My name is Carla. I' m 20 years old and I' m
0:10
currently studying college. The story I' m going to share with you happened
0:15
seven years ago when I was thirteen and I was in high school. It
0:18
' s a story that happened to me even without being totally my fault to
0:24
be honest. I still have a hard time talking about it. I'
0:27
ve lived my whole life in a house on a hill. I' m
0:33
pretty used to the peace of mind there. Since I' ve been using
0:37
reason. My dad has worked at a grocery store near the house and even
0:41
in some seasons I' ve been helping him attend to it. Instead,
0:46
since I was born, my mom has been dedicated to household chores since childhood.
0:52
My parents have been pretty strict with me, and one of the reasons
0:56
is because I' m an only child. When I was thirteen, they
1:00
wouldn' t let me out and they kept me from even hanging out with
1:04
some neighbors I shared the same age because of this same situation in school I
1:11
used to be a quiet person. I didn' t really have many friends.
1:12
Sometimes I talked to one or two friends, including my friend Sonia.
1:18
She was very different from me. His parents were more open than mine and
1:22
understood that we should have fun. Sonia asked me very often to go to
1:27
parties, to have a little drink and even encouraged me to make jokes to
1:34
our companions. I always said no. And it was because of all this
1:38
that my parents forbade me to join her. For a while, since they
1:42
thought it was bad influence for me. As I said earlier, I didn
1:49
' t go out much at first. When I met my friend Sonia,
1:52
they would let me go out with her two or three times a month at
1:56
most out of school. This made her and her group of friends make fun
2:00
of me. All these factors are what would later have an impact on history.
2:06
Like I said, I was a very private person and I didn'
2:09
t usually get into trouble, but she was quite the opposite. From the
2:15
first grade of high school I went to classes in the afternoon shift. He
2:20
was out at seven o' clock at night. My mom always came after
2:23
me, but once she got sick and couldn' t pick me up.
2:28
Days before we had gone out to lunch with my dad. She didn'
2:31
t like the food. She was very concerned about the fact that she went
2:37
home alone. My school was about 15 minutes away, but she had given
2:42
me money to go by taxi. I told all this to Soña and she,
2:47
as always, had recommended me to do something else. He told me
2:53
to go out for a while and walk around and that with the money from
2:57
the cab we can buy some things. He had advised me to tell my
3:01
mom that there was a lot of traffic and that was why I had been
3:06
late to the house. Of course I didn' t agree to do that.
3:09
I respected my parents and had a lot of confidence in them to do
3:14
something like that. However, it was so much his insistence that I despaired
3:17
and ended up yielding. In the end I thought it would only be a
3:23
while and that nothing bad was going to happen, but I was wrong.
3:25
We left school and quickly headed to a store. She had started that stage
3:31
where she liked to sneak in on her parents and used all the money they
3:37
had given me to buy some beers. At this point, I couldn'
3:42
t do anything anymore. She had already spent the taxi money and had to
3:46
walk home. For a moment I thought I' d leave her there and
3:53
go home, but I was also worried she' d take too much and
3:58
fight with her parents. Then he convinced me to go for the beers at
4:00
a park near the school. He told me that he had already gone there
4:05
on other occasions and that nothing would happen. After almost an hour of being
4:10
there. I knew I had to go home now, because it was too
4:14
late and I couldn' t make any more excuses for my parents. She
4:19
was already a little taken and she was insisting on me doing it. Also
4:24
honestly, I was fed up and it was so much that I had been
4:29
telling myself that in the end I ended up giving in. I just did
4:31
it so I could leave and not keep getting into trouble. After a while,
4:36
I started getting a little drunk, too. I wasn' t used
4:43
to drinking and of course I was getting dizzy with a beer or two.
4:46
So we were both a little disoriented and we didn' t know very well
4:50
how to get home. What he proposed was that we go to his house
4:55
and stay there and invent anything and that nothing would happen, and I,
5:00
at that point, was already afraid of what my parents were going to tell
5:04
me. I ended up accepting more out of fear than anything else, and
5:10
we headed home. She also lives somewhere near school, so we decided to
5:15
walk away. After all, we didn' t even have the money for
5:20
the cab anymore. She, unlike me, didn' t live on a
5:24
hill. In fact, I lived in a pretty dangerous area where I didn
5:28
' t like being very much. The few times I went to visit her
5:31
I was afraid it was almost nine o' clock at night and I had
5:36
not even called my parents to tell them that I would stay at Sonia'
5:41
s house. I was very worried, but I also felt something taken.
5:46
Like I said, she was a very different person. I loved danger and
5:50
doing risky things. Honestly, I don' t know how we became such
5:56
friends if we were very different. Well, near his house is a pantheon.
6:01
When I went to visit her and passed by, it gave me a
6:05
little fear and discomfort. I, since I was a child, have always
6:11
been a very fearful person. I didn' t like sleeping with the light
6:15
off, I didn' t like the windows, and I didn' t
6:18
like being alone either. She' s not afraid of anything, though.
6:23
He seemed to care little about the consequences of life before he got home.
6:29
She suggested we go to the pantheon. He told me it was time for
6:32
me to face my fears, as, as I said, I was a
6:36
very scared and quiet person. I, of course, said no, that
6:41
I wasn' t going to do that and that we' d better leave
6:45
because it was a bit late and it was a very dangerous area. Despite
6:47
my condition, I was somewhat aware that it was a bad idea, as
6:53
we didn' t know we could meet there, even the danger that no
6:57
one knew where we were going. She got a little angry with me and
7:02
told me that if I wanted to remain her friend, I had to do
7:06
that, because it was necessary, because it was a kind of friendship test
7:12
between fear, alcohol and everything around my head, as more I could lose.
7:15
In fact, at that time, all the things that my parents always
7:18
forbade me came to my mind and that there was nothing wrong with me doing
7:24
something dangerous and risky for once in my life. So I decided to listen
7:30
to him and we went into the pantheon. The pantheon was surrounded by a
7:33
pretty high brick fence that prevented the graves from being seen. Only you could
7:40
see them at the main entrance was very lighted. If only there were about
7:45
six lamps and it was quite large. Usually pantheons usually have security, a
7:50
candlelight or something like that, but in this case it wasn' t.
7:56
This pantheon seemed a little careless. It' s more like many of the
8:01
people who rested there have been forgotten. This gives him a sadder and more
8:05
gloomy look and allowed all kinds of people to get in there. She,
8:11
besides being a braver person than I was also quite rude and disrespectful and basically
8:18
went in to play and run between the graves, to make all kinds of
8:22
chaos. I knew that wasn' t the right thing to do and that
8:28
I was disrespectful, but I didn' t do anything to avoid it either.
8:33
After a few minutes of being there, I began to feel a cold,
8:37
something icy that ran through my body and didn' t know if it
8:41
was nerves or fear. Maybe I did, but I was already feeling pretty
8:45
uncomfortable. There I tried to tell him that I felt bad and that something
8:48
didn' t give me much of a thorn. She continued her attitudes and
8:52
told me that nothing would happen, that we were there to have fun.
8:58
All of a sudden, I really wanted to cry. It was like he
9:01
found me full of sadness. I started to despair and scream out of nowhere.
9:07
I didn' t know if it was a panic attack or anything else.
9:09
I was there. I think Dream looked pretty bad that she came up
9:13
and told me that it would be okay for me to calm down, but
9:18
I couldn' t calm down. I had really gotten into a crisis and
9:22
didn' t know what to do. Finally, I managed to convince her
9:26
to go home. She looked pretty quiet, like nothing ever happened. I
9:33
told her how I felt and asked her if she hadn' t felt the
9:37
same feeling, but she said no. She explained to me that for her
9:43
it was only a place where they had died, that there was nothing to
9:46
fear. When I got home, I called my parents, who were already
9:50
quite worried about me. I gave them any absurd pretext that came to my
9:56
mind to explain why I had gone to Soña' s house. Of course
10:01
they didn' t believe me and immediately it was my dad for me.
10:05
They already had her in a bad concept and now more than ever they would
10:09
let me go out with her again. My dad came for me and realized
10:13
we' d taken it. He scolded us both for spending the money that
10:18
was for the cab and worrying our parents. He even warned her not to
10:22
come near me again at school. It was a pretty tough night. I
10:28
remember I couldn' t sleep. I couldn' t help thinking that what
10:31
we had done would have consequences for us. My parents have always been very
10:37
conservative in many ways. I remember being forced to go to church with them
10:41
as a child. Every Sunday they always talked to me about the importance of
10:46
praying and being good people with others. They used to have many religious images
10:52
in the house in a certain way, all those advices and all that indoctrination
10:58
had been very present in me and, evidently, I had certain fears.
11:03
That' s why what happened that night made me start believing something bad would
11:07
come on us. The next day. I didn' t even cross a
11:13
word with Sonia. I didn' t want to talk to her. I
11:16
was very upset and nervous about everything that had happened, and I think she
11:20
also noticed because she didn' t even greet me. It was very difficult
11:26
days, as I was very worried, but not only because of what had
11:31
happened, but because I also failed my parents and broke that confidence they had
11:37
about a week after what happened, it was that some things started to happen
11:41
that I was already afraid of and I remember feeling very guilty, because maybe
11:48
I could have avoided all that, I could have stopped it or just go
11:52
home and ignore it, but I decided to do it and now I would
11:58
have to pay the consequences. One of the first things that happened was that
12:03
I began to suffer from sleep paralysis. I used to be a person who
12:07
slept a lot, but from that point I woke up at three in the
12:13
morning and began to suffer paralysis. The few hours of sleep were also based
12:18
on nightmares and woke up quite agitated. It was as if in my dreams
12:22
something tried to make fun of me or torment me. The objects also began
12:28
to change places. I remember many times I had differences with my parents about
12:33
some things, like, for example, why I had changed places some of
12:37
my dad' s shoes because I had moved some pictures that we had on
12:41
a piece of furniture or because something had just disappeared. For this point.
12:48
I was starting to get really scared, but I didn' t dare talk
12:52
to anyone about all this. I thought maybe they' d take me as
12:58
crazy or I just didn' t have consistency if that thing I was saying
13:03
to be honest, I didn' t have someone to talk to, I
13:05
wouldn' t believe. My parents would scold me, punish me, and
13:11
probably take me to church. Then I was caught up in this situation.
13:16
Since before all this happened, I' ve always been afraid to be alone.
13:22
This hardly happened, as my mother was always in the house. But
13:28
on one occasion my parents had to go out and visit a family member and
13:31
left me alone at home. They told me they' d only leave for
13:35
a while. I was still grounded from everything that had happened. I remember
13:41
they went out around noon. I had insisted that they take me, as
13:46
I' m afraid to stay home. I finally had to stay. I
13:50
even thought about going out for a while, but if they found out about
13:54
that, I could get worse. So I decided to stay. Nothing happened.
13:58
In the next few hours I ate and got distracted for a while on
14:01
TV. Time passed and it started to get dark and I don' t
14:05
know why, but I began to have a feeling of anguish about those dates.
14:09
It used to rain too much and that day was no exception. It
14:13
was as if the more the night fell, the closer the rain came.
14:18
I was already desperate because my parents weren' t coming. I was at
14:22
the window waiting for them to finally arrive. When the light suddenly went out,
14:26
I felt like a chill. I went around my body, I had
14:31
an unexplained fear, but at the same time I tried to calm down,
14:37
thinking it had been the rain. I sat slowly on the couch, as
14:41
I had a feeling as if something was found right behind me. For a
14:46
moment I thought I' d run to my room, but something paralysed my
14:50
body. I could only see the light through the window, the one that
14:54
caused lightning and street lights. When I saw myself in that situation, I
15:01
decided to close my eyes and hope that what had to happen would happen.
15:03
Suddenly, I heard a laugh coming from my parents' room. I couldn
15:09
' t believe what was going on. I felt a terrible fear, but
15:13
I held back and thought it might be something else. I don' t
15:18
know. I was looking for a coherent explanation. Suddenly, something in my
15:22
neck came up with a blow. I felt an icy breeze that suggested to
15:26
me terribly, because I didn' t know what was going on. I
15:28
began to hear my name, but as if I were a whisper, a
15:33
very weak voice of a woman speaking to me, as if trying to tell
15:37
me something, I began to breathe very agitatedly and I began to cry.
15:41
It was really an unstoppable cry. I started to apologize to whatever that was
15:45
trying to explain to him that I didn' t even want to go to
15:50
the place where I rested and make fun of myself. I just wanted him
15:54
to leave me alone and let me go on with my life as it had
15:58
been up to that moment. It was a torment, because in the darkness
16:03
I could see some kind of shadow moving from one room to the other,
16:07
as if trying to hide from me. I kept listening to the laughter and
16:11
was in an incredible cold. I was on the verge of a heart attack.
16:14
Listening to the door opening were my parents. At that moment I felt
16:18
quite a relief. When they saw me cry, they hugged me and asked
16:23
me what had happened. They thought I was like this because of loneliness,
16:27
because there was no light and because of the rain. That' s when
16:33
I decided to explain everything. I decided to explain to them what happened that
16:37
day and how Sonia had mocked. They asked me if the same thing had
16:41
happened to her, but I didn' t know. I haven' t
16:45
had much contact with her since that day. I hadn' t really started
16:49
thinking about that. So we decided to call him and ask them if she
16:55
had also been tormented. For all this he told us what days before.
17:00
I had noticed strange things in his house, even that he was beginning to
17:06
have those nightmares and the paralysis as it had happened to me. She said
17:08
she hadn' t told anyone because they' d take her crazy and she
17:12
' d decided to keep it to herself. Like me, my parents talked
17:17
to theirs and decided to do something about it. They had talked for hours
17:22
and were left in an agreement that would lead us to a person who would
17:27
specialize in it so that he could free us from the evil we had.
17:30
When they told the whole story to their parents, they agreed, understood it
17:36
was the best thing for us and finally took us with a sorcerer. I
17:42
remember that since we entered what seemed to be his office, he had told
17:47
us that we had some companions, which scared us too much, because it
17:52
seemed that he already knew the situation without even saying something to him. He
17:56
explained that yes, that what we had done was very wrong, that it
18:00
should never be done. He commented that pantheons are places of rest for souls,
18:06
which are places where a person' s history culminates and we cannot just
18:10
as well enter and disturb all that tranquility. Besides that in those places there
18:18
are people of all kinds and energies with which it is sometimes dangerous to play.
18:22
He proceeded to make us some sort of ritual, something he said would
18:26
free us from all those things that had been happening to us. But he
18:32
also advised us that it was important to go and apologize. The truth is
18:36
that he missed us quite a bit, as we found it a little exaggerated
18:41
to go and apologize to the dead, but it was. He finished his
18:45
ritual and that same day we decided to go to the pantheon and apologize.
18:51
We swore we' d never do anything like that again. I think that,
18:55
in a way, that also helped Sonia change her way of being.
19:00
He was a different person since then and the truth changed for the better.
19:03
Of course it helped me too, because I understood that you don' t
19:07
have to do everything people tell you. If we believe that some action is
19:11
not right, we must try to avoid it. That same night I remember
19:17
that in my dreams I saw a dark figure about two meters. I was
19:19
in a kind of forest and that image was going towards me and it was
19:25
holding my hand and then it was going away for some strange reason. I
19:29
wasn' t afraid. On the contrary, I felt a calmness as I
19:33
had not felt before. I went back to sleep normally and from that day
19:37
I no longer woke up at night and had no nightmares. I couldn'
19:42
t believe that that had been the solution to all the problems. Actually,
19:45
since we did that ritual and apologized, we no longer experienced any of those
19:52
manifestations. My parents continued to be strict and with greater reason, trying to
19:57
keep history from repeating itself. I think they kind of regained confidence in me,
20:03
as I had told them everything that had happened. I' ve always
20:07
had a very good relationship with my parents. I understood that all his teachings
20:12
have been very valuable. And we must always try to do the right thing,
20:17
respect those who are and those who are no longer with us. We
20:21
believe that because they no longer live, there will be no consequence if we
20:25
mock or mess with them. But that is not the case, and here
20:33
is an anonymous account.
