- 0:00Hello, everyone, and welcome back to the Big Life Podcast. I'm Leah Klinke.
- 0:05And I'm Kate Phillips, and we're so excited to be here today for Episode 9 of The Big Life.
- 0:11Yes, this week we have so much to catch up on.
- 0:14This week was the first week of conference games, so like all the teams played
- 0:20in their conferences now, so we've got a lot of catch up on.
- 0:23But first, Kate, how'd your game go this past week?
- 0:27It went really well. We played Texas and we won 3-1.
- 0:32We scored a lot of really, really good goals.
- 0:35We just played well as a team. Obviously, there was a lot to take away from that game.
- 0:41We defensively we did all
- 0:45right like we have a lot to take away from more I
- 0:48would say defensively than offensively offensively though
- 0:51I mean we scored three goals one of them
- 0:54was like I mean it was like one of our
- 0:56players she literally scored a diving header like oh
- 1:00wow her body on the line like awesome yes
- 1:03it was awesome so I think that that game
- 1:06was like a huge step for our team just because
- 1:09we've been in like we've played
- 1:12slew memphis and illinois who are all like
- 1:15ranked pretty high and we lost all
- 1:18those games by slew and memphis by one
- 1:21goal and illinois by two and then we come into
- 1:24texas which is obviously a really good team and
- 1:27we pull out a three to one win probably should have been 3-0 i'm
- 1:31still kind of mad about their goal but we didn't like back off at all and we
- 1:36just I don't know stuck with our game plan and it worked really well for us
- 1:41how did your guys's game go this week pretty well so we flew to North Carolina State we played them.
- 1:49And we won two to one it was a very it was honestly a tough game for us but
- 1:53we came out with the win so that's why I said pretty good but they scored first
- 1:57so we definitely faced some adversity, had to lock in, and we got an equalizing goal.
- 2:03And then it was one-to-one for forever until the very end of the second half.
- 2:09I think there was like four minutes left or something.
- 2:11And we were just fighting and battling, and we never gave up.
- 2:15And then we scored a goal with four minutes left.
- 2:18So that was great. It was a good cross from our wing back, and then our forward.
- 2:23Kind of slid and got the ball in the back of the net. So that was great.
- 2:27I think we definitely learned a lot as a team too. Our coaches were really proud
- 2:30of us for how we were able to not give up and we came back from a deficit to win the game.
- 2:36So I think we just had full belief in ourselves and full confidence that we
- 2:39could go in and win that game. So after they scored, we just stayed calm and were like,
- 2:44It's no big deal. We got it. And although we didn't play the best,
- 2:47like, we just got the result. So, I mean, that's all that matters.
- 2:50Like, three points versus one point is huge.
- 2:52Like, a win versus a tie. So, we're definitely glad to score in the 86th minute
- 2:58and fly back to South Bend, Indiana with a win.
- 3:02Who do you guys play next week? We play Tennessee on Thursday,
- 3:07and then we go to Kentucky on Sunday. How about you guys?
- 3:11Awesome. Those are going to be good games. I know, yeah. good team
- 3:14so definitely we'll have to be on the lookout for those
- 3:17so we play duke we only have one game versus duke and
- 3:21i think right now they're number two and we're
- 3:24number six i think something like that so it's gonna
- 3:27be such a good game we're ready we're fired up for
- 3:30this game i mean both of our teams we
- 3:33kind of have a similar style of play we like to pass it we
- 3:36like to like use into our individual qualities but
- 3:39also just really play together as a team and we'll both
- 3:42be organized teams defensively offensively we kind
- 3:45of each have our own like built-in system so we'll have to see how we match
- 3:49up against each other but I'm sure it's just going to be a battle till the very
- 3:52end so I mean the team that will win will be the team that comes in the most
- 3:57ready with the most energy and then also the most sharpest technically so really
- 4:02anyone's game but we're so excited and.
- 4:06Duke better watch out that's all I'm saying you guys are you guys home or away
- 4:11we're home So we played one, too, yeah, in front of our crowd Thursday night under the lights.
- 4:16So make sure to tune into that one because it's going to be a good one. And go Irish.
- 4:22Yes, that'll be a really fun game. I had, like, put that down for games this week.
- 4:27So that'll be fun. I mean, they've kind of had a little bit of a rough start.
- 4:33So it'll be interesting to see you guys come out on the front foot. I think you'll do well.
- 4:39Yeah, right. Right. I think last week they lost to Virginia,
- 4:44which is another very good team. And that was 3-1.
- 4:47And then they beat Miami. Duke ended up beating Miami 1-0.
- 4:51So definitely, I feel like they're going to have a fire under their belt.
- 4:55And I mean, that was their first loss, I think, of the season.
- 4:58So, I mean, they're going to be ready. But we just, we're ready too.
- 5:02And all respect, but hopefully they'll have their second loss by the end of the week.
- 5:10Yeah. They're going to be great. It's going to be good. How, like...
- 5:14Hard do you think it is going into like a week
- 5:17after playing two games like a thursday sunday week
- 5:21and then playing like i guess you guys play acc
- 5:24it seems like you guys are playing like if you have a one week it's
- 5:27on thursday yeah i mean
- 5:30yeah for us like it just depends like the next week we
- 5:33play unc on like a wednesday we have like a friday game it's
- 5:36like weird but switching from one games to
- 5:39two games it's definitely different this year because in the
- 5:42past years i think the season has been like one or two weeks
- 5:45shorter but I remember like as a freshman and sophomore
- 5:48we would play like two game weekends every weekend so you.
- 5:51Gotta get in your routine but at the same time it's exhausting
- 5:54and for the players who play a lot a lot of minutes
- 5:57they're definitely very tired and just
- 6:01exhausting I mean everyone pushes through but I think it's
- 6:03better now that I mean the season's a little bit longer but
- 6:06it's nice to have these one game weeks except it does
- 6:09kind of throw off like the dynamic like you're not in much of
- 6:12a routine like depending on when your game is if it's on
- 6:15a third sunday or even a friday or wednesday there's
- 6:18some random time so if you do
- 6:21have thursday sunday then it's like a nice weekly schedule that
- 6:24you're kind of used to but it's i like one
- 6:27game weeks better just because you can just focus on one thing
- 6:30and all your energy into that and of course
- 6:33you want to take it one game at a time even if you do have like two
- 6:37games a week but it's just such a quick turnaround like Thursday
- 6:40you play a game and then Friday you have to forget about
- 6:43that and move on to the next game so yeah yeah but
- 6:46it's definitely a little bit of a mentality switch for sure
- 6:50definitely yeah our for SEC it's like
- 6:53I think this year it's kind of like a flipped so
- 6:56it's like you'll play two games one game two games
- 6:59Thursday Sunday and then one game on Friday it's
- 7:03like I think it's like every other week somewhat yeah but
- 7:06i think i really like that just because that's nice the
- 7:09two games like two game two game two two game
- 7:12weeks back to back is a lot yes like
- 7:16just a lot on your body you don't really get like practices in when you have.
- 7:21Those at least on like for fridays you'll have like two pretty hard practices
- 7:26or be able to get like two hard practices in before and prepare for that team, like you were saying,
- 7:33only preparing for that team, so it does help a lot.
- 7:36But yeah, the two game weeks are tough, but.
- 7:41I mean, we're kind of used to it at this point. Yeah, exactly.
- 7:45Yeah, and everyone does it, so it's not that bad. Yeah, that's kind of interesting.
- 7:49I mean, honestly, maybe our schedule's like that too, where we have like one
- 7:52game, then two, and I have not even looked that far ahead yet. So I don't know.
- 7:57I don't think it's like as structured as you guys' is, though.
- 8:00Ours are kind of random. Like, we've never played a Wednesday night game.
- 8:02Like, I don't know. And we don't really play on Fridays either,
- 8:05but I think we have some this year.
- 8:08What would you say, like, how's it been? And I mean,
- 8:11also we'll go over, we need to go over like some scores from this week,
- 8:14but there's been a lot of upsets and a lot of just like craziness in this first
- 8:20week of conference games. Like, how would you relate or why?
- 8:23Why do you think so? Like conference games versus non-conference games.
- 8:26Like, what do you think about that? I mean
- 8:30conference games they mean everything like especially
- 8:33for us in the ACC SEC like those games
- 8:37that you're winning like are your ticket to
- 8:40the NCAA tournament your ticket to the ACC SEC tournament
- 8:43it's like we were talking about this a little bit before but that like once
- 8:49you start conference it's like a new season like non-conference obviously is
- 8:54preparing you for these really hard games that you're going into because every
- 8:58single team you play every week.
- 9:00It's they're good like every single you can't
- 9:04you don't have one game where you're just like oh we know
- 9:07we can come out with a win every single game is
- 9:10like a battle from start to
- 9:13finish you guys said you guys scored in the last four minutes like a
- 9:16lot of some of these some of these games that we were talking that we're
- 9:19going to talk about like teams are scoring the last couple
- 9:22like the last couple seconds like they
- 9:26are just a battle compared to non-conference I
- 9:29think it just these games just mean a lot more I
- 9:32think teams just know what's on
- 9:34the line so I mean it's not that we're you're not playing for something during
- 9:39non-conference but I think during conference people just know what's on the
- 9:45line that you have I mean we have nine games guaranteed for for us We have nine games guaranteed left.
- 9:52So we're playing for more because we want more games. We want to keep playing.
- 9:59Yeah. Especially for you seniors.
- 10:03You're playing for minutes of college soccer.
- 10:07So I think people see that and know it and just put everything out there compared
- 10:13to non-conference a little bit more.
- 10:16Yeah. Yeah. I would agree. I mean, I feel like everything is just more on the
- 10:20line. There's more pressure for teams to do well, to get into these tournaments.
- 10:25And yeah, like you said, it's kind of like a season start over.
- 10:27Like, I would completely agree. If you're a team that's maybe didn't do so well
- 10:31in their non-conference games, and it's like, okay, now we're starting conference,
- 10:35starts completely over.
- 10:37And then if you do well in conference, then you have a good chance to go to
- 10:40the NCAA tournament and go to your conference tournaments too,
- 10:43which those two tournaments are the tournaments that really matter.
- 10:47So, yeah, I feel like it's definitely a turning point in the season.
- 10:52Yeah, I think some teams also, I mean, looking at the Tennessee-Mississippi
- 10:58State game, conference,
- 11:00you can play all these teams that are ranked higher than you,
- 11:04you do well, and then you come into conference and teams come in and just are ready.
- 11:09Yeah. They are just like hungry. Also, just because you play against these teams
- 11:14every year and you have a little bit of like, you want to beat them.
- 11:18Like, there's just, I don't know, there's a rivalry.
- 11:21Yeah, rivalries. Every year, like, just looking at like a head,
- 11:26you're excited for those games.
- 11:28Like when you're looking at your season, you're like, oh my gosh, I can't wait to play.
- 11:31Like you guys, Duke, like you can't wait to play them.
- 11:34You play every year, you know, but it's going to be a good battle.
- 11:38Yeah. So I think those, like, the little, like, rivalries also just,
- 11:43like, put a little fire under teams. Yes, for sure.
- 11:46Yeah, especially because you play them every year. Like, I always look at a
- 11:49team, I'm like, ooh, I remember her. Like, I played against her.
- 11:51Like, dang, not to defend that girl. Or, like, yeah.
- 11:55So it definitely, there's a bunch of rivalries.
- 11:58And, yeah, that game, let's talk about that game for a second.
- 12:01So Mississippi State beat number one Tennessee 3-2.
- 12:05So, Tennessee had no goals scored against them until that game.
- 12:09I know. And then they get...
- 12:12Like three scored against them I mean that's crazy I mean
- 12:15well done Mississippi State but I think especially for
- 12:18Tennessee being like number one or like any of the top teams
- 12:21really like you have such a huge target on your back when the
- 12:24teams play you they're like oh like they're not number one like
- 12:27we're gonna go out and beat them and like anything
- 12:30can happen but I think that game was that was crazy I was watching
- 12:33that like on the edge of my seat and they kept scoring I was like oh
- 12:36my gosh well also we've
- 12:39talked about this a couple of times going in in playing
- 12:42at mississippi state that atmosphere is a hard place to play at like they have
- 12:48the cowbells the people is like in a bowl so people are on top of you yeah they're
- 12:54with the cowbells there's people behind your goal screaming at you yes it's
- 12:58a hard place to play at and they.
- 13:00Do it on purpose for sure yeah well and
- 13:04i think tennessee just going there and like in playing
- 13:08and playing mississippi state for a first game that's
- 13:11that is a tough game to win especially how mississippi
- 13:14how well mississippi state did last year yeah yes
- 13:18the crowd definitely plays a big role especially there in at any other school
- 13:22really like the crowd really can help the home team for sure i was like watching
- 13:27that game and i like heard the cowbells i was like oh yep i remember this place
- 13:31like yeah yeah but yeah the crowd definitely plays a role and definitely helps Mississippi State.
- 13:37Like, I remember after the game was over, their coach was, like,
- 13:40going over the crowd and, like, hyping them.
- 13:42Like, so, I mean, they live for that. And obviously he was.
- 13:46Like, praising the crowd. Like, he really liked them. So, they definitely helped.
- 13:51The crowd definitely helped Mississippi State win that game.
- 13:54And shout out to Zoe Main, who's one of my teammates from club.
- 13:58And she's at Mississippi State, and she scored. So, proud of her. But, yeah.
- 14:02That game was good. That was so good. Oh, my gosh.
- 14:05It was great. I haven't gotten to watch it. I mean, we play Tennessee on Thursday,
- 14:09so probably watch some film on that game.
- 14:12But they were they were playing when we were playing I
- 14:15remember after our game we always I don't know
- 14:18people would be like talking about scores and we were all like what like
- 14:21you you hear the scores from some of the games and you're
- 14:24just like yeah yeah uh-huh yeah
- 14:28it's also fun like on Thursdays like right
- 14:31after your game is over then like you can see just like
- 14:34all the scores at once because everyone's like kind of playing at the same time or
- 14:37you can see like I'll watch some of the games in like california because
- 14:40that's like hours back but yeah it's fun to just like see
- 14:43all the scores after i'm like oh my gosh this happened this happened and like
- 14:46right after your game's over you're like wow everyone's played
- 14:49and it's fun to look at the results definitely yeah why don't we talk about
- 14:54then some of the games from last week we talked about virginia beating duke
- 15:00on virginia was ranked fifth and duke was ranked second so it'll be interesting
- 15:04how that ranking stuff shakes up a little bit.
- 15:08Clemson tied in number three, Stanford, two to two.
- 15:12Yeah. Again, it's just like Stanford's Stanford before who they play, UCLA and lost.
- 15:20Yeah. Yes. UCLA and lost, I'm pretty sure. They've, I mean, they were doing so well.
- 15:26They were like, their goal differential was like through the roof and then people
- 15:31play, like, Clemson scored what, I'm pretty sure the last couple of minutes
- 15:35as well yeah I think so I didn't get that but yeah,
- 15:39So it's just like, again, one of those games where you're just like, anything can happen.
- 15:44Yeah, literally, anything can happen. And I also feel like it's difficult for,
- 15:49it's honestly difficult if you are in one of those teams that's ranked like
- 15:53first through 10 or first through five.
- 15:55Like, because it's almost easier to go into a game as the underdog or thinking
- 16:00you're the underdog. Like, oh, I have something to prove.
- 16:02But if you're already at the top, then it's like, it's more difficult,
- 16:06I feel like. Like, our coaches try to encourage us always to,
- 16:09like, just think of yourselves as, like, we're the underdog.
- 16:12Like, no one thinks we're good. Like, no one believes us. And even though,
- 16:15I mean, we've been playing pretty well and we're, I mean, obviously super grateful
- 16:20to be ranked pretty high.
- 16:21Like, we just really try to go in with the underdog mentality because we know
- 16:26that teams probably see our ranking and are like, oh, no, Notre Dame's not that good.
- 16:30And, like, they just want to come in and crush us. So we have to have that mentality
- 16:33and that energy right back at them in order for it to be competitive.
- 16:38Also, Kentucky beat number 20, Oklahoma. That was a good game.
- 16:43That score was 2-1. And then the last game that caught my attention kind of
- 16:48was Northwestern tied number 11, Iowa, 1-1. So that was also a good game.
- 16:55Yeah, I want to give a shout-out also to Purdue beat Wisconsin.
- 17:00Wisconsin was number 23. They beat them 2-1. But my friend, it's a goalkeeper
- 17:04on Purdue, Emily Edwards, she had like...
- 17:08Eight saves or nine saves or something really high
- 17:11so she did really well and they come up came
- 17:14out with a win there wisconsin i'm pretty sure it's had a pretty good season
- 17:17so far so yeah they're always a good team yeah okay
- 17:20so also the last game
- 17:23that i was thinking of is st mary's beat
- 17:26georgetown two to zero so that's part of the big east and
- 17:29georgetown was ranked like 16 or something like that and that's a big upset
- 17:34so yeah georgetown's always a really good team coming out of the big east i
- 17:39feel like they always do pretty well yeah and they'll make it they always make
- 17:42it in the tournament i feel like every year so that's yeah i mean big upset there too yeah.
- 17:48Yeah the big east has got some good teams they do yeah it's always good yeah
- 17:54like creighton's doing pretty well this year they've got some other other good
- 17:58teams too they they all they do You always have some pretty good teams.
- 18:03I'm from Indiana. Butler always does really well. Yeah.
- 18:07Me too. They always have some good players. And Xavier too. I know a lot of
- 18:11people that go play at Xavier. They always have a good team.
- 18:14Those teams are like sneaky good. Like you wouldn't. Yeah. Those teams maybe
- 18:18you wouldn't expect to be good, but they're very good. Yeah, definitely.
- 18:22What games are you looking forward to next week? I mean, there's going to be
- 18:26so many good games next week. I can't wait to watch and also play.
- 18:30So on Wednesday, number 7 FSU plays number 19 UNC.
- 18:36That game's going to be super interesting, especially for my team.
- 18:40So we play in Notre Dame's. We're six. We played number two Duke on Thursday as well.
- 18:46But we play Duke, and then the next week we play UNC, and then our next game after that is FSU.
- 18:52So I definitely need to go back and watch.
- 18:54No, their game's on Wednesday. So I'll be able to watch their game on Wednesday and then...
- 18:59That'll definitely be good for us to see because we play both of them after we play Duke.
- 19:03So we definitely got a tough set of games ahead of us, but we're ready.
- 19:08And we're ready to make a statement and prove everyone wrong. He doesn't believe us.
- 19:13That game's always a really big rivalry too.
- 19:17For years has been. So that'll be fun.
- 19:21And also I think FSU, I don't know if both those teams have been like,
- 19:27I haven't really watched, but I don't know if they've been playing their best
- 19:30soccer that they want to be playing.
- 19:32So it'll be interesting to see how things shake out with them.
- 19:36Yeah, yeah. No, I agree. I think they would probably agree with that too.
- 19:41They probably both want to be playing a little bit better. I feel like maybe
- 19:45they've been, both of those teams, a little bit inconsistent this season,
- 19:48kind of up and down a little bit.
- 19:50But this game's definitely going to be big, and it'll be a fun one to watch.
- 19:54I'm sure it's going to get a little chippy.
- 19:57Both those teams are very good they have very very good players on them,
- 20:01but it can get intense so i mean i'm really
- 20:04excited to watch that game yeah again another and
- 20:07it's also like a rivalry that's we were saying
- 20:10for years like in going into conference
- 20:13play like what we were talking about earlier like
- 20:16those are the games that like you look forward to you
- 20:19see it and you're like oh my gosh i can't wait for this game
- 20:22yeah so i mean i can't wait to watch
- 20:25it definitely watching yeah do you
- 20:28know if it's at fsu or unc i don't
- 20:31know i'll check back on that let's know
- 20:34yeah wherever it is i'm sure the crowd's gonna play a big role on that too both
- 20:39those teams can kind of pull out some good crowds and then we also have number
- 20:4423 wisconsin who plays number 22 ohio state which those two teams are generally
- 20:50like good teams wisconsin's I feel like always decent. They're pretty consistent.
- 20:55Ohio State did really well last year. Yeah.
- 20:59So, I mean, that's going to be a very good game as well for the Big Ten.
- 21:04Yes. And then number nine, Arkansas versus Vanderbilt, who's unranked right now.
- 21:09But that game, I think, will be interesting because Arkansas and Vanderbilt
- 21:13are two completely different styles of soccer.
- 21:16We say that often. But I think that'll be a really fun game.
- 21:20Arkansas actually was, I was
- 21:23watching, I kept going back and forth between your guys' game on Thursday.
- 21:28I think it was on Thursday.
- 21:30Thursday, going back between the Arkansas game and your guys' game,
- 21:34because Arkansas was up 3-0 at half against Florida.
- 21:39And then Florida came back and it was 3-2. Oh, wow.
- 21:45And then literally in the last couple of minutes, Florida almost scored on Arkansas and tied it up.
- 21:52Oh, wow. All in the second half. It was crazy.
- 21:56Their goalkeeper, the Arkansas goalkeeper made a great save. but
- 21:59oh I saw that back and forth and it's
- 22:02like you're up 3-0 at half and then like Florida completely
- 22:06flips it yeah like wow comes back so
- 22:10yeah Arkansas is I mean they've
- 22:13had some up and down with I think injuries this
- 22:16season so I think they've been
- 22:18kind of struggling a little bit I mean they've
- 22:21been still doing well but I think dealing with that has
- 22:25been a little bit difficult for that team but yeah I mean they're still
- 22:28getting great results yeah yeah no they've been
- 22:30doing well but I'm pretty sure yeah they've had some injuries and
- 22:34yeah Vanderbilt is like pretty good too
- 22:37they have two girls who I know from Houston my hometown used to go to Texas
- 22:43A&M and they both transferred to Vanderbilt very good players so I think they've
- 22:46gotten some other transfers as well and they've been doing pretty good so I
- 22:51think that's gonna be a good game Vanderbilt's definitely going to give Arkansas a run for their money.
- 22:55And, I mean, another tough SEC matchup. It's going to be a great game.
- 23:00It's going to be a battle. All these games are battles now.
- 23:03Okay, so, I mean, I think that's it for all the...
- 23:07Upcoming games that I'm excited to watch this week. I mean, there's obviously
- 23:10way more, but I mean, all those games are going to be super exciting to watch.
- 23:14And yeah, I can't wait to see how the results shake out. And we'll talk about this next week for sure.
- 23:21Let's talk a little bit about just, we're all soccer, soccer,
- 23:24soccer, but life outside of soccer now, how does that look in season,
- 23:28especially now in a conference games? Like, how's life?
- 23:33Yeah, I mean, busy with soccer we this past week we had the one game and so
- 23:39we had practice on Saturday and then,
- 23:43we were supposed to have practice on Sunday and their coaches actually gave
- 23:46us a day off which was so nice because always like
- 23:49hard to be on top of like homework for
- 23:52the next week we obviously had a home game so it was nice
- 23:55we weren't traveling or anything but I was able to
- 23:58get like lots of homework done just like in
- 24:02season it's just hard to get like things that
- 24:05you need to do like done like it's just like your
- 24:07life is like revolving like you're saying you never know
- 24:10what the next week's gonna look like just with games practice travel
- 24:15so it's just nice having like some type of downtime even like two weeks ago
- 24:21we had we had the we had a game on Thursday we did a Thursday Sunday game and
- 24:27we were able to go to our KU Mizzou football game which is a huge rivalry,
- 24:32and we just went for a half but it was just like so fun to be able to just like be a student.
- 24:38Because obviously when you're in season you can't
- 24:41really you don't really get to do those things so it's nice
- 24:44whenever like our coaches let us do that even
- 24:47if it was for a half like it was fun
- 24:50to be to be able to be a student for a little bit how about
- 24:52you yeah like yeah yeah I think
- 24:55it's important like the balance is just so important too
- 24:58and it actually makes you like a better in my opinion better soccer
- 25:01player and just a better well-rounded person but like
- 25:03when you do take breaks from soccer and do other fun things
- 25:06and go hang out with friends and do normal student things
- 25:09like get your mind off of soccer and that like in
- 25:13my opinion obviously that like
- 25:16helps you on the field too because then when you're on the field you're super
- 25:18focused you're having fun you're fresh like you're not burnt out so
- 25:22yeah I think that's important life is good for me too
- 25:25I mean I'm so busy but I'm like there's so many things
- 25:28that I've done that are fun so we were
- 25:31able to go to our football game too on Saturday we played
- 25:34actually I don't even I want to talk about the football game we lost Texas A&M
- 25:38but nevertheless it was a fun game very fun game to go to just like dress ups
- 25:44yell our friends I had a couple friends visit and my boyfriend came up and visited
- 25:48too so that was super fun to see all of them. And I'm from Houston. So I was like,
- 25:54Like, I knew so many people there. My parents came too, all my parents' friends,
- 25:58most of them cheering for Texas A&M, boo.
- 26:01But it was super fun, and it's such a good game, except the fact that we ended up losing.
- 26:07I also have been baking. I made some—Trader Joe's is the best, by the way.
- 26:12I made some pumpkin muffins. I made some banana bread this weekend.
- 26:17What else? I've been doing my teen Bible study. We had that today, so that was fun.
- 26:24And then last thing fun I've been doing is my friend took me to a Pilates class this morning.
- 26:32Ooh. It was actually so fun. So one of my best friends here,
- 26:36she's on the rowing team at Notre Dame.
- 26:39So I didn't know anything about rowing before, but I roomed with her my freshman
- 26:44year over the summer for when we were here for summer classes.
- 26:49Anyway, she's my best friend. She's awesome. And she did Pilates this whole
- 26:52summer. Like she was working an internship and then she would like do Pilates
- 26:55on top of her rowing workouts and stuff.
- 26:58But so she took me to this place and it was so much fun.
- 27:02Like we got up early, like got dressed in cute little like yoga fits.
- 27:07And then we we did it. It's different. It's like so slow, but like your muscles
- 27:11burn. Like it's a good like core workout, though, too.
- 27:14It was really fun. I actually activation, too.
- 27:17Yes. Yeah, for sure. It's like right up. I don't know. When I'm,
- 27:21like, older, I am for sure going to be, like, a Pilates mom and stuff like that.
- 27:25But it wasn't really fun. I felt, like, aesthetic, like, that whole bike.
- 27:29Yeah. Yeah, it was good. And it's nice to just, like, slow down because,
- 27:34like, soccer's, like, go, go, go, like, and you're, like, puffing, puffing.
- 27:37But it's nice to just, like, slow down but still work out at the same time.
- 27:41So, yeah, that's, like, outside of soccer, that's what I've been doing.
- 27:45But and then also school, of course. School is, like, it's hard now.
- 27:49We have a bunch of assignments and everything in between.
- 27:54And Notre Dame is like a very hard academic school. So definitely have a lot
- 27:58of work. But we make the best of it.
- 28:02And I'm making sure to have a good balance of everything for sure.
- 28:05Yeah. Just enjoying my last semester here.
- 28:10So, yeah. How have your, like, academics been? Good. Yeah, I am taking a lot
- 28:15more classes than I, like, normally.
- 28:17I usually take, like, 12 credits during season, but this year I'm taking 15.
- 28:22So it's a little bit more than I'm, like, used to, but it's been fine.
- 28:28Just trying to stay on top of stuff before it's, like, all at once,
- 28:33trying to not put it off till Sunday or something.
- 28:38Right. But yeah, this week was so nice because we obviously had the off day.
- 28:43So I went to a coffee shop and was just grinding all day.
- 28:47That's like my favorite thing to do. Like, listen to some music,
- 28:51get a good coffee and just do all of my work.
- 28:53But I try to stay like super organized and like on top of it just because if not like.
- 28:59Like we said like there's a thousand things going on then it's
- 29:02just like I don't know give yourself anxiety so
- 29:06much anxiety because of you're not
- 29:09on top of work but yeah I know I really
- 29:12like all my classes too and my professors have
- 29:15been really good even one of my professors actually he was like I really want
- 29:17he's like I'm gonna try to come out to a game like oh I'm I've
- 29:21never had a professor I think come out to a game but he
- 29:24was like he was like that's like awesome that
- 29:27you're on the team like I really want to come out to a game oh that's cool
- 29:30but yeah yeah yeah I'm enjoying my
- 29:32classes yeah good good good I mean
- 29:35I would second your point on the staying
- 29:38organized and like not procrastinating I think that's I mean
- 29:42if it's a skill you don't already have you'll learn
- 29:44it in college yeah like for example I keep this planner
- 29:47that I have and I write down every
- 29:50single thing and then it looks like this after I do it all I like
- 29:53viciously cross it out but it
- 29:57helps me to stay organized and I think that's just very
- 30:00important and yeah I I
- 30:04was wondering what was your coffee order at the coffee shop I
- 30:08got a caramel latte oh nice.
- 30:11Caramel latte nice I'm always looking
- 30:14for like new ideas I've been like testing I've been
- 30:19like trying not to spend money sometimes that doesn't work on coffee that
- 30:22is but I got I have this like pumpkin butter stuff I've got this like vanilla
- 30:27bean stuff that I've been like adding to my coffees at home to try to spice
- 30:30it up a little bit so I just saw some TikTok actually of somebody doing I literally
- 30:35just was talking to my roommates about it before we got it was like a pumpkin butter from.
- 30:40Yeah i think it was pumpkin butter from trader joe's yes that's
- 30:44what i'm used yeah no it's
- 30:49really good i definitely recommend it yeah i love
- 30:52coffee it's it's bad it's to the point where it's
- 30:54bad no idea yeah especially
- 30:58yeah i don't know as an athlete i'm like oh like
- 31:01i have so much going on in a day i can't take a nap
- 31:04so yeah exactly i'm like i need it's not good don't
- 31:07yeah your people listening don't uh but i
- 31:11mean it's okay you gotta do what you gotta do there's way worse things
- 31:14and i'm like coffee's not that bad i just like both my
- 31:17parents drink a lot of coffee and they'll have like three cups a day
- 31:20so i'm like okay i'm fine like they're doing it i'm fine
- 31:23yeah you're like it's equivalent to what i'm
- 31:25drinking i guess yeah i'm just trying to like justify my
- 31:28decisions okay is there anything else no
- 31:32i'm just excited for these games this week we get
- 31:34to play Tennessee I'm so excited I literally can't look I've
- 31:37been looking forward to this game I think my whole team has been for
