on for the All Blacks. It goes to touch
- 2:14S7: and New Zealand make it 13 in a row against
- 2:18S7: the Wallabies.
- 2:19S4: How good?
- 2:20S5: Yeah, I tell you. For me the players the Codie
- 2:24S5: Taylor as Skip has been.
- 2:26S4: Just a warmachine.
- 2:28S5: All the engine on that bloke is absolutely poked.
- 2:32S4: Uh, the NPC semifinals happened over the weekend as well.
- 2:35S5: Devastating stuff. Dunks team bit my team, the Taranaki Bulls
- 2:38S5: to advance to a home final against the Northland Taniwha who, um,
- 2:43S5: tipped Otago in an epic game.
- 2:45S4: Yeah.
- 2:45S5: Huge game. The Taranaki game was was wicked to Canterbury.
- 2:49S5: Just boosted off. Um and I think it was like
- 2:52S5: 287 or something. Uh, and then they clawed it back
- 2:56S5: and got within ten points.
- 2:57S4: Yeah. It was 38, 28 at the end of that game.
- 2:59S4: So final of the NPC this coming Sunday, uh, Sunday
- 3:02S4: I believe said it must be Saturday, Saturday, um, rugby
- 3:06S4: league World Cup was on. Of course we had the
- 3:07S4: um the Kiwis play uh Australia on the Thursday night. Yeah.
- 3:12S4: Um and then on Friday night I sat down to
- 3:14S4: watch some uh, absolutely pumped front 78 for one of
- 3:19S4: the greatest games of one way traffic traffic I've ever seen.
- 3:23S5: Yeah. Um, things really spicy. I like the Lebanon, Papua
- 3:25S5: New Guinea game. Tonga versus England was the match. I
- 3:28S5: mean the Kiwis Australia game was wicked. Tonga versus England
- 3:31S5: was you could have the biggest collection of bell ringing
- 3:35S5: hits for a season and not come close to the game. Um,
- 3:39S5: that they had like it was a proper bloodbath, mate.
- 3:43S5: It was like State of Origin all over again because
- 3:45S5: there's so many NRL players in the English team and
- 3:47S5: obviously so many in the in the Tongan team as well.
- 3:50S5: But Jebus big del del Martinez after a yeah.
- 3:55S4: After the collar surgery, he's still going full psycho.
- 3:58S5: Yeah. And he buried his opposite number and a. And
- 4:01S5: a retribution hit.
- 4:02S4: Two Kiwi ferns got up against Fiji as well. 1812. Uh,
- 4:06S4: one of the most savage UFC knockouts you ever see.
- 4:08S4: A stepping knee to the jaw, lights out. Guerrilla radio
- 4:13S4: is amazing. Um, cell phones got up, uh, up, up
- 4:16S4: over the Australian diamonds, which is awesome. And black ferns.
- 4:19S4: Speaking of pumping, France pumped him even harder than what
- 4:22S4: Samoa did. Black ferns beat France 8112.
- 4:25S5: Impressive.
- 4:26S4: So good. Rugby's on Monday. Is it? That's great. Long weekend.
- 4:31S5: Oh, wicked.
- 4:32S4: Yeah. Oh, this is just the best time for sport.
- 4:35S2: Hey, thanks for listening. Big whoop.
- 4:37S4: Yeah. Who's the company that did those, um, award winning sausages.
- 4:40S5: My party meats.
- 4:41S4: Oh, my goodness me.
- 4:42S5: They, uh. Well, they they won the best sausage and
- 4:45S5: they are bloody delicious. And they are great. It's my
- 4:48S5: local butcher. Uh, great team in there. And, um, predominantly
- 4:52S5: sourced from their farm and the Hinuera plains, um, on
- 4:55S5: the way through to, you know, traveling between the Bay
- 4:58S5: and Hamilton, I guess.
- 5:00S4: Do you know what one of the funniest things I
- 5:01S4: saw over the weekend was? Was this. Remember the wrestler
- 5:05S4: big show? Yeah, he was like the new school version
- 5:08S4: of Andre the Giant. Yeah. Like someone that was just
- 5:11S4: so big that you like that would have cost a
- 5:14S4: bit to feed him.
- 5:15S5: He he kind of looked like Bill off. Guess whose brother?
- 5:20S5: You know, he he he's the dark haired version of Bill.
- 5:24S5: Bill was a bit of a blondie.
- 5:26S4: Um, and so the big show, Paul Wight, he's talking
- 5:30S4: on a podcast about how he FaceTimed Stone Cold Steve Austin.
- 5:34S4: Stone cold was not happy about it.
- 5:36S8: I love the dude to death. I FaceTimed him one
- 5:38S8: day and he goes, God damn, dude, what are you doing?
- 5:43S8: I said, I'm just seeing what you're doing. He goes,
- 5:45S8: dudes don't FaceTime. Dudes hang up and call me back regular.
- 5:49S8: So I was like, I didn't know that dudes don't
- 5:51S8: FaceTime dudes, okay? I just want to see my friend, though. Hey, man,
- 5:55S8: what's going on?
- 5:58S9: You know, I was.
- 5:59S8: Like, okay. Note to self dudes, do not FaceTime dudes,
- 6:02S8: I got that. I need to write that in my
- 6:03S8: man book.
- 6:06S4: If you don't follow Stone Cold Steve Austin on Instagram,
- 6:08S4: you're missing out. He's living the most rugged lifestyle.
- 6:11S5: He's got a cool set up. He's a mad setter.
- 6:14S4: He's always peddling his rattlesnake lager or something. Yeah, yeah. Um,
- 6:19S4: which is his beer that he's got, but it's worth
- 6:22S4: checking out there.
- 6:23S5: And I am making a Ten Commandments of dude etiquette.
- 6:27S4: You're just like social rules around mateship. Yeah. It doesn't
- 6:30S4: necessarily need to be dudes, but we could call it dude,
- 6:32S4: where's where's the etiquette?
- 6:33S5: Yeah.
- 6:35S4: Um, for example, you know, you go to a mate's house. Yeah.
- 6:39S4: And they're having a barbecue. You bring some beers, maybe
- 6:42S4: you bring a box of beers and there's like six
- 6:45S4: or so left.
- 6:46S5: You take him. You're a dog.
- 6:47S4: Exactly. You leave him in there overnight. They are. Now
- 6:50S4: the new owner is the person that was hosting the barbecue. Yeah.
- 6:53S4: Like you can't come back the next day and be like, hey, uh,
- 6:56S4: I left my beers here. Like no way.
- 6:58S5: Um, another one. If you own a yurt or a
- 7:00S5: flat deck truck, the expectation is that you will help
- 7:04S5: your mates move anything, including houses.
- 7:06S4: Yeah, yeah, Chuck that in there as well. If you
- 7:09S4: get a lift from someone else to the airport at
- 7:12S4: 4 a.m.. Yeah. You'll never be able to repay that debt.
- 7:17S5: Ever. That is an endless Everest climb.
- 7:21S2: Ooh. All the best bits from the rock drive with
- 7:24S2: Jay and Dunk, you beauty. Listen, live on our App Rover,
- 7:27S2: 3 to 7 p.m. New Zealand time, Monday to Friday. Oh.
- 7:31S10: Give me the best bits.
- 7:32S4: Just got onto this one, dude, where's the etiquette? These
- 7:34S4: are the social rules around mateship. These are things that
- 7:38S4: you should or should not do. If you want to
- 7:40S4: be a great mate. For example, on a road trip,
- 7:43S4: you go and say Call Auckland, Taupo.
- 7:46S5: Yeah.
- 7:47S4: The person with the strongest bladder in the car determines
- 7:50S4: the pit stop, not the weakest.
- 7:51S5: Oh, and that. With that being said, I would never, ever, ever, ever,
- 7:55S5: ever travel, uh, with dunk on a drinking trip, if
- 7:59S5: that is the rule. Because dunk is a he is
- 8:02S5: literally made out of liquid. He is an entire bladder.
- 8:05S5: And I kid you not, it was a stairway to heaven.
- 8:10S5: Original version started playing when we hopped out for a
- 8:12S5: piss and, uh, and accidentally repeated it and is still
- 8:15S5: going like it was unreal.
- 8:17S4: Yeah, well, that might have killed me in high school. Uh,
- 8:19S4: you know, Duncan, the bladder of three men hide the tanker.
- 8:23S5: Um, another one here. This one from Matty Smith. Always
- 8:26S5: tripping for petrol on a road trip. If your mate
- 8:29S5: owns a pub, never expect cheap drinks or food. Pay
- 8:32S5: him extra. That's how he makes a living.
- 8:33S4: Exactly. Yeah. Um, if you ran a barbecue and it's
- 8:37S4: not yours, don't touch it unless they hand the tongs over. Mhm.
- 8:40S4: And then you're like, you've got full control there.
- 8:42S5: Yeah. You're in charge of morale and, uh, bringing beers.
- 8:45S4: And if you don't tap them together before you start turning,
- 8:48S4: then there will be a bad barbecue.
- 8:49S5: Yep. Um, if you borrow a petrol powered item, return
- 8:52S5: it with a full tank of gas, regardless of where
- 8:55S5: it was. Um. I don't want to hear from my
- 8:57S5: beaver dudes don't eat lollipops and never maintain eye contact
- 9:02S5: whilst eating a banana.
- 9:03S4: I went through a phase of doing the exact opposite
- 9:06S4: to that rule, to J.
- 9:09S5: And sneakily record him and put it to. It's been
- 9:12S5: a while.
- 9:14S4: Uh. If a mate helps you move house, you owe
- 9:16S4: him beers and a feed. Not just a heartfelt thank you.
- 9:20S5: Yeah, if it mate gets a terrible haircut, you are,
- 9:23S5: as a friend, legally obliged to give him shit.
- 9:27S4: Exactly. Back to the house. Moving thing. Real mates. Don't
- 9:30S4: ask other mates to help them move out either. Those
- 9:34S4: days are gone. That's a bloody 90s and 80s thing. Yeah.
- 9:38S5: If you borrow a trailer. And this is because, you know,
- 9:40S5: it's always one person that has a trailer in amongst
- 9:42S5: a group of friends. If you borrow trailer, you need
- 9:44S5: to bring it back in better condition than you found.
- 9:46S5: Everyone's like, oh mate, it's how, how, how good do
- 9:49S5: you need it? Give it a hose down. Sweep the
- 9:51S5: bastard out.
- 9:52S4: Return a better condition than what they have because quite
- 9:54S4: often you won't look like you know, whatever you haven't
- 9:56S4: got to do cleaning your whatever it is and to
- 9:59S4: someone to bring it back. Hey, go the extra mile,
- 10:02S4: chuck a bit of we'll shine on the trailer. I
- 10:04S4: bet it's never had that before.
- 10:05S5: Yeah, it's.
- 10:06S4: Like a patch for a trailer.
- 10:08S5: How is this a box is 24 tins, not 12.
- 10:13S4: Correct.
- 10:14S5: If your mate owns any business, don't ask for a discount.
- 10:18S5: Take stuff for free off strangers. Pay your mates.
- 10:20S4: Tell you what though, your mates will love cash.
- 10:24S2: Yeah, the boys rock drive with Jay and Dunk.
- 10:27S4: The Rock with your old mates. Jay and Dunk.
- 10:29S5: Ironically, just talking about their song Before We dunk would
- 10:31S5: stare longingly into my eyes and eat a banana.
- 10:34S4: It's a I haven't bought a banana to wear for
- 10:36S4: a while. You must be hanging out for that again.
- 10:37S4: I'll get you to buy some more. Um.
- 10:40S5: It's one of those. The only way that it's not
- 10:43S5: offensive is if someone just snaps it in half and
- 10:45S5: just takes bits out of it. You know, you start
- 10:48S5: eating inside on. That looks weird as well.
- 10:50S4: How does a monkey eat it?
- 10:52S5: I peel it from the bottom.
- 10:54S4: Well, cause that's still on the bunch. But then what
- 10:56S4: are they doing? They just toss it up and in
- 10:58S4: one go.
- 10:59S5: Yeah, they like to make banana splits, I think.
- 11:01S4: Ah. Okay. Yeah. Um, just in case it's not news,
- 11:04S4: it probably won't be, but, um, with mention, uh, the home,
- 11:08S4: the $15 million estate that was once owned by Sir
- 11:11S4: Sam Neill has just been purchased by Jason Momoa, just
- 11:13S4: outside of Queenstown.
- 11:15S5: Sick.
- 11:15S4: Yeah. Cool, eh? So he clearly loves our country, doesn't he?
- 11:19S5: Yep. Um, I had one of the greatest encounters with
- 11:21S5: one of the most impressive human beings that I've ever
- 11:23S5: come across. 72 year old doctor David Ford. Um, yesterday
- 11:27S5: was around a buddy of mine's place, and he does
- 11:29S5: this five elements acupuncture. Mhm. Um, and it's kind of,
- 11:33S5: it's almost like acupuncture, which is, you know, eastern medicine with, um,
- 11:37S5: a kind of almost like a counselling. He's scribbling away
- 11:41S5: in this book, but this bloke has been.
- 11:43S4: What a run out of ink with you.
- 11:45S5: Yeah. He did, he did. I'll show you a picture.
- 11:47S5: I'll show you.
- 11:48S4: Well how many needles do you get stuck into you?
- 11:50S5: Only two.
- 11:51S4: That's all that you needed? Yeah. I mean, oh, yeah,
- 11:55S4: that doesn't surprise me.
- 11:56S5: So swipe to the other side. So those are the
- 11:57S5: notes that he makes.
- 11:58S4: Wow. The museum looks like a beautiful mine.
- 12:00S5: Yeah. Um, so basically, in the last 55 years, he's
- 12:03S5: traveled all around the world. He's been, like, worked with
- 12:06S5: kings and queens and all the top leaders, uh, across
- 12:10S5: the planet. Top sports stars, top celebrities everywhere. He owns
- 12:14S5: an island in Alaska, which he lives in. Is this.
- 12:16S4: Your notes?
- 12:17S5: No. Those are his notes on you. Yeah.
- 12:19S4: Man. He took. There's three pages there.
- 12:21S5: Yeah, well, he's about to unpack.
- 12:23S4: Four pages. Yeah, one of them's scribbles that looks like
- 12:25S4: your page that you're responsible for.
- 12:27S5: Yeah. I said to him, draw a picture of my mind.
- 12:28S5: And that was it. Um, so basically ended up jamming
- 12:33S5: these two things, which was, it was incredible. But the
- 12:37S5: point that I wanted to make and illustrate on the
- 12:40S5: show today was if you've never been to have some
- 12:44S5: form of counselling or have one of those conversations, those
- 12:47S5: really deep conversations. You often don't know where to start it.
- 12:50S4: So do you feel like you needed it going into it?
- 12:53S5: Kinda. I'd always like to be better. Like I definitely
- 12:56S5: felt like I'd been on a treadmill this year and
- 12:58S5: sort of everything's going great, but you know, like if
- 13:01S5: everything is absolutely tip top and you know, on as
- 13:04S5: well as anybody else's. I'm the luckiest bloke I know.
- 13:07S5: And so when everything's going your way and you still
- 13:09S5: kind of feel this weird sort of sluggish, you know, discontent,
- 13:13S5: you know, why, why is this the case? Um, but.
- 13:17S4: That's almost the more frightening bit when you know, you know,
- 13:19S4: you're incredibly fortunate.
- 13:21S5: I mean.
- 13:21S4: Everything you're still feeling a bit off you go. Oh yeah.
- 13:25S4: That's concerning.
- 13:26S5: Well that's what he said. He goes, this is the
- 13:28S5: life of the corporate ladder, which you generally hit in
- 13:29S5: your 40s. You climb to the top of it and
- 13:31S5: realise that you've gone up the wrong wall, you know?
- 13:34S5: And so you go, okay.
- 13:35S4: Literally my wife and she quit her job.
- 13:37S5: Yeah. Um, and at this age and stage, you, there's
- 13:40S5: a lot of changes that go on in your body
- 13:42S5: and the way that you look at things and how
- 13:43S5: you operate. And, um, and these, you tend to have
- 13:46S5: these incidences at this age. And so anyway, I, I,
- 13:49S5: because I was always fascinated by how that conversation goes.
- 13:52S5: It's almost like going into a knock shop. I've never
- 13:54S5: been into one, but I assume that that's a weird interaction.
- 13:57S5: But if you had a sore shoulder, you go to,
- 14:00S5: you go to a physio. If you've got bad teeth,
- 14:01S5: you go to a dentist, you need your spine realigned,
- 14:03S5: you go to osteo chiro, whatever it is. But when
- 14:05S5: you need to get your upstairs sorted out, it's easy
- 14:08S5: enough to say, well, you go and book and see
- 14:10S5: a psychiatrist or a counsellor. But making that step to
- 14:13S5: go there seems so much further away than any of
- 14:15S5: those other professions.
- 14:16S4: Yeah, if you've never done it before, that seems like
- 14:17S4: a crazy thing to do.
- 14:19S5: Yeah. And so we sat down and he goes, what
- 14:20S5: do you want to talk about? And my response was
- 14:22S5: the same as everybody else that sits in front of him,
- 14:25S5: I don't know.
- 14:26S4: Yeah.
- 14:27S5: And it was meant to be half an hour. We
- 14:28S5: talk for 2.5 hours. Wow. And I feel like I
- 14:30S5: feel completely different now off the back of it.
- 14:32S4: Do you feel light?
- 14:33S5: Yeah, really light and kind of a bit more, I
- 14:36S5: say focused, but yeah, a little bit more aligned with
- 14:38S5: where I want to be. Um, very, very cool. If
- 14:41S5: you're interested, I might even make a note for the,
- 14:44S5: he's probably not really overly pumped by 72.
- 14:47S4: He didn't need more work.
- 14:47S5: Definitely doesn't.
- 14:48S4: What's the what's what's the call to action for the
- 14:50S4: listener going, hmm, that's peaked my interest.
- 14:53S5: Um, I would say going to your GP, if you
- 14:55S5: are wanting to get some referral to someone to talk to,
- 15:00S5: go to your GP and say, hey, I'm not in
- 15:02S5: trouble yet, but I'd like to be better. And they'll
- 15:05S5: refer you on. You generally get, you know, half hour
- 15:06S5: sessions for free. Or if you can track down this
- 15:09S5: bloke five element, um I'll make a, I'll make a
- 15:12S5: bounce back and I'll give it to you then. That'll make.
- 15:13S4: It easier. Alright, we'll set that up now rock News
- 15:15S4: and sport next.
- 15:16S2: Get that link in the show notes.
- 15:18S4: You shouldn't have to explain certain things to another adult,
- 15:21S4: but you do anyway. Can I start? Jake explaining to adults,
- 15:26S4: Hillary went on a date with a bloke who tried
- 15:28S4: to cool down his hot food in the microwave by
- 15:30S4: pressing the defrost button. First and last date. Do you
- 15:33S4: know why it didn't bother? Good start. Didn't explain though.
- 15:37S4: This from Toby. My wife and I are currently travelling
- 15:40S4: in Vietnam. We walk past a very culturally appropriate tourist bar.
- 15:43S4: All the waiters are dressed as the Viet Cong. She
- 15:46S4: asks what they are, and I mentioned the concept of
- 15:48S4: guerrilla warfare and the Vietnam War. She then turns to me, astounded, goes,
- 15:52S4: how did they get the guerrillas to fight? It took
- 15:55S4: me several minutes to get myself under control, enough to
- 15:58S4: explain how the Viet Cong had not enlisted the help
- 16:00S4: of the world's largest ape to fight off.
- 16:01S5: The Americans would have been sick if they did, though.
- 16:04S5: Pete Lucas, a friend of mine, went to a funeral
- 16:06S5: and after the cremation he was stood outside talking to
- 16:09S5: a couple of women. Suddenly they asked, what's that burning
- 16:12S5: barbecue smell? Oh, Jason. Andrew. So a few years back,
- 16:16S5: me and my ex were in tots and teens with
- 16:18S5: our son looking at some clothes, etc. she looks over
- 16:22S5: at the older lady shop assistant who was was quite
- 16:25S5: close to us and says, is that your real name? Um.
- 16:28S5: I look up at the lady who was smiling and
- 16:30S5: realized that she's wearing a name brooch on her uniform
- 16:33S5: top that says staff.
- 16:39S4: That's where I'm from, Christian. I once had to explain
- 16:41S4: to my wife that the temperature controls in the car
- 16:44S4: dashboard are just the temperature on the inside of the car,
- 16:47S4: not the outside. That's from Sandy. I had to inform
- 16:50S4: my husband that the wind turbines are not called wind deflectors. She, uh,
- 16:54S4: he thought that they were designed to fight back against
- 16:57S4: wind and send it back in the opposite direction.
- 16:59S5: Oh my goodness.
- 17:00S4: Take that.
- 17:02S5: Maddie. Ishmael. Um. After taking off on an evening flight
- 17:05S5: from Heathrow, we were looking at all the lights on
- 17:08S5: the M25 and the surrounding towns. Look, said my better half,
- 17:12S5: there's been a power cut. All those lights have gone out.
- 17:15S5: It took me a while to stop laughing and squeeze
- 17:18S5: out the word cloud.
- 17:23S4: That's from Darren. Many, many years ago I used to
- 17:25S4: DJ at a nightclub. One night I was talking to
- 17:28S4: one of the bouncers about the up and coming Easter
- 17:29S4: long weekend. He looked at me dead serious and goes,
- 17:32S4: what day does Good Friday fall on this year? And
- 17:36S4: one here from Jakey Boy. I had to explain to
- 17:38S4: one of my wife's friends that the new moon in
- 17:40S4: the lunar cycle wasn't actually a new moon. Like we
- 17:43S4: don't get a new one each time. It's just the
- 17:45S4: start of a new lunar cycle.
- 17:47S5: It's just a massive pile of old, old, buggered moons
- 17:50S5: just floating around in a tip somewhere.
- 17:51S4: That one's done. It's done. 31 days. Get rid of it.
- 17:56S2: Jay and dunk sitting in a tree. KISS. Okay. That's weird.
- 18:01S2: Rock drive.
- 18:02S4: Forgetting something. And then there's forgetting something that's absolutely massive
- 18:06S4: to somebody else.
- 18:07S11: Yeah. I had a stark reminder that I need to
- 18:09S11: pay attention to what I agree to do and write
- 18:11S11: things down. So I had a wonderful weekend. I'm caught
- 18:13S11: up with an old mate. You guys might remember as well.
- 18:15S11: Rasheen who used to work here. Digital. Yeah. She's awesome. Um,
- 18:18S11: her and her now fiance Lenny. Uh, they've been over
- 18:21S11: in the UK for three years and they just came back,
- 18:23S11: so I loaded up the X5. We went beach bashing
- 18:26S11: down middleway it was awesome. We went for a surf
- 18:28S11: surf casting. It was wicked. And I didn't get it
- 18:30S11: stuck this time, which was real good.
- 18:32S5: That's a.
- 18:32S11: Win. Last time I went down there, the exit ramps,
- 18:34S11: real soft sand and a BMW. A BMW X5 is
- 18:38S11: not really an off road vehicle and I.
- 18:41S4: Very hard to get a tow rope hooked on to
- 18:43S4: you when you're in an X5. Yeah.
- 18:44S11: When you got you got the big M sport body
- 18:46S11: kit on it and stuff like.
- 18:48S5: So every four wheel driver's dream, watching one of those
- 18:51S5: parked up in the sand.
- 18:52S11: I could I could hear the blokes in the Hilux
- 18:53S11: behind me chuckling. And I was like, anyway, this time
- 18:57S11: went a lot better and we went out to um
- 18:58S11: Hallertau had a little tasting paddle. At the end of
- 19:00S11: the day, we're talking about Lenny and Roseanne upcoming wedding,
- 19:03S11: which is going to be amazing. We're invited. The invites
- 19:05S11: and everything went out and me in full earnestness going,
- 19:08S11: oh man, that's going to be amazing. What time does
- 19:10S11: it go to? And I'm like, and who you got
- 19:12S11: DJing for your wedding? And she just looks at me
- 19:15S11: and I can see the steam starting and she goes, hey,
- 19:17S11: messing with me. And I'm like, well, no, it's a
- 19:19S11: real it's an important part of it, you know, like
- 19:21S11: kid who's real good or are you gonna get Crocker
- 19:23S11: in with a sax or something? And she's just staring
- 19:24S11: at me and she's like, you're doing it. And I'm like,
- 19:27S11: am I?
- 19:29S5: Did you actually did you have that conversation or are
- 19:31S5: you just 100% dead?
- 19:32S11: I went back on my text. We'd been we've been
- 19:35S11: yarning a bunch of times about it a.
- 19:37S4: Bunch of.
- 19:37S11: Times. Yeah.
- 19:38S4: I'm it's mildly concerning.
- 19:41S11: I agreed to emcee it and to DJ.
- 19:43S4: Oh, it's a double whammy. So you like probably one
- 19:46S4: of the most, if not the most important part of
- 19:48S4: the day as far as stitching it together.
- 19:50S11: Yeah. So it was a, it was a crucial lesson to,
- 19:52S11: you know, remember.
- 19:53S4: Just when you ask that, you ask us that you
- 19:54S4: got to take Thursday off now.
- 19:56S11: No, I just want to put a shout out to
- 19:58S11: the rest of Aotearoa. Have I agreed to do anything
- 20:00S11: for you? Three. Five. Two. What's the number?
- 20:02S5: Yeah, well, you can get them in a moment of weakness.
- 20:04S5: Just send in what you want him to do, and
- 20:06S5: we can probably push it across the line. Yeah.
- 20:08S4: We need to do is email banana@gmail.com. He'll bounce you
- 20:12S4: back with a very affordable rate of old shit. Okay.
- 20:18S11: Ah, but yeah, looking forward.
- 20:19S2: To enjoying this podcast. I get more of the boys
- 20:22S2: on their other podcast, not for radio uncensored yarns nor
- 20:26S2: tea and laughs with the lads wherever you get your podcasts.
- 20:30S4: Now, something quite concerning is happening to my good friend
- 20:33S4: Jay Reeve, the man who spent a large part of
- 20:36S4: his life partying you know, the MTV host. He's going
- 20:41S4: to gigs, drinking up a storm, all sorts of bloody
- 20:43S4: nonsense over the weekend. I feel like Jay has had
- 20:47S4: a new stage of life. Yeah.
- 20:49S5: Just.
- 20:50S4: He stewed some ruddy rhubarb over the weekend.
- 20:54S5: Making my own butter these days, guys.
- 20:59S4: Not because he lost a bet. Did you? Like, voluntarily
- 21:03S4: decided to stew your own rhubarb.
- 21:05S5: Yeah. So I've got. It's one of the fondest memories
- 21:07S5: that I've had that I have of my grandparents. Like,
- 21:11S5: they always had these amazing, amazing gardens, like their proper
- 21:15S5: farming grandparents that just were sustainably supporting themselves. Basically, they'd
- 21:20S5: go into town, they'd get a sack of flour, a
- 21:22S5: sack of sugar, and that'll be it. Like that's how
- 21:24S5: they operate. And they had these bins, like big bins
- 21:27S5: in the kitchen that were just full of flour and
- 21:29S5: sugar and it'd just be baking. They make their own butter,
- 21:31S5: they do all the stuff. And I was like, this
- 21:32S5: is pretty awesome. And then most recently, I caught up
- 21:35S5: with a bloke at OTE brose, which is that young buck? Yeah. Yeah.
- 21:39S5: They basically these guys have basically started a porridge cafe,
- 21:42S5: which sounds sounds random, but it's bloody delicious.
- 21:45S4: And it's Hessian.
- 21:46S5: And they had a rhubarb, a stewed rhubarb in the porridge.
- 21:50S5: And I was like, I like porridge. I've got rhubarb.
- 21:53S5: I'm going to do some rhubarb.
- 21:54S4: Hang on a minute. I've got so many questions. So
- 21:57S4: where did the rhubarb come from.
- 21:58S5: So we've got at our place.
- 22:00S4: Did you plant. Plant it with your own hands?
- 22:02S5: No, this is this is.
- 22:03S4: Left.
- 22:03S5: Over. Yeah. So the couple that were before us in
- 22:06S5: this house have been there for 42 years. A really
- 22:08S5: well established garden. So massive citrus trees, like a 50
- 22:11S5: metre tall macadamia nut tree that just feeds rats.
- 22:15S4: So you've got like eighth generation rhubarb plants.
- 22:18S5: Yeah.
- 22:19S4: That you're tucking into. I bet they're tender.
- 22:21S5: Yeah. So these. Yeah. He cut them back. I'm going
- 22:25S5: to bring some in. So the key.
- 22:27S4: I've actually like if I'm being if I want to
- 22:29S4: like pull back the curtain a wee bit. Yeah. On
- 22:31S4: number 54 Struggle Street we had so much rhubarb. I've
- 22:34S4: almost got PTSD from it. that went on our our
- 22:37S4: one piece of weak backs every morning through winter.
- 22:39S5: Yeah.
- 22:40S4: And I hate the shit. That's gonna have to be
- 22:42S4: pretty good now, man. Are you bring it in and
- 22:44S4: I'll give it a go. But it's not gonna be
- 22:46S4: a tough crowd.
- 22:47S5: The key is to just offset it a little bit
- 22:49S5: with some fresh ginger and cinnamon.
- 22:51S4: Nah. Well, what we used to do is sneak sugar
- 22:53S4: from the pantry. Yeah, and load it with sugar eventually.
- 22:57S4: Can't taste the rhubarb. And you can just taste the sugar.
- 22:59S5: We used to get raw rhubarb um, stems and dip
- 23:03S5: them in sugar and just crunch them raw like celery.
- 23:06S4: Oh, what a treat. It sounds like we grew up
- 23:07S4: in the same street did. So what are you gonna
- 23:11S4: serve it with?
- 23:12S5: That'll be on my porridge.
- 23:14S4: Oh, yes, it is going on your porridge.
- 23:15S5: Yeah, because I'm building a porridge drawer like they do
- 23:17S5: in Scotland. I did. We let anybody know that we
- 23:20S5: went to Scotland. Now we've been there for three days
- 23:22S5: and we're fully entrenched in the Scottish way of having porridge.
- 23:26S4: I would just like to ask you this and answer
- 23:31S4: me seriously.
- 23:34S5: That's not our show.
- 23:37S4: Now, when the the rhubarb stew was done.
- 23:40S5: Yeah.
- 23:42S4: And you tasted it?
- 23:43S5: Yeah.
- 23:43S4: Did you genuinely get excited?
- 23:47S5: It was one of those longing moments. You just take
- 23:49S5: a spoon out of the big smoldering pot. It'll cool
- 23:52S5: down at this stage, obviously, because that stuff's thermonuclear and
- 23:55S5: had a it had like a little slurp off the spoon.
- 23:57S5: And I looked out towards the horizon was like, this
- 24:00S5: is living.
- 24:01S4: This is what it's all about.
- 24:02S5: And then all.
- 24:03S4: Of harvesting someone else's rhubarb.
- 24:05S5: Yeah.
- 24:07S4: Let's add a tablespoon of someone else's. Hard work has
- 24:10S4: never tasted better.
- 24:11S5: What I've got is we've planted blueberry bushes next to
- 24:14S5: the rhubarb. So I've basically got like a cobbler garden,
- 24:17S5: which just turns into.
- 24:19S4: This is it. This never has a greater text come in.
- 24:23S4: You just mow your rhubarb plants. They come back. Mint. Yeah.
- 24:26S4: Whack the bricks and straight in straight over the top,
- 24:28S4: which is probably what's happened in yours.
- 24:30S5: Yeah. I cut these ones all the way back to
- 24:32S5: the base so that they can come back strong. Ice cream. Rhubarb. Delicious.
- 24:37S5: Rhubarb is the worst. I mean, she's she's divisive drinking.
- 24:41S4: By Christmas you'll be putting little labels on your preserves.
- 24:46S5: Guess what you're getting for Christmas.
- 24:48S4: Oh, guess who's dropping it.
- 24:52S5: In a mason jar full of rhubarb.
- 24:55S4: Hey, um, I've got an idea for the title of
- 24:57S4: your cookbook. World's worst cookbook.
- 25:02S5: Rhubarb a million ways with Jay.
- 25:08S4: Oh, well, I'm looking forward to the chutney, mate.
- 25:10S2: Strap in and send it. Rock drive with Jay and dunk.
- 25:15S4: Uh. Saturday afternoon, Auckland FC took on Melbourne. Uh, and
- 25:19S4: the A league game. And it was awesome. Westy Lee, uh,
- 25:22S4: found out he's just dragged him in here now midweek.
- 25:25S4: Lee that, uh, you were going Friday afternoon to what?
- 25:28S4: She replied almost instantly. Where are you parking.
- 25:31S9: Yeah. Oh yeah. oh yeah. So I've got a fantastic
- 25:33S9: group of friends that um, have a business on the
- 25:36S9: back gate of Mount Smart Stadium. Andy. Oh so handy.
- 25:40S9: So I messaged Duncan was like, yeah, bro, this is
- 25:41S9: where we're going. Rock on up. I'll meet you there.
- 25:43S9: And I was like, sweet. So I get there and
- 25:45S9: I was like, sweet, we're here waiting. And he goes, oh, bro,
- 25:46S9: they've just closed all the roads. So I'll go find
- 25:50S9: another park.
- 25:51S4: Yeah, put the cones up. And I found the best park. Uh,
- 25:54S4: if you're not like this, the next best one after
- 25:57S4: being a player. Um, and it was literally outside one
- 26:01S4: of the gates.
- 26:01S9: If you main gate on Morris Road.
- 26:03S4: Yeah, if you draw, if you walk straight out right across.
- 26:06S4: I was on the grass right there. It cost me
- 26:08S4: 20 bucks. Absolute nailed it. Although you did get in
- 26:10S4: before me, I was running slightly later than you just though.
- 26:13S9: So he, he called me and was like, bro, you
- 26:15S9: won't believe the park I've just got. So I'm walking
- 26:16S9: in now. And I was like, oh, are you? And
- 26:18S9: I was at my gate, which was about, I want
- 26:19S9: to say maybe two, maybe 200m away from where you were.
- 26:23S9: And I was like, oh, where are you walking in?
- 26:25S9: He said, yeah, I'm on the left hand side. And
- 26:27S9: I went, oh yeah, I got you, bro. There you go.
- 26:28S9: And your and your gray jumper. Sweet. I'm swinging my orange,
- 26:30S9: not for Radiohead. And he looked and he goes on
- 26:32S9: the phone. He goes, jeez, your eyes are good for
- 26:34S9: a diabetic. And Nikita was like, where is it? I
- 26:38S9: can't even see him. I was like.
- 26:39S4: I could barely see you're not for Radiohead and Hives orange.
- 26:43S4: And he was swinging it around, and you spotted me
- 26:44S4: in a gray shirt with a white hat.
- 26:47S5: And the Nikita guys are great for a diabetic. Make
- 26:50S5: a hell of a bumper sticker.
- 26:52S9: Nikita. Guys, my wife goes, how can you see him?
- 26:54S9: And I was like, mate, I look at him every
- 26:56S9: day for like five days, for four hours a day.
- 26:58S9: And then we got to the gates and Muzz man,
- 27:01S9: he's such a cool little lad, bro. He's a really.
- 27:03S4: Cool my metal kid. Yeah.
- 27:04S9: Steven, he had a, he had a gob full of, um,
- 27:07S9: strawberry extra and he had no pockets. So he was
- 27:09S9: holding his chewing gum in his hand and he walked
- 27:11S9: in and the lady at the gate goes, oh, hey, look,
- 27:13S9: I'm sorry you can't bring your chewing gum in. And
- 27:16S9: he was gutted and I was, oh that's alright. I'll
- 27:17S9: throw it in the bin. Took it off him, put
- 27:19S9: it in my left hand, lift it up the bin.
- 27:20S9: So she saw me lift it up, close the bin,
- 27:22S9: chewing gum securely in my left hand into the jeans pocket.
- 27:26S9: And Muzz looked and goes, hey, you didn't put it in,
- 27:28S9: I went.
- 27:30S4: Shush, you little weak, cute lips.
- 27:31S9: And I was like, I was like, I'll give it
- 27:33S9: back to you when we get inside.
- 27:34S5: Snitches will get stitches.
- 27:35S9: Gave it back to him inside. Looked at him about
- 27:37S9: half an hour later, asked him how many pieces of
- 27:39S9: gum he was rolling. He reckon he had like 12
- 27:40S9: or 13 bits of extra in there. But you're absolutely right.
- 27:43S9: The team at Auckland FC put on the Hal afternoon.
- 27:45S9: We got Philly cheesesteaks and the catering. There was like
- 27:48S9: a little caprese salad skewer with, you know, mozzarella, some basil,
- 27:52S9: some cherry tomatoes with balsamic glaze. I think I ate
- 27:55S9: like seven of them.
- 27:55S5: Delish.
- 27:56S9: Yeah.
- 27:56S4: But back to the bubble gum gate. So, um, oh,
- 28:00S4: two things. That was the first time muslin cloth. What? Um,
- 28:04S4: corporate hosting us because I went up and I got
- 28:06S4: like a Heineken silver Heineken zero and, uh, Pepsi Max
- 28:11S4: for him and turned around and said, watch this. I'm
- 28:14S4: not gonna pay.
- 28:14S5: Run and just.
- 28:16S4: Turn, turn around and walk off. And MUDs is very
- 28:19S4: like black and white with like right and wrong. Yeah.
- 28:21S4: And he was, he was like, wait, what? What? I
- 28:23S4: was like, don't worry. It's all free. Everything. Watch this.
- 28:25S4: I'll bring around food. He's like, oh, my eyes are
- 28:27S4: popping out of his head and his whole world has
- 28:29S4: just been blown apart. This is even a thing like.
- 28:31S9: Yeah, welcome to the other half, boy.
- 28:33S5: Yeah.
- 28:33S4: And then once we're sitting down, it's a bit quieter.
- 28:35S4: He asks Wesley Lee for the bubble gum and he goes,
- 28:39S4: what would happen if I get caught? And I said,
- 28:42S4: I don't know, man. You might get arrested.
- 28:45S5: I'd say 5 to 7. A long, long spell.
- 28:49S4: I sort of lifted it there and then I forgot
- 28:51S4: about it because I thought he'd clocked that I was
- 28:53S4: joking and clearly didn't. Because then we were walking to
- 28:55S4: our seats. I turned down to look at him, and
- 28:57S4: he had his bubble gum under one hand with another
- 28:59S4: hand over it, and he was holding it next to
- 29:01S4: his heart, tied it with two heads because he didn't
- 29:04S4: want to get arrested.
- 29:05S9: I'm not going back.
- 29:06S5: I'm not going back to teach him not to be. So,
- 29:09S5: you know, he needs to be more inconspicuous with the
- 29:11S5: way he moves around. He needs to take some lessons
- 29:13S5: from the West Auckland wizard.
- 29:15S9: Oh, mate, it was, it was. It was such a
- 29:16S9: fun day, though. It was really cool. Yeah, I really
- 29:18S9: enjoyed it.
- 29:19S4: And then, uh, I managed to catch some of the
- 29:20S4: rugby on the way home in the car to second
- 29:22S4: half of the ABS game. So it's pretty. Yeah, it's
- 29:24S4: pretty maxed out the sport and, uh, always nice if
- 29:27S4: you don't get the chance to do it, which we
- 29:29S4: don't do it enough, but having one on one time
- 29:30S4: with one of your kids is just the best. Really? Magic?
- 29:33S2: Yeah. The fella rock drive with Jay and Dunk.
- 29:37S4: Definitely not into telling you how to vote, but I
- 29:40S4: thought this was an interesting post that legacy put up
- 29:42S4: if you're into fishing and whatever.
- 29:46S5: If you're into the ocean.
- 29:48S4: Yeah. And whatever shape and form that is. Uh, I
- 29:52S4: thought it was a good thing to put out. They
- 29:53S4: basically put out, um, uh, um, an image that sort
- 29:59S4: of outlines what political parties are campaigning on for our fisheries,
- 30:02S4: for example.
- 30:03S5: So they say legacy is non-partisan. We're not telling you
- 30:06S5: who to vote for because everyone's priorities are different, which is,
- 30:09S5: which is important to remember. It's kind of, I think
- 30:12S5: people I was having this conversation this morning, uh, in
- 30:15S5: a hot box session with the lads. And there's like
- 30:18S5: classic examples of it gets to this time of year
- 30:22S5: and it just gets disgusting to watch how adults go
- 30:26S5: against each other and bicker and you and go. And
- 30:28S5: I meant to pick you to run this joint. Like,
- 30:31S5: imagine if you're like, I imagine how good it would be. Say,
- 30:33S5: for example, the two majors, like someone goes, you know,
- 30:36S5: the three policies that you've got on education, fisheries and transport,
- 30:40S5: I really love them. If we get in, we're going
- 30:42S5: to be pushing that along too. So then you at
- 30:43S5: least know that you've got some common ground on it.
- 30:45S5: Imagine if they did like a coalition, like a red
- 30:48S5: and blue coalition, like just.
- 30:51S4: For the greater good.
- 30:52S5: Yeah. So then you're getting both ends of it. I mean,
- 30:54S5: it's sort of. Yeah, depending on how.
- 30:55S4: Idealistic of.
- 30:56S5: You. Massively idealistic. Because who would like to help those
- 30:59S5: that need help but still be able to get ahead
- 31:01S5: when you deserve to get ahead.
- 31:02S4: So, um, this is the different policies that they've sort of, uh,
- 31:07S4: earmarked and marked out with which parties are going to be,
- 31:10S4: you know, going for them or against them or, uh,
- 31:13S4: haven't seen anything towards it. Uh, dedicated fisheries policy, minimum
- 31:17S4: fish stock abundance target. It's 50% of unfished biomass, no
- 31:20S4: support for fisheries amendment bill for 2026. Public fishing must
- 31:24S4: remain outside the QMS, which is the quota management system
- 31:27S4: and any fixed catch share regime. No licensing of recreational
- 31:33S4: fishermen remove trawling um and dredging from the inshore zone.
- 31:37S4: Reform management. Apply the resource rentals, uh to fulfill treaty
- 31:41S4: obligations to Maori. So if, um, you want to have
- 31:44S4: a gander at that J set up a keyword for you.
- 31:46S4: You can simply text the keyword sea and send it
- 31:49S4: off to 3520. Worth a look.
- 31:51S5: Yeah. SEA to 3520.
- 31:55S4: Um, we've got a lot of late mail to get
- 31:57S4: to some very, very funny stuff. I would like to
- 31:59S4: start off with some actually late late mail. This is
- 32:02S4: from late Friday on the show when we're chatting about
- 32:04S4: the worst excuses. And I heard them rumble doing this
- 32:06S4: this morning as well. The worst excuses you've had for
- 32:09S4: someone not turning up there is a beauty like one
- 32:13S4: of the most outrageous ones. It involves, um, dry humping.
- 32:18S2: Rock drive with Jay and Dunk.
- 32:23S4: A chance for us to get some of the stuff
- 32:24S4: we haven't had a chance to get to. Now, this
- 32:26S4: is excuses you've had from your employees as to why
- 32:30S4: they're not going to be turning up to work. I
- 32:32S4: had this, this is not me, but this is somebody
- 32:34S4: else that's texting. I had this excuse many years ago
- 32:36S4: from an apprentice engineer. I can't come in today because
- 32:39S4: I hurt my dick dry humping my girlfriend on the
- 32:41S4: dance floor at the nightclub last night.
- 32:44S5: That is some heavy frottage to buckle your penis.
- 32:49S4: So also had to go home, apparently another day because
- 32:53S4: his coin purse was so badly chafed. Uh, someone else
- 32:58S4: said work with a young fella in Christchurch. One of
- 33:00S4: his excuses was his girlfriend's dog ate lollies from her bag,
- 33:04S4: and then he had to be with her and the
- 33:05S4: dog at home. He had many more, but that one
- 33:07S4: always stuck with me, mate. Girlfriend's dog ate some lollies. Um,
- 33:11S4: this one here. Uh, being a manager for a while,
- 33:13S4: I could write a book on the excuses from my staff.
- 33:15S4: Here's a couple. Can't come into work because the power's off,
- 33:18S4: so the garage door won't open. He only lived 100m
- 33:20S4: down the road. Can't come into work today. Wife shut
- 33:24S4: her big toe in the fridge and needs to watch.
- 33:26S4: Needs me to watch the kids. Can't come into work
- 33:28S4: cos I hurt my back. Lifting my socks out of
- 33:30S4: the dryer.
- 33:31S5: Yeah. Been there. Understand the pain.
- 33:33S4: Not quite that. But I literally put my back out
- 33:35S4: half out a couple of weeks ago. Just putting some
- 33:37S4: stuff in the washing basket. It might have been taking
- 33:39S4: it out anyway. Got a sec? For the millionth time,
- 33:42S4: I buggered back. Back at the gym though, so, you know.
- 33:46S5: Once again.
- 33:46S4: Same year, same me. That's some mail. And this came
- 33:51S4: through for our segment with Placemakers, and I wanted to
- 33:54S4: give her an honorable mention because there'll be so many
- 33:56S4: of you that, um, find this just massively relatable if
- 34:00S4: you're a parent. So she's texting saying hubby is away
- 34:03S4: for work for the weekend. And I have the following
- 34:05S4: to do summer soccer for my daughter, ballet for my daughter,
- 34:08S4: HR training for work, team focus day for work pets
- 34:12S4: day and school centenary this weekend for both girls. And
- 34:15S4: they're making us organize all of these at home cookies
- 34:17S4: decorated like animals. Potato pit miniature scene in a classroom
- 34:21S4: for the 1920s. Weeds and grasses and the olden days
- 34:25S4: contained in an olden days container. Um, flowers for a
- 34:29S4: sand saucer, baking for the cakes. All as well. Help!
- 34:31S4: That's one week being a mum.
- 34:33S5: That is not possible. Yeah, crazy, but what a throwback.
- 34:39S5: How good was the sand saucer back in the day?
- 34:40S5: Calf Club.
- 34:41S4: What was your what was your go to when it
- 34:42S4: came to doing the vegetable creation?
- 34:44S5: Um, generally some form of hot rod out of a kumara.
- 34:47S4: Yeah. I used to do that. I used to do
- 34:49S4: dragster out of a carrot.
- 34:50S5: Yeah.
- 34:51S4: A little spoiler on the back, cut away hole out
- 34:53S4: for the raisin man to sit in with the toothpicks.
- 34:56S4: Watch out for the raisin man. He's fast.
- 34:58S5: He's enough. Stabbing yourself to bits, jamming sharp toothpicks into
- 35:02S5: harder vegetables.
- 35:03S4: For what? Hey. Yeah, come on.
- 35:05S5: Straight in the bin.
- 35:06S4: Afterwards, I was chatting to him, mate. I'm sure he
- 35:08S4: won't mind me saying this, but his old man's got this, like,
- 35:11S4: thing where he doesn't want to lose the calf awards.
- 35:14S4: See the calves or what? I mean, pigs. An animal. Yeah. Anyway,
- 35:19S4: so he also happens to be, I think it was
- 35:21S4: a calf. So he also happens to be the, um,
- 35:24S4: president of this niche calf breed for New Zealand. Yeah.
- 35:28S4: And so he was my mate was cracking up laughing.
- 35:32S4: He goes, we've never lost one. But the old boys
- 35:34S4: spend 20 grand on, on semen every year to make
- 35:38S4: sure he gets the best ones. So over the last
- 35:41S4: three years he's split 60 grand on the genetics of
- 35:44S4: making sure he has the best calves for calf day.
- 35:47S5: For his kids, grandkids.
- 35:49S4: Grandkids. So it's more for him. Yeah, obviously.
- 35:52S5: Just has the ribbons up, but I had bunches. I
- 35:55S5: have no idea where they are.
- 35:56S4: Oh, your parents will have them. You'll find.
- 35:57S5: Them. Yeah. Mum will have them in the shrine somewhere
- 35:59S5: at home.
- 36:00S4: Yeah. Absolutely unusual that you got two bedrooms and one
- 36:03S4: of your sisters missed out. But anyway.
- 36:05S5: I have to share a set of bunks.
- 36:07S4: Well, you know, if you don't win enough awards, you
- 36:09S4: don't get two bedrooms, do you?
- 36:10S2: Oh. Sounds feral, I love it. Rock drive with Jay
- 36:14S2: and Dunk.
- 36:15S4: Was chatting about earlier the fact that you got your
- 36:17S4: acupuncture and then have a good chat with what's essentially
- 36:21S4: what do you call them? I don't know, it was
- 36:24S4: like a not a psychiatrist.
- 36:27S5: Yeah, basically an acupuncturist. Counsellor.
- 36:29S4: Yeah.
- 36:29S5: Okay. Yeah.
- 36:30S4: And you were saying it's amazing. You feel lighter after
- 36:32S4: chatting to that bloke over the weekend. Um, Tristan just
- 36:34S4: texted in saying fella's helping people explore and remedy the
- 36:37S4: experience of not feeling quite right and not getting the
- 36:40S4: results is what I do. I have three bases for
- 36:43S4: questions I've done for 15 plus years of depression and
- 36:46S4: addiction support. Been a coach for 20 something years, including
- 36:49S4: in that time. I have three bases of questions that
- 36:52S4: get started. What is one result you'd like to create?
- 36:55S4: What is, um, what is it that is annoying? Slash
- 36:58S4: uncomfortable with you where you're at right now? And do
- 37:02S4: you feel what you do is truly valuable to yourself
- 37:05S4: and those who you serve? These start the conversation. I
- 37:08S4: have moved beyond psych counselling and coaching now and help
- 37:11S4: people connect more fully with themselves and their own answers.
- 37:14S5: It's a very cool service, that one.
- 37:16S4: Yeah um it's ISOL support. I was looking for the
- 37:21S4: business name support. There you go. Um, if you missed
- 37:24S4: the news a little bit earlier, just after 6:00 this evening.
- 37:26S4: Awesome news. Kings of Leon going to be coming to Auckland.
- 37:30S4: And this is a show that is perfect for those
- 37:31S4: that missed out on Electric Avenue tickets. Um, doing live
- 37:35S4: at domain with Ocean Alley, which is Wednesday, 24th of February.
- 37:38S4: Presale start Thursday. There's um, that's the Westpac ones live
- 37:42S4: nation Friday general tickets go on sale this coming Tuesday. Um,
- 37:46S4: huge Kings of Leon new album being released on November
- 37:48S4: 6th as well. So not too long to wait for that.
- 37:50S5: Oh, it should be fresh music as well as basically
- 37:52S5: a smattering. There's some there's some tracks. If you go
- 37:55S5: back through the albums, oh.
- 37:56S4: Man.
- 37:57S5: Man, it's it's a, it's a walk down memory lane.
- 38:01S4: They are one of those bands that every single song
- 38:04S4: transports you to a place and time, I reckon, and
- 38:07S4: whole albums as well.
- 38:08S5: And they haven't missed with an album as well know.
- 38:12S4: Like.
- 38:13S5: You know, sometimes sometimes I'm like, oh, you know, I
- 38:15S5: want to break away and do my own stuff. You know,
- 38:17S5: get a little bit experimental and you're like, that's a dud.
- 38:20S5: That's a tough.
- 38:20S4: One. Well, they've never like, they've never done that. Like,
- 38:22S4: like they've never done solo albums, but they'll go, look,
- 38:27S4: we just know how to write a commercial hit. Yeah,
- 38:29S4: we're going to go away and do something different. And
- 38:32S4: that's also commercial hit because it turns out everything they
- 38:36S4: do will be commercially successful, which is why that'll sell
- 38:38S4: ridiculously well. Um, nights is going to have a double
- 38:41S4: pass this evening with, uh, Benny Boy. He joins you
- 38:43S4: after seven this evening. Some, uh, fat tunes lined up
- 38:46S4: got LED Zep, The Boondocks, Metallica in the mix as well.
- 38:50S4: So he's got pieces of Molly in there, too. Um,
- 38:52S4: and that's us for the day. We'll be back tomorrow
- 38:54S4: from three. Uh, have yourself a cracking Monday night. Um,
- 38:59S4: and if you want more, we did do a, there
- 39:01S4: is another not for radio podcast out today. If you
- 39:03S4: like your content a little bit more fast and loose.
- 39:05S4: Full breakdown of our weekend.
- 39:06S5: Yeah, if you like it.
- 39:07S4: Spicy and a mishap I had at the beach. Not good.
