- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey on Gemma from this space is ours. We have
- 0:03Speaker 1: a new single coming. It's called Picture Perfect Paper People.
- 0:08Speaker 1: I hope you enjoy it.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Okay, thanks for joining us today.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Jem's pleasure to have you on the shade.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Thanks for having me my pleasure.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Say, can you tell us a bit more about the
- 0:18Speaker 3: song from a musical point of view and what are
- 0:19Speaker 3: you going forward it?
- 0:21Speaker 2: So?
- 0:21Speaker 1: Yeah, in the past, with our singles that were before
- 0:25Speaker 1: this year, they were more kind of like pop punk esque,
- 0:29Speaker 1: and with these new singles this year and our upcoming EP,
- 0:34Speaker 1: we kind of wanted to move the instrumentation to be
- 0:38Speaker 1: like more heavy while still keeping this like emo tone
- 0:42Speaker 1: to the vocals. So we've got this cool contrast going.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And yeah, so this third single kind of really cements
- 0:50Speaker 1: that moving into that sound.
- 0:52Speaker 2: All right, and how would you say it difference from
- 0:53Speaker 2: your last single, Helped Me?
- 0:57Speaker 1: So yeah, the last single before this was a Ability
- 1:00Speaker 1: and then like help Me with in February, and I
- 1:03Speaker 1: think help Me is kind of like the softest of
- 1:08Speaker 1: the three, and then moving to Accountabilities like full full
- 1:15Speaker 1: heavy there, like we had the screens from the guest
- 1:18Speaker 1: vocals with Amaraia from Future Static and then this one
- 1:22Speaker 1: Picture perfect kind of finds that in between. I think, right.
- 1:26Speaker 3: So did those three all sum up the overall feel
- 1:29Speaker 3: and the sound of the EP?
- 1:30Speaker 1: I guess yeah, yeah, yeah, that were definitely. That's definitely
- 1:34Speaker 1: why they were chosen for the first three singles, to
- 1:38Speaker 1: just like introduce what it's going to be really.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Nice and then what more can you tell us about
- 1:43Speaker 3: the EP? If you got a title and then release date?
- 1:46Speaker 1: We do have the title. We haven't announced it anyway yet,
- 1:49Speaker 1: we may as well do it now as well. Yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 1: the title is called Scarlet Springs, and yeah, it'll be
- 1:56Speaker 1: in September, so keep it ear and an eye out.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Could you won't be out to here that in the
- 2:03Speaker 2: background it was my daughter laughing. I'd send your old
- 2:05Speaker 2: daughter called Scarlet and since she had laughing, because you
- 2:09Speaker 2: got an album.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Of that, yes Scarlett.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Neither will there be any more singles coming out of it?
- 2:16Speaker 2: Or are you just three?
- 2:18Speaker 1: This is I'm sorry, my voice cracked. This is the
- 2:22Speaker 1: last single before yeah, the whole EP comes out.
- 2:26Speaker 3: So yeah, So as a young emerging band, I guess,
- 2:31Speaker 3: how do you approach your first EP? Like do you
- 2:33Speaker 3: sit down and have conversations about where he wanted to go?
- 2:35Speaker 3: And how you want to do it or is it
- 2:37Speaker 3: just play as it comes?
- 2:39Speaker 1: We definitely, yeah, we had heaps of conversations around it.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Me and the bassist were more on the pop punk side,
- 2:48Speaker 1: wanting to stay like a little bit more poppish, and
- 2:53Speaker 1: then the guitarists and the drummer like they grew up
- 2:57Speaker 1: listening to prague and metalcore and they were like pushing
- 3:01Speaker 1: for this heavier sound. So there was a lot of
- 3:03Speaker 1: conversation to try and find a place that worked for everyone.
- 3:08Speaker 1: And yeah, I reckon we got there.
- 3:10Speaker 3: When you say conversations, I mean sitting in the room
- 3:12Speaker 3: punching each other until you got got with a new one.
- 3:15Speaker 1: A lot of raised voiceles.
- 3:17Speaker 3: No, music industry today is a lot different than what
- 3:24Speaker 3: it was Stay ten years ago. So again, as a
- 3:26Speaker 3: young band coming through, like do you plan while waiting
- 3:29Speaker 3: months to use in advance or do you just look
- 3:31Speaker 3: at your next thing coming up and work towards at I.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Think it definitely depends on them on the band. I
- 3:37Speaker 1: for one, I just need I need everything to be
- 3:40Speaker 1: organized in stressed and ready, otherwise I'm going to like
- 3:43Speaker 1: stress out. So we planned pretty much two years in advance,
- 3:48Speaker 1: so like last year, we spent the entire year putting
- 3:52Speaker 1: together all our assets like our music, videos and stuff
- 3:56Speaker 1: and just making putting everything in a nice, neat package,
- 3:59Speaker 1: and then this year was focused on getting it all out.
- 4:02Speaker 1: So yeah, we had those two years planned.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Same for someone who's not really too familiar with the
- 4:07Speaker 3: banded Spaces now, tell us bit more of like where'd
- 4:09Speaker 3: you come from?
- 4:10Speaker 2: What's what's your plans?
- 4:12Speaker 1: Well, we're all from the southeast of Melbourne. We released
- 4:16Speaker 1: our first single back in twenty twenty one, did like
- 4:20Speaker 1: no promo around it, had no idea what we're doing,
- 4:23Speaker 1: and we're like slowly build ourselves up and learnt and
- 4:28Speaker 1: come to a much more understanding place of the industry
- 4:31Speaker 1: that there we are at the moment. And yeah, I
- 4:37Speaker 1: don't know why I asked to go with that.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Looking through the press release that I had, there's there's
- 4:42Speaker 3: a line in there that said big things on the
- 4:45Speaker 3: horizon for this Space's house.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So is there anything you can tell us about that
- 4:48Speaker 2: or we're gonna have to wait?
- 4:50Speaker 1: Well, the EP was definitely definitely one of the big things,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and yeah, there's definitely going to be a show in
- 4:59Speaker 1: October that people should keep an ear out for it.
- 5:03Speaker 1: That's also not been announced, so it's just a sneaky
- 5:06Speaker 1: little wait for that show.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Where's the best place to keep up with the band then?
- 5:12Speaker 2: And find out what's going.
- 5:13Speaker 1: On Instagram for sure. Instagram we're very very active on,
- 5:18Speaker 1: and TikTok as well and YouTube. They're kind of our
- 5:21Speaker 1: main three. We're also on Facebook, just not as active.
- 5:24Speaker 1: So yeah, all of those places nice.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Never going to put you on the spot.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Here a little bit general, I've got a new segment
- 5:29Speaker 3: I've introduced called photo Bombs. So basically, I go through
- 5:32Speaker 3: your social media and I come up with a few
- 5:34Speaker 3: photos that we want to know a little bit more about.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Okay, come up with this one for you.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Like, I've heard of some weird fetishes before, but I
- 5:41Speaker 3: can't stay I've ever heard one that involves licking a
- 5:44Speaker 3: helmet that's not a skeleton.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Completely forgotten that exists there, all right, So this is
- 5:54Speaker 1: from the behind the scenes of our music video. We've
- 5:57Speaker 1: gone in May. This music deo is always going to
- 6:00Speaker 1: be so special, like in my heart, because we made
- 6:05Speaker 1: this set in a shed where I live. So we
- 6:08Speaker 1: put all these like fly balls together and painted them white,
- 6:13Speaker 1: made the little weird window and just made the whole
- 6:16Speaker 1: set ourselves, and the whole concept of the music video
- 6:20Speaker 1: was ours as well. So it was just a very
- 6:23Speaker 1: special one.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Why are you licking the helmet?
- 6:27Speaker 1: Who knows what I do? Honestly chronological reason for the
- 6:32Speaker 1: photo moment, I think.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Right, okay, we'll move on to this one as well.
- 6:38Speaker 3: This looks like a fun movie, you know, and something
- 6:40Speaker 3: I reckon I could I could enjoy.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Hell, yeah, that was fun. Actually that was from our
- 6:48Speaker 1: first music video ever, from My Name, and we hired
- 6:52Speaker 1: a bunch of costumes from a local costume shop and yeah,
- 6:56Speaker 1: just kind of like ran around the house. If you
- 6:58Speaker 1: watch the music video from my Name, there's really not
- 7:00Speaker 1: much story. We're just like we're just running around being silly. Really,
- 7:07Speaker 1: but yeah, the video starts with all of us like
- 7:11Speaker 1: on a couch watching like a horror movie, and then
- 7:13Speaker 1: the horror movie becomes the music video. So yeah, another
- 7:17Speaker 1: special one.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I noticed I made from Texas jainsaw Masca hasn't got popcorn?
- 7:21Speaker 3: Is that because you've got no mouth to put it in?
- 7:24Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 7:24Speaker 1: I'm not sure, brother, he does end up with popcorn.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Not just this guy on the end. He doesn't look
- 7:30Speaker 3: scary at all. He looks like a fluffy Chelly tubby.
- 7:34Speaker 1: That's cramps.
- 7:38Speaker 2: It looks like good times indeed, Well, thanks very much
- 7:42Speaker 2: for your time. It's been a plasure speaking redly. The
- 7:44Speaker 2: new single.
- 7:44Speaker 3: It's out to Light the seventeenth and be premiered by
- 7:47Speaker 3: Heavy on the sixteenth, So keep an eye out for
- 7:49Speaker 3: it and get
- 7:50Speaker 2: Behind this young man.
